The document discusses the use of a new method for modeling the behavior of reinforced concrete beams under monotonic loading. The proposed model uses a smeared crack approach to represent cracking in the concrete and nonlinear springs to represent the bond-slip behavior between concrete and reinforcement. The model was validated by comparing its predictions to experimental test results and showed good agreement for load-deflection responses and crack patterns of reinforced concrete beams.
