Writing an essay on the topic of "Term Papers and Essays" can be quite challenging for several
reasons. First and foremost, it requires a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter,
which involves delving into the intricacies of academic writing, research methodologies, and the
nuances of different types of papers. This demands a substantial amount of time and effort in

Filmore Furniture Case
Filmore Furniture Case
By: Hamaza Azam, Kavan Grewal, Deep Dave, Carl Ribeiro and Austin Mathews
Key Events:
Fred Filmore opened Filmore Furniture in 1970, a company that manufactures small
colonial furniture. After 13 years, he retired and sold his business to his son Phil
Filmore who was an aggressive manager, strategist and modernized in introducing
new product designs and new marketing skills. Phil owns 63% of the business,
shareholders own another 31%, and some employees account for the other 6%. His
marketing strategies and skills with his engineer Jean Lechaise brought business and
increased sales income to 5,100,000 in 1993. His annual salary amounted to 80,000
and he earned another $20,000 on dividends from shares. He died in a ... Show more

These suppliers have slightly more bargaining power because of the differentiation
between their work. However the need for these suppliers can be eliminated if
furniture manufacturers produce every piece of their products themselves. A
furniture manufacturer will only outsource production of parts if it proves to be cost
effective for their company. Since the price of materials is consistent market and the
outsourcing of production is unnecessary, suppliers have low bargaining power in the
furniture manufacturing industry.
Power of Substitutes VERY LOW
As previously stated the buyers in the furniture manufacturing industry are furniture
retailers. Therefore they will require furniture to continue business. There are no
substitutes that provide the same use as furniture. In relation to the furniture industry
as a whole, there are still very little substitutes to furniture aside from a higher use of
closet space or unorthodox measures by consumers. An example of this would be one
s choice to live without furniture, which in most cases is very unlikely. Furniture has
become a household necessity and consumers have little or no desire to change their
lifestyles by eliminating that need. Therefore the threat of substitutes to the furniture
manufacturing industry is very low to the point where it is almost non existent.

The Skeleton Owner s Gender, Ethnicity, Height, And Age
INTRODUCTION At 4 pm, in a certain park, 2 skeletons were found lying side by
side behind the bushes. It was concluded that the two were a couple because they
were holding hands whilst the skull was facing each other. A femur, pelvic girdles,
skulls, tibia, and humerus were taken from each of the skeleton and observations
were made to identify their gender, race, age, and height. One is a female, and the
other was a male, also the skeletons pretty much remained intact from being
undisturbed however, a few of the hand or feet bones can be found lying a little
further off perhaps due to the scattering of birds.
SUMMARY OF FINDINGS There were many factors that lead t the discovery of the
skeleton owner s gender, ethnicity, height, and age. ... Show more content on

Nevertheless, the unidentified person may have had malnutrition, which would lead
to stunted growth in certain areas that happened to not affect the humerus or femur.
Back to how the results came out, the students plugged the measurements into
certain formulas according to race and gender. By having these differences in
formula, it made it more accurate because each race and gender, due to genetics,
can make the height different. The age was 30 years and above. By observing
some of the skeletal structures, it was able to give an estimate. Places that were
inspected were the humerus, femur, and pelvis. It was especially the pelvis where
all segments of the sacrum are united with no evidence of epiphyseal unions that
gave away the fact that she was 30 years old plus. The others, like the femur and
humerus, would give a general age however the standards stopped at the age of 20;
the bone doesn t shift much past that unless its osteoporosis or something similar.
FURTHER ANALYSIS Facial reconstruction is used as a last resort to identify
remains by placing clay atop the skeleton in hopes of reconstructing what that person
may look like to get a possible identification. They would gather average tissue
thickness from the ethnicity, gender, and age (children, teens, and adults) and apply it
to the skull according to the correct gender,
Pandemic Death Monologue
Pandemic Death So It started when I was young about nine years of age and it was
early in the year 1350. It started a little like this, there was a knock on the door and
I got up to go see who it was. When I opened the door there was a man on his horse.
The man asked my parents were home, they were, so I said I could go and get
them. Once I had gotten my parents the man asked if they are willing to go on a
trip through the sea to Kwillining, London. They said they would, so they put in
there few overalls and dirty old jeans into a small waggon that are going to have to

The voice was booming, dark, and scary. They then suddenly I saw the door split in

rambling on about how everyone is dieing and that the world was going to end. I

The man then asked, I ve traveled a long way and i m so tired of seeing dead bodies

that it is an opportunity for assistance of students, it possesses more significance of
education than classroom education, and students can use this chance to realize the
importance of the social members. Another way, these homeless people can feel the
love of students under the education. It s not only school can earn a useful experience

Observation On A Restaurant
On October 15, 2017 at approximately 10 AM, I woke up to go to Freddie s
Restaurant to start my observations. It was a nice morning, about 50 degrees and
sunny with a slight breeze. I hopped into my Chevy truck to head to the restaurant.
There were cars zipping around the town because church had just gotten let out, and
families were going to get food somewhere.
Through my personal experiences, I know that Freddie s is a popular place to go on
a Sunday. The owner s daughter, Stephanie Cannon, is my middle brother s girlfriend
(also my broker), and she worked at the restaurant on its busiest days. She
explained to me that many families enjoy gathering at Freddie s for a traditional
breakfast after their church service is finished. She also noted that Freddie s offers
some of the best food for a great price. On certain Sundays, there is a breakfast
buffet that is extremely popular, and there s a wide variety of food offered at those
buffets. I also know the owners, Mark and Sue Cannon, very well because they are
obviously Stephanie s parents. Our families have been very close ever since I was
a little kid, and we ve eaten at Freddie s many times. During the summer when my
brother and Steph are home, we eat there occasionally. It s nice because we don t
even have to pay.
I had to pick up my brother, Derek, and Steph from her house because they wanted
to go to breakfast while I observed. We arrived at the restaurant, and there were a lot
of cars parked outside the restaurant.
Wizard Of Oz Analysis
Wizard of Oz was directed by Victor Flemming, George Cukor, King Vidor and
come from the novel that written by L. Frank Baum (story), Noel Langley,
Florence Ryerson and Edgar Allan Woolf (screenplay). The film was produced by
Mervyn LeRoy, Arthur Freed (MGM). After 75 years, it s hard to say that the film
is just a film. It has been transformed from mild box office showing to must see
annual TV event to timeless pop culture legend. This film was first brought it into
our households on November 3, 1956. Its legacy still remains today. There were
many different scenes and characters throughout the film. Characters in the movie
trust Dorothy instantly. She is a caring person who is hard to dislike because
Dorothy Gale is the main character in The Wizard of Oz. She lives in the Kansas with
her Uncle Henry, who was a farmer, and Aunt Em, who was the farmer s wife.
Dorothy has a dog named Toto who is her closest friend and makes her laugh. After
the tornado carries her to the land of Oz, all she wants to do is get home to Kansas.
Dorothy compassionate to the Scarecrow and Tinman. Dorothy shows courage when
the Lion tries to bite Toto. She doesn t want to kill the Wicked Witch of the West,
even if it is the only way she can get home to Kansas again.
The film originated from the beloved children s book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

This also includes boat patrol of all state and boundary waters, and patrol of many
state properties. We work weekends. We work alone at night, in the rural areas of
Indiana, often without the convenience of a backup law enforcement officer. We
patrol on the water in watercraft, recover drowning victims. We work in the various

Compassion Fatigue Analysis

In module one, I found Eric Scalise s lecture on Managing the High Cost Care very
helpful, particularly when he discussed Compassion Fatigue. Compassion Fatigue,
also referred to as secondary or vicarious trauma, is when is when a person has not
experienced a traumatic event directly but are around individuals who have so
frequently that they, themselves, are impacted emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and

event happening to others.

