1960 s Cultural Changes
During the 1960 s, music began to change. From President Kennedy s assassination, to the
Vietnam War, and then the Civil Rights movement, these events all had an effect on the mood of
American s and music was used to reflect this change. The Vietnam War began almost unnoticed
by Americans but became a dominating fact of American politics by the mid 1960 s and the
American views of the war were very diverse(Johnson, 2012, pg. 273). Protest music was used to
address the Vietnam War, from the lack of progress being made to the amount of troops being sent
to Vietnam. This created the Anti War movement and protest music became the soundtrack. In a
survey performed by Rolling Stone, seventy percent of five star albums produced were released
between the Gulf of Tonkin incident and and the American withdrawal in 1973 (Anderson, 1986).
However, protest music was different than music released in earlier decades, it embodied the social
injustices and cultural changes of the world. This type of music would ultimately strengthen and

John Lennon introduced his first solo single in 1969 titled Give Peace A Chance, this song was
heard around the world and became the anthem for the anti Vietnam War movement. Lennon
also released Imagine in 1971, a song with a message of peace and hope, it would become the
best selling single of his career and one of the greatest songs of all time. In 1970 , Edwin Starr
released War, was one of the first anti war motown songs and it was one of the few protest songs
to rise to number one on the charts. Country Joe MacDonald released I Feel Like I m Fixin to
Die Rag in 1967, and when he performed it on stage in 1969 it became one of the most
memorable performances at Woodstock. All of these songs played a huge part in expressing their
feelings about the war and uniting all different types of

Research Paper On The Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower is one of the most well known structures in the world. Along with the Eiffel
Tower, Eiffel created many structures that are famous and innovative, like the Maria Pia in Portugal
and Bon MarchГ© Department Store. He also helped with the structural integrity of the Statue of
Liberty. Eiffel s father put him in a prestigious school in Paris. Although his interests were heavily
influenced by his father, Eiffel found his niche in structural engineering, and he flourished in that
niche. He gained much needed experience that led him to create and design his most famous
structures, including but not limited to the Maria Pia and the L.A. Boileau the Younger on the Bon
Marche Department Store in Paris. His major advances were mostly with structural techniques that
were aesthetically pleasing technique. Gustave Eiffels innovative design and aesthetic appeal
helped create long lasting structures. His structures, advances and his legacy transcends the
years. Gustave Eiffel was born in France in 1832. Even though his last name suggests that he is
German, his descendants resided in France for over a century before Eiffel was born. His father
was in the French military in the time of Napoleon. He converted to civil service and eventually
settled down in Dijon, where Eiffel would eventually be born, to work for his wife in her coal
enterprise. Eiffel s mother was a competent business leader. She helped keep her family
financially stable. Eiffel s other relatives were successful business leaders as well. His father
wanted to send him to l Ecole Polytechnique for its militaristic character in hopes that his son
would join the French forces as he once did. Instead, Eiffel went to l Ecole Centrale des Arts et
Manufactures. This school put him through a 3 yr course (6,7) during his 20th to his 23rd year, in
statics, hydraulics, metallurgy, biology, and the calculus. (Ellis, 1405). This curriculum was
standard. He learned general sciences. This became the foundation for his civil engineering
career: statics and calculus are essential for any engineer. While in school, according to Ellis,
Eiffel s standings were linear: 11th in his first year, 22nd in his second, and 33rd in his third.
(1405). This school

Essay about William Shakespeare s Measure for Measure
William Shakespeare s Measure for Measure
The desires of the characters in Shakespeare s Measure For Measure are not entirely clear, and
are made ambivalent and ambiguous by the use of their language. Particularly in 3.1.52 153, when
Isabella visits Claudio in prison, ambiguous lines and puns make it unclear whether Isabella
desires Claudio s death and whether he truly desires to be free of sin. These desires were further
convoluted by viewing the current Folger Theatre production of the play.
Trade (151) is one pun which illuminates ideas about Claudio s desires. Taken to mean an
exchange, Isabella insinuates that Claudio s sin and death are like the title of the play, a measure
taken for a measure, or rather a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If Claudio is willing to be wed to evil, then he would have no qualms about his sister doing the
same, or at the very least fornicating with Angelo for his devilish mercy (63). This possibility is
bolstered by Claudio s shift in tone and possible lack of concern for his sister s soul when he begs
Sweet sister, let me live (134), and attempts to justify the consequences by appealing to her good
nature, calling her sin a potential virtue.
However, this desire to live also stems from a desire for certainty, which he fears he cannot have
in death, expressed in lines 118 132. Much like the ambivalence and ambiguity of other lines in this
scene, this passage expresses several simultaneous possibilities for the afterlife. In a somewhat
Ovidian fashion, the sensible warm motion morphs paradoxically into places with both fiery floods
and thick ribbed ice. Comparing the uncertainty of death to known suffering in life reaffirms
Claudio s desire to live.
Another aspect of desire that is illuminated in this scene is desire as it relates to the relationship
between Isabella and Claudio as siblings. Most notably is her comment at line 140 that it may be
a kind of incest to take life / From thine own sister s shame. Incestuous desire opposes Isabella s
desire that Claudio be like their father, whom she seems

Gender Inequality And Decision Making
Inequality is experienced in various ways. Along with race and class inequalities, we have
gender inequalities. What creates and maintains significant gender inequality when it comes to
decision making? We could look back to1918; when Irish decision makers were made up solely
of men. From 1919 to today we see a similar trend of gender inequality. It seems that when it
comes to power and decision making, women take the back seat. We can argue that men and
woman are naturally good at different things resulting to society creating this gender gap. Power
and decision making belongs to men, although ministerial positions do not require physical
strength or abilities that a woman would not have by nature, however woman are absent in
taking part. Looking into where Ireland stands compared to the rest of the world, we can get an
idea of what contributes in maintaining gender inequality when it comes to positions of power
in political decision making. Social conflict can be seen all over the world we live in: in sports,
politics and normal social engagements. The main point I have experienced with this theory
would be the fact that I don t come from a rich, powerful, and prestigious family, which in turn
limits my chances of being successful. Karl Marx studied social conflict His entire life and wanted
to reduce social inequality. The social conflict theory can be described as favoritism. Society tends
to show favoritism to the prestigious members of that particular society. Social

The Impact Of Innovation On The Development Of A New...
Innovation is a combination of behaviors and skill sets that contribute to the development of a new
product or service that is cutting edge, creates value, is a breakthrough process or brings financial
success. Some people may think that innovation is something that only comes natural, a born skill
or talent. But according to Dyer, Gregersen, and Christensen (2011), anyone can become more
innovative through the mastering of the five discovery skills (associating, questioning, observing,
experimenting and networking). These five skills were identified through a study on the behaviors
that top innovators engage in. In this analysis, an in depth review of an article by Vineet Nayar, the
former CEO and vice chairman of HCLT will help to identify how discovery skills, were used to
create an innovative organization. As a newly appointed president of the Delhi based IT services
provider HCL Technologies(HCLT), Vineet Nayar found himself in a difficult position to either
stick with the current norms of his organization or take a leap towards greater possibilities.
Despite the continued growth of the company s revenues each year, it was still losing market
shares and mindshare. The industry was rapidly changing; its competitors were increasing in
growth more rapidly each year and the loss of the customer s interest in their services (Nayar,
2010). He knew that something would have to change in order for the company to survive and
thrive in a rapidly changing industry.

