Suggested Strategy for Central High School
Needs Assessment As chair of the committee charged with the recommendation for the purchase of
new computer equipment, I will detail a suggested plan for this $50,000 project at Central High
School. The high school has 1000 students in four grade levels (9th through 12th), and has
approximately 60 and 20 supporting staff. An inventory of the computers at the whole school was
conducted to understand what is currently available. There is currently one computer lab per grade
level in the school with 22 computers each, allowing for each grade use of this for one period per day.
There are also two computers in each classroom (one for student use, one for teacher use) as well as a
bank of computers in the library. There are also individual computers for the guidance counselors,
nurse, principals and assistant principals, and office staff. As the inventory was being done, a survey
was passed out to all of the staff asking where the needs were greatest and what specific equipment
was lacking. The overwhelming desire of the majority of the teachers was more computers in the
individual classrooms, specifically in the math and science rooms as a lot of current information was
required and there was a lot of competition for its use. There was a great desire to be flexible and
move the computer from place to place, such that a laptop computer or tablet computer was preferred
over a desktop. Market Research In order to take the needs of the school and convert that into a
proposal, I

Stereotypes In Upton Sinclair s The Jungle
Stereotypes exist everywhere, individuals stereotype others as well as themselves. Stereotypes
function in society as a perceived notion of a group of individuals based upon prior experience from a
select few people from aforementioned group. Stereotypes exist within literature as well; stereotypes
can be used to help personify individuals and make the best stock characters. The stereotype of a
character can be used to better exemplify what people may or may not be really like. In The Jungle by
Upton Sinclair, Sinclair stereotypes immigrants to show their initial optimism, ignorance and finally
the realization of what life is really like.
Immigrants or foreigners are usually shown as being optimistic about coming to a new land, especially
with living the American Dream . Jurgis is telling others That is well enough for men like you, he
would say, silpnas, puny fellows but my back is broad (page 20). Jurgis is optimistic that it would not
hurt him, if he were to be beaten, but he is also a young individual with a lack of true work. Like many
others that were coming over to the United States during the time period, their perceived notion of
how work is in the United States is not the same as what is concurrently occurring. Sinclair uses that
opportunity to show how confident Jurgis is feeling about his working ability and because he worked
in Lithuania, it must be the same. Sinclair also uses a group of foreigners being exposed to new
experiences and sights. The

Essay on Education Policy in Michigan
An outdated education system is the largest problem Michigan faces because it affects not only the
present, but also the future of the state. Important issues cannot be solved, nor policies created to
remedy them, if the people attempting to solve them are not equipped with the skills and knowledge
needed to make informed decisions. The state cannot run itself, let alone the nation as a whole, if its
people are uneducated. The Constitution, the very basis of our government, relies heavily on the
assumption that citizens of the United States are able to make knowledgeable and well reasoned
decisions, the types of which cannot be made when a person does not receive a proper education. This
proper education is unattainable when low ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After several years of success, the required cuts along with economic woes rendered Proposal A
largely ineffective and unable to properly fund Michigan s schools, creating a massive problem in the
way Michigan school districts are to be funded, as well as developing a need for new educational
policy to supplement or overhaul Proposal A and the Michigan educational system. The educational
funding problem in Michigan takes root back in 1809, when the first public school was founded.
While funding was not an issue at the time, the way schools were funded through local property taxes
eventually created a large problem. Fast forward to 1985, Michigan has long moved past the rural
cities of the 1800 s and into affluent suburbs and cities. The size and taxation pools of cities have
greatly changed from 1809 to 1985, but the way schools were funded remained exactly the same. This
lack of change led to a large disparity in school funding from richer districts to poorer districts.
Coupled together with local governments inability to convince citizens to vote in favor of millages and
tax hikes, the disparity ballooned. In 1993, Bloomfield Hills ranked in the 99th percentile of Michigan
schools, was spending on average $10,294 per student, while Standish Sterling ranked in the bottom
1st percentile, spent $3,738 per student, roughly a $6,500 difference per student (Roy 2003). This
inconsistency greatly disadvantaged students all the way to 95th percentile, where there

ABSTRACT: Spirometers are used to measure lung capacity and response of lungs and chest during
physical therapy. Current spirometers available in the market are expensive and usually cost over
$1,000. Due to this high cost, many physicians practicing in developing countries like India, cannot
afford spirometry equipment. As a result, millions of people with chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease, or COPD, are unable to be effectively monitored or treated for their disease. Thus, the
development of a low cost reliable spirometer would allow these physicians to assess their patient s
pulmonary health. All these factors led to the development of a product which addresses cost issues as
well as technical accuracy[1] . A computer based miniaturized spirometer system is Designed to be
realized which would use a solid state pressure sensor. A proto type of a Computer based Spirometer
system has been realized which would employ a solid state single port pressure sensor. A dedicated
analog signal acquisition and processing channel has been designed and tested along with the solid
state pressure sensor. Calibration of pressure sensor for known values of applied pressure

