Tropical Rainforest In Brazil
Long, long ago, in a lively and vibrant tropical rainforest in Brazil, there lived three birds. First, there
was Kiwi the parrot. He was the most beautiful bird in all of Brazil. His colorful feathers and bright
plumage never failed to turn heads. Next, there was Victor the peacock. His gorgeous royal blue color
and alluring tail feathers attracted all of the females. Last, and probably least, there was Toko the
toucan. He had dull, dark feathers, and a short, ugly beak. Because of this, poor Toko had no friends
and endured a lot of teasing. One day, when the forest habitat was buzzing with activity, Toko decided
to go get some food. On his way, he saw Kiwi and Victor. He tried to say hi, but they drowned him out
with jeers. Oh ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Boring old Kiwi and his annoying sidekick Victor. I guess you re the ugly ones now. Soon, Toko
began bragging and making all the other birds feel awful, just like the way Kiwi and Victor had made
him feel when they teased him. One day, when Toko was once again bragging about himself, Kiwi
flew up to him and said, Goddess Dalia wants to see you in the cave. Kiwi looked inexplicable happy,
and Toko was confused. Why would Dalia want to see him? Toko flew to the cave of the gods to find
Dalia waiting. She did not look happy. In fact, she looked quite the opposite. She glared at him. She
launched into her argument as soon as he came in. You went against my ONE CONDITION! You brag
so much! You have only gotten worse after I helped you. The other birds and I cannot deal with your
self obsessed, narcissistic ways anymore. This is it! I am going to change you back to how you looked
in the beginning. , she yelled

Hela Cells Impact
The scientific development of the HeLa cells has made a huge impact in the medical field. HeLa cells
are a cell line created from the doctors of Johns Hopkins Hospital. These cells are from a woman
named Henrietta Lacks and are considered to be immortal . They are considered to be unique because
they are not like any other normal human cell. This cell line is considered to be a triumph to many
scientists and researchers, but it also had some negative impacts. Many controversies arose from the
development of these cells such as how doctors at Johns Hopkins did not get consent from its patients,
how the Lacks family received nothing even with the success of HeLa cells, and the racial segregation
that has become one of the reasons for the creation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the time when Henrietta Lacks was being treated for her cervical cancer, it was the time of
segregation. Henrietta Lacks was an African American woman who was diagnosed with cancer and
most hospitals were segregated. The Berkeley Science Review s Alexandra Del Carpio states, At the
time, Johns Hopkins was the only option in the area for African Americans seeking medical treatment.
(Del Carpio) Henrietta did not have a choice about which hospital to go to seek treatment. Since Johns
Hopkins was the only hospital to treat black people, she could not even make a decision about which
hospital to go to. In bigpictureeducation.com, they exclaim, Henrietta Lacks did receive free health
care treatment for her cervical cancer, but, as she was African American, she had to travel miles to a
segregated hospital to be treated. (Big Picture) Notwithstanding Johns Hopkins provides Henrietta
with free healthcare, she has to travel a distance to receive this care. Nobody knew about the struggles
that Henrietta has dealt with by Rebecca Skloot helped her share her story. Rebecca Skloot is an
author who specializes in the science and medical category and is mostly known for her book The
Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. In this book she writes, Henrietta was a black woman born of
slavery and sharecropping who fled north for prosperity, only to have her cells used as tools by white
scientists without her consent. (Skloot) For the reason that Henrietta was black, the doctors at Johns
Hopkins thought that they were capable of doing whatever they wanted with her. They viewed her as
an experiment Considering her cells are unlike others and they never asked her for her permission.
The racial aspect played a huge role in the impact of HeLa cells. If they did not occur, then the whole
world would not have the knowledge of today s modern

BG Ellis Brigadier General Richard T. Ellis
The legacy leader I have chosen to write about is Brigadier General (BG) Richard T. Ellis (Deceased).
BG Ellis was a true influential leader in the United States (U.S.) Army and intelligence community.
This paper will discuss how BG Ellis showed leadership attributes and competencies covered in Army
Doctrine Publication (ADP) 6 22 and Army Doctrine Reference Publication (ADRP) 6 22. It will also
discuss how he influenced leaders and changes in the intelligence community. Finally it will cover
how his actions influenced me in my military career. BG Ellis s major leader attribute was intellect.

A major goal I always strive for is the acquisition of enemy technology and weapons. Then having the
technology or weapon analyzed and used to develop countermeasures or techniques, which will save
U.S. Forces lives. Realizing I am not currently in an operational unit to accomplish this, I look at other
issues in my career field. One of the issues I have noticed in my career path is the negative
connotation towards counterintelligence agents. This exists for several reasons, lazy agents,
inexperienced agents, or lack of knowledge of commanders. My goal is teach to younger agents there
is always something they can be doing some kind of counterintelligence related work anywhere they
are stationed. Also, confronting the lazy agents and either convincing them it is in their best interest to
work or get out of the military occupational specialty and make room for agents who actually want to
do the job. There needs to be an organizational change throughout counterintelligence to change how
the intelligence discipline is seen by the rest of the operating

Questions and Answers on US Health Care Statistics
Exercise 40 Questions Questions to be Graded EXERCISE According to the Introduction, what
categories were reported to be statistically significant? The introduction reported that the statistically
significant categories were income, health status of adults and children, working status of adults,
education, and the utilization of health care. In Table 1, is the No. in household reported as statistically
significant among the three groups (uninsured, Medicaid, and privately insured)? Provide a rationale
for your answer. The number of people in the household, as reported in Table 1, was not found to be
statistically significant at any of the significance levels (p values). This means that the null hypothesis
fails to be rejected. Should the null hypothesis for Marital Status (%) be rejected? Provide a rationale
for your answer. The percentage of individuals married across the various groups differed
significantly, with a p value less than .001. This means that the researchers can reject the null
hypothesis in favor of the alternative hypothesis (that there are group differences). How many null
hypotheses were rejected in the Salsberry (2003) study? Provide a rationale for your answer. A null
hypothesis can be rejected when a significant chi square value is found in this study. This means that
five of the null hypotheses in the study were rejected, as the significant X2 values indicated that there
were significant group differences. Does Marital Status or Education

