Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain Essay
Marcel Duchamp s Fountain by Sarah Shea HUMN406 01 Professor Nelson
Marcel Duchamp s Fountain People often ask what constitutes good art. Who decides whether or
not a piece is art and whether it is good art or not? Marcel Duchamp challenged popular notions
of his day about what art actually is. Duchamp, a French artist living in New York at the turn of
the century, believed that it was up to the artist to determine what art is. Duchamp is most famous
for a type of sculpture he created called readymades 1. Readymades are ordinary functional
household objects that have either been joined to other objects, or chosen to stand alone as
sculpture. Examples of his readymades include a coat hanger nailed to the floor of his studio, a hat

There was much ado over these happenings. Articles appeared in major newspapers regarding it,
but still no one knew who Richard Mutt was. An article also appeared in The Blind Man, an art
journal Duchamp himself published. The anonymous author of the article defended the
Fountain as art and went on to say The only works of art America has given are her plumbing
and her bridges. 3 This was the early 1900 s, so at this time the idea of modern art was still fairly
new. People were starting to get use to it, but were not comfortable enough to be introduced to
something such as Fountain. A bathroom fixture, especially a urinal, was considered too
inappropriate, and was even said to be immoral. In that same article in The Blind Man, the
author defends Fountain on this matter by saying, Now Mr. Mutt s fountain is not immoral, that
is absurd, no more than a bath tub is immoral. It is a fixture that you see every day in plumbers
show windows. This is a very true statement; after all, bathtubs are not considered immoral are
they? However, it being a urinal, and because of its reference to unpleasant bodily functions, it
may seem inappropriate to have to study and examine it for any period of time, like art is suppose
to be studied. This is certainly valid reasoning. Perhaps, however, because the urinal was flipped
onto its back, and called Fountain rather than Urinal , it is divorced from the whole bathroom scene,

Florence Italy Research Paper
Florence, Italy has been visited by millions of tourist each year. what is so fascinating about this
city? Florence is known for their Renaissance art and architecture. It is also where the Italian
Renaissance Movement was given birth. This city displays an art museum throughout the city
streets. ( 10 Top Tourist Attractions in Florence

people decide to visit this beautiful city of Florence, Italy.
A beautiful place to visit in Florence is the Palazzo Pitti. The Palazzo Pitti is a large 15th century

Corner Of Bitter And Sweet
I am going to be reflecting on the book Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet in this essay. I
definitely enjoyed this book because of the story being told and the way it transitions chapter to
chapter between old Henry and young Henry. I also am myself very interested in the World War
2 era in history and it is very interesting to see the war from a Chinese or Japanese Americans
perspective as opposed to an only American perspective. (On page 12) I don t like that Henry s
parents make him speak in only English, especially because Henry s parents don t (for the most
part) know how to speak English. I would understand if Henry s parents made him speak only
English in public, but I think he should be able to speak in Cantonese to his parents.... Show more

I also think the way Henry describes this is great because, in a way it might not be old news, it
might just be that people are not talking about because of fear or sadness because old news is also
something that people don t talk about. Henry woke to the sound of a police cruiser (Page 61) I
don t like that this young boy has to wake up the sound of police sirens. Usually, young boys wake
up to toys or a pet to play with but not Henry today. Even for a boy of Henry s age, it would be
scary to wake up to sirens. I would be scared today at the age of fifteen to wake up to sirens. I ll be
here where am I going to go (Page 164) I think it is very sad that Henry has to see his friend like
this locked up in a cage like an animal or criminal. A twelve year old boy should not have to deal
with such an experience in his young life. In closing, I think the book is awesome and I really
enjoyed reading it. The dialogue was writing amazingly and the characters traits and beliefs were
on key. I also really enjoyed the relationships between Henry and Keiko as well as the relationship
between Henry and his

Summary Of Let The Celebrating Begin
Let the celebrating begin. This book is about a wonderful girl who briefly shared her life with us
and was always ready to take chances. A girl who valued friendships, relationships, and thought
both should be fun and lasting. While she was attending school at Lipscomb University she fell
in love. Not the love she expected, the man that would win her love, but instead her heart was in
missions. She may not have fully realized that yet but her friends observed it. Here are two of
the last posts she made to Facebook. Her mind was completely focused on missions. This first
post is her looking back on the mission to Australia. She went there twice while she was in school
at Lipscomb. The second post is her look forward to her upcoming... Show more content on

So we had a series of conversations after I became her adviser for her senior year. I said to her
that she had to promise me that she will go into public relations, because you re a superstar, you
ve got to do this. Anastasia said, Well you know Miss Ellis, I have a good job at Loveless and I
make a lot of money and I don t know if I can get a job right out of college making this kind of
money. I had more talks with her because I had to ensure that she knew just how good she really
was. Who was Anastasia and why did she make everybody smile? The Journey Begins We all
know that life is a journey. The author C.S. Lewis tells us something about this; There are far,
far better things ahead than any we leave behind. and this is how Anastasia must have viewed
this journey. Going on the World Race was the next big adventure before she chained herself to
work and adulthood after successfully completing college. It was the next big challenge. She
briefly flirted with a couple of other ideas, joining the military or becoming a flight attendant.
However, her biggest adventure was yet to come. Finding out what plans God had for her life
became the priority. What led her to put all of her trust and faith in Him? The Blind Date In the
chilly morning of November 16, 1990, there I was wearing a fringed leather jacket with spiky

The Historical Inquiry Of The Greek World
After 800 B.C, the historical inquiry of the Greek world changed tremendously, as did Greek life
that opened up an intellectual revolution of energy. The sixth century B.C. was the beginning it this
revolution with Thales of Miletus and continued with other philosophers (Breisach, 2007). The New
Greek philosophers pursed the basic substance from which all things known in the universe was
made up of. Historical writing was beginning written as poems by the philosophers. Writing poems
in a historical approach had the philosophers exploring the mystery of the cosmos instead of the
common problems of human existence. The fourth century is when the Sophists discovered that
their attention was connected to the phenomena that dealt with everyday human life. The Greeks
grew more confident in the practical and intellectual mastery of the world and the ways to record it
(Breisach, 2007).
Herodotus and Thucydides had different views on war and their approach to the accounts of the
wars. Both aimed to write historical accounts of the wars they wrote about. Herodotus ended his
cultural history by celebrating his favorite city state Athens along with other Greek city states. In
several ways, Herodotus differed from other historians and mythologist from precedent eras. He
did not completely banish the supernatural from his Histories. His accounts of the Persian Wars he
verbally expressed was mostly due to past events to natural causes (Richard, 2003). Thucydides
focused his works just on

The Dangers Of Animal Rights
Animal Rights Animal Rights isn t something that should be taken lightly. There s animals in
many places that are neglected, and unloved. The most reported cases of abuse is from dogs, cats,
horses, and livestock. Intentional animal cruelty is strongly related with other crimes, including
violence against people(Animal Cruelty Facts and Stats). I have three dogs, two of my dogs are
rescues from situations similar to what you will read in my paper. Why are animals not given the
same rightsas humans? I want to know why people feel the need to hurt animals. I want to
understand why it would even cross their minds to hurt a defenseless animal. I read this from an
article online. I found it shocking, and made me sick to my stomach. Earlier this week, Paul
Rogers from Gloucestershire was jailed for 16 weeks after he admitted that he had microwaved
his pet rabbit. Rogers a man with a history of psychiatric problems claimed he carried out the act
because he was angry at not being prescribed some medication that he said he needed. But what
typically possesses anyone to inflict such acts of intentional animal torture and cruelty? (IATC)
There are many types of IATC including individuals that do it: as a religious ritual sacrifice; as an
artistic sacrifice (e.g. killing animals in films such as the controversial Cannibal Holocaust);
because they have psychological disorders (such as antisocial/psychopathic personality disorders
and engage in deliberate acts of zoosadism),

The Fascination Effects Of Music On The Human Mind
The Fascination Effects of Music on the Human Mind; Framing Intuition and Perception
From ancient times, music has held great importance to cultures all over the world. Music
remains one language that is ever evolving; it refuses to die away. From that day almost 40,000
years ago, one of the first musicians picked up a vulture s bone and decided to make a flute out of
it, till this day, music has held a power that no other language will ever hold. The importance of
music has indeed waxed greater and greater through the centuries. From its use for story telling,
ceremonial purposes, social and religious practices, etc, there has been a great expansion of its
uses. Majority of the masses do not realize this, but music has become an unavoidable part of our
daily lives. With its use in movies, advertisement, shopping centers, elevators, buses, etc, not a day
goes by without each person hearing some kind of music. As its forms have expanded so have its
uses. Its undeniable effects over the human mind have not gone unrecognized by researchers and
scientists. Music is a much more extremely powerful tool than the masses realize, it has the ability
to influence and frame one s decisions, intuition, mood, interpretation and overall perception of
things. It s constant use in advertisement and film sheds a great deal of light on this. With the
countless numbers of research and experiments used to prove this fact, it is no wonder advertisers
and movie makers have capitalized on it.