The Foundations Of Family Therapy
The reading is taking from chapters 1 to 5, the foundations of family therapy, the evolution of family
therapy, basic techniques of family therapy, the fundamental concepts of family therapy, Bowen
family systems therapy. However, my mine focus is on Bowen s theory; this paper will address the
Bowen family system theory which includes differentiation of self, the emotional triangles,
multigenerational emotional processes, emotional cutoff and societal emotional process.
Bowen s theory identifies the importance of families as emotional system. The system viewed
individuality within the family set.
Differentiation self this is self independent individuals. They have the ability to be flexible and act
wisely, even in the face of anxiety (Bowen, 200). A differentiated person s attitude may change in due
course because life goals revolve love, happiness, comfort, relationship and security and who their
partners are. This theory is so interesting because that was how I felt after my separation, I had to get
myself together; I had to take care of my daughter and I, as a single mother continue things such as
working and going to school.
Emotional triangles this affects the family s happiness unless the problem is resolved successfully.
When the third party helps to decreases anxiety in the family. Similar to the role play we had in the
class; how the husband who was emotional, reactive to his family and kept his distance from his wife.
The wife becomes anxiously attached to one

The Heart And Vascular Institute
Clinical Specialty Area
The clinical area chosen was the Heart and Vascular Institute through one of the hospital systems I am
employed with. I had been involved with a project that studied the readmissions experienced within
the hospital system and established heart failure (HF) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorders
(COPD) were our highest readmission problems. Our organization had found that millions of dollars
had been left on the table since the Centers for Medicare Medicaid (CMS) handed down their final
ruling in 2012 regarding reduced payments for preventable readmissions (CMS.gov, 2016).
One of the outcomes of the project was the development of the rapid diuresis unit (RDU) through our
Cardiac Decision Units (CDU) at several campuses. I often wondered how the RDU of the CDU was
set up and how they function within the system. This is my opportunity to see the operation firsthand,
the clientele it serves, the staff, and potential education needs that the department faces.

Toy Stimulates The Child With A Great Deal Of Muscle Tone...
This toy would facilitate a child with a great deal of muscle tone development. Muscle tone is the
amount tension in a muscle during rest. This toy stimulates the child to develop muscle tone though the
actions of sitting on the floor in front of the toy, sitting upright on top of the toy, keeping their hands
on the handlebars or the lid of the compartment to keep it open and keeping their legs down and on the
ground when sitting on the car. To play with this toy while in sitting, either in the front of the car or to
the side to play with the buttons on the dashboard, the child needs to maintain an upright posture. This
upright posture allows the child to be at the proper eye level and also allows their hands to be at toy
level as well. This also applies to when the child is sitting on the toy; for the child to get the most
benefit out of the buttons, keys, knob, lever and handlebars, the child needs to be sitting in the upright
position on the toy. The child s muscle tone development can also be encouraged by maintaining a
gross grasp on the handlebars as well as extended shoulders to maintain the proper arm position. This
also applies when the child must hold the lid of the seat open to place objects inside or to look inside.
Lastly, the child must be able to keep their legs stable on either side of the car while sitting on it. Tone
is needed for this skill so that the child can maintain their position as well as stabilize themselves. The
child could be stabilizing

Gillette Marketing Plan
Managerial Marketing
Marketing Plan
Questions for Discussion
1. Evaluate product innovation at Gillette throughout its history. Has Gillette been a victim of its own
success? Has product innovation in the wet shaving market come to an end? Explain.
While evaluating the product innovation at Gillette throughout its history, it is easy to relate to the
companies ups and downs, as well as its struggles. Especially in the younger developmental years, we
see the resilience of the company and the drive that was necessary in order to continue operations.
These hardships pushed the company to continue to refine its product and mine for new innovations. It
was stated that the Gillette Company lead the personal care and grooming industry ... Show more

Overall, one upmanship can be deadly to both companies whom constantly try to outdo themselves
and also offer better prices. The primary reason why this can be deadly is by cutting profit margins
thinner and thinner. Ultimately price is what sells and item and not quality, especially if the quality is
marginal. You don t have to go far to see this classical struggle. Gas stations are a prime example of
one upmanship. Profit margins on gas are noted to be very thin. If you consider gas station prices on
neighboring stations, they are typically very close if not the same. These stations have effectively
locked themselves into a commitment to match or exceed their competitor s price in order to draw
higher sales, because ultimately what sells gas at neighboring gas stations is the best price.
3. What actions would you recommend over the next five years that would help Gillette maintain its
worldwide dominance in the shaving market? What specific marketing program discussions would
you recommend? Should Gillette be worried about Schick? Explain.
Over the next five years, it is recommended that Gillette continue innovation. Innovation is key in any
market; you must continue to exceed customer expectation while continuing to meet basic needs. Over
the next five years, it is also important to keep up with changes in market demands and also listening
to consumer feedback. Marketing programs that involve getting guys to try their new

