What Is Effectuation Theory Account For Marketing...
To what extent does Effectuation theory account for marketing decisions made by entrepreneurs for
establishing and building products/services in a new market?
Abstract
Marketing compliments a product, the corporate identity and their relationship with the audience.
Success is dependent on consumer satisfaction marketing helps orient strategic business thinking in
this direction, in a relatively hostile environment saturated by competition. Albeit a start up s growth
style and structure at its early stages make it difficult to apply textbook marketing techniques. Some of
the more prominent issues around this include an absent brand presence, the affordance of risk taking
and expenditure flexibility. This paper aims to understand what ... Show more content on

The number of possible outcomes are infinite, with the tools readily available, which is incredibly
important if you are a first mover in a market choices made at this stage will set an example that
market space, and quality to match for others.
Entrepreneurs may have restrictions with tools and resources, yet possess enough flexibility to
experiment in their field. This is not only applicable from a product development standpoint, but also
for marketing decisions. Success is an achievement on the premise that the product/service has been
proved reputable by consumers.
What are the areas of Effectuation theory?
Effectuation is analogous to giving a carpenter a toolbox and some wood and asked to build whatever
he or she chooses as opposed to asking them to build a desk (Sarasvathy, 2001a) the latter is
considered as casual reasoning or causation, where a predetermined goal is provided at the start with a
set of means to an end (Sarasvathy, 2001b). It is, in fact, far more convoluted than suggested yet the
example highlights a key element of effectuation that it demands creative prowess in the form of
imagination, spontaneity, risk taking and salesmanship (Sarasvathy, 2001b).

Analysis Of Sarah Vaughan Snyder s Raising A Feminist
Despite men and women being very different from one another, should we treat them differently? In
the text Raising a Feminist by Sarah Vaughan Snyder, the author deals with the main theme of gender
equality in our society. She tries to illustrate that, if we re trying to eradicate sexism, it s vital to
provide younger generations with a positive and non stereotypical image of women. The author proves
her point by exploring the past prejudices that women suffered, the current role of women in our
society and the ways we can educate children to be less prone to a sexist philosophy. Snyder refers to
various examples, characters, and contrast to illustrate her theme.
First of all, we must understand how a woman was regarded in our society in the past to comprehend
the improvement that occurred. Snyder shows that barely a few decades ago, a women s gender
diminished the opportunities she had because it was only expected of her to be capable of completing
certain tasks. That instilled the notion of women being inferior to man, and this comes to show the
prominence of the sexist mentality of the past. Take the example of a girl in junior high who had to
show how to perform a task to her classmate and was given a C for her presentation. The reason
behind her grade was due to her choosing to show how to wrap a gift, and her teacher thought the
demonstration was useful to only half of the class . That event occurred a few decades ago and
allowed us to witness the difference in

Sales and Carbon Dioxide Essay examples
Dracca became aware that one of its competitors, TrendBaby, Inc., was soliciting information from
one of Dracca s employees, Bob Shumaster. Shumaster was apparently detailing product assembly
information that was unique to Dracca and explaining to TrendBaby how this assembly strategy saved
Dracca thousands of dollars each month. Dracca discovered that TrendBaby actually hired Shumaster
to provide this information, and that Shumaster was using Dracca company computers to relay the
proprietary information to TrendBaby via email.
Meanwhile, Sally May, a sales representative for Dracca ran into her neighbor who is a sales

Total Quality Management At Kiichiro Toyoda
The main pillars in the model resemble the total quality control or total quality management of the
company that can best be summarized in this pyramid illustration.
Total quality management means that everyone is involved in continuously refining the service to
customers with data and profound knowledge. Kiichiro Toyoda made customers a huge priority in his
theory. The base of the pyramid consisted of the costs of gaining quality, processing services, testing,
tools, and prevention. The second level of the pyramid is involvement, which examines the rewards,
acknowledgment, training, empowerment, and partnerships within the company. The third level is
leadership that deals with talks about the ownership, management support, and the corporation s
mission plan. The next level is culture, which explains the values and continuous improvement made
by the employees. Finally the top of the pyramid is total quality management, which encompasses the
main goal of being a customer driven company. Toyoda s primary viewpoints in his system embrace
the theories of just in time and Jidoka. Just in time (JIT) focuses on productivity improvement with the
main idea being, making only what is needed, when it is needed, and in the amount needed . The main
goal for JIT was to effectively build a car within the shortest possible amount of time by obeying four
guidelines. The first rule states that when the first order is established it must be brought to the start of
the assembly line as

Decision Making Models In Hal Rainey s Understanding And...
In the context of public organizations, there are a number of decision making models that can applied
to the actions of these organizations. In his book Understanding and Managing Public Organizations,
Hal Rainey outlines a number of different theories of organizational decision making that explain why
organizations do what they do. The three most prominent theories he describes are rational decision
making, incremental decision making, and mixed scanning. Each of these will be discussed in depth
for their merit and shortfalls. Rational decision making is the first and simplest method of making
decisions. It is the least complex model of decision making and it has essentially four baseline factors
that play into it. According to Rainey, rational decision making takes place when the actor making
decisions is aware of and understands the goal that he or she is trying to complete. In addition, the
actor must be able to determine the importance of the goals being evaluated and then prioritize them
accordingly. After this has been done the actor looks at and evaluates all the different ways that a goal
can be accomplished, and as a result the actor chooses the action that accomplishes the target goal the
most efficiently and effectively. Due to the often times, complex and politically volatile nature of the
public sector, rational decision making models are best applied to less important decisions. For
example, a rational decision making model can be applied to day to day

Genre Theory
Genre and Genre Film
Introduction to Film
Rachel Kamrowski
Instructor Day
5/2/2016
Genre Theory is used in the categorization of films. Genres are dependent on various factors such as
story line, whom the director is, and what are the audience expectations In using genre theory we
create a short cut in how we describe films. Genres are categorized into and then sub categorized
depending on the story and plot. Fantasy is a genre described as, Any film with obviously unreal,
magical, or impossible situations, characters, or settings, often overlapping with various other genres,
especially science fiction, but sometimes historical dramas. (Goodykoontz, 2014) Fantasy is a genre
that typically includes a crossover genre, sci fi, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Low key lighting and odd camera angles are used in this part of the film while Harry searches for the
Sorcerer s stone and battles Voldemort. There is a slight horror aspect to the following scenes as Harry
deals with the antagonist of the film, Voldemort. Horror is a genre that aims to create a sense of fear,
panic, and dread for the audience. These films are often unsettling and rely on scaring the audience
through a portrayal of their worst fears and nightmares. As we grow to love Harry and realize his
biggest fear is the man who killed his parents and also him, and then are forced to watch him return
this brings horror into the mix as a sub genre.

