What Is The Theme Of Edmund In King Lear
5.2 Edmund
We meet Edmund at the very beginning of the play where Gloucester introduces him to Kent as his
illegitimate son and jokes about his illegitimacy in front of him. We do feel bad for him, but this
soliloquy reveals his true self and his intentions:

Edmund is the great villain of King Lear. The illegitimate son of Gloucester who knows that Edgar the
legitimate son will inherit all his father s properties uses his brain to get the throne. He uses his father
s good nature by showing him a letter supposedly written by Edgar against him. On the other hand he
conned Edgar saying that his father is against him thus inducing him to leave the kingdom. He betrays
both of them seeing them as mere objects for manipulation.
Edgar is humiliated by his own father for his bastardy. Gloucester even talks openly in front of him
with Kent about how this illegitimacy embarrasses him. Edmund uses his bastardy as a justification
for his evil acts. As he is considered a bastard he decides to act as one. However, there is one
important thing that should be emphasized revenge is not the driving force of his actions but rather
greed, self interest, and egoism. Even at the end he thinks about himself: Yet Edmund was belov

Turkey Research Paper
The history is always a good place to start when you are writing a paper over countries. The history of
Turkey is pretty interesting to talk about. During the 1300s a group of Turks also know for as the
Ottomans founded a principality in Northwestern Anatolia. Which means the Ottoman created an
empire and that empire soon became one of the most powerful empires in the world. With that being
said later on in 1939 1945 Turkish sided with the democratic western nations during and after World
War II. Now switching from history over to geography, agriculture in Turkey is widely practiced in the
Northwestern and the Southwestern of Turkey. Now you notice that the Eastern part of Turkey wasn t
mentioned, that is because the Eastern parts of turkey are the most mountainous parts, which tells you
that it s very difficult to practice agriculture there. Now a little more about mountains are that many
peaks in Turkey exceed 10,000 feet at the least. Turkey s highest point is Mt. Ararat which peaks at
16,948 feet, which is very tall compared to the smaller ones. Another very interesting thing about
Turkey is the people and their lifestyles, you may not know but turkish lives are far from the same as

Planning: A budget provides a detailed plan of action for a business over definite period of time.
Detailed plans relating to production, sales, raw material requirements, labour needs, advertising and
sales promotion performance, research and development activities, capital additions etc., are drawn
up. By planning many problems are anticipated long before they arise and solutions can be sought
through careful study. Thus most business emergencies can be avoided by planning. In brief,
budgeting forces the management to think ahead, to anticipate and prepare for the anticipated
conditions.
2. Co ordination: Budgeting aids managers in co ordinating their efforts so that objectives of the
organisation as a whole harmonise with the objectives of its divisions. Effective planning and
organisation contributes a lot in achieving coordination. There should be coordination in the budgets
of various departments. For example, the budget of sales should be in coordination with the budget of
production. Similarly, production budget should be prepared in co ordination with the purchase
budget, and so on.
3. Communication: A budget is a communication device. The approved budget copies are distributed
to all management personnel which provides not only adequate understanding and knowledge of the
programmes and policies to be followed but also gives knowledge about the restrictions to be adhered
to. It is not the budget itself that

Acid Precipitation Essay example
Sitting in your room late at night, you listen to the gentle pittter patter of the rain on your window.
Ahh, so soothing and relaxing. Have you ever really wondered what the rain is really made of? Is that
just water or is it acid slowly streaming down out there? That rain you hear just might be acid rain, it
could change the way you live your life.
The commonly used terms acid rain and acid precipitation describe specific forms of a type of
pollution described generally as acid deposition. Harmful gases that rise into the air mix with cloud
moisture, sunlight, and oxidants. There they chemically combine into dilute sulfuric and nitric acids,
which fall back to the earth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each year the Sudbury plant gave off 1% of the entire world s sulfur dioxide emissions, including both
natural and human sources (Morgan, 24).
At a staggering 1,250 ft, quot;Superstack quot; is almost as tall as the Empire State Building. Its main
purpose was to act as a giant chimney to take all toxins higher into the atmosphere so that we humans
would not have to breathe them. The air quality around the smelter was much better and plant life
started growing back. The problem was, the sulfur dioxide was then blown whichever the winds
happened to be going. Most of the time those winds to the sulfur dioxide across state borders and into
Canada (Morgan, 27) Scientists then used satellite photography to trace the weather patterns back to
where the sulfur dioxide originated. The acid falling back down to earth, whether it is in dry or wet
form has drastic consequences for many.
A rainstorm occurs in a forest. The summer rains wash the leaves of the branches and fall to the forest
floor below. Some of the water is absorbed into the soil while other water run off enters nearby
streams, rivers, or lakes. When acid rain is absorbed into the ground, it slowly poisons the tree by
being absorbed through the roots. Acidic rainwater also dissolves the nutrients and minerals that the
plants need from the soil. When acid rain is frequent, leaves tend to lose their protective waxy coating.