Former Auditor Sues Bank Of Internet
I did my paper on the article Ex auditor Sues Bank of Internet by Peter Eavis and he wrote the
article for the New York Times. Peter Eavis has written a couple of articles for the New York Times
about Bank of Internet USA. Bank of Internet USA is just like the name says, is a bank that
provides its services over the internet so it is always open because it is online. It was created in
1999 and now has over $6 billion in assets. Most of their business comes from loans on expensive

According to Gilliamlaw, Erhart s complaint had various wrongdoings that he brought to
management and federal regulators. Other than the two mentioned above in the summary, Bank of
Internet made threats to Erhart saying if he continues to turn over rocks, eventually he s going to
find a snake and he s going to get bit. (Gilliamlaw) This type of behavior is unethical, corrupt, and
unprofessional. This was not the only threat towards Erhart, there was a threat to have Erhart
arrested by the police for informing the federal regulators of what he has found. Erhart was also
told by an employee that CEO Garrabrants was telling employees that he intended to bury the BOFI
whistleblower . (Gillamlaw) According to Orzeck, some of the corporations that regulates Bank of
Internet are the Office of the comptroller of the Currency, Federal Deposit Insurance Corp, and the
U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Some of the stakeholders that were affected by this suit were the employees of Bank of Internet,
creditors that rely on the financial statements for interest rates and credit scores and the
shareholders of the company. The employees feel as if they are not safe anymore now because the
Whistleblower Protection Act of 1989 was supposed to protect Erhart but instead he was harassed

Innocence In The Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger...
In J.D. Salinger s The Catcher In The Rye, Holden Caulfield, a seventeen year old boy, transitions
from childhood to adulthood. The death of Holden s little brother signifies the beginning his loss
of innocence and growth of maturity. As he enters adulthood, Holden views society differently
from his peers by characterizing most of his peers and adults he meets as phonies. Thus, Holden
takes the impossible challenge of preserving the innocence in children because he wants to prevent
children from experiencing the corruption in society. The Catcher In The Rye embodies Holden s
struggle to preserve the innocence of children and reveals the inevitability of and the necessity of

Although Holden hardly even know[s] James, he sees him as someone who is real and not

to contemplate suicide in order to escape the world of phoniness he lives in. Consequently,
Holden s constant thoughts about suicide lead to his own loss of innocence and advancement
toward adulthood. Likewise, Holden is also consistently rejected when he seeks help from
others. On Saturday night, Holden rides the cab to Ernie s. During the ride, Holden sort of
[strikes] up a conversation with Horwitz, the cab driver, about the ducks in Central Park
(Salinger 81). Holden does not know where to go and feels lost, relating himself to the ducks
during winter. However, Horwitz blatantly shows no interest in the ducks and diverts the
conversation to the fish in the pond instead, thinking that winter is tougher for the fish (Salinger
82). Despite his curiosity, Holden quickly drops the conversation after seeing that Horwitz is
getting frustrated with him. In addition, Horwitz also rejects Holden s invitation to have a drink.
Later on, Holden hires Sunny, a prostitute. Although Holden claims to be a sex maniac, he is still
a virgin. Thus, as Sunny begins to take off her clothes, Holden feels peculiar and embarrassed. He
notices Sunny s childish habits, such as her teeny little wheeny whiny voice and lack of use of
vulgar language (Salinger 94). In addition, Sunny starts jiggling her

The Sales Of Sg Will Total $ 425200 Essay
Budget
The sales of SG will total $425,200 with $93,600 from subscriptions and $331,600 from sales of
gardens. Revenue for year two raises to $756,800 with $280,800 from subscriptions and
$476,000 from sales of gardens. Revenue of the third year increases to $1,109,800 with sales of
gardens increasing to $595,000 and subscription revenue to $514,800. Year one to two experiences
a 77.8% growth and year two to three experiences 46.7% growth. These numbers are reasonable
based on how diligently SG invests in marketing and sales. The reason growth fades from 77.8%
down to 46.7% is due to the unlikeliness that extremely high and consistent growth will be
sustainable for long periods of time.
The three largest expenses of SG include marketing and selling costs, material costs, and labor
costs. The capital spent by the business per square foot is $9.24 (corrected from the original pricing
plan), $3 per square foot for a contractor, $3 per square foot of cement, and $3.24 per square foot
for sales. Since 17,000 square feet are predicted to be remodeled in the first year, marketing
expenses for year one total $55,080. Expenses in the second and third years total $110,160 and
$137,700 respectively. For contractors and materials, the first year costs are $51,000 each,
$102,000 each for the second year, and $127,500 each for the third year.
The capital needed to fund SG to the point where it would generate positive income would be

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Search Engine Marketing...
You have a beautiful website up and running, and now you need to get it in front of people who
are interested in what you have to offer. The two big ways of doing this are search engine
marketing (SEM) and search engine optimization (SEO). They both have some advantages and
disadvantages.
Defining our terms is typically a good place to start. Some see SEO as being one element within
SEM, which can include other elements such as paid search marketing. Lately, many see a clearer
distinction between the two. Search engine optimization is the process of optimizing all the
elements on your website and between your website and other sites in order to increase its rank in
what s known as the organic search results. When discussing search engine marketing, digital
marketing professionals are typically referring to the process of engaging in paid advertising on the
search engines.
Search Engine Optimization
Search engine optimization is basically any action you do to your website that gets the search
engines to consider it to be a relevant search result to display when someone types in a search
term in Google, Bing or any other search engine. These actions, therefore, include optimizing the
meta data and content of your website for these keywords. Google also highly regards factors such
as fast webpage loading speeds, mobile friendly websites and the time a visitor spends on your
website. This last factor is why content marketing is important. Many of the latest Google algorithm

Adjustable Rate Mortgage loan is a loan that has a fluctuating interest rate. First time homebuyers

A Balloon Mortgage loan is a short term loan that contains some risk for the borrower. Balloon
mortgages can help you get into a mortgage loan, but again should be financed into a more
reliable or stable payment product as soon as financially feasible. The Balloon Mortgage should be
well thought out with a plan in place when getting this product. For example, you may plan on

Oppression in the Handmaid s Tale
Many people don t realize how much control the government has in society. They create rules and
laws for people in high hopes that everyone will be the same. The Government in America s
society is more laid back and not as strict as in the Handmaid s Tale. Because the Government has
so much power to brainwash and oppress the society to forget their past lives, the handmaids are
forced to be used as a fertility label which keeps them from gaining any authentic power over how
they choose to live their lives.
As a handmaid, it is their duty to have sex with the commander and eventually have a baby for that

The handmaids are basically used for babies and not respected as people. They are only shown
as a fertility label! Offred explains we are two legged wombs, that s all: sacred vessels,
ambulatory chalices (Atwood 136). Not only are they used to have babies for the commander
and wife, but the handmaid s start to disperse from their own bodies. They cannot love, speak, or
create a life on their own without the thousands of rules created by the Government. The
handmaids are no longer seen as a person but only for wombs. Offred begins to accept this part
of her that is only accepted as a reproductive organ. This is beyond wrong. No one should be
forced to have children for someone else. It s not even a choice to keep the child, proving there
is absolutely no freedom within the handmaids. They are required to accept the life they are
given despite how the past life was. Also, if handmaid s go against the law and sleep with
someone else, they feel like it s their fault or they made a mistake. It should be a freedom to sleep
with whoever anyone wants. Janine felt the need to blame herself for the babies death because she

The Stages Of Adulthood As The Stage Of Emerging Adulthood
Adulthood is when an individual is past the stage of being considered to be a teenager or young
adult . In America, adulthood starts at the age of 18, but in certain circumstances it has limited
access. The fact that many adolescents have relied on another individual for about eighteen years,
it will take more than two years for one to transit into their 20 s when it comes down to getting
their life together. Many expectations are expected for people in their 20 s, but one persons
expectations may be different from another. This new generation have a mind of their own, which
makes it hard to compare them to the earlier generations. From a young age, young adults learned
the strategy of lacking deep connection with their surroundings, which makes it harder for them to
mature into their 20 s. At that point of age, one should only be learning the strategies of relying on
their self, in which Robin Henig elaborate more on through Jeffrey Jensen Arnett theory. Arnett
consider the 20 s to be the stage of emerging adulthood. Arnett believes that emerging adulthood is
identifying exploration, instability self focus, feeling in between, and rather poetic characteristic,
he calls a sense of possibilities (Henig 200). One must first experience these things before becoming
an actual adult. There is an extreme amount of individuals in there 20 something s that may be
taking longer to fully develop into an adult, but it helps them figure out who they are as an

been noted as possibly contributing towards the large number of youth on custodial remand, mainly
for the indigenous community and younger people who reside in more remote and regional areas.
Because of this the provision aid in finishing bail orders can partake a critical role in decreasing

Police Body Cameras Essay
An increased attention on fatal police encounters and citizen s complains of improper use of
force have led to calls for law enforcement officers to wear body cameras when on duty. In order
to improve policing and police oversight the following recommendations are suggested: 1) Body
cameras should record at all times to increase accountability, 2) Monitoring should be done with a
fire alarm approach to incur effective oversight, 3) Footage must remain private to not decrease
policeproductivity by over monitoring.
The cameras must be required to be on recording mode when police officers are on duty and when
they respond to calls for service. Further, when activating the camera would slower the application
of force, and when it is unsafe to activating the camera, they police could have the excuse for not

