Comparing Poems Power Plant-Bops And The Seedling
The story s last paragraph and the poem s last stanza contribute to the development of each text s
theme because they sum up the idea of good fruit of the spirit and perfectness. For example, in
the last stanza, The Seedling tells how both sun and showers help you through hard times, much
like how people of good fruit and people of bad fruit influence and help a situation. It also say in
lines 31 and 32 you will rise to light and beauty. Virtue s fair, unfading flowers. Similar to how
when you rise to Heaven you rise to beauty and Heaven is one place flowers go unfaded. The last
paragraph of Power Plant Bots mentions the thought that if only perfect water is consumed, the
plant would become a perfect plant. There are also some differences... Show more content on

In Power Plant Bots , the last paragraph contributes to the stories theme by going in depth about
the three types of Plant Bots, all while telling a life lesson. In The Seedling the last stanza had a
more hidden theme rather than out in the open. The story told how a seedling was in a dark
place, but was determined to do the best it could. Soon later it lifted a leaflet out of its darkness
and ito the light, but the last stanza says that the sun and showers will help you through
lonesome and struggling hours, till you raise to light abd beauty, virtue s fair unfading beauty. I
soon realized the story was refering to someone in a dark place in their life, but decided to not
let that stop them from doing their best. This person soon brought another person (leaflet) out of
their dark place and the leaflet called others, and the others heard and wanted to follow and so
the seedling showed them the way. To me, showed them the way were words that stuck out to
me, and I read it as they took them to a good place (church) away from the dark place and let
them see the light (God). I think the sun and showers refer to good fruit of the spirit(sun) and bad
fruit of the spirit as well (showers). Although I see the themes very similar, the way the theme was
presented in the last paragraph/stanza made me have a different perspective that made me reread the

True Passion: Diana Gu s Experience of Success Mathematics is not for one type of person: not
only for the nerdy and weird outcasts, not only for the white male, not only for those who are not

inane solutions never to be used after the discovery. Mathematics is not what people think it is; it is
not one field, one theme, one subject. Mathematics is everything. Look around, with clear eyes, and
you will see the art of mathematics everywhere. Dr. Diana Gu, the founder of MTY Academy, an
extremely successful institute in the Austin community, and long time, inspirational professor at
the Texas State University, looks at the world and sees numbers. She sees passion and dedication
and motivation. She sees intensity and zeal and excitement. Explaining that mathematics is

The External Environment Of Walmart
There are 7 segment of the external environment that the firms need to understand and analyse
which are demographic, economic, political or legal, sociocultural, technological, global and
sustainable physical environment. However, some of the firms fail to understand the importance of
external environment. This situation happen because they do not understand the external
environmentwill bring an impact on them as a whole. They consider that concentrating on the
internal is taken for granted. It is because they feel comfortable with leading and managing what is
happening right now. The example of firms that did not understand their external environmentis
Walmart. Walmart violates the Clean Water Act and at the same time it damages the environment.
Therefore, Walmart had to pay a fine of $81 million. If the firm failure to understand the external...

Management Plan for Caracal
[pic]
Caracal is an alternative rock band based in Singapore which has been around since 2006. The
band consists of five members, KC Meals on vocals, Henry Louis Velge on the bass guitar,
Gabriel De Souza on the lead guitar, Field Teo on the rhythm guitar and Martin Kong on drums.
Since their debut into the local scene in 2006, Caracal has gained fame among the locals in
Singapore and is considered as one of the few bands to succeed alongside The Great Spy
Experiment. Currently, Caracal has signed a contract with Straits Records their type of label is
still indie , which is a local ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, making sure that media attention on the band is closely monitored while sending press
releases to the media informing about upcoming performances and public appearances. Lastly,
the manager has to acquire the help of a publicist or if not needed, publicise the band as it adds
value to the band by setting up CD sales, getting more bookings for shows and interviews.
Opportunities for Caracal is that being based in Singapore, the market is small and is easier to
break into the music scene and be one of the famous bands around. On the other hand, the
limitation of being in Singapore is that the music scene is not as recognized and huge such as
companies in the United States of America where talent scouts are everywhere looking for new
talent every other day for their record labels. Therefore, an action plan must be set for the goals,
aims and objectives of both the band and the manager must be put into place. Firstly, with the
band flying off overseas for the Canadian Music Festival in Toronto, press releases must be
printed and sent out to the media involved in the music festival. Not stopping there, more press
releases and also portable info packs should be printed out so that when attending artists
networking conferences in Canada, the United States of America or in fact anywhere around the
world, the manager is able to promote their band to A list record labels or scouts. Networking is an

Soft Bone Fractures
The argument still takes place among parents as to whether or not weak or soft bones result in
more fractures in children of young ages. Lack of nutrition in a child s overall health can result
from soft bones due to missing core vitamins and other necessary nutrients. The well known
childhood disease known as Rickets is the deficiency of bonemineralization that is mostly
recognizable at the growth plate. (The Lancet; October 2003, Wharton, Bishop) Rickets occurs
when the ossification process where cartilage is transformed into bone does not occur which results
in the softening of the bone at the end.
Soft bones are due to the lack of the ossification process taking place correctly, where the bone is
hardened. Bones that are soft as a result of those deficient in calcium, phosphate, or vitamin are
more commonly adults suffering from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fractures were consistent with failure of the bones to handle the load of falling or accidents,
and they can be distinguished from fractures seen in non accidental trauma. Therefore, in this study
Vitamin D did not pose as a major cause of the fractures in infants or toddlers. The data researched
and presented in the Pediatric Radiology Journal states, that there is not any comparable
information that poor mineralization in infants results in easier fracturing. However, lack of or
reduced bone mineralization can result in fracturing of bones in elderly people and older children.
Nonetheless, Rickets is not a major contributing cause of fractures in young infants and toddlers.
Although, it is still beneficial to consume appropriate amounts of Vitamin D, Calcium, and
phosphorous in daily diets for an overall nutritional health regardless the age of the individual and
the results of studies regarding load bearing

Sociological Imagination Research Paper
Mykaela Barr Social imagination is basically a quality of mind that helps one comprehend history
and biology and the similarities amongst the two throughout society. It is a human s capability to
link their personal experiences to society and to a larger degree, historical forces. Sociological
imagination lets a person question behaviors and habits that seem ordinary. It is a human s ability
to think outside of the familiar habits people make in everyday life. Sociological imagination
involves understanding the fact that social outcomes are influenced by culture, history, social
actions, etc. Therefore, the things people do or engage in are shaped by the values they have, the
way people around them act and the values of those people. Sociological

Darkness at Noon Essay
The Russian Revolution and the purges of Leninist and Stalinist Russia have spawned a literary
output that is as diverse as it is voluminous. Darkness at Noon, a novel detailing the infamous
Moscow Show Trials, conducted during the reign of Joseph Stalin is Arthur Koestler s commentary
upon the event that was yet another attempt by Stalin to silence his critics. In the novel, Koestler
expounds upon Marxism, and the reason why a movement that had as its aim the regeneration of
mankind, should issue in its enslavement and how, in spite of its drawbacks, it still held an appeal
for intellectuals. It is for this reason that Koestler may have attempted not to solve but to expose the
shortcomings of this political system and by doing so... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rubashov s character vacillates between embracing the individualistic traits of his nature to the
pull exerted on him by the indoctrination of the ideology of the greater good, even at the expense
of individual liberty and freedom. Rubashov, during his time in prison though shows a propensity
to acknowledge the failure of the glorious tenets of the Revolution, for he has seen the horror of
the totalitarian system in the purges carried out by the party leaders under the pretext of filtering
traitors. In an acknowledgement of the folly of his and the Party s ways, Rubashov states ...we are
doing the work of prophets without their gift. We replaced vision by logical discussion... and it is
this acceptance of their shortcomings that shows the transformation of Rubashov. Rubashov, though
a committed Marxist, during his time in the prison seems vexed by the notion that the end justifies
the means because he has himself seen that the final result is often not what is seen in the present
moment but the truth that becomes apparent only in the light of retrospective thought. Rubashov
realizes that it is only history that can pass judgment and thus, the shooting of B. and thirty
others by No. 1 will be decided later He who is in the wrong must pay; he who is in the right will
be absolved. That is the law of historical credit;