Jeffrey Dahmer Motives
In the beginning, that was my most profound admission, that there was something missing in Jeff, the
part that should have cried out, Stop! Lionel Dahmer (Jeffrey s father) (qtd. in LaBrode). Jeffrey
Dahmer, the son of Lionel Dahmer, was a serial killer who lured his unsuspecting victims to his house,
savagely killed them, and then cannibalized their corpses. He is only one of the many serial killers
who have terrorized our world. They are an example of the evil lurking in humanity. These murderers
commit acts so horrendous that it s hard to imagine how anyone could be capable of these acts. Many
who study these people, and the murders they commit, wonder how that behavior is established within
them. There are two major answers that emerge: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

see that many serial killers suffer from psychopathy because many serial killer s personalities
incorporate these traits. The fact that they are psychopaths largely explains why they can kill without

The Philippine-American War
This was America s first true colonial war as a world power. After defeating Spain in Cuba and in the
Philippines in 1898, the U.S. purchased the Philippines, Puerto Rico and several other islands from the
Spanish. However, the Filipinos had been fighting a bloody revolution against Spain since 1896 and
had no intention of becoming a colony of another imperialist power. In February of 1899, fighting
broke out between the occupying American Army and the Filipino forces. The basic causes of the
Philippine American War can be found in the U.S. government s quest for an overseas empire and the
desire of the Filipino people for freedom.
Following the surrender of the Spanish colonial government in the Philippines to American military
forces in August 1898, tensions developed between U.S. and Filipino forces near Manila. The ... Show

The ghastly massacre of the U.S. infantry company whipped Americans into a vengeful fury. Chaffee
believed that false humanitarianism was responsible for the massacre; now, he said, it the troops

known for good reason as Hell Roarin Jake, enraged by a guerrilla massacre of U.S. troops, launched a
retaliatory campaign of such indiscriminate fierceness that he was court martialed and forced to retire.
The impact of the U.S. war in the Philippines continued for three and a half years before President
Theodore Roosevelt declared it over in July 1902, even though fighting continued in outlying islands
for another decade. To keep the brutal nature of the war hidden from the American public, the
McKinley and Roosevelt administrations engaged in censorship, official denial, media spin,
impressive generalities, and intimidation of war critics. Many citizens nonetheless challenged the

A Brief Note On Legislation And Poor Oversight
Cause: deregulatory legislation and poor oversight Since 2001, the Federal Reserve System chose
easily monetary policy and reduced loan level again. As a result that America began to decrease
interest in the two half years. FRS totally reduced interests in 13 times. It allowed financial institution
to borrow money for unlimited times. And then, it leaded to increase American money supplement in
unusual. The liquidity of market enhance in rush. In this situation, the financial market stimulated
consumers costs appetite and brought investors enthusiasm. At last, it became inflation. It is clear that
there are many causes leaded to the financial crisis in the 2008. However, America s macro policy is
definitely the core reason for the financial crisis. Since 1999, America began to release financial
regulation. It made American financial ecological environment break out many problems. For
example, financial derivative instruments occurred changes, value chain became longer and longer,
which leaded to a subprime crisis. Before subprime crisis happened, the American government
proposed a series of acts and policies involved limited export. American government adopted different
trade barriers for developing countries. And it also limited technology products which push the
domestic products price increase and decrease the job opportunities. At the same time, the government
controlled domestic economical innovation power. That is also a main reason of financial crisis.

Religious Aspects Of The Latino Culture
Have you ever wondered how sexuality is viewed in the eyes of a different culture? Since America is a
melting pot specifically with the Latino culture we have and is a very diverse country, it still carries
culture identity. When you have a set cultural ideology for example the Latino Culture ideology, it sets
the rules and norms for gender and sexual identity. In this essay we will be talking about how religious
aspects of the Latino/a culture are affecting how people view sexual orientation. How religion in the
Latino culture creates a discrimination against homosexuality and non gender norms. This topic was
chosen because I believe it is interesting how some cultures are used to believing that certain rituals
and big events have to be within a man and a woman and cannot be both. I have personally witnessed
how sexuality does affect the Latino culture; and has been involved in the rituals that make it so
heteronormative. Through evidence of religious cultures, gendered identities and family structures we
will see how religion in the Latino culture shapes and forms sexuality. I will be examining how
Catholicism shapes cultural norms for sexual orientation and gender identity, how heteronormativity is
reinforced as the main stream within the religious Latino culture and how it is insensitive towards
homosexuality. How having family and social circles that are used to a culture around are perpetuating
gender identity against sexuality.

Boxing Is The Most Brutal Of Sports
Typically in sports the goal is to hit a homerun, score a goal, or even get a hole in one. However, there
is one sport that is not like any other, boxing. This sport is the most brutal of sports. The goal is to
knock out the opponent with devastating blows to the head. Boxing can be a very dangerous sport
resulting in extreme injury or death, and there is a lot of pressure to use illegal drugs in an effort to
win. Boxing also has many benefits, such as physical fitness, stress relieving, and allows an elite
professional boxer to earn a very good living. The earliest records of boxing occurred in the 2nd
millennium BC from Mesopotamian and Assyria nations (History of Boxing). Architects have found
carvings in ancient caves showing bare fisted contests with spectators (History of Boxing). Boxing
gained popularity and became an organized sport when accepted by the Greeks at the Olympic Games
in 688 BC (History of Boxing). Boxing continued to evolve from the 16th to 18th centuries in Great
Britain as a prize fighting game (History of Boxing). During this time, boxers fought with bare
knuckles and spiked shoes (History of Boxing). Early fighting had no written rules. There were no
weight divisions, or round limits, and no referee. The matches were extremely chaotic (History of
Boxing). Around 1867, the introduction of fair size gloves changed the nature of the bouts (History of
Boxing). Bouts became longer and more strategic with greater emphasis on strategy and

