Superhuman Marketing Plan
4. Project Description and Project Objectives Superhuman is a science fiction drama that follows the life of the three Weber teens, twins
Ivy and Oliver (20), and younger brother Jameson (17) who were orphaned after an unusual car accident. Severely injured, they are taken
to the privately owned Hellenic Institute laboratories by scientist Dr Stephen Morton who injects them with an experimental serum in
hopes of saving them. The serum is under commission by the secret Apotheosis Organisation who experiments with human genetics to
find a genome allowing immortality. Unbeknownst the teens, their parents and Dr Morton are apart of the organisation, who for decades
have been collecting data of abilities on human subjects with consequential failure. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Japanese Culture And Japanese People
Japan is seen by many in the West as a mysterious, homogenous culture where traditional values and a long history stretch from time
immemorial into practices today. What is especially problematic with this view (beyond issues of the essentialization of Japanese culture)
is that many Japanese people hold this same belief (Stanlaw 2004; Block and Cameron 2002). Nihonjinron, or theories of Japanese people
for Japanese people is a popular literature genre that advocates for the uniqueness of Japaneseness (Stanlaw 2004). However, in a country
that now more than ever is being influenced by globalization, a process in which social, economic, political, cultural, and demographic
changes that take place within nations cannot be understood without looking at the relations worldwide (Kearney 1995:547; Block and
Cameron 2002), the homogeneity of Japanese culture is being challenged (dubbed by some as the crumbling of the monolith (Noguchi
and Fotos 2001)). Of particular importance is the role of language in these processes. Language is an interdependent and inherent part of
social life (Schieffelin and Ochs 1986), our very sense of who we are, where we belong and why, and how we relate to those around us
(Llamas and Watt 2010: 1), a definition of human beings in the world, (Woolard and Schieffelin 1994:56) and interpretations go on. What
all of these have in common is that social reality is inseparable from language. As such, language socialization, language ideologies, and

The Simpsons Modern Family Satire Analysis
Situation comedy has used conventions satire and parody is used to reinforce/challenge ideas and stereotypes through the mocking of
societal issues. In this essay I will discuss about how stereotypes and common ideas are constructed, and how they are supported or
challenged in The Simpsons and Modern Family through the use of satire, and parody. The first sitcom viewed was The Simpsons (in
class viewing),and is used to explore and support the common idea of consumer capitalism in society plus the idea of consumer debt
through the use of exaggeration and parody. The other sitcom viewed (home viewing) was the Modern Family episode called Sleeper
which constructs and challenges both parental stereotypes whilst supporting the stereotypical traits of gay couples through the use of
exaggeration and irony.
In the Maple episode of The Simpsons, the main social issues explored are culture, capitalism and consumer debt. Consumer debt,
although only brief, is explored when Lisa attempts to buy MyPhonies to make herself look cool, however she can t afford them. Satire in
the form of exaggeration is used to explore the idea of making the earphones much more expensive than what they should have been. This

In the Modern Family episode called Sleeper , common stereotypes that are challenged or supported are homosexual couples, housewives
and fatherly figures. The first stereotype, gay couples, is reinforced in this episode with the use of exaggeration. The gay couple, Cameron
and Mitchell, are constructed in this episode to be feminine and emotional. Although the pair are seen as stereotypical, Cam is more
feminine in this episode, as he is very flamboyant and overreacts more compared to Mitch who isn t as hot headed and dresses more like a
man. Through the use of exaggeration, the actions of both Cam and Mitch are overstated and help to reflect the modern day stereotype of

Acculturation And Assimilation In The Pity Of It All By Elon
Short Paper 1: Acculturation/Assimilation: Gains
Over the course of history, the Jewish culture has endured many cultural hardships. When Nationalism began to rise in Europe, the
treatment of Jews became harsh. Amos Elon describes this transition for Jews in his novel The Pity of it All. For all their irony and
skepticism, the Jews of Germany never ceased in their effort to merge German and Jewish identity...their overriding desire was to be
complete Germans. (Elon, 8). The major concerns in Jewish history throughout the ages have been assimilation and acculturation.
Acculturation and assimilation are two very important concepts that describe the cultural effects on both minorities and majorities. While
these concepts are very similar, there are slight differences between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One component of our society that demonstrates the concept of acculturation is food. People with Chinese, Hispanic, Italian, and French
roots carry their own culture while still accepting the customs in America. In restaurants, the food they serve follows the same traditions
that could be found in other countries while still adapting to the language and culture of the whites. While acculturation is more accepting
to the majority of society, minorities can still be treated harshly. The Jews, for example, were willing to adapt to the German culture. In
fact, many of the Jews loved the Germans and wanted to be one united culture. At the same time, the Jews wanted to keep their religion
and some aspects of their culture: The vast majority never hid the fact that they were Jews. (Elon, 8). Some people like Moses
Mendelssohn believe that it was possible to be Germans and Jews at the same time. However, the Germans felt threatened by the intellect
of the Jews and began to deny them all opportunities to succeed in society. Rejection is one of the negative outcomes that can result from
acculturation. In addition acculturation can lead to many outcomes

Fracking And The Public Health
Hydraulic fracturing or fracking has become a concern both environmentally and in the public health sphere in Western Maryland. In
analyzing these ideas, the environment and public health concerns intertwine in a discourse about the relationship on both power and
knowledge. Fracking is a new issue for the state of Maryland to consider; therefore dominant narratives on this subject are still being
developed and legitimized. Studies have been conducted in other regions around the world to analyze the various effects fracking has had
on the environment and within communities, both economically and politically. However, despite the potential for Western Maryland to
become a possible new site for fracking, there is a lack of literature that specifically analyzes the environmental and public health
concerns as a discourse that may be detrimental to the people and the environment in this region. Also, as a result of fracking being a
relatively new source of natural gas, there has yet to be a significant number of studies analyzing the health effects caused by fracking
even in regions that have allowed fracking for a number of years.
The Marcellus Shale underlies Western Maryland along with New York, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia and is the United States largest
on shore natural gas reserve (Marcellus Shale Safe Drilling Initiative, 2015). Maryland is unique in its fracking regulations as emphasized
by former Governor Martin O Malley, who in 2011 signed the Marcellus Shale Safe

The Importance Of Pyrite Recovery From Gangue
Gangue is one of the largest accumulating solid, and is particularly rich in pyrite. Therefore, pyrite recovery from gangue is not only
significant for the environmental protection, but also for the development and production of chemicals. The dry separation methods,
leading to the decreased waste and cost effectiveness, have received significant attention of many scholars. In this study, the vibration
energy was introduced to promote the separation of particles. The interactions and effect of comparison of the gas velocity, vibration
intensity, and bed height were investigated. Moreover, the sulfur migration for pyrite recovery from the gangue has been studied by
several analytical techniques. The results show that the segregation efficiency was directly related to the interaction between various
factors. After the separation, the sulfur content of the concentrates of 6+3, 3+1, and 1+0.5 mm was 37.94, 35.43, and 30.61%,
respectively. The sulfur segregation s standard deviation (SSSD) was 0.70, achieving a satisfactory separation efficiency, indicating that
pyrite was the foremost material in the concentrate, and S and Fe migrated in the form of pyrite during the separation process, indicating
that pyrite could be effectively enriched by the dry method of vibration fluidized bed after the separation.