The Effects Of Violent Television Programs On Children
For many years, there has been an ongoing argument that claims that the violence watched in
television programs has an effect on the type and amount of aggression children display.
Researchers believe there is a correlation between childhood aggression and the degree of violence
they view on television. Additionally, the way parents explain the violencechildren view has a direct
influence on how children interpret and display aggression. The research discussed in this paper
will explore the effects violent television programs play in the development of aggression in
adolescents. The research is based on social learning theory. Anderson and Bushman (2012) define
social learning theory as behavior that is learned through experience or by viewing others actions.
This supports the research which proves that children are learning and displaying the violent actions
they see when watching television programs and learning the violent behavior that they witness.
Various peer reviewed academic journals study the effects of viewing violent television and the
aggression it causes children. These journals review the results found in their studies and the
statistics that explain the correlation that exists between violent television and aggression. It will
also review journals that explain how children mimic the behavior they see. In addition, news
articles are presented that show children s aggressive actions and how they relate to a children
viewing various forms of violent

The Importance Of Micrornas
The microRNAs (miRNAs) are single stranded small, endogenous, non coding regulatory RNA
with size varying ~21 to 24 nucleotides. microRNA mediated gene regulation play an important
role in the negative regulation of gene at post transcriptional level by targeting the mRNAs of
protein coding genes by cleavage or repressing proteintranslation in eukaryotes and viruses (Bartel,
2004). microRNAs are expressed from their own genes located in the intergenic or intragenic
region on the chromosomes (Lagos Quintana et al., 2001). In plants, most miRNA genes are
intergenic and transcribed individually from their own region, but a few genes are organized into
polycistronic transcription units and co transcribed from single promoter at the end of a... Show

The functional genomics studies have shown the involvement of plant miRNAs in many
developmental processes of plant (Jones et al., 2006), response to biotic and biotic stresses,
hormone signalling (Frazier et al., 2011, Jagadeeswaran et al., 2009), signal transduction, protein
degradation (Zhou et al., 2010; Zhang et al., 2008), transgene suppression (Allen et al., 2005),
disease development (Johnson et al., 2005), defense against viruses (Bennasser et al., 2004),
molecular mechanisms regulating developmental transitions, such as seed germination, vegetative
and reproductive phase changes, flowering initiation, seed production and root development (Yang
et al., 2011) and nutrient deprivation and heavy metals (Chen et al., 2012).
Many miRNAs have been identified and investigated extensively in plant species with sequenced
genomes and comparative genome analysis from expressed sequence tag (EST), genome survey
sequences (GSS) and nucleotide sequences. miRNAs are evolutionarily conserved in the plant
kingdom from mosses and ferns to angiosperms (Zhang et al., 2006b). Using this attribute,
identification and prediction of miRNA by sequence analysis has advantage over other methods. It
has been suggested that miRNAs predicted by EST analysis can be recovered by high throughput
deep sequencing (Kwak et ai., 2009).

A Christian At The Age Of 14
Author Information: (see attached resume for additional information) I became a Christian at
the age of 14, partly as a result of being taught evolution in public school. Learning about
evolution made me very unsettled. I reasoned that if evolution were true, then my life was a
result of a series of random accidents and therefore my life had no purpose. I heard a clear
gospel presentation and trusted Christ as my savior as a freshman in high school. Since that
time, I have had an avid interest in the scientific evidence that proves the biblical creation
account true and evolution false. I worked for 35 plus years as a hydrologist with the U.S.
Geological Survey (USGS). Initially, as a research hydrologist studying the quantity and quality
of river water. I later moved into water science management positions and lastly served as an
executive responsible for the all the surface water related activities of the USGS in the U.S.A.
As an executive, I was also designated as the Delaware River Master. As River Master, I
administered the provisions of the 1954 U.S. Supreme Court Decree allocating the waters of the
Delaware River. My career with the USGS has provided me with a wealth of education and
experience in all aspects fresh water related science and science management. During my career
with the USGS, I authored or co authored about 40 scientific and lay reader reports, proceedings
paper, and abstracts. Since becoming a Christian, I have had a keen interest in scientific

Factors That Increase My Dairy Intake
Looking at the above increase list, I decided to increase my portion of vegetables to at least 1.5 cup
by including more variety of veggies to my morning breakfast smoothies and as a side of salad or
steamed veggies at every meal. Vegetables are excellent sources of an array of vitamins especially
brightly colored veggies and dark green veggies. By including more veggies in my diet, I am
essentially helping myself up my intake of vitamins as well, since I am especially low in vitaminA,
vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin D, vitamin E and folate, by increasing consumption of veggies
from different subgroups like brightly colored veggies ( e.g. sweet potatoes, carrots and red
peppers) , dark leafy greens (e.g. kale, collard and spinach) and cruciferous vegetables (e.g.
broccoli, brussels sprouts and cauliflower), which are packed with vitamins like vitamin A,
vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin E and folate. Next on my list, is to
increase my dairy intake by including low fat yogurt and fortified soy milk, for example, 1 cup
of Silk soy milk provides not only vitamin D, but also vitamins A and vitamin B12. This will help
me increase my vitamin D intake, which I was sadly below the recommendation. Also by including
more fatty fish like salmon and tuna in my diet will also help me increase my vitamin D intake.
Another good source of vitamin D intake is the sun, so spending some time early in the mornings
without sunscreen will also help me achieve this goal.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Analysis
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by uncontrollable,
unwanted thoughts and repetitive, ritualized behaviors patients feel compelled to perform. When
people have OCD, they probably recognize their obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors as
irrational, but they are unable to resist them.
The DSM 5 provides clinicians with official definitions of and criteria for diagnosing mental
disorders and dysfunctions. Most people with OCD have both obsessions and compulsions, but
some people experience just one or the other (Criterion A). Obsessions are defined by recurrent and
persistent thoughts, urges, or impulses. These are experienced, as intrusive and unwanted, and in
most individuals cause marked anxiety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Males have an earlier OCD onset age than females and are more likely to have comorbid tic
disorders. Gender differences in the pattern of symptom dimensions have been reported. Females
are more likely to have symptoms focused on cleaning and males more likely to have symptoms
connected to forbidden thoughts and symmetry dimensions.
3.Are there any ethical considerations? For example, are there concerns related to offering
medication versus talk therapy? Even in the presentation of symptoms, or which treatment options
they select?
Getting proper treatment is essential so patients can learn how to take control of their OCD and
gain relief. Getting relief from OCD is possible with Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT),
sometimes in combination with medication. CBT has received broad scientific support as the most
effective behavioral treatment for OCD.
Many adolescents struggle with OCD and Lady Macbeth was typical in this respect. Symptoms of
this disorder may cause great distress, and this is intensified when a person is unwilling to admit
that outside help is necessary. It is important to know that teens should be active participants in
recovery from OCD. They have to be willing to engage in CBT and recognize it as something that
can help them overcome the disorder rather than as one more demand made by their

