The Harmony Of The Gospels Essay
Harmony of the Gospels The first four books of the New Testament, collectively referred to as The
Gospels, are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Defined, gospel means good news (BD, 682). Together,
these gospels written by distinctly different authors, each with a different perspective, offer marvelous
insight into the life and ministry of the Savior and Redeemer, Jesus the Christ. Through their
similarities and differences, they provide a beautiful testimony of his teachings and works to provide a
dynamic and living picture of who Jesus is: a King, Christ in action, a human, and as the light and life
of the world. Each author is striving to bring the good news of who the Son of God is and his amazing
and infinite Atonement, to all mankind.
Matthew
The first book of the New Testament is Matthew. Matthew was known before his conversion as Levi
(BD, 729), and lived in Capernaum which is located on the Northern Shore of the Sea of Galilee (The
Holy Land in New Testament Times, Map 11). He was Jewish publican, or tax gatherer, which was
possibly one of the most hated positions of that time. During Christ s ministry, Matthew was called to
be one of the Twelve Apostles, named in Matthew 10:3. In his writings, Matthew emphasizes that
Jesus is in fact that very Messiah that had been prophesied in the Old Testament, by citing the words
of Isaiah, Micah, and Jeremiah (Class Lecture, September 19). He sought to show the Jews that Jesus
is the King of kings, the promised Messiah (BD,

Jealousy In Disney s Panopticism
Disney s Panopticon When looking through the eye of Foucault s Panopticism, it becomes clear that
Disney s Cinderella is not only a story of a mistreated stepdaughter who marries her prince but also an
allegory for an attempt to regulate women s actions in society. Foucault described a prison in which a
tower was placed in the middle and from which the guards were capable of viewing all of the cells
concurrently. The prisoners, not knowing whether or not they were being watched, adjusted their
behavior to fit the standards that the guards had set. The reason for this adjustment was to avoid being
punished if a guard happened to have been looking in their direction. Cinderella regulates women s
demeanor in much the same way by teaching girls, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this depiction of Cinderella, every eligible maiden in the kingdom wanted to marry the Prince, so it
is only logical to believe that all of the women without a husband should have wanted to marry the
prince. That is the conclusion that can be drawn from Cinderella. It is this exact conclusion that drives
the women of our society to be constantly looking for their prince from as early as they can remember.
Through the use of colorful advertising and constant advertisements, Disney has created a world
where masses of little girls want to grow up to become princesses. If a girl does not want to look for
her prince, but instead wants to focus on her work or school or something totally different, she is seen
as a social pariah and people will wonder what is wrong with her. An overarching shadow will be
placed over these girls by others because they were all raised on the Cinderella idea that every girl
should be looking to marry their prince. This is because society acts as an overarching panopticon
over women to make sure that they are always looking for their prince instead of focusing on what is
important to them. By creating turning many women into social outcasts, society is able keep many
girls from trying to do anything more than being a

Monkey Bars Research Paper
Have you ever broken a bone before? Well, I have I ll tell you, you don t want to break a bone in your
body. One thing I don t want to do again is to get on the monkey bars. I was only in the 2nd grade
when I first broke a bone in my body. I was outside at school, it was recess time, around 2 pm or 2:30
pm. It was my friends and me racing to see who could get across the monkey bars the fastest. Then I
said, it s my turn, let me go! I started by skipping on to the third bar and skipping every other one to
get past. Midway through something got in my eye. I let one of my arms go to wipe my eye out, then

Team Working and Personality Type
A team is made up of different kinds of people; some people behave as team workers to help and
support other members, while some people work as an individual to solve problems. In order to make
the most effective outcomes, it is important to understand which type of team members you are.
Belbin suggested that every team members are unique in nine different characteristics and categorized
it into three groups: Action Oriented, People Oriented, and Thought Oriented (Belbin 1993, 2014)
(See Appendix D). However, the questionnaire test assessed only eight team roles by exempt
Specialist team role from questionnaire. The result from Belbin s Team Role Testing showed that I am
act as Co coordinator in the team (See Figure3 and Table 1). According to Belbin (1993), Co
coordinators are mature, trusting and confident, they are quick to spot individual talents and to use
them to pursue group objectives, and they have a broad and worldly outlook. Nonetheless, the key to
work in a team is to have correct balance of skill and behavior to support and drive each other to
connect with a common goal.

The Negative Effects Of Bilingualism In Education
In a country such as Canada, having two official languages makes it nearly impossible to avoid the
topic of bilingualism. Anyone who grew up through education system in Ontario likely has strong
opinions about the value of being able to speak both English and French fluently. Those opinions may
be strengthened further once a resident is faced with the challenge of deciding which educational
stream to apply their children to. Immigrant families have it more difficult in that their children are
already learning their native language and English when they arrive, and then they may be required
start learning French as well. Along with these social implications of bilingual learning, there are also
psychological issues that come up. There are helpful effects and some that are not so helpful that result
from trying to learn two languages, this paper serves as a means to display both the benefits and the
drawbacks related to bilingualism and the bilingual learning process.
Learning more than one language at once constantly requires that the learner be incredibly adaptable
and responsive. This means that their executive control system is much more stimulated while
learning than that of their fellow students who participate in a monolingual program. If this is indeed
the case, it could also be that this more active system is strengthened, giving a student in such a
program an advantage over other students (Bialystok, 2008). If implemented properly, many of the
negative effects of

Life Coaching Process Analysis
The goal setting phase of a Life Coaching session is crucial as it determines how one acquires the
change and sought out success from the coach. After establishing that change is necessary and doable,
the next step is the formation of a realistic plan with attainable goals. Author Gary R. Collins (2009)
delineates, Attainable goals are specific rather than vague. They persist longer if there can be
consistent and accurate feedback on one s progress (p. 63). The Life Coach ascertains from the client
problem areas, challenges, and obstacles that the client and Life Coach perceive and cognize as
hindrances to augmentation and rectification. Moreover, one incorporation to the course of action to
consider in the goal settings is baby steps . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, encouraging and explaining to the client that change comes in increments and is a
tedious process full of rewards and benefits, but be kind to oneself if there are setbacks. Reviewing
and determining the triggers and circumstances surrounding the setbacks are opportunities to further
the achievement. Obstacles depend on the individual and their goals, three possible barriers are fear,
negative mindset and impatience. To overcome the hindrance of fear and negative mindset the same
principle applies. Collins (2009) asserts, Pray read Philippians 4:6 7, talk openly to a friend, challenge
defeating self talk, build a positive attitude, take small steps and notice what happens, and stop
imaging the worst case possibilities (p. 226). Moreover, with impatience Collins suggest, demonstrate
patience and show small evidences of progress (p. 227). The Life Coach recognizes there is a war that
exist in everyone s mind at some point in life. However, God is in victorious battle and calms any
storm and defeated the enemy on our behalf, the Life Coach knows this is a fixed fight. As a Christian
Coach, we are to explain that we are all victorious in Christ and encourage our clients, brothers and
sisters, not to give into a habit, defeat, and negative thinking. Furthermore, they are more than
conquerors. The fight of victory and faith is not easily resolved, but through prayer and life changes

