Two Things That Play An Important Role In Jane s Life
Reactions: Throughout this episode I felt stressed for Jane. Choosing between two things that play an
important role in the life of someone is extremely hard to do. She is faced with the overwhelming
pressures of impressing her father or pursuing what will help her get by in life. She is constantly
pressured by Rogelio more than anyone, considering he wants her to be apart of his life on television.
While this is happening, Michael (Jane s ex fiance), is working with his partner to crack down on their
Sin Rostro (big time drug dealer who has not been identified) case. Michael is stuck on the notion that
Rafael is Sin Rostro, but it is partly due to Michael s hatred towards Rafael. Meanwhile, Rafael is
trying his best to impress Xiomara in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am constantly faced with the decision of choosing between my friends, working, and the sport I play,
but it always works out in the end. I am glad that I do not have to make such a life altering decision
yet.
Beautiful writing: But Jane, this is a tough business. You can t look to others to validate you. If you
choose to make a living in the financial arts, you must believe in yourself. Rogelio speaking with Jane.
I chose this quote because Rogelio does a good job of putting emphasis in what will really play a role
in how her life will be with the career she is choosing. What he says is true; no one but yourself is able
to motivate you and make you successful. Having belief in yourself is more important than anything
else when it comes to success.
Main argument: The main argument of this episode is that no matter what kind of pressures someone
might be facing, it is important that he or she chooses what feels right to them.
One character: This episode definitely shows a lot of character change in Rafael; it is shown that he is
concerned with impressing/winning over Xiomara. It shows how much his character has changed with
Jane. Before Jane, he would not even have considered to be concerned with the mother s approval of
the girl he is trying to

Economic Impact Of Economic Freedom On Economic Growth
Introduction: In the last three decades the concept of economic freedom have dominated the economic
theories as the best way to economic development, Many economists and politicians believe that
economic freedom displays a significantly positive effect on economic growth, while others believe
that the increased freedom will have a negative effects on economic growth. In addition, all of the
international organizations such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF)
encourage developing countries to follow the freedom economic policies. Basically, the myth is that
America has been founded on the free market; the government has done very little; it has thrived
under free trade. But actually, if you look at the history, this is actually the country that has succeeded
most with protectionist policies Ha Joon. Consequently, some countries achieved good results and
could improve their economies. However, others became in the terrible situation. This casts some
doubts about the economic freedom as the perfect way to improve economic activities. Hypothesis
The paper tries to show whether the economic freedom policy to improve economic activity in
developing countries or not. Based on the economic theory, I offer the following hypothesis and
alternative hypothesis: Hypothesis (H0) Economic freedom increases economic growth. Hypothesis
(H1) Economic freedom does not increase economic growth. Methodology: In this paper, we

##torical Analysis Of Maya Angelou s The Fight She Fought
The Fight She Fought Ariel Worrell Wilkes Community College The Fight She Fought Maya Angelou
s speech (August 31, 2008) at Coretta Scott King s funeral was very successful. She drivingly outlined
the issues that Coretta Scott King fought for throughout her life, Angelou did so in a way that allowed
those listening to feel connected to King. Angelou makes it clear that King s life was one of great
importance. She delivered the information in a relevant and important way. Her use of relevancy,
audience connections, and humor allowed her to deliver the eulogy meaningfully. Audience
Connection is essential when delivering a speech, Angelou mastered the technique as seen in this
speech. Angelou (2008) opens the Eulogy with a popular hymnal, I open my mouth to the Lord and I
won t turn back, no. I will go, I shall go. I ll see what the end is gonna be. . This allowed her to make a
connection with the audience. Many people knew this hymnal; therefore, they felt as if she is one of
them. Angelou (2008) went on to say Those of us who gather here, principalities, presidents, senators,
those of us who run great companies, who know something about being parents, who know something
about being preachers and teachers those of us.. . Those of us referred to everyone in the audience,
Angelou (2008) was including everyone and in doing so she was making an audience connection.
Angelou (2008) then said we owe something from this minute on; so that this gathering is not just
another footnote on the pages of history. We owe something. . No one wants to believe that their
actions will be forgotten. By this point in the speech Angelou had already made an audience
connection and by doing so has allowed for a call to action. This call to action is a very important part
of the speech because it developed relevancy in a way that was consequential. One tool that Angelou
used while giving the eulogy was relevancy. Following the hymnal, Angelou (2008) begins by saying
In the midst of national tumult, in the medium of international violent uproar.. Violent uproar is all
around, which makes this quote from the speech incredibly relevant. The entire Eulogy by

The Topic Of Specific Language Impairment
The topic of Specific Language Impairment (SLI) has been debated throughout the field of speech
language pathology for various years. It is a topic that has been researched to a limited extinct and is
continued to be a mystery for professionals within the field. To further the controversy as to what is
considered an SLI, many professionals debate whether a person who utilizes sign language can be
diagnosed with this disorder. The disorder becomes even more complex when the question of
assessment of this disorder is evaluated. The complexity of this disorder further fuels the controversy
and frustration of speech language pathologists around the world.
To determine ones opinion regarding SLI s in individuals, whose primary language is sign language,
the basics of this disorder must first be addressed. According to Richard Schwartz, an SLI can be
defined as an impairment of language comprehension, production, or both in the absence of a hearing
impairment, a general developmental delay, any neurological impairment and/or a diagnosis of autism
(2009). With 7% of the American population diagnosed with an SLI, it can be said that a more
accurate prevalence can be identified if professionals identify reliable inclusionary characteristics of
the disorder. if Based on this primary definition, a person who is Deaf and utilizes sign language as a
primary form of communication purely based on his or her hearing impairment. Although many
individuals with hearing impairments do

Ethical Issues of a Doctor s Office
McCall Ethics Case Study Jerry is Dr. Williams s office assistant. He has received professional
training as both a medical assistant and an LPN. He is handling all the phone calls while the
receptionist is at lunch. A patient calls and says he must have a prescription refill for Valium and that
the provider, a friend, calls in the medication prior to any flights. This type of request happens often
and in slightly different scenarios, but the outcome should remain the same to avoid ethical and legal
issues. This paper will review the case study to help resolve the problem at hand, refilling a
prescription without provider authorization. Qualified Medical Training Understanding the definitions
of a licensed practical nurse, LPN, and a medical assistant, MA is the first step to making a factual
conclusion for this case study. Support staff to the provider cannot make decisions about medication
refills for patients without a direct order from the provider. This action is outside the scope of practice
for an LPN or MA. Licensed Practical Nurse An LPN is a role in support of the nurse or RN, a
registered Nurse usually in a skilled nursing setting such as a hospital or long term care facility. As
defined by the National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses, NFLPN, an LPN means the
performance for compensation of authorized acts of nursing which utilize specialized knowledge and

