Looking Glass American Dream Essay
Dreams feel real while we re in them. It s only when we wake up that we realize something was
actually strange. Inception (50 Dream Quotes). Carroll writes Through the Looking Glass based
off of the dream concept. This novel is strange compared to most because of the dream Alice has.
In the beginning, Alice is playing with her kittens. As she drifts off to sleep, Alice goes through the
mirror and enters Looking Glass World. While there, Alice joins a chessgame as a pawn. She
continues across the board and meets all sorts of characters who help Alice in her journey to
become Queen. She meets the Red Queen, White Queen, Humpty Dumpty, and White Knight in
different squares throughout the game. When she reaches the honor of Queen, Alice is... Show more

Alice s main objective throughout the story is to become Queen. She slowly moves step by step
towards her goal, like a pawn would in chess. Carroll gave each chess piece life in Looking Glass
World and empowered them by using them to assist Alice in her quest to become Queen. Carroll
symbolizes Alice s adventure as chess game because he wants to make the point that rules are
needed in life, but fun is still important. Life is just a game, full of arbitrary rules and not nearly
as meaningful as we like to pretend (Games). Alice is criticized by the Red Queen about all the
rules she needs to follow, but Alice wants to live in her adventure and have fun with the odd
characters. Since she is so young and has only limited knowledge of chess, Alice does not
understand the moves being made or the rules of the game. Alice rubbed her eyes, and looked
again. She couldn t make out what had happened at all (Carroll 197). Alice is confused when she
suddenly makes another move many times throughout the book. Carroll symbolizes turns and
twists in Alice s adventures by these chess moves. Many times, she does not understand what is
happening because she is represented as pawn, which would not move like the other

Grolsch Global Strategy Essay
Grolsch s global strategy is based on the MABA process that is described in the case. What is
your opinion of the MABA process?
Though there are great potentials in exploring opportunities overseas, there also can be significant
risks associated with doing business in an unfamiliar environment. Companies need a
comprehensive approach to evaluate the benefits and potential dangers in going global. Grolsch
does so through its homegrown MABA (Market Attractiveness, Business Assessment) framework.
The MABA, as described in the case, is used by Grolsch to judge to rank a country in terms of
investment priority after assessing various factors to judge the distance between the new market
and the home market. At first look, the MABA seems to be... Show more content on

The horizontal integration of Grolsch in SABMiller will help make Grolsch production and
distribution channels more powerful and provide access to new markets. The resources and
capabilities after acquisition should bring competitive advantage to both companies.
пѓ While Grolsch s product oriented model serves it well domestically, to grow globally the
company must adjust marketing strategy to a more geographical approach. Grolsch should invest
more in market analysis in identifying local tastes and preferences, as well as advertising its
products. By keeping in mind the culture, adopting local strategy in brand strategy, and creating
awareness about the product and able to clearly explain why its product is better than that of
competitors.
пѓ The fact of having only one production plant may have its advantages while focusing on
domestic sales, but for a global distribution standpoint this is a disaster waiting to happen. Again by
leveraging SABMiller s channels, Grolsch should think about strategically opening plants or use
SABMiller plants in other countries to brew its beer. Thus, cutting down on shipping and transport

Walpole In The South Sea Bubble
Almost 300 years ago, Britain experienced a catastrophic event. In 1720, the stock of the South
Sea Company, a financing company, dropped roughly 87 percent, resulting in the first ever
international stock market crash. This crash ruined the British economy for a short period, which
caused a rippling effect on Western Europe. While a number of actors would be blamed, both
politicians in 1720 and historians in the three hundred years since have missed a critical piece
connecting the events of that fateful summer. This essay suggests a reconsideration of the crash. It
connects the progression of marine insurance and the Bubble Act of 1720 to member of parliament
Robert Walpole, an actor who has hitherto escaped blame.

While this paper agrees with the broad strokes of Harris s argument, it differs from Harris in its
interpreting of the nature of the relationship. Historians never connected marine insurance or the
Bubble Act of 1720 to Aislabie s downfall, even though the three stories ultimately intertwine
during the period. A close examination of the proceedings of the House of Commons demonstrates
that Aislabie promoted marine insurance companies to take on part of the national debt. Aislabie s
fingerprints were politically on both the South Sea Company and the two marine insurance
companies. Nevertheless, even with Aislabie s corruption, historians have overlooked Robert
Walpole s role in the South Sea Bubble. This thesis will question several decisions made by
Walpole: his motives in standing silently for months in 1720, his reasoning for pushing through the
Bubble Act, and his role in negotiating the South Sea Company out of financial ruin in the fall of
1720. Through these decisions made by Walpole, this thesis will argue that some responsibility
rested on Walpole for the South Sea Bubble

Causes And Consequences Of Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 Diabetes is a chronic life threatening disease that affects individuals from all walks of life.
It affects your bodies natural ability to produce or use insulin which is vital for your body to
function normally. The issue with having type 2 diabetes is that there is no cure, it can only be
controlled through associated medical remedies and a disciplined healthy lifestyle. Before Canadian
Fredrick Banting had discovered a way to produce synthetic insulin, diabetes was considered a death
sentence. Today our society has definitely seen miraculous improvements; since the inception of
insulin, millions have fortunately been able to live out their lives. However, like most medications,

It will be explained why there is such a rising prevalence of type 2 diabetes in Canada by looking at
the fundamental differences between healthy and unhealthy environments and the underlying
factors that cause an individual to be more vulnerable to diabetes. Through a critical analysis of food
security, physical environment and access to health resources for isolated communities, this paper
will prove how certain social determinants in Canada create unhealthy environments that are
responsible for the high prevalence of type 2 diabetes.
Food Security:
An important difference that must be noted between type 1 and type 2 diabetes is that type 1
occurs during adolescence and is not preventable. On the other hand type 2 diabetes can occur at
any age in ones life; however it is preventable through healthy eating, and maintaining an ideal
weight. With that being said it is often easy to blame the onset of type 2 diabetes on a an
individuals lack of motivation to live a healthy active lifestyle, however information from the
Canadian Diabetes Association(2011) explains that type 2 diabetes accounts for 90% of all
cases(CDA, 2011). This proportion raises the notion that we can not just place the blame solely on
the individual; rather the individual is often a product of their environment. It can easily be proven

Sources Of Authority In Antigone
One of the most popular conflicts from classical Greek literature is the one found between
Antigone and Creon in Sophocles play Antigone. After a lethal conflict that left both of Antigone s
brothers dead, Creon ordered that Polyneices (one of Antigone s brothers who fought against Creon
s state) be denied a proper and honorable burial. Antigone opposed Creon s order; her own religious
faith to the Greek Gods demanded that she defy the decree and bury Polynices anyways. This
tension between the two characters proposes an interesting and complex dynamic between the two
different sources of authority. Both attempt argue that their source of authority and the obligation
that are connected with it is more legitimate, thus delegitimizing each other s laws. However, as
stated by Molly Farneth in her essay Gender and the Ethical Given, both of these laws come into
conflict because both authorities are unwilling to compromise and modify their strict standards.
This tension is subsequently caused by a number of factors, and Farneth goes into detail
investigating each of these components, ranging from gender roles in ancient Greeksociety to the
role of ethics in how the law is applied. I agree with the arguments made by Farneth and through
my research, I hope to understand how these sources of authority are viewed by and pursue this
topic in a view focused on justice. There are many interesting question that arise regarding the
relationship between the authority of the law as well