A quantitative survey consisting of eight main sections and demographic information was given to international students at a Western
United States land grant university. The survey s eight sections assessed students level of agreement in the eight following categories:
personal life, cultural concerns, academics, university programs, health care, safety, and the International Students and Scholars Office
(ISS). The questions were evaluated on a standard 5 point Likert type scale. In addition, open ended responses were elicited for country of
origin and religious beliefs to ensure possibly answers were not omitted by the research team. Questions were divided into the eight
categories to make the survey process easier for respondents while also preserving internal validity of the questionnaire. The survey was
sent via email through the ISS office to the entire international student population of 862 students. 63 students responded to the survey,
giving a response rate of 6.54%. This was significantly lower than the researcher s target of 25%, but the response rate was typical for this
student population (Porter Whitcomb, 2007).

Demographic and group comparison information was collected in order to account for differences in geographic location, religious
beliefs, gender, age, and time at the university. International students are often grouped together as one statistical category, but the

The First Time I Saw Edward Cullen
The first time I saw Edward Cullen, I was 13 years old. It was Easter Sunday and instead of waking up to a basket full of sugary treats; I
spent my morning helping my drunk father sober up by making two pots of strong, black coffee. Taking care of Charlie was nothing out of
the ordinary; my mother had died during childbirth so I learned early on how to cook, clean and even pay the occasional bill. Dealing with
his growing bouts of inebriation, however, was something entirely unexpected and new. Charlie always drank the occasional beer while
watching the game on Sundays, but his sudden habit of coming home plastered and even on some nights not coming home at all, had me
concerned and confused. Charlie and I did not have what I would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I m already running late so you will just have to come with me. Bella, you need to do exactly what I say today. Am I making myself clear?
My father s voice was stern and authoritative. He rarely spoke to me using that tone, so I knew he meant business; I nodded my head and
put my jacket on as I followed him out the door. I found it peculiar when we took a taxi to the restaurant instead of Charlie s Toyota, but
upon reflection, realized my father was still not coherent enough to drive. When we arrived and entered the lobby, Charlie pointed to a
plush red velvet sofa that sat against the wall and told me to sit down and wait for his return. I was alone in the room so I took advantage
of my isolation and meandered around, admiring the photographs that hung on the surrounding walls. They were of famous people who
had eaten at the restaurant and signed pictures to commemorate their visits. It was apparent by the numerous photos; Volturi s was a
celebrity hot spot. As I heard the noise of the crowd floating in from the adjoining room, I wondered if any celebrities were among the
diners. My curiosity got the best of me and I foolishly decided to take a quick peek. I attempted to remain cool as I strolled casually into
the room, but my shoe caught on the plush carpeting, causing me to lose my balance and topple straight into a table. To make matters even
worse, I managed to knock over a glass of wine as well. As I surveyed the damage caused by my mishap, I

Essay about The Avantages of Outsourcing
Outsourcing is a business strategy that moves through a number of functions, processes, activities and decision responsibility from within
an organization to outside providers, in order to reduce the costs of an organization. This is done through negotiating contract agreements
with a vendor who takes on the responsibility for managing it. The decision to outsource is a major strategic most company, since it
involves weighing the potential cost savings against the consequences of a loss in control over the products or services.
Outsourcing allows companies to focus on their core business and can create a competitive advantage by reducing their operational costs.

Disadvantages of outsourcing are quality risk, quality service, language barriers, and legal compliance and security. First of the
advantages is a quality risk, quality risk is an outsourcing can expose the companies to potential risks and legal exposure.
Secondly is a quality service. Quality service is a service that outsourcing provided to do the vendor. The quality service can be reporting

Micah Micah was prophet who spoke the word of God. He was born in the town Moresheth in 740 B.C. He was a contemporary of the
prophet Isaiah. Micah lived through the rule of the three kings of Judah: Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah. Unlike Isaiah, who was a native of
the holy city, Micah was an outsider from the countryside. The important people Micah was focused on the prophets Jotham, Ahaz, and
Hezekiah. They are important because they represent the people who recognized Micah as a great prophet. One event that Micah noticed
was the fall of Samaria. This tragic event occurred in the 722 B.C.Another event was when he predicted where and when Messiah would
be born. One last event was the destruction of Jerusalem. The main message was to not sin,

Analysis Of Ann Marie Macdonald s Fall On Your Knees
The extraordinarily horrible stories of multiple families connected together through love, marriage, and friendship, all slowly unravel in
Ann Marie MacDonald s award winning novel, Fall on Your Knees . The story begins with Materia Mahmoud eloping with James Piper,
who both move to a small Village together in Nova Scotia where they raise a family of girls, all of very different personalities. Materia
always tries to be the best mother she can be, and James is a good man who had an unfortunate upbringing, which eventually corrupts his
morals later on when he has his own family. Through various events in the story, three basic archetypes become very evident in the main
characters. These three archetypes include the Nurturer, the Outlaw, and the Explorer, which all become very obvious, quite early in the
story. The first archetype seen in this story, the Nurturer, is revealed in two characters: Materia and her second daughter Mercedes. The
Nurturer is responsible, organized, and loving, and is very good at taking care of others. Materia is not moulded into a nurturer until she
has her second child, Mercedes. Materia has trouble loving her first daughter Kathleen and is never very successful in doing so. Although
she lacks the affectionate aspect of the nurturer at first, she learns to take care of her family through cooking for them (MacDonald, 60)
and keeping everything and everyone clean and happy, to the best of her abilities. Once Mercedes is born, Materia gains the

Analysis Road Warrior
Analyzing the Road Warrior
The Road Warrior sequence when Max first arrives to Tire City is full of action, sound effects, music, camera shots, wardrobe
symbolisms, and survival instincts. The Road Warrior (George Miller, 1981). I will be writing about the time that Max rescued a victim
(Nathen) and returned him back to his tire people located deep within the deserts. The scene will continue all the way up to when the
refinery people come to make a deal with the tire peoples. The movie is set in a time where a lack of resources is desperately needed. The
viewer could notice that people in this apocalyptic environment need resources because of everyone desperately needing fuel. There is
also a lot of scraps that are being used to build towns, clothes, weapons, and cars. The people of this apocalyptic world are trying to adapt
to this environment using up any resource they can. Furthermore, I get a sense that the world might have gone bad due to rioting, nuclear
warfare, or global warming because of the town being all the way in the dessert and the deprives of resources. These are extremely
relatable to the problems occurring in today s time. In conclusion, the environment is extremely harsh and the humane instinct kicks in
when people have the will to live which was shown within this scene.
Max had just rescued one of the tire people who was left to die by the refinery peoples. The victim (Nathan) decided to make a deal to
return him back to his people and Max will get fuel

Technical Education Vs. Vocational Education
Technical education, also more commonly known as vocational education, has been around for a long period of time, first starting to
appear federally funded in high school classrooms in mid 1917. Picture a high school student that is struggling in their classes and sees no
other option but to drop out of school and work at a fast food restaurant. Then they walk into their first day of Agriculture (A.G.) where
they will be learning about welding and the fine arts of fabrication. After the first couple days of how to be safe in the shop, they discover
that they really enjoy welding small structures, so they decide to stay in school. Several years later they graduate, and instead of

