Universal Design For Learning Within Educational Environments
Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening
of respect for human rights... promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all... (The
United Nations, 1948). As emphasised by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, education is an
inalienable right, and until it is proven that a student will not benefit from or is not stimulated by being
in school, it must be assumed that they are gaining some value from the experience. Indoctrinated
within Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework is the need for teachers to shift from
primarily hosting students with additional educational needs, to extensively engaging them in a
fruitful education. Under the principles of Universal Design for Learning, educators venture to create
these meaningful learning experiences as a result of employing innovative educational mechanisms
that ensure the participation of everyone. This essay aims to explore the invaluable effect of
incorporating the elements of Universal Design for Learning within educational environments, with
specific reference to the English curriculum.
Understanding Universal Design and Universal Design for Learning
Universal Design is an enduring and innovative design process that enables and empowers a diverse
population by improving human performance, health and wellness, and social participation (Steinfeld
Maisel, 2012). The original Principles of Universal Design were created in the late nineties by

Quantitative Research Critique: Responsibilities of Public School Nurses
Nursing has many roles, allowing for a diverse field to choose from upon graduation. One of those
choices is the responsibility of a school nurse and consequently that of the entire population of the
public school for which he/she works. School Nurses in New Jersey: A Quantitative Inquiry on Roles
and Responsibilities by Cheryl A. Krause Parello and Kimika Samms will show how those
responsibilities have grown as it seeks to further previous research. Disease processes for children

chronic diseases present and nursing procedures administered in school) could be a question.
Hypothesis/Hypotheses Since the steady increase of students with chronic illnesses in public schools,
there has been an increase in the roles and responsibilities of school nurses (Krause Parello amp;
Kimika, 2010). This study looks to build upon other studies, but as well, it does look to prove this.
Study Variables The independent variables in this study are the nurses. With the study design being
non experimental, however, no manipulation takes place. The research is only being replicated exactly
as it was and so we would not expect to see any dependent study variables (Burns amp; Grove, 2011).
Conceptual Model/Theoretical Framework Betty Neuman s conceptual model of nursing is concerned
with the person as a whole and stresses prevention. She brought us primary, secondary, and tertiary
prevention (Nursing Theories, 2011). It is noted through the study of the health promotion/disease
prevention activities that the schools of New Jersey are required to have a wellness plan and that the
nurses agree to the importance of prevention of disease by early health screening (Krause Parello amp;
Kimika, 2010).
Review of Related Literature Through the literature review, it became apparent that over the past few
years the roles and responsibilities of nurses has increased even further; this study sought to bring that
research current and encourage school nurses

Mississippi Casino Gambling
Casino gambling remains a controversial issue, mostly due to personal and religious views on the
negative effects (gambling addictions) it has on society. However, there seems to be very little
controversy relating to the role the casino industry has in the state s economic and tourism
development. The purpose of the paper is to provide a synopsis of the role Mississippi s casino
industry has played in the state s economic and tourism industry. The report focuses on three
jurisdictions: Tunica, Greenville, and the Gulf Coast. The report supports my theory that the
Mississippi casino industry unequivocally has a positive impact on the state s economy and tourism
industry.

During the Cold War there was a race to space between the US and USSR. The USSR would be the

The Representation Of Refugees Through A Political And...
Refugees are a prominent group of people in today s society. A refugee is someone who is outside his
or her country of origin and is at risk of being persecuted if he or she returns . The Convention
Relating to the Status of Refugees establishes the basic human rights to which refugees are entitled
wherever they are (Dauvergne, 2012, p. 1445). Refugees are talked about and handled in certain ways
within different discourses. Foucault s defines discourse as the rules and practices that produce
meaningful statements about a topic at a particular historical moment. He argues that it constricts the
topic . (Hall, 1997, p.44). This essay will analyse the representation of refugees through a political and
media discourse. A political discourse on refugees is explored in Rocco Fazzari and Denis Carnahan s
video Stop the Boats (with cash) Tony . The video highlights the political language for talking about
refugees and the ways in which they are viewed by the Australian government. In comparison the
media discourse will be examined through Nilufer Demir s (2015) photograph of a drowned Syrian
child refugee. The image stresses the pivotal role the media plays in constructing and circulating
meanings (Hightower, 2014, p.336). By analysing refugees through these two texts, an understanding
of the different representation and meanings produced by separate discourses on the same topic can be
developed.
A political discourse allows the government s policies on refugees and the

How Does Merlin Influence Arthur s Life
The Hollow Hills by Mary Stewart is a new twist on the classic King Arthur tale with the spotlight on
protecting Arthur for the sake of the kingdom s destiny. Over the course of the book many important
men, or lack thereof, have big influences on Arthur s life and how he will be as a leader or family
member in the future. A big influence on Arthur in this story is Merlin. Whether Arthur realizes it or
not, Merlin has really set the course of his life. Merlin helped place Arthur and set up who would be
around him, so not only did he directly influence Arthur when they finally met, he also picked good
people who he knew would affect Arthur in a positive way. Merlin was as peaceful as he was cunning
and always found ways to make things work out, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of these traits can and will influence Arthur in a positive way. ...Ralf was soon active again, insistent
that he no longer needed doctoring. (Stewart 45), Ralf was never down for long and some of this is
shown in Arthur. When Cador finds Merlin on the Isle of Glass, Arthur s immediate reaction is to
threaten Cador even with an army opposing him. This could be linked to how Ralf is protective of
who he loves. Uther sending Arthur away obviously influenced Arthur s life in a major way, even if
Arthur did not realize it at the time. Later, when Arthur had learned what had happened, he was
definitely confused, but soon calmed down and understood why. Seeing that his father made such a
large decision and stuck with it could have influenced how he rules as a king. Arthur had little time
with his Uther before the king passed, but of the time they had Arthur saw uther be a great leader in a
time of illness, QUOTE HERE, a time that Arthur could look back to in the future and draw strength
from. The time they had together influenced Arthur for the better,

The Charter At Suffolk Speech And Hearing Center
The covenant not to compete that Ms. Rice signed as a part of her employment contract at Suffolk
Speech and Hearing Center ( Suffolk Speech ) is most likely going to be found enforceable. As found
in Technical Aid Corp v. Allen, there is a three prong test to determine whether or not a restrictive
covenant is reasonable and therefore enforceable. 591 A.2d 262, 265 66 (N.H. 1991). The first being,
is the restriction greater than is necessary to protect the legitimate interests of the employer. Id.
Secondly, does the restriction impose an undue hardship on the employee. Id. at 266. And lastly, is the
restriction injurious to the public. Id. For the purposes of this memo, only the first two elements will
be analyzed as the third has already been found to be a non issue. Because the covenant that Ms. Rice
signed at the start of her employment at Suffolk Speech was reasonable in that it protects Suffolk
speech from competition in an appropriate surrounding area that does not pose an undue hardship, it
will be very difficult for the court to deem the covenant unenforceable. The first issue that must go
satisfied or unsatisfied is whether or not the restriction from the covenant not to compete was greater
than necessary to protect to legitimate interests of Suffolk Speech. Id. The court must evaluate a few
things when determining whether this element is satisfied or not. Important factors to determine if the
restriction is greater than necessary includes the size of the company,

