City of God Review
October 10, 2010 St. Augustine s work, The City of God, portrays the Roman virtue and describes it s
affect on the manners of the Romans. Though the people did not worship God, St. Augustine points
out that God still blessed them by increasing their dominion. In this text, Augustine finds many
aspects of the ethos Roman Empire both admirable and problematic. He does this in a way that gives
the reader a better understanding on his views of how to live a life dedicated to God. He also shows
the problems of living for other men rather than living for the righteousness of God. Augustine speaks
of the manners of the ancient Romans, and shows in what sense it was due to the virtue of the Romans
themselves, and in how far to the counsel of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows the greatness with being pure in all ways and waiting for the good things in life and not
being greedy. I really think this is Augustine way to show respect towards the pure and admire what
they have done for God. In To What Profit the Romans Carried on Wars, and How Much They
Contributed to the Well Being of Those Whom They Conquered, Augustine wrote that humans,
because mortal and are only on earth for so long, shouldn t be concerned over whose government a
dying man lives, if they who govern do not force him to impiety and iniquity? The Romans tried to
impose laws and regulations on nations they took over but they themselves did not live by these. If
everyone was under the Roman Empire, than everyone in that empire should have the same privileges
and rights. It does no good, according to Augustine, to do this. Take away outward show, and what are
all men after all but men? But even though the perversity of the age should permit that all the better
men should be more highly honored than others, neither thus should human honor be held at a great
price, for it is smoke which has no weight. Men that may not seem as if they have accomplished much
greatness in the eyes of other men may have done just the opposite. ...the citizens of so great a country
may not seem to themselves to have done anything very great, if, in order to obtain it, they have done
some good works or endured some evils, when those men

Genetically Modified Organisms Over the last few years, many people and news organization talk
about the use of GMO s and how they are not safe for our health. The process of genetically
modifying foods has been tested and researched and in recent years has been more widely used by
giant corporations and some farmers. Scientists have altered seeds and grown food synthetically. The
government says that GMO s are not harmful and has publicly stated that they feel it will solve world
hunger. Many studies have shown that the reproduction of food in this manner is harmful. Many
scientists believe that it is not the product but how it is being used. The corporations are utilizing bad
water, bad soil, and extremely harmful pesticides. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The option to genetically modify food seemed the lesser of two evils, to those that would turn a blind
eye to the corporate giants. We are way overpopulated and our resources can only extend so far and a
solution needs to be in play however in the proper hands.
In order for me to come up with a clearer solution, I feel the public needs to see the results of four
different crops and four animal farms over another ten year span. One from Monsanto Corporation,
one organic, on a typical farm with non modified seeds and animals and one genetically modified
farmer grown with good soil , good water and no or non harmful pesticides. All four sources used in
this annotated bibliography, provided in depth good research covering the last decade from reputable
sources. One article was directly from a researcher on the GMO project. Without further testing and
the proper handling GMOs could have a very bad reaction to the animal and human population.

The Ethics Of Embryonic Stem Cells
Problem
The society is not at an agreeable point when it comes to the research of stem cells obtained from
human embryos. The disagreement narrows down to a clash between the two fundamental principles
of ethics: The duty to prevent and alleviate suffering, and the duty to respect the value of human life.
In most situations, both principles can be satisfied. However, in the research of embryonic stem cells,
it might not be inherently possible.
Generally, the clash between the two principles is not created by a violation of the duty to prevent or
alleviate suffering. In fact, it is the prime purpose of the research. On the other hand, depending on the
consideration of the statues of the embryo, the research might violate the duty to respect the value of
life. If the embryo is considered a person, its research would be a violation to human life; if the
embryo is not considered a person, there would be no violation to human life. Such consideration of
the human embryo is the factor responsible for the clash.
What do the statues of the embryo and the ethical principle of life have to do with the research of
embryonic stem cells? Well, in order to perform a research, a new line of stem cells has to be
developed. When the cells are extracted from the blastocyst, the embryo is destroyed since it cannot
persist without its inner cells. If the embryo is considered a person, we are then killing a person, as
well as violating the ethical principle of respecting the value of life.

New Economic Imperialism Essay example
New Economic Imperialism
Those in power define national interests as the preservation of the existing set of economic, social, and
political relationships. Therefore, the national interest of the supranational capitalist society is the
interests of the upper class, allied throughout the globe. The United States capitalist class has proposed
to preserve and extend U.S. capitalism by a policy of empire building to satisfy the need for large
export markets that could supply cheap inputs and guarantee consumption.
The road to the current economic imperial structure prevalent in international affairs is a long and
complicated one. During the twentieth century the capitalist elite began forming organizations in ...

