Present Education System Essay
Crafting an essay on the current education system is both a challenging and thought-provoking
task. The complexity arises from the multifaceted nature of the topic, as it involves analyzing
various aspects such as pedagogical methods, curriculum design, institutional structures, socio-
economic factors, and the ever-evolving needs of students.
Firstly, one must delve into extensive research to gather relevant information and data to support
their arguments. This includes studying educational theories, scrutinizing statistical trends, and
exploring real-life examples of educational practices. The dynamic nature of the education
system necessitates a continuous update of knowledge to provide a comprehensive and up-to-
date analysis.
Addressing the multitude of perspectives surrounding education is another layer of difficulty.
The subject is not only influenced by academic theories but also by cultural, societal, and
political factors. Consequently, crafting an essay demands a nuanced approach that considers the
diverse opinions and stances on the topic. Balancing a critical evaluation of the system's flaws
and merits while proposing constructive solutions adds an additional layer of complexity.
Moreover, maintaining coherence and clarity throughout the essay is essential to ensure that the
reader can follow the argument seamlessly. Juggling intricate details without losing sight of the
overarching theme requires meticulous planning and organization. Additionally, the writer must
navigate the fine line between objectivity and subjectivity, presenting a well-informed
perspective while acknowledging the inherent subjectivity in discussing education.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the present education system is a formidable task that requires
in-depth research, critical thinking, and a nuanced understanding of the multifaceted factors at
play. However, overcoming these challenges can lead to a profound exploration of an issue that
significantly impacts society's future.

Honor in No One Writes to the Colonel and Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Garcia
Marquez
Every culture in the world has its own unique set of values that they adhere to in
life. The most important value to people is their honor. Honor is a very important
factor in a person life that they will stop at nothing to make sure it is not lost. This
endless pursuit of keeping honor can causes both positive and negative effects to a
society. The reason honor is a main driving force in a person s life is for the simple
fact that it determines how the society views that person s integrity, honesty and
truthfulness to himself and family.
In the two novellas No One Writes to the Colonel and Chronicle of a Death Foretold,

The Colonel and his wife consequently starve in order to maintain the honor given
by the rooster. They conceal this humiliation of poverty by giving a false illusion of
who they are to their neighbors. The Colonel believes that starvation is necessary as
long as they are honorable to the liberal party and their son. The wife of the Colonel
states I [place] stones on to boil so the neighbors wouldn t know that we often go
with out food for days (159). The Colonel s wife feels humiliated that they have to
live in poverty to maintain honor. In a moment of doubt the Colonel s wife states to
the Colonel you can t eat dignity (160). Then the author uses a brief interruption in
the setting to show incorrectness in the wife s comment. Garcia uses the interruption
of lighting to show that what the wife said was wrong and that lying and maintaining
their honor is the most important thing to do.
This same idea that maintaining honor can cause a person to live a life of lies is
seen in the novella Chronicle of a Death Foretold. The whole town covers up and
lies about being involved and having any information about Santiago Nasar s death.
They do this because they want to honor the Vicario family by making the murder
look justifiable and a strict matter of family honor. The narrator states that, affairs of
honor are sacred monopolies, giving access only to those who are part of it

Similarities Between The Taming Of The Shrew
Good morning Mrs Fredman and class. Today I am going to talk about how faithful
the film 10 things I hate about you was to Shakespeare s play, The taming of the
shrew . I will be comparing them both to show why I think the modern movie is
faithful to Shakespeare s play. I ll be discussing the themes, setting and etc.
Today I will talk about several similarities between the film and the play. Some
similarities are that they are both set in Padua but more specifically the film was
set in Padua High School and the play is set in the Italian town of Padua. In the
play Bianca the younger sister couldn t marry until the older sister Katerina did so
because back in Shakespeare s day it was a must that the elder sister has to get
married before

His talking machine shows that he did enjoy inventing things, and it foreshadows the

Alexander Graham Bell had some good mentors when it came to his inventing. Bell
also spent much of his time inventing. Along with many other innovators of the
1870s, including Thomas Edison, he worked om the multiplex telegraph a machine
that would send and receive more than one signal over an electrical wire at the same
time (Streissguth). The fact that he worked with Thomas Edison, who is one of the
greatest inventors in history, shows that people had faith in him and believed that he
could accomplish great things. He had some excellent role models to look up to. He
had some amazing influences that helped lead him to the invention of the telephone.
Alexander Graham Bell has many different achievements, such as the Volta prize,
President of the National Geographic Society, and a regent of the Smithsonian
Institution. He also invented things such as, the air conditioning system, the
hydrofoil speedboat and aerial transportation.
In 1880 the French government awarded Bell the Volta prize of 50,000 francs for
inventing the telephone. (Monkeyshines on America). His wining this award was
helpful with his career. He used his prize money to help further his career and his
inventions. He was appreciated for his accomplishments by a country that he was not

What caused of Detroit s descent from a wealthy, vital city into one where ruins are
common and the city is bankrupt.

December 3, 2013, Motor City Detroit officially declared bankruptcy, it became the
largest bankruptcy issue in the history of the United States of America.
II. Background
Detroit is the largest city in Michigan and is belong to Wayne County. Founded in
1701 by French explorer and fur trader Antoine de La Mothe Cadillac . It is an

This is not bad, 2003 and 2007, Detroit is the most dangerous city ranking highest
level of the list.
III. Major Point 2
Exploring the decline of Detroit, in fact, the welfare system is also inseparable. The
high welfare of car workers is the glory and tradition of the US automotive industry,
opening the American car era , but also a heavy burden of sustainable development.
The car trade union make manufacturers struggling to pay worker s wage, not to
mention the reduction of efficiency. The industry is declining, the unemployment rate
is rising; taxation is decreasing, welfare insurance has increased. In order to maintain
the operation, Detroit government can only be deficit day by day.
IV. Conclusion
A bustling metropolis of the United States eventually reduced to miserable world and
had to declare bankruptcy protection. It highlighted the failure of Detroit s urban
governance transformation, which mixed race contradictions show the division of
American society. After it ruined, politicians can easily just leave, the most suffering

