Evidence Informed Practice On Facilitating Learning
Evidence informed practice in facilitating learning
Introduction
This paper will seek to explore the literature surrounding the diverse debate and narratives which have
defined the body of academic research surrounding facilitating learning and the centrality of evidence
informed practice. There has been a diverse shift in focus between the domains of research and
practice. Therefore, this paper will endeavour to ascertain key developments in order to nurture a
strong awareness of the available research. The intellectual genesis of this analysis surrounds the work
of a British academic, Professor David Hargreaves, who elucidated a new concept of educational
research. Hargreaves believed, ?teaching is not at present a research based profession? (Hargreaves,
1996). The intellectual foundations of research principles in the delivery of education are an important
dynamic. This paper, therefore, will outline the academic journey of this progression.
Literature Review ? Evidence Informed Practice in Facilitating Learning
The purpose of the literature evaluation is to explore the wider academic landscape surrounding the
research question in order to develop an understanding of the evolution of current themes and
narratives in the education sector involving facilitating learning outcomes and the evidence based
process behind this objective.
Learning: The Basics
In order to fully understand our research, we need to understand the basics. What is learning? This is

The Implementation Of The First National Noise Abatement...
Summary
Noise is defined as unwanted sound, which can affect the human body in a number of ways. There is
evidence of high blood pressure, irritability, and lack of sleep that cause additional problems (Goines,
Hagler, 2007). In 1968, the culmination of public outcry over airport noise was enough to bring
change to national policy. The jet era was in full swing and residents whom were content with a soft
buzzing in the distance were now overwhelmed with noise that rattled windows and interrupted sleep.
As the community made complaints to their local representatives, laws were passed to try to ease the
amount of noise by jet engines. Without a federal standard, most local laws were thrown out; however,
judges ruled that airports were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although, courts did allow airfield owners to restrict types of aircraft able to land. This was a way to
limit bigger aircraft, with larger engines from landing. Yet, there still was no federal guideline or law
concerning aircraft noise.
Course of Action
Eventually in 1968, Congress delegated responsibility for aircraft noise to the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA), to regulate and prescribe standards for measuring aircraft noise and sonic
boom. This became known as the Aircraft Noise and Abatement Act (ANAA) of 1968 (ANAA, 1968).
This included aircraft weight, number of engines, and type of engines used, which categorized them
into three classes based on the level of noise produced. Stage I, was not tested or exceeded mandated
noise levels. Stage II, met noise standards for their weight and number of engines, and Stage III that
produced a lower level of noise than what was required (ANAA, 1968). An amendment to this Act,
continued to allow airport proprietors to deny the use of their airports to aircraft on the basis of noise
considerations so long as such exclusion is non discriminatory (Goldstein, 1975).
Once the ANAA was created, the FAA could no longer ignore complaints about aircraft noise and had
to work toward goals to reduce the impact of noise on citizens. Additionally, many amendments and
revisions have been implemented in the years following the ANAA. Some of these include a
requirement in 1972, to consult with the

Born in New York City, Artie Shaw would become one of the top bandleaders in the swing era. He
began his musical career as a highly sought after alto saxophone player in the New York area, and was
able to benefit from the growth of radio and studio recordings. As he perfected his technical ability
with various dance bands, he was still relatively unknown in the early 30 s when he began to focus
exclusively on the Clarinet while Swing music began to grow in popularity.
While we may carefully analyze the two pieces to satisfy our curiosity regarding musical evolution in
Jazz, we should also not lose sight of the fact that these are two very enjoyable styles of music. From

Later that year, Jobim was invited along with other Brazilian artists to perform in the US as Bossa
Nova grew into a very popular musical fad. Several other Jazz groups adjusted their styles, releasing
many Bossa Nova songs until the trend fell from popularity in the late 1960 s. Jobim continued to
perform with small groups around the world to appreciative audiences until shortly before his death,
securing his reputation as one of the great songwriters of Jazz music in the 20th century.
Begin the Beguine was recorded in July 1938 by a swing orchestra led by Artie Shaw on the clarinet
as the lead soloist. His big band was composed of 3 trumpet players, 3 trombones, 2 alto saxophones,
2 tenor sax players, and a rhythm section including piano, guitar, bass, and drums. As the song begins
with the clarinet solo and muted trumpets, the swing feel becomes clear to the listener. The rhythm
section keeps a steady beat of 4 beats per measure throughout, and the solos are carefully defined and
organized with the drums or the trumpets occasionally helping to bridge gaps between various
sections of the song until the Clarinet finally leads the band to a conclusion.
Desafinado was recorded in February 1962 by a small jazz group of six skilled musicians. The front
men for this recording was Stan Getz on Tenor Sax and Charlie Byrd on the guitar. A rhythm guitar,
bass, drums, and percussionist formed the rhythm section for this famous Bossa Nova tune. As the

Analysis Of Aaron Burr And Alexander Hamilton
The Oval Office symbolizes the government whenever public judgement casts the governmental
system in negative or positive light. Arguably, every presidential administration becomes marked by
the supposed corruption that lies within it, for the office is considered the Room Where It Happens
(Miranda and McCarter 186). In homage to the times of exclusion and inclusion of Aaron Burr and
Alexander Hamilton in this room during the founding father s era of government, Hamilton: The
Revolution, by Lin Manuel Miranda and Jeremy McCarter, states that [one] feel[s] like [one has] been
Burr [..] as many times as [one has] been Hamilton (264). Nevertheless, as Miranda identifies to a
greater degree with Hamilton because of his rags to riches record, my ideologies gravitate towards
Burr from experiences in a culture where failure is condemned. Moreover, the eventual vilification of
Burr for his role in Hamilton s demise versus Hamilton s martyrdom for his reckless abandon leads me
to identify more with Burr as a victim of fallacious antagonization than Hamilton as an erroneous
martyr based on a single precept: one s reputation stems from a series of public judgements void of
consideration on individual detriment. Dominance acts as a form of dopamine to man s brain: it gives
man satisfaction from superiority and control over supposedly inferior beings. While Hamilton, the
immigrant with a lack of wealth and family, climbs up the echelons of the societal ladder, Burr is