Film Analysis Of The Silent Film Change
Sometimes we fail to realize the impact we have on the lives of strangers. Something as small as spare
change has the power to impact the way a strangers entire day turns out. The silent film, Change ,
starts with an overhead extreme close up of an unseen stranger s hand shaking spare change, walking
down a city block. The shot follows them walking down the street, following their point of view until
they come to a complete stop at an can on the ground with a few coins and crumpled dollar bills in it
and looks around it to see original works of art on display. The unseen stranger looks up to see a
young black woman dressed in slightly tattered and old clothing. She sits behind the art display,
silently working on another work of art as people glance at her and keep walking. The unseen stranger
stops jingling the change in his hand for a beat before putting the rest of his change in the can in front
of the artist. The artist hears the jingling of the change in her can and looks up from her art with a soft
smile and light eyes. The two strangers share a comfortable silence, gratitude in the artist s eyes before
the camera turns to reveal the stranger s face and goes close on the warmth of his eyes. The stranger
smiles and walks away. The camera stays with the artist.
The artist picks up her display and we follow her walking down the concrete street until she comes to
a stop at an independent magazine branch store. The artist walks in the office but the camera stops just

Jean Piaget And His Theory On Cognitive Development
Jean Piaget and His Theory on Cognitive Development Jean Piaget is one of the most influential
theorists in cognitive development and he argues that children pass through the same sequence of
stages when it comes to this developmental domain. This paper will begin with a general overview of
Jean Piaget s beliefs when it comes to children s cognitive development and the basics of his four
stages. Next, an in depth look will be taken at each of the stages followed by defining the Piagetian
ideas of adapting in the world through assimilation, accommodation, and disequilibrium that may
results. These ideas will be accompanied by examples and significance to the classroom. I will
conclude with a summary of all the points previously discussed. As introduced, the distinguished
Swiss psychologist, Jean Piaget, is one of the most influential theorists in cognitive development.
Author Barry J. Wadsworth (1996) wrote about Piaget s vast contributions to the understanding of
children s intellectual development and though his initial interest was in biology, the idea that the
development of children s intelligence could be studied experimentally by examining their thinking
and reasoning peaked his research interest into this field (p.6). Throughout his research, Piaget was
more interested in the qualitative, not quantitative, characteristics of development. He was concerned
with how a child came to understand the knowledge and material, not with how much the child knew

The Relationship Between Photography And Traveling
Although the relationship between travel and photographing can be traced back in the distant past, the
practice of recording experiences in pictures has become especially popular after the Great War. In
England from the 1920 s to the 1940 s tourism in the countryside grew dramatically, at the same time
cameras were made available to the average household. Individuals lost their dependency from
professional artists and photographers, and got the power to photograph a scene according to their
perception (Taylor, 1994). With the continuous expansion of urban centres the appeal of rural,
undiscovered and unvisited places grew side by side. In a world where changes were too fast to
comprehend, people sought refuge in the past and saw the camera as a way to capture the past and
take it home with them. Not much has changed since that time. These days people from different
social strata still seek for untouched places and authentic experiences, where they can feel themselves
to be in touch both with a real world and with their real selves (Handler Saxton, 1988, p. 243), and
photographs are believed to have the capability to capture the spirit of the place and to reproduce what
was seen or experienced (Robinson Picard, 2009).
Even though photographs are often described as mere representations of reality (Baudrillard, 1994;
Edwards, 2003; Robinson Picard, 2009), the practice of photographing has become an essential part of
the tourist experience. Sontag (1979, p. 9), for

Analysis Of Death Of The Moth By Virginia Woolf
In The Death of The Moth by Virginia Woolf, we have a story about a moth that flies during the day
that eventually dies by the end of our story. The story of how the moth tries to beat death by always
moving and showing that he has life is one that is fought by all creatures. The way his wings are
yellow and the way they mix with the sun to show he is a day moth instead of a moth that we
commonly see at night is connected to how we ourselves dress ourselves as people that signify who
we are. The moth is pointed out to be a day moth instead of a night moth. The moth is depicted as
somewhere between a butterfly and a normal moth. Virginia Woolf makes an excellent story about
people and moths. In The Death of the Moth we see this who is fluttering outside the narrator s
window. We see how the moth, like everything else in the world, is soaking up the sun, which is also
heating its little body with life. The moth in this story is like every other living thing on the planet
earth. The moth wants to live and not die. This does not become apparent until later in the story. When
we see the moth finally land, and we understand that this is his last struggle against death. A way of
telling death that it could beat death. The moth struggles for what seems to be about a minute. The
moth eventually dies on the window sill and death finally beats down its victim. This represents how
many of people see someone on the street going about their everyday business, and nothing seems to

Updike, the writer utilizes his narrative to symbolize different themes i.e. generation crevice, choices

of diverse eras or prompting an absence of comprehension. Updike wrote this story to demonstrate the
generation gap and individual choices. Individual choice is referring to freedom of choice for instance:

since I didn t really have a lot of knowledge as to who discovered DNA besides what the biology book

people that were it was almost like a race to see who could discovered it first. Through the book one

Watson and Crick were able to work great as a team because they both had something to contribute to
the discovery of DNA. Crick did a lot of the mathematical work and was normally found in the lab
first before Watson. On the other hand Watson did a lot of the research, he would often go to different
conferences to hear any new discoveries concerning DNA in order to stay on top of their game. After
each conference Watson would report his findings to Crick and use that in their advantage. This is one
of the things that made them extremely successful were as Rosalind and Maurice would share their
ideas and accepted any criticisms and opinion. For example we are able to see how much Watson
values Francis opinions when he says Another fifteen minutes fiddling by Francis failed to find
anything wrong, though for brief intervals my stomach felt uneasy when i saw him frowning. In each
case he became satisfied and moved on to verify that interatomic contact was reasonable (pg 406). In

Review Of The Movie Contemporary Japanese Cinema
In contemporary Japanese cinema, a common theme that is portrayed is that of the failing family.
Films with this theme show families that do not fit the ideal family image and are instead riddled with
issues and problems that conflict that prevent the families from being whole and can lead to the
separation and breakage of them. One film that has aspects of the failing family theme is Ringu (1998)
directed by Hideo Nakata; a film about a tape that curses and kills the viewer in seven days after
watching which prompts the lead character, Reiko Asakawa, to stop the curse. The failing family
theme is expressed through two different families, Reiko s family and Sadako s family, which both
show, in different ways, the failings of their respective families and what those themes convey in their
depiction. These families show together how the failings and problems they have impact the family
members in negative ways.
Reiko s family is one example of the failing family theme in Ringu. Reiko is a single mother, divorced
from her ex husband Ryuji, who lives with her son Yoichi on their own. She is independent, and able
to financially provide for the both of them as a journalist. This separates her from the traditional
domestic Japanese woman ideal as she lives independently from any patriarchal figure (Wee, p. 157).
However, the film implies that Reiko is not home as often as she should as she mentions to Ryuji that
Yoichi is fine on his own because he is used to it (Nakata, 1998).

