Bladder Cancer Research Paper
Bladder Cancer The bladder is a hollow organ in the pelvis with muscular walls. Its main function is
to store the urine. Urine is made by the kidneys. The ureters then carry the urine to the bladder. From
there a long muscular tube called the urethra carries the urine from the bladder to the outside world.
The bladder has several layers which are made up of different types of cells. Bladder cancer starts
when the cells in the urinary bladder start to grow uncontrollably. Most bladder cancers start in the
deepest layer of the bladder which is called the urothelium. If the cancer grows onto the other layers of
the bladder it then becomes more advanced and can be harder to treat. The cancer then may spread
outside the bladder to the lymph nodes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Can bladder cancer be treated? Possibly, with these four treatment plans: surgery, intravesical therapy,
chemotherapy, and/or radiation therapy. Surgery is the most common type people use to get rid of
bladder cancer. Two most common types of surgery people use are Transurethral surgery and a
Cystectomy. Transurethral surgery is when tumors in the bladder are removed through the urethra.
Cystectomy is when part or the entire bladder is removed. A partial cystectomy is when only the tumor
is removed. Close by lymph nodes are also removed. This surgery allows the person to keep part of
their bladder, but it will be smaller so they might have to go more often. The cancer might also come
back in a different part of the bladder (2016 American Cancer Society, Inc). The second treatment for
bladder cancer a person may use is a method called Intravesical therapy. Intravesical therapy is when
the doctor puts a liquid drug into the bladder. By putting the drug into the bladder the cells inside the
bladder will be killed and the cells everywhere else will have no effect. This type of therapy is used
only for early stages of bladder cancer. The third type of treatment is Chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is
killing cancer cells by using drugs. Most chemotherapy drugs are either given by mouth or through a
vein. When the drug enters the bloodstream it spreads through the body.

Areas that Could Be Improved and Avoided in Future Studies...
In 2010 a study was published by Phyllis D. Morgan, Joshua Fogel, Indira D. Tyler, and John R. Jones
titled Culturally Targeted Educational Intervention to Increase Colorectal Health Awareness among
African Americans. This study will be examined following an objective critique of the research
conducted and reported. This analysis will show areas that could be improved and avoided in future
studies and reports.
This study was conducted to increase colonoscopy screening for colorectal cancer (CRC) in African
Americans as well as increase knowledge of CRC and decrease cancer fatalism. This study did clearly
state the four study objectives based off of their literature review. The literature review showed several
studies with increased ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The authors continued with the study by allowing a larger immediate intervention group and a
dramatically smaller delayed control group than envisioned. The delayed control group was only 8%
of the total participants in this study. The authors provided a concise explanation of the differences in
the immediate intervention and the delayed control group. The data analysis stated they used
descriptive statistics for the sample data obtained. The results as described by the author did have
several possible unidentifiable errors particularly in the control group. The results were discussed with
relation to their objectives and the literature review however the analysis was highly focused on the
success of the study and only slightly addressed the limitations of such a small control group in
proportion to the immediate intervention group. The authors went in depth on the ethical consideration
and justification for continuing with the study with the uneven participant groups. The conclusion of
the study demonstrated the authors confidence in the cultural targeting of education for CRC and the
resulting increase in colonoscopy in African Americans.
This study was conducted in a reasonable manner and the limitations were clearly outlined by the
author. However the results

Ad Libitum Observation Essay
After I conducted the first two hours of research using the Ad libitum sampling method, I had fifty
eight different observations for this particular segment. My data is attached to the back of this
document, if you wish to read through each of my comments and how often I recorded. To make it
easier to read I typed up my observations and data into excel. In order to make it easier to analyze I
created a general activity column on my spreadsheet. Which then I used to create a pie chart I called
Ad Libitum Data, which I used to analyze how Bambio spent her time. During this two hour segment
of my observations she spent 17% of the time eating, 22% of the time resting, 38% of the time
sleeping, 18% of the time travelling, and 5% doing other behaviors. ... Show more content on

Each of them gave an accurate account of the events. The Ad libitum data is very detailed and
accounts for every single action I witnessed. It goes into way more detail than my Focal Animal
Instantaneous data. The Focal Animal Instantaneous had a comments column but I used this to right a
brief account of the behavior for each time stamp. While the Ad libitum goes into far more detail. This
is a good thing, but it also could be a bad thing. It makes it much more difficult to analyze, than that of
focal animal instantaneous. The Focal data is much more easy to enter into a chart and tally up, due to
it only recording certain elements, which made it much easier to create charts to analyze it. Where as
with Ad libitum I had to really pick out the general behavior from each entry, and it took a lot more
work just to get a graphical representation. This method would be best if you were looking for an in
depth account of the behavior being witnessed. Whereas it maybe a bit harder to analyze it will give
you a more accurate account. Focal animal instantaneous on the other hand is a much more
streamlined method, which would help you to generalize behavior and make things much easier to
analyze. Neither method is really better, but they are different and serve different

Visit To Temecula, California
I chose Temecula, California because I have always dreamed to visit Temecula. Temecula, California,
a Large city in the southwestern region of the state, is known for skating, wineries, and shopping.
Temecula also has a lot of historical sites to visit. This would be an educational and fun trip.
There is many historical sites in Temecula, California for instance Old Town Temecula, Peltzer farm,
Temecula berry company, and Old Town Temecula jail you know the little things that Temecula is
known for. These sites are all small individual historic structures, but they re what makes up
Temecula.
Temecula is a large city of 106,780 people. That is a lot bigger than what I am use to, Ste.Genevieve,
Missouri there is only 4,405 people. That is not a lot compared to Temecula California. This city has
been around since 1859.
In Temecula there is many tours you can take. Especially tours of wineries. They have other tours like

Personally I would drive to long beach even though it is about an hour and a half away. I d go for the

My overall impression of Temecula, California is that it is a great family place. Also I figured out that
there was more to do than to just go to the skatepark and to go shopping and get a new skateboard. I
notice that there is so much more than I even thought of. Going to Temecula, California would not
only be an amazing vacation, but it is an opportunity to try new things and to learn new things as well.
Old Town Temecula is going to blow your mind.
So in conclusion I would give temecula a 4 out of 5 star rating. This is more of a family city. Temecula
will be my future destination. Hopefully your families could enjoy this at some

