2. Introduction
I like to think of Italy as an intricate and
colourful tapestry. I also like to think
the way we work at S-cape Travel is like
that of a master embroiderer.
We like to listen and understand the
idea behind the dream, sketch out the
trip and outline the experiences you
wish to have, then expertly select the
precious threads and hues to fill in the
gaps.
Finally, we patiently stitch within the
contours to create a dazzling and
personalized masterpiece that includes
all the elements, activities, tastes and
sites that are important to you.
I feel truly in my element when
travelling, I have been far and wide as
well as personally visited, walked and
cycled every magnificent region Italy
boasts, multiple times.
I am -and so Is my team- passionate and
curious, always thirsty for knowledge,
the unexpected and new, open to an
adventure at every turn without losing
site of what is safe, feasible and aligned
with your expectations.
I hope the following pages will make
you daydream, inspiring you to come
to Italy. We are here to help you piece
it together and make that dream come
true.

5. THE JOURNEY
At S-Cape, we always look forward to the next journey.
We firmly believe that travel refreshes our way of perceiving the
world and our very selves: the roads we’ve never trodden spark
senses we rarely use, new challenges bring untapped strengths into
light, other cultures can answer questions we never knew we had.
More than anything, we yearn to create lifelong memories: indelible
fragments of unique moments, flickering through your mind when
called upon, bringing back unparalleled emotions; and there you
are, longing for the next adventure, we will make it happen.
6. What’s on your plate? The choice is yours; we have options
for every taste. We’ll book Michelin-prized restaurants,
take you on a pilgrimage through colourful food markets
and to street-food meccas, have a grandma hand-make you
the best pasta you’ll ever eat, or leave you to roam free to
discover what makes your taste buds sing.
What’s on your plate? The choice is yours
We love food. And we know you love it too. Mouthwatering
foodie moments are always on our menu: stellar meals
based on ingredients grown just outside your window, wine
tastings among centuries-old barrels or sunset drenched
vineyards, hands-on cooking lesson and more – this is our
bread and butter.
We love food. And we know you love it too
Our trips come with a new family for every night of your
trip: we have met your hosts and we know how welcoming
they are: scrupulous hoteliers, organic farmers, castle-
owners and amiable families. These passionate locals know
the true meaning of hospitality.
A new family for every night
Not just a place to sleep in: hotels are an integral part of
the cultural experience. When choosing the ideal nest for
our travellers, we hunt for the perfect blend of comfort and
local flair – places narrating the story you are here to listen
or that lull you to sleep with the soothing sound of silence.
Not just a place to sleep in
7. HOTELS &
RESTAURANTS
We will make you feel at home every single night.
We meticulously select your accommodation for all the right reasons:
being it a hip boutique hotel in the perfect location to enjoy a grand
after-dinner downtown or a family run agriturismo known for its
generations-long hospitality, a medieval fortress perched above an
Etruscan village or the cosiest bed and (nonna-made) breakfast, we
guarantee your sleep will always be in the best hands.
8. Travelling can transform, enrich, change, lead to a personal
evolution - or “just” amuse, delight, relax.
It can be a well-intended challenge or a long awaited holiday. The trip
we will meticulously plan will be the perfect chance to try all those
amazing things you’ve always dreamt of – it may not be the kind of
experience you were expecting, but it will go beyond you expectations.
Our trips are filled with moments you’ll carry with you forever, for how
epic or simple they may be: a chat with a broken English-speaking bar
owner, the chants you hear as you whizz past a tiny country church,
children playing soccer in a sicilian village piazza as you sit sipping your
almondy coffee – this is what cultural immersion is all about.
10. Guided or indipendent? You decide. Ask for a guided tour,
and you will get the perfect leader; opt for a indipendent
self-guided trip, and we will fill you with detailed docu-
mentation and a state-of-the-art App to navigate safely
and smoothly on your walks and rides . Either way, we are
always just a phone call away: our support team is available
24/7, and our deep local connections are ready to assist
you on the spot.
