Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Paper
The Myers Briggs Type Indicator is psychological test done to examine how people act or feel in
various situations. It helps people to better understand and appreciate differences in others, thus
enhancing cooperation and productivity in organizations. This the most widely administered
personality test in the world. It is also a valuable tool for understanding communication style. The
MBTI has 4 preferences, they are: 1) Energy. This demonstrate where individuals gain inter personal
strength and endurance, measure by their degree of extroversion and introversion. Extroversion Are
more energized by active involvement with people. Introversion are more energized by their inner
ideas, memories, and reactions. The effectiveness of energy is to keep one s authenticity. Nothing kills
communication like the perception that you are a phony. You would have a greater effect on people
being real then to be phony. Also find ways to fulfill others needs. This will help you build
relationships with others which will eventually lead to networking. This will affect your life in a
positive way in the long run. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This related to the preparation individuals make before making decisions. Two of the mental functions
for gathering information are Sensing and Intuition. Sensing (S) perception pays attention to details
and current realities. Intuition (N) perception pays attention to meanings, patterns, and future
possibilities. The effectiveness of information gathering is that you couldn t get through the day
without using all of them to some degree. Sensing affect the way we taste food, Memorize a speech

things and Perceive underlying meaning in what people say or

Atari 2600 And Pac-Man
One of the first reasons is poorly made games; there are two games that are associated with the cause
of crash which is Pac man and E.T for Atari 2600. Pac man was one of the most recognizable video
game characters in the late 70 s and early 80 s and everyone wanted a home version of this classic
arcade character, so Atari obtain the license to make the game therefore developer Tod Frye s was

The Pros And Cons Of The Indian Removal Act
This historical document is a transcription of President Andrew Jackson s Second Annual Message to
Congress. Before his second annual message to Congress, Jackson had already signed the Indian
Removal Act into law. The Indian Removal Act allowed the President to grant lands in the west to
Indian tribes that agreed to give up their lands in the east ( Indian Treaties and the Removal Act ). In
his message, Jackson claims that Indian Removal Act is beneficial to everyone involved. Although
Jackson outlines the benefits of speeding up the process of removing Indian tribes from their
homelands, in reality, the Indian Removal Act does not benefit Indian tribes because it only leads to a
forced migration, reinforces prejudice towards the Indians, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In other words, the Indians were capable of becoming civilized and were not completely savage. Thus,
it would not be that difficult for the Indian and white populations to live in peace with each other.
Instead of relocating the Indians to less desirable places the government should have left them alone to
improve their lives. In addition, the Indian Removal Act increases the differences between the Indians
and the white settlers. Jackson believes that the removal would benefit the Indians by causing them to
cast off their savage habits and become an interesting, civilized, and Christian community ( Message
to the People ). The contradiction is that Jackson expected the removal to help the Indians become
civilized and yet, he sought to separate them from the white settlers. If the Indians were allowed to
live with the white settlers, they would have the opportunity to learn many things from their white
neighbors. Hence, the isolation of the Indians would only push them further away from civilization.
Most importantly, the Indian Removal Act negatively affects the way of life of the Indians. Near the
end of his message, Jackson asks, is it supposed that the wandering savage has a stronger attachment
to his home than the settled, civilized Christian? ( Message to the People ). Although there was a
common belief that because the Indians were

Racial Diversity And Diversity
Diversity is permanently entrenched in American culture and with a better understanding of other
cultures people can come to a place of collaboration and cooperation with one another. Looking back
on what all I have learned in this course, the most important realization I had was just how white
washed the scientific community really is. When civil rights issues were in full swing, there was a
myriad of white researchers who were attempting to prove the inferiority of other races especially
African Americans. Paper after paper delineating all of the physical differences and potential mental
differences between African Americans and Caucasians simply to bolster their own inaccurate sense of
superiority reveals the darker side of research and scientific exploration (Guthrie, 2004). Several of
the issues we discussed in class were ones I was at least somewhat aware of and had been informed
about in some sense or another. One of the surprising pieces of information was the health disparity
between Caucasians and minorities. Logically speaking this disparity makes sense since when there is
such a wide wage gap between these two groups one could assume this would have an effect on the
health of those in question as well. While I was aware of the social construction of gender, I was not
aware of all of the various types of gender and gender expression that exists in other cultures and
societies. For instance, the term two spirited in some Native American tribes refers to people

The current database provides a basic inventory system. For the new application to be a success, there
are several items that need to be addressed with the current Kudler Database. For instance, Kudler
needs additional tables such as Reserved Inventory table. This table will be a transaction table that will
reserve the items by removing them from inventory and holding them in the reserved table until one of
the following conditions is met.
In addition, the primary keys that are preserved will need to be configured as required fields, and there
are several primary keys that can be replaced with Auto Number Identities. The Inventory table will
also need to be modified to indicate what quantities are on hand at each individual store. Under the
current database, there is no visible way to show which store has inventory. For example, one store
may have 35 boxes of Frog Legs, while there may be two other stores that are out of stock.
Normalizing the database will ultimately result in minimizing data redundancy and optimizing the
data structures by containing smaller, more flexible tables. Once the tables are normalized and data
integrity has been maximized, referential integrity will be addressed by establishing relationships
between data elements and their appropriate groupings. Upgrading to SQL Server is a more viable
alternative should Kudler Fine Foods require a larger database capable of

President Machiavelli Bush Essay
President Machiavelli Bush George W. Bush, our current President, must keep a copy of Machiavelli s
most celebrated work, The Prince (1513), on his desk in the Oval Office. In my opinion, Bush and his
administration s actions mimic Machiavelli s advice to the Prince on the tactics that he should use to
stay in power. I am going to discuss how President Bush uses Machiavellian principles. My first
example is of Bush s War on Terror . In 2001, the President stated that Saddam Hussein had weapons
of mass destruction and Saddam was going to use them against the U.S. and other nations even though
he did not have concrete proof . He also said Iraq had ties to Al Quaida and this was a threat to our
security and the security ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet, it is only the appearance of religion that is helpful . George Bush claims that not only is he saved,
but is called upon by God to political office. He also uses extensive references to scripture during his
public speeches and he promises to bring freedom as a gift from the Almighty to benighted regions of
the world like the Middle East. His so called strong morality and grounding in faith was one of the
major reasons for his widespread public appeal, and according to some estimates, they are among the
most important factors in the 2004 election(Urban, #130). This good ole boy painted a virtuous image
of himself that the people loved and he has quickly fallen from grace after being in office for two
terms. His positive popularity diminished, not only in the United States, but all over the world as well.
I found the following fact interesting: a poll conducted in Britain named Bush the second biggest
threat to world peace after Bin Laden, beating North Korean president Kim Jong il (Wikipedia, #203).
I guess appearance isn t everything. The last comparison I will make is the Patriot Act and the fear that
it created in the American public. The Patriot Act was passed immediately after 9/11. It was meant to
protect American s and to obstruct acts of domestic terrorism. The act gave the government the right to
invade American s privacy by increasing the ability of law enforcement agencies have to

Social And Cultural Contributions Of Migrations And...
Social and cultural elements of opinions towards migrants and relations between locals and foreigners
are not always easy. In many countries around the world, migrants and migration are constantly being
debated. However, there have been societies like the Nomadic Turks who helped developed
civilizations. The modern world needs to learn how to resolve the issues of migration from these
nomadic cultures. Between 1000 and 1500 CE, the fast movement of human interaction led to the
rapid movements of technology and other advancements that drives our history. Multicultural
associations were established and unite the societies of Europe and Asia. The migration of the clans
and tribes of the Turkish peoples has fundamental significance as they settled in other societies and
learned new cultures. Modern globalization has inspired a rise in migration both near and far,
reinforced by many influences. These ancient places are linked our modern successes and problems
that have occurred and are occurring today as history tends to repeat itself. Most of us would agree
that civilization started in the ancient area of Mesopotamia. Nomadic Turks became noticeable in the
history of Eurasia between the eleventh and the fifteenth centuries. The Turks are ethnolinguistic
groups of Central, Eastern, Northern and Western Asia as well as parts of Europe and North Africa.
They share a variety of certain cultural traits, common ancestry and historical backgrounds to
Mongolia and East Central Asia.