Long Term Effects Of Parental Divorce On A Child s...
The key research question in this study is what are the long term effects of parental divorce on a child
s relationship between their parents and their siblings? They took into consideration variables such as
age of divorce, gender, and living arrangements so they can see what influence they may have on the
present study results and compare it with previous studies. They gave 3 different surveys to 102
students with married parents and 107 students with divorced parents to be able to observe the
differences in relationships between the two types of families. Some of the key findings of this study
are that females actually have better adult relationships with their siblings and that divorce caused the
children to have better relationships with their mother, and worse relationships with their father. They
noted that the age when their parents got divorced was not a variable that affected whether or not they
had a good relationship with their siblings. For the relationship between their mothers, it was better
unless there was a variable of pre divorce or post divorce conflict between them. For their fathers, it
showed that daughters had worse relationships with their fathers compared to sons. Living
arrangements showed effects for both of the parents depending on which parent they lived with. When
it comes to remarriage, it had a positive affect on mother child relationship when the father got
remarried and no affect when the mother was remarried.

Grip and Arm Strength
Purpose Statement
Occupational health professionals consistently document the need for physical testing upon
application for physically demanding jobs. Decades of studies suggest that physical fitness screening
prior to job selection decreases workplace injuries. Many of these studies prove specifically that a
direct correlation exists between one s strength and job performance. This case study examines such a
claim. It is an analysis of the impact arm strength (ARM) and hand grip (GRIP) have on workers
performance on the job (SIMS). So, can job performance be predicted linearly by a combination of
grip strength and arm strength? Therefore, the dependent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, you risk injury to applicants who are not strong enough to do the job. A solution to this problem
is to develop a measure of physical ability that is easy and quick to administer, does not risk injury,
and is related to how well a person performs the actual job. A study by Blakely, Quiñones, and Jago
(1995) published in the journal Personnel Psychology reports on the research results of just such a
measure. That study, and this case study, looks at methods for determining if these strength tests are
related to performance on the job. The principles and methods associated with this case study also
apply to any number of variables other than strength and job performance.
Definition of Variables
The dependent variable will be work/job performance and the two independent variables are grip
(GRIP) and arm (ARM) strength and two measures of strength were gathered from each participant. A
piece of equipment known as the Jackson Evaluation System (JES) was used to collect the strength
data. The JES can be configured to measure the strength of a number of muscle groups. In this study,
grip strength and arm strength were measured. For each of the tests, the participant was asked to exert
as much force as they could for a period of 2 seconds. The equipment then measured the maximum
force exerted in pounds (lbs.). Since there is little to no

Analysing Ethical Issues of National Kidney Foundation
Case Ethical Analysis:
National Kidney Foundation of Singapore (A) Anatomy of a Crisis
Wee Beng Geok and Yvonne Chong
Overview
When the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) of Singapore came under the scrutiny of the nation back
in the July of 2005, it was evident that there was going to be major changes in the local social welfare
scene.
As a non profit charitable organisation, the main aim of NKF was not only to look after the needs of
its patients but encompassed drawing resources from society and moving towards changing and
improving society as a whole.
In this report, we focus on the issues that the top management faced and how this entire saga has
affected not only NKF but also its numerous internal and external stakeholders. ... Show more content

NKF s management might seem to not have taken donors opinions into consideration and hence
portrayed the image of mismanaging donations. However, it would be unfair to not point out how not
all stakeholders are equal and each is entitled to different considerations. Expectations differ across
stakeholders and decisions made would more often than not lead to a conflict of interest but following
the principle of utilitarianism, it is up to the discretion of the organisation to balance their decisions
and decide how best to appease the majority. An example would be NKF s dilemma of whether to
disclose the salary of the CEO; not doing so would result in accusations of not being transparent while
disclosing it might lead to criticism of charity leaders being too highly paid. The interests of the CEO
and the donors are at conflict.
Alternative Theoretical Perspectives
Having received the National Youth Excellence Award in 1976 and practiced as a lawyer for 6 years2,
Durai could be seen as a leader with strong self efficacy and self esteem. He valued new challenges
more than conformity and challenged society s perspective of managing a charity. His refreshing
approaches to branding and fund raising led to staff costs incurred by the many fund raising activities
to be higher than that of staff cost for dialysis treatment, which was not on the same page as what
external stakeholders (donors and society) would expect from a charity.

The Lives of All the People in Stasiland Are Shaped by the...
The lives of all the people in Stasiland are shaped by the wall.
In Berlin, the Iron Curtain had many purposes. It was there to protect, to separate and to enforce a way
of life for East Berliners. Firstly, The Wall gave meaning to people s lives in different ways. It defined
where they were to go, who they were to see and who they were to be. For the countless Stasi and
informers, it gave them a purpose and an importance in society, and after The Wall came down, that
purpose was lost and yearned for. Secondly, The Wall and the controlling ways of the Stasi loomed
over the lives of East Berliners, and its implementation was just one of many extreme measures to
minimalise Capitalism and encourage Communism. Thirdly, although The Wall ... Show more content

The Paul family was forced to live every day with the wall standing in the way of their happiness, and
the Stasi meticulously controlling their lives. Funder is astonished to realise that there was one Stasi
operative for every 63 people.
Informers were rewarded by the construction of the wall. Their lifestyle within East Germany was
advantageous, as they were secured a state of superiority and their loved ones protected. They had
nothing to fear, as they were given importance and a role in the sheltered social construct that was
Stasiland. Proponents of Communism like the heavily supported and respected public figure Herr von
Schnitzler were proud and protective of the Iron Curtain, and believed that its construction was
beneficial for the population of East Germany. This biased view of Funder that The Wall benefitted
Informers as they did not have to struggle or fear the manipulation and scrutiny of the Stasi
themselves is also exemplified through the character of Herr Winz. Funder senses he misses his past
life as he accuses the West of propaganda, obviously implying that Funder won t provide an objective

counter espionage. That is where I spent my life . These men s views, professions, purposes and very