The Effects Of Child Poverty
There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children. There is no duty more
important than ensuring that their rights are respected, that their welfare is protected, that their lives
are free from fear and want and that they can grow up in peace (Kofi Annan). Children are like
flowers. They must be loved, protected, and nourished in order to bloom. If they lack any of these
essentials, they are most likely going to suffer and die without being able to serve their purpose. There
is this universal hope that all children will flourish in life; however, there are certain circumstances
that draw a line between the fortunate and unfortunate. In this case, the factor that dictates their future
is their status in society, such as having the leisure of being able to attend facilities that aren t available
to others. Poverty in children has numerous psychological, physical and mental effects and well being.
Based on the context that the children operate within their social and academic forte, poverty affects
the children unfavorably in numerous distinct ways. Children living in poverty are often denied access
to basic needs and proper living conditions for healthy growth and development. As such, the
insufficiency or dearth of the needs affect their lives in a great way that constrain their normal growth
to become productive people in the world.
In the United States, child poverty has been a severe issue even when the country was established.

Objectives Of Management By Objectives
A good management system is essential to run an organization effectively. One main strategy to run a
good management system is through the use of a famous management module, management by
objectives (MBO) that proposed by Peter Drucker (Drucker, 1954). This module has remained popular
and compelling method for achieving goals. As Daft (2012) explained, management by objectives is a
system whereby managers and the employees define goals for every department, project, and use them
to monitor the organization s subsequent performance (p. 194). The management by objectives is a
management ideology which is used by Peter Drucker who states that the management based on
setting up objectives and self control are understood as a philosophy of management (Kralev, 2011).

After setting the organizational objectives as explained in the first step previously, the objectives
planned now are easily converted into marketing or organizational plan which then require to be
distributed into different individual sections within the organization (Daft, 2012). In addition, this step
involves the accurate setting of performance standard for the subordinates in a previously arranged
time period. While developing an organizational action plan, there are few things that need
consideration. Subsequently, as described by Kralev (2011) which enlightened that both superiors and
subordinates need to refer the organizations mission and vision in order to ensure that the action plan
developed later align with the organizations current objectives. In addition, Aswathappa (2007),
explained that managers or the superiors are alarmed about their subordinates performance and they
are ready to observe or to take action on what they are supposed to do. As the top management set an
action plan to achieve their targeted objectives which their subordinates are going to implement,

Norse Mythology vs. Greek Mythology Essay
Norse Mythology vs. Greek Mythology
There are many mythologies in the world, and all of these have things in common as well as
differences. A very popular mythology would be Greek mythology, Which many people know about it
or at least know of it. Another not as popular mythology is Norse mythology; Norse mythology is the
religion of the Norse people. The Norse people are the ancient people of northern Europe
(Scandinavia, Iceland, Denmark, Northern Germany etc.) (World Book 259). A major difference
between Norse mythology and Greek mythology are both cultures views of the after life and what
happens there. In Greek mythology there is one allotted place for people to go after death and once
they are there they stay there for all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where as in Greek mythology there is a subconscious good and bad categorizing of your deeds and
actions during your life rather than how you died. Another difference is the creatures. In Greek
mythology there are three basic non human creatures: the gods, the titans, and the nymphs. In Norse
mythology there are 5 main non human creatures: the Aesir and Vanir (gods), the Jotnar (giants), the
Álfar (Álfar), Svartálfar (dark Álfar), and the Valkyries. The Aesir and the Vanir are your basic
extraordinary immortals, though in Norse mythology the gods were thought to be mortal, only kept
immortal by eating the apples of Idun. However, they could be slain even if they ate the apples. The
Jotnar were giants or the Norse equivalent to the Greek titans, but the Jotnar did not fight with the
gods in a war like the titans did with the Greek gods. The Álfar are lesser gods that control nature.
Álfar are viewed as gods of fertility due to their connection to nature (agriculture specifically); they re
not actual gods in the sense it is used but more so magically inclined creatures. Finally are the
Svartálfar or commonly referred to as dwarves, trolls, dark Álfar, or black Álfar. The Svartálfar aren t
anything like the Álfar; they are regarded as being small, disfigured people who dwell in mountains
and mounds and hate the light. The Svartálfar were master craftsman and made many things for the
gods such as Thor s hammer (Mjollnir) a wall around

Homeless Vehicle Project With David Lurie
Since the wealthy class decided whether or not what was considered fine art, many contemporary
artists began to rebel against these practices and began creating work that not only included lower
class members of society but also addressed many of the issues they were facing in their societies such
as homelessness. During the mid 1980s, many contemporary artists began taking their works out of
the museums and galleries and started presenting them in the city streets, poverty stricken ghettos and
urban communities. By doing this they were able to reach a broader audience outside of high class
society. Artists such as, Krzysztof Wodiczko, was one of the first artist to take his work out of the
museums and into the streets.
Wodiczko began making art work pertaining to many important social issues. His work titled
Homeless Vehicle Project with David Lurie (Kalb Pg.106) tackles the issue of homelessness in New
York. Wodiczko vehicles were begun and developed in the conjunction with the homeless people who
were to use to them. . This concept was based on the design of an, enlarged shopping car that provided
the users with storage space, shelter and mobility. (106) These vehicles were to serve a purpose much
greater than art, it was to address the issue of homelessness in community. As stated previously the
piece provided shelter due to the circumstances of them not having a place to live or not having a
steady means of income, storage space to put their belongings in for

The Culture Of Dissent In The 1960 s
Due to the Cold War, the 1960s saw a worldwide increase in students with higher levels of education,
who, armed with a language of dissent from academic literature, generated counterresponses to both
capitalism and communism. In the US, writers like Galbraith and Goldwater inspired dissident student
voices from both the political left and right. While some were inspired by Johnson s and Randolph s
Civil Rights rhetoric, and participated in Freedom Rides, others aligned with Wallace s segregationist
ideologies. A similar culture of dissent was also apparent in the Soviet Union, where Solzhenitsyn and
self published samizdat provided the language of anti communist dissent, which compared Soviet life
to life in a Gulag prison. Unlike in the US,

Introduction This paper will explore the factors of Shawn Nelson and the actions that lead him to be

nieborhood he was living in? in the film it was briefly mentioned that he had friends who had done
drugs with him. They were also giving nelson drugs so they could take advantage of him and his
plumber business. the middle class community that Nelson was living in was dealing crystal meth.

