Montresor And Fortunato Essay
Where is everyone?! shouted Fortunato. And where s all the drinks?! Ahhh, there they are! Fortunato
exclaimed.
Fortunato had a rather... troubled adulthood. With his booming personality, he always made new
friends. He got with the wrong group of friends that would feed him drinks again and again, which he
became addicted to. Montresor on the other hand wasn t as social as Fortunato so he was more of a
loner and focused on his career into adult hood. He became extremely successful in his career
endeavors and he also found the love of his life, Sara, while doing so! His life was perfect, him and
Fortunato remained friends but they were not as close as they had once been because of their different
life paths. Fortunato longed to spend more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was never focused on his career anymore, his lost his way with everything.
Hey buddy, Fortunato said. You want to come to this carnival in town with me tonight? It ll be a blast,
you ll love it!
I think I ll pass for tonight, says Montresor. I m not really feeling up to the partying these days.
Suit yourself, peace out! yelled Fortunato as he ran away happily on his way to the carnival.
While at the carnival, Fortunato spotted a woman and it was love at first sight. The two hit it off right
away! He felt his life was about to change for the better. Montresor sat alone feeling isolated and
lonely in his empty house, and just thought about his life. He lost the love of his life, his career,
success, and his wealth. Sitting on the floor in his dark, gloomy, disheveled living room, he then
decided to make a change. He pounced up, ran to the kitchen and got rid of all the alcohol in his home
and he declared he would never drink another day in his life! Alcohol was the one thing that ruined
everything for him and he hated it and himself for giving it that power. Montresor began to withdraw
from his friendship with Fortunato slightly because of his use of alcohol. It had been a while since
they hung out and Fortunato wanted to introduce Montresor to the new girl he d fallen in love with.
Montresor heard a knock on his door, when he opened it he was shocked at what he had

Case Study Of Euphorbia
An unusual case of Euphorbia.tirucalli sap poisoning
ABSTRACT: Euphorbia .tirucalli sap is extremely irritating to the skin and mucosa .on accidental
exposure it causes vesication in the skin and inflammation involving eye sight in the eyes. On oral
ingestion, it acts as an irritant, causing vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions and coma. It is used as a local
irritant application for procuring criminal abortion, but rarely for homicidal and suicidal purposes.
We came across a case of oral consumption of sap of Euphorbia .tirucalli for suicidal purpose. Patient
responded to supportive treatment and recovered over a week without any sequalae. This case
highlights the fact that, even though Euphorbia .tirucalli sap poisoning is very rare, these patients ...

Euphorbia tirucalli (E.tirucalli) is also known as Indian Tree Sponge, Milk Hedge, Fire stick Plant,
Pencil tree (2).
Euphorbium is an acrid milky juice exuded from stems of various euphorbius plants belonging to
Euphorbiaceae. The toxic part is latex. Toxins differ based on species (1).The latex of E.trucalli
contains poly cyclic diterpene esters (3).
The latex on oral ingestion acts as an irritant causing vomiting, diarrhea, burning sensation in the
abdomen, convulsion and coma. Irritant toxins indirectly stimulate contraction of the gastrointestinal
smooth muscles by mechanical irritation. Skin exposure produces an irritant dermatitis and ocular
exposure causes an irritant keratoconjuctivitis. Our patient had gastro intestinal symptoms (vomiting,
diarrhoea and abdominal pain).Management includes symptomatic and supportive care (1). In Europe
veterinary practitioner used this sap as vesicant. One to four drops of the juice is used as a purge. Twig

Themes Of Violence In Dante In Love, Dante Alighieri
Introduction
According to English writer, A. N. Wilson, in Dante in Love , Dante Alighieri,
A.N. Wilson s perspective of Dante Alighieri as a poet, as well as a madman
According to (Wilson 2011), Dante Alighieri, author of the Divine Comedy, is a man whom resembled
both a poet and a madman. Wilson briefly emphasises in, Dante in Love , the two contrasting
depictions from Leonardo Bruni and Giovanni Boccaccio, of whom Dante was with regards to the role
that he played within the Florentine society and how it influenced him as a poet in his work. (Sayers
1949), asserts that the Divine Comedy is an allegorical poem, influenced by, Dante s theological,
political and personal background .
(Wilson 2011), asserts fifteenth century writer, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The circle is broken up further into three separate sections of whom these acts of violence can be
imposed on. These sins of violence is taken on three different forms being: performing harm on other
people, harm on oneself or harm on God, as explain by Vigil in the eleventh canto of the Divine
Comedy (Sayers, Dante The Divine Comedy 1: Hell 1949).
The relationship between violence and Dante as a poet
The violence portrayed in the poem
The relationship between violence and madness
In accordance with the scenes of violence found in Dante s Inferno, a link can be found in Wilson s
argument that violent scenes within the poem can justify the possibility of Dante being both a poet, as
well as a madman. Dante s Inferno, as emphasised by A. N. Wilson, is a popular and exciting read not
only from the unpredictability of order of events (Dante wrote Inferno without have a clear vision of
how the poem will end), but for the poem s, sheer brilliance and beauty of its words, its music , as well
as for its, unforgettable characterization (Wilson 2011).

The M M By Barbara Barbieri Mcgrath
My favorite elementary grade was 2nd grade so I chose a lesson and activity for this grade off of
UEN.ORG Website. The standard is that students should be able to add and subtract within 20 using
mental strategies by the end of 2nd grade. Students should also know from memory all sums of two
one digit numbers. I will start out the activity by reading The M M Counting Book written by Barbara
Barbieri McGrath. After the book has been read, I will place my students in pairs of two. I will than
provide my students each a small cup of 40 M M s instructing them not to eat the candy, because we
are using it for our Math lesson I will also provide my students each with a Math journal, sticky notes,
and a copy of the M M family reunion task:
The Family Reunion Task:
(Use your M M s to follow the five steps in this task)
1. I come from a large family of eight kids. Don t forget to add mom and dad!
2. We are having a family reunion soon. Let s figure out how many people will be there. My Aunt and
Uncle have eight kids also. How many do we have now?
3. My Grandma and Grandpa are coming; they are bringing my Aunt Betty Lou.
4. Three of my cousins decided not to come. They are going to camp instead. How many are coming
to the reunion now? (count your M M s and write your answer on the sticky note)
5. We re setting up five tables that seat four people each. Will everyone have a seat? (show your work

Essay On Tuition Fees
Denmark Yet another Nordic nation, its tuition fee policies are similar to that of Sweden. EU/EEA
citizens, permanent residents, exchange students, temporary residents who can be upgraded to
permanent residentship, children of non EU/EEA parent holding a resident permit, and citizens of
Switzerland, are exempt from ponying up on study fees. For the rest it can range between $7,000 to
$20,000. A glimpse of some of the universities, and their payment, are listed below. 1. Technical
University of Denmark (~$18,000 tuition. $9,000 per semester fee applies if Masters students enroll
for less than 30 credits or extend their period of study beyond the normal duration + one year). 2.