Houle always had an attraction for teaching welding because he had a close relationship with his high school welding teacher. However,
in order for Houle to teach, he needed to receive his teaching credentials, which in turn meant he would have to go to college. And when it
came to academics, Houle was far behind because the highest level of math he had taken was Algebra 1. The goal was to get people to
work (Houle) Vocational education was not intended to prepare students for college. More than 117 years ago, an assortment of groups of
people started advocating for the use of new vocational education programs in schools. A majority of supporters for vocational education
consisted of businessmen and labor unions, who saw it as an answer to problems of skilled labor shortages and a way to help heal
unemployment in a swiftly industrializing society. There are also two sides to the story. While employers were anticipating the weakening
of labor unions, the workers saw it as opportunity for not only individual advancement, but also a means of dignifying labor. Many people
regarded vocational training as an opportunity to teach and learn the value of work because they believed the value was being washed out
of modern society. Actually, educators and teachers were excited about vocational education because they could practice new teaching
methods that emphasized children s interests

Somebody stop this madness! No, I m not talking about the presidency; that essay would exede the three page limit. Rather, I m talking

popular on social media than Donald Trump s 3 am tweets. In fact, the Dab has managed to find a foothold worldwide. Yet, the general

One of the main perpetrators of the Dab comes not from the dancing scene but from the world of sports. The Dab had only been a popular
as a dance move but as Cam Newton embraced the Dab as his new iconic touchdown celebration, its popularity skyrocketed. Cam Newton
became the iconic representation of the Dab as the Carolina Panthers rode an almost perfect season only falling short in the 2016
Superbowl. To them, the Dab originally symbolized their success as a team throughout the season and eventually their humiliation to the
Denver Broncos following their defeat in the Super Bowl. Soon people of all ages adapted the Dab into their own celebrations. Cam
Newton isn t the only person in the sports world that accounted for the global spread of the Dab. While Newton s dance move created a
phenomenon in america, soccer spread the Dab to the rest of the world. In a similar manner to cam newton, soccer players expressed their
joy of scoring a goal by bringing out the Dab. Soon people all around the globe had caught onto this ridiculous fad. For these sports
players, the Dab does not signify their respect towards the hip hop world of America. Infact, because the Dab became so popular in the
world many people often became antagonized at its usage. As a result, Cam Newton and other sports players often used their celebration
to assert their dominance over the other team. The Dab often was another method trash talk and way for players to get under their

They also found progesterone in ACLs (Slauterbeck, Hardy, 197). Thye found that levels of estrogen and progesterone can safely be

Afghanistan
Current Problem:
The current problem that is occurring in Afghanistan is the fact that American soldiers are over at Afghanistan right now. After the 9/11
attack, President George W. Bush puts together a plan to attack Afghanistan. America sends over a warning, to either turn over Osama bin
Laden, the man in charge of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, or we ll bomb you. After Afghanistan refused to turn him over, due to lack of
evidence that he was in charge of the 9/11 attacks, America, with the help of it s allies, countries like the United Kingdom and the
Northern Alliance, bombed Afghanistan. Through all of this madness, Osama bin Laden escaped. After all the stuff that just happened in
Afghanistan, President George W. Bush called for America to reconstruct Afghanistan . This would include going over there, building a
new government, and helping the people of Afghanistan to live a nonviolent life. After a decade of America being in Afghanistan, Osama
bin Laden being killed, and two new presidents in Afghanistan, we are left with a big problem, American soldiers are still in Afghanistan,
and we have no idea when they will be able to come back. We can not just take some helicopters, fly over to Afghanistan, pick up our

Fast Food Advertising Causing Obesity
Fast Food Advertising Causing Obesity
I think America s food culture is embedded in fast food culture. And the real question that we have is: How are we going to teach slow
food values in a fast food world? Of course, it s very, very difficult to do, especially when children have grown up eating fast food and the
values that go with that (Waters). The fast food industry is controlled by many powerful companies who feel the need to keep costs low.
This is because they believe that the lower the costs, the more consumers they ll gain, which keeps profits high. Between 1960 and 1973,

Fast food is a major health issue because it causes obesity. In the article, Obesity and Fast Food , Dr. Anaya Mandel claims, It is well
known that eating out may lead to excess calorie intake and increases the risk of obesity because of large portion sizes and increased
energy density of foods (1). This author is stating that restaurants such as McDonald s can cause obesity. Thus, eating at any fast food
restaurant can increase chances of obesity. Meals at these restaurants are cheap, therefore people in a rush or people who regularly
consume fast foods will end up buying the cheaper and greasier meals. The dollar menu on many fast food restaurant drive in menus may
seem like a better buy to customers, but, the cookies, sweets, and sandwiches are all what creates the fats in their bodies. It will eventually
increase the calories in their body and cause them to gain weight and develop obesity. American psychological association article states, in

Art Analysis Of The Calling Of St Matthew
This essay will analyze, The Calling of St Matthews, an oil on canvas painting made between the years of 1599 1600 by the artist,
Caravaggio. Descriptive details of this painting will follow, which will allow an in depth look into the elements and principles of design
that are evident in this Caravaggio s work. The Calling of St Matthew illustrates a religious scene where Jesus initially encounters Saint
Matthew.
Most striking is the group of well dressed young and old men who have gathered around a table counting money. One young man has a
rapier at his side. Perhaps they are gangsters sitting in a bar gambling. An upright gentleman in dark attire, punctuated by red sleeves,
stands in the shadows, his cheekbones red and defined. The glint of a halo adorns him and provides religious iconography. Jesus points his
hand at a bearded gentleman sitting amongst his friends, Saint Matthew. Sunlight cuts the room in half and catches Matthew s face. He
looks both surprised and guilty, but the pointing leaves Matthew confused, so he points to himself as if to say, Oh, are you looking for me?
On the far left of the table, a young accountant is absorbed in counting his coins; an old man in spectacles joins his side. A boy in yellow
with a prepubescent face, looks upon Jesus with an air of Who is this fellow? An old man with a cane, points his hand too at Matthew as if
to question, Are you sure he is a Saint? The focal point bounces between Jesus and Matthew; his gaze and the

INTRODUCTION
Diesel engine is a very popular prime mover used for surface transportation, agricultural machinery needs and in industries. Diesel
engines of more than 6.5 million units are being used only in the Indian agricultural sectors for different activities and the import of
petroleum products is a major draw off on our foreign exchange sectors and with increasing demand in future years the condition is likely
to become worse.
Hence, it is an urgent need for a country like India to search for an option to run CI engine using a different fuel than the conventional and

There is a reduction in all major measures of air pollution except NOx. Biodiesel is biodegradable under environmental conditions when
spilled, as it is 100% organic product.
1.8.3 Economic Benefits of Biodiesel The biodiesel can be extracted from any material that contains fatty acids. The various vegetable
fats and oils, animal fats, waste greases and edible oil processing wastes can be used as feedstock for the production of biodiesel. The
future needs for imported oil to manufacture regular diesel fuel could be reduced by the significant use of biodiesel. The cost of biodiesel
is most likely to remain stable than fossil fuel costs in future, as fossil fuel supplies decreases over time. As biodiesel is produced from
agricultural feed stocks, it helps in improving economy in rural areas. Some minor changes are needed in refuelling structures and spare
parts inventories. It is the only alternative fuel that runs in any conventional unmodified diesel engine. Based on mutagenicity tests, 90%
reduction in cancer risks are possible using biodiesel. Major engine problems can be attended by the diesel skilled mechanics only.