Their Eyes Were Watching God Identity Analysis
What is identity? A normal person would think that it s simply defined as who we are. However, there
are many definitions of identity, as it can mean differently for others. Identity is what makes us unique
from one another because there is no one else like us. Since our surroundings, such as the people we
meet and places we go to, possess a role into shaping who we are, we are constantly changing. As we
grow up and become curious, we experiences many things and start to see different sides of ourselves.
We start to question our individuality, to the point where we may struggle with whom we really are.
Similar to Janie Crawford in the novel Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, Janie

There are many different factors that influence our identity, such as our family, relationships, society,
etc. Family plays a significant role into shaping our identity because they can influence our attitudes,
beliefs, and values. Some may grow up having the same values as their parents because it s what they
are taught and they retain those values as they enter adulthood. They may be modified along the way,
but it s not completely gone. Although family can help prevent us from committing poor choices
through guidance, they can also hinder our ability to accomplish what we desire. In Janie s case,
Nanny plays a significant part into shaping her identity. Since Janie and Nanny had only each other
left, Nanny became very protective of Janie. In order for Janie to avoid experiencing the tragedy both
her mother and grandmother went through, which was being raped and forced into a relationship, she
wanted the absolute best for Janie. As a former slave, the grandmother, Nanny, is haunted by the
compensatory dream of making her first daughter, and then her granddaughter, something other than

Prenatal Contraception And Prenatal Care Essay
The risk of maternal and infant mortality can be significantly reduced by increasing access to early
and adequate prenatal care (Chapman Durham, 2010). The prenatal period provides an opportunity to
make positive changes in all aspects of a women s health status and health maintenance behaviors.
Early and adequate prenatal care provides the opportunity to identify significant risks to the pregnant
women, and develop interventions to reduce or eliminate potential complications (Chapman Durham,
2010).
Prenatal care encompasses the health care services provided to a women, from the time the women
becomes pregnant until birth. Prenatal care consists of three major components, risk assessment,
treatment of existing medical conditions and/or risk reduction, and patient education (Chapman
Durham, 2010). Current guidelines established by the American College of Obstetrician and
Gynecologists, regarding prenatal care for a low risk, expected full term pregnancy, include at least
thirteen prenatal visits (ACOG, 2016). Recommendations suggest one visit per month for the first 28
weeks of pregnancy, bi monthly during 29 36 weeks and then every week until birth (ACOG, 2016).
Evidence based practices emphasize the importance of receiving both early prenatal care, beginning in
the first trimester as well as adequate prenatal care, encompassing all perinatal education and guidance
(ACOG, 2016).

Research Paper On Body Image
Over spring break I had the chance to visit Seattle, Portland and the Redwoods I had an incredible
time, but this experience surely furthered me. Whilst in Portland we planned to go to a shop called
Voodoo Donut, however, this shop was crowded so as the day passed and night came we went to store
in Eugene, Oregon instead. When we arrived it was late as we approached the shop there were three
people sitting out front as my sister and I approached they started to cat call and ask if we d like to buy
something saying Hey gorgeous. My dad hadn t left the car yet so it was my mother, sister and I. To
say I was scared as their gaze stayed on us while we were in the shop is an understatement, it wasn t
until my father arrived that I felt like I wouldn t have to defend myself or carry my phone with 911

Not cox only dress has to do with this question but as well body image. Body image is a growing topic
for many women today. The one I m discussing however, is a little different. We are dealing with the
objectification of women s bodies. Women are objectified every day whether we realize it or not. The
three most common topics for women s magazine is love, weight loss, and beauty. For males the three
most common is money, success and power. The comparison of magazines alone is enough proof, but
it doesn t end there. In nearly 85 percent of interviews for female actress they are asked of diet plans
and what they are wearing regardless of obtaining a lead role whilst men are asked questions on their
lives and movie production. In 2013, Heidi Klum saved her son and nanny from drowning on Hawaii
vacation, over half of the magazines and interviews only questioned her on the revealing swim suit she
wore. Turning a human being into a thing is almost always the first step towards justifying violence
against it. Jean

Judy Chicago Rejection Drawing Analysis
Judy Chicago s feminist artistic career ironically began with minimalist styled art. Minimalist art is
defined by the Tate (a highly respected institution in London that runs 4 separate museums) as an
extreme form of abstract art developed in the USA in the 1960s and typified by artworks composed of
simple geometric shapes based on the square and the rectangle . Its essence is best condensed by artist
Frank Stella when he describes his minimalist paintings as What you see is what you see . Judy
Chicago was trained as a minimalist artist and she explains in a lecture she gave at the Carpenter
Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, California that during the first decade of my career I

The Rejection Quintet was finished in the order of Chicago Rejection Drawing , Childhood Rejection
Drawing , Female Rejection Drawing , Rejection Fantasy Drawing and finally Rejection Breakthrough
Drawing . The series exploration begins with the first line of Chicago Rejection Drawing which asks
How does it feel to be rejected? . Chicago describes an exhibition her husband was having her
hometown. She explains she felt a little jealous so she was interested when a friend of hers told her
about a gallery owner who would possibly be willing to give Chicago a show in her hometown.
Ultimately the gallery owner rejected her work and turned her down and Chicago was devastated. The
second drawing in the series Childhood Rejection Drawing addressed the contradiction between Judy
Chicago s rhetoric and art. She calls it a gap and explains that the structure that masks her content
stems from her time in graduate school where artists would reject her work that lacked structure.
Chicago realized that she could not artistically be herself if she wanted her degree. She goes on to
describe the rejection she felt from her father because he disapproved of what she exposed. Female
Rejection Drawing is very profound in it she explains how male culture denies that women have
separate experience. She addressed the contradiction between her art and rhetoric and explains that it
comes from her attempt to use the male established art language to explain her female experience. She
ends this piece with what feels like a call to action she uses anaphora to ask how many people will
move forward and appreciate women? Rejection Fantasy Drawing describes Chicago s fear of
rejection from her mother and friend after they read her manuscript for a book she continues

Excalibur
My Three Favorite Scenes
The movie Excalibur is a story about a king that is later known as the best king, but we still aren t sure
if he was a real person or just imaginary. We are taught a lot about middle english through the reading
and watching of Excalibur. One main thing that we are taught through Excalibur is the code of the
knights. The code of the knights was to serve and protect your king while respecting everyone. While
watching this movie I learned a lot about something that I look at as pointless at the beginning of the
year. Many things in this movie have made me open my eyes and see the true meaning behind
somethings. I have come on some of my favorite scenes that show the strengths of many people. The
scene that first caught ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Arthur is tricked to sleep with his step sister and she later gave birth to a son named Mordred, who is

very ill. He tells his knights that they need to find the holy grail because drinking from that is the only
thing that will heal him. Arthur knows that it s going to be a hard tasks and after a year the grail is still
nowhere to be found. Sir Gawain one of Arthur s best knights that sits at the round table, rides for
what seems like forever when coming upon Mordred. Who Gawain doesn t know is Arthur s son,
Mordred talks him into following him through the woods where there are other Knight s corpse
hanging from trees. Gawain later come to Mordred s mom and she uses spells to try and kill him.
While Gawain is hanging slowly dying he see God and is given the holy grail. This is one of my
favorite scenes because they search for a year to find something that was thought to be gone. Gawain
shows his worth as a knight and doesn t give up on finding the holy grail to save his king. Even
though the movie Excalibur was a good movie every person will look at it in different ways. This
movie has taught me a lot about how important the knights code was to the knights that fought to
protect their king. The story behind excalibur is one that is full of many different story. There are

