2. Drug Legalization In Latin America
Drug Legalization in Latin America Crime rates and violence in Latin America has become ever
more prevalent. Such crimes and acts of violence can be attributed to the drug organizations and
their illegal activities. Currently in Latin America there is a debate about the legalization of certain
drugs/substances in order to lower crimerates and acts of violence as well as combat the drug
organizations that consistently perform such illegal acts. Such policies could in turn reduce the
number of people in jail resulting in less overcrowded prisons as wells as providing a method for
combating corruption. Corruption being one of the common methods that drug organizations use in
order to move their product. However there are those that would argue

Something that I noticed during the class was that no matter if it was your first time taking a
salsa class or your 10th time everyone was so supportive. It reminded me of how everyone treats
each other in the dance department. So, it was very refreshing, to see how supportive everyone
was no matter the number of classes you took or your age. It was just refreshing to see how fun
the class was and I personally never wanted to stop dancing. I think the most important aspect that
I would want to tell a friend was when the instructor assigned us all partners. It turned out that my
partner was an old friend that I went to middle school with who was in there to learn a few steps
for his cousins wedding that was coming up. My favorite part

4. Clinical Trial Essay
Clinical trials are often designed to test new biomedical or behavioral interventions such as new
treatments/drugs, prevention strategies, screening programs, diagnostic tests, and educational
models. The rapid increase in the costs of conducting clinical trials has made the efficient design
of clinical trials more important in recent years. For example, a new report published by Tufts
Center for the Study of Drug Development (CSDD) expresses that the costs of new drug
development which is one of the wide applications of clinical trials have been pegged at $2.558
billion, with a 145% increase over an estimate made in 2003 [9].
2.Clinical trial classification
Clinical trials are divided into two main classes based on how participants are allocated to different
interventions: randomized and non randomized controlled trials [21]. Non randomized trials (also
called quasi experiment) assign participants to the treatments, procedures, or interventions by
methods that are not random. These trials are used when randomization is impractical and/or
unethical. They are typically easier to set up than randomized trials which need random assignment
of subjects. Lack of random assignment in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the simplest case, a 2x2 factorial trial design generates four sets of data to analyze based on
whether subjects receive interventions A only, B only, both A and B, or neither A or B. Thus, the
factorial designs can evaluate not only the effects of each intervention but also the interaction that
may exist between two interventions (or treatments). For this reason, this trial design can be
viewed as an efficient way to conduct two trials in one. However, it is not recommended when
comparing the two interventions to each other is considered as a primary purpose

5. Analysis Of The Film Figural
Figural Portray: American Art in Nineteen Centaury
The artwork is an aesthetic autonomous expression by someone on something. This means that
artwork always has a life of its own that is very separate and different from other affairs of human
beings. The artist making the art will always define the purposes and the functions of his/her arts.
Sometimes it may be the public or the market of the arts that will define the functions of the arts.
Expression by artists through artwork has always expressed, reflected, and influenced the
cultures, places, and time from which the art itself always evolves. The art can also be used for
social and media criticism and that means it helps in objecting to reality. Some people also use
artwork as a tool for knowledge creation and research. It has also got some very important social
benefits like bringing happiness to different people.
The two arts work displayed at Los Angeles County Museum of Art have been selected to
demonstrate how figures of human beings are portrayed through artwork. Both artworks are
analyzed to see that how far they are similar and different to each other but still hold true to their
own philosophies, ethics and values to create a definite style. Thomas Eakins painting Wrestlers,
1899, oil on canvas, 122.9 Г— 152.4 cm and Mary Cassatt painting Mother About to Wash Her
Sleepy Child, 1880, oil on canvas, 121.76 Г— 87.95 Г— 12.07 cm have been selected to represent

6. Analysis Of The Film Nightcrawler
Nightcrawler Through The Homeric Perspective Have you ever been stuck in a bad mood that
causes everything to happen in your day to seem bad? Have you ever had a good day with the
opposite effect? Mood changes perspective on everything. You are always in a mood.
Throughout different ages of the world, mood has always been there influencing the day to day
choices. Hero s are portrayed in modern day society to be someone who is willing to risk their lives
for others, would you consider a hero to be someone who films a toddler being stabbed? Or how
about someone who films the murder of three people and deceives the police? By using mood in
Gilroy s film the Nightcrawler character Louis Bloom represents a classical hero by following the...

