Hip hop gave a voice to the poor and disenfranchised, often expressing anger at social issues like poverty and racism. While sometimes joyful, hip hop has served as an outlet for urban black communities for over 30 years.
The document discusses a faith-based international charity organization that provides humanitarian aid based on Islamic philosophy. While the organization's identity as an Islamic group helps generate resources from Muslim donors, it does not primarily motivate employees. The organization faces challenges like other aid groups, but is able to recover staff morale after crises through decentralized management and ongoing training.
Here are the key points about dopamine:
- Dopamine is a neurotransmitter produced in the substantia nigra and ventral tegmental area of the basal ganglia in the brain.
- Its production involves a two-step process where the amino acid tyrosine first reacts with the enzyme tyrosine hydroxylase to produce L-Dopa.
- L-Dopa then reacts with the enzyme L-Dopa decarboxylase to finally produce dopamine.
- Dopamine provides both excitatory and inhibitory responses by acting on axon networks in the brain.
- It plays an important role in processes like reward, motivation, pleasure, and motor control by signaling between neurons.
Nuclear Transport And Its Effect On Breast Cancer Tumor CellsStephanie Clark
The document discusses nuclear transport and its role in breast cancer tumor cells. It explains that nuclear transport involves the movement of large molecules in and out of the cell nucleus through nuclear pore complexes. It notes that various nuclear transport pathways play an important role in the progression and suppression of breast cancer tumor cells. Disrupting nuclear transport sequences can alter protein localization and functionality, as seen with spleen tyrosine kinase, which is a candidate tumor suppressor for breast cancer.

This document discusses the evolution of TCP/IP and the internet. It explains that prior to the 1960s, computer communication consisted mainly of simple text and binary data transmitted over telephone circuit networks. In the 1960s, Paul Baran described a robust packet switching network that would be more efficient. This led to the creation of the ARPANET in the late 1960s, which used early versions of protocols like TCP and IP. TCP and IP were combined into the TCP/IP protocol suite in 1974 to better handle the increasing network load. The TCP/IP protocol suite became widely adopted and led to the commercialization and growth of the internet.

South Korea has transformed from an impoverished country following the Korean War to an economic powerhouse in just a few decades. This was achieved through an export-led economic model driven by large business conglomerates called chaebols. Hyundai Motor Company is one such chaebol that grew to become a leading automaker. Through strategic leadership and a focus on developing human capital and technological skills, Hyundai was able to become self-reliant in new product development, introducing indigenous models like the Sonata that drove its success. However, overwork in Korean conglomerates can negatively impact productivity and worker well-being.
The document discusses earthquakes and provides details about the Great Chilean Earthquake. It occurred at a subduction zone off the coast of Chile, a hot spot for seismic activity. At subduction zones, two tectonic plates converge with one plate sliding under the other as they make contact. The denser oceanic plate subducts under the less dense continental plate. The Great Chilean Earthquake was caused by movement at this subduction zone boundary between the Nazca and South American tectonic plates.

3. Theme Of Female Autonomy In Beowulf
Does the poet use the female characters in Beowulf to reinforce the limits of female autonomy?
In regard to female autonomy and Beowulf, it cannot be ignored that many of the women portrayed in
the poem were acting as expected of them in the time period, or alternatively acting against it. The two
main examples of this within Beowulf are the characters of Wealtheow and Grendel s mother. Both of
these women highlight how this society impacts and limits female autonomy, but both women
seemingly went down different life paths and here I will examine how this relates to how female
autonomy in this world has impacted them. Wealtheow and Grendel s mother are arguably the two
most important female characters in Beowulf, and out of all the women in ... Show more content on

