Child Development Explanations And Understanding
Child development explanations and understanding is a complicated process and it is hard deciding
the right process to use with each child. Many individuals and doctors have their own way of thinking
how the body and mind develops. Their ideas have no right or wrong answers and are mere guesses of
human growth. No one idea can be applied directly to a person, without looking at another idea also.
To prove these explanations of psychology, scientific methods are used. Teachers may use all patterns
of ideas in their lesson planning for children.
Teachers choose what ideas to apply in the classroom by what is best proven, and what is in the best
interest of the child. They must also look at what has been effective in their teaching in the past. If the
idea does not work, then it should be removed from the class, replaced or changed. Each idea has their
strong points as well as their weak ones. To avoid the extreme differences in psychology opinions of
the ideas you must use the common methods offered. It is hard for teachers to apply one idea to
different children, this is due to the fact that none of use grow up the exact same way. For children to
have the chance of becoming who and what they want, we must not put all of them in the same box,
this is to keep choice free in life. To summarize it definitely helps when you understand the great
philosophers and their processes.
Theorist Jean Piaget, believed that individuals add and change their points of view of

The Uniform Crime Report And The National Crime...
From the day our government began to keep an accounting of criminal activity, there have been
arguments over crime statistics. The Uniform Crime Report (UCR), Self Report Surveys (SRS), and
the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) are three methods in which the government collects
data, and monitors criminal activity in the United States. The Uniform Crime Reports, Self Report
Surveys, and the National Crime Victimization Survey each have both positive and negative attributes
that have influenced different aspects of society. The Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) provides official
crime totals for the United States since 1929. It is a program of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The UCR Program is a voluntary city, university and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the strengths of the UCR are commendable and beneficial, they are overshadowed by its
weakness. It lacks in areas such as: the UCR covers a limited scope of crimes, it gives a narrow
approach or definition to crimes, and the statistics of the crimes can be misleading since it is based on
arrest statistics. The major flaw with the UCR is that it relies on arrests, which rely on citizens actually
reporting that a criminal offense has taken place. The total number of criminal acts that occur is
unknown, but those that are reported to the police provide the first means of a count. Not all crimes
come readily to the attention of the police; not all crimes are of sufficient importance to be significant
statistically, and not all important crimes occur with enough regularity to be meaningful statistically.
Self report surveys of victimization have become commonplace in discussions of crime and criminal
justice policy. Changes in the rates at which residents of the country are victimized by crime have
taken a place alongside the Federal Bureau of Investigation index of crimes known to the police as
widely used indicators of the state of society and the efficacy of its governance (Cantor Lynch, 2000).
Self report methods of criminal victimization have become a more commonly used tool in
criminology and

Destruction Of Louisiana Essay
Louisiana is gradually declining in size due to the loss of coastal marshes and wetlands. After several
years, Louisiana has a big probability of having no land whatsoever. The problem is slowly getting
larger, and if something isn t performed, soon enough Louisiana will be a place that only contains
water. Regarding coastal erosions, it alters places economically, environmentally, and socially. Natural
events happen that leads to the destruction of Louisiana s wetlands; however, human activities causes
it too. First of all, Louisiana s economy is abundantly affected in this catastrophe. Fishing industry is
greatly impacted because if the coastal marshes disappears, then the animals won t have anywhere to

Instead of sustaining marshes, it adds on to the problem. From page 36, it states, They direct river
water straight into the Gulf of Mexico, where it no longer deposits sediment along the coast. Levees
have the capability to stop the sediment, and that s a huge detriment to the marshes. Therefore, levees
can t support the marshes that well and keep the sea level rise. Although, the blame can be also
directed to human activities. Agriculture, cutting down forests, oil drilling, and constantly constructing
building, roads, and cities. For example, from page 13, it explicitly shows, The search for oil in the
coastal marshes has hastened coastal erosion. People might not recognize right away, but rash
decisions can quickly endanger wetlands and marshes. If Louisiana gets smaller, people who live there
can be slightly in fault. Every decision can result with consequences. Even if the human population
were the cause to this humungous problem, natural causes are part of the reasons as to why Louisiana
is losing too much land every hour. Such as having salt water in Baton Rouge s water. From page 37,
it states, The slower river current would allow saltwater from the Gulf of Mexico to intrude up the
Mississippi River as far as Baton Rouge. Saltwater isn t healthy, and it s best if it s blocked to
approach clean water. There are already too much expenses, and health problems will only add up to

How Did The Great Awakening Influence The Role Of Religion...
Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, a series of religious revivalist movements took place in the
English colonies of North America. Born out of the declining religious devotion of many colonists, the
revival, known as the Great Awakening, created a new form of Christianity and transformed how
religion was viewed in the colonies. This monumental event had long term effects on North America,
some of which continue to be felt even today. The most notable long term effects included the
transformation of Protestantism and religious worship, the spread of revolutionary zeal due to the
establishment of the American spirit, and the emergence of higher education in America.
The Great Awakening had many lasting effects, one of which was the transformation of religion in
America. The movement gave birth to a new branch of Christianity, known as evangelical Christianity,
as well as a new style of preaching. Traveling preachers used emotion and passion to ignite fear and
piety in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Great Awakening taught people that challenging previous authority, such as the church, was
allowed. People could speak out against the establishment and choose to have their own ideas
regarding religion and society. Thus, people were later less hesitant to speak out against British
authority. Furthermore, the Great Awakening unified people and created a distinct identity. As they
now could choose their religion and lifestyle, people bonded over their similarities and ways of living.
The church, whose authority stemmed from England, was rejected, and thus, the British influence on
people lessened. It was this that allowed people to break free from the British during the Revolution,
as they were now acting as their own entity, rather than a part of Britain. They wanted to preserve their
own freedoms and lifestyles rather than succumb to British authority, which fueled revolutionary

Essay on Culture Clash and Dispossession and Indigenous...
CASE STUDY ANALYSIS
Introduction:
It is amazing to note that humans are a type of species that can smartly organize and form a
community. Several of these communities create their cultural norms and beliefs that make their
society a place to live. Willis, K. and Elmer, S. (2007, p3), defines society as the identifying pattern of
behaviour, meanings and beliefs in order to uncover the links between individual lives and social
forces.
Accepting this definition as a fact, the analysis of this case study will take into consideration culture
clash, the history of indigenous dispossession, and contemporary health issues faced by indigenous
people. Subtopics on the models of health and the transcultural theories protruded by the study are ...