A True Friend Ginny Quotes
A true friend is someone who is there for you when he d rather be anywhere else.
This quote explains that a friend needs to stay by your side even on the bad times.
This shows how Ginny always stayed by Smitty and how she was helping him.
Ginny was a coward person at the beginning of the chapter I m a coward, and I ve
faced it, and I ve learned to accept it. She s also a curious person I m feeling very
sorry for myself. Ginny moves to a different town and she didn t have any friend in
the beginning of the school year. That change Ginny to be a different person. In
chapter six, she tells smitty, in feeling very sorry friendly. When ginny goes to go
watch a movie she always told Smitty to come with her. Ginny really wanted to
make smitty talk. Over the next couple of days, I began to pick up on Smitty s new

The Memory Palace Of Matteo Ricci Analysis
Matteo Ricci was a born in Italy in 1552. He became a Jesuit and went a mission to
China in 1583. He lived out the rest of his twenty seven years in China, bringing in
Western culture and technology, while learning about what China had to offer. In
his novel, The Memory Palace of Matteo Ricci, Jonathan Spence retells Ricci s life
story, while also adding information about the world at the time. Spence tells Ricci
s story in an interesting way, by assigning Chinese characters and images that he
believes Ricci would have used in his memory palace, a fictional tool to remember
what that took place during his life. The memory palace works by assigning
memories to a character or image, so when you think of the image, you can
remember the memories associated with it. Spence then breaks up the chapters
separately by each image or character and talks about the history and story from
Ricci s life associated with the image or character. This essay will primarily focus on
chapter four of the novel, though a summary of the themes of chapter six is included
as well. In chapter four Spence largely discusses the three main religions of the
Western world, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, and then draws parallels with the
three largest religions in Chinaat the time, Confucianism, Buddhism, and Daoism.
However, these examples are not the only instances where a trio of three religions
and belief systems are present. At the end of the Warring States period in China,
around 350 BCE, China was

Who Is James Fenimore Cooper s The Last Of The
Mohicans
James Fenimore Cooper, writer of the book The Last of the Mohicans, wrote the
novel in 1826. The Last of Mohicans tells the story of English and Native Americans
working together towards a rescue mission. Hawkeye, a white man raised by Native
Americans, is a famous sharp shooter that works with Native Americans to help a
colonel rescue his daughters from a rogue tribe. The Last of the Mohicansstarts out
with two girls and two men. These girls names are Cora and Alice Munro,
daughters of Colonel Munro, they are assisted by Major Heyward, of the 60th
regiment appointed by the King at Fort William Henry, and Heyward s Huron
navigator, Magua. They are joined by a man named David Gamut, a man who

At this point, our main character Hawkeye comes into the book, with his Mohican
companions, Uncas and his father Chingachgook. Our main character runs into the
five while riding through the woods because the five said that they re navigator
was lost, immediately he recognizes Magua as a rogue Native American, and
Hawkeye injures him while Magua flees. The seven riders go to hide, but Gamut s
mare, that he is riding, has a colt by her side. The colt was making too much noise
while they were trying to hide, so Uncas and Chingachgook killed it and got rid of
it in the river. Further along into the book the seven arrive at Fort William Henry,
Colonel Munro weeps at the sight of his daughters, Cora and Alice, but a few days
after arriving Hawkeye was captured by the French. Eventually Hawkeye was
released and Colonel Munro went and surrendered to Montcalm, who is a French
General that is aligned with the Hurons. While the people of Fort William Henry
were leaving the fort they were escorted by the Hurons, that were aligned with
General Montcalm, were slaughtered by the them when they became irritated and
impatient with the people of Fort William Henry. While the people were being
Social Civilization In Korea
The Japanese colonization of Korea made Koreans an easy target of exploitation.
Since Japan was in a great need of cheap labor, Korean workers were recruited
during 1920s. In this essay, I am going to discuss the significance of institutional
racial discrimination targeted towards Korean workers in interwar Japan as a tool of
alienation and exploitation. One of the abiding discernments formed in Karl Marxs
Capital is that in the colonies of capitalist nation states the apparitions of the law of
the supply and demandof labor are crushed. In the home country, the magnificent
allurement of capitalist production can be found in its capability to reproduce the
wage laborer by regularly setting him or her free, firing him or her and by creating a
surplus population that rests in approximate exteriority to capitalist manufacturing as
the prerequisite for the commodification of labor power. Regularly handling labor
power as a expendable commodity is hence the way capitalist manufacturing can
assure that its most nonexpendable commodity labor power is constantly there by the
time capitalist manufacturing encounters so called labor shortages during industrial
expansion. It is this reproductive apparatus that enables the smug knavery of the
Japanese colonial policymaker to envision and to formalize into normalized
principles of economic shift, that owners of labor power who are de facto impelled
to enter into a relationship of reliance with the wage form can take part in
The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Early Language...
From the moment we are born, our environment prepares us for this journey we call
life. We learn to communicate both verbally and non verbally. In my opinion and
based on three studies, socioeconomic status, the child s gender, the amount of
language they hear from their caregivers, word mapping, and social intent all effect
the child s vocabulary size. According to Spencer, Clegg, Stackhouse, the links
between socioeconomic disadvantage and early languagedevelopment are well
documented with reports of up to 50% of young children from areas of
socioeconomic is advantage having language delay. According to Pasek, Golinkoff,
and Hennon (2006), research states girls showed a quasi linear positive gain in
language across secondary school, while boys began with a decline and then
accelerated.
To begin with, socioeconomic status is categorized an individual s or family s social
status regarding income and occupation. I believe children from a low
socioeconomic status have a disadvantage in learning language as opposed to a
higher socioeconomic status. Language acquisition is the process that humans can
perceive, dissect, and understand language. Much research has been conducted on
infants and children to support this. According to Spencer, Clegg, and Stackhouse
(2012), many young children in that are from areas of social disadvantage learn
words at a different pace than their peers that are more advantaged. Many studies
have been published to support this. However, one
Wife Of Bath Allusion
Additionally, The Wife of Bath utilizes biblical and classical mythology allusions to
justify why women should be relieved from the expectations of sexual purity. In fact,
she makes over 30 references to the Bible, or to Greek and Roman mythology to help
expound on her point. At first glance, her arguments are persuasive and seem quite
substantial, but upon deeper reflection, almost all of them lack a trustworthy and
foundational basis. One interpretation of this, might be that the Wifeof Bath is
intentionally twisting scholarly information and biblical texts out of context, to
deride and parody religious scholars, like the Friar, who may twist and convolute
texts in their own favor. Even without approval from external sources of authority,...

