The Face Of Face Communications
In the past twenty years, the face to face communications as well as the ways of communication have
changed. With the creation of numerous devices, applications, and an unbelievable connection with
each other, the biggest distances have been shortened in ways never imagined. Two decades ago,
people could not imagine how effective and fast a device of the size of the palm of your hand could
connect you with people all over the world. With great ideas and a mentality of progress, humans and
technology have changed the way we interact and how we used to see the world. These changes have
helped to create a more capable society which is able to do things we once thought they were
impossible, but it also has had a negative impact in the way we behave.
Within the communication world, the evolution of the telephone is the biggest attraction for people of
all ages. In the past, landlines were the main source of communication, while cellphones were
uncommon, or actually inexistent. We have come from telephones which only capability was to call,
to smartphones that have calling, texting, emailing, and different social networks that connect you
with people world widely; and all this is in one simple device that is every time smaller and better. A
smartphone is the combination between a phone and a computer. It is capable of do multiple task, such
as connect to internet to check emails, make video calls, take pictures, access to documents and
websites of your preference, and the

The Importance Of Hate Crime
How does one determine the punishment that a person will receive for the crime they have
committed? Well, there is a system of law that can be looked too. Some crimes require mandatory
sentences while the punishment for others can be determined by a judge. Generally, people tend to
receive the sentence that is due to them because the law requires it. The question is though; what does
the law says about hate crime? Hate crime is in a category of its own, and this is due to its specific
nature. It is not just old run of the mill crime but a crime fueled by some type of prejudice. They are
intended to harm the victims and send a message of intimidation and fear and today, hate crime is seen
across the world, and in abundance. This leads to more and more people calling out for justice against
the perpetrators. So, should this type of crime be punished more severely than other crime? Does the
nature of the crime justify a harder sentence? The law says yes, but why?
It is possible to have an opinion on this matter and to advocate for that opinion, but were all people to
do this, no one would get anywhere. This is why it is important to have a constant that can be looked
to, and that constant is the law. Therefore, the question is; what does the law say about hate crime? It
says that it must be punished more severely and taken more seriously than other crime. The United
States is immensely protective of its democratic values and anytime an enemy of those values appears,

A Real Estate Professional Essay
A real estate professional has a vast variety of jobs and duties. The foundation behind a realtorsrealtor
s profession includes havings an extensive knowledge ofin the buying and selling processes for
multiple different types of properties and as well as knowingunderstanding the state and federal laws
that could have an effect on a sale. Deeper into the profession you ll find working with other people,
and all the personality types that come with them, day in and day out is a very challenging task. Every
client will have a different need and different questions along with them. A real estate agent must find
ways to meet those needs as well as answer any questions. This requires a real estate agent to take
their knowledge as far as possible so they are ready for absolutely anything that can be thrown their
way. An agent must know the community, any planned changes the community may be making in the
future, or information on surrounding schools and job opportunities. When selling a house for
example, a potential buyer could ask about the type of grass growing in the backyard or the type of
wood flooring in the living room. Every day a real estate professional faces different questions, buyers
and sellers, property types, and changing laws or requirements. Due to these reasons a realtor has a
very versatile profession.
A realtor is any agent who is a member of the National Association of Realtors (Agent). This
organization has 1.1 million members. In order to remain a member

Otto owned a spice and canning buisness that was not far from there house. At Ottos office, it had a
very interesting way it was built. When you would walk up the stairs to where the Secret Annexe (the

where they were staying. If a random person were to have walked off the street and into the office,
they would be very confused in the annexe and have trouble even getting to the door to the annexe. On

other people hiding with them were Hermann Van Dan, Petronella Van Dan, and there son Peter Van

were Mr. Franks workers at his office. The guardians were the people who brought them the supplies
that they needed and they guarded the Annexe. After two years in the Annexe the members were

Negative Effects of Technology Depicted in Aldous Huxley s Brave New World Imagine a life where
the technology is so great that no one ever has to be worried about being sad or bothered by all the day
to day stress. In Brave New World published in 1932, Aldous Huxley brings the reader into the future
of London to see just what technology can do to a society. As the novel opens, the reader learns about
how the futuristic London is a Utopia, what life is like, and all about the great technological
advancements. After Bernard is introduced to the reader, he goes to the Reservation and meets John,

Another way dystopia is reveled in the novel is through the actions of John. When he is brought back
to London, he does not understand how and why the people live that way. The author makes it seem as
if the people have no feel for what freedom is, it is almost as if they are slaves, trained and
conditioned to do what they are supposed to do. In an attempt to get the people to believe and rebel
against the civilized world, John throws the soma out the window. Soma is a pill that is given to the
workers to take them to a soma holiday, a place where one is always happy and can not be bothered by
the outside world. After throwing the soma out the window, John and Bernard are taken to Mustapha
Mond s office, a controller of London. John and the Mustapha Mond get into a discussion about what
makes London so great. On page 263 Mustapha Mond says, [the people are] ignorant of passion and
old age. He is wondering what more anyone could one want besides never getting old or fat and never
having to worry about all the heartaches of passion. The final way the characters show dystopia is

History of American Art Education Essay
Western culture had many important effects on the United States as a developing nation, and art
education was no exception to this. In order to come to terms with the impact of Western culture on
American art education, it is important to chronicle the progression of art education throughout
Europe. Spanning centuries, the political, social, and economic development of European nations,
each played an important role the philosophies of art education, which in the long run, affected
American ideas concerning the subject. Thoughts about art changed and evolved in many ways over
time. Efland s The History of Art Education: Intellectual and Social Currents in Teaching the Visual
Arts offers a concise history of art education, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The role that art did play involved one that catered towards the state. Art was used as political
propaganda in that it was thought that art should serve the state, and emphasize the power of the state.
These events indirectly shaped beliefs about art in the United States, as it was a new nation that was
raised on strong European influences. Throughout the history of art education, there is a common
thread of political relation. The attitudes concerning art related directly to the political and economic
happenings at the time. This remained a constant with early American settlers as well. For example,
Puritans lives revolved around faith and farming, therefore visual art played a role that was not
necessary integral. The arts involved a broad term that included crafts that were taught at home. The
main goal of education was to teach students to read so that they could read scriptures. Art education
today has veered quite a bit from this mentality. Art is still considered a specialized area, but even
more so than in times prior to the Industrial Revolution. Where during this time period certain crafts
that were part of daily living were routinely taught to young children at home, contemporary society
has moved away from this. Very rarely is a student taught an art or a craft in the home, and because
society s amenities and values have changed so drastically, few individuals or families