Top executives from the worlds leading multinational corporations meet with top national political

The Greenhouse Gas Protocol
Reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission, particularly from industrial production, to combat
global climate change is one of the biggest sustainable development challenge for the international
community. Countries are adopting Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs), low carbon
development strategies and climate change policies to tackle issues of climate change and at the same
time meet their development goals. At the global level, United Nations Framework Convention on
Climate Change (UNFCCC) and Kyoto Protocol, have paved ways for voluntary GHG emission
reduction targets. To facilitate the mitigation actions, carbon intensities of production process are

GHG Reporting Programme
In simple terms, accounting and reporting of GHG programme begins with identification of
programme objectives. These objectives may range from voluntary action like tracking progress
towards GHG reduction targets; supporting national climate change strategies; supporting GHG
trading programs; facilitating GHG mitigation activities; to provide information to shareholders and
investors.
Once the objectives are decided, the programme decides on which GHG accounting principles to
adopt. Such process implements basic principles like relevance, completeness, consistency,
transparency, and accuracy of data. After the base year has been selected the process follows
internationally accepted GHG accounting methodologies (see available protocols and standards
below), which can be modified to suit the requirement of the country or company.
After the objectives and the methodologies are agreed upon, the programme design will decide on
sectors, sources and gases that the programme covers. Generally, major economic sectors such as
energy, industrial processes, land use change, agriculture, and waste disposal are considered for the
GHG emission. Similarly, the

An Audit Report On An Auditor
Introduction
An audit report is an opinion written by an auditor regarding the financial statements of an
organization. The report is prepared using a format that is standard and generally accepted. However,
there can be variations in the report; it only depends on the circumstances of the work and the
engagement of the auditor (Asare Wright pg. 198). An auditor s opinion can either be a clean opinion,
qualified opinion, adverse opinion or a disclaimer opinion. An honest opinion is given if the financial
statements show a fair representation of an organization s financial position. A qualified opinion is
offered if there were any limiting factors imposed on the work of the auditor. An adverse opinion is
delivered if there was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the two audit reports of 2014, and 2015 we can see that there was communication between both
parties that is the auditors and the accountants of the firm. The ISA was used as a guideline on how the
auditors communicated with the accountants by guiding the auditing team on the specific items that
needed communication with the governance group. This enabled both teams to understand matters that
related to audit and also was a base for a working relationship that was constructive. The auditors
focused on this ISA to ensure that they remained objective, transparent, and independent as they
conducted the audit of the financial statements of the enterprise and also the reporting of the audited
information (Andon O Dwyer, pg. 1400).
The audit reports of 2014 and 2015 use the ISA 570 where the auditor responsibility has to audit the
financial reports about how the management uses the going concern aspect when preparing the
financial statements. Therefore, the going concern assumption allows one to view a company as a
business that will continue with its operations in the future. Additionally, the management prepares
their financial reports using this assumption unless the organization intends to cease its operations or
liquidate their assets (Bhattacharyya, pg 20). Therefore, the auditors in both reports show that the
organization is going to continue with their transactions shortly because the assets together with the

Partition Of Chapel And State Essay
At the point when Thomas Jefferson initially utilized the expression mass of detachment, it is sure that
he never would have expected the contention that encompasses that term two centuries later. The
representation has turned out to be powerful to the point that more Americans are more acquainted
with Jefferson s expression than with the genuine dialect of the Constitution.{1}
In one sense, the possibility of partition of chapel and state is a precise portrayal of what must happen
between the two establishments. History is loaded with cases (e.g., the Inquisition) of the risks that
emerge when the establishments of chapel and state turn out to be excessively interwoven.
However, the contemporary idea of detachment of chapel and state goes a long ways past the
acknowledgment that the two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In spite of the fact that that ought to be a conspicuous explanation, it is astounding what number of
residents (counting legal counselors and government officials) don t have the foggiest idea about that
basic actuality.
Since the expression is not in the Constitution and not even fundamentally examined by the composers
(e.g., The Federalist Papers), it is interested in wide understanding and error. The main clear
proclamation about religion in the Constitution can be found in the First Amendment and we will take
a gander at its administrative history later in this article.
Thomas Jefferson utilized the expression detachment of chapel and state when he kept in touch with
the Danbury Baptist Association in 1802. At that point the expression slipped into lack of clarity. In
1947, Justice Hugo Black restored it on account of Everson v. Leading body of Education. He
composed that the First Amendment was planned to erect a mass of division amongst chapel and State.
He included that this divider must be kept high and

Pros And Cons Of The Kyoto Protocol
By 2008, more than 29 millions of carbon dioxide emissions had been produced to the earth and the
number keeps rising drastically each year. The irony is that this carbon dioxide itself is only one of the
all greenhouse gases that emit, affect our earth, and become a major environmental problem. This
problem that may lead us to the brink of destruction would probably become the reason on why there
is Kyoto Protocol from the very first time.
Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement that aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the
presence of greenhouse gases. Countries that ratify the Kyoto Protocol are assigned different
maximum carbon emission levels and can participate in carbon credit trading. Demanding more than
the assigned limit will result in a penalty for the violating country in the form of a lower emission
limit in the following period.

