Rosalind Brewer is the Chief Executive Officer of Sam s Club. However, many do not know that her
undergraduate area of study was chemistry. After graduating from Spelman College in 1984, Brewer
took a job as a chemist with Kimberly Clark, working in a lab. (Daniels). Five years later, she made
the transition to the business side. She worked at Kimberly Clark for twenty two years. She gradually
became the president of the global nonwoven fabrics business. In 2006, Walmart invited her to head
stores in Georgia. Brewer benefited the business by raising their profits and eventually became
president of Walmart s United States East business unit. She was responsible for more than one

A STEM education is a necessity in the United States because the country is lacking knowledgeable
people in such fields. However, one is better equipped for multiple job and career positions with the
addition of a liberal arts education. It is nearly impossible to transition to different careers with only
vocational training. In 2003, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development studied
math and science literacy among fifteen year olds. The United States was ranked number twenty four
in math literacy (Drew 27). They are behind countries such as Finland, Slovak Republic, and Hungary.
Likewise, the United States was ranked number nineteen in science literacy (Drew 27). It is obvious
that the country is behind. STEM education needs to be reformed at the secondary and post secondary
levels of schooling. Katrina Trinko, a member of USA TODAY s Board of Contributors, agrees that
more emphasis should be placed on STEM education; however, this emphasis should not be at the
sacrifice of a good liberal arts education. She writes, Even technology wizards can become more
innovative with a solid background in liberal arts (Trinko 6). A liberal arts education is beneficial to
people in all career fields.
Jeffrey Mervis interviewed educators about their efforts to improve undergraduate STEM education.

However, the economy recovered rapidly during 1968 to 1973 with averaging over 10 percent per
annum. The GDP also increased at a rate above 5 percent per annum between 1974 and 1980, except
for 1978 (see Exhibit 2). However, Brazil had incurred an extremely high level of indebtedness due to
the support of this massive development program. The high interest rates on dollar funds and the
unwillingness of foreign lenders to advance additional loans caused a deep economic recession in
Brazil. Interest rates directly affect the credit market (loans) because higher interest rates make
borrowing more costly. As a result, Brazilian government who aimed to balance the payment had to
ask the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for funds.

Hypotheses On the Origin of Birds Essay
Hypotheses On the Origin of Birds
Since the advent of the theory of evolution the origin of birds has been a thriving topic in science.
Many ideas and hypotheses have been presented, but only two stand today: that birds are descendents
of ancient thecodont stem reptiles, and that birds are the direct descendents of a group of dinosaurs
known as the coelurosaurs. Both hypotheses pose many interesting and insightful ideas based on
information obtained from the fossil record. There is not enough evidence at this time to determine
which hypothesis, if either, is right. Only more hard work by scientists will tell. Until then we have
only speculation, but speculation based in observed evidence.
The origin of birds is one of the great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Theropods are a diverse group of bipedal saurischian dinosaurs (see cladogram). They include the
largest terrestrial carnivores ever to have walked the earth. Several characters typify a theropod:
hollow bones, three main fingers on the manus (hand), and three main (weight bearing) toes on the pes
(foot). Most theropods had sharp, recurved teeth useful for tearing flesh, and claws were present on
the ends of all of the fingers and toes (Hutchinson 2000). It is thought that birds are descendents of the
group of theropods known as the coelurosaur or maniraptora. (There is debate as to whether these two
groups should be one, so for the sake of this paper, I will refer to them as coelurosaurs.) This group
can be typified by such species as Velociraptor and Deinonychus (Hutchinson 2000).
The other hypothesis is that birds arose much earlier than dinosaurs from a group known to be the
ancestors of theropods: the thecodonts (Dingus and Rowe 1998). Thecodonts were small, agile reptiles
with long tails and short forelimbs, thought to include the ancestral stock of all other archosaurs,
including birds, all dinosaurs, pterosaurs (extinct flying reptiles), and crocodilians (Anonymous 2000).
The Theropod Hypothesis
The theropod hypothesis puts the entry of birds into the evolutionary arena after the line of descent
had continued from thecodonts to the saurischian dinosaurs and their subsequent split into

Protestors Kneeling For The Anthem
Ever since Kaepernick gained national public attention for sitting through the national anthem in the
2016 NFL season, the topic about the national anthem and the flag s symbolic meanings has been a
hot topic. Colin Kaepernick or any other person in the United States has absolutely every right to sit or
kneel for the national anthem. The deal here is if it is appropriate for people mostly athletes to protest
in the form of sitting or kneeling. The side supporting the protests would argue that the flag or the
national anthem represent a democracy that looks down upon people of color. The protestors claim
they protest solely for the purpose of achieving social change. I personally believe that there may be
some social injustices still around. Protesting in the way of disrespecting the flag or the national
anthem is not only morally wrong, but it is unpatriotic and traitorous. I think that the social change
protestors are looking for can be achieved through some other type of active protest or actions. Such
actions could be getting politically involved with lawmakers, talking with PACs and or lobbying.
Soldiers have fought and died for our country leaving behind families and relatives; they did fight for
the right for protestors to kneel and sit for the anthem, but I think that protesting in this manner is
utterly unacceptable. There seems to be an either yes or no answer when it comes to the question
about the morality of protestors kneeling for the anthem. I understand the