Electronic Cigarettes Essay
Abstract
Smoking traditional cigarettes causes various adverse health effects; however, the causes of smoking electronic cigarettes remains
unknown. The proposal presents a study that will measure fundamental frequency. Approximately eighty University of Central Florida
students who are non smokers, ages 18 to 24 years old, will smoke an electronic cigarette. Each student will be measured on fundamental
frequency before and after an electronic cigarette smoking session. It is predicated that a non smokers use of an electronic cigarette will
immediately produce a reduction in fundamental frequency, which may serve as a precursor to signal future medical pathologies similar to
that of traditional cigarettes. The comparisons of pre versus post smoke sessions for vocal fold vibration will be analyzed based on the
fundamental frequency scoring. The demographic variable, gender, may also impact fundamental frequency results, and will too be
analyzed. The proposal provides an overview of the literature and specific methodological strategies for implementing the research.
Expected outcomes and future research will be discussed.

Diction In Ralph Waldo Emerson s Education
Emerson from Education is trying to spread his message that the current school education is not in the perfect shape but rather in a broken
state. Because of the problem, the students are not able to learn as well. Emerson gets his message out by using diction to strengthen his
position and Emerson also appeals to pathos. In Education , Emerson uses diction as a way to keep audiences engaged in what he is trying
to argue. Emerson uses the words drill and labor to create a hostile tone which enhances his message that the school system is broken
(Emerson). The word drill in this context is used as an aggressive move. The author uses the word drill instead of teaches because the word
drill makes the school seem like they are trying to

Effectiveness Of Clinical Decision Making
The effectiveness of clinical decision making is crucial in nursing practice to ensure positive outcome (Goodman, 2014). This essay will
explore the clinical and decision making process in adult nursing by analysing how nursing practice is applied in decision making
considering the individual needs of the patient. Ms LG is a 42 years old white British female with a history of dyspepsia, constipation,
continuous poorly localized abdominal pain, bloating and history of vomiting (NA2010/3010). Ms LG had chemotherapy for ovarian
cancer prior to being admitted to the gastro intestinal oncology ward.

the pelvis. Stage three indicates the cancer has spread outside of the pelvis however, not to other parts of the body and lastly, stage four
indicates the cancer has spread to other parts of the body. Ms LG is in the stage three of ovarian cancer as her cancer has metastases into
her bowel. Problems establishing goals Ms LG has problem with her bowel as she had undergone resection of a tumour bearing ilea
segment with bowel reanastamosis. According to Bayless, Hanauer, and Bayless, (2014) a bowel reanastamosis is an operative union of
two hollow or tubular structures. It is likely that the cancer could metastasis and Ms LG could have another bowel obstruction. The nurses
would therefore monitor for any signs and symptoms of bowel obstruction. For example, vomiting is an early sign of of bowel
obstruction, abdominal pain, constipation, severe bloating, decreased appetite and diarrhoea (Moore, 2005). The nurses would have to
develop a ceiling of care for Ms LG s goal if surgery was not an option in the case of more than one metastasis.
Ceiling of care is the patient s expectation from a healthcare setting of their treatment and what is in the best interest of the patient (BMJ,
2015). As nurses are the advocates for

The Colossus Of Latin America
The United States has been a heavily involved in Latin American affairs for a long time, and there is great controversy surrounding how
good of a neighbor we have been. As the Colossus of the North , this country holds enormous power. The question is; have we used our
power for good or for evil? At times, we have been generous to Latin American countries. We returned the Panama Canal to the
Panamanians and created free trade with Mexico through NAFTA. However, the negative impact we have had outweighs the good. Time
after time, the United States has put dictators into Latin American countries out of the fear of growing communism. We have meddled,
taken the situations of our neighbors into our own hands with force, and vilified them for situations like the drug trade dilemma that are
partially at the fault of the United States. Due to the selfish overstepping upon Latin American governments, our discrimination and blame
upon immigrants and foreigners as well as patronizing actions like the Cuban embargo and the Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe
Doctrine, the Colossus of the North has historically been a poor neighbor to Latin American countries. During the Cold War Era, anti
communist countries like the United States took drastic measures to eliminate communism. Tension spread worldwide and a lot of
violence sprung from the feud between communist and anti communist parties. Many Latin American countries in this time were under a
communistic rule and the United States did

Alchemy as the Precursor to Modern Medicine Practices
Chemical medicine originates from medical alchemy of the medieval period. Its nature was controversial and the acceptance and practice
of chemical medicine caused problems with those who had strong ties with Scholasticism that rooted them in the Galenic tradition and
made them wary of new practices and innovations. The fact that chemical medicine became quite popular thanks to the sixteenth century
Swiss doctor Paracelsus only increased the controversial nature. Paracelsus was well known for his miraculous cures as well as for
rejecting the European medical organization (De Vos, 2007).
Paula De Vos (2007) wrote an article about the introduction of chemical medicine into Mexican medical practices during the seventeenth
and eighteenth centuries. She shares a case of a Doña Michaela de Sierra, whose legs had been paralysed for over 25 years but had been
cured with a series of medications that were a combination of traditional Galenic treatments and chemical medicines. This shift of
treatments, from the purely Galenic preparations to the inclusion of chemical medicines, is validated by the appearance of contemporary
pharmaceutical texts in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. The change occurred at the same time to a similar alteration in
Spain. The inauguration of Charles II to the throne started an era of acceptance to changes in medical practices. This medical development
happened later in Spain and Mexico compared to other European countries

An Unquiet Mind Reflection
Reflection of the Book An Unquiet Mind In her book, An Unquiet Mind, Kay Jamison instills an understanding of bipolar disorder from
two opposing perspectives. Initially, Jameson tells a tale of herself as a long term victim of bipolar. It is from her description that a reader
is highlighted about the various avenues through which the condition attacks. Besides exploring the disorder as the victim, the book as
well depicts Jamison as the healed. That is, she gives an account of her life as an individual who survived the grips of bipolar disorder and
became a healer (psychotherapist and a lecturer) instead. Reflecting on Jamison s work An Unquiet Mind automatically triggers the desire
of the reader to unearth more about the author, her context, and diagnosis of the bipolar disorder. The Enjoyable Aspect It is impossible
not to enjoy An Unquiet Mind based on how it explores the topics that people suffering from bipolar disorder tend not to touch. That is,
Jamison employs the writing to tell people about her life as a victim of a mental health condition that is characterized by stigma
everywhere. In depicting such an account, the author explores the actual nature of the disease, how it affects its victims, and how victims
can fight it. Basically, the storyline gives a lifeline to people who suffer from bipolar disorder, and who have lost hope in achieving their
dreams in life. The most fulfilling aspect of the reading features the fact that the author is able to identify a problem and at the same time
offer a practical solution to the problem from a personal perspective, something that is rare to come by in real life medical practicing.
Simply put, it is enjoyable to read Jamison s An Unquiet Mind. Diagnoses The reading offers lessons about the diagnosis of bipolar
disorder primarily. To a reader, placing emphasis on Jamison s diagnosis can lead to answers about curing the condition, which is the goal
of any interested individual. It is worth noting that Jamison was diagnosed with bipolar II disorder. Such an assertion follows her own
revelation that she suffered from the condition often, and in a long periodic duration while growing up (Jamison, 1995). Further, bipolar II
disorder is characterized by instances