Guided or indipendent? You decide
Designing the perfect trip is our favourite art and each trip
is a masterpiece. We are creative with an analytical soul:
we have the knowledge and flexibility to shape your holi-
day the way you want it and the perfect balance of creati-
vity and expertise to make it ever-surprising and smooth
flowing.
Designing the perfect trip is our favorite art form
Our guides are a great, heterogenic and passionate bunch
of individuals. You should see them all together – trainings
are a huge fun! Bird-loving biologists and avid triatlhetes,
donkey-owning authors and globetrotting bloggers and
photographers. They are all proud to be locals and devoted
to providing the best possible experience. Give us a trip,
and we’ll pair you with the perfect leader.
Our guides are a great bunch of individuals
At S-Cape, we personally design and test every single trip
we offer. Each step you take, we have taken it before you:
we got to know your hosts, spotted the best trattorias for
lunch, crafted hyper-detailed route notes to make sure
your way is safe and easy to follow. We know every region
by heart – and we love them all.
We personally design and test every trip

How we help you embrace the beauty of being fully away:
We work with you to define your own vacation: exploring, relaxing, orga-
nising and making it all hassle free so you focus on relaxing, tasting and
learning, trying something new, maybe even challenging or outside of your
comfort zone. Every step of the way our team and guides are there to sup-
port, encourage, solve and ensure you have the best time ever.

HIKING
Walking is really our
thing. That is what most
of us like to do when not
working – often on other
hiking trips.
We are far from hiking
snobs – from the
unmissable Caminos
to unheard of trails of
the beaten path, from
sea breeze-caressed
leisurly strolls to the most
adventurous via ferrata,
we have done and loved
them all – and would love
to take you there.
A winding Tuscan road
among rolling hills
scattered with cypresses;
a hut to hut hike in
the Dolomites, idyllic
meadows and jagged
peaks all around you; a
spontaneous escape to
the sea for a three-day
hike along the cliffs, a
introspective weeks-long
pilgrimage: whatever your
hiking dreams are, we
know where and how to
make them come alive.
14. WALKING IN TUSCANY
Rolling hills adorned with picture-perfect rows
of cypresses, brick and limestone hilltowns,
undulating bright green fields of wheat or
carpeted with red poppies and yellow sun-
flowers: Tuscany is always iconic, and there is
no better way to soak up its timeless beauty
than to walk through it.
This tour combines the most scenic walks
on the Via Francigena pilgrim way with the
unmissable historical gems: the world famous
leaning tower of Pisa, the Medieval towers of
San Gimignano, make pasta from scratch in an
organic farm, meet a young farmer producing
raw goat cheese just out of Lucca, witness an
Alabaster artist at work in the heart of Vol-
terra, walk in the lunar landscape of the Val
d’Orcia and wander the Contrade of Siena.
To crown your Tuscan dream, end in Florence,
cradle of Renaissance, viewing up close the
magnificent frescoes on Brunelleschi’s Cathe-
dral dome.
THE BEST OF THE VIA
FRANCIGENA PILGRIM WAY
Walking Via Francigena is also a walk across
Italy – and as Italians love to say that Italy is
many small countries in one. Between the first
step in the jaw-dropping mountain scape of
the Great St. Bernard Pass and the last one
into St. Peter’s square lies a journey of dra-
matically changing scenery – from untamed
forests in Lunigiana to serene rolling hills in
Val d’Orcia, from the peaceful paths along the
Ticino river to shady Etruscan tagliate just out
of Viterbo; from the majestic castles and for-
tresses of Aosta Valley to the Roman amphi-
theatres and basilicas of Latium.
This full on walking trip is perfect for those
seeking the best the Camino to Rome has to
offer – covering six regions and 1000 km in
one week, we will hike the most spectacular
sections of the itinerary and marvel at its
highlights, including well-known art cities such
as Siena and San Gimignano, hidden gems like
Monteriggioni and Sutri and Parma – one of
Italy’s gastronomic hubs, the motherland of
Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma
among other PDO products.