Summary Of Little Aster, By Gottfried Benn
Reflect on ways in which this poem expresses and develops aspects of the trajectory we have been
following in art and literature this semester.
Over the course of the semester, a trend that has certainly stuck out to me is that different art
movements arise in reaction to the movement of the time. Romanticism arose in response to Neo
Classicalism. Realism reacted against what was seen as excessive idealization and de emphasis of the
real by the Romantics. Two groups arose in reaction to Realism: the Impressionists, who further
developed the idea of conveying the real, and the Symbolists, who harken back to Romanticism s
focus on emotions and subjectivity. Additionally, the Symbolists argued that all objects contained
meaning within them, and Symbolist writers such as Baudelaire and Mallarme aimed to unlock these
meanings in their works. Aestheticism reacted against the Symbolist idea that all objects contain
meaning by creating art for art s sake. To the Aestheticists, there was no such thing as underlying
meaning beneath an object: there was only surface.
In close reading Little Aster, we may catch a glimpse of Gottfried Benn illustrating this trajectory
literature progressed toward from Romanticism to Expressionism and the cusp of Modernism. Indeed,
Benn takes advantage of literary techniques and sentimentalities to attack the Aestheticist idea that an
object is just an object, while also distancing himself from Romanticism s idealization of Nature. In
other words,

The At San Francesco Or Collegio La Salle
If you are from Gejeret then you might just as well remember where Gejretians found refuge in 1975.
I was one of those who took refuge at San Francesco or Collegio La Salle, which was administered by
the Kerenite Fratelli, Fr. Michael, Fr. Kahsay, and Fr. Demsas. Later on, I heard Fr. Demsas joined the
struggle but I ve no information if he made it to Independence Day. Also, rumor had it that afterwards,
Fr. Misghina quit the La Salle seminary, got married and left for Sweden. And there is more of such
news.
The year 1975 ushered a turbulent and terrible times for Asmara residents who hitherto escaped the
ugliness of the raging terror that was being carried out by the Derg. Most people from Gejeret stayed
at home during daytime, and at night moved to La Salle to spend the night. Usually in the late
afternoon, most of the people packed necessary supplies, took along mattress and blankets, and
bagged other items, and headed to La Salle to spend the night. After some time, that became the daily
routine, people were convinced it was the only way to evade falling victim and face the unimaginable
cruelty and looting in the hands of the Derg security forces, the Tor Serawti who became extremely
active during the night.
Two safe places became safe havens for the residents of Gejeret: San Francesco and La Salle. They
offered relative security and peaceful night. Meanwhile, many residents of Asmara trekked to the
countryside around Asmara where they found refuge. The rural areas

Adam Smith The Wealth Of Nations
In the novel, The Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith attempts to construct a new, fresh
understanding of what economics is. Smith was not content with the mercantilist system that
existed at the time of writing the novel (1776), however, he gives a very convoluted but creative
and unique account of an economic system found in the simple nature of mankind. The text is
defined through the use of fact heavy segways, tables and graphs, and Smith s personal research,
establishing his pledge to give evidence for what seem like timeless observations about the
nature of economics.
Books one and two mainly focus on the evolution of the division of labor idea and
describing how this division adds to the wealth of a society by creating a surplus that can be

Book three discusses Great Britain s social evolution, which begins, according to Smith,
with hunting and gathering societies and progresses through agricultural stages to ultimately
arrive at a state of international commerce. Smith claims that the fall of Rome and the beginning
of feudalism impeded progression by creating lower efficiency.
LaPenotiere 2
Book four criticizes mercantile commerce that characterized Europe during Smith s time of
writing the novel. Smith s main criticism of mercantilism is that it directly related precious
metals with value and wealth. Smith claims that, the real measure of the wealth of a nation is the
amount of goods and services that the nation creates, which, in today s society, is very true.
Coming to this realization, Smith comes up with the idea of a nation s gross domestic product,
which is an essential component of modern day economics. A nation s wealth isn t increased by
hoarding precious metals, but by expanding the market through production capacity, also simply
known as, increasing trade.
In the fifth and final book, Smith discusses what roles of government are appropriate

In The Mood For Love Narrative Structure
The narrative structure and mechanical elements of In the Mood for Love portrays the theme of the
impossibility of a romance in the frame of the thriller genre. The elliptical narrative structure of the
film develops suspense as the central romantic relationship is developed. The narrative gaps force the
audience to interpret the events that transpire between the two protagonists, prompting uncertainty of
the fate of the relationship. The disruptive use of jump cuts and overlapping editing accentuate the
unpredictability that is a result of hybridity (Marchetti 2013). For instance, the scene in which a
reluctant Su ascends a staircase at a hotel where she is to rendezvous with Chow serves as a reminder
of the temporal and spatial plasticity

Analysis Of The Seven Wonders Of The Ancient World
The original seven wonders of the world list is The Lighthouse at Alexandria, The Great Pyramid at
Giza, The Colossus of Rhodes, The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus,
The Statue of Zeus at Olympia, The Hanging Gardens of Babylon . (The Seven Wonders of the
Ancient World Silverberg) This list can be both problematic and lacking because the reading and the
website article both show different illustrations on what the seven wonders look like. This can be
problematic because many people may see different images of them and not get the right idea of what
they look like. This can also be lacking because, the information may not be gathered correctly and
give false information on what they look like. Both sources the reading The Seven Wonders of the
Ancient World and the online source Ancient.eu/ The_Seven_Wonders both say different things on
where they came from. For example the reading says that the list comes before Christ and a poet

historians have traced back to the second century BCE. However, when inspected closely, the list

Long Bone Fracture Essay
A fracture, simply, is a disruption or break in the continuity of the structure of a bone. It may be
caused by diverse direct or indirect factors, pathologic, or idiopathic. Hypertension, on the other hand,
is defined as a persistent systolic blood pressure above 140 mmHg and a diastolic blood pressure
above 90 mmHg. Hypertension is caused by a wide range of risk factor, and can be categorized as
primary or secondary. Lastly, diabetes mellitus is defined as a long term multisystem disease related to
atypical insulin production, impaired uptake, or both. Specifically, type 2, or non insulin dependent
diabetes mellitus, the body produces insulin but it sometimes inadequate or may be poorly used by the
tissues. (Lewis, 2010) As a whole, the significance and impact of the fracture in relation with the