Animal Farm Vs Animal Farm
Humans have aspired to develop and implement an ideal society. A society is a fragile, intricate
concept that contains many important factors. Throughout history, there have been countless attempts
to create a flawless society. None of these attempts have resulted in a perfect society. Many attempts
have failed; however, many have been successful. The novels Lord of the Flies, by William Golding
and Animal Farm, by George Orwell exhibit two different societies that both result in failure due to a
desire for power and the regulations and rules that are established.
Lord of the Flies is a novel that takes place during a nuclear war. It depicts the story of several young
children taken away from the real world and forced to live by themselves on a deserted island. The
novel describes the childrens attempts to govern themselves and create a society. There are two clear
leaders, Ralph and Jack who stand out from the beginning of the story. When the children arrive on the
island, they find a conch and instinctually accept without question that whoever holds the conch
possesses the power to speak: Ralph smiled and held up the conch for silence. Listen, everybody
(Golding 23). The conch is an early symbol of power and authority. This also symbolizes hope for
their society. It creates order and unites everyone under the conch. The conch represents the power to
make decisions and voice opinion. As the novel progresses, this universally accepted rule becomes
obsolete and is

The End Of The World War
In 1988 Hagen Fleischer noted that even today, decades after the war, the issue of [wartime]
collaborationism still remains an open wound . Greece was not of course the only country that entered
the postwar period scarred with the wounds of collaborationism, nor was the only country in which
these wounds were still open long after the war was over.
In the aftermath of the Second World War, Europe emerged both victorious and divided, as divided
was the memory of the wartime experience in countries that had collaborated in one way or another
with the perpetrators of the Final Solution. The transition to political and social normalcy in Western
Europe was facilitated by the collective amnesia that the continent settled into for over two decades as
well as by the domination of self justifying narratives that emerged all across Europe in some cases
well before the War had ended; from the Italian Secondo Risorgimento to the Austrian Lebenslüge, to
the deGaullian Résistance, to the Dutch self image of a small but brave country , to the Norwegian
Hjemmenfront the identity of postwar Western Europe was constructed upon national mythologies that
sanitised the memory of the war. As Richard Ned Lebow aptly comments meanwhile, everyone
blamed the Germans for the Holocaust, the Germans blamed the Nazis, and the Nazis blamed Hitler.
According to Lebow, three were the main strategies that the postwar political elites in Western Europe
adopted in order to restore inner unity,

Books Of Ezra And Nehemiah
The Books of Ezra and Nehemiah of the Old Testament are essential works in understanding history of
the fifth century before Christ. In order to discuss why these books are essential, and exegetical
investigation of each is necessary, comparing and contrasting regarding the literary and historical
contexts of each, including the religious and cultural challenges that each book discusses. An
exegetical investigation of the historical context of the Books of Ezra and Nehemiah indicates that
both books have similar religious and cultural challenges of ethnic division and exclusivity in
community, intermarriage, and restoration, as well as similar methods of addressing those challenges
in their respective communities both men prophesied to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the first year of his reign, Cyrus, king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord spoken
by Jeremiah, was stirred by the Lord to build a temple in Jerusalem., The author also explans that
Cyrus also posed a fatal threat to the Neo Babylonian Empire and rose in power over Babylon after he
captured Nabonidus, the Babylonian leader. According to Katherine Southwood, one of the most
prominent sources that verifies this history is the Cyrus Cylinder, which portrays the potential, under
Persian imperial leadership, for exiled communities to return to their homeland. This action on Cyrus s
part to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem is a major challenge that Ezra has in the later chapters. When
Ezra is finally discussed in chapter seven, this begins what is called the Ezra Memoirs. Ezra was a
priest and a famous expert in the law...[who] went to the Persian court to obtain the royal patronage
for the scheme which was devised, or rather for so much of it as it seemed worth while to
communicate to Artaxerxes, the scheme of rebuilding the temple, which Cyrus had began., The reply
of Artaxerxes I is shown in the latter majority of chapter seven, which gives Ezra the power to use
money from the royal treasury if necessary to assist in rebuilding the temple. According to Artaxerxes
I s decree, Ezra was sent to supervise Juah and Jerusalem with reagrd to the law of...God...and

and Grace Caroline Hefner. Both of his parents worked as teachers and were from Nebraska. His
mother was of Swedish decent, and his father was English and German ancestry. Hefner claimed that
through his father s blood line he was a direct descendent of distinguished Massachusetts Puritan
patriarchs William Bradford and John Winthrop. Hugh had a younger brother who was born in 1929,

After college, Hugh began to attempt to publish some of his cartoons. Unfortunately none of his ideas

Water Pollution Is the Contamination of Water Bodies
Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies (e.g. lakes, rivers, oceans and groundwater).
Water pollution affects plants and organisms living in these bodies of water; and, in almost all cases
the effect is damaging not only to individual species and populations, but also to the natural biological
communities.
Water pollution occurs when pollutants are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without
adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds.