Throughout the film Bloom does everything to get the next shot to later show his colleagues.
The audience can sense how desperate he is to get these gruesome videos. Viewers can look at
the way Bloom reacts to how he missed an opportunity to get a video and see how he is truly
consumed in his work. When he misses his opportunity for a film he screams and breaks the
mirror. He truly expresses how he feels broken and how he let himself down. By letting himself
down in a way, he lets God down because he did not please himself, (because he did not get the
shot.) Bloom could be considered a contemporary Odysseus because he deceived the police to
get a video from the news, but, by getting this video he unmasks the murders of the previous
three person murder. This event could be compared to how Odysseus deceived the enemy by
making a trojan horse. In this way deception, plays a role to make both Odysseus and Bloom
similar. Nightcrawler could be classified as a story of a 21st heroic tale because it follows the
key concepts of the Hero s journey. Bloom in Nightcrawler is a very structured character, he
always remains true to his beliefs. When Bloom first gets the call to adventure as he sees the first
sight of night crawling. Bloom goes through all the big developments of a hero. He meets his
mentor Nina, as she pays him for the footage. Throughout the movie Bloom s confidence increases
as he turns down the offer to pair up

7. Essay on Strictly Ballroom Belonging
Belonging or not belonging is the feeling of being included or excluded by a certain group,
person, place or community. This is conveyed very well in the film strictly ballroom produced by
Baz Luhrmen and the picture book The Sneetches by Dr suess. In stictly ballroom, this concept is
primarily conveyed by Scott Hastings struggle with the dancecommunity to find where he truly
belongs. In The Sneetches is refers to the group belonging of the two seperate types of sneetches
and their journey to belong as a community and individually.
In Strictly Ballroom the beginning scenes of the film Baz established the conventional, elegant
atmosphere of the ballroom dancing world. Using a combination of techniques such as graceful
music, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To find a true sense of belonging within a set world, one must have the courage to stay true to
themselves. The protagonists in this film Scott and Fran gradually challenge and redefine the order
of this community. Scott the up and coming star of the ballroom world becomes frustrated with
only dancing the old traditional steps and wants permission to introduce his own kind of steps.
In the illustrated story The Sneetches illustrated and written by Dr. Suess he demonstrates
individuals within a group desperately seeking approval of another group they are made to believe
are more elite.
Not belonging may not be a permanent state. Doug, Scott s father is portrayed as a very quiet
charter who rarely speaks. He is often seen in the dance studio improvising his movements,
which is similar to what Scott did earlier on in the film. However he is often captured through a
high angle shot and very limited lighting making it appear as though the audience is secretly
overlooking his dancing which no one is meant to see. This image suggests that he too wants to
express his passion through dance, but he can only do it in the dark alone as if he is too afraid of
confronting those who oppose it. The darkness around Doug lets him express himself as an
individual and shed his previous conformed life. This is clearly conveying the main idea, that it is
very important to belong but only if an individual can first belong to

8. Argumentative Essay On Prejudice And Prejudice
Social conformity can be toxic, it often leads to the epidemic that is prejudice. To give a better idea
of what prejudice means, Judice translates to judge in Latin, therefore the term prejudice literally
translates into pre judgment . There are innumerable forms of negative preconceived notions that
exist in our world today, the biggest one being racism, which often is a stem of having anti
immigration views. Immigration prejudiceis not unknown to any person who lives in America and
has eyes and ears to know it exists, but it s important to know that prejudice is not innate, it is
learned, and as long as we allow our society to practice xenophobia among present and future
generations we will never be free of it. According to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prejudice doesn t discriminate, it lives in all runs of people: Whites, African Americans, Asians,
Hispanics, Republicans, Democrats, men, women, young, old you name it. In a perfect world this
level of hatred wouldn t be the norm, but it is. It is so widespread that there s tangible evidence that
shows even Hispanics (immigrant or not) have negative affiliations with immigrants. How can this
be when Hispanics take the cake for making up the largest portion of new comers. Interestingly
enough, research done by the Pew Research Center concludes that the more Hispanics have become
accustomed to nativism in American culture, the more likely they are to feel negatively toward the
matter. This sense of superiority is quite frankly sickening, to know that even counterparts of
immigrants could fall suspect of discrimination goes to show its daunting power. What s more, the
false notion that immigrants are purely responsible for the uprooting of crime, scarce resources,
drugs, disease, and more have been fed to natives by the media and those in powerful positions to
continue defacing the image of immigration as there s no solid evidence to justify being anti
foreign. As the descendant of an immigrant father and his father before him, I ve witnessed
firsthand the means and consequences of trying to enter this country and become a citizen. The

WW1 on the western front
In the trenches of ww1 it was hard for all soldiers, so during Christmas day of 1914 along the
western front the two sides joined in no mans land to celebrate Christmas. Both sides of the war
had yet been in a full out battle with each other and that gave them a better mind set to have peace
but even though Paul from all quiet on the western front had been in multiple battles, with the
German army, he still had compassion and still saw the good in life. During the war Paul was
determined to help his friends and work with his buddys even if it meant doing some odd stuff to