APULIA COASTAL WALK
Walking on red-earth coloured trails – the sea
always in sight, twinkling azure and calm or
lulling you with the sound of rolling waves –
all your senses are awake and nature becomes
more vivid with each step: the ancient olive
trees rustle in the wind, the crickets screech at
a distance, the smell of wild fennel and liquo-
rice fills the air.
Puglia’s coastal trail, from Otranto to Gagliano
del Capo, is a perfect synthesis of all the won-
ders Apulia has to offer: epic views, amazing
swimming spots, unknown villages waiting
to be explored and windswept, undisturbed
nature. From the white-washed houses of
Otranto to the lighthouse of Punta Palascia -
the easternmost point of Italy - from secluded
coves perfect for a quick dip to coastal SPA
towns to relax after the walk; from tiny fishing
hamlets to Lecce, with its Baroque palaces
and Roman masterpieces.
The route is an ever-changing one, as well as
the surrounding landscape: from a coastal
sheperd’s path along a low jagged cliff to
the open grasslands of an Apulian “Savana”,
through stone walled roads carved by the
passage of ancient carts and lush forests of tall
trees.

16. FROM FARM
TO TABLE
For Italians, food is a
very serious matter:
a religion more than
a simple passion, a
polytheist creed made
of countless, delicious
Gods and oracles. The
first Commandment?
“No pasta will be better
than the one my grandma
makes.”
Join the cult with one of
our food tours, and you
will be enlightened on
what the veneration is all
about: traditional recipes
based on ingredients
grown a few metres away,
Michelin star recipes
created by illuminated
minds and expert hands,
golden fruit basking in
the Southern sun and red
wine maturing in cool
cellars, its aroma enriched
and preserved by the
century-old barrels it rests
in.
Take part in the Italian
sacred rituals – make
pasta from scratch, forage
the herbs that will season
your arrosto, smell the
cork before drinking your
wine, slurp (seriously,
that’s the way to do it)
the extra virgin olive oil:
above all, eat, drink, and
celebrate life with every
mouthful and sip.
Choose a destination, we’ll bring you to the food
17. Mentioning “Sicily” is enough to evoke images
of lemons and oranges basking in the golden
sun, fresh ricotta-filled cannoli, soft and rich
almond cakes and fishing boats awash with
freshly-caught treasures. Set in a crossroads
of seas and cultures, Sicily and its cuisine are
the result of a mixed heritage: on the “Island of
the sun” Arabic ingredients like pistachios and
couscous mesh with indigenous meats and fish
and flavourful cheese and vegetables.
Our 10-day tour is a true immersion in this
delicious cultural blend: from the markets of
Palermo to Scopello and its tuna-fishing tradi-
tion, from a tasting of fortified Marsala wines
to a pastry-making lesson in Erice, a paradise
for the sweet-toothed. In between meals, there
will be time for a taste of Sicilian history our
menu includes the temples of Agrigento, the
pulsing Baroque heart of Siracusa, beautiful
Trapani and Corleone, for the true story of the
Mafia and the most famous Italian Godfathers.

18. THE GREEN HEART OF ITALY
The idea of nurturing yourself conscientiously
and enjoying every mouthful is a new way of
meditating, but it comes quite naturally to us
Italians. This tour takes you to Umbria, the
green heart of Italy – a serene realm of olive
groves, forests, orchards and high mountain
plateaus – to discover what mindful eating is
all about.
Join an expert agronomist as you forage for
lunch made of a plethora of edible plants,
fruits, berries and home-grown goodies; help
harvest and press organic DOP olives and join
Maria and her workers for a proper farmer’s
lunch in the olive grove; re-think pizza as you
help milk the cows in the stable, turn the
warm milk into mozzarella and bake your own
delicious meal.