reasons for suffering, but I don t know how many of us has actually pulled various

reasons but in one context. For me, this was extremely helpful to solidify my own
theology of suffering (as Dr. Hawkins suggests). In this lecture, Hawkins briefly
discusses the following examples and possible reasons for suffering we can see in
Analysis Of My Neighbor Totoro
The way Hayao Miyazaki entices his viewers to accept his idea about a new
relationship between nature and humanity was never really talked about or discussed
in the past couple of years. The film My Neighbor Totoro, with all the religious
elements and the social impact it had established the director Miyazaki as one of the
best animators not just in Japan, but around the world. What really gives this film
power and fame is not just the mysterious and magical world it has or the cute
character that Miyazaki created, but also the film s way of influencing the audience
by conveying an unfamiliar message about this three layered relationship between
nature and humans. Comparing both Miyazaki s childhood memories and the story
depicted helps him connect the audience s feelings with the characters and making
this realistic representation of humanemotion in the film believable and realistic not
only to children, but even to adults. What also makes the world more familiar to
the spectators is the director s use of a common fear from many people s early
years in this unknown and magical world. This common fear is clearly illustrated
when the girls meet Susuwatari, a black spirit in the old empty house that stays in
dark spaces and prefers to be left alone, and only children can see it. The
introduction of this spirit is a good transition between the world of magic and reality.
It confirms and insists about the existence of the unknown, and introduces a world of
illusion and

assigned employees to build a network and cooperation with them. Thus, Amber
Briggs could have gained more support in the first meeting. Like Southwest Airlines,
Kerzner s new CEO Justin Tubbs wanted to build better relationship with employees.
Unlike Kerzner, Southwest even during tough external market maintained high

illegal when it is so frequent or severe that it creates a hostile or offensive work

Organizational Analysis: The top managers of Bass Pro Shops are reluctant to apply

The Landlady Compare And Contrast Essay
Feeling hot and scared, you don t know what is going on with your body. You feel
as if you are suffocating. Then, you remember something that seems very irrelevent,
a cup of tea. Screenwriters change small details around. They do this to give their
own twist to a story. This happens in the short story The Landlady by Roald Dahl
and the episode version from Tales of the Unexpected. There are many similarities
between the short storyversion and the episode. One similarity is the sign placed
outside the landlady s home. The bed and breakfast sign caught Billy eye in the
story. It caught his eye in the episode as well. Billy is walking along the street
when the sign just randomly catches his eye and allures him into the landlady s
house. The screenwriter kept this part the same because it is important. It is
important, for it sets up the next part of the story. It sets up the setting. Furthermore,
Billy is also poisoned by cyanide in both the story and the episode. Billy is offered
tea. Even though he did not like it, Billy acted with decorum and drank... Show more

In the short story by Roald Dahl, Billy is seventeen years old. This is untrue for the
episode. Billy is eighteen in the episode. The screenwriter probably believed that
seventeen years old would not be old enough to start working for a company in the
time his episode was made, so he changed Billy from seventeen to eighteen which
is old enough to work. Moreover, Billy shows signs of being poisoned in only the
episode. Billy in the story just mentioned that the tea tasted of bitter almonds and is
otherwise unphased in the first few minutes. Billy in the episode however, is
actually breathing heavily and feeling as if he is being choked to death. The
screenwriter alters the plot because he knows that cyanide is supposed to kill fairly
quickly so the screenwriter changed that detail so Billy would show signs of being
poisoned
Christine Macleod s Essay
In Christine Macleod s essay, The Politics of Gender, Language and Hierarchy in
Mamet s Oleanna , she uses an approach that differs from the common belief by
critics that David Mamet comments about political correctness in his play titled,
Oleanna . Through the analysis of the play along with numerous sources, Macleod
argues her idea that the spectators of the play seem to dwell on the antagonist s
Carol s advantage over the protagonist, John, as a result of her gender. In fact,
Macleod argues that it is Carol s struggle for power that truly highlights her in a
negative light and is the true engagement within the play. Despite holding a
viewpoint which deeply contrasts the standard belief by viewers that Mamet s
Oleanna deals with gender, Christine Macleod proves with solid arguments in her
essay that David Mamet calls for more attention to hierarchy and language, and uses
other factors as an addition to the plot which simply blurs everything else; this is
evidently a flawed statement as Macleod fails to realize her... Show more content on

Christine Macleod begins her essay with a vague abstract that looks at the
viewpoints of different critics and scholars all of whom side with the idea that
Oleanna focuses predominantly on the struggle between genders, feminist concerns,
and Mamet s own take on his play. For example, she even goes as far to state that,
male directors have managed to find or fashion anti feminist bias in the play (201).
She examines how since its release, Oleanna and Mamet have been subject to major
criticism, as the critics themselves have distorted the subtleties of the dramatic action
by representing the play as a mere fussilade in the so called war between the sexes
(200). Ultimately, Macleod brings closure to her initial ambiguous viewpoint through
her thesis by stating, the narrow critical preoccupation with sexual harassment,

Lady Macbeth Abusive Quotes
One interpretation of the text is that Lady Macbeth and Macbeth s relationship is
not adherently abusive as she is seen as pushing Macbeth so he can strive to be his
best self. For example in Macbeth, Lady Macbeth gives a soliloquy after opening
Macbeth s letter, where she proclaims, thy nature; it is too full o th milk of human
kindness. (1.5.4). In the context of a non abusive relationship, the quote relays the
message that Lady Macbethwould help Macbeth to become the king of Scotland as
he wants to receive the crown fairly. That because Lady Macbeth wants to help her
husband she s portrayed as a loving wife which negates any possible in the
relationship. In addition, Macbeth needs the encouragement to pursue the crown by

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of ISDN
ISDN
ISDN means integrated services digital network.
Defenation
It is just a communicational standard used for transmitting video and data digital
telephone lines or normal telephone wires. This standard support data transfer rates
of 64 kbps. It is the initial high speed internet service. [1]
ISDN internet service is simply a telephone based network system that operates by a

digitally over normal telephone wires. This makes it both faster and of higher quality
than dial up internet service.[2]

Advantages of ISDN Lines:[7]
1.The primary advantage of ISDN line is it is a Digital Line and hence the voice
quality is preferable to analog circuits.
2.The ISDN line can carry voice , data , video and fax information in exactly the
same line.
3.Each ISDN line can provide a bandwidth of 128 Kbps both in the upstream direction
in addition to the downstream direction this feature enables it to carry video
communications in realtime at both ends.
4.Since ISDN is a routine switched network, there is little if any data loss while
transmitting data (In packet switched networks, there is some data loss across the
propagation path and hence information must be re transmitted, sometimes).
5.Trouble shooting a Digital Network now is easier than trouble shooting analog
circuits. Faults could be rectified faster and the network performance is very reliable
and predictable.
6.When compared to ADSL, ISDN BRI can travel for longer distances and hence
suited to remote Access to the internet.
7.With ISDN, the call set and up tear down is faster than analog
The Structural Frame Model Of An Organization
The Structural Frame Twenty first century societies could be characterized as the
modern humanity with Cutting edge technology and multiculturalism, with extreme
materialism and economical drive. As a result, any modern organization, regardless
of its size, type or nature, has to depend upon the factual structures and best
management paths to survive in today s civilization. Lee G.Bolman and Terrence F.
Deal s (2013) book Reframing Organizations presents most updated and developed
managerial approaches to leadership and structurefor the organizations.
L.G. Bolman and T.F. Deal s (2013) bestseller provides four frame model of an
organization, which incorporates the structural, human resources, political and the
symbolic forms.
However, on account of organization s structure, policies, particular roles and
environments, each body of the four frame model has its own origin and rooted in
specific aspects. Although, logically connected every singular frame holds particular
outlooks, accountability and influence. The first construction of the four frame model
is structural frame and allegorically being addressed as the machine of the
organization. In existence of any establishment the structural frame is presumably the
most essential from four frame model and concentrates on the uniqueness and
singularity of each institution, the structure cannot be the same for every
organization. Therefore, the structural frames have to be compatible with needs and
Hitler s Hidden Drug Habit (Morell)
From 1939 to 1945, Hitler took drugs to cope with daily life. Now, Morell was the
person who first introduced the drugs to Hitler though it doesn t excuse Hitler
from his later actions. This was to help with Hitler s health problems and the
amount of stress he was under. Firstly, Morell was the main person of giving Hitler
drugs. In the documentary, Hitler s Hidden Drug Habit , it explains how Morell
became Hitler s physician. When Morell joined the Nazi Party, he heard gossip
from the Nazi elite. It was from them that Morell learned that Hitler was suffering
from stomach cramps. This was due to Hitler being a particular kind of vegetarian.
He loved beans, though they re not great for the stomach, and he d have them
mashed up because his teeth were in bad shape. In 1936, Morell used one of his
Nazi clients to introduce him to the FГјhrer, and there, he... Show more content on

