The Cognitive Revolution In The 1950s And 1960s
The changes in how different psychological processes were identified and understood in the 1950s and
1960s is what many refer to as the cognitive revolution. The introduction of research in problems that
have already been met for instance, studying problems of memory and decision making led to the new
approach of theorizing. The cognitive revolution focused on just a couple of key concepts. One idea
that stemmed during the cognitive revolution is that the science of psychology cannot direct study the
mental world. Another idea that grew during the cognitive revolution was that in order to understand
behavior, the science of psychology has to study the mental world (Cognition, pg. 8). Research
performed by Wilhelm Wundt and Edward Titchener concluded that the only way to study thoughts is
to introspect, or examine one s own thoughts and feelings, to observe and record content of their
personal minds and understand the sequence of their own experiences. This proved to be a difficult
task, nonetheless. Wundt and Titchener believed that introspectors would need to be carefully trained.
The training included being given a vocabulary to describe what they observed, taught to be as careful
and complete as possible reporting solely on their experiences, with as little personal interpretation as
possible. Concerns grew with this style of research over the years. Investigators were forced to
acknowledge that some thoughts are unconscious, which would mean that

Concept And It s Implication On Accounting Practises
CURRENT ISSUES ASSIGNMENT: ESSAY Prepared by: Prashnit singh ID: 1242222 Lecturer:
Helen Tregidga Abstract The objective of this essay is to research about integrated reporting and write
about the concept and it s implication on accounting practises. For the research I used journal articles
to help me understand and explain the concept of integrated reporting. The results which I obtained
from the research are that integrated reporting is very useful for organisations because it helps to
develop new understanding of corporate report. However, due to lack of framework and standards,
gathering all the nonfinancial and financial information for an integrated report can be a difficult task
for organizations. Introduction The essay contains an introduction of integrated reporting followed by
the main body which consists of three questions. The first question is talking about what is integrated
reporting and its concepts. The second question is describing benefits and challenges of integrated
reporting. Finally, the third question is explaining what effects does integrated reporting has on
accounting practices. The essay concludes with a conclusion. Main body What is integrated reporting
and the concepts of it? Integrated reporting seeks to provide insights about the relationship and
resources used and affected by an organization. According to (Roberts, Leigh 2014), it s a

The Knife Of Never Letting Go Literary Devices
Effective diction, literary devices and structural devices are the most important element of a novel. In
the passage of the novel titled The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness is developed deeply by
different kinds of devices. In the authors opinion, the passage in the novel is about Todd s hatred
towards the town and how it is developed by effective diction, literary devices and structural devices.
Effective diction has a played a huge part in the development of the passage. Firstly in the passage,
there is an example of effective diction and how it adds effect to the surroundings. For example, Todd
said, You have to avoid the river and especially that marshy part before the swamp trees start cuz that s
where the crocs live, easily big enough to kill an almost man and his dog. () Todd is describing the
swamp, as marshy means a muddy, soggy piece of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Effective diction has played a huge role by developing Todd s mood, the environment and his feelings
towards Manchee. Literary devices have played a big part by advancing the events that took place near
the swamp, and structural devices have played a part refining the passage with repetition, a run on
sentence and a sentence fragment. This passage has been modified and adjusted by effective diction,
literary devices and structural devices. This passage enhances one of the major themes in this book
which is loss of innocence. Todd has slowly been losing his innocence throughout the book. This
passage represents the theme of loss of innocence because you hear Todd say the eff word as it is
referred to, as he gets smacked by Aaron. Another example of when he represented the loss of
innocence was when he gets so mad and just starts revealing his true feelings and says he hates
everybody. This is not an act of

The World Is A State Of Crisis
The world is in a state of crisis. Many current national and global issues that are occurring are caused
by our methods of transportation and more specifically how they are powered. Gasoline, oil, and coal
are just a few examples of some root causes. This can be fixed and luckily it seems that as a collective,
we are furthering our understanding and advancements in cleaner energy and thereby providing a
safer, healthier environment. There are many current companies that are striving for a better tomorrow
by moving transportation methods away from oil and gas and towards electricity and magnetism. For
example, Tesla Motors seems to be leading the way in electric cars and has even released its patents so
that other companies who produce ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first is called the Copenhagen Wheel and the second is the FlyKly. The Copenhagen wheel does
not seem to use magnets in its design while FlyKly does. Since the FlyKly uses electromagnetism I
decided to focus on it. The FlyKly team decided to use a website called Kickstarter.com to start and
fund their idea. They set a goal of one thousand dollars to be able to see their idea to fruition. Backers
ended up donating seven times that amount, allowing FlyKly to create a successful product that
surpassed all of their initial goals. According to their kickstarter page, this smart wheel only weighs
nine pounds and can generate up to two hundred and fifty watts of power, which allows a speed up to
twenty miles per hour. It uses a thirty six volt Lithium battery measured at twelve amp hours to
achieve this. The battery has a range of thirty miles and only takes two to three hours to reach full
charge. The smart wheel is used as a pedal assistant. This means that it is only on when the biker is
pedaling and makes the motion effortless, allowing easy commutes without getting sweaty. Converting
an ordinary bicycle into an efficient, relatively cheap, and clean means for transportation seems to
have fast growing interests. There are many entrepreneurs that are buying into this idea and creating
their own versions. This creates a problem. It will be difficult for one or two products to come out on
top and become popular enough to

Population Environment And The Slums Of Mumbai
INTRODUCTION:
This research paper focuses on the population environment dynamics in the slums of Mumbai. It
mainly discusses the impact of the growing slum population on water quality in Mumbai. First, the
research question and null hypotheses were stated based on the population, environment, social and
cultural contexts. Readings from class and other peer reviewed articles were used to support the stated
hypotheses and highlight the important aspects of the case study. Next, the important population
characteristics were discussed and compared to other relevant places and a summary of the
environmental and social context was also provided. Finally, the population environment relationship
was summarized for the chosen case site (Null hypotheses true or not) and implications of human
actions on the natural world were discussed.
RESEARCH QUESTION AND HYPOTHESES:
Mumbai, India s financial hub is home to more than 20 million people. Historically, slum growth in
Mumbai was a result of population growth far beyond the total carrying capacity. It resulted in overuse
of traditional land, displacing a heavy chunk of the lower middle class population to informal
settlements. Villages like Dharavi, Byculla and Khar with small scale industries got converted into
slums during this process. The rapid economic development in the 19th century also brought in a lot
of migrant population from the rural areas into a city ill equipped to deal with them [1]. This provides