Eckermann, A K. et al (2006) defines culture clash as the disagreement of two cultures and believes
that cultures in conflict find it difficult to understand each other and consequently difficult to adapt to
one another and if they do not share language, similar lifestyles and expectations, are not committed to
similar goals and motivated by mutually understandable ambitions, conflict and clash will occur.
When culture clash and conflict, involve two groups with unequal powers, the less powerful, as

Persuasive Essay On Christmas Research Paper
The most collectively celebrated holiday of the year is undeniably December 25th, Christmas. Most
people acknowledge that the Christ in Christmas is representative of Jesus Christ, Son of God, and for
Christians, the day is set aside as a celebration of his birth. Many people in the United States (and
world) however, either do not believe in the Christian view of Christmas, have different non Christian
religious beliefs or celebrate for other reasons, if at all. Because of the multi cultural differences that
incorporate our country, Christmas should be declared by Congress as simply a Federal Holiday. This
would be achieved if the dominant Christ aspect from Christ mas was removed by renaming the
holiday to The Winter Holiday, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many secular traditions have been incorporated in America over the last 140 years including tree
decorating, exchanging cards and gifts, non religious Christmas songs, Santa Claus, twinkling lights,
among many other traditions. Some of these traditions were expanded from religious traditions for
example; gift giving is based on the belief that The Three Wise Men brought gifts to Jesus in the
manger. However commercialism has long owned this tradition and in fact, it has been widely
recognized that Thanksgiving Day and Christmas are necessary for getting the economy moving and
out of the red hence; Black Friday, the first day of the holiday shopping season. It is also true that
President Franklin D. Roosevelt moved Thanksgiving to the fourth Thursday of November in order to
extend the holiday shopping season for precisely this purpose.
Congress declared December 25th a federal holiday in the United States in 1870. President Ulysses S.
Grant signed the bill to enact Christmas along with 3 other holidays: New Year s, July 4th and
Thanksgiving as public holidays. Many people however believe that including Christmas with these
secular holidays was an error because back then Christmas only meant the celebration of Jesus birth,
which is construed by many as a conflict of the separation of church and state. The First Amendment
of our Constitution clearly states, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of

Compare And Contrast Essay On The Enlightenment
The Age of Reason, also known as the Enlightenment, took place in Europe in the 18th century. It
became a time period that consisted of new knowledge and wisdom. People began to see the world in
a different way, and began to think more logically. The Enlightenment was a major turning point in
Europe since it led to new scientific discoveries, a secular way of viewing religion, and a shift in the
way the government ruled.
Before the Enlightenment philosophical ideas were not supported with evidence and just assumed to
be correct. Many people in European society did not question or argue ideas shared by respected
scientists. For example, many believed Aristotle in his belief that Earth was the center of the universe.
Aristotle also thought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before the Enlightenment, God was viewed as the creator of everything. Many believed that God
controlled every aspect of life, and many concepts were credited to God. Yet when the idea of thinking
with reason and logic came to light, people stopped using God as an explanation for everything. A
new, secular view on religion began to form, which meant some people questioned religion while
others found scientific explanations for God s existence. For example, many people believed in
Deism. Deists believed that God made the world and then had no interaction with the events that
occured. Deism said that God made it possible for people to discover laws as well as apply reason to
ideas. Others believed in Pantheism which stated that nature and God were the same thing. All these
new beliefs that came to light affected European society by helping minimize the reliance on religion
and emphasize logical reasoning. The idea of questioning religion and tradition during the
Enlightenment can be compared to the Reformation in 16th century. During the Reformation, religion
was questioned in terms of papal authority, while in the Enlightenment, religion is questioned on terms
of logic and reason. Both times in history led to more secular views on

Don Quixote
What giants? [says] Sancho, amazed, (Cervantes 36). Those giants you see over there with long arms:
some of them have them well nigh two leagues in length, [replies] his master, (Cervantes 36).
In Chapter 7 of Don Quixote, Miguel de Cervantes portrays Don Quixote as an idealistic character
who believes that the windmills are giants, and because of this, it can be said that Don Quixote has a
crazy mind that creates objects to be something they are not. Don Quixote is a chivalric romance and
takes place at the period of the Spanish Inquisition; however, Cervantes Xportrays a lunatic man who
goes on adventures throughout La Mancha, Spain as a knight errant. Throughout this novel shows
Quixote being quixotic. Quixotic deals with extravagant chivalry or romance, followed by seeing

s reaction towards these windmills are caused by his thinking that he is a real knight errant, and his
duty of a knight errant is to fight in battles and conquer the giants. Another example is in Chapter 18,
when Quixote and Panza are traveling, and Quixote sees clouds of dust caused by a battle of two

why they impacted the text. Including both of these characters within the same paragraph affected the
interpretation of how each character was significant to the story. It also limited the space I had to
analyze a single character within that same scene in depth. For essay three, I had to revise and edit
essay one, and strengthen the argument I presented. I chose to split this paragraph and focus on only
one character for each paragraph. In the opening scene which takes place at the Watson s home, Doyle

incapable of handling a situation herself. The new topic sentence improved my essay s organization by

the findings. This included exclusion of proposed etiological factors for RAU, such as Behcet s,

means that there was a lack of previous evidence to support their findings. Only 89/240 subjects from

coping with the allergy.
What is a Shellfish Allergy?
A shellfish allergy is an allergic reaction caused by contact with or consumption of shellfish. An
allergic reaction to shellfish can range from mildly uncomfortable to life threatening and while some
food allergies diminish or go away with age a shellfish allergy is typically a lifelong allergy that can

A Shellfish Allergy can affect your life in many ways. When going out to eat the sufferer must be
aware of their surroundings if they are sensitive to the proteins in steam from cooking shellfish as well
as cross contamination. Avoiding all contact is the best way to avoid a reaction. According to FAAN,
There appears to be no cross reactivity between fish and shellfish, but an individual can be allergic to
both. Fish and shellfish allergic individuals should avoid touching fish or shellfish, going to a fish
market, and being in an area where fish or shellfish are being cooked. Fish and shellfish protein can
become airborne in the steam released during cooking and can cause an allergic reaction....To avoid
seafood allergic reactions avoid eating in seafood restaurants if you are allergic to fish or shellfish,
even if you intend to order a meat or poultry dish. The chance of cross contact between the food