Alex libby is my first example for a teen activist that fights against bullying. According to a website

grade because of his facial look. He would get called names like fish face and receive physical threats
to break his bones, especially on the bus. On the bus he would get constant punches. It all changed
once he watched a bully documentary. That s when he realised that he wasn t the only one being

because she was blind she couldn t see them leave her so it took her a little bit to realise that her
friends left her. The worst part was that she was bullied physically and verbally. Kids would take away
her cane and hide it, they would laugh at her and they even told her to KILL HERSELF! I think that is

The Assassination Of Abraham Lincoln Essay
Sic Semper Tyrannis or Thus always I bring death to tyrants were the famous words of Confederate
actor John Wilkes Booth after he shot President Lincoln at Ford s Theatre. The assassination of
Abraham Lincoln was a devastating event that will be forever remembered in the hearts of all
American citizens. On April 20, 1999 in Littleton, Colorado, Booth s words became a part of another
American tragedy; Columbine high school was the setting for arguably one of the most infamous
school shootings in the history of America. Two average American boys, Dylan Klebold and Eric
Harris would make Columbine high school one of the most famous in the world by taking aim at their
peers and teachers, yet few people know that the notorious shooting was originally planned to be a
massive bombing. One of the boys wore a shirt under his trench coat with the infamous words blazen
on the front to guarantee that their message was understood they were seeking what they considered as
justice when they were setting off bombs in their high school. The school shooting was not the
original plan for the two seniors, Harris and Klebold had planned to blow their high school to
smithereens. Firearms were suppose to play only a small part the attack or what the boys called
Judgement Day. Jefferson County Police Department, the local department that handled the case, has
recently released the journals of the two shooters; the journals include detailed itineraries for the
attack and all of the trials

Buddhism Research Paper
Buddhism, as with any other religion, was created in a certain place at a certain time. Buddhism s
roots are formed in the idea that are part of the environment where it was created. One of the
important areas of this religion was the valley of the Ganges River. This river runs west to east across
most of the northern part of India. It was there that Buddhism first began and flourished. Later it
would spread to the southern part of India. During Buddha, which was around 500 B.C. this area was
undergoing a huge period of religious development.
The early years of Buddhism were shrouded in obscurity. One thing that was certain, was that, the
Sangha, which is the Buddhist order of the monks, survived the physical death, or what they referred
to as the Parinirvana of the Buddha. However the period between this event and the reemergence of
Buddhism in 250 B.C is not real clear. Buddhist tradition stated that there was a meeting, or a council
of some sort, that was held immediately following Buddha s death. The major focus of this meeting
was to stabilize the scriptures of Buddha, by coming to an agreement as to which scriptures spoken by

The Iliad By Ancient Greek Poet Homer Essay
The Iliad, written by ancient Greek poet Homer, chronicles the battle and events during the final
weeks of The Trojan War, an armed conflict between the Achaeans army and the defenders of Troy. It
further recounts the story of the wrath of Achilles, the greatest warrior in the Greek army, against King
Agamemnon who unfairly appropriates Briseis, the lovely maiden belonging to Achilles after
relinquishing his own maiden, Chryseis, in order to end the plague sweeping the Greek armies.
Infuriated by Agamemnon s demands, the dishonored and humiliated Achilles initially withdraws from
the king s army and enlists the service of Zeus, king of all gods, to bring upon the Achaean army a
devastating loss. He later reconciles with Agamemnon and joins the Greek army to avenge his friend,
Patroclus death, who was killed by Hector, the mightiest warrior in the Trojan army. As Achilles
renters the battle, he experiences aristeias his finest, most glorious moments during the conflict as he
is able to rout the Trojan army, mercilessly slaughtering them one by one, and dragging the mutilated
body of Hector after brutally murdering him. It is only through these fearless, life threatening actions
does Achilles achieve everlasting glory, honor and fame, bestowed to him by his community. In
Homer s Iliad, Achilles aristeia supersedes the aristeias of other characters as the warrior is able to
display unsurpassed skill and prowess in battle, is motivated to seek the principle of justice for his

Secrets Of Connecting Leadership And Learning With Humor...
Chapter three, What is Leadership? Or, He Ain t Heavy, He s (She s) my Leader, in the book, Secrets
of Connecting Leadership Learning with Humor written by Peter M. Jonas (2004), describes how
development of the brain is intertwined with one s ability to develop leadership and humorist traits.
Jonas (2004) proposes, ...leadership is a process of influencing others toward the accomplishment of a
shared purpose or value (p. 27). The author notes that as the brain grows and experiences different
situations throughout life, it separates and stores information useful for survival while disregarding the
rest. As the brain recognizes occurrences that happen over and over, the synapses make connections
that heighten leadership abilities by recognizing previous mistakes, and learns from them. It is also
noted that because humor is a universal language, it can be infused in leadership practices to help
remove social gaps attributed to hierarchal structures. Although a vast amount of research exists that
addresses what constitutes the best leadership ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Other studies conducted indicate that a high stressful life event has a high significant association with
consequent major depressive episodes at an astounding 75% proportion; evidently stating a causal
relationship (Kendler et al. 1999). Kendler et al. (1999) supported that a higher causal relationship
with stressor events was more evident in the first stage of depression over recurrent episodes of major
depression and furthermore, found that 85.4% of the sample indicated the stressful event and the
arrival of depressive symptoms occurred in the same month. Furthermore supporting the findings
previously stated by Kendall et al (2004), not all major depressive episodes are as a result of stressor
events, but may instead be attributed to the predisposition of neurotic temperaments (Kendler et al
1999). Further support for Vanessa suffering a major depressive episode is further ensued by the
theory of ambiguous loss termed by Boss (1999) who describes this term as a situation that stalls the
grieving process through the obstruction of coping and stress management, as a result of physical
absence and psychological presence, usually leading to feelings of guilt, anxiety and uncertainty and
ultimately leading to depression. Finally, in an attempt to demonstrate that Vanessa s reactions to a
romantic breakup Parker et al. s (2015) study demonstrates that depressive symptoms is a primary
response to her stressor.