Electoral Thresholds and the Representation of Women Essay
Electoral Thresholds and the Representation of Women
There are large cross national differences in the percentage of women in legislatures. Institutional
arrangement is a considerable explanatory factor in the disparity in women s representation, and many
mechanisms have been implemented to increase parity. Within PR systems, electoral systems are a
way to try to increase the representation of women. Previous studies have linked thresholds to
increased party magnitude and in turn to increased women s representation, but there have not been
extensive studies to directly link thresholds to women s representation. This paper analyzes the impact
of thresholds directly, finding that the relationship between thresholds and women s ... Show more

Not all proportional electoral systems are created equal. Various institutional tweaks can alter the
woman friendliness of a system. Electoral thresholds provide a strong example of how particular rules
can affect the membership of a governing body. There is debate regarding the effect and importance of
thresholds, and this paper adds to that discourse by directly examining the impact of thresholds on
women.
An electoral threshold is the percentage of votes that must be achieved in order to gain access to the
legislature. The relationship between thresholds and women s representation has not been conclusively
studied. In theory, high electoral thresholds are seen to decrease the number of parties admitted to the
legislature, thereby increasing party magnitude and women s representation. At the same time, low
electoral thresholds may be important to women s representation. Low thresholds allow new, small
parties access to the legislature. These parties may be leftist and friendly to women, such as Green
parties, and increase the number of women brought into the legislature. Despite these conflicting
theories, there has not been a study directly examining the linkage between electoral threshold and
women s representation. Does such a relationship exist? And if there is a relationship, why should we
even care and what does that imply? The answers to these questions are extremely important,
especially since electoral thresholds are

Marx s Critique Of Capitalism And Society Essay
Alienation was a topic of central importance to the young Marx, which analysed the way in which
society organises itself around the modes of production and how this materialistic structure
(particularly in a capitalist society) can lead to a sense of estrangement or separation of a worker from
the product of his labour. In order to demonstrate this theory of alienation, I will examine it in relation
to Marx s critique of capitalist society and will then proceed to talk about the different forms and
whether or not the phenomenon is still seen today in contemporary society.
In order to understand the concept of alienation and its dimensions, we must first understand how it is
related to Marx s critique of capitalism and society. As stated above, Marx believed that the
development of history was a sequence of the modes of production. This refers to the way that society
is organised to produce goods and services, vital to human existence. Marx believed as human beings,
in order to survive and enhance our social being, we must produce material requirements of
subsistence (Seligman, 1901, p163) and the way that we do this is through the modes of production.
The modes of production consist of two major aspects: 1) the productive forces i.e. land, raw material,
labour power, machinery, tools etc. used to produce material goods 2) the relations of production:
whether you own and control the means of production or whether you do not. (McLennan et al, 2010)
According to Marx,

Harmonic Compensation by PV-STATCOM
For emolument of current harmonics (if any), the instantaneous resoluteness of different active and
reactive powers is utilized the active and reactive powers are computed utilizing p q theory. No
restrictions are imposed on the voltage or current wave forms, and it can be applied to three phase
systems with or without a neutral wire for three phase generic voltage and current wave forms. Thus,
it is valid not only in steady state, but withal in transient states. The p q Theory first transforms
voltages and currents from the a b c to α β o coordinates, and then defines instantaneous power on
these coordinates. Hence, this theory always considers the three phase system as a unit, not a
superposition or sum of three single phase circuits. The p q Theory utilizes the α β o transformation,
additionally kenned as the Clarke transformation, which consists of an authentic matrix that
transforms three phase voltages and currents into the α β o stationary reference frames, given by:
[█(V_0@V_α@V_β )]=√3/2 [■(1/√2 1/√2 1/√2@1 1/√2 1/√3@0 √3/2 √3/2)][█(V_a@V_b@V_c )]
[█(i_L0@i_Lα@i_Lβ )]=√3/2 [■(1/√2 1/√2 1/√2@1 1/√2 1/√3@0 √3/2 √3/2)][█(i_La@i_Lb@i_Lc
)] By utilizing the α β o transformation the zero sequence component can be disunited from the a b c
phase components. The α and β axes make no contribution to zero sequence components. If the three
phase system has three wires (no neutral conductor), no zero sequence current components are present
and i0 can be eliminated

How Did Yugoslavia Achieve Independence From The Soviet...
Yugoslavia was the only Eastern European country which manages to not fall under the Soviet
occupation. The main reasons of this fact are that Yugoslavia was not liberated by the Red Army, but
from the Yugoslav partisans. This army was led by communists. In 1945 the leader of the Communist
Resistance, Josip Broz Tito, took the control of the country. Tito was not a soviet trained Stalinist;
instead he was an independent national leader who did not accept to do as the Moscow wish. Tito was
one of the most significant causes why Yugoslavia achieved to maintain her independence from the
Soviet Union. Firstly, the relations between Moscow and Belgrade seemed good. Yugoslavia also

Albanian and Soviet relations remained warm during the last years of Stalin s life mainly because of
the Albanian non economic stability. Albania was depending on Soviet European countries, as all its
foreign trade was conducted in those countries. Likewise, the Soviet Union underwrote shortfalls in
Albania s balance of payments with long term grants.in the early s 50s the health care system and the

society. Within the leaderfship of the Communist Party of Albania tensions arose between pro and anti
Yugoslav personalities. Koci Xoxe was the pro Yugoslav person while the Xhoxha was anti Yugoslav.
Xoxe main purpose was to overthrow Hoxha and to cooperate with Yugoslavia. In 1948 after the
Soviet Yugoslav split, Albania achieves to break from the Yugoslav occupation and became the first

Theme Of The Hunting Snake
Throughout the detailed adventures in these poems, they both explore and relate to the battle between
man and nature. This battle has lasted for many years as man and nature have lived together on this
planet for centuries. The Hunting Snake talks about how nature can both be beautiful and glamorous
and also be dangerous while Pike chooses to focus on how nature dominates over humans and
definitely has a darker tone to it.
The Hunting Snake tells the story of a couple that see an elegant yet dangerous snake cross in front of
them. The couple is shown to be both amazed and terrified of the snake s presence. The snake is
described in such a way so that its beauty and killer instinct are both clearly portrayed. The couple s

The quote we took a deeper breath of day shows how close Wright believes that they came to death,
yet their amazement of being in the presence of such a beautiful creature. The verb quested that
surrounds the snake demonstrates its purpose and the fact that he is not slightly interested by the
couple s presence throughout his mission to catch his prey. This symbolizes how humans cannot affect
nature s actions.
The theme of this poem is therefore based on man s vulnerability to nature and the way that creatures
such as snakes represent a type of danger that is important to be respectful and mindful of. This poem
also reminds the reader of the healthy respect they need to have for nature and the natural order.
In the poem Pike , the author definitely wanted to have a darker take of the role of nature. All detail
that is described about it has an extremely sinister vibe to it. Ted Hughes, the author, uses the natural
world to its advantage by creating a realistic vision where humans are only on species of many and are
clearly not as powerful as they would like to believe. This poem focuses on the amount of violence in
the natural world and the predatory behavior that happens there. Hughes attempts to reunite what first
appears to be a horrible form of violence that nature causes but seems to him as

