Analysis Of Opposites In Phaedo Socrates
In the Phaedo Socrates argues that life is shaped by opposite, things are formed from the
changing of one opposite to another. Socrates believes life plays out in cycles. Such, as in literary
cycles where an end comes from a beginning so too follows the cycle of life and death, from where
a death comes another life. From this theory of cycling opposites comes the argument that things
can only exist from their opposites. Socrates beings the argument with his desire to show that in all
opposites there is of necessity a similar alternation. by this he means that something cannot become
greater without before being less. Within the process of changing from one opposite to another
there are intermediates which are the agents of change. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In this question we see the opposites theory presented in a more spiritual light. He explains that
death comes from the prior existence of life, and life comes from the presence of soul. So, there
for soul is on a continuous cycle of life and death. Since his argument states that everything in
life comes from opposites why should the cycle of life and death be presented any differently?
While the two opposites are clear one of the intermediates is much more abstract. One of the two
process or generations is visible. For surly the act of dying is visible. The presence of death can
be seen while the creation of life is less obvious. Socrates then outlines his belief of soul leaving
the body after death. During which time the soul returns to a place of an existence before man.
Socrates introduces this concept of a world beyond human exist where souls reside intermediately
between the death of the vessel and the eventual birth of the dead into the world of the living. This
theory aims to demonstrate how life works but constantly shifting between two opposites. If these
rules are meant to apply to sleeping, waking and all the other accidents; why should they not apply
to living and

Indian Bpo s Essay
Case Study Indian BPOs Waking up to the Philippines Opportunity
1. How has the global economic downturn, discussed in the opening profile and throughout this
chapter, impacted jobs outsourcing in the BPO industry?
The global economic downturn has impacted jobs outsourcing in the BPO industry as it has helped
to be one of the largest job creators in India. Due to this, many companies had to increase their
operations output and therefore employ more and more people to keep up with the expanding trend.
One of the major impacts, being growth and maturity, had an effect on the BPO industry and
contributed to the outsourcing companies and continued growth of the industry. The IT and BPO
outsourcing boom created a huge impact in the Indian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important to continue to attract employees but also maintain existing ones, especially with
job outsourcing, as it is cheap labour you still need to ensure employees are looked after
properly. Personal choice and decision making is another trend that will always be required as
that is what keeps companies competitive. With regards to the BPO industry in India and the
Philippines, this applies as the Philippines are becoming more competitive. Companies may start
choosing the Philippines over India as they have better language skills and less additional costs.
The change in demographics and the rise of the knowledge economy is another trend as companies
want to outsource to countries where the workers are more skilled and have a better grasp of the
English language, this again relates to Philippines over India.
3. What are the effects of the Indian government policies on the Indian BPO industry and on MNC
decisions regarding locations for outsourcing jobs?
Locations for outsourcing jobs is very important as companies need to decide what is going to be
the cheapest option but also the most beneficial in terms of maintaining their remaining clients and
customers, there tends to be quite high volume complaints when it comes to outsourcing jobs,
problems can arise often due to language barriers, so choosing the best location

Richard Posner Counter Terrorism Sparknotes
The book Countering Terrorism was written by Richard A. Posner. Richard A. Posner is not
only an author, but he also serves as a judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit
( University of Chicago, 2015). From 1993 to 2000, he was the chief judge for that exact court (
University of Chicago, 2015). He is currently a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of
Chicago. Richard Posner has written a numerous amount of books aside from the book I ve read,
including The Economics of Justice (1981), Overcoming Law (1995), and Law, Pragmatism, and
Democracy (2003) ( University of Chicago, 2015). Aside from writing books, Richard Posner has

The cabdriver said himself he was a peace abiding person, but he could still turn into a Muslim
terrorist overnight (Countering Terrorism, pg. 227, 2007). He says from his point of view, the
suicide bomber jihadists release the just to go to heaven and rid the world of sinners (Countering
Terrorism, pg. 228, 2007). He also says that his life in the United States is far more better than when
he lived in Pakistan, but he was still prepared to kill if it was god s purpose (Countering
Terrorism, pg. 228, 2007). This proves that even though we ve taken precautionary measures as a
nation to protect the country and the people in it, we re still vulnerable to terrorism because of
immigration and other advances in the world. We re The Land of the Free , we can t refrain from
immigration if immigrants were a possibility as being a threat. Also, we can t control what other
countries do inside their country, we can only control protect ours. Countering Terrorism was a
great book that I would recommend to read if you want to read about a factual opinion about the
intelligence system and the efforts they ve made or tried to make in order to protect our country
from the threat of terrorism. It shows some that the result of a bad event happening puts blame on
the intelligence system as well as the intelligence system causing themselves to look bad by the
choices that they make.

Mark Zuckerberg And Jeff Bezos
Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Benzos are a true inspiration to me. A lot of people listen to others, are
lazy, and will do anything that people tell them. Along the way to success Mark Zuckerberg and
Jeff Bezos have had people tell those that they were stupid and wasting their time on the plan. If
they were just like everyone else; they would have stopped what they were doing and work a
regular 9 5 job like everyone else in the world. Mark Zuckerbergfounded a social media website by
the name of Facebook in his college dorm while he attended Harvard. On Facebook, friends can
interact and stay in touch with each other through pictures and instant messaging. Jeff Bezos
created the internet empire known as amazon.
Mark Zuckerberg was born on May 14, 1984 in White Plains, New York. Mark came from a well
educated family and struggled by no means. Marks mother was a psychiatrist and his father worked
in dentistry. Zuckerberg showed an interest in computers at an premature age and by creating a
messaging program that his dad would use in his workplace so he could connect with the
receptionist without getting up. Zuckerberg attended Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire
where he was the leader of the fencing crew. After high school, Mark attended Harvard for a
projected 2 years. While at Harvard Mark developed a program called course match. Course match
is a program in which students can pick courses based on other enrollments. In 2004, he dropped

Steroids in Major League Baseball
Steroids in Major League Baseball Anabolic steroids have been abused by Major League
Baseball players for years, it s time to forever ban the use of Performance Enhancing Drugs before
they ruin America s past time. Why should athletes be able to cheat when teammates or rivals are
competing with honest effort? Every year records are broken and new heights are achieved, the
game of baseballis very simple yet very humble, and to deceive the game you love, forever will
you be punished. Let me inform you with the origin in which PEDs were first used and where they

Between 1998 and 2009 ten players would join the 500 club. The game was making an uprising,
but was it truthful? Obviously not much changed from before and after illegalization of steroid

related. Baseball is not the game everyone remembers a century ago or even half a century, with
honest players playing for the love of the game, not cutting corners and taking undeserved
achievements. In 1990 Congress passed the Anabolic Steroids Control Act, but didn t say how
the offenders would be caught. The next year MLB Commissioner Fay Vincent made it clear in
a memo that this was very much relevant to baseball. (Rymer) The memo read as follows: The
possession, sale or use of any illegal drug or controlled substance by Major League players and
personnel is strictly prohibited. Major League players or personnel involved in the possession,
sale or use of any illegal drug or controlled substance are subject to discipline by the

drugs and controlled substances, including steroids or prescription drugs for which the individual
in possession of the drug does not have a prescription. (ESPN) Every player who

There exist three types of cyber war. ITC regulatory framework, criminal law, and Law of Armed

war was applied to Russia Georgian conflict because of the actual hostile situation between two

intention was to defend the lives and dignity of its citizens , in South Ossetia and Georgia.Russia

