Types

The Power of Real-Time: Synchronous
Integration Pattern
● The synchronous approach is used to process messages in the same thread that initially
received the message.
● After the flow receives a message, all processing, including the processing of the response,
is done in that same thread.
● The flow needs to meet the requirements of transactional processing.
● This means that a transactional flow must not hand off processing to other threads, where
errors can occur after the transaction is completed.
● The flow’s inbound endpoint must be notified of all errors that occur during the processing of
the message.

Embracing Delays : Asynchronous Integration
Patterns
● The Asynchronous approach processes the message simultaneously with the parent
message flow.
● This means that you have an activity in the flow that can be processed without
stopping the flow.
● There are some time-consuming operations (printing a file or sending SMTP email)
which don’t have a dependency in further flows.
● To avoid the waiting, we use asynchronous processing.

Used to create, send, receive and read
messages or exchange messages between
different systems.
Some Enterprise applications may have ‘n’
number systems and they exist in different
locations. They use different platforms. If
they want to exchange information in a
loosely coupled manner, then we should
use JMS Messaging system.

Point-to-Point
● One message is delivered to one receiver only. Here, Queue is used
as a message-oriented middleware (MOM).
● The Queue is responsible to hold the message until receiver is ready.
● There is no timing dependency between sender and receiver.

Pub/Sub
● One message is delivered to all the subscribers. It is like
broadcasting. Here, Topic is used as a message-oriented middleware
that is responsible to hold and deliver messages.
● There is timing dependency between publisher and subscriber.

Since Martin Fowler’s article on microservices in the beginning of 2014, there has been a lot of controversy about the topic. Although most articles talk about microservices from an architectural perspective, this session intends to go further and also provide examples of and best practices for building and deploying polyglot applications in an enterprise Java environment. In the session, the build process focuses on efficiency and shows that microservices don’t necessarily cause overhead for a project. Microservices don't imply copying and pasting the same boilerplate code over and over. The deployment process in the presentation is, of course, automated but also demonstrates best practices for integration testing between different active services.

Are you running Tomcat on the Cloud? What can you do to make Tomcat really take advantage of the cloud? In this session we will discuss how to make Tomcat a native cloud runtime - one that is optimized to run "in" the cloud rather than just "on top" of the cloud. First we will look at what is important for any runtime that wants to truly be cloud native: multi-tenancy, self-service, elasticity, metering and billing, dynamic discovery and side-by-side versioning. Then we will explore how to make Tomcat work in this way. Based on experiences making Tomcat run in a cloud environment as part of Stratos, an Open Source project based on Tomcat and OSGi, we will look at the real issues, solutions, as well as exploring future work in this area.

BISSA: Empowering Web gadget Communication with Tuple Spaces

BISSA is a framework that enables communication between web gadgets using a tuple space model. It proposes a global, peer-to-peer based tuple space and an in-browser tuple space that are linked. The global tuple space is highly scalable and reliable, using a DHT for data distribution and indexing to support search queries. The in-browser space provides local and global APIs. Together this allows truly client-side web applications to communicate and store data without backend code. Performance tests on the global space showed good scalability and latency. Several use cases are proposed including coordinated dashboard gadgets, multiplayer games, and social applications.