Plasmasphere Essay
Plasmasphere is a highly dynamics region which can expand and shrink within hours or less during
geomagnetic active times. Previous studies showed that the plasmasphere plays an important role
in energization and/or loss mechanism for electrons in the radiation belt. Therefore, constructing a
plasmapause (the outermost region of plasmasphere) model is key to study the correlation between
radiation belts and plasmasphere in details. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis
for plasmapause modelling by comparing the performances of different machine learning
techniques using different parameter sets. Particularly, this study examines techniques like bagging,

2017 has already existed, this project s major goal is to apply the machine learning techniques
learned in ASEN 6337 and identify the best machine learning tool for this modelling issue. This
hence can serve as a launchpad for the next project that can further improve the plasmapause model
by combining different machine learning techniques. In the long run, this project strives to provide
a comprehensive study on the current machine learning techniques available and determine the best
option for this application. This information can hence be used to further improve the plasmapause.
With a better plasmapause model available, the scientists in the community can study and thus
understand the dynamics of the energetic electrons in the radiation belt and the role of
plasmasphere for the energization and loss of the electrons in the radiation belts. Hence, a better
and more accurate space weather forecast can be built and this allows us to take mitigation
measures prior to the storm events; it will hence help reduce money and/or life loss, especially
during the huge storms events like the Carrington event. This paper will describe the background
that includes the previous plasmapause models, data instrument as well as prior attempts to tackle
this issue, the methodology used that consists of a detailed explanation on how the inputs and
responses (plasmapause locations) were derived, the outcomes of the comprehensive analysis,
conclusion and the

Ecological Theory And Social Work
Hospital social work is time limited and the focus could easily be more directed at problems rather
than solutions. Patients enter the hospital with a physical problem and desire to leave with
answers. In this type of environment the focus can be on the physical ailment rather than additional
factors that may be contributing to physical distress. Environmental factors can promote well
being or become a barrier to wellness. An ecological perspective provides a lens to view patient
systems in a broader context.
Ecological perspective is a useful framework in which to view the individual in context with their
environment. According to Rogers (2013) ecological theory was originally developed by a
psychologist, Urie Bronfenbrenner in 1979 (p. 42). A fundamental tenet of ecological theory is that
people are actively involved with their environments and their perceptions of the environment
significantly affects their well being (p. 42).
Ecological theory describes four levels of the environment that interconnect and impact people.
Moving from the most intimate individual system to a broader inclusion you can identify the many
systems that play a role in individual s lives and well being. These interactions could be harmonious
and create homeostasis or could be disharmonious and cause stress.
First, the microsystem level encompasses roles and relationships in a person s immediate
environment (Rogers, 2013, p. 43). For example, Maria s relationships and home living situation

What issues did the learning processes outlined in your answers to questions (1) and (2) raise for
you? What barriers or critical incidents did you face/experience? And how did you cope with them?
For the openness and honesty about my initial intent and exception as well as my doubts and
uncertainty or lack of knowledge or inadequate preparation. With respect to barriers, students should
differentiate between internal and external.
Internal:
Negative: It was the first time to analysis a annual report of a company, a annual report have over
one hundred pages. Too much data and hard to collect and classify them, that was one of the reason
of slowing down the working progress.
External:
Negative: I have to take the responsibility of the living expenses including the tuition fee, so that I
work for two part time job like a full time worker, time is hard to manage for me to come to school
and finish the assignment. Moreover, in the question three, there was require the knowledge of
finance, that was studied at first year, much more time spent into the reminding of that knowledge.
Positive: We have a study group formed by few classmates, to encourage each other and motivate to

Analysis Of The Gods Must Be Crazy
Based on the movie, The Gods Must Be Crazy , the people of the Kalahari are able to sustain the
elements of PERMA in their lives. By doing this they can have a happy, contented, and satisfying
live amongst their people. The acronym PERMA stands for the people of the Kalahari being able
to achieve positive emotions, engagement in activities, good relationships with others, a sense of
meaning, and identifiable accomplishments in their lives. For starters, the Kalahari people
demonstrate positive emotions by being able to obtain food and water each day. Positive emotions

If there weren t any good relationships with others, then the family would have no need to work
together or talk to each other. While the fourth letter of the acronym stands for a sense of
meaning. This is demonstrated through them completing tasks that help feed their family
group. One example of this is shown when the hunters in the group apologize to the deer for
having to kill it and telling it that they must feed their family. They also demonstrate a sense of
meaning by showing younger members of their family group how to get water through means
such as squeezing the shavings of a tuba. This is trying to ensure the survival of their family
group not only in the present but in the future as well. The final letter of the acronym stands for
accomplishments in their lives. This is done through setting up a goal to find water and laying
out leaves the day beforehand to collect dew drops the following day. By planning this out it
allows for the people of the Kalahari to accomplish their goal of finding water in their
environment that has a scarce supply of it. Another goal of theirs that is set each day is finding
food. This Is accomplished by hunting and gathering. By being able to kill an animal, collect
berries, find tree roots, or catch bugs it will give these people a sense of accomplishment in their
lives. The biggest goal I believe they are accomplishing is being able to survive. We can see that
they are being able to accomplish this goal because

Guilt In Sophocles Oedipus The King
Remorse, the feeling of deep guilt and regret for the commitment of a crime or atrocity, is a major
element in classical Greek tragedies. The resulting anguish that the character feels enhances the
magnitude of the catastrophe, as the atrocity is transformed into a powerful emotion bringing it to a
relatable level. In Sophocless Oedipus Rex, retold by John Bennett and Moira Kerr, and Antigone
translated by E.F. Watling, the reader witnesses how different aspects of each play contribute
towards the final tragic ending. While both Creon and Oedipus exhibit feelings of remorse,
Oedipus displays a higher degree of contrition as a result of his hamartia, his thanatos and the
impact that family and secondary characters have towards his anagnorisis.... Show more content on

Creon is now conscious that he has, unintentionally, killed his only son. The chorus conveys his
feelings of anguish as they say by the burden that proves too well the guilt, no other man s but
his alone (Sophocles 15). However it is only the words of his dying wife . . . and with her dying
breath cursed you, their slayer that make him realize the wrongdoings of his actions. It is then
when he recognizes that, had he not been stubborn and prideful, his son and wife would still be
alive. It is the shepherd s proclamation about the baby he had left all those years ago that make
Oedipus realize the effects of his actions. The story says, And the shepherd told his story . . .
given the child of Laius to a messenger, who would take the baby to be raised by the king of
Corinth (Bennett Kerr 163). This is where he begins to feel those feelings of remorse and despair
and sentences himself to a life in exile and blindness because he had killed his real father while
also marrying his own mother, eventually bearing children of his own with

section, a billeting section, a public works department with KBR, construction oversight,
movement control, DFAC operations, an emergency services, and human resource. Within these
areas were responsibilities such as supervision of the camp dining facility, operating a badging
section, and running a movement control cell for all operations leaving our AO. In addition to this
it quickly became clear that his role as a Garrison NCOIC for the masses was more realistically a
landlord for over one thousand tenants.
The NCOIC position was unique in Camp Bucca. There were over four Lieutenant Colonels, 3
Command Sergeant Majors, and 5 First Sergeant that all lived and worked on less than sixteen
acres. SFC Sousa s daily operational tempo was consumed with challenges ranging from advising
on logistic support requirements for life support on the base to finding out who he should talk to
about establishing a Department of Defense Activity Address Code (DoDAAC) for this new
installation. In addition to this, he became the subject matter expert for Morale and Welfare
Recreation (MWR) matters.
One of the first major challenges was the establishment of a DoDAAC. Prior to his arrival at Camp