It s Time To Procrastinate In High School
My entire high school career has been pushing off assignments until the very last minute. Even this
paper has been pushed off until late hours of the night. It has been a problem for a long time, but I
have been reluctant to do anything about it. In high school it is easy to procrastinate because there will
always be people to sympathise with you. Getting on a different sleep schedule is the first thing I am
attempting to become less of a procrastinator. Recently, IOS implemented a new app to the iphone to
help people get to sleep earlier: I have been using this app to my advantage. My laziness is like a

Not only is being lazy about school work not good for my grades, Ralph Waldo Emerson says it is also
keeping me for being happy and living with less stress. There are various ways I have started to
prepare for college and become less lazy. I am going to start studying some of my tougher subjects
even if I do not have a test or quiz the next day. This is a very easy task because it only takes 30
minutes out of my day, but it is a good habit to get into. A bad habit I need to get out of is taking naps
in the middle of my day whether it be after school or at five o clock on a weekend. Consequently these
naps make me feel awful and unproductive after and cause me to go to sleep later than I had intended
that night. Also forcing me to take another nap the next day in an on going cycle. Being ready for
college is going to take much more preparation than these things, but with one and a half more years

Tartarsals
At the bottom of the Missouri s streams lives the Lampsilis siliquoidea mussels where it lives out its
life cycle. How it lives it s brilliant life cycle is first by luring a smallmouth bass over to it by
copycatting the movement and the appearance of a Tartars fish tail which is actually the skin of the
mussels which has over time evolved. Once the bass notices the lure and strikes the lure the muscle
spews out a white cloud into the bass s mouth and gills which happen to be thousands of larvaes where
they will live off the bass for nutrients. Its also safer for them to transition from larvae into juvenile
mussels. After a couple of weeks the young mussels abandon the bass dropping leaving the basses
unharmed and unaware of what happened making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I never imagined they would be using a fish and other smallmouth basses to spread their younglings.
What surprised me the most about these different mussels was how much they have evolved into the
different ways they disrupted their youngs. For example the Higgins eye pearlymussel has flaps that
represent a minnows in their appearance and the mussels move this flap imitating the tail movement of
the minnow. Then the fishes will bite down on the flap making the mussels distribute their larvae into
their gills. Others will take a less freeloading approach and use their tongue like a foot moving up
riverbanks where they spread their larvae making this approach less about waiting for a host but will
not guarantee that most of the larvae will survive until youthhood. I think personally the best way for
these creatures to repopulate is to use the method that the fish snapper use which I think happens to be
the most riskiest too. As I explained before in the early paragraph the snapper will display its flesh and
snapping its mouth closed onto the head of the fish force feeding its larvae into the mouth of the fish.
Overall I thought that this was a very interesting article that brought attention to how mussels

Italian Immigration Policy Analysis
Italy
Italy s basic information which consists of its capital Rome, and the name of Italy s president is Sergio
Mattarella. Italy has a currency of euro, with its Gross domestic product being 2.149 trillion USD in
2013. In addition to these facts Italy has themes that connect together, and to its historical context.
Specifically, I will focus on 3 current events that have happened in Italy that pertain to immigration,
which stems from broader themes like Italy s political system, and nationalist nature. Through some
journal articles I was able to find information that pertains to my current events on Italy s immigration
policies, and its historical context. Therefore, these themes make up Italy s history and characteristics
as a country.

living in Italy at the end of 2010, including an estimated 400,000 irregular immigrants (Fondazione
ISMU 2012). In addition, when researching on the themes of these articles I can focusing on Italy s
immigration policy specifically in the fact that recently in the last decade, Italian immigration policies
have hardened, above all in the period 2008 2011, with the advent of a securitarian discourse.
Additionally, we learned that Italian policies have weakened social cohesion by reproducing and
reinforcing structural inequalities among immigrants. It was intriguing that, many civil society
organizations struggled against these policies. , which could show Italy s vulnerability. It is also
important to note that, Italian migration and citizenship policies tend to deny the fact that immigration
in Italy is now a structural phenomenon embedded in the labor market and Italian society , ultimately
affecting Italy s social structure. Likewise, through my research I found that one author of my research
articles, argues that this reluctance to accept the fact of immigration is exacerbated by Italy s fragile
national social cohesion, which has led to policy attempts to buttress social cohesion with respect to
immigrants relationship to Italian society. The Italian version of social cohesion is based on an implicit
model of immigrant integration and a citizenship regime defined by jus

Compare And Contrast Culture And American Culture
Culture is a very vital part of the world as we know it today. There are very many different cultures all
around the world. In the USA, we have a mix of all the different cultures and and family values. From
the original Native Americans that inhabited America to the Middle Eastern people in Afghanistan.
These people groups have brought their language, food, values, and customs with them.
There are lots of different types of families in today s American society. Mine is a little bit weird. My
parents got divorced when I was about 5 years old. My Dad re married when I was about 8 and then
got divorced again. My mom remarried when I was around 11 years old. My dad re married again
around the same time. It seems like in today s society that more and more families are becoming split
households. That is the culture difference between the USA and other countries. In the earlier years of
the United States, many people looked down on divorce. Divorce was like a curse word to them back
then.

Benefits Of Implementing Business Intelligence Systems
Benefits of Implementing Business Intelligence Systems There are a variety of benefits when it comes
to implementing a business intelligence system. Because the nature of business intelligence is to
gather data about customers and analyze the information possessed, it leads to the idea that business
intelligence systems can help create better customer relationships. This is due to the fact that the
company has a better understanding of what their customers desire and therefore, are able to serve
them better. When customers are happy and their needs are fulfilled, the company is able to create
customer loyalty, in which customers feel confident in returning to a company with their business
because they know they can expect a pleasant transaction. With customer loyalty and better customer
relationships also comes an improvement in sales. Customers frequently return to conduct business, as
well as alert others of the company via word of mouth. This can generate more revenue for the
company. However, there is another way that business intelligence systems can lead to an
improvement of sales. Business intelligence can help companies determine how to promote and
advertise their products to potential customers. For example, in the grocery industry, companies can
promote certain products by sending out coupons to their customers that are likely to purchase that
item. When the customer receives the coupon, they are more likely to purchase the item, whether or
not they had

Failure To Meet Zoning Laws
City governments are tasked with writing and enforcing zoning laws that define all aspects of private
use of property within the city s district. In order for businesses and other groups to build and use
plots, or zones, of land that they own within the city s district, they must get approval from various
city government officials. Failure to meet zoning requirements for the specific use proposed, as
interpreted by certain officials, results in denial of the entity from using their land for that purpose. On
March 22nd, I attended a meeting of the Salt Lake City Planning Commission (PC). The meeting
concerned approving group s proposed usage of property they own. Specifically, I will write about the