Arranging A Marriage In India Summary
Arranging a Marriage in India by Serena Nanda is an insightful article in my opinion. As an American,
our culture regarding marriage is very basic with searching for love on our own and then deciding for
ourselves who we should marry or even if we shall marry at all. This article gives insight into how this
process is viewed as acceptable and the complex process of arranging a marriage for a son.
The author begins with the basics of marriages in India, explaining that arranged marriages are so
common that marriages not setup have a special term. She goes on to speak of how the couples set to
wed usually do not meet before the ceremony and that if they do, it is for only a momentary
conversation after the decisions have been made. However, she points out, that if one person objects to
the match that the parents agreed to, they do not have to wed.
The author then leads into her own opinions and cultural biases. She finds the tradition unjust and

Sita gives her own view point and justifies how she so readily hands over this responsibility to her
parents. In Sita s culture, parents are highly respected and are seen as experienced enough to offer
guidance in such an important decision. Sita goes on to explain how in India young persons do not
date and have minimal social interaction with the opposite sex. Sita then reasons that instead of
wasting all their time searching for the right person like Americans, young people readily give up this
duty to their parents so that they can enjoy their lives and let their parents worry. Sita s next
justification on how she knows she will marry a good man is that her parents investigate their
background, checks their social standing, and various other particulars. Her final defense against the
author s questioning about how she marries a stranger is that she has a lifetime to get to know and love

Affirmative Action Should Not Be A Program
Combat racism, with more racism. That is a strategy that seems so backward in thought that it should
not be a program in modern American government and yet is still very active today. Affirmative action
is defined as the practice of improving the educational and job opportunities of members of groups
that have not been treated fairly in the past because of their race, sex, etc (Merriam Webster).
Affirmative action creates a blatantly unfair advantage in college and job applications to non minority
races and is ultimately a racist law. Affirmative action is most prominent in the College admission
process, where its racial prioritizing is the most blatant. In 2005, it was found that the acceptance rates
for African Americans at MIT were 98.7% higher than the acceptance rates for Whites or Asians
(College Admission Officers). Affirmative Action was passed in 1961 by John Fitzgerald Kennedy to
combat racial tensions in college admissions and the workforce. It gave an opportunity to minorities
that may have been previously set back from racist laws and rules to have a chance at changing their
lives for the better. This artificial raising of minority opportunities has lasted for more than two
generations and has long outlived its purpose. Affirmative Action in its modern day use is racist at the
expense of the non minority race(s), and was meant for minority advancement in a world where it was
almost impossible. Today, all races are equal in the eyes of all the

The Music Of Guns N Roses
Guns N Roses is a heavy metal band that helped the rise of heavy metal as the mainstream genre in the
1980 s. Their music has a unique sound with influences from heavy metal and hair metal/glam metal
periods. One song that illustrates both of these musical influences is the song Welcome to the Jungle
on the album Appetite for Destruction .
The members of Guns N Roses got their start as a band in Los Angeles, California. At the time of their
band rising to fame, America was still in the transition of heavy metal becoming a mainstream genre
again. Although metal was present throughout the 1980 s it was not until the late 80 s when it achieved
mainstream success. The popular music genres at the time were hip hop, electronic music, soft rock,
alternative rock, and pop music. Country music was also a popular genre of music in the early 1980 s
but eventually got less popular. While Guns n Roses were building up their popularity it took nearly a
year to get the gigs they were looking for. In that year the odds were against the band. They had a hard
time when it came to getting gigs because ... a series of frenzied, violent shows landed the Gunners on
the shit list of everyone, including club owner, rival bands and the press everyone but the fans, who
grew in numbers with each passing gig, (Del, Axl Rose: The Rolling Stone Interview ). Once they had

Paul s Ministry to Thessalonica Essay
The Apostle Paul was a traveling man. One must simply look at the various places where he preached
and established churches to confirm this fact. The letters of Paul found in the canonical Bible establish
connections with Rome, Corinth, Galatia, Ephesus, Philippi, Colossae, and Thessalonica. Paul was
heavily involved with the formation of the church in the final location, a city now known as
Thessalonki, and continued to support it through his letters. The church in Thessalonica dealt with
much oppression and persecution during its formative years. That kind of beginning contributed to
much uncertainty in the young church, especially considering that Paul, its founder, was not always
with them. Paul s ministry to the church can be found in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not finding the two leaders, they attacked the house of new convert, drug him and several other
believers before city authorities, and accused them of seeking to cause disturbance. The converts were
released on bail and Paul and Silas were hurried off to another city.[2] From the very beginning the
Christians in Thessalonica were in a hostile environment.
The issue of persecution continues to exist in Pauls letters to the Thessalonians. At the beginning of 1
Thessalonians 2, Paul recalls the opposition that the gospel message faced when he first visited the
city. Thankfully, Paul did not just write about the hardship that persecution brought. We learn from his
writings that Paul addressed the troubles that the church was currently facing by sending Timothy to
help the Thessalonians deal with the opposition that they faced. He is encouraged when Timothy
returns with a positive report of the churchs faith and love.[3] Paul was honest with the believers
about the nature of persecution. The apostle writes that he warned those in Thessalonica that such
oppression would occur. In fact, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we were to
suffer persecution; so it turned out, as you know.[4] One of the key aspects in helping those that are
struggling is encouragement. Paul attempted to encourage the church when he wrote about Timothys
glowing assessment of the