As stated earlier, the hypothalamic activation due to a traumatic injury results in the increased
secretion of catecholamines and activation of the sympathetic nervous system. The increased
sympathetic activity significantly increases the heart rate and blood pressure through vasoconstriction
(Harvard Health Publication, 2011). Vasopressin, a key antidiuretic hormone, is also released during
the stress response, which enables water retention through the movement of water from the renal
tubule back to the systemic circulation. This causes an increase in blood pressure. (Finnerty, 2013).
Lastly, although long term, prolonged increased cortisol and circulating insulin and glucose levels can
precipitate atheromatous plaque deposits in blood vessels. The narrowing of the vessels due to the
plaque buildup can potentially cause an increase in blood pressure. In totality, the natural physiologic
stress response can be a substantial risk factor for the hypertension of the patient to

The Bible Study Of Melchizedek In The Bible

Melchizedek
GENESIS 14:18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of
God Most High. 19 And he blessed him and said: Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor of
heaven and earth; 20 and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.
And he gave him a tithe of all. (NKJV)
Melchizedek is a priest and king of Salem mentioned three times in the Old Testament and once in the
New testament. He is first mentioned in the book of Genesis in the fourteenth chapter (See above). He
is said to have met Abraham after a battle victory. He blessed Abraham while feeding his men who
were famished after the battle. In turn Abraham gave Melchizedek a tenth of his belongings. In
Biblical times this was a gesture showing high religious status. This is significant because
Melchizedek s name means king of righteousness. The next time Melchizedek is mentioned in the
Bible is in one of David s writings in Psalms. It is obvious in Psalm 110 that David held a strong
respect for Melchizedek. He is portrayed as a Christ figure due to his extreme righteousness. In the
book of Matthew, Melchizedek s priesthood is even put in a category of its own. This is used in a way
as a metaphor to represent Jesus new reign and how it is different from anything that had ever been
seen. Hebrews 6:20 states that [Jesus] has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.

Celiac Disease Vs Wheat Allergy
Bring Your Body Back to Health
Differences Between Celiac Disease and Wheat Allergy
A celiac disease should not be confused with wheat allergy or gluten intolerance. There are several
differences between autoimmune disorders and allergies. In order to understand these differences, you
will need to know a bit about the immune system.
The main job of human immune system is to protect against disease and other potentially damaging
foreign bodies such as bacteria and viruses, and also build protection against these invaders if they try
to attack again. When functioning properly, the immune system identifies a variety of threats and
distinguishes them from the body s own healthy tissue. The process of getting rid of foreign

Celiac disease is often confused for an allergic illness because (like an allergy) it requires a foreign
substance to trigger it. Usually diagnosed by a gastroenterologist, it is a digestive disease that can
cause serious complications, including malnutrition and intestinal damage, if left untreated.
Individuals with celiac disease must avoid gluten, found in wheat, rye, barley and sometimes oats.
There seems to be a genetic predisposition to developing celiac disease, however not all people with a
family history of celiac disease develop the condition. There is another reason, yet unknown, why the

The Great Gatsby Illusion Vs Reality
The famous Parker Palmer once stated, I think the pursuit of happiness is the pursuit of reality because
illusion never leaves us ultimately happy. Writings by F. Scott Fitzgerald exemplify illusion versus
reality. Fitzgerald reveals the major differences between the two through his characters emotions and
actions.
Fitzgerald s emphasis on superficial versus real love between the characters prevails. For instance, all
of the characters present incredible facades of success, happiness, and love; however, none of them are
truly successful nor happy. Throughout the novel it becomes evident that the relationship between
Tom and Daisy Buchanan is superficial rather than real love. Raised in a wealthy home, Daisy is

Fitzgerald portrays the illusions versus reality through the characters and objects within the novel. For
example, Tom portrays himself as an extremely wealthy, powerful man who has a perfect marriage.
However, in the novel, Tom retorts, I suppose the latest thing is to sit back and let Mr. Nobody from
Nowhere make love to your wife (Fitzgerald 137). Tom refers to the affair Daisy is having with
Gatsby which reveals the ill character of Tom who is a careless coward. In addition, Gatsby creates the
illusion that he had a well up bringing and the great stories of how he got his money. However, in
reality Gatsby is named James Gatz, a poor boy from the Midwest who changes his name to become a
different person and create an entirely new image of himself to be a man who wealthy and respected

Although Bigger s character refutes the concept of religion, Wright compares him to a struggling Jesus
Christ throughout the novel; society is to learn from Bigger s example that capitalism is the core evil
of the country, just as Christians look to Christ to delineate between sin and salvation. Bigger s
interactions with the Daltons mirror those of Jesus throughout the Stations of the Cross. Bigger s
initial visit to the Dalton home foreshadows his death because the setting mimics that of the
crucifixion; all at once...the sky [turns] black (48), as it does while Jesus hangs upon the cross on
Good Friday. When Bigger first visits the Dalton home, he slip[s] back (51) into his chair, just as Jesus
falls while carrying his cross to Mount Calvary; this scene represents the persecution in store for
Bigger by those families who, like the Daltons, consider themselves religious. Even during the murder
and burning of the body of Mary Dalton, Bigger s actions parallel Christ s. Similar to Christ s struggle
with the cross upon his back, Bigger stoop[s] and ca[tches] the strap of Mary s trunk and carrie[s] it

he is executed.

