How Does Lucy Impact The Victorian Era
How long did the Victorian Era last? Queen Victoria of England ruled the throne for over 64
years, however her impact made the Victorian era last for a 150 year. The Victorian era was most
known for its censorship and proper allegations. For example, men were, theoretically, hard
workers and protectors of the house and family. Subsequently, women tailored to a role that limited
their abilities as a citizen as compared to today, which included household chores and such. Lastly,
children were to be quite and did not spend much time with their mothers and fathers. Due to
society s own harsh expectations of themselves, it impacted other aspects of their lives. This
impacted literature and is a major time when authors had to use more profound... Show more

Renfield, a mental patient at Dr. John Seward s mental asylum, is beaten nearly to death, saying,
his back is broken. See, both his right arm and left and the whole side of his face are paralyzed
(Stoker 297). Renfield is mentally ill and would have been ignored or even tormented by others
for his illness, showing Victorianism s harsh ideas towards those who do not fit the perfect idea
of a person during this time. Men were, Expected to be as manly, as virile, strong, and robust, as
women were believed to be fragile... and continues saying fierce competitors at work, lords of
their homes, and protectors of their wives and children (Swisher 75). Renfield in no ways fits
this set of beliefs for men during this era and therefore is killed off because Stoker knows that the
Victorian people would have wanted and approved of this. Not only was Renfield mentally ill, a
disability in this society like most, he is also a vampire and can be associated with the other
sexually promiscuous man monsters like the three vampire seductresses or Count Dracula himself.
In summary, Renfield s death conveys the ideas of Victorianism because they did not like the

Welcoming Students Into The Classroom
Greeting and welcoming students into the classroom occurs before the first day of school. Making
sure that my name and the room number is large, clear, and visible outside the room prior to the
students arriving on the first day, allows for students to feel comfortable knowing they are entering
the right room. When it comes to the first day of schooland everyday after that, greeting students
begins by meeting them before they get into the door. Being prepared for them before they walk
in is important. Meet them outside the door with a smile, and telling them good morning, or we
are going to have an awesome day, something to bring a positive environment, a positive message
right off the bat before any academic learning takes place helps with creating a positive classroom
environment if they see that the teacher is happy, energetic, and ready to go. As we get to learn
every students name and getting to know what their interests are, adding their name to saying good
morning, and a high five, a fist bump, etc. will continue to make the student feel secure in the room
knowing the teacher cares about me, and wants to interact with me.
Classroom rules should be created by the students, but with the basics and the framework created
by the teacher. The teacher should know what the big ideas behind three to five main rules they
want to apply in their classroom, however, it should be up to the students to determine how to
phrase, and what they believe is important for their

Pandora s Seed Chapter Summary
At its heart, Pandora s Seed, by Spencer Wells, is about the unforeseen consequences resulting from
the inexorable march forward in the name of progress originally set in motion thousands of years
ago when our Neolithic ancestors decided to grow their own food rather than seeking it out.
According to Wells, agricultureis the most important advancement of the last 50,000 years, and the
consequences of the shift from hunter gatherer bands to settlements based around agricultural
exploits are more far reaching than anyone could have possibly known. The book begins by
exploring gene variations in the humangenome, and finding genes that show strong signs of
selection over the last 10,000 years or so. This is possible due to relatively recent... Show more

Humans had little contact with live animals before they began domesticating them. Hunters
often handled dead animals, which meant blood borne infections were somewhat common, but
on the whole communicable disease wasn t a problem like it is now. According to Wells, the
clearing of land for agricultural activities, and the need for standing or slow moving water for
irrigation led to increases in the number of mosquitoes encountered by humans, and as a result
this led to more communicable disease, specifically malaria. This susceptibility to
communicable disease is one that has already been addressed via natural selection. The gene
responsible for causing sickle cell anemia also happens to make people resistant to malaria, and
we see this gene in 25% of African people living in malaria problem area, which is strong
evidence for that gene being selected for. A resistance to malaria gives individuals in that area a
higher chance of surviving and passing their genes onto another

Synthesis Of Hexane Lab Report
The purpose of this lab is to gain a greater understanding of the reactions between aldehydes and
amines and of their usefulness in synthesis and biology. The lab is divided into 3 steps, the first
step is imine formation, second step is reduction of the imine, and the last step is acylation of
the imine. The imine formed is a primary imine, the first two steps of the lab make up reductive
amination1. The formation of the imine is carried out by adding 0.213 grams of ortho vallin, the
aldehyde, and .150 grams of para toluidine. The solids were grinded until homogenous, one layer
is formed. The crystals went from brown to orange liquid layer. The bi product of imine formation
is water, and OH gets protonated and come off during the reaction. Recrystallization is done to get
rid of water. Hexane is used as the recrystallization solventbecause it is non polar, like the imine.
The mass is 0.3365 grams and the percent yield is 99.6%. There was some product lost on the
stirring rod. The IR showed a peak at 2942.40 indicating a methyl group and a peak at 1593.67 and

Sodium borohydride is a reducing agent that reduces double bonds. The solution went from
orange then to a cloudy white precipitate. The bright orange in the first step is because of imine
formation. Lack of colour, after the addition of NaBH4, shows imine is no longer there it has been
reduced. That amine is now formed evident by the white precipitate. Sodium Borohydride is highly
reactive, so it needs a protic solvent like ethanol to help stabilize. This is why ethanol is added
before the sodium borohydride. The formation of imine happens at acidic conditions and ethanol
makes sure the solution does not get to acidic otherwise amine is not formed. Sodium borohydride
is waited to be added, because if added before the imine is formed it reduces the intermediate and
not the imine

Clay Bust Analysis
Most of my pieces have everything to do with personal inspiration, and ideas that I ended up
coming with from either reference photos or my very own imagination. I Intended on focusing my
creativity on detail and perseverance, there were times during the clay bust project where my
project fell apart or cracked numerous times, and I had to struggle a bit to piece it back together. As
I began my clay bust project, I came in with various ideas and motivations that eventually morphed
into my final piece. I started with jotting ideas that included; Anime sculpting, Alien faces, and
Women Facial structures. Eventually, I decided on the Alien piece and began sculpting. I
mentioned earlier how I faced certain troubles when dealing with my piece, including it falling apart

It gives me an idea what struggle looks like in a sense, since it fell apart numerous times and I
spent an extra amount of time trying to perfect it. My intended audience could be people who
aren t really expecting a surprise, and then they re introduced to my piece and have a different
reaction that reflects the personality of the piece. For example, they would see it and
automatically think that it s some kind of bird creature, and it ll keep people guessing and
thinking, yet they won t be able to turn away from the piece. Most of the rest of my pieces are
very abstract, and detailed, which is where I believe my bust sculpture fits in perfectly. Besides
the amount of time put into this specific piece, I believe that the amount of detail, tone, and color
added onto it also relates to the rest of my pieces, for example my clay mask sculpture which
included two different colors, yet it I added detail throughout both of them to show facial
expressions and setting the tone for each individual

SIBLINGS RELATIONSHIP
Overture to sibling s kinship
The relationship between siblings is a critical relationship. The sibling relationship is one of the
longest lasting relationships in most people s lives and one of the most prevalent (Avidan, p21).
The sibling relationship has many delicate and intricate issues like conflicts, rivalry, despite these
negative impacts this relationship is one of the closest relationships. The siblings help one another
and give emotional support when it is needed. The quality of sibling kinship is closely associated
with social development and the psychological characteristics of the children. Also, in this aspect it

Specifically, Tan uses sisterhood as a structure for the representation and regulation of cultural
differences among women. The Hundred Secret Senses does not offer an admired development of
sisterhood but rather gives a refined investigation of the philosophy of sisterhood and stresses the
impact of the sister relationship in creating ethnic consciousness and identity. For Tan, sisterhood
envelops biological bonding as well as poignant cultural heritage. The bond between the two half
sisters in The Hundred Secret Senses is loaded with equivocalness created by synchronous
sentiments of equality and difference. Psychologically, Olivia, the sister who typifies the ethnic
other, has been perceived as a fundamental piece of the American self. The key occasions in her
psychological development her isolation from Simon, her refusal of her heritage and rejection of
her sister, her guiltiness, her developing valuation for Chinese culture, and her longings towards
meaningful kinships are all associated with her sister Kwan and their advancing relationship. Kwan
turns out to be, in the expressions of Downing, an oblivious manual for Olivia s trip toward self

Life Long Learning Is The Key Axiom Of Life
Learning is one of the greatest aspects of life. Accepting that learning from all experiences leads to
the greatest version of yourself and your ultimate accomplishments is a key axiom of life. I believe
that lifelong learning is the most important concept and skill to have. A large amount of skills that
make people successful in their professional and academic careers comes from unconventional
learningwhich is a major part of the lifelong learningprocess. Unconventional learning develops
many very practical and applicable skills that help in a variety of areas. These unconventional
concepts paired with conventional learning and the ever growing drive for knowledge is known
as Life Long Learning. Lifelong Learning is the most important concept to grasp. There are three
categories of learning that are associated with lifelong learning. They are Formal Learning ,
which is affiliated with the typical brick and mortar school. Formal learning is any clearly
identified learning activity that takes place in an organized, structured setting that leads to
certification (Taylor, Trumpower, and Pavic). The next type of learning is Non Formal
Learning.Non Formal Learning is learning that usually coincides with Formal education but is not
measured or certified for proficiency. An example of this would be someone going to a public
speaking convention and learning new public speaking skills but its does not lead to certification.
The last type of learning is Informal