After World War II, the US military intelligence interviewed some of Hitler s
entourage, they said that Morell was a quack ( Hitler s Hidden 9:50). Those same
people also said that Morell shouldn t have practicing medicine anywhere outside a
veterinary clinic. Since Morell was appointed to be Hitler s personal physician,
after curing Hitler of his cramps, that did annoy Hitler s inner circle (Bletchly and
Killelea). They did have a good cause to be annoyed because it was later found that
Morell s drug cabinet had a gun cleaning oil which was banned from human
consumption as well as flatulence pills that were made from strychnine or rat
poison. However, Morell wasn t a quack and that he was a qualified physician

Impact Of Globalization On The Economy
Introduction Globalisation is the process in which economies from around the world
become linked through financial integration. Indonesia is located in South East Asia
and is emerging into the global economy as an economic powerhouse. Globalisation
has had profound impacts on the Indonesian economy and has sparked great change
within it. The essence of globalisation means that all economic activity effects and
impacts on other economies, e.g. the GFC in America effected all economies
throughout the world. To develop its economy, Indonesia has had to make use of
macroeconomic policies and trading blocs. During this process, Indonesia has reeked
many advantages associated with globalisation, however it has also felt negative
effects from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Figure 1. Quality of life Despite the obvious economic growth being experienced
in Indonesia, the quality for life still remains sub par, with around 12% of
Indonesians still living in poverty. As Indonesia becomes a more prominent figure
in the globalisation, it seems that its GDP becomes less evenly spread, as the
majority of its wealth is gained through exporting which is then shared among only
a select few. Indonesia s uneven distribution of income reflects its HDI of around
0.68, with an income of 3,475.25 USD per capita and with only 75% of Indonesia
s population having access to electricity. This considers the education levels of
Indonesians which is very low, with an average of 5.8 years of schooling per
person and an average female population with secondary education or greater of
36% and 46% for males. Figure2 Shows the increasing rates of education in
Indonesia which are relatively low in comparison to other countries. This reflects the
workforce of Indonesia which is predominately involved in production and
agriculture which are labour intensive and not tertiary or specialised jobs which
require a good education. Figure 2. Employment Due to the increased international
demand for the Indonesian exports derived from the forces of globalisation, the
Indonesian workforce has increased considerably to fill the void of demands. The

The Structural Strain Theory Has Occurred
When socially accepted goals cannot be reached through legitimate means, the
structural strain theory has occurred. A mismatch that occurs between legitimate
means and socially promoted goals has a typology of responses in the strain theory.
Merton s typology extends the functionalist perspective. He believed that larger
deviancy rates were because of social conditions and the varying responses. One of
the responses to social strain that accepts legitimate means of pursuing socially
promoted goals is conformity. Another response to social strain is ritualism. People
reject or give up the socially approved goal, but continue pursuing other goals
through the same legitimate means (MindEdge, 2015).

College is time consuming. You must make time out for your class study and

that you will get into a good college. I was also told that getting good grades in
college, will get you the degree you are seeking and you should be able to get a job

Sharia Law In The United States
Religion is a belief, interest, pursuit or worship in a being or a superhuman
controlling power, such as a personal God or gods. Although, every religion has its
own set of rules and laws in which the believers follow. The first amendment of the
U.S. Constitution protects the religious rights as it declares that the government
cannot infringe upon laws pertaining to the freedom of religion, speech, press, and
peaceful assembly of the people . This grants freedom for Muslims, Jews,
Christians, Buddhas and etc to freely practice his or her preferred religion under
their own terms in America. Being said, Islamic groups have all rights to exercise
their religion. However, putting another law, such as Sharia Law, above the law of

The Islamic people follow the Sharia Law, which is a range of rules which governs
their lives, including finance, religion, daily living, and even violence . The issue
with the Sharia Law is that it is based off of religion, whereas the American
government does not. However, not every Islamic individual interprets the law in the
same way. In many western communities, Muslims who want their religious concepts
to be recognized must obtain a state license and the concepts must strictly conform to
the state requirements. Even though, there are only a few who actually get their
license. Even still, there are usually no more than a few hundred Muslims residing in
the same community that performs their religious duties. The Religious Freedom
Restoration Act, a recent bill passed in states such as Indiana, Arizona and West
Virginia, extended the religious freedoms of individuals who are involved in
litigation with the state or each other. As more states ratified the bill, rumors spread
that it granted outsider laws the privilege in America. In order for an entire
community to be ruled under another law, it must be executed in the law of the
constitution and the American government can not legally approve

Oedipus Rex
Oedipus Rex Conflict, Climax, Resolution
Sophocles tragic drama, Oedipus Rex, sees the conflict develop and reach a climax,
and this is followed by a catastrophe and resolution of the conflict.
E. T. Owen in Drama in Sophocles Oedipus Tyrannus describes the climaxof the
drama:
The central scenes contain the heart of the drama, that for which the rest exists the
drama of the revelation. The poet s task here is to make its effect adequate to the
expectation. He manages to spin it out to nearly 500 lines, and, instead of thinning,
increases the excitement by spreading it out; it becomes a threefold revelation rising
to a climax (36).
Thus it is that Owen sees the conflict escalating ... Show more content on

Thomas Van Nortwick in The Meaning of a Masculine Life describes Oedipustragic
flaw:
As ruler, he is a father to Thebes and its citizens, and like a father he will take care
of his children. We see already the supreme self confidence and ease of command
in Oedipus, who can address not only other people s children as his own, but also
be a father to men older than he is. But beyond even this there is, in the wretched
posture of the citizens, the hint of prostration before a deity. We are clinging to your
altars, says the priest. . . . That he also exudes a godlike mastery in the eyes of his
subjects only strengthens the heroic portrait. . . .(21 22).
The godlike mastery to which Van Nortwick refers is the same mastery which Creon
in his final lines designates as the cause of the tragic dimension in the life of the
protagonist: Crave not mastery in all, /For the mastery that raised thee was thy bane
and wrought thy fall. Oedipus total mastery of the investigation resultant from the
Delphic oracle s declaration, yes, his forceful pursuit of the investigation against the
wishes of Jocasta, Teiresias, the messenger and the shepherd, ultimately spells the
downfall of King Oedipus.
Abrams says that the conflict is between the protagonist and antagonist (225). Is the
antagonist within Oedipus in the form of his godlike mastery, as Creon believed? Or
is the antagonist weird/wyrd/fate, so that the oracle

Creating Change within Organizations HCS587

The Concord Bookshop is a small town bookstore with a 64 year history and a
cultural appeal enjoyed by the citizens of the town. In recent years the economic
environment created fierce competition for the bookstore, coupled with a need for
innovative technology meant a need for restructuring. The financial status of the
bookshop was in grave distress. Fearing financial ruin the board members made a
unanimous decision to implement significant changes. However, the board did not