Novartis s Transparency Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Introduction to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a measure of a business s impacts on society, both
positive and negative. Pharmaceutical companies in particular are held to a high ethical standard by
the public due to the nature of their products. Novartis, the third largest drug and biotech company
in the world, aspires to be a model of ethics and philanthropy in the industry. The company uses its
size and global prominence to set a high CSR standard for all businesses. This paper examines some
of Novartis s most recent projects that contribute to the company s respected reputation, but also
investigates lawsuits against Novartis and shortcomings with its transparency, both of which the
administration continually fails to address.
Recent Philanthropic Initiatives
Novartis has increased its budget for charitable healthcare over the last few years. The company
developed entire departments to oversee charity projects, raise awareness of diseases, and increase
accessibility to its products. These projects focus on providing both preventative and treatment
based healthcare to low income populations.

Richard Wilbur s The Death Of A Toad
Richard Wilbur s poem, The Death of a Toad, powerfully describes the death of a toad chewed and
clipped by a power mower in a gardening accident. Wilbur extends the incident to be metaphoric
and symbolic of death and our inability to prevent it. The poem reflects on the appearance and
thoughts that even a toad might have when approaching death. As the speaker ponders over the
incident it becomes clear that the toads death is seen as more than just death itself but rather this
mystical journey from start to finish.
The poem is divided into three stanzas, each with six lines of varying lengths. The form and
balance of the stanzas create a visual and formal precision. Each stanza tells of the events in a

В· His Power Base Factionalism was the Idea that if a member of the party discusses ideas
which did not have the majority vote by the party. There were 2 main Ideas about the N.E.P. ,
these were the left wing and the right wing. The left wing said it should go and the right wing
said it should stay as it would aid Industrialisation, as it allowed free trade to sell goods on the
open market which would give money into the open market. Stalin s powerbase was due to him
being the general secretary, who was in charge of recruiting people, so when the Lenin enrolment

Trotsky s intellect. This was skill on Stalin s part, but also a mistake on Trotsky s behalf, as he
had paid no attention previously to Stalin, calling him a grey blur Permanent Revolution was the
idea that Russia would change, but at the same time help other countries to change and receive

Essay about J.D. Salinger s Development of Holden Caulfield
Many authors put their own life as inspiration towards their works and characters. J.D. Salinger s
character development of Holden Caulfield has been affected by Salinger s complications in his
school life, devastating past relationships, and overwhelming traumatic events during his pre The
Catcher in the Rye adulthood. J.D. Salinger s school life had many significant events that are
shown through Holden Caulfield in The Catcher in the Rye. In the novel, the 17 year old Holden
Caulfield leaves Pencey Prep. In chapter one, Holden states ...I d just got back from New York
with the fencing team. I was the goddam manager of the fencing team. Very big deal. We d gone in

When Salinger attended McBurney School, he tried to conform so he can fit (one way was
calling himself Jerry). While at this school, he also acted in plays and wrote the school s
newspaper. This is shown through Holden as he doesn t try to conform (which could be
representing Salinger s regret to try and conform), hates phoniness (as acting as a character [for
example: in a play] is considered being phony), and likes writing (as shown in the beginning of
chapter one as he tells the audience his story and how he admires his writer brother, D.B.).
Salinger himself stated, My boyhood was very much the same as that of the boy in the book,
and it was a great relief telling people about it (interview by Shirlie Blaney). Salinger s many
failed relationships in his lives, from his parents to love interests, are hinted throughout Holden s
life and his character. Salinger s father was from a Jewish descent while his mother was from a
Catholic descent; however Salinger didn t know about this until his bar mitzvah. Salinger had
problematic issues with his father like how his father basically disapproved of his son in general
(for example: participation in plays). It was even described that J.D. skipped his father s funeral
and later stopped eating meat (stated by www.nndb.com). Salinger s relationship with his parents
were broken because of the trust broken by his mother and the

High Fat and Butter Cake Recipes
High Fat or Butter Cakes
High fat cakes are made by using creaming method. Solid fat, usually butter, is creamed with
sugar until it becomes light, pale and expands in volume. This procedure incorporates air into the
mixture, and during baking air cells spread and leaven the cake. After creaming fat, eggs are
mixed into the fat which emulsifies the mixture. It is possible to add whole eggs or just egg yolks,
and in that case, remaining egg whites are mixed separately into meringue and folded into the
mixture at the end. At the end flour and other ingredients are added.
Pound Cake
Pound cake is type of cake traditionally made out of same quantities of ingredients: a pound of
butter, flour, eggs and sugar. There are some other names for this kind of cake that occurred in
different parts of the world Madeira cake in Britain, quatre quarts in France, Eischwerkuchen in
Germany.

The New Deal A Good Deal
Was the New Deal a Good Deal?
Hunter Simmons
The New Deal, introduced to get America out of the Great Depression, was a good deal. It
brought the US out of a massive hole of poverty by creating jobs and creating regulations to help
the economy stabilize. The Stock Market Crash of 1929 can be blamed for the start of the Great
Depression, after millions went into panic when their investments fell through. After Woodrow
Wilson failed to help the working class in a worsening economy, Americans looked for new hope in
Franklin D. Roosevelt, elected in 1933, to help them come out of this terrible depression. He
responded by creating numerous administrations and programs over the course of 5 years. These
programs were designed to create unskilled labor and support the poor to help stimulate the
economy again. His plan succeeded up to the second world war, where economy started to boom
when a higher work force was needed. The first step Roosevelt took to create economic stability
was to create jobs. Administrations such as the Public Works Administration created millions of
jobs for the unemployed, including building many bridges, hospitals, schools, and more (New Deal
Public Works Administration projects). The Civilian Conservation Corps also created unskilled
labor such as planting trees and building state parks, which in turn helped the environment and
conserve resources. By lowering the unemployment rate, Roosevelt helped the US get back on their
feet. Some say that

Enlightenment Historiography Essay
Did Enlightenment historiography neglect history?
Arthur Marwick in his Fundamentals of History suggests that when studying history it is important
that there is a distinction made between History and The Past, the former referring to the
knowledge produced by historians about the past together with the teaching of that knowledge.
Marwick states that the latter is just everything that actually happened, whether known, or written,
about by historians or not . Enlightenment historiography is particularly interesting because it
shifted the way that historians look at and study history, specifically how society started to prioritise
human rationality over faith. Previously, traditional Christian historians would account every major
event or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This way of studying the enlightenment was criticised initially because it is hard to understand the
progress of enlightenment without any social or geographical context of how the path was paved
for great thinkers of the eighteenth century. Darnton suggested that perhaps new methodologies,
that would position the enlightenment into different geographical and economic perspectives as
well as consider how it was transmitted through media in eighteenth century France, needed to be
developed and practiced. This suggests that perhaps the way that historians such as Peter Gay
studied the enlightenment was far too simplistic and placed more importance on the writings of the
great thinkers than on the actual progress of the enlightenment during that time period. Although
this shows that some enlightenment historians ignored the social, geographical and economic
context of the enlightenment, it does not necessarily mean that they ignored History. This essay
agrees with Marwick in the sense that History should be defined as the bodies of knowledge
produced about history and should not be confused with the past. These enlightenment historians
focused specifically on History by looking at just the writings of philosophes such as Voltaire and
Kant, and rather Neglected The Past by not looking at social perspectives and

pencil was used to make a small coil by wrapping the copper wire against it. The coil was placed
in a crucible afterwards. Sufficient powder sulfur was added in. The crucible was then covered