Essay On The Louisiana Purchase
On April 30, 1803, France sold 2,144,510 square kilometers of land to the United States of America
known as the Louisiana Purchase. The United States of America paid 15 million dollars (about 283
million dollars today) in this treaty. The Louisiana Purchase was one of the most crucial land tradings
in the history. It provided territory for westward expansion and extended the land area; however, it
was opposed by many people at that time. At the same time, 15 million dollars total was much more
than the national financial capacity of the period. In any case, the Louisiana Purchase was so
significant to the US because it gave them a better way of trading to foreign countries and allowed the
United States to become a much more extensive territory.
The Louisiana Purchase territory in that time was much bigger than the Louisiana Territory today. In
the Louisiana Purchase, Louisiana s territory started from the Mississippi River to the beginning of the
Rocky Mountains. The Louisiana Purchase territory included Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas,
Oklahoma, and Nebraska, parts of Minnesota and Louisiana west of Mississippi River, including New
Orleans, big parts of North and northeastern New Mexico, South Dakota, northern Texas, some parts
of Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado as well as portions of Canadian provinces Alberta and

History of Gun Control in America
Introduction When it comes to controversial topics in today s society, there are so many that it can be
difficult to be a straight shooter. Among all of them, however, debate over gun control has been
prevalent for so long, it is something many people can easily set their sights on. It is an issue
everybody should have an opinion on, as it is vastly important, potentially threatening, and all too
present in modern society. Many find the mere concept of gun control invasive to their constitutional
rights, while others see lack of gun control to be astoundingly dangerous and entirely chimerical.

Increases in gun control were slight from then until the 1960 s, a decade bejeweled with peace
movements. Landmark events such as the emerge of vast controversy of America s war with Vietnam
and the assassination of President John F. Kennedy encouraged broad legislation in favor of gun
control. During this time period, Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson s seized advantage of the nation s
opinions, and won passage of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 and the Gun
Control Act of 1968 (History of Gun control Legislation 1). The latter became primary law for
regulating firearms, restricting felons, drug users, and the mentally ill from buying guns, expanding
gun dealers licensing and record keeping requirements, and raised the legal age for purchasing
handguns to 21.
Nearly two decades later, constituential opinions toward gun control saw a prominent shift, displaying
opposition of it. Congress passed the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986, which protected gun
dealers whom were not found to be violating multiple codes from inspections by the Bureau of
Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms more than once a year. The shift in opinion was not unanimous
though, and during the same year civilian ownership of machine guns built after May 19th of 1986
was banned. However, the law played no effect on firearms

How Did Constantine Make A Collage About Christianity
Constantine, the son of Constantius I Chlorus, junior emperor and St. Helena, was raised on the court
of co Emperor Diocletian. When his father died in 306, Constantine was declared junior emperor of

emperor when your father resigns, but you could also be emperor if the people want you to lead them.

Grimm Brothers Cinderella
In the famous story of Cinderella, what do you think is the theme or main lesson of Cinderella? The
theme of Cinderella is bad people never succeed and good people will always prevail. The Grimm
Brothers Cinderella presents the theme of the Cinderella Archetype the best. The three different
examples that best present the theme in Grimm Brothers Cinderella are a bird takes out both of the
stepsisters eyes for mistreating Cinderella poorly, making fun of Cinderella and not giving her a dress
, and making Cinderella be their maid and in the end the stepsisters miserably live with no eyes and
with either no heels or no toes.

If you were to compare Charles Perrault with the Grimm Brothers they both wrote in the beginning
that the stepsisters treat her poorly but in the end it is different because in the Grimm Brothers the
sisters get consequences from birds. In the Charles Perrault Cinderella they forgave Cinderella for all
of their wickedness and Cinderella accepts the apologization and gives them lodgings in the palace
and 2 lords of the court. Only in the Grimm Brothers Cinderella, she has to pick up lentils that her
stepsisters throw down for her to pick up. The Charles Perrault Cinderella difference that was stated
affects the theme because since the sisters apologized to Cinderella she gave them a lodging and 2
lords which disagrees with the theme a little bit because the theme states that bad people never
succeed. The first part doesn t work because the stepsisters didn t get a consequence in the Charles
Perrault. In the Grimm Brothers one they did and in the Charles Perrault they got to live in the palace.
Thatt is kind of like succeeding so that crosses out that bad people never succeed but the good people
succeeding still works because in the end Cinderella gets married in both stories. The Cinder Maid and
the Grimm Brothers are amazingly similar. They are

The Eighth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution Essay
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments
inflicted.
Eighth Amendment, 1791 The Eighth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution limits the punishments that
may be imposed by the government on American citizens. These limits are compulsory among the
states by way of the Fourteenth Amendment. The English Bill of Rights of 1689 expressed concern
with arbitrary and disproportionate sanctions, giving way to the Founders inclusion of the prohibition
against cruel and unusual punishment. To explore the Eighth Amendment it is important to consider
constitutionally accepted punishments, the ever evolving practice of capital punishment, and eighth
amendment protection inside prison walls. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Supreme Court upholds the Excessive Fines Clause only as it pertains to fines imposed by and
paid directly to the government. The court noted the word fine was understood to mean a payment to a
sovereign as punishment for some offense. ( U.s. constitution: Eight, 2011) Eighth Amendment
protection, therefore, does not extend to the punitive damages imposed by a civil jury in cases
between private parties. The Court has since held in Austin v. United States (1993) that protection
does exist in cases involving civil forfeiture since it is intended as punishment. The prohibition against
cruel and unusual punishment largely concerns itself with disproportionate and arbitrary punishments
imposed by the government. The Court has repeatedly emphasized the Eighth Amendment s expansive
and vital character and its capacity for evolutionary growth. (Kanovitz, 2010) Cruelty is interpreted as
actions that oppose current standards of decency. As public opinion grows and changes these standards
are apt to change. The vague wording of the Eighth Amendment allows room for the opinion of what
punishments are acceptable to adapt to modern times. There has been unrelenting controversy over the
years concerning the constitutionality of matters such as mandatory minimum sentences and three
strikes laws, life without parole for juvenile offenders and capital punishment. Mandatory minimum
sentences began in 1951 when Congress passed the Boggs Act, allowing for tough mandatory

Introduction: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is one of the central nervous system (CNS) diseases that involve
the axons of the brain and spinal cord, causing the destruction of the myelin and the axons. Symptoms,
severity and course of the disease vary from person to person. It is hard to diagnose MS because its
signs and symptoms are similar to some other diseases. Metabolomics is a new method of early
diagnosis of many diseases. It is a method of quantitative measurement and systemic approach to