Cigarette Cigarettes Should Be Banned
Why Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Should Be Banned
Are you guys wondering how dangerous and deadly cigarette are? Today I am going to be discussing
why Cigarette and other tobacco products should be banned. My first reason is that annually, one of
every five deaths in the U.S. is related to smoking, due to conditions such as pneumonia, bronchitis,
lung cancer and emphysema, according to the CDC website. Cigarette smoking costs the U.S. more
than $193 billion, including money in lost productivity due to illness and death, and money used for
health care that the smoker is unable to pay for himself.
Cigarette smoke contains over 4,000 chemicals, including 43 known cancer causing.
Did you know that one of every five deaths in the U.S. is related to smoking, yes smoking causes allot
of death did you also know that Cigarette smoking is responsible for more than 480,000 deaths per
year in the United States, including more than 41,000 deaths from secondhand smoke. Or 1,300 deaths
every day. On average, smokers die 10 years earlier than nonsmokers. Smoking causes about 90% of
all lung cancer deaths. More than 16 million Americans are living with a disease caused by smoking.
Smoking causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung diseases, and diabetes. Did you know Smoking is

The Film Analysis Of The Movie Mementos
Mementos the backwards version of a masterpiece In the movie mementos It illustrates an investigator
for an insurance agency who lost his memory and in an interesting yet confusing and frustrating way
shows him solving his wife s murder. It takes an interesting approach to storytelling by putting the
viewer in as much of a confused state as much as the main character himself. Which leads to the
viewer of the movie to become somewhat lost in the vagueness of it all.mementos is a movie that has
succumb to failure due the fact that the story was too confusing, Needless information and this style of
storytelling simply does not function . To begin the story it started off with the death of who would

most would probably assume their version of the movie is messed up. This initial confusion with

more I liked it! There was only one thing I noticed that made this chapter stick out from the previous
chapters is, Alex s problem. When I first started reading, I was expecting for Alex to have a physical

think that I would be the master at knowing nervousness. For example: At the end year of the 2014

anything below a ninety five, would cause me to fail. If I failed, I wouldn t be allowed to come back to

Alex. Just like Alex screwed up by blowing his cover, I screwed up by not answering a question, but
just like he covered it up, I did too. Except I got caught and received a ninety nine. Luckily, Alex hasn

Lab Report on Solubility
Separation of the Components of a Mixture
General Chemistry 1 (Chem 101), ISP SCUHS
Report 2
January 26, 2014
Abstract
The analyses of mixture were to distinguish and identify homogeneous mixture by using the
techniques of decantation and sublimation. By performing these techniques, we examined our
solutions such as SiO2 (sand), NH4Cl (ammonium chloride), and NaCl (sodium chloride) and mixed
H2O (water) with each solution after being heated. After examining our solutions, we made
calculations by finding the percent mass of each solution once the experiment was completed. In our
findings, we were able to determine the mass of the determined and the percent recovery of matter.

A. Preliminary Steps
1. Obtain a sample of the mixture. The mixture you will separate contains three components: NaCl,
NH4Cl, and SiO2. Their separation will be accomplished by heating the mixture to sub lime the
NH4Cl, extracting the NaCl with water, and drying the remaining SiO2.
2. Obtain an evaporating dish and carefully weigh it to the nearest 0.01g on top of the loading scale
and record its mass on the data sheet.
3. Place about 3g of the mixture into the evaporating dish and carefully weigh it to the nearest 0.01g
with the top loading scale and record its mass on the data sheet.
4. Determine the mass of the mixture by subtracting the mass of the empty evaporating dish from the
mass of the evaporating dish containing the mixture and record the calculated mass onto the data
sheet.
B. Sublimation Steps
1. Place the beaker containing the mixture on the hot plate and heat until the white fumes no longer
form (about 15 minutes) during the sublimation process.
2. Allow the beaker to cool until it reaches room temperature; then weigh the beaker with the
contained solid. The loss in mass represents the amount of NH4Cl in your

A Study on Employee Job Satisfaction
CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION OF RESEARCH DESIGN 1.1 INTRODUCTION Job satisfaction in
regards to one s feeling or state of mind regarding nature of their work. Job can be influenced by
variety of factors like quality of one s relationship with their supervisor, quality of physical
environment in which they work, degree of fulfillment in their work, etc. Positive attitude towards job
are equivalent to job satisfaction where as negative attitude towards job has been defined variously
from time to time. In short job satisfaction is a person s attitude towards job. Job satisfaction is an

Increased productivity the quantity and quality of output per hour worked seems to be a byproduct of
improved quality of working life. It is important to note that the literature on the relationship between
job satisfaction and productivity is neither conclusive nor consistent. However, studies dating back to
Herzberg s (1957) have shown at least low correlation between high morale and high productivity, and
it does seem logical that more satisfied workers will tend to add more value to an organization.
Unhappy employees, who are motivated by fear of job loss, will not give 100 percent of their effort
for very long. Though fear is a powerful motivator, it is also a temporary one, and as soon as the threat
is lifted performance will decline. Tangible ways in which job satisfaction benefits the organization
include reduction in complaints and grievances, absenteeism, turnover, and termination; as well as
improved punctuality and worker morale. 1.4 RESEARCH OBJECTIVES The research has been

causes. A shortage of workers followed the Black Death with an estimated forty five per cent of the
population dying in England . As entire towns were either deserted or left devoid of life, rural peasants
increased their mobility into major cities. This shortage of rural workers led to famine as fields were
left to go fallow, placing further economic pressure on the peasant classes who survived as the price of
food increased. Due to the lack of labourers, the labourers who survived demanded greater wages as
they now had increased leverage over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Schools of thought such as held by the Lollards, followers of theologian and reformer John Wycliffe
whom acted as lay preachers, were held responsible for the Uprising as they were critical of the
church as an institution, particularly the concept of the Church owning land. As these Lollards
travelled and preached their opposition to the Church as temporal power, they resonated with the
peasants and became increasingly popular as unlike many of the priests and monks recruited after the
Black Death, they were observed to be genuinely pious . The already solid dissatisfaction with the
clergy only intensified with the imprisonment of a highly popular Lollard, John Ball. John Ball was
imprisoned at Maidstone in Kent when he came into conflict with Simon of Sudbury Archbishop of
Canterbury for lay preaching. The Hundred Years war with France is still ongoing at this point which
was also adding further pressure to the lower classes due to the taxes needed to fund it. The war was
very expensive, which meant more taxes had to be put in place to compensate for the lack of people
paying taxes on account of forty five per cent of tax payers being dead. Not only were wages fixed by
parliament, but parliament demanded more money from a populace already financially struggling
under fixed wages and inflated food prices. The stresses of the Hundred Years War only intensified
with the death of Edward III in 1377