Behaviour Change Change can be successful if a company or group within the
organization changes the way an individual presents oneself (Spector, 2010).
Behavior change is based on how an individual works within the environment. The
employees of Concord Bookshop were not consulted therefore did not have an
opportunity to verbalize their concerns or provide input to assist the company to
move the bookstore in a new direction. The management team was aware of the
financial distress and was willing to participate in any financial changes required.
The employees of the bookstore had an abundance of knowledge and experience that
may have contributed to ending financial turmoil (Schein, 2011). Open dialogue
between the employees and owners may have facilitated the development and
collaboration of new ideas in a competitive environment. The new strategies could
have provided a new direction for the bookstore. According to Burnes, in discussing
Kurt Lewin s Change Model, for change to be effective within a group there has to be
a collective approach by each member of the group (2004).
Conclusion
The Concord Bookshop was a well respected historical bookstore facing financial
challenges. While the bookstore employed knowledgeable and dedicated employees,
the owners and board members did not engage
Artemis Corruption Theme
The purpose of my poster is to persuade children aged 12 and over to read Artemis

evident in the graphic novel. I have used many techniques to convey the theme of evil
in the book.
Colour has been used in my poster to create a dark and wicked setting. The black
and red in the image of Artemis shows how he is capable of doing such evil. His
body is outlined with a red glow to enhance his power. I have also purposely made
his face dark and unidentified to show his mysterious and deceiving character. The
grey tones in the background express the darkness and mystery that is displayed in
the graphic novel. The heading is outlined with red to make the theme clear and
The Mower s Song
Andrew Marvell s The Mower s Song exposes the envious and jealous side of
human nature and seems to echo the saying, misery loves company. The poem is
set in a lush meadow, and takes the reader through the emotional stages of the
lovelorn mower of the meadow. The mower has a blossoming new affection for
Juliana. The mower sees a likeness between his blossoming affection and the
blossoming of the fresh meadow, and is comparing his relationship with Juliana to
the meadow. The speaker begins by telling the reader that his mind was once a
reflection of the beautiful meadow he cares for. In the beginning, the meadow is
green and full of hope, just as the mower has hopes of a love affair with Juliana.

the Mower. (the last of the mower poems) An exact inspiration for the poems is
unknown. Marvell spent years as a member of parliament for Kingston upon Hull
for twenty years. (google scholar) Perhaps the poems were a means of escape for
Marvell, an artistic retreat to vibrant meadows, providing Marvell a break from the
mundane life of a Parliament politician. Marvell seems to have led a relatively
private personal life. In his article Detached Commitment Paul Deen writes that
Marvell seems more interested with the potential for love than its realization, no
doubt because no commitment is involved at this stage. This recurring theme could
be a reflection of Marvell himself, maybe Marvell was a bit detached, which would
explain the absence of an active personal life. (detached commitment) Another
speculated theory for the theme of the poem is the comparison of the mower and
Orpheus, in George Klawitter s essay, Marvell s Damon The Mower as Orpheus.
Though Orpheus journeys to the underworld and defeats Hades his wife still vanishes

over the reaction by critics and others to the film when it first appeared. An
oversimplification of this movie is to say it is about normal people doing their
job, which would be picking up and delivering mail overnight. Beneath what would
seem to most people as a normal job from today s standards, is that the film dives
into what it was like for the working class at the General Post Office. This
documentary shows us the pride that was once had in the industry of postal service,
which has become simplified with technology such as drone deliverer and air/sea
travel. During the 1930 s few people understood what it took for mail to be
delivered on time, countless people had to work many late hours into the night, so
our letters could be received in a timely fashion. Night Mailshows us the technology
and steps by which it took many people working together. We will never forget the
old Britain that once was because of films like this. Let us start with one of the main
subjects of this documentary which would be the train involved and the route taken.

was just us women and children, the men had gone ahead and scouted out the area.
We could still just barely see the ship on the horizon, fading into the distance. None
of us dared to more for fear of losing sight of it, so we stood there, and did not move
until none of us could see it. Then we stood some more, and waited until the men
came back saying it was all clear. We all turned around at the same time and didn t

significant to understand about the latent trait theory. His character is represented
in a destructive light toward the start of the film. He is extremely disrespectful to

sample of his behavior would be on carter s first day. Once five minutes of Carter

be used to explain about Timo s situations from his early life, why he
Age Related Hearing Loss
Presbycusis The human body in itself is an incredible masterpiece, but particularly
how we as humans hear and perceive sound is amazing. Our ears are used in
various aspects of life including enjoying music, following directions, and just its
use in everyday conversation. As we grow older our hearing abilities tend to
decline which can be a natural part of the aging process. Hearing loss that is
associated with older age is known as presbycusis (Huang, Q., Tang, J. , 2010).
There are more people that suffer hearing loss in their later years due to increased
life expectancy (ŠESTIĆ, M. R., MILIĆEVIĆ, S. (2013). As Frisina wrote, in
association with the recent expansion of the aged segment of our populace, age

The primary reason could be that they are unaware of the extent of the hearing loss
that they have. According to research conducted in both the United States and
Australia, the average elderly person waits 6 10 years before the go and receive help
(ŠESTIĆ, M. R., MILIĆEVIĆ, S. (2013). That is a substantial amount of time
where their ability to communicate effectively has been affected negatively affected
and the degree of loss most likely has worsened. In addition to delaying treatment,
the majority of those who are diagnosed choose to not wear their hearing aids
(Г–berg, M. 2015). In a separate study, the participants who had a range of ages
from 55 80 were asked how often they would use their hearing aid. The answers
given were then organized into three categories, Always, when I need them , or
doubtful on when to use it The results were, the most common answer of the oldest
participants was doubtful about when to use it. Typical comments from those who
were doubtful included I will try to use them, and I hope I could get used to them
(Г–berg, M. 2015). The age range for the oldest group was 76 to 80. This
demonstrates that the older that someone is who has the loss, the less likely they are

Shakespeare s Authorship
The argument of Shakespeare s authorship will always be argued and never settled.
Shakespeare went to school, but some believed that he did not stay in school long.
His education is one of the main topics for both sides of this argument. Shakespeare
s schooling may have helped some but not enough to create a new kind of literature
and produce some of the most famous pieces of literature in history to this day.
Although some believe Shakespeare went to school, his work is too complex and he
did not travel far enough to write all these great plays. Some believe that
Shakespeare adapted from older works and what he lacked in experience he could
have made up for in imagination (Farouky). Shakespeare would not have needed
much education
Evaluation Of The Video Discussion
This was a very interesting simulation. As mentioned in the Flipchat video
discussion, I have done several other simulations during my undergrad schooling.
Compared to this simulation they were based in the financial realm focused on
stocks and bonds. However, they all share a similar aspect in regards that their
ultimate goal to maximize profit. Ultimately I ended up doing three different runs
through the simulation that each had unique results. My best results showed a profit
of $37.5 million and a market share of just under 50% for the state of Florida.
During my first run through of the simulations I had simple strategy which was to
mimic the prices of the competition. I matched the prices of competitor for both
weekend and weekday... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, at the same time I believed that because there was only a little gap in
market share, the reputation of Universal was greater than its competition and the
price difference was the reason for the market share gap. Therefore, I lowered the
prices to be comparative to the competitor and my theory was correct and the market
share flipped and Universal gained more as the months progressed. This process is
what I would implement on a larger scale in my second simulation run.
Throughout my second run in the simulation I altered my strategy to have my prices
lower then competition and it backfired greatly on me. My thought process for this
was that having lower prices would definitely raise market share as consumers
would chose the cheaper costs. At the same time I envisioned the drop in prices
would result in more consumers switching companies and renting from Universal,
but I was wrong. The results of this simulation ended with a loss of over $11
million but a market share of over 50%. My error for this simulation was that I
relied too much on lowering prices. In the first simulation the last three months were
the competition increased their prices and there were no change to universal resulted