However where such water is not channeled and drains directly to ground it is a non point source.
[edit] Groundwater pollution
See also: Hydrogeology
Interactions between groundwater and surface water are complex. Consequently, groundwater
pollution, sometimes referred to as groundwater contamination, is not as easily classified as surface
water pollution.[7] By its very nature, groundwater aquifers are susceptible to contamination from
sources that may not directly affect surface water bodies, and the distinction of point vs. non point
source may be irrelevant. A spill or ongoing releases of chemical or radionuclide contaminants into
soil (located away from a surface water body) may not create point source or non point source
pollution, but can contaminate the aquifer below, defined as a toxin plume. The movement of the
plume, a plume front, can be part of a Hydrological transport model or Groundwater model. Analysis
of groundwater contamination may focus on the soil characteristics and site geology, hydrogeology,
hydrology, and the nature of the contaminants.
[edit] Causes of water pollution
The specific contaminants leading to pollution in water include a wide spectrum of chemicals,
pathogens, and physical or sensory changes such as elevated temperature and discoloration. While
many of the chemicals and substances that are regulated may be naturally occurring (calcium, sodium,

Persuasive Essay On Graffiti
Since the birth of graffiti in the 1960 s many people were or are either thrown in jail, have to pay a
high fine in graffiti damages or are either asked to do graffiti in many museums and art galleries
because owners like the art they see and want others to see it too. Graffiti has been around for some
time now, most people and the police just see it as a form of destruction and not art they should not
just see it as something that is good or evil because these artists are expressing themselves through this
art and trying to spread a message. The United States and the U.K need to accept the art and nature or
meaning behind this graffiti because it is a way for people to do good things other than rob or go to
jail it is also a way for people to get their message out and have others hear them or see them in an
artistic way.
Generally most people look and take graffiti as a form of destruction and wanting to cause violence,
but in the artist s mind they want to be creative and help the people around them by making art to
cheer someone up or create a sense of creativity in others. They don t do it to go to jail or because they
want to pay a fine they do it because they are open minded and creative. For instance, A lot of
attention is given to the broken window theory, which says that signs of disorder like petty vandalism,
fare jumping ... and yes, graffiti, open the window to larger crimes, Verel told The Huffington Post.
But little is paid to the ways graffiti is harnessed for good in a form that s both constructive and
authentic (Patrick Verel). They are taking this broken windows theory too far and only saying it can
cause bigger crimes. Some graffiti artists are trying to uplift the neighborhoods and the people they
live around with creative art. Also not all graffiti is bad enough to want artists to commit a crime.
While making this art or graffiti I don t think that these artist are trying to harm the buildings in any
way, but they should ask for permission if they aren t allowed to be painting on these buildings. This is
to let the owner of the building know that they mean no harm to the environment or their workplace.
For example, Adam Cooper, cultural strategy officer for the mayor of London, thinks

Bigfoot Evolution
Bigfoot is a species of North American ape.
How it s possible: When the earth had one supercontinent, a species of ape from Asia migrated to
North America using a land bridge connecting Russia and Alaska. Over time, the continents spread
apart which prevented the two populations from interacting. The smaller gene pool of the North
American paired with the new environment led to the new population favoring different alleles. As a
result the population of North American apes grew larger and began to favor walking on their back
legs.

The descriptions of these two species tend to be very similar; they re tall, hairy, human like beasts that
walk on their hind legs. Is it possible that these are two species were once one? And are they still
capable of reproducing with one another? Scientists have found that grizzly bears and polar bears,
when put together, produce viable and fertile offspring. This technically makes the two bears one
species. Logistically, however, the two are not considered of the same species because they live so far
apart that in nature it is very rare that the two would breed, although it has happened before.
Therefore, there is a prezygotic barrier rather than a postzygotic barrier. The same may be for Bigfoots

Analysis Of The System Design Project
The purpose of this report is to outline the client s requirements, discuss and understand the problems
they are facing during the system design process, come up with appropriate solutions, and then design
a social media fitness platform. This document will give the system developer an insight view in
corresponding client s needs, it contains all the information needed to develop the system. 1.1
Background Gemma Brown and Todd Smith are the founders of the startup company FitTrakr, both of
them have huge passion over fitness. In fact, fitness is becoming an industry which growing fast in the
last decade, this is occurring because the high pressure lifestyle as well as the number of people who
suffered from obesity, diabetes and other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Users can share their achievements and status with their friends on this platform with necessary
privacy setting, they also can create fitness related event to motivate each other, team up together to
achieve their fitness and health goal. However, the event creation can only be invited only to a group
of friends for the moment. 1.3 Narrative Overview For using this platform, each user has to register as
a member. Users can set up a new account and choose to use their contact on Facebook to connect on
FitTrackr. However, they cannot login using their social media account such as Facebook or Twitter
with FitTrackr for the moment since Gemma and Todd prefer to maintain control of their users as
much as possible. Members can be creative on their profile but it might be better using their real name
so that their friend can easily find them. More importantly with privacy setting, the user profile and
diary entries will be public visible by default, if users choose to open up their profile only to the
friends on FitTrackr, in this case, user s activities can only be visible to the friends on FitTrackr.
Nevertheless, their setting can only be private to themselves, then no one could access their
information and data. The platform is not a fitness device, it is a social media fitness network which
allows users to share their physical fitness data. Users can estimate how much calories