university. The same is true for private universities. Here are some of the public universities in
Austria. 1. University of Vienna. 2. Johannes Kepler University 3. TU Wein 4. Graz University of
Technology 5. University of Salzburg Italy As you can probably already guess, tuition in public
universities is lower than private. Public universities, however, can charge tuition in the neighborhood
of $1,000 a year, but a lot depends on the applicant s financial situation. Some of the universities have
individual means to determine the cost of a degree. Here are some public universities listed. 1.
University of Bologna (Tuition decided on an Equivalent Financial Situation Indicator ISEE.
Exemptions are given to anyone with ISEE values below $27,400). 2. University of Milan ($190 to
$5,000 based on your economic situation). 3. Sapienza University of Rome (Reduced fee for low

Understanding Cash Flows and Capital Budgeting Decisions
When evaluating cash flows for determining whether or not to pursue constructing a building to
manufacture cupcakes there are several things to consider. The most important would be looking at a
Grammy s incremental after tax cash flow. Then one needs to determine the projects initial outlay, the
differential cash flows over the project s life, and the terminal cash flow. Also what needs to be looked
at is what is the net present value and its internal rate of return.
When making the capital budgeting decision for constructing a building to manufacture ... Show more

Why or Why Not?
Yes it should be accepted. The construction of the building should be accepted. This is because the net
present value is greater than one and the NPV is a positive number. This means that the construction
project creates value and wealth. Also the internal rate of return is greater than the required rate of
return. This means the project will be a benefit to Grammy s company.
Genesis 47:18 19 (KJV), states, When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and
said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our

shall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our
land will be servants unto Pharaoh: and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be
not desolate. The people in the passage of scripture were explaining to their master what they had to

Pros And Cons Of Video Games
The world of virtual reality is loved by people who are fan of video games. However, the main victims
to get so deeply absorbed in this kind of world are children (as young as 7 years old). It is easy for
young minds to become addicted to something they are possibly not yet ready for; especially screens
and consoles. Video games are not good for kids since it isolates them from real life, could encourage
violent behaviors and ideas, and chips away at their social skills. Children could spend the whole day
sitting in one place and be perfectly happy with a device. A major con is that the majority of them
become unaware of their surroundings because the children might be too hypnotized by what is being
held in their hands. Most children are quite easy to entertain, but entertainment should not be provided
by video games. When he or she becomes addicted to video games and accustomed to a style of this
kind of entertainment, they probably would favor staying in one place on their electronics instead of
experiencing real life. Childhood is when kids are slowly learning the differences between reality and
fantasy. If a child is not mature enough, and if he or she is exposed to video games at that age, then it
might be difficult for them to differentiate fantasy from reality. Fantasy is usually fun, so a child might
rather believe that what they see in a video game will happen in real life. Kids are like sponges, so
when they take in all of what they see into their minds, it s

Herman Family Treatment Plan
Treatment Plan Eqwasha Collins Treatment Plan Description of the client Buddy is a sixteen year old,
pale European American male and the oldest child of Tammy Herman. The Herman family live in a
predominately African American community in public housing. Buddy was removed from the house 5
years ago and was placed in a residential school. Buddy is not very talkative or enthusiastic about
conversing with the family at first, until he gets to tell his own opinion about making changes to better
himself. Strengths The Herman s biggest strength is collectively expressing their own personal
feelings. By them being able to express themselves I m able to get a clear understanding of the areas
needed to be focused on. Buddy s strength is that he has a motivation of wanting to change in order to
not have to leave his home again. For example, Buddy is eager to start helping his mom around the

How Did The Democritus Make The Atomic Theory
460 BC: Democritus Philosopher
Democritus made the atomic theory widely known, which stated that the universe is composed of two
elements: the atoms and the void in which these atoms exist and move. (More, 1646)
Democritus came up with the theories:
All materials were made up of many invisible particles called ATOMS.
Atoms are not able to be destroyed.
Atoms are solid but invisible to the human eye
Atoms are homogenous.
Atoms differ in size, shape and mass (zandrice, 2010)
1. Solids are made of small, pointy atoms.
2. Liquids are made of large, round atoms.
3. Oils are made of very fine, small atoms that can easily slip past each other

Rutherford s understanding of the atom was that the protons were clustered together in the nucleus.
The nucleus is then surrounded by empty space occupied by electrons. (Lucas Wright, 2001)
1897: James Johnson Thomson
Thomson discovered the electron. He used a cathode ray tube (an electron gun) with a magnet and
discovered that the green beam it emitted was made up of negatively charged particles. Thomson then
determined that these negatively charged electrons needed something positive to balance them out.
(Born, 2014)
From his experiments Thomson established that all electrons are identical and that elements aren t
different because of their electrons but because of how many electrons are present and their formation.
(Lucas Wright, 2001)
Thomson did many experiments and found that the mass of one of these electrons was nearly 2000
times lighter than the element Hydrogen. Thomson then disproved Dalton in stating that atoms cannot
be divided into smaller pieces. (Born,

Maimonides Influence On Jewish Law
Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon, Talmudist, Halachist, physician, philosopher and communal leader, known
to the world at large as Maimonides, is considered to be one of the most important figures in the
history of scholarship (Fackenheim 171). Maimonides foundations of knowledge continues to have a
large presence in the fields of medicine, Jewish law, religion, and most notably, philosophy.
Maimonides achieved fame as a physician and wrote medical treatises on a number of diseases, and
proposed cures. His 10 medical treatises show his humanism as a physician, and emphasis on
preventative medicine. Through his medical scholarship, he emphasizes the treatment of the whole
patient, mind and body, which allows a doctor to be a more effective physician, as well as a teacher of
well being. He pioneered descriptions of diseases such as hepatitis, pneumonia, diabetes, and asthma,
as well as many others, with remarkably modern treatment methods for his time. Maimonides was a
physician of whom modern medicine would be proud if he were alive today (Rosner). ... Show more

Prior to Maimonides, one would have to learn the entire Talmud to know Jewish law which is at times
indecisive and contains conflicting opinions. Maimonides indexed not only the Talmudic rulings, but
also written commentaries and oral law, and compile it in a logical and systematic fashion. He also
included Jewish traditions such as holidays, prayer, dietary laws, and the laws that regulate the Jew s
daily life. The Mishneh Torah remains the only work of this scope, that covers the entire corpus of

Development of the company s performance management needs clarity in the areas of monitoring
work progress, including the allocation of funds both monetary rewards and funding for gaming
development, and eliminating social hierarchy s.
Strategic planning and growth are areas of the company that need to be addressed to insure that the
direction of the business is clear for both employees as well as consumers. Issues arisen from within
the company are lack in training of new employees, constant updated training workshops for
established employees and to better the training received into hiring new employees. 2. DISCUSSION
2.1 Organisational Structure
Organisational structure is a developing concept within the constantly changing business environment
with new technology shaping how tasks can be done more effectively and efficiently. A
technologically advanced company such as Valve embraces the changing environment and has adapted
the no manager s concept within the creative industry. Zarzaru (2013) states, within an organisation,
the dimension which concerns the choice of how work is organized and who is allocated the work is
formed by sharing knowledge, referred to as the human dimension, with elements of the
organisational structure fully reliant on knowledge management projects and the physical human
thought process, this concept is not fully reached within Valve, but is easily achievable.