Theme Of Nature In Thoreau
discards the language of obedience and redemption used by the church. To Thoreau, Nature and God
are at once synonymous and interconnected: Next to us the grandest laws are continually being
executed. Next to us is not the workman we have hired, with whom we love so well to talk, but the
workman whose work we are. (175) Thoreau believes in a creator god, a living god that makes of
Nature his home. Thoreau feels Nature is a divine space: a space where man is able to feel close to his
god, a space where man is able to appreciate his god s favors and Nature is the space where man can
embrace the god within himself. Influenced by Emerson, Coleridge and Wordsworth, among others,
Thoreau thinks that nature is the source of strength, spirituality ... Show more content on

One would approach at first warily through the shrub oaks, running over the snow crust by fits and
starts like a leaf blown by the wind, now a few paces this way, with wonderful speed and waste of
energy, making inconceivable haste with his trotters, as if it were for a wager, and now as many paces
that way, but never getting on more than half a rod at a time; and then suddenly pausing with a
ludicrous expression and a gratuitous somerset, as if all the eyes in the universe were eyed on him for
all the motions of a squirrel, even in the most solitary recesses of the forest, imply spectators as much
as those of a dancing girl wasting more time in delay and circumspection than would have sufficed to
walk the whole distance I never saw one walk and then suddenly, before you could say Jack
Robinson,he would be in the top of a young pitch pine, winding up his clock and chiding all imaginary
spectators, soliloquizing and talking to all the universe at the same time for no reason that I could ever
detect, or he himself was aware of, I suspect (357). Concurrently, Thoreau projects an image of nature
as a whole, as a distinct, living and essential presence rather than as an accumulation of items to which
man assigns significance. The interconnectedness of the various components of nature is illustrated in
this passage of Walden: Standing at the smooth sandy beach at

Kitchen and Heating Plant
The kitchen, located in the basement, approximately 34 feet by 63 feet in size adjoined the Melody
Lounge on the north side (Shawmut Street). It obviously contained the normal kitchen items.
It was an unfinished room with a concrete floor, walls and ceiling.
Exits were by means of a stairway to the main dining room and by the door into the passageway, and
into the adjoining room occupied by the heating plant, which had an exit to Shawmut Street, called the
service door.
The heating plant was contained in a room approx. 16 feet by 40 feet in size, on the Shawmut Street
Side. It adjoined the kitchen and it contents consisted of a furnace, fired by fuel oil from two 275
gallon storage tanks.
Another section of the basement (on the Piedmont Street side) adjoined the kitchen and the Melody
Lounge, and was used as a storage vault.
Dressing Rooms
In the second class structure (no. 4 6 Shawmut Street), adjoining the first class structure (located
between the main dining room and the Broadway Lounge) on the second and third floors, were located
the dressing rooms used by entertainers employed at the Cocoanut Grove Club.
Entrance to these rooms was from a door leading from the main dining room near the orchestra
platform (on the Shawmut Street side), or from the Shawmut Street by a door at the foot of the
stairway to the second and third floors.

Staphylococcus Aureus ( Mrsa )
Background
Staphylococcus aureus is a gram positive, cluster forming bacterium which shows positive results in
catalase and nitrate reduction tests. It is considered as a harmful pathogen for human and animal
beings and has resistance to many classes of antimicrobial agents. The most important example is
methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), the first clinical isolate, reported at the end of
1960, within a year after the introduction of methicillin (Jevons et al., 1963). Afterwards, it has been
frequently disseminated throughout the world and reported serious hospital associated infections in
1970s.Several MRSA clones have emerged in past four decades, but major hospital acquired MRSA
(HA MRSA)clones identified in five accepted clonal lineages by population genetic studies.
Genotypes within these lineages have developed resistance to all known antibiotics. Besides, some
significant risk factors, like surgery, recent hospitalization and antimicrobial treatment have potential
roles in HA MRSA infection in patients.
While MRSA primarily confined to hospitals and patients along with defined risk factors, reports on
community associated MRSA (CA MRSA) in patients began to publish in early 2000s (Zetola et al.,
2005). CA MRSA isolates identified as a rapidly emerging pathogen and frequently occurred in
previously healthy individuals without the risk factors for HA MRSA. CA MRSA isolates are much
more virulent than HA MRSA that cause rapid tissue necrosis and

Negotiations in India
Introduction
The Negotiable Instruments Act was enacted, in India, in 1881. Prior to its enactment, the provision of
the English Negotiable Instrument Act were applicable in India, and the present Act is also based on

How My Personal Experience And Culture Affect My Parenting...
I would categorize my parenting style as an authoritative because I show the characteristics listed with
this style. An authoritative parent is defined as being firm, setting clear and consistent limits, but who
try to reason with their children, giving explanations for why they should behave in a particular way
(Feldman Landry, 2017, pg. 172). I also want what s best by making sure Bebe Jay grows to be
respectful and friendly and with this style of parenting it is more than likely he will. The authoritative
parenting style is also apart of my personality and beliefs that you should let children be children and
guide them, but to discipline as well if they start to act out inappropriately. It isn t all about raising
them to be good people, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe my experience and culture impact my parenting styles as well. My experience would be the
way my parents raised me, my mother was a authoritarian and my father was permissive. It was an
odd mix but it worked out well, my mother was very strict and I never disobeyed her because I knew
the consequences. She was not abusive, but she had her ways of making sure I did what I was told and
I appreciate it know as I look back. My father was permissive and was the one who would let me get
away with some of the things I did, for example if I snuck an extra cookie from the jar he didn t mind.
He had expectations of me to do what I was told but didn t yell or ever get mad at me if I didn t. They
complimented each other with parenting and it worked out because all of my siblings grew up to be
successful in different ways. The cultural aspect would be growing up in a First Nations reserve, we
have a sense of community and everyone was there for each other s child and to help with whatever
they needed. We were like a big family because almost everyone was related in some way or another. I
believe in the ways of discipline, teaching children to respect women and elders especially but of
course fathers and family as well. Also the way of raising children in terms of giving them love
because to us, children are gifts from the Great

Literary Analysis Of Hercules Delivering Prometheus By...
Hercules Delivering Prometheus, a free standing French sculpture, now in the Art Gallery of Ontario
is cast in bronze by Francois Lespingola. This highly intricate bronze sculpture is an example of
French baroque art, which was created in between 1690 and 1705. The incredible creativity of this
composition and the audacity of its three dimensional conception included a widely known scene from
classic Greek mythology. A series of statuettes on the sculpture depict a display of Hercules freeing
the chained Prometheus from an eagle that comes to pick his liver each day. Lespingola promoted
these effects in grouping multiple figures, optimizing the individual prominence of each figure and
integrating them into one concordant sculpture.