Black Boy Moral Dilemmas
In Black Boy, Richard Wright, the protagonist of the novel, faces many decisions that he must make,
but his moral dilemmas are the most important and make the biggest impact on Richard s life. A moral
dilemma is a situation requiring a choice between equally undesirable alternatives that is also
concerned with goodness or badness of character. Richard s moral dilemmas often decide whether he
will survive in the South or not because they usually occur around conflict that can get Richard
lynched. One moral dilemma that Richard repeatedly faces is whether to stand up for himself against
oppression, and most of the time white people, or to stifle his emotions and let the situation go. More
specifically, Richard faces this type of moral dilemma after he breaks his bike while he is out and is
offered a ride to town by a small group of white boys. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

severely angers the white boy. All of a sudden, they smashed a bottle on the back of Richard s head

to fight. This is a serious moral dilemma that Richard faces. He must decide whether it is worth it to
defend himself against these boys, or allow the situation to unfold and try to avoid conflict. The right
thing to do is, although he did not start the fight, to not carry on a fight, but it could also come down to
a matter of survival where Richard would have to fight these boys to not be killed right there on the

Karl Marx, Adam Smith, And Andrew Carnegie

20th Cent. World History
Fall 2015
Karl Marx, Adam Smith, and Andrew Carnegie The writings of Karl Marx, Adam Smith, and Andrew
Carnegie all made significant impacts in society not only in their time, but continuing to this day.
Marx shared is opinions on capitalism and his views of the progression of human society in his
writing, The Communist Manifesto which he wrote with Friedrich Engles and published in 1848.
Marx believed in the idea of a society with no capitalism and the abolition of the bourgeoisie. Adam
Smith wrote a book called The Wealth of Nations which was published in 1776. In his book he tells
the reader what helps to build the economy of a nation and essentially advocates for capitalism.
Andrew Carnegie was a self made multimillionaire who gained his wealth by investing in the
railroads. In 1889 he wrote an article titled The Gospel of Wealth in which he discusses the duty of the
upper class to distribute their surplus wealth to those in need. All three of these men were influential in
their works and ways of life, but all three had extremely different opinions on capitalism. Karl Marx s
viewed capitalism as something that was negative for our society, but that would eventually become a
positive. Because of capitalism, the bourgeoisie (upper and middle class) would often oppress the
proletarians (working class). In The Communist Manifesto he discusses how capitalism is part of the
transition to communism. Marx

financial crisis, India didn t wilt under its pressure due to it s the Government s progressive policies
and full fledged reforms. Particularly, nationalization and liberalisation were the real saviors of India
from the recession. Also, the national sectors and global raid helped to maintain the economy in
proper way.
Introduction
India is an exponentially growing economic powering the world. Indian economy stands today as one
of the influential and attractive economy. The liberalization move by the Government of India in
1990s has given a boost to the Indian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both imports and exports have taken a leap of 20% on an average. In July 1991 with the
announcement of sweeping liberalization dismantled import controls, lowered customs duties, and
devalued the currency... virtually abolished licensing controls on private investment, dropped tax rates,
and broke public sector monopolies.
Yet the aggregate growth data tells us that the acceleration of economic growth began earlier, in the
early or mid 1980s, long before the exchange crisis of 1991 and the shift of the government of
Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh toward neoliberal economic reforms. To the extent that we trust
aggregate national level income accounts, it is clear that by 1985 Indian aggregate economic growth
had undergone a structural break.

My subject today is Video Games. We re talking about this subject because we want to know his

Essay About Moving School
The most significant challenge that I ve had to face was moving schools and even states. It was some
of the biggest and quickest changes I ve ever had to deal with and it wasn t easy especially at ages 8
through 11. I learned to adapt to things faster so I wouldn t get the feeling of being left behind. This
experience definitely changed me as a person making me stronger and independent. Moving to new
schools is never simple; moving meant leaving everything behind and having to start over. From
preschool to third grade I had gone to the same elementary, had lots of friends and knew most of the
teachers. The school itself had been around for about 60 years and they decided it was getting old so
they wanted to build a new school in the back. The only problem was not all the students would be
transferring over to the new school and I was one of those students. ... Show more content on

We got to visit California almost every summer to see family and go to the fun amusement parks like
Disneyland and Universal Studios. I was excited because that meant I d get to leave the new school
behind , along with the mean people and start over. The schools in California were definitely a lot
more different than the schools in Idaho, one difference being that the schools in California were more
outdoors with bungalows. I also realized there was much more hispanics in California than there was
in Idaho. I was beginning my last year of elementary in a new place and then going on to middle
school which was exciting. What I learned in this new school with these new people in a completely
different state was that being myself was probably the most important thing in life. I didn t enjoy the
feeling of having to put other people s wants and needs over my own, that wasn t helping me at all. I

Violent Video Games And Aggression Analysis
Since their appearance in the market, video games are the often the subject of moral debates. Parents
are afraid they will influence their children to act out and commit crimes. Mental health professionals
worry they ll impact psychological development. In most cases, this is the result of the need of a
scapegoat. People need something to blame for the wrong they observe in the immediate world around
them. Video games follow rock n roll, comic books, and even radio in a long list of sources of moral
panic. There is no evidence to support the claim that they are, without a doubt, the reason for violent
crime in teens.
Studies into the effects of violent video games on teenage behavior stem back decades. Yet no study
has isolated video games as being the sole contributor to juvenile violence. Consumption of video
games continues to rise, while violent crimes committed by teens are in decline. Total video game
sales in the US increased 204% from 1994 to 2014. Meanwhile, murders committed by juveniles
acting alone fell 76% in that same period (1). If the claims of critics were valid, then what should be
happening is an increase in teenage crime. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many experiments that blame video games for increased aggression and desensitization to violence do
not account for factors such as family history and mental health. It s questionable to claim that video
games alone could turn a previously upstanding teen into a delinquent. Previous experiments often
relied on only ten minutes of playing followed by a questionnaire to establish increased regression
levels. With such limited data, it s easy to make rash assumptions. A three year study conducted by
psychology professor Christopher J. Ferguson saw the effects of violent video games on aggression
vanish when adjusted to how the games are played in real life. (3) In fact, over time, video games
seemed to actually help players