While I only focused on two women in particular, there are many other instances of women within
Beowulf being literally sold off, being pushed to the side and remaining quiet and letting the men of
the society rule. The characters of Wealtheow and Grendel s mother are two sides of a coin, with one
living as a queen but not really existing or forging her own values, and the other being shunned for
rejecting the patriarchal attitudes and finding her own rules to abide by. But yet, both of these
characters provided enough information on the society to highlight the gross inequality that women or
female figures at this time felt despite having only minor parts in the life of the hero Beowulf, and to
him (and all the other men) neither of these women were more than a small blip on his radar. This
subconscious disregard of femininity on both Beowulf s and the entire society s part only serves to
limit the autonomy of the females who existed alongside them and to highlight my points of how it

4. Pluto Should Be Promoted From Pluto s Original Planet Status
Outer space is a realm of new discoveries and possibilities. There is one particular planet in our solar
system that is brimming with these possibilities. However, for nine years it has not actually been
considered a planet. The dwarf planet , Pluto, has been overlooked and misrepresented in astronomy
and planetary science. Since being demoted from planet status to dwarf planet status, little Pluto has
raised some big questions about what defines a planet and what does not. In this paper, I will attempt
to persuade you that Pluto should be promoted back to its original planet status. First, I will give you a
brief history of Pluto, from its discovery to what prompted its reclassification. Next, I will explain the
definition of a planet as given by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and the definition s
flaws. Finally, I will discuss the recent discoveries of the New Horizons mission and how these new
discoveries should lead to the reclassification of Pluto to its original planet status.
History of Pluto
Pluto was discovered in 1930 by Clyde W. Tombaugh and was reclassified as a dwarf planet in 2006.
This means that for almost eighty years, all of mankind knew that Pluto was a planet. The real trouble
for Pluto came in 1992 when David Jewitt and Jane Luu discovered the first celestial objects in a
region now called the Kuiper Belt (Weintraub, 2015). Pluto is considered one of the largest celestial
objects in the belt (Redd, 2012). However, there are some objects in

5. Restitution As A Means Of Reconciling Offender
Restitution as a means of rehabilitating offenders tries to give the offenders a better understanding of
what they have done, and the effects they have caused due to their actions. Punishing them with jail
time does not seem to be enough to get offenders to understand the magnitude of their crime. If they
have the ability to pay back the victims it will give them a sense of accomplishment and will allow
them to feel as if they are doing good and correcting their mistakes. Restitution as a means of
reconciling offender and their victims give the ideology that if they fully paid the person they hurt that
they can both put their anger behind them and move on from what had happened. Restitution as a

This individual reflection on the group work will present how I have seen the application of the
principles of Primary Health Care (PHC) through the roles of the community health workers (CHW)

critical bottlenecks that hinder the effectiveness of the CHWs. Having the experience of working as a
District Health Officer, this reflection will highlight most significant areas that I feel require attention
to improve the health system in the country. This reflection will be based on the two case studies of
CHWs in Malawi and Sri Lanka namely, the Health Surveillance Assistants (HSAs) and Eye Health

Non Communicable Disease screenings, health education as well as discussing cultural issues, child

8. The Dairy Industry Is Humane
Lillie Colville Honors English 10 Period 2 March 12, 2016 The Dairy Industry is Humane The
agriculture industry, focusing on the dairy cattle industry, in the U.S.A. is humane and non abusive.
The Dairy Industry raises, breeds, and milks female dairy cattle. The cows are either bought from calf
farms or born at the dairy in which they are raised to be about one or two years old until they are bred
by a bull of their same breed. Then, once the heifers give birth, they are put into the milking process.
According to How much milk do cows give? , these cows will produce anywhere from 18,000 pounds
of milk per year to a record breaking 72,000 pounds per year. America has the fourth highest average
milk production records which is 21, 335 pounds per year as of 2015(1). These cows are milked twice
a day during their fresh period which is the 10 months after having a calf in which they are being
milked. The cows then rest for two months and are bred and milked for another 10 months. Overall,
milking cows in America live in the dairy industry for about six or seven years until they die naturally
or are killed off due to being not profitable to the dairy world. Animals are used in the agricultural
commodity industry due to their uses and lack of rights. Animal s rights are lower than human s rights
due to the fact that animals brains are not as developed as humans and cannot express feelings;
however, animals have basic rights to life and care from man (Rohr 20). Animals have