Informative Speech On Corn In Economics
John Morrow Communications 104 Informative Speech Outline 9/21/17 General Purpose: To inform
the class of the influence corn has on America s economics. 1. Main Point # 1 Corn s versatility,
global demand, and profit margin has led the over grown grass to emerge as America s number one
crop. The USDA evaluated corn s crop value to be $76.9 billion in 2011, making it a huge contributor
to the American economic system (National Corn Growers Association, 2017). Research gathered by
Duke University found that the U.S. produced 40% of the world s supply, 10% of which comes from
the small town of Constantine, Michigan while an additional 10% is produced from the surrounding
areas ( U.S and Employment, 2015; Motz, T., 2016). These spikes in corn s global demand have
created an opportunity for farmers and mid western field workers to become involved in the growing
and profitable industry. a. (Sub Point # 1) One major influence on the great increase in the U.S. s corn
production is its great economic benefit for our local and national economies through tax revenue and
employment. Corn is a subsidized crop in the U.S., meaning that American farmers are paid a
guaranteed price by the government, in addition to the profit of their yield, just for growing corn ( U.S
and Employment, 2015). This creates a safety net for American farmers to start farming corn leading
to the emersion of almost 2 million individual or family owned corn farms ( U.S and Employment,
2015). Not only does

years later. Ifemelu is never able to fully embrace life in America, prompting her to plan her return to
Nigeria, the place where she was supposed to be, the only place she could sink her roots in without the
constant urge to tug them out and shake off the soil. (7) However, it is clear that Ifemelu has taken on

ignorance of the ins and outs of higher education and seemingly low quality of life, ignoring the fact
that she faced similar difficulties when she first came to the United States.

All Saints Day in Guatemala
All Saints Day, which is celebrated in Guatemala, is a day of celebrating loved ones who have died.
This day, Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, originated in Mexico centuries ago. 1 It is a day
of joy and not of sorrow. This is the when people pray for help from the saints who have passed on.
They also pray that those who have died without becoming saints will become saints. Fancy
decorations, food, and fun are all joined together to help celebrate this day in Guatemala. The home is
one of the places that is beautifully decorated. An alter is set up with pictures of their loved ones,
candles, flowers, bread, fruit, atole and aguardiente. Atole is a drink that is made of corn flour and
water; while aguardiente is liquor made from sugar cane. The people continue their rituals and before
dawn they place flowers above the doors of their home to welcome the spirits of their deceased loved
ones.2 This adds to the beautiful decor of the home. Next, comes the decorations at the grave side.
People clean the tomb stones, paint them, and then decorate them with many colorful flowers. Flowers
like lilies, chrysanthemums, and flor de muerto (a strong marigold) are used to decorate.3 At the tops
of the graves are placed wax paper wreaths.4 The cemeteries on this day turn into a massive color
display. After the wreaths are placed, it is time to eat.5 The families have picnics there in the
cemeteries by the graves of their loved ones. The fiambre salad is a traditional

The Determinants of Factors of Price
INTRODUCTION The importance of price in the modern economic system not be overemphasized.
However, to set the right price for any commodity or service, some parameters or determinants come
to play. Among the determinants of factoring price are: Tender Sales by Auction Haggling etc, and
these are discussed below. 1. Interaction of the forces of Demand and Supply: In a perfectly
competitive market or what is sometimes referred to as a free market economy, prices are determined
by the interaction of the forces of demand and supply. The determination of prices by the interaction
of the invisible forces of demand and supply is known as the price mechanism or price system . From

The seller could advertise the sale of his commodity and request for tenders. Each prospective buyer
makes an offer for the commodity in writing. Unaware of the prices offered by other buyers. The
commodity is usually sold to the buyer who offers the highest price. In a tender for supply. The
commodity is usually sold to the buyer who offers the highest price. In a tender for supply, there is one
buyer and a umber of sellers. The buyer would ask the sellers of a commodity to make tenders for
supply. They apply in writing. Quoting prices at which they will supply the commodity. The buyer
normally accepts the tender which is lowest. 5. Cost of Production: Production cost is made up of
prime cost and factory overheads. The prime cost comprises of costs of direct materials, labour and
direct expenses. If the producer has to pay more for costs of production, such producer will charge
higher price for his final production in order to cover his cost of production. All things being equal, a
higher cost of production tends to reduce supply, while a lower cost of production tends to increase
supply and this will have a great impacts on the price. 6. Government Fiscal Policy: Government
fiscal policy has to do with taxation, if government policy is to increase revenue through taxation,
taxes will be increased. Different types of taxes such as custom duties, Import duties, exercise duties,

being highly dependent on importation of crude oil since 2005 according to (EIA, 2010) reports. The
industry produces refined products that are in excess of the consumers demand and making it a net
exporter when it comes to refined oil, this however lead the country to account for about 12% of the
net importation from crude oil in 2009. With the huge capacity of refining capability the Industry
could be to a large degree a net importer, in coming years the increase in want of aviation fuel and
diesel fuel could lead to an increase in the refinery output and with the continuous decline of crude
production in the country, Uk is faced with coming up with decisions and strategies of ways of solving
the increasing demands of the above products and deciding on how much it would need to alter its
refinery capability to deliver the products and the degree of import dependency it would need. Figure
shows the exports and imports of crude by region with Western Europe having the highest values.