The Sabbatean Controversy Born on August 1, 1626
The Sabbatean Controversy Born on August 1, 1626, in Smyrna in today s Turkey, Sabbatai Zevi
studied in a yeshiva headed by Smyrna s rabbi, Joseph Escapa, where he excelled. He was fascinated
by Jewish mysticism Kabbalah and found practical Kabbalah through which it was claimed one was
able to communicate with angels, predict the future, and perform all sorts of miracles especially
appealing. Possessing a reputation as a devoted Kabbalistic ascetic, at age 22 Sabbatai revealed
himself to a group at Smyrna as Messiah designated by God to restore the Kingdom of Israel. But at
such a young age, Sabbatai s authority did not reach far enough for him to gain many supporters, and
suspecting rabbis, including his own, put him and his followers under cherem excommunication in
Judaism. In Jerusalem, he faced persecution again from Jewish authorities and later returned to
Smyrna, where he was welcomed affectionately, publicly proclaiming himself as Messiah in 1665.
Jews throughout the world prepared to join him in a restored Kingdom of Israel the following year.
Sabbatai developed this strong following due to many different factors, including ideas of the
approach of the Messianic time becoming popular, the fact that Shabbatai pronounced the
Tetragrammaton a symbolic act, and his claiming to have been born on Tisha B Av, the Jewish day of
mourning believed to be when the Jewish Messiah will be born. However, he soon found himself in
prison in Istanbul and eventually, under severe

The Trash Sample
Within the trash sample I analyzed there were around 234 items thrown away within a week s period.
Many of the items thrown away were thrown away in pairs suggesting that two people live in the
dwelling that the sample was taken in. Some examples of items thrown away in pairs include,
Starbucks cups, church bulletins, and Bounty paper towels. Bounty paper products, napkins and paper
towels, show up on the record 24 times, suggesting that Bounty paper products are used over three
times per day, corresponding with meals. Other brands that show up in the sample often include Green
Giant, four times, Kroger Brand, twelve times. Within the Kroger brand items there are six plastic
ziploc bags, this suggests that the people who live in this home either take their lunch to work or
school, or pre package their snacks at home into serving sizes. The two church bulletins, and church
offering envelopes, suggest that both members of the household went to church once the week they
took their trash sample. Another interesting item thrown away was an old Tommy Hilfiger brand shirt.
The members of this household make enough money to throw away old clothes, suggesting that they
live comfortably. We also can tell what bank they use because they threw away a check box from
Regions bank. There was a lot of first aid items in the trash sample as well multiple boxes of bandages
and a box of non stick gauze pads this suggests that someone in the home had a wound that needed to
be dressed. One can

Suburbanisation in Surbiton Essay
Surbition London
Surbiton is a small borough in the South West of London just South of Kingston Upon Thames. It has
a population of nearly 170,000 people and has been at the centre of suburbanisation for many years
now. Much of the growth is form the centre of London
Timeline
1830 Train line between London and Southampton was built which ran near Surbiton.
1837 till 1952 The population of Surbiton grew from 200 to 2800.
1887 At this point the population was at just above 10000.
1930 A large amount of houses were built along in the centre of the village that were large houses and
a series of smaller houses were built going towards the River Thames increasing the population size
further.
1950s/1960s A lot more schools ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This causes a lot of congestion at peak times and larger vehicles such as buses and lorries cannot pass
through. Surbiton is in London travel zone 6 (zone 1 is centre of London and zone 6 covers the edge
of London), which means that train fares are quite expensive. This means that many people (40% of
Surbiton) choose to drive to work and this in turn increases the amount of traffic on the roads and
increases pollution along the roads connecting to the A3 (main road into London). The house prices
are quite high in Surbiton, the average selling price in Surbiton in 2012 was £406,000 compared to the
national average of £226,000. This makes in increasingly difficult for people on lower incomes to
move to the area which could lead to economic segregation (people with high incomes living in
different areas to those with a lower income). Another problem that was a recurring theme in the 1930
s was that people were becoming extremely ill as they couldn t afford medical attention because of the
prices they were paying for their houses along with their food and other essentials.
Management of the problems
The improvement strategy for Surbiton town centre was launched in the autumn of 2009. The strategy
involved widening a number of roads in the town, building a new access road to the station, having set
delivery times for shops so roads didn t get congested as badly and delivery bays could

The South China Sea Dispute
The South China Sea Dispute
There is a stark contrast between the schisms of the twentieth century and the ones of the twenty first.
The wars of the twentieth were primarily fought on dry land, in Europe, however, in the twenty first
century, the military, economic, and demographic focus of the globe has become increasingly
maritime. Maritime including the sea, air, and outer space, because ever since the aircraft carriers and
satellites were put into use, the air and outer space have become interconnected with naval warfare
and military activities. East Asia is a large and vast area, stretching from the Arctic to the Antarctic,
known for its broken array of shorelines and archipelagos from the Kim Islands all the way to New
Zealand. While ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chinese experts estimate that the South China Sea can ultimately yield 130 billion barrels of oil,
making it contain more oil than anywhere else in the world with the exception of Saudi Arabia. For
this reason, Chinese observers have called the South China Sea the second Persian Gulf . China s state
owned China National Offshore Oil Corporation has invested $20 billion the energy generating
resources in the South China Sea and has already taken steps to extract these natural resources. In
2014, China placed the Haiyang Shiyou 981 oil rig in contested waters, near Vietnam. The Chinese oil
rig is the first domestically built mobile drilling platform by China, and it covers the area of a football
field and stands 449 feet tall. After clashes with Vietnamese vessels, China briefly removed the oil rig,
but it was placed back near the Gulf of Tonkin on January 16, 2016. The Vietnamese government
strongly protested against the presence of a Chinese oil rig in contested waters that both China and
Vietnam claim. The rig is currently in an overlapping area between the Hainan Island (China)
continental shelf and Vietnam s continental shelf. The presence of this oil rig caused worry and has
lead to many conflicts. China is also desperate for new sources of energy, as China consumes 10
percent of all oil produced while only producing 1.1 percent. The resources in the South China Sea
could relieve China s dependence on oil coming from the Middle East through