The next day, Anton told me, yesterday really happen real fights between the participants of the game.
I really regret not being able to see a real fight. I can only imagine the fight was like a story in the
movie The Karate Kid.
When did I ask how the end results? Anton tells if they won the game. But after the game is finished,
then their Dojo fight with others Dojo elsewhere.
The question now is if I and Anton still there, whether both of us will be beaten like in the movie The
Karate Kid? Due to the shots of the two of us which caused the match to be the hot atmosphere. I also
do not know the answer. :)
There are still a lot of stories about me and Anton is not told here due to the limited number of words.
To date I will never forget has had a friend named Antonius because we have experienced no day
without laughing while still in college with him.
Anton now lives and works in Sydney, Australia. While I lived in Tangerang, Indonesia.

Branches of Government When the Constitution of the United States of America was signed and

The legislative branch, made up of a House of Representatives and Senate; The executive branch,
which includes the President, Vice President, and the executive cabinet members; Finally, the judicial
branch, consisting of the state and federal courts. The framers believed that all three branches in

deals and create their own military forces without regard to what another state was doing. The Articles
also gave the congress no power to tax, and therefore the expected duties of defense and care of the
national economy could not be accomplished. This continued until 1786, when a citizen revolt referred
to as Shay s Rebellion occurred. The rebellion was made up of former Revolutionary War veterans
who were trying to keep the government from foreclosing on their property due to unpaid taxes. The
members of the congress were urged to send in help to put down the rebellion, but they had no force to

the need for more national control. The constitutional convention in 1787, the framers discussed and

Self confidence is the foundation of success, achievement, and happiness. Unfortunately, the

first club soccer coach. He seemed brilliant, passionate, and willing to work with my team. This man

15. Computer Literacy And The Technology Essay
As the world changes to become a global village thorough technological innovations, computer
literacy gets considered as a very important skill to possess. This is fueled by the fact that nearly every
company has become more dependent on computers and other technology to boost its business
efficiency. Computer literacy is thus an important for one to understand how computers work and
operate and is defined as the knowledge and capability to use computers as well as other related
technology in an efficient manner. It entails the familiarity to computers and the skill of their use.
Most people around the world have access to computers and other devices that can connect to the
internet. It is through these gadgets that people can connect with each other, share stories and photos,
interact with clients and fellow company staff using the social networks. Therefore, social network
sites provide crucial computer literacy activity, as more people who use the internet learn to negotiate
interfaces, personal data and user agreements. By looking at the technological and social factors that
influence computer literacy practices in online networks would provide a basis for understanding the
impact such sites have on people and businesses. Social network sites are the web based services
allowing people to articulate other users with a mutual connection, create a profile within a bounded
system as well as view and navigate the conversations made by other users of the network system.

INTRODUCTION Some people suffer severe motor impairments cannot express their thoughts as
healthy for assistance of patients and can be controlled by user alone. It uses EEG signals as input and
produces output signals in the form of inverse DWT. Communication system between human brain
and computer is called BCI. This enables generation of control signals from brain signals, such as
sensory motor rhythms and evoked potentials, therefore persons, because they are not capable of
talking or moving. But still they are conscious and capable of performing mental tasks equivalent to

helps him to express thoughts for translating their actions into activity using BCI. The advantage of

It seems several of the world s greatest discoveries are on accident. Over the next several years the
French and the English attempted settlements and control on Madagascar but failed miserably, one
memorable Christmas day 1672 local tribe members attacked Fort Dauphine (the current French
colony) brutally and purposefully killing fourteen men and thirteen women. This massacre is rumored
to have been because these fourteen men deserted and divorced native Malagasy women in order to
marry younger and purer French women. This battle lasted a long eighteen months as the French
remained barricaded in their fort while the angry tribal members raged battle. In 1674 thirty remaining
men and the one widow were saved by the arrival of the French East India Company. The next several
years between 1680 and 1725 Madagascar was a famed and feared pirate cove, which during these
years hundreds of European vessels were ransacked of all their valuables and scrapped to the island, as
a result Madagascar became on of Europe s most feared shipping routes. The Merina monarchy began