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Natural Rubber
Natural rubber also known as india rubber. It is made by the juice of a tree, which is coagulated using
acetic acid, smoked and dried. Natural rubber consist of polymers of the organic compound isoprene
with some organic compound and water. Natural rubber are used in many applications and products.
This is because natural rubber contain large stretch ratio and high resilience and it is waterproof.
Rubber have unique physical properties and chemical properties. Rubber s stress strain is modelled as

Due to the particle size of carbon black it contain some risk. This can caused lung disease because of
the combustion of carbon black at the workplace. It will release some dust may produce discomfort to
the upper respiratory tract. On the other hand, carbon black is not easily biodegradable. Carbon black
is expensive compared to other material.
There are reasons why natural rubber was chosen to make part of tyres. The first reason is natural
rubber has high tensile strength. Because of this high tensile strength natural rubber can hold shape
and is more flexible. Second, natural rubber is more environmental friendly compared to synthetic
rubber. This is because it is originally derived from latex which produced from tree. Besides, natural
rubber is a biodegradable material. It can be degrade rapidly especially under some extreme conditions
such as soil. Soil contain some microorganism, bacteria or fungi it help to degrade rubber.
The reason for choosing carbon black as addition material in fillers is it has decreased rolling
resistance. Other than that, carbon black is also help to extend the life of the tyres by conducting heat
away from the tread and the belt area. These can directly contributed to reductions in greenhouse gas
emissions. Carbon black also acts as a pigment, while made the rubber become black so the tyres is

The Impact Of Technology On Society Today
There is no doubt that technology plays a big role in society today. Whether people like it or not, one
thing is definite: technology is not going anywhere. Having grown up in the midst of the digital
revolution, technology was going to be a part of my life, and it most definitely has. No matter if it is
the Internet, computers, cell phones, tablets, video games; I have been exposed to all of them.
However, of all the pieces of technology I have used, the one I cannot live without would have to be
my laptop. This year has opened my eyes to how important it is to have a nice laptop. Whether I am
taking notes in class, doing research online, typing a paper, surfing the web, or Skyping my family
back home, I am always using my laptop. Sure, I still use my cell phone a lot, but I honestly do not
use social media on it as I used to. So really the main purposes for my cell phone are what they should
be for; making phone calls and sending texts. If I did not have a laptop, it would make going to school
more challenging, I would spend much more time at the library using their computers and could not
enjoy lying in bed watching my favorite show on Netflix. Of course I could handle not having a
laptop. However, after completing my first year away at school, my eyes have been opened to the
importance of having one, and I have seen how dependent I am on mine. I use the technology I use
because it makes my life easier, simpler, and more efficient. I also use technology because it

Smaug Song Analysis
Movie Music Analysis: Smaug s Theme Smaug s Theme was composed by Howard Shore for 2013 s
The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. The genre of the piece is film fantasy, adventure and has touches of
horror mixed in with it. The song fits the style of the majestic dragon that is its namesake, and it flows
wonderfully with the movie, taking in various other relative themes and working with the events that
happen in the movie. Smaug s Theme was written by the award winning Howard Shore and performed
by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra for the second Hobbit movie, Desolation of Smaug. Shore,
born on 18th October, 1946 in Toronto, studied at the Berklee College of Music. His first big score

This is an example of how most of the piece has an underlying, faster beat to uphold the feeling of
fleeing . Occasionally the underlying ostinato isn t present because, in those scenes, the dwarves and
Bilbo are in a room where the dragon cannot get to them. Smaug s Theme is in 4/4 (simple duple) time
and starts out slow, before an accelerando, eventually hitting 180bpm, which represents the movie s
rapid change of pace. This represents the drift from a conversation, to a dragon hunting down the
company to kill them. Through the rhythm and dynamics, it is clear that Howard Shore s Smaug s
Theme has successfully highlighted the style of the film. Smaug is very magnificent and grand, yet
treacherous and cunning. In terms of the timbre of Smaug s Theme, a symphony orchestra is used with
the strings and brass being the most prominent, plus a few extra instruments such as an Indonesian
gamelan and finger cymbals. Little woodwind is heard, with flute and clarinet making a few solo
appearances. The lower brass, particularly the tuba and trombone, represent Smaug, and his enormous,
powerful, and deceivingly slow manner. The violins play a large range of pitches and depict the
beautiful, yet eerie emptiness of the halls under the mountain and how it has an immense dread feel to
it. Gamelan, chimes and finger cymbals are used to forge an exotic feeling and together, sound like
treasure, with the light chinking of coins and gold. The percussion

Halacha Research Paper
In halacha there are four major categories of damages. There is that of the pit, the chewer, the ox, and

damage is when Rachel Rubenstein s self driving car hit the car of Shimon Shalom leaving him
hospitalized for a long period of time. Other than that there aren t additional damages due to the lack
of other parties that are included. When breaking down what the actual damage category the accident

Similarly, in my actual Interactive CD ROM on Flash I used the exact same layout. Is the product fit
for purpose? There are many reasons proving that my product is fit for purpose. Some of these
include: I included a bibliography in order to adhere to the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act. The
reasoning for making a Bibliography is to give credit to all of the author s work that I used throughout
my CD ROM. Failure to include all sources of information in my bibliography can result in a failing
of the unit due to Plagiarism. I also followed the Performing Rights Society legislation by paying
£102.13 for the release of my promotional CD ROM. Another way in which my promotional CD
ROM is fit for purpose is due to the fact that I got a film classification for my video from the British
Board of Film Classification. I think this is a strength of my product as it makes the product legal and
allows me to release it to the public. Are you happy with the technical skills you gained? Overall, I am
extremely happy with the skills I required during the making of my interactive CD ROM. Some of the
skills that I feel I have developed are: my planning skills, my coding skills, my ability to make a
product from scratch, team working skills, filming skills and I think that I gained extremely overall
due to this part of the course. I have also developed my Photoshop and Flash skills. Do you feel a

diamonds. Diamonds essentially serve as a pillar to the DRC s struggling economy. Plagued by civil

The exploitations of the land began when King Leopold declared all unoccupied land owned by the
state. This move gave him exclusive rights to the lucrative trade in rubber and ivory. Soon afterwards,
private companies were formed to exploit the natural mineral wealth of the Congo. Along with the
exploitation of the land, the people were forced into slave labor. Natives were brutally forced to
collect rubber and mine for minerals. Under the agreement with King Leopold, Belgium annexed the
Congo in 1908. Under Belgian rule forced labor was gradually phased out. However, the Congo was
still perceived by the Belgian government as merely an economic investment. Very few if any
initiatives were established in order to promote the economic development of sectors important to the
welfare of the native people. The economic developments that were initiated were directly related to
the exploitation of the land. Railroads and other forms of transportation were developed in order to
increase the profits of the Belgian government. Plantations and large mining operations were formed
with native people occupying the labor pool.
Along with exploiting the Congo s natural resources, the Belgian government also established
Christian missionaries in order to civilize the natives. As a result, many Congolese citizens were
educated at the secondary level or higher. These same people would eventually protest