Touching Spirit Bear Change
Cole Matthews Journey of Change
What is a crime? An action or omission that constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state
and is punishable by law. Cole Matthews is classified as a criminal. We see him commit numerous
crimes throughout Touching Spirit Bear, such as, breaking into a hardware store, trashing that same
hardware store, assaulting Peter Driscal, etc. Our intuition of Cole Matthews at the beginning of the
book is not very pleasant but, as we read on, we see how Cole Matthews does change into a more
responsible and calm individual. Cole Matthews is obviously responsible for this change but, there
were many other people that had a vast influence on him. By examining Garvey s guidance, Edwin s
wisdom and Mrs. Matthews ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Cole had first reached island, Edwin had given advice to Cole about how to live on the island,
Nobody s going to babysit you here. If you eat you ll live. If not, you ll die. This land can provide for
you or kill you. Winters are long. Cut plenty of wood or you ll freeze. Keep things dry, because wet
kills. This island is covered with Devil s Club. Don t grab it or hundreds of tiny thistles will infect
your hands and make them swell up like sausages. The stream over there is where you get fresh water,
(17). By giving this advice, it is clear that Edwin wants Cole to be safe on the island. Edwin had even
built a shelter for Cole on the island. Edwin had left Drake, his homeland, and came to Minneapolis
just to attend Cole s Circle Justice meetings, which shows his determination to help Cole. At a Circle
Justice meeting, after Cole had attempted to kill the Spirit bear, Edwin had proved how Cole had
changed through an effective demonstration that changed everyone s perspective on Cole and his
identity, People change two ways with slow persistence pressure, or with a single and sudden
traumatic experience. That s why people often change so much when they have a near death
experience. I believe something significant happened to Cole on the island, (128). By manifesting this
demonstration, it was clear that Edwin believed in Cole and he believed Cole had really changed.
Later, when Cole had been sent back to the island as a second chance, Edwin had provided Cole with
many techniques in which he would relieve his anger, such, dipping into the pond in the morning and
carrying the ancestor rock, Happiness, like anger, is also a habit. You learn to be happy one day at a
time. But habits change hard. This pond will help you, (146). Edwin had also explained to Cole how
he couldn t get rid of anger, which made Cole stop doubting himself, People send lifetimes breaking

Descriptive Essay On Cafe
The Lokal
In my ceaseless visits to new cafes that seem to be sprouting every other day in this tiny island, it is
only natural that I won t like some. But it is also natural to have a favourite one that shines.
That s The Lokal.
This newly opened Aussie inspired café along Neil Road is not your normal stop by dining spot. I was
welcomed by the casual retro interior and comforting natural light shining in from the French
windows, one step into it and I had my heart on sleeve already. The open concept kitchen where one
could see the chefs in action gave off the feeling of authenticity, a good break away from the countless
typical and pretentious cafes that have sprouted in recent years. My first impression of the place
heralded high expectations and true enough, The Lokal was more than extraordinary.

I ordered the Roast Beef Ciabatta and it arrived within 10 minutes, the warmth of the bread instantly

710 Freeway Extension Project Essay
In May of 2015, the California Department of Transportation and the Metropolitan Transportation
Authority held a public hearing to gather feedback from the community about potential environmental
concerns related to the 710 Freeway extension project. In a report released by Caltrans earlier that
year, five potential alternatives were mentioned in relation to the closure of the 4.5 mile gap in the
freeway (between Alhambra and Pasadena). These alternatives included bus and rail lines and a dual
bore tunnel. After the release of the report and the discussion of potential environmental concerns and
alternative solutions/uses for the gap, a coalition of cities (Glendale, Pasadena, South Pasadena, and
Sierra Madre) examined environmental, safety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some are now supporting suggestions to build a new neighborhood instead of completing the 710
Freeway. It seems the debate is neverending. The idea to skip use the gap to build a new neighborhood
came from a Pasadena based architectural firm, Stefanos Polyzoides with Moule Polyzoides.
Polyzoides suggests that Caltrans sell the land near the northern end of where the 710 Freeway is
supposed to be to the city of Pasadena. The city could then redevelop the land into housing,
businesses, etc. His mention of incorporating a tree boulevard only makes the plan sound better. The
Pasadena architect presented his plan at a West Pasadena Residents Association meeting. It included a
mixture of single family housing on the southern end of the 50 acre segement in Pasadena with more
dense housing closer to the 210 Freeway. Of course, businesses would be incorporated throughout the
neighborhood, as well. The design is being compared to Old Town Pasadena. Pasadena mayor, Terry
Tornek, is planning to put a repeal of Measure A on the November ballot. (Measure A is the voter
approved 2001 measure supporting the completion of the 710 Freeway). By doing so, he feels that the
freeway extension project would be essentially taken out of the game and Caltrans might then decide
to sell the land and make the Pasadena architect s vision of a new neighborhood in the freeway gap a