Naturalism is an extension to realism that is often much harsher and more unforgiving. There are
many criterion that determine whether a text falls under the category of naturalism. Ernest

specifically at his short story The Big Two Hearted River . Though Naturalism is a big part of
Hemingway s writing, one would be remiss to simply stop their analysis on the naturalistic elements

Objectivism is a technique used where the author excludes most, if not all, of the character s past and
identity so that the character becomes a simple observer. In The Big Two Hearted River , the reader
knows very little about the character Nick in order to focus more on the plot and what happens to the
character, rather than the character themselves (Zhang 2.2). The objectivism of Nick in the story goes
a step further. Hemingway s focus on the characters actions demonstrates how Nick s technique allows
him to move beyond the deterministic world to create his own purpose. Hemingway only includes
information about Nick to help the reader understand what he is trying to achieve. Nick took him by
the head and held him while he threaded the slim hook under his chin, down through his thorax and
into the last segments of his abdomen. The grasshopper took hold of the hook with his front feet,
spitting tobacco juice on it. Nick dropped him into the water (Hemingway 191). Much of the story is a
series of descriptions of Nicks actions much like the example given above. There is not much focus on
the characters thoughts or feelings. Nick s actions are the most important part of the story because
they align themselves with his purpose; to systematically and ceremonially kill, out of necessity rather
than for no reason. Nick reconnects with nature throughout the text, but instead of nature having
control over the consequences of his actions, he is the one who controls the outcome. This goes
against the traditional naturalistic style where characters hopelessly battle against nature and no matter
what they do cannot achieve their goal because nature is stronger and determines the outcome of their
actions. Nick s appearance, age or health have very little to do with the Hemingway s idea of how to
become more masculine , for him men must first use proper technique in order to create meaning

The dance community that surrounds me has been the most impactful in my life. My mother first
signed me up for dance classes when I was only four years old, and now almost fifteen years later I am
still dancing. I started out at a dance studio in Gresham, Oregon, where I then danced for ten years. I
took classes, performed, and started competing against other dancers and studios around when I was
nine years old. It didn t hit me that I enjoyed performing until I started dancing in more and more
shows. Dance was a struggle for many years at this specific studio. There was a lot of moves that I

I knew two people at this studio and I was definitely farther behind than all the dancers my age. It

new studio no one knew me. I rarely got any compliments and only critiques that entire first year. The
summer before my sophomore year I took classes and started really focusing on improving my
technique as I didn t have the distractions of the school year. I started getting compliments and started
gaining knowledge and skills in my tap classes. I auditioned for the competition team that the studio
had my sophomore year and I got cast in a specific role that was made just for me. It was at this point
where I started focusing on dance and only tried out for the school musicals instead of every show
during the school year because I knew I could still be performing in my acting classes, but my dance
needed the most improvement, so in order to help me for my future career I decided that the best thing
was to pursue dance in every way I could. I started going to conventions and doing solo routines as
well as my group routines with the other dancers in the studio at competitions, and I actually wasn t
doing half bad. I began receiving compliments and growing closer to the girls I now call family. I

King Kong: The Entertainment of the Masses It s money and adventure and fame. It s the thrill of a

dollars in just one night for the exhibition of the Eighth Wonder of the World. Thousands of New
Yorkers paid twenty dollars per ticket, or the equivalent to three hundred sixty nine dollars in today s
currency, to gaze at a prehistoric ape. This gaze found in King Kong is the imperial gaze developed
against foreigners in early Hollywood travel films. Ann Kaplan comments on early travel films in

It is worthy to mention that Kong had not roared as loud as in this scene (not on stage at least) to
notice that the flash was what triggered Kong to act in a savage manner. It is then clear that the use of