Leonard Bernstein As A Renaissance Man Of Music
Leonard Bernstein was a Renaissance man of music: he [conducted], [recorded], [played] piano . . .
and [composed] several first rate Broadway musicals that produced a number of pop hits (Peyser 32).
Through his achievements and works from varying aspects of the music field, Bernstein, the American
musician, not only demonstrated that genius had no limits, but also fundamentally altered the future of
musicals, conducting, and classical music.
Bernstein composed the music for the musical West Side Story, which marked a watershed in the
technical craftsmanship of musicals. The New York Times theater reviewer Alvin Klein stated that the
masterful technique [in West Side Story] still induces visceral sensations one after another. And that
defined the essence of American musical theater (Klein). His review is valid since the strengths of the
musical, including the theatrical integration of script, song, dance, and set, were due to the fact that
each co creator of the musical, including Bernstein, were talented in the task they were responsible
for, whether it was composing or designing ( West Side Story ).
Not only is West Side Story important for how it raised the standard for American musicals, the
musical is also important because it reflected many American themes in its story and impact, such as
love conquering prejudice, youth against maturity, tradition challenging progress (Guttman). For
instance, that the musical s co creators (Bernstein, Robbins, Laurents, and

Essay about The Juggler
The Juggler
I want to believe in faith and risk and a world where you can stand beneath the grey October sky and
flash your own colours through the air like a magician (218 221, p. 6). These beautiful lines constitute
the final conclusion of the short story, The Juggler , written by Ursula Hegi and published in 2001.
The story deals with themes such as beauty, letting go and being stuck in the past.
The short story takes place in Coeur d Alene in the first weekend of October. An unnamed first person

is the first time she meets Michael, who is a counsellor at the school where her daughter teaches. They

Other times I felt like I were eleven and she thirty (ll. 91 92, p. 3). The mother almost bursts into self
oscillation when she tells Michael about her memories with Zoe. This could lead to the conclusion that
Zoe is used to taking responsibility for other people and, seen from a homespun psychological point of
view, perhaps likes the fact that Michael reminds her of her mother in the way that he needs her.
Another result of the mother s loneliness and dependency on her daughter is the fact that she cannot
let her go. She lives in the past and loves the memories of a time she refuses to leave, nor can she ever
leave it unless she accepts the fact that Zoe is now a grown up. She has her own life now. The bird has
flown.
So maybe she should just handle her over to Michael. After all he is not a maniac killer or anything.
He seems rather nice and Zoe really loves him, but the narrator simply is too jealous to be happy for
her daughter, Zoe turns, smiling at him with so much light in her eyes that I have to look away (ll. 74
75, p. 3).
The writer leaves, in a very discrete but intelligent and awfully interesting way, many symbols and
details for further interpretation. For instance, a visual description of the narrator has been left out.
Therefore, she appears as a set of thoughts, which on one side means that the events that take place in
the story often are

Why Is Lacrosse Important
Lacrosse
Got your help!!!!!! That s what lacrosse players say the majority of the time when playing lacrosse.
They say this when they are open for a pass or want the ball. The sport of lacrosse should be in the
olympics. To support my position I will Give you a description of the game, the popularity of the
game and finally a counterarguement that I will fight.
In this paragraph I will give you a desription of the game of lacrosse. First according to the article
named lacrosse the sport is played on a field 60 70 yards x 110 yards. This proves useful because it
means it can be played on a soccer field that is already made. All you would have to do would be to
add 5 yard extensions to each end of the field. The next reason is based on the time length of the
game. According to the article titled NCAA Rules for Men s Lacrosse there is four 15 minute quarters
and a 10 minute halftime with 2 minutes in between every quarter. It also has a overtime of 4 minutes
but can go on longer if there is still a tie. That means it has a total time of 78 minutes including
everything except the time after the overtime. That is shorter than a soccer game in the olympics. So
basically it would nt take up much time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

hosting the olympics. Next according to the article titled National Lacrosse Participation Grows 3.5
Percent in 2014 they said that in the International Lacrosse World Championship, 38 countries played.
This means that by the time it is an olympic sport we will probably fill the number of required
countries that compete in a summer olympic

The Law Of Comparative Advantage
RICARDO proved in 1817 that when every countries specialized in the element where they have the
comparative advantage, and then trades those element, all countries are better off. This theory called
the law of comparative advantage became the primary reason for international trade. Now a days
MNC are the primary actors of international trade, and the bargaining model that they use with
countries government can appear as a practical implementation of the law of comparative advantage.
In fact Dunning, J. H. (2000) estimate that competitive advantage which is a type of comparative
advantage is at the heart of company motivation and ability to operate internationally as an MNC.
Besides Ramamurti, R. (2001) suggest that the traditional bargaining model is based on comparative
advantage that the MNC and state have respectively. The bargaining process would then be the
decision process through which each party express which comparative advantage would be traded.
The MNC can for example trade its technology for the accesses to natural resource that the countries
government possess. Ramamurti (2001) also emphasize the point that it became obvious that the
previous process is only a part of the actual bargain and that another part of the bargain is operated at a
countries level (between host and home country), this step actually allow and favors international
trade between those countries, but at the hour of the liberalization the actual trade would be conducted
by MNC. As an example

ABSTRACT
Background: Mobility impairments seen after Stroke impact walking speed, endurance and balance.
Almost all the individuals with Stroke have fear of fall. The physical impairments in balance and gait
along with individual s perception about his/her own abilities to maintain balance might have an
impact on level of activity and participation in the community. The association of these variables with
recovery of Stroke has been well studied. However, it is currently unknown which of these variables
are most associated with activity and participation in the community. This study aimed to identify the
correlation of walking capacity and perception of fall with activity participation.
Methods: 30 Subjects were assessed for walking capacity (6 minute walk test) Self efficacy for falls
(Modified Falls Efficacy scale). Level of Activity Limitation (AL) Participation Restriction (PR) was
graded on validated ICF Measure of Participation and Activities. (IMPACT S)
Results: Data was analyzed using Pearson s correlation coefficient regression model. Walking distance
and Falls efficacy is significantly correlated (r= 0.751 and 0.683, respectively) with Participation
restriction. Walking distance correlated with Activity Limitation

Stephen King Gothic Elements
Stephen King s The Boogeyman was my favorite piece of gothic literature that we read. I was trying
to figure the story out all the way until the end and had to re read some of it to fully understand. It was
suspenseful, scary, but also had a good story to listen to. The Boogeyman was full of gloomy settings,
monsters, characters in distress, and intense emotions. These 4 things are just a couple elements that
make up gothic literature.
The first element of gothic literature that I noticed in The Boogeyman was the gloomy setting. The
way the man described his house was chilling. He made it sound cold, haunted, and all around gave
the house a bad vibe. He says, I heard a noise in there one night. And then she screamed. I opened the
door real quick the hall light was on and. . . she was sitting up in the crib crying and. . . something
moved. Back in the shadows, by the closet. Something slithered. Here he is talking about his own
daughter s room and how something was in there and he did nothing. I couldn t believe that, his own
child was in distress and he was too full of pride to admit to his wife that he wanted to protect or baby
their child. Her room was described as creepy enough without the monster. The gloomy setting helps
show that this is gothic literature.
The second element of gothic literature that I noticed in The Boogeyman was the ... Show more

these elements made The Boogeyman gothic literature. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I

Gothic literature is classically made up by these elements that I identified. This gothic literature piece
was my favorite one that we read and the story that I thought showed perfect examples of four of the

Positive Effects Of Pranayama
In addition to the studies reported in this review, a few studies by psychologists have been conducted
Abroad:
Bud (1993) studied the positive and negative mood (condition of mood, emotional stage) and mental
and physical energy in 71 normal volunteers in the age group of 21 76. He used three different
methods, viz. inactivity, visualization and yogic breathing along with Pranayama. He concluded that
Pranayama increases the mental, physical energy and gives a feeling of zeal more than the other two
methods. Therefore, 30 minutes of yogic and respiratory practice has a special strengthening effect on
mental and physical experience and increases the high positive mood.