Anger In The Angry Young Men
Anger is an innate feature and feeling that is present in all human beings. It is a feeling the leads man
to feel that he is not restricted and free. It gives one the motivation to face everything and create his
own predestination ( Grasso1).Vincent K. Bissonette believes that anger is a respond to the injury and
unfairness that the mind receives towards something (126). Aristotle declares that anger is a
motivation that accompanied by pain. It leads to the idea of trying to make the other suffer through
taking revenge from him without any reason (20). Carol Tavris asserts that anger, from an

Summary Of Janus By Ann Beattie
The short story, Janus by Ann Beattie is a story that pays great attention to details. Beattie uses
descriptive words to raise the awareness of the reader and point them to certain objects and characters
that later serve as symbolisms in determining the meaning of the story. Although there are many
details that help illustrate the main idea, we can identify three crucial details that perform a central
function in stressing the meaning of the story. The first central detail is the bowl. The opening line to
the story is, The bowl was perfect. The fact that the bowl was mentioned first and not the protagonist,
Andrea, stresses its significance in the story. Throughout the story the bowl is constantly described as

Religious Role In Canterbury Tales
During the Middle Ages in Medieval Europe, the Roman Catholic Church played an important role in
practically every aspect of life. It dominated and had a tremendous control over everyone. They
specifically had control over the decision of who goes to Heaven and who goes to Hell therefore
creating a sort of fear amongst people who believed that their souls were the most important thing they
had and that the only way for their souls to go Heaven was through the church. For this reason exactly,
some religious figures started to take advantage of their position knowing how devoted people were to
the church. This led to the formation of stereotypes towards them and triggered distaste toward the
church. Chaucer was one mainly affected by religion and the church; it played an important role in his
poem the Canterbury Tales where he used religious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When we think of a nun we usually think of a religious woman who dedicates her life to worshipping,

the nuns, administering discipline, and making decisions on things such as housing and work. In
Chaucer s Canterbury Tales we are seen with the character of Madam Eglantyne, a prioress who
obsesses with earthly pleasures. When you take on the role of being a nun you are prohibited from
owning, and especially wearing, any sorts of jewelry and intricate clothing. However, that prohibition

Soft issues, cultural human resource issues will be as much of a driver of cost and schedule as the hard
issues like planning and execution. It is critical to the success of this project, and perhaps the
organization s international growth strategy, that this project be completed on time, and on budget.
The organization anticipates possible schedule delays and cost overruns due to cultural assumptions
and misunderstandings. Knowing that schedule delays will affect costs and international expansion
strategy, we pay particular attention to the project s critical path (see Appendix A, and the
accompanying MS Project file s network diagram view). To deal with these risks, the team has built
several feeding time buffers into the work breakdown schedule, at constraints along the critical path
(Goldratt, 1998). A large project buffer has also been added to protect the end of the project. Attention
to the safety buffers along the critical path will contribute to the team s successful execution of the
project. This plan presents an overview of the project organization, including the team s organization

Essay about Small Pox History
Small Pox History
Smallpox has been believed to be a prominent killer for thousands of years. Before 900 AD smallpox
and measles were easily interchangeable to many physicians. These two diseases possessed similar
symptoms, such as fevers and rashes, making it very difficult to distinguish between them. It was not
until the Persian physician, Rhazes Ar Raz Abmiz, that measles and smallpox were able to be
clinically distinguished in 900 AD. Much later in 1751, Thomas Sydenham found further
differentiating characteristics between the two diseases(Aufderheide, 202). Through the years, with its
many outbreaks in varying areas across the planet, smallpox claimed millions of victims. Many rulers

With the development of the vaccine, laws requiring vaccination soon appeared in many
countries(McNeil, 166). When deaths from the vaccination itself outnumbered the reported deaths
from actual smallpox in 1970, many countries decided to discontinue the vaccination. Today smallpox
has been eradicated from the planet; many are still worried that it will be used for bioterrorism as it
was by the British army who attempted to infect representatives of the Delaware Indians with two
infected blankets during the 1763 Pontiac s Rebellion(Hopkins, 16).
Smallpox has been seen throughout history. In ancient records the Lesser Pox has been believed to
refer to smallpox while the Greater Pox is syphilis. It has also been referred to as the petite
verole(McNeil, 166). This human unique disease resembles both cowpox and monkeypox. Smallpox
is caused by two virus variants. One is Variola minor, which is the lesser harmful variant. It is usually
referred to as alastrim. Its mortality rate is only 1% of its victims. On the other hand, its far more
harmful virus relative, Variola major, has a mortality rate of 20 40% of its victims(Aufderheide, 203).
In order for this disease to spread among individuals, a non immune person must come in close
contact with an infected individual that was infected less than two weeks prior. Throughout history,
persistent migrations also aided the spread of smallpox. Many

The Tyger Poem Analysis
This poem dramatizes the conflict between the divine perspective and the speaker s terrified human
and morally affronted perspective. The theme of The Tyger is creation and the ability of divine figure
to create evil. The poem mainly focuses on the beauty and ferociousness of creation in general and
how we think we see the whole story. William Blake wrote this piece in the voice of a witness that
watched the making of the so called Tyger and what it has become. This witness describes to the
audience which is directed to society of what he/she sees in order to open their eyes to see the bigger
picture. The poem is written in a rhythm of both trochaic and iambic meter where the author purposely
changes the last line of each stanza in order to make that specific line stand out the most for the
audience to notice. The Tyger is composed of six stanzas, each containing four lines, and is written
with an AABB rhyme scheme. Many of the sentences are written as interrogative sentences as Blake
asks several rhetorical questions. Also, the first and last stanzas are almost identical, with the
exception of a single word, which emphasizes this text and at the end forces the reader to reevaluate
these words after reading the rest of the poem. The author uses words such as fearful, dread, and
deadly to draw an image for the reader that the creature is a beast capable of destruction. The first 2
lines begin with the repetition of the character ( Tyger, Tyger ). The repetition creates a chant like
mood to the whole poem, which contributes to the mysteriousness. It quotes burning bright (1) which
is an example of alliteration. This piece may describe the appearance of the Tyger as tigers have fiery
orange fur, or it may on a deeper analyzation describe a kind of energy or power that this Tyger
possesses. The Tyger s presence in the forests of the night (2) further increases the mystery and power
of the creature it s mysterious, while at the same time burning with some sort of inner force. The
speaker uses the symbolic character of a tiger as something so fearsome yet very beautiful. William
Blake is building on the idea that nature, like a work of art, can in some way contain a reflection of its

