Software Utility
Explain how software utilities can improve the performance of computer systems
The computer system comes with many different kind of software utilities which help the user to
maintain and improve the computer system performance.
Software utilities can do many different things and offers many different features and tools that help
the user to improve system performance, such as clearing junk files from the storage device, update
device drivers, scan for viruses or spyware, optimise memory, defrag the hard disk, manage the start
up programs and help backing up or recovering files.
Common utilities include:

This helps to restore all system settings and data and get rid of any changes that been made to the
computer system, which may be causing problems in the computer system.
The user can use this utility to improve computer performance by backing up the setting once the
computer system on its top performance, and once the computer goes laggy and slow down the user
could restore the system settings from the latest backup and improve the performance to as it was
before.
Hardware drive updater tools:
This one of the most important tools to improve any system performance.
This utility scans the hardware and search for hardware driver updates.
Keeping the hardware driver updated helps the computer system in many different ways, it improves
the stability of the hardware.
Furthermore the new hardware drive updates might have fixes for bugs that existed within the

Examples Of Contrapasso In The Divine Comedy
The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri is a deeply symbolic and allegorical poem. In it, Dante
describes the afterlife and how souls are judged and placed in Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. Souls
typically are judged on whatever their most prominent sins are, and placed in the appropriate circle of
Hell or terrace of Purgatory. In The Divine Comedy, Dante illustrates that it is the choices that one
makes while on Earth that determines where one will be placed in the afterlife through his descriptions
of the punishments of Hell and Purgatory. However, the mercy of God also allows for repentance and
a greater chance to go to Heaven which is symbolized by Dante s entire journey through the afterlife
and the very fact that Purgatory exists. The justice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contrapasso is, in a sense, a way to make the punishment fit the crime. In every circle of the Inferno,
the sin that is punished is related to the punishment the sinners receive. For instance, in the Second
Circle, the lustful are inside of a tempest which drives on the spirits with its violence: wheeling and
pounding, it harasses them (Inf. 5. 32 33). This whirlwind symbolizes the restlessness within lustful
sinners, guided by the desires of the flesh. They are battered by the storm which illustrates the hurt
that can come from lust instead of the joy that comes from true love. In the Fourth Circle, the
avaricious and prodigal are forced to roll weights, lamenting their sins. The weights of the avaricious
are rolled in the opposite direction of those of the prodigal and when they strike each other, they turn
around and continue pushing the weights. The pointlessness of pushing the weights indicates how
meaningless it is to be greedy and spend life looking only towards material fortune. Both the
punishments for the lustful and the greedy represent the lifestyles of these sinners. The sinners
understand what they wrong as the greedy yell out Why do you hoard? Why do you squander? (Inf.
7.30). The sinners are punished appropriately for their sins and made to understand that their choices

Great Gatsby Symbolism
The symbols shown in both novels can be seen effecting the characters lives in both a positive and
negative way. John Steinbeck, Of Mice and Men s author, introduces the character of Lennie, who has
a dream of tending to several rabbits that live on their imaginary farm. F. Scott Fitzgerald, the author
of The Great Gatsby, introduces Jay Gatsby, a character who reaches for a green light across the water
representing his hopes and dreams of one day being with his true love again. These symbols,
representing the unattainable dreams the characters have, can be seen damaging their future while the
characters are unaware. The symbolism presented in both Of Mice and Men and The Great Gatsby
reflect the characters dreams which lead to affect their lives. Beyond Lennie s dream of tending the
rabbits in Of Mice and Men, Lennie has been known throughout the novel for hurting just about
everything he touches. So, if Lennie gets the opportunity to tend the rabbits, he will probably kill them
and his dream will never come true. Although, Lennie might not know this dream will not come true,
his best friend, George knows. George said, I think I knowed from the very first. I think I knowed we
d never do her. He usta like to hear about it so much I got to thinking maybe we would (Steinbeck 94).
This meaning, George grasped onto the dream he and Lennie shared, knowing it wasn t going to come
true, to get him through the days. With this, Steinbeck shows how he believes dreams are solely meant
to be dreamt, not reached. Lennie is so focused on the future and what they want to come, he doesn t
realize the harm he has done to the things around him, such as killing the dog, rat, and even killing
Curly s Wife. The rabbits symbolize Lennie s hopes for the future, love, and safety. Lennie, being so
innocent, only believes what George tells him, therefore, whenever he does wrong, the rabbits keep
him feeling safe. Lennie never wanted anything else but to tend the rabbits, he didn t care about the
land or even being free, his mind was solely caught up in the thought of having something for his
entertainment.
Likewise, in the novel, The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald introduces the character of Jay Gatsby, a man
who had a past love with