Cultural Components Of The Deaf Community Essay
The Deaf community has various different cultural components that create and bring the culture
together as a whole. Some of these cultural components consist of a pride filled community with
dignity, American Sign Language, art/paintings and literature, a close knit and bonded community, and
shared experiences with a lot in common. The Deaf culture provides the different bonds that hold the
community together.
The Deaf community has distinctive pride and dignity to resemble their culture. The people in the
Deaf community are proud of their hearing status. Most of them would remain deaf if they had the
opportunity to change their hearing status. The Deaf community is very proud of their community and
the people that make up the community. They also refer to themselves as normal and see no problem
with their deafness. In the film Through Deaf Eyes, a speaker explains how the Deaf community is
normal:
People need to realize that we re normal. Don t just look at my ear. Don t look at it as a physical
handicap. We re normal, really. Yes, we do have some accommodations to be made to survive in a
society where it s dominated by hearing people. But at the same time, if you were to come into the
room and it would be full of deaf people then you would need the accommodation, too. (Garey, D.,

Coal Mining As Environmental Health Issue
There is a common bond throughout Kentucky that stretches from western to eastern state lines that
unites many Kentuckians. This common thread is coal mining. Window decals proudly proclaiming
Coal miner s daughter , friend of coal license plates, and yard signs declaring Coal keeps the lights on
are only a fraction of the coal mining propaganda frequently seen throughout my community. There is
an allure to being a coal miner not only because it is a high paying job that does not require a college
degree, but also because being a coal miner evokes a sense of pride within people. However due to the
occupational hazards and coal s impact on the environment, coal mining also poses as a very real
environmental health issue for not only my community in western Kentucky but the entire state as
well. This research paper aims to describe coal mining as environmental health issue, explain the
potential health risks of working in and living near coal mines, identifying regulations and laws
concerning the issue, describe the industry s response to this issue, describe my community s response
to this issue, and identify needs and nursing interventions required for affected aggregates.

William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet And A Midsummer...
What if I told you that no matter what you look at or how many times you look at it, you ll never truly
be able to see it. Often the things we perceive as the most trustworthy are only misinterpretations of
reality created by our perspective, which make common illusions. Characters in Romeo Juliet and A
Midsummer Night s Dream also experience this idea, demonstrated when they are tricked by their
own perspective and only see what they think is the best scenario. Illusions are created based on
people s perceptions of reality. It is then clear that in Romeo Juliet and A Midsummer Night s Dream,
perspective creates reality. This perspective creates a version of truth that hides the reality from people
s eyes. This is shown when Lysander is tricked by the magic flower into loving Helena, Friar
Lawrence calling Romeo a girl due to his tears, as well as having hallucinations while under the
effects of drugs. The theme in Romeo Juliet and A Midsummer Night s Dream is that perspective
creates reality. This is demonstrated by Lysander s fake love for Helena. This theme is clearly
represented when the love flower influences Lysander to change his perspective on how he viewed
both Helena and Hermia, thus hiding his true emotions and making the fabricated one real. Content

Advantages Of Homeschooling
Every year, there is a gradual intake of debates on whether homeschooling is more effective than
public schooling. Since 2003, there has been a steady increase of 36% of students being homeschooled
in the United States, and a statistic of 1.5 million students being homeschooled in 2007 (Bergstrom 5).
As more and more students are being homeschooled, it is beginning to become a more effective way
of learning and lifestyle than going to public school. Despite the disadvantages people accuse about
homeschooling, it can actually improve the life of students by giving them a better advantage to a
social life, reducing the risk of being involved in alcohol or drug use, developing a higher standard of
maturity and morals that students of public schooling do not have, and having more success in
schoolwork and learning.
Throughout a child s life of public schooling, they have a vast variety of social interactions with other
students and their teachers, but despite what many peers believe about the interactions in
homeschooling, they too have the same and even more as those in public schooling. According to
Koehler, studies have shown that the, homeschooled population demonstrated above average of
overall social skills, (Koehler 4). Because homeschoolers do not get the same advantages as public
schooling, they gain a wide variety of socialization throughout experiences offered at church groups,
playing at parks, joining outside clubs or organizations, and tutoring groups. By

Book Report On Fenn Valley Vineyards Essay
Fenn Valley Vineyards
On September 9th, a group of friends (Charlotte Fung, Renee Swartz, and Anthony Dilernia), and I
travelled to Fennville, MI to tour Fenn Valley Vineyards. For the tour, our guide was Todd, who is a
graduate from Michigan State University with a degree in horticulture. Besides being a tour guide at
Fenn Valley, Todd is also the Vineyard Manager, his job responsibilities are trying to get the highest
quality grape, obtain the highest grape yield given the limitation during the growing season and try to

About Fenn Valley
Fenn Valley is a 43 year old vineyard that operates on a 240 acre farm. Even though it has 240 acres
only 83 acres are currently cultivated. The manager mention that the vineyard could possibly expand
another 5 acres if needed, but after that, all the land has been used. Because Fenn valley has reached
capacity on their farm, they are receiving grapes from three other farms in South West Michigan

contracts are laid out: the number of years they will be doing business together, the price quantity of
fruit produced each year, the manner in which the grapes are grown, and who will be doing actual

for stepping up to the challenge. When Akeelah completes her first turn with an extremely high
scoring word, Dylan gives Akeelah a look of disgust but composes himself and gets a word that scores
almost as high. Dylan s look displayed nonverbally that he had underestimated Akeelah but that he
still despised her and wanted to beat her. Dylan begins to show some mercy when he feels like he is
gonna lose but then says arrivederci and rubs it in Akeelah s face when he actually ends up winning.
There is an extreme dislike between Akeelah and Dylan and I wouldn t be surprised if based on this

Donald Trump As A President
Donald Trump for President of the United States
I strongly support the Republican candidate Donald Trump as our president for the upcoming election
of 2016. He is a great politician and also a very smart man. He is what this country needs to bring us
out of the dark hole that we have been sitting in these past few years. He is the man with the plan and
will turn this country back around to where it needs to be! Trump is a strong believer in the use of
American Exceptionalism, or that this country is much different than all of the other countries. This
country is much different than all of the other countries and we need to start acting like it! We keep
giving in to all of the other countries and giving them what they want or telling them ... Show more

the job and doesn t allow anybody that is slacking to have an important role in his business or some