Essay Comparing The Devil And Tom Walker
The Devil and Tom Walker and the The Devil and Daniel Webster have many differences along with
several similarities. A few examples would be the different depiction of the Devil and the similarities
of the role of religion. Some points may be larger than others, but one can see the relationship between
both of the books in many different aspects of he was dressed in a rude, half Indian garb, and had a red
belt or sash swathed round his body, but his face was neither black nor copper color, but swarthy and
dingy and begrimed with soot, as if he had been accustomed to toil among fires and forges. (Irving, p.
2 3)
The first difference between the short stories are their very own different depiction of the Devil. In
The Devil and Tom Walker, the devil is portrayed as a that confronts Tom about the deal that he can go
through to abolish his mediocre life. On the contrary, the Devil in The Devil in Daniel Webster was a

outcome. The ending of this story ends with a court appearance of Jabez Stone in his own house to see

University of Phoenix
Abstract
This leadership development plan (LDP) is tailored for its author and is not a research paper in the
traditional sense. The author begins with his personal framework for leadership. Included are the
results of several leadership assessment tools, information from coaching, and personal feedback, and
insights into the author s goals for career and leadership development. The report concludes with
thoughts on future development, and evaluating the progress of personal development.
Keywords: development plan, transformational leadership, behaviors, practices, learning process.

Consequently this LDP assumes allocation of time, effort, money, and my best ability to learn from
my failures.
Self Assessment
Ivan F. Rodriguez September 2012: Use of Power: Expert and referent, Leadership Style: Concern for
task, Team Skills: 90, Conflict handling Style: Competing. My contribution to the teams I lead is very
restrictive and task focused. This helps ensure team member s work is of the quality required, and
complete on time. I tend to work to ensure everyone knows their position and what they need to do to
complete tasks. My expert leadership approach brings my background experiences into the task at
hand, and help my team members learn and grow. I tend to not be overbearing in the information
presented but instead fill in when needed to give guidance to finish the task. I work closely with team
members to get information to all involved. If conflicts arise, I will push to get the conflict eliminated
through overpowering the situation with expert knowledge and experience.
I have interest and determination in building relationships, working leadership from the individual and
interpersonal level. I have little patience with individuals who are uncooperative or who create more
work for the rest of us. I have excellent communication skills that will help me to foster my LDP.
Although my emotional intelligence has improved over the years, my LDP considers the need to
continue enhancing

John Wilkes Booth s Motives
A Look Inside the Motives of John Wilkes Booth On the fateful night of April 14, 1865, President
Abraham Lincoln attended a special performance of the comedy, Our American Cousin, accompanied
by his wife, Mary Todd, Major Henry Rathbone, and Rathbone s fiancee, Clara Harris. Little did he
know that a figure, armed with a drawn pistol, would step into his presidential box and fatally wound
him to appease the appetite for vengeance shared by many Confederate sympathizers. Yelling Sic
semper tyrannis, the figure scrambled to safety in the dark of the night after tasting the short lived
sweet taste of revenge, while his accomplice ran for his life after a failed assassination attempt of
Secretary William Seward. This assassin had embarked on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

a name for himself as an antislavery and anti Union supporter and making himself be seen at and
witness the anti Union protests and events that were going on. He wanted to make it apparent, as he
told his sister Asia, that his soul, life, and possessions are for the South, and gain a formidable amount

Obligation In Disney s The Little Mermaid
I want to be where the people are. I wanna see, wanna see them dancing . Ariel from Disney s The
Little Mermaid embodies a girl that is stuck in a world that she does not wish to be in. She wants to
get out of her home, the ocean, and be able to experience the outside world and all of the opportunities
that come with it. Ariel is trapped by her father and that fact that she has a mermaid tail instead of
legs. Many people often have similar experiences where they feel stuck in a situation, meeting, or
class. He or she may sing to themselves that same thing that Ariel vocalizes. The obstacles that
prevent these people from leaving vary from expectations, money, and responsibilities. In A Rose for

They blame much of Emily s failure to change on their knowledge of her crazed behavior. They
describe how her great aunt had gone completely crazy at last (137). Her great aunt s descent into
madness near the end of her life solidifies in the town members minds the idea that Emily s state of
mind was an unavoidable result of genetics. The townspeople assume that Emily will no longer be
able to change because she is becoming just as crazy as her great aunt had been before she passed
away. This mental obstacle that Emily is facing is foreign to the town members, so they avoid helping
as they believe that she cannot change. Emily s countless instances of stubbornness lead the
townspeople to conclude that she is beyond their help. This negatively impacts Emily as they do not
attempt to aid her as she slips into madness. The town members talk of Emily and her life as they
describe the insanity of the family (137). Because they have seen craziness in Emily s past, they
assume that she is doomed to the same things and that she cannot change because the small amount of

Afghanistan War Essay
In 2001 the Twin Towers were destroyed by two planes and also there were two other planes one was
supposed to hit the White House and the other the Pentagon. This started the war in Afghanistan. It s
been eight years since this incident, and the United States and President Obama still want to keep this
war going. Next year they are going to send 30,000 troops to Afghanistan and Iraq. There are three
reasons why they shouldn t send them: one for their safety; two Afghanistan should keep their
business to themselves; and three it s going to affect the economy big time. First of all President
Obama is going to send 30,000 troops to Afghanistan next year. My first reason on why he shouldn t is
because of their safety, like for example people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
See this isn t our problem yet because they are planning but they haven t done it yet. So the United
States military should just get prepared and stop this war. Because is this all necessary to really to
keep this war going, it s been eight years really they should just don t send the troops. Ok also before
the twin towers were destroyed, Afghanistan had more problems with their neighbor they were going
to get in a war and that s when the United States got involved and tried to stop that war from
happening. Like they shouldn t have gotten involved because probably when they destroyed the Twins
Towers was because they were nosy and got involved on what was not any of their business. So yea
they really shouldn t gotten into that problem because now we, the United States, are the ones who are
suffering from all this. Many would argue that the story of how 9/11 came about goes back, at least, to
1979 when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan, with which it shares a border. Afghanistan had
experienced several problems since 1973, when the Afghanistan monarchy was overthrown by Daud
Khan, who was sympathetic to Soviet overtures. An unsuspected attack reflected struggles within
Afghanistan among factions with different ideas about how Afghanistan should be governed and
whether it should be communist, and with the problems with the Soviet Union. The Soviets intervened
following the overthrow of a pro communist leader. In late December 1979, after several months

Morning After Pill
There is a pill becoming readily available that would aid in reducing the amount of unwanted
pregnancies. It is the morning after pill as it is being called. This pill can be used during the first three
days after unprotected sexual intercourse to prevent the fertilization of an egg or the attachment of a
fertilized egg to a woman s uterus. The question is not necessarily in the ethical issue of the pill itself.
The problem or question lies in the issue of the pill being sold with or without a prescription. The
measure would allow girls and women to obtain this medication, without a physician s visit or
prescription and without parental consent regardless of the patient s age.
For those who believe that every fertilized egg is a human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only for the individuals trying to purchase the pill but also for pharmacists. There is a spillover
effect to also consider; how the medication will be sold. Will it be put next to over the counter drugs
or condoms? Or would it be sold only behind the counter, meaning the pharmacist still must hand then
over even though no do prescription is required? These are questions that need to be considered before
making a decision.
In Summary, the pill remedies the chance of ineffectiveness of methods of contraception like birth
control and condoms without invasive surgery. The pill has the potential to reduce the number of
surgical abortions and undesired pregnancies in the United States considerably, especially if it is
provided over the counter. The pill is radically more effective the sooner one takes it after intercourse
and the great advantage of making it available over the counter as opposed to by prescription only, is
that it would give a larger number of women faster and more access to it. Fortunately, for the women
of America, the FDA has recommended making the morning after pill available over the counter in the
United States as it is in other