The Impact Of Modern Technology On Modern Public Sector
The government s ability to provide it makes it ultimately more reliable and trustworthy.
The second, it is gaining access to an information, which increases the transparency of the government
and brings a positive message to the public, contributing to increase mutual trust; and the third, but
certainly an important aspect, is the involvement of the public in a dialogue. In my opinion,
participation is the key to the Government s credibility. The question is, if all these possibilities
provided by the modern technology are equally effectively utilized in the modern public sector?
Welch, Hinnant, and Moon (2005) express the concern about the one way dissemination of
information by E Governments, instead of encouraging the dialog with the public. However they
argue that there could be a variety of reasonable explanations of this one way approach. Some of
them: technology is not developed yet enough to provide convenient to ways interaction; it can
increase the workload on planning and requires a lot of structural and organizational changes, which
can take more time to adjust, they also suggest that it may be that managers are correct: citizens want
ease of service and information first and interaction second . (p. 387) Thus the first stage of E
Government implementation was focused on the convenient services delivery. And Government had
succeeded in making a lot of interaction accessible and comfortable for citizens, which certainly
contribute to its efficiency and may

Prayer Is An Important Part Of Someone s Life
Prayer is something we have an honor of doing. It s the best thing that anyone can do. God stops and
listens. He invites everyone to come in and have a talk with him. God promises to listen to us. God
will answer us if we try and talk to him. Jeremiah 33:3. Some of us have seen prayers answered. It is
something about having alone time with God something we should do often.
I. Pray Daily
God talks to us through His word every time we open up and read the Bible. We speak to God while
we pray. Prayer is an important part of someone s life. We pray and sometimes we praise Him in songs
that we sing. While we be at church or alone. (Philippians 1:3 4) When we face temptations, prayer
can make us feel secure. (Deuteronomy 31:8) God will never leave our side, even though we leave his
side. He will never fail us even though we fail Him. (1 Thessalonians 5:17) Praying without ceasing.
Build a relationship with God. Your prayer life shows how your relationship with God is. It s never too
much prayer time when you talk to the great almighty God that created you and died for you on
Calvary s cross for our sins. God is our best friend our only friend that will not fail us. Praying without
ceasing . Ceasing is to end, to halt, to stop. The Bible says we should keep on praying. God is happy
when we talk with Him to thank Him for what he s done. It is easier for Christians to feel secure by
just praying then to actually PRAY. Too many people are happy with physical blessings and

Film Reflection On The Film Shottas
Introduction
For this assignment, I decided to reflect on the film Shottas . The film begins in the streets of
Kingston, Jamaica home of Biggs and Wayne, the two main characters. They lived within a very
dangerous and violent town, which drove them into their own violent lifestyle. As young men, how the
movie starts off, they rob the local drug dealers of a gun for a premeditated robbery. The money
allowed for them to purchase visas to come to Miami, Florida. While in the United States, as adults,
the two continue their criminal activities leading them to be deported back to their home in Jamaica.
Mad Max and Wayne, who was deported years before Biggs made his return, had already formed a
striving extortion business. Wayne made it mandatory for all businesses in the Kingston area to pay
money to operate there, or they will be killed. The Jamaica Police did not like Wayne or his Shoota
crew, after the gruesome public murder the police then killed Wayne s brother. Later, the Congressmen
offered to renew Wayne, Biggs, and Mad Max s visa to get them out of the country. Happily back in
Miami, the three men aim to becoming the top drug dealers of the city, by extorting the new top drug
dealer, Teddy. As they raise to power in Miami, they commit several forms of extortion, murder, and
assaults. The film ends in extreme violence leading to the murders of Wayne and Mad Max, in a
shootout with Teddy s crew. Biggs then murders Teddy and his girlfriend, while getting away with all
his money and escapes.
Scanning
This movie has a lot to do with organized crime and how organizations typically build their way up to
it. In the beginning, Biggs and Wayne were just acting as partners in low leveled criminal activities,
however, with age came more discipline and a striving criminal organization named Shottas . The film
focuses on different organized crimes, yet for this paper the focus will be on extortion. Extortion is,
the act of obtaining property of another through threats of future harm. It seems to be a major issue
within the movie, because it is the way the Shottas came to power in the underworld.
Analysis
When it comes to extortion, in my opinion, there are different levels when it comes to classifying

Pride And Prejudice By Joe Wright
The stories about the football player falling in love with the shy girl, the prince falling in love with a
servant girl, or where the rich guy falls in love with a poor girl is most often seen in movies and
books. These stories all present issue about how divided social classes are. Focus Pictures version of
the famous Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice directed by Joe Wright and won numerous awards for
best actress, production design, best motion picture, and many more. The trailer for Pride and
Prejudice made it seem as though this was just going to be a love story between a rich man named
Darcy, played by Matthew MacFadyen and a poor girl named Elizabeth Bennet, played by Keira
Knightley, but overall it wasn t just that. Under that story lies an overwhelming amount of social
conflict, ideas spreading from the feminist theory, to marriage, to most importantly social class. The
story looks into the Bennet family and their situation. They are about to lose all their land, and society
in their time is patriarchal based in that only eldest son receives entailment to their real estate.
However, the real problem comes from the fact that Mr. Bennett has five daughters! Mr. and Mrs.
Bennett marry their daughters off to men with power and money so they can ensure that they are
financially secured. In this era women had no choice but to marry young, dues to the face they didn t
have as many job opportunities. On top of that if they hadn t been married they would have been
mocked.