God, God And The Creator Of The Earth And Living Things
The definition of the word religion is known as the belief or worship of a superior power, which can
be known as God. God plays a major role within many different religions. However, religions with
similar beliefs can differ in numerous ways as well. For instance, both the Jewish and Christian
scriptures share a few beliefs in common. Both scriptures identify the belief of one God, who is
almighty and the creator of the earth and living things. Both scriptures express the understanding that
the Earth is God s domain in which God demands that all humans act according to God s
commandments and they will be redeemed in the eyes of the Lord. They also follow the belief that

The Law, also known as the Torah contains the Five Books of Moses. These stories are about God s
creation of the world, and the relationship between God and Israel or God and man. One of the central
points in the Bible s account of the relationship between Israel and God is known as the covenant. The
word covenant can be translated to mean treaty or alliance. For example, in the book of Genesis, God
had promised Noah he would not send another flood to destroy the world. God throughout all of these
stories has a personal name, represented in Hebrew by four consonants: YHWH. Since there are no
vowels, no one is certain on how to pronounce it. Many Jews consider the name too sacred to
pronounce. In the Ten Commandments it even states that God s name should never be taken in vain.
Most modern Jews today when reading the Tanakh substitute the word Adonai for YHWH. Compared
to the Christian scriptures, Judaism does not believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. Judaism follows
the beliefs that God is a higher being. Judaism uses its sacred books to understand the teachings of
God and what he requires of all of his people. For Christianity, the sacred books of Judaism are taken
as a precaution for the divination of God through Christ that is portrayed in the New Testament. The
Christian Bible consists of both the Old and New Testaments. A term known as Gnosticism influenced
many Christianity beliefs. This affected the way that the

According to (Olve, Roy and Wetter , 1999), it is important to understand motivation and cultural
influences to define reward system. It is essentials for a meaningful and measurable reward system to
motivate employees and to provide opportunities for professional development. Meaningful reward
system is a prospect for management to highlight the accomplishment during the specific time period.
It is essential to understand the perception triggered by culture, generation gap, and exposure
individual might have to comprehend the reason behind reward system. (Olve et al., 1999) argue that
reward system ought to be measured based on good intention and work shown by an employee during
specific time period at the current position. The organizational culture and diverse work force impose
some challenges for mangers to select the right form of reward system. The objectives and goals
should be measurable and on clearly defined expectations by supervisor and human resources. The
ratings for each objective in performance appraisal should narrate conclusive and measureable results.
Baron (2000) argues that within performance based reward system the anticipated developmental
goals should be based on the expected needs of employee and organization. This portion of the

The Four Gospels Pertaining To The New Testament
The gospel of Luke is one of the four gospels pertaining to the New Testament. The Gospel of Luke is
the most extensive historical account of the life of Jesus. It was originally written for a certain
Theophilus, probably a Gentile of high social standing, and intended to inform him extensively of the
life and work of Christ. Throughout this gospel the person of Jesus is presented as the perfect Man
who always lived according to the will of God. And the account that Luke offers us of his life appears
divided in two basic parts: the coming to the world of the Son of God and the return to his glory. It
narrates from before the birth of John the Baptist, until the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Toyota Motor Corporation ( Japan ) Essay
Toyota Motor Corporation (Japanese Toyota Jidƍsha KK) became the largest automobile manufacturer
in the world for the first time in 2008. The company has acquired over 600 subsidiary companies; they
specialize in the production of automobiles, auto parts, commercial and industrial vehicles. In 1936
they produced the first Toyota a Model AA Sedan, the company rapidly began to grow but, was faced
with an economic crisis after World War II which forced them to stop the production of automobiles.
Toyota managed to reopen production factories by the 1950s, they began to research and study on how
to improve the production of cars, in fact; they used a lot of fundamental ideas from the Ford Motor
Company to develop their production factories and of course, made the designs more efficient. In
1957 Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., was established, and they released the Toyopet sedan the
following year which was a flop due to cost and performance. 1958 a utility vehicle Land Cruiser
ended up doing much better in sales than the Toyopet. After going back to the drawing board, the
Toyota Corona released with became a big hit in the US. Toyota rapidly began to expand the company
merged with General Motors Corporation in 1986 which started US production of Toyota brand
cars.Toyota has procured plants and distributors worldwide, the expansion in other industries includes
manufacturing of rubber and cork materials, steel, synthetic resins, automatic looms, cotton and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Homeschooling
Introduction
Education plays significant role in the life of everyone. It is obvious that good education will influence
the future and strong foundation is the first step in building it. Iimmediately after birth, child begins to
receive knowledge, an education from his family, from his home, because home considers as the
foundation of all human institutions. After that it comes to make a choice whether to send him to study
to the ordinary school or not to send. Some parents try to homeschool their child due to the different
reasons, however others against of homeschooling because of its disadvantages. Therefore we will
discuss about the advantages and disadvantages of homeschooling and its impact on child education
and development.

Well Rested children. Researchers are show that sleep is crucial to the physical and emotional well
being of children especially during studying. The early morning classes might be devastating to many
kids, particularly those individuals who are not morning people.
8. No Busywork. For homeschooled children no need to wait others or repeat until other classmates
will understand the material, they can save their time and complete in a few hours what usually takes
usual classroom a week or sometimes more to cover.
Even homeschooling has that kind of positive effects; it also has disadvantages makes some parents
worry about them. For example:
1. Homeschooling considers as a hard work for the parents, planning the course of instruction, making
own schedule is not easy. It takes time that parent may be sometimes needs to use for another
important things. Also the teaching process itself needs time and accuracy, organizing all these
processes will be impossible especially for those families who have many children.
2. Homeschooling might be one of the reasons for financial stress. When all responsibility for buying
books and other things needed for study process lies on parents

In this model, electrons move in fixed orbits at fixed distances from the nucleus. Each of these orbits
represents a certain quantity of energy. The outer orbits have more energy than the inner orbits. Atoms
do not emit radiation, such as light, when the electrons are in the fixed orbit, but an electron can move
to a different orbit. If an electron moves down to an orbit with less energy, energy is released in the
form of radiation a light quantum. If the electron moves from an orbit closer to the nucleus to one
farther from the nucleus, energy is absorbed. The frequencies and wavelengths of the light quanta are
unique for each atom. In addition to creating a model, Bohr s formula and associated calculations
correlated the spectral lines observed for the hydrogen atom with electron energy levels for electrons
in the Bohr hydrogen atom model. This indicated that the emission spectrum resulted from emission

He saw how advanced Germany was so he wanted the US not to enter WW2 but then people in the US
tried to accuse him of being Communist. After the US was bombed he then returned to the US and

him to be able to fly planes and fight as a civilian with out people knowing. After the war he mainly
just taught people how to fly and tried to advance aviation. As an older man he went away from flying
and he became and environmentalist and a wildlife preservationist. He died while with his wife at his

different things. Many people can look at someone and say that man is a villain or the man is a hero