Edm Songs Analysis
Top 10 Best Electronic Dance Music Songs of June MusicSnake One of the newest types of
music is EDM (Electronic Dance Music), which has become extremely popular in only a short
period of time. Here are the top ten EDM songs of June that you should definitely listen to this
summer: Number Ten: Break Free by Ariana Grande feat. Zedd This song is quite a different
style for pop princess Ariana Grande, who is much more used to having traditional pop and some
R B influences in her tracks. Her collaboration with Russian and German producer Zedd is
arguably one of the best songs off of her sophomore album My Everything (2014) because it has
stood the test of time and is still frequently played on the radio today. The chorus is incredibly

However, in my opinion, Gomez does a far better job than Grande with this transition. While
Ariana Grande s voice may technically be far superior, Gomez s voice is definitely more suited
for this particular style. This song falls under the more stereotypical, party themed EDM song,
but is still a great track nonetheless. The fun and playful lyrics of this song include I want you
to know that it s our time / You and me bleed the same light / I want you to know that I m all
yours / You and me are the same force. Number Five: Cool by Alesso feat. Roy English Out of all
of the songs that I discovered at Coachella, this is definitely my favorite. One of the reasons that
this song is so incredible is because it contains so many different electronic melodies that greatly
surprise the listener upon first hearing the track. In addition, this record is an excellent EDM
song because the tempo varies greatly throughout, yet the listener is always engaged. Roy
English sings lyrics such as Before you, love, I was lost / Drifting at sea / You were the beacon I
followed home / You were the one who rescued me that add a romantic aspect to the song as well.

The Final Solution was the term used for the Nazis plan to annihilate the Jewish population
during WWII. The Holocaust was the systematic, bureaucratic, state sponsored, and murder of

How Does Disney Present Beauty In The Little Mermaid
Not only do you see the meaning of beauty that Disney presents in his protagonists, but his
antagonists too. Disney presents beauty trumps everything else is in The Little Mermaid. Ursula,
the antagonist of the story, is depicted as fat, ugly, and mean. This leaves you with the thought
that it is okay to judge a book by its cover. Without knowing the inside truth to Ursula, she is
assumed to be the mean one who takes something very valuable away from Ariel. In Snow White,
the old, unattractive woman tempts her to eat an apple that would kill her. In Cinderella, the three
step sisters and the step mom all have attitudes as mean as their looks. There s no proof that
Disney pushes girls to be overly concerned with looks, but it is definitely an underlying messages
in every one of the princess films.
The way the female body is presented in Disney produced films represents current socio cultural
assumptions of what the female body should look like (Johnson). These princesses reflect social
standards of beauty. To be beautiful you must be young, thin, attractive, and elegant.... Show more

For example, in a toy store the girl and boy aisles are separated. Disney s princess franchise takes a

My Father Research Paper
The person who I consider to be the biggest role model in my life is my father. My father has
been a role model for me ever since I was young, he was the one to show me that if I wanted to
succeed then I had to do so with my own knowledge and with my own capabilities. He was never
the person to shield me from the realities of the world, but at the same time he helped me to
understand what was happening and how these world problems could potentially affect me. He
was the one to show me that life will continue to happen whether or not I was prepared to do so.
My father conveyed to me the importance of searching for opportunities instead of letting them
come to me because life does not work that way. Life is not just going to provide me with help if
I do not give an honest attempt to produce results myself. As a child I looked up to my father,
especially since growing up I was the oldest child of the family. I did not have an older sibling to
look up to and to learn from like my younger siblings which is what made it possible for me to
look up to my father. A main reason that I had for looking up to my father was due to his strong
commitment to go heritage and culture. The fact that my father came to this country as an
immigrant from mexico and he came to this country without anything. No knowledge of the
country and its language, just the basic necessities of life which was some clothes and money,
amazed me. Additionally, my father played as a substantial role model in how I entered society
because of the fact that I grew up not speaking english and so growing up and going to school
was difficult to do since I did not really understand much and it wasn t until a few years of ESL
where I began to pick up english and a more centered idea of the world. As a result, I wanted to
be able to be a good role model for her and to be able to inspire her to follow her dreams and to
have a more optimistic perspective. I considered my father to be my role model because he is
someone who I believe is intelligent, hardworking and honest. He was someone who was always
pushing my sister and I to continue taking challenges that will help us develop into stronger and
knowledgeable young individuals. As an individual who never

Women In Popular Culture
Objective male narration reduces women to apparitions not only in these works, but in most of
today s media. The standard defense for such blatant sexism is that it is a product of its time
(Berlatsky 2). This defense reasons that Conrad and Orwell, who respectively published their
works in 1899 and 1948, could not have been expected to write any differently. By delineating the
past as completely benighted and the present as completely beknighted, contemporary readers
ignore that this issue still exists (Berlatsky 5). Genderinequality persisted in 1899 and through
1948, but it is still around today and will be for centuries to come. Because men were the main
authors and audience in 1899 and 1948, the malenarrative had a monopoly over other perspectives.

Women still experience the same marginalization; the monster just has a different face. The
video game industry serves as a great example of this. Anita Sarkeesian is the founder of
Feminist Frequency, a website hosting video commentary that analyzes the portrayal of women
in popular culture, primarily video games. One of her video series, Video Game Tropes Today,
explains with countless examples the many ways women are objectified and pushed aside in
video games. They become rewards for players; if a player achieves a certain goal, he unlocks
sexual clothing or a racy cut scene depicting the female characters. In addition, Sarkeesian lists
several games that began with a female lead eventually swapped out for a male character during
the design stage. In these games, producers reduce the female lead to a damsel in distress for the
male to rescue. Just like 1984 and Heart of Darkness, these games and most of contemporary media
are meant for male

Summary Of The Charismatic Theology Of Luke-Acts
In The Charismatic Theology of St. Luke, Robert Stronstad adduces a succinct interpretation of the
significance of Holy Spirit according to Lukan theology. He examines both the Spirit s activity in
Luke Acts and the implications of the Gift of the Spirit in empowering, equipping, and
commissioning of Gods people for service. The text is separated into six sections covering the Holy
Spiritin Luke Acts , the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament , the Holy Spirit in the Gospel of Luke ,
The Holy Spirit at Pentecost , The Holy Spirit in the Acts of the Apostles and the Charismatic

observes the Spirit in the infancy narrative, inauguration narrative and various texts dispersed
throughout his Gospel. A central motif within this section is Jesusfulfillment of Old testament
prophetic trajectories. Next, Stronstad addresses the charismatic community and The Holy Spirit at
Pentecost . He asserts: The Pentecost narrative is the story of the transfer of the charismatic Spirit
from Jesus to the disciples. [...] By this transfer of the Spirit, the disciples become the heirs and
successors to the earthly charismatic ministry of Jesus (Stronstad, 55). Additionally, he stresses the
complexity of the gift of the Spirit. The event that transpired at Pentecost can be described as but

Apostles chronicles the rapid advancement of the Gospel by way of the gift of the Holy Spirit. The