Generational Equality
Generational Equality
From a young age, our generation has been told that all races, genders and religions are equal and
should be treated as so. I was fortunate to grow up around a diverse group of friends and could see
first hand the truth in that statement. Previous generations were never taught that all are equal. The
end of the previous generation was in the late 1960 s. This is around the time that blacks and all races
were finally gaining equality. Today, we don t rely on what values we learn as children so much as
what our friends and role models believe in. The use of social media has allowed anyone to put their
views into writing, and follow the views of others.
The neighborhood I grew up in was predominantly white. Those in the neighborhood who weren t,
also happened to be some of my best friends. The color of their skin didn t determine that. It was the
friendly attitudes and humor that did. Growing up, I and many other students have been exposed to the
different races and ethnic beliefs that positively permeate America. Our High School has a very equal
separation between major races. The people in my classes are all types of races and ethnicities. This
has been the case through middle school and all of high school. ... Show more content on

The Origin Of Aboriginal People
The Oxford dictionary defines the stolen generation as: The Aboriginal people forcibly removed from
their families as children between the 1900s and the 1960s, to be brought up by white foster families
or in institutions. But what the Oxford definition cannot tell us is the horrible impacts of the stolen
generation on: the stolen children, their families, the Aboriginal culture and Australia as a Nation. The
stolen generation was caused by European Australians belief that Aboriginal people were inferior to
them, a belief stemming from the fact that the Aboriginal people had not industrialised and therefore
they appeared primitive to European Australians who had industrialised in the 1700s. The European
Australians also believed that the Aboriginal people were dying out, due to the catastrophic population
decline after the European Australians arrived. This decline in the Aboriginal population was mainly
caused by the arrival of the European Australians whom brought diseases that they had no immunity
for and caused conflict, (such as the frontier wars) that took the lives of many Aboriginal Australians,
causing their population to fall from 700 000 in 1788 to 93000 in 1900. This decline in the Indigenous
peoples numbers eventually lead to the creation of policies such as the Aborigines Protection Act of
1909. This and other similar acts in different states gave the members of the Aboriginal Protection
Board the power to forcibly remove Aboriginal children from their

Rational Expectation Theory and Ideological Factor of...
The main purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the theory of rational expectations . I
want to first define the basic assumptions of the rational expectations approach , then I provide several
examples of their use. I have chosen my examples to illustrate how it has been applied to large scale
method of rational expectations .
In a paper I also discuss some ideas for what became the rational expectations approach is more
prevalent in many disciplines in recent years. One idea is that the theory of rational expectations tends
to provide opportunities for confirmation of a novel approach. I would argue that these opportunities
are mainly a result of the nature of this mathematical approach.
The warning is that my discussion of the theory of rational expectations in this paper is necessarily
simplistic , so the reader should not take it as final . If some elements of the theory seems suspect in
some way, and there will almost always an advanced version of the theory, published in a place that is
more subtle and precise. Most of the data in this paper are subject to the rehabilitation of many along
the lines , so the reader must display the oldest here , taking into account the objective of the paper ,
which is only to give the reader an idea of the flavor of the overall approach of rational expectations .

Airplane Invention
Evolve
What is the definition of the word invent? Dictionary.com states that invent means to originate or
create as a product of one s own ingenuity, experimentation, or contrivance. Inventions have shaped
the world and helped the earth evolve incredibly. Without these developments, the lives of everyone in
the world would not be the same. Computers, phones, televisions, houses, and many other creations
would not exist. However certain inventions prove to stand greater than others, including phones,
airplanes and light bulbs.
Firstly, telephones, invented by Alexander Graham Bell, have proven to benefit people in drastic
situations. They help one interact from lengthy distances. For example, if a family has an emergency,
the fastest method to contact a member is to call them. After the invention of telephones, cell phones
developed. Cell phones are most likely of the most used inventions ... Show more content on

They help incredibly with traveling overseas or flying long distances. The successful creators of the
amazing aircraft were the Wright brothers: Wilbur and Orville. Their miraculous invention placed the
world in awe, for no one considered that the idea of flying was possible. The development, used for
war and traveling, exists as one of the safest ways of transportation. Thus, airplanes remain as one of
the best and most useful inventions in the world.
Conclusively, light bulbs, invented by Thomas Alva Edison, prove to be extremely helpful in life.
They illuminate the world and lighten the gloomy night. If light did not exist, everyone would
probably find themselves using fire and lanterns to see, which could result in hazardous outcomes. For
example, if candles were left unattended throughout the night, then they could tip over and possibly
create a massive fire. Lights, found everywhere, including streets, houses, and cars, assist people at all
times. Therefore, light bulbs stand as a safe and valuable

Analysis Of The Garden Of Forking Paths By Jose Borges
What are the labyrinths in the Borges story and what fantasy themes/issues do they illustrate? To me,
this response paper is an attempt to ponder, explore and, possibly, answer this question. In doing so, I
will connect my interpretations with the personal experience in order to critically reflect on the
meaning of labyrinths in Borges s story. Overall, I argue that the labyrinths help me understand how
the fantasies of time and imagination of nature are intricately connected with the male centered
sociopolitical fantasy of triumph, motivation and desire. Through my interpretations, I aim not only to
reflect on my own fantasies, but also to imagine my future as a criminal and environmental lawyer. In

Being stumbled and perplexed by this unexpected multiplicity of time, I had to re read the story more
than once, and each time I found new meanings. I asked myself, Who gets to make these historical
decisions and, consequently, create and recreate time and choices? Who benefits from these decisions
that seem to be grounded in male centered fantasies of the German rulers, spies, and other heroes?
What is nature in this story? The more I try to grasp the ungraspable meaning of the story itself, the
more I realize that the story can not be understood in linear dimensions. I have to enter the labyrinth
and journey together with Dr. Tsun s monologues and dialogues, as well as I have to enter into the
labyrinth of my sense of self. In doing so, I can develop a personal connection with this story and
understand it better. First of all, I think that Tsun was motivated by his resistance to German
nationalism and racism of the time. He served Germany not to support their war, but to win his own
battle field. He wanted to combat the dominant sociopolitical fantasy of his life. Even though the
German chiefs perceived him as being racially inferior to them, Tsun was highly motivated and driven
to disprove this socially unjust fantasy. His desire to triumph over racism has led him to find inner
strength in his past. Personally, I am surprised by Tsun s cultivated desire to win over the dominant
fantasy and to resist social injustice. I don t understand how one might

