1. Make a presentation to discuss the steps involved in the home automation
design and explain control and management of smart appliances for a
typical example by web and mobile applications.
Home Automation
• Home Automation is the use of technology to automate your home. It is also referred
as “Smart Home Technology”. Home automation allows you to control almost every
aspect of your home through the Internet of Things (IoT).
• Home Automation started with the invention of the Thermostat and has developed into
one of the biggest and fastest growing markets in technology. Home Automation’s
potential continues to grow. You can use it for home security, controlling appliances,
monitoring electricity usage and also as a personal assistant for looking after the
people in need.
Steps involved in the home automation design
• Finding Out Exactly What You Want
Any reputable custom integrator will begin with a thorough consultation. This can be done in the
office or through a discovery call. The goal is to figure out the scope of your project: the rooms and
technology you want to include. We also work with you to see which control solutions would make
the most sense for your family.

Control and management of smart appliances for a typical example by web and
mobile applications:
The web-based design was used to monitor the energy usage characteristics of a sample DC motor
instrumented into a model smart electric home appliances control system, where user can monitor and
control it remotely from any place. The control system showed to be reliable and efficient in facilitating
energy wastage and loss reduction. Further work should consider electrical appliances control systems
able to both control and record the quantities of energy consumed at any time instants, using web
interface and Node MCU.
A mobile app is a medium between an IoT device and a mobile phone. The app works as the primary
interface through which we can manage smart things. Mobile IoT apps supplement and enhance the
use of IoT to make it work more efficiently.your phone can alert your coffee machine that you are
nearby, so it can start making coffee right before your arrival.
For a web controlled smart application it is majorly used in industry and for large area of users For a
mobile controlled iot its majorly used by common people and between a small area of users

2.Make a presentation on observable, automated, and controllable
green energy using IoT sensors.
Energy monitoring: smart meters
• Smart meters are meters provide smart grid interface between energy provider and
the user.
• These meters operate digitally and allow complex and automated transfers of data
between customer and provider.
• They deliver signals from energy provider that can cut the cost of energy. This
whole process of communication of information between provider and customer
can take place by a home energy management system (EMS).
• This system tracks the use of energy in detail to save energy.
Automation of greenhouse environment using simple timer-based actuators or by means of
conventional control algorithms that require feedbacks from offline sensors for switching devices
are not efficient solutions in large-scale modern greenhouses. Wireless instruments that are
integrated with artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms and knowledge-based decision support
systems have attracted growers’ attention due to their implementation flexibility, contribution to
energy reduction, and yield predictability. Sustainable production of fruits and vegetables under
greenhouse environments with reduced energy inputs entails proper integration of the existing
climate control systems with IoT automation in order to incorporate real-time data transfer from
multiple sensors into AI algorithms and crop growth models using cloud-based streaming
systems. This chapter provides an overview of such an automation workflow in greenhouse
environments by means of distributed wireless nodes that are custom-designed based on the
powerful dual-core 32-bit microcontroller with LoRa modulation at 868MHz. Sample results from
commercial and research greenhouse experiments with the IoT hardware and software have been
provided to show connection stability, robustness, and reliability. The presented setup allows
deployment of AI on embedded hardware units such as CPUs and GPUs, or on cloud-based
streaming systems that collect precise measurements from multiple sensors in different locations
inside greenhouse environments.
Greenhouse Automation Using Wireless Sensors and IoT Instruments
Integrated with Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence in greenhouse automation
This process involved adding human insight to the selection of the training data, as
well as considering augmenting data sets with synthetic data and more samples, and
providing clean labeled data. In this regard, choosing the right AI algorithm, such as
machine learning, deep learning, or a combination, and identifying the optimal set of
parameters will lead to the most robust and accurate prediction model
An example of simulation is the adaptive management framework that allows growers
to verify edge cases and test and run hundreds of scenarios that would otherwise be
too time-and-cost intensive. In the example of microclimate prediction , the outputs of
the AI which are microclimate data of the next 24 hours are used with predictive and
adaptive control algorithms , therefore simulation enables validating the control
process before deploying the codes on the actual hardware.
The use of IoT in renewable energy generation
• A smart, reliable, and efficient power supply helps in the smooth functioning of
smart cities. The use of IoT in renewable energy production will help meet the
energy demands of these smart cities efficiently.
• The applications of IoT in renewable energy production involve sensors that are
attached to generation, transmission, and distribution equipment. These devices
help companies to monitor and control the working of the equipment remotely
in real time. This leads to reduced operational costs and lowers our dependence
on the already limited fossil fuels. The use of renewable energy resources
already provides a variety of benefits over conventional ones. The
implementation of IoT will help us utilize these clean energy sources to a
further extent.
Automation
An IoT device can help detect the most favorable conditions for energy production. The equipment
can be adjusted accordingly to generate maximum output. The major benefit of IoT devices is that

monitoring and efficient working of wind turbines. The direction of the wind turbine can be altered
for gaining maximum efficiency by analyzing the data generated by IoT sensors. A similar
application can be seen in solar power utilization. The direction of solar panels can be altered to be
perpendicular to the energy source. This provides maximum utilization of solar energy. These
changes can be done manually or automatically to maximize electricity production. With automated
controls, the power plant can work more efficiently. This significantly improves power output,