Tony Robbins
The quality of your communication is the quality of your life Tony Robbins. How motivating. It
should be because Tony Robbins is a very famous and successful motivational speaker. This quote
couldn t be more true. Good communicators have a very successful life and in order to master
communication, one must understand communication theory. According to the text, Introducing
Communication Theory Analysis and Application, communication is defined as a social process in
which individuals employ symbols to establish and interpret meaning in their environment . There are
many different definitions of communication, but all communication definitions explain the process of
transmitting information, the framework of the information, and the effects of that information.
Understanding communication theory can be very rewarding and very beneficial to people s personal
and professional lives. It can help with public speaking, interviews, relationships, and so much more.
The world is always changing, which means communication is too. Taking a communication theory
class helps students make sense of the world around us, express our wants, needs and desires to others
in an appropriate manner. Employers are always looking for good communicators to hire.
Corporations are noticing how beneficial an effective communicator is for their business. According to

Moving Out Of My House In Iowa Falls
The house that built me
Never in a million years did I think that I would be moving out of my house in Iowa Falls. Growing
up my dream had always been to someday move back to Iowa Falls, and live in that house. That was
until my mom and dad sat me down on the porch after one of my baseball games and broke the news
that we d be moving to Clear Lake after baseball season. I had had known for a couple months that
there was a good chance that we were going to be moving. I sat there on the enclosed front porch
looking out around the neighborhood thinking about all the great times that I d had at that house.
When you would approach my house you would notice a large evergreen tree sitting right outside our
house, it used to look like one of those big Christmas Trees that you d see on tv getting lit up, but it
got a disease that killed a lot of the branches. The branches that were left on the tree were like ladders
making it perfect for climbing. There were many days that my brothers and I would have contests to

A Symbol of Girl Power
Sword, armor, banner now the Maid was ready for her first military move (Yeatts, 29). Joan of Arc,
also known as the Maid of Orléans, led an army at the age of eighteen and successfully changed the
tide of the 100 Years War with her cleverness and bravery. Cunning and kind at the same time, Joan of
Arc used her belief in herself and in God to make everyone around her more hopeful for a better
outcome to the war. Born January 6, 1412 in Domrémy France, Joan of Arc began to hear voices at the
age of thirteen. Claiming to be guided by the Archangel Michael, St. Catherine, and St. Margaret, the
Maid set out to Vaucouleurs to at age sixteen to say that she was destined to save France and to
request an escort to go see the heir, or dauphin, Charles VII. Although turned down twice before
Robert de Beaudricourt, the commander of a fortress near Vaucouleurs, gave in to her appeals, Joan of
Arc was insistent. After two years of nonstop effort, she was finally granted permission to journey to
speak with the dauphin. Joan of Arc gave girls in the world today a reason to be proud.

Characteristics Of Ben Jonson
Jonson was one of the leading protagonists in the most vibrant period of early English theatre. Jonson
s life spanned the years 1573 to 1637, a period of extraordinary change in English society. Passionate
and volatile, he was a man with a clear eye for the world around him. His plays are noted for their
satirical view of the modern class relations that were beginning to develop at that period. Jonson is
often accused of being constricted in his writing by classical references, but he no way borrowed from
the classics. In fact, part of his creative genius was his ability to rework themes and ideas to fit the
contemporary setting. He drew directly on ancient mythology in his masques for the royal court.
Jonson also drew on the English tradition of medieval morality plays, where actors personified human
characteristics. Jonson welded all these influences into a theatre that was purposeful and aimed at
playing a critical role in society. His comedies brought a new realism as well as a sharp eye for
outlining human character types. He gave a new sense of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His awareness of his ultimate dependence on the audience can be seen in so simple and complex a
gesture as his ending of Volpone. Any serious artist must be prepared for the dirt of which, justly or
unjustly, Jonson received more than his share along with the praise. Hence concluding the essay
saying that Jonson really was a man apart from his contemporaries, and whether, indeed, he was ever
really secure in such a notion of himself. Certainly, the defensive and desperate tone of many of his
responses to his base detractors , and his increasing tendency to cut himself down to size via his
fictional counterparts, suggest that he was not secure. His obsession with authorial control
notwithstanding, Jonson must have been cognizant of the theatrical medium s resistance to control by