Civil Rights Events In the past previous civil rights events. I believe to have significance on the
people; a social, moral, and ethical way in American history today. I have found two; the first is
on Martin Luther King, who had a mission in his life for preaching for peace and also marched
in Washington to come together as one race in a united front (Cyr, A. I., 2015). He was a
Southern Christian, black African man, who preached to stop the racial relations and end the
violence back then; with his speech, I have a dream. It was in the 1960s when this was happening.
At that time, the president, in office was John F. Kennedy who actively supported the civil rights

Vanderbilt was an entrepreneur who attempted to break monopolies in the steamboat industry.
Vanderbilt tried to run those who used government subsidies out of business by charging less and
providing better service. However, from other perspectives, his methods were immoral. Because of
this, the question of whether Vanderbilt was a hero or a villain arose. Even so, it can be seen that
Vanderbilt helped the economy of the steamship industry. Vanderbilt used different methods that

One Nations Addiction to Supermarket Monoculture Essay
Throughout the years there has become an ever increasing gap in knowledge in multiple aspects of

Sadly a larger proportion of individuals reach for the potato chips and other processed foods.
While this may not seem like a big deal, the children of those individuals who watch reach for
those foods with each trip to the store begin to pick them up themselves. This causes an issue within
the emerging generation. It is believed that more agricultural teachings in schools would help to get
families to eat more fruits and vegetables.
A study done by Meinen and Friese (et al.) studied how increased interaction with gardens
increased the likelihood of children to try new fruits and vegetables. In this study 28 schools were
chosen and randomly assigned to receive a garden or to be a control. Of the schools that received a
garden most of the students had both a greater understanding of agriculture and how to grow their
own food as well as were choosing fresh fruit over potato chips more often than not. Perhaps the
most shocking result of the experiment that parents of these students noted was that their children
were more likely to try something new, some even asked to get fruits from the supermarket
(Meinen 2012). While this is one step in the correct direction it is not completely there, there is
still a lot of work that needs to be done in fear of what could happen without it.
There are many arguments given to why students need more

Breakfast is the most essential mealis spoken by every mother, yet the reasons why we should eat

To correct all misunderstandings, breakfast indeed helps us control healthy diets and even lose
weight. How? Technically, skipping breakfast means your sugar level in blood drops even lower
than the required standard. As a result, it will trigger your hunger and you will have less energy,
which means that by lunch time you would be starving to death, and feel like you can eat a
whole cow. As a consequence, you would end up overeating. What s about if we just ensure that
we do not over consume for the rest of the day? Admittedly, for that case, you might lose some
weight, but according to www. prevention.com, a reward of longterm skipping breakfast is to
gain dangerous belly fat in return. For girls, it is believed that not having a regular eating habit
can critically contribute to a risk of menstrual cycle irregularity. In order not to be like this, you
should eat breakfast regularly to make your body feel nourished and

PREPARING YOUR HORSE FOR SHOW DAY Essay
In the world, there are approximately 75,000,000 horses and 350 breeds of horses that can be

be used as show horses or a family pet. Show horses require many hours of daily preparation in
order to be competitive in the show ring. I have grown up with horses my whole life. I watched
my mother show horses and followed in her footsteps. The most important aspects of show day are

In order to be muscular the horse needs proper exercise. Backing and trotting are the main
exercises that the trainer should concentrate on. Backing builds up a horse s hind end, while
trotting creates even muscles on each side of the horse. Exercising helps the horse in many ways.
It doesn t only give it firm and sculpt muscles; it affects its overall health too.
Shampooing and conditioning the horse is extremely important. The horse should be beautiful
and spotless. Never put conditioner in the horse s mane if the horse is going to have its mane
braided or banded for a show because the bands will slip out. There are many different braiding
styles for the horse s mane, there is a hunter braid, a running braid, and a continental braid
(Raspberryridge.com). The horse s mane can even be banded. Horse s manes will differ from
horse to horse, based on the size of the horse, how bulky the neck is, and what it looks like with
the overall structure and build of the horse. Quarter horses and thoroughbreds look better with short
manes. Arabians and gaited horses prefer longer manes (Baker).
A stripping blade is a good tool to use to cut the mane. The stripping blade has sharp teeth and a
wooden handle. It is used similarly to how a hair stylist uses a razor. Just hold a small chunk of
hair tight in one hand, and slice downwards with the stripping blade in the other (Baker). A week

Humans are social and diversely interactive beings. As a result, there is the frequent practice of
touching during conversation. This touching may be the conscious decision of individuals, as well
as simply a spontaneous form of expression or response. An operational definition of touching
would involve the initiation of physical contact between two individuals; for example, shaking
hands (Fowler and Fowler, 1969). A conversation involves communication between two individuals
by word of mouth (Fowler and Fowler, 1969). Touching as a complement of conversation is very

Apparatus/Instruments A three section Record Sheet (see Appendix) was designed for the
purpose of the study. The sheet had spaces to record the number of hand and body touches of the
three types of dyads (F F, M M, and M F) as well as some demographics В– the location, date and
time the observation was made. Also a timing device (e.g. watch or stopwatch) was used for the
purpose of the one minute period of observation. These devices however were selected based on
what was available to individual researcher.
Procedure
Each student of the PS 11A class was given a Record Sheet (see Appendix) for the purpose of
recording their observations. Using a haphazard sampling approach, the students unobtrusively
observed the three sets of dyads (F F, M M and M F) for one minute, while they were in
conversation on the university campus. The number of hands and body touches were recorded for
each set of dyads during the minute. Examples of hand touches include hand to hand, hand to face,
hand to leg, hand to shoulder. Examples of body touches include body to body, kissing and
hugging.) For the purpose of establishing inter rater reliability, only new touches that took place in
the minute were recorded. Accordingly, if the dyads were touching before the minute of
observation started, this was not counted or recorded. Also, students, during tutorial sessions were
guided as to how to count record touches. This was done through role play exercises where the

Emotional Analysis Of Dodge Ram Trucks
And on the 8th day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, I need a caretaker. So,
God made a farmer. These words from Paul Harvey rang from the home TVs of millions of people
during the 2013 Super Bowl broadcasting. As the 2 minute commercial played, it became one of
the most memorable Super Bowl commercials ever created. Dodge Ramproduced this commercial
not only to advertise their trucks, but also depict the American farmer. Though it didn t
advertise their trucks directly, the Dodge commercial indirectly advertises through describing
the qualities of a farmer in order to show the comparable qualities of their Ram trucks. This is no
ordinary commercial, and it is successful because of its logical, emotional, and ethical appeal to
the audience. The fact that every American watching the commercial relies on farmers gives the
audience a logical way to relate to the importance of farmers. Just like our country relies on
farmers for food, clothing, and other products, the common farmer relies on Dodge Ram trucks
to help them carry out their day to day tasks. The most important task of a farmer being to
provide for the people in their families and well beyond. In order to captivate the audience and

Jon Krakauer s Into Thin Air
The particular descent ahead of those on the hill on May 10, 1996, resulted in the greatest loss of
life in the history of mountaineering on Everest. As news spread of the nine deaths (including that
of Hall, who spoke to his wife in New Zealand by radiophone as he lay stranded in a snowstorm on
the summit ridge), a barrage of questions resounded: What went wrong? Why was the approaching
storm ignored? And, most emphatically, why are tourists with more money than expertise being
taken up Everest in the first place?
Jon Krakauer was one of the survivors, and in Into Thin Air he relives the storm and its aftermath,
trying to answer those questions. As he sees it, essentially nothing went wrong, at least in terms of
the storm, which struck with little warning. Instead, the root of the problem lies in the famous
explanation George Mallory gave when asked why he wanted to climb the mountain, an explanation
that still holds true, albeit with a slight amendment. People climb Mount Everest because it and the
money is there.