The mixture of realism and idealism allows the sculpture to stand and symbolize other figures at the
same time. These figures have a style of idealism especially the way Hercules and Prometheus look.
They are both very muscular. The muscles have defining curves, showing that the body is flexed and
in action. These ideal human forms also show that the symmetry is not being equal, but the
proportions of these individuals make a whole composition. Furthermore, the male figures are more
human than human. They are idealized in softer cravings with smaller heads and the hair is very
stylized. The movements of the male figures are emphasized in a contrapposto position. Both are
counterposed and weight is shifted on a feet. These shapes come together and give the effect of how
the real body looks like. Moreover, it suggests the figure s characteristics. For example, Hercules s
weight is on his right foot and left foot is placed as a movement. The indication of his dynamic
movement reflects his strong character. Prometheus s kneeing contrapposto position along with his
anxious expression gives an insight that he is trembled with fear. The eagle s fierce eyes, sharp beak
and its threatening gesture show a strong determination of defeating Hercules. The artist inlaid eyes in
all figures which helps to gain more understanding of their emotions. In fact, the

Empathy In Homeless In Black Men And Public Space
In Homeless , Quindlen shows empathy toward homeless people. For example, throughout the story,
Quindlen brings forth points pertaining to how having a home is everything (193). Homeless people
don t experience little things that come with having a home such as having walls and painting them a
color of their own choosing (193). On the other hand, in Black Men Public Space , Staples makes the
reader empathize with him and blacks in general and makes the reader see his perspective. Staples
emphasizes his concern for being considered a threat in public spaces through the use of explicit
language. Staples starts off by saying, My first victim was a woman (197). Using the word victim , he
expresses explicit language and stresses his point of view. Additionally, using the word victim
provides the reader with a different perspective on how the person who is being perceived as being a
threat feels.
The outdoors, which is a public space, is not comforting. As Quindlen says, Home is where the heart
is ; it is a place of certainty, stability, predictability, [and] privacy (193). Home is a private space
surrounded by walls, making people who reside there feel secure. In contrast to Staples, Quindlen uses
implicit language because it is implied that on the other hand, living in a public space can be
threatening because certain public spaces are considered unsafe. Black people in the streets can be
perceived as being one of the many threats, like Staples was. Ironically,

Privacy Is An American Invasion Of Privacy
Introduction
Privacy is an especially equivocal idea, in particularly because invasion of privacy is a concept that is
arguably questionable. Privacy has been defined as the right to be left alone without unwarranted
intrusion by government, media, or other institutions or individuals. While this definition serves as a
quick start to the right of privacy, there are still several interpretations as to what may or may not
constitute as an invasion of privacy. What one person may believe to be an innocent curiosity, another
may feel as though it is a deliberate invasion of privacy. Often these disputes make their way into
courtrooms and are subjected to controversy and evaluation. This essay will focus on appropriation of
name or likeness for commercial purposes. First, it will define the right of privacy, and right of
publicity. Next, the evaluation and discussion of four cases in which appropriation of name or likeness
for commercial gain was assessed in courtrooms. Then after, thoughts on current developments in this
area of law will be discussed, as well as suggestions for current working journalists. Finally, closing
and concluding statements will be addressed.
Background
In the mid twentieth century, the tort of appropriation experienced a shift. Courts reoriented the tort so
that it no longer exclusively protected a person s interest in dignity or privacy, but rather the pecuniary
interest in the commercial exploitation of one s identity, or one s

The Rise and Fall of the Aztec Civilization Essay
The Rise and Fall of the Aztec Civilization
The Rise and fall of the Aztec Empire is possibly the most important area of study in the modern
world. Of all of the nomadic tribes who migrated into Mexico, the Aztecs were one of the last. At first
driven away by established tribes, the Aztecs slowly began to develop an empire of immense wealth
and power by the late fifteenth century. Due in large part to the accomplishments of their ruler

particularly the Cempoala and others from the cities of Tlaxcala and Tezcoca, joined forces with

their best to please them, as the Europeans made their way inland.
By the time Cortes reached Tenochititlan, he had accumulated a large number of allies. Believing that
Cortes was indeed Quetzalcoatl, Montezuma greeted the Spanish as if they were gods. Cortes
responded, We have come to your house in Mexico as friends. There is nothing to fear. Nevertheless,
Cortes kept Montezuma under guard. Instead of resisting, Montezuma did everything he could to
please the Spanish, ordering his servants to supply everything that Cortes requested. Montezuma s
weakness to the Spanish angered many of his followers, who began to lose respect for their king.
Cortes and his men were amazed by the splendor of the Aztec capital. The Spaniards greed would then
lead them to carry out unprovoked attacks on Aztec temples and military leaders. Cortes then had
Montezuma instruct his angry people not to retaliate, declaring that the Spanish were too powerful and
could not be resisted. However, this angered the Aztecs even more, both at the Spanish and
Montezuma. As advanced as the Aztecs were, they were no match for the Spanish forces. The Spanish

Maintaining A Safe Working Environment
Keep Safe We spend more time working that we do with our families. Therefore, it is important to
make friendships, feeling like part of the work family and to have a have a safe work environment.
When an employee is able to do all of these, they will be happy and productive which will help make
the company more successful. There are five steps used when creating a safe work environment.
These are respect the wall, honor others, suspend judgment, value differences and be trustworthy
(Smalley, 2007). This paper will discuss how a coach can create a safe working environment leading
to healthy relationships in the work environment.
Respect the Wall
Respect wall is actually termed the relationship wall and is the first step in creating a safe environment
(Smalley, 2007). When you meet a person for the first time there is usually some guarding of feelings,
emotions and character from the other party. This is done to create a space because the other person
does not know you, nor do they trust you yet. This happens to a new employee when they start a new
job or position. They feel very uncomfortable and out of place in the new surroundings. This is the
perfect opportunit for a company to assign a coach. The coach can do several things to make them feel
like part of the team. These include mentoring, showing them around, introducing them to other
employees, helping with paperwork and discussing them their new responsibilities. However, a coach

Sexism In Visual Arts
I selected Penn State University specifically for their dual degree program in women s studies. My
interest is researching visual culture and imagery of Black female artists expressed in diverse
societies; in everyday life, in art education, and from feminist perspectives. These areas reflect my
general interest both as an artist, educator, and researcher. I have first hand experiences of being
marginalized based one s race and gender, and being stereotyped based on the imagery of black
women in the media.