If officers are required to record their interactions with the public, not recording the interaction and
having a complaint filed could incur gravely on their professional future. Because of this, officers

The police body camera is a device with monitoring purpose. The footage provides convenience
to the supervisor to be able to monitor the daily work of the police. As the service provider
would store the footage for at least 5 years per camera, the supervisor could randomly select the
record and check for each police working attitude and manner per day. Through this random police

and based on an individual authority. Together with the rising of shared sources, unauthorized
accessibility to data by unlawful users additionally heightens, it has been essential to secure
information via user validation and access control procedures (Yang, 2007). Domain Name
Service (DNS) The explanation of domains usually presumes that there has been a system that
allows a domain host to intercept communications. This type of system might permit domains to
always be added as well as removed devoid of influencing the whole process of servers interior or
exterior the domain. Preferably, this could be achieved by supplying a safe system for the
domain host to identify, within the IP routing stage, that network visitors headed for a specific
server should be directed via the domain. Sadly, no such system presently is available. This paper
provides some alternate systems as well as their weak points (Condell, 1996). To be able to
streamline our argument, we ll present a brand new phrase, the path. A path has been a listing of
domains via which some sort of request should travel to be able to get to the specific server that
may process the actual request. We ll enforce an ordering around the domain names inside a path
from most common to most precise. A domain has been much more

Living Overseas Research Paper
My Experience Living Overseas Nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to
experience. It was 1985 and I had just turned 21 years old. It was the year I joined the United
States Air Force. What I found most spectacular about Okinawa was the beauty of the island, the
magnificent blue ocean surrounding it, culture, and the people. What made Okinawa so
spectacular was the picturesque views of the mountains, the variety of terrain and vegetation. As
you moved away from the city it wasn t as congested it was more rural with homes separated by
space. The city of Okinawa was compact and overrun in apartment buildings and every space had
a store occupying it. As you moved away from the city it isn t as congested it is more rural with...

Okinawa has many beaches surrounding it. As you walk along the beach where the ocean joins
together it is lined with fine granules of white sand. The warmth of the sand under your feet also
filters in between your toes. Further out into the ocean it is crisp and clear, and your able to see the
fish swimming around your legs. The warmth of the sun, and the tepid water rushing in over the
body was refreshing. Some water activities in Okinawa include snorkeling and deep sea diving.
It is relaxing and fascinating swimming with some of the most magnificent sea creatures. Other
hobby s offered is spelunking which is cave exploration. It is an interesting hobby because you
don t know what you may find. One cave I explored I remember finding broken eye glasses, old
shoes, medicine bottles and other items. I left everything as it was because this is where people
had died in the war, and essentially their tomb. Some caves contained more than one level, they
were deep and wide it was amazing to see. Especially, when the depth and perception is confirmed
when you look up at the ceiling of the cave. Spelunking can be dangerous because the integrity of
the cave the ground may be compromised, and poisonous creatures reside in

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow s Poetry Of The Nineteenth...
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow epitomized poetry of the nineteenth century, yet remained living,
breathing figure through the aisles of history with his work.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was born in Portland, Maine then still part of
Massachusetts on February 27, 1807, the second son in a family of eight children. His mother,
Zilpah Wadsworth, found herself the daughter of a Revolutionary War hero. His father, Stephen
Longfellow, served a prominent Portland lawyer and later a member of Congress.Henry assumed
the role of a dreamy boy who loved to read. He heard sailors speaking many a language including
Spanish,
French and German in the Portland streets and liked stories set in foreign places: The Arabian
Nights, Robinson Crusoe, and the plays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such poems find themselves to invigorate the nineteenth century, according to hwlongfellow.org.
Both books were very popular, but
Longfellow s growing duties as a professor left him little time to write more. In addition, Frances
Appleton, a young woman from Boston he was courting, had refused his proposal of marriage.
Frances finally accepted his proposal the following spring, bringing in the best eighteen years of
Longfellow s life. The couple had six children, five of whom lived to adulthood, and the marriage
gave him a fighting spirit. In 1847, he published Evangeline, a book length poem about Evangeline,
which describes the betrothal of a fictional Acadian girl named Evangeline Bellefontaine to her
beloved, Gabriel
Lajeunesse, and their separation as the British deport the Acadians from Acadie in the Great
Upheaval. The poem then follows Evangeline across the landscapes of America as she spends
years in a search for him, at some times being near to Gabriel without realizing he was near.
Finally, she settles in Philadelphia and, as an old woman, works as a Sister of Mercy among the
poor. While tending the dying during an epidemic, she finds Gabriel among the sick, and he sadly
dies in her arms .The poem had a powerful effect in defining both Acadian history and identity in
the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Even to the point of inspiring similar stories, Louisiana
Judge Felix Voorhies published Acadian Reminiscences: The True Story of Evangeline, in

Allegories in of Mice and Men
In the novel, Of mice and Men , John Steinbeck uses allegory to represent different themes and
messages. An allegory is a story, poem or a picture which can be interpreted to reveal a hidden
meaning. While reading Steinbeck s book I noticed different metaphors such as the usage of
animals and Curley s wife. Throughout the whole book the reader can notice many animals
mentioned such as rabbits, mice, the puppy and the old dog. Curley s wife is also a sort of
symbol. She represents the way in which the women were treated and looked upon in those days.
The animals and Curley s wife all symbolize different things in life in the 1930 s USA. They all
symbolize the hopes and the dreams that the characters share which motivates and drives them...

Saying that the rabbits should be furry, fluffy and colorful makes their life even more padded
and warm, which protects them from the tough world at that time. The animals are a great way
to show and symbolize different things. To find the allegorical meaning you only have to look
in between the lines to find a different meaning to the words and sayings. This can be seen in
the case of Curley s wife. By looking more closely at the story, one can see that Curley s wife is
also a metaphor which symbolizes the way which other people looked upon women in the
society of the 1930 s. Curley s wife represents a whole marginalized group in the American
society at that time. In the novel, characters are never fully developed, but instead appear as
outlines or symbols of real people. Candy, Crooks, and Curley s wife represent the discriminated
groups of age, race, and sex. Curley s wife has been given an overall picture in the eyes of
George and Lennie before they even meet her, by Candy. The picture Candy paints about her
hints at how she tends to give all the men on the ranch the eye . Nobody really knows Curley s
wife because nobody ever talks to her and listens to what she really has to say. Curley s wife
wants attention. She wants people to notice her. She is the only woman on the ranch out of all the

Essay on Factors Contributing to Colony Collapse Disorder
Picture sitting next to a river in the summer time where it is just the perfect temperature and you
are soaking up the great weather and the amazing scenery when a bee buzzes past you and lands
on a flower by your feet, as human nature you don t want to be next to the bee because it could
sting you... do you step on it or simply walk away? What you may not know is that honeybees
play a huge roll in America s agriculture, whether it is pollinating alfalfa hay to feed your horse or
pollinating that apple you eat every morning for breakfast. Honeybees pollinate about one third of
crops species in the U.S. (Vanishing Bees, 2008). Bees pollinate a lot more than you would think a

The bees never seem to catch a break which is putting the bees under stress which is a factor.
Furthermore, when they are pollinating all these different plants some are not nutritious as others,
for example cucumbers aren t as healthy as some of the other plants but there is still a demand for
them, so the bees still have to work and eventually become unhealthy if they aren t getting the right
nutrients. Another factor is pesticides, which has many different points of view but overall it has
come to decided it is not the pesticides themselves that are killing masses of bees but it is lowering
their immune system and making it easier for them to get sick, for example with the common
parasite Nosema. Nosema is a parasite in the digestive track of the honey bee that attacks the entire
hive and can eventually wipe out the whole hive. The effects of the pesticides are ultimately never
letting the hives reach their maximum potential, which in the end could render the hives weak and
lethargic. There are so many pesticides out there it is hard to tell exactly what component in the
pesticide is hurting the bees. It is recently found that the inert ingredients used often to boost the
effectiveness of the pesticide are actually more harmful than the actual toxic ingredients

that is constantly emphasized is that we do everything we do with integrity. The idea of Integrity is

is a value that directly transcends the community of the brotherhood and impacts the world. The