The Theories Of Personality Theories
Diana Maxwell

Prof. Christina Gonzalez
Many psychologists have formed important theories regarding personality. Some of these theories
are still relevant to our world today. These theories have helped form humans and they have also
changed the way we think and the way we do things. There are many different forms of personality
theories that have shaped the world for us: Biological, Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Humanist, Trait,
etc. Biological theories are based on genetics and they believe that genetics are responsible for
personality. Behavioral theories suggest that personality is the reason for interaction between
others. Psychodynamic theories are mostly based on the works of Sigmund Freud. These theories
state that the unconscious mind and childhood has effects in personality. Humanist theories believe
that the ability to be free and have experience on one s own effects personality. The final
personality theory it the Traits theories. This theory states that personality is passed along by traits.
The many personality theories still may not be just enough information for us to understand why
everyone has a different personality, but the theories do help us to have a broader understanding of
it. Famous psychologists such as Sigmund Freud, Carl Rogers, Carl Jung, etc are responsible for
making these theories understandable. They are great thinkers who have proposed many intelligent
theories and reasons for personality. Some of these theories are still

Congestive Heart Failure
Introduction
Everyone loses pumping ability in their heart as they age. The serious case of heart failure
develops when other health conditions cause the heart to work harder or become damaged due to
increased stress. Heart failure is usually a chronic disease. It gradually tends to become worse. By
the time someone is diagnosed with it, the heart has most likely begun to lose pumping capacity
for quits some time. Nearly five million Americans are living with heart failure and 550,000 new
cases are diagnosed each year. This paper will discuss what heart failure is, and what nursing
interventions may be of help to patients who suffer from this disease. My grandmother was recently
diagnosed with congestive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This excess fluid or congestion is where the term congestive heart failure comes from.
Right sided failure is often a result of left sided failure. When the left side fails, increased fluid
pressure develops in the lungs and damages the heart s right side. When pumping power is lost in
the right side, blood backs up in the veins causing swelling in the legs and ankles.
The heart tries to make up for loss of pumping capacity in three ways enlarging, developing more
muscle mass, and pumping faster. By enlarging, the heart contracts more strongly and pumps more
blood. When the contracting cells of the heart increase in size, an increase in muscle mass also
occurs. Pumping faster helps to increase the heart s output.
The body also does other things to help compensate for the loss in power in the heart. Blood
vessels narrow to keep the blood pressure up. The body diverts the majority of the blood to the
heart and the brain. Eventually the heart can t keep up and the person will suffer from fatigue,
breathing problems or various other symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, loss of appetite,
nausea, confusion, or increased heart rate. Factors such as smoking, being overweight, having a
diet high in fat and cholesterol, and not exercising can contribute to heart failure.
Background
After reviewing medical journals related to my topic, I discovered that many physicians and nurses
think that congestive heart failure is

Globalization Essay
The implications of globalization are greatly felt in every part of the world. One of its effects is
encouraging the movement of financial capital, trade, and direct and foreign investments. This
refers to the economic exchange of goods and services internationally and international financial
flows. (Carr and Chen, 2001). Through the perspective of an optimistic globalist, tradehas brought
an increase in the volume of trade, whereas, pessimistic globalist suggests that globalizationon the
world economy has made the world less diverse and homogenous. ( Textbook). Under these two
major themes, there are four major concepts that will guide in understanding how globalization and
economicsrelates; stretched social relations, intensification... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With the increase of trades, more goods and services crossing national borders and spreading its
influence abroad. For instance, Macdonald is a huge franchise that many investors have invest in
developed and developing countries. It is an American brand that is now a household name in
Europe, North East Asia, South East Asia, and of which shows how far globalization has spread.
FDIs can also help to create more jobs for by investing in more companies and further increase more
investments flowing in. As FDIs is one of the key instrumental in affecting the economy,
globalization can help to further facilitate the movement of it which supports the argument of the
optimistic globalist.
Secondly, the other positive effect of globalization on the world economy is how it may equalize
wealth distribution. After the 2000s financial crisis, there was a slow and weak economic growth.
Those in the higher income was able to suffer losses while those who were in the middle to lower
income were struggling which suggest the widening in income gap. However, the idea of
globalization in the eyes of the optimistic is that the increased volume of trade, the access to
advancement in technology across the world and stretched communication internationally can help
to improve the situation. As the world gets more interconnected, the intensification of goods and
services moving across nations increases. This would suggest that there is an increase in trade
which will

This summer I attended a summer camp called Rotary Youth Leadership Program. This was a

a lot about how to lead others and I learned about myself. One thing that I learned is that you can

Some introverts like to have one on one conversations with the leader and extroverts are usually
loud and are okay with asking questions or for help in front of others. For example, my sister is
an introvert and she is very quiet and shy. If she is in a group and they are asking the members of
the group their opinion, in order for her to talk you would have to call on

My Life With Drinking Water
9:15. This is the time that I awoke on yet another seemingly average Thursday morning. I
groggily force myself to rise from the warm sanctuary of my multiple blankets and pillows in
order to start my day. After the hour or so of preparing for the day ahead, I decide that it is time to
hydrate myself by drinking water. However, this is not just any ordinary water. It is Dasani, my
favorite affordable brand of bottled water. As I reach my refrigerator, I am met with immense
dismay as I learn that my supply has been emptied out. Seeing as though I typically go grocery
shopping anyway on Thursdays, this disappointment did not ruin my day. I go through my day
as usual by going to my classes for the day. When they end, I prepare for my journey out to the
store. I must find the one thing I allow to quench my thirst, Dasani. I go through the local
Kroger as usual, picking up any food that I find will last me and my roommate for a week or
two. Then, I enter the beverage aisle. My entire day has been leading up to this moment. I speed
past the numerous sugary options and head straight to the bottled water. My eyes scan through
the various options. After a few seconds of intense searching, my eyes lock onto the green and
blue packaging of the reliable bottled water, Dasani. As if it was a reflex, my body rushes towards
the case and lifts up the slightly heavy twenty four case of the bottled water. While handing the
cashier money in exchange for my groceries, I begin to wonder why I

Changes In The Endocrine System
The endocrine system is made up of organs and tissues that produce hormones. Hormones are
natural chemicals produced in one place, secreted into the bloodstream and then used by other
organs and target systems. Hormones control the target organs. Some organic systems have their
own internal control systems in place of the hormones or together with them.
As we get older, natural changes occur in the way in which body systems are controlled. Some
target tissues become less sensitive to the hormone that controls them. The amount of hormones
produced can also change. The blood levels of some hormones increase, those of others decrease
and those of some others remain unchanged. Hormones also break down (metabolize) more slowly.
Many of the organs that produce hormones are controlled by other hormones. ... Show more content

This region produces hormones that control other structures in the endocrine system. The amount of
these regulatory hormones remains almost the same, but the response from the endocrine organs
can change as we get older. The pituitary gland is also located in the brain. This gland reaches its
maximum size when people reach middle age and then gradually becomes smaller.
The thyroid gland is located in the neck. This gland produces the hormones that help control the
metabolism. With age, said gland can become protruding (nodular). The metabolism decreases
with time, beginning around 20 years of age. Because thyroid hormones are produced and broken
down (metabolized) at the same rate, tests of thyroid function are usually still normal. In some
people thyroid hormone levels may rise, leading to an increased risk of dying from cardiovascular
disease.
The parathyroid are four small glands located around the thyroid. Parathyroid hormone affects
calcium and phosphate levels, which affect bone strength. The levels of parathyroid hormones rise
with age, which can contribute to

The Origins Of Christianity And Christianity
Christianity is one of the most common religions of the world and was founded in the early
stages of time as we know it. Christianity was formed by the power of one man, Jesus Christ,
whose life was unexplainably different from anyone else s of his time. The influences of his
character, beliefs, customs, and teachings, are the foundation of the religion today. Throughout time
and as more knowledge was gained and received, the customs of the religion changed and new
smaller groups broke free from tradition and formed themselves into their own organizations. Every
event that happened shaped the religion, but the messiah or better known as the Son of God, played
the most important role. JesusChrist born circa 6 B.C in Bethlehem which is the south city of
Jerusalem was born of Virgin Mary and Joseph, but as the author states, Christians have believed
that Jesus was born in Bethlehem. The details are fully explained in the rabbinic interpretation
which is provided in the Old Testament. (Fisher, 2014, 305) There is very little written about
Jesus s early life. But what is said in The Gospel of Luke (2:41 52) conveys that when Jesus was
12 years old, he had accompanied his parents on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and they became
disunited. After a few days, he was found in a temple conversing affairs with some of Jerusalem s
elders. Throughout the New Testament, there are a few trace references of Jesus working as a
carpenter while he was a young adult. Moreover, at age 30

The term concentration camp refers to a camp in which people are detained or confined, usually

