Vital Performance Measurement System Analysis
Brief audit of applicable writing
Vital Performance Measurement System (SPMS) can be both practical and broken for associations.
SPMS can help associations characterize and accomplish their key targets, adjust practices and
mentalities and, at last, positively affect hierarchical execution. Notwithstanding, SPMS has likewise
been scrutinized for a few reasons, for example, empowering unreasonable practices, smothering
development and learning, and having little impact on basic leadership forms. On the off chance that
both points of view are legitimate, by what method can associations make SPM a greater amount of an
advantage and to a lesser degree an obligation?
In this article, we contend that the outline of a SPM framework (SPMS) and ... Show more content on

Besides, SPM can add to the distinguishing proof of new open doors and to invigorate authoritative
learning [14]. For example, as the creators of the investigated papers underscore, adjusting money
related and non budgetary markers or slacking and driving pointers can produce both input and
feedforward circles. In this manner, SPM can be utilized to assemble information about past
execution, additionally to actualize key goals. This majority of parts is not as a matter of course
positive or negative, but instead stresses how diverse SPMSs satisfy distinctive requirements and how
there is no one size fits all estimation framework. As a result, the drivers and motivations behind each
execution marker and of the entire SPMS ought to be expressly characterized during the time spent
outline, and imparted amid usage. This is especially vital, as the advantages of the estimation
framework unequivocally rely on upon both its attributes and its proposed

How Does Sowat Use Personification In Never Cry Wolf
Wolves are a vital part of animal s well being. In the book Never Cry Wolf by Farley Mowat, Mowat
goes to study wolves in the middle of barren Canada. In Canada he meets an Eskimo named Mike and
he stays in his cabin while he finds a wolf den to study. He studies how pups grow up and how the
wolves hunt, also their diet. He finds out how the caribou are disappearing, and estimates how many
are killed in a certain amount of time. Along with many other things Mowat uses Logos with
Personification and Characterization to explain how the wolves are not savage killers. Mowat uses
Personification to prove wolves are not savage killers. In the book Never Cry Wolf when Mowat is
alone studying the wolves he begins to give them names and personalities. I can only attribute to the
fact that George s sense of humor, which was well developed, led him to accept the affair as a crude
practical joke (110). Mowat had set some mouse traps to catch mice to study and dissect, but the wolf
he called George walked through them and ran home. George understood it as a joke. George and
Angeline also played jokes on Uncle Albert which is the 3rd wolf. The fact that all of the wolves play
and mess around with each other proves that Mowat uses Personification to prove that wolves are not

Abortion And The Logistics Of Sandra Day O Connor s Case
Abortion was declared a fundamental right in 1973, which divided American society into two groups
(in simplest form), pro life and pro choice. Pro life groups, pertaining of mostly religious persons,
believe that life is precious, beginning at the time of conception. Pro life groups declared that abortion
is to be considered murder and is unethical. However, those who oppose that belief, pro choice, say
that it is a decision for the woman to take. After various cases and argumentation, the Supreme Court
declared that it is more beneficial for abortion to become a legal act, rather than having women
unsafely abort their fetus, causing great health risks. The goal of this paper is to discuss, with all
rationality and reason, the logistics of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sandra Day O Connor, wrote in the 1992 decision in Planned Parenthood v. Casey the following, the
ability of women to participate equally in the economic and social life of the Nation has been
facilitated by their ability to control their reproductive lives. This social justice allows women to
experience a citizenship stature and the ability to practice their legal right. This may be true, however,
this begs the question is the baby a part of the woman s body or is it its own entity? The placenta and
the umbilical cord are the organs by which a fetus or a baby is connected to his/her mother. This
however, is more for separation from the fetus and the mother. Biologically, a fetus has its own
circulatory system and their blood must not intermingle. Nonetheless, a fetus needs nutritional
resources, which are obtained through the umbilical cord. This is to show that a fetus is not a tumor,
growing within a cavity of a woman and does not have barriers, rather, the two (the mother and the
fetus) biologically take extreme measures to set barriers for the safety of both the fetus and the mother.
This is to conclude the possibility of the woman s body and a fetus being two distinct organisms.
Amongst all these things, it is crucial to still maintain the perspective of women s rights and their right
to choose. Nonetheless, the fact and truth about the life of an individual ought not to be

Social Reform In The Progressive Era
The Progressive Era s reform efforts were conducted by the Progressives who were mainly middle
class, passionately religious, men and women who had extra time, money, and resources to dedicate to
the reform efforts (Schultz, 2014). Women and followers of the Social Gospel movement were the two
main groups behind the reform. Progressive reformers set out to end corruption in politics, improve
lives of all humans, and boost governments intervention to safeguard citizens. The Social Gospel
Movement was huge in the fight against prostitution, trying to end poverty, and achieving social
justice. Two main leaders were Washington Gladden and Walter Rauschenbusch who hit hard

the first movements of this error was that of the prohibition of alcohol in 1919 by one of the more well
known organizations The Women s Christian Temperance Movement. Some of the great women
leaders of this time were Ida B Wells Barnett who let the drive against the lynching of African
Americans. Jane Adams set up the Chicago s Hull House which educated and helped local immigrants.
Charlotte Hawkins Brown helped to secure a good education for black children. Margaret Sanger tried
to convince all that birth control was important in family lives and Florence Kelly battled to protect
working woman s rights. These women help to change the world of the woman from a homemaker

Alexander Pope and Women Essay example
Alexander Pope may have been the adversary of female behavior the extent of this has long been in
question. The writer s satirical style towards the women of his era is evidence of his opinions.
However, there are noticeable facts that generate a swaying effect on Pope s views and the meaning of
The Rape of the Lock. These details consist of the author s personal life and symbolism contained in
his mock epic poem, including the voices of Bella and Clarissa, which is an indication that he may not
have had the hardened heart towards women that everyone assumed he had. While any evaluation on
Alexander Pope s personal opinion will conclude with a questioning of who he truly was behind his
literary persona, a thorough research provides solid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beauty was of utmost importance and to climb any social ladder, a pleasing outward appearance was
to be achieved.
The Rape of the Lock does an excellent job of portraying this thoughtlessness that the women had
during the Eighteenth Century. In the mock poem a woman who has her hair cut off and stolen appears
to be an action that expresses hilarious sarcastic wit. However this storyline was not just humorous but
has a sad underlying tone owing to the fact that a woman in the Eighteenth Century would have taken
these circumstances to a serious degree. Alexander Pope expressed his opinion of women in a frank
and aggressive manner. As Elizabeth King put it in her notes about The Rape of the Lock, it styled
woman a goddess and regarded her as little better than a doll (77), this clarifies Pope s respect of
women during his time.
The prime example of Pope s opinion is written through his character Belinda, in The Rape of the
Lock. In the poem, Belinda is the epitome of loveliness and femininity. The qualities she possesses are
not of intellect or wholesome attitude, but the beauty she was born with overpowers any need for
intelligence. Due to this, a Sylph named Ariel who was once a woman of similar beauty and class as
Belinda protects her, along with the nymphs who were once too, of pleasing disposition in their human
life. Throughout the story they keep watch over her and Ariel guards her heart from being overtaken

Ogilvie s Syndrome Case Report
Introduction
This case report seeks to highlight a rather uncommon yet important complication of caesarean
section; Ogilvie s Syndrome (OS). This syndrome describes the phenomenon of an acute colonic
pseudo obstruction (ACPO), often without an obvious mechanical cause. The obstruction can then
lead on to bowel perforation or ischemia.
Case Report
We present a case of a young, healthy primigravida who developed OS on Day 6 post caesarean
section (CS), complicated by a perforated caecum and fecal peritonitis. We will summarize the
sequence of events, management and outcome of the patient in this report.