Angels And Insects Essay
A great Neo Victorian concern was to deconstruct the ideals and myths of the Victorian society and
belief, as they were foolishly enslaved by their own jaundice. The Victorians have made a sidewall to

The aim of this essay consists in illustrating various aspects that were taken over from Victorians and

the multitude of perspectives when it comes to analyzing the characters.
On the one hand, it was quite unusual for a man who lived in the Victorian era to be so sensitive to
female s feelings, to offer her his unconditionally love and compassion, and to be so open minded that
he is seen as a poor fish by narrow minded people. The model of gentleman is, thus, brought back to
its literary meaning, in the sense that William is gentle in thought and action. It may seem that he

comforting for Macon. They have been together for a long time and have a history together. She, at

Introduction Death s Acre is an interseting book to some, but to people like me I did not like it very

Alternative Dispute Resolution Essay
Within the first part of my essay alternative dispute resolution (ADR) will be examined. I will have a
critical look at the key types as well as their usefulness in fulfilling the objective of access to justice.
ADR represents a variety of processes all aiming to resolve disputes between potential litigants out of
court. The parties agree on the type of process used and the independent third party. The main reason
for adopting ADR, however, is dissatisfaction with litigation. Especially after the introduction of new
issue fees that came into force on January 4th , many people are deterred from bringing their disputes
to court by the financial barriers.

A further advantage is the high settlement rate and that the parties normally keep to mediated
agreements, as they have constructively worked on it rather than have a decision imposed on them.
(Data source: http://adrr.com/adr3/other.htm).
The mediator s decision is non binding (except when it is signed) and in the case of a failed mediation,
court, tribunals or other ADR options can be the following steps.
However, this can be a disadvantage because a failing mediation and the following measures can be
very time consuming.
Conciliation has some overlaps with mediation but the conciliator takes a more active role in leading
the parties to a consensus of opinion. The disputants do not usually meet; the conciliator conducts
discussions separately with each party before he gives guidance on settling the dispute. His opinion
then forms the basis of an agreement. The parties are free to agree on this. Concerning employment
disputes, sometimes the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) suggests that disputes
should be settled by means of conciliation. If the process is successful, mediation and conciliation are
good examples for overcoming the problems of litigation and facilitating the ease of access to justice.
Nevertheless, the non binding agreement is the first essential problem of both mediation and
conciliation because a solution is no use when one party does not accept it. The second problem is
that, in the absence of a third

s willingness to go and help an old friend, and thus he nearly lost his life once more. For those not

Upon this injury Grendal returned to his lair where he would die and be welcomed into the depths of

establishment would not become complete until he had beaten the great Grendal s Mother. Which
without going into great detail he did accomplish and was then thanked once more by Hrothgar, and

An Analysis Of Astrophil And Stella By Sir Philip Sidney
How can we record a love so deep it lasts a life time? In Astrophil and Stella, Sir Philip Sidney does
just this, creating a chronological sequence of 108 sonnets, depicting the longing and futile adoration
of the speaker Astrophil towards his love interest Stella. It has been widely noted that the sonnets may
be a reflection of Sidney s own life, after his infamous love of Penelope Devereux following their
meeting in 1575, which is said to have lasted through her marriage to another man, and up until his
untimely death in 1583. Sonnet 31, the sonnet I will be mainly discussing in this essay, is undeniably
the most famous of Sidney s sonnets. This sonnet utilises Sidney s favourite Italian rhyme scheme
ABBA CDCD EE, paired with his preferred Italian sonnet style, including an octave, followed by a
sestet, and a turn in line 8. This writing style not native to the English Language displays Sidney s
mastery in conveying his emotional anguish a skill which elevates him as a loved and dearly missed
poet of the Elizabethan era. The poem employs iambic pentameter, showing Sidney s marriage of
typically English meter with a continental writing style, which creates a beautifully complex narrative
of a pining love. The strict meter creates a steady and somewhat lyrical rhyme scheme, which adds a
romantic essence of sound to the sonnet, almost as if Astrophil is attempting to serenade Stella
throughout the collection of poetry, unfortunately, to no avail. Sonnet 31

The battle of the bulge was Hitler s last chance to win the war or at least make the allies go for a

who had superior numbers but the bold moved worked and Hitler thought he could do the same thing.

During the War Eisenhower and his staff felt this spot was the least likely to be attacked. The thought

the resulting inflammation. However, clinical evaluations of these systems have reported only slightly
improved reproducibility when compared with conventional probing, although not clinically

never been released for general use. One of these systems is the electronic probe described by Jeffcoat

detection of the cemento enamel junction from which the clinical attachment level is automatically

stuck, so you may need help. While all of these are great, my favorite run is a drop off. This is a
vertical drop about five feet down, followed by a steep, powdery, challenging run. These are ones that
you almost always have to hike to, and the most dangerous slope requires a hike up a very steep
incline. These are the only slopes I haven t been on, and are extremely steep, narrow, one person at a

My Career In Energy Technology And Surface Chemistry
Background My career in energy technology and surface chemistry began in 2012, when I started my
master s coursework and research in electrochemistry at the University of Louisville s Department of
Chemistry. Since then I have developed an extensive skillset, focusing mainly on the development and
usage of semiconductor materials such as titanium oxide (TiO2), tin oxide (SnO2), birnessite
manganese oxide (b MnO2), and neodymium oxide (Nd2O3). I have extensively studied the
photophysics and photochemistry of energetic nanomaterials in order to explore the fundamentals of
charge transfer dynamics, catalytic properties, and mechanisms for the conversion of solar energy to
electric energy to produce renewable electricity. Later in my doctoral ... Show more content on

Understanding the basic science behind any new technology is the backbone for further development
for commercialization. I chemically linked gold nanoparticles and a molecular conductor to prepare
high efficiency solar cells. Recently, I employed the hybrid structure of rare earth materials and TiO2
nanoparticles as another strategy in the development of high efficiency solar cells. Rare earth
materials are new to the research in solar cells. The current guidelines for the preparation of solar cells
in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Louisville are based directly on my research. My
work on lithium ion batteries, where I prepared mesoporous b MnO2 as a cathode material, has been
heavily cited world widely and becoming a guideline for innovative new energy storage devices. After
completing my doctoral degree at the University of Louisville, I turned my focus to the surface
chemistry of nanomaterials for preparing bioconjugates, a continuation of my work on surface
chemistry on nanomaterials during my postdoctoral research. In another work during the postdoctoral
research period, I was able to publish a work on dielectrophoresis manipulation of metal nanoparticles
to increase substantially the amount of frequency of collisions (by the factor of 101 103) of the metal
nanoparticles with an ultramicroelectrode (Analytical Chemistry, articles ASAP, 08/07/2017). This