The End Of Apologetics Summary
The End of Apologetics In The End of Apologetics Myron Bradley Penner addresses the question of
how we are to do apologetics in our day in age. One of the main topics in this book is how the
Enlightenment has shaped how apologetics is done in the modern culture. Penner believes that the
Enlightenment erased our knowledge of past moral discourse (3). This carried over into the Christian
community and shaped how they approached apologetics. The focus shifted to be more centralized on
evidence and reason (7). Christians need to be equipped to deal with these new challenges that secular
society poses against Christians because ultimately the task of apologetics is a Christian s duty.
Christian apologetics should be utilize language well in order to faithfully articulate its message. This
includes examining one s own cultural biases. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Penner never truly defines the line between being understanding and loving and
compromising on key issues. The relational aspect of apologetics is one that is missing in the current
age, but one may easily compromise his or her orthodoxy by following Penner s example. Penner
stresses this relational approach in the context of the Postmodern context, but it is important in every
context. His story of John, the Roman Catholic Atheist, also brings up the question of the distinction
between apologetics and evangelism. He describes the story as being apologetics, but they were trying
to win John to faith in Christ. Penner uses this to describe that the reason he rejects how the modern
day from of apologetics is done is because it focuses on winning an argument rather than reaching the

Rock And Roll In The 1970 s
Rock and Roll all began in the 1950 s and we have the amazingly talented pioneer Chuck Barry to
thank for that. Though Chuck Berry was the start of it all, Elvis Presley was the rebel that gave Rock
and Roll a name and a face! This new genre of music took off once Elvis Presley began performing
and the youth of the time could not get enough. Elvis Presley had introduced and widely popularized
lyrics and dancing of a sexual nature. There was an unfortunate downfall of the rock stars in the 50 s
due to the outrage of the adult community. Rock and Roll in the 1960 s was reborn thanks to the
incredibly famous rock band known as The Beatles. The Beatles appearance on Ed Sullivan s
television show in early 1964 launched Beatlemania in the United States, which led to the British

The peace signs, long hair, tie dye, incense, and hippie values were popular everywhere at this point.
So the rock music styles of the 1970 s traced their influences from the late sixties. A few of these
artists for example, Yes, The Eagles, The Allman Brothers Band, Steely Dan, and Alice Cooper. By the
late 1970 s the rise of Black Pop, Reggae, and Disco had begun. A notable shift that took place in this
era is Black Pop or Funk. James Brown was the father of Funk. His aggressive singing and rhythmic
groove created what we know as funk today. A prime example of an artist of the Reggae style that was
introduced in this decade was the one and only Bob Marley. Disco emerged into the mainstream in the
mid to late seventies with artists like The Bee Gees and Donna Summer. Disco was a complete and
utter disgrace to any original artist and the Rock and Roll community would not stand for

The Problem With Subprime Mortgages And Minorities
The problem with Subprime Mortgages and Minorities
When it comes to buying a home there are a few things you need first. Of course you need money , but
what if you don t have the money but you want to get a home? Well you would apply for a loan, but
there are two loans you could qualify for and those two are known as prime loans and subprime loans.
There are far too many cases where there are well qualified people with the credentials to get a prime
loan but were denied, forcing them to settle for worse forms of credit such as subprime loan. The
problem is that it is unethical to even offer these subprime loans because of the debt that it puts
subprime borrowers in. Through my research I have gathered I have determined that well qualifying
minorities, in particular blacks and Hispanics, have been denied prime mortgages based on race and
prejudices, making them easier prey for less convenient loans such as subprime mortgages, which
results in higher default and foreclosure rates amongst minority residences.
Subprime loans A subprime loan is a loan given to people who generally have bad to below average
credit and are charged with higher interest rates because of past credit history. Subprime mortgages
was designed to help those Americans who want to achieve the goal of homeownership for low
income minorities (Gorton 12). The unethical dilemma is that the lender has the choice to decide
whether to refinance or not at the end of the first period without the borrower

Piracy In The United States
Piracy first and foremost is an attempt to copy or make use of what was not originally produced by the
individual without right permission or authorization by the sole owner of this product for profitable
means. This is a huge problem in even the most advanced of countries as a lot of individuals don t see
the damage or wrong in taking part in the buying and selling of these movies. As time and age has
become more technological so has the art of piracy blossomed because of the easy access to
technology there are different kinds of piracies, there is the video piracy, DVD piracy, cable piracy
and many others. While strict laws have been put place to manage and prevent the occurrence of this
event. Regardless of this it still is rampant and occurs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mountain Pine Beetle Research Paper
Our forests are extremely vital and important to our world and society. They supply us with oxygen
and other essiential human needs. However, the number of trees in our forests has been decreasing at
an alarming rate due to human interaction and other factors. There have been desperate attempts in
order to increase the number of trees in our forests as well. Scientists have experimented with
biotechnology in order to test factors that affect trees. In this paper, I will review loblolly pines, and
mountain pine beetles, and discuss which will have more of an effect on the number of trees in our
forests.