Mannitol
Mannitol can be truly useful in the clinical setting as a diagnostic agent, osmotic diuretic and urinary
irrigant. Mannitol s chemical class is hexahydroxy alcohol and it is a pregnancy category B drug.
Mannitol is a six carbon sugar and is known by the generic name of mannitol or Osmitrol, which is the
most common brand name. Mannitol is usually available in 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% injection
form. Mannitol is considered a diuretic which promotes urine production. It is also helpful in
preventing the kidney from shutting down. It increases osmotic pressure of the glomerular filtrate,
inhibiting reabsorption of water and electrolytes and creates an osmotic gradient in the glomerular
filtrate and blood (Lippincott Williams ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lippincott Williams Wilkins (2008) describe the absorption to be administered though I.V. which will
result in a rapid distribution that remains in the cell; it is vaguely metabolized and effortlessly filtered
by the glomeruli. It is crucial to point that mannitol crosses the placenta and may enter into the breast
milk in female patients. Mannitol is usually excreted primarily in urine.
As stated by Ronco, C., Bellomo, R., Kellum, J. A. (2009), osmotic diuretics like mannitol are
distributed rapidly withdrawing water from the intracellular space. As a result, headache, vomiting,
and nausea are the most common side effects in patients. If mannitol is used in excess without
appropriate water intake it can result in critical dehydration. As mannitol withdraws water from the
cells, hydrogen and potassium ions raise causing hypokalemic acidosis. Other possible adverse effects
of mannitol are as follow: confusion, disorientation, dizziness, lightheadedness, syncope, vertigo,
gastric disturbances, hypernatremia, dehydration, circulatory overload, thrombophlebitis, hypotension,
hypertension, edema, tachycardia, chest pain, diuresis and pulmonary congestion

Steve McGarrett is a police officer and main character in the TV show Hawaii Five 0. While some of
his behaviors on the show can seem very strange and even dangerous, they can all be easily explained
using the four perspectives on personality. McGarrett grew up in Hawaii with his two parents and
sister, but his mom died when he was 13, she faked her death because she was a CIA agent, and he
was sent to a military boarding school on the US mainland. Steve, in a way, used repression to cope
with his mother s death by never consciously thinking about her until he found out she was actually
still alive. While he didn t have a true father figure at his military academy to replicate, he was taught
how to be the perfect man by the Navy. This is somewhat related to the identification process how a
child begins to replicate their parents values. Steve still follows many of the same routines as he did
during the Navy and also follows many similar behavioral ideals. Steve was taught that true men never
show any emotion, so therefore Steve had a never strong superego and rarely got flustered or upset.
He is always able to keeps his emotions in check and never lashes out in anger for any reason. On the
other hand, he is also very stubborn and makes many very dangerous choices without much of a
second thought, showing how his id is also very prominent. All of these personality theories can be

How does William Wordsworth s poetry fit into the literary tradition of Romanticism?
Q. How does William Wordsworth s poetry fit into the literary tradition of Romanticism?
A. Romantic poetry was an artistic movement of the late 18th and early
19th century. It dealt with nature, human imagination, childhood and the ability to recall emotional
memories of both happiness and sadness. Before Wordsworth began writing his revolutionary new
style of poetry, all preceding poetry had a very different style.
The reason these poems were classed as revolutionary was because he believed that romantic poetry
should describe incidents of common life and ordinary people and were written in deliberately plain
words. It was what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and a single small cottage the only dwelling on earth that she loves She looks, her heart to heaven
This shows how happy she is at seeing her cottage, in the countryside that she loves.
However, this soon fades. The images go away and she is sad once again as she goes back to her
unhappy life in the city where she feels trapped. This fits into Romanticism by including most of the
main features. It deals with human feelings and how Susan is sad. It includes memories and the use of
imagination. It also shows probably the most important feature, which is a love of nature. We see that
Susan feels truly happy surrounded by hills and pastures.
We also see this in Wordsworth s most famous and well known poem
Daffodils . Wordsworth thought of his poetry as originating in
emotion recollected in tranquillity . His memories were memories of strong feelings of happiness
brought about by something or some landscape connected to the nature.
In Daffodils , we again see all the features that make this poem fit into the tradition of Romanticism
and Romantic Poetry.
Wordsworth describes nature and says how beautiful it is and the beauty he sees when he looks at the
daffodils.
when all at once I saw a crowd, a host of golden daffodils .
He also uses his imagination to see the daffodils almost as human beings. He describes their

