Choice And Agency In The Matrix Trilogy
As Dr. Mike Sosteric sagaciously suggests, the Matrix trilogy is a comprehensive metaphor for
modern capitalistic society (Sosteric, 2015). In the simplest discernment, the Matrix trilogy reveals
that the mass majority is either unaware of, or indifferent to, the extent that they are controlled by the
uppermost in society. Furthermore, the concepts put forth in the Matrix trilogy relate to a multitude of
the concepts introduced specifically in this unit, and the course in its entirety. These concepts include,
but are not limited to, agency, choice, power, propaganda, resistance, mobilization, demobilization,
ideology, and religion.

Mexicans Are Taking Jobs
Choosing Sitting quietly at a table, pouring over poem after poem, has led to this point. Two are left,
but which to choose. On one hand there is What s That Smell in the Kitchen? by Marge Piercy, but on
the other is So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs from Americans by Jimmy Santiago Baca. The others have
cast their vote one and one; the final judge will make the decision. Although the two poems are both
good poem, only one can be chosen to win. So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs from Americans is a better
poem for three reasons; it addresses a more important issue, the use of a sarcastic anecdote makes it
more sophisticated, and it uses stronger hyperbole. Both poems address important issues, but the

Piercy is overly describing the emotions and desires the woman is feeling to appeal to the reader.
Perhaps the stronger hyperbole in Piercy s piece is comparing the burning of the food to war. Piercy
states that burning dinner is not incompetence but war (22). So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs from
Americans is riddled with hyperbole. To start, Baca utilizes hyperbole in describing the jobs being
stolen. He over exaggerates how Mexicans are doing it, and he simplifies the American response.
Baca also uses hyperbole to describe the murder of America s youth. He states that they never gave the
children an chance to live (41) and that the rich want to let them die (43). The hyperbole in Baca s
piece is stronger for three reasons. First, both Americans and Mexicans relate to it more. Baca uses
specific vocabulary to appeal to Americans such as ese gringo (3) and clean suited farmers (26); both
of which appeal to Americans desire to blame someone other than themselves. Baca also uses specific
imagery to appeal to Mexicans. His description of the American leader and depicting a woman
working all day long in the fields (29) are things that relate to Mexicans. Second, the Hyperbole is
more concrete. Emotions and desires are as fickle as the wind. However jobs and money are typically
concrete and don t change radically. Finally and most importantly, the hyperbole used by Baca, elicits
more emotion than that used by Piercy. While Piercy

As if Americans live in a microwave culture, waiting for what seems to be hours before the
microwave buzzes, they are impatient, and constantly resorting to technology. Family dinners are no
longer centered around heart to heart discussions about events that occurred that day, but instead are

World War I Was The First Major War
World War I was the first major war where technology was relied on more than the troops themselves.
After what was called the Second Industrial Revolution most major countries started to create new
technologies that in the end would pave the way for World War I. These technologies ranged from the
most used everyday things all the way up to specific types of weaponry to be used in specific
scenarios along the trenches. Most of these technologies of war, developed from common civilian or
household items, these could only result in better use in war. These machines of war are so vast and
expansive in type, but they are all technologies that would have needed to have been used to bring the

TITLE
There were initially two to ten million natives in the United States prior to European contact. Those
numbers dwindled down drastically in the years that Europeans came and started colonizing. The
Europeans came to explore the New World in search of land, spices, gold, God and glory. Among
these colonists were the Spanish who colonized most of the southwest of the United States. Evidence
of their settlements can still be seen today in the missions scattered across the land. These missions
were started with the purpose of converting the Native Americans to Christianity. Try to put yourself
into the shoes of the Native Americans, imagine living your entire life with a particular set of beliefs,
based on what was handed down by your ancestors and culture. Then suddenly a group of foreigners
would come and proclaim that your views are all wrong and that you must follow their beliefs for the
salvation of your soul. This is exactly what the Spanish colonizers did to the Native Americans as they
invaded their territory which is the reason why the relationship between the two parties were strained

Similarities and Differences Between Polly and Jessie...
Polly and Jessie Wilson both have many similarities and differences in the book The Secret Lives of
Sgt. John Wilson. First, both of these characters stay dedicated to John Wilson throughout the entire
story, trusting he is always doing the right thing. Second, neither Polly nor Jessie suspect John is doing
anything wrong. Third, Polly and Jessie are both married at a young age, which doesn t give them time
to experience life before dedicating themselves to this man. Fourth, both believe every word of Johns,