Simple relaxation tools, such as deep breathing and relaxing imagery, can help calm down angry
feelings (American psychological Association, December 4, 2007). Much as with headaches and
hypertension, relaxation has generally positive effects on acute and chronic pain, although the results
are relatively modest (Taylor, 1991). Nonetheless, relaxation and meditation almost always form part
of a more comprehensive pain management program.
One of the more successful comprehensive treatments for chronic pain has been originated by Clare
Philips (Philips, 1987). This program contains many of the same components found in general stress
reduction programs such as relaxation and cognitive therapy focused on developing new approaches
and attitudes toward pain. After a 9 week treatment program for chronic pain, 12.6% of the treatment
groups were entirely free of pain, 41.8% were much improved, and 38% were improved. Only 8%
were in need of further treatment. Also pain intensity gradually decreased over the 12 month

Of Plymouth Plantation Mary Rowlandson Analysis
A typical belief that is upheld by the Puritans is the concept of providence, which means God acting in
the life of his creation. This concept is demonstrated in both William Bradford s, Of Plymouth
Plantation and Mary Rowlandson s, Narrative of the Capacity with God playing significant roles in
their lives. For instance, in William Bradford s journey to Cape Cod, him and his crew face starvation
who rescued by Squanto, was viewed as a special instrument sent (by) God... who directed them how
to set their corn (Bradford 33). Also demonstrating providence in the making is in Rowlandson s
narrative, who in times of turmoil is aided by God when she says, the lord answered, in some measure,
my poor prayers: For as I was... mourning and lamenting

Mount Everest Climbers
Mount Everest is the biggest mountain in the world, and because of that attracts many climbers to try
and climb all 29,029 feet of it, but think about all the trash they leave behind while climbing. In 2013
4,000 people have reached Everest s summit, with many more attempting to. Mount Everest has a
natural beauty, one that should be preserved, and people climbing the mountain and leaving their
garbage on it is ruining it. Climbers have a negative impact on Mount Everest, and while journeying to
the top, they are slowly destroying the mountain. First of all, the short article The World s Highest
Mountain describes what Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay experienced and felt as they
climbed Mount Everest and it shows the efforts that they made afterwards to help preserve and keep
the mountain safe from the dangers of climbers. For instance, the text states that Hillary was also
deeply concerned about the environment. He helped establish reforestation programs in Nepal. He also
demanded that mountain climbers clean up the garbage that often got left behind on Mount Everest
materials like used oxygen bottles, which climbers would discard because of their weight (Source #1
7). This shows that Sir Edmund HIllary and Tenzing Norgay understand how much trash climbers
leave behind when climbing Mount Everest because they went on that climb and probably left some
garbage on the mountain. Additionally, it allows the audience to see that climbing the mountain means
leaving trash, and since Hillary understands this from his own climb, he is demanding people pick up
their garbage. For example, paragraph 4 of The World s Highest Mountain it says that The goal Hillary
and Norgay set for themselves wasn t easy. The pair encountered difficult challenges on the way to the
summit, such as narrow ridges and 10,000 foot drops off the mountain. Hillary and Norgay s
experience on the mountain proves to us just how difficult it is to climb Mount Everest. Because it is
so difficult to climb Mount, you wouldn t want to have to carry your garbage up and back down the
mountain, it is easier to leave it on the mountain and that is what most people do. Therefore, because
of the difficulties climbers face when climbing the

Life Of Pi Animals
Being stranded in the middle of the Pacific with only the company of a full grown Bengal tiger will
take its toll on a person. In the book Life of Pi animals are a place of comfort and familiarity to Pi, the
son of a zookeeper, who spends his whole life surrounded by them. While stranded in the middle of
the ocean, he believes various animals from his family s zoo are with him on the lifeboat, and the
question of if that is true is to be interpreted by the reader. The animal story is not the truth, but it is Pi
s own bearable fiction, it presents the story in a way the reader can respond to and begs the question of
which story they believe and which story they want to believe. His story of the animals is a different
interpretation of reality, by turning his story into fiction, it becomes much easier to stomach the idea of
what happened. While in the aftershock of the boat sinking, Pi asks, what of my extended family
birds, beasts, and reptiles? They too have drowned. Every single thing I value in life has been
destroyed (Martel 98). This is the reality, no matter which story the reader chooses to believe, Pi lost
everything he loves in his life when the boat sank. Fiction is his coping mechanism, turning his story
into fiction distracts from the fact that he lost everything. Pi watches the death of Orange Juice in

That is a huge saving for Pacific Healthcare. Pacific Healthcare can save money as well as keeping the

IV. Choice and Rationale
After reviewing all of the possible choices I chose to go with choice A. I chose A, because it saves
Pacific Healthcare a lot of money as discussed in choice C. By choosing DuPont the company would
save $450 a day compared to Kodak. That is $3,150 per week of savings and $12,600 a month by
switching to DuPont. Also in choosing Agfa which is the same quality as Kodak, Pacific Healthcare
would save $330. Keep in mind that Agfa and DuPont have the same quality as Kodak. Why choose
Agfa over DuPont if they have the same quality of X ray film? That is why I chose DuPont. It is a
smart solution, because it saves Pacific Healthcare money while also keeping the same quality as
Kodak. Moving on two the other choices Mr. Rubble has. In the beginning I mentioned that there were
four competitors that offered X ray films at a much lower rate than Kodak. The competitors were
Agfa, DuPont, Fugi, and 3M. I have discussed Agfa and DuPont. The reason for not adding Fugi and
3M to my possible solutions is because Pacific Health care wanted to keep the same high quality in X
ray film. Even though Fugi and 3M met minimum requirement they were thought of as having lower
quality. Pacific Healthcare was looking for obtaining the highest quality with the best service at

The Side Effect Of Loneliness
Charmi Patel Barrett English 208 17 December 2014 Codependency: The Side Effect of Loneliness
Sam Keen once wrote, There are two questions a man must ask himself: The first is Where am I
going? and the second is Who will go with me? If you ever get these questions in the wrong order you
are in trouble (Keen 12). It is the time of Great Depression and it is every man for himself. In this
society it is typical to live and travel alone but some are unable to handle this life of loneliness and
develop a reliance on codependency. Codependency is a psychological condition in which someone is
in an unhealthy relationship that involves living with and providing care for another person with a
pathological condition. Whether it is George codependent on Lennie or Candy dependent on his
companions, the characters form a codependent relationship to avoid a life of misery. Analyzing Of
Mice and Men through a psychoanalytic lens, Steinbeck elucidates the characters formation of
unhealthy relationships, through their ego and superego, in order to satisfy their loneliness. Loneliness
causes an individual to seek the company of another. George and Lennie became aware of this early
on in their lives leading them to form a mutual dependence on each other. At the ranch, after being
asked by Slim, George opens up about the incident in Weed, [George] Well, that girl rabbits in an tells