Nestle India Case Study
1. Summary
The packets of Nestlé s Maggi 2 Minute Noodles that triggered India s worst food scare in a decade almost got lost in the post.
Returned months later to the north Indian food inspector who first sent the samples after a detour via Shimla in the Himalayas the
consignment eventually reached a laboratory in Kolkata, where tests found seven times the legal levels of lead.
From there, what began as a minor labelling dispute that according to a local magistrate could have been settled with a $400 fine, spiralled
into Nestlé s worst public relations crisis to date in India1.
At the end of May 2015, India s Food safety administration (FDA) ordered Nestlé India to recall its popular 2 minute Maggi noodles after

A better utilization of their social presence such as Facebook, Twitter etc. and advertisement channels like YouTube and TV and
Newspapers obviously (In the Coca Cola Case they started a toll free number and created websites which included FAQs).
CSR activities could pave way for Maggi to relaunch itself again. It could bring positive review and better coverage to the brand. This
would lead to chain of events if done accurately;
A. Regain brand loyalty
B. Improved sales of product
C. Shoot up stock prices
Organize Funds: In order to work upon the above strategies a lot of funds are needed. In this time of crisis no one would lend fund to us.
So for the time being some of the fund spending in not necessary areas can be relocated to such areas (During the crisis in Coca Cola, the
company temporarily reduced employee wages by 10% and reassessed and adjusted it once the crisis was resolved).

Morning in Nagrebcan: Close Reading Manuel E. Arguilla s Morning in Nagrebcan tells a story of a family with a dog and its young
puppies living in Katanyaghan Hills. The family is comprised of Tang Ciaco (father), Nana Elang (mother) and the two sons, Ambo and
Baldo. It is dawn in Nagrebcan, Nana Elang consistently doing her obligation as a housewife while Ambo and Baldo were in a fierce fight
and the root cause was the foolish act of Ambo eating the whole banana without peeling the skin of it. Baldo insist Ambo not to eat the

The black and white spot of the innocent puppy depicts the dawn whereas the darkness of the night intervene with the brightness of the
morning. In paragraph 1, the color of the whole environment is grey. The combination of the black and white spot of the puupy is grey.
The tension between the night and morning depicts the life. Life is often compared to the stages of the day dawn (infant), morning
(adulthood), noon (man), dusk (near death) and night (death). It is a contradiction that the puppy died in the dawn and not in the dusk or
evening. It suugest that life is unfair, we could die in unexpected way like what happen to the puppy, existed from dawn to morning and
eventually when sunrise came the puppy dies. The black and white spots also symbolize the yin yang principle. Two halves that together
complete wholeness. Yin and yang are also the starting point for change. When something is whole, by definition it is unchanging and
complete. So when you split something into two halves yin / yang, it upsets the equilibrium of wholeness. This starts both halves chasing
after each other as they seek a new balance with each other. The word Yin comes out to mean shady side and Yang sunny side .Yin Yang is
the concept of duality forming a whole. We encounter examples of Yin and Yang every day. As examples: night (Yin) and day (Yang),
female (Yin) and male (Yang). In addition, the gender of the

Modern America s Foundation Consists Of Equality And...
Modern America s foundation consists of equality and their values against discrimination. However, during the 1900 s equality was not as
easy as it is today due to factors such as individuals viewing themselves as superior to others. According to the Anti Defamation League
(ADL), this is the mentality known as racism. It s defined as the belief that a particular race is superior or inferior to another, that a person
s social and moral traits are predetermined by his or her inborn biological characteristics... (ADL). The persistence in the 1900 s of White
Americans to hinder blacks from reaching their true equality was dominant in communities, specifically in the Southern States of the
United States. The perception of race by the society and its citizens affected the lives of blacks, from how they felt, to the nature and the
extent in which they participated in social life. By looking at the film entitled The Great Debaters, we can see that in order to persuade
someone to do something, it is beneficial to create a sense of responsibility; this works because, making actions seem personally relevant
is more effective than a generic response.
Lloyd Bitzer employs that when trying to advocate for change individuals must illustrate a reality that will enable action. Individuals are
often persuaded through measures that provoke a reaction and an urgency for change in a given situation. Bitzer discusses that a situation,
specifically a rhetorical situation, comes into existence as

Evaluation Of A Letter Of Acceptance
It is indicative for consideration to be effective it must also move from the promise. The individual who desires to implement the contract
must display that they provided consideration. In this case Tobias offered consideration in sending a letter of acceptance. In sending a
letter Tobias ensured acceptance was communicated. When Tobias entered in to a contract it was constructed on the agreement of a
service by M S at the rate of six hours at ÂŁ75 (+VAT) an hour per team member to clean his house when Melinda indicated to Tobias of a
new offer at ÂŁ100 (+VAT) an hour per team member, in effect cancelled the original offer. A contract can be terminated in certain
circumstances and methods. The offeror may revoke an offer before it has been accepted and any counter offer also terminates the original
offer. In Carlill v Carbolic Smoke Ball Company, the revocation must take a form that is similar to the offer. The post rule for revocation
is an interesting take on contract law. Based on the principle which was determined by Byrne v Van Tienhoven, the revocation must be
communicated effectively directly or indirectly to the offeree before acceptance to be in effect. As Tobias implemented the method by
speeder response, same day delivery to deliver his revocation subsequently the applied postal principle equation can be deliberated based
on it being delivered by the royal mail or by other couriers. Regarding this matter special deliveries in the terms of private couriers, the

Comparing the Forgotten God of Love in Robert Bridges Poem EPÙÓ and Anne Stevenson s Poem Eros
It is often in books, poems, paintings, and sculptures that one hears of and sees the goddess of love. But when is it that one hears of the
god? In Greek mythology, Eros is the god of love, and a god who is many times overlooked. In Robert Bridges EPÙÓ and Anne
Stevenson s Eros , the idea that Eros is overlooked is portrayed, but in two separate ways. Techniques such as diction, imagery, and tone
are used to help convey the idea.
EPÙÓ, Greek for Eros, is shown to be beautiful in Bridges poem: beautiful and adored, yet forgotten. Eros is venerated called idol , and
he plagues the heart as a tyrant. He is a flower of lovely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After so many times of distributing love, but receiving no recognition, respect, or acknowledgement of any sort, Eros face just turned
blank.
Continuing on, Bridges writes, And would in darkness come, but thou makest the light wher er thou go. Ah yet no victim of thy grace.
This shows the horrible state of disregard that Eros has to face. It is sad, that after all the satisfaction and light love gives, love himself isn
t satisfied and is still enshrouded in the dark. Eros himself is forgotten. All the love Eros creates and instills in people stay, but Eros and
even his memory is quickly overlooked and not given the proper gratitude and reverence.
In Anne Stevenson s Eros, the god of love is shown to be broken and abused. Many negative words are used to emphasize Eros
brokenness. He is described as a bully boy, a brute that offends, and is given blows delivered by lust. These words are not pleasant, as they
illustrate an offensive, hurtful figure. As a slave to immortality, Eros is doomed to a bruised and battered visage for eternity. It is destined
for him to endure such a future because of the nature of his job. These strong words of hate and hurt show the pain that love had to endure.
The caller of love asks, Can this be you, with boxer lips and patchy wings askew? Eros answers with, what you see is what long overuse