However I believe that the affects of mountain pine beetle will have a more major impact on the
number of trees in our forests
The ideas of cloning and regeneration of loblolly pines discussed by Li and Gupta are effective and
work. However, we as a society simply don t have the time, money, research or manpower to be
constantly regenerating clones and cloning loblolly pines. The process also has negative effects on our
environment and our health. Loblolly pines can also only be cloned or regenerated in small numbers
and it s not enough to compensate for the number of dying trees. Due to these reasons, the idea of
cloning and regeneration of loblolly pines is not practical and is not enough to compensate for the
mass number of dying trees.
However, Mountain Pine Beetles are extremely destructive and devasting to forests. Even though
there is no direct correlation between Mountain Pine Beetles and forest fires, they are still destructive
nevertheless. Mountain Pine Beetles do have the time, and manpower to continue to cause mass
deforestation. Another reason is that there have been attempts to clone these beetles. Keeling
attempted to clone the particle that triggers the attack of the mountain pine beetles. With even more
potential beetles, these beetles will most definitely continue to wreak havoc across the forests of

The Education Of The Virgin Islands
But the improvements made within the department never stopped there. In the high wings of
discussing what there would be in the sense of higher education, many ideas came about. The greatest
achievement in education in the Virgin Islands was the establishment of the College of the Virgin
Islands, now called the University of the Virgin Islands, resulting in adding higher education to the
territory (Modern Times). In recent outlooks from people in the community, they could say that the
teachers are underpaid in the Virgin Islands. There are so many reasons for the underpayment of the
teachers that are too numerous to mention. Teachers in the Virgin Islands Education Department are
paid in the salary range of $32,000 to $66,000 a year (3 7). These salaries compared to the national
average are not close to the usual pay rate for teachers. From previous learnings, teachers in the U.S.
are usually paid over $65,000 a year on average. Principals and Assistant Principals in the V.I.
Education Department are paid in the salary range of $70,000 to $95,000 a year (Staff). Department
heads think that there was some sort of budget cut along the way in order to justify receiving such low
salaries. The Department of Education tries its best daily to fight for the proper wages of its
employees and counterparts that make a difference to the territory s children each and every academic
calendar year. Teachers must make major sacrifices to make ends meet on the meager salaries that

The Media and Its Influence on Culture Today
The Media and It s influence on Culture today
Media Violence is an extremely controversial topic that reoccurs in the everyday life of the modern
human. In our modern world, everyone is affected by media violence. The media has the ability to
change your opinion on something by it s persuasive and corrupted ways to present information.
People of all ages can be affected in this due to the many ways to receive modern day media. We can
see it in major news programs, TV shows, movies, video games, and music.
The media is something that can t be taken for granted. It s all around us, everywhere we go it faces us

Kids nowadays know more about the Internet than you could imagine.
Parents should learn to take the time to monitor what their kids go on, take the time to learn what is
appropriate and what is not. Learn how to avoid seeing or sharing violent messages and images.
Knowledge is they key to power. You should always know what s going on in someone s life,
especially if it involves them or anybody else . (Youth Engage 2014) Many parents have no idea what
goes on when their kids go upstairs or go into a different room. Children could be getting violated or
harassed and no one would ever know. So before it happens, think about how much freedom children
should have online.
If you think this stuff doesn t happen it does. Many people think media violence isn t as serious as it
actually is, but in reality this sort of stuff happens all the time. Major news corporations are widely
known for their corrupt stories of major headlines. One major case known by the whole country is the
Trayvon Martin shooting. Martin was a 17 year old African American high school student who was
stopped by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman. Zimmerman claimed he shot and killed
Martin out of self defense. The media took this story and exploded it into a nationwide topic. They
portrayed Trayvon as a young innocent man who looked to do no wrong doing. They only displayed
pictures of Trayvon when he looked young and innocent. They

Casablanca Film Analysis
Casablanca was released in 1942 by the director Michael Curtiz. The film was considered one of the
best motion pictures ever made. The film s multinational cast, strong emotions, and the love triangle
helped it become a classic film remembered for all time. The scene I will analyze is the last scene in
the film where Rick Blaine and Ilsa were saying their final goodbyes as an airplane was in the
background setting was one of the greatest scenes in the history of romantic films and the history of
cinema itself.
This scene had four main characters who were Rick Blaine played by Humphrey Bogart, Ilsa Lund
played by Ingrid Bergman, Victor Laszlo played by Paul Henreid, and Captain Louis Renault played
by Claude Rains. Rick Blaine was the owner of Rick s Café Américain. He appears in the whole film

However, at the end of the film Rick becomes the hero and he sacrifices his love to Ilsa and his life in
Casablanca so that Victor Laszlo can get away with Ilsa and finish his political work. Ilsa is extremely

that she is in love with Rick, back when they were in Paris and also after she arrived to Casablanca.
Her feelings are always dreamy and vague which makes it hard to understand what she wants. Ilsa
didn t had an easy life, and one of the greatest tragic in the whole film is her fate. Finally, at the
closing scene of the film, one can feel that the chances of Ilsa living happily ever after ending do not
exist. Victor Laszlo is