Studies about FPM in the foster care system indicates that engagement is an important component to
achieving permanency for foster children (Boldis, Tomlinson, 2014; Crampton, Usher, Wildfire,
Webster, Cuccaro Alamin, 2011). It has been demonstrated that FPM increases biological family
members participation in permanency planning (Crampton, Usher, Wildfire, Webster, Cuccaro Alamin,
2011; Gladstone et al., 2012; Montserrat, L?pez, Bravo, del Valle, 2013). Permanency is more likely to
be long term when biological families are active members of the FPM (Balsells, Pastor, Mateos,
Vaquero, Urrea, 2015; Boldis, Tomlinson, 2014; Crampton, Usher, Wildfire, Webster, Cuccaro
Alamin, 2011; Steen, Duran, 2013). However, there is a gap in research on FPM and permanency
planning through the team approach of decision making that is inclusive of foster parents. The school
approved topic is How do foster parents describe the experiences and engagement in family
partnership meetings and permanency planning? This study looks to expand on the concept of foster
parents as professional members of a multidisciplinary team through their engagement in FPM and

Political Implications On Aboriginal Family Life And...
Introduction
My research paper will examine how racialized political implications impact aboriginal family life and
intimate relations. The central issues in this paper will focus on social and political historical
oppressions such as the Sixties Scoop, The Indian Act, and Residential Schooling, to examine how
colonialism has, and still negatively affects intimate relations within aboriginal families and
communities, and their ways of doing family .
The Indian Act illustrates how government policy on the macro level, shapes micro level privileges
and exclusions for aboriginals based on citizenship. Mandatory residential schooling stripped children
of their culture, and predisposed survivors to mental health issues and strained parent child
relationships for future generations. The Sixties Scoop ripped families apart by disrupting intimate
relations within the family.
Aboriginal people s culture and traditions have been under attack through colonial and prejudicial
attitudes, having negative consequences for Aboriginal families as a whole. Residential Schools, The
Indian Act, and The sixties scoop, inspired by the Canadian governments political strive for nation
building, has had severe repercussions on Aboriginal family life, exposing how interlocking
dimensions of race, class, gender, and citizenship impact the Aboriginal family. I argue that racialized

What Makes King Arthur An Intriguing Person

In Analysis: What Made King Arthur an Intriguing Person
What are your qualities? Just like everyone King Arthur has his good and bad qualities. King Arthur s
good qualities is what makes him an intriguing person. King Arthur was a legendary ruler of Britain
whose life and deeds became the basis for a collection of tales known as the Arthurian legends. As the
leading figure in British mythology, King Arthur is a national hero and a symbol of Britain s heroic
heritage. But his appeal is not limited to Britain. The Arthurian story, with its elements of mystery,
magic, love, war, adventure, betrayal, chivalry, and fate, has touched the popular imagination and has
become part of the world s shared mythology. King Arthur was born somewhere in the misty region
where history and imagination meet (Gale Student Resources). The legend of King Arthur may have

First off, I d like to ask, What is AVID? For outsiders, they believe it is just a college prep class. In
some ways it is, but there is so much more to this class. Where teachers help us gain unique study

They say a AVID has proven achievement and brings a lifelong Advantage. But it s not just the class it

Sociological Perspective In The Matrix
The Matrix, released in 1999, is a science fiction action film that depicts a dystopian future. In this
reality, what is perceived by humans is only a computer simulated reality called The Matrix which was
created in order to sustain human delusion while their bodies were used as an energy source by
machines. The main character, computer hacker Neo (played by Keanu Reeves, respectively) is drawn
into rebellion against the machines once he is united with those that have been freed from the false
reality. The characters, suffering from the reality of a broken illusion, make specific choices and
decisions which can be explained or validated by sociological perspectives discussed by Berger. First
off, The Matrix can be defined as a social institution with the ability to give those that live within the
false reality a fulfilled existence and exert social control over it s residing victims. Second, the
betrayal of Cypher touches upon the concept of sociological knowledge; specifically, the reference
group ideology. Lastly, Neo s previous feelings of unease and change of character after he joins
Morpheus rebellion shows the importance a reference group can have on the overall personality and
ideology of a person. Therefore, the Sociological Perspective understands the personalities, actions,
and story of the movie The Matrix in a variety of ways.

Analysis Of Diego Rivera s Man At The Crossroads
The ever so common breach of artist freedom was brought to life in 1934 when Diego Rivera s
commissioned painting, Man at the Crossroads, was destroyed for its controversial content. This piece,
originally commissioned by the Rockefellers to place on the ground floor of Rockefeller Center,
representing hope and a new future. Rivera s depiction of this began with painting a man controlling a
machine at the center of the mural, surrounded by what Rivera called elongated ellipses that were
filled alternately with cell patterns and cosmological explosions (qtd. In Social History of the United
States 325). Within his first few weeks of painting the mural, the New York World Telegram called the
mural anti capitalist propaganda . After Rivera saw this article he was outraged,he sent his assistant to

and left the painting incomplete until it was destroyed by workers in 1934.
Although Rivera s addition of Lenin was unexpected and spontaneous it wasn t out of character.