Examples Of Classism In The Outsiders
Classism was a big part of the 60s and with Ponyboy and the gang, it comes into play in more than
one way. The Outsiders, based in the 1960s Oklahoma, is about two gangs, the Greasers and the
Socials. The Greasers were lower class, lower income people who were relatively rough around the
edges while the Socials were the West side rich kids who went around getting drunk and jumping
Greasers. The book is about the conflicts that these two groups have, either with each other or inside
of their own group. In S.E. Hinton s novel, The Outsiders, many of the conflicts and hardships in the
community are caused by the Socials (Socs). The killing of Bob had many different sides but from the
side of the Greasers, it was what they had to do. One example of this was that Johnny was justified in
killing Bob. In the text it states, They were drowning you, Pony. They might have killed you (pg. 50
pdf). This shows that Johnny killed the Bob in self defense and that if they hadn t been drowning
Pony, he probably wouldn t have done it. The text explains, Johnny getting ... Show more content on

For example, the Socials were responsible for starting the rumble. The text states, Darry turned to see
who it was, and Paul swung a hard right to the jaw that would have felled anyone but Darry. The
rumble was on (pg. 122 pdf). This shows that the first shot of the rumble was taken by a Soc so
therefor, they were the ones who started the rumble. Another example would be that the Socials were
responsible for Johnny s death. The text also states, I held him like Soda had held him the day we
found him lying in the lot (pg. 64 pdf). If you look in the book, you will see that none of what
happened would have happened if it hadn t been for the Socs trying to beat up Johnny and Ponyboy. It
really wouldn t have been possible to prevent the rumble or Johnny s death, especially with the Socs in
the situation that they are

How Is Paul Von Hindenburg A Hero
Paul Von Hindenburg was a renowned military and political leader for Germany; he is most notable
for being a distinguished Field Marshal for the Imperial German Army during WWI, and being the
second president of the Weimar republic. His military hero status was essential for his ability to garner
support from the German public. His monarchistic views were highly influential in shaping the
government while he was reigning as president, and as a result of his seat of presidency, he was a
major determining factor in the eventual fate of the republic. Born 1847, as Paul Ludwig Hans Anton
von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg in Prussia to an aristocrat father; Robert von Beneckendorff
und von Hindenburg, and his wife; Luise Schwickart, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During and after the war, Hindenburg was seen as a national hero, and was considered to have
embodied all of the positive characteristics of the collective German people. While the appeal of
Hindenburg was present throughout all social classes, religions, and political view points, it was the
German right wing political groups which idolised Hindenburg the most; seeing him as a portrayal of
classic Prussian ethics, and Lutheran and Junker values. Despite this support for Hindenburg
personally at the home front, support for the war itself was dwindling, and after General Ludendorf s
failed spring offensive, the situation seemed hopeless for the German military. With conditions on the
home front worsening, and realising the dire situation Germany faced in the war, on the 29th
September 1918; General Hindenburg, General Ludendorf and the Kaiser Wilhelm II agreed to
establish a new democratic government in Germany to replace the current form of government. In
spite of this seeming like a victory for the democrats in Germany, it has been argued that this was just
an effort to deflect blame for the inevitable defeat at the hands of the allies to left wing elements on
the home front. As historian Douglas Newton states; The intentions of the ruling elite... were quite
transparent: ... to smother the prospect of a more thorough revolution from below and to deflect
responsibility for the military defeat on

Argumentative Essay On Anti Depressants
Depression is a serious mental disorder that may be displayed by major episodes of sadness,
restlessness, and loss of interest. Depression has several symptoms such as excessive sleep, increased
or loss of appetite, aches, cramps, insomnia, and fatigue. It can affect anyone of all ages and may not
be recognizable for those who are experiencing it. A medication called anti depressants helps treat
depression by altering the serotonin receptors levels. There are several types of anti depressant
medications such as Abilify, Celexa, Aplenzin, Asendin, and many more. There are individuals that
may argue that anti depressants are an over prescribed medications. They believe that this medication
can affect the patient s mental status and inhibit self control with this addictive drug. On the other
hand, the opposition may argue that anti depressants are not overly prescribed and that it should not be
problematic because it is an accessible, helpful, and a quicker treatment. The debate of whether anti
depressants are an over prescribed medication has been an ongoing controversial issue as evidenced
by statements of supporters and those in opposition.
According to Wehrwein (2011), statistics usage of antidepressants demonstrated that 23% of women
between ages of 40 to 50 take antidepressants as compared to other age groups. Wehrwein mentioned
that 14% of non Hispanic white people use antidepressants more often compared to 4% of Hispanics
and 3% of Mexican Americans.

French Republican Calendar Dbq
The French Republican Calendar
During the French Revolution the National Convention started defacing the French Catholic Church
with the goal to decrease its influence and power. In this effort in doing so, the National Convention
made a new calendar to replace the Gregorian calendar in which they implemented their own ideas
and changed the days, months, and holidays. The French Republican calendar lasted for 12 years and
much opinions and reactions were formed during, and after its creation. Gilbert Rommes argument to
as of why the Gregorian calendar should be replaced was that the calendar was made by ignorant
people(Document 1). His reasoning was that they shouldn t be living off a calendar that was created
by ignorance, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Abbe Sieyes believed that the time wasn t right to make any changes to the Gregorian calendar. For it
would only create, not only a division between the Catholic Church, but their country neighbors and
might result in a wall between them that they won t be able to solve(Document 2). When the
Gregorian calendar made its return in 1806 it was appreciated and hated(Document 7). For Napoleon,
the French Republican calendar was a sad and weak decade in which festivals weren t even dedicated
to the to the charity. In Doc 4, it shows how the peasants were unhappy about the new calendar for it
increase their labor days to nine days. This was hard on them because they had to work for nine days
straight and even the best of them couldn t handle it. Jacobins have damaged the church made the first
Pope of deism and now the calendar was just an act of absolutism. For Pierre Joseph Denis, it was
clear that the Jacobins have gone to far as to making a new calendar, such act was an exercise of
absolute power(Doc 5). As for Document, it points out how the festivals were offensive and had
nothing but images of crucifixes and such and no sign of liberty or

Essay On Mojave Desert
When living in the Mojave desert people have started to keep track of what s bringing the ecosystem
down. In the Mojave desert the threats are mostly affecting the plants and animals. One of the more
worrying threats is the invasive plants or otherwise known as alien plants. The invasive plants come in
and destroy ecosystems while including all plants, animals, and insects. There are many different
types of invasive plants in the Mojave desert, but some cause a bigger change.
The plants invading the Mojave desert are usually weeds that the animals or weather spread their
seeds. The worst invaders are the Saharan Mustard and or the tumble weed. These are the worst
invaders of all of the Mojave desert. Nevertheless, the Saharan Mustard is one ... Show more content