Similarities and Differences amongst Multiple Sclerosis...
There are differences and similarities between multiple sclerosis and muscular dystrophy. Multiple
sclerosis is understood to be an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system.
However, muscular dystrophy is a genetic disorder that affects the peripheral nervous system.
Multiple sclerosis is seen as progressing asymmetrically from the loss of myelin. Likewise,
muscular dystrophypresents with a symmetrical wasting of the muscle and distribution of weakness.
Muscular dystrophy is a group of similar conditions that affect the voluntary muscles. Multiple
sclerosis is often diagnosed in the late twenties while muscular dystrophy offsets in young and
adolescent aged individuals.
Multiple Sclerosis occurs as a result of demyelination of the axons within the central nervous system
and neuronal loss.1 The immune system produces antibodies that attack oligodendrocytes. When
the oligodendrocytes are destroyed, they produce patches of demyelination referred to as plaques.2
(p.41) These plaques are found in the white matter of the central nervous system. With the loss of
myelination of neurons, the transmission of signals may become slowed or blocked.2(p.41)
Communication between the brain, spinal cord, and other areas of the body are hindered.3 Multiple
sclerosis may result in the deterioration of the myelin surrounding the nerves, and also the nerves
themselves. Unfortunately, this disease process is irreversible, incurable and often debilitating.3

Verbal and Nonverbal Communication
Verbal and Nonverbal Communication
When we are attempting to transfer our meaning to another person, we use three different modes,
methods, or channels to carry our intentions. We use these modes to tell people who we are, how
we experience the world, and the meaning we attach to our experience. We communicate verbally
and nonverbally, and often with mixed signals or noise.
When two persons, A and B, are attempting to communicate with each other, their communication
is distorted by their personalities, attitudes, values, belief systems, biases, the assumptions they are
making about each other, their experience, background, and so on. A s communication to B flows
through A s screen and through B s screen. When B responds to A, B is... Show more content on

There are a number of forms of body language. Ambulation is a first form. We associate different
meanings to different ways people carry their bodies from one place to another. How one carries
her body, whether she glides, strides, stomps, etc. tells a great deal about who she is and how she is
experiencing her environment.
Touching is perhaps the most powerful nonverbal communication form. The skin is the body s
largest organ, and through the skin we take in a variety of stimuli. We can communicate anger,
interest, trust, tenderness, warmth, and a variety of other emotions very potently through touching.
People differ, however, in their willingness to touch and be touched. Some people give out
nonverbal body signals that say that they do not want to be touched, and there are other people who
describe themselves and are described by others as touchy feely. There are many taboos associated
with this form of communication. Persons can learn about their own personalities and self concepts
through exploring their reactions to touching and being touched.
Eye contact is a third form of nonverbal communication. We tend to size each other up in terms of
trustworthiness through reactions to each other s eye contact. Try a little experiment with
yourself. Remember the last time you were driving down the road and passed a hitch hiker. The
odds are very high that you did not look him in the eye if you passed him up.

Analysis Of A Doll House By Henry James
In Daisy Miller by Henry James the author takes us on an adventure of a self centered American
woman who has no desire to conform to society. On the contrary in A Dolls House, Henrik Ibsen
shows Nora as woman who is also not bothered by society, but for less selfish reasons. Both
women are willing to do what is necessary for Daisy it is what is necessary to fulfill her own
needs and for Nora what is necessary to fulfill the needs of the ones she loves. Despite the motives
of both women, each author shows the empowerment behind each character. James and Ibsen
discuss how the power of women is portrayed through independence, courage and innocence.
Independence is something everyone craves but may not always achieve. Your roots may grow this
characteristic early in life or a life changing event may cause you to seek it. Daisy Miller travels
throughout Europe unchaperoned until she comes across a gentleman, Winterbourne. James sets
the tone of Daisy s adventures after she meets Winterbourne by noting, A young man was not at
liberty to speak to a young unmarried lady except under certain rarely occurring conditions (pg 5),
which shows the outlook of the European Society. Despite the European ways, Daisy engaging with
Winterbourne shows her independence from society. On the other hand, Nora plays the
domesticated womanhowever, Nora s independence is not portrayed as her roots as it is for Daisy.

The overall prognosis of this tumor is not optimistic with mean survival sitting between 6 and 11

significant neurologic complications of radiation to the developing brain, physicians are often
hesitant to radiate. Furthermore, the efficacy of chemotherapy has been historically difficult to

Historically, rhabdoid tumors have been difficult to diagnose given their heterogeneous nature.
When using histological features alone, these tumors would often times be diagnosed as
medulloblastoma or PNET [54]. Now, these tumors must be positive for mutations in INI1 or

diagnosing these tumors, which in turn will lead to more homogenous groups of patients to better

Allusions In Cry The Beloved Country
Cry, the Beloved Country is a novel written by Alan Paton; the novel is filled with biblical
allusions referring to II Samuel. Cry, the Beloved Country was first published in 1948 and
stands as the single most important novel in twentieth century South African literature. Cry, the
Beloved Country; a work of blazing artistry, is the intensely moving story of the Zulu pastor
Stephen Kumalo and his son Absalom, and how they were set against the background of a land
and a people divided by racial injustice. Cry, the Beloved Country is a classic work of love and
hope, courage and endurance, born of the dignity of man. The author, Alan Paton parallels II
Samuel and Cry, the Beloved Country which heightens the understanding of the novel. In the
paralleled biblical story Absalom is described as handsome, therefore not a single blemish
appears on his skin; he wears his hair short and altogether it weighs more than two pounds.
Tamar, who is the parallel of Gertrude is described as very attractive and she wears a long sleeved
gown; as often worn by virgin princesses. Now Absalom, Davids son, had a beautiful sister, whose
name was Tamar. ( 2 Samuel 13 N.P.) Nevertheless, their attractiveness does not impede their
crimes.

How Do Immigration Laws Affect The Economy
The immigration laws of the United States have caused many negative effects on the economy.
Illegal immigration has been an issue in the United States depending on how we look at it since this
country was founded. President Obama and the Democrats fought for the DREAM Act, legislation
ensuring that young people who want to contribute fully to our society and serve our country are
able to become legal residents and ultimately citizens. Although this bill has a long history of
bipartisan support, Republicans decided to play politics with it rather than do the right thing. So the
Obama administration provided temporary relief for youth who came to the United Statesas
children, through no fault of their own, grew up as Americans and are poised to make a real

countries, I personally feel that we should not only target one nationality or minority that breaks
these laws. Just because we re and unequivocal and supportive country doesn t mean we can take

follow these laws. Many economists say the effect of illegal immigration is an estimated 11 million

is imprisoned at the police station. Therefore, she has become morbidly obese and spends out her

Sexual Education And Sex Education
The purpose of this paper is to explain the importance of sexual education and describe differences
and similarities in some of the research done on this topic. Having sexual education available to
youth is the key in reducing the number of unwanted situations in the sexual health of the
individuals. Teaching adolescents about sex is beneficial because they become aware of
consequence that might follow specific actions. This is a chance to ensure adolescents take safer
routes when deciding to become sexually active. Youth sexual education has been correlated with
preventing unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Many schools have
sexual education programs but many teenage pregnancies that are unplanned and STIs are
occurring. One reason could be because very few of these sexual education programs are attending
to the traditional social norms around sexuality and gender. It is important to consider and focus on
the traditional social norms because findings in previous studies have found those that hold
traditional social beliefs around gender and sexuality, are at greater risks of negative sexual health
consequences. Adolescents should be given the opportunity to receive the proper sexual education
in order to eliminate negative sexual health consequences. Researchers have found that individuals
in sexual education programs that address traditional social norms and the effects of these beliefs,
are less likely to agree with hegemonic masculinity