Art Of Scapegoating Essay
The concept of scapegoating has been around almost as long as human beings. We have proof from as
far back as the time of the ancient Israelites that human societies would use ritualistic sacrifice of
goats to absolve the people of their sins and bring that society together. And although the ritual of
scapegoating uses an actual goat for sacrifice, the act of scapegoating can utilize any third party as a
sacrifice to absorb the guilt of others. A similar concept to scapegoating is the idea of the Suffering
Servant as first described in the Book of Isaiah. The Suffering Servant willingly atones for the sins of
others and suffers the punishment in their stead. The original Suffering Servant was the people of
Israel who were living in exile ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps the most comprehensive essay on the origins and effects of scapegoating was written by René
Girard. Girard described a cycle of rivalry between two parties where one person s achievement or
desire of something creates envy and competition between others who become jealous and also begin
to desire these things. This rivalry creates ever growing tension and conflict between these people
whose desires only increase over time. The increasing animosity inevitably leads to an outbreak of
violence and chaos, where the only way of stopping the hostility is through the sacrifice of a (semi)
innocent third party who takes all of the blame, the scapegoat. The third party is an unwilling victim,
and they must be believed to be completely guilty for the scapegoat effect to take place: A scapegoat
effect that can be acknowledged as such by the scapegoaters is no longer effective, it is no longer a
scapegoat effect (Girard, 1996, p. 14). After the scapegoat, has been sacrificed the warring people are
reunited and peace returns. This peace is only fleeting, however, as mimetic cycle of rivalry will soon
begin again and lead to conflict once more. This is why ritualistic scapegoating sacrifices must be
repeated the scapegoat effect is never

That Tally Stick
So many people have keepsakes to symbolize their love for one another. Couples have pictures and
mementos to remind them of their special times. In The Tally Stick , Jarold Ramsey introduces us to a
couple who use a tally stick rather than pictures to represent what is important in their lives. Ramsey
takes us from the beginning of the relationship, when the stick is bare, to the end when it is carved end
to end. We learn of the outside events that build their love, as well as internal measure, upon which
their love is built. According to Ramsey the stick is a part of the couple s relationship. The tally stick
shows that love can be a long lasting bond defined by failure and success that strengthen their
relationship. Before there is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our tally stick is whittled nearly end to end; delicate as scrimshaw, it would not bear you up (20).
Ramsey mentions that the stick is polished with regrets. Because they both have regrets that helped
build their love, the couple clusters those regrets with all other mishaps hand over hand (22). The
author ends the poem with the couple looking back on everything they have done. Running their
fingers from beginning to end they will explore everything that shaped their relationship and forgive
each other s regrets. Ramsey refers to their blameless eyes, telling us that the two no longer blame one
another and can go on loving through old age. Starting from when they were children, they follow the
grain all the way to adulthood and talk softly as of ordinary matters and in one another s blameless
eyes go blind (27). The Tally Stick is symbolic of everything this couple shares with each other. It not
only shows special occasions like a picture but tells a detailed story of their life together. The couple
relives the significant times they spent together by running their thumbs through the intricate notches.
Detailed depictions of their wedding, the births of their children, the tragedies they have gone through
can all be found within the stick. This stick defines the relationship, and is part of the each of them.
The marks indicating internal events are the ones that remain special and are intricately drawn, where

Office Apparel Research Paper
The combination of Women s fashion and proper office apparel offers a unique challenge to any
fashion designer; and the fashion trend for Spring 2009 is no exception. For Spring 2009 the fashion
industry offers fabrics that are sheer, soft and flowing and full of color. Platform heels are back as well

sense of being well put together when shoes and purse or handbag match. 4. Cardigans Spring 2009
has cardigans back with a vengeance, and this year they have ¾ sleeves. They are accented with large
buttons. They can be worn buttoned up (not the top button) as a top, or they can be worn opened, with
a matching camisole, depending on your attire for the day. 5. Pants Fabric choices for Spring 2009 are
soft and flowing, and that goes for slacks as well. A nice cotton blend is a good choice, and will be
comfortable when the days get warmer. If your boss or supervisor doesn t mind, cropped pants are
very stylish this spring, and look very nice and professional. I have listed here a couple of websites

Essay on Threat to Internet Privacy
Threat to Internet Privacy
Abstract
At what level is Internet surveillance by the United States government acceptable to society,
considering a balance between security and privacy, what are the short and long term implications, and
how does it affect the rest of the world.
Introduction
Privacy from governments has been under assault increasing amounts in the last 100 years.
Technology has revolutionized the concept, as before we had microphones, telephones, wiretaps,
video cameras, someone would actually need to trespass to violate your privacy. For example, you
would need to actually be in someone?s house to eavesdrop on his or her conversation without
technological help[1]. Privacy protection can be looked at as how ... Show more content on

But a prudent teacher could buy them in another town to avoid this act being discovered by the school.
But with computer technology, the bar code on the condoms could be tied to the credit card number
and to the school records, informing the school that a teacher made an unacceptable purchase[2],
potentially costing the teacher his or her job. Current technology makes such a scenario feasible.
However, such a compilation of publicly available information seems like quite an intrusion of
privacy.
Yet, this ability to track someone?s actions could be used to catch potential criminals and terrorists. A
terrorist could research how to make a bomb online, take flight lessons, and communicate with other
terrorists over email. If this activity were properly monitored, the terrorist could be caught before any
harm was done. Current practices of monitoring based on the Patriot Act have been given credit for
catching more terrorists than ever before[3]. At what level are we willing to give up our personal
privacy for security?
The United States has long had a practice of respecting privacy and considering it an individual right.
In 1890, the U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis stated that individuals have a ?right to be left
alone?[4]. The courts have used this repeatedly as the basis for upholding personal privacy, though
just as often overlooked this right when

One goal is to expose children to reading, and the other goal is to help the children visualize what is
trying to be expressed in the book through the illustrations or pictures. Analogously, The Curious
Incident of the Dog in Night Time uses picture to help the reader visualize important aspects of the
book. For many adults, they think that pictures in a book are silly, but in this case it adds to the
disorder of this novel. Christopher explains, ... Mrs. Peters cuts round the picture with a Stanley knife
and then you put ink on the lino and press it onto the paper, which is why all the cars looked the same,
because I did one car and pressed it onto the paper 9 times (Haddon 27). Does the reader really need to
know the specific details of Christopher s card to his mother? Probably not, but it helps characterize
Christopher and show how his brain works. Many people may say that the picture takes away from the
order of the book, but it adds detail to the book instead. Another time Christopher uses a diagram is
when he is in the train station. Christopher describes his surroundings, But the train station in Swindon

autism is what causes him to visualize the map in his head. Lots of people would think it is imbecilic