Differences Between Adler And Uden
Many people have different views when it comes to whether writing in books is acceptable or not.
Both Mortimer Adler and Sue Uden share personal views and opinions on the practice of writing in
books. In How to Mark a Book, Adler focuses mainly on how writing in a book is important for
understanding the reading and truly makes the book yours . Whereas in the blog, Is It Okay to Deface
Your Books? , Uden discusses how writing in books is a cardinal sin and should never be done.
Although both Adler and Uden have very different opinions on this matter, they both are very
passionate about books and both views are well appreciated, but overall Alder expresses his thoughts
in a more thoughtful and personal way allowing the viewers to really ... Show more content on

She says the marking in a book is worse than writing on walls or getting something on one s clothes
because those things could be fixed and washed out, but a book is marked on forever and every time
you open that book it is there to look at you in shame. She makes her points in an almost humorous,
acceptable and sincere way and gives post it notes and scratch paper as a way to take notes without
messing up the actual book itself (Uden). Adler almost looks at not writing in books as a sin, he says
how writing in books is not an act of mutilation, but an act of love and that by writing in it, it is
absorbed into one s bloodstream (Adler 31). He makes this very personal to him because he is so
compassionate about why he believes what he believes and that allows one to also think about the
importance of writing in a personal way as well, so you see things from his point of view. In a way, his
points are given off in a less sincere and more demanding way because he feels so strongly about this
topic, but that does not discredit his ability to persuade the audience or to fully get his point

7 Features Of Macro Photography
To put it simply, macro photography is a fancy way of saying extreme close up or magnified image.
These objects are magnified to their actual life size or even greater.
WHAT IS MACRO PHOTOGRAPHY?
Have you ever wondered what that little flower symbol is on your camera? Who said you had to be a
professional photographer to take extremely close photos? The Macro mode will surprise you with its
incredible features. Taking photos so extremely close to an object is like entering a different world in
photography. Macro photos bare a real uniqueness that no other genre of photography can show. The
macro world is one of the most popular and fascinating forms of photography out there. It allows us to
take pictures so close to an object from a smaller, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first lens creates the image and the second enlarges the object.
Tripod
Having a tripod is important in macro photography because it helps keep the camera stable while
being so close. This helps prevent the picture turning out blurry or unfocused.
7 steps on how to capture that perfect Macro shot
MACRO MODE
1. You will need to turn your camera on to macro mode . There should be a small symbol that looks
like a tulip flower on the settings that will switch it to macro. Doing this will change the zoom and
allow you to capture images at its actual size.
STABILITY
2. Set your tripod up in a position that is stable and not moveable. Macro photography requires no
camera movement and a lot of focus. The closer you get to the object, the more it will shake while
trying to take the picture. To avoid this, make sure your tripod is sturdy and will not shake.
LIGHTING
3. If there is not enough natural lighting or you re in a dark room, you will need to use flash or you can
make your own artificial lighting. You can create a golden effect by using gold tinfoil to reflect onto
the object. Natural lighting is always going to be a better option rather than using flash or artificial

Three Times In China
Three Times: Republican, China, Socialist, China, and Post Mao China Introduction The twentieth
century was not only transformational but also traumatic for China just like other societies. Notably,
the prevalence of warfare in China was high throughout the century. In addition to war, dramatic
peacetime economic and social changes characterized the country s twentieth century. These shifts
often resulted from official policies related to redistribution of property, collectivism experiments, and
land reforms. China s early cinema industry represented these changes through films such as the
Goddess, the Red Detachment Woman, and Farewell my Concubine. Each of these films represented
societal shifts in the country during three unique historical periods. For instance, the Goddess is a
representation of the economic, social, and political changes in the country during the Republic China
period. Similarly, the Red Detachment of Women epitomizes China during the socialist era. Finally,
the film Farewell my Concubine depicts the Chinese society during the Post Mao age. The paper will
provide a comprehensive analysis besides comparing the social, cultural, and historical aspects of the
Chinese society based on these films. Republic China (1912 1949): The Goddess The film Goddess
revolves around the life of a struggling lower class woman. The tough economic times in the society

All The Years Of Her Life Analysis
Mother s are mysteries that we never seem to solve. Have you ever asked yourself, do I really know
my mother? Morley Callaghan in All the Years of Her Life introduced us to a mother who
demonstrates a kindness for her son, Alfred, and a strength untethered by Mr.Carr s intimidation. She
proves her unbendable patience and unwavering heart over the long years of her life. Mrs. Higgins is a
kind, strong, and patient mother.
Marley Callaghan shows Mrs. Higgins demonstrating an unfaltering kindness towards Mr. Carr who is
hard faced and stern. Alfred believes she will be harsh or will act poorly but instead, she misled him
by, [smiling] her blue eyes never [wavering], with a calmness and dignity that surprised him.
When Mr.Carr wanted to call the police, she could ve been angry but instead, she accepted his
argument politely.
She gently adds, Yes, I suppose so. It s not for me to say because he is my son[,] [y]et I sometimes
think a little good advice is the best thing for a boy. Instead of acting out of fear or panic, Mrs.
Higgins acts out of kindness, helping her son by giving a little advice. She sees her son s fault and
understands Mr.Carr s arguments, nonetheless, she decides not to reprimand him in front of the

Write About the Ways the Difficulties of Love Are Explored...
Charlotte Bronte s novel, Jane Eyre and William Shakespeare s play, Much Ado about Nothing , both
focus on the themes of love; Jane Eyre was written in 1851, the Victorian era whereas Much Ado
about Nothing was written in 1599, the Elizabethan era. Although there may be over hundreds of years
between them, both texts exhibit the ways the difficulties of love can be explored. Both texts imply
that there will be difficulties as the relationships are established. Charlotte Bronte presents a
flourishing relationship between Jane and Mr Rochester; this is evident when Mr Rochester says My

In mine eye, she is the sweetest lady ever I looked on. Again this really highlights the attraction
Claudio has for Hero is purely the result of, first, physical beauty and, second, the desire to marry a
noble and virtuous woman. While Claudio can t be faulted for desiring such qualities in a wife, it is
telling that he is ready to marry her after only this first meeting and that he goes to Leonato, not Hero
herself, to purpose marriage. This makes the audience doubt the relationship between Claudio and
Hero as it s based only on attraction. Similarly between both texts they both introduce antagonistic
characters that pose problems and difficulties to the development of the relationships. Charlotte
Bronte develops Jane and Mr Rochester s relationship slowly, which may make readers doubt the
relationship, foreshadowing the trouble ahead. Bronte uses the technique of pathetic fallacy to
highlight trouble unravelling further on in the novel. The great horse chestnut at the bottom of the
orchard had been struck by lightning in the night, and half of it split away . This quote ends the
chapter of Jane and Mr Rochester s proposal. Bronte used nature several times in the novel to
underline the approval or disapproval of a situation. In this scene, as soon as Jane accepts Mr
Rochester s proposal, a bolt of lightning strikes the chestnut tree causing it to split in half, representing
the trouble that lies ahead