Arguments For Drug Reform Essay
The argument over drug reform and the current prohibition has been going on for
years. It seems to be an argument between a wise parent and a young teenager, but as
generations change more and more of the parents seem to switch sides. While
prohibitionists say the mainstream drugs like cocaine, heroin, LSD, and marijuana
are harmful and immoral, legalizers argue the opposite (Rachels 223). While they are
both valid and interesting arguments the drugs named above still remain illegal.
Many organizations and respected citizens have come to America s attention in their
support for drugreform or complete legalization of certain drugs. These people range
from normal citizens who support the recreational use of marijuana to judges and ex
law... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some prohibitionists just believe that drugs are immoral. An extremely outspoken
opponent of decriminalizing drugs is William J. Bennett who said, Law
enforcement is not a political option or a policy question; it is a moral imperative
(Gottfried 76). Prohibitionists also believe if drugs were made legal they would be
cheaper and more readily available and they are afraid that children could be at risk
(Gottfried 77).
Citizens who are for the reform of marijuana or any drug have obvious opposite
feelings towards the previous statements. First of all citizens for drug reform state
that although marijuana causes adverse health effects so do many other activities
that are perfectly legal. Should the government outlaw alcohol, tobacco, and
having unprotected and promiscuous sex (Rachels 224)? Also, the claim that
drugs cause harm to family and friends can be rebutted with the fact that people are
harmful to family and friends without the influence of drugs (Rachels 228 229).
Alcohol is a completely legal drug and many people are killed in car accidents
involving drunk drivers, yet alcohol is still not outlawed. In no way am I condoning
driving under the influence, but it is a thought provoking argument. A great
argument made by supporters of drug reform is a question posed by Michael
Huemer. He says is it unjust for the state to punish people without having a good
reason for doing so? (Rachels 229). With valid
Minorities In The Movie Crash
There is no denying that the criminal justice system is downright corrupt, unjust, and
powerful. By corrupt, the criminal justice system degrades the power it possesses to
perform in its out most potential. By unjust, the criminal justice system disposes of
equal treatment and exhibits discrimination of individuals of society. By powerful,
the criminal justice system utilizes discretion and fear to respond to situations that
entail the lives of racial minorities. These ideas extend to a much greater problem
which is the disposition on minorities. There is the majority group, also known as
the dominant group, and there are the minority groups, also known as the
subordinate group. The dominant group have power either politically or
economically. The subordinate group have less power and are mostly comprised of

The people of a minority group who are at a greater risk of being subjected to the
criminal justice system are the African Americans and Hispanics. It is not surprising
these two groups are more prone, yet throughout the remainder of this paper, certain
concepts/themes will be further analyzed from a chosen film to portray the reality
minorities face with and in the criminal justice system and society. The criminal
justice system, in regards to the film Crash, was reflected in such a way that is
understood in today s system. For example, police officers were quick to perceive
African Americans as wrongful doing. The process of interrogation came down to
force and inappropriate handling of an African American woman. Such stop and frisk
resulted in degrading the dignity of both African American persons stopped by the
White officers and the bad conduct performed by the older White officer was not
reported by any of the individuals leading to discretion from all especially discretion
from the White officer s partner. Discretion has been evident in many situations and
particularly dependent upon the

Introduction
In the study of climatology, there can be distinguished between natural climate
variability and anthropogenic climate change. According to the Parliament of

It is natural factors leading to the variability in climate. According to BrГ©on et.al
(2013:894) processes within the climate system is caused by internal variation in
climate. These processes are usually measured in decadal to centennial time scales.
Climate variability can be caused externally, internally, naturally or by humans. Thus
is natural climate variability the variation of the earth s climate caused by natural
factors.
The best examples of natural climate variability are the El NiГ±o and La NiГ±a
phenomenon s.
According to the Australian Government (2012:2) El NiГ±o and La NiГ±a arise
when the normal state of the atmosphere and the Pacific Ocean changes for a few
seasons. According to this source El NiГ±o is when the eastern and central tropical
Pacific warms up, and La NiГ±a is the cooling of these same areas. These two
phenomenon s have a distinct impact on the rainfall patterns and climate of the
world. A good example is when South Africa suffered severe drought during 2016
when an El NiГ±o was present.
1.2Causes of Natural Climate Variability
In the previous paragraph there was looked at a more extensive definition of natural
climate variability. Next the causes of natural climate variability will be given.
According to the Government of Canada (2015) the causes of natural climate
variability can vary between
Causality And Correlation Essay
Lets start this discussion by explaining what correlation and causation/causality are.
Correlation also known as association is the simultaneous variation in two variables.
Causality is different in that it is the notion that a change in one factor results in a
corresponding change in another. Lets use an example to better understand
correlation and causality. The book uses the example of income and healthin regards
to correlation. People that have a higher household income enjoy the perks of better
healthcare which means these people are in better health. The opposite being
people that have a lower income do not enjoy the perks of healthcare and
essentially have poorer health. Using this example you can see how income and
health are working together simultaneously. As one factor variates, the other variates
the same way. In regards to causation lets use the example of people s height.
Causation is essentially cause and effect. When two tall people have offspring the
child will most likely be tall. The cause us the two people having a child and the...

This is not one thing changing and the other following rather this is one aspect
being the cause and the other being the effect. Tall parents, tall child; this is cause
and effect or causality to a T. There is another example that will further help
explain causality versus correlation. The example follows the parents and child
situation. People see a nice and respectful child and they automatically think the
parents did a great job raising the child. A effecting B. What if the child actually
influenced the parents. To further explain what if the parents ere mean and un kind
people however they had a child who learned differently and actually changed who
the parents were. This is referred to as revere causality. Instead of A the parents
effecting B the child, rather B effects A. This is cause and effect of personalities.

Research Paper On Windshield Wipers
How often should you change your car s windshield wipers? It s a question most
drivers have asked at some point while owning a car, and one the professional auto
glass experts at A Precision Auto Glass in Daphne, AL, hear often. Windshield
wipers clear windshields of rain, snow, and other debris to allow drivers to see in
certain conditions, but rain, snow, and ice can also wear down the rubber on your
wipers over time, causing them to loose their effectiveness. Most auto specialists,
including A Precision Auto Glass, agree that windshield wipers should be replaced
every six months, or twice a year. Ideally, they should be replaced in the spring and
in the fall because of severe weather common in winter and summer. Windshield

St. Benedict Of Nursia Research Paper
Saint Benedict of Nursia was born on March 2, 480 A.D. in Norcia, Italy (World
Religions: Belief, Culture, and Controversy, St. Benedict of Nursia). Saint
Benedict of Nursia was the founder of the Benedictine rule. Even when everyone
surrounding him in his monastery had decided to sin, Saint Benedict stayed loyal
to God and did not sin. St. Benedict of Nursia was always a great example for all
Christians and everyone living in his community throughout his early life and his
public life. St. Benedict of Nursia was always a devout Catholic in his early life.
When he was 20, he decided he wanted to live in complete solitude after many
interactions with his community (Saint Benedict of Nursia, EWTN). St. Benedict left

Benedict s many acts of healing and his leadership helped him to be canonized a
saint in the year 1964. He also became the patron saint of Europe (World Religions:
Belief, Culture, and Controversy, St. Benedict of Nursia). When I was in class and
my teacher was reading the story of St. Benedict of Nursia I was very interested.
The part that had caught my attention was, when everyone surrounding St. Benedict
in the monastery had turned their backs on God St. Benedict did not. All of the
other monks had began to sin, but instead of sinning like the other monks St.
Benedict decided not to sin and leave the monastery instead. When St. Benedict did
this it showed me how much strength he had and how much faith he had in God.
Even when my friends make a decision I do not agree with I may find it hard to

Essay on Public vs. Private Education
Public vs. Private Education
I have examined and compared public versus private education. Also, this collection
of information should help you understand differences between public and private
schools. Aspects of equality and achievement in private and public education will be
dissected and evaluated.
Observations
I have evaluated and examined both public and private education instittutional
systems.
Public Education
Public schools are in crisis, and not because of any shortages of public funds (more
money is spent on public education than ever before, but with declining results).
Many people like to think the problem with our schools is precisely that they are
public: Government schools are run like the rest of ... Show more content on

The public s preference for the public schools would seem to be related to its positive
assessment of those schools. Although respondents continued to desire improvement,
they are generally pleased with their schools. Forty nine percent assigned the public
schools in the community a grade of A or B.
Problems facing the public schools. The general satisfaction with the public
schools should not cause one to lose sight of the fact that the public wants those
schools improved. It would be logical for such improvement to focus on areas in
which problems exist. Down through the years, the public has been consistent in
the area which shows lack of discipline. Other points of either drug abuse, lack of
financial support, or lack of discipline has topped the list. This year, lack of
discipline is identified as the top problem. Fighting/violence/gangs follows at high on
the list and lack of financial support/funding/money is also an issue. Teachers and
classroom sizes are recognized as a ongoing problem in public education.
Improvement strategies. How would the public improve its schools? The public
continues to support zero tolerance policies with regard to drugs and alcohol Many
people believe that violation of these policies should lead to automatic suspension.