Factory farms having locked doors only reinforces what some of us already suspect. That they are
engaging in activities appalling to the public. Their secrecy is seemingly sustaining their business.
Consumers ignorance of the meat production business only encourages inhumane animal husbandry.
Foer says, the power brokers of factory farming know that their business model depends on consumers
not being able to see (or hear about) what they do. (pg. 87) This is why we need to educate ourselves
on this matter extensively and start actively demanding where our meat is coming from. Advocating
for animal welfare is one way we can begin the process of changing or ultimately ending factory
farming.
It s problematic that we don t question the food we eat whether it be from McDonalds or a fancy

In most cases, nature has designated mothers as the caretaker for the raising of offspring. Few argue
the fact that mothers have been the individuals to love and nurture children. From the beginning
recorded history, a mother s first duty was to her husband and then to children, based on traditional
and religious role definitions. But as the traditional families continued to change and evolve, fathers
have been forced to accept the multiple roles required to raise the children alone. Dads have become
moms in a sense.
As modern fathers have become adequate mothers in the single parent family unit, the notion that a
mother is the only nurturing individual in the family is simply not true now. The qualities of love,
patience, and compassion are not gender bound ( Single Dads 2001). Society has long been
transforming men from the cavemen lumbering to skilled hunter gatherers to loving husbands and to
caring parents. As single mothers have had to take on traditional paternal responsibilities as financial
providers and disciplinarians, so to have fathers accepted the traditional maternal roles in the home,
and as caregiver. Cooking and cleaning are shared responsibilities in the family now. Consequently,
men have taken the responsibility to change diapers, wipe runny noses, bathe and comfort their
hurting children in two parent households. Research shows that children benefit greatly when a father
is more involved in the nurturing of his children. So

Reflection Of I Am Malala
One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world. This inspirational saying by Malala
Yousafzai helped my understanding of what has been happening in Pakistan and many other countries
all over the world. It shows us how important the littlest things can be and how by ourselves, we can
make an impact on the world. In the book, I am Malala, by Malala Yousafzai, Malala explained how
as a child, she was denied education because of the Taliban (a group of terrorists) and she chose to do
something about it: she spoke out against them. When they tried to retaliate, even more people joined
her cause for justice. In a similar case, Arnold (Junior), in the book The absolute Diary of a Part TIme
Indian, was a boy living on a North American Indian reservation (rez) where unlike Malala, he was
able to go to school, but his schools were very bad. Mr. P, his teacher, told him that if he does not
leave the res, that he will not get any further in life. He decided to transfer to Reardan, a school
outside of the reservation, where he knows that it will not be easy. He faces discrimination and he is
exposed to more and more of the terrible things that happen in the world. And even though we learn
from him that living on an Indian reservation is not a walk in the park, and that even living there does
not compare to going to school at Reardan. Unfortunately for these two characters, they have both
faced hardships that have deeply affected their lives. These stories show that when someone is in an
environment that makes them lose their innocence, sometimes they also lose faith in humanity; when
that has happened to someone, they might want to stand up for the other people with similar struggles.
Innocence is something that people are born with but it can be lost due to tragic circumstances.
Because of the Taliban, Malala Yousafzai lost her innocence when the Taliban threatened her home.
Each day after school my brothers and I would race home and lock the doors. No more playing cricket
in the alley. No more playing hide and seek in the street. No more candy from the sky. (Malala, 57).
Malala learned to be afraid of the Taliban. This was something that Malala had to live with. The
Taliban threatened her father and

The Stanislavski s System Essay
The Stanislavski s System
Konstantin Sergeivich Stanislavski was born in 1863 and dies in 1938. He was a Russian actor,
director and acting trainer. In 1898 together with Nemirovich Danchenko, he founded the Moscow Art
Theatre.
=====================================================================
Stanislavski believed that theatre was about working together, he recognized the need to improve the
theatre practice of his time and saw actors needed methods to help them act well and consistently. To
solve these problems he developed what was later to be called The System. It was a rational process of
techniques and exercises designed to train and develop the actor s skills. The areas ... Show more

The idea was to help them perceive and understand the logical development of the text and find the
core of the play. These large units were then given titles which defined their objectives and were then
sub divided again into smaller units for ease of scene and character development in rehearsal.
The superobjective, when deciding on the superobjective the cast simply had to come up with a simple
sentence that summed up the significance of the play as a whole, taking into account their
interpretations of the authors intentions. Stanislavski believed that this helped the actors focus on a
key idea, which they were all contributing to through their role in the performance. Therefor he
believed it was important that all of the actors involved in the production to know and agree on the
superobjective.
The method of physical actions, This idea grew from Stanislavski s feeling that his actors were being
overwhelmed by too much character and plot detail at an early stage of the rehearsal process. He
believed this led them to try to hard, which resulted in physical and mental tension. In the last five
years of his life Stanislavski explored a different approach to working on a production, in which the
company began by telling the story of a play s plot through its main physical actions. The next stage
was to create a more detailed version that was based on an understanding of

Throughout History Scholars Have Typically Portrayed Eve
Throughout history scholars have typically portrayed Eve as the sole creator of sin. In Genesis, Eve is
described as a weak female who ultimately felt that worldly possessions were deemed more important
than God s word. However; Eve can also be depicted as loyal, compassionate, and compliant. In
retrospect Eve is not as powerless as she is illustrated throughout literature.
When reading any type of literature about Adam and Eve, you are most likely persuaded that she was
the start of messing up mankind. Eve was known for being a weak women and having a vein
personality. Although, Eve was known for all of these ruthless things, in literature, readers are never

Like all humans, we obsess over worldly possessions and things that we have never seen before.
Eve may have had an abundant amount of freedom, yet when you do not know any better and do not
fully understand the concept of sin you are open to any ideas. This does not make Eve an antagonist.
Eve was strong enough to understand that she made a mistake that furthermore changed the outlook of
mankind. The resulting book, Adam and Eve and the serpent argues that the earliest Christian ideas
about sexuality, freedom and sin have come down to us today only by way of a fair amount of
manhandling... Literature only lets readers view one side of this. Eve did not fully understand the
concept of sin, therefore if you do not know what something means you cannot be labeled as a bad
person.
He knew her and said to her: this is now bone from my bone and flesh from my flesh. this one will be
called my wife, for she was taken from her husband . for this reason a man and a woman are to
become one, and for this reason he leaves his father and his mother. He associates with his wife, and

Formalistic Analysis of Hills Like White Elephants
In an analysis of the story Hills like white elephants by Ernest Hemmingway, one is forced to take a
deep look at the hidden meanings embedded in the story. Considering the point of view, the
significance of the location and its relevance to the story, the structure of the text, the symbolic
meaning of the two landscapes and the title of the story, the entrails of the story are exposed.
Hemmingway s story is written in an objective or dramatic point of view. The story is told primarily
through dialogue. The narrator has emotionally distanced himself from the characters, and the true
feelings and opinions of the characters are revealed in little clues as the story progresses. The narrator
acts solely as a reporter of the chain of events ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She says, Everything tastes of licorice. (Sweet)...all the things you ve waited so long for, like absinthe

meaning of the two landscape descriptions. They were in stark contrast to each other. One side was
barren and arid, the other green and fertile. The valley of the Ebro was long and white... there was no
shade and no trees... On the other side, were fields of grain and trees. These opposing landscapes
symbolize the contrasting options available to the couple. The dry side of the valley represented the
choice to abort the unborn child and continue with an empty life filled shallow experiences, (looking)
at things and (trying) new drinks. The fertile side of the valley represents the life the woman desires,
one filled with family and meaningful moments. The story then shifts to the station which was

continuity of the empty life they were used to together, or toward Barcelona, a new start, a new