As one of the methods of hackers abuse of E mails and spamming were also used. An E mails of
Georgian politicians were targets of the attack. This is one more coincidence with Estonian case,
where comment and an email spam constituted a notable load on both private and governmental

Methods used by Russian hackers indicate that they have developed detailed plan of campaign
against Georgian internet space before the beginning of the conflict .Also attackers created new
web pages which one more time proves their preparation for the attack.
Supposedly Russian cyber attack was conducted by hackers it is even possible that they were civil
citizens. It is possible that they have coordinated their actions with Russian militaries , however
there are not enough proves for this coordination.
However there exist a lot of details that lead us again to Russia , for example there is an
information from cyber warfare analyses researchers of Dartmouth College, that Moscow has a
track records of cyber attacks on Chechen web sites. In 2002, two of the Chechen rebels web sites,
kavkaz.org and chechenpress.com crashed under hack attacks by the Russian FSB security service.
The website crashes were reportedly timed to occur concurrently or shortly after Russian Special

The Causes Of Al Qaeda And The Attack Of September 11
On September 11, 2001 the United States was attacked by terrorist group name Al Qaeda, they
hijacked four planes and planned on crashing them into American landmarks. Two of the four
planes crashed into the World Trade Center, one plane crashed into the the Pentagon, the last
plane did not make it to intended landmark but, instead crashed into a field. The terrorist attack
on September 11th could not have necessarily have been prevented but, could not has been as
severe. Certain things like lack of government communication, not very thorough background
checks on middle eastern immigrants, lack of proper preparation for possible terrorist attacks
impacted the severity of the situation. On the day of the attack and months prior the government
did not communicate effectively, so it cause the attack to be much worse. Prior to the event
police had been invigilating possible acts of terrorism that could lead to Zacarias Moussaoui,
with all of his information on his computer. Police applied for a search warrant to search through
Moussaoui s computer and were denied, eventually he was accused of being involved in the attack
on September 11th and being in affiliation with Osama Bin Laden. On the day of Al Qaeda s
attack important details were not passed on to the needed government agency. When the first plane
crashed into Tower 1 of the World Trade Center everyone thought that a small commuter plane a
lost control and crashed. When the first Twin Tower was hit police, fire, and

Wallstreet the Movie
The movie Wall Street is a representation of poor morals and disappointing business ethics in the
popular world of business. This movie shows the negative effects that bad business morals can
have on society. The two main characters are Bud Fox played by Charlie Sheen and Gordon Gekko
played by Michael Douglas. Bud Fox is a young stockbroker who comes from an honest working
class family but on the other hand, Gordon Gekko is a millionaire who Bud admires and wants to
be associated with. Greed seems to be a huge theme of this movie. This movie portrays the
unethical society we live in. It shows how money oriented society has become and that people will

Then along with contacts obtained from Bud s years as a stockbroker the shares of Blue Star soar.
When they reach a peak Bud has everyone sell including this investor and Gordon Gekko panics as
he watches his shares of Blue Star drop like a rock. He sells quickly and takes a big loss. However
this changes when Gekko decides to do a corporate raid on Fox s father s company. At this point
Bud Fox must choose between the rich insider s lifestyle offered by working outside the law, or
his father s more traditional blue collar values of fair play and hard work. He chooses to try and
preserve the latter by utilizing what he has learned from Gekko.
To achieve this Bud uses a business rival to break the deal, being indicted for insider trading in the
process. He gets his last revenge by turning state s evidence against Gekko, going to jail himself in
the process.
It is in ones opinion that the movie Wall Street shows the very importantance of the value of
information. If inside information is used to predict stock outcomes it becomes unfair and unjust to
persons without the information. That s why it is illegal. You should not be able to manipulate the
market with information that is not open to the public. The film also showed what can happen if
you practice poor ethics when conducting business, practicing good business ethics helps to
accomplish your goals. Wall Street shows just what can happen

Phantom of the Opera Review
Phantom of the Opera is the longest running musical to date and has become one of the most
beloved and well known musicals on Broadway. The musical was inspired and loosely based on
the characters and the story of the book Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux. This CD is the
original London cast which means that this recording is with the first cast that ever preformed the
musical with the actors that created the parts. The musical was written and composed by Andrew
Lloyd Webberwho is one of the most famous musical composers and has composed some of the
most well loved musicals of the last fifty years. Webber created incredible and emotional music for
Phantom of the Operathat set this musical apart from all the others. One thing that makes
Phantom of the Opera a unique musical experience is because it does not try to fit into one genre
and does not try to be too modern. This makes it unique because most of today s musicals are
trying to be more pop culture. The Phantom of the Opera manages to stay in the time period where
the story takes place but weaves in modern comedy and rock music. The most obvious way that this
is done is with the main theme of the musical. The pounding of the organ is one of the most well
known themes in musical theatreand it is reminiscent of rock music with the guitar but it is
different than rock because it is an organ not a guitar. There are many other contrasts between old
and new in the musical. One contrast is of musical and opera. The

Effects of Capitalism on Production Conservation of Nature

ARCH 596: Seminar on the Built Environment II: Landscape and Society
Dr. Ross E Adams
Abstract
The report will be primarily focused on the influence of capitalism on production and conservation
of nature. From being individuals dependent upon nature humans have become forces which
manipulate and effect nature. Besides this, the very fact that we use the term resource for nature
represents that humans have developed the habit of considering nature as a commodity. The idea of
commodification of nature has been explored in this report through the texts of Karl Marx, Neil
Smith and Noel Castree. This report also tries to investigate ... Show more content on

The relation between efforts to isolate and conserve nature and fear of uncertain future was also
a topic worth exploring through the above mentioned projects. In discussing this relation the
analogy between the current scenario and the effort from the 70 s onward to conserve fauna
through zoos, due an impending fear of loss of species has been examined. Another crucial aspect
of these projects was the displacement of land and tress from their natural habitat to the artificial
biomes. Movement of large amount of fertile soil and trees from their native place to an alien
place and calling it a conservational phenomenon seems paradoxical and requires further analysis.
The idea of colonizing space as a future prospect has been explored particularly with reference to
Biosphere 2 a comparison between the present responses to the crisis and relevant responses which
have been proposed but not implemented has also been discussed in this report. To sum up this
report analyzes the political and capitalistic motives behind the conservational projects which are
resulting from climate crisis. Climate change has started affecting us by and large. The frequency
of natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods etc. is increasing day by day. We have arrived at a
moment of grave danger as confirmed by many environmental scientists. Experts on climate crisis

The Consequences Of Mississippi Burning
Mississippi Burning is based on a real historical event that takes place in the middle the civil rights
movement in Mississippi in 1964. The story sheds light on the investigation of the disappearance of

town where the Ku Klux Klanenjoys a great deal of support and discrimination runs deep, the FBI
agent had to resort to unconventional methods to crack the mystery behind the disappearance of
the three men. This film shows the deep division that persisted in the south and it gives us a
glimpse of the horror that Black people had to endure. This film illustrates the struggle of black
people in their quest to equality and justice. It gives us, the students a greater sense of this dark
history of our country and serves as a reminder that we must always be cognizant of the bleak
consequences of hate and discrimination.