Cross Cultural Management Between China And Australia
Introduction
With the unstoppable trend of globalisation, it becomes extremely significant for international
businesses to have a thorough understanding of different cultures. Hofstede (1980, pp. 21 23)
defines culture as the collective programming of the mind distinguishing the members of one group
or category of people from another . This essay examines Hofstede s cultural framework and
suggests that Hofstede s cultural framework is an outstanding and authoritative tool to analyze
culture differences. In this essay, cultural frameworks will be discussed firstly, following by a
discussion of my cultural scores and background. Finally, recommendations on cross cultural
management between China and Australia will be provided.
Discussion of cultural frameworks
Geert Hofstede developed the widely applied Hofstede s cultural dimensions, which mainly focuses
on how different countries with different cultural backgrounds handle different anthropological
problems that occur in cross cultural communication (Hofstede 1980). The first five Hofstede s
dimensions will be discussed in following paragraphs. It should be clear that there is no good and
bad between two elements in each dimension since every culture has its unique features and ways
to function.
Power distance is defined as the extent to which the less powerful members of organizations and
institutions accept and expect that power is distributed unequally (Hofstede 1991, p.28). Global

Setting Analysis of the Story of an Hour Essay
Nathan Valentino
Setting Analysis Of The story of an Hour The Story of an Hour is a story about a woman, Mrs.
Mallard, who comes to find that her beloved husband Brently Mallard was killed in a railroad
incident. She mourns of his death in a different way than most would and tries to find a way to
get over it. There is a drastic twist to the story when through the front door walks Brently
Mallard who had actually not died. Then Mrs. Mallard drops to the floor dead, of joy that kills .
(The Story of an Hour) The setting takes place inside the House of Mrs. Mallard. She hears the
news of her husband s death and goes and locks herself inside her room. When the storm of grief
had spend itself, she went away to her room alone. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spring days, and summer days, all sorts of days that would be her own. She breathed a quick prayer
that life may be long. (The Story of an Hour) This shows that although he is gone and she is
extremely upset, she can now mover onto a new chapter of HER life, a life that she only has to live
for herself and no one else. On any given day she can go out and do what she pleases as she pleases
and not have a soul to worry about. This is where the bedroom scene changes into a place of
mourning and loneliness to a place of freedom and potential. The fact that it says and nobody was
to follow in The Story of an Hour, is basically saying that she is on her own to do as she pleases.
The bedroom alone is definitely a place of thought for Mrs. Mallard and directly symbolizes the
two different meanings of freedom and loneliness. The setting really gives us a great understanding
of what is going through her mind and symbolizes her emotions as she mourns and finds peace at
the death of her husband .

The devil made me do it. The devil didn t make you do anything. He can t force you and I to do
anything that is outside our will or the will of God. All he can do is tempt you. He doesn t have
that kind of authority over us, where he can make you do anything. The Bible says that we are
drawn away by our own lusts when we do something that is outside of God s Word and will for
our lives. You re drawn away because that s what you wanted to do, and then we try to find every
excuse in the book to justify doing it. I m here to tell you that you ll never be able to qualify it.
You will never ever be able to satisfy yourself with the thought I was justified in doing it if you re
going to be a man of integrity. A man of integrity has nothing to hide, nothing to fear. You are
always a stand up man, and you will always be an individual who others can depend and count
on. But most of all, a man of integrity is always true to his word. When you make promises, keep
them. Don t be a liar. A man of integrity is not a liar; he keeps his word. The Bible says in Psalm
15, When you re living with integrity, you ll tell the truth even when you re older. Even when
you know it may very well expose you, you still tell the truth instead of trying to find a way to get

Role of Public Health Personnel and Nurses in Disaster...
Introduction Disaster is anything that can occur causing damages, an ecological disruption and
deterioration of health and the health services. Disaster can be manmade or natural disasters such
as floods. When disasters like flooding or tornadoes that may be accompanied by floods occur, the
public health personnel and public health nurses are normally the first people who respond to the
emergency, given that they are the people who understand and know the available resources used in
providing first aids to the affected victims. The disaster nurses are known to be more professional in
nursing skills to meet the nursing physical needs that results from the disaster. They mainly focus
on health of communities and the entire population. This paper analyzes the role of major public
health personnel and public health nurse in disaster management, with particular interest in the
flood event occasioned by a tornado. It also describes chain of commands used in simulation for
community health nurse and actions that can be taken by the community health nurse to solve the
situation after disaster.

The Albany Devils First 30 Games Of 2016
For my project I chose to look at the Albany Devils first 30 games of 2016. I chose this topic
because my parents have season tickets to Albany Devils games and I either go to them when I
am home or watching them on my laptop when I am at school. My elements where the first 30
games of 2016 like stated before, and my variables were goals for, goals against, the result of the
game and the distance traveled. The elements are listed by the day and I also listed who the
opponent was so one can tell if it was an away game or a homegame.
For the first variable, result of the game, I put the outcomes in a table and also made a pie chart
showing their frequency. There were four possible outcomes, win, loss, overtime loss, and
shootout loss. The reason why I did this variable is because each result helps or hurts the team in
some way. When the team gets a win in any way they get two points, when they lose in
regulation, they get two points, and if they lose in either overtime or in a shootout they only get
one point. Turns out the Albany Devils won over half of their first 30 games in 2016, with a
total of 18 wins. They earn zero points in seven of the sampled games. In 17% of the sampled
games they earn only one point per game. The team did not even have one overtime loss. The
Albany Devils earned 41 of the possible 60 points up for grabs from January second to March
thirteenth helping them make it into the Calder Cup Playoffs for the second time in the past three
seasons.

Joshua Harris Why Church Matters
Why does the Church matter? That is the question many of us ask. The author Joshua Harris
through his book, Why Church matters: Discovering your place in the Family of God talks about
the Church and its importance for us as Christians. He describes the Church as the community
where we can find growth, encouragement, and closer relationship with God. In his book, Harris
pictures this relationship as a marriage, where we are the spouse and the church is the wife.
Before we decide to marry the Church, we need to commit to it, as a gloom commit to her bride
and is willing to give his life and sacrifice everything for her. Further, the author explains how we

Painting With Light By Dante Gabriel Rossetti Essay
The exhibition, Painting with Light will be displayed at the Tate Modern in London from May the
11th till September the 25th 2016. To those of you who may see Edwardian and Victorian art as not
being particularly exciting, i would encourage you to try and look past this disinterest and get down
to see the Painting with Light exhibition. The exhibition impressively manages to capture the
development of art during the period in a way of which the disinterest of most is turned into
intrigue and knowledge.
The exhibition focuses on the relationship between painting and photography, the largely
experimental period in which this developed coincided with the founding of the Pre Raphaelite
Brotherhood. Paintings by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, John Everett Millais and John Singer Sargent
are included (and personally i believe they are the highlights of the exhibition) are shown side by
side with the photos they inspired and of subjects they drew inspiration from.
The Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood was a secret society of the mid 19th century that sought to create a
new form of British art. They strived to emulate art from the late medieval period, early renaissance
till the of Raphael, striving to convey messages of artistic renewal and moral reform. This theme
combined with Aesthetic and Impressionist works gives the richness in culture and a great span in
examples that supply ample contextual and visual support for the idea the exhibition is conveying.

Essay on Kid Rock, Fuel, and Buckcherry
Kid Rock, Fuel, and Buckcherry
For my first critical essay, I have chosen to review my attendance and experience at a rock concert.
On Thursday January 18, at the Scottenstein Center in Columbus, I attended the concert of the
controversial Kid Rock. Other performers at the show included rock bands Fuel and Buckcherry.
Although there were only three bands that preformed that night, I found another source of
entertainment within the crowd of people; the wild antics of the die hard fans. In my essay I will
try and attempt to describe as realistically as possible, my experience. Prior to the concert I had
been somewhat familiar with all three bands music. I was excited to attend the show, but I didn t
know what to expect. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After about a twenty minute wait, the first band took the stage. The first band was my favorite of
the three, Fuel. Fuel made a calm but cool appearance, and put on what I felt to be a great show.
After they were done, I thought that the eighteen dollars I spent to buy a ticket was already well
worth it.
Fuel has many songs on the radio, so the fans sang along and seemed to have a good time.
I also found myself getting extremely into their performance at times, and screaming out their
lyrics in unison. After they exited the stage I heard a couple of nearby fans wishing they had
played longer. Overall, their performance was outstanding. As we waited for the next band to take
the stage, more people filtered into the arena. As more people arrived, I found the noise level to
jump also. The space in front of the stage that I was occupying, seemed to get smaller and smaller
as more people squeezed in. After another tedious wait,
Buckcherry arrived. Their entrance was a little bit louder and more fans seemed to get into it
this time. As they played, I realized their music to be very heavy and thrashing at times. One
song almost gave me a headache. On the up side, I enjoyed one of their songs a lot. It is called All
Lit Up . It gained great airplay on the radio a couple of years ago, and I actually have it in my
collection at home. When Buckcherry performed this song I found myself jumping up and down
along with the crowd. It is a real