Moreover, the natives give food to the other animals in the ecosystem, including birds, tortoises, and
or insects. The Mojave desert natives are dying as the result of the Saharan Mustard taking all of their
resources. The Mojave desert tortoises are affected by the reason of they are herbivores, an animal that
consumes only plants, and so they need the natives to survive. Consequently, this sets off a chain
reaction in the web, and it affects everything in that ecosystem. The chain reaction is set off because
what affects one plant or animal affects everything else. Moreover, the Saharan Mustard is a rapid
seed dispenser, and it does not help that the ants that live in the Mojave desert love the seeds.
Consequently, this is more problematic to get rid of the invader.
Moreover, When walking around, and happen to see a Saharan Mustard plant it should be pulled out
of the ground. Plus, learning the destruction the Saharan Mustard can cause people getting together in
fair sized groups picking the weed out. The Morongo Basin can be restored if everyone would help
with removing the weeds. Invasive plants in the Mojave desert should be controlled and dealt with.
Conversely, the Saharan Mustard being removed alone can cause a change in the

Symbolism In My Sister s Keeper
Fire a metaphor of life
The book I have read is called My sister s keeper, and is written by Jodi Picoult. It is about a family of
five, with two daughters and a son. Their oldest daughter, Kate, got leukemia when she was two years
old, and her parents decided to have another child to save her. The newborn baby, Anna, was used to
donate blood to Kate. Eventually, when Anna is older she decides to sue her parents for the rights of
her own body, when she is told to donate a kidney to her sister. Through the book we also meet the
sister s older brother, Jesse, as well as their parents, Brian and Sarah, Anna s lawyer, Campbell, and
her guardian ad litem, Julia. Fire is a central theme in the book, and is used as a metaphor in many
different ways. First we can read different quotes about fire as we go trough the book. Secondly we
hear their father s description of fire on page 141, and lastly how we interpret fire ourselves.
There are at least ten quotes about fire in the book. The quote on page 71 is my favorite quote in the
book, because I feel that it describes the family s situation, as well as making you read between the
lines after a deeper meaning.
I will read ashes for you, if you ask me.
I will look in the fire and tell you from the gray lashes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fire starts out small, like when we are born. When the fire grows we grow as well. At that time the fire
is so small that our parents can control us. Suddenly we are teenagers and the fire is no longer under
the same control. We try different stuff and we meet different people. We get hurt, and the fire only
grows more. As we reach adulthood, some stabilize the fire more or less, but there will be times in life
where you no longer can control it. Getting old, the fire burns out, and when the fire dies, so do we.
The ashes that remains are our story from our lives we had down at earth, some are remembered more

How Does Media Affect Children

A report on parents, children and the media by Lucy McCarraher for the Parenting Education Support
Forum in association with the NSPCC, Family Circle magazine and Glasgow Media Group
Parenting Education Support Forum
The Parenting Education Support Forum brings together those concerned with or working in the field
of preparation, education and support for parents. It promotes and maintains a high profile for
parenting education and support, where education means learning in the fullest sense: of growing in
knowledge, skills, understanding and personal development. The
Forum presses for effective policies and practice at local and national level with the aim of serving the
best interests of all children and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Encouraged by the results, Hetty
Einzig, Development Director of the Parenting Forum, and I raised some funds for a more substantial
study. The Parenting Education Support Forum funded Lucy McCarraher, whose combined experience
in the media, research and parenting issues was highly appropriate, to conduct a research project into
Parents and the Media . We were pleased also to work with Greg Philo who helped devise the
questionnaire, the Glasgow Media Group who analysed results and
Family Circle magazine, who ran the questionnaire in the May 1998 edition and have published the
results. These project partners encouraged us to add a section about parents views of media influence
on their children. The responses to this show how powerfully parents find the media affects their
children.
The results of the survey and the focus groups Lucy conducted were even more positive than we had
expected or hoped for. As anyone in regular contact with parents knows, mothers, fathers and other
carers take their responsibilities extremely seriously, as well as finding them on balance enjoyable and
deeply fulfilling. They are keen to have more accessible information and look to the media