Recent Changes in the Print Industry
The print industry in our society has always served as a pillar in providing mass media to society. Print
industry can trace its root back to the ancient Egyptians, China, and Europe in the first 10 centuries.
Not until the mid 1400 s did the print industry reach a pivotal transformation, which was the printing
press by Johannes Gutenberg. This allowed for faster mass production of printed materials such as the
Bible for instance. Century after century this industry evolved into a worldwide business for providing
information to the masses. In our society today, the Internet is our main source for business,
communication, getting information, etc. The Internet has evolved since first being introduced into
something everyone in a sense needs, since it can help with our lives. The print industry is currently
co existing with the Internet and digital technology industries, and the print industry has struggled and
has been forced to adapt. Our society is moving faster and getting information faster due to the
Internet and digital technology. The print industry cannot keep up with the digital age in regards to
providing information. It s that digital has surpassed print. It has many advantages and with
technology constantly growing there will be more. Characteristics of digital include: ubiquity, speed,
permanence, search ability, the ability to update, the ability to remix, targeting, interaction, marketing
via links, and data feedback. Digital transcends the limitations of print

Educators Struggle with Philosophy
As an educator we all struggle with philosophy and where to go from there once we decide what our
set of beliefs are. Once we put our philosophy in place, we then struggle with changing our
philosophy. I believe that philosophies can be always changing any given situation and in order for
growth as an educator we have to be aware to the situations that can change our philosophy, as well as
being true to our core beliefs. However, in order for this to happen we must understand what
philosophy is, and what it is not and how it fall in line with ideology and theories. For this assignment,
I will compare and contrast philosophy, ideology, and theory.
Philosophy is the most beliefs about what is true or real according to individual values (Gutek, 2009).
Philosophy is our beliefs that will determine what we do professionally and personally. Not having a
philosophy set in place, it will be difficult to make decisions within the classroom, creating
curriculums and evaluate progress. Although a person can set goals without having a philosophy
implemented, not having the foundation of a set philosophy (core set of beliefs) achieving the goals
can be a very difficult challenge.
Educators need a starting point to understand why we think and act the way we do in our classrooms.
Having a philosophy allows an educator to reflect on how to make classroom actions consistent with
our beliefs related to learning. However, before we list our beliefs we need to delve deeper into what
makes

The Breakdown Of Continuum Care
First, it s called continuum care system, it deals with tracking and keeping in contact with a patient
over time and to follow them thru their health care services. The breakdown of continuum care is
extended care, acute hospital care, ambulatory care, home care, outreach, wellness and housing. It
could follow a patient from birth to the end of life. The services could be acute healthcare, hospital,
emergency, inpatient services, outpatient services, urgent care, skilled nursing home, rehab, home care

The components are what services the patient needs from birth to end of life. These components are
prenatal care, behavioral illness, newborn care, preventive care, healthy lifestyle, acute illness acute

All this depends on the patient, do they want treatment, do they want to stay healthy and do they have
the resources to get treatment and do they want to stay healthy. These patients will have to be followed
from birth to the end, so do they want that. That is the challenge keeping these patients healthy but
keeping contact with them to maintain that wellness. Another challenge is helping

Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory Essay
There are many methods for studying human social development. In Erik Erikson s psychosocial
theory, social interactions are an important and determining factor of lifespan development. Although
Erikson was influenced by many of Sigmund Freud s studies, his studies were based upon
psychosocial development versus psychosexual development. Erikson, like Freud, emphasized the
importance of childhood on personality development, but unlike Freud, he believed that development
occurred across the entire lifespan. Erikson thought personality developed through a series of eight
stages each signified by a crisis . According to Erikson, if the individual successfully overcomes the
situation it helps to develop a lifelong skillset, but if the crisis is not successfully resolved it may
hinder development. The sense of competence or the sense of inadequacy at each stage ultimately
develops an individual s identity or all of the beliefs, ideals, and values that shape and guide a person s
behavior (Cherry). By examining my own social development through life and gathering information
from my parents, specifically about my childhood, I made many comparisons to and connections to
my own identity. As Erikson s stages are confined by age, I considered the first five stages of the
psychosocial theory of development and related them to my life. Trust versus mistrust is Erikson s first
stage and occurs during infancy, which is from birth to about two years of age. Because of an infant s

Toni Cade Bambara s Black Female Champions
It is well known from historical accounts, novels, poems, movies, and other sources that blacks have
been abused, neglected, and mistreated in American society. In addition, a great deal has been written
about the lives, hardships, and obstacles of black men.
Black women, however, have long been relegated to subordinate societal roles in relation to white
men and women and black men. Black women have been viewed as monsters and suffered distortions
of their image. Toni Cade Bambara, in her writings, has helped to change the image of black women.

The Integration Of Green Logistic
Integration of Green Logistic Introduction Success of an environmentally friendly supply chain will
require an integration of efforts, such as reduction in transportation requirements, implementation of
reverse logistics practices that are in harmony with environmental considerations, and an intuitive
infrastructure which reduces adverse measures directly impacting the environment. The United States,
being one of the top countries in leading eco friendly supply chain, has a friendly supply chain
aspiration for a company to be successful. Many other countries try to be correct in flourishing
possible developments in producing consumer goods that will attract them to a large fairly straight

Matilda in the embrace of her lover, who escapes, leaving behind his suit. Although Philemon doesn t

her. We can clearly see the transformation in the character of Philemon from this point onward. The
fact that he resorted to such absurd means of punishing her is evident of the extent of power that he
had over her. Matilda is forced to set a plate of food for the suit and carry it around as they strolled
through town. To escape her current misery, Matilda joins a cultural club. After Philemon agrees to

reaches absurd lengths due to his cruelty towards his adulteress wife, ending in the abrupt death of
Matilda. The suit is used as a metaphor as a mean of keeping control in his life. Philemon feels the

Anne Bradstreet s Poem, My Dear And Loving Husband
Throughout history women have always taken second chair next to men. Women were thought to be
the weaker, less intellectual, and less valuable sex. Many women accepted their position in life, and
never bothered to strive for more, however, Anne Bradstreet did. She knew she could be much more
than the simple house wife she was meant be; she valued herself to be more, and took to poetry as a
means of communicating her views on life; not knowing one day she would be the famous female
American poet she is today. Even with eight children, Anne Bradstreet found time to express her
interests and views by writing in her poetry journal. Out of all her many poems, To My Dear and
Loving Husband stuck out as, one with a simple message, with hidden meanings throughout.
Though Bradstreet is known as one who made large bounds for her fellow women, the fact that she
relies on her husband for a sense of self is present in the second line of the poem. Bradstreet using the
word man, not the corresponding term husband ; this grants him a level of independence from the
relationship that she does not give herself (Kelly). The fact that there seems to be unevenness in the
marriage is indicative of the puritan culture. Puritan women are vulnerable and servers to their
husbands, not partners as they are thought of today. Even with her role as wife Bradstreet is able to
challenge many of the stereotypes that women faced during the late 1600 s. If it was not for the use of
poetry,