Internal Lobe Research Paper
There are four lobes that make up the complex organ that we call the brain. Each of these parts or
lobes have different functions that range from reasoning to auditory perception and make that
particular person so unique. Some people have stronger and well more developed lobes in which is
why not everyone is the same and could mean one section is inferior to the rest. To begin with, the
frontal lob, which is located in the front of the human head, is associated with reasoning, higher level
cognition, language, and motor skills. Behind the frontal lobe lies the motor cortex in which is the part
where the brain receives an ample amount of information. The information that was mentioned are
from various lobes of the brain and helps the body with movements. Another section of the brain,
located in the middle is called the parietal lobe. This lobe, is in charge of processing tactile sensory
information. Touch, pain, and pressure are essential to a persons everyday life and without it could
lead to naturalistic numbness. A portion of the brain, known as the somatosensory cortex, is located in
this major lobe and helps to the stages of processing body senses. The Occipital lobe, found in the
very rear of the head governs the ability of interpreting visual stimuli and information. A primary

Is My Team Plowing by A.E. Housman Essay
The Afterlife ...a very curious subject that we as humans want to know about, we never want to
experience it but we wonder what it would be like. Me as an individual, I am fascinated by the endless
amount of ways life could be after death, if there even is life after death. Maybe one day you have the
gloomy ,and desirable curiosity questions floating in your head like, do they miss me, or have they
moved on already? In Is my Team Plowing , by A.E. Housman, the emotional speaker discusses how
life goes on after death. The speaker, who is thought to be the friend of a dead man, is guilty for
moving on in life and having relations with his deceased friend s wife, so he is having a moment of
guilt in his head or else that s how I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People will eventually be forgotten, and life will continue on earth for everyone else. The poem
structure is an eight stanza quatrain with a rhyme scheme of ABCB. Is football playing / Along the
river shore, / With lads to chase the leather, / Now I stand up no more? (Housman 9 12). Each stanza
alternates between questions from the dead man and answers from his friend. Stanzas that are quoted
represent the dead man s questions. The stanzas without quotations are responses from the friend who
is alive. Each stanza is significant because it reveals a little background of some of the things the dead
man participated in. The speaker of the poem is a matter of opinion and how you look at things. One
outcome is that it s the dead man literally talking to his friend in some way and they are discussing
life. The second thought is that the friend is having internal conflict with himself with the fact that he
got with the dead man s wife. The purpose is to communicate emotionally a certain truth about human
life; life goes on after our deaths. Very similar to the way life was before your death.
It also emphasizes the humans sense of betray and guilt that may follow after the death of a friend.

The Never-Ending War Against Bacteria and Viruses Essay...
The enemy is everywhere. Trillions of them surround you, invisible, intangible, their mere existence
quite capable of killing you. You have defenses, but they can avoid or destroy those defenses and work
their will upon your body. From bacteria and viruses, there is no escape. Throughout human history,
we have been at war with them... the front lines our very bodies. It is a war we are not winning. We
have developed few effective tactics against them. Our oldest tactic, sterilization, was first used circa
3000 B.C. when the Egyptians used antiseptics such as pitch and tar in the creation of their mummies.

One bacterial strain developed resistance against our most recent antibiotic, Zyvox, less than a year
after its release. There are so many bacteria, and they evolve so rapidly, that they will develop
defenses to any chemical attack we make. Bacteria have even been known to develop resistance to
bleach and other harsh chemicals (6). They are faster than we are. While we can slow them down
through more responsible use of our antibiotics, if we do not change our approach, we will lose. There
are two significant alternate approaches we could use to target and kill bacteria. One potential
alternate approach to the treatment of infectious disease is utilizing monoclonal antibodies to
supplement our own immune systems. Monoclonal antibodies are pure cultures of antibodies (the
body s primary foreign substance detection molecules) artificially produced to react to a single
specific substance or protein. By utilizing monoclonal antibodies to treat bacterial infection, we would
be flagging the bacteria for the body s immune system to come kill them. As the body already flags
bacteria to some extent, all monoclonal antibodies can do is enhance the activity of the immune
system, which would be ineffective in people with compromised immune systems. Additionally,
monoclonal antibodies would have to be developed for each individual strain of bacteria, and bacteria
could easily change and render the antibody useless. While it would

The Effect Of Social Media On Organization Branding
The Effect of Social Media on Organization Branding
Jianmo Zhang
University of Southern California
Media has been the main channel through which marketers convey their brand messages and promote
their products since 18th century. The traditional marketing model, which is the combination of
companies, advertising agencies, and media, has worked well ever since. However, with the rise of
Internet, the key role in branding played by conventional media, which comprises print media and
broadcast media, has been increasingly challenged (Palmer Koenig Lewis, 2009). Marketing budgets
has been greatly shifted to online channels (Jennings, 2007).
Notwithstanding it simplified the process of marketing to some extend, online channel is never easy to
manage. Instead, it includes multiple formats of communication aiming at variety of target customers,
such as banner ads appearing on web sites, personalized e mails sent by organization marketers and so
forth (Palmer Koenig Lewis, 2009). Consistent with this media revolution, in recent years, social
media, which further decrease the cost of communication for companies tremendously, has become a
major hit in marketing and media field (Palmer Koenig Lewis, 2009).
In existing research, Social media is defined as: online applications, platforms and media which aim to
facilitate interactions, collaborations and the sharing of content (Universal Maccann International,
2008, p. 10). It has become the representative of

Important Aspects Of A Functioning Classroom
Through this past semester, we have heavily discussed the important aspects of a functioning
classroom, from different theorists to helpful teaching techniques. We ve debated what it means to be
a great teacher. There are quite a few flaws in our education system today, but I believe most of the
theories we discussed could be accorporated much more in the classroom. John Dewey, Friedrich
Froebel, Maria Montessori, and Lev Vygotsky all understood the way children think and the
importance of imaginative play. They also understood that children need to be active in nature. Also,
we have discussed different forms of learning, such as project based learning, and outdoor classrooms.
In my opinion, the education system should have minor changes that benefit the students more.
Despite the various flaws, schools are extremely important for students especially on a social stand
point. They can be around children their own age and interact in various scenarios. Socializing is
important for children of all ages, it helps them develop listening skills, communication skills, how to
share, how to work in groups, and compromise. Every interaction a child has is a learning experience.
They learn what is right or wrong and how to communicate appropriately, social interaction plays a
key role in cognitive development. Lev Vygotsky was a cognitive theorist who believed social
interaction and imaginative play were critical in child development. Imaginative play is actually a