Evaluation Of A Student For Special Education Essay
In order for a student to be eligible for special education services, the regular education teacher
discovers that there is a problem. From there, a screening must take place. The screening can consist
of hearing, vision, communication, and any other type that may be needed. Permission is not needed
in order to do a screening.
Next, Response to Intervention begins, also known as RTI. This provides levels or tiers of increasingly
intensive instruction to help students master academic content. Tier 1 takes place in a regular
classroom setting. Tier 2 involves and allows the student to go out to a specialty teacher. Tier 3 mainly
takes place in a special education classroom. Tier 3 requires more one on one instruction for the
student from the teacher. RTI serves two purposes support struggling learners and identify students
with learning disabilities. Parents are invited to take part in their child s RTI process. Other school
professionals also take part during the RTI process to meet the child needs. Research Based
Interventions are used during the RTI process. Data is gathered during the RTI process on a regular
basis. After a few weeks, the team meets again to determine how beneficial the interventions are for
the child. If RTI is working, it is continued, if RTI is not working, a meeting takes place where the RTI
data is presented. Then the referral process initiates.
The referral process commences with an Admissions and Release Committee known as ARC. Here,

Blindness In Carver s Cathedral
The idea of blindness in Carver s Cathedral gains additional meaning throughout the story as we learn
more about the character Robert and the blind man himself. The story begins in first person, depicting
Roberts disdain for the blind and his smallness of character. As a juxtaposition we are introduced to
the blind man who is evolved in character, and has a substantially important relationship with Roberts
s wife. As the story progresses and Robert has more interaction with the blind man, he himself begins
to evolve through time spent while his wife is asleep. As the story comes to an end, the blind man has
affected the character of Robert to the point that his inward blindness has been exposed. This story
shows that blindness does not necessarily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The more he interacts with the blind man, the more his defenses and preconceived notions fall away.
The narrator asks the blind man if he would like to smoke marijuana with him, during this Robert
acknowledges his preconceived ideas by assuming the blind man smokes when he does not. Robert
says, I thought I knew that much and that much about blind people (Carver, 187). Here, he must
acknowledge he is previous notion was incorrect, and that is the furthest step we have yet to see the
narrator take. The blind man staying up with him that evening shows him reaching out and attempting
to help Robert evolve. As the blind man says I am always learning something. Learning never ends
(Carver, 188). This represents Roberts learning and growing as a person. The true transformation is
depicted through the describing of the Cathedral. Robert attempts two times to describe a cathedral but
cannot find the words or description to it justice. The blind man leads him to draw it and made him
close his eyes. Now Robert is seeing in a new way. No longer through his eyes, but from within.
Robert describes this as like nothing else in my life up to now (Carver, 190). Together, one man eyes
closed trying to see from within, one man blind but able to see from within, they draw the Cathedral.
Robert kept his eyes closed for a long time after this. As he points out, my eyes were still closed and I
thought I d keep them that way for a little longer (Carver, 190 ). When the story finishes, Robert says I
was in my house. I knew that. But I didn t feel like I was inside anything (Carver, 190). He had come

The Indian Independence Movement
The history of the Indian Independence Movement against the British in the 20th Century was
evidently influenced and motivated by the underlying differences and perceptions of communal
identities. The freedom struggle in essence was also an assertion of the interests and aspirations of the
diverse communities of the Indian subcontinent. The Indian National Congress and the Muslim
League were the two big powers that sought to mobilize public sentiments in the quest for
Independence. While the Muslim League (formed in 1906), stood as a symbol of Islamic nationalism,
the INC on the other hand was seen as pro Hindu (with a strong influence of radical groups like the
Hindu Mahasabha).
Mohammad Ali Jinnah, initially a Congress nationalist, joined the Muslim League in 1913 in order to
align the views of the two communities in their collective struggle for freedom. The result was The
Lucknow Pact which laid down the constitutional framework of seat and power sharing arrangements
for elections to the Provincial Legislative Councils. Muslims were provided with separate electorates
and one third representation in the Central government. Congress that claimed to fight only for secular
goals and considered religion as a private matter of individual granted the separate electorates for
Muslim went against their very own ideologies. This lead to the settlement of differences between the
two parties and immediate goal of both the parties through the pact called for greater autonomy as a

Causes Of Hegemony
hegemony will make a strong country easy to launch a war, to seize the colonies, thus breaking the
balance of power.
Hegemony has created a power imbalance for the First World War in one of the causes of the
outbreak. The content of the First World War was the hegemony of the imperialist countries. Western
major powers have strong military and comprehensive strength, so they wantonly plunder the
colonies, bully small countries and regions, carve up the sphere of influence. They all want to become
kingdom to dominate the world of imperialism. By destroying France as a Power, Germany would
destroy the balance of power in Europe, and would threaten to bring Britain s global supremacy to an
end. We can see that when some countries are too powerful to be called the overlord To the interests of
small countries, so the surrounding countries tend to be united, because the defeat of hegemony is
equal to save their own. So hegemony to people to bring no good, only the dispute. The largest
empire, the territorial area of about a quarter of the world, France also has a lot of colonies. Before
Europe has been in peacetime, the gradual establishment of alliances between countries, but each
alliance will involve a lot of interest. At the end of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, France and
Germany continued to have friction, especially in colonial issues. Because France is the second
colonial power after the United Kingdom, North Africa became the important place for their