Malachite Research Paper
Malachite was broken down into small pieces and mixed with charcoal as a fuel in a fire, which
was in a shallow pit or on the ground.
This generated temperatures of over 700 degrees Celsius. This temperature was sufficient in
separating the copper from the rock, however it could not reach a truly molten state.
After a period of time, the reaming copper was gathered.
This copper was then worked cold. Until the development of smelters which could get the copper to
a truly molten state.
This molten copper was then moulded into the desired shape.
The malachite is heated to create copper oxide with the release of carbon dioxide.
The copper oxide is then heated with carbon to get copper

This copper can then be smelted and worked into shape at a molten consistency.
CuCO3xCu(OH)2 в†’ 2 CuO + CO2 + H2O
The copper oxide is heated along with carbon.
2 CuO + C в†’ 2 Cu + CO Cu2CO3(OH)2 2CuO + CO2 + H2O
2CuO + C 2Cu + CO2
Both the modern and ancient way of extracting copper from malachite involves the heating of the
malachite with a form of carbon (pure carbon and Charcoal). The carbon involved is more reactive
than the copper and a displacement reaction occurs, this happens in both methods; however the
ancient method could not see the copper meet a truly molten state for some time, whilst the modern
method can.
The difference between the ancient technique and modern technique to extract copper from
malachite is prominent after the heating stage. The ancient peoples just worked the impure
copper when It was cold after it had been heated, which was very difficult and time consuming.
Whilst the modern peoples go a step further and use electrolysis after it has been heated to form
a near perfectly pure sample of copper. The copper is then smelted so it can be moulded into its
desired shape. The main reason for the difference in technique and result is the technology and
knowledge difference in each time period. The modern people have greater technology and
knowledge and can therefor get a purer sample of

prove that Anne s way was right with the data I have collected. What if you did something bad,
wouldn t you want people to know you are still good? Would you want to be trusted again? It s best
to look for the good in people even when they have done something bad, to let them have a chance
to be good. Nobody was born evil or bad, for example Hitler wasn t born evil, it was his decision.

The Endangered Species Act and The Wildlife Conservation...
When a species is endangered, how are they going to be saved? People, from all over the country,
work together and perform tasks to help wildlife. Endangered means a species is close to
extinction, and it is up to humanity to make the efforts needed to save wildlife from this tragedy.
All it takes is a simple gesture in the right direction, like focusing on special rights that protect
animals from being nonexistent. Many efforts have been made to protect endangered wildlife, such
as, the Endangered SpeciesAct, restoring habitats, and reducing wildlife threats. The purpose of the
Endangered SpeciesAct is to help imperiled species and the ecosystems in which they live. It is
administered by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, and the National Marine Fisheries
Service. That means, that the Endangered Species Act has primary responsibility for terrestrial and
freshwater organisms, as well as all land animals. This law protects the rights of wildlife, so it
assures the protection from poaching, and all forms of hunting. Also, for the purposes of the Act,
Congress defined species to include subspecies, and different varieties (Endangered). Benefits of the
Endangered Species Act include, the protection of wildlife and critical habitats, as well as other
bonuses. It creates jobs for wildlife dependent communities and the communities that support and
sponsor the Act, by exposing ecosystems to new natural resources.
Another benefit is that it protects

Contextual Interpretation Of Religion In Shakespeare s Hamlet
Contextual Interpretations Of Religion
In Shakespeare s Hamlet At the time of Shakespeare s writing The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of
Denmark (hereby referred to as Hamlet), the two most commonly practiced denominations of
Christianity in Europe were Catholicism and Protestantism. Within the play itself, Shakespeare
references the traditions and ideas of both religions freely, creating cause for debate among modern
scholars as to what part, if any, religious context plays in Hamlet. The influence of both religions is
evident; however, as Shakespeare mixes the two, difficulties arise in finding a clear interpretation
of the opposing religious contexts. The idea of Catholicism as the foremost religion in Shakespeare
s Hamlet arises as a direct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time period, Denmark was considered a Protestant (and more specifically, Lutheran)
nation. It has never been made clear whether or not Shakespeare intended to mirror the true to life
Denmark in his work, but the references can be easily inferred. One of the most important pieces of
evidence related to Protestantism in Hamlet is in reference to the University of Wittenberg, which
Hamlet, Horatio, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern attend during the course of the work. Wittenberg,
the city in which their university is located, is widely known as the birthplace of Protestantism and
was made famous in part by Martin Luther s Protestant Reformation and the nailing of the 95
Theses to the door of the All Saints Church. The university itself also has significant ties to
Protestantism; Martin Luther himself was a professor at the University of Wittenberg and it was
during his tenure as Wittenberg s Doctor of Bible that Luther conceived of his famous 95 Theses. In
addition, the University of Wittenberg served as a center of the Protestant Reformation movement
in Europe. Therefore, it can be inferred that during their time at the university, Hamlet and his
acquaintances would likely have been very heavily exposed to and quite possibly even expected to
serve the Protestant

Basketball Story Short Story
Basketball Story It was the biggest basketball game in East Davidson High School history, and it
was coming down to the wire. The starting point guard Corey Shriller, a junior had already
scored 33 points and was looking forward to his first state title, but Saint Thomas High School
was standing in his way and leading by 2 with 24 seconds left on the clock. Saint Thomas had the
ball and Corey was forced to foul. Corey darted towards a Saint Thomas Guard named Noah
Simmons and took him out. The game was already intense but with their tempers flaring the two
guards got into it and the ref was forced to throw them out of the game. Both benches cleared and
the crowd went wild. Both benches had been cleared so the refs signaled for the time to run off,
they would not finish the game and East Davidson had lost. As Corey walked through the narrow
hall towards the locker room he said ВЁNext year will be even better.ВЁ School had been over now
for a few weeks and Corey was visiting his dad in Mexico. When Corey was 10 his parents split up

Future Business Risks
Risks Related to Our Business and Industry
Our limited operating history makes evaluating our business and future prospects difficult, and may
increase the risk of your investment.
You must consider the risks and difficulties we face as an early stage company with a limited
operating history. If we do not successfully address these risks, our business, prospects, operating
results and financial condition will be materially and adversely harmed. We were formed in July
2003. We began delivering our first performance electric vehicle, the Tesla Roadster, in early 2008,
and as of March 31, 2012, we had only sold approximately 2,250 Roadsters to customers, primarily
in the United States and Europe. Our revenues for the three months ... Show more content on

In addition, our powertrain component sales, development services revenue and powertrain
research and development compensation have been almost entirely generated under arrangements
with Daimler AG (Daimler) and Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota). While we have recently
finalized with Daimler the terms for a full electric powertrain program for a vehicle in the
Mercedes line and have executed a supply and services agreement with Toyota related to the Toyota
RAV4EV program, there are no assurances that we will be able to secure future business with
Daimler, Toyota or any of their affiliates.
It is difficult to predict our future revenues and appropriately budget for our expenses, and we
have limited insight into trends that may emerge and affect our business. For example, during
the three months ended March 31, 2012 and the years ended 2011, 2010 and 2009, we recorded
quarterly revenues of as much as $58.2 million and as little as $18.6 million and quarterly
operating losses of as much as $90.6 million and as little as $4.3 million. In the event that actual
results differ from our estimates or we adjust our estimates in future periods, our operating results
and financial position could be materially affected.
In addition, our revenues to date have included amounts we receive from selling zero emission
vehicle (ZEV) and greenhouse gas emission (GHG) credits to other automobile manufacturers,
pursuant to certain state regulations.