A dystopia is a place full of contempt, agony and is in no way a mediocre society which we live in
today. People in a dystopia are similar to a bunch of marionette puppets; they are told how to live their
life and are always controlled by a greater power. The protagonist always tries to defeat or defy the
person or object of higher power in order to create a healthier society. Furthermost works of literature
are based off of dystopian societies since it s easier to write about; it has added feelings and emotion
that create a fantastic read. Dystopian societies have an enormous amount of convolutions in the way
of life. You are able to put additional emotions and deep feelings in the story in order to make it
interesting and an addicting, readable piece of literature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A dystopia is very much easier to relate to than a utopia. As a writer, you need your reader to be able
to relate to the piece you write. When that happens then you are able to hook new people into reading
your stories and listen to what you need to say. For the people who can t relate to the story,
nonetheless still love reading these types of stories are usually the people who appreciate reading
about a dystopia since it makes them feel superior about their life or some people just adore reading
about a dystopia other than a utopia. It could also be that they are in a rough point in time; therefore

The Difference Between Love And Lust
What is the difference between love and lust? According to the dictionary, love is a feeling of strong
and constant affection for a person. On the other hand, lust is a strong sexual desire for another (
Merriam Webster ). The definitions of love and lust are complete opposites. Love is a constant feeling,
while lust is impermanent. Yet, the two are always confused between people. This is because of the
word strong in both of the definitions. When a person is deeply in love or is consumed by lust, the
feelings are both strong. Therefore, it is sometimes challenging to differentiate. Banksy, a well known
street artist, realized the problem with love and lust, and decided to teach people a lesson by painting a
piece of street art called Waiting in Vain...at the Door of the Club.
Banksy is a very renowned street artist who keeps his identity unknown. His artwork is portrayed by
striking images, often combined with slogans, [which] engages political themes, satirically critiquing
war, capitalism, hypocrisy and greed ( Banksy Biography ). He first started his bold street art in
Bristol, his hometown located in London, but quickly spread to the United States of America. In the
U.S., Banksy targeted the most populated cities; this was due to the fact that it was easier for him to
spread his messages. With a crowded location, his lessons will extent over an audience much quicker.
One of the most popular places where Banksy s art fills the streets is New York City, which was

Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee
During the Civil War period, a pro¬slavery mob chained Francis McIntosh to a locust tree, burnt him
fatality in 1837. There are a lot of abolitionists, like Elijah Parish Lovejoy, who lost their lives when
criticizing lynching. Elijah Parish Lovejoy showed both physical and moral courage fighting against
inequality. The real courage of abolitionists during that time was gaining equal opportunities for
African ¬Americans, and be treated the same as white people, no matter the consequences. Even after
a century, there is no slavery anymore, there is still racism happening. In Harper Lee s book To Kill a
Mockingbird, she shows the real meaning of courage fighting for equal rights in the small town of
Maycomb, Alabama, during the Great Depression. Lee shows that the society is unfair and teaches
people how important it is to have courage. The novel is narrated by an innocent girl named Scout,
whose father, Atticus, is a famous lawyer, and tries to provide equal rights to the people. She lives
with her father Atticus and her older brother Jem. The two siblings grow up learning about prejudice,
unfair treatments in the society and they started to understand the moral of life. In the event of Tom
Robinson, poor black men, is being accused of raping a white girl which is not true. He is being
treated unequally, they stand up, show respect to the African¬ Americans and fight against racism.

The Tragedy of Prince Hamlet
King Hamlet s death left a mark on everyone in the castle, after a while that all began to change when
Claudius married Hamlet s mother. Hamlet felt that everybody should be mourning his father s death,
and he felt betrayed by the sudden marriage. Hamlet becomes mad once he sees his father as a ghost
and seeks to avenge his father s death, not knowing that this would lead to his death. The grief of King
Hamlet s death and the reactions of his loved ones changed Prince Hamlet s life by showing signs of
post traumatic stress disorder. King Hamlet s death left a big mark on his son Prince Hamlet, he was
Hamlets idol. Hamlet wanted to commit suicide because he was still mourning the death of his father,
but he didn t because he thought of the consequences of purgatory, where he would not go to heaven
or hell but remain as a lost soul in the world ( Hamlet s ) These reactions relate to PTSD because
Hamlet cannot let his father go and he also suffers by the reactions of his loved ones who are calm and
happy for Gertrude and Claudius. Less than two months after his father s death, Hamlet noticed the
reactions of his loved ones, his mother married King Hamlet s brother Claudius whom became king
after King Hamlet died, no one had an issue with their marriage the only one who was disturbed by
the marriage was Prince Hamlet and he was disturbed by the reactions of his loved ones and
everybody else. As the marriage

Comparison Of Porphyrias Lover And The Flea
Porphyrias Lover, My Last Duchess and The Flea all have the theme of love in them
Porphyrias Lover, My Last Duchess and The Flea all have the theme of love in them. But they are not
all the same theme of love for example
Porphyrias Lover is obsessive and seductive love whereas; The Flea is more like sexual love. Robert
Browning writes both Porphyrias Lover and My Last Duchess and John Donne writes The Flea. I
think
Porphyrias Lover and My Last Duchess are alike as Robert Browning uses similar themes of love in
them e.g. Obsessive and Possessive. The
Flea is a completely different poem altogether. It is more of a sexual poem rather than obsessive but it
could be argued that it is obsessive as well because the male is obsessed ... Show more content on