Constitutional Reform Research Paper
Our Constitution: Does it need to be reformed? In 1780 one person proposed an idea to reconstruct our
government; Alexander Hamilton proposed a general convention to frame a new constitution (Beard
3). The Article of Confederation was failing and the several men wanted a change to form a stronger
national government. Some states excelled under the Article of Confederation while others struggled,
there was no whole as a nation only sovereignty for the states. In 1787 the Framers changed the future
of the United States of America and formed the constitution; which we still currently use. It took 9
states to ratify the constitution; 9 who believed in the best for the people. Still to this day we run our

Many things to be amended to change, add on, or reword. One thing that has a huge aspect in our
country is personal rights; way to show the constitution is at flaw is lack of specification in
Amendment 2 on what the Bearing Arms represents. The states if they agreed upon it could amend
this if they were to call a convention. The Failure to specify rights of privacy is another flaw (2). The
constitution does not specify many things but rather only idealizes the general idea. Framers made the
constitution this way. From these flaws and broad controversy s leads us into prevents us from a rise
of a powerful faction. While realizing several things do need to change in the constitution, there
should not be a brand new constitution. If we specified everything there would be fewer factions
which become dangerous in our democracy (Madison 5). Another thing that should be addressed is the
amount of power Congress possesses compared to states; the power produces lack of trust and hate
towards Congress. The reason on why people hate Congress so much is because the amount of taxes
that the citizens of the United States have to pay toward the national government, some states don t

Early Rome Research Paper
From the beginning of time until this very moment many new people groups have joined to form new
civilizations. This all then led to new ideas which they formed new concepts of how to do things such
as farming, living, government, etc. Throughout this paper, I will be talking a little bit about the early
Roman way of living, government, and their armies ways and changes, then at the end about the
scutum which is the roman shield.
Rome is located in Italy, that is shaped like a boot. It is located in the middle of the Mediterranean
world. Rome is also just located west of the Apennine Mountains, which runs 746 miles across the
peninsula of Italy. The Mountains of Italy are the southwest continuation of the Apennine Mountains.
Another reference to location is Sicily which is nearly connected to the tip of Italy. In early Rome,
they began to live right by the Mediterranean Sea, due to the convenient location they had many
advantages some such as being able to fish for their days of work and for food. Their land was also
more suitable for farming due to the fact they were near an obvious abundance of water. Then perhaps
one of the biggest advantages of this is that they were able to trade efficiently since they could use the

Desegregation In 1964 And The Civil Rights Act Of 1964
The Civil Rights Act of 1964, a turning point in the Civil Rights Movement, was passed in order to
ban discrimination in public places as well as strengthen the role of the federal government to end
segregation in public places. Also included in this act was the Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission which was established in order to ensure racial discrimination was not occurring within
employment. The aspect of desegregation was not occurring rapidly in Southern states, such as
Alabama. Not only was desegregation not occurring quickly under the Civil Rights Act of 1964 but
also the act did not address any issues with voting rights among the African American community. The
civil rights movement grew strong in southern regions especially racially tense areas such as Selma. In
the city of Selma as well as a variety of other southern regions, African Americans were harassed
when attempting to practice their fundamental rights of voting through poll taxes and literacy tests. In
1965, only 1% of African Americans were registered to vote in Selma but 50% of Selma s population
was African American. In order to address the lack of voting rights, Martin Luther King and the SNCC
worked vigorously on setting up marches to overcome the injustice that was occurring in Selma. Due
to the overly aggressive authorities in the South, a majority of the marches ended violently thus
increasing public support for new legislation to ensure the basic right of voting to the African

The Fall and Rise of Euro Disney
The Fall and Rise of Euro Disney Introduction: Euro Disney is well known as one of the greatest
failures in corporate history. Indeed, its initial lack of success was so great that, in an effort to distance
themselves from the tainted name, Disney now identifies the site as Disneyland Paris. The discussion
here lends some insight into a few of the reasons for Euro Disney s disastrous early performance.
History: The French cite for Euro Disney was established in 1985, however the process of determining
the theme park s location would be a long one. The process which began in the early 1970s, when the
Disney Corporation first seriously entertained the notion of entering the European theme park market
would, by 1984, reach a point of serious realization. At this juncture, its key decision makers were
considering as many as 1200 different locations throughout the continent, with a determined vision to
replicate the model successfully exercised in the United States, where an ideal plot of land would be
acquired and converted into its own town. (DLP, 1) This class of candidates would be whittled down
quickly according to a very large number of criteria, which would include vacation patterns of
Europeans, topography, infrastructure, climate, available land, local economy, labour market and
existing touristic attractions. (DLP, 1) Growth: From the start, Euro Disney s attendance numbers
would be dramatically disappointing, producing a considerable shortfall in early growth