Analysis Of Sanford Meisner On Acting
In his book Sanford Meisner On Acting, Meisner teaches students in his class the techniques needed in
acting. The book is written in a way that is enjoyable to the reader because it is written in third person,
where an observer writes about what occurred in the class among Meisner and his students. In the
book, Meisner teaches the students about the importance of being genuine; they should stop
pretending and they should stop being polite. They should rather just do what feels genuine to them. I
liked that the book was written based on observed experiences and not just laying down the acting
techniques for readers to follow. By reading about the experiences, I felt as though I was in the class
with Meisner and this enabled me to understand the techniques better.
The first things that caught my eye from the book are the principles Meisner gives his students. On the
topic The Pinch and The Touch , he says, Don t do anything unless something makes you do it...what
you do doesn t depend on you: it depends on the other fellow (Meisner 34). He goes further to
illustrate the two principles by pinching John, one of his students, who reacts by shouting Mr.
Meisner! The principles caught my eye because I have heard my acting professor constantly tell us the
same thing. He always says that we should have an objective of why we are choosing to do a certain
action and our actions should be driven by what our partner does or says. I liked his way of illustrating
the principles

Sarah Ruhl s Eurydice presents a modern interpretation and extension of the classic Greek myth of
Orpheus and Eurydice while employing an untraditional and unique structure. There are in turn
several interconnected structural choices that are purposely done and have significant implications on
the play s meaning. For instance, Ruhl meticulously and shrewdly contrasts significant climactic
moments with trivial arguments and discussions. This is done in order to enhance the contrast between
the mythic and mundane elements of the play, allow the characters to avoid emotion, and establish an

The Influence Of The Film Auteur
According to the Oxford Dictionary of Film Studies, authorship is defined as an approach to film
analysis and criticism that focuses on the ways in which the personal influence, individual sensibility,
and artistic vision of a film s director might be identified in their work (Annette Kuhn and Guy
Westwell 2012:25). The theory at the root of this concept, was first developed in France, in the 1950s,
under the name of politique des auteurs, by director and critic François Truffaut, in his illustrious
essay A Certain Tendency of the French Cinema (1954), originally published in Cahiers du Cinéma.
Throughout this article, Truffaut sided against metteurs en scène, considered mere technicians,
affirming that filmmakers should rather be auteurs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the fundamental subjects of the oeuvre are no more than four. As Kieslowski himself
declared: all my films, [...] are about individuals [...] who don t quite know how to live (1993:79). It is
hence clear, that the theme of individuality is essential in the director s work. In fact, even though his
pictures deal with highly debated issues such as death penalty and the universal values of liberty,
equality and fraternity, they are only concerned with them on a very human, intimate and personal
plane and not a philosophical [...] a political or social one (Kieslowski and Stok 1993:212). Indeed, the
director s chief interests are the feelings and emotions of his characters, the exploration of their
interiority and of their quest to find meaning in life, thus the melancholic contemplative mood of films
such as Blue and Red.
In line with the motif of individuality, is the theme of loneliness. All the protagonists of Kieslowski s
pictures are alone and isolated, often because they have experienced an emotional trauma, such as
abandonment as in A Short Film About Love or the loss of a loved one as in Blue. They live in big
cities, like Paris and Warsaw, but are nonetheless unable to truly connect with others, and limit
themselves to observing life with a voyeuristic

The Internet Of Information Technology
Part A:
Big data is a term to explain large complex data set, and big data is challenging the traditional data
handling method. The big data itself is useless, but after processed and analyzed the big data would
generate valuable information. This article would discuss relevant technologies and areas in the big
data age.
1. IoT:
1.1. Introduction to IoT Figure 1. In IoT things are able to connect with each other through internet.
The internet of Things (IOT) is an important part of new generation of information technology and
known as an important stage of development information age. (Ashton, 2009). As the name suggest,
IOT means the materials, objects, animals or people which are connected to the internet without

there would be 26 billion devises/thing would join the IoT, and by the year of 2020 and in the future
and become a milestone of IoT.
1.2. RFID and RFID system Figure 2 RFID tag is widely used in manufacturing and logistic industry
RFID is a type of automate identification and data capture technology (AIDC), which use wireless
frequency to get the related data from object, and recognize it. (Ashton, 2009). It is not necessary to
make a physical contact between objects in IoT to load data (it allows hundreds of meter to load data),
and the data can be transferred correctly and fast. (Gershenfeld, Raffi, Danny, 2004). RFID tag can be
used at many fields, such as logistic and manufacturing industry to locate and monitor the materials or
product.
In IoT, the RFID system composed of electric tag, reader, and internet, and the RFID system use
electronic tag to identify specific object, and RFID tag would exchange data through wireless
frequency. (Bonsor Wesley, 2014). The reader transmit the host computer command to RFID tag, and
convey the RFID tag s information back to the host computer. (Bonsor Wesley, 2014).
The RFID system can be divided in to three types based on its frequency, which are low frequency
system (30KHz 300KHz), high frequency RFID system (3MHz 30MHz), and microwave system.
(Rouse, 2014). The microwave system is the majorly used in the IoT, which has a frequency greater
than 300MHz and can be used to operate multiple RFID

Analysis Of Tracks By Louise Erdrich
Almost everyone has heard the quote, you can t understand someone until you walk a mile in their
shoes at least once in their life. It means that a person should not judge another person before
considering their perspective on something. For the novel Tracks by Louise Erdrich, that quote is an
important theme for its main characters. The novel gives a glimpse into the lives of Native Americans
in 20th century America through the narrative of two characters: Nanapush and Pauline Puyat. The
stories of the two alternate through every chapter, with each character narrating their own side of the
same continuous timeline. The first narrator is Nanapush, a wise elder of the Ojibwe tribe, whose
wisdom is a useful tool for the tribe s people. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were at one time close with one another while working together in the same town of Argus, but
over the years they began to drift apart.
There is one specific story within the novel that truly shows the differences in both Nanapush and
Pauline s narratives. The story is of Eli Kashpaw, Fleur s husband, and presumed father of Lulu. The
story begins with Nanapush telling of how Eli visits his cabin for advice on how to get Fleur to like
him, or as Nanapush described it, [Eli] wanted something other than what I could teach him about the
woods...he wanted to know how I satisfied three wives (Erdrich 41). That interaction between Eli and
Nanapush showed how trusted Nanapush was to the people of the tribe, they felt they could ask him
for anything: from advice on how to hunt to how to get a girlfriend. [Eli] asked me the old time way to
make a woman love him and I went into detail so he should make no disgraceful error and those
details seemed to work as the reader sees in the next weeks that Eli and Fleur are living together in the
woods.
As the reader saw how Nanapush was the initiator of their relationship, in Pauline s chapter, she is
seen as its destructor. Pauline has always had a fascination/jealously towards Fleur ever since they
met. When they worked together in Argus, she would always compare herself to Fleur saying, I was so
poor looking, I was invisible to most customers and to the men in the shop while Fleur made [the men
s] brains hum (Erdrich 18)