Contextual Inquiry
Contextual inquiry is developed by Beyer and Holtzblatt (1988). The data is collected through
contextual inquiry. Contextual inquiry is a qualitative study from various field such as psychology,
anthropology and sociology (Ghasemifard, Shamsi, Kenari, Ahmadi, 2015). Therefore contextual
inquiry method is carried out to assist the cognitive performance among users. The first step taken
is to observe users based on the usability testing methods in their cognitive performance while using
the app. Then questions are asked based on the existing problem discovered and the process taken
by users in completing their task through the app. There are four evaluators that participated in this
study to observe the usability of the application created and at the same time to jot down different
performances that may occur simultaneously in terms of their cognitive actions. According to the
International Organisation for Standardization (1998), the usability testing mode is used to measure
the effectiveness, efficiency, responses (Bastien, 2010) and satisfaction among the users. Usability
testing is carried out to measure the performance of user while using the app. The app is the

My Genocide Class Summary
My Genocide class senior year introduced me to the idea that everything a person does is
selfish. The idea of being construed as selfish creates a defensive feeling in many people, as the
class demonstrated with the introduction of the idea. After this class introduced me to the idea,
it became a strong belief of mine, but is it a fact that nothing we do as a species is completely
selfless? Or did it just appeal to me as a fact as a result of my friend presenting the idea? Or was
it just an obvious explanation for some people s actions? Or was I, as Mooney would say,
rationalizing [my] prior emotional commitments (Made Up Minds, Mooney)? Bacon created a

Innovations of Employee Benefits Essays
The succeeding paragraphs will explain how innovations in employee benefits can improve the
overall competitive compensation strategy of the organization. In order to maintain their
competitive edge, companies need to fully understand that as the needs of their employee s change,
so does their benefit plans. Companies need to find innovative ways of engaging employees that
encourage and support their commitment and improve their performance.
The first way is by helping the company to attract and retain talent. A company is only as good as
its workforce so having an innovative benefit plan will help to attract high potential candidates and
also retain them within the organization. McKeown, J. (2002) states that, Effective retention begins

The third way is to help the company to increase productivity. Employees can tend to lose focus on
their work when they are having issues with their personal life. An innovative benefit plan can
afford employees with the flexibility to handle these issues in order to give the employees more
availability to concentrate on their work. This also causes employees to believe that their company
cares for their overall wellbeing, creating loyalty amongst the employees which will in addition
increases overall productivity, but retention as well.
The fourth way is to help the company increase employee commitment and engagement. In addition
to increasing productivity, companies want to ensure that their employees are committed and
engaged to the organization. This will produce employees that put more effort and take pride even
in the smallest of tasks, employees that are constantly thinking of ways to better improve their
productivity, and employees that motivate and inspire other employees that may have a negative
attitude about the organization.
The fifth way is to help the company to reduce health care costs. The lack of control and
employee has over their own job has been believed to lead to serious health conditions. Employers
are coming to the realization that in order to get a handle on health care issues, they need to take a

HUNTING IN AMERICA FUELING THE GREAT OUTDOORS Hunting is one of America s

been restricted when nescessary. As times have changed, more land bought, and made exclusively
private a need arose to help preserve wildlife resource for general public, through that need and the
efforts of hunter to preserve that access to everyone several legislative actions have been taken to
generate money to fund these efforts. On the national level the first legislation aimed towards
collection of taxes from hunting to fuel conservation and wild life management was the The
Pittman Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act of 1937. States have the most important stake in

The Emperor s New Clothes Essay
Hans Christian Andersen s fable, The Emperor s New Clothes is a prophetic warning for our
generation. He understood 200 years ago how dangerous the contradiction of beliefs may be. In
order to have justice we need truth. Justice, in society today is presented as seemingly the most
important value, a cornerstone of civilization. At the same time people have stopped believing in
absolute truth. In the story, the townspeople decide whether or not they see the emperor s clothes,
just like society attempts to change the understanding of truth from objective to a relative one,
based on individual point of view. The tailors in the fable convince the town that only the wise are

This dramatic change was achieved by a carefully designed campaign using courts, media, and a

The Effect Of Soil On The Soil Formation Of Soil
The soil is a complex mixture of minerals, water, air, organisms and organic matter that are
decaying remains of once living things. The soil is vital in supporting plant life and all forms life.
The soil is not consistent throughout the world because of the way that it is formed and
environmental factors that vary through the process of soilformation.
The factors that play the most important role in the formation of soil are climate, organisms, relief,
parent material and time. These factors form the acronym CLORPT that is used to describe the
processes. Climate includes factors such as temperature and moisture; they are important in
determining the speed of weathering and the decay rate of the organic material. Organisms include
animals that burrow through the soil that affects the permeability and amount of air in the soil.
Other organisms in the soil are bacteria that affect the rate of decay of organic matter. Relief is the
direction and slope of the surface. This factor determines the amount of sunlight and how much
water is kept in the soil. Parent Material influences the chemical characteristics of the soil. For
example, a soil formed from limestone will have higher calcium concentration than soils that are
formed from a parent material with lower calcium than limestone. Time affects soil by how much
time it had to develop. Older soil will be different than younger soil because it has had more time
to breakdown parent material and decay organic matter. CLORPT

How Does Glycolysis Affect Yeast Fermentation
Abstract
Sugars catabolize (break down) through the process of glycolysis. Glycolysis causes the sugar to
undergo fermentation, which yields CO2. In this experiment, different sugar solutions were mixed
with a yeast solution in order to see how fast and if they react to produce CO2. The yeast solution
caused the sugar solutions to undergo glycolysis and produce CO2. Glucose syrup, White sugar,
Artificial
Sweetener all yielded CO2, yet Corn flour did not.
Introduction
The purpose behind this experiment is to identify a correlation between the production of CO2
when yeast is exposed to water and heat. Yeast being fungi requires nutrients (sugar/carbohydrates),
water, heat and oxygen to grow and survive like most other living organism. As a bi product of its
growth the fungi should produce CO2. The experiment involves testing 3 different forms of sugars
and 1 type of flour to show how yeast reacts with each under the correct conditions, then measuring
the amount of gas produced.

our knowledge about Norse Mythology are from the Poetic Edda and the Prose Edda. Edda is
Icelandic for saga and these stories are often to as The Sagas. The Prose Edda was written by
Snorri Sturluson from Iceland around the year 1200. Snorri begins the prologue of the book
where he explains his understanding of the origin of heathen science. Prose Edda itself is based on
belief in the old Nordic gods or heathen, and recounts and explains the faith of men before they

ЊizЙ™m, Л€zЙ™rd / noun 1. The
belief that human beings exist in a purposeless, chaotic universe.
The idea of the absurd is seen in many existentialist works, particularly in the works of Albert
Camus. Absurdity is the notion of contrast between two things. As Camus defines it in The Myth of
Sisyphus:
The absurd is born out of this confrontation between the human need and the unreasonable silence
of the world
This view, which is shared by fellow French philosopher Jean Paul Sartre, is that humanity must
live in a world that is and will forever be hostile or indifferent towards them. The universe will
never truly care for humanity the way we seem to want it to. The atheist view of this statement is
that people create stories, or gods, which in their minds transcend reality to fill this void and attempt
to satisfy their need.

The Perceptions Of Grammar On Grammar
Results To answer RQ1, the perceptions of grammar in speaking from both NS teacher and
NNS students have to be found by analyzing the answers from the interview Q2, Q4 and Q5. The
results show that, in terms of the perceptions towards grammar in speaking, NS teacher do differ
from NNS students. NS teacher s answer shows that grammar was very important in speaking,
during the interview, when she was asked about Q4, she said: ...You speak with few repeated

Patterns errors for example, Chinese people always leave out articles, or always messing up

occasionally, but not always. And tense, they have a good grasp of the tense. For example. When

English with lots of grammar mistakes, that s not perfect English. So if the accuracy of the

George Zimmerman had previous experiences with watching the neighborhood in the prior months