Quality And Quality Of Product Quality
Product quality is defined as the collection of features and characteristics of a product that contributes
to its ability to meet given requirements. It is however not only the physical attributes of a product
which make up its quality, there are many components which can determine a products level of
quality. These can range from the function ability of the product to the customer service and general
consumer experience while purchasing the product. In this report I will be focusing on Quality
Control, Quality Assurance, Product Specifications and why they are all so important in terms of
product quality. I will also look at an instance of product quality failure, in this particular example
Lululemon had to recall certain products because they had failed to adequately test the quality of those
products. I will identify exactly what happened, why it happened and what was done to rectify the
situation.
2.0 Background Information 2.1 Quality Control is defined as the process of setting standards and
testing to make sure something, like a product or service, is done correctly. 2.2 Quality Assurance is

There were three thoughts of ghost in Elizabethan England; Catholics believed ghost went to heaven,
hell or purgatory. They believed ghosts could be seen. Protestants believed ghost went to hell and
heaven, but the majority was sent to hell. They were seen as evil and vile. Sceptics had to see a ghost
to believe it was there. Horatio was sceptic, as he asked to see the ghost that the guards claimed to
have seen. The ghost appears in the scene as the guards are talking Peace, break thee off. Look where
it comes again! The ghost is that of King Hamlet In the same figure like the king that s dead. The
ghost will not speak to them, suggesting to the audience that it is a sign of more things to come. The
ghost leaves, and the guards promise to tell Prince Hamlet of what they saw let us impart what we
have seen tonight unto young Hamlet. Shakespeare writes the play in such a way that he brings fear
into the audience. He surprises both the audience and the characters in the play, creating a hugely

Overcoming Adversity And Obstacles In The Circuit, By...
Helen Keller once said, Although the world is full of suffering, it is also about overcoming it. Helen
Keller faced a lot of adversity and obstacles in her life. But she got through it. Everyone faces
obstacles in their lives, some more than others, but no ones life is just a sunny sea. I will be telling of
four stories that are full of amazing people, who, against all odds powered through obstacles and kept
going with their lives and competing their dreams against all odds. The Circuit To start off, I will be
talking about the story, The Circuit (written by Francisco Jimenez) Panchito, a young kid who belongs
to a family of migrant workers, struggles having to leave his homes everytime the harvest ends. This
leads him to not having many friendships, missing school very often, and not always having the
greatest sleeping quarters. The shed they were given at the new place wasn t great, but it was
something, and they were grateful for it. When Panchitos parents finally agreed that he could go to
school again, he was very happy. At this new school he met a amazing teacher willing to help him
learn to speak better english and even to play the trumpet. But unfortunately, a few when he came
home from school, he saw his family already packing to move ... Show more content on

One of the ways is shown in the narrative was when Panchito kept doing the hard labor in the fields
everyday. He never once quit because it was too hard, or complained because he wanted to go to
school. Many people in our society would complain and beg for a break, leaving other people to do
the work. Following that, not only did panchito show remarkable characteristics, his family did as
well. Once Panchitos mom found a landowner willing to take them in, she was so grateful. The shelter
they were given was a garage with termite ridden walls and a dirt floor, but they didn t whine about
the conditions, they swept up and were thankful for

Should A Business Have Civil Liability For The Criminal...
Should a Business have civil liability for the criminal acts of its employee? Over the years, civil suits
have been brought against firms because of the actions of their employees. Firms are expected to have
a duty of care to select, train and supervise their employees since these employees were hired to
represent them ( An Employers liability , 2014). If a criminal act is committed by an employee, then
there has been a breach of the duty of care. Many advocates of these suits have come under the
doctrine of respondeat superior (Lype, 2000)which lays liability on a firm if its employee commits an
illegal act under employment and the criminal act was carried out to seek benefit. Hence, the
admission of civil liability by a company for criminal acts of its employees is dependent on variable
factors which should be considered before the firm can be deemed liable or not. Acting Within the
Scope of Employment A company can be held liable if the criminal act committed was within the
scope of employment and is beneficial to the firm. Employees are representatives of a firm and their
actions within the scope of the firm are received as the actions of the firm. To act within the scope of
employment, the employee must have the actual delegated authority to act or engage in a particular act
(Lype, 2000). It is assumed an employee who has delegated authority is acting within and representing
the firm. The firm can be therefore held liable for any criminal act committed by the

aspects of learning and three principles of memory. Not only does game itself provide pertinent
information (covers all the chapters assigned for the exam and will serve to help jog the memory of

aspects of learning include: positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, and observational

For an offense largely stuck in neutral and at times appearing uninspired early on it was a surprising
turn of events to say the least. In order to understand the Packers recent aerial resurgence you have to

not just the result of an improved bounce back campaign from the ex Kansas State Wildcat Nelson.
Understandably, he d been the subject of a wide range of speculation heading into training camp and
the regular season. To be expected for a player in his first year back from major reconstructive knee

surrounding such a comeback Nelson s been nothing short of spectacular to the tune of 97 receptions

I m ready! I m ready! I m ready! I m ready! These are one of the most popular words of the beloved
absorbent and yellow and porous sea creature, SpongeBob Squarepants. I must admit that although I
was not an indoors type of kid, the opening line of the show, Are you ready, kids? always drew me to
the living room like a magnet; even as a college freshman, I never bypass the television when my
favorite show, SpongeBob Squarepants, is on. I am not merely attracted to the show because of the
character s infectious humor but because of the numerous life lessons it has to offer; besides teaching
me a billion ways to be an annoying neighbor, SpongeBob has taught me innumerable life values of
overriding significance.
The most notable attitude of SpongeBob is his irrepressible and inextinguishable optimism. The
adorable yellow sponge seems to be oblivious to the dark side of everything and only sees the bright
and positive sides to things and everyone, including his pompous and grumpy neighbor, Squidward

sometimes the everlasting bond between the two. One of my favorite quotes from Patrick Star sums it

The United States And Cuba
After more than a half century of hostilities, the United States and Cuba have taken significant steps in
recent years to dramatically alter their relationship in the years ahead. Those efforts are controversial
to a number of Americans who oppose engaging the Cuban government.
Prior to the Spanish American War of 1898, Cuba was a Spanish colony with extensive commercial
relations with U.S. businesses, particularly with regard to the production of sugar. Following the U.S.
victory in the Spanish American War in 1898, Cuba, which is located just 90 miles off the coast of
Florida, became a U.S. territory and then gained its independence in 1902.
For more than 50 years following its independence, Cuba was governed by a succession of elected and
authoritarian leaders, culminating with rule of Fulgencio Batista, who seized power in a bloodless
coup in 1952. Batista ruled as a brutal dictator and was overthrown by resistance groups led by Fidel
Castro on January 1, 1959. Castro began his more than 45 years as Cuba s leader by promising
democratic rule, but he quickly began to stifle dissent often by imprisoning or executing opponents.
Relations between Castro and the U.S. deteriorated quickly in 1959 and 1960 as he courted the Soviet
Union, the U.S. s adversary in the Cold War, and began confiscating Cuban property owned by U.S.
corporations and citizens.
Due to increasing hostilities between the U.S. and Cuba, President Eisenhower severed diplomatic