Islam and Western Media

Introduction to Islam
Islam amp; Muslims in Western Media
In July 12, 2008 publication of the New York Times, it was reported that the President of Sri Lanka
was killed in a suicide attack. The religion of the suicide bomber was never reported. The very same
newspaper (on November 5, 2009), reported that how a Muslim attacker attacked the US Base and
killed US army soldiers. This discrimination against the Muslims and Islam is nothing but the fruit of
Western Media s propaganda against the Muslims and Islam. In Western countries, Islam is often
looked upon as an extremist , terrorist , or fundamental religion. In many cases, the media s ... Show

The part that the reporters omitted or failed to state was that the Muslim soldiers were praying on a
battlefield in Afghanistan. Common sense of the situation meant that the soldiers had to remain armed
at all times in case of an ambush at any time. This is a clear example of the media s biased and
inaccurate reporting (Martinez 1, Ba Yunus 1).
While talking about soldiers, I would like to talk about another western media s misconception i.e.
Jihad. The ideas of war and violence have become related to the Islamic religion from the media. Jihad
is so often apparent in the news because the media thinks it is Islam s justification for war and
violence. The Quran (Muslim Holy Book) says Fight for the sake of Allah those that fight against you,
but do not attack them first. Allah (God) does not love aggression . A Muslim is permitted to take up
arms only as an act of self defense. A Muslim has the right to defend his life, and his property
(Martinez 1, Hassan 4). They (media) cannot differentiate between a struggle for independence in
Kashmir or Palestine or Lebanon and terrorism in Afghanistan. Mujahid and terrorist mean the same
in their dictionary.
Jihad literally means The struggle in the path of God , or holy war . However, the Western media often
abuses the meaning of jihad by referring to it as a holy war where Muslims unreasonably kill non
believers. But the fact is, is that jihad can

Historical Context Of Le Corbusier
When considering the cultural and social aspects of a building, one must study the historical context of
its construction. In the 1920 s, European architecture was beginning to integrate traditional elements
with the new social demands for modern technology. Although many architects and engineers were
involved, Le Corbusier was the French architect who people today believe led this architectural
revolution in Europe. Few are aware of the fact that Pierre Chareau also played a significant role in
this modernist movement. Originally a furniture designer, the Maison de Verre was his first full scale
architectural project. Doctor Jean Dalsace and his wife Annie commissioned Chareau to design their
home and kept a binding friendship throughout and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As you walk through the typical Parisian entrance door of 31 Rue Saint Guillaume in the stylish sixth
arrondissement of Paris, you find yourself standing in front of a large glass box. Although one could
argue that the Maison de Verre is an interruption in the continuity of the Haussmannian buildings of
the neighbourhood, it is still hidden away and shielded from the public eye. It may look like the odd
one out, but it reflects the personality of Chareau himself as many architects today consider him as an
outsider . It must be remembered that the Maison de Verre, although an overall individual achievement
in the eyes of modern architecture, was a collaboration between Pierre Chareau and Bernard Bijvoet, a
contemporary Dutch architect who kept a low and modest profile in relation to the buildings he
contributed to. In addition, the skilled metalworker and craftsman Louis Dalbet contributed to the
fabrication of the mechanical toys. Although it received initial criticism for its controversial nature,
the Maison de Verre is a unique and significant contribution to 20th century architecture. Since its
construction, the Maison de Verre has proven to be a touchstone for architects throughout the world,
including Richard Rogers, Renzo Piano, Jean Nouvel, Glenn Murcutt and many others

Impact Of Climate Change On The Social And Environmental...
Climate change is directly linked to:
Rising sea and air temperatures
Rising sea levels
Extreme weather events
Directly impacting on the social, economic and environmental structures of the Gold Coast.
The rising temperatures of global warming has initiated the melting of ice sheets, contributing to
global sea level rise. Sea levels are expected to rise more than a metre beyond existing stable tidal
range positions, resulting in new inundation of land and shifts in shorelines. Inundation and coastal
instability because of erosion, exaggerated by the extreme weather events caused by climate change, is
a key risk for coastal areas such as the Gold Coast.
The impacts of climate change on Gold coast infrastructure are believed to include:

Essay on Technology in Headrick´s Power over People
As we progressed through the course, Modern World, the students were able to see various incidences
of how technology either enhanced or deteriorated a civilization or a nation. One of the primary reads
in the course was Headrick s book, Power over Peoples. It is important to look at Headrick s work and
see just what is meant by his title, Power Over People. From what students have gathered, this means
the use of technology as a means to gain an edge over another civilization, hence, using your power or
technology to dominate another group of people. Furthermore, it is important to note just what is
meant by the term technology. According to Headrick, technology is all the ways in which humans use

The Albanians were the majority and the Serbians being the minority. In this situation, the Serbians
oppressed the Albanians. In retaliation, the Albanians formed a terrorist group known as the Kosovo
Liberation Army (KLA) which was a terrorist group that fought for the rights of the Albanians. The
various actions taken by the KLA caused NATO involvement. Their involvement required a series of
air raids and bombings to flush the Serbian people out of Kosovo. However, the story gets much
deeper than that. As we delve deeper in to the situation, it becomes evident that negotiations were
close to being met; however, they failed due to NATO military annex (Gibbs). Once the negotiation
agreements failed, the US sided with the Albanians and proceeded to attack the Serbians. In their
attack, the US used it superior technology (planes) to gain an advantage over the Serbs. Rather than
constantly sending men in to harm s way, the US released a series of air raids to flush out the Serbians.
Now, from reading this one may think that the US fully achieved its goal by flushing out the Serbians
which they did, but there is more as well. According to Dr. Grant Hammond, the US can say that they
met their goal by purging Kosovo of the Serbians; however, can t say [they] won because [they] did
not accomplish the established goals. As stated by President Bill Clinton, these [goals] were to
demonstrate the seriousness of NATO s purpose so

The Pros And Cons Of Steroids In Sports
Over the past century using steroids or performance enhancing drugs has been a massive issue in
today s athletic society. Using steroids is unfair to athletes and their fans, because it gives certain
sportsman an unfair advantage. Some athletes try to win at all costs even if sometimes that cost is
there career, achievements, and even there lifes. Doping, or as it is known on the streets, juicing does
no more than increase an individual s body mass. As stated from the New York State Health
Department Anabolic steroids help build muscle tissue and increase body mass by acting like the body
s natural male hormone, testosterone. However, steroids cannot improve an athlete s agility or skill
(Anabolic). This means that no matter how strong or powerful the steroids are it doesn t make the
athlete a true competitor. Most athletes that use this drug are looking for a quick and easier way to get
an advantage on their competitors. In saying so it s not the fact of an athlete getting big that makes
them want to juice , but it is the idea and the results of it making them better stronger and more
competitive athletes. There are quite a few reasons that using steroids is illegal in major league, and
worldwide sports. For starters, the drug itself inflicts intense damage on the users body. These effects
include strokes, cancers, blood clots, impaired liver functions, liver tumors, stunted skeletal growth,
hep B and C, and HIV (Anabolic). The list of side