Association, seven out of ten candles are used in homes and result in an increase in the amount of fires

The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In The Workplace
The Importance of Cultural Diversity
Cultural diversity is defined as The existence of a variety of cultural or ethnic groups within a society
(Oxford, 2017). Within the workplace there have been a trend towards promoting diversity by
maintaining a workforce with workers differ in area such as race, sexual orientation, age, and gender.
This is often times a daunting and difficult task for management. Effective communication can be
challenging for diverse groups. Language barriers for example may cause confusion leading to
conflict. Another risk to implementing diversity in the workplace is that some employees feel that
individuals may have gained their respective position unjustly. Conversely, differing employees may
feel out of place and not assimilate well with the rest of the group (Kirby Richard, 2000). Promoting
cultural diversity is not just relegate to the hiring of diverse individuals; rather the organization must
also seek to create and maintain policies, procedures, training, and even incentives to truly cultivate a
positive culturally diverse environment (Patrick and Kumar 2012). With all the time, money, and
effort necessary to create and maintain a diverse work environment, leaders are left wondering what if
any, benefits can be gained by promoting cultural diversity.
Research indicates that there are several valuable assets to fostering cultural diversity in the
workplace. Firstly, the makeup of the labor pool is changing. There has been a steady increase

With the economic recovery of the European Union, new threats arise to challenge Ryanair such as an
emerging budget air carrier market, fluctuating fuel prices, and controversial customer relations.
Examined in this paper will be the internal cost accounting factors that affect the firm as well as an

Many air carriers were denied use of the air space in another country simply due to nations holding a
strong opposition to commercial air competition. In 1986, Ryanair obtained permission to service the
airline s second route running from Dublin, Ireland to London Luton and compete directly with British
Airways. This permission was given by each host nation that had begun a progressive movement
towards the liberalization of air travel between European Union (EU) nation states.
From 1987 to 1990 Ryanair opened an additional 17 Routes and begins to emulate jet travel into the
route structure. However, during this period Ryan air continued to emulate the standard business
model due to continued fare regulation as well as a lack of innovation. Deregulation of air travel with
European Union members had not yet taken full effect, and thus led to continued high operating costs
and losses for Ryanair. Ryanair eliminated the frequent flyers program as well as no longer offering
business class which caused a continued increase in passenger traffic but still had the airline operating
at a loss. In 1987, Michael O Leary was hired by Tony Ryan as a tax and personal finance director. O
Leary was soon tasked with aiding in the restructuring of Ryanair in an effort to return the airline s
profitability. O Leary is a believer of a low fare

A Contemporary Analysis Of Accounting Professionals Work...
A research paper is only considered valuable if it is both valid and reliable in measuring the constructs
that it claims to. This paper is aimed at evaluating the validity and reliability of the research paper
titled A Contemporary Analysis of Accounting Professionals Work Life Balance by Buchheit, Dalton,
Harp and Hollingsworth, published in the Accounting Horizons Journal in March 2016 in its first issue
of volume 30. The research paper endeavoured to provide answers for two main research questions
that were aimed at scrutinising the difference between 1. auditors and tax professionals in terms of
their work life conflict, burnout and perceptions regarding alternative work arrangements (AWA)
across all sizes of public accounting firms, and 2. accounting professionals perceptions of AWAs in

Diffusion Is The Net Movement Essay
NAME: Partrice Davis (Isata Sheriff, Marianne Fafana, Binta Bojang)
TITLE: Dye Diffusion
INTRODUCTION Diffusion is the net movement in which molecules of a substance move from a
various area of high concentration to more substances of lower concentration. Properties of diffusion
is the speed of diffusion is influenced by the size of molecule and temperature. The rate of diffusion
will depend on the ability of the diffusing molecule to dissolve in the lipid bilayer of the membrane.
The rate of diffusion across a membrane is directly proportional to the surface area of the membrane.
Diffusion is often referred to as the net motion of particles from areas of high concentration to areas of
low concentration. The solute is a substance that can be dissolved in a mixture or solution usually in
smaller amounts. Factors that would affect the rate consist of the size of the gradient, molecule size,
electric charge, lipid solubility, temperature, and the presence of membrane channel proteins.
Substances involved in diffusion include gas, small organic ions, and molecules, and lipid soluble
materials. Simple diffusion is the unsupported transport across a plasma membrane of the lipid
soluble. Certain particles like alcohol, fatty acids, and steroids are able to enter cells easily because
they can diffuse through the lipid portion of the membrane. Lipid soluble drugs such as oxygen,
carbon dioxide, and water may be able to enter and leave the cells by diffusing through the

The Importance Of Art Funding For Education Essay
The Importance of Art Funding
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, art is defined as something that is created with
imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings ( Art ). With
that being said, it is almost essential that art is maintained as a general course required for every
student to take. While having art classes in schools available for students is important, it is also
equally as important for the school funding for the art programs to be regulated throughout each
district. By using a simple student to teacher ratio to determine how much money should be allotted to
each teacher, this reoccurring problem could be solved for good.
One of the main problems in the art program throughout the United States is the regulation of funding
within the program. For example, while one teacher has one hundred students and another may have
seventy, the teacher with seventy students gets a budget of five hundred dollars when the teacher with
one hundred gets only three hundred and fifty. On top of that, not only is it unfair to the individual
teachers, but it is also happening all over the United States to teachers in the same district. In an article
about secondary art programs, it states that the art teacher at School Number Two was operating with
78% of the funds as the teacher at School Number One. Because the two schools are within the same
district, this is a difference that seemingly defies explanation (Kraft 55). While

humanity because son is killing the father for the piece of bread, therefore valuing his survival over
that of his own father. The piece of bread is the symbol used in this evidence because it is what the son
was murdering his own father for. Furthermore, Elie dislikes the lack of humanity when soldiers throw

humanity because the soldiers throw food into the wagon as if they would feed pigs which could also
categorize as loss of identity. They are all alike there is no difference between the men in the wagon.
The symbol of bread represent lack of humanity because the bread pieces can be a tool for the soldiers
to play around with. Therefore, these evidences prove that people want to save their own life than
saving others in cost of their

