Social media influencers (SMIs) can be defined as a new type of independent players who shape audience attitudes through the use of social media channels in competition and coexistence with professional media. SMIs can be identified by their high-ranking position in a network as the most important or central nodes; a position that allows them to exert a growing influence in shaping social perceptions of organizations and brands. Although existing studies have identified the ideal characteristics of CEOs and spokespersons in their relations with mass media, as well as the key psychological characteristics of SMIs in relation to their audiences, there are currently no studies that identify SMIs in social media using Social Network Analysis (SNA). SNA has been recognized as a powerful tool for representing social network structures and understanding models for information dissemination. This study presents a social media network analysis (SMNA) on Twitter of a global brand. The results reveal the existence of three types of SMIs. This methodology permits the optimization of public relations, marketing and communications efforts to create effective outreach strategies.

In our modern, interconnected world, people of all ages are faced with how to navigate tech usage in their daily lives. Media use is changing how people interact and this is of great concern. Theory shows that the reason behind use media use include personal gratification.
Juventud y Redes Sociales: Motivaciones y usos frecuentes
This study examined the use of social networks among 1,487 adolescents in Andalusia, Spain. The results showed that most young people consistently used social networks, with the average age of joining being 12.5 years old. Two main motivations for using social networks were identified: social and psychological. No significant gender differences existed in frequency of use, but motivations did differ - boys tended to be motivated by emotional factors while girls were more relationally motivated. The findings provide insights into how social networks can impact social integration, citizenship, and education among youth.

This document summarizes a study that classified MOOC users into three profiles based on their levels of intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, and persistence intentions:
1. Low interest users had medium-low levels of motivation and low intentions to complete courses.
2. Self-referential users were more motivated internally than externally and intended to persist in courses.
3. Highly committed users had high levels of all motivations and intentions.
The study found that highly committed users had significantly higher satisfaction, perceived quality, and intensity of their learning experiences compared to the other groups. Identifying user profiles based on pre-course motivations can help predict dropout rates and differentiate learning experiences.

Schools in Jicamarca and Villa El Salvador
The document summarizes a study on personal networks and behavior settings in the communities of Jicamarca and Villa el Salvador in Peru. The study found that schools were the second most significant context for interaction in neighborhoods after people's homes. Schools facilitated relationships between families in neighborhoods, as reflected by higher density and transitivity of ties. Personal networks were more fragmented and alternative spaces like markets played a larger role where communities were less established, as in Jicamarca, which also had higher rates of child labor.