11. The Public Administration Theories
This discussion of the relevant literature is grounded in the theoretical work expressed by
Donald C Menzel, (2010), Sharfritz, et al (2011 and 2012), Cooper (2012), and Renz and
Associates (2010). These literature reviews address Public Administration Theories in their
similarities and differences to the societal trends that affect the leadership, policies and decision
making that affect the California HCD in carrying out its mission in affordable housing and
community development. The Theory of Human Motivation by AH Maslow (1943) (Shafritz
Hyde, 2012) states human needs arrange themselves in hierarchies of pre potency. This is to say
one needs rest on the prior satisfaction of another, more pre potent need. Man is a perpetually
wanting animal. In addition, no need or drive can be treated as if it were isolated or discrete;
every drive is related to the state of satisfaction or dissatisfaction of other drives. Motivation theory
is not synonymous with the behavior theory. The motivations are only one class of determinants of
behavior. While behavior is usually motivated, it is also usually biologically, culturally and
situationally determined as well (Shafritz Hyde, 2012). This theory is in line with the California
HCD s mission to providing a societal concern and need that is trending in California with the
affordable housing sacristy and escalating rental prices. As affordable housing and community
development continues to become a dominate societal concern it is

determine appropriate levels of text for reading, and to inform teaching. Taken at intervals, these

frequently. It is individually conducted and informs the teacher on what strategies a student uses to
make meaning of individual words and text as a whole. While the student is readingthe teacher

13. Why Hockey Is The Best Sport
And the Pittsburgh Penguins are on the powerplay with just over a minute left. Crosby has the
puck, oh, fakes the shot, waits and passes to Kessel. Kessel with an across ice pass to Malkin.
Slapshot by Malkin... HE SCORES! Beating Holtby s right pad, now the Penguins are ahead 3
2 with 8 seconds left. Those types of games are very exciting, and they only happen in the world
of hockey. Hockey is the amazing sport that is played on ice with pucks, sticks, and the toughest
players. It is basically impossible to not love hockey, because, well, it is the best sport in the
world. Keep reading to find out the reason why hockey is the best sport ever! We all know the
players are what make up the team (literally), but the hockey players are the toughest of the tough.
They are skilled and also smart in what plays they make, and what can benefit their team the most.
Not only that, but when there is something that they don t like, they trust their instinct and just
fight. Unlike other sports where injuries are faked, hockey players don t complain and rarely get
an injury during a fight. They might sustain a black eye or bloody nose or lip, but those are never

The goalies are backbone of the team, they are what keeps the team and game together. They have
cat like reflexes, bouncing back and doing their best to keep them in the game. Without the
goalie, the team would not be the team that they are. For example, the amazing Vegas Golden
Knights (who recently advanced the Stanley Cup Finals in their inaugural season!), have Marc
Andre Fleury, one of the best goalies in the NHL. Without Fleury, the Golden Knights would have
never made it to the Finals even if they have some of the league s best players. I think that part of
the reason that Fleury is league s best goalie is because he was on the Pittsburgh Penguins for

Movies are a brilliant way to immerse yourself into a wonderful story, full of well developed,
interesting (well, there have been some exceptions) characters. People in the film industry work
hard to come up with a plot line that can draw in many viewers. There are not only movies that
are created as a work of fantasy, but also ones that are inspired by real events that has transpired.
Many have been based on historical events that we learned in history class. Yes, a movie might be
able to teach you a thing or two about the past. What better way to learn history, right?

The Battle of Camden was shown briefly; it was being observed from an abandoned house by
Benjamin and Gabriel when they left to join the war. Benjamin criticised on how Gates led his

army in the movie and in history. The final battle of the film was based on the Battle of Cowpens
and the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. The Battle of Guilford Courthouse has less similarities
to the end battle of the movie than the Battle of Cowpens. On January 16, 1781, Daniel Morgan
took charge of the militia at the Battle of Cowpens. Instead of Morgan in this battle, we have
Benjamin Martin taking the spotlight. Morgan knew that militia might try to retreat, so he made
it to where they cannot run. Behind him and the men was the Broad River, which cut off an
escape route. This made it so the militia would have to choose to fight or die. The battle in the
movie did not show any kind of river around the area. Morgan put his rawest militiamen in the
front line, backing them up with seasoned men from Virginia and his veteran Continental troops
(Phillips). Even the British pointed out in The Patriot how the militia was front and center of the
troops. What the British didn t know was that Morgan also had many more troops behind them.
Each line of troops was spread about 150 yards away from each other and had a larger number of
troops who were more trained the further it went back. Martin had a similar setup going on in the
film. Martin and Morgan had the ones on the frontlines to open fire at the last minute aiming for the
officers. They would have to fire two shots, then run back to the next line of troops. The British, in
turn, would chase after them. Then the next line would do the same thing and go to the back of the
main line to form up together. Tarleton s

17. Courage In Finding Forrester
Having courage to accomplish a new task may not only be extremely difficult for most, but also
harder for one to apply that courage to go out of their way to an unfamiliar place. In the movie
Finding Forrester, both of the main characters, Forrester and Jamal, portray the idea of courage
throughout the entire movie. Finding Forrester is a classic movie about a forgotten author,
Forrester, and a teenager, Jamal, with a hidden dream. Jamal and Forrester create a special bond
between the two of them through their love of writing. This bond between the two allows for
each of them to gain courage. Through this courage, Jamal is able to share his dream with his
peers and Forrester is able to overcome his fear to help Jamal with a conflict with his... Show more