The Importance Of An Age
When looking back at history, there is one constant used over and over regardless of the situation; this
constant is age. History proves a person cannot vote until they are 18 years of age, could not drink
until they were 18, which has risen to 21. A person must be 18 years of age to buy cigarettes, and all
males under federal law must sign up for the draft and potentially could give up their life defending
this great nation. By virtue of turning 18 years old, a person inherits so many responsibilities which
apply across most of the country, many of these responsibilities explained by Cynthia D. Kinser, Chief
Justice, Supreme Court of Virginia (2011) have far more responsibility than a 16 year old working at a

Moreover, to ensure the United States sends a clear message to other nations, Article 27 of the North
American Agreement on Labor Cooperation (NAALC) includes child labor laws to ensure the safety
of other children (SIROEN, 2013). Despite the fact the United States creates laws to protect children
both home and our trade partners in various nations, enforcing such standards is extremely hard. In
order to enforce these standards, it would mean constant surveillance of our trade partners to
guarantee compliance. Furthermore, by limiting the type of job a child can perform solely based on
age is having negative effects on manufacturers here in the United States, and is part of the issue with
adults working jobs paying minimum wage. Adjusting the current age requirements before a child is
able to gain employment experience will cause havoc and lead to adverse effects. Children today, are
not being held accountable and many feel society owes them a way of life. While there are some jobs
that a person under the age of 21 should not perform, there are many jobs currently restricted by the
Fair Standards Labor Act, that if proper safety features were in place and train a 16 year old to

Effects of Plyometric Exercises on Power Production
Introduction In a number of sports, the ability to produce a high muscular power output is required.
Power is critical for the performance of sports that require quick changes in directions, jumping, and
sprinting.1 To increase power production a number of plyometric exercises and programs can be
performed. The theory of specificity plays a large role in deciding what plyometric exercises should be
performed to improve power output.2 The theory states that the exercises should replicate the
movement as closely as possible for the best results.1,3 Plyometrics are used to increase muscular
power output and is accomplished by training the muscles to do more work in a shorter amount of
time.1,4 The purpose of this report is to review the literature on the effects of plyometric exercises on
power production.
Mechanical Model of Polymeric Exercise The mechanical model has three critical components to
explain how force production occurs in skeletal muscle. The three components of the mechanical

produce the primary force during a muscle contraction.6,7 The PEC is made up of the epimysium,

Physics Behind Airplanes
The entire concept behind airplanes is to construct them in such a way that the airflow pattern around
generates lift allowing them to fly. This airflow is produced by the forward motion of the plane
through the air. The forward motion of the plane is produced by its engine, which could be a propeller
engine or turbine. These engines create thrust by accelerating the air in front of them backwards. The
acceleration of the air backward pushes the plane forward due to Newton s third law as every force
has an equal and opposite force. The lift force that allows a plane to remain in the air is created by the
airflow passing over the wings. This airflow only occurs if the planes is moving through the air
meaning that lift is only possible if a plane ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that the planes experiences zero acceleration and the forces acting on the plane must
balance each other out. In order for the vertical components of the plane to cancel out, the lift created
by the wings must equal the weight of the plane caused by gravity. For the horizontal components of
the plane to cancel out, the thrust created by the engines must equal the drag due to air resistance.
Although it is important to note, lift is generally angled slightly backwards. This means that some of
the drag is caused by the lift force, and the lift force actually needs to be greater than the weight of the
plane. When a plane is taking off or landing, it experience similar forces as it does when it is at level
flight. Lift remains perpendicular to the velocity of the plane. The drag is in the opposite direction of
the velocity. Thrust opposes the drag, so it is in the same direction as the velocity. The weight of the
airplane is straight down as it is caused by gravity. Again, if the plane is travelling at a constant
velocity, then the forces acting on it must cancel one another. For the following equations, L represents
lift, T represents thrust, D represents drag, and W represents weight. In order for the vertical
components to equal zero, LcosΞ + TsinΞ DsinΞ W = 0. For the horizontal components to equal zero,
TcosΞ DcosΞ LsinΞ = 0. If the plane

Pros And Cons Of Basel III
Introduction After our throughout research on Basel III regulation and it s pros and cons, our group
came to the conclusion that Basel III indeed made the banking system to become more stable and safe
compared to the time where there is no Basel III regulation. Before we begin to defense our
standpoint, we would like to have a short review of what exactly Basel III is.
Basel III is a regulatory reform measures to improve the banking regulation, supervision and risk
management. Basel III was published in 2009 and mainly because of widespread of credit crisis of
global banking system. Therefore, the banks must maintain sufficient capital and proper leverage at
any point in time. We also know that Basel III is implemented right after Basel I and II, its main
changes are to enhance the stability of banking system when facing financial crisis and economic
downturn. Apart from that, the content of banks risk management and transparency are also
strengthened. The volatility of banking system can thus be reduced through strictly enforced Basel III
standard and requirements.
The benefits of Basel III The Basel III can reduce the probability and severity of future financial crisis

Policy implemented during Truman s presidency.
At the end of the Second World War two major issues were brought to attention. The first was dealing
with the destruction of the global catastrophe. The second issue involved the shape of the new world
and what political alliances were to be made. And although the U.S. and Russia were allies during the

But the Truman administration never considered giving up the American nuclear monopoly pushing
Stalin to focus whole heartedly on the Soviet atomic bomb project.
In 1949 the US formed a mutual defense alliance with Western Europe called the North Atlantic
Treaty Organization. Truman had a hard time convincing Congress that this organization was
necessary on account of American sentiment previously being avoidant of entangling alliances. The
NATO charter pledged that an attack on one of the member nations constituted an attack on all of the
members. Stalin s aggressive actions at Berlin accelerated the American effort to use military means to
contain communism. So the implementation of this alliance represented Truman s willingness to
disregard the tradition of neutrality. The Soviets also create an alliance called the Warsaw Pact

Many of the policies implemented during Truman s administration were provoking in the minds of the
Soviets. And Americans would have probably been less fearful if President Truman hadn t emphasized
Communism as such a big threat. He installed fear in the minds of the citizens and other officials.