Human Dominion and Separation from Nature
Other than Native American works, most of the works read for the class seemed to stem from or at
least were influenced by some vein of Christian thinking. This can t be helped because the western
world has been influenced by Christianity for centuries, and the foundational values still recognized in
this country in particular are protestant, even if they re not blatantly proclaiming the faith. In fact, we
even read through a few chapters of the Bible because the common theme and justification of human
dominion over nature stems from the primary story of the Bible in Genesis. This theme is often a
subject of great sadness or annoyance for nature writers like Wordsworth and Mary Oliver; while
authors like John Muir and Bill McKibben, whom do profess to the Christian faith, still see nature as
something spiritual because dominion means not just given authority, but also given the responsibility
for its protection. The first chapter of Genesis establishes humanity s place in God s creation. Verse 26
in particular; Then God said, Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let
them have dominion over the fish of the sea...and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.
The entire verse basically gives human authority over every genus on the planet, putting us at the top
of the food chain as it were (though in the Garden humans were forbade to eat meat). A lot of people
seem to see this verse as one of the causes of the human superiority

Tamora Pierce Analysis
Critiquing Pierce: Best Aspects of Her Work
Tamora Pierce is a fiction author for young adults who has written over twenty eight novels all of
which include her vivid depiction of magic, beautiful fictional lands and an overall message of young
women empowerment. In the first series she ever wrote, called the Song of the Lioness Quartet, the
third book completely exemplifies her overall tone and message, especially in the specific passage I
chose for Writing I Love. Throughout the passage, which is mostly dialogue, Pierce demonstrates
several key conflicts that further develop throughout her novel: that of a young female warrior in an
extremely misogynistic society, and how the protagonist wants to portray herself to the world.

they deal with the same subject matter, most short stories aren t really related, until some analysis is

In An Ounce of Cure, the main character and her mother have to use and ounce of cure to try and

wouldn t have been any of those horrible problems that arose. These two stories are also very
different. The main difference is that Sammy takes less dramatic measures to resolve his problems
than the girl in An Ounce of Cure. Sammy only quits his job. Since he is young and it is summer time,
he shouldn t have any problems finding another job. The girl in An Ounce of Cure, however, takes far
more drastic measures to solver her problems. She tries to kill herself, gets drunk, and endangers the
lives of the two young children that she supposed to be watching. Another difference is that An Ounce
of Cure has far less detail in it than in A P. An Ounce of Cure is much longer, but much more
straightforward. It gives the story and a few extra details, but not many. On the other hand, A P
Sammy gives vivid details of everything around him. He paints a very clear picture of the store, the
young ladies, the other shoppers, and his every thought. Both main characters in these stories have
very different attitudes towards everything. Sammy, in A P, is very self assured. He realizes that he
may be making a mistake halfway through quitting his job, but goes through with it anyway. By

Reflection Paper On Homelessness And Homelessness
When we were first introduced to this assignment, I was both excited and nervous. I was excited
because it gave me the opportunity to step of my comfort zone. I was also excited to be able to get out
into the community and practice some of the social work skills that we have learned in class. I was
nervous because I knew it would be hard to hear the struggles of a single parent experiencing
homelessness. As someone who was raised by a single parent, I also know how easy it can be to fall
into homelessness. Overall, I think I was more excited about doing this assignment because I truly did
want to hear the stories that single parents experiencing homelessness wanted to tell.

Social Justice
As I stated before, far too often our society ignores that homelessness is a struggle for many people.
Additionally, our society often thinks these people choose to be homeless. Terra talked about an
incident at a gas station, and how one of the employees at the gas station said all the people at across
the street are drunks and addicts. She talked about how upset she gets when people have these
misconceptions about people that are struggling with homelessness. Hearing her talk about this broke
my heart because our society should not shame people for being homeless; instead, we should be
looking at solutions to end homelessness. It is a human right to have basic human needs, yet our
society continually provokes their unjust agenda.
Our society also tends to ignore domestic violence, which is something that my mother and Terra both
faced. Terra could not get any help with service providers because her children and her were not in
immediate danger; although, Terra certainly knew they were in danger. Social justice is helping

Women And The Spartan Women
Throughout ancient human history, men and women held vastly different roles. Women were often
given the duty of bearing and raising children, whereas men were expected to fight, provide an
income, and protect the household. Women were seen as totally inferior to men and described by
Euripedes as a curse to mankind and a plague worse than fire or any viper. However, this misogynistic
view of women and designated role of inferiority was not apparent in every ancient civilization. The
role of the female in ancient Greek history can best be explored and contrasted between two important
civilizations: The Spartans and the Athenians. The Spartan women were incredibly advanced for their
time, and the Athenian women were drastically far behind. Both the Spartan and Athenian women held
roles at home and lived lives far removed from the men of their societies. However, their lives were
much different. While the Spartan women were strong and educated, the Athenian women held a
status almost equal to slavery. The Spartan women were far more advanced than Athenians in aspects
of life including education, athleticism, and independence. In no other city state did women enjoy the
same freedom and status as Spartan women. As a military driven society, the Spartans realized that
regardless of gender all Spartiates had an obligation to serve the militaristic end of Sparta. With this

Neo-Confucian Self-Cultivation And Free Speech
Neo Confucian self cultivation and free speech
Introduction
In the western civilizations, especially in the United States, people pay a lot of attention to the
freedom of speech and expression. We see americans refer to the freedom of speech in TV series,
news media, courts and many other places. Such a freedom has been strongly protected from
government restrictions by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution since 1791. And the
idea of the free speech has been interiorized into the broader liberal and individualistic western
ideology for a long time.
Nowadays, with a rising China and the oriental philosophy, the western notion of the free speech may
encounter an equivalent cousin for the first time. One of the most influential school of thought is the
Neo Confucianism, as it had been the orthodoxy from the 12th Century to the early 20th Century.
Different from the western liberal and individualistic one, the free speech in the Neo Confucian sense
involves a higher communal goal beyond expressing oneself and protect one s interests. By explaining
the eastern notion of the free speech, I hope the different idea would provide some insights for
understanding of the whole concept of freedom of speech better.
Neo Confucian self cultivation First, we need to understand some basic ideas that the Neo Confucian
thinkers hold about self cultivation and why self cultivation is important. These thinkers believe that
there is a universal moral principle (li), which

My First-Grade Year Of School
It was fall of my first grade year of school. The group of approximately fifteen of us gathered together
for Meghan Zimmerman s birthday party at Cordova lanes Bowling Alley. Each of us were
enthusiastically, waiting for our turn to bowl. No one may know if everyone s failure to follow
directions caused me to bust open my chin but it certainly was a factor. In the events that followed I
learned that if one fails to follow instructions the consequences can fall on those who do obey.
Everyone had already been there for about an hour but the excitement still beamed in their eyes. As I
sat there impatiently waiting for my turn I heard the clashing of each pin of each lane as the pins fell
to ground. CLANK, CLANK, CLANK went each of the pins. I glanced over towards my lane and
noticed everyone placing their drinks on the light tinted wooded floor causing there to be rings of
damp condensation everywhere. I thought nothing of the drinks at first but it was only five minutes
later when one of employees came over. Please tell your children to put their drinks on the tables, I
overheard her say to one of the mothers.
I heard the polite voices of one of the moms telling the group to remove the drinks from the area. I
fully anticipated everyone else to listen to the adults, but this is was certainly not the case. What had
made everything even worst was the parents themselves seemed to not care. This was such an atrocity.