William Shakespeare s Everyman, The Summoning Of Everyman
Introduction and Thesis Statement
The full title of Everyman is the summoning of Everyman . It is a morality play known by many
people because every character involved in the play is imperative for the plot as well as the morality
interpretation. However, Death takes most of critical role (Goldhamer, 1973). Everyman is the main
character but without Death, the play would lack its illuminative and illustrative nature. Nonetheless,
the author depicts Death as the messenger of God, cruel judge as well as rescuer of humankind.
According to the author, human kind is supposed to be answerable for the mistakes committed by
Adam. Indeed, the bad deed raises the sins of Everyman
Perception and treatment of Death
The author of the play, notwithstanding his anonymity, perceives death as God s servant and
messenger. Indeed, via different descriptions, the author leaves various spaces to direct the reader
about further thought in regards to the actual thought of the Death as depicted in the play. Therefore,
throughout the play, Death s character is undeniable. Death is what all and sundry in this world should
be anticipating. Through the Death s image, the author depicts a description of allegory and physical
of moral death. According to Cawley (1960), such visualization is indeed persuasive evidence of the
fact that is invisible in the normal and ordinary life people live in. Crisp (2001), adds that the
visualization traps individual in eternal fear. Furthermore, it leads to great

naturally, but which has transformed itself into a ritual tribe. In this article, the tribe, Nacirema, is a
tribe that has transformed itself naturally and which has incorporated a lot of beliefs and religious
tendency for good living. More evident in the arguments given by Horace Miner is the fact that the
societal people of Nacirema care and have a strong attitude about their bodies. They thus do
everything possible in the earth to preserve its good look. The body ... Show more content on

Horace Miner writes that the Nacirema people can be described as magic ridden people. They have
very many burdens they have imposed unto themselves; for example, the excretory rituals. These are
rituals that puts one ethnic group very distinct as compared to others, and by and large, it makes them
consolidate their beliefs and activities. In the eyes of modern culture, the Nacirema culture presents a
?crazy scenario. ? However, the Nacirema people as explained in the article are not ready to abandon
or put down the ?perceived burdens. ? They are ready to continue with them. In themselves, they value
what they do as superior and something which cannot be interfered with by other cultures.
Most evident in this article and the explanations given by the author is social solidarity. The Nacirema
people as explained in the article are unique people, who practice and carry out their activities with
total disregard of what other cultures view them. For example, the excretory rituals are bound to be
viewed by others as crazy, but to them, these are cultures, which make them strong. They are magic
ridden people. The irrelevance of the magic in this community puts them apart from ?civilization ? but
to them, they have to remain in solidarity. This social solidarity is important only to the Nacirema
people, and this is because it is bound to be viewed by others as representing backwardness.

Summary Of Nehemiah In The Oxford Bible
In relation to the historical background of Nehemiah, in Thru the Bible with J. Vernon McGee. By J.
Vernon McGee, it states that Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the
king. The socio, on the other hand from The Oxford Bible Commentary, with editors John Barton and
John Muddiman, the exiles were under military power.
The literary structure of Nehemiah is a chiastic structure, as it has according to Mark A. Thorntveit s
Ezra Nehemiah Interpretation a Bible Commentary for Teaching and Preaching book, shows the story
following an ABXBA structure with the climax of opposition meaning the people who live around the
ruined Jerusalem did not like that the exiles came back and were building the wall again. The big idea
of this story according to Thorntveit is the narrative is carefully structured in five sections whose main
theme is to record four reports of the destruction of Jerusalem as a reproach against God and the
various responses made to those reports. As the quote says the focus of the story of Nehemiah is the
destruction of Jerusalem (Thorntveit, 62). The need to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem was more of a
symbolic building, according to Editor Marco Conti in Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture
Old Testament V, 1 2 Kings, 1 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, the wall was rebuilt because the
devil has free entry into the church, as through the walls of a ruined city. In the Oxford Commentary,
the wall was a sign of social and political symbolism. The rebuilding of the wall was significant
because the Jews felt like they had to rebuild Jerusalem and to do that they would also need to rebuild
the wall that was destroyed when Jerusalem was invaded, and the Jewish people were taken into their
exile, for safety. According to David Brisben, author of the book Introduction to Old Testament, the
Jews rebuilt the wall for safety. Everyone wants to feel safe in the city they live in, today we have
police officers and laws. Back then all they had was an army (the strength of the army depended on
the strength of the leader of the kingdom), and walls, so walls were very important to the people of the
Biblical times. In relation to the challenges that attempted

Analysis Of Jack London s The Yukon Wilderness
Jack London was an American novelist who wrote To Build a Fire. It takes place somewhere along the
paths of the Yukon wilderness. The story revolves around the protagonist who is a guy just referred to
as the man. The man sets off on a journey on a frigid day with the idea that he will meet his friends by
suppertime. However, his lack of wherewithal for cold and his overwhelming optimism about his
situation leads him to a point of no return. As the man s journey evolves, so does the parable like
morals . Some being respect your elders and another being a man must be careful when trying to go
against nature. I will argue that the moral of the story is to always trust your gut. I will prove this by
honing in on specific points of the story where this theme occurs. First, as the man s journey gets
underway and he begins to make his way to the camp where he encounters an unlikely partner, where
he should have reconsidered his judgment. At the man s heels trotted a dog, a big native husky, the
proper wolf dog...Its instinct told it a truer tale than was told to by the man s judgment...The dog did
not know anything about thermometers. Possibly in its brain there was no sharp consciousness of a
condition of a very cold such as in the man s brain. But the brute had its instinct (P.125). The quote is
saying that though the dog is native, has keen animal instincts, and is familiar with the cold
temperatures. The inner voice of the dog was telling it that the extreme

The Harm Principle In John Stuart Mill s On Liberty
The dominant idea of John Stuart Mill s On Liberty is the harm principle, the assertion that society can
only intervene with the action of an individual when said action harms or heightens the probability of
harm to another individual without their consent. However Mill offers in addition a noteworthy caveat
to the harm principle. He asserts that society can also intervene when the choice of the individual is to

This exception to the harm principle emphasizes its purpose, the preservation of liberty which he
deems to be a necessary condition for the cultivation of progress in society. The responsibility of
accomplishing this progress he lays upon the backs of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let us imagine a kingdom which shares both its northern and its southern borders with hostile states.
The son of the king informs him that the state to the north is readying their army for an invasion to

army in order to allow the southern neighbor to invade the kingdom and slaughter its people in

If faced with a sufficient probability of death from informing the king and from the invading army