The Effect Of Ph On The Ph Of A Solution
pH is a measure of the concentration of the H3O+ ions in a solution, and buffers are solutions
that resist changes in the pH when an acid or an alkali is added. The objective of this lab was to
determine the ways in which a buffer could effect changes in pH of a solution. This was done
through titrations of phosphate solutions, acidic HCl, and basic NaOH, with distilled water. The
intent was to note the changes caused by the buffer by observing the buffering range and buffering
capacity from the standard curved created from the pHreadings. A buffering range is the pH range
in which a buffer has effectively neutralized the acids and bases, while maintaining a constant pH.
Buffering capacity, on the other hand is the measure of the efficiency of buffer in its resistance to
pH change. Therefore, a good buffer with a high buffering capacity should be able to resist the
changes in pH well. If the buffer solutionis titrated with a strong acid, HCl, then the pH of the
solution will decrease slowly, maintaining a constant pH value due to the presence of buffers
(instead of the pH dropping in a linear line with huge values.) Likewise, if the mixture containing
buffer solution, and water are titrated with a strong base, NaOH, then the pH of the solution will
increase at a steady increments instead of the pH values shooting up in big numbers in a linear line.
In order to test this, method of serial dilution was first utilized to find the amount of buffer solution
needed for the

The Spiral Road Summary
The Spiral Road is a perceptive series bringing together the humanistic view of the rise of the
People Republic of China. Usually history is dictated, but Huang s ethnographic work is not just
another text of narration. Huang makes the readers know history should be concerned with the
people involved, as much as it looks at the overarching politics. The book can be considered a
series of stories that staunchly describes the continuing revolution innate to the countryside of the
PRC by this time in the late 1990 s. Huang s relationship with Ye, the local party leader, and both
of their spirit in storytelling, one for work and another for self gratification, provides the book
with an appropriate framework. Huang immerses himself in a culture that is isolated, but it is
slowly opening up to the rest of the world. As a scholar his work is remarkable in bringing light to

Indian Removal Act Of 1830
Indian Removal Act of 1830 The Indian Removal Act was signed into law on May 28th 1930
during the presidency of Andrew Jackson. Perhaps best known as the black eye of the
administration and overshadowing his presidency s accomplishments, the Indian Removal Act
was passed into law to allow the president to negotiate with Indians to purchase land they
occupied and offer them lands west of the Mississippi. The Indian Removal Act of 1830 could
also amount to pure greed and racism, the beginning of the arrogance of Americans in the belief
that we deserve to take something just because we want it. Expansion By the early 1800 s with the
Constitution firmly in place and the economy recovering, the population was growing. The settlers
desire to expand further West and south met many hazards, the largest of which being the Native
Americans that occupied those lands. Settlers were eager to raise large cotton and tobacco
plantations and Native Americans were seen as an obstacle. The Indian Removal Act was the
result of the settlers petitioning the government for more land and protection from the Savage
Indians to the south and west in present day Mississippi and Alabama although there were few
unprovoked attacks at the time. The need for land to grow more cash crops was all consuming. An
argument could be made that President Jackson held a personal grudge against the Natives,

The Theory Of Moral Behavior
The statement claims that no question can ever be neutral. This means that all questions are leading
questions, that we always have a notion of the knowledge we find. The definition of neutral in the
English dictionary is: not supporting either side in a conflict, disagreement: impartial 1. It means
being detached and impersonal to situations, questions or judgements. Mathematics, as an area of
knowledge is said to be a subject that already exists in the natural world, only that we discover its

outcome of any research is anticipated before the actual final result.
When I ask someone a question, I as the inquirer, will usually expect a certain type of answer, or
there will be a particular type or model of answer expected for that question. For queries, question
or any uncertainties, the world almost always has a stipulated answer, that if not correct, is at least
widely accepted the majority rules! An inquirer tends to have a bias towards his or her questions.
Logic and rational thinking are involved before the answer is given. Even the essay I am writing

we can incorporate any private opinions or knowledge by acquaintance. We tend to know that

Examples Of Personal Responsibility
John DeManuelle

Personal Responsibility
To be successful you must be responsible for your actions. Personal responsibility is having
integrity, and taking ownership for your actions. Doing the right thing will demonstrate being
personally responsible and will result in a successful experience in life.
Personal responsibility is taking ownership of your thoughts and actions. To me, personal
responsibility is having integrity. What I mean by this is being trustworthy, to do the right thing all
the time. For example, plagiarizing work, if someone is trustworthy they will do their own work,
rather than copy someone else s and turning that work in for a grade. If someone is to have
integrity, they will also report any wrong doings that they are aware of. If you know of someone
that is cheating or plagiarizing and you do not report the incident, you are just as much at fault as
the other person. Above would be another example of what I believe personal responsibility means,
doing the right thing even though it may not be the popular thing to do. Accountability is another
trait of being personally responsible. Being accountable means not blaming others for your choices
or lack of choices. If you choose not to complete an assignment it is your own fault and there is no
one to blame but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Without being responsible you will not be successful in college, which means that the best

U.S Slavery History and North Korean Life
Slavery was, and is, the mistreatment of people as property. Slavery in British colonies dates all
the way back to 1619 when African Americans first arrived in Jamestown, Virginia. As soon as
the African Americans arrived they were no longer considered to be human . Slaves were
property; therefore they could be traded and sold. Slaves were cruelly whipped if they did
something their master did not approve of. Some slave owners were so violent that they whipped
their slaves until they bled and then they would rub salt into the wounds. Morosely, slaves were so
horribly mistreated, some chose to take their own lives over continuing to be a slave. In 1863,
Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation which ended slaveryonce and... Show

This network of helping hands aided in hundreds of slaves escaping to freedom each year.
Escaping to The North was extremely hard. Many houses were 10 to 20 miles apart, which meant
slaves had to move fast! Harriet Tubman helped 300 slaves achieve freedom within 19 trips. North
Korea also has a very helpful underground railroad. The North Korean Underground Railroad is a
horrendous path across China that leads to South Korea. It is a treacherous path because China sends
about 200 North Korean refugees back to North Korea each day. As soon as North Koreans are
sent back, they either end up in jail, in a prison camp or are killed. Similar to white people
helping African American slaves escape to freedom, many Chinese and South Korean people try
and help North Koreans escape as well. China does not want refugees to live in their country.
Surprisingly, 300 thousand North Korean refugees live in China because they managed to
escape. Along the dangerous journey through China, there are houses and helpers for those
escaping North Korea. It is a shame that some people and countries are afraid to help North
Koreans because of all the powerful weapons that North Korea has acquired. In conclusion,
underground railroads have helped, and still are, helping many individuals and families have a
better life. Thankfully, as soon as slaves reached Canada, or any free Northern U.S state, they were
completely free. A few slaves feared that their owner was

Adolf Hitler And The Nazi Regime
I have read a lot of interesting books, but I ve never been quite fond of history books. However for
my American History class I read: People Who Made History; Adolf Hitler, and I have to say this
book was rather interesting. This book gave a lot of background and history to Adolf s childhood,
along with his military strategies, as well as his rise and fall as leader of the Nazi regime. This
book was incredibly descriptive, and passionately written, even though it was a fact based book
one really feel like they could see into the mind of Adolf Hitler. As horrible of a person he was, his
ambition was probably one of the most terrifying things about him. Adolf Hitler, born April 20th,
1898 was baptized as a Catholic. Hitlers father,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hitler had a way with words, he was one of the best public speakers know to date, most said he
spoke with such emotion, he was one of the few leaders at the time that could really rally a
crowd. He was speaking to masses of people who were economically downtrodden after losing
the first world war. People during this era were looking for someone or something to grab hold
of, and Hitler appeared to the German people as such a trustworthy and upfront politician, that he
became their Savior. Thus this horrific man wormed his way into the hearts and minds of an
entire nation. Hitler deceived the Germans all along, realizing that he had to become popular, he
heavily abused his power. He began his plan with baby steps, starting by getting the people on his
side, and keeping them there. He successfully accomplished this by referring to them as comrades
and fellow German folk , this boosted national pride for the losers of World War I
. The German
people never feared Hitler they loved him like a brother or father. Even when they knew people
were being killed, simply because they were mentally ill or for some other imperfection, the people
were too blind to believe that hitler was behind it.
Hitler was bound and determined to start a second world war. He wanted to show the world
germany s superiority, he wanted to develop the ultimate race on earth, pure german. He would
achieve this by slaughtering anyone that didn t fit this criteria, which included blond hair, blue