In today s vastly technological world, when it comes to internet and computer security, people are
either scared or unaware of the dangers present. Everything we use in our daily lives, from devices
such as phones, tablets, and computers, to cars, gas stations, and electrical plants, is run by computers.
This puts millions and billions of people at risk with impending security attacks just a keystroke away.
The threat of an attack or breach in a system puts information security at a premium for many
organizations and individuals. Therefore the onus is on businesses and organizations to ensure the

In asymmetric encryption the public key can be distrusted to anybody while the private key which is
kept by an individual. In order for this process to work, it is imperative that the two keys are
mathematically paired in order to be able to encrypt and decrypt messages. Because they are
mathematically paired, asymmetric encryption can work in both directions, where a message can be
encrypted and decrypted with a public or private key, and encrypted and decrypted by the
corresponding key. There are several disadvantages to using asymmetric encryption, some of which
include that it is slow compared to symmetric encryption and the loss of the private key is an
irreversible and unreplaceable action. Despite these disadvantages, the advantages of asymmetric
encryption are its convenience in providing a solution for the distribution of the key found in
symmetric encryption, and the combination of public and private keys provides us a method of
authentication as private keys are needed in order to read the

It is easy to embrace someone who is lovable, but it is much more difficult to accept a more
challenging child. I would start by demonstrating grace and patience with them, which would include
forgiving their mistakes and starting with a clean slate every day. In addition, I plan to provide
positive solutions which would benefit both the class and the student. I would never give up on them.
Next, I would lead by example by being receptive to each child s personal space and needs. This
would include looking for facial cues and evaluating their actions to determine what a child would
benefit from. Responsibility can be demonstrated by being accountable for both my successes and
mistakes. For example, if I realized that I gave incorrect information, I would be honest about it to my
students. Lastly, service can be displayed by going above and beyond the call of duty on a regular
basis. This could mean staying before or after school to mentor a student, or making a point to give
constructive positive feedback to every student.
I am grateful for the YMCA program I attended at age nine that started me on this journey towards my

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Computer Network
.6 Advantages and Disadvantages of Computer Networks: 7.6.1 Advantages of Computer Networks:
Computers are integral part of daily life today. Organizations use the computer in different fields for
different purposes and in different departments. There is a need of transfer and sharing of data among
various departments. Advantages of computers can be as follows. i) Resource Sharing: One of the
main goal of computer network is resource sharing. Resource is an equipment or peripheral or
program or a file or a database. Peripherals such as printers, modems and backup storage devices can
be connected and utilized by everyone in the office. Instead of buying a new printer, everyone can
share the current printer. Resources can be categorized into two types: Local Resource: Any hardware
device which is placed at the same place where your computer is placed is known as Local Resource.
It can be any peripheral like printer, plotter, scanner, pen drive, blue ray disc, scanner, modem etc.
Remote resource: A remote resource can be defined as a device which is not direct connected to the
user s computer. This device can be placed in next room or may be in another country and can be can

Autozone SWOT
SWOT analysis allows for the creation of a plan of actions that is necessary for using a company s
strengths and for minimizing the effect of its weaknesses in order to increase the company s
opportunities and lower the risk of threats (Kolbina, 2015). Further, the SWOT analysis determines
what assists the firm in accomplishing its objectives, and which problems need to be minimized to
achieve the desired results. For instance, where the organization is currently at, and where it may need
to be in the future.
As a hired consultant, it would be critical to construct a SWOT analysis of AutoZone. Therefore, listed
as follows are the strengths of AutoZone: strong and stable retail and distribution network, and
corporate willingness to financially support growth. In addition, the following are the weaknesses of
AutoZone: inexperienced staff, and financial debt. Furthermore, listed as follows are the opportunities
that exist for AutoZone: global expansion, and the do it yourself market. Most importantly, the
following are threats the company could experience: intense competition, and large inventory.

The Problem of Digital and Online Piracy
Digital or online piracy is one of the biggest if not the biggest criminal cyber acts today. It has been a
major problem for nearly two decades. Sellers of digital products (ranging from music to software) are
actively fighting the availability of pirated copies of their products, but despite more sophisticated
copy protection, the problem is still out there (Sundararajan 2004). So what exactly constitutes online
piracy? It s important to have a working definition, especially when the behavior of engaging in online
piracy can involve legal penalty. Online piracy is actually a pretty broad category and it brings in a
number of different activities, however, definable boundaries are sometimes unclear (Fisk 2009).
Piracy is the act of copying and distributing intellectual property without the consent of the rights
holder. Therefore online piracy is an act of piracy that uses computer networks as a tool for both
copying and distributing (2009). Digital piracy is the piracy of digital media content, which includes
anything from illegally copying software (even if it s out of date) to copying a video cassette tape it
doesn t necessarily need a computer network for distribution (2009). In basic terms, digital piracy is
referring to the piracy of a specific type of content (like music or movies) while online piracy is
referring to a specific type of distribution method (2009). So who are the types of people engaging in
online and/or digital piracy? There is not a simple way to

The USould Adopt The Metric System
The US should adopt the metric system. The US is one of three countries that still use the imperial
system. Everybody else uses the metric system. We need to change to the metric system because of
two factors, social and economic. There are many reasons why we need to change. Some of the
reasons are conversion errors. Another reason is the metric system is easier to use. Though the metric
system and the imperial system are quite different.
The Imperial system use feet, inches, and pounds. The metric system use meters and grams and then it
also adds prefixes. To be in more depth, foot is the unit of length, pound is the unit of weights, and
seconds are the unit of time, for the Imperial system. For the metric system, meter is the basic unit ...