James Baldwin’s Critique of the Social Condition Essay
James Baldwin s Critique of the Social Condition James Baldwin was an African American writer
who, through his own personal experiences and life, addressed issues such as race, sexuality, and the
American identity. Notes of a Native Son is one of many essays that Baldwin wrote during his
lifetime. Within this essay, Baldwin talks about when his father died and the events that revolved
around it. His father s death occurs in the early 1940s, where oppression and racism were still fairly
prevalent in many cities across the nation. So amidst the events that revolve around Baldwin s father s
death, there are many riots and beatings taking place. This essay is simply not a recollection of what
Baldwin experienced in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Immediately after the sentence, Baldwin describes the racial tension that exists between the African
Americans and the Whites. The people of Harlem as well as other cities are waiting for that one
injustice or catalyst that will push their tolerance over the top and lead them to violently fight back
through riot and protest. In one sentence, Baldwin manages to switch gears, from one that is very
private to a description of the general feeling felt among the people living in Harlem. Baldwin, being a
part of the community, takes his own feelings of waiting and applies it to a general picture, where a lot
of people were in fact waiting as well. Baldwin continues on and says that blacks were being
oppressed everywhere. ...Negro girls who set upon a white girl in the subway because...she was
stepping on their toes. Indeed she was, all over the nation (73). Not only does this portray the ever
growing tension felt among African Americans in a certain area, it expresses the tension felt across the
nation. African Americans everywhere were still continuously looked down upon, causing agitation,
which was the current social condition blacks and whites faced. Soon after, the catalyst that ignites
riots in Harlem, which was foreshadowed earlier in the essay, takes place. The riots begins when a
rumor spread claiming that a white police officer shot a black soldier in the back, which wasn t the
truth at all (81). The way

Speech On Animal Exploitation
Exploitation is explained as the act of using resources or treating people unfairly in
order to benefit from their effort or labour. Exploitation has been a big issue discussed among
all countries in the world because it can be occured everywhere and fiercely trap everybody
without exception. There are some kinds of exploitation, e.g. human exploitation known as
human trafficking and animal exploitation which has been the cause of population reduction
and extinction for some species. Between those exploitations, human exploitation or human
trafficking is the most prominent case viewed by the media. However, animal exploitation is
an issue which needs quick responses and fast solutions due to its impact. In some countries,

Thus, animals are not going to utter
words when someone or something hurts them, they will use their body language or sound
instead. As a wise human, we have to be able to distinguish how to treat sentient and non

The second reason is that animal exploitation is considered immoral. Why is it
considered immoral? They are just animals! It is right, they are just animals. However, the
exploitation is against the constitution number 15 year 1990 about the conservation of
biological natural resources and its ecosystem because in exploiting animals the action of
torturing and hurting them are involved there. There are so many exploitation cases involving
animals occurred in Indonesia and other countries in the world. The following cases are some
of them:
 During the 1990s, the number of African elephants was decreasing from 5 10
million to 600.000 due to ivory trading. For this reason, the African elephants
were added to the list of critically endangered species by the UN CITES

The Impact Of Media On Sports
For the past years the media have had a big effect on society. Many people rely on the media for news
or sports coverage, but they don t realize that the media may influence people s beliefs or way of
behaving. The media cover sports in order to provide information to the fans, but they also can create
fake news to spark controversy in sports. The world of sports is largely affected by the media as they
are a big topic to talk about throughout all kinds of media. Although the media can provide
information about sports to fans, it can also create positive and negative conditions for the athletes.
The media s portrayal of sports creates rivalries between teams and players which increases
competitiveness, damages professional relationships, and lowers morals which affects the player s
motivation and skill.
When the media begins to make comparisons between athletes and sports teams the competitiveness
between them increases. If athletes begin to notice that they are being compared to another athlete,
they may become motivated to work harder in order to outdo their opponent. For instance, Cristiano
Ronaldo, professional soccer player, is constantly being compared with his arch rival Lionel Messi.
These two men are considered the best soccer players in the world, but they play for rival teams. Their
teams are also considered the two best soccer teams in the world which is the main reason that they
are always being compared. When Cristiano was asked about his rivalry with Messi, he stated that the
rivalry that the media created, motivates him to push himself harder in order to surpass Messi.
Cristiano s goal has always been to become the best and this rivalry gives him an even bigger push to
train harder. The rivalry created by the media have benefited both the players and the fans as they both
have become motivated to play better and the fans get their share as they get to witness a great match
between these two amazing players.
Although the media can create healthy rivalries between players, it can also create harmful ones. What
may start as a simple friendly rivalry, can become a serious and problematic issue in sports.
Sometimes a rivalry can become intensely heated and it may become violent. In the sport

The Yellow Wallpaper Research Paper
A tale of Two Ghosts: The Yellow Wallpaper and the Things they Carried
When people think of normal ghost stories they think of stories told around the campfire. Like a ghost
of a one handed axe murder that kills kids that venture out into the woods, or the ghost of a kid who
drowned in the lake and seeks vengeance on every camper that comes there. Many people don t
associate ghost stories with tales like Macbeth and Hamlet by Shakespeare. Or other works of
literature like the Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and the Things they Carried by Tim
O Brien. Both tales are great examples of a unconventional ghost story not normally told around the
campfire, because of the hidden underlying ghost .

Making the room seem more prisonlike then homely. It is within that room that the reader is first
introduced to the ghost . As time goes on the narrator begins to see a woman behind this ghastly
yellow wallpaper that she is forced to look at every day. We are introduced to this wallpaper as a
woman that is stooping down and creeping behind that pattern (Gilman 72). As the story progresses
the narrator begins to see the woman more and more clearly behind this yellow wallpaper. The outside
pattern I mean, and the woman behind it is as plain as can be (73). The longer the story goes the more
the reader begins to understand who the woman is. Behind the Yellow Wallpaper lie our narrator and
her thoughts and emotions. Like the woman she sees behind the yellow wallpaper she feels trapped
without a way out. And the ghost is what she sees within herself. Both are being kept inside during the
daytime while they want to be outside being active. As we progress the woman behind the wallpaper
shakes and moves more agitated, as the narrator herself becomes more agitated and trying to break
free in a sense. What the reader comes to understand within the story is that the narrator isn t trying to
break out of the room, but rather break out of the submissive relationship she has with her husband.
And the ghost behind the wallpaper represents