Since Forrester gained a new sense of courage from his friendship with Jamal, it enables him to
go to professor Crawfords classroom and to stand up for Jamal. Jamal is accused of plagiarizing
a paper that he wrote for Crawford s class, but the catch behind is that the beginning of the paper
is actually Forrester s work. This accusation on Jamal creates a new conflict not only for Jamal,
but also for Forrester. Jamals conflict is to either break his promise with Forrester or risk being
accused of cheating. For Forrester, his obstacle is to either overcome his fear or let Jamal suffer
from his mistake. Forrester builds up his courage and goes to read one of Jamal s writings to the
class, and prove that he did not actually plagiarize. Since Forrester secluded himself from all of
society because of his self guilt, it takes a tremendous amount of courage to go out into an
unfamiliar place, especially to a classroom with a professor who attempted to tear him down by
criticizing Forrester.Movielocity (2000) stated, It comes down to a moment of truth for both
men; for Jamal, a choice between following his dream or betraying a friend, and for Forrester, a
decision to remain closed off or to look at the world through new eyes (p.3). Here, movielocity is
saying that because this conflict occurred, it gave both of the men another conflict within
themselves. For Forrester, it was to either remain secluded or to see the world through new eyes
and to help his friend. Since Forrester gained confidence from Jamal, it helped him to make the
right decision with his inner conflict and go to Crawfords classroom and see the world through
fresh eyes. Jamal also portrays courage when he transfers to a new private school. Jamals
previous school is a normal public school while this new private school is prestigious. Since this
is a big change in atmosphere, courage plays a key role in helping Jamal make the transfer from
one school to

Shift. It was decided that Shift shall make all of the decisions since Puzzle is convinced he is not
clever enough. Shift basically has complete control over Puzzle and can manipulate him into
doing anything. While they were walking by the Caldron Pool, they saw a lion s skin in the water.
Shift assures Puzzle to put it on, making him look like Aslan, the king of Narnia. Shift manipulates
the rest of the animals of Narnia into believing that Puzzle is Aslan. Shift uses this opportunity to

The universe is weird. Its positively maddening how, despite knowing so much, we humans only

made every day about multitudes of subjects. Cures for diseases, new background into the first
organisms to inhabit the planet, and new advances in personal technology occur so often that it
may be difficult to be shocked by the world around us. However every so often a discovery is
made, and an experiment goes perfectly right. The discovery of the Higgs Boson is that
experiment. Well, metaphorically speaking it is. The universe and science lend themselves well to
hyperbole however the truth is never so simple. The Higgs Boson is the fundamental particle that

Standard Model is an explanation for how the building blocks of the universe interact with
matter(CERN Accelerating Science, The Standard Model). According to the Standard Model, All
matter is made of elementary particles. Elementary particles are the building blocks of matter and
are separated into two groups, Leptons and Quarks. Both Leptons and Quarks contain groups and
generations. The groups, containing six particles each, are related in pairs known as generations.

The Cycle Continues
With the amount of poverty in our nation, it seems that it is the least of our concern. If we put as
much effort in ending poverty as we do in fighting each other in a race war, we might actually get
somewhere on both grounds. Though there are many studies that have been done on the difference
of education level among race or ethnicity, one thing has been proven, no matter the color or
ethnicity of the child, studies have proved that students who live in poverty score well below
average (Lacoure and Tissington) socially and academically. Children that suffer from poverty are
one point three times more likely to have developmental delays or learning disabilities than those
who don t live in poverty (11 Facts about Education and Poverty in America). Child poverty can
affect a child s foundation of life long skill that they will use as building blocks in creating
relationship with teachers and their fellow peer. Through poverty the intellectual ability and brain
growth of a child can be interfered with if a child s emotional needs are not met, in turn creating
hardships that will follow them throughout life.
It has been shown through many reported studies that a child s performance in life can be affected
by the level of family income. Though there are many ways that these children can be helped
through providing material things, meeting a child s necessity of affection and attention at home is
something that cannot be bought. Anthony W. Orlando wrote

I always enjoy reading about the history of something because it tends to show you the evolution of
it. In this case, the evolution of Quality is there. In the definition of quality in Chapter 2,
Feigenbaum and Crosby both state what they think is the contributing part of quality. Feigenbaum
believes that meeting the customers expectations is the key, while Crosby feels that if you put an
impeccable product out, then that s quality. However, Goetsch and Davis define a hybrid version
of Feigenbaum and Crosby s thoughts on Quality, which incorporate the constant change that is the
customer. The customer is the driving force that makes business produce goods and services. Each
era in the history of quality has its place. Lessons learned along the way have shaped where we are
today Quality Management. In the craftsmanship era, businesses had relationships with their small
town customers who produced small scale personable products or services that could be shared
word of mouth. In order to take quality business into the future there had to be major changes if
companies were going to be able to produce quality on the global scale. Quality managers tried
everything from getting the employees to believe in their work, receive awards, and incentives to
do more with less. The history of Quality Management has driven goods and services to be great,
and change with the customers expectations which continue changing.

of the 19th century. The eighteen hundreds continued the process of the demystification that began
with the Enlightenment. Because of the discoveries of the Enlightenment, humans could no longer
be sure about their place in the universe. This, of course, had an impact on the theater. The