Manny Goodman Segregation
The 1930s, historically remembered for the Great Depression and President Roosevelt s New Deal,
demonstrated a time of great racial tension and segregation. Slavery dissolved and the Ku Klux Klan
remained less popular; the struggle of African Americans, however, was not over. Racial segregation
continued to thrive with half of African Americans out of work, their jobs given to whites who were
struggling from the Great Depression ( Race During the Great Depression ). The New Deal, created to
promote equality and produce jobs, was largely ineffective on the front of desegregation, doing little
to help the black American community. One place that African Americans were able to prosper: jazz.
However, even the jazz community itself proved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Duke Ellington Orchestra and Count Basie (History.com). Lionel Hampton, Gene Krupa, Buck

appearances ( History of the Hall ). The Carnegie Hall concert was not just important because it
included black musicians, it was important because it made Benny Goodman even more famous; He
was so high so often on the popularity charts that he ranks above all but five other artists making
recording between 1890 and 1954 (Gridley 89). The sold out concert goes down in history as the first
time a jazz concert was famously performed outside of a bar or nightclub (The Chronicle of Jazz).
What message does that send to the rest of the jazz world? One of inclusion; one can be both popular
and racially progressive. This message is sent best from an already popular musician: if anyone can
make a mixed band acceptable to the public Benny Goodman can ( DownBeat Dodges the Racial

Mexico From 1876 To 1911
Question 1:
From 1876 to 1911, The regime of Porfirio Diaz ruled Mexico and he was overthrown by a popular
uprising in the end. Then a stable populist, nationalist government called Institutional Revolutionary
Party came to the stage of history with its inward looking economic policy.
This policy and social system were defended by an iron triangle of industrial oligarchs, politicians and
labor unions until the late 1970s when new oil discoveries, high price of oil and large loans from
foreign banks thrown the Mexican economy to a feverish boom.
At that time, a few financial problems occurred, meaning there was a risk that Mexico would fail to
pay on time as negligible. Within a few months, the crisis spread through most of Latin America and