Essay about Pros and Cons of the Mandatory Seatbelt Law
An enormous division currently exists between the people who believe that automobile safety should

choices, and using laws to make choices for us where as our rights should apply. From a rightful stand
point, his argument of this could be considered applicable. However, the government?s stated agenda
is to constantly protect the citizens of the state via laws, rules, and social standards. One can argue that
rights are being infringed on, but the government has factually shown that deaths have decreased in
auto accidents, and therefore they succeed in protecting the state. For example, the increase in seat belt
usage has caused a 14 percent reduction in serious and fatal accidents in the state of North Carolina
(Success Stories 1999). Apparently, the placement of seat belt restrictions has allowed the safety of
citizens to continue. Beyond the safety benefit, this has allowed the lowering of insurance premiums
and savings of health care related costs (Success Stories
1999). Dr. Walter E. Williams provided an idea that the government is denying rights, however, he
refuses to discuss the idea of saving lives and health costs. A compromise should exist between rights
and responsibility, but the current policy shows a more advantage situation.

Persuasive Essay On Renewable Energy
As the impacts of climate change continue to worsen, the time to make large scale alterations in our
way of life is now, but hesitancy is creating roadblocks for these necessary adjustments especially
within the energy industry. Al Gore, former Vice President, Congressman, and presidential candidate,
attempts to promote change in this sector by proposing a goal for 100 percent renewable energy in ten
years. Gore delivers his speech to an audience advocates and skeptics at D.A.R. Constitution Hall in
Washington, D.C. on July 17, 2008, and aims not only to persuade skeptics of the problems we are
facing, but also to show skeptics and advocates alike how we can completely rethink our electric grid
in ten years. Al Gore creates a convincing argument in 2008 for the case of switching the United
States power grid to one run by renewable energy within ten years by implementing strategic logical
appeals which include creating a sequential progression of facts and challenges, while lacing daunting
scientific evidence of the time throughout his argument.
Gore gives his speech in the nation s capital amongst supporters and critics alike at a time when great
change was occurring, which helps his audience to understand the logic in acting as soon as possible.
Gore makes a point to reference that the nation was at the eve of a presidential election, in order to
portray to the audience that change was coming, and that a new leader may have more to bring to the
issue of climate change

Analysis Of Raising The Flag On Iwo Jima
First, there is hidding meaning in terms of iconographical layer in both of the two pictures. Raising the
Flag on Iwo Jima is a picture released on 1945, by Joe Rosenthal. It is portraying about five a United
States Navy and United States Marines corpsman raising an U.S. flag at the top of Suribachi Mount,
after the Battle on Iwo Jima island during World War II. The photograph was very famous and
popular, to the extent that it had being reprinted thousand times in that period of time. The five
soldiers in the picture is representing the American navy who engaged in the war against Japan taking
place in the Iwo Jima an island in Pacific Ocean which is referring to the bundle of land the soldiers
are standing on. The scene about five soldiers climbing a hill raising the American Flag, amidst rubble
is here the signifier, which implied the secondary level of meaning. For the meaning being signified is
the strength and power of these soldiers to climb to the top and represent pride for their country (by
raising the flag over Iwo Jima, it can reflect American s victory and s of the war). And more
importantly, there are also a myth conveyed implicitly by this picture. The myth in this picture seems
to be in this way: America is a powerful leading international nation that can defeat all the enemies
who try to turn againt her.

The Five States of Chronic Kidney Disease
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a long term condition characterized by presence of kidney damage
or a decrease of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) less than 60ml/min/1.73m2 for 3 months or longer
periods (Levey, Bosch, Lewis, 1999). Kidney disease always being neglected as it was asymptomatic
in the early stage. Chronic kidney disease was divided into 5 stages and according to its severity. The
staging system is based on the estimated GFR and remaining kidney function. In each stages of
chronic kidney disease, there is certain medical action and investigation need to be carry out to
monitor the progression of disease. Medical practitioners can use this as basis guidelines to monitor
the deterioration of kidney disease. Patient will increase severity of uremic and suffer from clinical
manifestations of azotemia when GFR drop to less than 25% of normal (Schrier, 2010). When GFR
drop to less than 15ml Stage 5 CKD patient need to be undergo renal replacement therapy, either
dialysis or renal transplant in order to avoid complication such as uremic and fluid overload.
Whenever there is an injury occurs to the kidney, reduction of nephron number will be result from
compensatory of glomerular haemodynamic changes. The remaining nephron will be undergoing a
process call hypertrophy, with the increase in glomerular blood flow. Intraglomerular pressure and

Louise Mallard Analysis
Louise Mallard is a despondent woman, she is the protagonist of The Story of An Hour. She is
depicted as an enduring woman who aches from the pain of Heart Disease, however this is the least of
her life shortened worries; she suffers from a sorrowful marriage, which threatens her own life as
portrayed by the author. An interaction of Mrs. Mallard and her sister Josephine who unknowingly
thinks Mrs. Mallard is locking herself in the room, making herself ill despite her enjoying the moment
of freedom. Most of the thoughts run by the actor were during that scene. The story is centered on how
the character of Mrs. Mallard changed from the juncture of her husband s death at the moment her
husband walks through the door at the end of the story. Mrs. Mallard is depicted as a frail woman,
when we see her bodily conditions such as her as powerless as her two white slender hands would
have been (251, paragraph 10) evidently portrays that she had frail hands, which show her weakness
on top of her medical conditions, her weakness eventually led to her death. Her relationship with her
husband s depicts how weak woman s relationship of this society was. She s a great example of many
of nowadays marriages which are usually despairing She did not stop to ask if it were a monstrous joy
that held her (251, paragraph 12). Her husband is shown as foist, he is no different from men in this
society, this usually means the women are weak with no choice other than to obey their husbands And

The Issue Of Illegal Immigration Essay
Securing Our Borders
Illegal immigration is an issue that plagues the border states and it must be controlled.
What should be done with illegal immigrants has been a hotly contested issue in the news and also
during the current election process. In Obama s Numbers April 2016 Update , Brooks Jackson states
that in 2014, 11.3 million illegal immigrants came into the US. The Democrats and Republicans
debate on whether amnesty or mass deportation is the better alternative on what to do with these
illegal immigrants. I personally believe that mass deportation is a more effective means of dealing
with illegal immigration due to it being more cost effective than amnesty, removing potential
criminals with ties to the cartels, and is unfair to people that have or wish to come into our country
legally. The costs of amnesty is far too high to be a real solution to the illegal immigration issue. The
Immigration Bill s $6.3 Trillion Price Tag , Robert Farley states that the cost of amnesty ranges from
$6.3 to $5.3 trillion over the next 50 years. That s about $126 billion to $106 billion per year. In
Trumps Deportation Plan Prohibitively Expensive , Dolla Estevez states that Trump s deportation plan
would require the federal government to spend roughly $400 billion to $600 billion to deport 11.3
million undocumented immigrants and prevent future unlawful entry into the U.S. over a 20 year time
period, (Estevez). This is a much easier pill to swallow, as it will only cost $30