The symbolic nature of the title is drawn out over the course of the play. The play forces the
reader, or viewer, to look beneath the surface of what appears to be a perfect Victorian
household. Ibsen, through the use of realistic stage setting, can show a typical Victorian
household and marriage fall to pieces: He means to make a modern home go to pieces before
our very eyes, from necessity within itself. It must contain everything that can attract:
Simplicity, gladness, power of work, good temper, gentle and strong regard, love of beauty,
merry little children, friends, well managed servants, good habits, good reputation, a position
which has at length been won by praiseworthy endeavors, etc.; but also a husband who has such
an essentially false idea of happiness between man and woman, that it has practically
undermined this delightful home, and it is ready to fall in, at any moment (Lord 96). The
picture of the perfect household that is contained in the setting is symbolic for both Nora and
Torvald. It is symbolic for Nora because it is her job to keep the surface of their lives clean and
tidy. But is also symbolic of her attempt to hide the secrets she has inside. By the play s end Nora
will emerge as the person she really is, a person stripped of the mask of the perfect Victorian
household: At last, in an extraordinary scene, she declares that she can no longer live in her doll s
house; husband and wife sit down

32. Martin Luther King Rhetorical Analysis
Entitled Hierarchy We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to
do right, petitioned Nelson Mandela. Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. knew the essence of time in
Birmingham Alabama, 1963. He brought to his audience ideals of abolishing segregation that
thrived in the South and proactively sought to make change. Using a library of rhetorical
devices, such as allusions, pathos, and similes, King connected his reader to the things he had to
address. King felt it very vital to address the wrongdoing s of the prejudice South. In so, he
makes a lot of allusions to religious ideals, to connect these people with their religious
wrongdoing. With religious allusions, Doctor king was able to put a new take on segregation. In
paragraph 3, he timed this phrase, Injustice anywhere is a threat to injustice everywhere. Making
the point, just because in one part of the country there is racism, segregation, prejudice, etc., this
could lead to something much worse: Segregation everywhere. Stopping the prejudice now could
make a positive impact on future generations, which king petitioned and managed to do. In
paragraph 3, king dedicates the entire paragraph to comparing himself to the apostles, carrying
the word of God. He uses this to not only compare himself to these prophets, but to show he too
will carry his word. King s word is not only of God, but to abolish the old prejudice and
segregation of the South; also to go at any length to fulfill this dream. In

33. Change Blindness And The Field Of Human Sensation And...
Change blindness is a phenomenon in attention where drastic changes to a scene can go unnoticed.
This is important to the field of Human Sensation and Perception because it helps illustrate how a
visual scene is processed. Specifically it shows how even if there is direct attention to a scene, there
are times when drastic changes can occur without perceptionof the change occurring. With
extensive research already conducted illustrating this effect, new research has recently been
conducted studying different types of scene changes in the hopes of understanding which changes
are easier or harder to notice. The results of these studies were quantified by the measurement of
change detection time (usually reported in seconds). This subset of change blindness research has
far reaching practical applications, especially in the field of security and law enforcement. By
applying the knowledge of which type of stimuli lead to longer change detection times training
programs could be developed that allow this population to improve their observationskills.
Literature Review
A study conducted by Gusev, Mikhaylova, and Utochkin used the flicker paradigm as described by
Rensink et. al (1997) to observe the effect of different stimuli on change blindness. The different
stimuli studied were number of objects, object organization, object shape, appearance/disappearance
of an object, object shift, color change of an object, and increasing the interstimulus interval (blank

I have painted many self portraits in my life, but the one that sticks out the most to me is the one

I avoided these female signifiers (Niyazi, 2011) so that the audience would not connect my image
with beauty, which is something that is traditionally connected to women in my society. I created
this image to look masculine in order to show that I am mature, independent, and self possessed
(Niyazi, 2011). Even the background behind me has nothing that would detract from this; the
background is a rich green color that only makes my figure stand out to the viewer.
I can only hope that the women that have looked at this portrait of me are inspired to pursue their
goals and dreams, no matter how foolish they may seem to be by society. I have been fortunate
enough to be allowed to break away from my expected norms and go after the arts. I hear that I am

35. The Old Capital By Yasunari Kawabata
In Yasunari Kawabata s book the old capital, there is a profounding amount of beauty which is
described. One could even argue that the story of Chieko is of secondary importance to
describing the beauty of Kyoto. In every part of the book there always seems to be a reference to
nature and the seasons . In most instances, nature as well as the traditional Japanese festivals in the
noveloften symbolize the parallel of a new modernizing japan and the old traditional Japan.
However, more importantly, the seasonal imagery parallels the story of Chieko herself and the
moods she is feeling. It is no coincidence that kawabata s first chapter is called the flowers of
spring while the last chapter is called winter flowers. As the title of the first chapter suggests, the
beginning of the novel is filled with spring imagery. Spring in Japanese culture is an interesting
time because it symbolizes new life. It s also the time of year that the cherryblossoms begin to
bloom. This sense of new life is also somewhat portrayed in Chieko at this point in the book.
Chieko has only just recently turned 20 and she is brimming with life, even if she does seem to
have a few worries on her mind. Chieko s parents even say to Chieko that she was taken from her
parents from a cherry blossomtree in Gion. Besides the cherry blossoms, there is one other flower
that Chieko seems to take an interest in during the spring. Chieko describes the 2 violets which are