Things Fall Apart Culture
Chinua Achebe makes many comments throughout his writings in Things Fall Apart about the belief
systems that the people of the Ibo culture follow. During the novel the Ibo people identifies
themselves as an agricultural society, they are very dependent on their crops they grow. Throughout
the story the people of Umuofia are reliant on their production of crops, especially yams. Similar to
The Lottery , their town believes in superstitious ideas in order to feel as though they are in control.
Having a community based on agriculture is risky and there is no control how the weather chooses to
react, so their community is superstitious to feel some sort of command. Chinua Achebe comments
that the Ibo culture follows strict illogical rules based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Achebe seems to be commenting that the Ibo culture follows strict invalid laws based on superstitions
also if they do not grasp the meaning of something, they seem to think it is evil as part of their
superstition and send it into the Evil Forest. The fact that they seem to think things that they do not
understand are evil, is very similar to the society in Anthem. The Ibo peoples unwillingness to try new
ideas and look into them is like the World Council in Anthem. Achebe s way of portraying the Ibo
culture gives you an idea as to what their beliefs are like. Chinua Achebe s motives behind the way the
Ibo people are portrayed seems to be to inform us on their strict beliefs and how truly credulous they

Essay On Police Brutality
This topic police brutality is so important to our because Police is brutality is so big right now and we
cant people have innocent people in the streets getting shot for doing what they re supposed to be
doing. Why we are talking about this is because we have to make a change and stop what is going on.
Police have been targeting black lives and there a holding them at gunpoint and shooting them before
they even get a trail or can go to court. We as in all of us shouldn t be scared to walk outside or they
shouldn t be scared to see a police. Police are here to protect us and it feels like we are at war with
them right now but there are supposed to protect us. Police brutality is a major issue in the present day
all throughout the United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to stop the fight we have to speak up, gather together, and protest peacefully without any need
for harm to come our way, or the police way. There is a major issue with police brutality within the
confinements of the United States of America, within society in general. The problem of police
brutality is not just a problem with African American, it is spread throughout all the races. Mr.
Castellani who is 20 years old, yelling and pointing at officers, who are posted down the street, after
his ejection from an Atlantic City casino for being underage. Four officers rush him, take him down
and begin beating him a fifth officer soon joins in. (The Baltimore,Leonard Pitts Jr.). It just so
happened that this man was black and had been brutally attacked by police because he said something
they didn t like it. It isn t always African Americans that are attacked thought, in 2014 Donovan
Duran, a Colorado MMA fighter, was beat and dragged to the hospital by police men claiming Duran
was intoxicated and hallucinating. He was brutally attacked because of what he believed in, it didn t
have anything to do with his skin color, as he was attacked by white police man and Duran turned out
to be a Caucasian man with a family and a job. All of that was taken away from him the moment the
cops dragged him into the hospital claiming he wasn t right in the head and the cops found him like
that. In 2014 Donovan Duran, a Colorado MMA fighter, was beat and dragged to the

The Importance Of Flashbulb Memories
How can a human forget to turn the lights off when they leave the house, but remember exactly where
they were when JFK was assassinated? The answer to this phenomenon has long been researched and
the answer is a term referred to as flashbulb memories, which can be defined as a detailed and vivid
memory that is stored on one occasion and retained for a lifetime (Schachter, Gilbert, Wegner, Nock,
2015). These memories can be composed of insignificant but vivid details about the situation in which
the news was received (Demiray Freund, 2015). Flash bulb memories are believed to encompass
various memories including positive and negative events that have affected entire nations or just one
individual, and have correlation with age, proximity, and importance. ... Show more content on

Unfortunately, just as not all memories are positive not all flashbulb memories are positive. A negative
flash bulb memory may be an American remembering exactly where they were when JFK was
assassinated, while a positive memory for the same individual may be remembering exactly where
they were when they learned of Osama Bin Laden s assassination. The idea that one type of flashbulb
memory is more likely to be created than the other has long been debated. A recent study by Demirav
and Freund shows that neither of these memories appears to be more prevalent than the other. There
participants of various ages and ethnicities were asked two recall the death of both Michael Jackson
(negative flashbulb memory) and Osama Bin Laden (positive flashbulb memory), while both
memories had different effects emotionally on the participants the recollection of a flash bulb memory
was the same (Demirav and

The War On The World
Fundamentally speaking, warfare is the means by which human society has been organized. The
modern world is divided up into a number of states whose sovereignty is based either on the results of
warfare or the threat of warfare. The ability of a states to wage and win wars is what determines the
geopolitical pecking order. Those who cannot hope to win wars alone pursue policies and deals that
ensure the intervention of more capable states in their defense, should one come about. Domestic
policies and cultural developments, as well, are understood as wars: at this very moment, there is a
War on Drugs, a War on Terror, a War on Women, a War on Poverty, even an alleged War on
Christmas. Indeed, the uneasy peace that exists between the world s current superpowers is a result of
the expected outcome of Nuclear War. The nature of war, being so essential to the shape and nature of
the world we live in, must be understood. To aid us in our own understanding of war, we can benefit
tremendously from exploring the ways in which war was practiced, understood, and experienced by
our cultural and ideological progenitors, the Greeks and Romans of Classical Antiquity. Classical
Greek warfare can be best understood through the manner in which it was practiced: hoplite warfare.
Hoplite warfare was communitarian, strictly organized and ritualistic. This particular style of combat
shaped and was shaped by the culture in which it developed. In a traditional hoplite battle, men armed

The Loss Of Evil In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
As the cynical philosopher Thomas Hobbes postulated, all humans possess an innate wickedness that
will provoke chaos in a state of nature. This philosophy can be applied to the boys looming barbarity
depicted in William Golding s Lord of the Flies, as their savagery aggrandizes overtime in their island
that was once a paradise a natural environment without civilization and supervision. The boys
eventually come to the point of destroying one another as well as nature, and these occurrences are
epitomized by scars. In this novel, scars symbolize the wayward savagery of the boys that emerges
ever since their arrival, the violence of nature that responds to their lack of civility, and the loss of
innocence due to the inherent evils of humans.
The scars illustrated throughout the novel connect the violence from the boys to reality, depicting the
permanent blight mankind has brought upon the island and the capacity humans posses to become
savage. After the plane crashes, Ralph wanders about and observes that All round him the long scar
smashed into the jungle was a beat of it. He was clambering heavily among the creepers and broken
trunks when a bird, a vision of red and yellow, flashing upwards with a witch like cry (7). The island
full of birds and lush jungles was a blank slate, as it was once unscathed by the evils of humanity;
however, the plane crash introduces an unsightly scar on the island that will never disappear as scars
never heal completely. This scar reflects