Motifs In Creation Myth
What is a motif you may wonder? What do they consist of and how do they change the thoughts on
how we were created? A motif is something that you see in one creation myth, that is found in many
others. Motifs show us that certain pieces of different religions are the same, or could be connected
completely. When the same motif is repeated over and over it can show us different connections and
new information on more than one creation myth. I will be explaining three different motifs, our
creator cares for their creations, the creator is invisible, and is the earth made of organic materials. I
find it important how the gods/higher power, cares for their creations, because without them we
wouldn t exist.
In most creation myths, the creator ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Cheyenne creation myth, the God Maheo creates the sky, the light, water, and animals before
creating land. Maheo only had the power to create four things on his own, and turned to the help of his
creations. One little coot was able to swim to the bottom of Maheo s lake and retrieve mud, so that the
earth could be made. Once Maheo had the mud, he was able to make it grow and expand until he
could no longer carry it. Grandmother turtle was able to carry the ball of mud and it grew more once
placed onto her back. Maheo says that the Earth shall be known as Grandmother, and that her and all
of her offspring would be slow; because they carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. Maheo
felt that she shouldn t be lonely, so he pulled out his right rib and breathed on it. Moments later; the
first man stood and walked, but Maheo still didn t want man lonely in the void that Earth would be, so
he pulled out his left rib and breathed the first woman to be. He watched them grow, and build more
tribes each year. He created animals for food, clothing, etc, and made sure that his children would
have what they needed in order for survival. The myth says that Maheo cannot be seen, but that he is
everywhere watching over us. That is one of the few creation myths where our creator leaves behind
all of their creations. Like in the Theogony which is the greek creation myth, Prometheus created man
after four failed attempts and then left his creations behind. Then he was ordered by Zeus to be
tortured for making humans to god like. In the Norse creation myth, the Elder Eddas gave Odin
permission to create humans, he did so first while being drunk and vowed to never drink again. Once
sober, Odin re creates man and then protects, and watches over the deformed humans that he first
created. Our creators leave us but for what reason?

The Citizen consumer Hybrid in Ben Jerry s Marketing Strategy
Today, the ice cream industry has been developed mainly in the United States (Arbuckle, 2013). As a
frozen product, ice cream is often related to environmental issue. As Gwanpua (2015) points out that
refrigeration system is likely to generate impact on global warming (Gwanpua, 2015). Ben Jerry s is
one of the well known ice cream businesses in the United States. It was founded in Burlington,

In contrast, the citizenship emphasizes people s social and ecological responsibility. Consumers are
supposed to be concerned with the environmental sustainability when they are consuming.
To begin with, Ben Jerry s focuses more on their sourcing than the ecological sustainability. The
company feels honored that the ingredients of their ice creams are from across the country. For
instance, they emphasize that the nuts in Rainforest Crunch ice cream are supplied from native
peoples of the Amazon (Mirvis, 1994). Only five percent of the nuts are from local farms (Murray,
2015). Peaches are purchased from a Georgia peach growers co operative, cherries are from Pacific
Northwest and wild blueberries are from Native American tribes in Maine (Mirvis, 1994). The
chocolate brownies used in ice cream sandwiches are shipped from Greystone Bakeries, a small
business run by Buddhist monks. However, Freeman (2010) suggests that eating more local and
organic food is a more environmentally efficient way to achieve the sustainability of nature (Freeman,
2010). Henderson (2009) also indicates that discouraging the wasteful long distance transportation of
food supplies and favoring local farming communities contribute to environmental protection
(Henderson, 2009). After all, long distance and processed foods are connected to unsustainable cereal
monocultures and production of greenhouse gases (Shrybman

Jason Film Techniques
Questions
So Jason will your idea of a remake be economically appropriate for the remake of this film?
Why do you believe that they need to show more themes and mateship throughout the film?
Thanks Jason!
In 1981, Peter weir directed a now iconic film on the mateship, tragedies and the affects that war had
on people. In particular he focussed on Australians fighting at Gallipoli. Through his cinematography,
characterisation and symbolism, he demonstrated Australians as a bunch of comrades going on an
adventure through life and he portrays this perfectly through the two main characters, Archie and
Frank. It would be arrogant of us to change this movie in anyway as Weir s film was a tribute to the
soldiers and having a remake just to make money would be selfish and offensive to the men and
women who fought in the war.
Reason 1 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film follows 16 year old Archie and 20 year old Frank as they become best mates as they travel
from rural Western Australia to join the army. The cinematography in these moments is just a, one in a
generation kind of thing. In particular, the scene where the camera is zoomed out on the arid
Australian desert, showing Frank and Archie gradually closing the gap between each other. This
symbolises their mateship along the journey as they became closer friends. They also focussed a lot on
the lead up to the war to showcase Australia s beautiful scenery and to really create a background for
the characters. Through weir s characterisation, we constantly learn more and more about the main
characters as they become good mates and through his stellar cinematography and symbolism, viewers
really feel a connection to the ANZAC legend and the theme of mateship that is intertwined
throughout the