Cost efficiency
• The internet of things provides excellent tools for monitoring power
consumption. Utility companies and electricity suppliers can get an
unprecedented degree of control over their resources using IoT
solutions. This, in turn, provides valuable insights to companies to make
decisions. Power distribution companies can determine and analyze
users’ power consumption patterns using IoT-generated data. Utilities
can balance the supply based on the demands of consumers. This
eventually leads to companies to cut down on the wastage of electricity
and save a lot of money.
Grid management
The integration of IoT technology enables not only the inclusion of more systems into the grid,
but it also improves overall grid management. By placing sensors at substations and along the
distribution lines, companies can gather real-time power consumption data. Energy companies
can use this data to make impactful decisions about voltage control, load switching, and network
configuration. Sensors located on the grid can also help alert the operators about outages in real-
time. The availability of real-time data allows workers to turn off power to damaged lines quickly.
This prevents possible electrocution cases, wildfires, or other hazards.
Distributed system
The smart energy grid is expanding due to the rise in commercial and residential use.
This increasingly scattered power system represents a major change for energy
companies. In addition to managing their primary generators, they must also now
manage a growing number of small generators located across the grid. The use of IoT
helps monitor these vastly distributed smart grids easily. Sensors placed at multiple
points can help in the monitoring of a large number of points in the production and
transmission stages. This access to multiple points was not possible using traditional
methods. With the increased control and huge chunk of data access because of a large
number of sensors, the grid system can be managed effectively. In case of varying
energy demands, the IoT sensors react to the changes autonomously. They can provide
accurate information to operators to precisely manage demand.
Residential solutions
• Renewable energy implementation is not limited to utility companies but is being
adopted at the household level as well. With the aid of IoT devices, citizens can
generate ‘green energy’ in their backyards to meet their household needs. IoT
infrastructure solutions help in leveraging renewable energy and make it efficient.
With IoT, users can connect their solar panels, rainwater harvesters, smart roof, and
windows in one system. Users can manage the working of their electrical devices using
a desktop or mobile application. Customers can also install smart devices in their
homes or in their office spaces that measure the power consumed by individual
appliances and devices. They can use this information to identify waste and especially
power-hungry appliances to save on their energy bills.

• Renewable energy is environment friendly and given the applications of renewable
energy in smart grid, it makes the grid far more promising.
• This integration of smart grid with renewable energy makes renewable energy more
efficient.
• Various smart devices and Energy Management systems have been discussed. It also
covers the role of IOT technology in smart grid for clean energy.

Home automation allows you to control almost every aspect of your home through the Internet of Things (IoT). • Home Automation started with the invention of the Thermostat and has developed into one of the biggest and fastest growing markets in technology. Home Automation’s potential continues to grow. You can use it for home security, controlling appliances, monitoring electricity usage and also as a personal assistant for looking after the people in need.

Further work should consider electrical appliances control systems able to both control and record the quantities of energy consumed at any time instants, using web interface and Node MCU. Mobile IoT apps supplement and enhance the use of IoT to make it work more efficiently.your phone can alert your coffee machine that you are nearby, so it can start making coffee right before your arrival. For a web controlled smart application it is majorly used in industry and for large area of users For a mobile controlled iot its majorly used by common people and between a small area of users

Energy monitoring: smart meters • Smart meters are meters provide smart grid interface between energy provider and the user. • These meters operate digitally and allow complex and automated transfers of data between customer and provider. • They deliver signals from energy provider that can cut the cost of energy. This whole process of communication of information between provider and customer can take place by a home energy management system (EMS). • This system tracks the use of energy in detail to save energy.

Automation of greenhouse environment using simple timer-based actuators or by means of conventional control algorithms that require feedbacks from offline sensors for switching devices are not efficient solutions in large-scale modern greenhouses. Wireless instruments that are integrated with artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms and knowledge-based decision support systems have attracted growers’ attention due to their implementation flexibility, contribution to energy reduction, and yield predictability. Sustainable production of fruits and vegetables under greenhouse environments with reduced energy inputs entails proper integration of the existing climate control systems with IoT automation in order to incorporate real-time data transfer from multiple sensors into AI algorithms and crop growth models using cloud-based streaming systems. This chapter provides an overview of such an automation workflow in greenhouse environments by means of distributed wireless nodes that are custom-designed based on the powerful dual-core 32-bit microcontroller with LoRa modulation at 868MHz. Sample results from commercial and research greenhouse experiments with the IoT hardware and software have been provided to show connection stability, robustness, and reliability. The presented setup allows deployment of AI on embedded hardware units such as CPUs and GPUs, or on cloud-based streaming systems that collect precise measurements from multiple sensors in different locations inside greenhouse environments.

The use of IoT in renewable energy production will help meet the energy demands of these smart cities efficiently. • The applications of IoT in renewable energy production involve sensors that are attached to generation, transmission, and distribution equipment. These devices help companies to monitor and control the working of the equipment remotely in real time. This leads to reduced operational costs and lowers our dependence on the already limited fossil fuels. The use of renewable energy resources already provides a variety of benefits over conventional ones. The implementation of IoT will help us utilize these clean energy sources to a further extent.

With the aid of IoT devices, citizens can generate ‘green energy’ in their backyards to meet their household needs. IoT infrastructure solutions help in leveraging renewable energy and make it efficient. With IoT, users can connect their solar panels, rainwater harvesters, smart roof, and windows in one system. Users can manage the working of their electrical devices using a desktop or mobile application. Customers can also install smart devices in their homes or in their office spaces that measure the power consumed by individual appliances and devices. They can use this information to identify waste and especially power-hungry appliances to save on their energy bills.