The meeting resolved the issue of theRuby s proposal to build townhouses, but the status of the OSA s
expansion is still uncertain. They cleared the first hurdle by having the PC conditionally approve it,
but they still need to appeal to the city council to change zoning laws. I learned how zoning laws
impact every aspect of use of private property. This includes the proposed usage of each building and
the impact all structures have on the flow of foot and car traffic. I also learned all about the good OSA
are doing in trying to solve the problems of re incarceration, homelessness, and drug addiction. I do
not feel the meeting should be conducted in a significantly different way. Having STAFF present the
proposal from a neutral perspective sets the facts down, so that the representatives of the program can

American Beauty Term Paper
Term Paper: American Beauty
What are the costs of living in a success driven, consumer oriented, image obsessed society? This
challenge to contemporary America s suburban culture finds a voice in Sam Mendes 1999 movie
American Beauty. The film s complex subtlety underscores its implication that subtlety itself is a
casualty in our society. American Beauty s tagline exhorts viewers to look closer, but the film
expresses ambivalence concerning what is revealed by closer inspection. On one hand, protagonist
Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey) and his young neighbor Ricky Fitts (Wes Bentley) speak of the
unappreciated beauty surrounding us; however, Lester also begins to question the values of a world

Mendes and cinematographer Conrad Hall substitute film of a lower resolution to add realism to shots
supposedly filmed with Ricky s video camera. Black and white footage in the closing montage
sequence differentiates Lester s memories of his life and family from the story time of the flashback
that makes up the rest of the movie. However, the most important feature of American Beauty s
camerawork is the use of the technique to reinforce the message of the movie s tagline, which tells
viewers to look closer. Though zoom out shots occasionally appear most notably in the closing
helicopter shot they are far outnumbered by zooms that bring the audience closer to the subject. This
preponderance not only contributes to the film s theme but also emphasizes zoom outs, particularly in
the final shot of the film. Ricky makes abundant use of the zoom feature on his camera, and because
his subject is often Jane, close ups on her are common. One particularly interesting example appears
in the scene of Angela spending the night with Jane in the movie s first section. The girls notice that
Ricky has spelled out Jane in the yard in burning letters. Surmising that Ricky is filming them, Jane
retreats flustered while Angela, ever the exhibitionist, dances at the window. Rather than focusing on
Angela, the crass, unsubtle beauty, Ricky zooms past her to settle on Jane s face reflected in a mirror.

Klara Alternate Ending
Having explored most of Berk already, Klara forced herself to venture past the safety and travel into

wrote, A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the proper,
natural and safe defense of a free state. If the government had the jurisdiction over citizen s right to
use firearms, then it could disarm them as the British had once done. This led to the creation of the
Second Amendment of the US Constitution, which reads, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to
the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. Fast
forward to present day; our nation is currently in the core of a large controversy over gun control laws
and the meaning of the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment is one of the first ten
amendments to the US Constitution that make up the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights was adopted in
1791 and has since been known as one of the nation s most valued documents. The Bill of Rights is of
great significance to our country because it protects our individual liberties

The role of communication in team building and in the creation of positive group dynamics in a

BRC: ACADEMIC PAPER
Abstract:
Communication is widely recognised in the literature as being important to modern management. In
the case of the BRC project, communication was often an issue, and was relatively poor for the author
s project team. This paper analyses the role of communication in team building and group dynamics,
in order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Privman et al (2013, p. 33) refers to these dynamics as us versus them , and demonstrates that they can
act to reduce performance, creating conflicting goals and responsibilities. This could have been a
problem for the project, as two members of the team already knew each other, and hence tended to
support each other s opinions and positions creating something of a split in the team. The existence of
such conflicts increases the importance of communication, and particularly the value of emotional
intelligence in said conversation. Specifically, team members can only overcome such informal
network based conflicts through communication based on putting aside the differences between
groups and encouraging more effective communication behaviour designed to form an overall group
(Sigmar et al, 2012, p. 301). The existence of higher levels of emotional intelligence and their
application to the case of the BRC project would have been very useful in overcoming the issues
encountered, and ensuring high levels of overall performance.
Another important factor which is linked to the development of emotional intelligence is the
development of specific team working and team based communication skills. These are vital for
effective team performance, as all teams need individuals who will act to drive communication
amongst team

Maintaining Order In E. M. Forster s The Machine Stops
The future of any society is governed by the people within it, and although the Machine in E.M.
Forster s The Machine Stops has the illusion of maintaining order in a dystopic society, it is really the
people s fear and misbeliefs that control them. The lack of connection and communication in the
society is what has led to the people to become overdependant on the Machine, to forget that behind
this supposed omnipotent power, it was humanity that created and supported it. In Forster s society,
one which was broiling with the onset of global war, this was a key development, as political
ideologies such as fascism and nationalism were rising in power. This story serves as a forewarning to
the citizens who live in such societies and the threat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although modern society is dealing with issues such as race and gender, it has become much more
accepting of a culture than Forster s society of the early 1900s. Now the international community has
become much more supportive of each others initiatives and has become an interconnected world. The
imagined world of The Machine Stops has become unlikely to ever exist because humanity now has
recognized the strengths of working as groups rather than individuals, a modern trend that has only
recently emerged. Had people lacked a much needed response to the horrors of the world during the
World Wars, modern society may very well have slid further into the mistrust and closed off world
(clearly seen in the story as society had moved underground and everybody lived in hexagonal rooms)
and become the dystopic society of the Machine. The short story was a very enjoyable piece, although
as science fiction it lacks some necessary descriptions of devices, resorting to only simplistic tools that

The Pros And Cons Of Solar Energy
Even though only a small amount of the sun s heat ever reaches Earth, it is enough to power the whole
world. Solar energy is always being provided to us by the Sun. Solar energy can be converted into
electricity and heat. It helps provide the warmth necessary for people, plants, and animals to survive.
With the help of today s technology, scientists have found a way to use the sun to help us in our
everyday lives. The idea of solar energy has, resulted in the use of solar power. Thus, it could lead to a
more modernized and efficient society. Solar energy is a renewable resource and is converted to
electrical energy in two ways: by using photovoltaic materials or the thermal process. The
photovoltaic method, generates electric power by using the solar energy to convert energy from the
sun into a flow of electrons. (Sethia, et al., 2017). The thermal method is a process that uses the energy
from the sun to heat a working fluid in an electric generating cycle. Solar energy is one of the most
important sources of energy we could have because it is a non polluting energy. This, in turn, helps in
lessening the greenhouse effect. The most popular way to use solar energy is through the use of solar
panels. To generate the high temperatures necessary to make steam to generate electricity, the sunlight
must be concentrated. Solar thermal technology often uses reflectors in the form of parabolic
concentrators or flat mirrors to focus the sun s rays onto a water filled pipe.
While at work, I was also able to interview a customer who used to be in the solar panel business. His
name is Henry Caldwell, and he used to work for Turnbull Contracting, LLC, in Bowling Green,
Missouri. During the interview, I was able to learn about the different systems they offer, and some
types of solar panels available. The two systems available from Turnbull Contracting are the string
inverter and the micro inverter. First, the string inverter is the most basic out of the two. The string
system would be ideal for homes and businesses that have direct sunlight and openings. The panels in
this system are all chained together so that when one panels gets shade, it also impact the other panels.
However, the micro inverter is more up to date