The Flea is quite alike Porphyrias Lover. The type of love that is used in The Flea is sexual love. In
The Flea the poet attempts to seduce his mistress by overcoming her coyness through argument. The
poem although sexual is also religious aswel, And sacrilege, three sins in killing three. This quote
shows a religious side to the poem because she is being unreligious and she is making three sins as she
is killing three people The Flea, herself and the poet, the poet makes the Flea represent himself and his
mistress and says, Three lives in one flea spare. This poem ends with the mistress squashing the Flea
and therefore killing their love. I think that this poem could be related to Porphyrias Lover a little bit
because the poet is very keen and obsessed with getting his mistress into bed but unlike
Porphyrias Lover it is the male trying to seduce and bed his mistress not the other way around.
My Last Duchess is more like Porphyrias Lover than The Flea because in this poem by Robert
Browning he does not seduce his mistress instead he kills her. The type of love that is shown in this
poem is possessive. This Poem is about a Duke and his Mistress, in the poem the duke gets jealous
and possessive over his Duchess She thanked men good! But thanked somehow I know not how as if
she ranked my gift of a nine hundred years old name with anybody s gift. This quote not only shows

Sophocles Oedipus The King
Through the interactive oral presentations, our class learned about the Greek religion and culture
surrounding the life of Sophocles when he wrote Oedipus The King. Before the interactive oral
assignments were presented, I understood the themes of hubris and sight on a low level. The
interactive oral presentations really strengthened my understanding of why Sophocles used these
themes in his story about a king who falls from power. Now I know that hubris was a hated
characteristic in this time period and that is why Sophocles wanted to demonstrate how bad it was to
his audience.
The interactive oral presentations also taught me about other Greek myths, festivals, history, and even

Analysis Of Signs Preceding The End Of The World
Signs Preceding the End of the World Signs Preceding the End of the World is an insider s look at the
mind and journey of an illegal immigrant. A Mexican young woman crossing the border story is what
challenges the ethics of readers. The main character in Signs Preceding the End of the World is
Makina. Makina is in charge of a small Mexican town s telephone. A reliable, messenger, she knows
how to keep a secret and when to keep her mouth shut. She is dangerous when threatened, quick to
defend herself against lecherous fools, and unafraid of speaking truth to power (Long). Makina is just
like an ordinary person. She is no different from an average American. Makina has a job and harmless
when not threatened. Americans act as if immigrants are so beneath them. Immigrants are hard
workers, just like Americans. Immigrants want better lives for themselves and their families, just like
Americans. Americans and immigrants are not the only ones who want these things. People all around
the world want what is best for everyone they know. Most people will do whatever it takes to get to
what they need; even if it is in life threatening conditions. Signs Preceding the End of the World
challenges our ethics by placing the reader in the mind of an illegal immigrant, allowing the reader to
know the true feelings and experience of the immigrant. The reader s ethics are first challenged when
Makina began her journey; when the reader finds out that Makina needs to find her brother that has

people who have remained in the low country region to the present day and continue with their
traditional Gullah language and culture to one extent or another. (Campbell). These peoples vary in
their degree of immersion in the Gullah culture, but still remain in the area in which the Gullah
language and lifestyle have been preserved since the days of slavery. The second circle, Modern
Gullahs , are separated into two groups. One group includes Gullahs who have remained in the low
country of South Carolina, but have lost their use of the language and culture. The second group is
made up of those who have retained their use of the Gullah language and culture, but live away from
their homeland. So, for example, there are many Gullah speaking families who live in Northeastern
cities such as New York, but send their children back to the southern coast so that the connection with
their traditions remains intact. The third circle of Gullah descendants is called Gullah Family . This
group is also separated into two different groups. The primary group including those who have lost
their Gullah language and culture when they moved away, but remained in contact with their family in
the low country; and the secondary being those who once left the land of their ancestors, but have
returned and begun to acquire the Gullah language and culture again. The final two groups are much
smaller, but no less important to the modern demographic of Gullah culture. The fourth circle, known
as the Gullah Diaspora refers to the Black Seminoles , whom are Gullah natives who fled to Florida
centuries ago, and allied themselves with the Seminoles/Native American groups there. Lastly, the
fifth circle is identified as the Gullah Descendants . This group is made up of those who were born or

the investigation. He was in the study directly below his son s nursery when he was taken and only

who found the first ransom letter, after the police, Anne, and Betty Gow had searched the room for
evidence. Anne was a suspect because she was also in the home at the time of the kidnapping. Resting
in her room, due to a cold, she did not hear any suspicious noises. Anne s sister, Elisabeth Morrow,
was suspected of the crime as well. She was initially romantically involved with Charles Lindbergh,
Sr. until he announced his engagement to Anne. Over time she became both physically and
emotionally ill. Fits of violence made her staff believe that she had killed her own dog, and she was
not allowed to be alone with Charles Lindbergh, Jr. for fear that she would harm him in one of her fits.

Consumer Behaviour And Their Influence On Consumer Buying...
The consumer behaviour is the study of how an individual decides to purchase a product over the
other, and the underlying factors that mold such behaviour. There are a number of incredibly complex
external and internal influences affecting consumer buying behaviour. The key influences comprise of
cultural, social, personal and psychological factors. It is critical to examine these influences facing
consumer behaviour, and explore how customers think about, and behave towards the company, and
its market offerings to design them in a way that is attractive from the perspective of these influential
factors.