Lessons with Grandma Sarah
My grandmother, Sarah, is probably the most knowledgeable person I have known since my
childhood. Whenever our schoolteacher asked us to learn about our heritage, I would call over the
phone so that she could explain things I wanted to know. It was a good way of keeping in touch with
her at the moment. However, with time, the need to learn about my heritage or other things that
required her explanation declined, and we lost touch for a long time. Owing to our busy schedule, we
would only go to visit her on major holidays such as Thanksgiving Day, where all members of the
family dedicated their time to celebrate with each other. In 2005, during the Thanksgiving ... Show

She was very excited as I explained the steps to her and as she made her very first video recording, she
would scream; Everyone come! Say something to Sarah, I am recording a video! She was jubilant and
would talk throughout the recording process, which also made that moment memorable since her
voice overrode all others. When it was all done, everybody wanted a copy of it because it was
hilarious having her voice in the background throughout the video. Seeing how happy she was to have
learnt something new, I decided to stay longer and teach her several things including connecting via
Skype. She was thrilled to get to communicate with her children and grandchildren on Skype from my
laptop. By the time I was leaving, Grandma Sarah had known how to make videos using her phone

Starbucks Essay
Starbucks is a corporation well known for roasting, marketing and retailing of crafted quality beverage
that is based on coffee. Starbucks started its operations in Seattle s Pike place market with Howard
Schultz helping in its marketing and retailing efforts. The company is extremely successful and
focused on the development of positive company customer relationships. Starbucks uses company
customer relationships and a customer centered approach as its key business strategy. The customer
centered approach allows the company to maintain its current position in the market. What factors
accounted for the extraordinary success of Starbucks in the early 1990s? What was so compelling
about the Starbucks value proposition? The vision of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why have Starbucks customer satisfaction scores declined? Has the company s service declined, or is
it simply measuring satisfaction the wrong way? Overall, Starbucks customer satisfaction scores
began to decline due to their steps of service and customer centric service in the stores. Starbucks
differentiated itself by providing more beverage choices and allowing the customers to customize their
drinks. However, this worked against them because they were in heavily dense areas that contributed
to longer wait time. Additionally, that led Starbucks customers to believe the coffee chain was focus
on making money and building more stores not customer satisfaction. A poll of the customers
improvements to service, particularly speed of service, was most mentioned. How Does the Starbucks
of 2002 differ from the Starbucks of 1992? In 1992 the company had $100,000 in savings and The
coffee brand was successful, but still relatively small. After going public the company started focusing
on the expansion of the brand. Starbucks had 140 stores located in the Northwest and Chicago. Ten
years later, in 2002, Starbucks had over 4500 stores I the U.S. and internationally. During that time
Starbucks had healthy financial growth and solid earnings and return, while still in their fast growth
stage. The company has managed to continue healthy operations while generating enough public
funds to finance

The Museum Of Natural History
Museums are information organizations, that is, they are about giving the most up to date information
to their patrons. No matter how well their organization, commercially, is wrap it up that part of them
remains the same. From the two museums that I visited, the Henry Ford Museum and the Museum of
Natural History, are clearly about passing information to the patron. There are differences between
them, however, it is the equivalences that I want to focus on as they are what bind them. The three
areas of focus are community, academic outreach, and the stories they share. Creating a strong and
vibrant community is important to museums. Dr. Ronquillo, a leader a Philippine Archeology
museum, so elegantly wrote, A properly planned community museum can express and elucidate the
community s cultural wealth through the appropriate presentation and exhibition of their important
natural and cultural heritage (Ronquillo, 1992). It is the community that keeps generation after
generation coming back to see the history that us humans, the earth, and beyond have gone through.
The journey of information, for most, begins as a child during our time at school. For the Museum of
Natural History, this is quite literal as the museum is a part of the University of Michigan culture.
They have the mascot, the wolverine, College students are going in and out of there through the day.

The Polonium Project
Imagine building something in history that changed people s thoughts on war and weapons, that s
exactly what the atomic bomb did. The atomic bomb was made all over the United States with
thousands of fascinating technicians. The bomb changed many people s outlooks on the creation of
something as huge and powerful as this. The idea of creating such a powerful weapon came about
when Franklin D. Roosevelt received a letter from Albert Einstein and his Hungarian colleague, Leo
Szilard. This letter was to convince President Roosevelt that they needed to create an atomic bomb.
The axis powers had the atomic technology to make bombs and other weapons with it. To keep this
project secret and away from the axis powers, the Americans named it The ... Show more content on

Hundreds of thousands of civilians were vaporized and saturated with radiation. Survivors faced
radiation sickness, starvation, and crippling mutilations. The deaths of Japanese soldiers and civilians
reached around three million. There was also extreme damage after the bombs were dropped. The
islands were subjected to a naval blockade that made food and fuel increasingly scarce. Many of the
deaths were from the initial blast or burns, but (as mentioned) many people died from radiation
sickness. They suffered nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever and weakness. People also had internal
bleeding and bled from their mouths, throats and other places in their bodies. Children growing up in
the late 1940s 60s feared atomic bombs at young ages. The bomb seemed to be like the new
Bogeyman. Schools began to prepare for a bomb if there ever were one to come again, this plan was
called the duck and cover. While people believe that the atomic bomb was a horrendous idea, others
believe it was a very effective and efficient idea. These people who believe it was a good idea believe
that the atomic bomb ended the

Analysis Of My Last Duchess By Robert Browning
Londyn Zografakis
English Period 8
7 November 2014
Throughout history, gender roles have been an important barrier in society. Women are forced to
satisfy expectations established by men and society. My Last Duchess, by Robert Browning, focuses
on the powerful Duke establishing certain expectations of the Duchess, and attempting to control her.
Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, concentrates on Laertes establishing certain expectations of Ophelia,
and seeking to control her. A Room of One s Own, by Virginia Woolf, centers on societal expectations
of Judith, and her father trying to control her. In all three texts, men have the ability to control women
and have the freedom to do as they please. Women must conform to the expectations of faithfulness,
attentiveness, and chastity.
My Last Duchess, by Robert Browning, depicts powerful husbands attempting to control the actions
of their wives as they are free to do as they please. In contrast, women are expected to be faithful and
attentive only to their husbands. The power and control of the Duke is conveyed by a painting of the
Duchess. It belongs to the Duke and is referred to as my last Duchess (1). The use of my demonstrates
the possessive nature of the Duke and his claim of the Duchess as his own personal possession, much
like the painting itself. As the Duke persists on forcing domination upon the Duchess, he is greatly
displeased to find that she treats and considers him as the same value as nearly any other man.