The English Language
Dictionaries are a part of us, a part of life. The Oxford English Dictionary shares a space on my shelf
along with the other fascinating theories of The English Language. Samuel Johnson, a great man,
published the first Oxford Dictionary in 1755. After so many years of hard work, why are we trying to
ruin our native language through text talk? This dictionary is not only a few pages of words; in fact, it
is more useful than any other tool could ever be. Reasons to our language variation can be due to
several situations such as: politics, media, education, war and technology. [1] Skimming through a
dictionary for a significant word becomes a journey of discovery, making you feel a hundred times
more intelligent, than exploring for a word through the internet. The feeling of opening a good
paperback book; knowing that you will only read the word you are searching for is hardly usual.
Instead, you will feel hundreds of words entering your mind and ultimately it will give you the need to
search for the meanings behind these new captivating words. However, the use of a dictionary is
becoming less popular throughout schools, everything and everyone is made dependant towards the
internet. Who can blame them? The OED is at serious risk of losing its purpose. Is r language
changing? You ask. Text talk is aimed at spoken language. First of all, let s start off with the common
initialisms such as brb , omg and lol a few years back I thought that lol stood for lots of love

The Arguments Of Donald Trump
Over the past year and a half, the NFL has received a lot of grief for what their players are doing
during the national anthem. Most recently things have really started to heat up when Donald Trump
got involved. He used profanity to describe the players that kneel and stated that any players that kneel
should be fired. There are a lot of people that have this same opinion, but since he is the President, it
gets made into a much bigger deal. He is supposed to be the leader of our Nation and it seems like
there are bigger issues in the world to worry about. People are furious with him saying this about the
NFL players and thinks he should stick to those other issues. He thinks these players are disrespecting
the flag and the great people that fought for our nation and wanted to state his opinion on it. Isn t it
their civil liberty to decide if they want to stand or not? Also, is this what Colin Kaepernick was going
for when he originally took his knee, or is his idea being lost in the mix? With the research that I have

kneeling, and even my own opinion on this situation. August 14th, 2016, the San Francisco 49ers first

Final Reflection On Food Nourishment
ACE 435
Final Reflection
Jon and Rachel are awesome! Thank you all for a wonderful class!
1. Which guest speaker hosted in class this semester had the greatest impact on you? What did you
learn from him/her and how might it affect your future? The topic that had the greatest impact on me
is about food security by professor Michelson. In the lecture, we discussed the importance of food
security, the trends of rising global food demand, factors that drives the expected demand increase,
and also the relationship between income and food. The first question she came up with is why food
security became such a major challenge worldwide? In my point of view, one of the simple reason is
that everybody needs food. By answering this question, she introduced the definition of food security,
and three hierarchical pillars. I learned that population growth, climate change, and water scarcity are
some of the factor that cause food security became a problem. Also, as people become more affluent
they start to change their tastes. For example, meat consumption in both developed and developing
countries predict to increase while their income rise. Then we analyzed couple graph and table. In the
over nourishment map, we found out that Europe, North America and Oceania seems waste the most
food. In the map of meat demand driver, I learned that since two third of meat Chinese consume is
pork, China actually consumes more total meat calories than US. Last but not least, professor
Michelson introduced Engel s law and Bennett s law. Engel s law stated that as income increase, the
portion of income spent on food falls, but the amount of money that expend on food might increase.
Bennett s law stated that as income rises, the portion of starchy food in the diet falls. One of the
interesting things I found out in her presentation is that if an average individual has an intake calories
below 1690 1930 kcal per day, he or she is undernourished. I was shock by this information because I
used to take around 1400 kcal per day, and I am actually undernourished if by this definition. After
listened to professor Michelson s speech, I realized that feeding the people is one of the greatest
challenged worldwide. The challenge is not only

A new and rather positive trend for safe sex in the U.K. has manifested as Britons are now availing
themselves of at home testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). They rely on kits that they
order online, and these kits are predicted to raise the rate of uptakes according to researchers who have
studied this phenomenon as it continues to proliferate. The same measures could be taken in the U.S.
and likely benefit Americans greatly in light of the rampant uptick in STIs partly due to online dating
services.
Researchers conducted a randomized trial that involved 2,000 participants in London, and they found
STI testing uptake to be higher at the six week mark for those who used so called e STI testing
methods than for those who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also all had access to Internet. Participants were randomized to produce one control group
among them who were all texted the locales and contact information for seven different sexual health
clinics in the area, but they were also texted a link to an e STI testing site via SH:24, a service used for
specifically this purpose.
The team found 2.8 percent of participants in the intervention group to have an STI in contrast with
the control group s 1.4 percent. About 1.1 percent of the intervention group received treatment, and
0.7 percent of the control group was treated. Of those who completed the STI test by the six week
milestone, 4.3 percent proved positive for an STI in the e STI group as opposed to the 4.6 percent in
the control group. As sexual health services develop we would like to see further work aligning online
and clinic based services, according to Paula Baraitser, another author on the study but from Kings
College London.
Going forward, we advise joint commissioning of these different modalities of care to ensure that
users are able to move easily from one to another according to their healthcare needs, allowing
continuity of care, Baraitser explains. A similar study and likely the same proposal for the U.S. could
reasonably be implemented as a way to curtail the parallel uptick in STIs. At present, a map put
together by BackgroundChecks.Org shows the distribution

The Power of Money in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby
The Power of Money in The Great Gatsby
Ex President Jimmy Carter knows both the power and the limitations of money. He is also aware that
the acquisition of money or material wealth is not a worthwhile goal. This was made clear in his
speech to the American people when he stated: Our great cities and our mighty buildings will avail us
not if we lack spiritual strength to subdue mere objects to the higher purposes of humanity
(Harnsberger 14). In F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, the author clearly illustrates that
Jay Gatsby does not understand the limitations of the power of money. Gatsby believes that money
can recreate the past, buy him happiness, and allow him to climb the social ladder in the prominent