This colorful characteristic and her dynamic, three dimensional personality, are what
makes her prologue and tale exceptionally captivating. The Wife of Bath, unlike the
other pilgrims, spends a significantly longer time telling her prologue than her tale.
Her tale seems only to be an allegorical method of underlining her belief that wives
should dominate over their husbands. In contrast, she expresses her prologue through
the autobiographical genre and this colloquial technique creates an intimate
environment for the reader. Her implied audience is not only the reader of The
Canterbury Tales, but the listener on the actual pilgrimage from London to
Canterbury. As to be expected on a Christian pilgrimage, there are numerous
religious figures, including the Prioress, the Knight, the Friar and the Summoner.
Perhaps, this fact is the reason why she excessively laces her language with
countless mentions of God and heavily relies on Christianity to help prove her
point. There is frequent reptition of the hye God (line 60) and the phrase As help
me God (line 596) or By God (line 634) are consistently stated, ironically,
sometimes directly before promiscuous phrases such as, I was a lusty oon (line 605).
Her tale also resembles common folklore tales, as the Wife of Bath attempts to appeal
to both

Examples Of Enlightened Despots
Enlightened Despots Embrace New Ideas Throughout the Enlightenment, there were
some monarchs that accepted the ideas from the Enlightenment, while other
monarchs still practiced absolutism as they wanted unlimited power for
themselves. The monarchs that accepted ideas from the Enlightenment were
known as enlightened despots. These depots were absolute rulers who used their
power to bring about political and social change to their lands. Among these
despots, who embraced the ideas of the Enlightenment were Frederick II, Catherine
the Great, and Joseph II. Frederick II, also known as Frederick the Great served as
the king of Prussia from 1740 to 1786. Although he used his power to control
people, he was an interesting man. One fact about Frederick II was that he liked the
French language and even built a Rococo palace known as Sanssouci located in
Berlin. Frederick praised the works of Voltaire, who was a French philosopher and
writer. He also invited French intellectuals from the Enlightenment to Prussia. When

Caliban the Mystery, Even to This Day. Many times, Shakespeare refers to Caliban
from The Tempest as a natural man . What did that mean to him, to be a natural man?
There are many reasons why Shakespeare would have called him that, including the
fact that he just looked completely different than the rest of the characters in The
Tempest. He was black and dirty, he looked like a savage. Far more different then the
other characters. By the end of the play, Caliban s character seems a lot less
important. Even though his role as a character starts to fade, he had a purpose in the
play. He raised many questions in the play, Caliban made us see what we were

Caliban was portrayed as such a repulsive man that he s overlooked for the true
meaning of himself. Many readers would just assume he is a savage and nothing
more. Shakespeare does an excellent job of making us understand the characters
and relate to them, he shows us Caliban from a negative perspective, that s actually
most times misinterpreted. Caliban s character also reveals the social hierarchy of
The Tempest and the ongoing situations in Shakespeare s era. This set up was
derived from long traditions that have been carried from Shakespeare s time.
Caliban was seen as a natural man which could have meant the bottom of the
bottom, lowest of the low. Any of these. He was the mystery of the play. Many
people weren t sure if Caliban was either a monster or a victim of colonialism.
Even though he had much fewer lines then Prospero, Caliban was the focus of
many readers interest, often with an importance far better than his actual presence
in the play. Caliban was often referred as the monster , many great critics say that
Caliban s name is an anagram or at least a play on the word, Cannibal . A term
derived from carib which became a European term used to describe flesh eaters. If
this was the case, then Caliban s name can be associated with the kinds of savage
man eaters that Europeans were reading about in travel literature when Shakespeare
wrote this play. It is also possible that Caliban s name may be a play on the

So because these words sound powerful together it instantly keeps the audience
hooked to Obama s speech because there are so many people who are high believers
in the constitution . Hence, it is important that these euphemisms sound powerful and
keep the audience interested because it has the audience focused on trying to coney
Obama s main message of his speech. Next, another language deceptive device that
Obama used in his speech to get his message across to the audience was emotive
language. Which is language that uses emotions in order to make the audience relate
to what Obama says. For example, in the eleventh paragraph of the speech Obama
states
We have more work to do.. More work for the worker that I met in Galesburg,
Illinois, who are losing their jobs and now are having to compete with their own
children for jobs that pay seven bucks an hour; more to do for the father that I met
who was losing his job and choking back tears, wondering how he would pay 4500
dollars a month for drugs his son needs. ( Obama 43 47)
In this part of the paragraph Obama used so much emotive language. He used
personal experience where he saw people struggling in this country. He adds by
saying that there s work needed to do for them. Obama was not referring just doing
work for those specific people individually, but to every other person who is
struggling the same ways these people were struggling. These examples are
The Importance Of Strengthening Your Grip On Football
Strengthening Your Grip On The Football. Fumbles occur usually as a result of the
quarterback being knocked down and the defender punching the ball out of his
hands while he s falling. While it is true that a good defensive play can cause a
fumble, some cases can be avoided with some drills. The first drill you can try is
the Spin Move drill. Naturally when you fall you put your arm out for balance. This
allows any defender behind you to knock the ball out of your hands. This drill tries to
expose you to an unbalanced position, all while stressing the importance of keeping
the ball tucked. Start by setting up three cones about five yards apart. While holding
the ball, sprint to the first cone, slow down, then plant your non dominant hand