The Effect Of Orange Juice On The Germination Of Mung Bean...
Research Title
The title of this research is Determining the effect of orange juice on the germination of mung bean
seeds. This research aimed to find out how would mung bean seeds will germinate if watered by
orange juice.
Objectives
This research aimed to establish the role orange juice plays in the germination process of mung seeds
in terms of germination rate and the length of roots over time.
Introduction:
Minute made orange juice has a pH of 2.80. The acidity will have a negative effect on the germination
of the seeds. Sour conditions decrease the germination rate of seeds. The length of roots in a
germinating seed is reduced by the acidic conditions, which, in its turn, affects the rate of germination
of seeds (Lee 435) .
The seed membrane is permeable to water, which is necessary for a seed to germinate. Hydrolysis of
polysaccharides in seeds to simple sugars for the germination process is crucial. The permeable seed
membrane allows water to enter the seed. For that, Acidic conditions affect the permeability of seed
membrane, thereby, reducing the chances of germination process (Lee 435) .
It has been acknowledged that legume type of plants are more sensitive to acidic conditions (Ahmad
5) . Mung seeds are from legume type of plants, and that explains why their germination is
significantly affected by orange juice acidity.
A number of factors can affect seeds germination. Warmth, catalysts, and inhibitors can affect
germination. Low and high temperatures cannot