There are a lot of conversion errors because we use a different measurement system. For example, in
1999 NASA s Mars Orbiter spacecraft crash, costing them $125 million dollars. The project has been
already $327.6 million. It should of been 140 150 km above Mars, but instead it was 57km above.
Being so close to Mars s surface cause it to crash. This happened because one team of engineers used
the imperial system and everybody else used the metric system. This supports my reason, because of
one team using a different measurement system cost them millions of dollars. Another example is
Tokyo Disney Space mountain. It shut down because an axle on it snapped. The bolt that was
delivered was 31.75 millimeters, which was 19.25 millimeters too small. That happened because of a
conversion error. This supports my reason because we used a different system they got the wrong
sized bolt. My final reason is a passenger plane ran out of fuel about halfway to their destination. The
fuel loading was miscalculated. There was 7,682 liters in the tank and they needed 22,300 kilograms.
They added 4,916 liters and they needed 20,088 liters. This supports my reason, because they
miscalculated they ran out of fuel. That s my main examples for the social factor. The social factor is
not the only factor. Another main factor for the US to change to the metric system is economic. It s
costing us money for not changing. For example any company that deals outside the US has to deal
with conversions between the metric and the imperial systems. Even when they know how to switch
the units, they still made errors. Those errors cost them money, and why are these errors happening
can be contribute to learning the metric system at an early

Slimline with the world s first carbon neutral textile facility. Each partner brings something to the
table that the others cannot, which is why they chose to participate in the joint venture.
3. From the perspective of each of the partners, there are potential pitfalls to joining this joint venture.
Each company is grouped with two other partners, which is risky because there are greater liabilities.
If one of the partner s reputations suffers, as a result, all of the partner s reputations under Slimline

Catholic Reflection
Many times in my before I went through the motions: attending mass on Sundays, participating in
confession, when the school offered it, and praying every so often. The Lord called to me many times
but, during that time, in my life, I kept on holding onto certain sins and hiding them. I kept on
persisting in sin and felt no able to give up certain sins in my life. Most of the time I had little
understanding of things in Catholicism such as not receiving the Eucharist in the state of mortal sin
and having to say all of your mortal sins in the confessional. After a while of continuing holding onto
to specific sins I finally confessed it and it felt uncomfortable saying a horrible thing I have personally
done and I was embarrassed that I would do such a thing. After going to this confession, one of my
friends told me that as catholic we were to not receive the Eucharist in the state of mortal sin and, at
the time, I was very confused not knowing if what he was telling contained truth. To convince me my
friend took me to a youth minister and she explained this to me. At this point I started to realize more
truth and learned of the difference between mortal and venial sin. Learning of this leaded me to a
deeper understanding of truth and guided me to Christ. I learned that what was keeping me from being
close to Christ and truly experiencing Him was not utilizing the Sacrament of Confession and
renouncing sin. All of this endowed me with a deeper appreciation from the

Difference Between Forensic Anthropology And Forensic...
There are many different forms of forensic studies. Two of these forms are forensic anthropology and
forensic pathology. Though there are similarities in these two fields, there are also many differences.
When choosing whether to have a career in Forensic Anthropology or Forensic Pathology, one must
first know the differences in salary, the focus of study, the different education and certifications
needed for each career, diverse abilities needed, personality types, as well as the distinctive software
used in each field. To begin, although there are many different career options for both Forensic
Anthropology and Forensic Pathology, the difference in salary can influence which career path some
desire to work in. For example, the average yearly salary for a forensic anthropologist was around
fifty four thousand dollars (A., n.d.), while the average annual salary for a forensic pathologist was
just over one hundred and ninety thousand dollars (Franklin, B. (Ed.). (n.d.)). With this gap in annual
salary, an individual could face the dilemma of choosing between what they want to do, or the amount
of money they want to make. Though this is a large difference, some individuals may decide that the
salary does not matter opposed to following one s dreams. In any case, the person will find a specific
area of study to focus on. Though there are many similarities in these two careers, their fields of study
are very different. The main difference is the career description. Forensic