The shirts and clothes that are ordered every spring and fall show his simpleness in expressing his
wealth to his beloved Daisy. His beautiful shirts . . . It makes me sad because I ve never seen such
beautiful shirts before (Fitzgerald 98). It seems silly to cry over simple shirts, but It is not the shirts
themselves that overwhelm her but what they symbolize . . . (Cowley 43). These shirts represent the
simple awesome manner of Gatsby s wealth and his ability to try and purchase Daisy s love, this time
through the use of extensive clothing. Fitzgerald wisely shows how Gatsby uses his riches to buy
Daisy. In the story, we know that They were careless people, Tom and Daisy they smashed up things .
. . and then returned back into their money (Fitzgerald). By this, we know that Daisy s main (and
maybe only) concern is money. Gatsby realizes this, and is powered by this. He is driven to extensive
and sometimes illegal actions. He feels he must be rich and careless for his five year love, and when
expressing Gatsby s readiness to spend any amount of money for his hopeful wife, a poem must be
stated. Then wear the gold hat, if that move her; If you can bounce high, bounce for her too, Till she
cry Lover, gold hatted, high bouncing lover, I must have you! ( ). This poem is a perfect description of
how Gatsby tries to buy Daisy, and her love. All these enlighten us to Gatsby s personality, therefore
we know Gatsby is willing to use an unlimited source

The Exploration Of The Arctic Oil Spills
In the Beginning Prior to today s mechanisms, Native Americans and European settlers retrieved
minor amounts of crude oil from holes in the ground. It was not until the mid nineteenth century when
Colonel Edwin Drake discovered the how to retrieve even larger quantities of oil. He realized that, by
drilling a hole deep enough, greater quantities of oil could be obtained. Colonel Edwin Drake
established the very first oil well in Titusville, Pennsylvania. After Colonel Edwin Drake s discovery,
the search for oil followed. Through this quest, many oil reserves were located all over North
America, with the richest reserves found in Texas. Today, oil companies have discovered rich reserves
all around the globe, including the Arctic. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Cryosphere The cryosphere refers to the frozen water part of the Earth system including the frozen
parts of the ocean, such as waters surrounding the Arctic. Recent studies show that the cryosphere is
generally in a poor state, and scientific agreement stated that average global temperatures will
continues to increase over the next century. This means that the existing risk to these climatically
sensitive areas is increasing. In the past 20 years, the amount of summer sea ice in the Arctic has
decreased dramatically, and could even disappear completely within the next hundred years. Evidence
shows that some of these depletions in the cryosphere are human induced, specifically the
fragmentation of sea ice when oil tankers break through the frozen waters to make a passageway. This
fragmentation leads to global sea rise and habitat destruction for large predators such as polar bears
and seals, in addition to other Arctic wildlife.

Mathematics In Baseball
Numbers would always seem to jump off the page for me. Unlike most, I found solace in the
therapeutic nature of numerals. It was only a few years ago, however, that I found myself intrigued by
a very unusual type of mathematics, which intersected with another passion of mine, baseball.
Baseball was simple enough to understand, yet captivating and stimulating. One element of baseball
that fascinated me, was the focus on the individual. Much of the game is played as one on one, pitcher
verses batter, and thus there are few parts of the game that depend on abstract concepts such as
teamwork and communication. These immeasurable factors which play an integral part in sports such
as basketball and football, are less significant on the baseball diamond.

Dog Training In Psychology
The dog is a faithful and loving friend of man. They are loyal, affectionate, intelligent, and are known
to be helpful for one s mental and physical health. A dog s sense of smell is said to be a thousand times
more sensitive than that of humans. Their noses have the ability to hone in on a characteristic pattern
of smells associated with certain types of cancers better than any current technology commonly
referred to as electronic noses . By looking at the pattern of smells in samples, dogs can correctly
identify them as cancerous and can be applicable for a non invasive cancer screening.
Dog training
Training a dog to detect the presence of chemical markers of cancers is no simple task. In one study,
six dogs of varying breeds and ages completed a seven month period of training. All were familiar
with obedience commands, but none had been previously trained for search or scent discrimination
tasks (Willis et al. 2004). In another study, one dog was trained twice a week for 12 months (Horvath
et al. 2008). The training is designed as a selection model, resembling that of sniffer dogs, and follows
a reward based approach. There are two objectives in the training method: recognizing the odor
signature and learning odor discrimination. Horvarth et al. (2008) trained their dog by requesting the
dog to sniff ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

researchers proposed a new approach by applying trained sniffer dogs to test the unknown volatile

Summary Of Helena Maria ViramontesUnder The Feet Of Jesus
In the passage from Under the Feet of Jesus , Helena Maria Viramontes utilizes elements such as
figurative language and selection of detail to document and analyze the development of Estrella s
character throughout the text. The perplexity and distress she feels in school is evident until she
matures by the end of the excerpt demonstrating her newly acquired potential and confidence. These
elements demonstrate how an impoverished immigrant like Estrella learns and realizes to understand
critical, essential aspects and use this to rise above her struggles and be up to par to the teacher s
expectations who deemed her unworthy. Her relationship with Perfecto Flores and his toolbox helps to
guide her to acknowledge the everlasting and infinite value of education and its significance.
Viramontes uses figurative language to compare Estrella s confused and frustrated expression when
she sees things that she doesn t understand or know what they are. She compares the tools and obscure
shaped objects from a toolbox to a foreign language that one does not understand to emphasize the
difficulty that Estrella faces when she comes into contact with these tools with a regular person who
comes into a language that is not native to their own. As the text progresses, she meets Perfecto Flores
who enlightens and educates her on the names and purposes of these tools which proves to be a
pivotal point for Estrella who feels as if she just developed her own language or alphabet . Viramontes