Switch from stables to stars as you join a
Michelin starred chef for a hands-on gourmet
cooking lesson and truffle-hunt with veteran
“Tartufai” in the Umbrian woods.
In between meals, there will be time to
explore – the flower-filled streets of Spello,
the imposing fortress of Spoleto, the peaceful
heritage where St.Francis used to meditate
and Norcia, hit by a major earthquake in 2016
and now rising to new life thanks to the work
and passion of the local community.
TASTE OF PUGLIA
Once an under-the-radar, mainly agricultural
region, Puglia is punching above the waist
and charming an ever-growing number
of travellers with its slow-paced lifestyle,
stunning beaches, year-round sunny climate
art cities and a genuineness lost in other
tourist-packed regions. And did we mention
the food?
Producing more than 40% of Italy’s olive
oil and a large proportion of its wine nd
vegetables, it is no wonder that Puglia is
regarded as one of Italy’s gastronomic hubs:
its wholesome, simple cuisine is based on local
ingredients, passionately grown and cooked –
a recipe for success.
This tour is a real full-immersion in everything
delicious Puglia can offer: from the wood
oven-baked Altamura bread – crunchy outside,
soft and warm inside – to fresh milk shaped
into mozzarella under your very eyes, a few
kilometres from Alberobello; from the local
wine – once disdained and now gaining
international recognition – to Puglia’s green
gold, its olive oil.
Test your pasta-making and vegetable-picking
skills, explore the Trulli of Alberobello and the
Sassi of Matera, taste a surprisingly vast array
of antipasti and spoil your sweet tooth with
Mina’s ricotta cake. A tour to enjoy from the
antipasto to dessert.
19.
20. CULTURE
We may be biased, but we
believe there is no place
in the world like Italy.
There must be a reason
why we are considered
the food mecca of
the world, a country
of poets, explorers
and artists, where art
and life intermingle
effortlessly, and a certain
timeless style permeates
everything we do.
With so much to be
explored, tasted and
admired the risk of
choice paralysis may feel
overwhelming- but we are
here to help you navigate
this ocean of culture and
beauty.
Tell us what moves you,
how you want to feel,
what sparks the light
of your imagination: in
this beautifully intricate
mosaic you find all the
elements for your perfect
trip. We know how to
put them together to
create your tailor-made
masterpiece.
Navigating through a tapestry of masterpieces

22. ART LOVERS TUSCAN WALK
FROM LEONARDO TO
MICHELANGELO
Behind a great masterpiece lies a great artist.
And behind a great artist - more likely, in front of
him - there is always great inspiration. With its
varied, picture perfect sceneries and immense
cultural heritage, Tuscany unsurprisingly inspired
some of the greatest masters shaping their idea
of beauty.
This trip - perfect for aspiring painters, art
amateurs and lovers of beauty alike - takes you
to see what they saw, bringing your favorite
paintings come alive: from the dramatic Balze
- clay pinnacles soaring above the Val d’Arno-
background to Leonardo da Vinci’s Gioconda
and Ponte a Buriano, the bridge behind the most
enigmatic smile of the art world; from Arezzo
- a medieval jewel, home to painter Piero della
Francesca to Caprese Michelangelo, birthplace of
Michelangelo.
Walk in the Sacred Forest of La Verna
Monastery: depicted in Michelangelo’s Creation
of Adam in the Sistine Chapel in Rome.
TREASURES OF SOUTHERN
ITALY: NAPLES, POMPEI,
AMALFI & POSITANO
With its collective imagination of fragrant
agrumes ripening in the sun, pastel-hued houses
sitting precipitously on mountainsides wrapped
around pretty harbours, and waterfront
promenades teaming with gourmet restaurants
and fish shops, the Amalfi Coast needs no
introduction. Nor does Pompei and Naples - the
Southern city par excellence, full of raw energy,
wondrous panoramas and unexpected elegance.