Summary Of The Autobiography Of Malcolm X
The Autobiography of Malcolm X as told to Alex Haley was first published in 1965. The book begins
in 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska, where Malcolm was born. The novel follows him throughout life, from
his rough up bringing in Nebraska and Michigan to his drug and crime ridden adulthood in New York
and Boston. The book tells us about him working menial jobs and him participating in organized
crime. However, the law finally caught up with Malcolm, culminating with his eventual imprisonment
because of his criminal involvement. In prison, Malcolm heard about an organization called The
Nation of Islam from his brother, Reginald. The Nation of Islam is an organization that provides
spiritual, mental, and economic support to African Americans Muslims in the United States. When
Malcolm heard about the organization, he began to consider their ideology and soon he stopped
smoking cigarettes and he refused to eat pork. When Malcolm was released from prison, he

opinion, the book was good. I would rate the book a 4/5. The style of writing was excellent, the flow
of the book was smooth, the story was empowering and in general, the book did a very good job at
telling the life story of one of the most powerful and inspirational African American people in history.
The book taught its readers that if you have passion, drive, and belief, you could accomplish the

Strategic Planning And Strategic Management Essay
Before a business can strategically plan for the future, it must understand the overall strategic
management process. According to Abraham (2012), Strategic management is nothing less than
steering and managing a company to be successful over time not just for the next quarter or year, but
for the long term. (sec. 1.1). Many questions will be answered during this process. What direction
should the company go in, what industry will it compete in, and what products or services will be
featured? (Abraham, 2012, sec. 1.1). Strategic planning and strategic implementation are the two
primary parts of strategic management. This paper will focus on strategic planning. The purpose of
this paper is to describe a detailed strategic plan for The Club at Hidden Creek that will allow it to
grow over the next three years. This paper will present Hidden Creek s history and current business
purpose, the present situation of Hidden Creek in the Northwest Florida golf market, and a complete
Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis. History, Products, Services, and

Hydatid Disease Essay
We read with great interest a case report by Tosya et al. on isolated hydatidosis involving the
ascending aorta [1]. Cystic hydatid disease still represents a neglected disease despite being highly
endemic in a myriad of livestock raising regions worldwide, and this case presentation makes evident
how diverse the localization and clinical manifestations of this infection can be. With this comment,
our aim is to extend the discussion by highlighting several important issues. The described patient
initially presented with recurrent arterial embolic events, which is an unusual manifestation of this
disease. The hydatid embolism usually stems from spontaneous or traumatic rupture of the hydatid
cyst, with only a several case reports describing such events in the literature [2]. Still, histopathologic

significant efforts have been made to improve this percentage using synthetic peptides, recombinant
proteins and combinations of defined antigens, it must be noted that only 60% 80% of infected
individuals become seropositive [3]. Furthermore, 10% 15% of serological examinations return

