Analysis and Interpretation of Data
According to information in figure 1,majorityof the sample stated that the ‘male’ gender was
the most unemployed gender in the community. This could be as a result of them ending their
school years at an early age and not willing to learn any trade skills.
According to figure 2, 47% of the sample stated they only receive the ‘Secondary’ level of
education,27% of the sample stated that they only receive the ‘primary’ level of education, 26%
of the sample stated that they receive ‘tertiary’ level of education and 0% said they receive the
‘basic’ level of education.Parents probably couldn’t afford tuition fee and had no choice but to
take their children out of school or stop them from going.
In reference to figure 3, 53% of the sample said they are unemployed because the ‘lack of job
opportunity’,the cause of this could be that the number of people entering the labor force
every year supersedes the capacity of the economies to generate additional employment.
In reference to figure 4, majority of the sample said the impact unemployment has on their
family is that they are ‘unable to provide necessities’. They are unemployed and so cannot
generate an income to sufficiently provide for them and their family.
According to figure 5, 100% of the sample stated that been unemployed made them feeling
‘stressed’ and 0% said been unemployed made them feel ‘happy’, ‘sad’, or ‘other feelings’. This
is as a result of the fact that the individual is unable to meet their basic necessities.
According to figure 6, the impact unemployment has on the community is that there is an
‘increase in the development of gang’. Individuals have nothing beneficial to do with their time
and are without money so they turn to friends and activities that can help them earn a living.
They have to however conform to the norms of the group which leads to the formation of
gangs.
In order to reduceunemployment in the community53% of the sample said that they need to
‘provide more job opportunity’while 40% said they need to provide more educational
opportunities.
In reference to figure 8, 60% of the sample ‘None services’ was offered to help unemployed
residents living in the community 40% of the sample said that ‘Path Programme’ was offered to
help unemployed residents and 0% of the sample said that ‘Food For The Poor’ and ‘Private
Outreach progrmme’ was offered to help unemployment residents.
12
Findings
Three Statement on what the researcher has obtain from this investigation on the social chosen
are:
 Most of the unemployed persons are male.
 All the unemployed person said there feeling stressed.
 Most of the residents said the impact unemployment has on the community is that
criminal activity increase.
13
Recommendations
The population growth rate has a huge effect on unemployment. Rapid population
growth results in rapid growth in the labour force and with the lack of availability of
jobs, this poses many social problems. Government must control the high birth rate. A
massive education programme on the family planning must be strongly pursued. A
reduction in the population will eventually lead to a reduction in unemployment.
A recommendation to reduce unemployment is the circulate in schools should reflect on
emphasis on technical/vocational subjects such as Welding, Auto-Mechanics, Electrical
Installation, Fashion Designing, Agriculture Science, Masoning and Plumbing. When
students are qualified in these area they can become self-employed.
In order to solve this problem the researcher would work along with the Family Planning
Association to establish an education programme on family planning and implement this
programme in every parish so that residents can be aware of it and learn about the
benefits of the family planning and how it can help the situation of unemployment in
Jamaica.

  • 14. Analysis and Interpretation of Data According to information in figure 1,majorityof the sample stated that the ‘male’ gender was the most unemployed gender in the community. This could be as a result of them ending their school years at an early age and not willing to learn any trade skills. According to figure 2, 47% of the sample stated they only receive the ‘Secondary’ level of education,27% of the sample stated that they only receive the ‘primary’ level of education, 26% of the sample stated that they receive ‘tertiary’ level of education and 0% said they receive the ‘basic’ level of education.Parents probably couldn’t afford tuition fee and had no choice but to take their children out of school or stop them from going. In reference to figure 3, 53% of the sample said they are unemployed because the ‘lack of job opportunity’,the cause of this could be that the number of people entering the labor force every year supersedes the capacity of the economies to generate additional employment. In reference to figure 4, majority of the sample said the impact unemployment has on their family is that they are ‘unable to provide necessities’. They are unemployed and so cannot generate an income to sufficiently provide for them and their family. According to figure 5, 100% of the sample stated that been unemployed made them feeling ‘stressed’ and 0% said been unemployed made them feel ‘happy’, ‘sad’, or ‘other feelings’. This is as a result of the fact that the individual is unable to meet their basic necessities. According to figure 6, the impact unemployment has on the community is that there is an ‘increase in the development of gang’. Individuals have nothing beneficial to do with their time and are without money so they turn to friends and activities that can help them earn a living. They have to however conform to the norms of the group which leads to the formation of gangs. In order to reduceunemployment in the community53% of the sample said that they need to ‘provide more job opportunity’while 40% said they need to provide more educational opportunities. In reference to figure 8, 60% of the sample ‘None services’ was offered to help unemployed residents living in the community 40% of the sample said that ‘Path Programme’ was offered to help unemployed residents and 0% of the sample said that ‘Food For The Poor’ and ‘Private Outreach progrmme’ was offered to help unemployment residents. 12
  • 15. Findings Three Statement on what the researcher has obtain from this investigation on the social chosen are:  Most of the unemployed persons are male.  All the unemployed person said there feeling stressed.  Most of the residents said the impact unemployment has on the community is that criminal activity increase. 13
  • 16. Recommendations The population growth rate has a huge effect on unemployment. Rapid population growth results in rapid growth in the labour force and with the lack of availability of jobs, this poses many social problems. Government must control the high birth rate. A massive education programme on the family planning must be strongly pursued. A reduction in the population will eventually lead to a reduction in unemployment. A recommendation to reduce unemployment is the circulate in schools should reflect on emphasis on technical/vocational subjects such as Welding, Auto-Mechanics, Electrical Installation, Fashion Designing, Agriculture Science, Masoning and Plumbing. When students are qualified in these area they can become self-employed. In order to solve this problem the researcher would work along with the Family Planning Association to establish an education programme on family planning and implement this programme in every parish so that residents can be aware of it and learn about the benefits of the family planning and how it can help the situation of unemployment in Jamaica. 14