Red Imagery In Macbeth
Imagery is defined as visually descriptive or figurative language, especially in a literary work.
William Shakespeare is notorious for using strong metaphors in his work to create vivid images in
readers minds, especially in his play Macbeth. Using such examples sets a dark tone for the story
and allows readers to form their own mental interpretation. In the play, imagery is prevalent through
references to blood, animals, clothing, and nighttime, symbolising darkness. Whether these themes
are shown through characters actions, speech, or just implied thoughts, they are present and
plentiful. The color red is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, passion, love, and
most notably, blood. In Macbeth, there is real bloodshed from death, but it is also as a symbol for
harsh deeds. Shakespeare uses sharp blood red imagery because it is easy to visualize for
readers since they are so familiar with the color. One of the boldest references in the play occurs
in Act II, scene II when Lady Macbeth replies to Macbeth s admission of guilt. Here, she also
admits to having blood on her hands, and the stain which later comes back to haunt her is
revealed. Her line My hands are of your color but I shame to wear a heart so white. strongly
portrays imagery because the reader can see the defined line between white, purity, and red, sin.
The line comes off as Lady Macbeth s first real cry for help, and readers can see her begin to
crumble. Although their hands are not

damage, hazards that affected its works and issue due to business practices (Thome, Ferrell,
Ferrell, 2011). On April 20, 2010 the BP oil spill was the worst in U.S. history. There was a
terrible explosion and the sinking to the Deepwater Horizon oil rig. The explosion happened in
the Gulf of Mexico killing 11 people (Urbina, 2010). At the time of the explosion BP was leasing
the rig and 79 of the 126 employees on board the rig. Many reports focused on safety of the rig
was conducted. Two investigators were dispatched to conduct reports on what happen that day
on the rig. One report focused on safety culture they conducted one on one interview with 40 of
the employees. The second report was on the status of the rig s equipment. One of the reports
described the concerns of the workers and who they felt about safety and fears. According to a
spokesman for Transocean the 26 components on the rig that were said to be found in poor
condition were actually minor, and that they had been inspected in the correct time frame by the
original manufacturer. It was found that BP s pipe was leaking oil and gas onto the ocean floor.
The leak was reported to be about 42 miles of the cost of Louisiana which was capped off

Nuclear Power Supplies A Significant Part Of Current...
MOX Title
Background:
Nuclear power supplies a significant portion of current energy demands. One of the newer
advances in nuclear fuel is Mixed Oxide (MOX) fuel. MOX is a mixture of UO2 and PuO2.
Both of these starting materials can be recovered from spent traditional nuclear fuel [1]. As such,
MOX provides a method for reducing waste generated during the operation of a nuclear reactor.
MOX fuel is currently in use in Europe, Russia and Japan [2]. The United States is in the process
of developing next generation nuclear reactors which can employ MOX. Due to the importance of
MOX fuel, important research is currently being to both understand the principles governing MOX,
and how to enhance its performance. MOX fuel is comprised of UO2 and PuO2. The UO2 is
acquired either from naturally occurring uranium oxide, or recovered from the spent fuel of a
traditional nuclear reactor. Plutonium metal is produced by the U 238 during operation of the
nuclear reactor [1]. The Pu must then be converted to PuO2. The first step in producing PuO2 is
to dissolve the recovered Pu in HNO3 HF to get Pu(NO3)4. Once the Pu(NO3)4 is generated, a
few different methods can be used to acquire PuO2. The most commercially used method involves
the precipitation of plutonium oxalate. The Pu(NO3)4 is conditioned with hydrogen peroxide to
produce Pu(lV). Next, an excess of oxalic acid is added to reduce the solubility. The oxalate is
then left to decompose to oxide which can then be filtered and dried

Developing A Schedule. Where Do You Begin To Prepare Your
Developing a schedule
Where do you begin to prepare your advertising schedule? The best point of reference is the
creative or advertising brief. Here, you will be given a direction on how long the campaign should
run for, when it should begin and when it should end, along with other relevant information. You
may choose to run it over days, weeks, months or even years.
Regardless of which option you select, the length and timing of the campaign will be determined by
the targets set by the original brief and the budget.
If there is any doubt about how long the campaign should run for, it is best to go back to the team
that created the original brief and seek clarification.
The next step in developing the schedule is to ensure that your ... Show more content on

The account executive debriefs the art director and copywriter, who then direct the assembly of the
ad. This may require a fashion shoot by a reputable fashion photographer, a model, make up artist,
wardrobe artist, props, and lighting assistants.
The finished artwork is assembled digitally in the digital studio by a graphic designer, under the
direction of the art director. Once the ad is completed and proofed, it goes back to the client for
final approval and sign off. The production department sends the approved ad directly to the
magazine, electronically, to their production department.
The double page ad appears in the December edition of the magazine.
As shown in the example above, there are a lot of moving parts to producing a simple ad. With so
many moving parts, there are a number of opportunities for things to go wrong or fall behind
schedule, this is why proper planning and scheduling, along with constant follow up with each of
the people involved in the process, is critical to the success of any advertising campaign.
Identifying relevant service providers
Which service providers will you need to achieve your advertising objectives? This will depend on
the type of campaign you are running and the media you select. As we saw in the previous section,
service providers may include:

в—Џmedia planning/buying agencies

The Pros And Cons Of Gun Shootings
The latest mass shootings in aurora, colorado and newtown connecticut leave us all liberal and
conservative, republican and democrat appalled and disgusted at the carnage now some people
want to place the blame for this horror on things like 30 round magazines or semi automatic
rifles. we want to blame something anything we can control, but what we really want to ban is
violence and murder and insanity and we dont talk about that though because deep in our hearts
each of us knows that violence and murder and insanity are built into the human condition and
likely always will be you know there are 2 kinds of animals in this world, no one watches a
leopard chase down a gazelle and denies that the gazelle has a right to use its hooves and horns
to protect itself from the predator but there are people all around the country who deny that
same right to self defense to other human beings such people seem to think that the way to stop
the leopard is to cut the horns off the gazelle, that by somehow making it easier the predator the
predator will simply go away my friends this is insane. When you make it easier for the predator
you get more predators. So lets start with the so called assault weapons more properly known as
semi automatic rifles, in 2011 the total firearm murders came to 8,583 according to the FBI. Now
during that time the total murders committed by rifles alright, not just semi automatic rifles, were

Digital Pedagogy Essay
Currently we live in an era driven by information, global competition and new technologies that
are changing the way we think, live and work. (Pillay, Boulton Lewis Wilss 2004, p.17). This
conveys the notion that technology has manipulated the minds of today s generation in every way
possible, could be during schooling and non schooling life. Hence in order for one s teaching style
to go successful one should teach in accordance to the characteristics of the generation they re
teaching as today s generation requires a digital pedagogy. Furthermore this essay scrutinizes how
the characteristics of the 21st century and the digital world will influence the type of teacher one
hopes to become. As well as it examines on the construction of skill development towards students
from the trending of digital fluency.
Technology today is the fundamental enhancement of teaching and education towards students
including collaborative learning. Many educators would approve that a vigorous display of student
triumph is the students ability to advance both skills and an interest in durable education. A teacher
s style of teaching regarding educational experience and environment could have a vast effect on
their student s education. However technology has emerged as the foundation regarding stronger
education, therefore numerous students going to college or university have already possessed
progressive skills concerning electronic learning as they ve practiced and learnt from a fledgling

My Undergraduate Work At California Polytechnic State...
I chose to do my undergraduate work at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis
Obispo. Cal Poly was affordable, strong in the sciences and well known for its Learn by Doing
philosophy. I received a phenomenal education in science and nutrition helping me feel prepared to
begin graduate studies in advanced practice nursing. Prior to Cal Poly, I planned a career in
nursing, ultimately deciding that studying nutrition at Cal Poly could provide an excellent
foundation. I found nutrition fascinating. During my maternal and child nutrition course my
passion surrounding the health and wellness of women, particularly during pregnancy, solidified. I
began finding ways to supplement my learning in this direction. As a research assistant for a
pediatric nurse practitioner, I sat in on breastfeeding support groups, consultations and researched
topics of concern for new mothers. Some women had been advised to avoid certain foods while
breastfeeding in order to prevent and treat colic symptoms. As a nutrition major, I am interested in
diet modifications as therapies but also aware of the challenges women are facing to meet the
current breastfeeding recommendations. Worried dietary exclusions may not be evidence based
and could contribute to breastfeeding avoidance, I began researching to find the answers. With the
support of my senior project advisor, Dr. Swadener, I dug into the clinic trials. I found some success
in treating infantile colic with a maternal hypoallergenic