On the other hand he conned Edgar saying that his father is against him thus inducing him to leave the kingdom. He betrays both of them seeing them as mere objects for manipulation. Edgar is humiliated by his own father for his bastardy. Gloucester even talks openly in front of him with Kent about how this illegitimacy embarrasses him. Now a little more about mountains are that many peaks in Turkey exceed 10,000 feet at the least. Turkey s highest point is Mt. Ararat which peaks at 16,948 feet, which is very tall compared to the smaller ones. The air quality around the smelter was much better and plant life started growing back. The problem was, the sulfur dioxide was then blown whichever the winds happened to be going. Most of the time those winds to the sulfur dioxide across state borders and into Canada (Morgan, 27) Scientists then used satellite photography to trace the weather patterns back to where the sulfur dioxide originated. After defeating Spain in Cuba and in the Philippines in 1898, the U.S. purchased the Philippines, Puerto Rico and several other islands from the Spanish. However, the Filipinos had been fighting a bloody revolution against Spain since 1896 and had no intention of becoming a colony of another imperialist power. In February of 1899, fighting broke out between the occupying American Army and the Filipino forces. The basic causes of the Philippine American War can be found in the U.S. government s quest for an overseas empire and the desire of the Filipino people for freedom. Following the surrender of the Spanish colonial government in the Philippines to American military forces in August 1898, tensions developed between U.S. and Filipino forces near Manila. The ... • 12. Religious Aspects Of The Latino Culture Have you ever wondered how sexuality is viewed in the eyes of a different culture? Since America is a melting pot specifically with the Latino culture we have and is a very diverse country, it still carries culture identity. When you have a set cultural ideology for example the Latino Culture ideology, it sets the rules and norms for gender and sexual identity. In this essay we will be talking about how religious aspects of the Latino/a culture are affecting how people view sexual orientation. How religion in the Latino culture creates a discrimination against homosexuality and non gender norms. This topic was chosen because I believe it is interesting how some cultures are used to believing that certain rituals and big events have to be within a man and a woman and cannot be both. I have personally witnessed how sexuality does affect the Latino culture; and has been involved in the rituals that make it so heteronormative. Through evidence of religious cultures, gendered identities and family structures we will see how religion in the Latino culture shapes and forms sexuality. I will be examining how Catholicism shapes cultural norms for sexual orientation and gender identity, how heteronormativity is reinforced as the main stream within the religious Latino culture and how it is insensitive towards homosexuality. How having family and social circles that are used to a culture around are perpetuating gender identity against sexuality. First we will talk about the Latino ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Boxing Is The Most Brutal Of Sports Typically in sports the goal is to hit a homerun, score a goal, or even get a hole in one. However, there is one sport that is not like any other, boxing. This sport is the most brutal of sports. The goal is to knock out the opponent with devastating blows to the head. Boxing can be a very dangerous sport resulting in extreme injury or death, and there is a lot of pressure to use illegal drugs in an effort to win. Boxing also has many benefits, such as physical fitness, stress relieving, and allows an elite professional boxer to earn a very good living. The earliest records of boxing occurred in the 2nd millennium BC from Mesopotamian and Assyria nations (History of Boxing). Architects have found carvings in ancient caves showing bare fisted contests with spectators (History of Boxing). Boxing gained popularity and became an organized sport when accepted by the Greeks at the Olympic Games in 688 BC (History of Boxing). Boxing continued to evolve from the 16th to 18th centuries in Great Britain as a prize fighting game (History of Boxing). During this time, boxers fought with bare knuckles and spiked shoes (History of Boxing). Early fighting had no written rules. There were no weight divisions, or round limits, and no referee. The matches were extremely chaotic (History of Boxing). Around 1867, the introduction of fair size gloves changed the nature of the bouts (History of Boxing). • 14. Animal Farm Vs Animal Farm Humans have aspired to develop and implement an ideal society. A society is a fragile, intricate concept that contains many important factors. Throughout history, there have been countless attempts to create a flawless society. None of these attempts have resulted in a perfect society. Many attempts have failed; however, many have been successful. The novels Lord of the Flies, by William Golding and Animal Farm, by George Orwell exhibit two different societies that both result in failure due to a desire for power and the regulations and rules that are established. Lord of the Flies is a novel that takes place during a nuclear war. It depicts the story of several young children taken away from the real world and forced to live by themselves on a deserted island. The novel describes the childrens attempts to govern themselves and create a society. There are two clear leaders, Ralph and Jack who stand out from the beginning of the story. When the children arrive on the island, they find a conch and instinctually accept without question that whoever holds the conch possesses the power to speak: Ralph smiled and held up the conch for silence. Listen, everybody (Golding 23). The conch is an early symbol of power and authority. This also symbolizes hope for their society. It creates order and unites everyone under the conch. The conch represents the power to make decisions and voice opinion. As the novel progresses, this universally accepted rule becomes obsolete and is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The End Of The World War In 1988 Hagen Fleischer noted that even today, decades after the war, the issue of [wartime] collaborationism still remains an open wound . Greece was not of course the only country that entered the postwar period scarred with the wounds of collaborationism, nor was the only country in which these wounds were still open long after the war was over. In the aftermath of the Second World War, Europe emerged both victorious and divided, as divided was the memory of the wartime experience in countries that had collaborated in one way or another with the perpetrators of the Final Solution. The transition to political and social normalcy in Western Europe was facilitated by the collective amnesia that the continent settled into for over two decades as well as by the domination of self justifying narratives that emerged all across Europe in some cases well before the War had ended; from the Italian Secondo Risorgimento to the Austrian Lebenslüge, to the deGaullian Résistance, to the Dutch self image of a small but brave country , to the Norwegian Hjemmenfront the identity of postwar Western Europe was constructed upon national mythologies that sanitised the memory of the war. As Richard Ned Lebow aptly comments meanwhile, everyone blamed the Germans for the Holocaust, the Germans blamed the Nazis, and the Nazis blamed Hitler. According to Katherine Southwood, one of the most prominent sources that verifies this history is the Cyrus Cylinder, which portrays the potential, under Persian imperial leadership, for exiled communities to return to their homeland. Persuasive Essay On Graffiti Since the birth of graffiti in the 1960 s many people were or are either thrown in jail, have to pay a high fine in graffiti damages or are either asked to do graffiti in many museums and art galleries because owners like the art they see and want others to see it too. Graffiti has been around for some time now, most people and the police just see it as a form of destruction and not art they should not just see it as something that is good or evil because these artists are expressing themselves through this art and trying to spread a message. The United States and the U.K need to accept the art and nature or meaning behind this graffiti because it is a way for people to do good things other than rob or go to jail it is also a way for people to get their message out and have others hear them or see them in an artistic way. Generally most people look and take graffiti as a form of destruction and wanting to cause violence, but in the artist s mind they want to be creative and help the people around them by making art to cheer someone up or create a sense of creativity in others. They don t do it to go to jail or because they want to pay a fine they do it because they are open minded and creative. For instance, A lot of attention is given to the broken window theory, which says that signs of disorder like petty vandalism, fare jumping ... and yes, graffiti, open the window to larger crimes, Verel told The Huffington Post. But little is paid to the ways graffiti is harnessed for good in a form that s both constructive and authentic (Patrick Verel). They are taking this broken windows theory too far and only saying it can cause bigger crimes. Some graffiti artists are trying to uplift the neighborhoods and the people they live around with creative art. Also not all graffiti is bad enough to want artists to commit a crime. While making this art or graffiti I don t think that these artist are trying to harm the buildings in any way, but they should ask for permission if they aren t allowed to be painting on these buildings. The Indian Independence Movement The history of the Indian Independence Movement against the British in the 20th Century was evidently influenced and motivated by the underlying differences and perceptions of communal identities. The freedom struggle in essence was also an assertion of the interests and aspirations of the diverse communities of the Indian subcontinent. The Indian National Congress and the Muslim League were the two big powers that sought to mobilize public sentiments in the quest for Independence. While the Muslim League (formed in 1906), stood as a symbol of Islamic nationalism, the INC on the other hand was seen as pro Hindu (with a strong influence of radical groups like the Hindu Mahasabha). Mohammad Ali Jinnah, initially a Congress nationalist, joined the Muslim League in 1913 in order to align the views of the two communities in their collective struggle for freedom.