Stone Breakers And The Stone Breakers
The mid 1800 s in France was truly a period for challenging arising issues in the midst a great change.
Gustave Courbet s The Stone Breakers and Jean Francois Millet s The Gleaners, are two paintings that
use the style of realism to convey a unique perspective of the reality around them. (subjects, brush
stroke, background)
The Stone Breakers is a painting that was created in the year 1849, by French artist Gustave Courbet.
This painting has the dimensions of 165 x 257 cm, and was done with the medium oil on canvas.
Upon first glance, a viewer can see this work as two males doing that remove and break stone from a
road that is being built. However, the painting s connotative meaning shows a man that appears to be
too old and a boy that appears to be too young for such harsh labour. Courbet had made this decision
with the intention of sharing his perspective on the reality of the abuse and deprivation that had
occurred in French rural life during that time period. Courbet s intentions are significant because they
display a truthful perspective while using ordinary people. Courbet refrained from using subjects of
people who are wealthy, and live a more glamourous lifestyle, which was a norm for many french
artists to incorporate in their work. The Stone Breakers is a painting that challenges the ideologies in
society, and provide viewers with a new way of thinking towards the norms of labour in the society
during the time period.
The Gleaners is a painting that was

T. E Lawrence Research Paper
T.E. Lawrence
Thomas Edward Lawrence was one of the few impactful soldiers and scholars of World War I.
Lawrence, a British military officer, had many well known critical achievements in the war, known to
the world around us. As he overcame bullets shot his way, shrapnel flying over his head, and the
numerous casualties of war, Lawrence made a momentous impact on World War I by helping the
Arabs revolt against the Ottoman Empire and by doing so, he impacted World War I. T.E. Lawrence
dedicated his life to raising awareness for the injustices faced by Arab people, while supporting his
nation by serving the British Army, ultimately leading to the rebellion of Arabs against Turks which he

In 1919, on behalf of the Arab delegation, Lawrence travelled to the Paris Peach conference.
Lawrence observed that several delegations ignored the Arabs; therefore the Arabs could not become a
self governing state. This brought great disappointment to T.E. Lawrence, but he could not do
anything about it. In the late 1920s, Winston Churchill hired Thomas Lawrence as an advisor in the
Colonial office. Then Thomas Lawrence retired from the army and wrote a famous memoir regarding
his experiences, The Seven Pillars of Wisdom. The memoir would not be published until 1926.
Lawrence slowly became popular and a well known celebrity. Part of the reason he was popular was
because of Lowell Thomas, who supported Lawrence s views. After a few years in retirement
Lawrence returned to the British army as a pilot for thirteen years. Lawrence did not appreciate the
fame, so he took pseudonyms when he rejoined the army. Examples of these pseudonyms were
Thomas Edward Shaw and John Hume Ross. After serving on various missions, Lawrence returned
back to retirement. Sadly, T.E. Lawrence got into an accident while speeding back from the post office

Lawrence was declared dead on May 19, 1935. Though his life came to such a tragic end, the

Should Schools Display The Ten Commandments
Why don t schools display the ten commandments To many people think that the ten commandments
are out of date, but the ten commandments could help students more than a code of ethics. More and
more schools are removing the ten commandments from their schools. Even though separation of state
and religion is a law, it could be offensive to non christian, and the ten commandments are viewed as
out of date. The ten commandments should still be displayed in public government buildings and in
schools. Just because some supreme court decided it illegal to display the ten commandments in
public buildings doesn t mean that he ruling can t be overturned let s look at some statistics on this
subject. So here some statistics taken on february 25 27 of 2005. The question asked was do you think
supreme court should or should not allow the texas state government to display a monument to the ten
commandments? 76% said they should. Here more statistics taken on february 25 27, 2005. The
question was how would you, personally, feel if there was a monument to the ten commandments on
the grounds of your state s capitol building? 56% found it appropriate while 24% did care and only
20% found it inappropriate. There also some statistics from june 25 27, 1999. The question asked was
do you favor or oppose allowing public schools to display the ten commandments? 74% favored it. So

In 1998, Brengle and the Museum played a key role in establishing the New Bedford Whaling
National Historical Park. The designation as a National Park helped her to bring in wave of tourists to
the city and helped the community to develop the streets, homes, and business buildings of the
downtown Historic District. That is one of the best example for how she made the community
involved.
The Blue Whale project was another successful action for community involvement. The Jacobs
Family Gallery became the Museum s center of activity. The Jacobs Family provides the Museum
donation of 1 000 000 USD.
Later the Museum began to exchange stock with the Azorean Maritime Heritage Society and was
gifted 500 000 USD to create the Azorean Whaleman Gallery . Many others grants followed in similar
way.
In 2002 the Museum became part of the U.S. Department of Education s ECHO project and in this
way Anne s organization connected to many others similar and historical organizations. The Museum
received part of 1.7 millions USD for four museums. Anne Brengle made an acquisition of the entire
collection of more than 70,000 objects of the Kendall Whaling Museum. With this gift, the Museum
expanded its mission to develop the historic interaction of human with whale (citation, Museum s