Clearly, many students have taken the mix of furniture to be a benefit, instead of the

the space available to them by spreading out far from each other. When first entering the area,
most students would never think to sit immediately next to someone or even at the table over.
Even I do this myself when entering, never considering sitting close to someone already there.
For example, on one day while I was studying there, there were also three other students were
using this space to study and we were all separated into four different corners. However, there is
some socialization that does take place there. The most common social interactions that I have
witnessed are between students passing through and stopping to talk with those studying in the

hallways of students rooms on the side and the elevator. As a result, the traffic of students is a

During the forty year Tuskegee Study, the government overstepped its duties and infringed on

in order to examine the effects of untreated syphilis in African American men. The study began with
399 subjects with the disease and 201 without it; by the time the research was halted in 1972, over

government ethics boards. This solution provides no room for community involvement or say in
whether or not these trials should be preformed (Jintarkanon et al., par. 6). While a private
organization would have the option of sending syringes and needles, the CDC keeps all of the
decision making under government control and ignores public opinion. The fact that
nongovernmental voices are left out of the evaluation of the trials leaves more room for corruption
and unethical behavior.
In addition to not properly policing unethical research, the CDC also knowingly funds
questionable studies. . It is important to note that the money the CDC puts towards controversial
experimentation comes from American tax dollars. Marcia Angell M.D, the first woman to serve
as editor in chief of the New England Journal of Medicine, describes an example of a CDC

countries to study HIV positive pregnant women. At the time, the drug zidovudine was known to be

At a point in popper s life he was an enthusiast of Marxist socialism, but that enthusiasm was short

They also postulated a broad range of social teleological theories generally called historic ism in
which society was forced into accepting a unilateral version of reality which was wholly certain as

In the defense of the liberal tradition in politics Popper developed certain philosophical positions,
to counter the notions by those philosophers who advocated such illiberal philosophical ideas that
could only lead to the creation of closed societies for the world. The philosophical positions which
popper advanced included a twin edged liberalism , in the sense of peacefully tolerating the
proponents of closed societies in free societies, as long as they stuck to verbal arguments only, and
social engineering by a piecemeal or (gradual) approach to social reforms.
Popper considered the west and the rest of the world endangered by the influence of such thought
that promoted a historicist or collectivist frame of social thought. This sort of frame for social
thought he argued could only lead to the establishment of authoritarian and totalitarian forms of
government, which would in turn suppress and constrain the liberties and lives of people in the
long run.

39. Jim Crow Newspapers
After the end of Reconstruction in the Southern United States, many emancipated slaves looked to
the North for a number of opportunities that evaded them in the Jim Crow south. Either
individually, as a family, or sometimes as a whole community, African Americans made their way
to more northern states. The ability to move not just from plantation to plantation but now around
the entire country as well as own land, and receive and education in order to earn a skilled labor
job were hallmarks of the newly free group. Newspapers became important staples in these new,
majority black communities. The Wichita Protest in Kansas was produced in the early 1900s and
focused itself on everything from social to economic to political issues. Although... Show more

no surprise Coca Cola invests so much in a black newspaper such as The Wichita Protest due to the

40. Flying Spaghetti Monster Research Paper
The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (often shortened to FSM), also known as the
Pastafarian Church, and Flying Spaghetti Monsterism, was created in 2005 after a letter protesting
the teaching of intelligent design in schools, written by Prophet Bobby Henderson, was posted
online. Since that time, The FSM has gained much internet fame and what Henderson estimates to
be millions, if not thousands . The Church is founded on the belief that the world was created by
the benevolent and undetectable mythical being known as the Flying Spaghetti Monster. It is
commonly believed by members that, after drinking heavily, he created the world in four days,
starting with a mountain, a tree, and a midget, later creating a wench for the midget, whom all
humans are descended from. The church states that their envisionment of heaven is... Show more

symbol. These images are often used in Pastafarian propaganda, which is also the church s main
source of income. The language of the Church is rather unique. Pastafarians almost entirely agree
that the more someone talks using pirate lingo, the more devout a believer they are. Because of
this, one of the Church s few holidays is International Talk Like A Pirate Day, which is celebrated
on September 19th. They also end all prayers, official or invented, with the phrase R Amen
(sometimes written rAmen), as something of a spoof of the phrase Amen . While an argument
could be made that the Church is a counter culture for their desire to keep intelligent design and
other religious teaching out of schools, the Church is definitively a subculture. They are simply a