Anthropocentrism And Animal Rights Essay
Outside of secular views about animal rights, two Christian oriented views exist on the subject. The
first is anthropocentrism. The simple definition of the term is man centered (Cairns 29). Adherents of
this view see creation as valuable only if it serves a utilitarian purpose for humanity (Linzey 16).
Humans are seen to be the only creatures who receive direct divine and moral concern, thus making
them superior to any animal (Green 69). Furthermore, the view denies that animals have any rights at
all (Geisler 356 57). Several arguments are made to support this point, such as the fact that animals are
not persons and that humanity is a steward of God s creation, though this does not mean animals have
rights (Linzey 75 77; 86 89). The second Christian oriented view of animal rights is non
anthropocentrism. As the term suggests, the view is the complete opposite of anthropocentrism. Rather
than see humanity as the most significant creature in the universe, non anthropocentrism sees it as a
neighbor to animals because all who share with us the divine spark of conscious life, given by God at
creation, are our neighbors (Phelps 42). Many claims are made to support this premise. ... Show more

No matter what is under consideration, all creation has independent worth and irreducible value
(Geisler 345). Theologically, since God provides for all creation, this means that it all possesses
intrinsic value (Linzey 8 9). Second, the view asserts that animals have souls (Phelps 57). Allegedly,
Genesis chapters one and two indicate that humans and animals have the same life force and divine
breath (58 61; Gen. 1:24; 2:7, 19). Furthermore, it is suspected that Isaiah recorded the presence of
animals in heaven (63; Is. 11:6 9). Therefore, non anthropocentrism claims, animals have souls and

The Mi kmaq Way of Life Mi kmaq was the spelling of a tribe of Indians that had first contact with

A net, called an abi, was made with intertwined tree branches. The bait that they used for fishing was
called wa adegon. Fishhooks were made out of copper or a hook shaped bone that was sharpened at
both ends. For larger fish, a leister was used. This tool was a three pronged spear. There was a center
point and two points that came out on each side of the middle point. Lobsters and shellfish were dug
out of the seabed with sticks and roasted on coals, (Nova Scotia 2 3; Wallis and Wallis 27 28; Davis

Hunting meat changed when the seasons did. During the summer, animals such as moose, caribou,

Sociology Of Sex And Gender Essay

Sociology of sex and gender
Professor Taylor Houston
8th November, 2016.
My beliefs and view on the gender ideology towards work and family is more weighed on one side
(Masculine) and partly on the other (Feminine). It is evident that the Masculine gender is more
dominant in our society and because of this; there is more expectation and responsibility for the
masculine gender. However, there is a continual inclusion trend in which we are witnessing the
feminine gender assume some roles of the masculine gender. But overall, the masculine effect is still
dominant. I personally feel that there should be a good balance of work and family responsibility by
the men. It is necessary that the Men are mostly responsible for taking the role of the breadwinner of
the family therefore, the working hours of the men would have to be met as required by the employer.
For example, working 40 hours a week is the minimum in the US but varies in some other places. In a
case whereby the man has to take an overtime shift just to meet the needs of the family. The core
responsibility of a family depends on both the man and the woman. This also varies depending on the
family. In my opinion, I would expect both genders o take equal responsibility. The feminine gender is
mostly associated with the child care activities and the house chores while the Masculine gender is
associated with the providing for the family and helping the feminine gender. In as much as there will

Prostitution of Minors
Prostitution of minors occurs all around the world. We do not notice because it may not concern us,
and it is difficult to act when something does not affect us in any way. It affects you if you have
children or nieces who are under age right now selling themselves to help out their families who are in
need of money. What would you do right then to help them get out of that situation? That s what s
going on in Europe right now when you visit, is the same thing that is happening in Mexico. There are
many young girls selling themselves because they have to work to support their family. I had a
personal experience with this issue when I took a trip down to Mexico with my cousins once. It was
around 1:00 a.m, and we were heading back to the borderline to cross back into the U.S. On our way
there I saw an empty building that was full of women and children standing outside. I told my cousin
to stop, and I got out of the car to ask a girl who looked to be around 9 or 10 years old, what she was
doing there I will never forget her words, I came here to work to help out with money because right
now I m the only one who can . I told my cousin to help the girl with some money she could go home
for the day, so that she did not have to do this at least for a day. Those words of hers have stuck with
me to this day. Seeing these children out there that have to resort to these acts to support their family
seems unfair because they are not the parents. The parents should be the

Parable Of The Sower By Octavia E. Butler
Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler can be categorized as an environmental novel, a utopian
tale within dystopian tale and hero s journey. A utopian novel is defined as a fiction where readers find
characteristics that they would like to implement in society. This is a novel about a young woman
named Lauren along with others who finds herself in a prisoned like world. They find themselves in a
society where everything is controlled and offers them no possibility of ever living a normal life.
There are no jobs for the young, broken marriages and homes, poor economy and worst yet, constant
fear as thieves and drug addicts rule their lives outside the walls. In this novel we meet a brave young
woman who embarks on the journey to freedom and exhibits the quality as a female leader and also
inspires people to travel with her. This story strongly fits the qualities of a feminist novel as it
illustrates a African American women who is determined to succeed in an exceptionally difficult
circumstance.
To further prove that the Parable of the Sower best fits the qualities of a feminist novel, we must first
understand this genre of novel. Feminist novels, depicts the importance of the feminist movement

It does not fall as a utopian novel as this is a society in which woman are still fighting for their
freedom today. It depicts the character of a woman who embarks on a journey to seek for her freedom.