making money, by being funny and original, to take that originality and try to pass it off as your own
and especially if you get paid for it (as is the case in the article) is just cruel.
My opinion on this topic is that it varies from situation to situation, when it comes to news related
jokes, there is only a slim margin of ways to come up with a punch line. For example, I watch a decent
amount of the late comedic nightly news shows such as, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Late Show
with Stephen Colbert, and The Daily show with Trevor Noah. To be frank, most of their monologues
sound similar and have a recognisable pattern with their jokes. Being that they report on the news of
the day with a comedic twist, they frequently have close if not almost identical jokes, in this case I
think it s not stealing each other s jokes it might just be closer to that their writers had close, if not,
identical ideas for jokes. On the other side of the problem, there are situations in which a stand up

deciding what type of mortgage will best meet your needs. In today s mortgage market, the types of
mortgages available to you can be divided into two categories, adjustable and fixed interest rate
mortgages.
Before discussing the benefits and pitfalls of each mortgage type, let s recap their primary differences.
A fixed rate mortgage is a mortgage where the rate and the monthly mortgage payments are fixed to a

however, is a mortgage where the rate can fluctuate throughout the life of the loan. Because the rate in

According to the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) physical child abuse occurs
when a parent or caregiver commits an intentional act that results in physical injury to a child or
adolescent, such as red marks, cuts, welts, bruises, muscle sprains, or broken bones. Physical abuse
can occur when physical punishment goes too far or a parent acts out in anger. Even corporal
punishment that do not result in physical injury are considered physical abuse and are outlawed in
some states. Children of all ages, races, ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds are at risk for
physical abuse. Children ages 4 7 and 12 15 are at the greatest risk of being physically abused. Very
young children are most susceptible to receiving serious injuries because they are more vulnerable and
depend on others to care for them (NCTSN, 2009). An estimated 1 in 4 children living in the United
States experience some form of maltreatment. In 2014, more than 6.6 million children and their
families were reported to Child Protective Services for allegations of child maltreatment (Ho, Gross,

Richard III In Real Life Shakespeare used the physical deformities and the gray areas of history to
create one of the most well known villains of all time. Shakespeare s play, Richard III, is the leading
voice in the Richard III story. He is portrayed as an ugly villain, an image that is fueling the way
people think, talk and reference Richard III. In reality he differed as a person, but many mysteries
remain unsolved. The murder of the princes in the tower at the hand of Richard III is still undecided.
In more recent terms we are able to see what he actually looked like and if his physical appearance
played the role it did in real life. Richard III is an unloved king by many people even though we base
most of our assumptions on a play.
One of the most definitive differences between the play and history is Richard s appearance.

princes were in the way of the throne (Hicks, 362). If he isn t guilty of this crime it could change the

35. Difference Between Grand Theory And Grand Theories
A theory is a statement that rationalizes the relationship between variables, within a set of
assumptions. It is a proposed justification for the complexities of the world around us. So a notion that
provides an answer to the question why is a theory. It could be connections between different
phenomena, why something occurs or does not occur, with a set of logical arguments.
There are generally two main kinds of theories. Grand theory and Empirical theory. A grand theory is
one that is unbounded by temporal or special boundaries. It can be applied to any population at any
time and it would still be proven correct. They are abstract in nature. Theories of Economics are good

It may not be applied to all the contexts throughout the globe or may not be applicable in different