  • 2. The Face Of Face Communications In the past twenty years, the face to face communications as well as the ways of communication have changed. With the creation of numerous devices, applications, and an unbelievable connection with each other, the biggest distances have been shortened in ways never imagined. Two decades ago, people could not imagine how effective and fast a device of the size of the palm of your hand could connect you with people all over the world. With great ideas and a mentality of progress, humans and technology have changed the way we interact and how we used to see the world. These changes have helped to create a more capable society which is able to do things we once thought they were impossible, but it also has had a negative impact in the way we behave. Within the communication world, the evolution of the telephone is the biggest attraction for people of all ages. In the past, landlines were the main source of communication, while cellphones were uncommon, or actually inexistent. We have come from telephones which only capability was to call, to smartphones that have calling, texting, emailing, and different social networks that connect you with people world widely; and all this is in one simple device that is every time smaller and better. A smartphone is the combination between a phone and a computer. It is capable of do multiple task, such as connect to internet to check emails, make video calls, take pictures, access to documents and websites of your preference, and the ... • 3. The Importance Of Hate Crime How does one determine the punishment that a person will receive for the crime they have committed? Well, there is a system of law that can be looked too. Some crimes require mandatory sentences while the punishment for others can be determined by a judge. Generally, people tend to receive the sentence that is due to them because the law requires it. The question is though; what does the law says about hate crime? Hate crime is in a category of its own, and this is due to its specific nature. It is not just old run of the mill crime but a crime fueled by some type of prejudice. They are intended to harm the victims and send a message of intimidation and fear and today, hate crime is seen across the world, and in abundance. This leads to more and more people calling out for justice against the perpetrators. So, should this type of crime be punished more severely than other crime? Does the nature of the crime justify a harder sentence? The law says yes, but why? It is possible to have an opinion on this matter and to advocate for that opinion, but were all people to do this, no one would get anywhere. This is why it is important to have a constant that can be looked to, and that constant is the law. Therefore, the question is; what does the law say about hate crime? It says that it must be punished more severely and taken more seriously than other crime. The United States is immensely protective of its democratic values and anytime an enemy of those values appears, the U.S ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When he is brought back to London, he does not understand how and why the people live that way. The author makes it seem as if the people have no feel for what freedom is, it is almost as if they are slaves, trained and conditioned to do what they are supposed to do. In an attempt to get the people to believe and rebel against the civilized world, John throws the soma out the window. Soma is a pill that is given to the workers to take them to a soma holiday, a place where one is always happy and can not be bothered by the outside world. After throwing the soma out the window, John and Bernard are taken to Mustapha Mond s office, a controller of London. John and the Mustapha Mond get into a discussion about what makes London so great. On page 263 Mustapha Mond says, [the people are] ignorant of passion and old age. The final way the characters show dystopia is through their speech. Mustapha Mond says, [the people are] plagued with no mothers or fathers . . . or lovers . . . they re so conditioned that they practically can not help behaving as they ought to behave (264). In order to come to terms with the impact of Western culture on American art education, it is important to chronicle the progression of art education throughout Europe. Spanning centuries, the political, social, and economic development of European nations, each played an important role the philosophies of art education, which in the long run, affected American ideas concerning the subject. Thoughts about art changed and evolved in many ways over time. The role that art did play involved one that catered towards the state. Art was used as political propaganda in that it was thought that art should serve the state, and emphasize the power of the state. These events indirectly shaped beliefs about art in the United States, as it was a new nation that was raised on strong European influences. Throughout the history of art education, there is a common thread of political relation. The attitudes concerning art related directly to the political and economic happenings at the time. This remained a constant with early American settlers as well. For example, Puritans lives revolved around faith and farming, therefore visual art played a role that was not necessary integral. The arts involved a broad term that included crafts that were taught at home. The main goal of education was to teach students to read so that they could read scriptures. Art education today has veered quite a bit from this mentality. Art is still considered a specialized area, but even more so than in times prior to the Industrial Revolution. Where during this time period certain crafts that were part of daily living were routinely taught to young children at home, contemporary society has moved away from this. Very rarely is a student taught an art or a craft in the home, and because society s amenities and values have changed so drastically, few individuals or families ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Electoral Thresholds and the Representation of Women Essay Electoral Thresholds and the Representation of Women There are large cross national differences in the percentage of women in legislatures. Institutional arrangement is a considerable explanatory factor in the disparity in women s representation, and many mechanisms have been implemented to increase parity. Within PR systems, electoral systems are a way to try to increase the representation of women. Previous studies have linked thresholds to increased party magnitude and in turn to increased women s representation, but there have not been extensive studies to directly link thresholds to women s representation. Not all proportional electoral systems are created equal. Various institutional tweaks can alter the woman friendliness of a system. Electoral thresholds provide a strong example of how particular rules can affect the membership of a governing body. There is debate regarding the effect and importance of thresholds, and this paper adds to that discourse by directly examining the impact of thresholds on women. An electoral threshold is the percentage of votes that must be achieved in order to gain access to the legislature. The relationship between thresholds and women s representation has not been conclusively studied. In theory, high electoral thresholds are seen to decrease the number of parties admitted to the legislature, thereby increasing party magnitude and women s representation. At the same time, low electoral thresholds may be important to women s representation. Low thresholds allow new, small parties access to the legislature. These parties may be leftist and friendly to women, such as Green parties, and increase the number of women brought into the legislature. Despite these conflicting theories, there has not been a study directly examining the linkage between electoral threshold and women s representation. Does such a relationship exist? And if there is a relationship, why should we even care and what does that imply? The answers to these questions are extremely important, especially since electoral thresholds are ... • 10. Marx s Critique Of Capitalism And Society Essay Alienation was a topic of central importance to the young Marx, which analysed the way in which society organises itself around the modes of production and how this materialistic structure (particularly in a capitalist society) can lead to a sense of estrangement or separation of a worker from the product of his labour. In order to demonstrate this theory of alienation, I will examine it in relation to Marx s critique of capitalist society and will then proceed to talk about the different forms and whether or not the phenomenon is still seen today in contemporary society. In order to understand the concept of alienation and its dimensions, we must first understand how it is related to Marx s critique of capitalism and society. As stated above, Marx believed that the development of history was a sequence of the modes of production. This refers to the way that society is organised to produce goods and services, vital to human existence. Marx believed as human beings, in order to survive and enhance our social