Analysis Of Nietzsche s On Truth And Lies In A Nonmoral Sense
In On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense , Nietzsche seeks to explain why and how humankind has
developed our own senses of truth and in the same vein, lies. He says that the process involves taking
a stimuli and creating an image metaphor for it, and then a sound metaphor to it, which results in the
creation of language. Then, the human brain categorizes the stimuli into certain categories and into
different concepts that represent the total of unequal individualized objects and then rejects everything
that the category is not as a lie. Nietzsche argues that the processes aforementioned are impervious by
nature and completely illogical. The result is that we have created our own ideas that we call truth and
we shun the lies despite the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nietzsche calls the human race artistically creating subjects because we are able to take a stimulus
whether it be an image, smell, or sound and make a metaphorical image in our minds of what the
object is by assigning characteristics to it. Then, humans assign a metaphorical sound to represent the
stimulus, which eventually becomes the basis of language. Therefore, we have created this metaphor
to the perception of a stimulus that could change from person to person; it is completely subjective.
No child is born with this knowledge of their environment, but taught by parents or guardians. For
example, color is very subjective because if a child is raised to think that the color red is actually
called blue , he would only know it as blue. This metaphorical process, along with the need to be
social, eventually produced languages between humans and gave us a sense of truthfulness and lies,
which only entails that fact that humans are purposely using the definition of something the wrong
way in order to harm. In addition, Nietzsche also points out the cases of differing foreign languages
because nothing corresponds directly to the actual nature of a stimulus. Nietzsche argues that it is
illogical because humans made the idea of language, truth, and lie and therefore, it doesn t exist in
nature. The fact that we accept anyone that accurately describes something and shun someone that
tells a lie is completely subjective and frankly wrong, according to

Rhetorical Devices In A More Perfect Union By Barack Obama
In the 2008 United States presidential election between Barack Obama vs John McCain, Obama s
pastor mentioned several controversial and offensive remarks. These statements brought negative
publicity for Obama because of his connection towards Reverend Jeremiah Wright, he was Obama s
aforementioned pastor. With his following severely decreasing because of this, Obama had to find a
way to regain his supporters by writing the powerful speech, A More Perfect Union in which he uses a
variety of rhetorical devices such as parallelism, a paradox, hyperbole, and allusions to the past history
of the United States. The use of these devices in this speech create a strong argument of his intentions

There is a vast difference of cultures in American society and schools and Obama s goals with using
parallelism was to touch the hearts of every race with how the public schooling system is failing these
children. We want to talk about the crumbling schools that are stealing the future of black children,
and white children, and Asian children, and Hispanic children, and Native American children. He not
only acknowledges the races of these children but how poor the school system is. The use of
parallelism in this helps create a stronger argument because he shows he s not oblivious to the variety
of cultures in America which feeds into the belief that America is home of the free and accepts anyone
regardless of race, gender, and religious beliefs. Not only does he use parallelism, he also uses a
hyperbole by exaggerating the fact that students futures are being stolen from them with poor
education. This is a hyperbole because the public schooling system isn t actually stealing the futures of
these children, but he uses this rhetorical strategy to amplify the emotion and relevance of the issues
with the public school system. These rhetorical strategies are effective because of the reaction he can
get from the audience. He reminds society of the issues in every day American life, and what he d
wish to do to fix these issues. He wishes to share the same common beliefs and desires of the common
man by focusing on the issues the common man faces day to day. Parallelism and hyperboles are
strong strategies to use because of the realization and emotions it gives the audience. Obama uses
these strategies to bring in the audience and build a strong relationship between him and the audience

The meaning of spiritualism by the Fox sisters The Fox Sisters were known to be famous for being the

Small Business Administration Research
According to Small Business Administration research, only half of new businesses survive for the first
five years and only a third of new businesses are able to survive for 10 years. The inverse is
compelling as we can conclude that if only 50% of new businesses survive for the first five years, then
the other 50% fail in the first five years. We can also conclude that about 65% of new businesses don t
make it to the ten year mark.
Forbes reports an even more grim statistic, based on Bloomberg research, that of every 10 businesses,
eight fail within the first 18 months. What are the reasons businesses fail to thrive, given a 50/50
chance of survival and assuming a product or service for which there s a demand? Let s discuss six
reasons businesses fail and some ways you can avoid business failure.
Six Reasons Businesses Fail
1. Leadership Failure. Your business can fail if you exhibit poor management skills, which can be
evident in many forms. You will struggle as a leader if you don t have enough experience making
management decisions, supervising a staff, or the vision to lead your organization. Perhaps your
leadership team is not in agreement on how the business should be run. You and your leaders may be
arguing with each other publicly or contradicting each other s instructions to the staff. When problems
requiring strong leadership occur, you may be reluctant to take charge and resolve the issues while
your business continues to slip toward failure.