The Fuzzy Logic System
Artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques provide a qualitative as well
as quantitative assessment of the power system.
1. Fuzzy Logic: The Fuzzy logic system (FLS) is a logic system which represents
reasons and knowledge in a fuzzy manner for reasoning under uncertainty or
describes in imprecise manner for human interpretation. Not like Boolean logic and
classic logic which assumes that entire fact is either true or false, but fuzzy logic
allows Boolean logic to tackle with vague and imprecise expressions of human
understanding. Not like the classic logic systems, it models the reasoning for
imprecision model that plays important role in ability of human knowledge to
understand an estimated or inexact answer for a question which is based on store of
knowledge which is approximate, not complete or totally unreliable. It is the best

The Tragic Hero Of Euripides Greek Literature
In Greek literature, tragedies tend to have a traditional format: a tragic hero,
reversal of fortune due to a tragic flaw, moment of recognition, and catharsis. In
order to be considered a tragic hero, the character must be born noble, is usually a
ruler, and has a tragic flaw which causes peripety. Typically, the hero s realization of
self inflicted doom is what allows a release of emotions. This raises a question of
who the tragic herois in Medea. The tragic hero is thought to be Jason, however there
is an argument that he has no realization that his demise is due to his own flaw
which does not allow catharsis. In Euripides greek play, the audience experiences
catharsis as they watch the secondary characters, Medea, Creusa, and Jason and
Medea s sons suffer as a result of Jason s hamartia; striving for power. These
secondary characters experience the true suffering and therefore they are what
allow the reader to reach catharsis. In the beginning of the text, Jason abandons
Medea for another woman. Medea feels an overwhelming sense of heartbreak and
anger because she not only loved Jason but she did everything for him; she went
against her father, ran away from her home, killed her brother, and helped him
succeed on his journeys according to the readings of Edith Hamilton s The Quest
of the Golden Fleece. Medea also makes is clear how she was a loving and
providing wife to him and definitely not deserving of abandonment. And I have loved
him and borne him sons;
Canada s Parliamentary System Essay
On July 1st, 1867, Canada confederated into a nation and committed to uphold
democracy From Sea to Sea . As stated in the Constitution of our nation, Canada
would be governed through a Parliamentary system, with both an upper and lower
house of legislature. The lower house, the House of Commons, would include elected
members from across the country. Conversely, the upper house, the Senate, according
to Section 24 of the Constitution Act (1867), states: The Governor General shall...
summon qualified Persons to the Senate; and... every Person so summoned shall
become... a Member of the Senate. [1] This has amounted to almost 800 Canadians
being appointed to the Senate since Confederation. However, as Canadians have
grown to demand transparency... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In retrospect, in order for the Senate to achieve any sort of democratic status, the
federal chamber should be comprised of elected members. Most criticism towards the
Canadian Senate is directed at the ineffectiveness of the upper house.[13] The
Constitution states that the Senate shall act as a chamber of sober second thought
from the perceived more radical lower house.[14] However, the Senate has proven to
be useless in this process, and does not act as a voice of reason or representative
opinion. The argument that the Senate is more reflective of the national population
than the House of Commons definitely doesn t come cheap. Because Senators are not
elected they don t represent the public interest and therefore shear no accountability.
This lack of accountability allows for the chamber s activities to become autonomous
and secretive. Ultimately, the citizens of Canada are left in the dark in regards to the
performance and activities of the Senate. At the same time, when exploring the link
between the upper and lower houses, it is rational to say that the Senate serves no
purpose in the Canadian political system. As Senators come into power through
recommendation of the Prime Minister, it is uncommon for the chamber to disagree
with the government. Therefore, Senator appointment does
Essay on Horror Theories in Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part
2
Horror movies are based on humanity s disturbing, inner thoughts that are kept
hidden by sophisticated and civilized facades. The fact that people pay money to
go watch their own race be slaughtered shows that civilization has two sides. There
are many theories as to why humans act the way they do, such as Steven King s
beast within and potential lyncher theories and Stanley Solomon s exploration and
romantic isolationism theories. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 does a
fantastic job of displaying these theories about the horror genre if one knows what
they are looking for. Learning about why humans react the way they do to horror
films based on the theories of well known psychologists and horror writers can teach
humans a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also believed that since everybody is insane, insanity comes down to how
insane someone is (785). King s potential lyncher theory correlates with the beast
within theory. This theory simply explains that everyone has the potential to a
masked murderer if they don t keep their dark sides tamed (785). Stanley Solomon s
exploration theory is a very well known theory in the horror genre. The theory is the
reasoning behind why characters in horror movies always act so irrationally and
brainless. Why is it that the defenseless girl always puts herself in a dangerous state
by exploring? Sometimes it is ironic that the victim is lurking around in a dangerous
place because they have yet to be informed that a monster is in their presence (795).
Other times though, the victim explores even though they know they are putting
themselves in danger (795). As one watches these movies, they typically pity the
character. The fact that the viewer sympathizes the victim for acting so absurd tells
humans something about themselves. They want to explore as well (795). As
audiences watch, they want to cover their eyes in fear, but force themselves to watch
the film anyways. Solomon predicts in his theory that humans do this because the
ultimate irrationality of this typical moment of horror in the nightmare film
represents our own subconscious desire to confront our inevitable dread: to meet
death before we really
Benefits Of Video Games
Introduction Action video games, which are categorized by fighting, shooting, or
platform style games, have come to dominate the gaming industry in the 21st
century. Both parents and politicians alike have accused action games for causing
antisocial, violent and even addictive behavior in gamers. This fear over video
games fueled early research efforts to prove that violent video games were as
damaging as claims would suggest. Many studies claim to show an overall negative
psychological effect on the player, citing examples such as increased aggression and
long term harm to mental stability. However, recently, both gamers and game
developers have defended action games with claims that they make the player smarter
. This has sparked the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If this trend were to continue, research can change the public s opinion on action
games while encouraging video game developers themselves to make games that
yield more benefits for the players.
Perceptual Learning Effects One of the earliest studies on action video games,
Greenfield et al. (1994), found that such games facilitate visual attention and decrease
response times to an expected stimulus. Although these findings were not large
enough to suggest a significant cognitive benefit from video games, it paved the
way for many similar studies to come. For example, Green et al. in 2006 argued that
action gaming enhances visuospatial attention throughout the visual field. In their
study, gamers exhibited an enhancement in attentional resources and accuracy
compared with non gamers, not only in the periphery but also in central vision.
This established that playing video games really did improve mental growth, even
if just with everyday skills. However, research around this time began to argue that
video games created psychological harms for the player. In 2004, a meta analysis
conducted by Craig Anderson and Karen Dill studied the effects of violent video
games on a player s psyche. The study found that these games led to an increase to
aggressive behavior and aggressive cognition, meaning the player was more likely to
engage in violent
Analysis Of Diana George s Changing The Face Of Poverty
In Diana Georges Changing the Face of Poverty , she uses various examples of ads,
brands, and organizations to show that the way poverty is portrayed has corrupted the
understanding Americans have on poverty and what it really is. I agree with Diana
George s statement that the impression of poverty through visual imagery is
distorted. Her essay examines many aspects of the misrepresentation of poverty.
Society believes that they are doing more than what is actually being accomplished.
The effect of her explanation allows for the audience to alter their opinion on the true
image of poverty. Her use of real organizations within the community strengthens her
approach. In her writing, George examines how certain organizations, such as the
Habitat for Humanity that aim to eliminate poverty may be working against
themselves by the way they choose to show the problem. The visual representation
that the organization gives reflect the understanding that most Americans have when
it comes to what poverty really is. Showing the typical shacks, dirt, and black and
white photos will alter a person s mindset on poverty and cause them to not be able to
recognize themselves in that situation. In reality, the poverty in countries like Africa
are no different than the poverty we have in America. Georges writing gives
examples of how Americans within our society are not motivated to help people as
compared to other countries. All the sources she uses in her analysis are representing