being, we must produce material requirements of subsistence (Seligman, 1901, p163) and the way that we do this is through the modes of production. The modes of production consist of two major aspects: 1) the productive forces i.e. land, raw material, labour power, machinery, tools etc. used to produce material goods 2) the relations of production: whether you own and control the means of production or whether you do not. Thus, it is valid not only in steady state, but withal in transient states. The p q Theory first transforms voltages and currents from the a b c to α β o coordinates, and then defines instantaneous power on these coordinates. Hence, this theory always considers the three phase system as a unit, not a superposition or sum of three single phase circuits. The p q Theory utilizes the α β o transformation, additionally kenned as the Clarke transformation, which consists of an authentic matrix that transforms three phase voltages and currents into the α β o stationary reference frames, given by: [█(V_0@V_α@V_β )]=√3/2 [■(1/√2 1/√2 1/√2@1 1/√2 1/√3@0 √3/2 √3/2)][█(V_a@V_b@V_c )] [█(i_L0@i_Lα@i_Lβ )]=√3/2 [■(1/√2 1/√2 1/√2@1 1/√2 1/√3@0 √3/2 √3/2)][█(i_La@i_Lb@i_Lc )] By utilizing the α β o transformation the zero sequence component can be disunited from the a b c phase components. The α and β axes make no contribution to zero sequence components. If the three phase system has three wires (no neutral conductor), no zero sequence current components are present and i0 can be eliminated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main reasons of this fact are that Yugoslavia was not liberated by the Red Army, but from the Yugoslav partisans. This army was led by communists. In 1945 the leader of the Communist Resistance, Josip Broz Tito, took the control of the country. Tito was not a soviet trained Stalinist; instead he was an independent national leader who did not accept to do as the Moscow wish. This battle has lasted for many years as man and nature have lived together on this planet for centuries. The Hunting Snake talks about how nature can both be beautiful and glamorous and also be dangerous while Pike chooses to focus on how nature dominates over humans and definitely has a darker tone to it. The Hunting Snake tells the story of a couple that see an elegant yet dangerous snake cross in front of them. The couple is shown to be both amazed and terrified of the snake s presence. The theme of this poem is therefore based on man s vulnerability to nature and the way that creatures such as snakes represent a type of danger that is important to be respectful and mindful of. The astonishing results are he finds peace within himself to forgive himself for what has happened and move on, his love for music and the horn helped him to focus on something positive that would completely change his life around. He no longer lived in a state of depression and despair he was moving forward with life with a more positive attitude which lead to him felling worthy of honour. This has much on common with the first poem Setting up the Drum in that both of these texts the writers use instruments to show that one s life can change and one can become Enlighted and positive even from the darkest moments of their lives. • 33. The Tyger Poem Analysis This poem dramatizes the conflict between the divine perspective and the speaker s terrified human and morally affronted perspective. The theme of The Tyger is creation and the ability of divine figure to create evil. The poem mainly focuses on the beauty and ferociousness of creation in general and how we think we see the whole story. William Blake wrote this piece in the voice of a witness that watched the making of the so called Tyger and what it has become. This witness describes to the audience which is directed to society of what he/she sees in order to open their eyes to see the bigger picture. The poem is written in a rhythm of both trochaic and iambic meter where the author purposely changes the last line of each stanza in order to make that specific line stand out the most for the audience to notice. The Tyger is composed of six stanzas, each containing four lines, and is written with an AABB rhyme scheme. Many of the sentences are written as interrogative sentences as Blake asks several rhetorical questions. Also, the first and last stanzas are almost identical, with the exception of a single word, which emphasizes this text and at the end forces the reader to reevaluate these words after reading the rest of the poem. The author uses words such as fearful, dread, and deadly to draw an image for the reader that the creature is a beast capable of destruction. The first 2 lines begin with the repetition of the character ( Tyger, Tyger ). The repetition creates a chant like mood to the whole poem, which contributes to the mysteriousness. It quotes burning bright (1) which is an example of alliteration. This piece may describe the appearance of the Tyger as tigers have fiery orange fur, or it may on a deeper analyzation describe a kind of energy or power that this Tyger possesses. The Tyger s presence in the forests of the night (2) further increases the mystery and power of the creature it s mysterious, while at the same time burning with some sort of inner force. The speaker uses the symbolic character of a tiger as something so fearsome yet very beautiful. • 34. Analysis Of Sanford Meisner On Acting In his book Sanford Meisner On Acting, Meisner teaches students in his class the techniques needed in acting. The book is written in a way that is enjoyable to the reader because it is written in third person, where an observer writes about what occurred in the class among Meisner and his students. In the book, Meisner teaches the students about the importance of being genuine; they should stop pretending and they should stop being polite. They should rather just do what feels genuine to them. I liked that the book was written based on observed experiences and not just laying down the acting techniques for readers to follow. By reading about the experiences, I felt as though I was in the class with Meisner and this enabled me to understand the techniques better. The first things that caught my eye from the book are the principles Meisner gives his students. On the topic The Pinch and The Touch , he says, Don t do anything unless something makes you do it...what you do doesn t depend on you: it depends on the other fellow (Meisner 34). He goes further to illustrate the two principles by pinching John, one of his students, who reacts by shouting Mr. Meisner! The principles caught my eye because I have heard my acting professor constantly tell us the same thing. He always says that we should have an objective of why we are choosing to do a certain action and our actions should be driven by what our partner does or says. There are in turn several interconnected structural choices that are purposely done and have significant implications on the play s meaning. For instance, Ruhl meticulously and shrewdly contrasts significant climactic moments with trivial arguments and discussions. This is done in order to enhance the contrast between the mythic and mundane elements of the play, allow the characters to avoid emotion, and establish an untraditional structure that fails to move towards a climactic event. The Influence Of The Film Auteur According to the Oxford Dictionary of Film Studies, authorship is defined as an approach to film analysis and criticism that focuses on the ways in which the personal influence, individual sensibility, and artistic vision of a film s director might be identified in their work (Annette Kuhn and Guy Westwell 2012:25). The theory at the root of this concept, was first developed in France, in the 1950s, under the name of politique des auteurs, by director and critic François Truffaut, in his illustrious essay A Certain Tendency of the French Cinema (1954), originally published in Cahiers du Cinéma. However, the fundamental subjects of the oeuvre are no more than four. As Kieslowski himself declared: all my films, [...] are about individuals [...] who don t quite know how to live (1993:79). It is hence clear, that the theme of individuality is essential in the director s work. In fact, even though his pictures deal with highly debated issues such as death penalty and the universal values of liberty, equality and fraternity, they are only concerned with them on a very human, intimate and personal plane and not a philosophical [...] a political or social one (Kieslowski and Stok 1993:212). Indeed, the director s chief interests are the feelings and emotions of his characters, the exploration of their interiority and of their quest to find meaning in life, thus the melancholic contemplative mood of films such as Blue and Red. In line with the motif of individuality, is the theme of loneliness. All the protagonists of Kieslowski s pictures are alone and isolated, often because they have experienced an emotional trauma, such as abandonment as in A Short Film About Love or the loss of a loved one as in Blue. While talking about soldiers, I would like to talk about another western media s misconception i.e. Jihad. The ideas of war and violence have become related to the Islamic religion from the media.