  • 3. Bladder Cancer Research Paper Bladder Cancer The bladder is a hollow organ in the pelvis with muscular walls. Its main function is to store the urine. Urine is made by the kidneys. The ureters then carry the urine to the bladder. From there a long muscular tube called the urethra carries the urine from the bladder to the outside world. The bladder has several layers which are made up of different types of cells. Bladder cancer starts when the cells in the urinary bladder start to grow uncontrollably. Most bladder cancers start in the deepest layer of the bladder which is called the urothelium. If the cancer grows onto the other layers of the bladder it then becomes more advanced and can be harder to treat. The cancer then may spread outside the bladder to the lymph nodes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Can bladder cancer be treated? Possibly, with these four treatment plans: surgery, intravesical therapy, chemotherapy, and/or radiation therapy. Surgery is the most common type people use to get rid of bladder cancer. Two most common types of surgery people use are Transurethral surgery and a Cystectomy. Transurethral surgery is when tumors in the bladder are removed through the urethra. Cystectomy is when part or the entire bladder is removed. A partial cystectomy is when only the tumor is removed. Close by lymph nodes are also removed. This surgery allows the person to keep part of their bladder, but it will be smaller so they might have to go more often. The cancer might also come back in a different part of the bladder (2016 American Cancer Society, Inc). The second treatment for bladder cancer a person may use is a method called Intravesical therapy. Intravesical therapy is when the doctor puts a liquid drug into the bladder. By putting the drug into the bladder the cells inside the bladder will be killed and the cells everywhere else will have no effect. This type of therapy is used only for early stages of bladder cancer. The third type of treatment is Chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is killing cancer cells by using drugs. Most chemotherapy drugs are either given by mouth or through a vein. When the drug enters the bloodstream it spreads through the body. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jones titled Culturally Targeted Educational Intervention to Increase Colorectal Health Awareness among African Americans. This study will be examined following an objective critique of the research conducted and reported. This analysis will show areas that could be improved and avoided in future studies and reports. The authors continued with the study by allowing a larger immediate intervention group and a dramatically smaller delayed control group than envisioned. The delayed control group was only 8% of the total participants in this study. The authors provided a concise explanation of the differences in the immediate intervention and the delayed control group. The data analysis stated they used descriptive statistics for the sample data obtained. The results as described by the author did have several possible unidentifiable errors particularly in the control group. The results were discussed with relation to their objectives and the literature review however the analysis was highly focused on the success of the study and only slightly addressed the limitations of such a small control group in proportion to the immediate intervention group. The authors went in depth on the ethical consideration and justification for continuing with the study with the uneven participant groups. The conclusion of the study demonstrated the authors confidence in the cultural targeting of education for CRC and the resulting increase in colonoscopy in African Americans. This study was conducted in a reasonable manner and the limitations were clearly outlined by the author. However the results ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My data is attached to the back of this document, if you wish to read through each of my comments and how often I recorded. To make it easier to read I typed up my observations and data into excel. In order to make it easier to analyze I created a general activity column on my spreadsheet. Which then I used to create a pie chart I called Ad Libitum Data, which I used to analyze how Bambio spent her time. During this two hour segment of my observations she spent 17% of the time eating, 22% of the time resting, 38% of the time sleeping, 18% of the time travelling, and 5% doing other behaviors. ... It goes into way more detail than my Focal Animal Instantaneous data. The Focal Animal Instantaneous had a comments column but I used this to right a brief account of the behavior for each time stamp. While the Ad libitum goes into far more detail. This is a good thing, but it also could be a bad thing. It makes it much more difficult to analyze, than that of focal animal instantaneous. The Focal data is much more easy to enter into a chart and tally up, due to it only recording certain elements, which made it much easier to create charts to analyze it. Where as with Ad libitum I had to really pick out the general behavior from each entry, and it took a lot more work just to get a graphical representation. This method would be best if you were looking for an in depth account of the behavior being witnessed. Whereas it maybe a bit harder to analyze it will give you a more accurate account. Focal animal instantaneous on the other hand is a much more streamlined method, which would help you to generalize behavior and make things much easier to analyze. • 10. Theme Of Nature In Thoreau discards the language of obedience and redemption used by the church. To Thoreau, Nature and God are at once synonymous and interconnected: Next to us the grandest laws are continually being executed. Next to us is not the workman we have hired, with whom we love so well to talk, but the workman whose work we are. (175) Thoreau believes in a creator god, a living god that makes of Nature his home. Thoreau feels Nature is a divine space: a space where man is able to feel close to his god, a space where man is able to appreciate his god s favors and Nature is the space where man can embrace the god within himself. The most important example is methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), the first clinical isolate, reported at the end of 1960, within a year after the introduction of methicillin (Jevons et al., 1963). Afterwards, it has been frequently disseminated throughout the world and reported serious hospital associated infections in 1970s.Several MRSA clones have emerged in past four decades, but major hospital acquired MRSA (HA MRSA)clones identified in five accepted clonal lineages by population genetic studies. While MRSA primarily confined to hospitals and patients along with defined risk factors, reports on community associated MRSA (CA MRSA) in patients began to publish in early 2000s (Zetola et al., 2005). These ideal human forms also show that the symmetry is not being equal, but the proportions of these individuals make a whole composition. Furthermore, the male figures are more human than human. They are idealized in softer cravings with smaller heads and the hair is very stylized. The movements of the male figures are emphasized in a contrapposto position. Both are counterposed and weight is shifted on a feet. These shapes come together and give the effect of how the real body looks like. Moreover, it suggests the figure s characteristics. For example, throughout the story, Quindlen brings forth points pertaining to how having a home is everything (193). Homeless people don t experience little things that come with having a home such as having walls and painting them a color of their own choosing (193). On the other hand, in Black Men Public Space , Staples makes the reader empathize with him and blacks in general and makes the reader see his perspective. Staples emphasizes his concern for being considered a threat in public spaces through the use of explicit language. Staples starts off by saying, My first victim was a woman (197). Using the word victim , he expresses explicit language and stresses his point of view. Additionally, using the word victim provides the reader with a different perspective on how the person who is being perceived as being a threat feels. The outdoors, which is a public space, is not comforting. As Quindlen says, Home is where the heart is ; it is a place of certainty, stability, predictability, [and] privacy (193). Privacy has been defined as the right to be left alone without unwarranted intrusion by government, media, or other institutions or individuals. While this definition serves as a quick start to the right of privacy, there are still several interpretations as to what may or may not constitute as an invasion of privacy. What one person may believe to be an innocent curiosity, another may feel as though it is a deliberate invasion of privacy. Often these disputes make their way into courtrooms and are subjected to controversy and evaluation. This essay will focus on appropriation of name or likeness for commercial purposes. First, it will define the right of privacy, and right of publicity. Next, the evaluation and discussion of four cases in which appropriation of name or likeness for commercial gain was assessed in courtrooms. Then after, thoughts on current developments in this area of law will be discussed, as well as suggestions for current working journalists. Finally, closing and concluding statements will be addressed. Background In the mid twentieth century, the tort of appropriation experienced a shift. Of all of the nomadic tribes who migrated into Mexico, the Aztecs were one of the last. At first driven away by established tribes, the Aztecs slowly began to develop an empire of immense wealth and power by the late fifteenth century. Due in large part to the accomplishments of their ruler Itzcoatl, the empire expanded to include millions of people from a number of different tribes, including the Cempoala, who would later aid the Spanish in defeating the Aztecs. By the time Cortes reached Tenochititlan, he had accumulated a large number of allies. Believing that Cortes was indeed Quetzalcoatl, Montezuma greeted the Spanish as if they were gods. Cortes responded, We have come to your house in Mexico as friends. There is nothing