There s no doubt that Star Wars is one of the most impactful films of all time, having changed the
movie making game ever since it premiered in 1977. It quickly became a global phenomenon and has
accumulated some of the most passionate fans in the universe. Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope is a
great example to use in order to illustrate the properties discussed throughout the course. In this paper,

Science fiction is broadly defined as a film about the future or alternate realities, often but not always
set in space, and frequently incorporating horror elements, science fiction movies are wildly popular
among fans (Goodykoontz, 2014). As a subgenre of fantasy, science fiction enables viewers to relate
to themes from an idealized alternative version of reality (Edwards, 2014). Star Wars: Episode IV A
New Hope is a feature length film that fits this genre perfectly. Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope
unfolds as princess named Leia is held hostage by the evil Imperial forces in their effort to quell the
rebellion against the Galactic Empire. Luke Skywalker and a smuggler named Han Solo team together
with the lovable droid duo, R2 D2 and C 3PO, to rescue the beautiful princess and restore justice in

Knowledge Based Theory of the Firm
Knowledge Based Theory of the Firm by R.M. Grant
Assumptions * Firms apply knowledge to the production of good and services * Knowledge is the
most strategically important of a firm s resources * Knowledge is created and held by individuals, not
organizations * Firms exist because markets are incapable of coordinating the knowledge of individual
specialists. This is the role of the management within a firm.
Coordination of Specialized Knowledge

Thus, procedures are established that assign responsibilities for various functions. It is these decisions
that determine the organizational structure.
In an organization of any size or complexity, employees responsibilities typically are defined by what
they do, who they report to, and for managers, who reports to them. Over time these definitions are
assigned to positions in the organization rather than to specific individuals. The relationships among
these positions are illustrated graphically in an organizational chart (see Figures 1a and 1b). The best
organizational structure for any organization depends on many factors including the work it does; its
size in terms of employees, revenue, and the geographic dispersion of its facilities; and the range of its
businesses (the degree to which it is diversified across markets).
There are multiple structural variations that organizations can take on, but there are a few basic
principles that apply and a small number of common patterns. The following sections explain these
patterns and provide the historical context from which some of them arose. The first section addresses
organizational structure in the twentieth century. The second section provides additional details of
traditional, vertically arranged organizational structures. This is followed by descriptions of several
alternate organizational structures including those arranged by product, function, and geographical or

Iago s Immorality
Shakespeare s Iago is one of Shakespeare s most complex villains. At first glance Iago s character
seems to be pure evil. However, such a villain would distract from the impact of the play and would
be trite. Shakespeare to add depth to his villain makes him amoral, as opposed to the typical immoral
villain. Iago s entire scheme begins when the ignorant, ill suited Cassio is given the position he
desired. Iago is consumed with envy and plots to steal the position he feels he most justly deserves.
Iago deceives, steals, and kills to gain that position. However, it is not that Iago pushes aside his
conscience to commit these acts, but that he lacks a conscience to begin with. Iago s amorality can be

There is a lot of irony that kills Iago, and what seems to be good for him is worse for other people. He
manages to betray almost every person that comes across him, and he will always be happy when he
sees others working unwittingly to fulfill his purposes. Iago is a concept more than a character, and the
play provides us with a series of images he calls it a panopticon that successively produce an
understanding of this concept. The concept of Iago reveals that evil is a pathological derivative of
ordinary human practices, that it depends on the good and is secondary to it. In its pure form evil can
hardly be understood as a human practice (Escobedo, 2010). The greatest vulnerabilities that Iago sees
in other people is that he will use them, and then he will ultimately destroy them, because of his love

The Positive Aspects Of Bureaucracy
1. One of the positive aspects of bureaucracy that covers so many scenarios is it fosters impartiality.
The structure in bureaucracy commands responsibility by all and that structure also provides security
in many situations for those within the bureaucratic system as well as those impacted by that system.
2. A crisis situation I m familiar with is one that has occurred at a local middle school and a leader has
immerged within a group of students. That person doesn t even realize she is considered the leader but
many of the true leaders realize it and are attempting to use her leadership to help solve the crisis. The
crisis began on the second week of school when a number of teachers were displaced from their
assignment at this particular school. This displacement caused a lot of emotional pushback by other
teachers, parents and most definitely students. One particular student moved quickly in an attempt to
rally the students to support the displaced teachers. Though she was only able to get two other
students to participate with her and speak that night at the school board meeting, their bravery stood
out to members of the school board as well as administration within the school. The video of their
moving speeches has been shared over and over on social media. The situation did contribute to the
emergence of the leader as she was directly impacted by the displacement of teachers though it did not
necessarily demand it. When she attended

Loss Of Knowledge In Orthodoxy
In Orthodoxy the question of gaining or obtaining knowledge is quite different from any philosophical
system or religion. Knowledge isn t merely defined as an understanding of theoretical concepts, but
rather it is founded on a deep and personal relationship with God. In this mystery gnosis is revealed by
God to man. In the prologue of Vladimir Lossky s Orthodox Theology an Introduction he states,
...among the ascetics of the Christian East gnosis constitutes the peak of the life of prayer (13).
Through this encounter in prayer we are led to the incarnation of the Word which leads us to the
Father in the Spirit (13). At this point mysticism and theological teaching becomes inseparable. The
two are necessary for no true theological understanding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his first epistle St John states, As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and
you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that
anointing is real, not counterfeit just as it has taught you, remain in him. (1 John 2:20). At the surface
this may seem to be negating all theological thought or deeming it unnecessary for the Christian. This
gnosis is experienced personally between man and God and the personal presence is alive in every
Christian who seeks such a relationship. However, there is a difference between experiencing this
thought in a contemplative and personal matter and then actually uttering the mysteries for the
edification of the world. This is a specific gift that is founded upon the inspiration of the Spirit. There
is a need for us to explain theological thought simply because it is for the healing of man. Therefore
the Church takes the examples of many fathers who have been given such a gift. St. James warns us of
this fact when he says, Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you
know that we who teach will be judged more strictly (James 3:1). Therefore, while the utterance and
teaching of theological teachings isn t a gift given to all, the inner experience is given generously to all
who desire it. However, even in this teaching it isn t only limited to those who teach, but the Spirit
gives grace to those who listen as well (Lossky 18). For what use would theological teaching be if
there aren t those who desire to hear and learn the teachings of God revealed to

Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Essay
Clotilde Terranova was one of the 146 victims of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire. The Triangle
Shirtwaist Factory Fire was a fire on the top three floors of the Asch Building in Brooklyn, New York.
No one knows the real cause of the fire. Most believe it started when someone tossed a burning
cigarette bud into the scrap bin on the eighth floor. The building itself was fireproof, but there was so
many flammable things inside the building that caused the fire to spread so rapidly. Terranova was on

The World Can Benefit From Water Privatization
The concept of race outlives slavery and limits emancipation through the manifested ideals of white
supremacy and white privilege. The criminal justice system sets back colored communities by
arranging political boundaries and looking back on the precedent set by the emancipation

Movement, and Neoliberal Capitalism, some multinational companies attempt to privatize water.

They share ideology that the Caucasian race is superior and actions should be taken to eliminate or

views taken against the community whose water is at risk. Those standing to privatize water are
selectively choosing impoverished areas in order to generate a profit and dehumanize the area. They
carefully select the area, their target and how they approach the situation with the most beneficial
outcome. In Walter Rodney s essay, How Europe Underdeveloped , he discusses how Europe
underdeveloped Africa and those repercussions. Africa s circumstances in the early 1900 s are similar
to the water privatization movement. Rodney states, The combination of being oppressed, being