Authorship, Audience And Genre Of The Gospel Of Matthew
1. Authorship, audience and genre of the Gospel of Matthew
Authorship:
Most scholars, but not R.T. France (2007, pp14 22), believe that Matthew s Gospel was written by a
scribe, not the Apostle Matthew and that it was written approximately between AD 80 90. France
states that if the book was written at this time it was within Matthew s lifetime, and thus authorship
cannot be proven.
A key reason pointing to the Gospel being written by a scribe is that the Gospel was written in Greek
and that the author is very familiar with the Hebrew Bible, connecting his five discourses with Hebrew
Scriptures. Even though tax collectors, like Matthew, were known to be literate it is not necessarily
true that they would be fluent in Hebrew, Aramaic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tell the story of Jesus birth, Passion, Death and Resurrection.
The direct teachings of Jesus give instructions of how to live as Christians and the Parables were used
in the Gospel to immediately confront us with a truth and evoke a change. (Fee Stuart,2003, p. 152).
The five major discourses of Matthew s Gospel are centred around five lengthy Sermons using
parables to make a point and call the people to make a change.
2. Brief synopsis of Matthew 16:13 23
Matthew 16: 13 23 is the confession of Peter of Jesus true identity and the Prophecy of Jesus death
and resurrection.
In previous chapters, the real identity of Jesus is unknown the crowds wonder if he is the Son of David
(Matt 12:23), the disciples previously said that he was the Son of God (Matt 8:29, 14:33) and Jesus
himself identifies himself as the Son of Man (Matt 10: 23; 2:8; 12:40) and even likening himself to a
Prophet (Matt 13:57).
In Chapter 16, Jesus asked His disciples who people said He was, and who they, His disciples, think
He was. This comes at a point of time where the disciples have been witness to the Pharisees and
Sadducees wanting to test Jesus (Matt 16:1) and Jesus refusal to do so and when Jesus told them to
beware of the teachings of the Pharisees and Sadducees (Matt 16:12).
It is here that Simon Peter answers You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God (Matt 16:13 16).
Jesus acknowledges this truth and tells Peter that the only way he could

Examples Of Family In Walk Two Moons
Family is not an important thing. It s everything. In the whole world, there are many different types of
family. The broken ones, the chaotic ones, the ordinary ones and the extraordinary ones. In the novel
Walk Two Moons, written by Sharon Creech, there are some families, and all of them are unique.
There is Salamanca s family, which used to live in Bybanks, Kentucky. Salamanca is the main
character of the book, she went on a trip with her grandparents, it was the same her mother did before
dying. Salamanca was an immature girl in the beginning of the novel, but throughout, she changed a
lot. Her mother went on her own journey, and now Sal and her father lived alone. They decided to
move to Euclid, Ohio, a big city with no nature around. Unfortunately, she has a broken family. On the
other side, Ben, who was Sal s classmate and boyfriend by the end of the novel, was considered the

finally, Ben s family is categorized as strange. The author Sharon Creech of the novel Walk Two

considered as not an important theme to some people, but to me it is. Even though the author doesn t
mention family many times, one of the main things in the book is family. One phrase that I memorized
from the novel is don t judge a man until you ve walked two moons in his mocassin (Creech, 51). You

The Implementation Of E Government
Analysis
As the largest developed country, The United States has the most advanced national e government
infrastructure in the world. It also has a a long history and culture in democratic government structures
and the capitalist economic system. As a result, the US government has taken three principles in the
implementation of e government strategy. First is a citizen centered, rather than bureaucracy centered.
The other two is results oriented and market based, actively promoting in novation (source:
www.firstgov.gov). In short, the implementation strategy of e government in the US is market based
with the aim of serving and supporting citizens specific requirements, which is assessed by clear and
specific results.
Policy environment is an important consideration in the United States, in order to understand the
strategy of e government implementation. A complete set of laws related to the development of e
government is already in place, including the Privacy Act, the Computer Matching and Privacy
Protection Act, the Electronic Freedom of Information Amendments, the Computer Security Act, the
Critical Infrastructure Protection, the Government Paperwork Elimination Act, and the Electronic
Government Act (Relyea, 2002).
However, if we take China as an example of developing countries, the first e government
implementation project in China began in 1994. According to the 11th Report of the Statistic of China

construction in order to [transform] a community that might resist medical intrusion to one that would

social reality we are steeped in (that we owe to presence of a collective conscience) reproduces itself
in the epistemological the all too subjective pursuance and cultivation of knowledge regarding our

Female Pattern Baldness
Being a young women suffering from hair loss is one of the worst thing in life. A woman s hair is the
essence of her beauty, and the affects of hair loss are a crippling blow to a women s confidence.
However statistics show that only 27% of women deal with hair loss before the age of 50, that being
said most women under the age of 50 will never have to go through the emotional trauma of hair loss.
Unfortunately for me, I was had to deal with hair loss under the age of 50. It was very humiliating

Through my diligent research on the subject, now I have a head of beautiful and long hair once again.
I found that the best way to fight hair loss as women is to first know the reasons for why it happened
and how to deal with it. The reason for this is because we are all unique in every way and to just
research on one way it can happen is not smart and it can be counter productive.

rebellious nature against the main ideals of society, and the growing popularity of the hippie

No doubt, John Lennon wrote this song under the influence of the hippie subculture. This song helped
bring awareness to the public and teenagers alike, about the values of the Hippies. Another influential
song of the Hippie era is Fortunate Son by the group Creedence Clearwater Revival. This song is a
protest against the United States involvement in the Vietnam war, as the Hippies saw that the US
Army s involvement in the war as a mistake. Fortunate Son addresses the issue of the discriminating
way the government used forced conscription to recruit new soldiers as they forced the poor
population to fight much more often than people who held more political power. As much as fifty five
percent of the fighting force belonged in the working class. The message this song sends, closely
associates with the Hippie subculture view of the vietnam war. This song, also being very popular to
the teenage population, inspired teenagers to rebel against the government and societal norm, causing
teenagers to become more aware of the Hippie subculture (since rebelling against societal norms was
one of their underlying ethics.) One more artist who contributed to the change of impression in
teenagers is Buffalo Springfield. For what it s worth is another protest song written in 1966. Although