European Union Foreign Policy
Enlargement of the European Union (EU) is a contentious issue for the public and scholars alike due
to its novelty, even garnering the phrase sui generis. There are many legitimate reasons for opposing
enlargement, including: loss of sovereignty and autonomy, diverting efforts and resources from
deepening integration between member states, and the stress being put on the institutions and
economies of member states by countries with unfair trade, rampant corruption, and territorial and
ethnic disputes. Regardless of the validity of these criticisms, in terms of effectiveness, enlargement
proves the most powerful foreign policy tool of the European Union. I will contend this by focusing
on the different foreign policy tools available to states and multi state coalitions like the EU:
diplomacy, foreign aid, and military force. Through this examination of available foreign policy tools,
I will contend that enlargement combines these tools resulting in a finished product that is greater than
the sum of its parts.
The EU s foreign policy options include diplomacy, foreign aid, and military force. In terms of
diplomacy, the EU affords itself many advantages through its multilateral decision making. These
advantages allow the EU to use what Ernest J. Wilson III calls smart power, the leadership of the
(PRC), has deployed power resources strategically. The individual policy choices made have reflected
a sophisticated analysis of the world as it is; and they have deployed a balanced,

THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON OF 1666
THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON OF 1666 The Great Fire of London of 1666 that was started by
Thomas Farrinor s bakery caused the destruction of 80 percent of London and led to the creation of
insurance and firefighting companies. The fire marked a time of rebirth for the British capital since the
city had to rebuild entirely. The fire was quite an interesting event owing the fact that it caused such an
extreme amount of destruction and took the lives of only six people. Londoners remember the
seventeenth century as a time of desolation, but the events that occurred have impacted the world
today. With the creation of insurance and firefighting, not only are people protected, but their property

Farrinor immediately ran upstairs and when he reached the top, he saw flames, but the flames were not
near his ovens, or even close to a pile of wood near the ovens (Shields 80 81). The family then
searched for an escape route out of the house (Alagna 4). Unable to exit downstairs due to a blocked
path, the Farrinor family fled to the roof. The family begged their maid to follow them but she was
more afraid of heights than the fire. She stayed in the house and was the first person to die in the Great
Fire. The family, however, continued across rooftops until they were safe from the fire (Shields 81).
Subsequently, the flames were halfway across London Bridge soon after the fire was started. Two
groups of buildings, separated by a clearance, sat on London Bridge (Alagna 19). Pieces of the
burning buildings fell into the river causing the water to turn into smoke and steam (Hanson 53). The
sights and sounds of the London Bridge burning and falling in the water, created a dark perception for
onlookers. The previously mentioned clearance in the London Bridge was a successful firebreak in an
earlier fire, and it was successful again in the Great Fire. London was lucky that only one third of
London Bridge burned (Alagna 19). Furthermore, the fire continued to spread rapidly. Huge pieces of
wood fell, burning and blazing, forming bridges for the fire to spread to other buildings. Every house

Persuasive Speech Logos
No matter what discomforts and expenses you had to bear to come here, there will be seven minutes
tomorrow morning that will make you feel it was worth it, said a NASA guide to a group of guests on
the day of the rocket launch. The purpose of each of these articles have large distinctions between
each other. The first article, In Event of Moon Disaster, by William Safire, is meant to comfort the
audience. The second article, The July 16, 1969, Launch: A Symbol of Man s Greatness, by Ayn Rand,
is meant to describe the amount of happiness and pride the nation as a whole felt that day. The purpose
of these articles is also tremendously impacted by how the authors present the subject to the audience.
Because the speaker of the second article, Ayn Rand, was present in this particular occasion there is an
intimate influence on the text from the speaker. Both of these texts appeal to the audience with ethos
considering they are both prevalent people in society. The President has automatic ethos, and the
author also has ethos with her position as a novelist. On top of that both articles appeal to the audience
with logos because it is very logical that the nation would either be upset and mourning the case of a
loss, or the nation would be jubilant and elated with the successful landing on the moon. Lastly, the
articles appeal to pathos in that they trap the american hearts with either sadness or happiness. The
articles hook into the reader s emotion through talking about families mourning and using figurative
language about the image of the launch. Both of these texts are equally effective in completing their
purposes.
Furthermore, the purpose in these two articles are completely variant, but they still have similarities.
The first article, In Event of Moon Disaster, is just the President trying to comfort the American
people and maybe even those who have theoretically died. The President is reaching out and
reassuring his people that America will not give up, and that these two men were not lost in vain.
These two men willingly made a sacrifice which lead to their death, according to this speech, making
this mission unsuccessful. Even though Nixon is not the author of the speech, he adds ethos to the

He will start to sweat as he is running at his full potential. The heart will start to work harder and will
deliver oxygenated blood to the muscles via arteries, capillaries and the veins. The blood is received
from the body and it goes into the right atrium and here the blood is filtered and is passed on to the
right ventricle. The blood then goes to the lungs where the deoxygenated blood becomes oxygenated.
The blood then goes back to the heart by the left atrium and it then goes into the left ventricle, the left
ventricle will give a bigger contraction as it is going to the body. This system is repeated many times.
The arteries and veins become bigger so more blood can pass through. Stroke volume and cardiac
output will increase. Stroke volume will increase by 170ml. cardiac output will increase by 35L.
During the race the respiratory system is working hard to deliver oxygenated blood to the muscles.
Gaseous exchange takes place and becomes faster as it is more common during exercise. This will
allow more oxygen into the blood stream which will get to the muscles quicker. The inspiration
movement becomes harder and faster and this allows more oxygen to be breathed in. Expiration

if I said you could? Just carry this gun you ll even get paid . In War Pigs it says death and hatred to
mankind, poisoning their brainwashed minds . In both those examples the song tells you how they are
sold a fake reality and betrayed. My evidence for this is when he says we took him away, a bag over
his face from his family and his friends, they took of his clothes, they pissed in his hands, I told them
to stop, but then I joined in . This is showing how when he went to war he was told it will be fun but
when reality hit him and he realised he was breaking up family s. And what the recruiters said to him
was a lie. Same as War Pigs when it says Evil minds that plot destruction, sorcerer of death s
construction, in the field bodies burning, as the war machine keeps turning . The same as the last piece
of evidence he was brainwashed into think war was good but when they got there and saw everyone

A Small Place Analysis
Jamaica Kincaid s novel A Small Place is a fictional novel about her life growing up on an island that
has been imperialised by the British. Jamaica Kincaid shows acrimony to the colonization of her
country, towards the corrupt government that has stunted the growth of her country, towards the white
people that took Antigua in their hands and molded it into something embryonic. The dictionary
defines third world as the underdeveloped nations of the world, especially those with widespread
poverty, with this description, Antigua will be classified as a third world country after achieving their
independence from the British. A Small Place reveals that post colonial Antigua is still pinned by a
form of slavery through the nation s poor economy, government corruption, and the impoverished
Antiguans. The poor economy and corrupt government are hand in hand to help create the
impoverished Antiguans.
The corrupt government of Antigua restricts their citizens ability to buy specific goods, like cars, in
order to benefit the people working in the government, banks are encouraged by the government to
make loans available for cars, but loans for houses not so easily available; and if you ask again why,
you will be told that the two main car dealerships in Antigua are owned in part or outright by ministers
in government (Kincaid 7). The government forces the banks to make it easier for the purchase of cars
that are partly owned by the ministers of the Antiguan government so they

mild to chronic addiction and sometimes can turn out fatal for some people (Chakraburtty). Almost
100,000 people have died from overusing this drug (Chakraburtty). Alcoholism and alcohol abuse is
not only damaging emotionally, physically, and mentally to the person who is doing it, but to the
people around them as well. Both alcoholism and alcohol abuse are each categorized as different
cases. Alcohol abuse is different from alcoholism because people who are just alcohol abusers still