They mostly focused on grammar and basic math; this was actually based on concepts of
mandatory school for children that were founded in Europe by Martin Luther. In the U.S., there
was also the concern of children forced into the workforce too early in the factories.
However, the educational system has changed to make it harder to receive an education almost
as much as it has changed to make an education more accessible. Recent skyrockets in tuition
have made paying for college a challenge. Even families in the middle class with six digit
incomes find it nearly impossible to pay for four years of college (What s the Price Tag). This
problem is compounded when families expect multiple children to attend college. America s
school system, especially at the tertiary level, needs to be improved in order for students to
receive the education they deserve for the tuition they pay. Education is not the only thing that is
changing; the job market is also undergoing major changes. Jobs in today s world are requiring a
higher level of education. Colleges have yet to adapt their educations to include the necessary
criteria that the job market requires. At the same time, college courses are being offered to amuse

At the end of the novel the house goes u in flames and is destroyed much like how the idea the

Beowulf Speeches
Welcome everyone and thank you all for coming. As you all may know I am the use to be King of
the Geats, Hrothgar. Today we should not be said for the lost of Beowulf for he had accomplished
many things in his life, instead we celebrated these accomplishments and rejoice in the bravery,
wisdom, and strength he had shown throughout his life. My greatest memory I have with Beowulf
was the time that my kingdome was in great trouble and panic over this great monster named
Grendel. Grendel had started to use fear and death to rule over the people of my country. He
would come, stalk, and kill some of the toughest and greatest of soldiers, but with the help and
strength of Beowulf, we were able to restore the peace of my land. After the defeat of Grendel, I
knew that he was for sure the son that I never had the chance to have. I called him over and
asked if he would be my son. I knew from that day on that there was nothing he would do to
dishonor me or himself. I have never been prouder of anyone in my life. More in depth, there
were prominent characteristics that made Beowulf who he was. Overall, his greatest strength that
he had was his bravery. He was one of the bravest soldiers that has lived. First of all, I always...

Without the wisdom it could be said Beowulf would have no bravery. The one time that I recall
that Beowulf s wisdom stood out the most was the time that he planned out how to defeat
Grendel. Beowulf looked from different aspects and perspectives to devise a plan cleaver enough
to win. He decided that instead of going to Grendel s cave to win, he would lure Grendel to come
to him giving himself a greater advantage. This way, Beowulf would know the surroundings
therefore Grendel would be the one that had to face the surprises and unplanned challenges. The
definition of wisdom greatly identifies with Beowulf: wisdom is the quality of having experience,
knowledge, and good

The Mystery Of Liars By Nancy Farmer
Ever since we were young we were shunned away from telling lies and were taught that it was
wrong. Why is it that lying was immoral, but then as we grow up we drift away from that lesson?
Many can say that we are cowards who hide behind our lies. Today there exist a white lie which
states that you are telling a lieto help someone. Why do we teach our kids that lying is bad when
adults lie all the time? In the quote Nancy Farmer compares the liars to rats who are cowards
that hides and runs around in dark places because looking at the word lying it can gives off a
vibe of a dark and lonely place. Just like rats who runs and hides in dark places, liars are basically
hiding behind the shadows and living alone in their lie. From the quote I agree and disagree
with the quote, where I agreed with the quote that liars are basically rats who hides and run from
the truth, they don t care if it s unpleasant to others and see lying as an escape route from trouble.
Where I disagree is they can t be called cowards because they might be telling a white lie and
instead of being unpleasant, it can actually help the person that is receiving the lie.
Getting told a lie is a very unpleasant feeling for some while for others. They have a stronger
mentality and can withstand being told a lie. Personally in my opinion, being told a lie makes one
feel as if they can t trust the person anymore due to the fact that they are hiding something. For the
person receiving the lie it is much more

age of sixteen, and many of these youth will go on to develop Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a
result of their trauma (Silverman, Oritz, Viswesvaran, Burns, Kulko, Putnam, Amaya Jackson,
2008). Children and adolescents with PTSD can benefit from a mixture of the Cognitive and

The emergence of research dedicated to TF CBT and its focus removes a significant amount of
ambiguity from the prescription of treatment. Due to the overwhelming positive response in
research, clinicians now can confidently recommend TF CBT and prevent further suffering within
patients. Also, completing additional research in this area could lead to even more efficient and
helpful methods of treatment. For young people who experienced trauma, this interactive treatment
method can bring about progressive changes in their behavior and their thoughts, which can help to
eradicate PTSD over the course of treatment as well as the time that follows it. References

Lee De Forest, who exhibited brief sound films to the public in 1923, pioneered both of these

it included short talking and musical films and a silent feature, Don Juan , with a synchronized

had to be enclosed in soundproof boxes that were difficult to move. Eventually cameras with
noiseless gears were developed; microphones were put on booms, or poles, which could be