Social Media And Social Mess Essay
Social Media or Social Mess According to Pew Research, 95% of teens are Internet users with an
astonishing 85% using Social Media. Social Media is defined as websites and applications that
enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. Social media is a
huge platform for cultural revolutions and controversies. There is a large amount of potential
issues with this revolution including the possibility of cyberbullying as well as the depression
that can be developed by only seeing the best part of everyone s daily life. This creates a false
image that everyone has a perfect life that users believe is impossible to attain. They, in turn,
view their life as dull or not as exciting as others simply because they cannot go on their summer
break to swim with dolphins or skydive, because they are not committing to a college on a full
ride for Football, because they don t have that seemingly perfect relationship with their parents
or siblings. On the other side of the spectrum, Social Media can be used for many great causes
such as activism, it can be used to stay in touch with old friends, and it can be used to encourage
others or bring to light issues that no one would have heard about it they were not Facebook
friends with Joe Schmo. Social Media is a trade off that western culture, and increasingly the
world, must learn to deal with or restrict. Social Media is dangerous to dictators, it is helpful to

Flight Breakup During Test Flight Scaled Composites
In Flight Breakup During Test Flight Scaled Composites SpaceShipTwo N339SS Near Koehn Dry
Lake, California October 31, 2014
On October 31, 2014 at 1007:32 Pacific Daylight Time Scaled Composites SpaceShipTwo reusable
suborbital rocket N339SS broke up into multiple pieces during a test flight over the Mojave
Dessert. The pilot Peter Siebold managed to survive however the co pilot Michael Alsbury died.
The primary reason for this test flight included conducting a 38 second burn to test the new
hybrid motor which used a nylon fuel grain and nitrous oxide to generate thrust, and a feathered
reentry that was to be at a speed of Mach 1.2 (NTSB) The mission for SpaceShipTwo consisted of

This callout was to alert the pilot of a transonic bobble would occur as the vehicle accelerated
through the transonic region and became supersonic. The next step was to unlock the feather by
moving the feather lock handle from the locked to unlocked position when SpaceShipTwo reached
a speed of Mach 1.4. (NTSB) The copilot did not heed the instructions of the pilot to unlock the
feather. The cockpit image recorder showed that 0.5 seconds after making the Mach 0.8 callout the
copilot started to unlock the feather at approximately Mach 0.82. Because of this premature
movement of the feather locking system, the large lifting force (keeping the feather extended)
generated by the tail, overpowered the resistance capability of the feather actuators (keeping the
feather retracted), essentially folding the fuselage over the tailboom. The pilot, age 43 held a flight
instructor certificate, commercial pilot certificate, with ratings for airplane single engine and
multiengine land, instrument airplane, and glider. He held FAA authorization to operate the
SpaceShipOne, SpaceShipTwo, Proteus and White Knight Two experimental aircraft as the pilot in
command. The pilot held a second class medical certificate with no limitations. The pilot was hired
by Scaled Composites in December 1996 as a design engineer. (NTSB) He had been a test pilot for

Online Education Essay
Online Education
Education is an important part of people s lives; it will either make them or break them in the
future depending on the careers they choose. Education is greatly diverse today in comparison to
the 1950s because of advancements in teaching and other great inventions that provide easier
techniques of teaching. One major issue that has been raised is distant learning courses and online
education. Distant learning could be any format from VHS videos, DVDs, or internet courses
online. Online education has been legal since 1993 and is a new way of teaching students of all ages.

Discussion on issues is done in chat rooms and forums where everybody writes their views on the
issue. This is an advantage for foreigners who can not speak proper English correctly. Live video
and sound can also be done with special equipment for a real time conversation with instructors and
peers.
Other features on the online courses are the learning aides that can be used while taking the course.
Certain programs can be made such as flash cards and games which can increase the learning
experience of the student. These learning aides can be done on the student s time and does not
require the teacher to be there.
Time for a face to face class is very difficult if a person works 40 hours a week but an online course
can put an ease on the time restriction because the person does the work at their own pace and
time. It is also easier to sign up for an online class than a class at a college. Message boards are in
use if the students need to leave a question or a comment about the subject their on. They also save

Speech About Light
And God said, let there be light, and there was light...
To our Speech Professor, Miss Catherine Cadiz, fellow classmates, ladies and gentlemen, good
morning!
When God created the world, He only said these simple words Let there be light and light came
just as it is, in a blink of an eye. The sun was formed for daytime, the moon and stars for nighttime
there and then.
However, as simple as how God made the natural lights we have, that s also how difficult for people
to make innovative lights to cope with global demands. It took years for people to discover the use
of fire for lighting at night, years to discover electricity from hydro and geothermal sources, years
to discover the use of solar power to generate electricity, and even more years to discover
alternative sources of light.
Recently, a breakthrough in lighting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is made after the Science of battery making, but instead of using toxic substances, the inventor
made us of non toxic electrolytes and saline solution. All you have to do is mix one tablespoon
of salt to a glass of water, and SALt lamp can already be used for six hours! If you live along the
shorelines, no need to use a mixture of salt and water. Just use saltwater directly from the sea, and
you can use the SALt lamp for eight hours straight. With proper maintenance, an anode can last for
up to six months to more than a year.
There is also another use of SALt lamp. By using your USB cable, you can charge your
Smartphone right to the SALt lamp itself. It will not give off harmful gasses and will only leave
minimal carbon footprints. It is indeed environmental friendly!
The invention of this lamp captured the eye of then President of the United States of America,

How Did Gregor Mendel Cause Death
Gregor Johann Mendel
Born: 22 July 1822
Birthplace: Hynice, Czechia
Location of death Brno, Czechia
Cause of death: unspecified
Remains: Buried, Central Cemetery, Brno, Czechia Gregor s parents were farmers. His father s
name was Anton and his father was known as Rosine. He had two sister their names were
Veronica and Theresia. He was a brilliant student in grade school but it became harder to get
money to put him in school. When he couldn t get in a university he gave up and became a
Central European monk. Gregor while he was a monk tried to become a high school teacher and
failed the exam twice but was still allowed to work part time as a teacher. While tending the the
gardens in the monastery as a monk Mendel became very interested in the pea plants. Mendel
picked pea plants because they grew easily, reproduced in large numbered, and their reproduction
can be manipulated. They also had both female and male reproduction organs. He then began doing
scientific experiments on the pea plants. Even though Mendel was doing experiments with pea

Pros And Cons Of Brian Mulroney
Martin Brian Mulroney was the 18th Prime Minister of Canada and indeed a leader full of great
qualities (Sawatsky 7). Born in a small town in Quebec, Mulroney was a bilingual Anglophone who
harbored a tremendous political ambition (22). He belonged to the Progressive Conservative party
and came to power in 1984 (Parker 22). Mulroney significantly affected the Canadian history
through his socio political, environmental and economic reforms. He had a powerful, tremendous
and symbolic impact on Canadian history, socio politically by passing the Indian Act, the
Multiculturalism Act and introducing Meech Lake and Charlottetown Accords., environmentally

Program... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, the introduction of Goods and Services Tax by Mulroney built the foundation for
eliminating federal deficit, which occurs when the government spends more money than it makes
(Parker 22). Deficit increased the selling off of the capital assets in Canada to finance the purchases
of slowly diminishing goods and services, which undermined future production and raised
unemployment rates and inflation (Swatsky 309). Not only did the introduction of GST
overcame deficit by a significant amount, it also proved to be an important source of generating
revenues, improving the competitive position of Canada s economy in the world and acting as
an efficient way for managing the country (Good and Bad sides of GST). This could be justified
though the fact that when Mulroney introduced the GST, the revenues grew by one third, and
GDP by 1.2%. Although it was not enough to stop deficit at first, it did slow it down and
eventually hauled it (Coyne). But at the same time, his attempt to stop deficit limited his ability
to deliver the promises he made in terms of services and infrastructures.(Info base Learning).
Secondly, the signing off the Free Trade Agreement with United States and North American
Free Trade Agreement with the addition of Mexico came as a great economic contribution to
Canadian history as it marked the creation of the largest free trade region in the world. With the
elimination of tariff and non tariff barriers, NAFTA opened gates for Canada towards economic
prosperity and growth. With no imposed taxes, NAFTA provided Canada access to the wider
range of Mexican and U.S markets, expanding Canada s productivity and allowed Canada to
attract more U.S investors, firms and companies to Canada, to invest in the wide variety of natural
resources, and. This also led to a huge burst in job opportunities in the trade and service sectors