An Overview Of Business Intelligence
An Overview of Business Intelligence All great organizations share one thing in common, the use of
business intelligence. Business intelligence (BI) provides tools that revolutionize the way
organizations manage business and decision making. It allows them to transform mass amounts of
raw data into reliable information necessary to make important business decisions. BI delivers
relevant and reliable information to those who seek it with the goal of achieving better decisions
faster. An employee is independently able to navigate through a company s data and find what he
or she needs without relying on others. This means an organization no longer needs to dig through
compiled webs of linked spreadsheets, analyze the data manually and mash together reports.
Instead, employees can use BI systems to request the specific information that is useful for them
(Hitachi Solutions Canada, 2014). BI allows managers to reach the most accurate and
contemporaneous information an organization s database cannot retrieve. The software offers
applications for both data analysis and presentation of results. Applications such as data mining and
decision support systems allow one to contemplate how he or she wants to analyze the data. Data
mining refers to the process of searching for valuable business information in a large database, data
warehouse, or data mart. Decision support systems combine models and data in an attempt to
analyze semi structured and some unstructured problems with

The Social Discourse Of Bipolar Disorder
The social discourse of bipolar disorder is often punctuated by the classic manic episodes
manifesting as symptoms such as distractibility, pressured speech, decreased need for sleep,
euphoric mood, grandiosity, and problems with impulse control [17]. These classic periods of
high energy are often intertwined in a cyclical fashion with periods of depressive symptoms,
much of the time meeting criteria for major depressive disorder, as well as periods with no
symptoms [17]. The frequency by which a patient moves through these states varies greatly
from weeks to months to as little as a few days, namely rapid cycling [17]. In addition to manic
episodes, hypomanic episodes, characterized by similar symptoms but less severe symptoms
than manic episodes, qualify the disease as bipolar II disorder instead of bipolar I which needs
the criteria of manic episodes alternating with major depressive episodes [17]. Another subtype
of bipolar disorder, cyclothymia, is characterized by depressive episodes that do not meet
criteria for a major depressive episode but does consist of cycling with previously described
hypomanic episodes [11]. While the stigma of manic episodes plagues patients with bipolar
disorder, often the depressive episodes are what cause the most distress and impairment in daily
functioning of patients with bipolar disorder [12]. The burden of bipolar disorder, which has an
estimated prevalence of 4% worldwide, permeates throughout all aspects of society from the

Various Aspects Of Augmented Reality Essay
1) Introduction
The purpose of this report is to explain various aspects of Augmented Reality. This Report briefly
describes the technology used, types, applications, cost of implementation, merits and demerits of
Augmented Reality.
Suppose you have a gadget, which displays information about the things you look at. For example,
you focus on a hotel and it displays everything available on internet about that hotel like its menu
and reviews by customers, or points towards a stranger sitting in front of you in the bus and it
displays his facebook profile etc. Not only these things this technology has much greater
possibilities. Figure 1: Retrieved from http://images.google.com/
Augmented reality (AR) is the combined view of our surrounding with digital information
superimposed on it. It superimposes details about that particular thing available on internet, some
images and videos and GPS data. As a result, this technology improves the user s ability to see
the real world things by providing all necessary details in front of his eyes to him. The major point
that distinguish Augmented Reality from Virtual Reality is that Virtual Reality completely
overlaps the real world with simulated one while Augmented Reality allows the user to view the
real world with just small alterations to include details of particular things. So, from user s point
of view both real and virtual world would exist at same place. The advance augmented reality
technology can recognise various types of

Archduke Ferdinand Causes
It is taught in social studies classes around the world that the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand
of Austria Hungary was the direct cause of World War One, but there were actually many
underlying causes that led up to the start of the war. What many people fail to realize is that the
many underlying causes that were already prevalent were the real cause of the war. The underlying
causes can be broken down into four subcategories: militarism, alliances, imperialism, and
nationalism. The assassination of Archduke Ferdinand was one of the first effects evident of the
war, it was the first casualty of the war. Militarism is the first underlying cause; it s all about
nations glorifying war and their military. Militarism means that the army... Show more content on

Imperialism is when a country takes over new lands or countries and makes them subject to their
rule. ( World War One Causes ). Some countries took over other lands for natural resources/raw
materials that they needed to make industrial goods, just like Japan did in the twentieth century.
Other countries such as Germany conquered colonies because they wanted an empire. This caused
conflict over colonies, especially in Africa. ( Long term underlying causes of war 1). In the 19th
century, Europeans started to explore The Dark Continent known as Africa. Africa was known as
The Dark Continent because no one has explored it yet. European countries starting taking over
African colonies in this Scramble for Africa once their missionaries started to explore Africa, and
come back to their countries with reports of abundant natural resources such as gold, ivory, and salt.
With many world powers competing to get the most colonies they can, conflicts between nations
surfaced. This was seen during the Boer War, which was between the British and Dutch with the
help of Germany fighting over South Africa. This now sparked a new tension between the British
and the Germans. The more colonies owned by a nation, the more powerful the nation seemed. This
is the reason the Austro Hungarian empire annexed Bosnia Herzegovina in 1908. The annexation
greatly inflamed Serbian nationalism. ( Background to World War

Advantages Of Debit Card Vs Credit Card
The Advantages of Debit Card versus Credit Card The advantages of debit card versus credit
cards used by young adults are debit cards will not allow you to mismanage, overspend or go
into debt. The most common explanation for credit card debt for people under the age of 25.
Demographic and credit trends show that young people, and in particular students, may be the
next segment of credit users that will face difficult financial times. In the United States, there are
19.1 million students who are attending colleges and universities (US Department of Education
2009). They account for approximately 6% of a population of 308 million people (US Census
Bureau 2011). On average, students possess 4.6 credit cards (SallieMae 2009). They also owe
more on their credit cards than they did just a few years ago; in 2004, students owed, on average,
$2,900 on credit cards whereas in 2009 this figure soared by 78% to $4,100 (SallieMae 2009).
Moreover, young consumers account for the second largest rate of bankruptcy in the United States
(Sullivan, Thorne, and Warren 2001). Together, these figures suggest that young adult consumers in
America spend more with their credit cards than they should. In addition, research shows that credit
carddebtis associated with financial stress (Grable and Joo 2006) as well as poor academic
achievement (Pinto, Parente, and Palmer 2001). The desire to use credit as a form of payment but
with no steady income available to repay the credit line. For

How Does Upton Sinclair Use Ethos In The Jungle
In the the Jungle the author Upton Sinclair uses ethos, pathos and imagery to expose the meat