Personal homepage or company websites are the best ways for sharing data ideas with
people which can have unlimited purposes. In 2000, 5.5 Million people were subscribed to

Goffman s theory of The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life , a person tries to control his or
her behavior in social situations by making a certain impression of him/her upon others. He links
it with a stage performance where the impression given is the impression that a person tries to
give in this kind of social situation and impression given off is the impression that is conceived
by other people i.e. the audience. On the other hand, the deep web refers to the kind of

I recently stayed at the Denver Warwick hotel for a business meeting and was very pleased with the
entire experience! I will start off and mention the small gripes I have, one of which is how far this
place is from the airport. I suppose that is to be expected since it is in Downtown Denver, and
Colorado is definitely a vast area (this was my first visit out there...) but the $65 ride from the airport
was a sting! The other thing I found to be a little odd was that there was no ATM in the hotel. We
needed cash to be able to pay our car driver back to the airport, and had to go across the street to one
(which ended up being out of service) so that was a little inconvenient, but our driver was kind and
helped us find one nearby. Beyond those two things, the stay at the Warwick was nothing but positive.
I was given a junior suite that was also handicapped accessible, and it was perfect. There was a very
comfortable king bed, a big flat screen TV, a little sitting area upon entering and a desk/office area
with plenty of outlets to plug in electronics! The wireless access was $10 a day, but for a flawless high
speed, connection, it was well worth it The bathroom was absolutely beautiful and very good sized!

bathtub (that was lower than average so it was easier to step in and out of) with yet another

Hurricane Andrew Research Papers
The sound of the wind, that s what you never forget. The initial whisper. The growing mewing that
turns into a howl. Then they cry of glass shattering. The grumbling of a roof peeling apart , said Ana
Veciana Suarez, as she remembers one of the worst, fiercest, and most powerful storm to hit South
Florida, Hurricane Andrew. On August 24, 1992, Category 5 Hurricane Andrew came through and
devastated South Florida turning its full forces on Miami Dade county. The aftermath of this hurricane
was completely unbelievable and devastating, being that it was the most high priced storm ever
recorded in United States History. Rebuilding the community took several years and even after
everything was rebuilt, citizens of South Florida, would never forget Hurricane Andrew.

Similarities And Differences Between Hamlet And Much Ado...
In William Shakespeare s works, emotions surrounding relationships are presented at different
intensities depending on the genre of the play. Hamlet is a passionate and dark play, where the main
character plots a scheme to avenge his father s murder. As a result, emotions between Ophelia and
Hamlet are heightened and the consequences that arise are severe. Contrastingly, in the comedy Much
Ado About Nothing , Shakespeare intends for a light hearted storyline approach. Conflicts in

The Hustler Analysis
Why did Sarah Packard kill herself? In the film, The Hustler, written by Walter Tevis, it s about a man
named Eddie Felson who is a pool hustler. He loses a pool game to Minnesota Fats, which messes up
his reputation as a pool player and then falls in love with an alcoholic drinker named Sarah Parkard.
This paper should focus on what led to Sarah Parkard to killing herself. The film starts off by Eddie
traveling to New York to compete with the pool great Minnesota Fats. After a long pool session,
Minnesota Fats beats Felson. After losing Eddie can t find anyone to play against him. This is where
Piper Laurie s character Sarah Packard comes in. Presented to viewers and to Eddie as a loner and a
drinker, Sarah desperately wants to be loved, telling Eddie at one point that she needs to hear those
words from him, ... and if you ever say them, I ll never let you take them back . By insinuating, Eddie
does not say, I love you , to Sarah until after she kills herself in Bert s hotel bathroom, an act she takes
after writing, Perverted , Twisted , and Crippled on the mirror in lipstick.
Those three words reflect her self image as much as how she sees Bert and Eddie in that moment.
Walking with a pronounced limp, Sarah lives with the idea of crippled and twisted every day, but she
also sees herself as a drunk and as, basically, a prostitute, telling Eddie at one point that she owes her
livelihood to the last rich man she dated. She also sees herself as a writer who

Analysis Of A Thousand Splendid Sunss
Great authors use literary elements to develop novels. In A Thousand Splendid Suns, Mariam, born
out of wedlock, lives in Afghanistan. Afghan society refers to children born out of wedlock as a
harami , Nana, her mom, emphasizes this to Mariam constantly. Later on in the novel, Laila, Mariam s
sister wife has a harami herself. Khaled Hosseini uses characterization and tone to compare and
contrast the ways Nana and Laila cope with having a harami, showing that Laila overcomes the
stereotype. Hosseini uses characterization of Mariam through Nana s upbringing to develop the
subject of self doubt. Mariam, born out of wedlock, becomes shamed and targeted by her mother,
Nana. Nana always told her that she was an illegitimate person who would never have legitimate
claim to the things other people had, things such as love, family, home, and acceptance (4). Not
knowing any better, Mariam believes that she does not deserve the same personal rights as everyone
because of her social status, even though she cannot control that. Nana blamed Mariam for the
embarrassment, guilt, and shame of having a harami, making Mariam feel at fault. Nana makes
Mariam feel lonely, undeserving, and insecure, because of her status, which she did not choose.
Always dealing with Nana s harsh words, it did not occur to young Mariam to ponder the unfairness of
apologizing for the manner of her own birth (7). Nana s hurtful words guilted Mariam into taking the
blame over things she did not cause or

In many novels and plays, one of the key components of the plot is family relationships. A family s

In the plays Long Days Journey into Night by Eugene O neill and Death of a Salesman by Arthur

This is a factor that causes discord between even the most harmonious families. At one point in Long

Hair Fibers
The word hair usually refers to two distinct structures:
the part beneath the skin, called the hair follicle or when pulled from the skin, called the bulb. This
organ is located in the dermis and maintains stem cells, which not only re grow the hair after it falls
out, but also are recruited to regrow skin after a wound.[2] the shaft, which is the hard filamentous
part that extends above the skin surface. A cross section of the hair shaft may be divided roughly into
three zones.
Hair fibers have a structure consisting of several layers, starting from the outside:

The cortex contains melanin, which colors the fiber based on the number, distribution and types of

Oval and irregularly shaped fibers are generally more wavy or even curly. The cuticle is the outer
covering. Its complex structure slides as the hair swells and is covered with a single molecular layer of
lipid that makes the hair repel water.[4] The diameter of human hair varies from .017 to .18
millimeters (0.00067 to 0.00709 in).[6] There are two million small, tubular glands and sweat glands
that produce watery fluids that cool the body by evaporation. The glands at the opening of the hair

realized that he couldn t rely on federal police. To win this war against the cartels, Calderon needed
real cops he could trust. The Mexican Government has killed or has captured around 40 major cartel
members. One of the biggest captures of cartel members was in December 200, when the Mexican
Marines destroyed the Beltran Leyva Cartel, killing its leader and capturing all of his top duties.