Additionally, each culture consists of several smaller subcultures. These subcultures are groups of
people with shared value systems based on common life experiences and situations (Claessens, 2015).
They can be divided into nationalities, regions, political affiliations, sexual preferences, but also
geographic regions.
Global marketers must be fully aware of the cultures and subcultures in each market and take
appropriate marketing measures (Armstrong et al. 2015, 138). For example, society today is becoming
increasingly conscious about going green, using organic, eco friendly and ethical products with
socially responsible practices, and therefore the cosmetic niche market has had an increase in demand
for natural products (Fiorletta, 2015). Lush is completely committed to provided natural fresh organic
products which are free from chemicals. Moreover, consumers are increasingly focused about the
environmental impacts and footprints left by companies. Lush as a result, holds a strong stance on
socially responsible practices and advocating for many issues across the spectrums of environmental
sustainability, animal welfare and human rights.
A buyer s social class often plays an important role in his/her conumer buying behaviour. Almost
every society has some permanent division, hierarchy or social class structure (Armstrong et al. 2015,

The Effect Of Outrigger Truss On Composite High Rise...
Study on Effectiveness of Outrigger Truss in Composite High Rise Buildings by Simplified Method
Ei Ei Khine Ph.D Candidate, Department of Civil Engineering, Yangon Technological University,
Yangon, Republic of the Union of Myanmar eekmayday83@gmail.com Abstract The design of tall
and slender structures is controlled by three governing factors, strength (material capacity), stiffness
(drift) and serviceability (motion perception and accelerations), produced by the action of lateral
loading, such as wind and earthquake. Outrigger systems are generally very effective in fulfilling the
serviceability requirements of tall buildings. This research conducted a study on effectiveness of
outrigger truss by simplified method to introduce the normal buildings that can be minimized the
deflection as the buildings with outrigger. Two and three outrigger levels are used in 40 and 50 storey
square shape buildings respectively. From this result, the engineers can run the buildings without
using outrigger to get the minimum deflection as the buildings with outrigger but the base shear is
larger than outrigger buildings significantly. Therefore, for the proposed buildings to get minimum
deflection, the outrigger is more effective than simplified method.

There is no doubt that The Philadelphia Story is one of the best American romantic comedy file in

Hepburn s acting make me so impressive. After finishing watching this film, I fall in love with this
wonderful story not just because Katharine Hepburn is a beautiful as well as elegant lady, but lots of
plots of this film are thoughtful and interesting. The most important event in The Philadelphia Story is

Reflection On Work Experience
3. Reflections on Work Experience
3.1 Contributions
I fortunately get involved in the development of the next release of the program. The release includes
several bug fixes, as well as some functional changes.
My tasks are to solve clients tickets and requests, tested the current version of the program and fixed
any bugs found. If the ticket is a problem at the client s end, I will contact the client to solve the
problem. For the ones that effect all client base, and requires a code change, I will fix it in code, and
get ready to the next release.
Since the program is for internal users only, solving their problems will help them to accomplish their
work better for example, by reducing the number of times of error messages and program crashes, it
will reduce the number of times for clients to restart the program or the computer avoiding such
problem will help our clients to focus on the real work, managing and retrieving major case
investigations effectively, which in return, contribute to meet the RCMP s mission and mandates.
3.2 Relation to academic studies
I use a combination of technical skills and soft skills in my daily work. I am thankful that I have built
a solid base for most of the skills in my academic studies. By having a practical experience of those
skills through this work term, I am sure that they will be beneficial to my future academic studies and
career.

Biography of Alexandre Dumas
Alexandre Dumas was a descendant of a nobleman and the son of a general (Benton), and continued
his family legacy by writing about 300 fiction and non fiction books, plus creating six different
periodicals (Benton). His writing styles and characters embody his life experiences as many writers
do, and provides the oppurtunity to look back in time to see parts of French social culture, for example
how its classes were defined and people s opinions on what was acceptable and what wasn t through
use of euphanisms. The main influences on Alexandre Dumas when writing The Count of Monte
Cristo were religion, especially Catholicism, his father, the French Revolution, the movement of
French Romanticism, and a man named Picaud. It is clear that during Dumas time in France, the
Catholic religion was clearly favored in France with articles like The Concordat of 1815, which
Kristen Hosack explains that, The agreement recognized Catholicism as the religion of the great
majority of citizens, and the clergy. (Hosack 32) and also the French Constitution of 1830, which,
although it promised freedom of religion, also gave compensation to ministers of the Catholic...
religion. (Halsall). These two documents were both publicised during Dumas life and prior to The
Count of Monte Cristo, so it is acceptable to say that Catholicism was the religion of France during
this era. Dumas makes constant references to God in Monte Cristo, and also creates a Christ
symbolism with Monte Cristo,