Culture is a concept that has broad connotations with many different interpretations, it relates to all
aspects of physical life and spiritual life of the human. According to anthropologists, culture is the
major way in which humans adapt to their environments and give meaning to their lives. Or in other
words, cultureis the most visible face of a society. If we take a look into culture, we can see most
of aspects of a whole society. For example, in everyday life, culture is generally understood as

Stray Animals From Jackson County
Stray Animals in Jackson County As you drive through the curvy roads here in Jackson County,
you experience many things, such as the sharp curves, random pot holes, and of course you can
t forget about the dead animals or starving strays you pass every now and then. Stray animals are
an issue most everywhere in the U.S, Jackson County is no different than anywhere else in that
sense. What really makes us different is the fact that we have all of these pitiful stray animals
that are starving and freezing, some even being ran over, and we choose to ignore the problem.
Some people in the community may say there s nothing we can do other than ignoring the issue.
I see otherwise, although it may not be possible to solve this problem completely, there are still
some possible solutions. For example, one of the possible solutions for this issue could be to add
an animal shelter, or an animal rescue center somewhere within the community or county. Adding
an animal shelter, or animal rescue center would open up a temporary source of food and shelter
for these stray animals within the community. According to ASPCA More than 35% of cats are

Examples Of First Impression In Beowulf
It takes one tenth of a second to make a first impression. There is evolutionary basis behind this
split second decision, because it was once important to know in an instant whether or not someone
is a friend or foe. Unfortunately, research has shown that a first impression is relatively stable and
unlikely to change even with prolonged exposure to the person. Many aspects of an individual s

But, after reading up on developmental psychology and the psychology of relationships it seems
that women have used their looks and sexuality in order to gain power and status. Queen
Elizabeth I wrote, The weight and greatness of this matter might cause in me, being a woman
wanting both wit and memory , Elizabeth was known to utilize her sexuality in order to gain
political favor by toying with other powerful figures. This was not something that she was

This use of sexuality as power over men was seen in The Twelfth Night, he is yours, and his

women during the time. We nowadays are so quick to judge saying that women were powerless

Voodoo Culture
Zombies
Zombies were and still are used in everyday television shows and films such as the show The
Walking Dead and they are portrayed as scary, flesh eating monsters that come up from the grave
and terrorize their environment. A man named George A Romero really helped bring the idea of
the dead coming back to life into pop culture. But what really makes a zombie, a zombie? There are
a lot of monsters that can be described the same way as zombies but this definition is what
classifies them and puts them in the category as zombies. A zombie is an undead being created
through the reanimation of a human corpse. The term comes from Haitian folklore, where a
zombie is a dead body reanimated through various methods, and the most commonly known way is
through black magic or voodoo (Wikipedia 1).
To understand how powerful Vodou, or as we commonly see it, Voodoo is, we must first learn
where it originated from and how it is used and incorporated into the everyday lives of the
people who use it. Voodoo practice and culture did not come from Haiti, despite popular belief. It
originated from Africa and was brought to Haiti when slaves were migrated down there. When
some hear the word voodoo, the first thing they think about is an evil force that people use to
destroy others lives. This has not always been the case. Voodoo was seen as some sort of religion
where people were constantly communicating with the dead asking for protection, guidance, etc. In
turn, the people would have to

Eassy On Deforestation
Deforestation is a commonly known environmental issue across our world today, yet still has a
long posed threat to our earth. Deforestation is a permanent process of humans removing a forest
or stand of trees where the land is later converted to a non forest use. The forest covers over 30%
of our planets land, and the ecosystems they create are essential for life. Not not only do forests
produce vital oxygen but provides homes and shelter for people and wildlife. Forests provide a
habitat for over 80% of the animals living on land and even for a large majority of humans, who
rely on rainforests for their daily food. In addition they provide protection from flooding and
sandstorms. But, deforestationis utterly diminishing them, at an extremely fast rate. It is estimated
that 4 to 6,000 rainforestspecies go extinct each year.
Deforestation occurs in different places around the world, tropical rainforests however are the most
common and targeted areas. The tropical forests are forests that span both sides of the Equator and
they are the most. They are the most diverse ecosystems on the planet. Brazil has the highest rate in
the world, since 1970 over 600,000 square kilometres of the Amazon Rainforest has been destroyed.
At the current rate of destruction, 100 years from now our forests could completely disappear. In
the Amazon for example, around 20% of the forests have been completely destroyed in the last 50
years, only due to forest conversion for cattle ranching.

are they just agreeing with everybody else? I believe racism is wrong because God created us all
equally. Who are we to judge others? If people say racist remarks to others, they are basically
saying it to God, since He is in every one of us. We do not get to choose how we look, specifically
our skin color, this is the way we were born. No color is better than the other, and we are all equal
in God s eyes. We should get to know somebody first, because like the old saying goes, Don t judge
a book by its cover.
There was definitely racism in the movie, Invictus, some examples more blatant than others. There
was definitely racism between the blacks and whites in the country. The white people were not
happy when Nelson Mandela was elected president. When Mandala gets his new body guards, we
could see the black people looking at them like they did not want them there, and the white body
guards like they also did not want to be there. We could see that the ... Show more content on

He was somebody who was looked up to, not only by his teammates but also his fans. Although
the team did not want to help the children and thought it was a waste of time, Pienaar told them it
was a good thing to do and encouraged them to do so. The team then helped the poor black
children learn how to play rugby. He also listened to what Mandela told him and took his advice,
even though it was coming from a black man. That showed that he did not care about race and
would listen to knowledge regardless of who it came from. There was the same situation when he
invited their maid to come to the final game. The last example of when he was a good and moral
captain was when he stopped his team from celebrating their win to say a prayer. Even though he
was ecstatic that they won, he knew that he could not have done it without God and wanted to

The Impact Of Military Engagements On The Peace, Economy...
The purpose of this paper is to persuade and demonstrate that ongoing Military engagements are
direct contributors to the peace, economy and political stability throughout Southeast Asia.
The History and Economic Relationships After the Spanish American war a series of opportunities
brought a lot of regional players and foreign powers to the Philippines, the United States took the
position that Spain once had. The Unites States saw the Philippines islands as a strategic place that
would open commerce and trade to the far east Asia from the beginning and their stance did not
change after their surrender. After World War II (WWII) most countries in Southeast Asiabecame
independent. Most countries in the region share a business and trade relationship which is in favor
of their individual and collective growth, while some others share problems with migration, limited
resources and political vitality. For some time, the United States have been a key influencer of
stability providing military presence and advising countries throughout southeast Asia to maintain
territorial and economic integrity. After the independence of a few countries in Indochina, countries
with India and China influences located in the same continental area, the Vietnam War began with
the communist North Vietnam attempt to conquer the south. By the end of the war in 1975
neighbor countries of Laos and Cambodia were also governed by communists. During this era the

Tyson Foods Projected Revenues, Current Assets, and...
Tyson Foods
In the last few quarters, Tyson Foods has been facing tremendous pressures from rising food prices
and slumping demand for their products. However, in spite of these issues, Wall Street analysts are
optimistic that the company will realize strong annual growth in the next two years. To fully
understand what is taking place requires carefully examining how current assets and liabilities are
impacting executives strategies. ( Tyson Foods, 2012) ( Tyson Foods, 2013) (Graham, 1976)
This will be accomplished by looking at: next year s revenues forecast (based upon a 20%
increase), working capital recommendations that can be utilized to increase the bottom line results,
the effects of this rise on the firm s working capital policy and lessons learned / areas for further
development in the future. Together, these elements will highlight the underlying strengths and
weaknesses of the company in the long term. It is at this point when specific recommendations
can be provided to help managers effectively deal with these issues. ( Tyson Foods, 2012) ( Tyson
Foods, 2013) (Graham, 1976)
Assume next year s forecasted revenues increase by 20%.Г‚
If the company is able to see an increase in revenues by 20%, it means that Tyson Foods will see
an improvement in the current assets and liabilities by similar amounts. This will help the firm to
have a stronger balance sheet from increased demand for their products. These changes will create
higher costs for feed, chicken,

Funeral Rites Of Misenus
The introduction of Misenus into the beginning Book VI of the Aeneid demonstrates the Roman
belief that a dead body brings pollution: both physically and spiritually. In order to combat this
Aeneas is instructed to carry him to his place of rest and lay him in a tomb. Then you must bring
black cattle to begin purification . This purification ritual exemplifies the notion that a dead body
brings pollution to the community it is found within. The in depth funeral rites described in Book
VI in regards to Misenus exemplify the modern Roman belief and rituals regarding death. First
they lit a large pyre with Misenus armour placed on top. Secondly they heated water cauldrons to
wash and anointed his body and then placed him in his familial purple robes: further exemplifying
the importance of body purification. Then there are descriptions of lighting the pyre and offerings
being burnt: incense, sacrificial food, and bowls filled with oil. The ashes are then cooled with
wine and placed in a bronze casket that is then carried around the comrades thrice. Finally, in this
description, a mound is made and in this case called Mount Misenus: a lasting memory. The funeral
rites of Misenus demonstrate important, modern, roman qualities. In the Bronze Age, when the
myth of Aeneasis set, traditions toward burialand death were different. The fact that Virgildepicts
this ancient, mythological funeral in an Augustan Rome manner exemplifies the importance of this
burial, thus