Permanent Impact of the Counter-Culture on Today s...
What is not illusionary is the reality of a new culture of opposition. It grows out of the disintegration
of the old forms, vinyl and aerosol institutions that carry all the inane and destructive values of
privatism; competition, commercialism, profitability and elitism It s not a youth thing by now but a
generational event; chronological age is the only current phase . The previous quote was written by
Andrew Kopkind in Rolling Stone on the Woodstock festival observing that a new culture was

Another way that changed or become popular with the exposure of a counter culture in the sixties and
had shaped the American society was the growth of the rock music, increase of drug, alcohol abuse

were signs to get noticed about how they wished to get away from the American culture. One of their
slogans was, Get every creature so stoned they can t stand the plastic shit of American culture (1960 s

consciousness, to rebel against the establishment and to enhance their own sense of being different
(200). They were mainly dissenters who liked experimenting. New drugs came out continuously but
the most popular ones were LSD, marijuana, certain hallucinogens, heroin and alcohol. Surveys from
the sixties show that in early sixties only 4 percent of people from ages 18 to 25 had tried marijuana
and twelve years after, it was 50 percent in the nation as a whole and 60 percent for college students
and even higher in some universities. (201). 1960 s became a drug culture during that era. The rise in
drugs and alcohol usage during the sixties is a cause of the considerable drug and alcohol abuse in the

The Eiffel Tower And The Tower
The Eiffel Tower As you know, the Eiffel Tower is one of the most prominent aspects and statues in
France. This tall piece of beauty was built on March 31, 1889. It s made of more than 18,000 iron
pieces. The man who designed it was Alexandre Gustave Eiffel and when it was first built his daughter
climbed it and discovered there are 1,710 steps. Alexandre led the team that developed the plans and
also designed the metal framework of another landmark the statue of liberty. Paris, France, where the
tower is located and it brings a lot of tourists, thus causing a lot of foot traffic. When many people go
to France, their main objective is to see the Eiffel Tower, as well as get a photo standing by it. The
tower is 1063 foot tall cast iron skeleton equipped with elevators that has spectacular aerial views of
Paris. At the present time, The Eiffel Tower was built for the International Exhibition of Paris of 1889
commemorating the centenary of the French Revolution. (Corrosion Doctors, Eiffel Tower History). In

For starters, Mandelbaum is very long winded his chapters go on forever. There are certain ideas that
he can convey in 5 pages but instead, he chooses to do so in 15 pages. His writing style is so plain that
it makes following the chapters that much harder. The information that Mandelbaum presents about in
relation to the sports of baseball, football and basketball are good I just wish his chapters were shorter.
Information can get lost quickly if there are 80 pages of information to read about one sport. Aside
from that, I learned a lot from his chapter about basketball. In chronological order, Mandelbaum
writes how the game of basketball shifted from a sport that was primarily white to primarily African
American. The first African American player to enter the NBA was in 1950. By the 1980s four out of
every five starting players in the league were black. Mandelbaum makes the argument that African
Americans were needed in the league or else the game would not have been as developed as it is now.
The game as it developed would have been far poorer in every way without them (Mandelbaum,248).
The same time that the professional game was developing so too was the street game. In chapter 4 I
learned about the winner take all market. According to investopedia.com, this is a concept in which
the best performers are able to capture a very large share of the rewards, and the remaining
competitors are left with very little. The chances of most African American making it to the NBA is
very slim, according to the book chances are 135,800 to

When trying to make connections between democracy and capitalism, and how they play a role in our
everyday society, looking closely at the emergence of a powerful company can be very informative.
Throughout the documentary Henry Ford American Experience, we are introduced to the humble
beginnings of the one well known company in today s society, the Ford Motor Company. With the in
depth account of the creator himself, Henry Ford and the focus on the labor practices used in his
company, one can understand how the establishment came to be. It is said that the modern automobile

the building up of the city. The Model T also added great success to the Ford Motor Company. Not
only did Ford contribute his automobile, but he introduced ideas like the assembly line and through
the popularity of the automobile built up industries like oil and rubber(American). Henry Ford was a
man who contributed a lot to the people of his time, but not everyone felt the same way about him.
Henry Ford was a man who came from a farming family in Michigan. He felt that the best people
were the simple, plain, hard working people (American). In all of his actions, we see him as a man
who takes care of those like himself. However, the worst people were those who he felt were in

the everyday people fueled his desire to help them live a better life, this can be seen in both positive
and negative ways. For one Ford created the Model T to be affordable, at only $850 and of quality
material, many ordinary people wanted and could afford to buy his cars. He also shorten the workday,
from 9 to 8 hours, and gave workers better pay, a $5.00 wage increase(American). On the other hand,
we see that he felt he knew what was best for people. To make sure workers were living proper

My Basketball Career At Valparaiso University
The sound of the loud buzzer ended, and the cheers of the winning team began as I walked to our
bench. While lining up to shake the hands of our opponents, I felt the heart ache that we were
experiencing from the loss of the hard fought battle. Looking up into the stands seeing our fans with
the same disappointed faces as the rest of the team had, I soon knew this was an experience that would
not be forgotten anytime soon. My basketball career at Sauers ended with an invitation to the National
Lutheran Basketball tournament made up of 32 boys and 32 girls teams from all over the US. Our
journey began Thursday morning with a send off from our school with a tunnel made of students. As
we crammed into the van that cool morning, I could feel the excitement growing within in the team for
the weekend to come. After arriving at Valparaiso University, we had to check in as a team. Walking
into the main gym, I realized this time it seemed much larger, although I have seen the gym before
from a previous teams playing in the tournament. The main gym smelled of freshly made popcorn,
with a glow reflecting off the court, and the sound of multiple conversations happening at once that
seemed to make your head spin from all the chaos. Looking at each gym we could possibly play in, I
could picture the loud crowds packed into the bleachers that should only hold half the people that were
in them. The opening ceremony followed checkin. While walking through the campus to the chapel, I

Effects Of The Prevalence Of Calcium On An Aging Population
Introduction:
Osteoporosis is a disease where bone tissue deteriorates resulting in reduced bone mineral density
(BMD). This can lead to bone fragility and an increased risk of fractures (1). This disease is a growing
concern in today s society, particularly in women over 50 years of age (2). It is predicted that the
number of cases of osteoporosis will continue to increase due to an aging population (3). Nutritional
intake is a major contributor to the disease. In particular, a lack of dietary calcium, a nutrient critical to
bone development, is a major factor in the development of osteoporosis (4). Those who practice
veganism, a dietary practice that omits dairy (i.e. a significant source of calcium), are at high risk of
developing this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this research design, the focus will be on female adolescent vegans. The main focal point will be
on the consumption of dairy products and the resulting adequacy of calcium in the diet. The possible
decrease of calcium associated with veganism may impact calcium intake and thus have an impact on
an individual s future bone health.
Method:
The proposed study will use dietary and anthropometric assessment methods to evaluate the
prevalence of calcium in an adolescent female vegan s diet. The purpose will be to determine if the
amount of calcium consumed has an impact on bone mineral density (BMD).
Participants: This study will recruit 100 females, ages 14 to 18, with approximately 20 individuals of
each age. The age range of the sample population was determined based on the Dietary Reference
Intake (DRI) cutoff ages. The minimum age requirement (14 years old) relates to the average age
females reach menarche. Menarche plays a role in bone growth and development. After menarche
occurs, bone growth often increases (7). All participants must have practiced veganism for at least one
year prior in order to take part in the study. This will ensure that participants are committed to
following a vegan diet. Knurick, Johnston, Wherry and Aguayo (2015) adopted a one year
requirement, when they studied the impact of lacto ovo, vegan, and omnivore diets on bone health. All
participants must have a body mass index (BMI) that falls within