A Prayer For Owen Meany Analytical Essay
A Prayer for Owen Meany was an intriguing and poignant novel with profound concepts intertwined
with its comical and relatable events of everyday life. It was able to make a personal connection with
the reader while at the same time communicating some of the deeper perceptions of the human race
and taking a firm political stand on the international policy of the United States. The content within
the novel has basis in Irving s personal life, as well as in the time period shortly before the novel was
written, giving it the ability to impact an individual on a personal level and make a bold political
statements on the United States and its people. John Irving s childhood reflects many of the themes

He is puerile. His sense of political outrage is strictly emotional. This is definitely a mind boggling
idea since there are so many characteristics he and Johnny share, but it is agreeable that Johnny
Wheelwright did lack distance and perspective . In A Prayer for Owen Meany, John stated that he was
a Joseph and that he did nothing. This was completely correct and gives an understanding to why
Irving made him the main character in the first place. The reader gets to see into Johnny s thought and
sees the book through that singular perspective, but Irving states that he has none. That is because he
states everything as it is and gives the opinions of Irving himself in order to make political statements.
This was an amazing move on Irving s part, and it gave the reader a chance to absorb these kinds of
concepts without being given them by a narrator. Instead all the ideas can be analyzed as if the reader
was a first person observer as well. John Irving also divulged that he book was created with the
question of what might convince him of religious faith. A Prayer for Owen Meany was the result of
such and embodied who Irving might be if those events had happened to him. Overall, Irving is no

Ideas of Rulers in Tao-te Ching and The Prince Essay
When comparing Tao te Ching to The Prince there are numerous differences. The authors of these two
documents had almost completely opposite ideas of how a ruler should behave and how a government
should be run. One believed that the ruler could accomplish the most by doing the least; the other
believed that by controlling how the public perceived a ruler was what would make him a success or a
failure. Machiavelli believed that to rule the prince must do things that would win approval with his
people, and that the prince must always keep and maintain arms to remain in power. On the other hand
Lao tzu believed that the master ruled with as little involvement as possible, he believed that to not do
would have the greatest effect, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout The Prince are guide lines for a ruler to follow concerning matters of how he is going to
be viewed by the people. Machiavelli says that a prince should take care to not be too generous or too
cruel as either could have a negative effect on his reputation. While these two ideas might seem to
have little relevance to one another it is just an example of how Lao tzu s and Machiavelli s ideas
about how important the rulers public persona was to their ability to rule successfully.
Finally one major difference is that Machiavelli believes that the ruler should always keep arms and be
ready to fight off a threat. Lao tzu has the idea that the only need to keep arms is for a last resort when
all other options have been exhausted. This is an enormous difference; The Prince gives the idea that
by not maintaining a military and a willingness to fight the ruler may be over thrown by either another
country or by his own people. Lao tzu gives the idea that if you rule properly you will not need the
weapon except in the most extreme circumstances. He also gives the idea that if a ruler tries to rule by
force another force opposing the ruler will come to him.
Both of these authors have good ideas on how to rule properly and have the greatest influence on their
people. While neither one of the ideas is wrong nor right they are both good proposals for any one not
just a prince or a master, but anyone who finds

gain. It can also use the machine as a tool to commit other type of crime in more traditional

Go Set A Watchman, By Harper Lee
Prompt #5 In the book Go Set A Watchman , Dr. Finch said not much more than 5% of the South ever
saw a slave, much less owned one. to Jean Louise. This statement brings the idea of slavery away
from the racist views which are clearly present in characters like Dr. Finch and Grady O Hanlon.
Although the validity of this statement is questionable, the impact slavery had on society in this
country is clear. Slavery impacted many aspects of society, including the people of Maycomb, the
views of the Southern/Northern states, and racial tension in today s society.
The statement made by Dr. Finch was, in fact, inaccurate. When you look at the results of the 1860
census, you see that the overall percent of families owning slaves is only 8% in the United States as a
whole(CivilWar.net). However, in his statement from the book, he specifically said not much more
than 5% of the South ever saw a slave, much less owned one. The keywords in this statement were
South and Saw . Both of these words can be disproved by the 1860 census. If you were to look at the
different states separately, you would see that almost all southern states were at or above 25% when
looking at families who own slaves. This proves that much more than 5% of the south owned slaves.
However, if you were to look at the data as a whole, you would be mislead by thinking this 8% was a
representation of the south. This is most likely what Dr. Finch s error was when saying this. This is
why I do believe that