The Girls Are Considered Outcasts
Three hundred girls are considered outcasts every year. They re shipped off into an unknown area to
most people. The girls are only eleven and they re taken away from their families. Their families are
the ones that want them gone. I boarded the cruise ship and I walked in the suite. There were a huge
group of boys walking around. The cruise ship is very warm and it s very cozy. The boarding event
takes about three hours. The girls have to line up and they have to get a baggage check. I can t wait to
go on this journey. I just feel unloved by my parents. The boys are there to help the girls.
They re outcasts too, but they re much older than the girls. They re either sixteen or seventeen. There s
a front desk and the workers used their computers. The workers are boys and they make sure the girls
are ok. It s been two hours since the boarding event started. I reached my room and it was a luxury
suite. I shared the room with another girl. Her name is Bailey Holland. Her dad is rich and I heard she
is very smart. Bailey greeted me and I smiled.
Hi, Bailey. I said. Hi, Sarina. Bailey said. You know my name? I said. Of course, the workers told me
you would be my roommate. They showed me your picture. You are so pretty. Bailey said. Thank you.
I said. I heard there s a very big restaurant that sells barbecue and steaks. Bailey said. I love barbecue.
I said. There are more restaurants. Bailey said. Let s check them out. I said. We have to go to the

Pe Should Be Taught In Schools Essay
Obesity is a worldwide problem everywhere, However; we also have P.E. classes in the United States,
and yet, obesity rates are still going up. If our P.E. classes are helping obesity at all, it s barely any. It
would be a better use of time if we turned gyms into classrooms, and used all the money going into
P.E. equipment into more/better school supplies or give our teachers better pay. Everyone knows on
the inside that things like math and science are more important than running around 45 minutes every
other day. So we need to decide what should really be a part of a school day. Not running around a
track. When we all get older we aren t going to keep or want to keep these healthy habits because the
majority of kids don t necessarily enjoy P.E. There are actually kids out there who care about learning
and couldn t care less about sports. These people are not kids who just ... Show more content on

classes, and get kids ready for their future lives. If we choose to work out, that s just our choice, and
not for the school district to decide. Our Everyday Life states, Mandatory PE classes can be
disadvantageous for students who have strict academic requirements. Some students need class time to
focus on advanced coursework that might help them get into competitive colleges. If someone does
like sports and wants to have a career in that category, they can take P.E. by choice but why should
other kids be forced to do so if they are never going to apply that to their lives? Ohio news publication
West Life reports that, some school board members think PE requirements should be waived for
students with heavy academic loads and time consuming classes, such as choir and band. Especially in
high schools where exams are getting closer, kids should focus on getting grades that will actually
mean something in their lives and future. It should just be optional like art, orchestra... etc. Why is
P.E. any more important than those

The ABAS II is a comprehensive measure that assesses an individual s behavior scale. It was
developed by Patti Harrison and Thomas Oakland based on information gathered in a matter of eight
years. The standardization has samples for the Parent/Primary Caregiver and Teacher/Daycare