Political organization in China
Dynasty rise and falls characterized China s ancient political organizations (Kissinger Henry 88). The
dynasty era began during the Xia dynasty in around 2100 1600 BC and ended when the Republic of
China government was formed in the year 1949. Their political organization was hereditary, hence the
name dynasty. This meant that when the king or the emperor died the succession for the throne would
occur in the same family line; mainly from father to son. There were some occasions, however, when
a non blood relative would assume the leadership positions. Nevertheless, this was in very rare
instances. This kind of political organization and ruling to some extent might have promoted unity of
the various kingdoms as per the time; although this was not always the case. There are some instances
when the country Kingdom split and later merged again through conquests and war.
The ancient China was characterized by many dynasties (Kissinger Henry 72). The Xia dynasty was
the first. The Shang dynasties succeed the Xia dynasty (1600 1046). Then there was the Zhou
Dynasty. It was followed by the

American Interest Groups
How do interest groups influence policy? Use examples to illustrate your answer.
Interest groups are no less a threat than they are an expression of freedom (Berry, 1984).
We start this essay with this famous quote from Berry introducing us to what exactly an interest group
is. Indeed in general, public opinion and people unaware of an interest group s actions might regard
interest groups in a negative light. The more famous interest groups can tend to generate a lot of
negative publicity. For instance, in the US one of the most famous interest groups is the National Rifle
Association, which defends the right to bear weapons. This, of course, has led to controversy
especially given the recent high school shootings in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But interest groups do not have a real place in congress. For them to affect motions in congress they
need to utilise their powers of persuasion to influence the right people.
So what characterises the force of an interest group? Let us examine quantity and quality. It is not so
much the number of members that makes an interest group influential, like many generally accepted
ideas, but more the quality of those members. To be influential, the members must be combative,
certainly rich, and must definitely occupy key offices in society. But the best interest groups should
have lot of members, as well as having rich and very active members.
If we look at history, particularly the nineteenth century, we can obviously say that bribing was one of
the most used tactics. It was the fastest way to have decisions approved, but nowadays, it is very
dangerous for interest groups to use any sort of sinister method. In general, the groups tend to abide by
the law to give legitimacy to their claims. Moreover, with the 1995 Reforms, the Lobbying Disclosure
Act allows congress to scrutinise the activities of interest groups and the interest groups must report
all the information relating to their activities in a very clear and concise manner. But we will see later,
that sometimes,

This helped civilization to become more sophisticated, more civilized, and more organized. This shift
from gathering berries and hunting wild animals to producing food by themselves was major because

He tells himself that his actions are not the same as those of the peasants, who acted only out of
malicious cruelty. His motives are quite different. Raskolnikov believes that he can use Alena
Ivanovna s money to help his mother and sister, who are extremely poor. Thus, he initially convinces
himself that he is willing to perform this act of violence in order to benefit his family.
This motivation is secondary to a darker one. Raskolnikov believes in Hegel s idea of the World
historical individual, one who commits extraordinary deeds which may be forbidden to the rest of
society but are permitted to an elite few. Hegel believed that the actions of these world historical
individuals had such a profound influence upon their societies that the criminal or violent nature of
their deeds was justified by the larger good they accomplished. Thus, Napoleon s military victories
cost thousands of men their lives, yet he was justified in disregarding these losses as the inevitable
costs of his rise to power, which he used to improve French society as a whole, instituting sweeping
reforms in religion, education , the judicial system, and other areas. Raskolnikov explains to Porfiry
later that those with new ideas to

Precolonial Native Americans
In the precolonial era, an individual s identity was deeply rooted in their religious beliefs, if not a
direct product thereof. For example, the Native Americans, though separate and distinct, generally
viewed their entire world as sacred and significant and thus treated it as such (Goff Harvey, 2004, p.
7). Conversely, precolonial Europeans saw sanctity much more limitedly than the Native Americans
and, with the official religion being Christianity, were heavily reliant on an institutionalized church
and its clergy to attain deliverance (Goff Harvey, 2004, p. 9). Like the Native Americans, many West
African tribes, which would soon be subjugated to the American slave trade, had commonalities amid
their various religious beliefs, mainly, that there was one supreme god and many secondary gods. This
theistic belief necessitated the worship of many deities in attempt to gain favor (Goff Harvey, 2004, p.
8). Though these precolonial people varied greatly, their identities were all deeply embedded in their

The Mathematical Concept of Infinity
The implications of infinity (co) are actualiy not that old. The Greeks were some of the first
mathematicians recorded to have imagined the concept of infinity. However, they did not actuaily
delve into the entirety of this number. The Greeks used the term potentially infinite, for the concept of
an actual limitless value was beyond their comprehension. The actual term infinity was defined by
Georg Cantor, a renowned German mathematician, in the late nineteenth century. It was originally
used in his Set Theory, which is a very important theory to the mathematical world. The value of
infinity can get a bit confusing, as there are different types of infinity. Many claim that infinity is not a
number. This is true, but it does have a value. So, infinity may be used in mathematical equations as
the greatest possible value. i The value of infinity Infinity (00) is the greatest possibleivalue that can

South Korea An Attractive Market For Australian Beef
Is South Korea an attractive market for Australian beef? This paper will examine the Australian beef
market, and whether it is an attractive market for South Korea to import from. An analysis of the
current Australian and South Korean beef industries; the conditions required to produce beef most
efficiently, following the Heckscher Ohlin Model; tariffs that are involved with these trades, and the
impact of the Korea Australia Free Trade Agreement; environmental implications to Australia; as well
as the cultural environment and geographic factor, will be discussed to determine whether South
Korea is an attractive market for Australian beef. Australia s primary exports lie in natural resources
and agricultural commodities (Siriwardana, 2015). The Australian beef industry is the sixth largest
exporter in the world where average beef exports from Australia are approximately 1.3 million tonnes,
amounting to approximately 65% of total beef production (Tozer and Marsh, 2012). In a global
context, Australia is the sixth largest beef producer and the second largest beef exporter, therefore it
would be most efficient for Australia to trade with other nations who produce and export beef less
effectively (Meat Livestock Australia, 2016). Following the Heckscher Ohlin Model, Australia is a
competitive market due to suitable conditions for beef manufacturing. Land is one such advantage.