  • 2. City of God Review October 10, 2010 St. Augustine s work, The City of God, portrays the Roman virtue and describes it s affect on the manners of the Romans. Though the people did not worship God, St. Augustine points out that God still blessed them by increasing their dominion. In this text, Augustine finds many aspects of the ethos Roman Empire both admirable and problematic. He does this in a way that gives the reader a better understanding on his views of how to live a life dedicated to God. He also shows the problems of living for other men rather than living for the righteousness of God. Augustine speaks of the manners of the ancient Romans, and shows in what sense it was due to the virtue of the Romans themselves, and in how far to the counsel of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shows the greatness with being pure in all ways and waiting for the good things in life and not being greedy. I really think this is Augustine way to show respect towards the pure and admire what they have done for God. In To What Profit the Romans Carried on Wars, and How Much They Contributed to the Well Being of Those Whom They Conquered, Augustine wrote that humans, because mortal and are only on earth for so long, shouldn t be concerned over whose government a dying man lives, if they who govern do not force him to impiety and iniquity? The Romans tried to impose laws and regulations on nations they took over but they themselves did not live by these. If everyone was under the Roman Empire, than everyone in that empire should have the same privileges and rights. It does no good, according to Augustine, to do this. Take away outward show, and what are all men after all but men? But even though the perversity of the age should permit that all the better men should be more highly honored than others, neither thus should human honor be held at a great price, for it is smoke which has no weight. Men that may not seem as if they have accomplished much greatness in the eyes of other men may have done just the opposite. ...the citizens of so great a country may not seem to themselves to have done anything very great, if, in order to obtain it, they have done some good works or endured some evils, when those men ... • 3. Essay On Gmo Genetically Modified Organisms Over the last few years, many people and news organization talk about the use of GMO s and how they are not safe for our health. The process of genetically modifying foods has been tested and researched and in recent years has been more widely used by giant corporations and some farmers. Scientists have altered seeds and grown food synthetically. The government says that GMO s are not harmful and has publicly stated that they feel it will solve world hunger. Many studies have shown that the reproduction of food in this manner is harmful. Many scientists believe that it is not the product but how it is being used. The corporations are utilizing bad water, bad soil, and extremely harmful pesticides. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The option to genetically modify food seemed the lesser of two evils, to those that would turn a blind eye to the corporate giants. We are way overpopulated and our resources can only extend so far and a solution needs to be in play however in the proper hands. In order for me to come up with a clearer solution, I feel the public needs to see the results of four different crops and four animal farms over another ten year span. One from Monsanto Corporation, one organic, on a typical farm with non modified seeds and animals and one genetically modified farmer grown with good soil , good water and no or non harmful pesticides. All four sources used in this annotated bibliography, provided in depth good research covering the last decade from reputable sources. One article was directly from a researcher on the GMO project. Without further testing and the proper handling GMOs could have a very bad reaction to the animal and human population. McLure, Jason. Genetically Modified Food. CQ Researcher 31 Aug. 2012: 717 40. Web. 20 Oct. 2014. This article specifically discusses what voters the people of the United States think should be done with the GMO products. A large group wants GMOs banned. • 4. The Ethics Of Embryonic Stem Cells Problem The society is not at an agreeable point when it comes to the research of stem cells obtained from human embryos. The disagreement narrows down to a clash between the two fundamental principles of ethics: The duty to prevent and alleviate suffering, and the duty to respect the value of human life. In most situations, both principles can be satisfied. However, in the research of embryonic stem cells, it might not be inherently possible. Generally, the clash between the two principles is not created by a violation of the duty to prevent or alleviate suffering. In fact, it is the prime purpose of the research. On the other hand, depending on the consideration of the statues of the embryo, the research might violate the duty to respect the value of life. If the embryo is considered a person, its research would be a violation to human life; if the embryo is not considered a person, there would be no violation to human life. Such consideration of the human embryo is the factor responsible for the clash. What do the statues of the embryo and the ethical principle of life have to do with the research of embryonic stem cells? Well, in order to perform a research, a new line of stem cells has to be developed. When the cells are extracted from the blastocyst, the embryo is destroyed since it cannot persist without its inner cells. If the embryo is considered a person, we are then killing a person, as well as violating the ethical principle of respecting the value of life. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New Economic Imperialism Essay example New Economic Imperialism Those in power define national interests as the preservation of the existing set of economic, social, and political relationships. Therefore, the national interest of the supranational capitalist society is the interests of the upper class, allied throughout the globe. The United States capitalist class has proposed to preserve and extend U.S. capitalism by a policy of empire building to satisfy the need for large export markets that could supply cheap inputs and guarantee consumption. The road to the current economic imperial structure prevalent in international affairs is a long and complicated one. During the twentieth century the capitalist elite began forming organizations in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Top executives from the worlds leading multinational corporations meet with top national political figures at Bilderberg meetings to consider jointly the immediate and long term problems facing the West. When Bilderberg participants reach a form of consensus about what is to be done, they have at their disposal powerful transnational and national instruments for bringing about what it is they want to come to pass. (Sklar 158) Officials from the OECD, NATO, the IMF, World Bank, and GATT (now WTO) regularly attend. Since the members are in a position of such executive power, when the group reaches a consensus the capitalist West is likely to act on it, more or less, as a unit. By far the most dominant and intriguing wing of the imperialist structure has been its economic influences on the Third World. The Greenhouse Gas Protocol Reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission, particularly from industrial production, to combat global climate change is one of the biggest sustainable development challenge for the international community. Countries are adopting Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs), low carbon development strategies and climate change policies to tackle issues of climate change and at the same time meet their development goals. At the global level, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and Kyoto Protocol, have paved ways for voluntary GHG emission reduction targets. Source: WRI and WBCSD, 2007: 21 GHG Reporting Programme In simple terms, accounting and reporting of GHG programme begins with identification of programme objectives. These objectives may range from voluntary action like tracking progress towards GHG reduction targets; supporting national climate change strategies; supporting GHG trading programs; facilitating GHG mitigation activities; to provide information to shareholders and investors. Once the objectives are decided, the programme decides on which GHG accounting principles to adopt. Such process implements basic principles like relevance, completeness, consistency, transparency, and accuracy of data. After the base year has been selected the process follows internationally accepted GHG accounting methodologies (see available protocols and standards below), which can be modified to suit the requirement of the country or company. After the objectives and the methodologies are agreed upon, the programme design will decide on sectors, sources and gases that the programme covers. The report is prepared using a format that is standard and generally accepted. However, there can be variations in the report; it only