Service Another quintessential aspect of Alpha Kappa Psi is the core value of service. Service is
emphasized by the idea that sharing of time, talent and treasure with society and with our fraternity
is a priority ( AKPsi Today ). As mentioned earlier, the organization promotes and highly
encourages its members to be involved win other communities. While this encourages personal
growth and development, ultimately, it emphasizes the point that we should be part of something
bigger than ourselves. Whether that means making an impact on a small school or an entire city it
is important that actions have an impactful purpose. Some initiatives AKPsi takes to be involved
in other communities is by having philanthropic events for many different communities such as
Mott s Children Hospital, Detroit Partnerships, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and the Friendship
Circle (Qadir). There are many brothers who have taken initiative outside of AKPsi to make an
impact outside of the club. One example of that embodies this and all other core values of AKPsi
is a club known as AccelerateCS. The clubs main mission is to expose and teach kids computer
science however, it has become much more than that. The club began supplying computer science
knowledge, but now more than anything it supplies friendship and mentorship. The club has
touched the hearts of both the members from our sides and the students. Brother Keeyan Sanjasaz
exclaims there is nothing more satisfying than going to that school every Friday and having kids
with a smile from cheek to cheek. It has been able to grow into such a successful club because
members are constantly joining after seeing how fulfilling the work they are doing is. As a

Mark Levinson, a physicist turned film maker, knows physics can be daunting to learn, let alone

wanted to challenge himself. He wanted to show science in a realistic and appealing way that will

on the Higgs mechanism. Kaplan has been working with experimental physicists at CERN with the

The Dyson Air Multiplier Essay
1. The Dyson Air Multiplier
1.1. Introduction
In October 2009, the british designer and innovator, Sir James Dyson best known for his line of
vacuum cleaners with cyclone technology launched a new product onto the market, a desktop fan
called the Dyson Air Multiplier, (Financial Times, 2009). This report gives a short description of
this innovation and explains in what way it is innovative. Next, its position in the product/service
/system spectrum will be explained and finally the potential for the widespread diffusion of this
innovation will be discussed.
1.2. A short description of the innovation, and its innovative aspects
The first electric fan was invented by wheeler in 1886, consisting of two blades, without the
protective cage, run by an electric motor (Carmack, 2009). Over the years, with the advancement in
technology, fans have become much lighter, safer, and more efficient. However, even though there
are many styles and sizes to choose from, the product s architecture has not changed significantly
(figure 1 and 2 ).
According to James Dyson, the problem with design as such is that the fan chops the air and
produce an uneven air flow, causing buffeting which people usually do not find pleasant; in
addition, conventional fans are unsafe for young children and difficult to clean (Etherington, 2009).
Unsatisfied with these flaws, along with the inspiration from another of his innovations, the
Airblade hand dryer, Dyson created the Air

As they told themselves a frequent activity was exploring and the reader understand this was
marginal when he mentions they were all easily distracted from their exploration with the sight of
the perfect ice to stomp on. Fraizer explains these distractions to extend the understanding of
margins and that they don t require uninterrupted focus because a person doesn t have something to
accomplish, a marginal activity could result in another marginal activity that could have an
outcome. I consider watching movies a marginal activity for many, people go to the theater to
simply relax and get their mind off of other things. Movies let a person engulf themselves in the
lives of others, fall in love all over again with a romance, laugh away all problems with a comedy,
or feel a rush of adrenaline with an action movie. Films similar to these can create inspiration in
people to find love, to become a director, even to become a writer to create a script that will affect
people as the film affected them. Margins being without any purpose unintentionally result with a
person having a purpose every purpose filled activity we pursue in the woods began as just fooling
around . Through observing his kids actions when they encountered a ditch Fraizer remembers his
personal experiences with margins. To Fraizer and his friends the woods played an important role

Impact Of The Subprime Crisis On The Economy
According to the Body of Literature, we can find several elements and factor that could be
precisely analyzed in order to accurately assess the role of the FED in managing the policies
enacted to limit and control the evolution of the subprime crisis.
The subprime crisis took place within the US, with a contagious effect that made it spread from
certain financial institutions to several different ones across different fields of interest and in major
countries, as many banking players and funds registered liquidity problems as a consequence of a
primary market credit crunch.
The figure of Ben Bernanke, the Chairman of the FED from 2006 to 2014, played a key role in
determining the success and the accuracy of FED s policies during this financial crisis and during
its recovery. Aim of this work will be not only to delineate and analyze what are the major actions
undertaken by the FED during this financial crisis, but also to investigate their effects, and the
consensus on their positive effects for the recovery of the US economy.
Most importantly, as repeatedly reported by major experts in this field, its belief that the FED
should clearly target stable inflation as primary objective (paralleling to the commitment of the
ECB), was then diminished as the financial crisis hit hard the US economy. He then understood the
necessity to stimulate directly the economy through the available monetary tools, although some
author criticizes the fact that he was not able to predict the

The Mid 1960s
The mid 1970s was a time when some people still identified as hippies. In the small college town
where I lived then I was reading a book in the alternative cafe, when a self styled hippy sat down
at my table. Sharing tables was quite common for that cafe, which espoused a more Marxist,
communal way of doing things. The hippy man appeared to be in his 30s, which seemed ancient
to me at the time. I wasn t in the mood to chat but when I put down my book to greet him he
started talking, expounding on his philosophy of life and his solutions for what ailed the human
race. One of his big ideas involved bananas. He said, Everyone s so depressed and you know
why? I didn t. They don t have enough potassium, man! If everyone ate bananas they wouldn t be
depressed. It s all in the bananas! I had some ideas of my own that were as strange to him as his
ideas were to me. Despite that, we enjoyed each other s company for a little while and shared a
few laughs. He got up to leave and we shook hands. As he walked away he paused, looked back
at me and said, I dig your mirth, man. And then he was gone and I never saw him again. But the
thought of him and our brief connection still makes me smile. Ten years ago I accompanied a
friend being admitted to an inpatient addiction rehab clinic. I sat with him for moral support as the
admission nurse asked him the standard questions. For him, entering rehab was a moment of pure
defeat, barely better than being in the gutter.

Analysis Of The Documentary Turning Into
It isn t rare for humans to take everyday things for granted. We often overlook the little
things, such as being able to drive to work or enjoy outdoor activities with our friends, and go on
about out busy days. While to us those things truly seem minuscule, for people with Acromegalic
Gigantism and Acromegaly they re monumental and life altering. The documentary Turning Into
A Giant follows the lives of three people this condition affects, and gives us a glimpse of what
living with it is like. While the main purpose of the documentary is to educate, it also carries a
message that tells us to value the little things and not take them for granted.
Gigantism is a condition which is caused by a tumor on the pituitary gland in the brain.
While only a few centimeters in size, it causes a giant surge in the growth hormone. However, a
lot more than just great height paints the person with it. It causes facial deformity, longer limbs,
increased risk of stroke and heart disease, and deepening of the voice. Gigantism can be
diagnosed before the end of puberty or after, and depending on that can cause different effects. If
it s diagnosed before puberty it s called Acromegalic Gigantism. The documentary presents Igor,
who s been diagnosed since six months of age. He surpassed his mother s height before the age
of seven. If Gigantism is diagnosed after puberty it s called Acromegaly, and causes patients to
grow outward rather than upward. Mary was diagnosed with it at 52,

objective of this article was to raise awareness of the, at the time, newly developed research
regarding Leigh Syndrome, a rare disease that effects mostly newly born and developing babies.