Near-Death Experience Theory
Death is something every human is afraid of. We know it will happen sooner or later; it is inevitable.
Death takes away loved ones, it takes away people that are so important to us. So many people have
gone through near death experiences, which is why those people look at life like it is so precious.
Spiritual and physiological hypotheses are about near death experiences. While there are some
differences between a spiritual hypothesis and a physiological hypothesis, the similarities are evident.
According to Oxford Dictionary, a near death experience is an unusual experience taking place on the
brink of death and recounted by a person after recovery, typically and out of body experience or a

Burroughs Not Marinetti s Futurist Essay
The potentials of the new technology created in the early twentieth century created a variety of
reactions with in society. Some people embraced the changes, others resisted the developments, and
still others fell somewhere in between. Filippo Tommaso Marinetti s piece, The Futurist Manifesto ,
embraces the rapid transformation of society. His world is composed of fast, powerful machines and
strong, young citizens. The Manifesto also depicts an aggressive, violent, and unjust world that is
devoid of any morals. Edgar Rice Burroughs is another author whose work, A Princess of Mars,
addresses the future and its possibilities. It is the story of John Carter, an American Civil War Veteran,

He says, When we are forty let younger and stronger men than we throw us in the waste paper basket
like useless manuscripts (4). Just as significant as Carter s significant prowess is his courageous,
fearless, and violent demeanor. All of these traits are highly valued in Marinetti s Futurist Manifesto.
Nonetheless, this initial glance of Burroughs work is highly deceptive. Though John Carter is violent,
he only fights in self defense or in the defense of his dependents like his Martian watchdog, Woola,
and his love interest, Dejah Thoris. He exhibits a sense of morals and justice that Marinetti clearly
rejects in his manifesto. Burroughs stress on the value of morality is further solidified by the
comparison between the Tharks, the green Martians, and the red Martians of Helium. The green
Martians are warlike, uncultured, and unjust, which contributes to their backwardness. On the other
hand, the red Martians are highly civilized because they show fairness, lawfulness, and love.
(transition) Marinetti even states in the Manifesto of Futurism that, Beauty exists only in the struggle.
There is no masterpiece that has not an aggressive character. This suits Marinetti s own piece because
of the raw, violent, and sexual imagery used to describe the machinery in the future. For example, the
reader is confronted with rogue locomotives and hungry, roaring automobiles . Furthermore, Marinetti
says that the Futurists want to glorify war because it is the

came about after the Revolution of 1848 which overturned the monarchy of Louis Philippe and

Reflection On Professional Development
In this short essay my own personal view on professional development will be made evident through
reviewing past experiences, allowing recommendations for better practice to occur. Other topics
discussed and analysed will be; the structure of the organisation, the effectiveness on leadership and
management. My own role within the organisational structure will be reflected on, considering the
impact of skills in practice, further, justifying what I will need for future personal and professional
development.
Reflective practice is an important tool, as people learn from their own professional experiences
(Pascal and Brown, 2009). Reflection provides opportunity for furthering personal and professional
development (Nganga, 2011). As it helps to certify knowledge skills and experience that is used within
practice (Freire, 1972).
Boud, Keogh and Walker (1985) states that, looking through past and present experiences helps with
progression in the future. The reflection on practice is finding the weaknesses and overcoming them
(Dyer and Taylor, 2012).
Johns (2000) situates that a number of models can help to structure a reflection. As they provide a
framework that helps develop a deeper understanding and analysis. One reflective model is Schön
(2002) the model of reflection in action and reflection on action. This model is beneficial to use as it
involves working on getting to the bottom of what is happening in the experience process, such as; the
decisions made and the feelings felt at that time of the event. Reflection on action involves looking
over the event and drawing on professional knowledge to understand what happened and why it
happened and to develop deeper knowledge (Thompson and Pascal, 2012). However, this is not the
only model that could be used. Other models such as Kolb (1984), Gibbs (1988) and Brookfield
(1995) have different frameworks to help breakdown an issue.
I like to use Schön (2002) model in the workplace as I am thinking about what I am doing as I am
doing it. This does not provide a lot of time to think in depth and to break the event down, leading to
not gaining a better understanding of what happened, without this I have no targets to better my
professional development.

own operations. QUESTION 2: Why did Coca Cola change its initial strategy? What strategy did
Coca Cola start to pursue in 2000? What were the benefits of this strategy to Coca Cola? What were
the drawbacks? ANSWER 2: In the 1980s, Coca Cola changed its strategy from a localization
approach where individual country units essentially ran their own operations, to a more centralized
approach where key management and marketing activities took place at the company headquarters in
Atlanta. The company extended this strategy to include foreign bottlers. By taking equity stakes in the
bottlers, Coca Cola was able to exert greater control over them. Coca Cola made the shift to the global
standardization strategy because it believed that by doing so, the company could gain significant
economies of scale. However, by 2000, the company was ready to change its strategy once again.
Coca Cola was losing market share to companies that used a more localized strategy, and under the
guidance of its new CEO, Coca Cola began once again to give local managers more decision making

maps of the area were available for the arriving commanders and team Desobry arrived at Noville 18

Divergence is the upshot of gender variation, not its origin . The sociological characteristic of his

The Confession And On The Trinity
Along with his writings in The Confessions and On the Trinity, Augustine of hippo used the section
titles the literal Meaning of Genesis in order to show Gods love through three visions of God.
According to Dupré and Weisman, we experience three kinds of vision: one through the eyes, a second
through the soul, and a third through the intuition of the mind (Dupré and Weisman pg. 71). Most
humans in society are expected to understand the first of all the visions. To see through the eyes as
spiritual vision is expected for most humans. However, to see things in a corporeal way through the
body is more difficult. We use sight as a physical sensory and flesh of God is outside of the body s
vision. The third type of vision is intellectual, in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This Sunday the reoccurring message was Growth through Adversity . I treated the mediation as an
after church devotion to help clear my mind and get my ready for the school week. My goal for the
day through mediation was to digest the message from church and clear my mind from the last eek.
Ultimately, I was able to mediate and focus on the clearing of my mind and optimism for the next
week of school ahead of me. (Journal Feb 5th). Like Augustine said, how we think, how we
remember, and how we love will show of true connection with Union with God. So, we must digest
the information we receive through sermons and scriptures and use it to analyze God and grow a
deeper connection with him. In his writings, Augustine makes it clear that direct contact with God will
naturally heal people. Therefore, I believe through the use of a sacred word or phrase, one is able to
create this deeper connection with God. Augustine encourages the idea of humans being made in the
trinity so serenity is only possible if one connects with God and transforms their suffering into
blessings. Such a depiction of the soul being intellectual creates a naturally union with God. Through
Centering of Prayer, the methods of creating a serene space are much easier than changing ones soul.
The person has to rid the mind of distraction and focus in the soul on thoughts that will completely
focus the person. Personally, as a religious person, I chose to adopt a sacred word or phrase