chose to conform to the standards of society and accept her situation but she decided and defiles all
odds to gain freedom. Lauren fights for the rights of women. She also exhibits great qualities of a
strong female leader throughout the novel. The reader is truly able to experience this world where

Satire Essay On Homeless
Fear is a friend You get on the bus at around 11 PM. Finally, later than you d like. Much, much later.
But at least, tired as you are, you re finally on, headed home for the evening. You hadn t expected the
group meeting for your final project to drag on for so long, but your group got distracted and started
amicably chatting about everything that wasn t related to the project before finally, barely, getting
down to business. Upon leaving the library at last, you realize that you barely accomplished anything
at all. But you don t care about that right now. Right now, you only care about getting home. You
make your way to the back, even though you re one of only two people. This is mostly out of habit,
but also out of preference. You re used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Somehow, surprisingly, it hasn t. You aren t sure that you want to see what would come out if it did.
You text your roommate again, freaking out about what s happening in front of you, but, again, no
reply. No matter. She ll get the full story when you get home, even if you have to wake her up to give
it. You watch in sheer horror as the clear outline of a human hand stretches the black plastic. You can t
see inside, but... Oh god. The implications of what this means hit you all at once, and you can t
breathe. You can t move. You re frozen in fear. You wonder if you should alert the bus driver. On the
one hand, you don t want to let this creep escape with his... captive. But you realize that to get to the
driver, you would have to pass him, and you don t know or want to think of what he would do to you
on your way. Surely he s noticed you by now. Your eyes on his bag. Surely he knows that you saw it.
And you re trapped with him on this bus until one of you gets off. The hopelessness of this situation is
overwhelming, you can t escape, you can t get out, you can t