  • 2. Evidence Informed Practice On Facilitating Learning Evidence informed practice in facilitating learning Introduction This paper will seek to explore the literature surrounding the diverse debate and narratives which have defined the body of academic research surrounding facilitating learning and the centrality of evidence informed practice. There has been a diverse shift in focus between the domains of research and practice. Therefore, this paper will endeavour to ascertain key developments in order to nurture a strong awareness of the available research. The intellectual genesis of this analysis surrounds the work of a British academic, Professor David Hargreaves, who elucidated a new concept of educational research. Hargreaves believed, ?teaching is not at present a research based profession? (Hargreaves, 1996). The intellectual foundations of research principles in the delivery of education are an important dynamic. This paper, therefore, will outline the academic journey of this progression. Literature Review ? Evidence Informed Practice in Facilitating Learning The purpose of the literature evaluation is to explore the wider academic landscape surrounding the research question in order to develop an understanding of the evolution of current themes and narratives in the education sector involving facilitating learning outcomes and the evidence based process behind this objective. Learning: The Basics In order to fully understand our research, we need to understand the basics. What is learning? This is the start point of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Implementation Of The First National Noise Abatement... Summary Noise is defined as unwanted sound, which can affect the human body in a number of ways. There is evidence of high blood pressure, irritability, and lack of sleep that cause additional problems (Goines, Hagler, 2007). In 1968, the culmination of public outcry over airport noise was enough to bring change to national policy. The jet era was in full swing and residents whom were content with a soft buzzing in the distance were now overwhelmed with noise that rattled windows and interrupted sleep. As the community made complaints to their local representatives, laws were passed to try to ease the amount of noise by jet engines. Without a federal standard, most local laws were thrown out; however, judges ruled that airports were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although, courts did allow airfield owners to restrict types of aircraft able to land. This was a way to limit bigger aircraft, with larger engines from landing. Yet, there still was no federal guideline or law concerning aircraft noise. Course of Action Eventually in 1968, Congress delegated responsibility for aircraft noise to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), to regulate and prescribe standards for measuring aircraft noise and sonic boom. This became known as the Aircraft Noise and Abatement Act (ANAA) of 1968 (ANAA, 1968). This included aircraft weight, number of engines, and type of engines used, which categorized them into three classes based on the level of noise produced. Stage I, was not tested or exceeded mandated noise levels. Stage II, met noise standards for their weight and number of engines, and Stage III that produced a lower level of noise than what was required (ANAA, 1968). An amendment to this Act, continued to allow airport proprietors to deny the use of their airports to aircraft on the basis of noise considerations so long as such exclusion is non discriminatory (Goldstein, 1975). Once the ANAA was created, the FAA could no longer ignore complaints about aircraft noise and had to work toward goals to reduce the impact of noise on citizens. Additionally, many amendments and revisions have been implemented in the years following the ANAA. Some of these include a requirement in 1972, to consult with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Jazz paper Born in New York City, Artie Shaw would become one of the top bandleaders in the swing era. He began his musical career as a highly sought after alto saxophone player in the New York area, and was able to benefit from the growth of radio and studio recordings. As he perfected his technical ability with various dance bands, he was still relatively unknown in the early 30 s when he began to focus exclusively on the Clarinet while Swing music began to grow in popularity. While we may carefully analyze the two pieces to satisfy our curiosity regarding musical evolution in Jazz, we should also not lose sight of the fact that these are two very enjoyable styles of music. From the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later that year, Jobim was invited along with other Brazilian artists to perform in the US as Bossa Nova grew into a very popular musical fad. Several other Jazz groups adjusted their styles, releasing many Bossa Nova songs until the trend fell from popularity in the late 1960 s. Jobim continued to perform with small groups around the world to appreciative audiences until shortly before his death, securing his reputation as one of the great songwriters of Jazz music in the 20th century. Begin the Beguine was recorded in July 1938 by a swing orchestra led by Artie Shaw on the clarinet as the lead soloist. His big band was composed of 3 trumpet players, 3 trombones, 2 alto saxophones, 2 tenor sax players, and a rhythm section including piano, guitar, bass, and drums. As the song begins with the clarinet solo and muted trumpets, the swing feel becomes clear to the listener. The rhythm section keeps a steady beat of 4 beats per measure throughout, and the solos are carefully defined and organized with the drums or the trumpets occasionally helping to bridge gaps between various sections of the song until the Clarinet finally leads the band to a conclusion. Desafinado was recorded in February 1962 by a small jazz group of six skilled musicians. The front men for this recording was Stan Getz on Tenor Sax and Charlie Byrd on the guitar. A rhythm guitar, bass, drums, and percussionist formed the rhythm section for this famous Bossa Nova tune. As the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of Aaron Burr And Alexander Hamilton The Oval Office symbolizes the government whenever public judgement casts the governmental system in negative or positive light. Arguably, every presidential administration becomes marked by the supposed corruption that lies within it, for the office is considered the Room Where It Happens (Miranda and McCarter 186). In homage to the times of exclusion and inclusion of Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton in this room during the founding father s era of government, Hamilton: The Revolution, by Lin Manuel Miranda and Jeremy McCarter, states that [one] feel[s] like [one has] been Burr [..] as many times as [one has] been Hamilton (264). Nevertheless, as Miranda identifies to a greater degree with Hamilton because of his rags to riches record, my ideologies gravitate towards Burr from experiences in a culture where failure is condemned. Moreover, the eventual vilification of Burr for his role in Hamilton s demise versus Hamilton s martyrdom for his reckless abandon leads me to identify more with Burr as a victim of fallacious antagonization than Hamilton as an erroneous martyr based on a single precept: one s reputation stems from a series of public judgements void of consideration on individual detriment. Dominance acts as a form of dopamine to man s brain: it gives man satisfaction from superiority and control over supposedly inferior beings. The idea to skip use the gap to build a new neighborhood came from a Pasadena based architectural firm, Stefanos Polyzoides with Moule Polyzoides. Polyzoides suggests that Caltrans sell the land near the northern end of where the 710 Freeway is supposed to be to the city of Pasadena. The city could then redevelop the land into housing, businesses, etc. His mention of incorporating a tree boulevard only