The Art World Is A Forever Changing System
The art world is a forever changing system, with new ideas and concepts constantly emerging.
Marcel Duchamp, working in a world where art was focused heavily on pleasing the eye, is seen
to emerge with a new idea that aimed to challenge this retinal approach that was expected of art
during this time. Duchamp would call this new approach the readymade .
This essay will
discuss how Duchamp used the readymade, specifically his 1913 piece Bicycle Wheel, to move
away from the focus on the visual and shift attention to a focus on the conceptual. Likewise, this
essay will explore how Duchamp s readymade has influenced artists such as Jeff Koons, who
similarly incorporated the conceptual focus of the readymade within his own 1981 87 readymade...

Duchamp is seen to use the word retinal as a means of critically referring to avant garde painting,
as it was apparent to him that the modern artist was becoming too immersed in a focus of pleasing
the viewer on a visual level, that they had neglected to stimulate the mind. As stated by Duchamp
himself, he wanted to put painting again at the service of the mind , and thus his creation of the
readymade emerged. The readymade consisted of a simple, unaltered, everyday object(s) that was
presented as a work of art. Through the creation of the readymade, Duchamp undermined these pre
determined aesthetic expectations of art as he started to exhibit his readymade pieces in high art
exhibitions. From this point onwards, Duchamp s artistic approach was changed via his re
development of common, everyday items and through the means of choosing and repositioning an
object, Duchamp was able to transform an everyday item into a work of art. Thus, the readymade
can be seen to be driven by Duchamp s interest in shifting attention away from the object itself, and
instead refocusing this attention on the creative relationship that he recognised between the artist,
the work, the world and the audience. Duchamp was strong in his belief that The creative act is not
performed by the artist alone. The spectator brings the work into contact with the external world
through interpretation . Duchamp s

Hepzibah Pyncheon In The House Of The Seven Gable
At first glance, Hepzibah Pyncheon looks like a cruel old lady due to her nearsightedness and
heavy eyebrows. Even when she was young her features were frightening, but now with age and
grief, her appearance is even more ghastly ( Three Women in The House of the Seven Gables:
Hepzibah ). She actually has a heart of gold and is one of the nicest ladies one might ever meet.
For the last thirty years, Hepzibah has been living in the house of seven gables by herself, which
caused her brain to impregnated with the dry rot of its timbers (Hawthorne ). This has resulted in
her being withdrawn from society and developing a few strange qualities as well as sadness due
to lack of human contact. Her body now reflects the environment she is living in, the decaying
house. Even when she leaves the house with her brother, while on the train, she begins to have
flashes of the house and it seemed to be at every spot she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

She begins to help with the shop, cleaning the house and regrowing the lifeless garden outside
right away ( Three Women in The House of the Seven Gables: Hepzibah ). Within days of her
arrival, it is said that the house with seven gables began to transform and a new life was brought
out in it. The growing dust seemed to stop accumulating, the rotting timbers seemed to cease, and
the pungent smell seemed to fly away. Hawthorne states that Phoebe presents was an uplifting
spirit for Clifford and Hepzibah and allowed them to break free from the depression that had
captured them (Hawthorne). Her kind heart reflected in her hours at the shop, as she was polite to
each customer and maintained the store with ease. When Clifford refused to allow Hepzibah to
care for him due to her unsightly nature, Phoebe became his nurse. Her presence in the home

Lowering The Voting Age Essay
Teenagers are the future of the world and should be given the right to make decisions that will
impact their futures too. Lowering the voting age will be a great benefit to the United States and
16 year olds have a better understanding about the system than 18 year olds due to the education
they are receiving making them a little more mature to make the right decision to vote. The benefits
of reducing the age to 16 are the advantages teens get of learning how the votingsystem functions at
an early age. Lowering the voting age is a very argumental subject but teens will become more
interested in voting since it will be a big deal if they are allowed to vote. It is crucial for a teenager

Many of them go for a driver s permit test and are eligible in the next six months to pass the
driving license exam and most of them pass. If they are old enough to be eligible to drive a
vehicle they are old enough to give an opinion on politics and vote. If they are mature enough to
drive a car, then voting shouldn t be much of a challenge (Hernandez A. 1). Teens are able to take
responsibility, like voting, more serious if it will have an impact in their life.
Teens are more smarter than what they get credit for. 16 year olds can register in the military
which comes with the idea of young people and their vulnerability to die while out in combat.

Analysis Of Tupac Shakur s Song, Dear Mama
The struggles of a single mother is not something everyone will fully understand. In the late 90 s
there was huge poverty and gang violence in Los Angeles, California where Tupac grew up. Many
of his songs reflect on how his experience was in this environment. In Tupac Shakur s song, Dear
Mama found in album, Me Against the World, for a single motherto show love for her child takes a
huge struggle, especially when it was a time where gang violence was really high and fathers
would leave their children. Throughout the song Tupac uses imagery to capture the feeling of pain
and struggle and fluently illustrate the moments where he was young, until he grew up and
realized the love his mother gave him. Dear Mama is also portrayed as a... Show more content on

The song implements on the hardships a mother will face for the growth of their son because
love is what keeps them going. The love a mother will have for her son means that even though
they don t have a father figure around to show them how to grow up, they will always have their
mothers to teach them the way of life through a woman s perspective. In the song, Dear Mama ,
Tupac mentions, For a woman it ain t easy trying to raise a man, you always was committed and
he is able to foreshadow the hardships his mother had to face while Tupac was growing up
without a father. At the age of seventeen Tupac, was always caught up in drama with his mom.
Since Tupac was young he got involved into the hustle and was left in the streets where he
basically had to risk he life every day. He never realized that being pushed into the streets would
make him think about his mother or even worry about her. Tupac reflects upon the behavior he had
during the time and how much stress he would add on his mother s shoulders, but little did he
know that his mother would be there for him regardless. Tupac Shakur s mom was committed to his
son and no matter the troubles he caused and faced she would be there for him to either help him
out or at least hear him when he was not feeling good. She was a single mother on welfare, but she

Why Do Families Have A Coat Of Arms
Most families have a coat of arms. A coat of arms is a shield of a person, family, corporation, or
country. These were used on the field of battle to identify a family because when everyone is
covered in head to toe in armour it is hard to tell who is who. I have a coat of arms myself. My coat
of arms has three fleur de lies and one chevron. It also contains the colors blue and gold. On the
coat of armsare colors called tinctures. Tinctures are the colors on your shield. My shield
includes blue and gold. The blue stands for fidelity, steadfastness, strength, and loyalty. The gold
stands understand respect, virtue, majesty, and generosity. These traits define my family
perfectly because my family is really generous, strong, and loyal. My family is generous, because
because everyday my parents sacrifice their time to care for me and my siblings. We are also strong
because all of us play sports and workout everyday. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

On my coat of arms I have one ordinary. It is a chevron. The chevron means protection. This is
true because me and my family are really protective over each other. I don t have a line of
separation but if I were to pick one that best represents my family it would be potenty. Which
means one who was injured in battle. This is perfect because I have several family members who
served in the army and got injured. On my shield I don t have any marks of cadency. I would pick
the first son because there is only one son in my family. I don t have any crosses on my shield, but