Early Intervention And Lifestyle Adjustment Essay
Abstract
Aging is inevitable, and for some the process is seemingly smooth with minimal
adversity. The habits we form throughout our life will strongly impact our
development, and the potential development of our offspring/s. The similarities each
human being shares in regards to their anatomy and physiology help the
advancement of medicine and science to aid in living an optimal life. The purpose of
this research paper is to analyze one of the most debilitating diseases effecting the
elderly. Through my research, one of the most optimistic findings is that early
intervention and lifestyle adjustment can not only reduce the risk of developing
osteoporosis, but alleviate the harmful effects when prevention is unsuccessful or
unnoticed.
Introduction
The skeletal system is a flawless adaption for its functions of body protection and
movement. Our bones form a tower of skeleton arrangement designed to keep
humans standing upright and balanced. The skeleton is partitioned into the axial
skeleton, which encompasses the bones of the skull, the vertebral column, and the
thoracic cage (E.N. Marieb 2015). The second partitioning of the skeleton is the
appendicular skeleton (E.N. Marieb 2015), which include the bones of the limbs and
the bones responsible for holding the limbs to the axial skeleton. The bones in the
skeletal system are essential for the shape, support, protection of soft body organs,
movement, storage of fat, and minerals, production of hormones and blood. To
The Major Causes Of Concussions In Sports
Concussions Many memories are made in sports, but sadly, some of the greatest
players cannot remember them. Concussions are temporary unconsciousness caused
by a blow to the head. The term is also used loosely of the aftereffects such as
confusion or temporary incapacity (dictionary definition). Athletes can usually can
recognize a mild concussionby seeing lights or hearing bells. Before concussions
were discovered it was known as getting your bell rung because they didn t know
what it was. Concussions are one of the most dangerous things that could happen to
the human head. Concussions can cause symptoms to last a long time, and people
could not know they have one. Concussions long result is Chronic traumatic
encephalopathy, also known at CTE. CTE can cause Alzheimer s, Parkinson s
disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as; ALS, anxiety, depression, and
even death. A concussion is a onetime event that can make a huge change to one s life.
Sports are the main cause of concussions, but someone can get a concussion
anytime and anywhere. You don t have to be tackled by a 350 pound lineman to
injure your brain, says Brent Masel, M.D., medical director of the Brain Injury
Association of America. (Beil) Parents are now trying to keep their children from
playing sports until they re eighteen. Some people think that forcing athletes to
stop playing sports will stop concussions. People should learn how to prevent and
how to take care of one, instead of not doing what they love. It is important to
understand what a concussion is and how we can determine the state of the
problem. Keeping children away from what they love to do isn t fair to them, even
though there is a higher risk for their child to suffer from a concussion, because
their brains are not fully developed yet. Kids should be able to live their dreams
and play whatever sport suits them. If they don t get to play as a child, how will
they know if they like the sport or can play it? They wouldn t have any experience
playing the sport, just watching the games on television or going to them. Sports are
not the only way someone can get a concussion. A child could fall off a bed, trip
over something, or get into a wreck and hit their head and
The Entente Cordiale, Signed 1904
The Entente Cordiale, signed 1904, was a series of agreements that changed Anglo
Franco relations entirely. For one thousand years beforehand, the English and the
French had many disagreements, wars, and conflicts that created a lot of tension
between the two nations. But forty years after the Entente established a friendship
between the two countries, England and France fought two major wars as very close
allies.
The main reason that the Entente Cordiale was signed in the first place was that
England and France were having conflicts over land in Africa. Yet the agreement was
so monumental in nature that it completely changed Anglo Franco relations for over
one hundred years to come. It caused the two countries that had previously hated
each other to fight on the same side of two wars and cheer each other on. It changed
public opinion and foreign policy between the two nations. However, the actual
origins as to why the British would engage in negotiations with a country that they ve
hated for centuries seem uncertain. Germany is starting to mobilize, is threatening
Britain with its rapidly growing and modernizing navy, and is industrializing at an
alarming rate. At the same time, France is becoming more prominent in Africa and
the Mediterranean, not to mention a powerful alliance with Russia in addition. With
these facts in mind, what was the strategic upside to England signing the Entente with
an old enemy? Was it to defend themselves from the growing military threat of
Exploring the Mormons Essay
Exploring the Mormons
Who were the Mormons?
The Mormons were a very different to other people they had a communal life and
this means they try to get other people to follow there religion. The man who
founded the Mormons was Joseph smith a son of a poor family in Vermont. Joseph
smith claimed he saw a vision of an angel in 1823 called Moroni. The vision he had
told him to find some secret hidden golden plates in a hillside called Cumorah in
Palmyra, in the New York state. The plates were then kept hidden for four years,
smith found the plates and four years later he translated what it said on them behind a
curtain, the inscription was written in the book of Mormon published in 1830. There