Stamps By Maya Angelou Essay
Maya starts explaining how after their parents decided to sent them away after putting and end to their
calamitous marriage (Angelou 5) they arrived to Stamps after travelling alone from California; Maya
realized later that this event was done also by other frightened Black children to their newly affluent
parents in Northern cities or back to grandmothers in Southern towns (6). In Stamps, they met
Momma and Uncle Willie, and they lived in the Store. The process of adaptation took Maya and
Bailey a little bit of time, but finally Stamps, and particularly the Store, was her favorite place to be .
However, the South then becomes a forceful determinant in the locus of Angelou s text. Southern life,
as Angelou demonstrates, is one of harshness and brutality. It is exemplified by the conditions under
which the workers of Stamps lived, the fear engendered by the Ku Klux Klan (whites), the wanton
murder of Black folks, the racial separation of the town, and the innumerable incidents of denigration
which made life in the South an abomination against God and Man. (Afzal 4) In Stamps the
segregation was so complete that most Black children didn t really, absolutely know what whites
looked like. Other than they were different, to be dreaded, and in that dread was included the hostility
of the powerless against the powerful, the poor against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Young Maya lives under the threats of terrifying lynch mobs and the daily realities of discrimination
and humiliation. Each racist incident contributes to Maya s self awareness and shapes her views about
injustice. This is a place where her brother witnesses white men fishing the rotting corpse of a lynched
black man out of the river and then making jokes, where her grandmother is humiliated by a group of
poor white girls, and where her crippled uncle spends the night in a corn crib to avoid a lynch mob.

Running head: COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS POETRY PAPER Comparative Analysis Poetry Paper
My view of the poem Balthazar s Marvelous Afternoon written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is
absolutely entertaining. Balthazar is a carpenter who takes pride in building a bird cage for a young
boy. The time and effort put into making this bird cage has great morality results for Balthazar. Being
the most beautiful bird cage people in the village has ever seen, Balthazar s pride and extravagant
praise boosts up and he is full of confidence. Ready for delivery and payment Balthazar takes it over
to the boys house and finds out the parents do not approve or such request made by their young son.
Deeply devastated by the refusal of the boys parents Balthazar ... Show more content on

Finally he thinks about the beautiful cage he made and how bad the young boy wanted it so he decides
to give it to him without any payment, leaves and gets drunk with some people from the village. This
Marvelous Afternoon might not have turned out as expected but in reality the marvelous thing about it
in my opinion is him being selfless and thinking about the young boy. From the beginning to the end
of this short story he is well aware that the bird cage cannot belong to anyone but the person who
requested it. The loyalty and dedication to clients in his business offers uniquely created products built
from his heart. In the Poem 5000 Apply for 100 jobs by Jim Daniels, many can relate to this situation.
People all over the Country are unemployed now in days and are willing to get any job they can to
feed their families. This poem is somewhat of similarities with the first poem in a way that the person
telling his experience is grateful for what he has. He is in line trying to find a better opportunity but is
told to leave because all jobs have been filled. Once given the bad news some are upset as to be
violent and swear. Although he is saddened by the news of not being one of the hundred chosen to
work there, he quickly realizes that it is not as bad as he though. He still has a job even if it does not
pay him well but he is able to

Insulin Resistance In Severe Acne Vulgaris
Insulin Resistance in Severe Acne Vulgaris

University of Colorado at Colorado Springs
This report explains the research article entitled, Insulin Resistance in Severe Acne Vulgaris, which
may be accessed for free, full text, at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4565837/. A
study was given to a group of individuals who met the requirements needed to attain the best results in
order to see if there was any correlation between acne vulgaris and insulin resistance. There has been
much research in recent years suggesting that, while including all of the other factors involved in
causing acne, diet is one that has been a big subject due to inconsistent results. In this paper, the study

One can see how certain food may cause a more noticeable breakout of acne due how much they alter
a person s blood sugar levels and insulin levels. At the same time, one finding cannot simply be
applied to all individuals as every person is different. I believe that this article could be especially
important to those who suffer with acne vulgaris as it would help give them a better understanding of
the effects some foods may have on the. Acne does not only have an effect physically on individuals,
but it also affects them emotionally. There are many treatment options for people with acne ranging
from very basic over the counter topical treatments to more invasive and intense treatments such as
Isotretinoin. Along with medications that can be prescribed, the first thing that any one person can do
to help possibly reduce their acne is change their diet, or avoid foods that would increase their
likelihood of an increased breakout. There is much research going into whether diet truly does have an
effect, but more and more information is being collected to support this hypothesis. I do not believe
that food causes acne vulgaris; however, I strongly believe that it can worsen the effects of already
existent acne by such ways as increasing oil production of sebaceous glands in our

Eulogy For Olympias
Olympias seated from the clouds in her usual spot, watched the little specs of people in all different
extravagant colors, run through their everyday schedules. She adored the people of Athens, who would
go about their everyday actions, buying things from the market, children playing, adults talking,
Olympias loved it all. The people of Athens brought joy to Olympias s heart. People at the time never
seemed to rush or worry about whether they would be late for work or how much time they had left to
play. Each one was always joyful and happy, no one knew about time. Soon they would, and Olympias
knew this. There was no such thing as the sun or moon, it was never light nor was it dark. This would
seem to be odd to people now, but in Ancient Greece, no one knew better. They had never heard of
anything called time, or the sun and moon. Everything was always the same, no light nor dark, no
time, and no worry. Athens was beyond compare to any other place, but there was soon to be and
unexpected visitor. His name was Aristarchus. Maybe he was good or maybe he was ... Show more

After she grabbed the clock, Aristarchus threw the potion straight at her. She had no idea what the
potion was for or what it did, but she automatically knew it was bad. Before Olympias even had a
chance to react Eurydice jumped in front of Olympias, the potion shattering all over her. Eurydice fell
to the ground, crippling into a ball. Olympias, enraged with anger, shot an iron cage on top of
Aristarchus, imprisoning him. Olympias wept as Eurydice at the loss of her bright, beautiful friend. An
idea suddenly started to form in Olympias s head as she looked from the bright nymph to the dark god.
She would place Eurydice in the sky beside her to warm the people and give them light, and she
would place Aristarchus in his prison in the sky to provide sleep and darkness to the people. They
would be called the sun and the moon, and man would finally learn about

Future Of Public Broadcasting In Australia
The future of public broadcasting in Australia has continued to be very unknown. Since the 1990 s

Essay On Mexican Identity
The stewardess announced that it was twenty minutes until landing. My heart thumped in anticipation
as we flew over Mexico City s skyscrapers and grand, old Chapultepec Park. Before long, I was in my
aunt s car as it weaved through suffocating traffic; I knew that soon I d be hugging my grandparents
and sharing a family feast. This is my parents homeland, where both grew up as part of the microcosm
that is the Mexican Jewish community, which makes up a tiny fraction of the country s population. Its
hybrid culture and traditions run deep in me, coexisting with my American identity. It s a unique
identity that may seem curious to some, with its Veracruz style gefilte fish, kosher tacos, and matzo