The Marine Corps Is An Equal Opportunity Military Branch...
George S Patton once said, Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory (
Motivational Quotes. BrainyQuote. Xplore. Web. 04 May 2016.). As a Marine I was taught to
always accept challenges that are thrown at me, and to never to give up no matter how big or small
the challenge is. If the MarineCorps is an equal opportunity military branch of service so should the

military service the Marine Corps holds their selves to a higher standard in everything but especially
when it comes to their height/weight standards and overall appearance in their uniforms. Physical
fitness requirements and overall health plays an important part in how both men and women
Marines try to maintain their weight.
In the Marine Corps though men and women both serve together they often aren t treated the
same in certain areas. When it comes to weight standards a female and male can be the same height
but a male is allowed to weigh more than a female. For instance, taller women are allowed to weigh
more, with the weight limit set at 164 pounds for a woman who is 5 foot 8 and 184 pounds for a
woman who is 6 feet tall. By comparison, male Marines are allowed to weigh more but must
maintain a lower body fat composition . A man in the service is allowed to weigh up to 180 pounds
at 5 foot 8, and up to 202 pounds at 6 feet tall ( Female Marines May Be Allowed to Bulk up as

E. Coli Experiment
Introduction
In the experiment we conducted there were many method in which we could have used to help us
manipulate and identify bacterium on different agar plates. First part of the experiment involved
the manipulation of the bacterial growth where we used different streaking methods to see which
method was best suited to give me colonies. We have used 2 types of bacteria Escherichia coli (E.
coli) and Yakult (Lactobacillus casei). E. coli is a bacteria that is rod shaped, Gram negative and
is a genus of enterobacteriacae, the rate of its growth varies on if the right conditions are met which
include the right PH, temperature, energy source and nutrient. Yakult consists of probiotic bacteria
which is good bacteria that is beneficial to our digestive system and in each bottle of ... Show more

MacConkey agar is a selective agar which is a good medium to use for E. coli since it does not
contain bile salt and crystal violet, it contains a PH indicator which gives it colour red, it is also
a disaccharide known as lactose. Lactose is a sugar molecule that is derived from Galactose and
glucose . MRS agar was developed by de Man, Rogosa and Sharpe who decided it was best to
have a different media which can be used for cultivating bacteria, this media is nonselective and
lactobacillus can grow on it, they found out that acetate and citrate helps the growth of lactobacillus
(De MAN, ROGOSA, and SHARPE, 1960). Gram staining was first used by Hans Christian Gram
who devised this method to help identify bacteria, Gram positive bacteria have a bigger
peptidoglycan and smaller lipid content in comparison to Gram negative bacteria. This was first
tested in 1882 and later published in 1884, it the most common technique used by microbiologist.
Being able to manipulate bacteria gives us an advantage to understand its structure, function, time
taken to asexually reproduce etc. This information can be used to either coming close to curing the
bacteria or changing the bacteria to

The Historical and Colonial Context of Brian Friel’s...
The Historical and Colonial Context of Brian Friel s Translations
Regarded by many as Brian Friel s theatrical masterpiece, Seamus Deane described Translations
as a sequence of events in history which are transformed by his writing into a parable of events in
the present day (Introduction 22). The play was first produced in Derry in 1980. It was the first
production by Field Day, a cultural arts group founded by Friel and the actor Stephen Rea, and
associated with Deane, Seamus Heaney and Tom Paulin.
As Deane asserts, the play is in many respects an intelligent and enlightening metaphor for the
situation in Northern Ireland. The aims of raising cultural awareness and dispelling socio political
apathy in the North were central to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This culminated in the Rebellion of 1798, lead by Wolfe Tone and the Society of United Irishmen,
in which Hugh and Jimmy participated: The road to Sligo. A spring morning. 1798. Going into
battle (445). But, as these characters soon discovered, the rebellion failed resulting in large
executions and the passing of the Act of Union in 1800. This piece of legislation, effective from 1
January 1801, brought Ireland under the direct rule of the British Crown.
1823 saw the rise of Daniel O Connell (the only real person mentioned in the play), a
disillusioned veteran of 1798 who founded the Catholic Association. O Connell campaigned for
better civil rights and social conditions for the Irish people, hence Maire reporting that he said We
should all be learning to speak English (399). O Connell believed that it was necessary to use the
English language in order to allow Ireland to progress in a quickly modernising Western world. In
1829, due to his efforts in Parliament, the Catholic Emancipation Act came into force overturning
the penal laws.
It was at this juncture, when the play takes place, that Britain began to make deeper inroads to Irish
society and culture. An attempt to colonise the mind and the people as opposed to conquering land
through brute force. Translations is Friel s vehicle for representing methods central to the colonial
discourse of Imperialist aspirations. In the foreground of the play

Three legged dogs, blind cats, and caged animals are shown in the commercial to convince viewers
about how much the animals have suffered. This emotional appeal would convince viewers to
donate money in order to save the animals, since the money would be used to rescue more abused
animals. Because the ad generates pity for the animals, it is effective in persuading the viewers to

Once a student enters the building on their first day of school they long await summer break. Yet,
districts around the nation are changing that, instead of giving a two and a half summer vacation,
they are asking students to go to school instead. This is a controversial issue because some parents
agree with the decision, while others don t. Instead of vacations and lying around at home during
summer break, students will be given more textbooks, homework and tests. Although they do attend
schoolthroughout summer break, they do get periods of time off throughout the school year which

If we measured in meters then a=4.9.) t is the time in seconds, v0 is the initial velocity of 30 feet
per second, and s0 is the initial height or 4 feet. Thus we have: h(t)= 16t^2+30t+4 as a model for
the height.
Note that we disregard complicating factors such as air resistance, spin, because the uncertainty and
unpredictability of these factors leads to a much more complicated equation than needed.
(a) Will the flyer reach 20 feet?
Let h(t)=20 and solve:
20= 16t^2+30t+4
16t^2+30t 16=0
Using the quadratic formula, x=( bВ±в€
љ(b^2 4ac))/2a , we can solve for t: x=(
30В±в€
љ(гЂ–30гЂ—^2 4( 16)( 16)))/(2( 16)) The discriminant, x= bВ±в€
љ(b^2 4ac) , is 124 so
there are no real solutions. The flyer will never reach 20 feet with the given initial velocity.
The graph of height vs time:
Height (in feet)
Time (in seconds) (b) What initial velocity is required to achieve a height of 25 ft.?
Let h(t)=25 and solve for V_0: 25= 16t^2+v_0 t+4 16t^2+v_0 t=21 v_0 t=21+16t^2 v_0=21/t+16t
We want to minimize this function. Using calculus we find the minimum to be at t approximately
1.15 seconds and velocity approximately 36.66 feet per

Teacher Discrimination On The Immigrant Children
Source 1: *MUST BE SCHOLARLY ARTICLE
Brown, Christiana S. The Educational, Psychological, and Social Impact of Discrimination on the
Immigrant Child. Migration Policy.org. Migrant Policy Institute, 11 Jan. 2016. Web.
Experiencing discrimination can provoke stress responses similar to post traumatic stress disorder.
Children who experience discrimination from their teachers are more likely to have negative
attitudes about school and lower academic motivation and performance and are at increased risk of
dropping out of high school. In fact, experiences of teacher discrimination shape. children who
experience discrimination from teachers feel worse about their academic abilities and are less likely
to feel they belong at school when compared to students who do not experience discrimination. All
this discourages immigrant students to pursue a high education, preventing them from obtaining any
job that needs more than a high school degree. In turn, when they, later on, have children in High
School, their children will also be discouraged to go beyond high school. This creates a vicious
cycle of repetition, weakening our American Education System. Physiological, children and young
adults in this situation face a likelier possibility to suffer mental illnesses, such as depression and
anxiety. The discrimination they face at schools usually leads to the child to question his own
intelligence, his reason for work, and many other thoughts. They base themselves off what they
learned

Life Expectancy Calculator Validity
Many aspects of life could be significantly improved because of the accumulated life experience
of human livings on the earth. Based on the achievements of many scientists and researchers, it
is reasonable to believe that the average life expectancy over 100 years of age is not a miracle to
achieve. However, although scientists have made a big contribution to the life issue, I believe
the developed technologies still lack reliability and validity in many aspects, which requires
deeper research and investigation. In this essay, I will discuss The Life Expectancy Calculator

For interrater reliability, the test has not been assessed by professionals in the field. Regarding
validity, the test has certain face validity because the questionnaires seem to be reasonable. But,
predictive validity is a concern as Cavanaugh and Blanchard Field (2013) put, no one has figured
out how to predict longevity. The concurrent validity is also not strong for this test because the
test must be validated through other mechanisms or situations such as the measurement of life
expectancy by considering mortality and morbidity (Wood et al., 2006). In short, there are many
other factors such as ethnic, gender, and international differences, which didn t consider in the
test and obviously affect our life expectancy. For instance, the race that a person belongs to
affects his/her life span because some races may be more susceptible to certain diseases than
others. Cultures, beliefs and values of a group of people, definitely would shape the person s life
style too. For example, a certain culture may not appreciate the surgical treatment to remove a
malignant tumor, which would bring added risk for early

the spider, Charlotte, who also decides to help save Wilbur s life, after finding out he will be

Behavior Observation
Introduction
At my job, I worked with two students named John and Jimmy. John and Jimmy are two students
at our school with behavior problems. This week, I focused on observing their behavior in
settings to work on tracking the correct accuracy, reliably, and validity (Cooper, J. O., Heron, T.
E., Heward, W. L. 2007). However, before I could began tracking data I had to come up with two
problem behaviors. The problem behaviors I came up with were Aggression and Non Compliance.
In order, to track these behaviors, I focused on duration and frequency. I will examine these
behaviors using a ABC data sheet.