In the book Never Cry Wolf by Farley Mowat, Mowat goes to study wolves in the middle of barren Canada. In Canada he meets an Eskimo named Mike and he stays in his cabin while he finds a wolf den to study. He studies how pups grow up and how the wolves hunt, also their diet. He finds out how the caribou are disappearing, and estimates how many are killed in a certain amount of time. Along with many other things Mowat uses Logos with Personification and Characterization to explain how the wolves are not savage killers. Mowat uses Personification to prove wolves are not savage killers. In the book Never Cry Wolf when Mowat is alone studying the wolves he begins to give them names and personalities. I can only attribute to the fact that George s sense of humor, which was well developed, led him to accept the affair as a crude practical joke (110). Mowat had set some mouse traps to catch mice to study and dissect, but the wolf he called George walked through them and ran home. George understood it as a joke. • 4. Abortion And The Logistics Of Sandra Day O Connor s Case Abortion was declared a fundamental right in 1973, which divided American society into two groups (in simplest form), pro life and pro choice. Pro life groups, pertaining of mostly religious persons, believe that life is precious, beginning at the time of conception. Pro life groups declared that abortion is to be considered murder and is unethical. However, those who oppose that belief, pro choice, say that it is a decision for the woman to take. After various cases and argumentation, the Supreme Court declared that it is more beneficial for abortion to become a legal act, rather than having women unsafely abort their fetus, causing great health risks. Sandra Day O Connor, wrote in the 1992 decision in Planned Parenthood v. Casey the following, the ability of women to participate equally in the economic and social life of the Nation has been facilitated by their ability to control their reproductive lives. This social justice allows women to experience a citizenship stature and the ability to practice their legal right. This may be true, however, this begs the question is the baby a part of the woman s body or is it its own entity? The placenta and the umbilical cord are the organs by which a fetus or a baby is connected to his/her mother. This however, is more for separation from the fetus and the mother. Biologically, a fetus has its own circulatory system and their blood must not intermingle. Nonetheless, a fetus needs nutritional resources, which are obtained through the umbilical cord. This is to show that a fetus is not a tumor, growing within a cavity of a woman and does not have barriers, rather, the two (the mother and the fetus) biologically take extreme measures to set barriers for the safety of both the fetus and the mother. This is to conclude the possibility of the woman s body and a fetus being two distinct organisms. Amongst all these things, it is crucial to still maintain the perspective of women s rights and their right to choose. • 6. Alexander Pope and Women Essay example Alexander Pope may have been the adversary of female behavior the extent of this has long been in question. The writer s satirical style towards the women of his era is evidence of his opinions. However, there are noticeable facts that generate a swaying effect on Pope s views and the meaning of The Rape of the Lock. These details consist of the author s personal life and symbolism contained in his mock epic poem, including the voices of Bella and Clarissa, which is an indication that he may not have had the hardened heart towards women that everyone assumed he had. While any evaluation on Alexander Pope s personal opinion will conclude with a questioning of who he truly was behind his literary persona, a thorough research provides solid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beauty was of utmost importance and to climb any social ladder, a pleasing outward appearance was to be achieved. The Rape of the Lock does an excellent job of portraying this thoughtlessness that the women had during the Eighteenth Century. In the mock poem a woman who has her hair cut off and stolen appears to be an action that expresses hilarious sarcastic wit. However this storyline was not just humorous but has a sad underlying tone owing to the fact that a woman in the Eighteenth Century would have taken these circumstances to a serious degree. Alexander Pope expressed his opinion of women in a frank and aggressive manner. As Elizabeth King put it in her notes about The Rape of the Lock, it styled woman a goddess and regarded her as little better than a doll (77), this clarifies Pope s respect of women during his time. The prime example of Pope s opinion is written through his character Belinda, in The Rape of the Lock. In the poem, Belinda is the epitome of loveliness and femininity. The qualities she possesses are not of intellect or wholesome attitude, but the beauty she was born with overpowers any need for intelligence. Due to this, a Sylph named Ariel who was once a woman of similar beauty and class as Belinda protects her, along with the nymphs who were once too, of pleasing disposition in their human life. • 10. Art Of Scapegoating Essay The concept of scapegoating has been around almost as long as human beings. We have proof from as far back as the time of the ancient Israelites that human societies would use ritualistic sacrifice of goats to absolve the people of their sins and bring that society together. And although the ritual of scapegoating uses an actual goat for sacrifice, the act of scapegoating can utilize any third party as a sacrifice to absorb the guilt of others. A similar concept to scapegoating is the idea of the Suffering Servant as first described in the Book of Isaiah. The Suffering Servant willingly atones for the sins of others and suffers the punishment in their stead. The original Suffering Servant was the people of Israel who were living in exile ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps the most comprehensive essay on the origins and effects of scapegoating was written by René Girard. Girard described a cycle of rivalry between two parties where one person s achievement or desire of something creates envy and competition between others who become jealous and also begin to desire these things. This rivalry creates ever growing tension and conflict between these people whose desires only increase over time. The increasing animosity inevitably leads to an outbreak of violence and chaos, where the only way of stopping the hostility is through the sacrifice of a (semi) innocent third party who takes all of the blame, the scapegoat. The third party is an unwilling victim, and they must be believed to be completely guilty for the scapegoat effect to take place: A scapegoat effect that can be acknowledged as such by the scapegoaters is no longer effective, it is no longer a scapegoat effect (Girard, 1996, p. 14). After the scapegoat, has been sacrificed the warring people are reunited and peace returns. This peace is only fleeting, however, as mimetic cycle of rivalry will soon begin again and lead to conflict once more. This is why ritualistic scapegoating sacrifices must be repeated the scapegoat effect is never ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ramsey takes us from the beginning of the relationship, when the stick is bare, to the end when it is carved end to end. We learn of the outside events that build their love, as well as internal measure, upon which their love is built. According to Ramsey the stick is a part of the couple s relationship. The author ends the poem with the couple looking back on everything they have done. Running their fingers from beginning to end they will explore everything that shaped their relationship and forgive each other s regrets. Ramsey refers to their blameless eyes, telling us that the two no longer blame one another and can go on loving through old age. Starting from when they were children, they follow the grain all the way to adulthood and talk softly as of ordinary matters and in one another s blameless eyes go blind (27). The Tally Stick is symbolic of everything this couple shares with each other. It not only shows special occasions like a picture but tells a detailed story of their life together. The couple relives the significant times they spent together by running their thumbs through the intricate notches. Detailed depictions of their wedding, the births of their children, the tragedies they have gone through can all be found within the stick. Introduction Privacy from governments has been under assault increasing amounts in the last 100 years. Technology has revolutionized the concept, as before we had microphones, telephones, wiretaps, video cameras, someone would actually need to trespass to violate your privacy. But with computer technology, the bar code on the condoms could be tied to the credit card number and to the school records, informing the school that a teacher made an unacceptable purchase[2], potentially costing the teacher his or her job. Current technology makes such a scenario feasible. However, such a compilation of publicly available information seems like quite an intrusion of privacy. Yet, this ability to track someone?s actions could be used to catch potential criminals and terrorists. A terrorist could research how to make a bomb online, take flight lessons, and communicate with other terrorists over email. If this activity were properly monitored, the terrorist could be caught before any harm was done. Current practices of monitoring based on the Patriot Act have been given credit for catching more terrorists than ever before[3]. At what level are we willing to give up our personal privacy for security? The United States has long had a practice of respecting privacy and considering it an individual right. The days when mothers and fathers raised the children together are sharing equal stature with single parent, mixed families with step parents and siblings by marriage, and same sex families. Some families are carefully planned with love and are ideal. Some of these families units have heartbreak in their origins. Family tragedies such as parental death and separation have torn families apart. Divorce rates are higher than ever and more families are faced with choosing, even fighting over, with which parent will the children live with. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In most cases, nature has designated mothers as the caretaker for the raising of offspring. Few argue the fact that mothers have been the individuals to love and nurture children. From the beginning recorded history, a mother s first duty was to her husband and then to children, based on traditional and religious role definitions. But as the traditional families continued to change and evolve, fathers have been forced to accept the multiple roles required to raise the children alone. Dads have become moms in a sense. As modern fathers have become adequate mothers in the single parent family unit, the notion that a mother is the only nurturing individual in the family is simply not true now. The qualities of love, patience, and compassion are not gender bound ( Single Dads 2001). Society has long been transforming men from the cavemen lumbering to skilled hunter gatherers to loving husbands and to caring parents. As single mothers have had to take on traditional paternal responsibilities as financial providers and disciplinarians, so to have fathers accepted the traditional maternal roles in the home, and as caregiver. Cooking and cleaning are shared responsibilities in the family now. Consequently, men have taken the responsibility to change diapers, wipe runny noses, bathe and comfort their hurting children in two parent households. Research shows that children benefit greatly when a father is more involved in the nurturing of his children. So ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Reflection Of I Am Malala One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world. This inspirational saying by Malala Yousafzai helped my understanding of what has been happening in Pakistan and many other countries all over the world. It shows us how important the littlest things can be and how by ourselves, we can make an impact on the world. In the book, I am Malala, by Malala Yousafzai, Malala explained how as a child, she was denied education because of the Taliban (a group of terrorists) and she chose to do something about it: she spoke out against them. When they tried to retaliate, even more people joined her cause for justice. In a similar case, Arnold (Junior), in the book The absolute Diary of a Part TIme Indian, was a boy living on a North American Indian reservation (rez) where unlike Malala, he was able to go to school, but his schools