The Importance of the Battle of Britain In World War Two
In this essay I will explain why I think The Battle of Britain was the most important turning point in World War Two. I think this because
although there was many turning points that were important to the direction the war took, The Battle of Britain showed for the first time
that Hitler and the Nazis could be defeated and if Germany had won the battle, Britain and possibly the world would be a completely
different place than we know it today.
Hitler before the Battle of Britain in August 1940 had conquered most of Central Europe including France, Poland, Holland and Belgium.
One of his reasons for doing this was one of his policies called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this attack one German bomber was returning from a sortie when it dropped the rest of its bombs over what the pilot thought was
the English Channel so he would save fuel. Unfortunately, it proved not to be the Channel but a built up area of London, consequently
destroying houses and killing some civilians. Winston Churchill, the British Prime Minister at the time reacted furiously and ordered the
bombing of Berlin and other major German cities. As Hitler had stated to the German people, a bomb would never be dropped on Berlin,
he was extremely angry and like Churchill, ordered the Luftwaffe (the German Air Force) to attack British cities. This was known as the
Blitz. We can now see that Hitler made a bad decision because it gave the British air force time to re arm, re build and re group as they
were virtually on their knees.
During the time when German bombers were attacking British cities, the RAF was training young pilots to fly the Hurricane and Spitfire.
Britain are said to have won the Battle of Britain but many question whether Germany wanted to invade Britain in the first place and put
every effort into the attack. During the Battle, German messerschmitts fought with British Hurricanes and Spitfires. German aircraft had
to fly along way and had a limited time they could fight for when the reached England. The allied aircraft