A STEM education is a necessity in the United States because the country is lacking knowledgeable people in such fields. However, one is better equipped for multiple job and career positions with the addition of a liberal arts education. It is nearly impossible to transition to different careers with only vocational training. In 2003, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development studied math and science literacy among fifteen year olds. The United States was ranked number twenty four in math literacy (Drew 27). They are behind countries such as Finland, Slovak Republic, and Hungary. Likewise, the United States was ranked number nineteen in science literacy (Drew 27). It is obvious that the country is behind. STEM education needs to be reformed at the secondary and post secondary levels of schooling. Katrina Trinko, a member of USA TODAY s Board of Contributors, agrees that more emphasis should be placed on STEM education; however, this emphasis should not be at the sacrifice of a good liberal arts education. She writes, Even technology wizards can become more innovative with a solid background in liberal arts (Trinko 6). A liberal arts education is beneficial to people in all career fields. However, Brazil had incurred an extremely high level of indebtedness due to the support of this massive development program. The high interest rates on dollar funds and the unwillingness of foreign lenders to advance additional loans caused a deep economic recession in Brazil. • 4. Hypotheses On the Origin of Birds Essay Hypotheses On the Origin of Birds Since the advent of the theory of evolution the origin of birds has been a thriving topic in science. Many ideas and hypotheses have been presented, but only two stand today: that birds are descendents of ancient thecodont stem reptiles, and that birds are the direct descendents of a group of dinosaurs known as the coelurosaurs. Both hypotheses pose many interesting and insightful ideas based on information obtained from the fossil record. There is not enough evidence at this time to determine which hypothesis, if either, is right. Only more hard work by scientists will tell. Until then we have only speculation, but speculation based in observed evidence. The origin of birds is one of the great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Theropods are a diverse group of bipedal saurischian dinosaurs (see cladogram). They include the largest terrestrial carnivores ever to have walked the earth. Several characters typify a theropod: hollow bones, three main fingers on the manus (hand), and three main (weight bearing) toes on the pes (foot). Most theropods had sharp, recurved teeth useful for tearing flesh, and claws were present on the ends of all of the fingers and toes (Hutchinson 2000). It is thought that birds are descendents of the group of theropods known as the coelurosaur or maniraptora. (There is debate as to whether these two groups should be one, so for the sake of this paper, I will refer to them as coelurosaurs.) This group can be typified by such species as Velociraptor and Deinonychus (Hutchinson 2000). The other hypothesis is that birds arose much earlier than dinosaurs from a group known to be the ancestors of theropods: the thecodonts (Dingus and Rowe 1998). Thecodonts were small, agile reptiles with long tails and short forelimbs, thought to include the ancestral stock of all other archosaurs, including birds, all dinosaurs, pterosaurs (extinct flying reptiles), and crocodilians (Anonymous 2000). Protestors Kneeling For The Anthem Ever since Kaepernick gained national public attention for sitting through the national anthem in the 2016 NFL season, the topic about the national anthem and the flag s symbolic meanings has been a hot topic. Colin Kaepernick or any other person in the United States has absolutely every right to sit or kneel for the national anthem. The deal here is if it is appropriate for people mostly athletes to protest in the form of sitting or kneeling. The side supporting the protests would argue that the flag or the national anthem represent a democracy that looks down upon people of color. The protestors claim they protest solely for the purpose of achieving social change. I personally believe that there may be some social injustices still around. Protesting in the way of disrespecting the flag or the national anthem is not only morally wrong, but it is unpatriotic and traitorous. I think that the social change protestors are looking for can be achieved through some other type of active protest or actions. Such actions could be getting politically involved with lawmakers, talking with PACs and or lobbying. Soldiers have fought and died for our country leaving behind families and relatives; they did fight for the right for protestors to kneel and sit for the anthem, but I think that protesting in this manner is utterly unacceptable. There seems to be an either yes or no answer when it comes to the question about the morality of protestors kneeling for the anthem. I understand the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Summary Of Little Aster, By Gottfried Benn Reflect on ways in which this poem expresses and develops aspects of the trajectory we have been following in art and literature this semester. Over the course of the semester, a trend that has certainly stuck out to me is that different art movements arise in reaction to the movement of the time. Romanticism arose in response to Neo Classicalism. Realism reacted against what was seen as excessive idealization and de emphasis of the real by the Romantics. Two groups arose in reaction to Realism: the Impressionists, who further developed the idea of conveying the real, and the Symbolists, who harken back to Romanticism s focus on emotions and subjectivity. Additionally, the Symbolists argued that all objects contained meaning within them, and Symbolist writers such as Baudelaire and Mallarme aimed to unlock these meanings in their works. Aestheticism reacted against the Symbolist idea that all objects contain meaning by creating art for art s sake. To the Aestheticists, there was no such thing as underlying meaning beneath an object: there was only surface. In close reading Little Aster, we may catch a glimpse of Gottfried Benn illustrating this trajectory literature progressed toward from Romanticism to Expressionism and the cusp of Modernism. Indeed, Benn takes advantage of literary techniques and sentimentalities to attack the Aestheticist idea that an object is just an object, while also distancing himself from Romanticism s idealization of Nature. In other words, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is first mentioned in the book of Genesis in the fourteenth chapter (See above). He is said to have met Abraham after a battle victory. He blessed Abraham while feeding his men who were famished after the battle. In turn Abraham gave Melchizedek a tenth of his belongings. In Biblical times this was a gesture showing high religious status. This is significant because Melchizedek s name means king of righteousness. The next time Melchizedek is mentioned in the Bible is in one of David s writings in Psalms. It is obvious in Psalm 110 that David held a strong respect for Melchizedek. He is portrayed as a Christ figure due to his extreme righteousness. In the book of Matthew, Melchizedek s priesthood is even put in a category of its own. Informative Speech On Corn In Economics John Morrow Communications 104 Informative Speech Outline 9/21/17 General Purpose: To inform the class of the influence corn has on America s economics. 1. Main Point # 1 Corn s versatility, global demand, and profit margin has led the over grown grass to emerge as America s number one crop. The USDA evaluated corn s crop value to be $76.9 billion in 2011, making it a huge contributor to the American economic system (National Corn Growers Association, 2017). Research gathered by Duke University found that the U.S. produced 40% of the world s supply, 10% of which comes from the small town of Constantine, Michigan while an additional 10% is produced from the surrounding areas ( U.S and Employment, 2015; Motz, T., 2016). These spikes in corn s global demand have created an opportunity for farmers and mid western field workers to become involved in the growing and profitable industry. a. (Sub Point # 1) One major influence on the great increase in the U.S. s corn production is its great economic benefit for our local and national economies through tax revenue and employment. Corn is a subsidized crop in the U.S., meaning that American farmers are paid a guaranteed price by the government, in addition to the profit of their yield, just for growing corn ( U.S and Employment, 2015). The end of the previous generation was in the late 1960 s. This is around the time that blacks and all races were finally gaining equality. • 32. The Origin Of Aboriginal People The Oxford dictionary defines the stolen generation as: The Aboriginal people forcibly removed from their families as children between the 1900s and the 1960s, to be brought up by white foster families or in institutions. But what the Oxford definition cannot tell us is the horrible impacts of the stolen generation on: the stolen children, their families, the Aboriginal culture and Australia as a Nation. The stolen generation was caused by European Australians belief that Aboriginal people were inferior to them, a belief stemming from the fact that the Aboriginal people had not industrialised and therefore they appeared primitive to European Australians who had industrialised in the 1700s. The European Australians also believed that the Aboriginal people were dying out, due to the catastrophic population decline after the European Australians arrived. This decline in the Aboriginal population was mainly caused by the arrival of the European Australians whom brought diseases that they had no immunity for and caused conflict, (such as the frontier wars) that took the lives of many Aboriginal Australians, causing their population to fall from 700 000 in 1788 to 93000 in 1900. Dictionary.com states that invent means to originate or create as a product of one s own ingenuity, experimentation, or contrivance. Firstly, telephones, invented by Alexander Graham Bell, have proven to benefit people in drastic situations. They help one interact from lengthy distances. • 36. Anthropocentrism And Animal Rights Essay Outside of secular views about animal rights, two Christian oriented views exist on the subject. The first is anthropocentrism. The simple definition of the term is man centered (Cairns 29). Adherents of this view see creation as valuable only if it serves a utilitarian purpose for humanity (Linzey 16). Humans are seen to be the only creatures who receive direct divine and moral concern, thus making them superior to any animal (Green 69). Furthermore, the view denies that animals have any rights at all (Geisler 356 57). Several arguments are made to support this point, such as the fact that animals are not persons and that humanity is a steward of God s creation, though this does not mean animals have rights (Linzey 75 77; 86 89). The second Christian oriented view of animal rights is non anthropocentrism. As the term suggests, the view is the complete opposite of anthropocentrism. Rather than see humanity as the most significant creature in the universe, non anthropocentrism sees it as a neighbor to animals because all who share with us the divine spark of conscious life, given by God at creation, are our neighbors (Phelps 42). Many claims are made to support this premise. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Allegedly, Genesis chapters one and two indicate that humans and animals have the same life force and divine breath (58 61; Gen. 1:24; 2:7, 19). Furthermore, it is suspected that Isaiah recorded the presence of animals in heaven (63; Is. 11:6 9). Therefore, non anthropocentrism claims, animals have souls and will be present in ... It is evident that the Masculine gender is more dominant in our society and because of this; there is more expectation and responsibility for the masculine gender. However, there is a continual inclusion trend in which we are witnessing the feminine gender assume some roles of the masculine gender. But overall, the masculine effect is still dominant. It is necessary that the Men are mostly responsible for taking the role of the breadwinner of the family therefore, the working hours of the men would have to be met as required by the employer.