People may think that alcohol may be hard only on the liver, but when someone abuses alcohol it can
affect much more. For example, alcohol has a major effect on the brain. Alcohol has been known to be
a major cause of many suicides, homicides, car accidents, and other death related topics
(Chakraburtty). Many people are naïve into thinking that alcohol can and is harmless, but while they
are having that drink to just have a good time, they are unaware of the toll it is taking on their body.
Chronic alcohol use is very hard on your health and can lead to many long lasting health problems
(Chakraburtty). Alcohol is very harmful to other organs as well as the body s tissue. According to
Alcohol s Damaging Effects on the Brain, moderate drinking leads to short term impairment, but it
can also lead to long term impairment as well (Parsons). The long term impairment that can happen,
especially with parents, is the huge effect on the people around the alcoholic. Parents that have a
drinking problem tend to be blinded and cannot see the damage that is being done. Children who are
exposed to any alcoholism may struggle in school, work, and other activities ( Teens ). Parents who

A Look Inside Native Americans High Rates of Obesity and...
Native Americans have the highest rates of obesity and diabetes in the United States. According to the
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Native Americans are 60% more likely to be obese
and are over twice as likely to have diabetes than the general population. These numbers are even
higher for Southwest Native Americans. But their diet is very similar to the rest of modern society. So
why do Native Americans suffer these conditions at higher rates than the general population? The
answer may be found in new research that is beginning to point to a genetic cause for these conditions.
In a study by Peggy Halpern, Ph.D. for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, she found
that historically Native Americans of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We know the ancestors of all Native Americans came from Asia. We know this to be a fact because
DNA analysis of Native Americans, including Native Americans of the southwestern United States,
shows a direct link to people living in northeast Asia today. According to Jake Page, former editor of
both Natural History and Smithsonian magazines: ...geneticists have found...DNA lineages present in
native populations...which...are found only in Asians... . Linguistic and dentition analysis also
demonstrate Native Americans descended from peoples living in Asia. Today, almost no one debates
the premise that the ancestors of Native Americans came from Asia. There is also very little debate as
to how these first Asians arrived in North America. Because so much of the world s water was locked
up in glaciers during the last ice age, sea level was lower than it is today. According to David Meltzer,
Associate Professor of Anthropology at Southern Methodist University and an internationally
recognized authority on the first inhabitants of the New World: ...these lowered oceans exposed the
shallow continental shelf beneath the Bering and Chukchi Seas. This shelf...connected Alaska and
Siberia...and it trafficked...in plants, animals, and people.
There is, however, much debate as to when the first Asian peoples migrated to North America.
Modern research has revealed that during the height

Emile Durkheim Theory Of Suicide
Traditionally, suicide was thought to be a purely individual decision but French sociologist Emile
Durkheim recognized that the phenomenon had a social dimension. He believed in the influence of
society on the individual and that if anything can explain that relation, it is suicide. His use of the data
of suicide, not specific cases and reports, to study the societal trends reveals his true subject of study:
society as a whole and its role in the individual experience. Durkheim uses the study of suicide via the
quantitative methodological approach as a tool to study society as a broader whole. Suicide, to
Durkheim, is an exaggerated form of ordinary practices, and they arise from comparable states of
mind in people, with the only difference between daily and suicidal behavior being the chance of
death (Durkheim 20 21). Durkheim spends the majority of the work dissecting the apparent motives
for suicide (Durkheim 151) and observing the varieties of suicide, a feat made difficult by the
inaccurate reporting and misunderstandings of investigators. Thus, to understand the types of suicide,
we must reverse the order of our research for There can only be as many different types of suicide as
there are differences in the causes from which they derive, (Durkheim 149). He says if they were all
found to have the same essential characteristics, they would be grouped in one class but observations
that we would need to have are more or less impossible obtain (Durkheim

Abstract
This paper is intended to shine a light onto distribution channels, both direct and indirect, as well as,
provide a better understanding of channel levels. It will also deal with the different channel
organizations, including conventional, horizontal, vertical and multichannel marketing systems.
(Kern R. 2013) These distribution channels and their organizations will help the candy company better
meet the needs of the niche candy market that they intend to target.

Selective distribution, however, should never be abandoned because that is what keeps the price of
their product from falling below a set value.
Channel Organization Distribution channels are organized in several ways: conventional, vertical,
horizontal and multichannel (Kern R. 2013). Some of these organizational methods are more
structured than others. When a distribution channel deals with more than one independent producer,
such as wholesalers and retailers, the channel is known as a conventional distribution channel. (Kern
R. 2013) These channels are not normally known to be strong and typically don t give the customer
the quality of product that they deserve. In a vertical marketing system, the retailers, wholesalers and
producers, join forces to create a unified front, promoting an individual product (Kern R. 2013).
Vertical distribution channels are stronger than the conventional distribution channels because all of
the companies involved carry some of the load of power. (Kern R. 2013) In a horizontal distribution
channel, companies join up and combine all of their finances and resources, in order to take on more
than one company or product (Kern R. 2013). A multichannel distribution channel is where a large
corporation uses two or more marketing channels to better target their desired customer segments