To understand what a theory is, I think it would be better to have a clear concept of what it is not.
Often theorists confuse the following aspects of a research to a theory. We can say that all of the
following aid a theorist in developing a theory, but they themselves cannot rather should not be
considered theories.
Many authors have clarified the dissimilarity between a theory and what is mistaken for a theory.
Bacharach (1989) stated that data, typologies and metaphors are not theories. Whereas, Sutton and
Staw (1995) mentioned that references, variables and constructs, diagrams and figures, and hypotheses
are not theories in themselves
i. Data: is empirical evidence that reflects what has been observed by the theorist. It basically supports
a theory but itself is not a theory. That is because it does not provide any justification behind such
trends in the data or any predictions about the future. For example if data indicates that women with
higher IQ have prosperous marriages, this in itself is not a theory because it is just showing a trend,

have even sacrificed their lives to help ensure the freedom of American citizens (Barker 16). Some of
these soldiers and foreign born Americans have witnessed the cruelty of communist nations, such as

38. Analysis Of A Doll s House
A Doll s House is an iconic play focusing on the themes of respect and reputation, lies and deceit, men
and masculinity, and women and femininity. It emphasizes physical aspects of women, while
excluding influence on the men s appearance, giving insight into the time period. It shows how society
judged others while presenting information about how reputation influenced relationships and
marriage, leaving the audience pondering what would have happened to the Helmer family if Nora
had been unattractive. Both men and women were harshly judged, in different ways, and this
judgment impacted relationships and how they functioned.
From analysis of the play, the audience can gather that the people of the time period were very
materialistic. The female roles in the play are objectified, and treated like play things. The husband of
the protagonist, Torvald, tells Nora Why shouldn t I look at my dearest treasure?
at all the beauty that
is mine, all my very own? (Ibsen, 62). He is possessive of Nora, and claims that her beauty is all his
and his only, implying that he owns her. As one of the few male characters of the play, his actions and
personality reflect on the mentality of other men during the time period. Torvald s attitude towards her
is contrasted with that of Dr. Rank. Dr. Rank treats her as an equal and adores her presence, not just

entire monomyth. I have chosen to analyze the amazing journeys of the heroes Herakles, and
Odysseus. Herakles (whose name can be translated as Glory of Hera ) was a first generation
descendent of the great god Zeus; a result of the offspring produced by a ... Show more content on

It is interesting to note that Herakles receives little to no supernatural aide in this story, contrary to the
monomyth perhaps identifying as one of the great gods of the time. The journey s road of trials is very
evident in this myth as Herakles must perform ten (actually twelve due to stipulations by the king)
labors in order to achieve forgiveness and ultimately become immortal. Most heroes also experience a
metaphysical death in which they have to cross into the realm of the underworld and return with
knowledge or an item. Herakles does this for his twelfth and final labor, by traveling to the
underworld in order to capture the guardian of the underworld, Cerberus, and return him once the king
saw that he had completed the task. The final act that Herakles does that fits into the monomyth
archetype of the hero is his act of becoming immortal. Upon his death funeral pyre, when the flame is
lit he is risen up to Olympus and is granted the gift of immortality. This is significant for several
reasons; firstly it shows that Hera in fact did embrace him at the end of his journey by allowing him to
have immortality. Also his immortality

IBM s Decade of Transformation: Turnaround to
Growth
This is my last annual letter to you. By the time you read this, Sam Palmisano will be our new chief
executive officer, the eighth in IBM s history. He will be responsible for shaping our strategic
direction as well as leading our operations. . . . I want to use this occasion to offer my perspective on
what lies ahead for our industry. To many observers today, its future is unclear, following perhaps the
worst year in its history. A lot of people chalk that up to the recession and the dot com bubble. They
seem to believe that when the economies of the world recover, life in the ... Show more content on