A Look At The Sound Of Music
A Look at the Sound of Music As a college student, I have seen innumerable people walking by with
their headphones in, using music to block out the rest of the world. With the convenience of an iPhone
or other smart phone, listening to music has become so casual. With the press of a button, voila! Miley
Cyrus is at the tips of your fingertips. It s become so normalized that these same people seldom think
about the science behind that noise in your ear. A disturbance in space results in a periodic wave which
propagates through that space, usually transferring energy ( Introduction to Waves ). This transfer of
energy can be explained by the conservation of momentum and energy in collisions. Momentum is
never lost; kinetic energy may be lost. If kinetic energy is conserved, the collision was elastic; if the
kinetic energy was transferred, the collision was inelastic.
Momentum is a vector, defined as p=mv, where momentum equals mass times the velocity at which
the mass travels. The rate of change of momentum is that mass s net force, defined as ∑▒〖F=∆p/
∆t〗, where force is equal to change in momentum over a given time interval ( Lecture 12:
Momentum ).
Mechanical energy is equal to the sum of kinetic (KE) and potential energy (PE), derived from the law
of conservation of energy, which states that the total energy of a closed system is conserved
(Tuckerman). Potential energy is energy that is associated with some force, and is thus dependent on
its initial position. Potential

Transformational Leadership Essay
A Call for Transformational Leaders in Today s Corporate Structures Leadership styles have evolved
with mankind since the beginning. Tribal leaders in the past were responsible for almost every facet of
their clan s well being, including basic life necessities. As times evolved leaders took on more of a
political role and the ruled kingdoms and became responsible for their civilizations continued
existence. These leaders demanded loyalty from their subjects as their empire s very existence relied
on it. In today s corporate landscapes, leadership demands innovation as this is the life source which

68) This organization often times is represented by one s own manager or leader. It is therefore
incumbent on them to embody these characteristics of a highly emotionally intelligent individual. Two
main categories of leader exist in the workforce: transformational and transactional. Both have the
ability to develop high levels of emotional intelligence and perhaps an emotionally intelligent super
star will default to one leadership style over the other depending on the situation. Each style has its
own characteristics but this however doesn t mean that one is right or wrong or that they are
completely unrelated. In actuality This means a leader can be both transactional and transformational
and that hat transformational leadership builds on transactional leadership (Bryman, 1993, p. 459)
Does this then imply that a transformational leader outperforms and is more desired by a corporation
and subordinates than a transactional leader? According to a study by Hartog, Muijan, and Koopman
(1997) Transformational leaders when compared to transactional leaders were shown to have
subordinates who report greater satisfaction (p. 23) This in turn leads to higher functioning groups
who consistently show increase performance and effectiveness scores. This implies that

Topic: Response and Social Policy paper on Iatrogenic Government The response to drug use in
America and in some countries around the world seems to have an interesting history. As the author
Daniel Patrick Moynihan describes the unintended consequences society faces when government does
not deal effectively with issues of drugs in society. He provided several references that shows the
historical and present connections to government interrelations and how many of these decisions have
some form of negative impact and at times causes social breakdown. His historical reference to drug

Thus as the author begins to address the issues related to drugs his reference about the government s

and would need to learn (pg. 353). The author s reference to technology is relevant but I will address
the issue of technology later on as I respond to his summary. The history of drug use represents
lessons that were long been seen but obviously overlooked by doctors as well as pharmaceutical
companies. The earlier efforts by government to regulate drug use or alcohol consumption began with
some regulations on Jamaican rum. Since distilled liquor was used in social events, the government
approaches in regulating the trafficking of the distilled liquor was by levying heavy fines on the
general tariff bill. The cost of importing Jamaican rum was costlier than distilled liquor here in
America. Again, at the time, the government was mostly dealing with the abolition of slavery and
again the issues around alcohol consumption were minimally dealt with. Distilled spirits in earlier
America was part of bringing Americans together during times of unity. It was a time to earn easy
money and have an all around good time (pg. 354). People enjoyed alcohol in the morning for
breakfast as well as a celebratory thing. The government knew that drinking alcohol or distilled liquor
caused some medical issues but again, the

On Children ages 6 12, parental divorce can negatively impact education. This age group is still in
what psychologists call the magical thinking stage; which means they usually are very optimistic and
wishful that their parents will get back together. The children of ages 6 12 feel responsible for the
separation of their parents but can also feel it s their duty to reconcile their parents back together; they
cannot fathom the idea of their parents who belong to them in a sense not living together. When
parents divorce their teen s attitudes about sexual behavior changes, teens chances of premarital sex
and thoughts about divorce rises while thoughts about marriage is reduced. American and British

The time periods and locations in which A P and Barn Burning take place are very different. Sammy
lives in a more favorable time in the United States than Sarty. A P is set in a small town north of

and the two shars of oil stowed away by the boatman.(Gardner 231)
On the seventh day the ark was completed. It was launched, and then loaded with all my kin and
family and with the animals of the fields. This ark has twice the number of floors as Noah s ark. After
the Jewish Old Testament establishes reasons for the Flood, then it proceeds with specific building