The Effect Of Lying Had On Nervous System By Monitoring...
Introduction:
During this study we assessed the effect lying had on the autonomic nervous system by monitoring
galvanic skin response (GSR). We used GSR, a measure of the skin conductivity, as a very basic form
of polygraph test. The electronic conductivity of skin in not held constant. Instead, it changes based on
the current state of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS is comprised of the sympathetic
and parasympathetic nervous system (Gazzaniga and Heatherton, 2015). The sympathetic branch
causes increases in arousal. It controls responses such as pupil dilation, increased heart rate, and
decreased digestive activity that are normally associated with the fight or flight response (Gazzaniga
and Heatherton, 2015). The parasympathetic branch acts in opposition to the sympathetic nervous
system. It lowers arousal and returns the body to normal resting conditions. We believe that the act of
lying will cause the sympathetic nervous system to increase arousal resulting in higher skin
conductivity and therefore larger changes in GSR. As a result, we hypothesize that lying will cause a
larger mean change in GSR height then telling the truth.

Examples Of Figurative Language In The House Of Scorpion
The famous philosopher Plato once said, You can discover more about a person with an hour of play
than in a year of conversation. But dialogue and figurative language can help the reader understand
people, and their surroundings. An hour of play can t share their deepest secrets and their emotions to
bring your fate s together. In The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, the dialogue of her
characters and the descriptive language she uses helps show the mood and helps inference more about
the book. Nancy Farmer creates fascinating dialogue to introduce the mood and the characters. In the
book the author uses a lot of dialogue to move the story along and introduce feelings to the reader. An
example when Matt, the main character, and Matt s friend, see a man lying on the ground and say to
each other, Can t we can t we help him? faltered Matt. It s too late for that poor soul, grunted the

guilt for the reader of the man lying there and a little pleasure of knowing that the main character isn t
soulless. It helps add feelings and depth of the understanding of the reader when reading this dialogue.
Another example is when Celia, Matt s guardian is leaving for work, says, What s this? the woman
said. You re a big boy now, almost six. You know I have to work. ... Take me with you, begged Matt,
grabbing her shirt and wadding it up with his hands. Stop that. When the reader is reading the quote
they feel sympathy for Matt and a bit upset with Celia for being so strict for not taking him and being
so harsh. Finally, when Matt is being hunted down, his friend María is helping him, they say, What am
I supposed to do? Matt said. He felt drained of willpower. Stay here. I ll go throw the hysterical fit
everyone s expecting. When it gets dark, I ll come back for you. This quote helps bring more pleased
emotions to the reader about María and feel bad for Matt because he s in such a situation and María

The Importance Of Happiness
I believe that every human being deserves the chance to pursue happiness, regardless of their race,
gender, religion, or sexual orientation. We deserve the same chance because we are all born equal, but
just because we have the chance to pursue happiness it doesn t mean we are entitled to do whatever we
want. There are restrictions we should consider as we pursue happiness because we can t be going
around breaking the law or hurting people. I also think that we should allow ourselves to experience
more than just happiness, for example, anger, grief, fear, love and so on.
There are countries where the people are not allowed to express themselves, they are told what to do
and are treated like objects, and if they oppose it could lead to serious consequences such hard labor,
imprisonment, or even death. One of them being North Korea. We know how they treat the people in
North Korea, they aren t allowed to express themselves. I, fortunately, live in the United States. A
country where I am allowed to do whatever I want as long as I don t break the law. Here in America,
we all have the same opportunities to pursue happiness.
I think we should take in consideration the people around us when pursuing happiness, but at the same
time we shouldn t let it keep us from being happy. What guarantee us they aren t doing the same thing,
what if they are pursuing happiness and are making us less happy. One example I can think of is me, I

Inflammation
Inflammation is a rapid and complex reaction to an injurious agent that initiates a cascade of events
which lead to vascular responses, neutrophil recruitment and activation, and multiple systemic

low affinity, endothelial adhesive interactions can only occur in the presence of shear forces exerted

A critical function of inflammation is to deliver neutrophils to the site of insult so the initiation of
leukocyte activation can occur. The migration of neutrophils from the intravascular to extravascular

All integrins are composed of two linked polypeptide chains, α and β. The β2 integrins are called
CD11/CD18 where CD11 refers to the α chain and CD18 refers to the β2 subunit (Kumar et al, 2005).
CD11/CD18 play a primary roll in adhesion of leukocytes to other cells which mediates leukocyte
attachment and extravasation or transmigration.
Binding of signaling molecules to surface receptors on the leukocytes activates them and triggers
changes in the affinity of β2 integrins that are present on their plasma membranes. β2 integrins are
recognized by counterligands on the endothelial cells. Following engagement of integrins, leukocytes
tightly adheren using both integrins and selectins, become transiently arrested, undergo shape change,
and migrate from the blood to the extravascular inflammatory environment. To complete the process
of transmigration, neutrophils require chemoattractants to direct neutrophils to specific areas of
inflammation to eliminate the offending agent.
The importance of integrin mediated adhesion to neutrophil delivery and host defense is demonstrated
in patients with leukocyte adhesion deficiency type 1 (LAD 1). LAD syndromes result from the failure
of innate host defences that result in defective adhesion and targeting of leukocytes to sites of
microbial invasion. LAD 1 is an autosomal recessive immunodeficiency caused by mutations is the β2
integrin, CD18, which impairs CD11/CD18 surface expression. Absence of

Viva La Vida And The Count Of Monte Cristo
While each piece of literature is completely different, some of them have similar patterns and ideas.
One of these ideas would be human nature. Human nature is anything that is natural for a human to do
and can not be stopped easily. Things like greed and too much power can change someone greatly.
This can be the cause of many problems and can make someone who is a good person into a bad
person. In Viva La Vida and The Count of Monte Cristo, the writers use of allusions and metaphors
convey the idea that human nature can be the cause of misfortune.
The story of Viva La Vida, by Coldplay, is about a king who has too much power and ends up being
overthrown from people in his kingdom. Coldplay expresses this story in metaphors.
I used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This king had the key to the castle, meaning that he knew what the people wanted. The way Coldplay
explains this story makes it seem like the people living in the king s castle turned on him, hence the
reference to the walls closing in on himself. This king must have been hated for something he did,
then again, every human makes mistakes. Although, this must not have been the first time because he
lost his whole castle just from a mistake. Then he starts to realize why he was wrong. The downfall of
this king could have been from bragging about his power too much since it is human nature to brag.
Or possibly being overwhelmed with too much power giving his enemies a chance to attack. Another
metaphor with the same meaning can be found in The Count of Monte Cristo. The same thing that
happened to Brutus the night before the Battle of Philippi: I saw a ghost. And that ghost told me I have
lived long enough (Dumas 381). At this moment in the story, the count is preparing for his duel with
Albert. He then tells Maximilien that he plans on dying during the duel and leaving Maximilien his
will. Maximilien is shocked and asks the count why he would ever do such a thing. The count
responds with the above quote. This quote is a metaphor and shows how it is in a human s nature to
want to forget the people who you don t like. This quote uses the example of Mercedes since she was
the ghost that came to Dantes the night before the duel and begged him not to kill her son. Dantes
responds by saying that he can not live with the dishonor of backing away from a duel, so he agreed to
let Albert