makes the plan sound better. The Pasadena architect presented his plan at a West Pasadena Residents Association meeting. It included a mixture of single family housing on the southern end of the 50 acre segement in Pasadena with more dense housing closer to the 210 Freeway. Of course, businesses would be incorporated throughout the neighborhood, as well. The design is being compared to Old Town Pasadena. Pasadena mayor, Terry Tornek, is planning to put a repeal of Measure A on the November ballot. (Measure A is the voter approved 2001 measure supporting the completion of the 710 Freeway). I think Porphyrias Lover and My Last Duchess are alike as Robert Browning uses similar themes of love in them e.g. Obsessive and Possessive. The Flea is a completely different poem altogether. It is more of a sexual poem rather than obsessive but it could be argued that it is obsessive as well because the male is obsessed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Flea is quite alike Porphyrias Lover. The type of love that is used in The Flea is sexual love. In The Flea the poet attempts to seduce his mistress by overcoming her coyness through argument. The poem although sexual is also religious aswel, And sacrilege, three sins in killing three. This quote shows a religious side to the poem because she is being unreligious and she is making three sins as she is killing three people The Flea, herself and the poet, the poet makes the Flea represent himself and his mistress and says, Three lives in one flea spare. This poem ends with the mistress squashing the Flea and therefore killing their love. I think that this poem could be related to Porphyrias Lover a little bit because the poet is very keen and obsessed with getting his mistress into bed but unlike Porphyrias Lover it is the male trying to seduce and bed his mistress not the other way around. My Last Duchess is more like Porphyrias Lover than The Flea because in this poem by Robert Browning he does not seduce his mistress instead he kills her. The type of love that is shown in this poem is possessive. This Poem is about a Duke and his Mistress, in the poem the duke gets jealous and possessive over his Duchess She thanked men good! But thanked somehow I know not how as if she ranked my gift of a nine hundred years old name with anybody s gift. This quote not only shows how possessive the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before the interactive oral assignments were presented, I understood the themes of hubris and sight on a low level. The interactive oral presentations really strengthened my understanding of why Sophocles used these themes in his story about a king who falls from power. Now I know that hubris was a hated characteristic in this time period and that is why Sophocles wanted to demonstrate how bad it was to his audience. Analysis Of Signs Preceding The End Of The World Signs Preceding the End of the World Signs Preceding the End of the World is an insider s look at the mind and journey of an illegal immigrant. A Mexican young woman crossing the border story is what challenges the ethics of readers. The main character in Signs Preceding the End of the World is Makina. Makina is in charge of a small Mexican town s telephone. A reliable, messenger, she knows how to keep a secret and when to keep her mouth shut. She is dangerous when threatened, quick to defend herself against lecherous fools, and unafraid of speaking truth to power (Long). Makina is just like an ordinary person. She is no different from an average American. Makina has a job and harmless when not threatened. Americans act as if immigrants are so beneath them. Immigrants are hard workers, just like Americans. Immigrants want better lives for themselves and their families, just like Americans. Americans and immigrants are not the only ones who want these things. People all around the world want what is best for everyone they know. Most people will do whatever it takes to get to what they need; even if it is in life threatening conditions. Signs Preceding the End of the World challenges our ethics by placing the reader in the mind of an illegal immigrant, allowing the reader to know the true feelings and experience of the immigrant. The reader s ethics are first challenged when Makina began her journey; when the reader finds out that Makina needs to find her brother that has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So, for example, there are many Gullah speaking families who live in Northeastern cities such as New York, but send their children back to the southern coast so that the connection with their traditions remains intact. The third circle of Gullah descendants is called Gullah Family . This group is also separated into two different groups. The primary group including those who have lost their Gullah language and culture when they moved away, but remained in contact with their family in the low country; and the secondary being those who once left the land of their ancestors, but have returned and begun to acquire the Gullah language and culture again. • 35. The Effect Of Outrigger Truss On Composite High Rise... Study on Effectiveness of Outrigger Truss in Composite High Rise Buildings by Simplified Method Ei Ei Khine Ph.D Candidate, Department of Civil Engineering, Yangon Technological University, Yangon, Republic of the Union of Myanmar eekmayday83@gmail.com Abstract The design of tall and slender structures is controlled by three governing factors, strength (material capacity), stiffness (drift) and serviceability (motion perception and accelerations), produced by the action of lateral loading, such as wind and earthquake. Outrigger systems are generally very effective in fulfilling the serviceability requirements of tall buildings. This research conducted a study on effectiveness of outrigger truss by simplified method to introduce the normal buildings that can be minimized the deflection as the buildings with outrigger. Two and three outrigger levels are used in 40 and 50 storey square shape buildings respectively. From this result, the engineers can run the buildings without using outrigger to get the minimum deflection as the buildings with outrigger but the base shear is larger than outrigger buildings significantly. Therefore, for the proposed buildings to get minimum deflection, the outrigger is more effective than simplified method. The release includes several bug fixes, as well as some functional changes. My tasks are to solve clients tickets and requests, tested the current version of the program and fixed any bugs found. If the ticket is a problem at the client s end, I will contact the client to solve the problem. For the ones that effect all client base, and requires a code change, I will fix it in code, and get ready to the next release. • 39. Biography of Alexandre Dumas Alexandre Dumas was a descendant of a nobleman and the son of a general (Benton), and continued his family legacy by writing about 300 fiction and non fiction books, plus creating six different periodicals (Benton). His writing styles and characters embody his life experiences as many writers do, and provides the oppurtunity to look back in time to see parts of French social culture, for example how its classes were defined and people s opinions on what was acceptable and what wasn t through use of euphanisms. The main influences on Alexandre Dumas when writing The Count of Monte Cristo were religion, especially Catholicism, his father, the French Revolution, the movement of French Romanticism, and a man named Picaud. It is clear that during Dumas time in France, the Catholic religion was clearly favored in France with articles like The Concordat of 1815, which Kristen Hosack explains that, The agreement recognized Catholicism as the religion of the great majority of citizens, and the clergy. (Hosack 32) and also the French Constitution of 1830, which, although it promised freedom of religion, also gave compensation to ministers of the Catholic... religion. (Halsall).