In it, Dante describes the afterlife and how souls are judged and placed in Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. Souls typically are judged on whatever their most prominent sins are, and placed in the appropriate circle of Hell or terrace of Purgatory. In The Divine Comedy, Dante illustrates that it is the choices that one makes while on Earth that determines where one will be placed in the afterlife through his descriptions of the punishments of Hell and Purgatory. However, the mercy of God also allows for repentance and a greater chance to go to Heaven which is symbolized by Dante s entire journey through the afterlife and the very fact that Purgatory exists. The justice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Contrapasso is, in a sense, a way to make the punishment fit the crime. In every circle of the Inferno, the sin that is punished is related to the punishment the sinners receive. For instance, in the Second Circle, the lustful are inside of a tempest which drives on the spirits with its violence: wheeling and pounding, it harasses them (Inf. 5. 32 33). This whirlwind symbolizes the restlessness within lustful sinners, guided by the desires of the flesh. They are battered by the storm which illustrates the hurt that can come from lust instead of the joy that comes from true love. In the Fourth Circle, the avaricious and prodigal are forced to roll weights, lamenting their sins. The weights of the avaricious are rolled in the opposite direction of those of the prodigal and when they strike each other, they turn around and continue pushing the weights. The pointlessness of pushing the weights indicates how meaningless it is to be greedy and spend life looking only towards material fortune. Both the punishments for the lustful and the greedy represent the lifestyles of these sinners. The sinners understand what they wrong as the greedy yell out Why do you hoard? Why do you squander? (Inf. 7.30). The sinners are punished appropriately for their sins and made to understand that their choices in life were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Great Gatsby Symbolism The symbols shown in both novels can be seen effecting the characters lives in both a positive and negative way. John Steinbeck, Of Mice and Men s author, introduces the character of Lennie, who has a dream of tending to several rabbits that live on their imaginary farm. F. Scott Fitzgerald, the author of The Great Gatsby, introduces Jay Gatsby, a character who reaches for a green light across the water representing his hopes and dreams of one day being with his true love again. These symbols, representing the unattainable dreams the characters have, can be seen damaging their future while the characters are unaware. The symbolism presented in both Of Mice and Men and The Great Gatsby reflect the characters dreams which lead to affect their lives. Beyond Lennie s dream of tending the rabbits in Of Mice and Men, Lennie has been known throughout the novel for hurting just about everything he touches. So, if Lennie gets the opportunity to tend the rabbits, he will probably kill them and his dream will never come true. Although, Lennie might not know this dream will not come true, his best friend, George knows. George said, I think I knowed from the very first. I think I knowed we d never do her. He usta like to hear about it so much I got to thinking maybe we would (Steinbeck 94). This meaning, George grasped onto the dream he and Lennie shared, knowing it wasn t going to come true, to get him through the days. With this, Steinbeck shows how he believes dreams are solely meant to be dreamt, not reached. Lennie is so focused on the future and what they want to come, he doesn t realize the harm he has done to the things around him, such as killing the dog, rat, and even killing Curly s Wife. The rabbits symbolize Lennie s hopes for the future, love, and safety. Lennie, being so innocent, only believes what George tells him, therefore, whenever he does wrong, the rabbits keep him feeling safe. Lennie never wanted anything else but to tend the rabbits, he didn t care about the land or even being free, his mind was solely caught up in the thought of having something for his entertainment. • 10. The Problem of Digital and Online Piracy Digital or online piracy is one of the biggest if not the biggest criminal cyber acts today. It has been a major problem for nearly two decades. Sellers of digital products (ranging from music to software) are actively fighting the availability of pirated copies of their products, but despite more sophisticated copy protection, the problem is still out there (Sundararajan 2004). So what exactly constitutes online piracy? It s important to have a working definition, especially when the behavior of engaging in online piracy can involve legal penalty. Online piracy is actually a pretty broad category and it brings in a number of different activities, however, definable boundaries are sometimes unclear (Fisk 2009). Piracy is the act of copying and distributing intellectual property without the consent of the rights holder. Therefore online piracy is an act of piracy that uses computer networks as a tool for both copying and distributing (2009). Digital piracy is the piracy of digital media content, which includes anything from illegally copying software (even if it s out of date) to copying a video cassette tape it doesn t necessarily need a computer network for distribution (2009). In basic terms, digital piracy is referring to the piracy of a specific type of content (like music or movies) while online piracy is referring to a specific type of distribution method (2009). • 11. The USould Adopt The Metric System The US should adopt the metric system. The US is one of three countries that still use the imperial system. Everybody else uses the metric system. We need to change to the metric system because of two factors, social and economic. There are many reasons why we need to change. Some of the reasons are conversion errors. Another reason is the metric system is easier to use. Though the metric system and the imperial system are quite different. The Imperial system use feet, inches, and pounds. The metric system use meters and grams and then it also adds prefixes. To be in more depth, foot is the unit of length, pound is the unit of weights, and seconds are the unit of time, for the Imperial system. For the metric system, meter is the basic unit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are a lot of conversion errors because we use a different measurement system. For example, in 1999 NASA s