The Bombing Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki
Bombing of Hiroshima On August 8th 1945 the first atomic weapon, a fission bomb, was dropped on
the city of Hiroshima in an attempt to force the Japanese to surrender in World War II (Bombing of
Hiroshima and Nagasaki, 2009). This event exposed the danger of nuclear energy. This massive
explosion demolished 90 percent of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people. This was only the
beginning though, tens of thousands of innocent people died due to the aftermath of radiation
exposure for another generation (Rosenberg, n.d). This day marks one of the most controversial in
history. While some argue that Truman s decision to drop the bomb was in America s best interest,
others question the ethics of dropping the most destructive weapon in the history of war on a city
filled with innocent civilians (Pavlik 1995). In 1939, President Franklin D. Roosevelt received a letter
from Albert Einstein. In this letter, Einstein outlined a new field of physics in which the element
uranium could undergo nuclear fission, releasing an incredible amount of energy (Katayma, n.d).
Einstein stressed the military importance of this new field of study, as Germany seemed to be on the
verge of similar discoveries. He described the probability that a sustained nuclear reaction could be
produced and the possibility of the construction of extremely powerful bombs (The Manhattan
Project, 2014). Upon hearing this information, Roosevelt created a committee of American scientists

Success is dependent on consumer satisfaction marketing helps orient strategic business thinking in this direction, in a relatively hostile environment saturated by competition. The number of possible outcomes are infinite, with the tools readily available, which is incredibly important if you are a first mover in a market choices made at this stage will set an example that market space, and quality to match for others. Entrepreneurs may have restrictions with tools and resources, yet possess enough flexibility to experiment in their field. This is not only applicable from a product development standpoint, but also for marketing decisions. Success is an achievement on the premise that the product/service has been proved reputable by consumers. What are the areas of Effectuation theory? Effectuation is analogous to giving a carpenter a toolbox and some wood and asked to build whatever he or she chooses as opposed to asking them to build a desk (Sarasvathy, 2001a) the latter is considered as casual reasoning or causation, where a predetermined goal is provided at the start with a set of means to an end (Sarasvathy, 2001b). It is, in fact, far more convoluted than suggested yet the example highlights a key element of effectuation that it demands creative prowess in the form of imagination, spontaneity, risk taking and salesmanship (Sarasvathy, 2001b). • 3. Analysis Of Sarah Vaughan Snyder s Raising A Feminist Despite men and women being very different from one another, should we treat them differently? In the text Raising a Feminist by Sarah Vaughan Snyder, the author deals with the main theme of gender equality in our society. She tries to illustrate that, if we re trying to eradicate sexism, it s vital to provide younger generations with a positive and non stereotypical image of women. The author proves her point by exploring the past prejudices that women suffered, the current role of women in our society and the ways we can educate children to be less prone to a sexist philosophy. Snyder refers to various examples, characters, and contrast to illustrate her theme. First of all, we must understand how a woman was regarded in our society in the past to comprehend the improvement that occurred. Snyder shows that barely a few decades ago, a women s gender diminished the opportunities she had because it was only expected of her to be capable of completing certain tasks. That instilled the notion of women being inferior to man, and this comes to show the prominence of the sexist mentality of the past. Take the example of a girl in junior high who had to show how to perform a task to her classmate and was given a C for her presentation. The reason behind her grade was due to her choosing to show how to wrap a gift, and her teacher thought the demonstration was useful to only half of the class . That event occurred a few decades ago and allowed us to witness the difference in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Total Quality Management At Kiichiro Toyoda The main pillars in the model resemble the total quality control or total quality management of the company that can best be summarized in this pyramid illustration. Total quality management means that everyone is involved in continuously refining the service to customers with data and profound knowledge. Kiichiro Toyoda made customers a huge priority in his theory. The base of the pyramid consisted of the costs of gaining quality, processing services, testing, tools, and prevention. The second level of the pyramid is involvement, which examines the rewards, acknowledgment, training, empowerment, and partnerships within the company. The third level is leadership that deals with talks about the ownership, management support, and the corporation s mission plan. The next level is culture, which explains the values and continuous improvement made by the employees. Finally the top of the pyramid is total quality management, which encompasses the main goal of being a customer driven company. Toyoda s primary viewpoints in his system embrace the theories of just in time and Jidoka. Just in time (JIT) focuses on productivity improvement with the main idea being, making only what is needed, when it is needed, and in the amount needed . The main goal for JIT was to effectively build a car within the shortest possible amount of time by obeying four guidelines. • 6. Decision Making Models In Hal Rainey s Understanding And... In the context of public organizations, there are a number of decision making models that can applied to the actions of these organizations. In his book Understanding and Managing Public Organizations, Hal Rainey outlines a number of different theories of organizational decision making that explain why organizations do what they do. The three most prominent theories he describes are rational decision making, incremental decision making, and mixed scanning. Each of these will be discussed in depth for their merit and shortfalls. Rational decision making is the first and simplest method of making decisions. It is the least complex model of decision making and it has essentially four baseline factors that play into it. According to Rainey, rational decision making takes place when the actor making decisions is aware of and understands the goal that he or she is trying to complete. In addition, the actor must be able to determine the importance of the goals being evaluated and then prioritize them accordingly. After this has been done the actor looks at and evaluates all the different ways that a goal can be accomplished, and as a result the actor chooses the action that accomplishes the target goal the most efficiently and effectively. Due to the often times, complex and politically volatile nature of the public sector, rational decision making models are best applied to less important decisions. For example, a rational decision making model can be applied to day to day ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They may be modified along the way, but it s not completely gone. Although family can help prevent us from committing poor choices through guidance, they can also hinder our ability to accomplish what we desire. • 11. Prenatal Contraception And Prenatal Care Essay The risk of maternal and infant mortality can be significantly reduced by increasing access to early and adequate prenatal care (Chapman Durham, 2010). The prenatal period provides an opportunity to make positive changes in all aspects of a women s health status and health maintenance behaviors. Early and adequate prenatal care provides the opportunity to identify significant risks to the pregnant women, and develop interventions to reduce or eliminate potential complications (Chapman Durham, 2010). Prenatal care encompasses the health care services provided to a women, from the time the women becomes pregnant until birth. Prenatal care consists of three major components, risk assessment, treatment of existing medical conditions and/or risk reduction, and patient education (Chapman Durham, 2010). Current guidelines established by the American College of Obstetrician and Gynecologists, regarding prenatal care for a low risk, expected full term pregnancy, include at least thirteen prenatal visits (ACOG, 2016). Recommendations suggest one visit per month for the first 28 weeks of pregnancy, bi monthly during 29 36 weeks and then every week until birth (ACOG, 2016). Whilst in Portland we planned to go to a shop called Voodoo Donut, however, this shop was crowded so as the day passed and night came we went to store in Eugene, Oregon instead. When we arrived it was late as we approached the shop there were three people sitting out front as my sister and I approached they started to cat call and ask if we d like to buy something saying Hey gorgeous. My dad hadn t left the car yet so it was my mother, sister and I. To say I was scared as their gaze stayed on us while we were in the shop is an understatement, it wasn t until my father arrived that I felt like I wouldn t have to defend myself or carry my phone with 911 previously dialed. The three most common topics for women s magazine is love, weight loss, and beauty. For males the three most common is money, success and power. The comparison of magazines alone is enough proof, but it doesn t end there. Minimalist art is defined by the Tate (a highly respected institution in London that runs 4 separate museums) as an extreme form of abstract art developed in the USA in the 1960s and typified by artworks composed of simple geometric shapes based on the