Conclusion
To this end, as I finished up working with student 1 and student 2. I learn how to be more
efficient while tracking data. I learned the importance of observing behavior in a more accurate,
reliable and valid way. It is vital to track the data accurately because it will allow staff to
determine if a student is making progress or regressing with that target behavior (Cooper, Heron
Heward (2007) During my data collection of these problem behaviors, I made sure i put in my
undivided attention to make sure it was as reliable and accurate as possible

  • 2. How Does Lucy Impact The Victorian Era How long did the Victorian Era last? Queen Victoria of England ruled the throne for over 64 years, however her impact made the Victorian era last for a 150 year. The Victorian era was most known for its censorship and proper allegations. For example, men were, theoretically, hard workers and protectors of the house and family. Subsequently, women tailored to a role that limited their abilities as a citizen as compared to today, which included household chores and such. Lastly, children were to be quite and did not spend much time with their mothers and fathers. Due to society s own harsh expectations of themselves, it impacted other aspects of their lives. This impacted literature and is a major time when authors had to use more profound... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Renfield, a mental patient at Dr. John Seward s mental asylum, is beaten nearly to death, saying, his back is broken. See, both his right arm and left and the whole side of his face are paralyzed (Stoker 297). Renfield is mentally ill and would have been ignored or even tormented by others for his illness, showing Victorianism s harsh ideas towards those who do not fit the perfect idea of a person during this time. Men were, Expected to be as manly, as virile, strong, and robust, as women were believed to be fragile... and continues saying fierce competitors at work, lords of their homes, and protectors of their wives and children (Swisher 75). Renfield in no ways fits this set of beliefs for men during this era and therefore is killed off because Stoker knows that the Victorian people would have wanted and approved of this. Not only was Renfield mentally ill, a disability in this society like most, he is also a vampire and can be associated with the other sexually promiscuous man monsters like the three vampire seductresses or Count Dracula himself. In summary, Renfield s death conveys the ideas of Victorianism because they did not like the mentally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Welcoming Students Into The Classroom Greeting and welcoming students into the classroom occurs before the first day of school. Making sure that my name and the room number is large, clear, and visible outside the room prior to the students arriving on the first day, allows for students to feel comfortable knowing they are entering the right room. When it comes to the first day of schooland everyday after that, greeting students begins by meeting them before they get into the door. Being prepared for them before they walk in is important. Meet them outside the door with a smile, and telling them good morning, or we are going to have an awesome day, something to bring a positive environment, a positive message right off the bat before any academic learning takes place helps with creating a positive classroom environment if they see that the teacher is happy, energetic, and ready to go. As we get to learn every students name and getting to know what their interests are, adding their name to saying good morning, and a high five, a fist bump, etc. will continue to make the student feel secure in the room knowing the teacher cares about me, and wants to interact with me. Classroom rules should be created by the students, but with the basics and the framework created by the teacher. The teacher should know what the big ideas behind three to five main rules they want to apply in their classroom, however, it should be up to the students to determine how to phrase, and what they believe is important for their ... • 4. Pandora s Seed Chapter Summary At its heart, Pandora s Seed, by Spencer Wells, is about the unforeseen consequences resulting from the inexorable march forward in the name of progress originally set in motion thousands of years ago when our Neolithic ancestors decided to grow their own food rather than seeking it out. According to Wells, agricultureis the most important advancement of the last 50,000 years, and the consequences of the shift from hunter gatherer bands to settlements based around agricultural exploits are more far reaching than anyone could have possibly known. The book begins by exploring gene variations in the humangenome, and finding genes that show strong signs of selection over the last 10,000 years or so. This is possible due to relatively recent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Humans had little contact with live animals before they began domesticating them. Hunters often handled dead animals, which meant blood borne infections were somewhat common, but on the whole communicable disease wasn t a problem like it is now. According to Wells, the clearing of land for agricultural activities, and the need for standing or slow moving water for irrigation led to increases in the number of mosquitoes encountered by humans, and as a result this led to more communicable disease, specifically malaria. This susceptibility to communicable disease is one that has already been addressed via natural selection. The gene responsible for causing sickle cell anemia also happens to make people resistant to malaria, and we see this gene in 25% of African people living in malaria problem area, which is strong evidence for that gene being selected for. A resistance to malaria gives individuals in that area a higher chance of surviving and passing their genes onto another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Synthesis Of Hexane Lab Report The purpose of this lab is to gain a greater understanding of the reactions between aldehydes and amines and of their usefulness in synthesis and biology. The lab is divided into 3 steps, the first step is imine formation, second step is reduction of the imine, and the last step is acylation of the imine. The imine formed is a primary imine, the first two steps of the lab make up reductive amination1. The formation of the imine is carried out by adding 0.213 grams of ortho vallin, the aldehyde, and .150 grams of para toluidine. The solids were grinded until homogenous, one layer is formed. The crystals went from brown to orange liquid layer. The bi product of imine formation is water, and OH gets protonated and come off during the reaction. Recrystallization is done to get rid of water. Hexane is used as the recrystallization solventbecause it is non polar, like the imine. The mass is 0.3365 grams and the percent yield is 99.6%. There was some product lost on the stirring rod. The IR showed a peak at 2942.40 indicating a methyl group and a peak at 1593.67 and 1614.90... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sodium borohydride is a reducing agent that reduces double bonds. The solution went from orange then to a cloudy white precipitate. The bright orange in the first step is because of imine formation. Lack of colour, after the addition of NaBH4, shows imine is no longer there it has been reduced. That amine is now formed evident by the white precipitate. Sodium Borohydride is highly reactive, so it needs a protic solvent like ethanol to help stabilize. This is why ethanol is added before the sodium borohydride. The formation of imine happens at acidic conditions and ethanol makes sure the solution does not get to acidic otherwise amine is not formed. Sodium borohydride is waited to be added, because if added before the imine is formed it reduces the intermediate and not the imine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Clay Bust Analysis Most of my pieces have everything to do with personal inspiration, and ideas that I ended up coming with from either reference photos or my very own imagination. I Intended on focusing my creativity on detail and perseverance, there were times during the clay bust project where my project fell apart or cracked numerous times, and I had to struggle a bit to piece it back together. As I began my clay bust project, I came in with various ideas and motivations that eventually morphed into my final piece. I started with jotting ideas that included; Anime sculpting, Alien faces, and Women Facial structures. Eventually, I decided on the Alien piece and began sculpting. I mentioned earlier how I faced certain troubles when dealing with my piece, including it falling apart when having to take out the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It gives me an idea what struggle looks like in a sense, since it fell apart numerous times and I spent an extra amount of time trying to perfect it. My intended audience could be people who aren t really expecting a surprise, and then they re introduced to my piece and have a different reaction that reflects the personality of the piece. For example, they would see it and automatically think that it s some kind of bird creature, and it ll keep people guessing and thinking, yet they won t be able to turn away from the piece. Most of the rest of my pieces are very abstract, and detailed, which is where I believe my bust sculpture fits in perfectly. Besides the amount of time put into this specific piece, I believe that the amount of detail, tone, and color added onto it also relates to the rest of my pieces, for example my clay mask sculpture which included two different colors, yet it I added detail throughout both of them to show facial expressions and setting the tone for each individual ... The sibling relationship is one of the longest lasting relationships in most people s lives and one of the most prevalent (Avidan, p21). The sibling relationship has many delicate and intricate issues like conflicts, rivalry, despite these negative impacts this relationship is one of the closest relationships. The siblings help one another and give emotional support when it is needed. The quality of sibling kinship is closely associated with social development and the psychological characteristics of the children. Specifically, Tan uses sisterhood as a structure for the representation and regulation of cultural differences among women. The Hundred Secret Senses does not offer an admired development of sisterhood but rather gives a refined investigation of the philosophy of sisterhood and stresses the impact of the sister relationship in creating ethnic consciousness and identity. For Tan, sisterhood envelops biological bonding as well as poignant cultural heritage. The bond between the two half sisters in The Hundred Secret Senses is loaded with equivocalness created by synchronous sentiments of equality and difference. Psychologically, Olivia, the sister who typifies the ethnic other, has been perceived as a fundamental piece of the American self. The key occasions in her psychological development her isolation from Simon, her refusal of her heritage and rejection of her sister, her guiltiness, her developing valuation for Chinese culture, and her longings towards meaningful kinships are all associated with her sister Kwan and their advancing relationship. Kwan turns out to be, in the expressions of Downing, an oblivious manual for Olivia s trip toward self and psyche, that is, toward an expanded consciousness of her roots and ethnic ... • 8. Life Long Learning Is The Key Axiom Of Life Learning is one of the greatest aspects of life. Accepting that learning from all experiences leads to the greatest version of yourself and your ultimate accomplishments is a key axiom of life. I believe that lifelong learning is the most important concept and skill to have. A large amount of skills that make people successful in their professional and academic careers comes from unconventional learningwhich is a major part of the lifelong learningprocess. Unconventional learning develops many very practical and applicable skills that