  • 2. The Harmony Of The Gospels Essay Harmony of the Gospels The first four books of the New Testament, collectively referred to as The Gospels, are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Defined, gospel means good news (BD, 682). Together, these gospels written by distinctly different authors, each with a different perspective, offer marvelous insight into the life and ministry of the Savior and Redeemer, Jesus the Christ. Through their similarities and differences, they provide a beautiful testimony of his teachings and works to provide a dynamic and living picture of who Jesus is: a King, Christ in action, a human, and as the light and life of the world. Each author is striving to bring the good news of who the Son of God is and his amazing and infinite Atonement, to all mankind. Matthew The first book of the New Testament is Matthew. Matthew was known before his conversion as Levi (BD, 729), and lived in Capernaum which is located on the Northern Shore of the Sea of Galilee (The Holy Land in New Testament Times, Map 11). He was Jewish publican, or tax gatherer, which was possibly one of the most hated positions of that time. During Christ s ministry, Matthew was called to be one of the Twelve Apostles, named in Matthew 10:3. In his writings, Matthew emphasizes that Jesus is in fact that very Messiah that had been prophesied in the Old Testament, by citing the words of Isaiah, Micah, and Jeremiah (Class Lecture, September 19). He sought to show the Jews that Jesus is the King of kings, the promised Messiah (BD, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Jealousy In Disney s Panopticism Disney s Panopticon When looking through the eye of Foucault s Panopticism, it becomes clear that Disney s Cinderella is not only a story of a mistreated stepdaughter who marries her prince but also an allegory for an attempt to regulate women s actions in society. Foucault described a prison in which a tower was placed in the middle and from which the guards were capable of viewing all of the cells concurrently. The prisoners, not knowing whether or not they were being watched, adjusted their behavior to fit the standards that the guards had set. The reason for this adjustment was to avoid being punished if a guard happened to have been looking in their direction. Cinderella regulates women s demeanor in much the same way by teaching girls, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this depiction of Cinderella, every eligible maiden in the kingdom wanted to marry the Prince, so it is only logical to believe that all of the women without a husband should have wanted to marry the prince. That is the conclusion that can be drawn from Cinderella. It is this exact conclusion that drives the women of our society to be constantly looking for their prince from as early as they can remember. Through the use of colorful advertising and constant advertisements, Disney has created a world where masses of little girls want to grow up to become princesses. If a girl does not want to look for her prince, but instead wants to focus on her work or school or something totally different, she is seen as a social pariah and people will wonder what is wrong with her. An overarching shadow will be placed over these girls by others because they were all raised on the Cinderella idea that every girl should be looking to marry their prince. This is because society acts as an overarching panopticon over women to make sure that they are always looking for their prince instead of focusing on what is important to them. By creating turning many women into social outcasts, society is able keep many girls from trying to do anything more than being a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Negative Effects Of Bilingualism In Education In a country such as Canada, having two official languages makes it nearly impossible to avoid the topic of bilingualism. Anyone who grew up through education system in Ontario likely has strong opinions about the value of being able to speak both English and French fluently. Those opinions may be strengthened further once a resident is faced with the challenge of deciding which educational stream to apply their children to. Immigrant families have it more difficult in that their children are already learning their native language and English when they arrive, and then they may be required start learning French as well. Along with these social implications of bilingual learning, there are also psychological issues that come up. There are helpful effects and some that are not so helpful that result from trying to learn two languages, this paper serves as a means to display both the benefits and the drawbacks related to bilingualism and the bilingual learning process. Learning more than one language at once constantly requires that the learner be incredibly adaptable and responsive. This means that their executive control system is much more stimulated while learning than that of their fellow students who participate in a monolingual program. If this is indeed the case, it could also be that this more active system is strengthened, giving a student in such a program an advantage over other students (Bialystok, 2008). If implemented properly, many of the negative effects of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To overcome the hindrance of fear and negative mindset the same principle applies. Collins (2009) asserts, Pray read Philippians 4:6 7, talk openly to a friend, challenge defeating self talk, build a positive attitude, take small steps and notice what happens, and stop imaging the worst case possibilities (p. 226). • 11. Jean Piaget And His Theory On Cognitive Development Jean Piaget and His Theory on Cognitive Development Jean Piaget is one of the most influential theorists in cognitive development and he argues that children pass through the same sequence of stages when it comes to this developmental domain. This paper will begin with a general overview of Jean Piaget s beliefs when it comes to children s cognitive development and the basics of his four stages. Next, an in depth look will be taken at each of the stages followed by defining the Piagetian ideas of adapting in the world through assimilation, accommodation, and disequilibrium that may results. These ideas will be accompanied by examples and significance to the classroom. I will conclude with a summary of all the points previously discussed. As introduced, the distinguished Swiss psychologist, Jean Piaget, is one of the most influential theorists in cognitive development. Author Barry J. Wadsworth (1996) wrote about Piaget s vast contributions to the understanding of children s intellectual development and though his initial interest was in biology, the idea that the development of children s intelligence could be studied experimentally by examining their thinking and reasoning peaked his research interest into this field (p.6). Throughout his research, Piaget was more interested in the qualitative, not quantitative, characteristics of development. He was concerned with how a child came to understand the knowledge and material, not with how much the child knew (p. 7). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Relationship Between Photography And Traveling Although the relationship between travel and photographing can be traced back in the distant past, the practice of recording experiences in pictures has become especially popular after the Great War. In England from the 1920 s to the 1940 s tourism in the countryside grew dramatically, at the same time cameras were made available to the average household. Individuals lost their dependency from professional artists and photographers, and got the power to photograph a scene according to their perception (Taylor, 1994). With the continuous expansion of urban centres the appeal of rural, undiscovered and unvisited places grew side by side. In a world where changes were too fast to comprehend, people sought refuge in the past and saw the camera as a way to capture the past and take it home with them. Not much has changed since that time. These days people from different social strata still seek for untouched places and authentic experiences, where they can feel themselves to be in touch both with a real world and with their real selves (Handler Saxton, 1988, p. 243), and photographs are believed to have the capability to capture the spirit of the place and to reproduce what was seen or experienced (Robinson Picard, 2009). Even though photographs are often described as mere representations of reality (Baudrillard, 1994; Edwards, 2003; Robinson Picard, 2009), the practice of photographing has become an essential part of the tourist experience. • 15. Analysis Of Death Of The Moth By Virginia Woolf In The Death of The Moth by Virginia Woolf, we have a story about a moth that flies during the day that eventually dies by the end of our story. The story of how the moth tries to beat death by always moving and showing that he has life is one that is fought by all creatures. The way his wings are yellow and the way they mix with the sun to show he is a day moth instead of a moth that we commonly see at night is connected to how we ourselves dress ourselves as people that signify who we are. The moth is pointed out to be a day moth instead of a night moth. The moth is depicted as somewhere between a butterfly and a normal moth. Virginia Woolf makes an excellent story about people and moths. In The Death of the Moth we see this who is fluttering outside the narrator s window. We see how the moth, like everything else in the world, is soaking up the sun, which is also heating its little body with life. The moth in this story is like every other living thing on the planet earth. The moth wants to live and not die. This does not become apparent until later in the story. When we see the moth finally land, and we understand that this is his last struggle against death. A way of telling death that it could beat death. Films with this theme show families that do not fit the ideal family image and are instead riddled with issues and problems that conflict that prevent the families from being whole and can lead to the separation and breakage of them. One film that has aspects of the failing family theme is Ringu (1998) directed by Hideo Nakata; a film about a tape that curses and kills the viewer in seven days after watching which prompts the lead character, Reiko Asakawa, to stop the curse. The failing family theme is expressed through two different families, Reiko s family and Sadako s family, which both show, in different ways, the failings of their respective families and what those themes convey in their depiction. These families show together how the failings and problems they have impact the family members in negative ways. Reiko s