Alison Hargreaves Research Paper
In the history of mountaineering, there are those who fall through the cracks of history, and those who
outshine the sun itself. Alison Hargreaves was one of these astonishing people who set a new standard
in the climbing community. Born in England during the early 1960 s, Hargreaves mother was a
teacher, and father a scientist. By the time she was six she had already fallen in love with the outdoors
through her parent s hobby of hiking. Hargreaves was fortunate to live in the era she did. Due to the
cultural revolution in the 60s, while she was still a child, doors were opened for her that would have
been closed if she d been born a decade earlier. By the time she turned 13, Alison had been introduced
to rock climbing through climbing before school. A mere four years later Hargreaves left home to
pursue her passion full time. In a way Alison s decisions reflect the nature of the climbing community.
She easily could have gone into higher education, but turned it down to rather explore who she was
and get busy doing what she loved. She didn t waste time going with the flow, Alison was dedicated to
her personal life, and everything was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She took flack from those who did not know her, and from those that had not drive to accomplish
great things. Yet on the other hand, women have sent letters to Ballard saying that they envied
Hargraves personal ambition and achievement. The most important thing she could have done, and
accomplished, for her children is showing them how much she cared for them, and showing them that
hard work pays off. Alison Hargreave is an iconic figure for mountaineers. She exemplified the free
natured tendencies of the subculture and pushed her body to its limits. She is someone to be looked up
to for her raw determination and strength of will. Thankfully these are traits she passed on to her
children, along with love and respect for the sport of

within the organization and how they shape behavior (Kummerow, 2013). Organizational structures,

achieve organizational goals (Pathak 2011). For a company to perform effectively it needs to grow,
organizational development is one element of growth that focuses on practice an research focused in
expanding effectiveness and the knowledge of individuals. In order to grow, a firm needs to transfer,
create ad retain knowledge within its staff members and people affiliated to it through organizational.

learning and evaluate how this concept relates to Jaguar Company.
ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE AND ITS FUNCTIONS
According to Kummerow and Kirby (2013), organizational culture is patterns of shared values, beliefs
and assumptions developed by an organization as it looks for ways to cope with issues of internal
integration and external adaptation. Consequently, it will govern how individual behave within the
organization and the culture is tough to any new member of the organization so that they know the

How Does Kurt Vonnegut Use Government Control In Harrison...
In the short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut, the future government has attempted to
convince everyone that everything is equal by giving people handicaps. George wears handicaps,
which are earpieces, and weights because he is smart and strong. Hazel is dumb and has no handicaps.
Hazel and George have a son, Harrison Bergeron, who was taken away by handicapper men because
he was smart, strong, tall, cute, and dangerous. Harrison later escaped jail and showed up at the news
studio declaring himself emperor and started pulling off his handicaps. Diana Moon Glampers, the
handicapper general shoots Harrison while he is dancing. Kurt Vonnegut had Harrison Bergeron killed
in the end to show hopelessness in the society by taking away choice, ... Show more content on

He showed that he wanted choice, so he broke in and got shot because the government did not like the
idea of anyone having choice so Diana killed him. Having was unequal so it was not allowed because
of how the government controlled the world. Second of all, by trying to create government control
they tried putting handicaps on people to think they were equal and made it impossible for anyone to
do anything without the risk of going to jail or being killed, because that would be unequal and
everyone thought that they were all actually equal except harrison and he escaped jail and stood up to
the government and ripped off his handicaps and the government shot him to create government
control because he broke the law. Lastly by trying to make everyone average the government used
handicaps to help make the world equal by taking away people s strength and intelligence to make
them average so they can t be better than anyone. But Harrison couldn t be average no matter what
they did to him so they took him to jail and he escaped and was way more intelligent, strong, and
handsomer than the average person so when he escaped the government killed him to keep the

Symbolism In Mirror Mirror
Director Tarsem Singh decided in 2012 to put a fresh enjoyable twist on Walt Disney s animated
classic by producing the film, Mirror Mirror. The center of attention shifted from the distinct
personalities of the seven dwarfs to the outshining temperament of the haughty, over the top Evil
Queen played by Julia Roberts. The Evil Queen in this film does not seem so vile but rather more of
an excessively excited cougar desperately attempting to get the attention of the handsome young
Prince to win his hand in marriage and his fortune, which she frantically needs to cover the debts
acquired by her lavish lifestyle. She outshines our main hero Snow White and makes the film what it
seems like: a comedic composition intended for a few good laughs. ... Show more content on

Her rather childish personality traits such as the intense emotional outbursts and overreactions suggest
severely stunted emotional growth. Her anger issues clearly count as one of the eminent qualities
Ravenna possessed; she does not excuse disappointment easily, even if her own brother appeared as
the one at fault of committing the mistake. Regardless of her cruel nature, Ravenna appears equipped
with the capability of affection to some degree which she validates through her tears as she recalls the
story of how she and her siblings had commandingly endured isolationism from their mother during
her childhood. This Evil Queen prevails as more than a mere villainess. Her sundry emotions and
attitudes make her a deeply complex character for an antagonist.
Media analysis professors and scholars examined the film Snow White and the Huntsman and
uncovered a multitude of opinions, speculations, and dynamic ideas on which to talk. Numerous
authors of articles focused on the characteristics and qualities of the main hero, Snow White. In the
book The Happiness Illusion: How the Media Sold Us a fairytale, a collection of a multitude of
contributions concerning deep analysis of fairy tale themes, Luke Hockley notes that By contrast,
Snow White s power comes not from her appearance but instead from her courage and bravery in acts
such as escaping the castle,