Rhineland and the Netherlands.
At home the United States was still recovering from the Great Depression. Americans started to
convert car factories into airplane factories and gun factories. American industry produced 297,000

The Lord Is My Shepherd Reflection
Psalm 23 The Lord is my Shepard is the most popular and well known of all the psalms. King David
wrote this gospel towards the end of his life. The psalm speaks of God s care and protection.
According to Stewart, David wanted everyone to know that he knew and loved the lord with all his
heart. Jesus is a good shepherd and all who own him as their shepherd and Lord know the true
meaning of happiness and peace with God. (Stewart, 2006)
The psalm starts with a figure of speech, a metaphor, the Lord is my shepherd . Jesus is indeed the
Good Shepherd but according to Bratcher if we are to be serious about how to pray and read this
psalm we should first know the meaning of shepherd . [Bratcher, 2008] Thus, If one focus directly on
the provision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The eternal truth of the Lord s shepherding is when God is our shepherd we feel contented because he
knows all our needs and truly cares for us as a good shepherd cares for his sheep. This is evident in
verse two when it states He leads me . The good shepherd is always being the leader rather than the
follower, he leads while the sheep follow. For example, the shepherd first sees the water and found out
if the water is fit for the sheep. So when we say that God leads us, we are simply saying that God
moves ahead of us to discover what is best for us in life all we needed is to follow his command.
This beautiful psalm said slowly and with great devotion, makes one feel that these words are the
words of eternal life. For example in Verse three, He restores my soul . A good shepherd has a duty to
cherish his sheep and nurse and support them when they are contacted with diseases. David confirms
in this psalm that God treated him in this manner. Though every believer is under the umbrella of
Gods protection we are exposed to many dangers and afflictions of enemy. David, however, made it
clear that if any difficulty should befall him, he would bow upon the providence of

Frances Perkins Influence On Women
Frances Perkins was one of the most influential women of the twentieth century, yet she is not really a
house hold name. Perkins was named Secretary of Labor by Franklin Roosevelt in 1933. As the first
Female Cabinet secretary, she spearheaded the fight to improve the lives of American working people.
Perkin s ideas became the cornerstone of the most important social welfare legislation in the nation s
history, including unemployment compensation, child labor laws, the forty hour work week, and
Social Security. Born Fannie Coralie Perkins in Boston, Massachusetts in 1880, Frances Perkins came
from a respectable upper middle class republican family. By 1882, her parents Frederick and Susan
moved to Worcester, Massachusetts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On June 29, 1934, FDR issued an Executive Order creating a cabinet level Committee on Economic
Security to prepare legislation for Congress. He appointed Frances Perkins as its Chair. On January
15, 1935 the Committee on Economic Security presented its final report to President Roosevelt. Two
days later, FDR unveiled the Social Security program and sent it to Congress. On August 14th 1935,
the president signed the Social Security Act. Later that day, the Washington Post proclaimed that the
Social Security Act was the New Deal s Most Important Act...Its importance cannot be exaggerated
...because this legislation eventually will affect the lives of every man, woman, and child in the
country (fdlibrary.edu). This Act today has secured the economic status of many Americans, and
although it has been changed numerous of times, a change which FDR and Perkins knew was bound
to occur with passing years. Its change has only being to, Lawrence O Donnell, preserve the long term
solvency of Social Security as a self financing system. The program has being the setting stone of
other social programs such as Medicare.
Among other important programs that were added to the New Deal was another one which today is
being debated to be increased. This Act is none other than the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938,
another New deal initiative that was among her list

The Effect Of Nutritionist On Health Treatment Of Bn
The nutritionist s role in treatment of BN is to help develop a reasonableplan of controlled eating
while assessing the patient stolerance for structure.Immediate goals must beinterruption of the binge

already overweight. Attemptsat dietary exacerbatebinge purge behavior.Metabolic state must be
considered when prescribing thebaseline diet.Assessment ofclinical signs of ahypometabolic state, like
a low T3 level and cold intolerance, is useful in determining the caloric prescription. If a low
metabolismis suspected, a caloric prescription of 1600 to 1800calories daily is a reasonable startbut
this prescriptionshould be titrated upwards, in 100 to 200 calorie increments,to stimulate the metabolic
rate. Ultimately, a weightmaintenance diet of 2200 to 2400 kcal/day is attainable and welltolerated
(Halmi, 2005). Body weight should be monitored with a goal of stabilization;however, BN patients
need a great deal of encouragement to followweight maintenance versus weight loss diets. They must
bereminded that attempts to restrict caloric intake may only increasethe risk of binge eating.A
balanced macronutrient intake is essential for the provisionof a regular meal pattern. This should

The Fool In King Lear Essay
Authenticity of civility aside, words, no matter the motivation behind them, leave a lasting effect on
the people who read or hear them. King Lear stresses how words can be used to victimize people
behind a veneer of legitimacy. Regan, Goneril, and Edmund in the opening scenes use words as a tool
to fulfill their agendas when the three use kind words to disguise their objectives. In Act I, Scene I, the
sisters give Lear moving speeches to win over his love, but once he leaves their true personalities start
to surface when they do not show Cordelia any sympathy for her banishment (Shakespeare, 24). This
instance illustrates that even the most evil people can sound like a good person by choosing the right
words in a particular situation. While ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last words of Oswald the servant and the duke of Cornwall share similarities, despite the character
s different statuses. Cornwall orders for the servant who stabbed him to be thrown outside without a
proper burial, while Oswald asks to be buried. These speeches [refer] indirectly to the chthonic gods
who have dictated that the dead body must covered with earth (Cohen), illuminating how both men
view the gods in the midst of death. Oswald becomes god fearing after assisting Goneril s schemes,
while Cornwall thinks he can dictate who should get honored by the gods. Lear s utters more personal
dying words than Oswald and Cornwall: Do you see this? Look on her. Look, her lips. Look there,
look there (Shakespeare, 308), her referring to an imaginary Cordelia. Unlike the dramatic deaths of
Oswald and Cornwall, Lear dies subtly, so much that the people present mistake his death for fainting.
The emotional intensity of Lear s death resonates in Edgar as his reaffirms the theme of genuine words
when he recites the last speech of the play: Speak what we feel, not what we ought to say
(Shakespeare, 310). Shakespeare uses the last words of secondary characters to communicate his
themes of mortality, while he uses Lear s to show his emotional progression from the start of the

