Do violent video games cause behavioral problems? For years this topic has been highly debated
amongst parents and the players. Violent video games do cause behavioral problems because they
alter a gamers mind.
Risk factors are a major part of behavioral problems. A risk factor of behavior problems are
behaviors that are harmful, disruptive, and impulsive. A majority of researchers say that it is
unlikely that playing violent video games will cause a child with no other risk factors to turn into
an extremely violent person(Lee). This being said, violent video games are a common risk factor
among adolescents (Cooper). Personal background, peers, neighborhoods, and genetics are other
common risk factors. Combined, these risk factors can cause violent behavior to occur (Calvert).
Continually being exposed to violent acts will eventually lead to violent behavior. Exposure to
violence will cause some form of violence to develop over time. Unnecessary violence, such as
video games, are causing problems that would otherwise not be an issue. For example, in one
study, 161 nine through twelve year old s and 344 college students were randomly assigned to play
either a violent or nonviolent video game throughout a specific amount of time. The participants
played a game against the computer in which they set punishments levels for their opponents.

On Tuesday August 29, 2017 it was my first day of WMST 250. I was nervous and had so many
thoughts and questions running through my mind. I hope my professor is nice, She didn t have

the class material will be? The questions we started off with were about feminism. Before our first
class we were assigned to watch We Should All Be Feminists TED Talk by Chimamanda Ngozi
Adichie. Our first activity was ordering images from least to most feminism. Before I began this
activity I googled the definition of feminism because truthfully I was not familiar with feminism
or feminist. Also one of our first readings was Feminist Politics: Where We Stand by Bell Hooks.
We had several assignments throughout the semester. We had Reading Responses, Museum Visit
Writing Assignment, Presentation in Pairs, Art Activist Intervention, and Final Learning
Analysis. The reading responses allowed students to ask questions and keep the reader engaged
while reading. Personally, if I did not have to create questions from the readings I would not
have been engaged in the reading or read as carefully as I did. The Museum Visit Writing
Assignment allowed students to go outside of their comfort zone because we went to museums
which many of us probably would not have done in our free time. Cara wanted us to feel like we

In Allegory of The Cave, Plato goes on to present the hypothesis that one of the prisoners (who he
often referred to as the philosopher or intellectual) would eventually be released or escape from his

before is truer than what is now shown. As for Neo, when he is finally confronted with the truth
surrounding the matrix, Neo is in a state of confusion and denial. In fact, the realization of the true
is so overwhelming that he throws up and passes out.

Background and Facts of the Case In 1999, Ahmad Edwards attempted to steal a pair of shoes
from a department store. When Edwards realized that a security guard witnessed his attempt, he
pulled out a gun, and fired three shots at the guard (Morris Frierson, 2008). The shots missed the
guard, but one wounded a bystander in the leg. Edwards was then arrested and charged with theft,
criminal recklessness, battery with a deadly weapon, and attempted murder. Edwards, who was
diagnosed with schizophrenia, spent five years restoring competency for his criminal trial (Morris

At his first trial, Edwards requested to represent himself. However, the court denied his request, as

Precedence and judicial creativity
However, given that we need a general account of precedent, we can suggest some overarching
concerns that structure judicial practice. The historical beginnings of the present doctrine of