Analysis Of Roe V. Wade
In modern days when the term abortion came up a lot of people felt quite uncomfortable because it
usually is a lightly touched subject that nobody speaks about. It is known as a forbidden word.
Abortion really means any variety of surgical methods for terminating a pregnancy, especially
during the first six months of the pregnancy. The background to the historical right of abortion
through Roe v. Wade can be examined by using all themes of geography, which is location and

The historical right of abortion can be examined through the geographic themes of location and

Rhyme Schemes In Poetry
In many occasions, people may find poems without rhyme schemes uninteresting, bland, or
maybe not even poems at all. Though rhyme is not necessarily needed to make a poem good, it
is a technique used by poets to create emphasis on certain aspects of specific themes they are
trying to express. Rhyme schemes may contribute to the mood or tone of a piece, or even be
used to create a certain rhythm or flow. Poems like Sound and Sense by Alexander Pope, That
Time of Year by the famous William Shakespeare, and We Wear the Mask by Paul Laurence
Dunbar, are perfectly good examples of professionals taking their writing to the next level with a
touch of rhyme. Each of these authors have contributed greatly to the art of writing, and though
their situations, or motives, for writing the poems may be different, their effective use of the
different schemes help the authors create a certain feeling to each verse in their work. The rhyme
schemes in Sound and Sense, That Time of Year, and We Wear the Mask contribute to the author s
feelings on vital situations they face through their daily life.
In Sound and Sense, Alexander Pope shows off his abilities as a poet through his use of rhyme in
an iambic pentameter, to reveal how talented he is. It is true that Pope can be considered the
creator of heroic couplets and his creation is truly one of the best contributions to the poetry
community. A heroic couplet is when two lines are rhymed in a iambic pentameter scheme and Pope

Organizational Structure And Culture At Lone Tree...
Organizational Structure and Culture
Organizational structure is the hierarchy of authority and description of the arrangement of
employees within an organization (Sullivan Decker, 2009). Organizational culture is the pattern of
learned values, attitudes, and behaviors in the organization s members (Schein, 1990).
Organizational environment describes the conditions of the work setting. Characteristics of a
positive organizational environment include communication, collaboration, effective decision
making, staffing, recognition of employees, and leadership (Sullivan Decker, 2009). This paper will
describe interrelated aspects of the organizational structure, culture, and environment at Lone Tree
Convalescent Hospital and discuss how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The physicians have a separate line of authority that runs from the medical director to the other
physicians.
Weaknesses of a functional/parallel structure include the possibility of poor coordination across
departments and the possibility that decision making responsibilities may overload top leaders
(Sullivan Decker, 2009). Although the official organizational structure of Lone Tree Convalescent
Hospital delineates a clear chain of command, the organizational culture and environment supports a
less structured approach to day to day operations. Diagonal communication, teamwork across
departments, and decentralized decision making are embraced in the organizational culture, helping
to overcome the weaknesses of functional/parallel structure. Diagonal communication occurs
between individuals at different levels of the organizational hierarchy (Sullivan Decker, 2009).
Diagonal communications are frequent at Lone Tree Convalescent Hospital. As an example, a staff
nurse may discuss an issue with the facility manager before discussing it with the director of nurses.
Although this does not follow the official chain of command, these communications are considered
acceptable and even encouraged. In a larger organization, this type of communication could result in
conflict or difficulties resolving issues. Lone Tree, however, is a small organization and top leaders
in the organization communicate frequently and extensively, minimizing potential negative
outcomes.

VW Emission Scandal
In today s society we often come to many debates on several issues that go on in our world today.
Recently there was an ethical debate on whether or not it is ethical to release vehicles with
software that defeats emission testing by the EPA. Volkswagen is being accused of using illegal
software designed to hide emissions during testing by installing cars with a software. The EPA
accused Volkswagenof using the device in nearly over a half a million cars (Davenport). The cars
are reportedly to have been installed with a software that had the ability to turn off the emissions
controls when driving normally and turns them on when the vehicle is undergoing an emissions
test. With all of these assumptions of Volkswagen cheating the emissions testing does that question
their ethical corporate responsibility?

Why Is Street Racing Dangerous

back ground knowledge on the subject. Street racing can kill you. Four people died in her

time. This shows that street racing is dangerous if you aren t smart about it. A personal account

danger but they still race because it is fun. The same person after getting a wreck went on to say,

The Little Grand Canyon Research Paper
Oh my! What a beautiful view! This has to be the most alluring view I have ever seen in my
entire life. Providence Canyon, or as you may know it by the little grand canyon should be
considered as a national park instead of a state park. You may know what I mean if you have
visited it yourself you may even see that it has an exquisite view from the very top of the canyon.
Taking this trip was the best idea I have ever came up with. The Providence Canyon was formed
every time it would rain the soil was very soft and sandy so the plowed soil would be washed
away by erosion. When small ditches were etched into the farmland, and every rainstorm the
ditches kept expanding wider and deeper. It was like a natural cause and effect pattern as the
author stated in the second paragraph. It kind of went into a sequence first the rain would fall;
then another inch or two of soil would flow downstream leaving behind a trench. There was
absolutely no way you could stop it from forming. According to the text by the 1850s many of the
cotton fields in Stewart County had three to five foot gullies carved across them. ... Show more

Mayor Of Casterbridge By Michael Farfrae Analysis
The Resentment and Downfall of an Antihero In the mid 1800s, Michael Henchard and his wife
Susan, who carried their daughter Elizabeth Jane, were walking down a path seeking a place to

Henchard (who possessed a quick temper and a drinking problem at the time) decided to slide the
cook extra money to spike his meal. After this point, the situation rapidly got out of hand and
Michael Henchard sold his wife and child to a sailor for five guineas. This was the shocking first
scene in Thomas Hardys novel, Mayor of Casterbridge, published in 1886. To proceed with the
story and jump ahead almost two decades, Susan and Elizabeth Jane sought out Henchard (since
the sailor was lost at sea and believed to never return) in the town of Casterbridge, where they
discovered that he was Mayor. From this point on, the husband and wife reconciled their
differences, married again, and started new beginnings together. However, things took a turn for
the worse ever since the two women materialized back into Henchard s life. Throughout the novel,
Donald Farfrae, a man Michael requested assistance from, availed in every aspect over Mr.
Henchard, causing a expeditious downfall to the latter. Their differences included love, success,
popularity, fortune, and authority. However, Farfrae was not the cause of Michael s misfortune, in

When people make out their wills, they typically name a trusted person as their executor, who
then has a legal responsibility to distribute their property according to the wishes of the
deceased, and make sure all debts and creditors are paid. But in addition to lots of paperwork and
deadlines, the job often comes with a minefield of family issues. And worst of all, executors can

while another might want it sold quickly. The executor must decide the listing price and the

property before the sale. Before authorizing any improvement, the executor needs to consider
whether he or she is authorized to spend estate assets to make such improvements. Executors
also should be careful not to hold on to a house for too long. Insurance companies don t like to