  • 2. The Cognitive Revolution In The 1950s And 1960s The changes in how different psychological processes were identified and understood in the 1950s and 1960s is what many refer to as the cognitive revolution. The introduction of research in problems that have already been met for instance, studying problems of memory and decision making led to the new approach of theorizing. The cognitive revolution focused on just a couple of key concepts. One idea that stemmed during the cognitive revolution is that the science of psychology cannot direct study the mental world. Another idea that grew during the cognitive revolution was that in order to understand behavior, the science of psychology has to study the mental world (Cognition, pg. 8). Research performed by Wilhelm Wundt and Edward Titchener concluded that the only way to study thoughts is to introspect, or examine one s own thoughts and feelings, to observe and record content of their personal minds and understand the sequence of their own experiences. Concerns grew with this style of research over the years. Investigators were forced to acknowledge that some thoughts are unconscious, which would mean that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Finally, the third question is explaining what effects does integrated reporting has on accounting practices. The essay concludes with a conclusion. In the passage of the novel titled The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness is developed deeply by different kinds of devices. In the authors opinion, the passage in the novel is about Todd s hatred towards the town and how it is developed by effective diction, literary devices and structural devices. Effective diction has played a huge role by developing Todd s mood, the environment and his feelings towards Manchee. Literary devices have played a big part by advancing the events that took place near the swamp, and structural devices have played a part refining the passage with repetition, a run on sentence and a sentence fragment. This passage has been modified and adjusted by effective diction, literary devices and structural devices. This passage enhances one of the major themes in this book which is loss of innocence. Todd has slowly been losing his innocence throughout the book. This passage represents the theme of loss of innocence because you hear Todd say the eff word as it is referred to, as he gets smacked by Aaron. Gasoline, oil, and coal are just a few examples of some root causes. This can be fixed and luckily it seems that as a collective, we are furthering our understanding and advancements in cleaner energy and thereby providing a safer, healthier environment. There are many current companies that are striving for a better tomorrow by moving transportation methods away from oil and gas and towards electricity and magnetism. For example, Tesla Motors seems to be leading the way in electric cars and has even released its patents so that other companies who produce ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the FlyKly uses electromagnetism I decided to focus on it. The FlyKly team decided to use a website called Kickstarter.com to start and fund their idea. They set a goal of one thousand dollars to be able to see their idea to fruition. Backers ended up donating seven times that amount, allowing FlyKly to create a successful product that surpassed all of their initial goals. According to their kickstarter page, this smart wheel only weighs nine pounds and can generate up to two hundred and fifty watts of power, which allows a speed up to twenty miles per hour. It uses a thirty six volt Lithium battery measured at twelve amp hours to achieve this. The battery has a range of thirty miles and only takes two to three hours to reach full charge. The smart wheel is used as a pedal assistant. This means that it is only on when the biker is pedaling and makes the motion effortless, allowing easy commutes without getting sweaty. Converting an ordinary bicycle into an efficient, relatively cheap, and clean means for transportation seems to have fast growing interests. There are many entrepreneurs that are buying into this idea and creating their own versions. This creates a problem. • 6. Population Environment And The Slums Of Mumbai INTRODUCTION: This research paper focuses on the population environment dynamics in the slums of Mumbai. It mainly discusses the impact of the growing slum population on water quality in Mumbai. First, the research question and null hypotheses were stated based on the population, environment, social and cultural contexts. Readings from class and other peer reviewed articles were used to support the stated hypotheses and highlight the important aspects of the case study. Next, the important population characteristics were discussed and compared to other relevant places and a summary of the environmental and social context was also provided. Finally, the population environment relationship was summarized for the chosen case site (Null hypotheses true or not) and implications of human actions on the natural world were discussed. RESEARCH QUESTION AND HYPOTHESES: Mumbai, India s financial hub is home to more than 20 million people. Historically, slum growth in Mumbai was a result of population growth far beyond the total carrying capacity. It resulted in overuse of traditional land, displacing a heavy chunk of the lower middle class population to informal settlements. Villages like Dharavi, Byculla and Khar with small scale industries got converted into slums during this process. The rapid economic development in the 19th century also brought in a lot of migrant population from the rural areas into a city ill equipped to deal with them [1]. This provides us ... The Sabbatean Controversy Born on August 1, 1626 The Sabbatean Controversy Born on August 1, 1626, in Smyrna in today s Turkey, Sabbatai Zevi studied in a yeshiva headed by Smyrna s rabbi, Joseph Escapa, where he excelled. He was fascinated by Jewish mysticism Kabbalah and found practical Kabbalah through which it was claimed one was able to communicate with angels, predict the future, and perform all sorts of miracles especially appealing. Possessing a reputation as a devoted Kabbalistic ascetic, at age 22 Sabbatai revealed himself to a group at Smyrna as Messiah designated by God to restore the Kingdom of Israel. But at such a young age, Sabbatai s authority did not reach far enough for him to gain many supporters, and suspecting rabbis, including his own, put him and his followers under cherem excommunication in Judaism. In Jerusalem, he faced persecution again from Jewish authorities and later returned to Smyrna, where he was welcomed affectionately, publicly proclaiming himself as Messiah in 1665. Jews throughout the world prepared to join him in a restored Kingdom of Israel the following year. Sabbatai developed this strong following due to many different factors, including ideas of the approach of the Messianic time becoming popular, the fact that Shabbatai pronounced the Tetragrammaton a symbolic act, and his claiming to have been born on Tisha B Av, the Jewish day of mourning believed to be when the Jewish Messiah will be born. Many of the items thrown away were thrown away in pairs suggesting that two people live in the dwelling that the sample was taken in. Some examples of items thrown away in pairs include, Starbucks cups, church bulletins, and Bounty paper towels. Bounty paper products, napkins and paper towels, show up on the record 24 times, suggesting that Bounty paper products are used over three times per day, corresponding with meals. Other brands that show up in the sample often include Green Giant, four times, Kroger Brand, twelve times. Within the Kroger brand items there are six plastic ziploc bags, this suggests that the people who live in this home either take their lunch to work or school, or pre package their snacks at home into serving sizes. The two church bulletins, and church offering envelopes, suggest that both members of the household went to church once the week they took their trash sample. Another interesting item thrown away was an old Tommy Hilfiger brand shirt. The members of this household make enough money to throw away old clothes, suggesting that they live comfortably. We also can tell what bank they use because they threw away a check box from Regions bank. There was a lot of first aid items in the trash sample as well multiple boxes of bandages and a box of non stick gauze pads this suggests that someone in the home had a wound that needed to be dressed. Surbiton is in London travel zone 6 (zone 1 is centre of London and zone 6 covers the edge of London), which means that train fares are quite expensive. This means that many people (40% of Surbiton) choose to drive to work and this in turn increases the amount of traffic on the roads and increases pollution along the roads connecting to the A3 (main road into London). The house prices are quite high in Surbiton, the average selling price in Surbiton in 2012 was £406,000 compared to the national average of £226,000. This makes in increasingly difficult for people on lower incomes to move to the area which could lead to economic segregation (people with high incomes living in different areas to those with a lower income). Another problem that was a recurring theme in the 1930 s was that people were becoming