Andrew Jackson Indian Removal Act Summary
Andrew Jackson s Presidency and the Indian Removal Act
Andrew Jackson was the seventh president of the United States, he won the presidential race for
his support of farmers and workingmen. His role as president led him to pass nine treaties and
Indian Removal Act, although everything he passed was not what was promised. There are now
questions about what the removal was, how Jackson got it passed, and is it what the Indians
expected it to be? President Jackson got the Indian Removal Act passed on May 28, 1830, when it
was passed it said that the move west would be voluntary and peaceful, although Jackson and his
administration had other plans for the Indians and their land.
This policy first came up during the process of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, although it did not
pass until the exchange of land with the government and Indians. The Indian Removal Act was
passed by Congress on May 28, 1830. This was passed by President Andrew Jackson, and stated it
gave him the power to peacefully and voluntarily give the Indians the option to move from the
states east of the Mississippi River to the unoccupied land west. When this was approved, most did
not think the land west of the Mississippi would ever be a part of the country. Since that was
believed, the wester land was promised as permanent homeland for those who moved, but after they
moved the government continually made the portion of land the Indians were promised smaller and

How Does Macbeth Become Evil
In William Shakespeare s famous play, Macbeth, the main character Macbeth is a man who has
many characteristic traits within him. He shows ambition, bravery, self doubt and has a small trait
known as evil. Evil is what urges people to damage either someone or something. In the beginning
of the play Macbethwas known as being a hero after winning the war for Scotland. He was known
as the Brave Macbeth and a Worthy Gentlemen. A great warrior like Macbeth was later badly
equipped for the mental consequences of crime. Macbeth s flaws of becoming evil was due to
Lady Macbeth, the three witches, and his action. Lady Macbeth is the main reason Macbeth starts
to become evil. She becomes greedy and arrogant when she tries to manipulate her husband.

Several key employees left the company, seeing greater opportunity to develop their new
pacemaker product ideas in new start ups rather than within Medtronic. These competitors
proved much faster than Medtronic at developing new products that advanced the state of the art
in pacemaking. Medtronic was also pummeled by two major product recalls related to product
quality problems. Observers felt the company would have lost even more of the market during
this period, were it not for its strong worldwide salesforce and the lingering legacy of its brand
reputation amongst surgeons, the primary customer group. 1 This citation was made by the

Victimless Crime Analysis
In chapter 11 of Criminal Law Today, the author explains the concept of victimless crime and what
constitutes pornography, obscenity, and lewdness. The author also describes prostitution and its
legal status across the United States and the nation s drug problem. Some crimes fall into the
category of social order offenses, such as crimes against public decency and morality. These crimes
are also known as victimless crimes, which are offenses committed against the social values and
interests represented in and protected by the criminal law. Crimes against public decency and
morality include prostitution, drug use, gambling, pornography, obscenity, and various other
consensual sex offenses. Prostitution is the offering or receiving of the body for sexual intercourse
for hire. However, some states limit the crimeof prostitution to sexual intercourse for hire.
According to the definitions of North Carolina and Georgia, a conviction for prostitution does not
require for the act to actually take place. Even promoting prostitution is a statutory offense. The
purpose is to punish those who profit or attempt to profit by using others to engage in prostitution.

Marriage in Ancient Roman Culture
Every culture has marriage rituals that help differentiate them from each other. Traditions and
customs in ancient Roman wedding etiquette was not very different from bridal etiquette today.
Their wedding customs have actually set the basis for many modern weddings today. However,
there were some customs that were very important to the Romans that do not completely relate to
modern customs. An engagement ring, the choice of which date and location, the dressing of the
bride, and the legalizing of the marriageitself were all important to the Ancient Roman culture.
Before the actual wedding took place, several things had to happen. The bride had to get engaged.

It s also thought that the Romans were the first to engrave their rings.
The day of the wedding was chosen with great care, to prevent any bad omens. The Romans
were very superstitious, and had to assure that no bad luck should fall on the date of marriage.
The months of May and February were considered months of mourning, so no marriages took
place during those months. Specific days were forbidden as well. Kalends (the first of the
month), Nones (the fifth of the month), and Ides (the fifteenth of the month) were horrible days
for weddings. Many people have heard the expression, Beware the Ides of March. It is known for
being an ill fated day because Julius Caesar was assassinated on this date in 44 B.C.
The morning of the wedding day, the bride had to rise early to pick flowers from her parent s
garden to weave a crown to hold her veil in place. The flowers were said to be a symbol of
innocence and purity. She would wear a flammeum (the wedding veil), which was considered to
be a part of the wedding dress. The flammeum was the bride s rectangular, enveloping veil, which
left her face uncovered. Flammeum means flame, so some believed it was red. However, the veil
was dyed a very deep yellow, much like the flame of a candle. The wedding dress was very special
and only worn once, much like the modern customs today. The bride would wear a wool robe of
pure white. Wool was chosen as a lucky fabric to ward off evil. Around the waist

Energy Conservation And What We Can Do

Energy Conservation and What We Can Do
Every household within the United States can make realistic changes to improve the global energy
crisis. Homes in the United States expend a significant amount of natural gas and electricity. Future
generations may experience drastic energy deficiencies if people around the world do not act now
and take the necessary precautions to reduce energy consumption. Family homes consume roughly
thirty eight percent of the total energy consumption per year, which leads problems like global
warming. It is vital, now more than ever, that individuals comprehend how we deplete energy in a
domestic home and what he or she can do to prevent excessive energy consumption. ... Show more
content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keep in mind; there are several other means in which an individual can aid this decrease in energy
consumption. The most collective way is to utilize a furnace. Of course, one can always use a
fireplace, stove, electric resistance heater, or electrically powered heat pump to warm up the
household. Generally, furnaces operate via natural gas and result in approximately sixty to ninety
percent efficiency. Shockingly, electrical resistant heaters prove to be almost one hundred percent
efficient when it comes to heat production. Unfortunately, this value is not all that accurate in the
end game scheme of things. These heaters consume a vast amount of energy in order to heat one s
home. An individual needs to inspect the efficiency of a heating element and the amount of energy
consumption necessary for operation when considering a new means to produce household warmth.
In fact, electricity is more costly than natural gas to generate, making electric resistance heaters
pricier to maintain. This energy demand must be included in the total cost of electric resistance
heating.
An alternative method to heat one s home, and perhaps my favorite after living in Chico, is to do
so via a fireplace. Yes, a fireplace. A fireplace eliminates the consumption of natural gas. Instead,
the burning of wood fuels a fireplace. Unfortunately, fireplaces do not prove to be an effective
solution for society s environmental problem. The burning of wood produces

Becoming An Auto-Mechanic-Personal Narrative
Growing up I ve wanted to be many things when i grew up, such as a police officer, fireman,

that i would enjoy doing. I am only a Sophomore in High School though, and
God s plan for can be different then what i think i want to be when i grow up.
My plan as of right now is to go college and become an auto mechanic. I m not quite sure yet if i
am going to stay in Idaho and go to a local college such as NIC or move out and go to an out of

Even though you will find new friends at your college, you can still feel awkward being there.