  • 2. Suggested Strategy for Central High School Needs Assessment As chair of the committee charged with the recommendation for the purchase of new computer equipment, I will detail a suggested plan for this $50,000 project at Central High School. The high school has 1000 students in four grade levels (9th through 12th), and has approximately 60 and 20 supporting staff. An inventory of the computers at the whole school was conducted to understand what is currently available. There is currently one computer lab per grade level in the school with 22 computers each, allowing for each grade use of this for one period per day. There are also two computers in each classroom (one for student use, one for teacher use) as well as a bank of computers in the library. There are also individual computers for the guidance counselors, nurse, principals and assistant principals, and office staff. As the inventory was being done, a survey was passed out to all of the staff asking where the needs were greatest and what specific equipment was lacking. The overwhelming desire of the majority of the teachers was more computers in the individual classrooms, specifically in the math and science rooms as a lot of current information was required and there was a lot of competition for its use. There was a great desire to be flexible and move the computer from place to place, such that a laptop computer or tablet computer was preferred over a desktop. • 3. Stereotypes In Upton Sinclair s The Jungle Stereotypes exist everywhere, individuals stereotype others as well as themselves. Stereotypes function in society as a perceived notion of a group of individuals based upon prior experience from a select few people from aforementioned group. Stereotypes exist within literature as well; stereotypes can be used to help personify individuals and make the best stock characters. The stereotype of a character can be used to better exemplify what people may or may not be really like. In The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, Sinclair stereotypes immigrants to show their initial optimism, ignorance and finally the realization of what life is really like. Immigrants or foreigners are usually shown as being optimistic about coming to a new land, especially with living the American Dream . Jurgis is telling others That is well enough for men like you, he would say, silpnas, puny fellows but my back is broad (page 20). Jurgis is optimistic that it would not hurt him, if he were to be beaten, but he is also a young individual with a lack of true work. Like many others that were coming over to the United States during the time period, their perceived notion of how work is in the United States is not the same as what is concurrently occurring. Sinclair uses that opportunity to show how confident Jurgis is feeling about his working ability and because he worked in Lithuania, it must be the same. Sinclair also uses a group of foreigners being exposed to new experiences and sights. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay on Education Policy in Michigan An outdated education system is the largest problem Michigan faces because it affects not only the present, but also the future of the state. Important issues cannot be solved, nor policies created to remedy them, if the people attempting to solve them are not equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to make informed decisions. The state cannot run itself, let alone the nation as a whole, if its people are uneducated. The Constitution, the very basis of our government, relies heavily on the assumption that citizens of the United States are able to make knowledgeable and well reasoned decisions, the types of which cannot be made when a person does not receive a proper education. After several years of success, the required cuts along with economic woes rendered Proposal A largely ineffective and unable to properly fund Michigan s schools, creating a massive problem in the way Michigan school districts are to be funded, as well as developing a need for new educational policy to supplement or overhaul Proposal A and the Michigan educational system. The educational funding problem in Michigan takes root back in 1809, when the first public school was founded. While funding was not an issue at the time, the way schools were funded through local property taxes eventually created a large problem. Fast forward to 1985, Michigan has long moved past the rural cities of the 1800 s and into affluent suburbs and cities. The size and taxation pools of cities have greatly changed from 1809 to 1985, but the way schools were funded remained exactly the same. This lack of change led to a large disparity in school funding from richer districts to poorer districts. Coupled together with local governments inability to convince citizens to vote in favor of millages and tax hikes, the disparity ballooned. In 1993, Bloomfield Hills ranked in the 99th percentile of Michigan schools, was spending on average $10,294 per student, while Standish Sterling ranked in the bottom 1st percentile, spent $3,738 per student, roughly a $6,500 difference per student (Roy 2003). Current spirometers available in the market are expensive and usually cost over $1,000. Due to this high cost, many physicians practicing in developing countries like India, cannot afford spirometry equipment. As a result, millions of people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, are unable to be effectively monitored or treated for their disease. Thus, the development of a low cost reliable spirometer would allow these physicians to assess their patient s pulmonary health. All these factors led to the development of a product which addresses cost issues as well as technical accuracy[1] . A computer based miniaturized spirometer system is Designed to be realized which would use a solid state pressure sensor. That is a strategy that seems so backward in thought that it should not be a program in modern American government and yet is still very active today. Affirmative action is defined as the practice of improving the educational and job opportunities of members of groups that have not been treated fairly in the past because of their race, sex, etc (Merriam Webster). Affirmative action creates a blatantly unfair advantage in college and job applications to non minority races and is ultimately a racist law. Affirmative action is most prominent in the College admission process, where its racial prioritizing is the most blatant. In 2005, it was found that the acceptance rates for African Americans at MIT were 98.7% higher than the acceptance rates for Whites or Asians (College Admission Officers). Affirmative Action was passed in 1961 by John Fitzgerald Kennedy to combat racial tensions in college admissions and the workforce. It gave an opportunity to minorities that may have been previously set back from racist laws and rules to have a chance at changing their lives for the better. This artificial raising of minority opportunities has lasted for more than two generations and has long outlived its purpose. The issue of persecution continues to exist in Pauls letters to the Thessalonians. At the beginning of 1 Thessalonians 2, Paul recalls the opposition that the gospel message faced when he first visited the city. • 19. Characteristics Of Ben Jonson Jonson was one of the leading protagonists in the most vibrant period of early English theatre. Jonson s life spanned the years 1573 to 1637, a period of extraordinary change in English society. Passionate and volatile, he was a man with a clear eye for the world around him. His plays are noted for their satirical view of the modern class relations that were beginning to develop at that period. Jonson is often accused of being constricted in his writing by classical references, but he no way borrowed from the classics. In fact, part of his creative genius was his ability to rework themes and ideas to fit the contemporary setting. He drew directly on ancient mythology in his masques for the royal court. Jonson also drew on the English tradition of medieval morality plays, where actors personified human characteristics. One of the main topics in this book is how the Enlightenment has shaped how apologetics is done in the modern culture. Penner believes that the Enlightenment erased our knowledge of past moral discourse (3). This carried over into the Christian community and shaped how they approached apologetics. The focus shifted to be more centralized on evidence and reason (7). Of course you need money , but what if you don t have the money but you want to get a home? Well you would apply for a loan, but there are two loans you could qualify for and those two are known as prime loans and subprime loans. There are far too many cases where there are well qualified people with the credentials to get a prime loan but were denied, forcing them to settle for worse forms of credit such as subprime loan. The problem is that it is unethical to even offer these subprime loans because of the debt that it puts subprime borrowers in. However I believe that the affects of mountain pine beetle will have a more major impact on the number of trees in our forests The ideas of cloning and regeneration of loblolly pines discussed by Li and Gupta are effective and work. However, we as a society simply don t have the time, money, research or manpower to be constantly regenerating clones and cloning loblolly pines. The process also has negative effects on our environment and our health. Loblolly pines can also only be cloned or regenerated in small numbers and it s not enough to compensate for the number of dying trees. Due to these reasons, the idea of cloning and regeneration of loblolly pines is not practical and is not enough to compensate for the mass number of dying trees. However, Mountain Pine Beetles are extremely destructive and devasting to forests. Even though there is no direct correlation between Mountain Pine Beetles and forest fires, they are still destructive nevertheless. Mountain Pine Beetles do have the time, and manpower to continue to cause mass deforestation. Another reason is that there have been attempts to clone these beetles. Keeling attempted to clone the particle that triggers the attack of the mountain pine beetles. With even more potential beetles, these beetles will most definitely continue to wreak havoc across the forests of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Then a stable populist, nationalist government called Institutional Revolutionary Party came to the stage of history with its inward looking economic policy. This policy and social system were defended by an iron triangle of industrial oligarchs, politicians and labor unions until the late 1970s when new oil discoveries, high price of oil and large loans from foreign banks thrown the Mexican economy to a feverish boom.