The Pros And Cons Of Guerilla Warfare
Insurgency must not be jumbled up with terrorism as they overlap somehow but are totally
different entities. These two such concepts probably lead to more confusion than any other thing.
Guerilla warfare and insurgencies are often inferred to be similar with terrorism. One rationale for
this is that insurgencies has similar targets as that of terrorism. However, if we examine specific
differences, a prime difference is that an insurgency is a movement against the authorities with
specific aim. Its motive is to challenge the government regarding control of certain parts of its
territory and for that they require some support of the population, on the contrary, a terror group

It is a creative force, not an antagonistic one in some scenarios. If their approach is to improve the
spaces that belong to all of us, then that is the positive aspect of such movements. Taking a very
small example like installing temporary seating at bus stops, for people who are fed up of waiting
for bus, after their jobs and stay standing. When the authorities take no step to accommodate them,
that s when the guerillas come in. I won t naively support such acts as profound, or say that they
have the strength to solve the deep rooted problems in our cities, but the spirit of the guerilla
urbanists to fix small issues in appreciable ways should be appreciated. These are the acts that lay
the foundation of a reformatory movement, for the betterment of locales. They change the direction
of our vision towards the city. Guerrilla urbanists are not given the reform projects by the
government like turning roads into sidewalks and setting up shop in vacant buildings, which is
illegal in most cities. Gradually though, some governments have approved these projects after
witnessing the positive public reception they gain. Others have gone further and initiated such
projects themselves, one of the most famous examples is pedestrianizing Times Square in New York

In the novella Heart of Darkness, the seemingly minor characters of the mistress and the intendant

The Importance Of Referent Power In Music
The power to influence people to do something depends on the knowledge I have concerning the
thing and this type of power is called expert power (Hughes, Ginnett, Curphy, 2015). For example,
as the choir director of my church back in Ghana, I have a lot of influence on the choir members as
individuals and the choiras a whole because of my knowledge and experience in music. The
knowledge and experience I have in music wields me more power even over anyone I meet for the
first time doing music. As a result, I influence the songs we sing at church, the commitment level of
the members and decision making processes towards the choir s development.
Referent power is the power that people have over followers because of the relationship between
them (Hughes, et al, 2015). I have a low level in referent power at the beginning of my
relationship with people around me and even at work because of my personality. I am an introvert
and it takes a long time for me to get attached to people around me. For example, when I was
working with one of the universities back in Ghana as the administrative assistant to the liaison
officer of the university, it took about three months for me to get closer to the secretary.
Based on the theory of referent power, the secretary has traits of a referent power. This is because of
the strong relationship that developed between us after I got acquainted to her. Through that, she
influenced my attitude towards handling student complaints about

storing all of Sharon s music. To use internet in her beauticians, I would recommend Sharon
would be best to look at some sort of USB dongle. However I would recommend she downloaded
all of her music at home so as she didn t eat into her data allowance.
As for e mail Sharon could create two separate e mail accounts with windows hotmail as she could
personalise her e mail addresses to her liking.
Conclusion
The laptop I am going to recommend is the ACER Aspire S3 391 Ultrabook.Overall it is the best
laptop for Sharon s business and personal needs. It provides her with the software she needs to
create her own advertisements, invoices, letters and to keep track of her accounts for her
business. It also provides her with the ability to surf the internet and go shopping online as well
as download music and due to the Acer having a DVD re writer allow her to create her own CDs
through windows media player. The Acer also is the lightest laptop in this comparison and therefore
will be easy for Sharon to transport between her beauticians and home.

Antifederalists Vs Federalists
When attempting to ratify the Constitution the delegates were split into two different parties which
were the Federalists and Antifederalists. The main difference between the two parties as stated in
We the People was that the Federalists wanted a strong national government while the
Antifederalists wanted a strong state government and were actually against the Constitution that
was proposed at the Constitutional Convention in 1787 (Ginsberg, 56). There were three main areas
of contention between the groups which was representation, tyranny or unjust rule by those in
power, and how they should limit government power. Representation was a major focus in the
ratification process. The Antifederalists wanted the representation to be a true representation of the
people, and they stated that it could only be achieved through small republics such as the states.
The Federalists however, thought that the representation should be the populous choosing a

Both sides were frightened by the thought of a tyrannical government but they had different views
on how to deal with it. Tyranny is an oppressive government that employs cruel and unjust use of
power and authority (Ginsberg, 59). The Antifederalists thought that overtime the individuals in
authority would gain power to the extent that they would rule with tyranny over the general
populous. However, the Federalists were more scared of the majority tyranny that being if the

John Foley, an English teacher in Washington, challenged the use of The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn, Of Mice and Men, and To Kill a Mockingbird in high school English classes due
to the racial slurs and the way African Americans are portrayed in the novels. Foley suggested

his students, who were mostly from minorities, felt uncomfortable and were uninterested in the
novels since the racial slurs used were directly aimed at the race they identified with. He stated

complexes (Dale et. al., 1994). These functions are achieved mainly via complement s ability to
attract leukocytes (Lessof, 1993). The interaction of antibody with specific antigen results in the
formation of the antibody antigen complex. This complex has several functions: for instance, to
immobilise an antigen therefore preventing attack upon host cells, to block active toxic regions of
particular bacteria, and to allow phagocytic attack. Memory cells Once the antigens have been
destroyed the plasma cells disappear leaving a few as memory cells which enable a swift response
upon second exposure to the antigen (Trounce, 1997). Memory cells are the basis of active
immunisation against bacteria (Downie et. al., 1994). Humoral immunity is most efficient against
antigens dissolved in body fluids, that is extracellular pathogens, primarily bacteria whereas cell
mediated immunity is most effective against intracellular pathogens such as viruses (Tortora amp;
Grabowski, 1996). CELL MEDIATED

Morrie Aphorism Quotes
Morrie s Most Meaningful Quotes Have you ever read something that meant a lot to you? Has it
ever made you stop and think about how it relates to you and your life? Morrie s aphorisms
really mean something to me. His words speak very loudly. They help me realize what is going
on in my life. One of Morrie s aphorisms that means the most to me is, accept the past as the
past, without denying it or discarding it. One reason this quote speaks loudly to me is because I
tend to dwell on the things that I have already done in the past. This quote let s me know that I
need to keep what I have done in the past in mind, learn from it, and do it differently the next
time. Another reason that this is an important quote to me is because the past can bring me down
sometimes. Reading this quote reminds me that you learn from your mistakes. Instead of thinking
about all of the bad things that happened, this quote let s me know to think about the good things
that can happen because I have already made the mistake once and I know not to do it again. The
last reason I really like this quote is because it is an overall great quote to live... Show more content

If you can t forgive people along with yourself, then you will never be pleased with life. I have
did some things that were not okay, however I have learned to forgive myself for those actions.
There have been several people to make me very mad, upset, and sad. I do not forget the things
they have done, but I have forgiven them because it is not right to be mad at someone for your
whole life. The last reason this quote is one of my favorites is because it is something I would like
to motivate my kids to live by in the future. I do not want my kids to hate someone over one
thing they have said or done. All in all, I believe this quote is a good lesson to know for

The civilizing effect of two and half centuries of peace and modest economic growth during the

Asian American Population And Asian Americans
The Asian American population is a major facet of American life; beginning their lives as
immigrants they have worked their way to become integral members of society. In 2010 there were
14.7 million Asian Americans living in the United States and in 2011 that number increased to 18.2
million.1 Culturally, Asian Americanpeople have traditions and beliefs that contradict those of the
Western world.2 Culture molds people s values, attitudes, and beliefs; influences their perceptions
of self and others; and determines the way they experience their environment. 10 As a result there
are certain barriers that exist when communicating with Asian Americans due to their cultural
background. Additionally, Asians living in America suffer from the Model Minority Myth, which
typecasts these people as being financially and educationally well off in comparison to other ethnic
groups.2 Due to this Asian Americans aren t considered more at risk for many health risks
compared to other ethnicities; cultural and physical barriers act as a hindrance to Asian Americans
receiving healthcare services, primarily mental health related services.
According to Spencer et al. Asian Americans often stigmatize mental health. As a result many
individuals forgo taking advantage of mental health services because it promotes cultural feelings of
shame or embarrassment.2 The article analyzed the connection between discrimination and the
usage of mental health services on a national sample of Asian Americans.