Mental Rotation Of Images Essay
Abstract
The idea of mental imagery has always been a controversial subject in the field of psychology.
Many psychologists have argued that such a concept is impossible to measure because it can not be
directly observed. Though they are right about this, it is not impossible to measure how quickly
mental rotations of images are processed in our brains. Subjects in this experiment were presented
two shapes simultaneously, via computer screen, and asked to make judgement, as quickly as
possible, as to whether the two shapes presented were the same or mirror images. Two different
shapes were used in this experiment, each given as often as the other. During each trial one shape
remained stationary and the other was rotated with varying ... Show more content on

Of the 66 students 30 took part in the mental rotation condition and 30 in the manual rotation
condition.
As expected, findings showed that there was in fact a strong relationship between the reaction times
of the mental and manual rotations. As the angular disparity of both the mental and manual
rotations increased so did reaction times. In almost all cases manual and mental reaction times
matched each other. It was also observed by Wohlschlager amp; Wohlschlager (1998), that manual
object rotation did not always follow the shortest path. Findings showed that in some trials students
rotated images the longer way around. Thus, it was concluded that mental processes also rotate
things the long way around, since reaction times did not differ much between the two groups,
ultimately supporting their original hypothesis.
Desrocher, Smith amp; Taylor (1995) conducted a similar experiment with intentions of measuring
reaction times. Only in this experiment the independent variable was not mental vs. manual
rotation, but gender. They were interested in seeing if gender differences played a role in regard to
reaction times, when presented with either a letter stimuli or picture stimuli. It has been noted that
up to the present time, there have been no major findings that show any significant difference in the
way men and woman process letter images. In tests, both men and woman performed equally well

Personal Narrative Essay On Brown s Jazz Concert
The second weekend in April was solely dedicated to Brown s jazz festival, which he was very
proud to call the largest jazz festival within the county. Honestly, no one knew if he was telling
the truth or not, but it was best to just nod your head and agree with him. Especially now that he
was reiterating this fact right before we were supposed to go and perform for said jazz festival.
He did this very same thing last night too. The sixteen of us in Jazz One, indicated by the ugly
yellow polo shirts, stood in a circle around Brown, who was ranting away about how much he
loved his festival after he finished tuning all of us. I stopped listening to him after a minute, I
was far more focused on the jitters I was feeling in the pit of my stomach. Tonight was my night.
Brendan was right about Brown going with three altos for Jazz One; Brown insisted it was
because we all sounded so good together, I knew it was because we were all seniors. Brendan, as
planned, was granted the part of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

collection of tiny dark specks I was looking out at past Brown s wide yellow clad torso. Zoe had
pulled the music stand in front of us into position, flipping through the pages in the folder and
finding the song and the solo page. She handed the latter to me. I grabbed it hard, crinkling the side.
And Brown began counting the tempo. Brendan stood and went over to the music stand. I would
follow after twenty measures. We lifted our instruments into playing position, and I bit down hard
into my mouthpiece. Brown was snapping his fingers softly and began to mouth the tempo. I let my