As emphasised by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, education is an inalienable right, and until it is proven that a student will not benefit from or is not stimulated by being in school, it must be assumed that they are gaining some value from the experience. Indoctrinated within Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework is the need for teachers to shift from primarily hosting students with additional educational needs, to extensively engaging them in a fruitful education. Under the principles of Universal Design for Learning, educators venture to create these meaningful learning experiences as a result of employing innovative educational mechanisms that ensure the participation of everyone. This essay aims to explore the invaluable effect of incorporating the elements of Universal Design for Learning within educational environments, with specific reference to the English curriculum. Understanding Universal Design and Universal Design for Learning Universal Design is an enduring and innovative design process that enables and empowers a diverse population by improving human performance, health and wellness, and social participation (Steinfeld Maisel, 2012). Hypothesis/Hypotheses Since the steady increase of students with chronic illnesses in public schools, there has been an increase in the roles and responsibilities of school nurses (Krause Parello amp; Kimika, 2010). This study looks to build upon other studies, but as well, it does look to prove this. Study Variables The independent variables in this study are the nurses. With the study design being non experimental, however, no manipulation takes place. The research is only being replicated exactly as it was and so we would not expect to see any dependent study variables (Burns amp; Grove, 2011). Conceptual Model/Theoretical Framework Betty Neuman s conceptual model of nursing is concerned with the person as a whole and stresses prevention. She brought us primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention (Nursing Theories, 2011). It is noted through the study of the health promotion/disease prevention activities that the schools of New Jersey are required to have a wellness plan and that the nurses agree to the importance of prevention of disease by early health screening (Krause Parello amp; Kimika, 2010). A refugee is someone who is outside his or her country of origin and is at risk of being persecuted if he or she returns . The Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees establishes the basic human rights to which refugees are entitled wherever they are (Dauvergne, 2012, p. 1445). Refugees are talked about and handled in certain ways within different discourses. Foucault s defines discourse as the rules and practices that produce meaningful statements about a topic at a particular historical moment. He argues that it constricts the topic . (Hall, 1997, p.44). This essay will analyse the representation of refugees through a political and media discourse. A political discourse on refugees is explored in Rocco Fazzari and Denis Carnahan s video Stop the Boats (with cash) Tony . The video highlights the political language for talking about refugees and the ways in which they are viewed by the Australian government. In comparison the media discourse will be examined through Nilufer Demir s (2015) photograph of a drowned Syrian child refugee. The image stresses the pivotal role the media plays in constructing and circulating meanings (Hightower, 2014, p.336). By analysing refugees through these two texts, an understanding of the different representation and meanings produced by separate discourses on the same topic can be developed. The Charter At Suffolk Speech And Hearing Center The covenant not to compete that Ms. Rice signed as a part of her employment contract at Suffolk Speech and Hearing Center ( Suffolk Speech ) is most likely going to be found enforceable. As found in Technical Aid Corp v. Allen, there is a three prong test to determine whether or not a restrictive covenant is reasonable and therefore enforceable. 591 A.2d 262, 265 66 (N.H. 1991). The first being, is the restriction greater than is necessary to protect the legitimate interests of the employer. Id. Secondly, does the restriction impose an undue hardship on the employee. For the purposes of this memo, only the first two elements will be analyzed as the third has already been found to be a non issue. Because the covenant that Ms. Rice signed at the start of her employment at Suffolk Speech was reasonable in that it protects Suffolk speech from competition in an appropriate surrounding area that does not pose an undue hardship, it will be very difficult for the court to deem the covenant unenforceable. The first issue that must go satisfied or unsatisfied is whether or not the restriction from the covenant not to compete was greater than necessary to protect to legitimate interests of Suffolk Speech. The Assassination Of Abraham Lincoln Essay Sic Semper Tyrannis or Thus always I bring death to tyrants were the famous words of Confederate actor John Wilkes Booth after he shot President Lincoln at Ford s Theatre. The assassination of Abraham Lincoln was a devastating event that will be forever remembered in the hearts of all American citizens. On April 20, 1999 in Littleton, Colorado, Booth s words became a part of another American tragedy; Columbine high school was the setting for arguably one of the most infamous school shootings in the history of America. Many advocates of these suits have come under the doctrine of respondeat superior (Lype, 2000)which lays liability on a firm if its employee commits an illegal act under employment and the criminal act was carried out to seek benefit. Hence, the admission of civil liability by a company for criminal acts of its employees is dependent on variable factors which should be considered before the firm can be deemed liable or not. Acting Within the Scope of Employment A company can be held liable if the criminal act committed was within the scope of employment and is beneficial to the firm. Employees are representatives of a firm and their actions within the scope of the firm are received as the actions of the firm. To act within the scope of employment, the employee must have the actual delegated authority to act or engage in a particular act (Lype, 2000). It is assumed an employee who has delegated authority is acting within and representing the firm. The firm can be therefore held liable for any criminal act committed by the ... Following the U.S. victory in the Spanish American War in 1898, Cuba, which is located just 90 miles off the coast of Florida, became a U.S. territory and then gained its independence in 1902. The Greeks were some of the first mathematicians recorded to have imagined the concept of infinity. However, they did not actuaily delve into the entirety of this number. The actual term infinity was defined by Georg Cantor, a renowned German mathematician, in the late nineteenth century. Introduction: During this study we assessed the effect lying had on the autonomic nervous system by monitoring galvanic skin response (GSR). We used GSR, a measure of the skin conductivity, as a very basic form of polygraph test. The electronic conductivity of skin in not held constant. Instead, it changes based on the current state of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS is comprised of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system (Gazzaniga and Heatherton, 2015). The sympathetic branch causes increases in arousal. It controls responses such as pupil dilation, increased heart rate, and decreased digestive activity that are normally associated with the fight or flight response (Gazzaniga and Heatherton, 2015). The parasympathetic branch acts in opposition to the sympathetic nervous system. It lowers arousal and returns the body to normal resting conditions. We believe that the act of lying will cause the sympathetic nervous system to increase arousal resulting in higher skin conductivity and therefore larger changes in GSR. As a result, we hypothesize that lying will cause a larger mean change in GSR height then telling the truth. We deserve the same chance because we are all born equal, but just because we have the chance to pursue happiness it doesn t mean we are entitled to do whatever we want. There are restrictions we should consider as we pursue happiness because