  • 2. Comparing Poems Power Plant-Bops And The Seedling The story s last paragraph and the poem s last stanza contribute to the development of each text s theme because they sum up the idea of good fruit of the spirit and perfectness. For example, in the last stanza, The Seedling tells how both sun and showers help you through hard times, much like how people of good fruit and people of bad fruit influence and help a situation. It also say in lines 31 and 32 you will rise to light and beauty. Virtue s fair, unfading flowers. Similar to how when you rise to Heaven you rise to beauty and Heaven is one place flowers go unfaded. The last paragraph of Power Plant Bots mentions the thought that if only perfect water is consumed, the plant would become a perfect plant. There are also some differences... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Power Plant Bots , the last paragraph contributes to the stories theme by going in depth about the three types of Plant Bots, all while telling a life lesson. In The Seedling the last stanza had a more hidden theme rather than out in the open. The story told how a seedling was in a dark place, but was determined to do the best it could. Soon later it lifted a leaflet out of its darkness and ito the light, but the last stanza says that the sun and showers will help you through lonesome and struggling hours, till you raise to light abd beauty, virtue s fair unfading beauty. I soon realized the story was refering to someone in a dark place in their life, but decided to not let that stop them from doing their best. This person soon brought another person (leaflet) out of their dark place and the leaflet called others, and the others heard and wanted to follow and so the seedling showed them the way. To me, showed them the way were words that stuck out to me, and I read it as they took them to a good place (church) away from the dark place and let them see the light (God). I think the sun and showers refer to good fruit of the spirit(sun) and bad fruit of the spirit as well (showers). Although I see the themes very similar, the way the theme was presented in the last paragraph/stanza made me have a different perspective that made me reread the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Diana Gu Passion True Passion: Diana Gu s Experience of Success Mathematics is not for one type of person: not only for the nerdy and weird outcasts, not only for the white male, not only for those who are not targeted by the stereotypes prevalent in the field. Mathematics is not dry, nor boring, nor focused on inane solutions never to be used after the discovery. Mathematics is not what people think it is; it is not one field, one theme, one subject. Mathematics is everything. Look around, with clear eyes, and you will see the art of mathematics everywhere. This situation happen because they do not understand the external environmentwill bring an impact on them as a whole. They consider that concentrating on the internal is taken for granted. It is because they feel comfortable with leading and managing what is happening right now. The example of firms that did not understand their external environmentis Walmart. Management Plan for Caracal Conrad Gabriel Ho 10724 Business of the Creative Enterprise Level 2: Artist Management AM6B 23rd February 2011 Management Plan for Caracal [pic] Caracal is an alternative rock band based in Singapore which has been around since 2006. The band consists of five members, KC Meals on vocals, Henry Louis Velge on the bass guitar, Gabriel De Souza on the lead guitar, Field Teo on the rhythm guitar and Martin Kong on drums. Since their debut into the local scene in 2006, Caracal has gained fame among the locals in Singapore and is considered as one of the few bands to succeed alongside The Great Spy Experiment. Also, making sure that media attention on the band is closely monitored while sending press releases to the media informing about upcoming performances and public appearances. Lastly, the manager has to acquire the help of a publicist or if not needed, publicise the band as it adds value to the band by setting up CD sales, getting more bookings for shows and interviews. Opportunities for Caracal is that being based in Singapore, the market is small and is easier to break into the music scene and be one of the famous bands around. On the other hand, the limitation of being in Singapore is that the music scene is not as recognized and huge such as companies in the United States of America where talent scouts are everywhere looking for new talent every other day for their record labels. Therefore, an action plan must be set for the goals, aims and objectives of both the band and the manager must be put into place. Firstly, with the band flying off overseas for the Canadian Music Festival in Toronto, press releases must be printed and sent out to the media involved in the music festival. Not stopping there, more press releases and also portable info packs should be printed out so that when attending artists networking conferences in Canada, the United States of America or in fact anywhere around the world, the manager is able to promote their band to A list record labels or scouts. • 6. Soft Bone Fractures The argument still takes place among parents as to whether or not weak or soft bones result in more fractures in children of young ages. Lack of nutrition in a child s overall health can result from soft bones due to missing core vitamins and other necessary nutrients. The well known childhood disease known as Rickets is the deficiency of bonemineralization that is mostly recognizable at the growth plate. (The Lancet; October 2003, Wharton, Bishop) Rickets occurs when the ossification process where cartilage is transformed into bone does not occur which results in the softening of the bone at the end. Soft bones are due to the lack of the ossification process taking place correctly, where the bone is hardened. The data researched and presented in the Pediatric Radiology Journal states, that there is not any comparable information that poor mineralization in infants results in easier fracturing. However, lack of or reduced bone mineralization can result in fracturing of bones in elderly people and older children. Nonetheless, Rickets is not a major contributing cause of fractures in young infants and toddlers. Darkness at Noon, a novel detailing the infamous Moscow Show Trials, conducted during the reign of Joseph Stalin is Arthur Koestler s commentary upon the event that was yet another attempt by Stalin to silence his critics. In the novel, Koestler expounds upon Marxism, and the reason why a movement that had as its aim the regeneration of mankind, should issue in its enslavement and how, in spite of its drawbacks, it still held an appeal for intellectuals. It is for this reason that Koestler may have attempted not to solve but to expose the shortcomings of this political system and by doing so... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rubashov s character vacillates between embracing the individualistic traits of his nature to the pull exerted on him by the indoctrination of the ideology of the greater good, even at the expense of individual liberty and freedom. Rubashov, during his time in prison though shows a propensity to acknowledge the failure of the glorious tenets of the Revolution, for he has seen the horror of the totalitarian system in the purges carried out by the party leaders under the pretext of filtering traitors. In an acknowledgement of the folly of his and the Party s ways, Rubashov states ...we are doing the work of prophets without their gift. We replaced vision by logical discussion... and it is this acceptance of their shortcomings that shows the transformation of Rubashov. Rubashov, though a committed Marxist, during his time in the prison seems vexed by the notion that the end justifies the means because he has himself seen that the final result is often not what is seen in the present moment but the truth that becomes apparent only in the light of retrospective thought. • 10. Ecological Theory And Social Work Hospital social work is time limited and the focus could easily be more directed at problems rather than solutions. Patients enter the hospital with a physical problem and desire to leave with answers. In this type of environment the focus can be on the physical ailment rather than additional factors that may be contributing to physical distress. Environmental factors can promote well being or become a barrier to wellness. An ecological perspective provides a lens to view patient systems in a broader context. Ecological perspective is a useful framework in which to view the individual in context with their environment. According to Rogers (2013) ecological theory was originally developed by a psychologist, Urie Bronfenbrenner in 1979 (p. 42). A fundamental tenet of ecological theory is that people are actively involved with their environments and their perceptions of the environment significantly affects their well being (p. 42). Ecological theory describes four levels of the environment that interconnect and impact people. Moving from the most intimate individual system to a broader inclusion you can identify the many systems that play a role in individual s lives and well being. These interactions could be harmonious and create homeostasis or could be disharmonious and cause stress. First, the microsystem level encompasses roles and relationships in a person s immediate environment (Rogers, 2013, p. 43). For example, Maria s relationships and home living situation ... • 13. Guilt In Sophocles Oedipus The King Remorse, the feeling of deep guilt and regret for the commitment of a crime or atrocity, is a major element in classical Greek tragedies. The resulting anguish that the character feels enhances the magnitude of the catastrophe, as the atrocity is transformed into a powerful emotion bringing it to a relatable level. In Sophocless Oedipus Rex, retold by John Bennett and Moira Kerr, and Antigone translated by E.F. Watling, the reader witnesses how different aspects of each play contribute towards the final tragic ending. While both Creon and Oedipus exhibit feelings of remorse, Oedipus displays a higher degree of contrition as a result of his hamartia, his thanatos and the impact that family and secondary characters have towards his anagnorisis.... It brought the US out of a massive hole of poverty by creating jobs and creating regulations to help the economy stabilize. The Stock Market Crash of 1929 can be blamed for the start of the Great Depression, after millions went into panic when their investments fell through. After Woodrow Wilson failed to help the working class in a worsening economy, Americans looked for new hope in Franklin D. Roosevelt, elected in 1933, to help them come out of this terrible depression. He responded by creating numerous administrations and