The Economic Impact Of The 1893 Chicago World s Fair
The 1893 Chicago World s Fair, more formally known as the Columbian Exposition, was a fair
constructed to celebrate Columbus arrival in the New World. Chicago was known as the White City,
but did not appear as pure and spotless as its name suggested. For instance, there were many ways one
could get killed. Fire took a dozen lives a day...There was diphtheria, typhus, cholera, influenza. And
there was murder. (Larson 12). These unstoppable causes of death was one of the reasons Chicago s
reputation was tarnished. Furthermore, the Panic of 1893 struck and greatly affected the city of
Chicago. The Panic s effects included financial crises , bankruptcy , and high rates of unemployment
and homelessness . (Panic of 1893). Because of the city s economic depression, the fair would decide
whether Chicago s circumstances would improve or deteriorate. Eventually, the 1893 Chicago s World
Fair displayed what America would soon become in an industrial, military, and economic perspective.
First, the World s Columbian Exposition would soon showcase what America could become. The fair
produced the invention of many of the world s leading brands today, some of which include Juicy
Fruit gum, Aunt Jemima syrup, and Cracker Jack Popcorn. They sampled a new, oddly flavored gum
called Juicy Fruit, and a caramel coated popcorn called Cracker Jack (Larson 247). These world
famous companies started out insignificant and were able to grow because of the influence of the
World s Fair. Another

Tantrums In Toddlers
At the beginning of my search, I started with the question What causes tantrums in toddlers and how
can parents handle them? I was having a hard time because I was not sure how to combine both
questions to get one answer as my thesis. In the last class session, some of my classmates suggested
me that I should just focus in only one question, instead of both. I took into consideration their
feedback. Therefore, I decided to use only one question, which is What causes temper tantrums in
toddlers? After that, I initiated my search on the web and found a lot of information about this topic.
Since the purpose of my paper is to give information about why toddlers have temper tantrums, the
hardest part was to find articles that relate to the same