were very bad. Mr. P, his teacher, told him that if he does not leave the res, that he will not get any further in life. He decided to transfer to Reardan, a school outside of the reservation, where he knows that it will not be easy. He faces discrimination and he is exposed to more and more of the terrible things that happen in the world. And even though we learn from him that living on an Indian reservation is not a walk in the park, and that even living there does not compare to going to school at Reardan. Unfortunately for these two characters, they have both faced hardships that have deeply affected their lives. These stories show that when someone is in an environment that makes them lose their innocence, sometimes they also lose faith in humanity; when that has happened to someone, they might want to stand up for the other people with similar struggles. Innocence is something that people are born with but it can be lost due to tragic circumstances. Because of the Taliban, Malala Yousafzai lost her innocence when the Taliban threatened her home. Each day after school my brothers and I would race home and lock the doors. No more playing cricket in the alley. No more playing hide and seek in the street. No more candy from the sky. (Malala, 57). Malala learned to be afraid of the Taliban. This was something that Malala had to live with. The Taliban threatened her father and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Genesis, Eve is described as a weak female who ultimately felt that worldly possessions were deemed more important than God s word. However; Eve can also be depicted as loyal, compassionate, and compliant. In retrospect Eve is not as powerless as she is illustrated throughout literature. When reading any type of literature about Adam and Eve, you are most likely persuaded that she was the start of messing up mankind. Eve was known for being a weak women and having a vein personality. Human Dominion and Separation from Nature Other than Native American works, most of the works read for the class seemed to stem from or at least were influenced by some vein of Christian thinking. This can t be helped because the western world has been influenced by Christianity for centuries, and the foundational values still recognized in this country in particular are protestant, even if they re not blatantly proclaiming the faith. In fact, we even read through a few chapters of the Bible because the common theme and justification of human dominion over nature stems from the primary story of the Bible in Genesis. This theme is often a subject of great sadness or annoyance for nature writers like Wordsworth and Mary Oliver; while authors like John Muir and Bill McKibben, whom do profess to the Christian faith, still see nature as something spiritual because dominion means not just given authority, but also given the responsibility for its protection. The first chapter of Genesis establishes humanity s place in God s creation. Verse 26 in particular; Then God said, Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea...and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth. Women were often given the duty of bearing and raising children, whereas men were expected to fight, provide an income, and protect the household. Women were seen as totally inferior to men and described by Euripedes as a curse to mankind and a plague worse than fire or any viper. However, this misogynistic view of women and designated role of inferiority was not apparent in every ancient civilization. The role of the female in ancient Greek history can best be explored and contrasted between two important civilizations: The Spartans and the Athenians. The Spartan women were incredibly advanced for their time, and the Athenian women were drastically far behind. Both the Spartan and Athenian women held roles at home and lived lives far removed from the men of their societies. However, their lives were much different. Such a freedom has been strongly protected from government restrictions by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution since 1791. And the idea of the free speech has been interiorized into the broader liberal and individualistic western ideology for a long time. Nowadays, with a rising China and the oriental philosophy, the western notion of the free speech may encounter an equivalent cousin for the first time. One of the most influential school of thought is the Neo Confucianism, as it had been the orthodoxy from the 12th Century to the early 20th Century. Different from the western liberal and individualistic one, the free speech in the Neo Confucian sense involves a higher communal goal beyond expressing oneself and protect one s interests. Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima is a picture released on 1945, by Joe Rosenthal. It is portraying about five a United States Navy and United States Marines corpsman raising an U.S. flag at the top of Suribachi Mount, after the Battle on Iwo Jima island during World War II. The photograph was very famous and popular, to the extent that it had being reprinted thousand times in that period of time. The five soldiers in the picture is representing the American navy who engaged in the war against Japan taking place in the Iwo Jima an island in Pacific Ocean which is referring to the bundle of land the soldiers are standing on. The scene about five soldiers climbing a hill raising the American Flag, amidst rubble is here the signifier, which implied the secondary level of meaning. For the meaning being signified is the strength and power of these soldiers to climb to the top and represent pride for their country (by raising the flag over Iwo Jima, it can reflect American s victory and s of the war). And more importantly, there are also a myth conveyed implicitly by this picture. The myth in this picture seems to be in this way: America is a powerful leading international nation that can defeat all the enemies who try to turn againt her. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Five States of Chronic Kidney Disease Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a long term condition characterized by presence of kidney damage or a decrease of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) less than 60ml/min/1.73m2 for 3 months or longer periods (Levey, Bosch, Lewis, 1999). Kidney disease always being neglected as it was asymptomatic in the early stage. Chronic kidney disease was divided into 5 stages and according to its severity. The staging system is based on the estimated GFR and remaining kidney function. In each stages of chronic kidney disease, there is certain medical action and investigation need to be carry out to monitor the progression of disease. Medical practitioners can use this as basis guidelines to monitor the deterioration of kidney disease. Patient will increase severity of uremic and suffer from clinical manifestations of azotemia when GFR drop to less than 25% of normal (Schrier, 2010). When GFR drop to less than 15ml Stage 5 CKD patient need to be undergo renal replacement therapy, either dialysis or renal transplant in order to avoid complication such as uremic and fluid overload. Whenever there is an injury occurs to the kidney, reduction of nephron number will be result from compensatory of glomerular haemodynamic changes. The remaining nephron will be undergoing a process call hypertrophy, with the increase in glomerular blood flow. Intraglomerular pressure and amount of filtrate formed by each single nephron rise. • 41. The Issue Of Illegal Immigration Essay Securing Our Borders Illegal immigration is an issue that plagues the border states and it must be controlled. What should be done with illegal immigrants has been a hotly contested issue in the news and also during the current election process. In Obama s Numbers April 2016 Update , Brooks Jackson states that in 2014, 11.3 million illegal immigrants came into the US. The Democrats and Republicans debate on whether amnesty or mass deportation is the better alternative on what to do with these illegal immigrants. I personally believe that mass deportation is a more effective means of dealing with illegal immigration due to it being more cost effective than amnesty, removing potential criminals with ties to the cartels, and is unfair to people that have or wish to come into our country legally. The costs of amnesty is far too high to be a real solution to the illegal immigration issue. The Immigration Bill s $6.3 Trillion Price Tag , Robert Farley states that the cost of amnesty ranges from $6.3 to $5.3 trillion over the next 50 years. That s about $126 billion to $106 billion per year. In Trumps Deportation Plan Prohibitively Expensive , Dolla Estevez states that Trump s deportation plan would require the federal government to spend roughly $400 billion to $600 billion to deport 11.3 million undocumented immigrants and prevent future unlawful entry into the U.S. over a 20 year time period, (Estevez). This is a much easier pill to swallow, as it will only cost $30 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There were a huge group of boys walking around. The cruise ship is very warm and it s very cozy. The boarding event takes about three hours. The girls have to line up and they have to get a baggage check. I can t wait to go on this journey. I just feel unloved by my parents. The boys are there to help the girls. They re outcasts too, but they re much older than the girls. They re either sixteen or seventeen. There s a front desk and the workers used their computers. The workers are boys and they make sure the girls are ok. It s been two hours since the boarding event started. I reached my room and it was a luxury suite. I shared the room with another girl. Her name is Bailey Holland. Her dad is rich and I heard she is very smart. Bailey greeted me and I smiled. Hi, Bailey. I said. Hi, Sarina. Bailey said. You know my name? I said. Of course, the workers told me you would be my roommate. They showed me your picture. You are so pretty. Bailey said. Thank you. I said. • 43. Pe Should Be Taught In Schools Essay Obesity is a worldwide problem everywhere, However; we also have P.E. classes in the United States, and yet, obesity rates are still going up. If our P.E. classes are helping obesity at all, it s barely any. It would be a better use of time if we turned gyms into classrooms, and used all the money going into P.E. equipment into more/better school supplies or give our teachers better pay. Everyone knows on the inside that things like math and science are more important than running around 45 minutes every other day. So we need to decide what should really be a part of a school day. Not running around a track. When we all get older we aren t going to keep or want to keep these healthy habits because the majority of kids don t necessarily enjoy P.E. There are actually kids out there who care about learning and couldn t care less about sports. These people are not kids who just ... Our Everyday Life states, Mandatory PE classes can be disadvantageous for students who have strict academic requirements. Some students need class time to focus on advanced coursework that might help them get into competitive colleges. If someone does like sports and wants to have a career in that category, they can take P.E. by choice but why should other kids be forced to do so if they are never going to apply that to their lives? Ohio news publication West Life reports that, some school board members think PE requirements should be waived for students with heavy academic loads and time consuming classes, such as choir and band. Especially in high schools where exams are getting closer, kids should focus on getting grades that will actually mean something in their lives and future. It should just be optional like art, orchestra... etc. Why is P.E. any more important than those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The standardization samples for the Parent and Teacher Forms, and Adult Form is comprised of 5,270 individuals that represent the U.S. population. (Harrison Oakland, 2008) ABAS II was designed to assess how a person responds to daily demands, and to determine eligibility for services. The ABAS II has new features in its test that encompass infant pre school rating forms, and it has an expanded structure that focuses on the current American Association of Mental Retardation (AAMR). (Sattler, 2002) The test consists of different forms that can be filled out. The parent form, which consists of 232 question items. A teacher form, which consists of 193 question items, and an adult form consisting of 236 questions. The questions are answered based on a 4 point Likert type rating scale. You will score 0 for items that are not able , 1 on items that are never , 2 on items that reflect sometimes , and 3 on items that reflect always .