The main point of confusion in this paper comes from this passage glucose restriction, an
intervention that works in part through the TOR pathway, extends the life span of yeast lacking
homologs of genes implicated in Leigh Syndrome. (Vafai et al.) The reason why this causes
confusion is because it is not clear as to how glucose restriction increases the longevity of the model
yeast cells, and more so as to how this can relate to Leigh s Syndrome in humans. It is understood
that yeast cells, predominately, produce ATP through fermentation (Morton et al.); this being said,
fermentation is not commonly used in the human body. Therefore it is difficult to understand how
this relates to humans, of whom, most commonly use an entirely different pathway for ATP
production. To me, it seems as though Vafai et al. mentions glucose and yeast fermentation then
jumps straight to applying Rapamycin to the Leigh s Syndrome model

Underage Drinking In America
Underage drinking is a very eminent problem for Americans today. Some may not know that the
human brain continues to develop until the age of twenty five. Underage drinking can weaken
neurological development, which could cause minors to make bad decisions, have memory loss,
slower thought processes, and even acquire irreversible brain damage. Drinking when your body
and mind are not fully developed can leave damaging effects on a person s social abilities,
neurological abilities, and overall health.
A youth s social abilities can be destroyed by underage drinking. Socialization skills are key when
a minor is growing up. A minor struggles to find their own independence and find themselves,
therefore creating a distance from family relationships and creating new bonds with peers. The
youth tend to try to be similar to each other to fit in with the rest, and as a result, children may be
pressured into drinking alcohol. When these minors start to drink heavily and frequently, they
may develop self esteem issues, depression, disorders, antisocial behavior, and anxiety. This
makes underage drinkers more withdrawn from their peers and families than their peers who
choose not to drink. Peers who don t drink do not tend to associate and be friends with the group
of people that do drink. This can lead to isolation and also disdain from those who do ... Show more

convey how there are many poetic devices in Life is Worth Living . These lyrics show examples
of symbolism, repetition, and mood. Life is Worth Living has more poetic devices than the poem,
Barter , which makes the song lyrics more artistic through the use of metaphors, allusions,
symbolism, alliteration, hyperboles, mood, and repetition. Life is Worth Living uses many
examples of repetition. One example of repetition is in the lines, Life is worth living, so live

The poem, Barter also uses repetition. Sara Teasdale incorporates this poetic device into her
poem in the lines, Life has loveliness to sell, (Teasdale lines 1, 7). Teasdale repeats this line
because it is the overall theme and message to the poem. This line is what she wants the reader
to get out of the poem. Overall, both the song and poem show examples of repetition. In both
texts, the authors use many symbols in their lyrics and words. In Life is Worth Living , Justin
Bieber uses many symbols to describe the message of the song. One example of that would be
the lines, Said it ain t over / Oh, even in the midst of doubt / Life is worth living (Bieber lines 16
18). This is symbolism because it is symbolizing how you should never give up, no matter what
the situation is. In Barter , there are also many symbols that make up the poem. One of them being,

The War Of The Vietnam War
Between 1964 and 1975 the heightened tensions over the Vietnam war caused many americans to
become divided on the actions taken by the government across seas. Americans questioned whether
the government could be trusted. The feeling of betrayal and government secrecy created the
Credibility Gap, in which many americans believed that the government no longer was for the
people, but for anything else that would benefit the government. The Vietnam War exacerbated the
gap between the pro war traditionalists and anti war liberals along with an increase in military
action, causing controversy over government spending; as a whole these factors established a sense
of distrust between the American government and its people. The Credibility Gap expanded during
the Vietnam War causing citizens to question the truthfulness of president Johnson s administration
and the reports on events that were occurring overseas in Vietnam. When Daniel Ellsberg released
the Pentagon Papers to the media in 1971 he increased the public s distrust in the American
government. The pentagon papers, originally named Report of the Office of the Secretary of
Defense Vietnam Task Force by Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, contained secret
government reports detailing the decisions made in the Vietnam War under the Kennedy and
Johnson administration. Also written within the report was a detailed layout of operation Rolling
Thunder, in which the United States strategically bombed north Vietnam from

Scholarly Article Critique The problem as stated appeared to be of profound significance for
determining how to best benefit children with cleft type who have a learning disability in reading.
While this may be true, the study resonates that there are signs of inconclusiveness. To specifically
address shortcomings to the study, however, the stated problem was not clearly visible to an

Wouter Kellerman Characteristics
1.INTRODUCTION
Wouter Kellerman, a South African flautist, has made an impact in the music world, specifically
that of world music . Developing his own unique cross over style, Kellerman has gained both
national and international fame as indicated by winning a number of prestigious awards and
performing at several prominent national and international events, in addition to concert tours.
Furthermore, Kellerman has released a number of recorded albums, which have been distributed
around the world and have received critical acclaim. However, one of the most notable
characteristics of Kellerman is his status as a cross over engineer musician something which
significantly influenced the course of his life and career.
2.LIFE
2.1Childhood
Wouter Kellerman grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. Growing up, only classical musicwas
played in the house, as his parents enjoyed it, thus exposing him to Western art music and enabling
him to develop a love for this genre of music. His love for African music also developed during this
time. When his mother went to work, Kellerman was looked after by a woman who constantly
played African music, thus exposing him to these musical influences from an early age.
Additionally, Kellerman would continually listen to the radio, exposing him ... Show more content

Kellerman s change between careers is not a unique occurrence yet remains one of otherness as
the majority of musicians are only, and have ever been, musicians. Indeed, Kellerman s cross
over status could be related to alterity as found in class (Beard Gloag 2010: 8 9), as, in today s
society, engineers are often viewed as having a higher status than that of musicians, specifically
those who perform art

Understanding Jeremiah s Prophecy
Compulsory Service and Conditional Calamity
The original prophecy said:
11 And all this land will be reduced to ruins and will become an object of horror, and these nations
will have to serve the king of Babylon for 70 years. 12 But when 70 years have been fulfilled, I
will call to account the king of Babylon and that nation for their error, declares Jehovah, and I will
make the land of the Chaldeans a desolate wasteland for all time. Jer. 2511 12
The Original Prophecy content:
1. Babylon to be used as Gods servant to punish disobedient nations including Jerusalem and Judah
2. Land to be reduced to ruins and a object of horror
3. All these nations including Jerusalem and Judah to serve Babylon 70 years explicitly.
4. Context shows that the serving Babylon for 70 years was compulsory , the calamity and ruin
was conditional the people could have served 70 years without suffering the calamity.
5. After 70 years Babylon call to account and suffers similar devastation
The Context
This is most important in understanding Jeremiah s prophecy, it is in fact the key to how the 70
years is applied.
Jer 26:3 Perhaps they will listen and each one will turn back from his evil way, and I will change
my mind concerning the calamity that I intend to bring on them because of their evil deeds.
(Calamity conditional)

Ўzquez and Pablo Picasso both created a work of art called Las
Meninas. VelГЎzquez created this painting for the royal family of Spain. Picasso created 58
interpretations of Las Meninas, but each in their own unique way. He may have borrowed
VelГЎzquez s idea, but he created his own, very original, works of art around that idea. Now, the
58 pieces stand in a museum in Spain, where they are displayed to be gazed upon and to be
appreciated by other citizens of Spain. VelГЎzquez s Las Meninas is now in Museo del Prado, in
Madrid, Spain.VelГЎzquez s Las Meninas and Picasso s Versions of Las Meninas have quite a
few similarities. For starters, in both paintings there is the little princess in the middle of a
room. She is also wearing the same outfit in each painting, even though Picasso s version looks a
little more like a block. In both of the pictures, the little princess is taking what looks like a cup
from one of her ladies in waiting that is handing it to her on a golden tray. If you look closely at
VelГЎzquez s painting, you can see that the cup in the princess hand has a hint of red color, and
Picasso s also added a bit of orange color to the cup in his painting. In both pieces, you can see
that the room that the little princess stands in is dark, with different shades of dark colors, like
gray, black, and a lighter gray. There are few differences between the two Las Meninas paintings.
Here s a few of them. One is

Mackenzie King Research Paper
Mackenzie King and his Leadership
Intro:
Strong leadership is taking ownership of a responsibility, willingly, creatively and effectively.
Strong leaders provide direction and support through unstable times, think deeply about the future,
account everyone s beliefs and opinions, and influence their followers. Every successful leader
needs four qualities; confidence, fairness, intelligence and persuasiveness. One of history s
strongest leaders was William Lyon Mackenzie King. Mackenzie King is remembered as one of
the greatest Canadian leaders in history as he lead the Liberal and Canadian Parliament through the
happiest and most troubled times for over two decades. His leadership was composed of his strong

Strong leaders require the character trait of fairness as it shows equal treatment and respect of
different opinions, and avoids many conflicts. Mackenzie King demonstrated fairness with the
English and French speakers in Canada to unite Canada as one, and to avoid conflicts. For
example, when King was first elected in 1921, his major goal was to unite all Canadians, mainly
focusing on Protestants and Catholics. A month prior to being elected, King wrote in his diary; A
United Canada I made the first consideration...I want farmers, labour, soldiers, business and
professions represented, and balance between Protestants, and Catholics. This demonstrates the
fairness Mackenzie King shows towards all labour workers and professions as well as both
Anglophones and Francophones, even before getting elected. His first consideration is a balance
between Protestants and Catholics , which displays the significance fairness has in King s eyes,
as it shows that King s first priority is the fairness between the two groups. Specifically,
Mackenzie King demonstrates his fairness with French and English during the Conscription Crisis
of 1944. To obtain the support from the French, King had pledged The present government
believes that conscription of men for overseas service would not be necessary or an effective step.