Their parents escaped in the 1920s from Eastern Europe s poverty and anti Semitism in search for a
better life; my parents immigrated in pursuit of higher education. My home is the wonderful mixture
of these identities, with my brother and I growing up bilingual and multicultural.
Though I ve been to Mexico countless times, this trip was different. I was there to volunteer at
Kadima, a center founded by the Jewish community to support people of all ages with physical and
mental disabilities. I didn t know what to expect. Would I have the patience to spend eight hours a day
with the patients? Would I be able to communicate with them appropriately? Would I make a
difference in their lives?
Every day at Kadima, I learned about each patient s disability. I oversaw their routines, relaxed their
stiff bodies, and calmed their frustrations all while knowing that their conditions will likely not
improve over time. Until I worked at Kadima, I had never thought twice about how long it takes to
brush my teeth, or the complexity of putting one foot in front of the other simple tasks that challenged
the patients. These disabilities limit the patients outlook in life and make them dependant on the
support and understanding of their loved ones. I could never conceive relying on others for help in

Analysis Of Margaret Atwood s It s Not Climate Change...
In the article It s Not Climate Change It s Everything Change, the author Margaret Atwood, starts of
by talking about three different pictures. The first one being The future without oil, the second, The
future without oil arrives very quickly, and the third, Some countries plan for the future of diminished
oil, some don t have any, or don t need any. The first picture says to imagine driving around in our in
vehicles fueled by hydrogen. Our goods will be coming to us by solar and sail driven ship, and trains
and bicycles will become popular again. People start eating locally and start growing vegetables in
their yards. Water is having to be saved and low draw lightbulbs are being used because incandescent
have been banned. Also the slogan Heat yourself, not the room is no longer a slogan, it s the way we
all live now. The air conditioning systems no longer exist so during summer, there will not be huge
amounts of power being used. Still imagining, the author discusses what will be wearing and what we
will eat. Cotton will be consider too expensive, so recycled tinfoil and plastic will be used for
clothing. The idea of obesity will no longer be a problem, and diet plans will be mandatory. This
picture one is liked by the author because it s comforting and says it might come true. The second
picture the author discuses is suppose the future without oil arrives very quickly. Very sudden, there
would be no cars, no planes, a few trains, and some bicycles. Water

The evaluation of Wal mart in China in terms of PEST and SWOT models
Political factor
It s a trend that the Chinese government increasingly open market to foreign investors by reducing the
barriers of entry. Recently, the State Council of China has altered the foreign investment policies,
encouraged and supported the foreign investment on the service sector, especially the labour intensive
but environmental friendly business in low developed central or western China (Chen Liang, 2010).
The government has also permitted the foreign investors to set up partnership business with local
firms (Cao Tai, 2009) rather than formerly approved options of joint venture and wholly owned. On
the other hand, the current government and communist party are working to ease the social inequality.
The minimum wage and annual income protection have been approved and increased in China at
present (Wang et.al., 2009). Also, they have promoted the establishment of government led labour
union in major foreign business and expect to require all of them to set up in later (Kahn, 2006), which
aim to create official approved labour protection chapter and collective bargaining in foreign firms.
Economic factor
At present, the Chinese economy has partly recovered from previous strike of global economic crisis.
With sizable fiscal stimulus in public sector and release of massive lending in recent years,