IBM s Decade of Transformation: Turnaround to Growth
In March 2002, Gerstner passed the reins of power to Sam Palmisano, a 31 year company veteran, to
complete the transformation. Palmisano and the senior executive team were committed to returning
the company to greatness. [Our problems in the late 1980s and early 1990s] were our own fault, Nick
Donofrio, senior vice president, Technology and Manufacturing, explained. We are driven by a
passion that says: Never again. 1 IBM visionary, Irving Wladawsky Berger was reminded of the
1950s, when a series of technology asteroids had created seismic shifts in the computer industry,
opening the way for the IBM System/360 to become the dominant design for the next 40 years. The
launch of the S/360 catalyzed a period of IT enabled business innovation that created new industries
even as it transformed established industries and the organizations that competed with them. During
that period IBM was viewed as the greatest company in the world,
Palmisano explained. Palmisano, Wladawsky Berger, and the executive team at IBM believed that the
Internet and associated network technologies had catalyzed a period of technological revolution that
would usher in a new era of IT enabled business innovation that would be

41. The Importance Of Ideological Thinking In Canadian Society
Converse study finds that most people do not have a clear set of beliefs that allow them to understand
the candidates positions. Canadian society exhibits a similar pattern of political awareness. This may
be seem concerning as political knowledge can enhance participation which is central to a democracy.
However, ideological thinking may not certainly correspond to better political awareness. Electorates
also may not need high level of political knowledge to make voting decisions. Political parties in
Canada have gradually become more ideologically distinguishable, where people can position
themselves according to their values. In the election, despite the lack of political sophistication
majority Canadians can most likely vote for the party that best align with their beliefs.
In the Canadian system, the elected party and its leader make major decisions on behalf of the people.
As citizens do not often have direct power on public policies, they vote ... Show more content on

A large majority of Canadians may not have the interest, ability or opportunity to be political
knowledgeable which explains the lack of ideological thought processes. Nevertheless, people can still
have a main ideological conviction as seen people s party identify. ideological thinking does not
always equate to political awareness. Many ideological driven individuals act on motivational
reasoning, where they seek reports with their perspectives, preventing them from realizing other
information.
Converse and Fournier s study indicates that citizens have low level of political knowledge and lack
fixed ideological preferences. However, people also have a natural tendency to fall into an ideological
framework according to their existing principles. This is shown in the strong emphasis on party
ideologies in the Canadian

42. Visual Analysis Essay On Photo
Photo Analysis In this color photo my eye is immediately drawn to the blue car just below the direct
center of the photograph. The car s paint is faded everywhere except the very front of the hood making
the color a very pale blue. There are two men leaning on either side of the hood, on the far side the
man has his back to the camera and is wearing a blue shirt and a grey hat, the man on the near side is
wearing a plain white t shirt with brown pants with one of the pant legs tied in a knot because his right
leg is absent. You can see the man in whites front side, he is overweight and has brown curly hair and
appears to be holding something but I could not identify what it was in this picture. On the back side
of the car both the trunk and the driver s side rear door are wide open with two small boxes with
handles placed on the ground right below the door. The car is parked on a bridge constructed of
basketball sized rocks dirt and a large metal pipe that a small stream of dirty water is flowing through.
Upstream from the bridge there is a buildup of sticks and logs that spans the whole stream. The stream
starts on the left side ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This brings your attention directly to the car and then the lines created by the stream and the dirt road
intersect at the car that emphasizes the focal point of the car. The tones and colors in this image are
very dull even the faded blue paint on the car. It appears this picture was taken in early spring shortly
after the snow melted, that is why everything is dead. There is a bit of empty space behind the stream
that shows the distance between the stream ant the tree line behind it. The Photographer framed this
picture in a way that shows it is extended beyond the frame because both the stream and road continue

45. Flappers In The 1920s Essay
During the Roaring Twenties, women gained more rights, and this allowed them to roam out of society
s standard of a woman. This was a time where women bobbed their hair, ventured out to speakeasies
and dared to shorten their hemlines (Jamie). These types of women were known as flappers. A studies
professor, Rosanna Hertz, said that flappers were rebels, and fashion played an extensive role in
allowing them to express their freedom. Women were supposed to wear clothes that covered their legs,
even [if] flapper dresses were knee length, it was still enough to raise eyebrows (Jamie). A New York
designer named Regina Kobler was a woman of this time period who designed these new styles of
clothing. Her work is showcased in the small show at