depends on the circumstances of the work and the engagement of the auditor (Asare Wright pg. 198). An auditor s opinion can either be a clean opinion, qualified opinion, adverse opinion or a disclaimer opinion. An honest opinion is given if the financial statements show a fair representation of an organization s financial position. A qualified opinion is offered if there were any limiting factors imposed on the work of the auditor. An adverse opinion is delivered if there was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the two audit reports of 2014, and 2015 we can see that there was communication between both parties that is the auditors and the accountants of the firm. The ISA was used as a guideline on how the auditors communicated with the accountants by guiding the auditing team on the specific items that needed communication with the governance group. This enabled both teams to understand matters that related to audit and also was a base for a working relationship that was constructive. The auditors focused on this ISA to ensure that they remained objective, transparent, and independent as they conducted the audit of the financial statements of the enterprise and also the reporting of the audited information (Andon O Dwyer, pg. 1400). The audit reports of 2014 and 2015 use the ISA 570 where the auditor responsibility has to audit the financial reports about how the management uses the going concern aspect when preparing the financial statements. Therefore, the going concern assumption allows one to view a company as a business that will continue with its operations in the future. Additionally, the management prepares their financial reports using this assumption unless the organization intends to cease its operations or liquidate their assets (Bhattacharyya, pg 20). Therefore, the auditors in both reports show that the organization is going to continue with their transactions shortly because the assets together with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Partition Of Chapel And State Essay At the point when Thomas Jefferson initially utilized the expression mass of detachment, it is sure that he never would have expected the contention that encompasses that term two centuries later. The representation has turned out to be powerful to the point that more Americans are more acquainted with Jefferson s expression than with the genuine dialect of the Constitution.{1} In one sense, the possibility of partition of chapel and state is a precise portrayal of what must happen between the two establishments. History is loaded with cases (e.g., the Inquisition) of the risks that emerge when the establishments of chapel and state turn out to be excessively interwoven. However, the contemporary idea of detachment of chapel and state goes a long ways past the acknowledgment that the two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main clear proclamation about religion in the Constitution can be found in the First Amendment and we will take a gander at its administrative history later in this article. Thomas Jefferson utilized the expression detachment of chapel and state when he kept in touch with the Danbury Baptist Association in 1802. At that point the expression slipped into lack of clarity. Analysis Of Nietzsche s On Truth And Lies In A Nonmoral Sense In On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense , Nietzsche seeks to explain why and how humankind has developed our own senses of truth and in the same vein, lies. He says that the process involves taking a stimuli and creating an image metaphor for it, and then a sound metaphor to it, which results in the creation of language. Then, the human brain categorizes the stimuli into certain categories and into different concepts that represent the total of unequal individualized objects and then rejects everything that the category is not as a lie. Nietzsche calls the human race artistically creating subjects because we are able to take a stimulus whether it be an image, smell, or sound and make a metaphorical image in our minds of what the object is by assigning characteristics to it. Then, humans assign a metaphorical sound to represent the stimulus, which eventually becomes the basis of language. Therefore, we have created this metaphor to the perception of a stimulus that could change from person to person; it is completely subjective. No child is born with this knowledge of their environment, but taught by parents or guardians. For example, color is very subjective because if a child is raised to think that the color red is actually called blue , he would only know it as blue. This metaphorical process, along with the need to be social, eventually produced languages between humans and gave us a sense of truthfulness and lies, which only entails that fact that humans are purposely using the definition of something the wrong way in order to harm. In addition, Nietzsche also points out the cases of differing foreign languages because nothing corresponds directly to the actual nature of a stimulus. Nietzsche argues that it is illogical because humans made the idea of language, truth, and lie and therefore, it doesn t exist in nature. The relationships among these positions are illustrated graphically in an organizational chart (see Figures 1a and 1b). Iago s entire scheme begins when the ignorant, ill suited Cassio is given the position he desired. Iago is consumed with envy and plots to steal the position he feels he most justly deserves. Iago deceives, steals, and kills to gain that position. However, it is not that Iago pushes aside his conscience to commit these acts, but that he lacks a conscience to begin with. Iago s amorality can be seen throughout the play and is demonstrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a lot of irony that kills Iago, and what seems to be good for him is worse for other people. He manages to betray almost every person that comes across him, and he will always be happy when he sees others working unwittingly to fulfill his purposes. Iago is a concept more than a character, and the play provides us with a series of images he calls it a panopticon that successively produce an understanding of this concept. The concept of Iago reveals that evil is a pathological derivative of ordinary human practices, that it depends on the good and is secondary to it. In its pure form evil can hardly be understood as a human practice (Escobedo, 2010). The greatest vulnerabilities that Iago sees in other people is that he will use them, and then he will ultimately destroy them, because of his love for being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A crisis situation I m familiar with is one that has occurred at a local middle school and a leader has immerged within a group of students. That person doesn t even realize she is considered the leader but many of the true leaders realize it and are attempting to use her leadership to help solve the crisis. • 32. Loss Of Knowledge In Orthodoxy In Orthodoxy the question of gaining or obtaining knowledge is quite different from any philosophical system or religion. Knowledge isn t merely defined as an understanding of theoretical concepts, but rather it is founded on a deep and personal relationship with God. In this mystery gnosis is revealed by God to man. In the prologue of Vladimir Lossky s Orthodox Theology an Introduction he states, ...among the ascetics of the Christian East gnosis constitutes the peak of the life of prayer (13). Through this encounter in prayer we are led to the incarnation of the Word which leads us to the Father in the Spirit (13). At this point mysticism and theological teaching becomes inseparable. The two are necessary for no true theological understanding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his first epistle St John states, As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit just as it has taught you, remain in him. (1 John 2:20). At the surface this may seem to be negating all theological thought or deeming it unnecessary for the Christian. This gnosis is experienced personally between man and God and the personal presence is alive in every Christian who seeks such a relationship. However, there is a difference between experiencing this thought in a contemplative and personal matter and then actually uttering the mysteries for the edification of the world. This is a specific gift that is founded upon the inspiration of the Spirit. There is a need for us to explain theological thought simply because it is for the healing of man. Therefore the Church takes the examples of many fathers who have been given such a gift. St. James warns us of this fact when he says, Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly (James 3:1). Therefore, while the utterance and teaching of theological teachings isn t a gift given to all, the inner experience is given generously to all who desire it. However, even in this teaching it isn t only limited to those who teach, but the Spirit gives grace to those who listen as well (Lossky 18). For what use would theological teaching be if there aren t those who desire to hear and learn the teachings of God revealed to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