Mars Orbiter spacecraft crash, costing them $125 million dollars. The project has been already $327.6 million. It should of been 140 150 km above Mars, but instead it was 57km above. Being so close to Mars s surface cause it to crash. This happened because one team of engineers used the imperial system and everybody else used the metric system. This supports my reason, because of one team using a different measurement system cost them millions of dollars. Another example is Tokyo Disney Space mountain. It shut down because an axle on it snapped. The bolt that was delivered was 31.75 millimeters, which was 19.25 millimeters too small. That happened because of a conversion error. This supports my reason because we used a different system they got the wrong sized bolt. My final reason is a passenger plane ran out of fuel about halfway to their destination. The fuel loading was miscalculated. There was 7,682 liters in the tank and they needed 22,300 kilograms. They added 4,916 liters and they needed 20,088 liters. This supports my reason, because they miscalculated they ran out of fuel. That s my main examples for the social factor. The social factor is not the only factor. Another main factor for the US to change to the metric system is economic. It s costing us money for not changing. For example any company that deals outside the US has to deal with conversions between the metric and the imperial systems. Even when they know how to switch the units, they still made errors. Those errors cost them money, and why are these errors happening can be contribute to learning the metric system at an early ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I kept on persisting in sin and felt no able to give up certain sins in my life. Most of the time I had little understanding of things in Catholicism such as not receiving the Eucharist in the state of mortal sin and having to say all of your mortal sins in the confessional. After a while of continuing holding onto to specific sins I finally confessed it and it felt uncomfortable saying a horrible thing I have personally done and I was embarrassed that I would do such a thing. After going to this confession, one of my friends told me that as catholic we were to not receive the Eucharist in the state of mortal sin and, at the time, I was very confused not knowing if what he was telling contained truth. To convince me my friend took me to a youth minister and she explained this to me. At this point I started to realize more truth and learned of the difference between mortal and venial sin. For example, the average yearly salary for a forensic anthropologist was around fifty four thousand dollars (A., n.d.), while the average annual salary for a forensic pathologist was just over one hundred and ninety thousand dollars (Franklin, B. This was completely correct and gives an understanding to why Irving made him the main character in the first place. The reader gets to see into Johnny s thought and sees the book through that singular perspective, but Irving states that he has none. That is because he states everything as it is and gives the opinions of Irving himself in order to make political statements. This was an amazing move on Irving s part, and it gave the reader a chance to absorb these kinds of concepts without being given them by a narrator. This statement brings the idea of slavery away from the racist views which are clearly present in characters like Dr. Finch and Grady O Hanlon. Although the validity of this statement is questionable, the impact slavery had on society in this country is clear. Slavery impacted many aspects of society, including the people of Maycomb, the views of the Southern/Northern states, and racial tension in today s society. The statement made by Dr. Finch was, in fact, inaccurate. When you look at the results of the 1860 census, you see that the overall percent of families owning slaves is only 8% in the United States as a whole(CivilWar.net). However, in his statement from the book, he specifically said not much more than 5% of the South ever saw a slave, much less owned one. The keywords in this statement were South and Saw . Both of these words can be disproved by the 1860 census. If you were to look at the different states separately, you would see that almost all southern states were at or above 25% when looking at families who own slaves. This proves that much more than 5% of the south owned slaves. However, if you were to look at the data as a whole, you would be mislead by thinking this 8% was a representation of the south. This is most likely what Dr. Finch s error was when saying this. This is why I do believe that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the convenience of an iPhone or other smart phone, listening to music has become so casual. With the press of a button, voila! Miley Cyrus is at the tips of your fingertips. It s become so normalized that these same people seldom think about the science behind that noise in your ear. A disturbance in space results in a periodic wave which propagates through that space, usually transferring energy ( Introduction to Waves ). This transfer of energy can be explained by the conservation of momentum and energy in collisions. Momentum is never lost; kinetic energy may be lost. If kinetic energy is conserved, the collision was elastic; if the kinetic energy was transferred, the collision was inelastic. Momentum is a vector, defined as p=mv, where momentum equals mass times the velocity at which the mass travels. The rate of change of momentum is that mass s net force, defined as ∑▒〖F=∆p/ ∆t〗, where force is equal to change in momentum over a given time interval ( Lecture 12: Momentum ). Mechanical energy is equal to the sum of kinetic (KE) and potential energy (PE), derived from the law of conservation of energy, which states that the total energy of a closed system is conserved (Tuckerman). Potential energy is energy that is associated with some force, and is thus dependent on its initial position. Potential ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The history of drug use represents lessons that were long been seen but obviously overlooked by doctors as well as pharmaceutical companies. The earlier efforts by government to regulate drug use or alcohol consumption began with some regulations on Jamaican rum. Since distilled liquor was used in social events, the government approaches in regulating the trafficking of the distilled liquor was by levying heavy fines on the general tariff bill. The cost of importing Jamaican rum was costlier than distilled liquor here in America.