Task 1:
The role of a teacher has changed considerably over the years in the past the teacher may have
been perceived as being the fountain of all knowledge and the purveyor of information. I would
like to think we are still the fountain of all knowledge but the way we deliver our courses has
changed considerably. We no longer stand at the front of the class with rows and rows of learners
sitting waiting for us to transmit the information to them.
As a teacher we are now the facilitator of knowledge. Our job is to guide the learners and allow
them to take responsibility for there own learning. We are less likely to have students in rows in
front of us and more likely to have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Abstract conceptualization is when we come to a decision about what we would do differently next
time. The way we would come to a decision is through further studying or staff development and
reading the right literature.
Active experimentation is the conclusion of our abstract conceptualization stage and provides the
platform that we can plan our changes. Once we have administered these changes we can then start
the cycle again and have some new concrete experiences.
Kolb also described how Lewin s action research and T group training in laboratories was
influenced by the concept of feedback that was used by electrical engineers. This feedback process
involved concrete experience; observations and reflections; formation of abstract concepts and
generalizations; and testing implications of concepts in new situations . The similarities with Kolb

43. Modern Day Mass Shooter
Seeing stories about mass shootings on the news is an everyday occurrence. Mass shootings occur
when people intentionally and indiscriminately shoot multiple people at one venue or at one time.
In the United States, there have been 62 mass shootings in the last thirty years. There have been 24
in the last seven years, alone. If he lived in the twenty first century the monster in Frankenstein, by
Mary Shelly and the movie by the same title, directed by James Whale, would be a modern day
mass shooter. The monster and serial shooters share some comparably important traits, such as
being bullied by humans, wanting revenge, and having psychological problems.
To some, being bullied is not a big deal; but to others (such as the monster and many mass
shooters) being bullied affects their outlook on the world. To bully, according to Miriam Webster
Dictionary, is to frighten, hurt, or threaten (a smaller or weaker person): to act like a bully toward
(someone): to cause (someone) to do something by making threats or insults or by using force both
the monster and many mass shooters have experienced high levels of bullying, which possibly led
to the massacres. In particular, a well known duo of boys became mass shooters after being
continuously bullied by their classmates. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed twelve people and
injured 24 at Columbine High School. According to the New York Times, in an article comparing

experienced attorneys. Complex contract disputes may involve multiple businesses and
individuals, as well as the careful analysis of various contract terms. Many complex contract
disputes in Florida end up in state or federal court, where they linger for months or even years
before they are finally resolved. However, mediation is also a viable option for these complex

The attorneys and the mediator should also discuss how the session will proceed for example,
will the parties be divided into groups? Which issues will be mediated first? Will mediation occur
over the course of several sessions? The key to successfully mediating complex contract disputes is
to carefully and thoroughly prepare for the session.
Finally, do not forget the importance of preparing your clients. Though this may be your hundredth
mediation, it is probably their first.
Business Divorces and Limited Liability Company Lawsuits in Florida
Limited liability company lawsuits in Florida can be a complicated process. Prior to signing a
representation agreement with a client in a limited liability company lawsuit in Florida, you must
make sure that certain issues have been handled properly.
First, you must make sure that the individual hiring you has the authority to do so. This usually
requires a close study of the limited liability company s operating agreement. In fact, a wise
practice is to have your scheduling staff ask these individuals to bring copies of their operating
agreements to their first consultation with you. This will save time and allow the representation to
quickly proceed.
After you have determined the issues in the business divorce (also called dissolution, since the split
involves a limited liability company) you should advise your clients about the advantages of
mediation.

45. Money Expended In Electoral Campaigns
It is a reality universally agreed upon that there is a baseless aggregate of wealth that is expended in
electoral campaigns in the United States of America. One does not need to investigate any further
than the previous federal election, where the unmitigated sum of affluence was greater than the vox
populi of Earth, to comprehend the actuality that the immersion of money in politics has developed
into a concern that must be amended. Furthermore, if this issue is permitted to continue, then the
entire American campaign system remains tainted due to the fact that the politician with more
wealth is able to propagandize better. It is essential that the regulations of campaign finance are
reformed in the United States; for in modern politics, money has an abundant amount of influence

doing so, money has a reduced influence over voters for they are not being impinged on by

affluence one can disburse; however, the extent of money one could expend would vary (i.e. a
candidate in a federal election is allowed to utilize more wealth than a candidate in a state level
election). Consequently, not only would this ruling reduce the unjustified sum consumed in every

46. The Belief Of Quakers And Catholics
There are many different views in the world on how and why we all came to be and by who s
power. This leads to the formation of many unique religions, who each have developed separate
distinguishable views about a personal God or lack thereof. While there may be significant
differences between each religion, they also have many similarities. This is true for Quakers and
Catholics. Although Quakerism and Catholicism share similar beliefs in the historical Jesus ,
Quakers seem more accommodating to today s religious people when considering current uprising
issues, including homosexuality, abortion, and authority of their faith than are Catholics.
Quakerism came into existence as an offshoot of Christianityin the 17th century. The main belief
of Quakers focuses on an equal access to God for all people otherwise known as spirituality
equality. People of this religion believe that no race, gender, class, or other group has any sense
of entitlement to divine revelation over another (Sullivan Julia). In the church setting, Quakers are
very welcoming. In fact, prior to my attendance of a Quaker meeting, I visited their website and
the very first page had these big letters that read, You Are Welcomed Here . I saw this same
welcoming when I attended the meeting at First Friends Meeting in Richmond, IN. Those who
attended greeted me at the door and conversed with me after the meeting. Both conversations,
while brief, made me feel welcomed. Welcoming is a sign of the Quaker belief