Life Is Like The Stanzas Of A Poem
Life is a Poem
Life is like the stanzas of a poem. Anne Sexton is unlike any other poets, her life, not only influences
her poems, but her poems are part of her life. Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty), Baby picture, and Music
Swims Back To Me are three examples in which sexton describes her life as poems. The troubled
childhood and the depressed adulthood of Anne Sexton lead to the depressed and dark nature of her
writing.
Trauma from the abused childhood brought about the depressed nature of her poems. In Briar Rose
(Sleeping Beauty), Anne sexton describes the troubled nature of her childhood.
I was forced backward.
I was forced forward.
Each night I am nailed into place. (st.7,line 5 7.9)
That feeling of being forced and helpless. Being drained of life by the one who was supposed to keep
her safe cannot be forgotten, if we try to ignore the feeling it will just eat you inside. Sexton unlike
others did not try to forget it but embraced it into her poems as a way of treating her depression. She
said it aloud to the world in the form of her poems. This depression took the form of words and is an
important element of sexton s work. Like in the first stanza when Sexton was hypnotized and taken
when she was 2, and then to the seemingly loving sound of her father:
Little doll child, come here to Papa.
Sit on my knee.
I have kisses for the back of your neck. (st.1, line 15 19)
But the meaning becomes very clear as the poem progresses.
Although, Sexton s poetry is mainly sad and

A leader is most effective when this communication has respect, and trust. There is one criticism of
this theory based on fairness. Because of the dynamics of in and out groups, all group members won t
receive the same attention from the leader.
One of those ways is situational leadership, a theory first proposed by Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard
in the Training and Development Journal in 1969. They viewed traditional leadership as one side no
longer fits every situation. Situational leadership his was designed to address the dilemma of matching
managers to proper job based on maturity and leadership skills. Blanchard and Hersey theorized that
various situations called for different types of leadership. In order to be successful, a leader has to be
able to adapt to those different situations (Northouse, p.99). Situational leadership has four leadership
styles that help influence the subordinates. A leaders decisions are based on the ability and motivation
of his or her subordinates, ranging from highly motivated and hi skill to low motivation and low skill.
The graph below demonstrates this.
None of the styles is considered to be optimal. In order for leaders to be effective, they must be able to
adapt and be flexible depending on each situation that arrises.
Situational leadership has several strengths and weaknesses.

Coffee: Decaf or Caffeinated?
Drinking a cup of coffee has become an essential part of our morning routine. A study by
statisticbrain.com showed that 54% of Americans over the age of 18 drank an average cup size being 9
ounces coffee every day. Coffee consumption has been dated to 10th century Ethiopia, and since then
it has evolved alongside the technology of each era. With the introduction of the espresso machine
during the French Revolution, more people started to create and mix their coffee into different drinks,
ranging from cappuccinos to cocktails. As we know, coffee naturally produces caffeine. During the
early 1900 s people wanted to enjoy their coffee flavored drinks but didn t want the caffeine addiction
that came with it. For this reason and motivated by the belief that caffeine had poisoned his father,
Ludwig Roselius invented the first commercially successful decaffeination process in 1903. He
patented the process by 1906; it was later discovered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It takes 3 to 4 years for a newly planted coffee tree to start producing its fruit. Once the berries are
collected the race begins. This process has to begin as soon as possible in order to prevent the berries
from spoiling and damaging the final taste of the coffee. There are two methods used to process the
coffee berries into coffee beans. The dry method or old method is used in many countries where water
resources are limited. This process reduces the moisture content of the cherries to below 15%. The
second method is the wet method, by using this process the beans have to be sun dried until the
moisture content is below 11%. After the moisture is reduced, we obtain a green bean that after
roasting and grinding, becomes what we find in the shelves of our supermarkets as coffee