The first objective smith was to accomplish was to build the HOLY CITY (city of
god). This was not going to be an easy task, Catholics attacked the Mormons
because of there different beliefs. Joseph smith plotted there first temple, after
smith founded a bank for Mormons and non Mormons but through a financial
crisis the bank collapsed. The Mormons were driven out by the non Mormons to
Kirtland; Joseph smith led the Mormons to Missouri where missionaries had
already created a small village. At first the Mormons wasn t accepted for there
religious differences, the people in the community were suspicious of the
Mormon leaders which they believed in communal ownership of there property.
Most Mormons came from the north so they didn t like slavery, and the farmers in
Missouri owned slaves so there were a lot of problems in the community. Violence
increased in the area and fights broke out, so the Mormons created a police force
called the Danites, they believed they were going to win the support of the Indian
tribes. When the Mormons left Missouri they went to Nauvoo Illinois led by smith.
In 1842 the Mormons army was at the size of 2,000. Some rumours were spread that
the Mormons would take over the United States of America because Joseph smith
made a run for president. In the month June 1844 smith and his brother, Hyrum were
sent to prison. From then on the race was run by Brigham

Snow White s case delineates and highlights the intricate factors that can play a role
in the decision that involves long term disability leave. Snow White s case involves
psychotherapy notes, a car accident that left Snow White with a possible temporary
or long term disability. The car accident left Snow White with the inability to work

Afterwards, Snow White was involved in a car accident, in which she was rear
ended and resulted in a condition referred to as connective tissue disorder.
Subsequently, this injury left Snow White unable to work due to a worsening
back pain. She then applied for long term disability leave. In the process her
employer s carrier, Walt Disney Corp. requested for Snow White to sign a broad
release covering her medical records. Three months after, Snow White found that
that she was denied long term disability coverage on the basis of the psychologist s
notes. Apparently, the psychologist s notes stated that Snow White was seeking
employment elsewhere and that she was working on a case. However, the
psychologist s notes are what cost Snow White her request for long term disability
coverage.
Now, Snow White is pondering whether if she has a cause of action case? When it
comes to filing a litigation based on cause of action, the person filing must establish
prima facie (Bennett Alexander Hartman, 2015). Essentially, prima facie is gathering
evidence that fits a cause of action (Bennett Alexander Hartman, 2015). To start Snow
White could appeal the decision made by the employer s carrier or perhaps seek
mediation. Snow White can seek a cause of action against the psychologist based on
defamation. The defamation, is where Snow White would have to prove that the
psychologist s notes tarnished her image, and subsequently cost her long term
disability, her
Examples Of Heroicism In John Updike s Short Story A P
To be heroic means that a person chooses to be brave and do the right thing even if
doing the right thing seems less rewarding, is more difficult, or both. The
protagonist in John Updike s short story A P is not heroic. In the story, the
protagonist sees three girls dressed in only bathing suits enter the store he was
working in, and his manager told them that they were not allowed to wear swimsuits
in the store. Then Sammy stands up for the girls and quits his job in hopes of
impressing them. When examining Sammy motivation, actions, and the other choices
he could have made it is obvious that what he did was not heroic. He decided that
trying to impress a girlthat is a stranger is more important than doing what is right.
Considering the other course of action Sammy could have taken, it would have
required him to be more courageous and do what is just. Being heroic is the
equivalent of being a hero, and Sammy was not a true hero.
To be able to understand why Sammy is not heroic, it is important to consider what
motivated him. The story opens up with three girls who enter a store only wearing
bathing suits and Sammy is clearly attracted to them. Especially, the girl he calls
Queenie as he describes her as being, ...more than pretty (pg. 60). As Sammy is
ringing up her order, he observes Queenie s hand and comments on how she does
not have a ring or a bracelet. Since Queenie does not have a ring or bracelet, Sammy
probably believes that she is single and finds her hand to
A Summary Of I Robot
The book, I Robot is written by Isaac Asimov. I Robot is a science fiction book that
poses philosophical theories about the future and technology effect on humanity.
Along with many other protagonists introduced in the book, Susan Calvin is a
character that develops its detailed characteristics as the plot grows and builds. Dr.
Calvin is a changing character because she goes from a non emotional, inhumane
character to a deep thinking and a caring character as she faces certain situations to
lead her to a change. According to scientific research and studies, it is proven that
people are affected by their surrounding culture, even people like Susan Calvin.
Asimov wrote and published this book in 1950 to express his concerns and to
inform the audience of how humanity s future may turn out to be. The book is based
on the year, 2035, where highly intelligent robots fill public service positions
throughout the world, operating under three rules to keep humans safe. In this future,
scientists discover a conspiracy that many enslave human race using technology and
robotics. Dr. Calvin plays one of the main role in this book since she is a scientist
that has many achievements from her field of robotics. She is a robopsychologist
who uses many different methods of problems solving to solve the problems that
other scientists and mathematicians were incapable of doing. Through these many
adventures in the field of robotics, Dr. Susan Calvin displays her many character

Heinz Ketchup Commercial
My choice of media is an advertisement by Kraft Foods Inc. and I chose it because it s
minimalistic and intriguing. Thesis and Focus How simplicity and authenticity
overrule ostentatious advertisements: A visual analysis of the Heinz ad campaign.
Description In the above advertisement for Heinz ketchup, the company takes an
approach to amaze their audience with the help of abstract art. The featured
advertisement is for Heinz Ketchup. It includes a garish red backdrop. It also features
something that looks like a classic bottle of Heinz ketchup, but actually are
horizontally sliced tomatoes bundled on top of each other in the shape of the classic
ketchup bottle. The text below reads, No one grows ketchup like Heinz. While the
advertisement is simple and minimalistic, the combination of text and picture is
enticing to the targeted consumer. While other ketchup companies have flashy ads