Power of Substitutes VERY LOW As previously stated the buyers in the furniture manufacturing industry are furniture retailers. Therefore they will require furniture to continue business. There are no substitutes that provide the same use as furniture. In relation to the furniture industry as a whole, there are still very little substitutes to furniture aside from a higher use of closet space or unorthodox measures by consumers. An example of this would be one s choice to live without furniture, which in most cases is very unlikely. It was especially the pelvis where all segments of the sacrum are united with no evidence of epiphyseal unions that gave away the fact that she was 30 years old plus. The others, like the femur and humerus, would give a general age however the standards stopped at the age of 20; the bone doesn t shift much past that unless its osteoporosis or something similar. FURTHER ANALYSIS Facial reconstruction is used as a last resort to identify remains by placing clay atop the skeleton in hopes of reconstructing what that person may look like to get a possible identification. • 8. Observation On A Restaurant On October 15, 2017 at approximately 10 AM, I woke up to go to Freddie s Restaurant to start my observations. It was a nice morning, about 50 degrees and sunny with a slight breeze. I hopped into my Chevy truck to head to the restaurant. There were cars zipping around the town because church had just gotten let out, and families were going to get food somewhere. Through my personal experiences, I know that Freddie s is a popular place to go on a Sunday. The owner s daughter, Stephanie Cannon, is my middle brother s girlfriend (also my broker), and she worked at the restaurant on its busiest days. She explained to me that many families enjoy gathering at Freddie s for a traditional breakfast after their church service is finished. She also noted that Freddie s offers some of the best food for a great price. On certain Sundays, there is a breakfast buffet that is extremely popular, and there s a wide variety of food offered at those buffets. I also know the owners, Mark and Sue Cannon, very well because they are obviously Stephanie s parents. Our families have been very close ever since I was a little kid, and we ve eaten at Freddie s many times. During the summer when my brother and Steph are home, we eat there occasionally. It s nice because we don t even have to pay. I had to pick up my brother, Derek, and Steph from her house because they wanted to go to breakfast while I observed. We arrived at the restaurant, and there were a lot of cars parked outside the restaurant.

This also includes boat patrol of all state and boundary waters, and patrol of many state properties. We work weekends. Analysis Of My Neighbor Totoro The way Hayao Miyazaki entices his viewers to accept his idea about a new relationship between nature and humanity was never really talked about or discussed in the past couple of years. The film My Neighbor Totoro, with all the religious elements and the social impact it had established the director Miyazaki as one of the best animators not just in Japan, but around the world. What really gives this film power and fame is not just the mysterious and magical world it has or the cute character that Miyazaki created, but also the film s way of influencing the audience by conveying an unfamiliar message about this three layered relationship between nature and humans. Comparing both Miyazaki s childhood memories and the story depicted helps him connect the audience s feelings with the characters and making this realistic representation of humanemotion in the film believable and realistic not only to children, but even to adults. What also makes the world more familiar to the spectators is the director s use of a common fear from many people s early years in this unknown and magical world. This common fear is clearly illustrated when the girls meet Susuwatari, a black spirit in the old empty house that stays in dark spaces and prefers to be left alone, and only children can see it. The introduction of this spirit is a good transition between the world of magic and reality. It confirms and insists about the existence of the unknown, and introduces a world of illusion and

Then, you remember something that seems very irrelevent, a cup of tea. Screenwriters change small details around. They do this to give their own twist to a story. This happens in the short story The Landlady by Roald Dahl and the episode version from Tales of the Unexpected. There are many similarities between the short storyversion and the episode. One similarity is the sign placed outside the landlady s home. The bed and breakfast sign caught Billy eye in the story. It caught his eye in the episode as well. Billy is walking along the street when the sign just randomly catches his eye and allures him into the landlady s house. The screenwriter kept this part the same because it is important. The screenwriter probably believed that seventeen years old would not be old enough to start working for a company in the time his episode was made, so he changed Billy from seventeen to eighteen which is old enough to work. Moreover, Billy shows signs of being poisoned in only the episode. Billy in the story just mentioned that the tea tasted of bitter almonds and is otherwise unphased in the first few minutes. Billy in the episode however, is actually breathing heavily and feeling as if he is being choked to death. The screenwriter alters the plot because he knows that cyanide is supposed to kill fairly quickly so the screenwriter changed that detail so Billy would show signs of being poisoned