  • 3. Japanese Culture And Japanese People Japan is seen by many in the West as a mysterious, homogenous culture where traditional values and a long history stretch from time immemorial into practices today. What is especially problematic with this view (beyond issues of the essentialization of Japanese culture) is that many Japanese people hold this same belief (Stanlaw 2004; Block and Cameron 2002). Nihonjinron, or theories of Japanese people for Japanese people is a popular literature genre that advocates for the uniqueness of Japaneseness (Stanlaw 2004). However, in a country that now more than ever is being influenced by globalization, a process in which social, economic, political, cultural, and demographic changes that take place within nations cannot be understood without looking at the relations worldwide (Kearney 1995:547; Block and Cameron 2002), the homogeneity of Japanese culture is being challenged (dubbed by some as the crumbling of the monolith (Noguchi and Fotos 2001)). Of particular importance is the role of language in these processes. Language is an interdependent and inherent part of social life (Schieffelin and Ochs 1986), our very sense of who we are, where we belong and why, and how we relate to those around us (Llamas and Watt 2010: 1), a definition of human beings in the world, (Woolard and Schieffelin 1994:56) and interpretations go on. What all of these have in common is that social reality is inseparable from language. As such, language socialization, language ideologies, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Simpsons Modern Family Satire Analysis Situation comedy has used conventions satire and parody is used to reinforce/challenge ideas and stereotypes through the mocking of societal issues. In this essay I will discuss about how stereotypes and common ideas are constructed, and how they are supported or challenged in The Simpsons and Modern Family through the use of satire, and parody. The first sitcom viewed was The Simpsons (in class viewing),and is used to explore and support the common idea of consumer capitalism in society plus the idea of consumer debt through the use of exaggeration and parody. The other sitcom viewed (home viewing) was the Modern Family episode called Sleeper which constructs and challenges both parental stereotypes whilst supporting the stereotypical traits of gay couples through the use of exaggeration and irony. In the Maple episode of The Simpsons, the main social issues explored are culture, capitalism and consumer debt. Consumer debt, although only brief, is explored when Lisa attempts to buy MyPhonies to make herself look cool, however she can t afford them. Satire in the form of exaggeration is used to explore the idea of making the earphones much more expensive than what they should have been. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Modern Family episode called Sleeper , common stereotypes that are challenged or supported are homosexual couples, housewives and fatherly figures. The first stereotype, gay couples, is reinforced in this episode with the use of exaggeration. The gay couple, Cameron and Mitchell, are constructed in this episode to be feminine and emotional. Although the pair are seen as stereotypical, Cam is more feminine in this episode, as he is very flamboyant and overreacts more compared to Mitch who isn t as hot headed and dresses more like a man. Through the use of exaggeration, the actions of both Cam and Mitch are overstated and help to reflect the modern day stereotype of gay ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Acculturation And Assimilation In The Pity Of It All By Elon Short Paper 1: Acculturation/Assimilation: Gains Over the course of history, the Jewish culture has endured many cultural hardships. When Nationalism began to rise in Europe, the treatment of Jews became harsh. Amos Elon describes this transition for Jews in his novel The Pity of it All. For all their irony and skepticism, the Jews of Germany never ceased in their effort to merge German and Jewish identity...their overriding desire was to be complete Germans. (Elon, 8). The major concerns in Jewish history throughout the ages have been assimilation and acculturation. Acculturation and assimilation are two very important concepts that describe the cultural effects on both minorities and majorities. While these concepts are very similar, there are slight differences between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One component of our society that demonstrates the concept of acculturation is food. People with Chinese, Hispanic, Italian, and French roots carry their own culture while still accepting the customs in America. In restaurants, the food they serve follows the same traditions that could be found in other countries while still adapting to the language and culture of the whites. While acculturation is more accepting to the majority of society, minorities can still be treated harshly. The Jews, for example, were willing to adapt to the German culture. In fact, many of the Jews loved the Germans and wanted to be one united culture. At the same time, the Jews wanted to keep their religion and some aspects of their culture: The vast majority never hid the fact that they were Jews. (Elon, 8). Some people like Moses Mendelssohn believe that it was possible to be Germans and Jews at the same time. However, the Germans felt threatened by the intellect of the Jews and began to deny them all opportunities to succeed in society. Rejection is one of the negative outcomes that can result from acculturation. In addition acculturation can lead to many outcomes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Fracking And The Public Health Hydraulic fracturing or fracking has become a concern both environmentally and in the public health sphere in Western Maryland. In analyzing these ideas, the environment and public health concerns intertwine in a discourse about the relationship on both power and knowledge. Fracking is a new issue for the state of Maryland to consider; therefore dominant narratives on this subject are still being developed and legitimized. Studies have been conducted in other regions around the world to analyze the various effects fracking has had on the environment and within communities, both economically and politically. However, despite the potential for Western Maryland to become a possible new site for fracking, there is a lack of literature that specifically analyzes the environmental and public health concerns as a discourse that may be detrimental to the people and the environment in this region. Also, as a result of fracking being a relatively new source of natural gas, there has yet to be a significant number of studies analyzing the health effects caused by fracking even in regions that have allowed fracking for a number of years. The Marcellus Shale underlies Western Maryland along with New York, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia and is the United States largest on shore natural gas reserve (Marcellus Shale Safe Drilling Initiative, 2015). Maryland is unique in its fracking regulations as emphasized by former Governor Martin O Malley, who in 2011 signed the Marcellus Shale Safe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Importance Of Pyrite Recovery From Gangue Gangue is one of the largest accumulating solid, and is particularly rich in pyrite. Therefore, pyrite recovery from gangue is not only significant for the environmental protection, but also for the development and production of chemicals. The dry separation methods, leading to the decreased waste and cost effectiveness, have received significant attention of many scholars. In this study, the vibration energy was introduced to promote the separation of particles. The interactions and effect of comparison of the gas velocity, vibration intensity, and bed height were investigated. Moreover, the sulfur migration for pyrite recovery from the gangue has been studied by several analytical techniques. The results show that the segregation efficiency was directly related to the interaction between various factors. After the separation, the sulfur content of the concentrates of 6+3, 3+1, and 1+0.5 mm was 37.94, 35.43, and 30.61%, respectively. The sulfur segregation s standard deviation (SSSD) was 0.70, achieving a satisfactory separation efficiency, indicating that pyrite was the foremost material in the concentrate, and S and Fe migrated in the form of pyrite during the separation process, indicating that pyrite could be effectively enriched by the dry method of vibration fluidized bed after the separation. • 8. Methods Of Design And Context Methods Design and Context A quantitative survey consisting of eight main sections and demographic information was given to international students at a Western United States land grant university. The survey s eight sections assessed students level of agreement in the eight following categories: personal life, cultural concerns, academics, university programs, health care, safety, and the International Students and Scholars Office (ISS). The questions were evaluated on a standard 5 point Likert type scale. In addition, open ended responses were elicited for country of origin and religious beliefs to ensure possibly answers were not omitted by the research team. Questions were divided into the eight categories to make the survey process easier for respondents while also preserving internal validity of the questionnaire. The survey was sent via email through the ISS office to the entire international student population of 862 students. 63 students responded to the survey, giving a response rate of 6.54%. This was significantly lower than the researcher s target of 25%, but the response rate was typical for this student population (Porter Whitcomb, 2007). • 9. The First Time I Saw Edward Cullen The first time I saw Edward Cullen, I was 13 years old. It was Easter Sunday and instead of waking up to a basket full of sugary treats; I spent my morning helping my drunk father sober up by making two pots of strong, black coffee. Taking care of Charlie was nothing out of the ordinary; my mother had died during childbirth so I learned early on how to cook, clean and even pay the occasional bill. Dealing with his growing bouts of inebriation, however, was something entirely unexpected and new. Charlie always drank the occasional beer while watching the game on Sundays, but his sudden habit of coming home plastered and even on some nights not coming home at all, had me concerned and confused. Am I making myself clear? My father s voice was stern and authoritative. He rarely spoke to me using that tone, so I knew he meant business; I nodded my head and put my jacket on as I followed him out the door. I found it peculiar when we took a taxi to the restaurant instead of Charlie s Toyota, but upon reflection, realized my father was still not coherent enough to drive. When we arrived and entered the lobby, Charlie pointed to a plush red velvet sofa that sat against the wall and told me to sit down and wait for his return. I was alone in the room so I took advantage of my isolation and meandered around, admiring the photographs that hung on the surrounding walls. They were of famous people who had eaten at the restaurant and signed pictures to commemorate their visits. It was apparent by the numerous photos; Volturi s was a celebrity hot spot. As I heard the noise of the crowd floating in from the adjoining room, I wondered if any celebrities were among the diners. My curiosity got the best of me and I foolishly decided to take a quick peek. I attempted to remain cool as I strolled casually into the room, but my shoe caught on the plush carpeting, causing me to lose my balance and topple straight into a table. To make matters even worse, I managed to knock over a glass of wine as well. As I surveyed the damage caused by my mishap, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Ann Marie Macdonald s Fall On Your Knees The extraordinarily horrible stories of multiple families connected together through love, marriage, and friendship, all slowly unravel in Ann Marie MacDonald s award winning novel, Fall on Your Knees . The story begins with Materia Mahmoud eloping with James Piper, who both move to a small Village together in Nova Scotia where they raise a family of girls, all of very different personalities. Materia always tries to be the best mother she can be, and James is a good man who had an unfortunate upbringing, which eventually corrupts his morals later on when he has his own family. Through various events in the story, three basic archetypes become very evident in the main characters. These three archetypes include the Nurturer, the Outlaw, and the Explorer, which all become very obvious, quite early in the story. The first archetype seen in this story, the Nurturer, is revealed in two characters: Materia and her second daughter Mercedes. The Nurturer is