Synopsis of mini project on
Pralay
ABSTRACT
This project introduces a novel approach to the design and implementation of a multi-purpose
race robot, tailored specifically for competitive racing applications. The development of this
race robot involves the integration of advanced technologies and methodologies across multiple
engineering disciplines to create a versatile and high-performance robotic platform. Key
features of the race robot include a comprehensive sensor suite comprising proximity sensors,
gyroscopes, and accelerometers, enabling precise perception of the surrounding environment.
Utilizing state-of-the-art control algorithms, the robot is capable of autonomous navigation,
obstacle avoidance, and dynamic trajectory planning, enhancing its adaptability and agility on
the race track.
The mechanical design of the race robot prioritizes lightweight construction and aerodynamic
optimization to maximize speed and manoeuvrability. This aspect is crucial in ensuring
competitive performance across various racing challenges. Furthermore, the project
emphasizes the importance of efficient power management and energy utilization to extend the
robot's endurance during prolonged races.
One of the primary objectives of this project is to provide undergraduate engineering students
with hands-on experience in robotics, control systems, and mechanical design. Through
collaborative teamwork and iterative prototyping, students gain practical insights into the
complexities of real-world engineering projects. Moreover, the project encourages creativity
and innovation, fostering a spirit of exploration and problem-solving among participants.
By engaging in this project, students develop essential skills in project management, system
integration, and interdisciplinary collaboration, which are invaluable for their future careers in
robotics and automation. Ultimately, this project serves as a platform for experiential learning,
empowering students to tackle challenges in autonomous racing technology and contribute to
advancements in the field.