  • 2. Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain Essay Marcel Duchamp s Fountain by Sarah Shea HUMN406 01 Professor Nelson Marcel Duchamp s Fountain People often ask what constitutes good art. Who decides whether or not a piece is art and whether it is good art or not? Marcel Duchamp challenged popular notions of his day about what art actually is. Duchamp, a French artist living in New York at the turn of the century, believed that it was up to the artist to determine what art is. Duchamp is most famous for a type of sculpture he created called readymades 1. Readymades are ordinary functional household objects that have either been joined to other objects, or chosen to stand alone as sculpture. Examples of his readymades include a coat hanger nailed to the floor of his studio, a hat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was much ado over these happenings. Articles appeared in major newspapers regarding it, but still no one knew who Richard Mutt was. An article also appeared in The Blind Man, an art journal Duchamp himself published. The anonymous author of the article defended the Fountain as art and went on to say The only works of art America has given are her plumbing and her bridges. 3 This was the early 1900 s, so at this time the idea of modern art was still fairly new. People were starting to get use to it, but were not comfortable enough to be introduced to something such as Fountain. A bathroom fixture, especially a urinal, was considered too inappropriate, and was even said to be immoral. In that same article in The Blind Man, the author defends Fountain on this matter by saying, Now Mr. Mutt s fountain is not immoral, that is absurd, no more than a bath tub is immoral. It is a fixture that you see every day in plumbers show windows. This is a very true statement; after all, bathtubs are not considered immoral are they? However, it being a urinal, and because of its reference to unpleasant bodily functions, it may seem inappropriate to have to study and examine it for any period of time, like art is suppose to be studied. This is certainly valid reasoning. Perhaps, however, because the urinal was flipped onto its back, and called Fountain rather than Urinal , it is divorced from the whole bathroom scene, 3 Marcel Duchamp himself most ... • 3. Florence Italy Research Paper Florence, Italy has been visited by millions of tourist each year. what is so fascinating about this city? Florence is known for their Renaissance art and architecture. It is also where the Italian Renaissance Movement was given birth. This city displays an art museum throughout the city streets. ( 10 Top Tourist Attractions in Florence . ) There are many interesting places to visit when people decide to visit this beautiful city of Florence, Italy. A beautiful place to visit in Florence is the Palazzo Pitti. The Palazzo Pitti is a large 15th century palace situated on the quieter south bank of the Arno river The palace was long the residence of Florence s rulers until 1919, when it was handed over to the Italian state, which transformed ... • 4. Corner Of Bitter And Sweet I am going to be reflecting on the book Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet in this essay. I definitely enjoyed this book because of the story being told and the way it transitions chapter to chapter between old Henry and young Henry. I also am myself very interested in the World War 2 era in history and it is very interesting to see the war from a Chinese or Japanese Americans perspective as opposed to an only American perspective. (On page 12) I don t like that Henry s parents make him speak in only English, especially because Henry s parents don t (for the most part) know how to speak English. I would understand if Henry s parents made him speak only English in public, but I think he should be able to speak in Cantonese to his parents.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I also think the way Henry describes this is great because, in a way it might not be old news, it might just be that people are not talking about because of fear or sadness because old news is also something that people don t talk about. Henry woke to the sound of a police cruiser (Page 61) I don t like that this young boy has to wake up the sound of police sirens. Usually, young boys wake up to toys or a pet to play with but not Henry today. Even for a boy of Henry s age, it would be scary to wake up to sirens. I would be scared today at the age of fifteen to wake up to sirens. I ll be here where am I going to go (Page 164) I think it is very sad that Henry has to see his friend like this locked up in a cage like an animal or criminal. A twelve year old boy should not have to deal with such an experience in his young life. In closing, I think the book is awesome and I really enjoyed reading it. The dialogue was writing amazingly and the characters traits and beliefs were on key. I also really enjoyed the relationships between Henry and Keiko as well as the relationship between Henry and his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Summary Of Let The Celebrating Begin Let the celebrating begin. This book is about a wonderful girl who briefly shared her life with us and was always ready to take chances. A girl who valued friendships, relationships, and thought both should be fun and lasting. While she was attending school at Lipscomb University she fell in love. Not the love she expected, the man that would win her love, but instead her heart was in missions. She may not have fully realized that yet but her friends observed it. Here are two of the last posts she made to Facebook. Her mind was completely focused on missions. This first post is her looking back on the mission to Australia. She went there twice while she was in school at Lipscomb. The second post is her look forward to her upcoming... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So we had a series of conversations after I became her adviser for her senior year. I said to her that she had to promise me that she will go into public relations, because you re a superstar, you ve got to do this. Anastasia said, Well you know Miss Ellis, I have a good job at Loveless and I make a lot of money and I don t know if I can get a job right out of college making this kind of money. I had more talks with her because I had to ensure that she knew just how good she really was. Who was Anastasia and why did she make everybody smile? The Journey Begins We all know that life is a journey. The author C.S. Lewis tells us something about this; There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind. and this is how Anastasia must have viewed this journey. Going on the World Race was the next big adventure before she chained herself to work and adulthood after successfully completing college. It was the next big challenge. She briefly flirted with a couple of other ideas, joining the military or becoming a flight attendant. However, her biggest adventure was yet to come. Finding out what plans God had for her life became the priority. What led her to put all of her trust and faith in Him? The Blind Date In the chilly morning of November 16, 1990, there I was wearing a fringed leather jacket with spiky studs covering the shoulders and back stood outside Baptist Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee. • 6. The Historical Inquiry Of The Greek World After 800 B.C, the historical inquiry of the Greek world changed tremendously, as did Greek life that opened up an intellectual revolution of energy. The sixth century B.C. was the beginning it this revolution with Thales of Miletus and continued with other philosophers (Breisach, 2007). The New Greek philosophers pursed the basic substance from which all things known in the universe was made up of. Historical writing was beginning written as poems by the philosophers. Writing poems in a historical approach had the philosophers exploring the mystery of the cosmos instead of the common problems of human existence. The fourth century is when the Sophists discovered that their attention was connected to the phenomena that dealt with everyday human life. The Greeks grew more confident in the practical and intellectual mastery of the world and the ways to record it (Breisach, 2007). Herodotus and Thucydides had different views on war and their approach to the accounts of the wars. Both aimed to write historical accounts of the wars they wrote about. Herodotus ended his cultural history by celebrating his favorite city state Athens along with other Greek city states. In several ways, Herodotus differed from other historians and mythologist from precedent eras. He did not completely banish the supernatural from his Histories. His accounts of the Persian Wars he verbally expressed was mostly due to past events to natural causes (Richard, 2003). Thucydides focused his works just on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Dangers Of Animal Rights Animal Rights Animal Rights isn t something that should be taken lightly. There s animals in many places that are neglected, and unloved. The most reported cases of abuse is from dogs, cats, horses, and livestock. Intentional animal cruelty is strongly related with other crimes, including violence against people(Animal Cruelty Facts and Stats). I have three dogs, two of my dogs are rescues from situations similar to what you will read in my paper. Why are animals not given the same rightsas humans? I want to know why people feel the need to hurt animals. I want to understand why it would even cross their minds to hurt a defenseless animal. I read this from an article online. I found it shocking, and made me sick to my stomach. Earlier this week, Paul Rogers from Gloucestershire was jailed for 16 weeks after he admitted that he had microwaved his pet rabbit. Rogers a man with a history of psychiatric problems claimed he carried out the act because he was angry at not being prescribed some medication that he said he needed. But what typically possesses anyone to inflict such acts of intentional animal torture and cruelty? (IATC) There are many types of IATC including individuals that do it: as a religious ritual sacrifice; as an artistic sacrifice (e.g. killing animals in films such as the controversial Cannibal Holocaust); because they have psychological disorders (such as antisocial/psychopathic personality disorders and engage in deliberate acts of zoosadism), ... • 8. The Fascination Effects Of Music On The Human Mind The Fascination Effects of Music on the Human Mind; Framing Intuition and Perception From ancient times, music has held great importance to cultures all over the world. Music remains one language that is ever evolving; it refuses to die away. From that day almost 40,000 years ago, one of the first musicians picked up a vulture s bone and decided to make a flute out of it, till this day, music has held a power that no other language will ever hold. The importance of music has indeed waxed greater and greater through the centuries. From its use for story telling, ceremonial purposes, social and religious practices, etc, there has been a great expansion of its uses. Majority of the masses do not realize this, but music has become an unavoidable part of our daily lives. With its use in movies, advertisement, shopping centers, elevators, buses, etc, not a day goes by without each person hearing some kind of music. As its forms have expanded so have its uses. Its undeniable effects over the human mind have not gone unrecognized by researchers and scientists. Music is a much more extremely powerful tool than the masses realize, it has the ability to influence and frame one s decisions, intuition, mood, interpretation and overall perception of things. It s constant use in advertisement and film sheds a great deal of light on this. With the countless numbers of research and experiments used to prove this fact, it is no wonder advertisers and movie makers have capitalized on it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Effects Of Violent Television Programs On Children For many years, there has been an ongoing argument that claims that the violence watched in television programs has an effect on the type and amount of aggression children display. Researchers believe there is a correlation between childhood aggression and the degree of violence they view on television. Additionally, the way parents explain the violencechildren view has a direct influence on how children interpret and display aggression. The research discussed in this paper will explore the effects violent television programs play in the development of aggression in adolescents. The research is based on social learning theory. Anderson and Bushman (2012) define social learning theory as behavior that is learned through experience or by viewing others actions. This supports the research which proves that children are learning and displaying the violent actions they see when watching television programs and learning the violent behavior that they witness. Various