  • 2. Looking Glass American Dream Essay Dreams feel real while we re in them. It s only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange. Inception (50 Dream Quotes). Carroll writes Through the Looking Glass based off of the dream concept. This novel is strange compared to most because of the dream Alice has. In the beginning, Alice is playing with her kittens. As she drifts off to sleep, Alice goes through the mirror and enters Looking Glass World. While there, Alice joins a chessgame as a pawn. She continues across the board and meets all sorts of characters who help Alice in her journey to become Queen. She meets the Red Queen, White Queen, Humpty Dumpty, and White Knight in different squares throughout the game. When she reaches the honor of Queen, Alice is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alice s main objective throughout the story is to become Queen. She slowly moves step by step towards her goal, like a pawn would in chess. Carroll gave each chess piece life in Looking Glass World and empowered them by using them to assist Alice in her quest to become Queen. Carroll symbolizes Alice s adventure as chess game because he wants to make the point that rules are needed in life, but fun is still important. Life is just a game, full of arbitrary rules and not nearly as meaningful as we like to pretend (Games). Alice is criticized by the Red Queen about all the rules she needs to follow, but Alice wants to live in her adventure and have fun with the odd characters. Since she is so young and has only limited knowledge of chess, Alice does not understand the moves being made or the rules of the game. Alice rubbed her eyes, and looked again. She couldn t make out what had happened at all (Carroll 197). Alice is confused when she suddenly makes another move many times throughout the book. Carroll symbolizes turns and twists in Alice s adventures by these chess moves. Many times, she does not understand what is happening because she is represented as pawn, which would not move like the other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Grolsch Global Strategy Essay Grolsch s global strategy is based on the MABA process that is described in the case. What is your opinion of the MABA process? Though there are great potentials in exploring opportunities overseas, there also can be significant risks associated with doing business in an unfamiliar environment. Companies need a comprehensive approach to evaluate the benefits and potential dangers in going global. Grolsch does so through its homegrown MABA (Market Attractiveness, Business Assessment) framework. The MABA, as described in the case, is used by Grolsch to judge to rank a country in terms of investment priority after assessing various factors to judge the distance between the new market and the home market. At first look, the MABA seems to be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The horizontal integration of Grolsch in SABMiller will help make Grolsch production and distribution channels more powerful and provide access to new markets. The resources and capabilities after acquisition should bring competitive advantage to both companies. пѓ While Grolsch s product oriented model serves it well domestically, to grow globally the company must adjust marketing strategy to a more geographical approach. Grolsch should invest more in market analysis in identifying local tastes and preferences, as well as advertising its products. By keeping in mind the culture, adopting local strategy in brand strategy, and creating awareness about the product and able to clearly explain why its product is better than that of competitors. пѓ The fact of having only one production plant may have its advantages while focusing on domestic sales, but for a global distribution standpoint this is a disaster waiting to happen. Again by leveraging SABMiller s channels, Grolsch should think about strategically opening plants or use SABMiller plants in other countries to brew its beer. Thus, cutting down on shipping and transport ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Walpole In The South Sea Bubble Almost 300 years ago, Britain experienced a catastrophic event. In 1720, the stock of the South Sea Company, a financing company, dropped roughly 87 percent, resulting in the first ever international stock market crash. This crash ruined the British economy for a short period, which caused a rippling effect on Western Europe. While a number of actors would be blamed, both politicians in 1720 and historians in the three hundred years since have missed a critical piece connecting the events of that fateful summer. This essay suggests a reconsideration of the crash. It connects the progression of marine insurance and the Bubble Act of 1720 to member of parliament Robert Walpole, an actor who has hitherto escaped blame. The South Sea Company ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While this paper agrees with the broad strokes of Harris s argument, it differs from Harris in its interpreting of the nature of the relationship. Historians never connected marine insurance or the Bubble Act of 1720 to Aislabie s downfall, even though the three stories ultimately intertwine during the period. A close examination of the proceedings of the House of Commons demonstrates that Aislabie promoted marine insurance companies to take on part of the national debt. Aislabie s fingerprints were politically on both the South Sea Company and the two marine insurance companies. Nevertheless, even with Aislabie s corruption, historians have overlooked Robert Walpole s role in the South Sea Bubble. This thesis will question several decisions made by Walpole: his motives in standing silently for months in 1720, his reasoning for pushing through the Bubble Act, and his role in negotiating the South Sea Company out of financial ruin in the fall of 1720. Through these decisions made by Walpole, this thesis will argue that some responsibility rested on Walpole for the South Sea Bubble ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through a critical analysis of food security, physical environment and access to health resources for isolated communities, this paper will prove how certain social determinants in Canada create unhealthy environments that are responsible for the high prevalence of type 2 diabetes. Food Security: An important difference that must be noted between type 1 and type 2 diabetes is that type 1 occurs during adolescence and is not preventable. On the other hand type 2 diabetes can occur at any age in ones life; however it is preventable through healthy eating, and maintaining an ideal weight. With that being said it is often easy to blame the onset of type 2 diabetes on a an individuals lack of motivation to live a healthy active lifestyle, however information from the Canadian Diabetes Association(2011) explains that type 2 diabetes accounts for 90% of all cases(CDA, 2011). • 7. Sources Of Authority In Antigone One of the most popular conflicts from classical Greek literature is the one found between Antigone and Creon in Sophocles play Antigone. After a lethal conflict that left both of Antigone s brothers dead, Creon ordered that Polyneices (one of Antigone s brothers who fought against Creon s state) be denied a proper and honorable burial. Antigone opposed Creon s order; her own religious faith to the Greek Gods demanded that she defy the decree and bury Polynices anyways. This tension between the two characters proposes an interesting and complex dynamic between the two different sources of authority. Both attempt argue that their source of authority and the obligation that are connected with it is more legitimate, thus delegitimizing each other s laws. However, as stated by Molly Farneth in her essay Gender and the Ethical Given, both of these laws come into conflict because both authorities are unwilling to compromise and modify their strict standards. This tension is subsequently caused by a number of factors, and Farneth goes into detail investigating each of these components, ranging from gender roles in ancient Greeksociety to the role of ethics in how the law is applied. I agree with the arguments made by Farneth and through my research, I hope to understand how these sources of authority are viewed by and pursue this topic in a view focused on justice. Here are the top ten EDM songs of June that you should definitely listen to this summer: Number Ten: Break Free by Ariana Grande feat. Zedd This song is quite a different style for pop princess Ariana Grande, who is much more used to having traditional pop and some R B influences in her tracks. While Ariana Grande s voice may technically be far superior, Gomez s voice is definitely more suited for this particular style. This song falls under the more stereotypical, party themed EDM song, but is still a great track nonetheless. The fun and playful lyrics of this song include I want you to know that it s our time / You and me bleed the same light / I want you to know that I m all yours / You and me are the same force. Number Five: Cool by Alesso feat. Roy English Out of all of the songs that I discovered at Coachella, this is definitely my favorite. One of the reasons that this song is so incredible is because it contains so many different electronic melodies that greatly surprise the listener upon first hearing the track. In addition, this record is an excellent EDM song because the tempo varies greatly throughout, yet the listener is always engaged. Roy English sings lyrics such as Before you, love, I was lost / Drifting at sea / You were the beacon I followed home / You were the one who rescued me that add a romantic aspect to the song as well. Disney presents beauty trumps everything else is in The Little Mermaid. Ursula, the antagonist of the story, is depicted as fat, ugly, and mean. This leaves you with the thought that it is okay to judge a book by its cover. Without knowing the inside truth to Ursula, she is assumed to be the mean one who takes something very valuable away from Ariel. In Snow White, the old, unattractive woman tempts her to eat an apple that would kill her. In Cinderella, the three step sisters and the step mom all have attitudes as mean as their looks. There s no proof that Disney pushes girls to be overly concerned with looks, but it is definitely an underlying messages in every one of the princess films. • 13. My Father Research Paper The person who I consider to be the biggest role model in my life is my father. My father has been a role model for me ever since I was young, he was the one to show me that if I wanted to succeed then I had to do so with my own knowledge and with my own capabilities. He was never the person to shield me from the realities of the world, but at the same time he helped me to understand what was happening and how these world problems could potentially affect me. He was the one to show me that life will continue to happen whether or not I was prepared to do so. My father conveyed to me the importance of searching for opportunities instead of letting them come to me because life does not work that way. Life is not just going to provide me with help if I do not give an honest attempt to produce results myself. As a child I looked up to my father, especially since growing up I was the oldest child of the family. I did not have an older sibling to look up to and to learn from like my younger siblings which is what made it possible for me to look up to my father. A main reason that I had for looking up to my father was due to his strong commitment to go heritage and culture. The fact that my father came to this country as an immigrant from mexico and he came to this country without anything. No knowledge of the country and its language, just the basic necessities of life which was some clothes and money, amazed me. Additionally, my father played as a substantial role model in how I entered society because of the fact that I grew up not speaking english and so growing up and going to school was difficult to do since I did not really understand much and it wasn t until a few years of ESL where I began to pick up english and a more centered idea of the world. As a result, I wanted to be able to be a good role model for her and to be able to inspire her to follow her dreams and to have a more optimistic perspective. I considered my father to be my role model because he is someone who I believe is intelligent, hardworking and honest. He was someone who was always pushing my sister and I to continue taking challenges that will help us develop into stronger and knowledgeable young individuals. As an individual who never ... • 14. Women In Popular Culture Objective male narration reduces women to apparitions not only in these works, but in most of today s media. The standard defense for such blatant sexism is that it is a product of its time (Berlatsky 2). This defense reasons that Conrad and Orwell, who respectively published their works in 1899 and 1948, could not have been expected to write any differently. By delineating the past as completely benighted