help in a variety of areas. These unconventional concepts paired with conventional learning and the ever growing drive for knowledge is known as Life Long Learning. Lifelong Learning is the most important concept to grasp. There are three categories of learning that are associated with lifelong learning. They are Formal Learning , which is affiliated with the typical brick and mortar school. Formal learning is any clearly identified learning activity that takes place in an organized, structured setting that leads to certification (Taylor, Trumpower, and Pavic). The next type of learning is Non Formal Learning.Non Formal Learning is learning that usually coincides with Formal education but is not measured or certified for proficiency. An example of this would be someone going to a public speaking convention and learning new public speaking skills but its does not lead to certification. The last type of learning is Informal ... • 9. The Theories Of Personality Theories Diana Maxwell BEH /225 6/19/2015 Prof. Christina Gonzalez Many psychologists have formed important theories regarding personality. Some of these theories are still relevant to our world today. These theories have helped form humans and they have also changed the way we think and the way we do things. There are many different forms of personality theories that have shaped the world for us: Biological, Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Humanist, Trait, etc. Biological theories are based on genetics and they believe that genetics are responsible for personality. Behavioral theories suggest that personality is the reason for interaction between others. Psychodynamic theories are mostly based on the works of Sigmund Freud. These theories state that the unconscious mind and childhood has effects in personality. Humanist theories believe that the ability to be free and have experience on one s own effects personality. The final personality theory it the Traits theories. This theory states that personality is passed along by traits. The many personality theories still may not be just enough information for us to understand why everyone has a different personality, but the theories do help us to have a broader understanding of it. Famous psychologists such as Sigmund Freud, Carl Rogers, Carl Jung, etc are responsible for making these theories understandable. They are great thinkers who have proposed many intelligent theories and reasons for personality. Some of these theories are still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The serious case of heart failure develops when other health conditions cause the heart to work harder or become damaged due to increased stress. Heart failure is usually a chronic disease. It gradually tends to become worse. By the time someone is diagnosed with it, the heart has most likely begun to lose pumping capacity for quits some time. Nearly five million Americans are living with heart failure and 550,000 new cases are diagnosed each year. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This excess fluid or congestion is where the term congestive heart failure comes from. Right sided failure is often a result of left sided failure. When the left side fails, increased fluid pressure develops in the lungs and damages the heart s right side. When pumping power is lost in the right side, blood backs up in the veins causing swelling in the legs and ankles. The heart tries to make up for loss of pumping capacity in three ways enlarging, developing more muscle mass, and pumping faster. By enlarging, the heart contracts more strongly and pumps more blood. When the contracting cells of the heart increase in size, an increase in muscle mass also occurs. Pumping faster helps to increase the heart s output. The body also does other things to help compensate for the loss in power in the heart. Blood vessels narrow to keep the blood pressure up. The body diverts the majority of the blood to the heart and the brain. Eventually the heart can t keep up and the person will suffer from fatigue, breathing problems or various other symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, loss of appetite, nausea, confusion, or increased heart rate. Factors such as smoking, being overweight, having a diet high in fat and cholesterol, and not exercising can contribute to heart failure. This refers to the economic exchange of goods and services internationally and international financial flows. (Carr and Chen, 2001). Through the perspective of an optimistic globalist, tradehas brought an increase in the volume of trade, whereas, pessimistic globalist suggests that globalizationon the world economy has made the world less diverse and homogenous. FDIs can also help to create more jobs for by investing in more companies and further increase more investments flowing in. As FDIs is one of the key instrumental in affecting the economy, globalization can help to further facilitate the movement of it which supports the argument of the optimistic globalist. Secondly, the other positive effect of globalization on the world economy is how it may equalize wealth distribution. After the 2000s financial crisis, there was a slow and weak economic growth. Those in the higher income was able to suffer losses while those who were in the middle to lower income were struggling which suggest the widening in income gap. However, the idea of globalization in the eyes of the optimistic is that the increased volume of trade, the access to advancement in technology across the world and stretched communication internationally can help to improve the situation. As the world gets more interconnected, the intensification of goods and services moving across nations increases. This would suggest that there is an increase in trade which will ... • 13. My Life With Drinking Water 9:15. This is the time that I awoke on yet another seemingly average Thursday morning. I groggily force myself to rise from the warm sanctuary of my multiple blankets and pillows in order to start my day. After the hour or so of preparing for the day ahead, I decide that it is time to hydrate myself by drinking water. However, this is not just any ordinary water. It is Dasani, my favorite affordable brand of bottled water. As I reach my refrigerator, I am met with immense dismay as I learn that my supply has been emptied out. Seeing as though I typically go grocery shopping anyway on Thursdays, this disappointment did not ruin my day. I go through my day as usual by going to my classes for the day. When they end, I prepare for my journey out to the store. I must find the one thing I allow to quench my thirst, Dasani. I go through the local Kroger as usual, picking up any food that I find will last me and my roommate for a week or two. Then, I enter the beverage aisle. My entire day has been leading up to this moment. I speed past the numerous sugary options and head straight to the bottled water. My eyes scan through the various options. After a few seconds of intense searching, my eyes lock onto the green and blue packaging of the reliable bottled water, Dasani. As if it was a reflex, my body rushes towards the case and lifts up the slightly heavy twenty four case of the bottled water. Hormones are natural chemicals produced in one place, secreted into the bloodstream and then used by other organs and target systems. Hormones control the target organs. Some organic systems have their own internal control systems in place of the hormones or together with them. As we get older, natural changes occur in the way in which body systems are controlled. Some target tissues become less sensitive to the hormone that controls them. The amount of hormones produced can also change. The blood levels of some hormones increase, those of others decrease and those of some others remain unchanged. Hormones also break down (metabolize) more slowly. • 15. The Origins Of Christianity And Christianity Christianity is one of the most common religions of the world and was founded in the early stages of time as we know it. Christianity was formed by the power of one man, Jesus Christ, whose life was unexplainably different from anyone else s of his time. The influences of his character, beliefs, customs, and teachings, are the foundation of the religion today. Throughout time and as more knowledge was gained and received, the customs of the religion changed and new smaller groups broke free from tradition and formed themselves into their own organizations. Every event that happened shaped the religion, but the messiah or better known as the Son of God, played the most important role. JesusChrist born circa 6 B.C in Bethlehem which is the south city of Jerusalem was born of Virgin Mary and Joseph, but as the author states, Christians have believed that Jesus was born in Bethlehem. The details are fully explained in the rabbinic interpretation which is provided in the Old Testament. (Fisher, 2014, 305) There is very little written about Jesus s early life. But what is said in The Gospel of Luke (2:41 52) conveys that when Jesus was 12 years old, he had accompanied his parents on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and they became disunited. After a few days, he was found in a temple conversing affairs with some of Jerusalem s elders. Throughout the New Testament, there are a few trace references of Jesus working as a carpenter while he was a young adult. Moreover, at age 30 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hofstede (1980, pp. 21 23) defines culture as the collective programming of the mind distinguishing the members of one group or category of people from another . This essay examines Hofstede s cultural framework and suggests that Hofstede s cultural framework is an outstanding and authoritative tool to analyze culture differences. In this essay, cultural frameworks will be discussed firstly, following by a discussion of my cultural scores and background. Finally, recommendations on cross cultural management between China and Australia will be provided. Discussion of cultural frameworks Geert Hofstede developed the widely applied Hofstede s cultural dimensions, which mainly focuses on how different countries with different cultural backgrounds handle different anthropological problems that occur in cross cultural communication (Hofstede 1980). My elements where the first 30 games of 2016 like stated before, and my variables were goals for, goals against, the result of the game and the distance traveled. The elements are listed by the day and I also listed who the opponent was so one can tell if it was an away game or a homegame. For the first variable, result of the game, I put the outcomes in a table and also made a pie chart showing their frequency. There were four possible outcomes, win, loss, overtime loss, and shootout loss. The reason why I did this variable is because each result helps or hurts the team in some way. When the team gets a win in any way they get two points, when they lose in regulation, they get two points, and if they lose in either overtime or in a shootout they only get one point. Turns out the Albany Devils won over half of their first 30 games in 2016, with a total of 18 wins. They earn zero points in seven of the sampled games. In 17% of the sampled games they earn only one point per game. The team did not even have one overtime loss. The exhibition impressively manages to capture the development of art during the period in a way of which the disinterest of most is turned into intrigue and knowledge. The exhibition focuses on the relationship between painting and photography, the largely experimental period in which this developed coincided with the founding of the Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood. Paintings by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, John Everett Millais and John Singer Sargent are included (and personally i believe they are the highlights of the exhibition) are shown side by side with the photos they inspired and of subjects they drew inspiration from. The Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood was a secret society of the mid 19th century that sought to create a new form of British art. They strived to emulate art from the late medieval period, early renaissance till the of Raphael, striving to convey messages of artistic renewal and moral reform. This theme combined with Aesthetic and Impressionist works gives the richness in culture and a great span in examples that supply ample contextual and visual support for the idea the exhibition is conveying. • 33. Essay on Kid Rock, Fuel, and Buckcherry Kid Rock, Fuel, and Buckcherry For my first critical essay, I have chosen to review my attendance and experience at a rock concert. On Thursday January 18, at the Scottenstein Center in Columbus, I attended the concert of the controversial Kid Rock. Other performers at the show included rock bands Fuel and Buckcherry. Although there were only three bands that preformed that night, I found another source of entertainment within the crowd of people; the wild antics of the die hard fans. In my essay I will try and attempt to describe as realistically as possible, my experience. Prior to the concert I had been somewhat familiar with all three bands music. I was excited to attend the show, but I didn t know what to expect. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After about a twenty minute wait, the first band took the stage. The first band was my favorite of the three, Fuel. Fuel made a calm but cool appearance, and put on what I felt to be a great show. After they were done, I thought that the eighteen dollars I spent to buy a ticket was already well worth it. Fuel has many songs on the radio, so the fans sang along and seemed to have a good time. I also found myself getting extremely into their performance at times, and screaming out their lyrics in unison. After they exited the stage I heard a couple of nearby fans wishing they had played longer. Overall, their performance was outstanding. As we waited for the next band to take the stage, more people filtered into the arena. As more people arrived, I found the noise level to jump also. The space in front of the stage that I was occupying, seemed to get smaller and smaller as more people squeezed in. After another tedious wait, Buckcherry arrived. Their entrance was a little bit louder and more fans seemed to get into it this time. As they played, I realized their music to be very heavy and thrashing at times. One song almost gave me a headache. On the up side, I enjoyed one of their songs a lot. It is called All Lit Up . It gained great airplay on the radio a couple of years ago, and I actually have it in my collection at home. Stray animals are an issue most everywhere in the U.S, Jackson County is no different than anywhere else in that sense. What really makes us different is the fact that we have all of these pitiful stray animals that are starving and freezing, some even being ran over, and we choose to ignore the problem. Some people in the community may say there s nothing we can do other than ignoring the issue. I see otherwise, although it may not be possible to solve this problem completely, there are still some possible solutions. For example, one of the possible solutions for this issue could be to add an animal shelter, or an animal rescue center somewhere within the community or county. Voodoo Culture Zombies Zombies were and still are used in everyday television shows and films such as the show The Walking Dead and they are portrayed as scary, flesh eating monsters that come up from the grave and terrorize their environment. A man named George A Romero really helped bring the idea of the dead coming back to life into pop culture. But what really makes a zombie, a zombie? There are a lot of monsters that can be described the same way as zombies but this definition is what classifies them and puts them in the category as zombies. A zombie is an undead being created through the reanimation of a human corpse. The term comes from Haitian folklore, where a zombie is a dead body reanimated through various methods, and the most commonly known way is through black magic or voodoo (Wikipedia 1). To understand how powerful Vodou, or as we commonly see it, Voodoo is, we must first learn where it originated from and how it is used and incorporated into the everyday lives of the people who use it. Voodoo practice and culture did not come from Haiti, despite popular belief. It originated from Africa and was brought to Haiti when slaves were migrated down there. When some hear the word voodoo, the first thing they think about is an evil force that people use to destroy others lives. This has not always been the case. Voodoo was seen as some sort of religion where people were constantly communicating with the dead asking for protection, guidance, etc. In turn, the people would have to ... In order to combat this Aeneas is instructed to carry him to his place of rest and lay him in a tomb. Then you must bring black cattle to begin purification . This purification ritual exemplifies the notion that a dead body brings pollution to the community it is found within. The in depth funeral rites described in Book VI in regards to Misenus exemplify the modern Roman belief and rituals regarding death. First they lit a large pyre with Misenus armour placed on top. Secondly they heated water cauldrons to wash and anointed his body and then placed him in his familial purple robes: further exemplifying the importance of body purification. Then there are descriptions of lighting the pyre and offerings being burnt: incense, sacrificial food, and bowls filled with oil. • 53. Life Expectancy Calculator Validity Many aspects of life could be significantly improved because of the accumulated life experience of human livings on the earth. Based on the achievements of many scientists and researchers, it is reasonable to believe that the average life expectancy over 100 years of age is not a miracle to achieve. However, although scientists have made a big contribution to the life issue, I believe the developed technologies still lack reliability and validity in many aspects, which requires deeper research and investigation. In this essay, I will discuss The Life Expectancy Calculator (LEC). The test I found online is a Living to 100 LEC. The calculator is measured based on self reports relevant to one s health and family medical history. At the end of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For interrater reliability, the test has not been assessed by professionals in the field. Regarding validity, the test has certain face validity because the questionnaires seem to be reasonable. But, predictive validity is a concern as Cavanaugh and Blanchard Field (2013) put, no one has figured out how to predict longevity. The concurrent validity is also not strong for this test because the test must be validated through other mechanisms or situations such as the measurement of life expectancy by considering mortality and morbidity (Wood et al., 2006). In short, there are many other factors such as ethnic, gender, and international differences, which didn t consider in the test and obviously affect our life expectancy. For instance, the race that a person belongs to affects his/her life span because some races may be more susceptible to certain diseases than others. Cultures, beliefs and values of a group of people, definitely would shape the person s life style too. For example, a certain culture may not appreciate the surgical treatment to remove a malignant tumor, which would bring added risk for early ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Animal Farm Heroism Essay Heroism on the Farm Who Has It? What would you sacrifice in order to save the runt of a litter of pigs? Would you sacrifice anything at all? How far would you go in order to save this pig? These questions are answered in E.B. White s Charlotte s Web, in which an eight year old named Fern saves the runt of the pigs litter. The story follows the journey of this girl, her pig Wilbur, and the spider, Charlotte, who also decides to help save Wilbur s life, after finding out he will be slaughtered to feed the Zuckerman family on Christmas. Templeton, the farm s rat, also contributes in some ways to saving Wilbur, but only does so because he relies on Wilbur for food and other selfish reasons. In The Power of Myth, Joseph Campbell describes a hero... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He only searches for a word for Charlotte in the dump because one of the sheep points out Wilbur s food is Templeton s main food source. The sheep also convinces Templeton to go to the County Fair with Charlotte and Wilbur by explaining the delicacies he would find there at night. Get Charlotte s egg sac for me, and from now on I will let you eat first, when Lurvy slops me. I will let you have your choice of everything in the trough and I won t touch a thing until you re through. (White, 168) This quote, is one of the final scenes of the story, describes Wilbur, in a desperate attempt to take Charlotte s egg sac back to the farm with him, as he tells Templeton he will get to eat first from his trough for the rest of his life. E.B. White builds Templeton as this character through word choice and diction when referring to him. On page 46, the rat is described as having no morals, no conscience, no scruples, no consideration, no decency, no milk of rodent kindness, no compunctions, no higher feeling, no friendliness, no anything. The rat is greedy and self centered, and is not considered a hero for these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Behavior Observation Introduction At my job, I worked with two students named John and Jimmy. John and Jimmy are two students at our school with behavior problems. This week, I focused on observing their behavior in settings to work on tracking the correct accuracy, reliably, and validity (Cooper, J. O., Heron, T. E., Heward, W. L. 2007). However, before I could began tracking data I had to come up with two problem behaviors. The problem behaviors I came up with were Aggression and Non Compliance. In order, to track these behaviors, I focused on duration and frequency. I will examine these behaviors using a ABC data sheet. Student 1 The first student I observed was a 6th grader. This student suffers from emotional disability. He often engages in physical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conclusion To this end, as I finished up working with student 1 and student 2. I learn how to be more efficient while tracking data. I learned the importance of observing behavior in a more accurate, reliable and valid way. It is vital to track the data accurately because it will allow staff to determine if a student is making progress or regressing with that target behavior (Cooper, Heron Heward (2007) During my data collection of these problem behaviors, I made sure i put in my undivided attention to make sure it was as reliable and accurate as possible Reference: Cooper, J. • 56. Case Overview Ch 1-7 From Evernote:| Midterm Cases| Chapter 1: Davis v. Baugh Indus. Contractors, Inc. Trial Court dismissed the suit saying it was property owner s fault. Issue: An employee of the property owner was killed when a concrete wall collapsed. Should the risk of liability stay only on the property owner, or extend to a contractor? Rule: For the past forty years it has been the rule that liability belongs only to the property owner (and not a contractor, even if the contractor was negligent). However, thirty seven states have rejected that rule and a contractor is liable for injury or damage as a result of negligent work, when it was reasonably... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that the law of a single state does not necessarily control all issues in the case and the center of gravity approach is applied to each issue. And, where the center of gravity indicates one state, if the other state s law is contrary to the deeply ingrained and strongly felt public policy of this state, we may enforce this state s law. Application: Tennessee law violated Mississippi s deeply ingrained public policy that oral contracts cannot be formed by or enforced against county boards of supervisors. Conclusion: Mississippi law controls and the district court was correct to dismiss the claim. Chapter 3: Cooper Tire amp; Rubber v.