  • 2. Child Development Explanations And Understanding Child development explanations and understanding is a complicated process and it is hard deciding the right process to use with each child. Many individuals and doctors have their own way of thinking how the body and mind develops. Their ideas have no right or wrong answers and are mere guesses of human growth. No one idea can be applied directly to a person, without looking at another idea also. To prove these explanations of psychology, scientific methods are used. Teachers may use all patterns of ideas in their lesson planning for children. Teachers choose what ideas to apply in the classroom by what is best proven, and what is in the best interest of the child. They must also look at what has been effective in their teaching in the past. If the idea does not work, then it should be removed from the class, replaced or changed. Each idea has their strong points as well as their weak ones. To avoid the extreme differences in psychology opinions of the ideas you must use the common methods offered. It is hard for teachers to apply one idea to different children, this is due to the fact that none of use grow up the exact same way. For children to have the chance of becoming who and what they want, we must not put all of them in the same box, this is to keep choice free in life. To summarize it definitely helps when you understand the great philosophers and their processes. Theorist Jean Piaget, believed that individuals add and change their points of view of ... • 5. The Uniform Crime Report And The National Crime... From the day our government began to keep an accounting of criminal activity, there have been arguments over crime statistics. The Uniform Crime Report (UCR), Self Report Surveys (SRS), and the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) are three methods in which the government collects data, and monitors criminal activity in the United States. The Uniform Crime Reports, Self Report Surveys, and the National Crime Victimization Survey each have both positive and negative attributes that have influenced different aspects of society. The Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) provides official crime totals for the United States since 1929. It is a program of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The UCR Program is a voluntary city, university and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the strengths of the UCR are commendable and beneficial, they are overshadowed by its weakness. It lacks in areas such as: the UCR covers a limited scope of crimes, it gives a narrow approach or definition to crimes, and the statistics of the crimes can be misleading since it is based on arrest statistics. The major flaw with the UCR is that it relies on arrests, which rely on citizens actually reporting that a criminal offense has taken place. The total number of criminal acts that occur is unknown, but those that are reported to the police provide the first means of a count. Not all crimes come readily to the attention of the police; not all crimes are of sufficient importance to be significant statistically, and not all important crimes occur with enough regularity to be meaningful statistically. Self report surveys of victimization have become commonplace in discussions of crime and criminal justice policy. Changes in the rates at which residents of the country are victimized by crime have taken a place alongside the Federal Bureau of Investigation index of crimes known to the police as widely used indicators of the state of society and the efficacy of its governance (Cantor Lynch, 2000). Self report methods of criminal victimization have become a more commonly used tool in criminology and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After several years, Louisiana has a big probability of having no land whatsoever. The problem is slowly getting larger, and if something isn t performed, soon enough Louisiana will be a place that only contains water. Regarding coastal erosions, it alters places economically, environmentally, and socially. Natural events happen that leads to the destruction of Louisiana s wetlands; however, human activities causes it too. First of all, Louisiana s economy is abundantly affected in this catastrophe. Instead of sustaining marshes, it adds on to the problem. From page 36, it states, They direct river water straight into the Gulf of Mexico, where it no longer deposits sediment along the coast. Levees have the capability to stop the sediment, and that s a huge detriment to the marshes. Therefore, levees can t support the marshes that well and keep the sea level rise. Although, the blame can be also directed to human activities. Agriculture, cutting down forests, oil drilling, and constantly constructing building, roads, and cities. For example, from page 13, it explicitly shows, The search for oil in the coastal marshes has hastened coastal erosion. People might not recognize right away, but rash decisions can quickly endanger wetlands and marshes. If Louisiana gets smaller, people who live there can be slightly in fault. Every decision can result with consequences. Even if the human population were the cause to this humungous problem, natural causes are part of the reasons as to why Louisiana is losing too much land every hour. Such as having salt water in Baton Rouge s water. From page 37, it states, The slower river current would allow saltwater from the Gulf of Mexico to intrude up the Mississippi River as far as Baton Rouge. • 7. How Did The Great Awakening Influence The Role Of Religion... Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, a series of religious revivalist movements took place in the English colonies of North America. Born out of the declining religious devotion of many colonists, the revival, known as the Great Awakening, created a new form of Christianity and transformed how religion was viewed in the colonies. This monumental event had long term effects on North America, some of which continue to be felt even today. The most notable long term effects included the transformation of Protestantism and religious worship, the spread of revolutionary zeal due to the establishment of the American spirit, and the emergence of higher education in America. It became a time period that consisted of new knowledge and wisdom. People began to see the world in a different way, and began to think more logically. The Enlightenment was a major turning point in Europe since it led to new scientific discoveries, a secular way of viewing religion, and a shift in the way the government ruled. Yet when the idea of thinking with reason and logic came to light, people stopped using God as an explanation for everything. A new, secular view on religion began to form, which meant some people questioned religion while others found scientific explanations for God s existence. For example, many people believed in Deism. Deists believed that God made the world and then had no interaction with the events that occured. Deism said that God made it possible for people to discover laws as well as apply reason to ideas. Others believed in Pantheism which stated that nature and God were the same thing. All these new beliefs that came to light affected European society by helping minimize the reliance on religion and emphasize logical reasoning. The idea of questioning religion and tradition during the Enlightenment can be compared to the Reformation in 16th century. I chose to split this paragraph and focus on only one character for each paragraph. In the opening scene which takes place at the Watson s home, Doyle gives Mr. Watson an important task, by conforming Mrs. Watson to a housewife model because she is incapable of handling a situation herself. The new topic sentence improved my essay s organization by distinguishing how each character impacted the text on their own. Not only did this separation allow me to add more context within my paper, but it strengthened my analysis by giving more illustratrations and explanations. This substantial revision helped improve my developing as a writer by making each of my body paragraphs more organized. Another area in which I also improved in as a writer, is my transitioning between paragraphs. Transitioning between two different ideas has always been a struggle of mine. Aim and Introduction Recurrent aphthous ulceration (RAU) is the most common oral mucosal disorder, affecting 20% of the general population (see figure 1)(Akintoye and Greenberg 1997). RAU is classified into 3 subtypes with minor RAU being the most prevalent form (Barrons 2001). Due to its unknown etiology, there is no effective method in terminating its outbreaks, though the symptoms can currently be relieved through topical treatments (Femiano et al 2007). Although the selection criterion removed potential confounding factors, they narrowed down the applicability of the findings. This included exclusion of proposed etiological factors for RAU, such as Behcet s, Chrohn s and ulcerative colitis. Each of these parts or lobes have different functions that range from reasoning to auditory perception and make that particular person so unique. Some people have stronger and well more developed lobes in which is why not everyone is the same and could mean one section is inferior to the rest. To begin with, the frontal lob, which is located in the front of the human head, is associated with reasoning, higher level cognition, language, and motor skills. Each stanza alternates between questions from the dead man and answers from his friend. Stanzas that are quoted represent the dead man s questions. The stanzas without quotations are responses from the friend who is alive. Each stanza is significant because it reveals a little background of some of the things the dead man participated in. While we can slow them down through more responsible use of our antibiotics, if we do not change our approach, we will lose. There are two significant alternate approaches we could use to target and kill bacteria. One potential alternate approach to the treatment of infectious disease is utilizing monoclonal antibodies to supplement our own immune systems. Monoclonal antibodies are pure cultures of antibodies (the body s primary foreign substance detection molecules) artificially produced to react to a single specific substance or protein. By utilizing monoclonal antibodies to treat bacterial infection, we would be flagging the bacteria for the body s immune system to come kill them. As the body already flags bacteria to some extent, all monoclonal antibodies can do is enhance the activity of the immune system, which would be ineffective in people with compromised immune systems. Additionally, monoclonal antibodies would have to be developed for each individual strain of bacteria, and bacteria could easily change and render the antibody useless. While it would ... Important Aspects Of A Functioning Classroom Through this past semester, we have heavily discussed the important aspects of a functioning classroom, from different theorists to helpful teaching techniques. We ve debated what it means to be a great teacher. There are quite a few flaws in our education system today, but I believe most of the theories we discussed