Every Step is a form of Prayer Intricate costumes, rhythmic movement, expression of culture, and
religious backgrounds all make up the art form of the dance of los Matachines. The traditional
dance drama of los Matachines is danced by both men and women of all ages. Essentially, every
costume and instrument used by los Matachines is self made by the dancers and can be created
from many different materials such as rocks, sand, feathers, etc. To begin their dance, these dancers

mentioned before, every group of Matachines will have their own story to tell depending on the

by any group of Matachines is typically about one of the main characters, Malinche, whose only
desire is for El Monarca to murder El Toro who is represented by a man with horns on his head
running around and through the dancers. El Toro threatens Monarca, Malinche, and anyone else
in his way. The evil then is finally overpowered, killed, and castrated. There will be times when a

The Impact Of Guided Reflection On Self-Care Behavior
Implications Theoretically, there is dearth of literature addressing the impact of guided reflection
on self care behavior. To date, only one study within the heart failure population has combined the
theory of self care of chronic illness and Gibbs reflective cycle framework to evaluate the impact of
guided reflection on self care behaviors (Sethares Asselin, 2017). Importantly, this study is the first
to combine the two frameworks within the DM population. Based on statistical analyses and
qualitative data from this study, there are opportunities for further exploration of the combined
frameworks in future studies to illuminate the constructs of the self care theory and possibly theory
/ instruments modification and development. In this study, guided reflection was found to improve
DM knowledge which serves as a starting point for behavior change. Furthermore, guided reflection
has been shown to positively impact self care behaviors (Mamykina et al., 2008; Sethares Asselin,
2017). Importantly, the targeted population was satisfied with the guided reflection intervention
and requested that it be promoted among others with DM. Participants perspective is important
when planning and developing nursing interventions. Considering the evidence, the opportunity
exists to educate patients and/ caregivers to engage in guided reflection using Gibbs reflective
questions to promote adequate self care. This is an auspicious moment to teach healthcare
professionals within the

Pros And Cons Of A Lawyer
There are just so many things people don t really know about lawyers, one of the most common
facts that people know is that they are the ones that could help you out when it comes to legal
matters. People also know that it takes such a wise mind, commitment and dedication, to
become one. Unfortunately, there are some people who simply believe in basically whatever
they hear so they make unfair judgement towards lawyers. Here are some of the most common
questions people think about when it comes to lawyers. The only secret that the lawyer really
possesses about the law is that no one can ever be certain of what the law is. The lawyer is
accustomed to the ways of bending and and changing the rules to suit his or his client s purpose,
to dance in the shadows of the law s ambiguities. Rules hold no particular terror for the lawyer,
just as the sight of blood holds no terror for the surgeon. Because he operates as system of rules,
the lawyer becomes indifferent to the humanity of the body that is lying on the operating table.

question that people has when it comes to lawyers. A lawyers job is to guide and give advice to
people who need it when it comes to legal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Practicing law can definitely be rewarding since most lawyers earn a lot, according to the Bureau
of Labor Statistics, the average median pay for lawyers in the last 5 years was $112,760, but this
would of course depend on the field of law in which they practice and of course depend on where
they live as well. However, public service lawyers of course make less, probably half of the private
ones. It would also depend on the competition for the best corporate law jobs since people, most
especially companies would of course hire lawyers who came from the top law schools with
impressive GPA and has won multiple

Essay on Evolution
Essay on Evolution
There are many mechanisms that lead to evolutionary change. One of the most important
mechanism in evolution is natural selection which is the differential success in the reproduction of
different phenotypes resulting from the interaction of organisms with their environment. Natural
selection occurs when a environment makes a individual adapt to that certain environment by
variations that arise by mutation and genetic recombination. Also it favors certain traits in a
individual than other traits so that these favored traits will be presented in the next generation.
Another mechanism of evolution is genetic drift. Genetic drift is a random change in a small gene

Some bacteria had genes that coded for enzymes that specifically destroyed certain antibiotics such
as ampicillin. From this incident, scientists were able to deduce that natural selection helped the
bacteria to inherit the genes for antibiotic resistance. Scientists have also been able to use
biochemistry as a source of evidence. The comparison of genes of two species is the most direct
measure of common inheritance from shared ancestors. Using DNA DNA hybridization, whole
genomes can be compared by measuring the extent of hydrogen bonding between single
stranded DNA obtained from two sources. The similarity of the two genes can be seen by how
tightly the DNA of one specie bonds to the DNA of the other specie. Many taxonomic debates
have been answered using this method such as whether flamingos are more closely related to
storks or geese. This method compared the DNA of the flamingo to be more closely related to the
DNA of the stork than the geese. The only disadvantage of this method is that it does not give
precise information about the matchup in specific nucleotide sequences of the DNA which
restriction mapping does. This technique uses restriction enzymes that recognizes a specific
sequence of a few nucleotides and cleaves DNA wherever such sequences are found in the genome.
Then the DNA fragments are separated by electrophoresis and compared to

The Life Of Flannery O Connor Essay
The impact of an author s life on their writing is vast. Many people do not see the large influence
of an author s childhood on their writings, but it plays a major role. The life of Flannery O

O Connor got to know Robert Penn Warren, John Crowe Ransom, Austin Warren, and Andrew
Lytle. They are some of the major writers who taught in the programs at the University of Iowa.
Andrew Lytle became one of the first to like the writings of Flannery O Connor, and mentored
her. Because he was the editor of the Sewanne Review, Lytle published many of O Connor s
stories, along with some critical reviews of her stories (Gordon 1).
Paul Engle was one of the first people to read the first drafts of Wise Blood, O Connor s first