Jan Van Eyck Visual Analysis
There are endless works of art that surround each and every one of us that have always been enclosed
by mystery. Each person can interpret a piece in their own way, although, there is always some kind of
underlying meaning behind it. One of the greatest double portraits of the Netherlandish Renaissance,
is the Arnolfini Portrait, painted in 1494 by one of the most noteworthy northern European writers of
the Renaissance, Jan Van Eyck. The painting depicts a formal picture of a wealthy couple, Giovanna
Cenami and the patron of the work, Giovanni di Nicolao Arnolfini, joining hands in the bedchamber
of their Flemish home. Within this painting, Eyck uses the contrast of light and dark colors and
numerous amounts of symbolism to get his message ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is filled with scenes of the Passion of Christ. Like Jones mentions in his article, these metaphors
creates an emotional connection with the presence of God surrounding the couple (Jones). The mirror
also represents some kind some kind of witnessing taking place. This is reinforced by the signature of
Jan Van Eyck above the mirror that says Jan Van Eyck fuit hic which translates to Jan Van Eyck was
here . This shows a sense of the presence of the artist within the panting. Not only does the viewer
have a greater visual reality of the room that is depicted, but it can be also seen as if the viewer is
standing in the back of the room, as if they are a part of the painting itself, witnessing this scene. This
has a large significance of adding the viewer into the space and simply creates some sort of connection
that the audience can create as if they are involved within the event that is taking place (Hicks). The
mirror also shows what society was like at this time, because of the fact that only the privileged were
able to see their own faces and their own reflections (Hicks). In general, the mirror simply represents a

Speed Limits, Road Conditions And Driving Habits
How and why has speed become the number one cause of death to our children and a contributing
factor for many of our older citizens? Speed has become such an epidemic among our teenagers that
government agencies such as the Center for Disease Control (CDC) now publish records and statistics
yearly. During the course of this paper we will review accident statistics, speed limits, road conditions
and driving habits which are the leading causes of speeding. Even though speed is not the main factor
for vehicle fatalities, speed is dangerous resulting in accidents and influencing many fatalities.
Additionally, the information provided will examine some of the tools provided by law enforcement
and the policies of many insurance companies today to help deter speeders and prevent automotive
fatalities.
Today in the United States and in many other countries vehicle safety is paramount. In Fact, many of
the automotive manufacturers have spent countless hours trying to exercise immense detail to vehicle
safety, and the development to safety devices such as air bags, crumple zones, and frame and body
technology. Fortunately, for drivers, these manufacturers have created real life accident scenarios
which cover everything from rollovers, to frontal impacts, side impacts, and rear impacts. However,
these manufacturers have yet to figure out how to create safety devices that can reduce speed related
accidents, and fatalities. Ultimately, many of the vehicles built by the automotive

Using Web 2.0, Facebook, And Diy Cultural Citizenship Essay
Writing and Inquiry Assignment 2 Dylan Hannah. Power to the people? web 2.0, Facebook ,and DIY
cultural citizenship in Aotearoa New Zealand. By Ian Goodwin. The aim of Ian Goodwin s article
Power to the people? web 2.0, Facebook ,and DIY cultural citizenship in Aotearoa New Zealand is to
fuel a more informed and critically diverse debate on the values of web 2.0 as so far most of the
conversation on this topic has been children s safety on the internet .The target audience is fairly wide
however given that the article is from MediaNZ it is safe to assume that the principle demographic this
is aimed toward Media Studies students ,and teachers. Goodwin uses a range of strategies to fuel the
broader discussion on the values of web 2.0: Repeated words with the purpose of accustoming the
audience to the words, Target audience as a strategy with the purpose to gain a more informed and
critical discussion and structural placement with the purpose of highlighting the global and local
importance of web 2.0. The title is significant in revealing the authors intentions to make the article a
debate rather than something with a correct ,or incorrect answer. The question mark is interesting
because it is the first thing that the reader sees ,and it begins make them question what they already
know and don t know about this topic. It is already making them analyse where they stand on this
issue ,and why. I tend to think that making the given audience already think before they

On War Vs Vietnam War
War is not an independent phenomenon, but the continuation of politics by other mean
Writing about war nearly two centuries ago, Clausewitz did not attempt to derive a prescriptive theory
of warfare. He sought to identify universal truths about the phenomenon of war even as he emphasized
its dynamic and unpredictable nature. He understood that even as war s character and conduct
continues to evolve, the nature of war does not. Considered the chief military theorist of the western
world, his theories have withstood the test of time and are still adequate for explaining warfare in the
modern era.
His most famous premise is that war is merely the continuation of policy by other means . Clausewitz

Once identified, all energies are to be directed against it. He uses COG to enable the employment of
force and understanding of the enemy s conduct in war. Destroying the enemy s COG would render
the enemy powerless. Clausewitz believed that the first task in planning a campaign was to identify
the enemy s center of gravity (COG). He warns his readers that the failure to identify the COG
correctly could lead to faulty assumptions leading to wasted time /resources and an increase in risk.
We can relate this directly to what we know as operational art today and balancing ends, ways, and