extremely ill as they couldn t afford medical attention because of the prices they were paying for their houses along with their food and other essentials. Management of the problems The improvement strategy for Surbiton town centre was launched in the autumn of 2009. Three Times In China Three Times: Republican, China, Socialist, China, and Post Mao China Introduction The twentieth century was not only transformational but also traumatic for China just like other societies. Notably, the prevalence of warfare in China was high throughout the century. In addition to war, dramatic peacetime economic and social changes characterized the country s twentieth century. These shifts often resulted from official policies related to redistribution of property, collectivism experiments, and land reforms. China s early cinema industry represented these changes through films such as the Goddess, the Red Detachment Woman, and Farewell my Concubine. Each of these films represented societal shifts in the country during three unique historical periods. For instance, the Goddess is a representation of the economic, social, and political changes in the country during the Republic China period. Similarly, the Red Detachment of Women epitomizes China during the socialist era. Finally, the film Farewell my Concubine depicts the Chinese society during the Post Mao age. Which guest speaker hosted in class this semester had the greatest impact on you? What did you learn from him/her and how might it affect your future? The topic that had the greatest impact on me is about food security by professor Michelson. In the lecture, we discussed the importance of food security, the trends of rising global food demand, factors that drives the expected demand increase, and also the relationship between income and food. The first question she came up with is why food security became such a major challenge worldwide? In my point of view, one of the simple reason is that everybody needs food. By answering this question, she introduced the definition of food security, and three hierarchical pillars. I learned that population growth, climate change, and water scarcity are some of the factor that cause food security became a problem. Also, as people become more affluent they start to change their tastes. For example, meat consumption in both developed and developing countries predict to increase while their income rise. Then we analyzed couple graph and table. In the over nourishment map, we found out that Europe, North America and Oceania seems waste the most food. In the map of meat demand driver, I learned that since two third of meat Chinese consume is pork, China actually consumes more total meat calories than US. Last but not least, professor Michelson introduced Engel s law and Bennett s law. Engel s law stated that as income increase, the portion of income spent on food falls, but the amount of money that expend on food might increase. Bennett s law stated that as income rises, the portion of starchy food in the diet falls. One of the interesting things I found out in her presentation is that if an average individual has an intake calories below 1690 1930 kcal per day, he or she is undernourished. I was shock by this information because I used to take around 1400 kcal per day, and I am actually undernourished if by this definition. Furthermore in the Alaskan area, the Exxon Valdez oil tanker leaked approximately 11 million gallons of oil into the Prince William Sound. This massive oil spill killed over a thousand sea otters, thousands of birds, and cost more than $2 billion dollars to recover. Threats Damages to the Cryosphere The cryosphere refers to the frozen water part of the Earth system including the frozen parts of the ocean, such as waters surrounding the Arctic. Recent studies show that the cryosphere is generally in a poor state, and scientific agreement stated that average global temperatures will continues to increase over the next century. This means that the existing risk to these climatically sensitive areas is increasing. In the past 20 years, the amount of summer sea ice in the Arctic has decreased dramatically, and could even disappear completely within the next hundred years. Evidence shows that some of these depletions in the cryosphere are human induced, specifically the fragmentation of sea ice when oil tankers break through the frozen waters to make a passageway. This fragmentation leads to global sea rise and habitat destruction for large predators such as polar bears and seals, in addition to other Arctic wildlife. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was only a few years ago, however, that I found myself intrigued by a very unusual type of mathematics, which intersected with another passion of mine, baseball. Baseball was simple enough to understand, yet captivating and stimulating. One element of baseball that fascinated me, was the focus on the individual. Much of the game is played as one on one, pitcher verses batter, and thus there are few parts of the game that depend on abstract concepts such as teamwork and communication. These immeasurable factors which play an integral part in sports such as basketball and football, are less significant on the baseball diamond. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Dog Training In Psychology The dog is a faithful and loving friend of man. They are loyal, affectionate, intelligent, and are known to be helpful for one s mental and physical health. A dog s sense of smell is said to be a thousand times more sensitive than that of humans. Their noses have the ability to hone in on a characteristic pattern of smells associated with certain types of cancers better than any current technology commonly referred to as electronic noses . By looking at the pattern of smells in samples, dogs can correctly identify them as cancerous and can be applicable for a non invasive cancer screening. Dog training Training a dog to detect the presence of chemical markers of cancers is no simple task. In one study, six dogs of varying breeds and ages completed a seven month period of training. All were familiar with obedience commands, but none had been previously trained for search or scent discrimination tasks (Willis et al. 2004). In another study, one dog was trained twice a week for 12 months (Horvath et al. 2008). The training is designed as a selection model, resembling that of sniffer dogs, and follows a reward based approach. There are two objectives in the training method: recognizing the odor signature and learning odor discrimination. Horvarth et al. (2008) trained their dog by requesting the dog to sniff ... • 27. Summary Of Helena Maria ViramontesUnder The Feet Of Jesus In the passage from Under the Feet of Jesus , Helena Maria Viramontes utilizes elements such as figurative language and selection of detail to document and analyze the development of Estrella s character throughout the text. The perplexity and distress she feels in school is evident until she matures by the end of the excerpt demonstrating her newly acquired potential and confidence. These elements demonstrate how an impoverished immigrant like Estrella learns and realizes to understand critical, essential aspects and use this to rise above her struggles and be up to par to the teacher s expectations who deemed her unworthy. Her relationship with Perfecto Flores and his toolbox helps to guide her to acknowledge the everlasting and infinite value of education and its significance. Viramontes uses figurative language to compare Estrella s confused and frustrated expression when she sees things that she doesn t understand or know what they are. She compares the tools and obscure shaped objects from a toolbox to a foreign language that one does not understand to emphasize the difficulty that Estrella faces when she comes into contact with these tools with a regular person who comes into a language that is not native to their own. As the text progresses, she meets Perfecto Flores who enlightens and educates her on the names and purposes of these tools which proves to be a pivotal point for Estrella who feels as if she just developed her own language or alphabet . • 28. Authorship, Audience And Genre Of The Gospel Of Matthew 1. Authorship, audience and genre of the Gospel of Matthew Authorship: Most scholars, but not R.T. France (2007, pp14 22), believe that Matthew s Gospel was written by a scribe, not the Apostle Matthew and that it was written approximately between AD 80 90. France states that if the book was written at this time it was within Matthew s lifetime, and thus authorship cannot be proven. A key reason pointing to the Gospel being written by a scribe is that the Gospel was written in Greek and that the author is very familiar with the Hebrew Bible, connecting his five discourses with Hebrew Scriptures. In Chapter 16, Jesus asked His disciples who people said He was, and who they, His disciples, think He was. This comes at a point of time where the disciples have been witness to the Pharisees and Sadducees wanting to test Jesus (Matt 16:1) and Jesus refusal to do so and when Jesus told them to beware of the teachings of the Pharisees and Sadducees (Matt 16:12). It is here that Simon Peter answers You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God (Matt 16:13 16). Jesus acknowledges this truth and tells Peter that the only way he could ...