could be accorporated much more in the classroom. John Dewey, Friedrich Froebel, Maria Montessori, and Lev Vygotsky all understood the way children think and the importance of imaginative play. They also understood that children need to be active in nature. Also, we have discussed different forms of learning, such as project based learning, and outdoor classrooms. In my opinion, the education system should have minor changes that benefit the students more. Despite the various flaws, schools are extremely important for students especially on a social stand point. They can be around children their own age and interact in various scenarios. Socializing is important for children of all ages, it helps them develop listening skills, communication skills, how to share, how to work in groups, and compromise. Every interaction a child has is a learning experience. They learn what is right or wrong and how to communicate appropriately, social interaction plays a key role in cognitive development. The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In The Workplace The Importance of Cultural Diversity Cultural diversity is defined as The existence of a variety of cultural or ethnic groups within a society (Oxford, 2017). Within the workplace there have been a trend towards promoting diversity by maintaining a workforce with workers differ in area such as race, sexual orientation, age, and gender. This is often times a daunting and difficult task for management. Effective communication can be challenging for diverse groups. Language barriers for example may cause confusion leading to conflict. Another risk to implementing diversity in the workplace is that some employees feel that individuals may have gained their respective position unjustly. Conversely, differing employees may feel out of place and not assimilate well with the rest of the group (Kirby Richard, 2000). Promoting cultural diversity is not just relegate to the hiring of diverse individuals; rather the organization must also seek to create and maintain policies, procedures, training, and even incentives to truly cultivate a positive culturally diverse environment (Patrick and Kumar 2012). This permission was given by each host nation that had begun a progressive movement towards the liberalization of air travel between European Union (EU) nation states. From 1987 to 1990 Ryanair opened an additional 17 Routes and begins to emulate jet travel into the route structure. However, during this period Ryan air continued to emulate the standard business model due to continued fare regulation as well as a lack of innovation. • 36. A Contemporary Analysis Of Accounting Professionals Work... A research paper is only considered valuable if it is both valid and reliable in measuring the constructs that it claims to. This paper is aimed at evaluating the validity and reliability of the research paper titled A Contemporary Analysis of Accounting Professionals Work Life Balance by Buchheit, Dalton, Harp and Hollingsworth, published in the Accounting Horizons Journal in March 2016 in its first issue of volume 30. The research paper endeavoured to provide answers for two main research questions that were aimed at scrutinising the difference between 1. auditors and tax professionals in terms of their work life conflict, burnout and perceptions regarding alternative work arrangements (AWA) across all sizes of public accounting firms, and 2. accounting professionals perceptions of AWAs in industry versus public accounting. The reliability and validity of the research paper will be evaluated separately and some suggestions on how the authors could have enhanced both reliability and validity of their research will be provided. 2. Reliability A research is reliable when the measurement instrument can generate the same outcomes consistently. This section will discuss how the researchers have endeavoured to maximise reliability by minimising method error and maximising the inter rater reliability and internal consistency of the research. Suggestions on how to further increase the study s reliability are also given. 2.1. Method error Any measurement procedure will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Diffusion Is The Net Movement Essay NAME: Partrice Davis (Isata Sheriff, Marianne Fafana, Binta Bojang) TITLE: Dye Diffusion INTRODUCTION Diffusion is the net movement in which molecules of a substance move from a various area of high concentration to more substances of lower concentration. Properties of diffusion is the speed of diffusion is influenced by the size of molecule and temperature. The rate of diffusion will depend on the ability of the diffusing molecule to dissolve in the lipid bilayer of the membrane. The rate of diffusion across a membrane is directly proportional to the surface area of the membrane. Diffusion is often referred to as the net motion of particles from areas of high concentration to areas of low concentration. The solute is a substance that can be dissolved in a mixture or solution usually in smaller amounts. Factors that would affect the rate consist of the size of the gradient, molecule size, electric charge, lipid solubility, temperature, and the presence of membrane channel proteins. Substances involved in diffusion include gas, small organic ions, and molecules, and lipid soluble materials. Simple diffusion is the unsupported transport across a plasma membrane of the lipid soluble. Certain particles like alcohol, fatty acids, and steroids are able to enter cells easily because they can diffuse through the lipid portion of the membrane. Lipid soluble drugs such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water may be able to enter and leave the cells by diffusing through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Importance Of Art Funding For Education Essay The Importance of Art Funding According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, art is defined as something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings ( Art ). With that being said, it is almost essential that art is maintained as a general course required for every student to take. While having art classes in schools available for students is important, it is also equally as important for the school funding for the art programs to be regulated throughout each district. By using a simple student to teacher ratio to determine how much money should be allotted to each teacher, this reoccurring problem could be solved for good. One of the main problems in the art program throughout the United States is the regulation of funding within the program. For example, while one teacher has one hundred students and another may have seventy, the teacher with seventy students gets a budget of five hundred dollars when the teacher with one hundred gets only three hundred and fifty. On top of that, not only is it unfair to the individual teachers, but it is also happening all over the United States to teachers in the same district. In an article about secondary art programs, it states that the art teacher at School Number Two was operating with 78% of the funds as the teacher at School Number One. Because the two schools are within the same district, this is a difference that seemingly defies explanation (Kraft 55). While ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The piece of bread is the symbol used in this evidence because it is what the son was murdering his own father for. Furthermore, Elie dislikes the lack of humanity when soldiers throw bread crumbs into the wagon to cause a stampede Dozens of starving men fought desperately over a few crumbs. The worker watched the spectacle with great interest (Wiesel 100). This shows lack of humanity because the soldiers throw food into the wagon as if they would feed pigs which could also categorize as loss of identity. • 42. The Importance Of Flashbulb Memories How can a human forget to turn the lights off when they leave the house, but remember exactly where they were when JFK was assassinated? The answer to this phenomenon has long been researched and the answer is a term referred to as flashbulb memories, which can be defined as a detailed and vivid memory that is stored on one occasion and retained for a lifetime (Schachter, Gilbert, Wegner, Nock, 2015). These memories can be composed of insignificant but vivid details about the situation in which the news was received (Demiray Freund, 2015). • 43. The War On The World Fundamentally speaking, warfare is the means by which human society has been organized. The modern world is divided up into a number of states whose sovereignty is based either on the results of warfare or the threat of warfare. The ability of a states to wage and win wars is what determines the geopolitical pecking order. Those who cannot hope to win wars alone pursue policies and deals that ensure the intervention of more capable states in their defense, should one come about. Domestic policies and cultural developments, as well, are understood as wars: at this very moment, there is a War on Drugs, a War on Terror, a War on Women, a War on Poverty, even an alleged War on Christmas. Indeed, the uneasy peace that exists between the world s current superpowers is a result of the expected outcome of Nuclear War. The nature of war, being so essential to the shape and nature of the world we live in, must be understood. To aid us in our own understanding of war, we can benefit tremendously from exploring the ways in which war was practiced, understood, and experienced by our cultural and ideological progenitors, the Greeks and Romans of Classical Antiquity. Classical Greek warfare can be best understood through the manner in which it was practiced: hoplite warfare. Hoplite warfare was communitarian, strictly organized and ritualistic. This particular style of combat shaped and was shaped by the culture in which it developed. In a traditional hoplite battle, men armed with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Loss Of Evil In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies As the cynical philosopher Thomas Hobbes postulated, all humans possess an innate wickedness that will provoke chaos in a state of nature. This philosophy can be applied to the boys looming barbarity depicted in William Golding s Lord of the Flies, as their savagery aggrandizes overtime in their island that was once a paradise a natural environment without civilization and supervision. The boys eventually come to the point of destroying one another as well as nature, and these occurrences are epitomized by scars. In this novel, scars symbolize the wayward savagery of the boys that emerges ever since their arrival, the violence of nature that responds to their lack of civility, and the loss of innocence due to the inherent evils of humans. The scars illustrated throughout the novel connect the violence from the boys to reality, depicting the permanent blight mankind has brought upon the island and the capacity humans posses to become savage. After the plane crashes, Ralph wanders about and observes that All round him the long scar smashed into the jungle was a beat of it. He was clambering heavily among the creepers and broken trunks when a bird, a vision of red and yellow, flashing upwards with a witch like cry (7).