to fear. Nevertheless, Cortes kept Montezuma under guard. Instead of resisting, Montezuma did everything he could to please the Spanish, ordering his servants to supply everything that Cortes requested. Montezuma s weakness to the Spanish angered many of his followers, who began to lose respect for their king. Cortes and his men were amazed by the splendor of the Aztec capital. The Spaniards greed would then lead them to carry out unprovoked attacks on Aztec temples and military leaders. Cortes then had Montezuma instruct his angry people not to retaliate, declaring that the Spanish were too powerful and could not be resisted. When an employee is able to do all of these, they will be happy and productive which will help make the company more successful. There are five steps used when creating a safe work environment. These are respect the wall, honor others, suspend judgment, value differences and be trustworthy (Smalley, 2007). This paper will discuss how a coach can create a safe working environment leading to healthy relationships in the work environment. Respect the Wall Respect wall is actually termed the relationship wall and is the first step in creating a safe environment (Smalley, 2007). When you meet a person for the first time there is usually some guarding of feelings, emotions and character from the other party. This is done to create a space because the other person does not know you, nor do they trust you yet. This happens to a new employee when they start a new job or position. They feel very uncomfortable and out of place in the new surroundings. This is the perfect opportunit for a company to assign a coach. The coach can do several things to make them feel like part of the team. These include mentoring, showing them around, introducing them to other employees, helping with paperwork and discussing them their new responsibilities. However, a coach can not come in with a ... ADR represents a variety of processes all aiming to resolve disputes between potential litigants out of court. The parties agree on the type of process used and the independent third party. The main reason for adopting ADR, however, is dissatisfaction with litigation. A further advantage is the high settlement rate and that the parties normally keep to mediated agreements, as they have constructively worked on it rather than have a decision imposed on them. The mediator s decision is non binding (except when it is signed) and in the case of a failed mediation, court, tribunals or other ADR options can be the following steps. However, this can be a disadvantage because a failing mediation and the following measures can be very time consuming. Conciliation has some overlaps with mediation but the conciliator takes a more active role in leading the parties to a consensus of opinion. The disputants do not usually meet; the conciliator conducts discussions separately with each party before he gives guidance on settling the dispute. His opinion then forms the basis of an agreement. The parties are free to agree on this. Concerning employment disputes, sometimes the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) suggests that disputes should be settled by means of conciliation. If the process is successful, mediation and conciliation are good examples for overcoming the problems of litigation and facilitating the ease of access to justice. Nevertheless, the non binding agreement is the first essential problem of both mediation and conciliation because a solution is no use when one party does not accept it. • 36. An Analysis Of Astrophil And Stella By Sir Philip Sidney How can we record a love so deep it lasts a life time? In Astrophil and Stella, Sir Philip Sidney does just this, creating a chronological sequence of 108 sonnets, depicting the longing and futile adoration of the speaker Astrophil towards his love interest Stella. It has been widely noted that the sonnets may be a reflection of Sidney s own life, after his infamous love of Penelope Devereux following their meeting in 1575, which is said to have lasted through her marriage to another man, and up until his untimely death in 1583. Sonnet 31, the sonnet I will be mainly discussing in this essay, is undeniably the most famous of Sidney s sonnets. This sonnet utilises Sidney s favourite Italian rhyme scheme ABBA CDCD EE, paired with his preferred Italian sonnet style, including an octave, followed by a sestet, and a turn in line 8. This writing style not native to the English Language displays Sidney s mastery in conveying his emotional anguish a skill which elevates him as a loved and dearly missed poet of the Elizabethan era. The poem employs iambic pentameter, showing Sidney s marriage of typically English meter with a continental writing style, which creates a beautifully complex narrative of a pining love. The strict meter creates a steady and somewhat lyrical rhyme scheme, which adds a romantic essence of sound to the sonnet, almost as if Astrophil is attempting to serenade Stella throughout the collection of poetry, unfortunately, to no avail. • 43. How Is Paul Von Hindenburg A Hero Paul Von Hindenburg was a renowned military and political leader for Germany; he is most notable for being a distinguished Field Marshal for the Imperial German Army during WWI, and being the second president of the Weimar republic. His military hero status was essential for his ability to garner support from the German public. His monarchistic views were highly influential in shaping the government while he was reigning as president, and as a result of his seat of presidency, he was a major determining factor in the eventual fate of the republic. During and after the war, Hindenburg was seen as a national hero, and was considered to have embodied all of the positive characteristics of the collective German people. While the appeal of Hindenburg was present throughout all social classes, religions, and political view points, it was the German right wing political groups which idolised Hindenburg the most; seeing him as a portrayal of classic Prussian ethics, and Lutheran and Junker values. Despite this support for Hindenburg personally at the home front, support for the war itself was dwindling, and after General Ludendorf s failed spring offensive, the situation seemed hopeless for the German military. With conditions on the home front worsening, and realising the dire situation Germany faced in the war, on the 29th September 1918; General Hindenburg, General Ludendorf and the Kaiser Wilhelm II agreed to establish a new democratic government in Germany to replace the current form of government. In spite of this seeming like a victory for the democrats in Germany, it has been argued that this was just an effort to deflect blame for the inevitable defeat at the hands of the allies to left wing elements on the home front. As historian Douglas Newton states; The intentions of the ruling elite... were quite transparent: ... to smother the prospect of a more thorough revolution from below and to deflect responsibility for the military defeat on ... Moreover, the natives give food to the other animals in the ecosystem, including birds, tortoises, and or insects. The Mojave desert natives are dying as the result of the Saharan Mustard taking all of their resources. The Mojave desert tortoises are affected by the reason of they are herbivores, an animal that consumes only plants, and so they need the natives to survive. Consequently, this sets off a chain reaction in the web, and it affects everything in that ecosystem. The chain reaction is set off because what affects one plant or animal affects everything else. Moreover, the Saharan Mustard is a rapid seed dispenser, and it does not help that the ants that live in the Mojave desert love the seeds. Consequently, this is more problematic to get rid of the invader. Moreover, When walking around, and happen to see a Saharan Mustard plant it should be pulled out of the ground. • 49. Symbolism In My Sister s Keeper Fire a metaphor of life The book I have read is called My sister s keeper, and is written by Jodi Picoult. It is about a family of five, with two daughters and a son. Their oldest daughter, Kate, got leukemia when she was two years old, and her parents decided to have another child to save her. The newborn baby, Anna, was used to donate blood to Kate. Eventually, when Anna is older she decides to sue her parents for the rights of her own body, when she is told to donate a kidney to her sister. Through the book we also meet the sister s older brother, Jesse, as well as their parents, Brian and Sarah, Anna s lawyer, Campbell, and her guardian ad litem, Julia. Fire is a central theme in the book, and is used as a metaphor in many different ways. First we can read different quotes about fire as we go trough the book. Secondly we hear their father s description of fire on page 141, and lastly how we interpret fire ourselves. There are at least ten quotes about fire in the book. The quote on page 71 is my favorite quote in the book, because I feel that it describes the family s situation, as well as making you read between the lines after a deeper meaning. Encouraged by the results, Hetty Einzig, Development Director of the Parenting Forum, and I raised some funds for a more substantial study. The Parenting Education Support Forum funded Lucy McCarraher, whose combined experience in the media, research and parenting issues was highly appropriate, to conduct a research project into Parents and the Media . We were pleased also to work with Greg Philo who helped devise the questionnaire, the Glasgow Media Group who analysed results and Family Circle magazine, who ran the questionnaire in the May 1998 edition and have published the results. These project partners encouraged us to add a section about parents views of media influence on their children. The responses to this show how powerfully parents find the media affects their children. The results of the survey and the focus groups Lucy conducted were even more positive than we had expected or hoped for. As anyone in regular contact with parents knows, mothers, fathers and other carers take their responsibilities extremely seriously, as well as finding them on balance enjoyable and deeply fulfilling. They are keen to have more accessible information and look to the media ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