programs over the course of 5 years. These programs were designed to create unskilled labor and support the poor to help stimulate the economy again. His plan succeeded up to the second world war, where economy started to boom when a higher work force was needed. The first step Roosevelt took to create economic stability was to create jobs. Administrations such as the Public Works Administration created millions of jobs for the unemployed, including building many bridges, hospitals, schools, and more (New Deal Public Works Administration projects). The Civilian Conservation Corps also created unskilled labor such as planting trees and building state parks, which in turn helped the environment and conserve resources. Arthur Marwick in his Fundamentals of History suggests that when studying history it is important that there is a distinction made between History and The Past, the former referring to the knowledge produced by historians about the past together with the teaching of that knowledge. Marwick states that the latter is just everything that actually happened, whether known, or written, about by historians or not . This way of studying the enlightenment was criticised initially because it is hard to understand the progress of enlightenment without any social or geographical context of how the path was paved for great thinkers of the eighteenth century. Darnton suggested that perhaps new methodologies, that would position the enlightenment into different geographical and economic perspectives as well as consider how it was transmitted through media in eighteenth century France, needed to be developed and practiced. This suggests that perhaps the way that historians such as Peter Gay studied the enlightenment was far too simplistic and placed more importance on the writings of the great thinkers than on the actual progress of the enlightenment during that time period. Although this shows that some enlightenment historians ignored the social, geographical and economic context of the enlightenment, it does not necessarily mean that they ignored History. This essay agrees with Marwick in the sense that History should be defined as the bodies of knowledge produced about history and should not be confused with the past. Horse s manes will differ from horse to horse, based on the size of the horse, how bulky the neck is, and what it looks like with the overall structure and build of the horse. Quarter horses and thoroughbreds look better with short manes. Arabians and gaited horses prefer longer manes (Baker). A stripping blade is a good tool to use to cut the mane. The stripping blade has sharp teeth and a wooden handle. It is used similarly to how a hair stylist uses a razor. Touching Behaviour in Conversational Dyads Running head: TOUCHING BEHAVIOUR CONVERSATION Touching Behaviour in Conversational Dyads Mark Odean Grant University of the West Indies, Mona December 8, 2006 Humans are social and diversely interactive beings. As a result, there is the frequent practice of touching during conversation. This touching may be the conscious decision of individuals, as well as simply a spontaneous form of expression or response. An operational definition of touching would involve the initiation of physical contact between two individuals; for example, shaking hands (Fowler and Fowler, 1969). A conversation involves communication between two individuals by word of mouth (Fowler and Fowler, 1969). Touching as a complement of conversation is very common, but ... Also a timing device (e.g. watch or stopwatch) was used for the purpose of the one minute period of observation. These devices however were selected based on what was available to individual researcher. The number of hands and body touches were recorded for each set of dyads during the minute. Examples of hand touches include hand to hand, hand to face, hand to leg, hand to shoulder. Examples of body touches include body to body, kissing and hugging.) For the purpose of establishing inter rater reliability, only new touches that took place in the minute were recorded. Accordingly, if the dyads were touching before the minute of observation started, this was not counted or recorded. Also, students, during tutorial sessions were guided as to how to count record touches. This was done through role play exercises where the students (observers) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These words from Paul Harvey rang from the home TVs of millions of people during the 2013 Super Bowl broadcasting. As the 2 minute commercial played, it became one of the most memorable Super Bowl commercials ever created. Dodge Ramproduced this commercial not only to advertise their trucks, but also depict the American farmer. As news spread of the nine deaths (including that of Hall, who spoke to his wife in New Zealand by radiophone as he lay stranded in a snowstorm on the summit ridge), a barrage of questions resounded: What went wrong? Why was the approaching storm ignored? And, most emphatically, why are tourists with more money than expertise being taken up Everest in the first place? Jon Krakauer was one of the survivors, and in Into Thin Air he relives the storm and its aftermath, trying to answer those questions. • 40. The Art World Is A Forever Changing System The art world is a forever changing system, with new ideas and concepts constantly emerging. Marcel Duchamp, working in a world where art was focused heavily on pleasing the eye, is seen to emerge with a new idea that aimed to challenge this retinal approach that was expected of art during this time. Duchamp would call this new approach the readymade .
This essay will discuss how Duchamp used the readymade, specifically his 1913 piece Bicycle Wheel, to move away from the focus on the visual and shift attention to a focus on the conceptual. Likewise, this essay will explore how Duchamp s readymade has influenced artists such as Jeff Koons, who similarly incorporated the conceptual focus of the readymade within his own 1981 87 readymade... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Duchamp is seen to use the word retinal as a means of critically referring to avant garde painting, as it was apparent to him that the modern artist was becoming too immersed in a focus of pleasing the viewer on a visual level, that they had neglected to stimulate the mind. As stated by Duchamp himself, he wanted to put painting again at the service of the mind , and thus his creation of the readymade emerged. The readymade consisted of a simple, unaltered, everyday object(s) that was presented as a work of art. Through the creation of the readymade, Duchamp undermined these pre determined aesthetic expectations of art as he started to exhibit his readymade pieces in high art exhibitions. From this point onwards, Duchamp s artistic approach was changed via his re development of common, everyday items and through the means of choosing and repositioning an object, Duchamp was able to transform an everyday item into a work of art. Thus, the readymade can be seen to be driven by Duchamp s interest in shifting attention away from the object itself, and instead refocusing this attention on the creative relationship that he recognised between the artist, the work, the world and the audience. Duchamp was strong in his belief that The creative act is not performed by the artist alone. The spectator brings the work into contact with the external world through interpretation . Duchamp s ... Homes in the United States expend a significant amount of natural gas and electricity. Future generations may experience drastic energy deficiencies if people around the world do not act now and take the necessary precautions to reduce energy consumption. Family homes consume roughly thirty eight percent of the total energy consumption per year, which leads problems like global warming. It is vital, now more than ever, that individuals comprehend how we deplete energy in a domestic home and what he or she can do to prevent excessive energy consumption. ... The most collective way is to utilize a furnace. Of course, one can always use a fireplace, stove, electric resistance heater, or electrically powered heat pump to warm up the household. Generally, furnaces operate via natural gas and result in approximately sixty to ninety percent efficiency. Shockingly, electrical resistant heaters prove to be almost one hundred percent efficient when it comes to heat production. Unfortunately, this value is not all that accurate in the end game scheme of things. These heaters consume a vast amount of energy in order to heat one s home. An individual needs to inspect the efficiency of a heating element and the amount of energy consumption necessary for operation when considering a new means to produce household warmth. In fact, electricity is more costly than natural gas to generate, making electric resistance heaters pricier to maintain. This energy demand must be included in the total cost of electric resistance heating. An alternative method to heat one s home, and perhaps my favorite after living in Chico, is to do so via a fireplace. Yes, a fireplace. A fireplace eliminates the consumption of natural gas. Instead, the burning of wood fuels a fireplace. Unfortunately, fireplaces do not prove to be an effective solution for society s environmental problem. The burning of wood produces ... I am only a Sophomore in High School though, and God s plan for can be different then what i think i want to be when i grow up. My plan as of right now is to go college and become an auto mechanic. I m not quite sure yet if i am going to stay in Idaho and go to a local college such as NIC or move out and go to an out of state college. I want to go to college because i want to learn what i need to know about becoming an auto mechanic so i can get a job in the future. I know that going to a college, my beliefs will be tested, whether it s with pure pressure, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have been going to a Christian school since i was in fourth grade, and i was raised by Christian parents, so going out into the world where i am not surrounded by people of the same beliefs as me is going to be a big step, but I have known Jesus my whole life and i think i will be grounded in my faith by the time i get to college that i will be able to not break down and fall into what other people are doing. Going to college is a big step for another reason, your moving away from your family and friends. Even though you will find new friends at your college, you can still feel awkward being there. Personally, I think that a change and getting away from where i ve grown up would be nice. I m not worried about being homesick, I m excited to get away from everything. My definition of success for me would be to pass college and get a job i can support a family with, but going to college and passing can t be my only goal. I have to trust what God ...