  • 2. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Paper The Myers Briggs Type Indicator is psychological test done to examine how people act or feel in various situations. It helps people to better understand and appreciate differences in others, thus enhancing cooperation and productivity in organizations. This the most widely administered personality test in the world. It is also a valuable tool for understanding communication style. The MBTI has 4 preferences, they are: 1) Energy. This demonstrate where individuals gain inter personal strength and endurance, measure by their degree of extroversion and introversion. Extroversion Are more energized by active involvement with people. Introversion are more energized by their inner ideas, memories, and reactions. The effectiveness of energy is to keep one s authenticity. Nothing kills communication like the perception that you are a phony. You would have a greater effect on people being real then to be phony. • 4. The Pros And Cons Of The Indian Removal Act This historical document is a transcription of President Andrew Jackson s Second Annual Message to Congress. Before his second annual message to Congress, Jackson had already signed the Indian Removal Act into law. The Indian Removal Act allowed the President to grant lands in the west to Indian tribes that agreed to give up their lands in the east ( Indian Treaties and the Removal Act ). In his message, Jackson claims that Indian Removal Act is beneficial to everyone involved. Although Jackson outlines the benefits of speeding up the process of removing Indian tribes from their homelands, in reality, the Indian Removal Act does not benefit Indian tribes because it only leads to a forced migration, reinforces prejudice towards the Indians, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, the Indians were capable of becoming civilized and were not completely savage. Thus, it would not be that difficult for the Indian and white populations to live in peace with each other. Instead of relocating the Indians to less desirable places the government should have left them alone to improve their lives. In addition, the Indian Removal Act increases the differences between the Indians and the white settlers. Jackson believes that the removal would benefit the Indians by causing them to cast off their savage habits and become an interesting, civilized, and Christian community ( Message to the People ). The contradiction is that Jackson expected the removal to help the Indians become civilized and yet, he sought to separate them from the white settlers. If the Indians were allowed to live with the white settlers, they would have the opportunity to learn many things from their white neighbors. Hence, the isolation of the Indians would only push them further away from civilization. Most importantly, the Indian Removal Act negatively affects the way of life of the Indians. Near the end of his message, Jackson asks, is it supposed that the wandering savage has a stronger attachment to his home than the settled, civilized Christian? ( Message to the People ). • 5. Racial Diversity And Diversity Diversity is permanently entrenched in American culture and with a better understanding of other cultures people can come to a place of collaboration and cooperation with one another. Looking back on what all I have learned in this course, the most important realization I had was just how white washed the scientific community really is. When civil rights issues were in full swing, there was a myriad of white researchers who were attempting to prove the inferiority of other races especially African Americans. Paper after paper delineating all of the physical differences and potential mental differences between African Americans and Caucasians simply to bolster their own inaccurate sense of superiority reveals the darker side of research and scientific exploration (Guthrie, 2004). Several of the issues we discussed in class were ones I was at least somewhat aware of and had been informed about in some sense or another. One of the surprising pieces of information was the health disparity between Caucasians and minorities. Logically speaking this disparity makes sense since when there is such a wide wage gap between these two groups one could assume this would have an effect on the health of those in question as well. While I was aware of the social construction of gender, I was not aware of all of the various types of gender and gender expression that exists in other cultures and societies. For instance, the term two spirited in some Native American tribes refers to people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, the primary keys that are preserved will need to be configured as required fields, and there are several primary keys that can be replaced with Auto Number Identities. The Inventory table will also need to be modified to indicate what quantities are on hand at each individual store. Under the current database, there is no visible way to show which store has inventory. For example, one store may have 35 boxes of Frog Legs, while there may be two other stores that are out of stock. Normalizing the database will ultimately result in minimizing data redundancy and optimizing the data structures by containing smaller, more flexible tables. • 7. President Machiavelli Bush Essay President Machiavelli Bush George W. Bush, our current President, must keep a copy of Machiavelli s most celebrated work, The Prince (1513), on his desk in the Oval Office. In my opinion, Bush and his administration s actions mimic Machiavelli s advice to the Prince on the tactics that he should use to stay in power. I am going to discuss how President Bush uses Machiavellian principles. My first example is of Bush s War on Terror . In 2001, the President stated that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and Saddam was going to use them against the U.S. and other nations even though he did not have concrete proof . He also said Iraq had ties to Al Quaida and this was a threat to our security and the security ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet, it is only the appearance of religion that is helpful . George Bush claims that not only is he saved, but is called upon by God to political office. He also uses extensive references to scripture during his public speeches and he promises to bring freedom as a gift from the Almighty to benighted regions of the world like the Middle East. His so called strong morality and grounding in faith was one of the major reasons for his widespread public appeal, and according to some estimates, they are among the most important factors in the 2004 election(Urban, #130). This good ole boy painted a virtuous image of himself that the people loved and he has quickly fallen from grace after being in office for two terms. His positive popularity diminished, not only in the United States, but all over the world as well. I found the following fact interesting: a poll conducted in Britain named Bush the second biggest threat to world peace after Bin Laden, beating North Korean president Kim Jong il (Wikipedia, #203). I guess appearance isn t everything. The last comparison I will make is the Patriot Act and the fear that it created in the American public. The Patriot Act was passed immediately after 9/11. • 8. Social And Cultural Contributions Of Migrations And... Social and cultural elements of opinions towards migrants and relations between locals and foreigners are not always easy. In many countries around the world, migrants and migration are constantly being debated. However, there have been societies like the Nomadic Turks who helped developed civilizations. The modern world needs to learn how to resolve the issues of migration from these nomadic cultures. Between 1000 and 1500 CE, the fast movement of human interaction led to the rapid movements of technology and other advancements that drives our history. Multicultural associations were established and unite the societies of Europe and Asia. The migration of the clans and tribes of the Turkish peoples has fundamental significance as they settled in other societies and learned new cultures. Modern globalization has inspired a rise in migration both near and far, reinforced by many influences. These ancient places are linked our modern successes and problems that have occurred and are occurring today as history tends to repeat itself. Most of us would agree that civilization started in the ancient area of Mesopotamia. Nomadic Turks became noticeable in the history of Eurasia between the eleventh and the fifteenth centuries. The Turks are ethnolinguistic groups of Central, Eastern, Northern and Western Asia as well as parts of Europe and North Africa. They share a variety of certain cultural traits, common ancestry and historical backgrounds to Mongolia and East Central Asia. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In high school it is easy to procrastinate because there will always be people to sympathise with you. Recently, IOS implemented a new app to the iphone to help people get to sleep earlier: I have been using this app to my advantage. How it lives it s brilliant life cycle is first by luring a smallmouth bass over to it by copycatting the movement and the appearance of a Tartars fish tail which is actually the skin of the mussels which has over time evolved. Once the bass notices the lure and strikes the lure the muscle spews out a white cloud into the bass s mouth and gills which happen to be thousands of larvaes where they will live off the bass for nutrients. I never imagined they would be using a fish and other smallmouth basses to spread their younglings. What surprised me the most about these different mussels was how much they have evolved into the different ways they disrupted their youngs. Then the fishes will bite down on the flap making the mussels distribute their larvae into their gills. Others will take a less freeloading approach and use their tongue like a foot moving up riverbanks where they spread their larvae making this approach less about waiting for a host but will not guarantee that most of the larvae will survive until youthhood. I think personally the best way for these creatures to repopulate is to use the method that the fish snapper use which I think happens to be the most riskiest too. In addition, when researching on the themes of these articles I can focusing on Italy s immigration policy specifically in the fact that recently in the last decade, Italian immigration policies have hardened, above all in the period 2008 2011, with the advent of a securitarian discourse. Additionally, we learned that Italian policies have weakened social cohesion by reproducing and reinforcing structural inequalities among immigrants. It was intriguing that, many civil society organizations struggled against these policies. , which could show Italy s vulnerability. It is also important to note that, Italian migration and citizenship policies tend to deny the fact that immigration in Italy is now a structural phenomenon embedded in the labor market and Italian society , ultimately affecting Italy s social structure. Likewise, through my research I found that one author of my research articles, argues that this reluctance to accept the fact of immigration is exacerbated by Italy s fragile national social cohesion, which has led to policy attempts to buttress social cohesion with respect to immigrants relationship to Italian society. The Italian version of social cohesion is based on an implicit model of immigrant integration and a citizenship regime defined by jus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Benefits Of Implementing Business Intelligence Systems Benefits of Implementing Business Intelligence Systems There are a variety of benefits when it comes to implementing a business intelligence system. Because the nature of business intelligence is to gather data about customers and analyze the information possessed, it leads to the idea that business intelligence systems can help create better customer relationships. This is due to the fact that the company has a better understanding of what their customers desire and therefore, are able to serve them better. When customers are happy and their needs are fulfilled, the company is able to create customer loyalty, in which customers feel confident in returning to a company with their business because they know they can expect a pleasant transaction. With customer loyalty and better customer relationships also comes an improvement in sales. Customers frequently return to conduct business, as well as alert others