Through the analysis of the play along with numerous sources, Macleod argues her idea that the spectators of the play seem to dwell on the antagonist s Carol s advantage over the protagonist, John, as a result of her gender. In fact, Macleod argues that it is Carol s struggle for power that truly highlights her in a negative light and is the true engagement within the play. Despite holding a viewpoint which deeply contrasts the standard belief by viewers that Mamet s Oleanna deals with gender, Christine Macleod proves with solid arguments in her essay that David Mamet calls for more attention to hierarchy and language, and uses other factors as an addition to the plot which simply blurs everything else; this is evidently a flawed statement as Macleod fails to realize her... E. T. Owen in Drama in Sophocles Oedipus Tyrannus describes the climaxof the drama: The central scenes contain the heart of the drama, that for which the rest exists the drama of the revelation. The poet s task here is to make its effect adequate to the expectation. He manages to spin it out to nearly 500 lines, and, instead of thinning, increases the excitement by spreading it out; it becomes a threefold revelation rising to a climax (36). Thus it is that Owen sees the conflict escalating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thomas Van Nortwick in The Meaning of a Masculine Life describes Oedipustragic flaw: As ruler, he is a father to Thebes and its citizens, and like a father he will take care of his children. We see already the supreme self confidence and ease of command in Oedipus, who can address not only other people s children as his own, but also be a father to men older than he is. But beyond even this there is, in the wretched posture of the citizens, the hint of prostration before a deity. We are clinging to your altars, says the priest. . . . That he also exudes a godlike mastery in the eyes of his subjects only strengthens the heroic portrait. . . .(21 22). The godlike mastery to which Van Nortwick refers is the same mastery which Creon in his final lines designates as the cause of the tragic dimension in the life of the protagonist: Crave not mastery in all, /For the mastery that raised thee was thy bane and wrought thy fall. Oedipus total mastery of the investigation resultant from the Delphic oracle s declaration, yes, his forceful pursuit of the investigation against the wishes of Jocasta, Teiresias, the messenger and the shepherd, ultimately spells the downfall of King Oedipus. In recent years the economic environment created fierce competition for the bookstore, coupled with a need for innovative technology meant a need for restructuring. Behavior change is based on how an individual works within the environment. The employees of Concord Bookshop were not consulted therefore did not have an opportunity to verbalize their concerns or provide input to assist the company to move the bookstore in a new direction. The management team was aware of the financial distress and was willing to participate in any financial changes required. The employees of the bookstore had an abundance of knowledge and experience that may have contributed to ending financial turmoil (Schein, 2011). Open dialogue between the employees and owners may have facilitated the development and collaboration of new ideas in a competitive environment. The mower sees a likeness between his blossoming affection and the blossoming of the fresh meadow, and is comparing his relationship with Juliana to the meadow. Marvell seems to have led a relatively private personal life. In his article Detached Commitment Paul Deen writes that Marvell seems more interested with the potential for love than its realization, no doubt because no commitment is involved at this stage. This recurring theme could be a reflection of Marvell himself, maybe Marvell was a bit detached, which would explain the absence of an active personal life. An oversimplification of this movie is to say it is about normal people doing their job, which would be picking up and delivering mail overnight. Beneath what would seem to most people as a normal job from today s standards, is that the film dives into what it was like for the working class at the General Post Office. This documentary shows us the pride that was once had in the industry of postal service, which has become simplified with technology such as drone deliverer and air/sea travel. This process is what I would implement on a larger scale in my second simulation run. Throughout my second run in the simulation I altered my strategy to have my prices lower then competition and it backfired greatly on me. My thought process for this was that having lower prices would definitely raise market share as consumers would chose the cheaper costs. At the same time I envisioned the drop in prices would result in more consumers switching companies and renting from Universal, but I was wrong. Causality is different in that it is the notion that a change in one factor results in a corresponding change in another. Lets use an example to better understand correlation and causality. In Euripides greek play, the audience experiences catharsis as they watch the secondary characters, Medea, Creusa, and Jason and Medea s sons suffer as a result of Jason s hamartia; striving for power. These secondary characters experience the true suffering and therefore they are what allow the reader to reach catharsis. In the beginning of the text, Jason abandons Medea for another woman. Medea feels an overwhelming sense of heartbreak and anger because she not only loved Jason but she did everything for him; she went against her father, ran away from her home, killed her brother, and helped him succeed on his journeys according to the readings of Edith Hamilton s The Quest of the Golden Fleece. Medea also makes is clear how she was a loving and providing wife to him and definitely not deserving of abandonment. And I have loved him and borne him sons;
  • 53. Canada s Parliamentary System Essay On July 1st, 1867, Canada confederated into a nation and committed to uphold democracy From Sea to Sea . As stated in the Constitution of our nation, Canada would be governed through a Parliamentary system, with both an upper and lower house of legislature. The lower house, the House of Commons, would include elected members from across the country. Conversely, the upper house, the Senate, according to Section 24 of the Constitution Act (1867), states: The Governor General shall... summon qualified Persons to the Senate; and... every Person so summoned shall become... a Member of the Senate. [1] This has amounted to almost 800 Canadians being appointed to the Senate since Confederation. However, as Canadians have grown to demand transparency... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In retrospect, in order for the Senate to achieve any sort of democratic status, the federal chamber should be comprised of elected members. Most criticism towards the Canadian Senate is directed at the ineffectiveness of the upper house.[13] The Constitution states that the Senate shall act as a chamber of sober second thought from the perceived more radical lower house.[14] However, the Senate has proven to be useless in this process, and does not act as a voice of reason or representative opinion. The argument that the Senate is more reflective of the national population than the House of Commons definitely doesn t come cheap. Because Senators are not elected they don t represent the public interest and therefore shear no accountability. This lack of accountability allows for the chamber s activities to become autonomous and secretive. Ultimately, the citizens of Canada are left in the dark in regards to the performance and activities of the Senate. At the same time, when exploring the link between the upper and lower houses, it is rational to say that the Senate serves no purpose in the Canadian political system. As Senators come into power through recommendation of the Prime Minister, it is uncommon for the chamber to disagree with the government. Therefore, Senator appointment does
  • 54. Essay on Horror Theories in Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 Horror movies are based on humanity s disturbing, inner thoughts that are kept hidden by sophisticated and civilized facades. The fact that people pay money to go watch their own race be slaughtered shows that civilization has two sides. There are many theories as to why humans act the way they do, such as Steven King s beast within and potential lyncher theories and Stanley Solomon s exploration and romantic isolationism theories. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 does a fantastic job of displaying these theories about the horror genre if one knows what they are looking for. Learning about why humans react the way they do to horror films based on the theories of well known psychologists and horror writers can teach humans a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also believed that since everybody is insane, insanity comes down to how insane someone is (785). King s potential lyncher theory correlates with the beast within theory. This theory simply explains that everyone has the potential to a masked murderer if they don t keep their dark sides tamed (785). Stanley Solomon s exploration theory is a very well known theory in the horror genre. The theory is the reasoning behind why characters in horror movies always act so irrationally and brainless. Why is it that the defenseless girl always puts herself in a dangerous state by exploring? Sometimes it is ironic that the victim is lurking around in a dangerous place because they have yet to be informed that a monster is in their presence (795). Other times though, the victim explores even though they know they are putting themselves in danger (795). As one watches these movies, they typically pity the character. The fact that the viewer sympathizes the victim for acting so absurd tells humans something about themselves. They want to explore as well (795). As audiences watch, they want to cover their eyes in fear, but force themselves to watch the film anyways. Solomon predicts in his theory that humans do this because the ultimate irrationality of this typical moment of horror in the nightmare film represents our own subconscious desire to confront our inevitable dread: to meet death before we really
  • 55. Benefits Of Video Games Introduction Action video games, which are categorized by fighting, shooting, or platform style games, have come to dominate the gaming industry in the 21st century. Both parents and politicians alike have accused action games for causing antisocial, violent and even addictive behavior in gamers. This fear over video games fueled early research efforts to prove that violent video games were as damaging as claims would suggest. Many studies claim to show an overall negative psychological effect on the player, citing examples such as increased aggression and long term harm to mental stability. However, recently, both gamers and game developers have defended action games with claims that they make the player smarter . This has sparked the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If this trend were to continue, research can change the public s opinion on action games while encouraging video game developers themselves to make games that yield more benefits for the players. Perceptual Learning Effects One of the earliest studies on action video games, Greenfield et al. (1994), found that such games facilitate visual attention and decrease response times to an expected stimulus. Although these findings were not large enough to suggest a significant cognitive benefit from video games, it paved the way for many similar studies to come. For example, Green et al. in 2006 argued that action gaming enhances visuospatial attention throughout the visual field. In their study, gamers exhibited an enhancement in attentional resources and accuracy compared with non gamers, not only in the periphery but also in central vision. This established that playing video games really did improve mental growth, even if just with everyday skills. However, research around this time began to argue that video games created psychological harms for the player. In 2004, a meta analysis conducted by Craig Anderson and Karen Dill studied the effects of violent video games on a player s psyche. The study found that these games led to an increase to aggressive behavior and aggressive cognition, meaning the player was more likely to engage in violent

Analysis Of Diana George s Changing The Face Of Poverty In Diana Georges Changing the Face of Poverty , she uses various examples of ads, brands, and organizations to show that the way poverty is portrayed has corrupted the understanding Americans have on poverty and what it really is. I agree with Diana George s statement that the impression of poverty through visual imagery is distorted. Her essay examines many aspects of the misrepresentation of poverty. Society believes that they are doing more than what is actually being accomplished. The effect of her explanation allows for the audience to alter their opinion on the true image of poverty. Her use of real organizations within the community strengthens her approach. In her writing, George examines how certain organizations, such as the Habitat for Humanity that aim to eliminate poverty may be working against themselves by the way they choose to show the problem. The visual representation that the organization gives reflect the understanding that most Americans have when it comes to what poverty really is. Showing the typical shacks, dirt, and black and white photos will alter a person s mindset on poverty and cause them to not be able to recognize themselves in that situation. In reality, the poverty in countries like Africa are no different than the poverty we have in America. Georges writing gives examples of how Americans within our society are not motivated to help people as compared to other countries. All the sources she uses in her analysis are representing