  • 2. 1960 s Cultural Changes During the 1960 s, music began to change. From President Kennedy s assassination, to the Vietnam War, and then the Civil Rights movement, these events all had an effect on the mood of American s and music was used to reflect this change. The Vietnam War began almost unnoticed by Americans but became a dominating fact of American politics by the mid 1960 s and the American views of the war were very diverse(Johnson, 2012, pg. 273). Protest music was used to address the Vietnam War, from the lack of progress being made to the amount of troops being sent to Vietnam. This created the Anti War movement and protest music became the soundtrack. In a survey performed by Rolling Stone, seventy percent of five star albums produced were released between the Gulf of Tonkin incident and and the American withdrawal in 1973 (Anderson, 1986). However, protest music was different than music released in earlier decades, it embodied the social injustices and cultural changes of the world. This type of music would ultimately strengthen and unify... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... John Lennon introduced his first solo single in 1969 titled Give Peace A Chance, this song was heard around the world and became the anthem for the anti Vietnam War movement. In 1970 , Edwin Starr released War, was one of the first anti war motown songs and it was one of the few protest songs to rise to number one on the charts. Country Joe MacDonald released I Feel Like I m Fixin to Die Rag in 1967, and when he performed it on stage in 1969 it became one of the most memorable performances at Woodstock. • 3. Research Paper On The Eiffel Tower The Eiffel Tower is one of the most well known structures in the world. Along with the Eiffel Tower, Eiffel created many structures that are famous and innovative, like the Maria Pia in Portugal and Bon MarchГ© Department Store. He also helped with the structural integrity of the Statue of Liberty. Eiffel s father put him in a prestigious school in Paris. Although his interests were heavily influenced by his father, Eiffel found his niche in structural engineering, and he flourished in that niche. He gained much needed experience that led him to create and design his most famous structures, including but not limited to the Maria Pia and the L.A. Boileau the Younger on the Bon Marche Department Store in Paris. His major advances were mostly with structural techniques that were aesthetically pleasing technique. Gustave Eiffels innovative design and aesthetic appeal helped create long lasting structures. His structures, advances and his legacy transcends the years. Gustave Eiffel was born in France in 1832. Even though his last name suggests that he is German, his descendants resided in France for over a century before Eiffel was born. His father was in the French military in the time of Napoleon. He converted to civil service and eventually settled down in Dijon, where Eiffel would eventually be born, to work for his wife in her coal enterprise. Eiffel s mother was a competent business leader. She helped keep her family financially stable. Eiffel s other relatives were successful business leaders as well. His father wanted to send him to l Ecole Polytechnique for its militaristic character in hopes that his son would join the French forces as he once did. Instead, Eiffel went to l Ecole Centrale des Arts et Manufactures. This school put him through a 3 yr course (6,7) during his 20th to his 23rd year, in statics, hydraulics, metallurgy, biology, and the calculus. (Ellis, 1405). This curriculum was standard. He learned general sciences. This became the foundation for his civil engineering career: statics and calculus are essential for any engineer. While in school, according to Ellis, Eiffel s standings were linear: 11th in his first year, 22nd in his second, and 33rd in his third. (1405). This school ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The New Media and the Loss of Privacy. Media technologies were embraced by people as the means of easing their lives. However, if one does not know or take measures to use this technology properly, then one risks his life being abused by technology (Doyle, 2010, p. 4). However, after September 11, state authorities have become more persistent and empowered to claim access to private lives of their citizens under the aegis of the war on terror (Wong, 2006, pp. 179 219). During the period from its enactment in 2001 and until the final amendments in 2011, USA Patriot Act (the acronym for Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism) has evolved from a security tool into an official waiver of the citizens right to privacy having sanctioned ... • 5. Essay about William Shakespeare s Measure for Measure William Shakespeare s Measure for Measure The desires of the characters in Shakespeare s Measure For Measure are not entirely clear, and are made ambivalent and ambiguous by the use of their language. Particularly in 3.1.52 153, when Isabella visits Claudio in prison, ambiguous lines and puns make it unclear whether Isabella desires Claudio s death and whether he truly desires to be free of sin. These desires were further convoluted by viewing the current Folger Theatre production of the play. Trade (151) is one pun which illuminates ideas about Claudio s desires. Taken to mean an exchange, Isabella insinuates that Claudio s sin and death are like the title of the play, a measure taken for a measure, or rather a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If Claudio is willing to be wed to evil, then he would have no qualms about his sister doing the same, or at the very least fornicating with Angelo for his devilish mercy (63). This possibility is bolstered by Claudio s shift in tone and possible lack of concern for his sister s soul when he begs Sweet sister, let me live (134), and attempts to justify the consequences by appealing to her good nature, calling her sin a potential virtue. However, this desire to live also stems from a desire for certainty, which he fears he cannot have in death, expressed in lines 118 132. Much like the ambivalence and ambiguity of other lines in this scene, this passage expresses several simultaneous possibilities for the afterlife. In a somewhat Ovidian fashion, the sensible warm motion morphs paradoxically into places with both fiery floods and thick ribbed ice. Comparing the uncertainty of death to known suffering in life reaffirms Claudio s desire to live. Another aspect of desire that is illuminated in this scene is desire as it relates to the relationship between Isabella and Claudio as siblings. Most notably is her comment at line 140 that it may be a kind of incest to take life / From thine own sister s shame. Incestuous desire opposes Isabella s desire that Claudio be like their father, whom she seems ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Gender Inequality And Decision Making Inequality is experienced in various ways. Along with race and class inequalities, we have gender inequalities. What creates and maintains significant gender inequality when it comes to decision making? We could look back to1918; when Irish decision makers were made up solely of men. From 1919 to today we see a similar trend of gender inequality. It seems that when it comes to power and decision making, women take the back seat. We can argue that men and woman are naturally good at different things resulting to society creating this gender gap. Power and decision making belongs to men, although ministerial positions do not require physical strength or abilities that a woman would not have by nature, however woman are absent in taking part. Looking into where Ireland stands compared to the rest of the world, we can get an idea of what contributes in maintaining gender inequality when it comes to positions of power in political decision making. Social conflict can be seen all over the world we live in: in sports, politics and normal social engagements. The main point I have experienced with this theory would be the fact that I don t come from a rich, powerful, and prestigious family, which in turn limits my chances of being successful. Karl Marx studied social conflict His entire life and wanted to reduce social inequality. The social conflict theory can be described as favoritism. Society tends to show favoritism to the prestigious members of that particular society. Social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Impact Of Innovation On The Development Of A New... Innovation is a combination of behaviors and skill sets that contribute to the development of a new product or service that is cutting edge, creates value, is a breakthrough process or brings financial success. Some people may think that innovation is something that only comes natural, a born skill or talent. But according to Dyer, Gregersen, and Christensen (2011), anyone can become more innovative through the mastering of the five discovery skills (associating, questioning, observing, experimenting and networking). These five skills were identified through a study on the behaviors that top innovators engage in. In this analysis, an in depth review of an article by Vineet Nayar, the former CEO and vice chairman of HCLT will help to identify how discovery skills, were used to create an innovative organization. As a newly appointed president of the Delhi based IT services provider HCL Technologies(HCLT), Vineet Nayar found himself in a difficult position to either stick with the current norms of his organization or take a leap towards greater possibilities. Despite the continued growth of the company s revenues each year, it was still losing market shares and mindshare. The industry was rapidly changing; its competitors were increasing in growth more rapidly each year and the loss of the customer s interest in their services (Nayar, 2010). He knew that something would have to change in order for the company to survive and thrive in a rapidly changing industry. The Use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Peter Eavis has written a couple of articles for the New York Times about Bank of Internet USA. Bank of Internet USA is just like the name says, is a bank that provides its services over the internet so it is always open because it is online. It was created in 1999 and now has over $6 billion in assets. Most of their business comes from loans on expensive mortgages. (Eavis) According to Gilliamlaw, Erhart s complaint had various wrongdoings that he brought to management and federal regulators. Other than the two mentioned above in the summary, Bank of Internet made threats to Erhart saying if he continues to turn over rocks, eventually he s going to find a snake and he s going to get bit. (Gilliamlaw) This type of behavior is unethical, corrupt, and unprofessional. This was not the only threat towards Erhart, there was a threat to have Erhart arrested by the police for informing the federal regulators of what he has found. Erhart was also told by an employee that CEO Garrabrants was telling employees that he intended to bury the BOFI whistleblower . Revenue for year two raises to $756,800 with $280,800 from subscriptions and $476,000 from sales of gardens. Revenue of the third year increases to $1,109,800 with sales of gardens increasing to $595,000 and subscription revenue to $514,800. Year one to two experiences a 77.8% growth and year two to three experiences 46.7% growth. These numbers are reasonable based on how diligently SG invests in marketing and sales. The reason growth fades from 77.8% down to 46.7% is due to the unlikeliness that extremely high and consistent growth will be sustainable for long periods of time. The three largest expenses of SG include marketing and selling costs, material costs, and labor costs. The capital spent by the business per square foot is $9.24 (corrected from the original pricing plan), $3 per square foot for a contractor, $3 per square foot of cement, and $3.24 per square foot for sales. You have a beautiful website up and running, and now you need to get it in front of people who are interested in what you have to offer. The two big ways of doing this are search engine marketing (SEM) and search engine optimization (SEO). They both have some advantages and disadvantages. Defining our terms is typically a good place to start. Some see SEO as being one element within SEM, which can include other elements such as paid search marketing. Lately, many see a