48. Models Of Development Effort Estimation
Models of Development Effort Estimation
Introduction
Development effort estimation is often among the first steps when considering a software
engineering project. Estimation is crucial for determining the value of a project: whether it will be
a project that is able to be completed, a project that is worth pursuing, and a project that is
economically justified. A reasonable and informed cost estimate can only be reported to a customer
after effort estimation analysis has been performed.
Formal models, created to improve the accuracy of effort estimation, date back as early as the
1960s when computer software was still in its youth. In recent decades, more flexible alternatives
to the hard and fast formal models have been offered. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

New techniques simply haven t improved the results much. Jorgensen says that comparisons
between estimation accuracy between now and the 1980s show about the same figures.3
There are two main categories of software development effort estimation: model based estimation
and expert judgment, with model based estimation often broken up into subcategories. The first part
of this paper will discuss the most traditional techniques for model based estimation using statistical
regression analysis. Then, the value of expert analysis will be discussed. Next, newer methods of
modeling and estimating development effort will be examined, followed by a look at effort
estimation in the agile field.
Early Models: Regression and Function Point Analysis
Model based effort estimation for software development began with research conducted in the mid
sixties identifying characteristics of software projects. At first, partial models based on the
researched attributes were used. Software development was still young and the push for efficiency
in software creation had not caught up to the focus on hardware. As software complexity continued
to rise in the seventies, more advanced and complicated models were produced.4
Parametric regression models are among the earliest types of models used for software effort
estimation.5 They have also been one of the most studied

Beginning on April 6, 1994, Hutus began a mass slaughtering of the Tutsis in the African country
of Rwanda. This mass slaughtering is labeled as genocide, the deliberate obliteration of an ethnic,
racial, religious, or political group. The Rwandan genocide lasted 100 days while other countries
stood idly by and watched the brutal killings continue. The hatred against the Tutsis began after the
RPF invasion in October of 1990. Accusations from editorials and radio broadcasts claimed Tutsis

George Stanton, the president of Genocide Watch, suggested genocide develops in eight stages that
are predictable but not inexorable (Mare, 2011). Stage one is classification where people are
alienated into us and them depending on ethnicity, nationality, race, and religion; in this case,
German and Jew, Hutu and Tutsi depict the mentality of the superior group. According to Mare, The
main preventive measure at this early stage is to develop universalistic institutions that transcend
ethnic or racial divisions, that actively promote tolerance and understanding, and that promote
classifications that transcend the divisions (2011).
Symbolization, the second stage, is used to classify these groups; names or symbols may be forced
upon reluctant members of the groups. For example, the Nazis used the yellow star to symbolize
the Jews; this symbol was worn on clothing or imprinted on Jewish establishments. A preventive
measure used to combat the symbolization is to outlaw hate symbols along with hate speech.
The next includes dehumanization, where one group establishes their superiority and rejects the
humanity of an additional group. Animals, insects, or diseases are normally equated with members
of the dehumanized group; case in point, the Hutus equated the Tutsis with cockroaches during the

The average person tries to follow a set of beliefs, an above average person follows a set of beliefs.
Tons of people argue whether the Ten Commandments or the Beatitudes should be followed. The
Ten Commandments can only be viewed one way. The Beatitudes seem vague and can be construed
in a multitude of different ways. Then Ten Commandmentsdemonstrate simplicity, whereas the
Beatitudes look complex and confusing, ergo cultures should follow the Ten Commandments over
the Beatitudes. In all honesty the Beatitudes seem to confuse people. The ideas that Jesus tried to

Cultures and groups of people that pursue different lifestyles tend to disagree with each other. If
these people would follow one set of rules they would always be able to go back their set of beliefs,
the Ten Commandments, and resolve the issue based on their rules. The Ten Commandments make
sense and they supersede the Beatitudes. If a group of twenty people viewed the Ten
Commandments with no bias, they would all come to the same conclusion. If that same group
looked at the Beatitudes with no bias, they would come to a plethora of conclusions. In comparison,
the Ten Commandments prevail as rules while the Beatitudes remain suggestive and perplexing. To
adduce the Ten Commandments even further a culture could inspect the contrast between a few of
the Commandments and the Beatitudes. Exodus 20:8 reads Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it
holy, and Matthew 5:6 reads Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for
they shall be filled. When an individual reads the line from the Ten Commandments they know
exactly what they need to do. Simply do not forget about the Sabbath. When looking at the
Beatitudes, that individual would draw several outcomes. These two rules share a similar thought,
the idea that being righteous will lead to eternal life. But, the Ten Commandments states this in a