Why Do You Want To Be Single Essay
Most people would say that they would loved to get married one day and have a family. With me
in this season of life and right now I feel that I am content with singleness. Some people may ask
why have I not found somebody yet. I think I could feel the same way.I feel that God has a
purpose and the reason why I am single in this season of my life. There are many things that God
says about singleness and what others say about singleness and what I think when I am single.
There is a feeling and longing of lovethat you wantfrom someone. I could say that with God you
can find that love and the hope He gives you. There are many expectations , limitations, and

There are many things that you can do to serve God in your time. The first thing I can do is to
serve at my local church and do things to get involved and help where it is needed. Serving is
something I like to do. I can served the Lord in anyway that He wants me to. We want to work for
the Lord because with what we can do for his kingdom. We can see His heart for people and what
he wants us to do. We can see with His eyes. Serving the Lord is worth it because it shows others
the love and you can make a difference by doing it.
Another expectation of singleness is being wed in the Lord. I think this means that I will live
my life with the lord and love him with an everlasting love as He did when He sacrifice his son
and gave us life to live. We are the bride of Christ. I am His daughter who loves me
unconditonally. I think we can see the fulfillment that comes from know Christ and see his

Symbols In The Crucible
Puritan societies in the late 17th century were very strict and when someone stepped out of line,
they were severely punished. The first thing that often comes to mind when one thinks of a
crucible is the little ceramic pot that is heated to high temperatures. However, the word crucible
has three different meanings. The first is the familiar ceramic or metal container in which metals
or other substances may be melted or subjected to very high temperatures. The other two are less
familiar a crucible is also a place or occasion of severe test or trial as well as a place or situation
in which different elements interact to produce something new. In Arthur Miller s The Crucible, all
three of those definitions are explored through plot. While readers follow the Salem Witch trials, it
is understood how severe tests are trials are occurring, and different... Show more content on

The characters are shown in a crucible that is on a fire with Satan in it. Satan is shown in the
fire because the girls causing the witch trials are believed to be possessed by Satan. He is
thought to take the form of woman now in jail and tried to win [the girl s] soul[s] away. (99) He
is causing the girls to go into fits and act strangely. Inside of the crucible represents a place of
severe test where the characters and new events are mixing to produce a new society. Puritan
societies were very strict and something this big had never happened before, and people are
being tested. People are lying and interacting in new ways. Miller explains that when the
elements of people s moral rights and malevolence are mixed just right society becomes a
congerie of plots and counterplots (34), which is exactly what happened in Salem. It is shown in
the crucible a disorderly society of people being falsely accused and hanged. Overall, inside the
crucible is a society that is being severely tested and the new elements are being mixed by the

What Effect Does Stress Have on Health? Many individuals face the problem of stress today.
Every individual will eventually experience stress at some point in his or her life. Stress is defined
as an internal state which can be caused by physical demands of the body or by environmental and
social situations, which are evaluated as potentially harmful, uncontrollable, or exceeding our
resources for coping. An environmental situation could be a natural disaster such as a hurricane and
a social circumstance could be work. This means that stress is typically inevitable; humans
encounter multiple kinds of stressors. Each of these stressors produces different outcomes. Stress

When the acne worsens, the person will then have to go find a solution for their acne. Teenagers are
sufferers to stress related acne breakouts, as hormones are very unbalanced and constantly
changing. Adults however, will find that their acne formed from high levels of stress. Both age
groups suffer regardless due to cells that produce sebum during stress. Situations that put individuals
into emotional distressing situations will cause an outburst of acne. These cells will continue to
produce sebum uncontrollably causing worsened symptoms for the victim.
When stress occurs, this creates a mental disturbance in the mind. This mental disturbance or
disruption creates insomnia, which is the inability to sleep. Stress has the ability to create
hyperarousal upsets the balance between sleep and wakefulness. The increase in stress will feed
this unbalance creating insomnia. Thirty seven percent of adults report fatigue or feeling tired
because of stress and More than one third of teens (35 percent) report that stress caused them to lie
awake at night (American Psychological Association 5,2). Stress affects insomnia by making it
even harder to fall asleep and to stay asleep.
Stress frequently affect your life physically as well as mentally. The psychological toll on one
could result in anxiety. As the human body undergoes these changes, anxiety and stress go hand in
hand, as one reflects against the other in an unfortunate

Marie Maynard Daly
Throughout Gender and Race in the Physical Sciences, I have been struck by how rarely in
STEM we shed a light on the women of color that already exist and thrive in the sciences. Often,
when we discuss diversity in the sciences, we only discuss it in the frame of a problem. More
specifically, we tend to focus on the problem of there not being enough of these women in the
field. As a result of the lack of attention paid to pioneering women in STEM, many young people
of all backgrounds are inclined to believe that there are no women of color doing great things in
the field that there are no role models. With this paper, and an on campus event to be held in the
spring, I hope to challenge people s assumptions about what a scientist looks like, and inspire
people through a discussion of innovative women of color.

If Tupac is still alive then people will try to find him because he was claimed to have been dead.
September 13, 1996 was the day Tupac Shakur was said to be dead. Many people claim he is still
alive and have spotted him in another country, known as Cuba. There has been a lot of people
investigating and looking for his whereabouts. The night of the shooting Tupac was riding with
another star named Suge Knight. Keep in mind, Tupac wears a bulletproof vest everywhere he goes
after being shot two years prior to the shooting that killed him. The night of is shooting he was not

In all 3 synoptic gospels, Simon was the one to carry Jesus cross to his crucifixion. Now, Suge
Knight was the producer of Tupac s final album, Makaveli the Don Killuminati: The 7 Day

directly paralleled to Suge and Tupac s relationship where Suge is Simon and Tupac is Jesus.
This says that Tupac is going to die (fake his death) and come back. In 1993, Tupac received a
letter from the parents of a dying boy named Joshua. He flew out to Maryland to see him and
take him to a basketball game. Shortly after, Tupac renamed his publishing company from
Ghetto Gospel Music to Joshua s Dream. This was more than a fan tribute. In the Bible, Joshua
dreamed about the resurrection of Jesus. Tupac was comparing himself to Jesus in the aspect
that he s gonna die and come back to life (fake his death and come back.) The Don Killuminati:
The 7 Day Theory was released in November of 1996. However, this album was not released under
Tupac, it was released under his new stage name: Makaveli. If you rearrange the letters in
Makaveli, you can turn it into AM ALIVE K. It is believed that it stands for Kasinova Tha Don.
This is a rap artist whose lyrics and voice sound strikingly similar. Just like Makaveli was a
reference for Machiavelli, Kasinova is reference for Giacomo Casanova. Giacomo was a writer in
Venice in the 1700 s. After he was exiled from the republic