responsible, organized, and loving, and is very good at taking care of others. Materia is not moulded into a nurturer until she has her second child, Mercedes. Materia has trouble loving her first daughter Kathleen and is never very successful in doing so. Although she lacks the affectionate aspect of the nurturer at first, she learns to take care of her family through cooking for them (MacDonald, 60) and keeping everything and everyone clean and happy, to the best of her abilities. Analysis Road Warrior Analyzing the Road Warrior The Road Warrior sequence when Max first arrives to Tire City is full of action, sound effects, music, camera shots, wardrobe symbolisms, and survival instincts. The Road Warrior (George Miller, 1981). I will be writing about the time that Max rescued a victim (Nathen) and returned him back to his tire people located deep within the deserts. The scene will continue all the way up to when the refinery people come to make a deal with the tire peoples. The movie is set in a time where a lack of resources is desperately needed. The viewer could notice that people in this apocalyptic environment need resources because of everyone desperately needing fuel. There is also a lot of scraps that are being used to build towns, clothes, weapons, and cars. The people of this apocalyptic world are trying to adapt to this environment using up any resource they can. Furthermore, I get a sense that the world might have gone bad due to rioting, nuclear warfare, or global warming because of the town being all the way in the dessert and the deprives of resources. These are extremely relatable to the problems occurring in today s time. In conclusion, the environment is extremely harsh and the humane instinct kicks in when people have the will to live which was shown within this scene. More than 117 years ago, an assortment of groups of people started advocating for the use of new vocational education programs in schools. A majority of supporters for vocational education consisted of businessmen and labor unions, who saw it as an answer to problems of skilled labor shortages and a way to help heal unemployment in a swiftly industrializing society. There are also two sides to the story. While employers were anticipating the weakening of labor unions, the workers saw it as opportunity for not only individual advancement, but also a means of dignifying labor. Many people regarded vocational training as an opportunity to teach and learn the value of work because they believed the value was being washed out of modern society. Descriptive details of this painting will follow, which will allow an in depth look into the elements and principles of design that are evident in this Caravaggio s work. The Calling of St Matthew illustrates a religious scene where Jesus initially encounters Saint Matthew. Most striking is the group of well dressed young and old men who have gathered around a table counting money. One young man has a rapier at his side. Perhaps they are gangsters sitting in a bar gambling. An upright gentleman in dark attire, punctuated by red sleeves, stands in the shadows, his cheekbones red and defined. The glint of a halo adorns him and provides religious iconography. Jesus points his hand at a bearded gentleman sitting amongst his friends, Saint Matthew. Sunlight cuts the room in half and catches Matthew s face. He looks both surprised and guilty, but the pointing leaves Matthew confused, so he points to himself as if to say, Oh, are you looking for me? On the far left of the table, a young accountant is absorbed in counting his coins; an old man in spectacles joins his side. Its nature was controversial and the acceptance and practice of chemical medicine caused problems with those who had strong ties with Scholasticism that rooted them in the Galenic tradition and made them wary of new practices and innovations. The fact that chemical medicine became quite popular thanks to the sixteenth century Swiss doctor Paracelsus only increased the controversial nature. This shift of treatments, from the purely Galenic preparations to the inclusion of chemical medicines, is validated by the appearance of contemporary pharmaceutical texts in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. • 27. An Unquiet Mind Reflection Reflection of the Book An Unquiet Mind In her book, An Unquiet Mind, Kay Jamison instills an understanding of bipolar disorder from two opposing perspectives. Initially, Jameson tells a tale of herself as a long term victim of bipolar. It is from her description that a reader is highlighted about the various avenues through which the condition attacks. Besides exploring the disorder as the victim, the book as well depicts Jamison as the healed. That is, she gives an account of her life as an individual who survived the grips of bipolar disorder and became a healer (psychotherapist and a lecturer) instead. Reflecting on Jamison s work An Unquiet Mind automatically triggers the desire of the reader to unearth more about the author, her context, and diagnosis of the bipolar disorder. The Enjoyable Aspect It is impossible not to enjoy An Unquiet Mind based on how it explores the topics that people suffering from bipolar disorder tend not to touch. That is, Jamison employs the writing to tell people about her life as a victim of a mental health condition that is characterized by stigma everywhere. In depicting such an account, the author explores the actual nature of the disease, how it affects its victims, and how victims can fight it. Basically, the storyline gives a lifeline to people who suffer from bipolar disorder, and who have lost hope in achieving their dreams in life. The most fulfilling aspect of the reading features the fact that the author is able to identify a problem and at the same time offer a practical solution to the problem from a personal perspective, something that is rare to come by in real life medical practicing. Simply put, it is enjoyable to read Jamison s An Unquiet Mind. Diagnoses The reading offers lessons about the diagnosis of bipolar disorder primarily. To a reader, placing emphasis on Jamison s diagnosis can lead to answers about curing the condition, which is the goal of any interested individual. However, during the 1900 s equality was not as easy as it is today due to factors such as individuals viewing themselves as superior to others. According to the Anti Defamation League (ADL), this is the mentality known as racism. It s defined as the belief that a particular race is superior or inferior to another, that a person s social and moral traits are predetermined by his or her inborn biological characteristics... The perception of race by the society and its citizens affected the lives of blacks, from how they felt, to the nature and the extent in which they participated in social life. By looking at the film entitled The Great Debaters, we can see that in order to persuade someone to do something, it is beneficial to create a sense of responsibility; this works because, making actions seem personally relevant is more effective than a generic response. • 32. Evaluation Of A Letter Of Acceptance It is indicative for consideration to be effective it must also move from the promise. The individual who desires to implement the contract must display that they provided consideration. In this case Tobias offered consideration in sending a letter of acceptance. In sending a letter Tobias ensured acceptance was communicated. When Tobias entered in to a contract it was constructed on the agreement of a service by M S at the rate of six hours at ÂŁ75 (+VAT) an hour per team member to clean his house when Melinda indicated to Tobias of a new offer at ÂŁ100 (+VAT) an hour per team member, in effect cancelled the original offer. A contract can be terminated in certain circumstances and methods. The offeror may revoke an offer before it has been accepted and any counter offer also terminates the original offer. In Carlill v Carbolic Smoke Ball Company, the revocation must take a form that is similar to the offer. The post rule for revocation is an interesting take on contract law. Based on the principle which was determined by Byrne v Van Tienhoven, the revocation must be communicated effectively directly or indirectly to the offeree before acceptance to be in effect. As Tobias implemented the method by speeder response, same day delivery to deliver his revocation subsequently the applied postal principle equation can be deliberated based on it being delivered by the royal mail or by other couriers. • 33. Comparing the Forgotten God of Love in Robert Bridges’... Comparing the Forgotten God of Love in Robert Bridges Poem EPÙÓ and Anne Stevenson s Poem Eros It is often in books, poems, paintings, and sculptures that one hears of and sees the goddess of love. But when is it that one hears of the god? In Greek mythology, Eros is the god of love, and a god who is many times overlooked. In Robert Bridges EPÙÓ and Anne Stevenson s Eros , the idea that Eros is overlooked is portrayed, but in two separate ways. Techniques such as diction, imagery, and tone are used to help convey the idea. EPÙÓ, Greek for Eros, is shown to be beautiful in Bridges poem: beautiful and adored, yet forgotten. Eros is venerated called idol , and he plagues the heart as a tyrant. He is a flower of lovely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After so many times of distributing love, but receiving no recognition, respect, or acknowledgement of any sort, Eros face just turned blank. Continuing on, Bridges writes, And would in darkness come, but thou makest the light wher er thou go. Ah yet no victim of thy grace. This shows the horrible state of disregard that Eros has to face. It is sad, that after all the satisfaction and light love gives, love himself isn t satisfied and is still enshrouded in the dark. Eros himself is forgotten. All the love Eros creates and instills in people stay, but Eros and even his memory is quickly overlooked and not given the proper gratitude and reverence. In Anne Stevenson s Eros, the god of love is shown to be broken and abused. Many negative words are used to emphasize Eros brokenness. He is described as a bully boy, a brute that offends, and is given blows delivered by lust. These words are not pleasant, as they illustrate an offensive, hurtful figure. As a slave to immortality, Eros is doomed to a bruised and battered visage for eternity. It is destined for him to endure such a future because of the nature of his job. These strong words of hate and hurt show the pain that love had to endure. The caller of love asks, Can this be you, with boxer lips and patchy wings askew? Eros answers with, what you see is what long overuse has made ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Importance of the Battle of Britain In World War Two... The Importance of the Battle of Britain In World War Two In this essay I will explain why I think The Battle of Britain was the most important turning point in World War Two. I think this because although there was many turning points that were important to the direction the war took, The Battle of Britain showed for the first time that Hitler and the Nazis could be defeated and if Germany had won the battle, Britain and possibly the world would be a completely different place than we know it today. Hitler before the Battle of Britain in August 1940 had conquered most of Central Europe including France, Poland, Holland and Belgium. One of his reasons for doing this was one of his policies called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this attack one German bomber was returning from a sortie when it dropped the rest of its bombs over what the pilot thought was the English Channel so he would save fuel. Unfortunately, it proved not to be the Channel but a built up area of London, consequently destroying houses and killing some civilians. Winston Churchill, the British Prime Minister at the time reacted furiously and ordered the bombing of Berlin and other major German cities. As Hitler had stated to the German people, a bomb would never be dropped on Berlin, he was extremely angry and like Churchill, ordered the Luftwaffe (the German Air Force) to attack British cities. This was known as the Blitz. We can now see that Hitler made a bad decision because it gave the British air force time to re arm, re build and re group as they were virtually on their knees. During the time when German bombers were attacking British cities, the RAF was training young pilots to fly the Hurricane and Spitfire. Britain are said to have won the Battle of Britain but many question whether Germany wanted to invade Britain in the first place and put every effort into the attack. During the Battle, German messerschmitts fought with British Hurricanes and Spitfires. German aircraft had to fly along way and had a limited time they could fight for when the reached England. The allied aircraft ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