Even an advertisement about a universally known brand has the potential to be
interpreted in various ways. In the Heinz example, a consumer may see the sliced
ketchup bottle as an abstract sculpture, and therefore associate the company with
innovation and art. By stating No one grows ketchup like Heinz , they are saying that
their ketchup uses natural and fresh ingredients, unlike other competing brands.
Ketchup is made in a factory and by any means isn t grown . However, the text below
the picture reads otherwise. By this, the marketers transform a sugary condiment into
a wholesome, raw ingredient. This is clearly an attempt by the advertisers to assign a
healthy connotation to ketchup. Not only are the advertisers attaching a nutritional
aspect to ketchup, they are redefining ketchup perhaps in an attempt to promote a
healthier way of
The Islam Means Peace Or Submission
Research Paper Rough Draft Islam means peace or submission. The followers of
islam are called Muslims. Muslims believe that Allah (God) is the only God, is is a
monotheistic religion. They also believe that Allah is beyond human comprehension,
and we should never try to draw Allah as a being but instead beautiful, yet
complicated patterns. Muslims also believe that Allah cannot become human, it is
logically impossible, and that there were five prophets who were messengers of him,
Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad. Prophet Muhammed was greatly
important to Islam. He is believed to be the final prophet, and he showed people the
way they should live. One day in Makkah, heavy rain damaged the walls of Kaaba.
The black stone fell out the place, and people fell out over who should put it back.
Prophet Muhammad decided on a team effort. The Islamic place of worship is the
Mosque. Muslims do not have priests or any specific leaders, anyone is open to a
sermon. Islam is now becoming increasingly more popular; it is the second largest
world religion after Christianity. Some Muslims believe everyone in the world was
born Muslim and anyone who becomes Muslim does not convert but reverts. Islam
also has the five pillars which are extremely important to Muslims. Islamic views on
things like abortion and euthanasia are almost identical to Catholic beliefs, they
believe in the sanctity of human life. In order to make freedom for Islam religion,
people should not blame Islam

The Experience Side Of Consciousness
Consciousness is part biology, ...each state of consciousness is composed of a
number of basic psychological processes such as memory, thought, sense of time,
body perception and the senses of hearing, smell, taste, and so on , and part
experience. (Wilber 52) I am going to focus on the experience side of consciousness
because it is less concrete than the genetic side. It is a concept that is socially
constructed to define an abstract phenomenon. Consciousness is the awareness of
being conscious. A theory that I believe, regarding why humans seek out altered
states/consciousness, is an evolutionary speculation. Charles Whitehead, in Altered

the cause for people to move from one stage to another. The next phase, Purposeful

Ways To Get Rid Of Your Head Lice It s not just kids that get head lice. Adults get
them too, and it can be difficult to remove them on yourself since you can t see the

followed with lice combing and nit picking. If you don t have someone to help,
you may need to go to a lice removal clinic to get rid of the pests. Whether you treat
your lice yourself or go to a clinic, here are some of the treatment options you can

You can buy some over the counter, and others require a prescription from your
doctor. It s important to read the label so you understand how to use the product
you buy because each one is different. Some are used once and others need a follow
up treatment. Most of them require thorough nit combing after the application.
After using the medication, you should notice the lice stop moving or at least
move much slower, which indicates they are dead or dying. If the lice still seem
active after you ve used the medication, it probably means that pesticide isn t
effective. One problem with lice is they ve become resistant to the pesticides used
in the shampoos designed to kill them. If one medication doesn t work, you may
need to try another, but don t use it or use an additional application until you ve
talked to your doctor. The chemical pesticides used in lice treatments can be toxic,
so you don t want to use more than you should. Also, if you plan to use a product
on your children, be sure it is approved for use on kids. Some products have a lower
weight and age limit, because they are too toxic to use on kids. Heat

Literary Criticism Of Hardy
The novel describes, as Hardy explains in the Preface, the deadly war waged between
flesh and spirit .
In Jude one of the main targets is the institution of marriage.
There is also a new dimension to the criticism in that Hardy, although very tentatively,
suggests possible future alternatives to the existing social organization, alternatives
that would make man s psychological make up less of a liability than at the present.
Hardy shows very clearly that Jude s intellectual ambitions are not hampered by
society alone. The duality of his character is also responsible, and the incompatibility
of head and heart, spirit and flesh is strongly emphasized.
This incompatibility is painted with ironic, but heavy, symbolic strokes at a very
early stage of Jude s intellectual endeavors. On his way home from work one day,
Jude anticipates the pleasures of his ecclesiastical future as a bishop; as he
enumerates the classical works he has to study before taking possession of his see,
he is however, suddenly and rudely smacked on the head by a pig s pizzle. As Jude
catches sight of the thrower of the pig s organ the buxom Arabella ( a complete and
substantial female animal ), the significance of this literal clash is soon clarified. ...

Nevertheless, he again singles out marriage as one of the most damaging institutions
of nineteenth century Christian society in its enslavement of man in general and of
human emotions in particular. Several unhappy marriages are presented: those of
Jude s parents, Jude and Arabella, Sue and Phillotson; even Arabella and Cartlett are
described in their antipathetic, recriminatory mood of the average husband and wife
of Christendom . The most interesting aspect of the criticism of matrimony in Jude,
however, is the explicit scrutiny of the ethics upholding the institution as it is
practiced in modern

Father Rodrigue In Silence
In Silence, a Portuguese missionary named Father Rodrigues travels to Japan in an
effort to convert the Japanese to Christianity. He also hopes to find out the truth
behind rumors that one of his old teachers, Father Ferreira, had become apostate
during his time in Japan. While on his expedition, Father Rodrigues sees and
experiences the torture that Inoue, the magistrate of Chikugo, inflicts on followers
of the Christian faith. However, he allows Japanese Christians to be tortured and
killed because of his refusal to apostatize, which reveals that he may not be as
selfless as he appears outwardly. The first time the Rodrigues sees for himself how
Christianityis punished in Japan is when Mokichi and Ichizo, two villagers who
helped hide him in their town, are tied to two trees that have been made into huge
stakes and set up in the ocean. They are left there to die a slow and painful death.
Even after seeing the two men undergo this suffering, Rodrigues continues traveling

Travel And Tourism In The Philippines
It was on September 21, 1972 when President Ferdinand E. Marcos placed the
Philippines under Martial Law. The President claimed that lawless elements