we can t be going around breaking the law or hurting people. I also think that we should allow ourselves to experience more than just happiness, for example, anger, grief, fear, love and so on. There are countries where the people are not allowed to express themselves, they are told what to do and are treated like objects, and if they oppose it could lead to serious consequences such hard labor, imprisonment, or even death. Inflammation Inflammation is a rapid and complex reaction to an injurious agent that initiates a cascade of events which lead to vascular responses, neutrophil recruitment and activation, and multiple systemic reactions. The initiation of inflammation after an insult is exudation. Exudation is the localized hemodynamic changes that are critical to subsequent neutrophil emigration because selectin mediated, low affinity, endothelial adhesive interactions can only occur in the presence of shear forces exerted by hemoconcentration. A critical function of inflammation is to deliver neutrophils to the site of insult so the initiation of leukocyte activation can occur. The migration of neutrophils from the intravascular to extravascular space requires a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All integrins are composed of two linked polypeptide chains, α and β. The β2 integrins are called CD11/CD18 where CD11 refers to the α chain and CD18 refers to the β2 subunit (Kumar et al, 2005). CD11/CD18 play a primary roll in adhesion of leukocytes to other cells which mediates leukocyte attachment and extravasation or transmigration. Binding of signaling molecules to surface receptors on the leukocytes activates them and triggers changes in the affinity of β2 integrins that are present on their plasma membranes. β2 integrins are recognized by counterligands on the endothelial cells. Following engagement of integrins, leukocytes tightly adheren using both integrins and selectins, become transiently arrested, undergo shape change, and migrate from the blood to the extravascular inflammatory environment. To complete the process of transmigration, neutrophils require chemoattractants to direct neutrophils to specific areas of inflammation to eliminate the offending agent. The importance of integrin mediated adhesion to neutrophil delivery and host defense is demonstrated in patients with leukocyte adhesion deficiency type 1 (LAD 1). LAD syndromes result from the failure of innate host defences that result in defective adhesion and targeting of leukocytes to sites of microbial invasion. Human nature is anything that is natural for a human to do and can not be stopped easily. Things like greed and too much power can change someone greatly. This can be the cause of many problems and can make someone who is a good person into a bad person. In Viva La Vida and The Count of Monte Cristo, the writers use of allusions and metaphors convey the idea that human nature can be the cause of misfortune. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This king had the key to the castle, meaning that he knew what the people wanted. The way Coldplay explains this story makes it seem like the people living in the king s castle turned on him, hence the reference to the walls closing in on himself. Then he starts to realize why he was wrong. The downfall of this king could have been from bragging about his power too much since it is human nature to brag. Or possibly being overwhelmed with too much power giving his enemies a chance to attack. Another metaphor with the same meaning can be found in The Count of Monte Cristo. The same thing that happened to Brutus the night before the Battle of Philippi: I saw a ghost. And that ghost told me I have lived long enough (Dumas 381). Maximilien is shocked and asks the count why he would ever do such a thing. The count responds with the above quote. This quote is a metaphor and shows how it is in a human s nature to want to forget the people who you don t like. This quote uses the example of Mercedes since she was the ghost that came to Dantes the night before the duel and begged him not to kill her son. Dantes responds by saying that he can not live with the dishonor of backing away from a duel, so he agreed to let Albert ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. The Lord Is My Shepherd Reflection Psalm 23 The Lord is my Shepard is the most popular and well known of all the psalms. King David wrote this gospel towards the end of his life. The psalm speaks of God s care and protection. According to Stewart, David wanted everyone to know that he knew and loved the lord with all his heart. Jesus is a good shepherd and all who own him as their shepherd and Lord know the true meaning of happiness and peace with God. (Stewart, 2006) The psalm starts with a figure of speech, a metaphor, the Lord is my shepherd . Jesus is indeed the Good Shepherd but according to Bratcher if we are to be serious about how to pray and read this psalm we should first know the meaning of shepherd . [Bratcher, 2008] Thus, If one focus directly on the provision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The eternal truth of the Lord s shepherding is when God is our shepherd we feel contented because he knows all our needs and truly cares for us as a good shepherd cares for his sheep. This is evident in verse two when it states He leads me . The good shepherd is always being the leader rather than the follower, he leads while the sheep follow. For example, the shepherd first sees the water and found out if the water is fit for the sheep. So when we say that God leads us, we are simply saying that God moves ahead of us to discover what is best for us in life all we needed is to follow his command. This beautiful psalm said slowly and with great devotion, makes one feel that these words are the words of eternal life. For example in Verse three, He restores my soul . A good shepherd has a duty to cherish his sheep and nurse and support them when they are contacted with diseases. David confirms in this psalm that God treated him in this manner. Though every believer is under the umbrella of Gods protection we are exposed to many dangers and afflictions of enemy. David, however, made it clear that if any difficulty should befall him, he would bow upon the providence of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. The Fool In King Lear Essay Authenticity of civility aside, words, no matter the motivation behind them, leave a lasting effect on the people who read or hear them. King Lear stresses how words can be used to victimize people behind a veneer of legitimacy. Regan, Goneril, and Edmund in the opening scenes use words as a tool to fulfill their agendas when the three use kind words to disguise their objectives. In Act I, Scene I, the sisters give Lear moving speeches to win over his love, but once he leaves their true personalities start to surface when they do not show Cordelia any sympathy for her banishment (Shakespeare, 24). This instance illustrates that even the most evil people can sound like a good person by choosing the right words in a particular situation. While ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The last words of Oswald the servant and the duke of Cornwall share similarities, despite the character s different statuses. Cornwall orders for the servant who stabbed him to be thrown outside without a proper burial, while Oswald asks to be buried. These speeches [refer] indirectly to the chthonic gods who have dictated that the dead body must covered with earth (Cohen), illuminating how both men view the gods in the midst of death. Oswald becomes god fearing after assisting Goneril s schemes, while Cornwall thinks he can dictate who should get honored by the gods. Lear s utters more personal dying words than Oswald and Cornwall: Do you see this? Look on her. Look, her lips. Look there, look there (Shakespeare, 308), her referring to an imaginary Cordelia. Unlike the dramatic deaths of Oswald and Cornwall, Lear dies subtly, so much that the people present mistake his death for fainting. The emotional intensity of Lear s death resonates in Edgar as his reaffirms the theme of genuine words when he recites the last speech of the play: Speak what we feel, not what we ought to say (Shakespeare, 310). Shakespeare uses the last words of secondary characters to communicate his themes of mortality, while he uses Lear s to show his emotional progression from the start of the ...