of the company via word of mouth. This can generate more revenue for the company. However, there is another way that business intelligence systems can lead to an improvement of sales. Business intelligence can help companies determine how to promote and advertise their products to potential customers. For example, in the grocery industry, companies can promote certain products by sending out coupons to their customers that are likely to purchase that item. When the customer receives the coupon, they are more likely to purchase the item, whether or not they had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This challenge to contemporary America s suburban culture finds a voice in Sam Mendes 1999 movie American Beauty. The film s complex subtlety underscores its implication that subtlety itself is a casualty in our society. American Beauty s tagline exhorts viewers to look closer, but the film expresses ambivalence concerning what is revealed by closer inspection. However, the most important feature of American Beauty s camerawork is the use of the technique to reinforce the message of the movie s tagline, which tells viewers to look closer. Though zoom out shots occasionally appear most notably in the closing helicopter shot they are far outnumbered by zooms that bring the audience closer to the subject. This preponderance not only contributes to the film s theme but also emphasizes zoom outs, particularly in the final shot of the film. Ricky makes abundant use of the zoom feature on his camera, and because his subject is often Jane, close ups on her are common. One particularly interesting example appears in the scene of Angela spending the night with Jane in the movie s first section. The girls notice that Ricky has spelled out Jane in the yard in burning letters. Surmising that Ricky is filming them, Jane retreats flustered while Angela, ever the exhibitionist, dances at the window. It was the Gryffindor Pride Month after all, and she figured she should embrace her inner braveness, however deeply it was hidden. Somewhat hesitantly, she mounted Bellona. The little dragon was just big enough that Klara could ride on top of her without falling over; she soothingly stroked her dragon s ginger fur, tightening her legs around the dragon s frame. There was something almost comforting about flying with Bellona; she wasn t as afraid of falling as she was with a broom. She trusted Bellona. One couldn t really trust a broom, now could they? • 20. How Of The Second Amendment How to Interpret the Second Amendment The Constitution was signed on September 17, 1789. The federalists declared that the Constitution granted the new government limited powers. Anti federalists, such as George Mason, sought after a stronger confirmation from the federal government that certain rights would not be encroached upon. After just recently breaking away from Great Britain, it is understandable that the Founding Fathers feared the rise of another domineering government. Mason wrote, A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the proper, natural and safe defense of a free state. If the government had the jurisdiction over citizen s right to use firearms, then it could disarm them as the British had once done. This led to the creation of the Second Amendment of the US Constitution, which reads, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. Fast forward to present day; our nation is currently in the core of a large controversy over gun control laws and the meaning of the Second Amendment. Privman et al (2013, p. 33) refers to these dynamics as us versus them , and demonstrates that they can act to reduce performance, creating conflicting goals and responsibilities. This could have been a problem for the project, as two members of the team already knew each other, and hence tended to support each other s opinions and positions creating something of a split in the team. The existence of such conflicts increases the importance of communication, and particularly the value of emotional intelligence in said conversation. Specifically, team members can only overcome such informal network based conflicts through communication based on putting aside the differences between groups and encouraging more effective communication behaviour designed to form an overall group (Sigmar et al, 2012, p. 301). The existence of higher levels of emotional intelligence and their application to the case of the BRC project would have been very useful in overcoming the issues encountered, and ensuring high levels of overall performance. Another important factor which is linked to the development of emotional intelligence is the development of specific team working and team based communication skills. • 23. The Pros And Cons Of Solar Energy Even though only a small amount of the sun s heat ever reaches Earth, it is enough to power the whole world. Solar energy is always being provided to us by the Sun. Solar energy can be converted into electricity and heat. It helps provide the warmth necessary for people, plants, and animals to survive. With the help of today s technology, scientists have found a way to use the sun to help us in our everyday lives. The idea of solar energy has, resulted in the use of solar power. Thus, it could lead to a more modernized and efficient society. Solar energy is a renewable resource and is converted to electrical energy in two ways: by using photovoltaic materials or the thermal process. The photovoltaic method, generates electric power by using the solar energy to convert energy from the sun into a flow of electrons. (Sethia, et al., 2017). The thermal method is a process that uses the energy from the sun to heat a working fluid in an electric generating cycle. Solar energy is one of the most important sources of energy we could have because it is a non polluting energy. This, in turn, helps in lessening the greenhouse effect. The most popular way to use solar energy is through the use of solar panels. To generate the high temperatures necessary to make steam to generate electricity, the sunlight must be concentrated. Solar thermal technology often uses reflectors in the form of parabolic concentrators or flat mirrors to focus the sun s rays onto a water filled pipe. While at work, I was also able to interview a customer who used to be in the solar panel business. His name is Henry Caldwell, and he used to work for Turnbull Contracting, LLC, in Bowling Green, Missouri. During the interview, I was able to learn about the different systems they offer, and some types of solar panels available. The two systems available from Turnbull Contracting are the string inverter and the micro inverter. First, the string inverter is the most basic out of the two. The string system would be ideal for homes and businesses that have direct sunlight and openings. The panels in this system are all chained together so that when one panels gets shade, it also impact the other panels. However, the micro inverter is more up to date ... The Manifesto also depicts an aggressive, violent, and unjust world that is devoid of any morals. Just as significant as Carter s significant prowess is his courageous, fearless, and violent demeanor. All of these traits are highly valued in Marinetti s Futurist Manifesto. Nonetheless, this initial glance of Burroughs work is highly deceptive. Though John Carter is violent, he only fights in self defense or in the defense of his dependents like his Martian watchdog, Woola, and his love interest, Dejah Thoris. He exhibits a sense of morals and justice that Marinetti clearly rejects in his manifesto. Burroughs stress on the value of morality is further solidified by the comparison between the Tharks, the green Martians, and the red Martians of Helium. The green Martians are warlike, uncultured, and unjust, which contributes to their backwardness. On the other hand, the red Martians are highly civilized because they show fairness, lawfulness, and love. • 38. Reflection On Professional Development In this short essay my own personal view on professional development will be made evident through reviewing past experiences, allowing recommendations for better practice to occur. Other topics discussed and analysed will be; the structure of the organisation, the effectiveness on leadership and management. My own role within the organisational structure will be reflected on, considering the impact of skills in practice, further, justifying what I will need for future personal and professional development. Reflective practice is an important tool, as people learn from their own professional experiences (Pascal and Brown, 2009). Reflection provides opportunity for furthering personal and professional development (Nganga, 2011). As it helps to certify knowledge skills and experience that is used within practice (Freire, 1972). Boud, Keogh and Walker (1985) states that, looking through past and present experiences helps with progression in the future. The reflection on practice is finding the weaknesses and overcoming them (Dyer and Taylor, 2012). Johns (2000) situates that a number of models can help to structure a reflection. As they provide a framework that helps develop a deeper understanding and analysis. One reflective model is Schön (2002) the model of reflection in action and reflection on action. This model is beneficial to use as it involves working on getting to the bottom of what is happening in the experience process, such as; the decisions made and the feelings felt at that time of the event. Reflection on action involves looking over the event and drawing on professional knowledge to understand what happened and why it happened and to develop deeper knowledge (Thompson and Pascal, 2012). However, this is not the only model that could be used. Other models such as Kolb (1984), Gibbs (1988) and Brookfield (1995) have different frameworks to help breakdown an issue. I like to use Schön (2002) model in the workplace as I am thinking about what I am doing as I am doing it. This does not provide a lot of time to think in depth and to break the event down, leading to not gaining a better understanding of what happened, without this I have no targets to better my professional development. ... What strategy did Coca Cola start to pursue in 2000? What were the benefits of this strategy to Coca Cola? What were the drawbacks? ANSWER 2: In the 1980s, Coca Cola changed its strategy from a localization approach where individual country units essentially ran their own operations, to a more centralized approach where key management and marketing activities took place at the company headquarters in Atlanta. The company extended this strategy to include foreign bottlers. By taking equity stakes in the bottlers, Coca Cola was able to exert greater control over them. Coca Cola made the shift to the global standardization strategy because it believed that by doing so, the company could gain significant economies of scale. However, by 2000, the company was ready to change its strategy once again. • 45. Life Is Like The Stanzas Of A Poem Life is a Poem Life is like the stanzas of a poem. Anne Sexton is unlike any other poets, her life, not only influences her poems, but her poems are part of her life. Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty), Baby picture, and Music Swims Back To Me are three examples in which sexton describes her life as poems. The troubled childhood and the depressed adulthood of Anne Sexton lead to the depressed and dark nature of her writing. Trauma from the abused childhood brought about the depressed nature of her poems. In Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty), Anne sexton describes the troubled nature of her childhood. I was forced backward. I was forced forward. Each night I am nailed into place. (st.7,line 5 7.9) That feeling of being forced and helpless. Being drained of life by the one who was supposed to keep her safe cannot be forgotten, if we try to ignore the feeling it will just eat you inside. Sexton unlike others did not try to forget it but embraced it into her poems as a way of treating her depression. She said it aloud to the world in the form of her poems. This depression took the form of words and is an important element of sexton s work. Like in the first stanza when Sexton was hypnotized and taken when she was 2, and then to the seemingly loving sound of her father: Little doll child, come here to Papa. Sit on my knee. I have kisses for the back of your neck. (st.1, line 15 19) But the meaning becomes very clear as the poem progresses. Although, Sexton s poetry is mainly sad and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