square and the rectangle . Its essence is best condensed by artist Frank Stella when he describes his minimalist paintings as What you see is what you see . Judy Chicago was trained as a minimalist artist and she explains in a lecture she gave at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, California that during the first decade of my career I experienced two forms of censorship the first was self censorship ... She explains she felt a little jealous so she was interested when a friend of hers told her about a gallery owner who would possibly be willing to give Chicago a show in her hometown. Ultimately the gallery owner rejected her work and turned her down and Chicago was devastated. The second drawing in the series Childhood Rejection Drawing addressed the contradiction between Judy Chicago s rhetoric and art. She calls it a gap and explains that the structure that masks her content stems from her time in graduate school where artists would reject her work that lacked structure. Chicago realized that she could not artistically be herself if she wanted her degree. She goes on to describe the rejection she felt from her father because he disapproved of what she exposed. Female Rejection Drawing is very profound in it she explains how male culture denies that women have separate experience. She addressed the contradiction between her art and rhetoric and explains that it comes from her attempt to use the male established art language to explain her female experience. She ends this piece with what feels like a call to action she uses anaphora to ask how many people will move forward and appreciate women? Leonard Bernstein As A Renaissance Man Of Music Leonard Bernstein was a Renaissance man of music: he [conducted], [recorded], [played] piano . . . and [composed] several first rate Broadway musicals that produced a number of pop hits (Peyser 32). Through his achievements and works from varying aspects of the music field, Bernstein, the American musician, not only demonstrated that genius had no limits, but also fundamentally altered the future of musicals, conducting, and classical music. Bernstein composed the music for the musical West Side Story, which marked a watershed in the technical craftsmanship of musicals. The New York Times theater reviewer Alvin Klein stated that the masterful technique [in West Side Story] still induces visceral sensations one after another. And that defined the essence of American musical theater (Klein). His review is valid since the strengths of the musical, including the theatrical integration of script, song, dance, and set, were due to the fact that each co creator of the musical, including Bernstein, were talented in the task they were responsible for, whether it was composing or designing ( West Side Story ). Not only is West Side Story important for how it raised the standard for American musicals, the musical is also important because it reflected many American themes in its story and impact, such as love conquering prejudice, youth against maturity, tradition challenging progress (Guttman). This could lead to the conclusion that Zoe is used to taking responsibility for other people and, seen from a homespun psychological point of view, perhaps likes the fact that Michael reminds her of her mother in the way that he needs her. Another result of the mother s loneliness and dependency on her daughter is the fact that she cannot let her go. She lives in the past and loves the memories of a time she refuses to leave, nor can she ever leave it unless she accepts the fact that Zoe is now a grown up. She has her own life now. The bird has flown. So maybe she should just handle her over to Michael. After all he is not a maniac killer or anything. In this paragraph I will give you a desription of the game of lacrosse. First according to the article named lacrosse the sport is played on a field 60 70 yards x 110 yards. This proves useful because it means it can be played on a soccer field that is already made. All you would have to do would be to add 5 yard extensions to each end of the field. The next reason is based on the time length of the game. According to the article titled NCAA Rules for Men s Lacrosse there is four 15 minute quarters and a 10 minute halftime with 2 minutes in between every quarter. It also has a overtime of 4 minutes but can go on longer if there is still a tie. That means it has a total time of 78 minutes including everything except the time after the overtime. Now a days MNC are the primary actors of international trade, and the bargaining model that they use with countries government can appear as a practical implementation of the law of comparative advantage. In fact Dunning, J. H. (2000) estimate that competitive advantage which is a type of comparative advantage is at the heart of company motivation and ability to operate internationally as an MNC. Besides Ramamurti, R. (2001) suggest that the traditional bargaining model is based on comparative advantage that the MNC and state have respectively. The bargaining process would then be the decision process through which each party express which comparative advantage would be traded. The MNC can for example trade its technology for the accesses to natural resource that the countries government possess. Ramamurti (2001) also emphasize the point that it became obvious that the previous process is only a part of the actual bargain and that another part of the bargain is operated at a countries level (between host and home country), this step actually allow and favors international trade between those countries, but at the hour of the liberalization the actual trade would be conducted by MNC. I was trying to figure the story out all the way until the end and had to re read some of it to fully understand. It was suspenseful, scary, but also had a good story to listen to. The Boogeyman was full of gloomy settings, monsters, characters in distress, and intense emotions. These 4 things are just a couple elements that make up gothic literature. The first element of gothic literature that I noticed in The Boogeyman was the gloomy setting. The way the man described his house was chilling. He made it sound cold, haunted, and all around gave the house a bad vibe. He says, I heard a noise in there one night. And then she screamed. I opened the door real quick the hall light was on and. . . she was sitting up in the crib crying and. . . something moved. Back in the shadows, by the closet. Something slithered. Here he is talking about his own daughter s room and how something was in there and he did nothing. I couldn t believe that, his own child was in distress and he was too full of pride to admit to his wife that he wanted to protect or baby their child. Her room was described as creepy enough without the monster. The gloomy setting helps show that this is gothic literature. Mount Everest Climbers Mount Everest is the biggest mountain in the world, and because of that attracts many climbers to try and climb all 29,029 feet of it, but think about all the trash they leave behind while climbing. In 2013 4,000 people have reached Everest s summit, with many more attempting to. Mount Everest has a natural beauty, one that should be preserved, and people climbing the mountain and leaving their garbage on it is ruining it. Climbers have a negative impact on Mount Everest, and while journeying to the top, they are slowly destroying the mountain. First of all, the short article The World s Highest Mountain describes what Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay experienced and felt as they climbed Mount Everest and it shows the efforts that they made afterwards to help preserve and keep the mountain safe from the dangers of climbers. For instance, the text states that Hillary was also deeply concerned about the environment. He helped establish reforestation programs in Nepal. He also demanded that mountain climbers clean up the garbage that often got left behind on Mount Everest materials like used oxygen bottles, which climbers would discard because of their weight (Source #1 7). This shows that Sir Edmund HIllary and Tenzing Norgay understand how much trash climbers leave behind when climbing Mount Everest because they went on that climb and probably left some garbage on the mountain. Additionally, it allows the audience to see that climbing the mountain means leaving trash, and since Hillary understands this from his own climb, he is demanding people pick up their garbage. For example, paragraph 4 of The World s Highest Mountain it says that The goal Hillary and Norgay set for themselves wasn t easy. The pair encountered difficult challenges on the way to the summit, such as narrow ridges and 10,000 foot drops off the mountain. Hillary and Norgay s experience on the mountain proves to us just how difficult it is to climb Mount Everest. Because it is so difficult to climb Mount, you wouldn t want to have to carry your garbage up and back down the mountain, it is easier to leave it on the mountain and that is what most people do. If you ever get these questions in the wrong order you are in trouble (Keen 12). It is the time of Great Depression and it is every man for himself. In this society it is typical to live and travel alone but some are unable to handle this life of loneliness and develop a reliance on codependency. A person must be 18 years of age to buy cigarettes, and all males under federal law must sign up for the draft and potentially could give up their life defending this great nation. By virtue of turning 18 years old, a person inherits so many responsibilities which apply across most of the country, many of these responsibilities explained by Cynthia D. Kinser, Chief Justice, Supreme Court of Virginia (2011) have far more responsibility than a 16 year old working at a fast food restaurant. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, to ensure the United States sends a clear message to other nations, Article 27 of the North American Agreement on Labor Cooperation (NAALC) includes child labor laws to ensure the safety of other children (SIROEN, 2013). Despite the fact the United States creates laws to protect children both home and our trade partners in various nations, enforcing such standards is extremely hard. In order to enforce these standards, it would mean constant surveillance of our trade partners to guarantee compliance. Furthermore, by limiting the type of job a child can perform solely based on age is having negative effects on manufacturers here in the United States, and is part of the issue with adults working jobs paying minimum wage. Adjusting the current age requirements before a child is able to gain employment experience will cause havoc and lead to adverse effects. Children today, are not being held accountable and many feel society owes them a way of life. While there are some jobs that a person under the age of 21 should not perform, there are many jobs currently restricted by the Fair Standards Labor Act, that if proper safety features were in place and train a 16 year old to perform. • 32. Effects of Plyometric Exercises on Power Production Introduction In a number of sports, the ability to produce a high muscular power output is required. Power is critical for the performance of sports that require quick changes in directions, jumping, and sprinting.1 To increase power production a number of plyometric exercises and programs can be performed. The theory of specificity plays a large role in deciding what plyometric exercises should be performed to improve power output.2 The theory states that the exercises should replicate the movement as closely as possible for the best results.1,3 Plyometrics are used to increase muscular power output and is accomplished by training the muscles to do more work in a shorter amount of time.1,4 The purpose of this report is to review the literature on the effects of plyometric exercises on power production. Mechanical Model of Polymeric Exercise The mechanical model has three critical components to explain how force production occurs in skeletal muscle. The three components of the mechanical model (Figure 1.) are the contractile component (CC), the parallel elastic component (PEC) and the series elastic component (SEC).5,6 The (CC) are made up of actin, myosin, and cross bridges that produce the primary force during a muscle contraction.6,7 The PEC is made up of the epimysium, perimysium, endomysium and the muscle fiber.6,8,9 This formation of connective tissue exerts a passive resistive force when stretched. The SEC is the elastic component that store and release the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Physics Behind Airplanes The entire concept behind airplanes is to construct them in such a way that the airflow pattern around generates lift allowing them to fly. This airflow is produced by the forward motion of the plane through the air. The forward motion of the plane is produced by its engine, which could be a propeller engine or turbine. These engines create thrust by accelerating the air in front of them backwards. The acceleration of the air backward pushes the plane forward due to Newton s third law as every force has an equal and opposite force. The lift force that allows a plane to remain in the air is created by the airflow passing over the wings. This airflow only occurs if the planes is moving through the air meaning that lift is only possible if a plane ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that the planes experiences zero acceleration and the forces acting on the plane must balance each other out. In order for the vertical components of the plane to cancel out, the lift created by the wings must equal the weight of the plane caused by gravity. For the horizontal components of the plane to cancel out, the thrust created by the engines must equal the drag due to air resistance. Although it is important to note, lift is generally angled slightly backwards. This means that some of the drag is caused by the lift force, and the lift force actually needs to be greater than the weight of the plane. When a plane is taking off or landing, it experience similar forces as it does when it is at level flight. Lift remains perpendicular to the velocity of the plane. The drag is in the opposite direction of the velocity. Thrust opposes the drag, so it is in the same direction as the velocity. The weight of the airplane is straight down as it is caused by gravity. Again, if the plane is travelling at a constant velocity, then the forces acting on it must cancel one another. For the following equations, L represents lift, T represents thrust, D represents drag, and W represents weight. In order for the vertical components to equal zero, LcosΞ + TsinΞ DsinΞ W = 0. For the horizontal components to equal zero, TcosΞ DcosΞ LsinΞ = 0. If the plane ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Pros And Cons Of Basel III Introduction After our throughout research on Basel III regulation and it s pros and cons, our group came to the conclusion that Basel III indeed made the banking system to become more stable and safe compared to the time where there is no Basel III regulation. Before we begin to defense our standpoint, we would like to have a short review of what exactly Basel III is. Basel III is a regulatory reform measures to improve the banking regulation, supervision and risk management. Basel III was published in 2009 and mainly because of widespread of credit crisis of global banking system. Therefore, the banks must maintain sufficient capital and proper leverage at any point in time. We also know that Basel III is implemented right after Basel I and II, its main changes are to enhance the stability of banking system when facing financial crisis and economic downturn. Apart from that, the content of banks risk management and transparency are also strengthened. The volatility of banking system can thus be reduced through strictly enforced Basel III standard and requirements. • 36. Harry Truman 1. Harry Truman was a realistic, pragmatic president who skillfully led the American people against the menace posed by the Soviet Union. Assess the validity of this statement by examining the Foreign Policy implemented during Truman s presidency. At the end of the Second World War two major issues were brought to attention. The first was dealing with the destruction of the global catastrophe. The second issue involved the shape of the new world and what political alliances were to be made. And although the U.S. and Russia were allies during the war the second issue was the foremost cause of the contention between the world s two political/economic systems, Capitalism and Communism. The Cold War was basically an ideological catch 22 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But the Truman administration never considered giving up the American nuclear monopoly pushing Stalin to focus whole heartedly on the Soviet atomic bomb project. In 1949 the US formed a mutual defense alliance with Western Europe called the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Truman had a hard time convincing Congress that this organization was necessary on account of American sentiment previously being avoidant of entangling alliances. The NATO charter pledged that an attack on one of the member nations constituted an attack on all of the members. Stalin s aggressive actions at Berlin accelerated the American effort to use military means to contain communism. So the implementation of this alliance represented Truman s willingness to disregard the tradition of neutrality. The Soviets also create an alliance called the Warsaw Pact countries that had the equivalent ambitions as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Many of the policies implemented during Truman s administration were provoking in the minds of the Soviets. And Americans would have probably been less fearful if President Truman hadn t emphasized Communism as such a big threat. He installed fear in the minds of the citizens and other officials. Maybe not a fear of any tangible threat communism posed but the simple idea of being taken over, from abroad and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Bombing Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki Bombing of Hiroshima On August 8th 1945 the first atomic weapon, a fission bomb, was dropped on the city of Hiroshima in an attempt to force the Japanese to surrender in World War II (Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, 2009). This event exposed the danger of nuclear energy. This massive explosion demolished 90 percent of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people. This was only the beginning though, tens of thousands of innocent people died due to the aftermath of radiation exposure for another generation (Rosenberg, n.d). This day marks one of the most controversial in history. While some argue that Truman s decision to drop the bomb was in America s best interest, others question the ethics of dropping the most destructive weapon in the history of war on a city filled with innocent civilians (Pavlik 1995). In 1939, President Franklin D. Roosevelt received a letter from Albert Einstein. In this letter, Einstein outlined a new field of physics in which the element uranium could undergo nuclear fission, releasing an incredible amount of energy (Katayma, n.d). Einstein stressed the military importance of this new field of study, as Germany seemed to be on the verge of similar discoveries. He described the probability that a sustained nuclear reaction could be produced and the possibility of the construction of extremely powerful bombs (The Manhattan Project, 2014). Although the first Super Bowl did not sell out the stadium the game managed to reach the largest television audience for a sporting event with an astonishing 65 million viewers. According to Wallace (1996), Soon after the first championship matchup between the established N.F.L. and the upstart American Football League in 1967, the Super Bowl became one of the most watched television programs, garnering ever higher rights fees from the networks and escalating ticket prices (p. 1).