  • 2. Tropical Rainforest In Brazil Long, long ago, in a lively and vibrant tropical rainforest in Brazil, there lived three birds. First, there was Kiwi the parrot. He was the most beautiful bird in all of Brazil. His colorful feathers and bright plumage never failed to turn heads. Next, there was Victor the peacock. His gorgeous royal blue color and alluring tail feathers attracted all of the females. Last, and probably least, there was Toko the toucan. He had dull, dark feathers, and a short, ugly beak. The key research question in this study is what are the long term effects of parental divorce on a child s relationship between their parents and their siblings? They took into consideration variables such as age of divorce, gender, and living arrangements so they can see what influence they may have on the present study results and compare it with previous studies. They gave 3 different surveys to 102 students with married parents and 107 students with divorced parents to be able to observe the differences in relationships between the two types of families. Some of the key findings of this study are that females actually have better adult relationships with their siblings and that divorce caused the children to have better relationships with their mother, and worse relationships with their father. They noted that the age when their parents got divorced was not a variable that affected whether or not they had a good relationship with their siblings. For the relationship between their mothers, it was better unless there was a variable of pre divorce or post divorce conflict between them. For their fathers, it showed that daughters had worse relationships with their fathers compared to sons. Living arrangements showed effects for both of the parents depending on which parent they lived with. He invites everyone to come in and have a talk with him. God promises to listen to us. God will answer us if we try and talk to him. Jeremiah 33:3. Some of us have seen prayers answered. It is something about having alone time with God something we should do often. I. Pray Daily God talks to us through His word every time we open up and read the Bible. We speak to God while we pray. Prayer is an important part of someone s life. We pray and sometimes we praise Him in songs that we sing. While we be at church or alone. (Philippians 1:3 4) When we face temptations, prayer can make us feel secure. (Deuteronomy 31:8) God will never leave our side, even though we leave his side. He will never fail us even though we fail Him. (1 Thessalonians 5:17) Praying without ceasing. Build a relationship with God. Your prayer life shows how your relationship with God is. It s never too much prayer time when you talk to the great almighty God that created you and died for you on Calvary s cross for our sins. God is our best friend our only friend that will not fail us. Praying without ceasing . Ceasing is to end, to halt, to stop. The Bible says we should keep on praying. • 24. Film Reflection On The Film Shottas Introduction For this assignment, I decided to reflect on the film Shottas . The film begins in the streets of Kingston, Jamaica home of Biggs and Wayne, the two main characters. They lived within a very dangerous and violent town, which drove them into their own violent lifestyle. As young men, how the movie starts off, they rob the local drug dealers of a gun for a premeditated robbery. The money allowed for them to purchase visas to come to Miami, Florida. While in the United States, as adults, the two continue their criminal activities leading them to be deported back to their home in Jamaica. Mad Max and Wayne, who was deported years before Biggs made his return, had already formed a striving extortion business. Wayne made it mandatory for all businesses in the Kingston area to pay money to operate there, or they will be killed. The Jamaica Police did not like Wayne or his Shoota crew, after the gruesome public murder the police then killed Wayne s brother. Later, the Congressmen offered to renew Wayne, Biggs, and Mad Max s visa to get them out of the country. Happily back in Miami, the three men aim to becoming the top drug dealers of the city, by extorting the new top drug dealer, Teddy. As they raise to power in Miami, they commit several forms of extortion, murder, and assaults. The film ends in extreme violence leading to the murders of Wayne and Mad Max, in a shootout with Teddy s crew. Biggs then murders Teddy and his girlfriend, while getting away with all his money and escapes. Scanning This movie has a lot to do with organized crime and how organizations typically build their way up to it. In the beginning, Biggs and Wayne were just acting as partners in low leveled criminal activities, however, with age came more discipline and a striving criminal organization named Shottas . The film focuses on different organized crimes, yet for this paper the focus will be on extortion. Extortion is, the act of obtaining property of another through threats of future harm. It seems to be a major issue within the movie, because it is the way the Shottas came to power in the underworld. Analysis When it comes to extortion, in my opinion, there are different levels when it comes to classifying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pride And Prejudice By Joe Wright The stories about the football player falling in love with the shy girl, the prince falling in love with a servant girl, or where the rich guy falls in love with a poor girl is most often seen in movies and books. These stories all present issue about how divided social classes are. Focus Pictures version of the famous Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice directed by Joe Wright and won numerous awards for best actress, production design, best motion picture, and many more. The trailer for Pride and Prejudice made it seem as though this was just going to be a love story between a rich man named Darcy, played by Matthew MacFadyen and a poor girl named Elizabeth Bennet, played by Keira Knightley, but overall it wasn t just that. Under that story lies an overwhelming amount of social conflict, ideas spreading from the feminist theory, to marriage, to most importantly social class. The story looks into the Bennet family and their situation. They are about to lose all their land, and society in their time is patriarchal based in that only eldest son receives entailment to their real estate. However, the real problem comes from the fact that Mr. Bennett has five daughters! Mr. and Mrs. Bennett marry their daughters off to men with power and money so they can ensure that they are financially secured. In this era women had no choice but to marry young, dues to the face they didn t have as many job opportunities. On top of that if they hadn t been married they would have been mocked. ... The other thing I found to be a little odd was that there was no ATM in the hotel. We needed cash to be able to pay our car driver back to the airport, and had to go across the street to one (which ended up being out of service) so that was a little inconvenient, but our driver was kind and helped us find one nearby. Afghan society refers to children born out of wedlock as a harami , Nana, her mom, emphasizes this to Mariam constantly. Later on in the novel, Laila, Mariam s sister wife has a harami herself. Nana always told her that she was an illegitimate person who would never have legitimate claim to the things other people had, things such as love, family, home, and acceptance (4). Not knowing any better, Mariam believes that she does not deserve the same personal rights as everyone because of her social status, even though she cannot control that. Nana blamed Mariam for the embarrassment, guilt, and shame of having a harami, making Mariam feel at fault. Nana makes Mariam feel lonely, undeserving, and insecure, because of her status, which she did not choose. • 42. Symbolism In Mirror Mirror Director Tarsem Singh decided in 2012 to put a fresh enjoyable twist on Walt Disney s animated classic by producing the film, Mirror Mirror. The center of attention shifted from the distinct personalities of the seven dwarfs to the outshining temperament of the haughty, over the top Evil Queen played by Julia Roberts. The Evil Queen in this film does not seem so vile but rather more of an excessively excited cougar desperately attempting to get the attention of the handsome young Prince to win his hand in marriage and his fortune, which she frantically needs to cover the debts acquired by her lavish lifestyle. She outshines our main hero Snow White and makes the film what it seems like: a comedic composition intended for a few good laughs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her rather childish personality traits such as the intense emotional outbursts and overreactions suggest severely stunted emotional growth. Her anger issues clearly count as one of the eminent qualities Ravenna possessed; she does not excuse disappointment easily, even if her own brother appeared as the one at fault of committing the mistake. Regardless of her cruel nature, Ravenna appears equipped with the capability of affection to some degree which she validates through her tears as she recalls the story of how she and her siblings had commandingly endured isolationism from their mother during her childhood. This Evil Queen prevails as more than a mere villainess. Her sundry emotions and attitudes make her a deeply complex character for an antagonist. Media analysis professors and scholars examined the film Snow White and the Huntsman and uncovered a multitude of opinions, speculations, and dynamic ideas on which to talk. Numerous authors of articles focused on the characteristics and qualities of the main hero, Snow White. In the book The Happiness Illusion: How the Media Sold Us a fairytale, a collection of a multitude of contributions concerning deep analysis of fairy tale themes, Luke Hockley notes that By contrast, Snow White s power comes not from her appearance but instead from her courage and bravery in acts such as escaping the castle, ...
