Question #1 & #2
The circuit we’re going to use in this project
Question #3
The characteristics of the 1N5371B diode:
IZK=1 mA
IZM=79 mA
IZT=20 mA

Question #4 A)
Changing RL to make IZ≈IZM ≈79 mA
1st Trial ⇊⇊
Putting R1= 3kΩ
PAGE 3
2nd Trial ⇊⇊
Putting R1= 2kΩ
PAGE 4
3rd Trial ⇊⇊
Putting R1= 1.9625kΩ
I’ve got a current flows throw the diode that approximately close to IZM ≈79 mA
PAGE 5
Question #4 B)
Put R1 < R1min , I assumed (R1 = 1000 Ω)<(R1min=1.9625 kΩ)
ID >IZM , and damage occurs to the diode
PAGE 6
Question #5 A)
Adjust R1=R1min=1.9625 kΩ & change RL until IZ≈ IZK≈ 1 mA
∴ RLmin ≈ 721.9 Ω ⇊⇊
PAGE 7
Question #5 B)
1st
: The voltage probe is at the terminal of the load resistance @RL =RLmin
PAGE 8
2nd
: The voltage probe is at the terminal of the load resistance 1000 Ω @RL >RLmin
Observation: Voltage increases on the load resistance
PAGE 9
Question #5 C)
Consider RL<RLmin , where RLmin ≈721.9 Ω
RL=500Ω & we will compare the voltage flow in RL with RL=RLmin and RL=500Ω
Observation: Voltage decreases on the load resistance
PAGE 10
Question #6
The diodes in the circuit are assembled to make a rectifier circuit
and the capacitor works to smoothen the current and make it close to a DC
The circuit without the capacitor
Wave form without the capacitor
PAGE 11
The effect of reducing and increasing of capacitor:
The capacitor is 10mF which is greater than the original one
The resulting current from increasing the capacitor
PAGE 12
The capacitor is 0.05mF which is less than the original one
The resulting current from increasing the capacitor
PAGE 13
Observation: The higher the capacitance the lesser the ripple, and vice versa …in other words; the voltage ripple is
inversely proportional to the capacitance.