peer reviewed academic journals study the effects of viewing violent television and the aggression it causes children. These journals review the results found in their studies and the statistics that explain the correlation that exists between violent television and aggression. It will also review journals that explain how children mimic the behavior they see. In addition, news articles are presented that show children s aggressive actions and how they relate to a children viewing various forms of violent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Importance Of Micrornas The microRNAs (miRNAs) are single stranded small, endogenous, non coding regulatory RNA with size varying ~21 to 24 nucleotides. microRNA mediated gene regulation play an important role in the negative regulation of gene at post transcriptional level by targeting the mRNAs of protein coding genes by cleavage or repressing proteintranslation in eukaryotes and viruses (Bartel, 2004). microRNAs are expressed from their own genes located in the intergenic or intragenic region on the chromosomes (Lagos Quintana et al., 2001). In plants, most miRNA genes are intergenic and transcribed individually from their own region, but a few genes are organized into polycistronic transcription units and co transcribed from single promoter at the end of a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The functional genomics studies have shown the involvement of plant miRNAs in many developmental processes of plant (Jones et al., 2006), response to biotic and biotic stresses, hormone signalling (Frazier et al., 2011, Jagadeeswaran et al., 2009), signal transduction, protein degradation (Zhou et al., 2010; Zhang et al., 2008), transgene suppression (Allen et al., 2005), disease development (Johnson et al., 2005), defense against viruses (Bennasser et al., 2004), molecular mechanisms regulating developmental transitions, such as seed germination, vegetative and reproductive phase changes, flowering initiation, seed production and root development (Yang et al., 2011) and nutrient deprivation and heavy metals (Chen et al., 2012). Many miRNAs have been identified and investigated extensively in plant species with sequenced genomes and comparative genome analysis from expressed sequence tag (EST), genome survey sequences (GSS) and nucleotide sequences. miRNAs are evolutionarily conserved in the plant kingdom from mosses and ferns to angiosperms (Zhang et al., 2006b). Using this attribute, identification and prediction of miRNA by sequence analysis has advantage over other methods. It has been suggested that miRNAs predicted by EST analysis can be recovered by high throughput deep sequencing (Kwak et ai., 2009). • 11. A Christian At The Age Of 14 Author Information: (see attached resume for additional information) I became a Christian at the age of 14, partly as a result of being taught evolution in public school. Learning about evolution made me very unsettled. I reasoned that if evolution were true, then my life was a result of a series of random accidents and therefore my life had no purpose. I heard a clear gospel presentation and trusted Christ as my savior as a freshman in high school. Since that time, I have had an avid interest in the scientific evidence that proves the biblical creation account true and evolution false. I worked for 35 plus years as a hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Initially, as a research hydrologist studying the quantity and quality of river water. I later moved into water science management positions and lastly served as an executive responsible for the all the surface water related activities of the USGS in the U.S.A. As an executive, I was also designated as the Delaware River Master. As River Master, I administered the provisions of the 1954 U.S. Supreme Court Decree allocating the waters of the Delaware River. My career with the USGS has provided me with a wealth of education and experience in all aspects fresh water related science and science management. During my career with the USGS, I authored or co authored about 40 scientific and lay reader reports, proceedings paper, and abstracts. Vegetables are excellent sources of an array of vitamins especially brightly colored veggies and dark green veggies. By including more veggies in my diet, I am essentially helping myself up my intake of vitamins as well, since I am especially low in vitaminA, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin D, vitamin E and folate, by increasing consumption of veggies from different subgroups like brightly colored veggies ( e.g. sweet potatoes, carrots and red peppers) , dark leafy greens (e.g. kale, collard and spinach) and cruciferous vegetables (e.g. broccoli, brussels sprouts and cauliflower), which are packed with vitamins like vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin E and folate. Next on my list, is to increase my dairy intake by including low fat yogurt and fortified soy milk, for example, 1 cup of Silk soy milk provides not only vitamin D, but also vitamins A and vitamin B12. This will help me increase my vitamin D intake, which I was sadly below the recommendation. Also by including more fatty fish like salmon and tuna in my diet will also help me increase my vitamin D intake. Another good source of vitamin D intake is the sun, so spending some time early in the mornings without sunscreen will also help me achieve this goal. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Analysis Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by uncontrollable, unwanted thoughts and repetitive, ritualized behaviors patients feel compelled to perform. When people have OCD, they probably recognize their obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors as irrational, but they are unable to resist them. The DSM 5 provides clinicians with official definitions of and criteria for diagnosing mental disorders and dysfunctions. Most people with OCD have both obsessions and compulsions, but some people experience just one or the other (Criterion A). Obsessions are defined by recurrent and persistent thoughts, urges, or impulses. These are experienced, as intrusive and unwanted, and in most individuals cause marked anxiety ... The difference between the ancient technique and modern technique to extract copper from malachite is prominent after the heating stage. The ancient peoples just worked the impure copper when It was cold after it had been heated, which was very difficult and time consuming. Whilst the modern peoples go a step further and use electrolysis after it has been heated to form a near perfectly pure sample of copper. People, from all over the country, work together and perform tasks to help wildlife. Endangered means a species is close to extinction, and it is up to humanity to make the efforts needed to save wildlife from this tragedy. All it takes is a simple gesture in the right direction, like focusing on special rights that protect animals from being nonexistent. The soil is vital in supporting plant life and all forms life. The soil is not consistent throughout the world because of the way that it is formed and environmental factors that vary through the process of soilformation. The factors that play the most important role in the formation of soil are climate, organisms, relief, parent material and time. These factors form the acronym CLORPT that is used to describe the processes. Climate includes factors such as temperature and moisture; they are important in determining the speed of weathering and the decay rate of the organic material. Organisms include animals that burrow through the soil that affects the permeability and amount of air in the soil. Other organisms in the soil are bacteria that affect the rate of decay of organic matter. Relief is the direction and slope of the surface. This factor determines the amount of sunlight and how much water is kept in the soil. Parent Material influences the chemical characteristics of the soil. For example, a soil formed from limestone will have higher calcium concentration than soils that are formed from a parent material with lower calcium than limestone. Time affects soil by how much time it had to develop. Older soil will be different than younger soil because it has had more time to breakdown parent material and decay organic matter. CLORPT ... The idea of the absurd is seen in many existentialist works, particularly in the works of Albert Camus. Absurdity is the notion of contrast between two things. As Camus defines it in The Myth of Sisyphus: The absurd is born out of this confrontation between the human need and the unreasonable silence of the world This view, which is shared by fellow French philosopher Jean Paul Sartre, is that humanity must live in a world that is and will forever be hostile or indifferent towards them. • 39. Red Imagery In Macbeth Imagery is defined as visually descriptive or figurative language, especially in a literary work. William Shakespeare is notorious for using strong metaphors in his work to create vivid images in readers minds, especially in his play Macbeth. Using such examples sets a dark tone for the story and allows readers to form their own mental interpretation. In the play, imagery is prevalent through references to blood, animals, clothing, and nighttime, symbolising darkness. Whether these themes are shown through characters actions, speech, or just implied thoughts, they are present and plentiful. The color red is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, passion, love, and most notably, blood. In Macbeth, there is real bloodshed from death, but it is also as a symbol for harsh deeds. Shakespeare uses sharp blood red imagery because it is easy to visualize for readers since they are so familiar with the color. One of the boldest references in the play occurs in Act II, scene II when Lady Macbeth replies to Macbeth s admission of guilt. Here, she also admits to having blood on her hands, and the stain which later comes back to haunt her is revealed. Her line My hands are of your color but I shame to wear a heart so white. strongly portrays imagery because the reader can see the defined line between white, purity, and red, sin. • 41. Nuclear Power Supplies A Significant Part Of Current... MOX Title Background: Nuclear power supplies a significant portion of current energy demands. One of the newer advances in nuclear fuel is Mixed Oxide (MOX) fuel. MOX is a mixture of UO2 and PuO2. Both of these starting materials can be recovered from spent traditional nuclear fuel [1]. As such, MOX provides a method for reducing waste generated during the operation of a nuclear reactor. MOX fuel is currently in use in Europe, Russia and Japan [2]. The United States is in the process of developing next generation nuclear reactors which can employ MOX. Due to the importance of MOX fuel, important research is currently being to both understand the principles governing MOX, and how to enhance its performance. MOX fuel is comprised of UO2 and PuO2. The UO2 is acquired either from naturally occurring uranium oxide, or recovered from the spent fuel of a traditional nuclear reactor. Plutonium metal is produced by the U 238 during operation of the nuclear reactor [1]. The Pu must then be converted to PuO2. The first step in producing PuO2 is to dissolve the recovered Pu in HNO3 HF to get Pu(NO3)4. Once the Pu(NO3)4 is generated, a few different methods can be used to acquire PuO2. The most commercially used method involves the precipitation of plutonium oxalate. The Pu(NO3)4 is conditioned with hydrogen peroxide to produce Pu(lV). Next, an excess of oxalic acid is added to reduce the solubility. The oxalate is then left to decompose to oxide which can then be filtered and dried ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the quote Nancy Farmer compares the liars to rats who are cowards that hides and runs around in dark places because looking at the word lying it can gives off a vibe of a dark and lonely place. Just like rats who runs and hides in dark places, liars are basically hiding behind the shadows and living alone in their lie. Due to the overwhelming positive response in research, clinicians now can confidently recommend TF CBT and prevent further suffering within patients. Also, completing additional research in this area could lead to even more efficient and helpful methods of treatment. For young people who experienced trauma, this interactive treatment method can bring about progressive changes in their behavior and their thoughts, which can help to eradicate PTSD over the course of treatment as well as the time that follows it. Public acceptance of sound came on Oct. 6, 1927, when Warner Brothers presented Al Jolson singing and saying a few words in The Jazz Singer . The first full length all sound film was The Lights of New York , issued by Warner Brothers in 1928. The success of sound revolutionized the film industry. Theaters had to install sound projection equipment, and film studios had to find methods of soundproofing cameras and stages.