Five forces analysis: 1) The bargaining power of suppliers * As some producers such as Ice Fili

have a problem in finding new suppliers. * As the technology of Russia was lagged behind Western

advantage and are more flexible To meet the market demand in regional areas, become more

understanding of the local market , and develop its own storage facilities, distribution and
marketing network.. In addition, Nestle develop product that fit Russian taste and traditions. 3)

Why Are The Inca Buildings Important
Inca s Buildings, and Tools
The Inca s tools and buildings were mainly made of stone, and a little bit of wood in their
buildings, but what is fascinating about them is how they built their houses. Stone tools were
important to the Incas life because wooden tools couldn t break stones, and their structures were
made of stone (limestone or/and granite). Since the stone buildings were important( Machu Picchu
or the city on the Andes mountains were also important), to the Incas way of life so it would be the

Growing crops in flat and fertile areas and hunting were important to the Inca, because without food,
they can t survive. They would keep their soil fertile, they used llama dung, which was one of the
animals they worshiped, along with Alpacas. And for hunting, they used spears to kill animals and
nets to catch them. So the farms and hunting will be shown around the center and the left and right
corners (crops on the left where the Inca village is, and the hunters will go somewhere around the

together with one another. They will be shown to the center front of the exhibit. Making clothes
were another job that some Inca had to do, because without clothes, they can get cold during winter.
The Incas made clothes using llama wool and animal skins. This could be shown somewhere around
the village, showing someone making/hanging clothes. Teaching was another important job.
Teaching helped children learn to talk, write, and learn to do many other things. Without it, children
would grow up not knowing how to communicate while working, writing, and not even knowing
how to do jobs. Teaching will be shown around where the mountains are, which will be