and the present as completely beknighted, contemporary readers ignore that this issue still exists (Berlatsky 5). Genderinequality persisted in 1899 and through 1948, but it is still around today and will be for centuries to come. They become rewards for players; if a player achieves a certain goal, he unlocks sexual clothing or a racy cut scene depicting the female characters. In addition, Sarkeesian lists several games that began with a female lead eventually swapped out for a male character during the design stage. Additionally, he stresses the complexity of the gift of the Spirit. The event that transpired at Pentecost can be described as but not limited to a baptizing, clothing, outpouring, filling, and empowering of the Spirit. Multiple sclerosis is understood to be an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system. However, muscular dystrophy is a genetic disorder that affects the peripheral nervous system. Multiple sclerosis is seen as progressing asymmetrically from the loss of myelin. Likewise, muscular dystrophypresents with a symmetrical wasting of the muscle and distribution of weakness. Muscular dystrophy is a group of similar conditions that affect the voluntary muscles. Multiple sclerosis is often diagnosed in the late twenties while muscular dystrophy offsets in young and adolescent aged individuals. Multiple Sclerosis occurs as a result of demyelination of the axons within the central nervous system and neuronal loss.1 The immune system produces antibodies that attack oligodendrocytes. When the oligodendrocytes are destroyed, they produce patches of demyelination referred to as plaques.2 (p.41) These plaques are found in the white matter of the central nervous system. With the loss of myelination of neurons, the transmission of signals may become slowed or blocked.2(p.41) Communication between the brain, spinal cord, and other areas of the body are hindered.3 Multiple sclerosis may result in the deterioration of the myelin surrounding the nerves, and also the nerves themselves. Touching is perhaps the most powerful nonverbal communication form. The skin is the body s largest organ, and through the skin we take in a variety of stimuli. We can communicate anger, interest, trust, tenderness, warmth, and a variety of other emotions very potently through touching. People differ, however, in their willingness to touch and be touched. Some people give out nonverbal body signals that say that they do not want to be touched, and there are other people who describe themselves and are described by others as touchy feely. There are many taboos associated with this form of communication. Persons can learn about their own personalities and self concepts through exploring their reactions to touching and being touched. • 19. Analysis Of A Doll House By Henry James In Daisy Miller by Henry James the author takes us on an adventure of a self centered American woman who has no desire to conform to society. On the contrary in A Dolls House, Henrik Ibsen shows Nora as woman who is also not bothered by society, but for less selfish reasons. Both women are willing to do what is necessary for Daisy it is what is necessary to fulfill her own needs and for Nora what is necessary to fulfill the needs of the ones she loves. Despite the motives of both women, each author shows the empowerment behind each character. James and Ibsen discuss how the power of women is portrayed through independence, courage and innocence. Independence is something everyone craves but may not always achieve. Your roots may grow this characteristic early in life or a life changing event may cause you to seek it. Daisy Miller travels throughout Europe unchaperoned until she comes across a gentleman, Winterbourne. James sets the tone of Daisy s adventures after she meets Winterbourne by noting, A young man was not at liberty to speak to a young unmarried lady except under certain rarely occurring conditions (pg 5), which shows the outlook of the European Society. Despite the European ways, Daisy engaging with Winterbourne shows her independence from society. Molecular characterization of these tumors demonstrates many of these patients display MYC amplification with an associated poor overall prognosis. Sexual Education And Sex Education The purpose of this paper is to explain the importance of sexual education and describe differences and similarities in some of the research done on this topic. Having sexual education available to youth is the key in reducing the number of unwanted situations in the sexual health of the individuals. Teaching adolescents about sex is beneficial because they become aware of consequence that might follow specific actions. This is a chance to ensure adolescents take safer routes when deciding to become sexually active. Youth sexual education has been correlated with preventing unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Many schools have sexual education programs but many teenage pregnancies that are unplanned and STIs are occurring. One reason could be because very few of these sexual education programs are attending to the traditional social norms around sexuality and gender. It is important to consider and focus on the traditional social norms because findings in previous studies have found those that hold traditional social beliefs around gender and sexuality, are at greater risks of negative sexual health consequences. The Effect Of Ph On The Ph Of A Solution pH is a measure of the concentration of the H3O+ ions in a solution, and buffers are solutions that resist changes in the pH when an acid or an alkali is added. The objective of this lab was to determine the ways in which a buffer could effect changes in pH of a solution. This was done through titrations of phosphate solutions, acidic HCl, and basic NaOH, with distilled water. The intent was to note the changes caused by the buffer by observing the buffering range and buffering capacity from the standard curved created from the pHreadings. A buffering range is the pH range in which a buffer has effectively neutralized the acids and bases, while maintaining a constant pH. Buffering capacity, on the other hand is the measure of the efficiency of buffer in its resistance to pH change. Therefore, a good buffer with a high buffering capacity should be able to resist the changes in pH well. If the buffer solutionis titrated with a strong acid, HCl, then the pH of the solution will decrease slowly, maintaining a constant pH value due to the presence of buffers (instead of the pH dropping in a linear line with huge values.) Likewise, if the mixture containing buffer solution, and water are titrated with a strong base, NaOH, then the pH of the solution will increase at a steady increments instead of the pH values shooting up in big numbers in a linear line. • 32. The Spiral Road Summary The Spiral Road is a perceptive series bringing together the humanistic view of the rise of the People Republic of China. Usually history is dictated, but Huang s ethnographic work is not just another text of narration. Huang makes the readers know history should be concerned with the people involved, as much as it looks at the overarching politics. The book can be considered a series of stories that staunchly describes the continuing revolution innate to the countryside of the PRC by this time in the late 1990 s. Huang s relationship with Ye, the local party leader, and both of their spirit in storytelling, one for work and another for self gratification, provides the book with an appropriate framework. Huang immerses himself in a culture that is isolated, but it is slowly opening up to the rest of the world. As a scholar his work is remarkable in bringing light to the peasantry, who feed the development of Chinafrom bottom up. However, Huang s adaptation of Secretary Ye s voice skews his work towards subjectivity or bias that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, in the midst of the book foreseeing the Cultural Revolution is overshadowed by Ye s tone describing his earlier political activism after end of Shaoqi s rule, where his military aims transformed to a menial local post in his home village as a result of the Four Cleanup movement. Perhaps best known as the black eye of the administration and overshadowing his presidency s accomplishments, the Indian Removal Act was passed into law to allow the president to negotiate with Indians to purchase land they occupied and offer them lands west of the Mississippi. The Indian Removal Act of 1830 could also amount to pure greed and racism, the beginning of the arrogance of Americans in the belief that we deserve to take something just because we want it. Expansion By the early 1800 s with the Constitution firmly in place and the economy recovering, the population was growing. The settlers desire to expand further West and south met many hazards, the largest of which being the Native Americans that occupied those lands. Settlers were eager to raise large cotton and tobacco plantations and Native Americans were seen as an obstacle. The Indian Removal Act was the result of the settlers petitioning the government for more land and protection from the Savage Indians to the south and west in present day Mississippi and Alabama although there were few unprovoked attacks at the time. The need for land to grow more cash crops was all consuming. An argument could be made that President Jackson held a personal grudge against the Natives, According to Parins, J.W. and Littlefield, D.F. (2011) He entered the presidency with a single minded ... Personal responsibility is having integrity, and taking ownership for your actions. Doing the right thing will demonstrate being personally responsible and will result in a successful experience in life. Personal responsibility is taking ownership of your thoughts and actions. To me, personal responsibility is having integrity. What I mean by this is being trustworthy, to do the right thing all the time. For example, plagiarizing work, if someone is trustworthy they will do their own work, rather than copy someone else s and turning that work in for a grade. If someone is to have integrity, they will also report any wrong doings that they are aware of. If you know of someone that is cheating or plagiarizing and you do not report the incident, you are just as much at fault as the other person. Above would be another example of what I believe personal responsibility means, doing the right thing even though it may not be the popular thing to do. The North Korean Underground Railroad is a horrendous path across China that leads to South Korea. Business intelligence (BI) provides tools that revolutionize the way organizations manage business and decision making. It allows them to transform mass amounts of raw data into reliable information necessary to make important business decisions. BI delivers relevant and reliable information to those who seek it with the goal of achieving better decisions faster. An employee is independently able to navigate through a company s data and find what he or she needs without relying on others. This means an organization no longer needs to dig through compiled webs of linked spreadsheets, analyze the data manually and mash together reports. Instead, employees can use BI systems to request the specific information that is useful for them (Hitachi Solutions Canada, 2014). BI allows managers to reach the most accurate and contemporaneous information an organization s database cannot retrieve. The software offers applications for both data analysis and presentation of results. Applications such as data mining and decision support systems allow one to contemplate how he or she wants to analyze the data. The Social Discourse Of Bipolar Disorder The social discourse of bipolar disorder is often punctuated by the classic manic episodes manifesting as symptoms such as distractibility, pressured speech, decreased need for sleep, euphoric mood, grandiosity, and problems with impulse control [17]. These classic periods of high energy are often intertwined in a cyclical fashion with periods of depressive symptoms, much of the time meeting criteria for major depressive disorder, as well as periods with no symptoms [17]. The frequency by which a patient moves through these states varies greatly from weeks to months to as little as a few days, namely rapid cycling [17]. In addition to manic episodes, hypomanic episodes, characterized by similar symptoms but less severe symptoms than manic episodes, qualify the disease as bipolar II disorder instead of bipolar I which needs the criteria of manic episodes alternating with major depressive episodes [17]. Another subtype of bipolar disorder, cyclothymia, is characterized by depressive episodes that do not meet criteria for a major depressive episode but does consist of cycling with previously described hypomanic episodes [11]. While the stigma of manic episodes plagues patients with bipolar disorder, often the depressive episodes are what cause the most distress and impairment in daily functioning of patients with bipolar disorder [12].