clearer distinction between the two. Search engine optimization is the process of optimizing all the elements on your website and between your website and other sites in order to increase its rank in what s known as the organic search results. When discussing search engine marketing, digital marketing professionals are typically referring to the process of engaging in paid advertising on the search engines. Search Engine Optimization Search engine optimization is basically any action you do to your website that gets the search engines to consider it to be a relevant search result to display when someone types in a search term in Google, Bing or any other search engine. These actions, therefore, include optimizing the meta data and content of your website for these keywords. In America, adulthood starts at the age of 18, but in certain circumstances it has limited access. The fact that many adolescents have relied on another individual for about eighteen years, it will take more than two years for one to transit into their 20 s when it comes down to getting their life together. Many expectations are expected for people in their 20 s, but one persons expectations may be different from another. This new generation have a mind of their own, which makes it hard to compare them to the earlier generations. From a young age, young adults learned the strategy of lacking deep connection with their surroundings, which makes it harder for them to mature into their 20 s. At that point of age, one should only be learning the strategies of relying on their self, in which Robin Henig elaborate more on through Jeffrey Jensen Arnett theory. Together with the rising of shared sources, unauthorized accessibility to data by unlawful users additionally heightens, it has been essential to secure information via user validation and access control procedures (Yang, 2007). This type of system might permit domains to always be added as well as removed devoid of influencing the whole process of servers interior or exterior the domain. Preferably, this could be achieved by supplying a safe system for the domain host to identify, within the IP routing stage, that network visitors headed for a specific server should be directed via the domain. Sadly, no such system presently is available. This paper provides some alternate systems as well as their weak points (Condell, 1996). Another factor is pesticides, which has many different points of view but overall it has come to decided it is not the pesticides themselves that are killing masses of bees but it is lowering their immune system and making it easier for them to get sick, for example with the common parasite Nosema. Nosema is a parasite in the digestive track of the honey bee that attacks the entire hive and can eventually wipe out the whole hive. According to James Dyson, the problem with design as such is that the fan chops the air and produce an uneven air flow, causing buffeting which people usually do not find pleasant; in addition, conventional fans are unsafe for young children and difficult to clean (Etherington, 2009). Fraizer says that marginal placeand activities are the most important kind (46) because they are where you can try out odd ideas . As they told themselves a frequent activity was exploring and the reader understand this was marginal when he mentions they were all easily distracted from their exploration with the sight of the perfect ice to stomp on. Fraizer explains these distractions to extend the understanding of margins and that they don t require uninterrupted focus because a person doesn t have something to accomplish, a marginal activity could result in another marginal activity that could have an outcome. I consider watching movies a marginal activity for many, people go to the theater to simply relax and get their mind off of other things. Movies let a person engulf themselves in the lives of others, fall in love all over again with a romance, laugh away all problems with a comedy, or feel a rush of adrenaline with an action movie. Films similar to these can create inspiration in people to find love, to become a director, even to become a writer to create a script that will affect people as the film affected them. • 32. Impact Of The Subprime Crisis On The Economy According to the Body of Literature, we can find several elements and factor that could be precisely analyzed in order to accurately assess the role of the FED in managing the policies enacted to limit and control the evolution of the subprime crisis. The subprime crisis took place within the US, with a contagious effect that made it spread from certain financial institutions to several different ones across different fields of interest and in major countries, as many banking players and funds registered liquidity problems as a consequence of a primary market credit crunch. The figure of Ben Bernanke, the Chairman of the FED from 2006 to 2014, played a key role in determining the success and the accuracy of FED s policies during this financial crisis and during its recovery. Aim of this work will be not only to delineate and analyze what are the major actions undertaken by the FED during this financial crisis, but also to investigate their effects, and the consensus on their positive effects for the recovery of the US economy. Most importantly, as repeatedly reported by major experts in this field, its belief that the FED should clearly target stable inflation as primary objective (paralleling to the commitment of the ECB), was then diminished as the financial crisis hit hard the US economy. He then understood the necessity to stimulate directly the economy through the available monetary tools, although some author criticizes the fact that he was not able to predict the ... In the small college town where I lived then I was reading a book in the alternative cafe, when a self styled hippy sat down at my table. Sharing tables was quite common for that cafe, which espoused a more Marxist, communal way of doing things. The hippy man appeared to be in his 30s, which seemed ancient to me at the time. I wasn t in the mood to chat but when I put down my book to greet him he started talking, expounding on his philosophy of life and his solutions for what ailed the human race. One of his big ideas involved bananas. He said, Everyone s so depressed and you know why? I didn t. They don t have enough potassium, man! If everyone ate bananas they wouldn t be depressed. It s all in the bananas! I had some ideas of my own that were as strange to him as his ideas were to me. Despite that, we enjoyed each other s company for a little while and shared a few laughs. He got up to leave and we shook hands. As he walked away he paused, looked back at me and said, I dig your mirth, man. And then he was gone and I never saw him again. But the thought of him and our brief connection still makes me smile. Ten years ago I accompanied a friend being admitted to an inpatient addiction rehab clinic. I sat with him for moral support as the admission nurse asked him the standard questions. For him, entering rehab was a moment of pure defeat, barely better than being in the gutter. ... While to us those things truly seem minuscule, for people with Acromegalic Gigantism and Acromegaly they re monumental and life altering. The documentary Turning Into A Giant follows the lives of three people this condition affects, and gives us a glimpse of what living with it is like. While the main purpose of the documentary is to educate, it also carries a message that tells us to value the little things and not take them for granted. Gigantism is a condition which is caused by a tumor on the pituitary gland in the brain. While only a few centimeters in size, it causes a giant surge in the growth hormone. However, a lot more than just great height paints the person with it. It causes facial deformity, longer limbs, increased risk of stroke and heart disease, and deepening of the voice. Gigantism can be diagnosed before the end of puberty or after, and depending on that can cause different effects. If it s diagnosed before puberty it s called Acromegalic Gigantism. The documentary presents Igor, who s been diagnosed since six months of age. He surpassed his mother s height before the age of seven. It is understood that yeast cells, predominately, produce ATP through fermentation (Morton et al.); this being said, fermentation is not commonly used in the human body. Underage drinking can weaken neurological development, which could cause minors to make bad decisions, have memory loss, slower thought processes, and even acquire irreversible brain damage. Drinking when your body and mind are not fully developed can leave damaging effects on a person s social abilities, neurological abilities, and overall health. A youth s social abilities can be destroyed by underage drinking. Socialization skills are key when a minor is growing up. A minor struggles to find their own independence and find themselves, therefore creating a distance from family relationships and creating new bonds with peers. The youth tend to try to be similar to each other to fit in with the rest, and as a result, children may be pressured into drinking alcohol. When these minors start to drink heavily and frequently, they may develop self esteem issues, depression, disorders, antisocial behavior, and anxiety. This makes underage drinkers more withdrawn from their peers and families than their peers who choose not to drink. Americans questioned whether the government could be trusted. The feeling of betrayal and government secrecy created the Credibility Gap, in which many americans believed that the government no longer was for the people, but for anything else that would benefit the government. The Vietnam War exacerbated the gap between the pro war traditionalists and anti war liberals along with an increase in military action, causing controversy over government spending; as a whole these factors established a sense of distrust between the American government and its people. The Credibility Gap expanded during the Vietnam War causing citizens to question the truthfulness of president Johnson s administration and the reports on events that were occurring overseas in Vietnam. • 53. Essay on Evolution Essay on Evolution There are many mechanisms that lead to evolutionary change. One of the most important mechanism in evolution is natural selection which is the differential success in the reproduction of different phenotypes resulting from the interaction of organisms with their environment. Natural selection occurs when a environment makes a individual adapt to that certain environment by variations that arise by mutation and genetic recombination. Also it favors certain traits in a individual than other traits so that these favored traits will be presented in the next generation. Another mechanism of evolution is genetic drift. Genetic drift is a random change in a small gene pool due to sampling errors in propagation of alleles or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some bacteria had genes that coded for enzymes that specifically destroyed certain antibiotics such as ampicillin. From this incident, scientists were able to deduce that natural selection helped the bacteria to inherit the genes for antibiotic resistance. Scientists have also been able to use biochemistry as a source of evidence. The comparison of genes of two species is the most direct measure of common inheritance from shared ancestors. Using DNA DNA hybridization, whole genomes can be compared by measuring the extent of hydrogen bonding between single stranded DNA obtained from two sources. The similarity of the two genes can be seen by how tightly the DNA of one specie bonds to the DNA of the other specie. Many taxonomic debates have been answered using this method such as whether flamingos are more closely related to storks or geese. This method compared the DNA of the flamingo to be more closely related to the DNA of the stork than the geese. The only disadvantage of this method is that it does not give precise information about the matchup in specific nucleotide sequences of the DNA which restriction mapping does. This technique uses restriction enzymes that recognizes a specific sequence of a few nucleotides and cleaves DNA wherever such sequences are found in the genome. Then the DNA fragments are separated by electrophoresis and compared to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