This tour takes you to both, but also includes
Pompeii - a slice of ancient life remarkably
well-preserved under the ashes of the 79
a.C. volcanic eruption - and Sorrento, where
huge lemons climax into creamy limoncello
and sunsets are soul-stirring; follow Goethe’s
footsteps on the “Sentiero degli Dei “- one of
the best coastal walks in the world - through
dramatic views over the bay of Sorrento and
Capri, terraced vineyards and fields carpeted
with colorful wildflowers.
A trip into everything great Southern Italy has to
offer - a weeklong immersion on how to enjoy
the pleasures of life.
23. EASTER TRADITIONS OF
SICILY
Each region of Italy is a tiny world in its own -
Sicily is no exception. Although its high spirited
locals and sunbaked climate make every day
worth celebrating, there is a time of the year
in which the Island of the sun gets especially
festive: the holy week of Easter.
One week, a profusion of events – products of
secular traditions, the culmination of yearlong
preparation, fully-fledged shows with much
coveted roles passed down within the family.
This tour takes you on a festivity-hunt of the
most spectacular Easter processions: from the
Palm Sunday in Siracusa, where palm branches
are blessed and waved to commemorate
the entrance of Jesus in Jerusalem, to the
paper-mache “Vare” statues parading through
Caltanissetta; the 2500 representatives of
Spanish-styled “Confraternite” flooding the
narrow streets of Enna - each one a character of
the Passion of Christ - to the huge “Misteri” of
Trapani, carved out of cork and wood by skilful
artisan.
Between processions, delve into the treasure
trove of art, history & food that is Sicily.
THE BEST OF ROME
When in Rome, do as the Romans do. But what
do Romans do, exactly? With its bountyfull
beauty and art, the eternal city is worth a month
of exploration. But if you are looking for the best
of the best - the “grande bellezza” condensed in
seven days of exploration and dolce vita, this is
the trip for you.
Admire Caravaggio paintings enshrined in grand
palaces and masterpieces unexpectedly hidden
in the tiniest churches, marvel at statues so
vibrant with life you can see fingertips sinking
in marble skin as soft as flesh; bike on the
Ancient Appian way – one of the oldest road
still in existence - among imperial circuses and
catacombs, practice your Roman fighting skills
as you swing your sword in a real gladiator
school, have breakfast in the heart of the Vatican
Museum before enjoying a privileged visit of the
Vatican’s endless treasures.
To really master the Roman ways, get to know
it’s food: Michelin prized restaurants ancient
Jewish recipes in the heart of the ghetto,
cocktails in an American-style speakeasy,
crispy thin pizza, decadent gelato and plates
overflowing with Carbonara in the lively
Trastevere district. Rome is a cornucopia of great
food for you to plunge into - and that is precisely
what Romans do too.
24.
25. We believe that the
world looks even better
if seen on a saddle:
zigzagging through
the flowery alleys and
cobbled stoned hamlets,
conquering exhilarating
climb on a hunt for the
best vistas, freewheeling
down a hill as the
landscape blend into a
kaleidoscope of bright
colours – this is what
dreams – and our trips –
are made of.
Our guides are ready to
lead the way- but they
also know where to stop
for the best photo, the
freshest water fountain,
the most delicious
gelato to fuel your
pedalling; they are the
best supporters for your
sprints, and know what
to do in case you get a
flat.

CYCLING
26.
27. PUGLIA BETWEEN TRULLI AND
THE SEA
Italy’s best kept secret for outstanding cycling lies
among fragrant olive groves and the conical roofs
of the Trulli, along seabreeze caressed coastal roads
and the whitewashed houses of luminous hilltop
towns.
Puglia’s beauty becomes more iconic with every
miles. Each town has a story to tell – so fascinating
you would never cease to listen.