  • 1. Present Education System Essay Crafting an essay on the current education system is both a challenging and thought-provoking task. The complexity arises from the multifaceted nature of the topic, as it involves analyzing various aspects such as pedagogical methods, curriculum design, institutional structures, socio- economic factors, and the ever-evolving needs of students. Firstly, one must delve into extensive research to gather relevant information and data to support their arguments. This includes studying educational theories, scrutinizing statistical trends, and exploring real-life examples of educational practices. The dynamic nature of the education system necessitates a continuous update of knowledge to provide a comprehensive and up-to- date analysis. Addressing the multitude of perspectives surrounding education is another layer of difficulty. The subject is not only influenced by academic theories but also by cultural, societal, and political factors. Consequently, crafting an essay demands a nuanced approach that considers the diverse opinions and stances on the topic. Balancing a critical evaluation of the system's flaws and merits while proposing constructive solutions adds an additional layer of complexity. Moreover, maintaining coherence and clarity throughout the essay is essential to ensure that the reader can follow the argument seamlessly. Juggling intricate details without losing sight of the overarching theme requires meticulous planning and organization. Additionally, the writer must navigate the fine line between objectivity and subjectivity, presenting a well-informed perspective while acknowledging the inherent subjectivity in discussing education. In conclusion, writing an essay on the present education system is a formidable task that requires in-depth research, critical thinking, and a nuanced understanding of the multifaceted factors at play. Honor in No One Writes to the Colonel and Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Garcia Marquez Every culture in the world has its own unique set of values that they adhere to in life. The most important value to people is their honor. Honor is a very important factor in a person life that they will stop at nothing to make sure it is not lost. This endless pursuit of keeping honor can causes both positive and negative effects to a society. The reason honor is a main driving force in a person s life is for the simple fact that it determines how the society views that person s integrity, honesty and truthfulness to himself and family. In the two novellas No One Writes to the Colonel and Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Garcia Marquez ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Colonel and his wife consequently starve in order to maintain the honor given by the rooster. They conceal this humiliation of poverty by giving a false illusion of who they are to their neighbors. The Colonel believes that starvation is necessary as long as they are honorable to the liberal party and their son. The wife of the Colonel states I [place] stones on to boil so the neighbors wouldn t know that we often go with out food for days (159). The Colonel s wife feels humiliated that they have to live in poverty to maintain honor. In a moment of doubt the Colonel s wife states to the Colonel you can t eat dignity (160). Then the author uses a brief interruption in the setting to show incorrectness in the wife s comment. Garcia uses the interruption of lighting to show that what the wife said was wrong and that lying and maintaining their honor is the most important thing to do. This same idea that maintaining honor can cause a person to live a life of lies is seen in the novella Chronicle of a Death Foretold. The whole town covers up and lies about being involved and having any information about Santiago Nasar s death. They do this because they want to honor the Vicario family by making the murder look justifiable and a strict matter of family honor. The narrator states that, affairs of honor are sacred monopolies, giving access only to those who are part of it

  • 8. The Memory Palace Of Matteo Ricci Analysis Matteo Ricci was a born in Italy in 1552. He became a Jesuit and went a mission to China in 1583. He lived out the rest of his twenty seven years in China, bringing in Western culture and technology, while learning about what China had to offer. In his novel, The Memory Palace of Matteo Ricci, Jonathan Spence retells Ricci s life story, while also adding information about the world at the time. Spence tells Ricci s story in an interesting way, by assigning Chinese characters and images that he believes Ricci would have used in his memory palace, a fictional tool to remember what that took place during his life. The memory palace works by assigning memories to a character or image, so when you think of the image, you can remember the memories associated with it. Spence then breaks up the chapters separately by each image or character and talks about the history and story from Ricci s life associated with the image or character. This essay will primarily focus on chapter four of the novel, though a summary of the themes of chapter six is included as well. In chapter four Spence largely discusses the three main religions of the Western world, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, and then draws parallels with the three largest religions in Chinaat the time, Confucianism, Buddhism, and Daoism. However, these examples are not the only instances where a trio of three religions and belief systems are present. At the end of the Warring States period in China, around 350 BCE, China was