He pounced up, ran to the kitchen and got rid of all the alcohol in his home and he declared he would never drink another day in his life! Alcohol was the one thing that ruined everything for him and he hated it and himself for giving it that power. The most important would be looking at a Grammy s incremental after tax cash flow. Then one needs to determine the projects initial outlay, the differential cash flows over the project s life, and the terminal cash flow. • 8. Pros And Cons Of Video Games The world of virtual reality is loved by people who are fan of video games. However, the main victims to get so deeply absorbed in this kind of world are children (as young as 7 years old). It is easy for young minds to become addicted to something they are possibly not yet ready for; especially screens and consoles. Video games are not good for kids since it isolates them from real life, could encourage violent behaviors and ideas, and chips away at their social skills. Children could spend the whole day sitting in one place and be perfectly happy with a device. A major con is that the majority of them become unaware of their surroundings because the children might be too hypnotized by what is being held in their hands. Most children are quite easy to entertain, but entertainment should not be provided by video games. When he or she becomes addicted to video games and accustomed to a style of this kind of entertainment, they probably would favor staying in one place on their electronics instead of experiencing real life. Childhood is when kids are slowly learning the differences between reality and fantasy. If a child is not mature enough, and if he or she is exposed to video games at that age, then it might be difficult for them to differentiate fantasy from reality. Fantasy is usually fun, so a child might rather believe that what they see in a video game will happen in real life. How Did The Democritus Make The Atomic Theory 460 BC: Democritus Philosopher Democritus made the atomic theory widely known, which stated that the universe is composed of two elements: the atoms and the void in which these atoms exist and move. Maimonides Influence On Jewish Law Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon, Talmudist, Halachist, physician, philosopher and communal leader, known to the world at large as Maimonides, is considered to be one of the most important figures in the history of scholarship (Fackenheim 171). For instance, both the Jewish and Christian scriptures share a few beliefs in common. Both scriptures identify the belief of one God, who is almighty and the creator of the earth and living things. The Law, also known as the Torah contains the Five Books of Moses. These stories are about God s creation of the world, and the relationship between God and Israel or God and man. One of the central points in the Bible s account of the relationship between Israel and God is known as the covenant. The word covenant can be translated to mean treaty or alliance. For example, in the book of Genesis, God had promised Noah he would not send another flood to destroy the world. God throughout all of these stories has a personal name, represented in Hebrew by four consonants: YHWH. Since there are no vowels, no one is certain on how to pronounce it. Many Jews consider the name too sacred to pronounce. In the Ten Commandments it even states that God s name should never be taken in vain. Most modern Jews today when reading the Tanakh substitute the word Adonai for YHWH. Compared to the Christian scriptures, Judaism does not believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. Judaism follows the beliefs that God is a higher being. Judaism uses its sacred books to understand the teachings of God and what he requires of all of his people. For Christianity, the sacred books of Judaism are taken as a precaution for the divination of God through Christ that is portrayed in the New Testament. If an electron moves down to an orbit with less energy, energy is released in the form of radiation a light quantum. Once we put our philosophy in place, we then struggle with changing our philosophy. I believe that philosophies can be always changing any given situation and in order for growth as an educator we have to be aware to the situations that can change our philosophy, as well as being true to our core beliefs. However, in order for this to happen we must understand what philosophy is, and what it is not and how it fall in line with ideology and theories. For this assignment, I will compare and contrast philosophy, ideology, and theory. Philosophy is the most beliefs about what is true or real according to individual values (Gutek, 2009). Philosophy is our beliefs that will determine what we do professionally and personally. Not having a philosophy set in place, it will be difficult to make decisions within the classroom, creating curriculums and evaluate progress. Although a person can set goals without having a philosophy implemented, not having the foundation of a set philosophy (core set of beliefs) achieving the goals can be a very difficult challenge. • 25. Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory Essay There are many methods for studying human social development. In Erik Erikson s psychosocial theory, social interactions are an important and determining factor of lifespan development. Although Erikson was influenced by many of Sigmund Freud s studies, his studies were based upon psychosocial development versus psychosexual development. Erikson, like Freud, emphasized the importance of childhood on personality development, but unlike Freud, he believed that development occurred across the entire lifespan. Erikson thought personality developed through a series of eight stages each signified by a crisis . According to Erikson, if the individual successfully overcomes the situation it helps to develop a lifelong skillset, but if the crisis is not successfully resolved it may hinder development. The sense of competence or the sense of inadequacy at each stage ultimately develops an individual s identity or all of the beliefs, ideals, and values that shape and guide a person s behavior (Cherry). By examining my own social development through life and gathering information from my parents, specifically about my childhood, I made many comparisons to and connections to my own identity. As Erikson s stages are confined by age, I considered the first five stages of the psychosocial theory of development and related them to my life. Trust versus mistrust is Erikson s first stage and occurs during infancy, which is from birth to about two years of age. Because of an infant s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Women were thought to be the weaker, less intellectual, and less valuable sex. Many women accepted their position in life, and never bothered to strive for more, however, Anne Bradstreet did. She knew she could be much more than the simple house wife she was meant be; she valued herself to be more, and took to poetry as a means of communicating her views on life; not knowing one day she would be the famous female American poet she is today. Even with eight children, Anne Bradstreet found time to express her interests and views by writing in her poetry journal. Out of all her many poems, To My Dear and Loving Husband stuck out as, one with a simple message, with hidden meanings throughout. Though Bradstreet is known as one who made large bounds for her fellow women, the fact that she relies on her husband for a sense of self is present in the second line of the poem. Bradstreet using the word man, not the corresponding term husband ; this grants him a level of independence from the relationship that she does not give herself (Kelly). The fact that there seems to be unevenness in the marriage is indicative of the puritan culture. Puritan women are vulnerable and servers to their husbands, not partners as they are thought of today. Thorntveit s Ezra Nehemiah Interpretation a Bible Commentary for Teaching and Preaching book, shows the story following an ABXBA structure with the climax of opposition meaning the people who live around the ruined Jerusalem did not like that the exiles came back and were building the wall again. The big idea of this story according to Thorntveit is the narrative is carefully structured in five sections whose main theme is to record four reports of the destruction of Jerusalem as a reproach against God and the various responses made to those reports. As the quote says the focus of the story of Nehemiah is the destruction of Jerusalem (Thorntveit, 62). The need to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem was more of a symbolic building, according to Editor Marco Conti in Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture Old Testament V, 1 2 Kings, 1 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, the wall was rebuilt because the devil has free entry into the church, as through the walls of a ruined city. In the Oxford Commentary, the wall was a sign of social and political symbolism. The rebuilding of the wall was significant because the Jews felt like they had to rebuild Jerusalem and to do that they would also need to rebuild the wall that was destroyed when Jerusalem was invaded, and the Jewish people were taken into their exile, for safety. According to David Brisben, author of the book Introduction to Old Testament, the Jews rebuilt the wall for safety. Everyone wants to feel safe in the city they live in, today we have police officers and laws. Back then all they had was an army (the strength of the army depended on the strength of the leader of the kingdom), and walls, so walls were very important to the people of the Biblical times. • 35. Analysis Of Jack London s The Yukon Wilderness Jack London was an American novelist who wrote To Build a Fire. It takes place somewhere along the paths of the Yukon wilderness. The story revolves around the protagonist who is a guy just referred to as the man. The man sets off on a journey on a frigid day with the idea that he will meet his friends by suppertime. However, his lack of wherewithal for cold and his overwhelming optimism about his situation leads him to a point of no return. As the man s journey evolves, so does the parable like morals . Some being respect your elders and another being a man must be careful when trying to go against nature. I will argue that the moral of the story is to always trust your gut. I will prove this by honing in on specific points of the story where this theme occurs. First, as the man s journey gets underway and he begins to make his way to the camp where he encounters an unlikely partner, where he should have reconsidered his judgment. At the man s heels trotted a dog, a big native husky, the proper wolf dog...Its instinct told it a truer tale than was told to by the man s judgment...The dog did not know anything about thermometers. Possibly in its brain there was no sharp consciousness of a condition of a very cold such as in the man s brain. But the brute had its instinct (P.125). The quote is saying that though the dog is native, has keen animal instincts, and is familiar with the cold temperatures. The inner voice of the dog was telling it that the extreme ... The Harm Principle In John Stuart Mill s On Liberty The dominant idea of John Stuart Mill s On Liberty is the harm principle, the assertion that society can only intervene with the action of an individual when said action harms or heightens the probability of harm to another individual without their consent. However Mill offers in addition a noteworthy caveat to the harm principle. He asserts that society can also intervene when the choice of the individual is to irrevocably surrender their liberty even when said action harms only themselves This exception to the harm principle emphasizes its purpose, the preservation of liberty which he deems to be a necessary condition for the cultivation of progress in society. The son of the king informs him that the state to the north is readying their army for an invasion to exterminate the kingdom s people. A courtier has heard the prince discussing a plan to divert the royal army in order to allow the southern neighbor to invade the kingdom and slaughter its people in exchange for a sum of gold. If the king s power is unlimited and the advocate of any opinion which he dislikes can be punished merely because he dislikes it, the courtier will naturally hesitate in expressing what he knows for fear he will not be believed and face execution for his insult upon the royal family. If faced with a sufficient probability of death from informing the king and from the invading army from the south, the courtier would choose, if he were to obey Hobbes s right of nature, to flee the kingdom without providing any warning. In an atmosphere of liberty, as would exist if the king had bound been bound by the harm principle, the courtier may declare what he has heard. • 40. Stamps By Maya Angelou Essay Maya starts explaining how after their parents decided to sent them away after putting and end to their calamitous marriage (Angelou 5) they arrived to Stamps after travelling alone from California; Maya realized later that this event was done also by other frightened Black children to their newly affluent parents in Northern cities or back to grandmothers in Southern towns (6). In Stamps, they met Momma and Uncle Willie, and they lived in the Store. The process of adaptation took Maya and Bailey a little bit of time, but finally Stamps, and particularly the Store, was her favorite place to be . However, the South then becomes a forceful determinant in the locus of Angelou s text. Southern life, as Angelou demonstrates, is one of harshness and brutality. It is exemplified by the conditions under which the workers of Stamps lived, the fear engendered by the Ku Klux Klan (whites), the wanton murder of Black folks, the racial separation of the town, and the innumerable incidents of denigration which made life in the South an abomination against God and Man. (Afzal 4) In Stamps the segregation was so complete that most Black children didn t really, absolutely know what whites looked like. Being the most beautiful bird cage people in the village has ever seen, Balthazar s pride and extravagant praise boosts up and he is full of confidence. From the beginning to the end of this short story he is well aware that the bird cage cannot belong to anyone but the person who requested it. The loyalty and dedication to clients in his business offers uniquely created products built from his heart. In the Poem 5000 Apply for 100 jobs by Jim Daniels, many can relate to this situation.