Lose your way in the labyrinthine roads of Polignano,
stand in awe in the pearly splendour of the
Castellana Caves, decipher the mysterious symbols
painted on trullo roofs and watch as steaming milk
is effortlessly shaped into creamy Mozzarella knots
– back on the saddle zooming through the azure
twinkling of the sea and the many shades of green
of the Mediterranean scrub.
TUSCANY CYCLING
Be it a gentle stroll along the Arno riverside to
admire the orange sunset, a two-wheel jaunt among
vineyards on the way to the perfect picnic, or a
challenging ride up and down the Chianti on the
iconic Eroica route – Tuscany has something for
every kind of cycling enthusiast.
Tell us how you roll, and we will find the perfect
adventure: maybe it’s a leisurely, family-friendly
trip from the leaning tower of Pisa to the Florentine
splendours, passing by Lucca and Vinci, where
Leonardo’s genius was born; an adventure from
the Medieval San Gimignano to Etruscan Volterra,
riding through vineyards, sunflower fields and
tower-crowned castles; or a road biking trip on
cypress-lined strade bianche, speeding through
some of the most iconic sceneries in the world.
You think your sight has been filled for one day? Just
wait for dinner – and of course don’t forget to pair it
with the wine. You deserved it.
28. Nothing like travelling
makes us more aware
of ourselves, more
accepting and open
towards the other –
being it other cultures,
other people, other
ideas, other ways of
seeing the world. As
soon as we leave home
and get out of our rut,
the thoughts become
clearer, the mind more
serene.
A walk in the forest
can become a
“Shin-rin-yoku” - the
ancient Japanese ritual
of “forest bathing”;
each step can be taken
in mindfulness, aware
of how our feet touch
the ground; organic,
local food deserving
more conscious
eating, to store those
unique flavours in our
gustatory memory.
What’s your idea of
conscious travel? A
yoga retreat in the
heart of Tuscany, a
week of walking in
nature to focus on
yourself, or a full,
hands-on immersion in
a culture you’ve always
felt close to ? Let us
help you plan your
perfect trip.
We will take care of the
details and leave you
free to focus on what
really matters to you.
MINDFULNESS
Focus on what really matters
29. S
If you feel like your mind is wandering incessantly
and your body is following behind, your muscles
are stiff, and your eyes are craving a different kind
of beauty – Tuscany may be the perfect place to
realign and feel whole again. With its painting-like
beauty and peaceful countryside, this region has
everything it takes to bring you back to yourself.
Focus on your breath as you sit in the cool grass
of your agriturismo – a home among rolling hills
and cypresses - the thoughts flowing and the
cicadas singing softly; stretch in your best yoga
pose on a SUP board, floating on the azure waters
of a natural canyon; eat consciously, knowing that
your food was grown in a vegetable garden a few
metres from where you are sitting.
A trip to connect and reconnect, to enjoy and
appreciate. Above all, to center on what really
matters – yourself.

31. BIRDING
The range of different
biogeographic, geomorphologic
and climatic conditions from
Norhtern to Southern Italy allow
for great habitat diversity and
a rich nature. Italy is among
the Southernmost countries in
Europe, but also the Northernmost
country in the Mediterrenean. The
millennial relationship between
humans and nature has been
another crucial factor for the
extreme complexity of the Italian
territory – more than 20% of which
is covered by protected natural
areas.
The heterogeneity of natural
habitats attracts some of the rarest
nesting birds in Europe and offers
many opportunities to watch birds,
starting from species typical of
the Siberian taiga, as the Pygmy
Owl, to Indo-African species as the
Bonelli´s Eagle.
Best of all, in Italy you will be
indulging your passion for
birding against the backdrop of a
world-class holiday destination.
You combine the birds with all
the aspects Italy is famous for:
delicious local food, wine, historic
villages and archaeological sites.
We can take you deep into
the Dolomites to look for
the Capercaille, Three-toed
woodpecker, Hazel grouse and
then go to Venice. In Sicily you can
add the Purple Swamphen and the
Bonelli’s eagle to your bird list in
the morning, admire the Sicilian
Rock Partridge at lunch, then visit
a greek temple or get acquainted
with the masterpieces of Sicilian
Baroque before dinner.