family is one example of the failing family theme in Ringu. Reiko is a single mother, divorced from her ex husband Ryuji, who lives with her son Yoichi on their own. She is independent, and able to financially provide for the both of them as a journalist. This separates her from the traditional domestic Japanese woman ideal as she lives independently from any patriarchal figure (Wee, p. 157). My contribution to the teams I lead is very restrictive and task focused. This helps ensure team member s work is of the quality required, and complete on time. I tend to work to ensure everyone knows their position and what they need to do to complete tasks. My expert leadership approach brings my background experiences into the task at hand, and help my team members learn and grow. I tend to not be overbearing in the information presented but instead fill in when needed to give guidance to finish the task. I work closely with team members to get information to all involved. If conflicts arise, I will push to get the conflict eliminated through overpowering the situation with expert knowledge and experience. Many people rely on the media for news or sports coverage, but they don t realize that the media may influence people s beliefs or way of behaving. The media cover sports in order to provide information to the fans, but they also can create fake news to spark controversy in sports. The world of sports is largely affected by the media as they are a big topic to talk about throughout all kinds of media. Although the media can provide information about sports to fans, it can also create positive and negative conditions for the athletes. The media s portrayal of sports creates rivalries between teams and players which increases competitiveness, damages professional relationships, and lowers morals which affects the player s motivation and skill. When the media begins to make comparisons between athletes and sports teams the competitiveness between them increases. If athletes begin to notice that they are being compared to another athlete, they may become motivated to work harder in order to outdo their opponent. For instance, Cristiano Ronaldo, professional soccer player, is constantly being compared with his arch rival Lionel Messi. These two men are considered the best soccer players in the world, but they play for rival teams. Their teams are also considered the two best soccer teams in the world which is the main reason that they are always being compared. When Cristiano was asked about his rivalry with Messi, he stated that the rivalry that the media created, motivates him to push himself harder in order to surpass Messi. Cristiano s goal has always been to become the best and this rivalry gives him an even bigger push to train harder. The rivalry created by the media have benefited both the players and the fans as they both have become motivated to play better and the fans get their share as they get to witness a great match between these two amazing players. There are many legitimate reasons for opposing enlargement, including: loss of sovereignty and autonomy, diverting efforts and resources from deepening integration between member states, and the stress being put on the institutions and economies of member states by countries with unfair trade, rampant corruption, and territorial and ethnic disputes. Regardless of the validity of these criticisms, in terms of effectiveness, enlargement proves the most powerful foreign policy tool of the European Union. I will contend this by focusing on the different foreign policy tools available to states and multi state coalitions like the EU: diplomacy, foreign aid, and military force. Through this examination of available foreign policy tools, I will contend that enlargement combines these tools resulting in a finished product that is greater than the sum of its parts. The EU s foreign policy options include diplomacy, foreign aid, and military force. In terms of diplomacy, the EU affords itself many advantages through its multilateral decision making. The second article, The July 16, 1969, Launch: A Symbol of Man s Greatness, by Ayn Rand, is meant to describe the amount of happiness and pride the nation as a whole felt that day. The purpose of these articles is also tremendously impacted by how the authors present the subject to the audience. Because the speaker of the second article, Ayn Rand, was present in this particular occasion there is an intimate influence on the text from the speaker. Both of these texts appeal to the audience with ethos considering they are both prevalent people in society. The President has automatic ethos, and the author also has ethos with her position as a novelist. On top of that both articles appeal to the audience with logos because it is very logical that the nation would either be upset and mourning the case of a loss, or the nation would be jubilant and elated with the successful landing on the moon. Lastly, the articles appeal to pathos in that they trap the american hearts with either sadness or happiness. The articles hook into the reader s emotion through talking about families mourning and using figurative language about the image of the launch. Both of these texts are equally effective in completing their purposes. Furthermore, the purpose in these two articles are completely variant, but they still have similarities. The first article, In Event of Moon Disaster, is just the President trying to comfort the American people and maybe even those who have theoretically died. The President is reaching out and reassuring his people that America will not give up, and that these two men were not lost in vain. • 41. A Look Inside Native Americans High Rates of Obesity and... Native Americans have the highest rates of obesity and diabetes in the United States. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Native Americans are 60% more likely to be obese and are over twice as likely to have diabetes than the general population. These numbers are even higher for Southwest Native Americans. But their diet is very similar to the rest of modern society. So why do Native Americans suffer these conditions at higher rates than the general population? The answer may be found in new research that is beginning to point to a genetic cause for these conditions. In a study by Peggy Halpern, Ph.D. for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, she found that historically Native Americans of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We know the ancestors of all Native Americans came from Asia. We know this to be a fact because DNA analysis of Native Americans, including Native Americans of the southwestern United States, shows a direct link to people living in northeast Asia today. According to Jake Page, former editor of both Natural History and Smithsonian magazines: ...geneticists have found...DNA lineages present in native populations...which...are found only in Asians... . Linguistic and dentition analysis also demonstrate Native Americans descended from peoples living in Asia. Today, almost no one debates the premise that the ancestors of Native Americans came from Asia. There is also very little debate as to how these first Asians arrived in North America. Because so much of the world s water was locked up in glaciers during the last ice age, sea level was lower than it is today. According to David Meltzer, Associate Professor of Anthropology at Southern Methodist University and an internationally recognized authority on the first inhabitants of the New World: ...these lowered oceans exposed the shallow continental shelf beneath the Bering and Chukchi Seas. This shelf...connected Alaska and Siberia...and it trafficked...in plants, animals, and people. There is, however, much debate as to when the first Asian peoples migrated to North America. Modern research has revealed that during the height ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Emile Durkheim Theory Of Suicide Traditionally, suicide was thought to be a purely individual decision but French sociologist Emile Durkheim recognized that the phenomenon had a social dimension. He believed in the influence of society on the individual and that if anything can explain that relation, it is suicide. His use of the data of suicide, not specific cases and reports, to study the societal trends reveals his true subject of study: society as a whole and its role in the individual experience. Durkheim uses the study of suicide via the quantitative methodological approach as a tool to study society as a broader whole. Suicide, to Durkheim, is an exaggerated form of ordinary practices, and they arise from comparable states of mind in people, with the only difference between daily and suicidal behavior being the chance of death (Durkheim 20 21). Durkheim spends the majority of the work dissecting the apparent motives for suicide (Durkheim 151) and observing the varieties of suicide, a feat made difficult by the inaccurate reporting and misunderstandings of investigators. Thus, to understand the types of suicide, we must reverse the order of our research for There can only be as many different types of suicide as there are differences in the causes from which they derive, (Durkheim 149). He says if they were all found to have the same essential characteristics, they would be grouped in one class but observations that we would need to have are more or less impossible obtain (Durkheim ... Selective distribution, however, should never be abandoned because that is what keeps the price of their product from falling below a set value. Channel Organization Distribution channels are organized in several ways: conventional, vertical, horizontal and multichannel (Kern R. 2013). Some of these organizational methods are more structured than others. When a distribution channel deals with more than one independent producer, such as wholesalers and retailers, the channel is known as a conventional distribution channel. (Kern R. 2013) These channels are not normally known to be strong and typically don t give the customer the quality of product that they deserve. In a vertical marketing system, the retailers, wholesalers and producers, join forces to create a unified front, promoting an individual product (Kern R. 2013). Vertical distribution channels are stronger than the conventional distribution channels because all of the companies involved carry some of the load of power. (Kern R. 2013) In a horizontal distribution channel, companies join up and combine all of their finances and resources, in order to take on more than one company or product (Kern R. 2013). A multichannel distribution channel is where a large corporation uses two or more marketing channels to better target their desired customer segments (Kern R. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