  • 2. Analysis Of Opposites In Phaedo Socrates In the Phaedo Socrates argues that life is shaped by opposite, things are formed from the changing of one opposite to another. Socrates believes life plays out in cycles. Such, as in literary cycles where an end comes from a beginning so too follows the cycle of life and death, from where a death comes another life. From this theory of cycling opposites comes the argument that things can only exist from their opposites. Socrates beings the argument with his desire to show that in all opposites there is of necessity a similar alternation. by this he means that something cannot become greater without before being less. Within the process of changing from one opposite to another there are intermediates which are the agents of change. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this question we see the opposites theory presented in a more spiritual light. He explains that death comes from the prior existence of life, and life comes from the presence of soul. So, there for soul is on a continuous cycle of life and death. Since his argument states that everything in life comes from opposites why should the cycle of life and death be presented any differently? While the two opposites are clear one of the intermediates is much more abstract. One of the two process or generations is visible. For surly the act of dying is visible. The presence of death can be seen while the creation of life is less obvious. Socrates then outlines his belief of soul leaving the body after death. During which time the soul returns to a place of an existence before man. Socrates introduces this concept of a world beyond human exist where souls reside intermediately between the death of the vessel and the eventual birth of the dead into the world of the living. This theory aims to demonstrate how life works but constantly shifting between two opposites. If these rules are meant to apply to sleeping, waking and all the other accidents; why should they not apply to living and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The global economic downturn has impacted jobs outsourcing in the BPO industry as it has helped to be one of the largest job creators in India. Due to this, many companies had to increase their operations output and therefore employ more and more people to keep up with the expanding trend. One of the major impacts, being growth and maturity, had an effect on the BPO industry and contributed to the outsourcing companies and continued growth of the industry. It is important to continue to attract employees but also maintain existing ones, especially with job outsourcing, as it is cheap labour you still need to ensure employees are looked after properly. Personal choice and decision making is another trend that will always be required as that is what keeps companies competitive. With regards to the BPO industry in India and the Philippines, this applies as the Philippines are becoming more competitive. Companies may start choosing the Philippines over India as they have better language skills and less additional costs. The change in demographics and the rise of the knowledge economy is another trend as companies want to outsource to countries where the workers are more skilled and have a better grasp of the English language, this again relates to Philippines over India. 3. What are the effects of the Indian government policies on the Indian BPO industry and on MNC decisions regarding locations for outsourcing jobs? Locations for outsourcing jobs is very important as companies need to decide what is going to be the cheapest option but also the most beneficial in terms of maintaining their remaining clients and customers, there tends to be quite high volume complaints when it comes to outsourcing jobs, problems can arise often due to language barriers, so choosing the best location ... Posner is not only an author, but he also serves as a judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit ( University of Chicago, 2015). From 1993 to 2000, he was the chief judge for that exact court ( University of Chicago, 2015). He is currently a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Chicago. Richard Posner has written a numerous amount of books aside from the book I ve read, including The Economics of Justice (1981), Overcoming Law (1995), and Law, Pragmatism, and Democracy (2003) ( University of Chicago, 2015). We re The Land of the Free , we can t refrain from immigration if immigrants were a possibility as being a threat. Also, we can t control what other countries do inside their country, we can only control protect ours. Countering Terrorism was a great book that I would recommend to read if you want to read about a factual opinion about the intelligence system and the efforts they ve made or tried to make in order to protect our country from the threat of terrorism. It shows some that the result of a bad event happening puts blame on the intelligence system as well as the intelligence system causing themselves to look bad by the choices that they make. ... • 12. Phantom of the Opera Review Phantom of the Opera is the longest running musical to date and has become one of the most beloved and well known musicals on Broadway. The musical was inspired and loosely based on the characters and the story of the book Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux. This CD is the original London cast which means that this recording is with the first cast that ever preformed the musical with the actors that created the parts. The musical was written and composed by Andrew Lloyd Webberwho is one of the most famous musical composers and has composed some of the most well loved musicals of the last fifty years. Webber created incredible and emotional music for Phantom of the Operathat set this musical apart from all the others. One thing that makes Phantom of the Opera a unique musical experience is because it does not try to fit into one genre and does not try to be too modern. This makes it unique because most of today s musicals are trying to be more pop culture. The Phantom of the Opera manages to stay in the time period where the story takes place but weaves in modern comedy and rock music. The most obvious way that this is done is with the main theme of the musical. The pounding of the organ is one of the most well known themes in musical theatreand it is reminiscent of rock music with the guitar but it is different than rock because it is an organ not a guitar. There are many other contrasts between old and new in the musical. One contrast is of musical and opera. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Effects of Capitalism on Production Conservation of Nature Sankalp Gupta 7th May 2015 ARCH 596: Seminar on the Built Environment II: Landscape and Society Dr. Ross E Adams Abstract The report will be primarily focused on the influence of capitalism on production and conservation of nature. From being individuals dependent upon nature humans have become forces which manipulate and effect nature. Besides this, the very fact that we use the term resource for nature represents that humans have developed the habit of considering nature as a commodity. The idea of commodification of nature has been explored in this report through the texts of Karl Marx, Neil Smith and Noel Castree. This report also tries to investigate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The relation between efforts to isolate and conserve nature and fear of uncertain future was also a topic worth exploring through the above mentioned projects. In discussing this relation the analogy between the current scenario and the effort from the 70 s onward to conserve fauna through zoos, due an impending fear of loss of species has been examined. Another crucial aspect of these projects was the displacement of land and tress from their natural habitat to the artificial biomes. Movement of large amount of fertile soil and trees from their native place to an alien place and calling it a conservational phenomenon seems paradoxical and requires further analysis. The idea of colonizing space as a future prospect has been explored particularly with reference to Biosphere 2 a comparison between the present responses to the crisis and relevant responses which have been proposed but not implemented has also been discussed in this report. To sum up this report analyzes the political and capitalistic motives behind the conservational projects which are resulting from climate crisis. Climate change has started affecting us by and large. • 16. Social Media And Social Mess Essay Social Media or Social Mess According to Pew Research, 95% of teens are Internet users with an astonishing 85% using Social Media. Social Media is defined as websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. Social media is a huge platform for cultural revolutions and controversies. There is a large amount of potential issues with this revolution including the possibility of cyberbullying as well as the depression that can be developed by only seeing the best part of everyone s daily life. This creates a false image that everyone has a perfect life that users believe is impossible to attain. They, in turn, view their life as dull or not as exciting as others simply because they cannot go on their summer break to swim with dolphins or skydive, because they are not committing to a college on a full ride for Football, because they don t have that seemingly perfect relationship with their parents or siblings. On the other side of the spectrum, Social Media can be used for many great causes such as activism, it can be used to stay in touch with old friends, and it can be used to encourage others or bring to light issues that no one would have heard about it they were not Facebook friends with Joe Schmo. The cockpit image recorder showed that 0.5 seconds after making the Mach 0.8 callout the copilot started to unlock the feather at approximately Mach 0.82. Because of this premature movement of the feather locking system, the large lifting force (keeping the feather extended) generated by the tail, overpowered the resistance capability of the feather actuators (keeping the feather retracted), essentially folding the fuselage over the tailboom. • 24. Rhyme Schemes In Poetry In many occasions, people may find poems without rhyme schemes uninteresting, bland, or maybe not even poems at all. Though rhyme is not necessarily needed to make a poem good, it is a technique used by poets to create emphasis on certain aspects of specific themes they are trying to express. Rhyme schemes may contribute to the mood or tone of a piece, or even be used to create a certain rhythm or flow. Poems like Sound and Sense by Alexander Pope, That Time of Year by the famous William Shakespeare, and We Wear the Mask by Paul Laurence Dunbar, are perfectly good examples of professionals taking their writing to the next level with a touch of rhyme. Each of these authors have contributed greatly to the art of writing, and though their situations, or motives, for writing the poems may be different, their effective use of the different schemes help the authors create a certain feeling to each verse in their work. The rhyme schemes in Sound and Sense, That Time of Year, and We Wear the Mask contribute to the author s feelings on vital situations they face through their daily life. In Sound and Sense, Alexander Pope shows off his abilities as a poet through his use of rhyme in an iambic pentameter, to reveal how talented he is. The main difference between the two parties as stated in We the People was that the Federalists wanted a strong national government while the Antifederalists wanted a strong state government and were actually against the Constitution that was proposed at the Constitutional Convention in 1787 (Ginsberg, 56). There were three main areas of contention between the groups which was representation, tyranny or unjust rule by those in power, and how they should limit government power. Representation was a major focus in the ratification process. The Antifederalists wanted the representation to be a true representation of the people, and they stated that it could only be achieved through small republics such as the states. The Federalists however, thought that the representation should be the populous choosing a candidate who possess skills and attributes greater than their own.... In the case of To Kill a Mockingbird, some teachers still believe it is relevant and teach it to their students. A former teacher at Ames High School in Iowa has stated that he continued to teach To Kill a Mockingbird for his 38 years of teaching because he felt that the book was still relevant through the way it portrayed the love, respect, and courage. He also believed it encouraged students to engage students deep into the story as well as use their imagination (Rhinehart). John Foley, an English teacher in Washington, challenged the use of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Of Mice and Men, and To Kill a Mockingbird in high school English classes due to the racial slurs and the way African Americans are portrayed in the novels. Foley suggested other novels that still fit the curriculum that were considered to be less controversial. He believed his students, who were mostly from minorities, felt uncomfortable and were uninterested in the novels since the racial slurs used were directly aimed at the race they identified with. He stated the his past students would not be able to focus on the overall theme of the book, but focused on the racial language used by the author. He felt the new novels he suggested would be easier for his students to relate to in their subjects and the events that take place within them are more recent (Albright). Foley s solution to his problem is similar to the one mentioned in this essay. The main difference is his motivation behind why the novels need to be changed; instead of just focusing on the relevance of the novel, he focuses on the language and the negative emotions it ... INTRODUCTION In order to provide a detailed analysis of recent pharmacological developments involving the human immune system, it is firstly necessary to introduce the innate and adaptive immune responses . Immunosuppressants and immunomodulators will be differentiated between and a selection of new and often experimental drugs belonging to each category will be provided. Specific drugs will be described including the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics involved with each type. The possible clinical uses will be alluded to along with details from recent research. INNATE IMMUNITY Innate immunity is the first line of defence and comprises physical (skin), biochemical (complement, lysozyme) and cellular (macrophages, neutrophils)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The role of complement amp; antibody antigen complexes Antibodies have two distinct functions: to recognise and combine with an antigen, and to activate a defence mechanism for example by activating the complement sequence (Dale et. al., 1994). This sequence involves more than thirty proteins (Mollnes amp; Harboe, 1996) and has the function of the destruction and removal of invading micro organisms and subcellular debris and to promote clearance of antigen antibody complexes (Dale et. al., 1994). These functions are achieved mainly via complement s ability to attract leukocytes (Lessof, 1993). The interaction of antibody with specific antigen results in the formation of the antibody antigen complex. This complex has several functions: for instance, to immobilise an antigen therefore preventing attack upon host cells, to block active toxic regions of particular bacteria, and to allow phagocytic attack. Memory cells Once the antigens have been destroyed the plasma cells disappear leaving a few as memory cells which enable a swift response upon second exposure to the antigen (Trounce, 1997). Memory cells are the basis of active immunisation against bacteria (Downie et. al., 1994). Humoral immunity is most efficient against antigens dissolved in body fluids, that is extracellular pathogens, primarily bacteria whereas cell mediated immunity is most effective against intracellular pathogens such as viruses (Tortora amp; Grabowski, 1996). One of Morrie s aphorisms that means the most to me is, accept the past as the past, without denying it or discarding it. One reason this quote speaks loudly to me is because I tend to dwell on the things that I have already done in the past. This quote let s me know that I need to keep what I have done in the past in mind, learn from it, and do it differently the next time. Another reason that this is an important quote to me is because the past can bring me down sometimes. Reading this quote reminds me that you learn from your mistakes. Asian American Population And Asian Americans The Asian American population is a major facet of American life; beginning their lives as immigrants they have worked their way to become integral members of society. In 2010 there were 14.7 million Asian Americans living in the United States and in 2011 that number increased to 18.2 million.1 Culturally, Asian Americanpeople have traditions and beliefs that contradict those of the Western world.2 Culture molds people s values, attitudes, and beliefs; influences their perceptions of self and others; and determines the way they experience their environment. 10 As a result there are certain barriers that exist when communicating with Asian Americans due to their cultural background. Additionally, Asians living in America suffer from the Model Minority Myth, which typecasts these people as being financially and educationally well off in comparison to other ethnic groups.2 Due to this Asian Americans aren t considered more at risk for many health risks compared to other ethnicities; cultural and physical barriers act as a hindrance to Asian Americans receiving healthcare services, primarily mental health related services. Marie Maynard Daly Throughout Gender and Race in the Physical Sciences, I have been struck by how rarely in STEM we shed a light on the women of color that already exist and thrive in the sciences. Often, when we discuss diversity in the sciences, we only discuss it in the frame of a problem. More specifically, we tend to focus on the problem of there not being enough of these women in the field. As a result of the lack of attention paid to pioneering women in STEM, many young people of all backgrounds are inclined to believe that there are no women of color doing great things in the field that there are no role models.