In the Po Delta Park, you can view
the rare Ferruginous Duck, along
with hundreds of migratory bird
species, then be in the city of
Ravenna with its revered Byzantine
mosaics and UNESCO-classified
heritage sites. In Tuscany you can
admire the wonders of Florence
and Siena and then look for the
Montagu’s harrier, Penduline Tit
the Great-spotted Cuckoo and the
Roller.
Richer & more varied than expected

BIRDING IN SICILY
Set in the crossroads between two seas -
Thyrrenean and Mediterranean - and two
continents - Europe and Africa - Sicily is an
exciting melting-pot of people and cultures, a
mosaic as colorful as those zealously guarded
in its cathedrals and Roman villas.
Here conquerors have come and gone -
Greeks, Romans, Moors, Phoenicians and
Normans have all landed on these coasts and
departed leaving an indelible mark, building
a rich and multifaceted legacy of cathedrals,
palaces, temples, churches and traditions.
Sicilian food mirrors this variety of customs
- scented cous cous is served with Eastern
spices and fresh local fish, sweet ricotta
cheese and almonds climax into cannoli and
sugar sprinkled sweets. Wine is sweet and
strong, carrying the scents and aromas of
lands near and far, and the people are as
warm and friendly as the island’s climate.
With such a fortunate mix you may be
led to assume that Sicilian nature can’t be
yet another strong point - but you will be
surprised. It’s a perfect hotspot for migrant
birds moving between continents, from
waterfowl and warblers to raptors, terns and
songbirds. The diverse landscape allows for an
extraordinary array of bird species, and our
tours are designed to take you through the
best birding spots and give you the full picture
of such richness.
In spring Sicily is a real heaven for birders!
BIRDING DOLOMITES
Dramatic limestone mountains and
snow-capped peaks, picture-perfect alpine
pastures and idyllic meadows: Trentino Alto
Adige undoubtedly boast one among the most
strikingly beautiful sceneries Italy has to offer.
But to an attentive eye there is much more to
be seen, as this dreamy landscape is home to
countless species of birds: all you need to spot
the rarest species is an expert guide, a good
pair of binoculars - and of course, a little bit of
luck.
An 8 day birding spree between the Alps
and the Dolomites, where staggering nature
alternates with fairy-tale castles and villages
and where birds thrive undisturbed : Coal tits
and Fieldfares populate the trees of elegant
Brunico; the forests of Fanes-Senes-Braies
Nature Park house Mistle Trushes and Ring
Ouzels, and high-mountain birds as the Alpine
Accentor and Water Pipit can be spotted at the
base of Tre Cime di Lavaredo, the landmark of
the UNESCO listed Dolomites.
Walk among the flowers of Princess Sissi’s
castle in Merano and lend an ear for the song
of Warbles, marvel at beautiful Alpine lakes
surrounded by hidden valleys and walk in the
Stelvio National Park on the lookout for the
Rock Patridge and the Lammergeyer.
The perfect tour to fill your list with new
species - and your eyes with jaw-dropping
beauty.

36. ADVENTURE IN TUSCANY
If you haven’t included Tuscany off your list of
adrenaline-packed destinations, think again.
Forget placid rolling hills and over-crowded art
cities – behind that artsy and tranquil façade
Tuscany hides some thrilling gems.
The adventure starts in Garfagnana: only
one-hour’s drive from Lucca, Pisa and
Florence, this area rich with castles, fortresses,
stone bridges and hill-perched hamlets retains
a strong medieval character and a mystical
atmosphere; its wild, unspoiled nature is the
perfect environment for any outdoor activity.