Since Japan was in a great need of cheap labor, Korean workers were recruited during 1920s. In this essay, I am going to discuss the significance of institutional racial discrimination targeted towards Korean workers in interwar Japan as a tool of alienation and exploitation. One of the abiding discernments formed in Karl Marxs Capital is that in the colonies of capitalist nation states the apparitions of the law of the supply and demandof labor are crushed. In the home country, the magnificent allurement of capitalist production can be found in its capability to reproduce the wage laborer by regularly setting him or her free, firing him or her and by creating a surplus population that rests in approximate exteriority to capitalist manufacturing as the prerequisite for the commodification of labor power. Regularly handling labor power as a expendable commodity is hence the way capitalist manufacturing can assure that its most nonexpendable commodity labor power is constantly there by the time capitalist manufacturing encounters so called labor shortages during industrial expansion. It is this reproductive apparatus that enables the smug knavery of the Japanese colonial policymaker to envision and to formalize into normalized principles of economic shift, that owners of labor power who are de facto impelled to enter into a relationship of reliance with the wage form can take part in
  • 12. The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Early Language... From the moment we are born, our environment prepares us for this journey we call life. We learn to communicate both verbally and non verbally. In my opinion and based on three studies, socioeconomic status, the child s gender, the amount of language they hear from their caregivers, word mapping, and social intent all effect the child s vocabulary size. According to Spencer, Clegg, Stackhouse, the links between socioeconomic disadvantage and early languagedevelopment are well documented with reports of up to 50% of young children from areas of socioeconomic is advantage having language delay. According to Pasek, Golinkoff, and Hennon (2006), research states girls showed a quasi linear positive gain in language across secondary school, while boys began with a decline and then accelerated. To begin with, socioeconomic status is categorized an individual s or family s social status regarding income and occupation. I believe children from a low socioeconomic status have a disadvantage in learning language as opposed to a higher socioeconomic status. Language acquisition is the process that humans can perceive, dissect, and understand language. Much research has been conducted on infants and children to support this. According to Spencer, Clegg, and Stackhouse (2012), many young children in that are from areas of social disadvantage learn words at a different pace than their peers that are more advantaged. Many studies have been published to support this. However, one
  • 13. Wife Of Bath Allusion Additionally, The Wife of Bath utilizes biblical and classical mythology allusions to justify why women should be relieved from the expectations of sexual purity. In fact, she makes over 30 references to the Bible, or to Greek and Roman mythology to help expound on her point. At first glance, her arguments are persuasive and seem quite substantial, but upon deeper reflection, almost all of them lack a trustworthy and foundational basis. One interpretation of this, might be that the Wifeof Bath is intentionally twisting scholarly information and biblical texts out of context, to deride and parody religious scholars, like the Friar, who may twist and convolute texts in their own favor. Even without approval from external sources of authority,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This colorful characteristic and her dynamic, three dimensional personality, are what makes her prologue and tale exceptionally captivating. The Wife of Bath, unlike the other pilgrims, spends a significantly longer time telling her prologue than her tale. Her tale seems only to be an allegorical method of underlining her belief that wives should dominate over their husbands. In contrast, she expresses her prologue through the autobiographical genre and this colloquial technique creates an intimate environment for the reader. Her implied audience is not only the reader of The Canterbury Tales, but the listener on the actual pilgrimage from London to Canterbury. As to be expected on a Christian pilgrimage, there are numerous religious figures, including the Prioress, the Knight, the Friar and the Summoner. Perhaps, this fact is the reason why she excessively laces her language with countless mentions of God and heavily relies on Christianity to help prove her point. There is frequent reptition of the hye God (line 60) and the phrase As help me God (line 596) or By God (line 634) are consistently stated, ironically, sometimes directly before promiscuous phrases such as, I was a lusty oon (line 605). Her tale also resembles common folklore tales, as the Wife of Bath attempts to appeal to both

(Beil) Parents are now trying to keep their children from playing sports until they re eighteen. Some people think that forcing athletes to stop playing sports will stop concussions. People should learn how to prevent and how to take care of one, instead of not doing what they love. It is important to understand what a concussion is and how we can determine the state of the problem. Keeping children away from what they love to do isn t fair to them, even though there is a higher risk for their child to suffer from a concussion, because their brains are not fully developed yet. Kids should be able to live their dreams and play whatever sport suits them. If they don t get to play as a child, how will they know if they like the sport or can play it? Then Sammy stands up for the girls and quits his job in hopes of impressing them. When examining Sammy motivation, actions, and the other choices he could have made it is obvious that what he did was not heroic. He decided that trying to impress a girlthat is a stranger is more important than doing what is right. Considering the other course of action Sammy could have taken, it would have required him to be more courageous and do what is just. Being heroic is the equivalent of being a hero, and Sammy was not a true hero. To be able to understand why Sammy is not heroic, it is important to consider what motivated him. The story opens up with three girls who enter a store only wearing bathing suits and Sammy is clearly attracted to them. Especially, the girl he calls Queenie as he describes her as being, ...more than pretty (pg. 60). As Sammy is ringing up her order, he observes Queenie s hand and comments on how she does not have a ring or a bracelet. Since Queenie does not have a ring or bracelet, Sammy probably believes that she is single and finds her hand to

Even an advertisement about a universally known brand has the potential to be interpreted in various ways. In the Heinz example, a consumer may see the sliced ketchup bottle as an abstract sculpture, and therefore associate the company with innovation and art. By stating No one grows ketchup like Heinz , they are saying that their ketchup uses natural and fresh ingredients, unlike other competing brands. Ketchup is made in a factory and by any means isn t grown . However, the text below the picture reads otherwise. By this, the marketers transform a sugary condiment into a wholesome, raw ingredient. This is clearly an attempt by the advertisers to assign a healthy connotation to ketchup. Not only are the advertisers attaching a nutritional aspect to ketchup, they are redefining ketchup perhaps in an attempt to promote a healthier way of

  • 37. Literary Criticism Of Hardy The novel describes, as Hardy explains in the Preface, the deadly war waged between flesh and spirit . In Jude one of the main targets is the institution of marriage. There is also a new dimension to the criticism in that Hardy, although very tentatively, suggests possible future alternatives to the existing social organization, alternatives that would make man s psychological make up less of a liability than at the present. Hardy shows very clearly that Jude s intellectual ambitions are not hampered by society alone. The duality of his character is also responsible, and the incompatibility of head and heart, spirit and flesh is strongly emphasized. This incompatibility is painted with ironic, but heavy, symbolic strokes at a very early stage of Jude s intellectual endeavors. On his way home from work one day, Jude anticipates the pleasures of his ecclesiastical future as a bishop; as he enumerates the classical works he has to study before taking possession of his see, he is however, suddenly and rudely smacked on the head by a pig s pizzle. As Jude catches sight of the thrower of the pig s organ the buxom Arabella ( a complete and substantial female animal ), the significance of this literal clash is soon clarified. ... The most interesting aspect of the criticism of matrimony in Jude, however, is the explicit scrutiny of the ethics upholding the institution as it is practiced in modern

He also hopes to find out the truth behind rumors that one of his old teachers, Father Ferreira, had become apostate during his time in Japan. While on his expedition, Father Rodrigues sees and experiences the torture that Inoue, the magistrate of Chikugo, inflicts on followers of the Christian faith. However, he allows Japanese Christians to be tortured and killed because of his refusal to apostatize, which reveals that he may not be as selfless as he appears outwardly. The first time the Rodrigues sees for himself how Christianityis punished in Japan is when Mokichi and Ichizo, two villagers who helped hide him in their town, are tied to two trees that have been made into huge stakes and set up in the ocean.