Climb Mount Forato – the Pierced Mountain,
whose 30m wide limestone arch frames
the Southern Alps and the sea like a natural
window; jump into limpid natural pools,
slide down natural water slides and walk in
the waters of Rio Silvano, the most beautiful
natural canyon in Tuscany; set off for
exhilarating hikes or jump on a helicopter and
enjoy bird’s-eye views of the region’s wildest
corners.
End the day with a mouth watering plate of
pasta washed down with a glass of Chianti
wine.
WATER WAYS
Waterways and coastal routes have always
been fundamental for expansion and
development in Italy; before the existence
of many roads, these allowed commercial
exchanges, cultural connections, food and
water for emerging civilizations.
Go with the flow on this 4-day cultural
waterways trip in Tuscany: enjoy Kayaking
and SUP on Lake Levane in the Bandella Val
d’Inferno (Hell Valley) nature reserve, visit an
olive mill and the beautiful medieval village
“Borgo” of Loro Ciufenna. Get a different
perspective of Florence as you float on the
Arno river, gliding gently on a raft, passing
under the Ponte Vecchio, then visit the city’s
pulsing heart and climb to its summit for a
birds’ eye view.
Learn about the ancient Etruscans and their
flourishing maritime commercial routes at the
Necropolis of Populonia archaeological site, in
the bay of Baratti. End the trip Kayaking along
the promontory of Piombino to Cala Moresca.
Enjoy a complete water experience under the
expert guidance of a freshwater ecologists and
licensed kayaking guides.
ADVENTURE IN THE
DOLOMITES
Grand mountains to explore and towering
walls made for climbing, scenic rivers to
conquer and sheer slopes perfect for the
wildest MTBing dreams: Dolomites are Italy’s
mountain playground, and we are ready to
take you out to play.
The choice is all yours: spend your day
climbing a Via Ferrata or jump into azure
pools on a canyoning adventure; ride the
exhilarating mountain streams on your kayak
or hike your way through wild-flowered trails
and jagged peaks.
Recharge with the nourishing, delicious local
fuel: buttery polenta and creamy cheese,
meat-stuffed ravioli and home-made cakes
overflowing with local apples, the perfect
ending for your adventure-packed days.
39. Our preferred means of transport is on foot and by bike.
We encourage the use of public transport and provide you with all
the details to make it simple; if you prefer a private transfer,
we employ local drivers to make sure the ride is as short as possible.
With our App you can follow the GPS track of your daily itinerary on
your smartphone and we have a nearly paper free office and have a
digital brochure and website. Going paperless, reduces your impact
in terms of resource consumption and waste generation.
We do our best not to waste water and to minimize plastic
consumption: bring your own reusable water bottle as tap water in
Italy is safe to drink. We also ask hotels not to change the linen every
day if you are staying more nights, unless you expressly require it.
We suggest what to bring on tour and provide a detailed packing lists
for your adventures. A lighter bag means less weight to carry around,
less energy spent for transportation, less disposable objects and
waste to be disposed. Less is more!
The resources of our crowded planet are limited, and we are aware
of the significant impact tourism has on our increasingly fragile
ecosystems. At S-Cape, we strive to make our travelers’ ecological
footprint as light as possible by making environmentally conscious
choices in the way we think and operate.
TRAVEL
We offer cycling and waking trips – low-impact ways of travelling
that leave little trace and contribute to your psychophysical well-
being.

WATER
We are personally involved in the support and promotion of local
cycling and walking itineraries, such as the signposting of the Via
Francigena walking and cycling route – the longest continuous
cycling route existing in Italy – that we contributed to financing.
When choosing accommodation, we prioritize small and family-
owned over global-branded and impersonal: agriturismi, bed &
breakfasts and boutique hotels that embody the local character and
make your experience as local and authentic as possible.
Food is a key factor in our trips: we opt for local, traditional, organic
foods whenever possible, grown and prepared by people we know
and trust. We recommend the best spots - local grocer, trattorie,
farmer markets and gourmet restaurants– where the food and
experience is excellent and at the same time support local producers
and micro-enterprises.