  • 2. Two Things That Play An Important Role In Jane s Life Reactions: Throughout this episode I felt stressed for Jane. Choosing between two things that play an important role in the life of someone is extremely hard to do. She is faced with the overwhelming pressures of impressing her father or pursuing what will help her get by in life. She is constantly pressured by Rogelio more than anyone, considering he wants her to be apart of his life on television. While this is happening, Michael (Jane s ex fiance), is working with his partner to crack down on their Sin Rostro (big time drug dealer who has not been identified) case. Michael is stuck on the notion that Rafael is Sin Rostro, but it is partly due to Michael s hatred towards Rafael. Meanwhile, Rafael is trying his best to impress Xiomara in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I am constantly faced with the decision of choosing between my friends, working, and the sport I play, but it always works out in the end. I am glad that I do not have to make such a life altering decision yet. Beautiful writing: But Jane, this is a tough business. You can t look to others to validate you. If you choose to make a living in the financial arts, you must believe in yourself. Rogelio speaking with Jane. I chose this quote because Rogelio does a good job of putting emphasis in what will really play a role in how her life will be with the career she is choosing. What he says is true; no one but yourself is able to motivate you and make you successful. Having belief in yourself is more important than anything else when it comes to success. Main argument: The main argument of this episode is that no matter what kind of pressures someone might be facing, it is important that he or she chooses what feels right to them. One character: This episode definitely shows a lot of character change in Rafael; it is shown that he is concerned with impressing/winning over Xiomara. It shows how much his character has changed with Jane. Before Jane, he would not even have considered to be concerned with the mother s approval of the girl he is trying to ... • 3. Economic Impact Of Economic Freedom On Economic Growth Introduction: In the last three decades the concept of economic freedom have dominated the economic theories as the best way to economic development, Many economists and politicians believe that economic freedom displays a significantly positive effect on economic growth, while others believe that the increased freedom will have a negative effects on economic growth. In addition, all of the international organizations such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) encourage developing countries to follow the freedom economic policies. Basically, the myth is that America has been founded on the free market; the government has done very little; it has thrived under free trade. But actually, if you look at the history, this is actually the country that has succeeded most with protectionist policies Ha Joon. Consequently, some countries achieved good results and could improve their economies. However, others became in the terrible situation. This casts some doubts about the economic freedom as the perfect way to improve economic activities. Hypothesis The paper tries to show whether the economic freedom policy to improve economic activity in developing countries or not. Based on the economic theory, I offer the following hypothesis and alternative hypothesis: Hypothesis (H0) Economic freedom increases economic growth. Hypothesis (H1) Economic freedom does not increase economic growth. Methodology: In this paper, we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. ##torical Analysis Of Maya Angelou s The Fight She Fought The Fight She Fought Ariel Worrell Wilkes Community College The Fight She Fought Maya Angelou s speech (August 31, 2008) at Coretta Scott King s funeral was very successful. She drivingly outlined the issues that Coretta Scott King fought for throughout her life, Angelou did so in a way that allowed those listening to feel connected to King. Angelou makes it clear that King s life was one of great importance. She delivered the information in a relevant and important way. Her use of relevancy, audience connections, and humor allowed her to deliver the eulogy meaningfully. Audience Connection is essential when delivering a speech, Angelou mastered the technique as seen in this speech. Angelou (2008) opens the Eulogy with a popular hymnal, I open my mouth to the Lord and I won t turn back, no. I will go, I shall go. I ll see what the end is gonna be. . This allowed her to make a connection with the audience. Many people knew this hymnal; therefore, they felt as if she is one of them. Angelou (2008) went on to say Those of us who gather here, principalities, presidents, senators, those of us who run great companies, who know something about being parents, who know something about being preachers and teachers those of us.. . Those of us referred to everyone in the audience, Angelou (2008) was including everyone and in doing so she was making an audience connection. Angelou (2008) then said we owe something from this minute on; so that this gathering is not just another footnote on the pages of history. We owe something. . No one wants to believe that their actions will be forgotten. By this point in the speech Angelou had already made an audience connection and by doing so has allowed for a call to action. This call to action is a very important part of the speech because it developed relevancy in a way that was consequential. One tool that Angelou used while giving the eulogy was relevancy. Following the hymnal, Angelou (2008) begins by saying In the midst of national tumult, in the medium of international violent uproar.. Violent uproar is all around, which makes this quote from the speech incredibly relevant. The entire Eulogy by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Topic Of Specific Language Impairment The topic of Specific Language Impairment (SLI) has been debated throughout the field of speech language pathology for various years. It is a topic that has been researched to a limited extinct and is continued to be a mystery for professionals within the field. To further the controversy as to what is considered an SLI, many professionals debate whether a person who utilizes sign language can be diagnosed with this disorder. The disorder becomes even more complex when the question of assessment of this disorder is evaluated. The complexity of this disorder further fuels the controversy and frustration of speech language pathologists around the world. To determine ones opinion regarding SLI s in individuals, whose primary language is sign language, the basics of this disorder must first be addressed. According to Richard Schwartz, an SLI can be defined as an impairment of language comprehension, production, or both in the absence of a hearing impairment, a general developmental delay, any neurological impairment and/or a diagnosis of autism (2009). With 7% of the American population diagnosed with an SLI, it can be said that a more accurate prevalence can be identified if professionals identify reliable inclusionary characteristics of the disorder. if Based on this primary definition, a person who is Deaf and utilizes sign language as a primary form of communication purely based on his or her hearing impairment. He is handling all the phone calls while the receptionist is at lunch. A patient calls and says he must have a prescription refill for Valium and that the provider, a friend, calls in the medication prior to any flights. This type of request happens often and in slightly different scenarios, but the outcome should remain the same to avoid ethical and legal issues. This paper will review the case study to help resolve the problem at hand, refilling a prescription without provider authorization. Qualified Medical Training Understanding the definitions of a licensed practical nurse, LPN, and a medical assistant, MA is the first step to making a factual conclusion for this case study. Support staff to the provider cannot make decisions about medication refills for patients without a direct order from the provider. This action is outside the scope of practice for an LPN or MA. Licensed Practical Nurse An LPN is a role in support of the nurse or RN, a registered Nurse usually in a skilled nursing setting such as a hospital or long term care facility. • 7. The Effects Of Child Poverty There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children. There is no duty more important than ensuring that their rights are respected, that their welfare is protected, that their lives are free from fear and want and that they can grow up in peace (Kofi Annan). Children are like flowers. They must be loved, protected, and nourished in order to bloom. If they lack any of these essentials, they are most likely going to suffer and die without being able to serve their purpose. There is this universal hope that all children will flourish in life; however, there are certain circumstances that draw a line between the fortunate and unfortunate. In this case, the factor that dictates their future is their status in society, such as having the leisure of being able to attend facilities that aren t available to others. Poverty in children has numerous psychological, physical and mental effects and well being. Based on the context that the children operate within their social and academic forte, poverty affects the children unfavorably in numerous distinct ways. Children living in poverty are often denied access to basic needs and proper living conditions for healthy growth and development. As such, the insufficiency or dearth of the needs affect their lives in a great way that constrain their normal growth to become productive people in the world. In the United States, child poverty has been a severe issue even when the country was established. When looking at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One main strategy to run a good management system is through the use of a famous management module, management by objectives (MBO) that proposed by Peter Drucker (Drucker, 1954). This module has remained popular and compelling method for achieving goals. As Daft (2012) explained, management by objectives is a system whereby managers and the employees define goals for every department, project, and use them to monitor the organization s subsequent performance (p. 194). In Norse mythology there are 5 main non human creatures: the Aesir and Vanir (gods), the Jotnar (giants), the Álfar (Álfar), Svartálfar (dark Álfar), and the Valkyries. The Aesir and the Vanir are your basic extraordinary immortals, though in Norse mythology the gods were thought to be mortal, only kept immortal by eating the apples of Idun. The Jotnar were giants or the Norse equivalent to the Greek titans, but the Jotnar did not fight with the gods in a war like the titans did with the Greek gods. The Álfar are lesser gods that control nature. Álfar are viewed as gods of fertility due to their connection to nature (agriculture specifically); they re not actual gods in the sense it is used but more so magically inclined creatures. • 10. Homeless Vehicle Project With David Lurie Since the wealthy class decided whether or not what was considered fine art, many contemporary artists began to rebel against these practices and began creating work that not only included lower class members of society but also addressed many of the issues they were facing in their societies such as homelessness. During the mid 1980s, many contemporary artists began taking their works out of the museums and galleries and started presenting them in the city streets, poverty stricken ghettos and urban communities. By doing this they were able to reach a broader audience outside of high class society. Artists such as, Krzysztof Wodiczko, was one of the first artist to take his work out of the museums and into the streets. Wodiczko began making art work pertaining to many important social issues. His work titled Homeless Vehicle Project with David Lurie (Kalb Pg.106) tackles the issue of homelessness in New York. Wodiczko vehicles were begun and developed in the conjunction with the homeless people who were to use to them. . This concept was based on the design of an, enlarged shopping car that provided the users with storage space, shelter and mobility. Everything about the exposition introduces him as a man very set in his ways and who does not like to stray from routine or organization. The inciting incident occurs when a newly licensed Dr. Gardenschwartz calls him to get some advice and to ask how Dr. Stern handles his own doctor patient relationships. This first introduces the plot because Dr. Stern answers him saying, All in due time and hangs up on the other practitioner. Black Boy Moral Dilemmas In Black Boy, Richard Wright, the protagonist of the novel, faces many decisions that he must make, but his moral dilemmas are the most important and make the biggest impact on Richard s life. A moral dilemma is a situation requiring a choice between equally undesirable alternatives that is also concerned with goodness or badness of character. Richard s moral dilemmas often decide whether he will survive in the South or not because they usually occur around conflict that can get Richard lynched. One moral dilemma that Richard repeatedly faces is whether to stand up for himself against oppression, and most of the time white people, or to stifle his emotions and let the situation go. This is a serious moral dilemma that Richard faces. He must decide whether it is worth it to defend himself against these boys, or allow the situation to unfold and try to avoid conflict. The right thing to do is, although he did not start the fight, to not carry on a fight, but it could also come down to a matter of survival where Richard would have to fight these boys to not be killed right there on the street. Marx shared is opinions on capitalism and his views of the progression of human society in his writing, The Communist Manifesto which he wrote with Friedrich Engles and published in 1848. Marx believed in the idea of a society with no capitalism and the abolition of the bourgeoisie. Adam Smith wrote a book called The Wealth of Nations which was published in 1776. In his book he tells the reader what helps to build the economy of a nation and essentially advocates for capitalism. Andrew Carnegie was a self made multimillionaire who gained his wealth by investing in the railroads. In 1889 he wrote an article titled The Gospel of Wealth in which he discusses the duty of the upper class to distribute their surplus wealth to those in need. All three of these men were influential in their works and ways of life, but all three had extremely different opinions on capitalism. Karl Marx s viewed capitalism as something that was negative for our society, but that would eventually become a positive. Because of capitalism, the bourgeoisie (upper and middle class) would often oppress the proletarians (working class). Parents are afraid they will influence their children to act out and commit crimes. Mental health professionals worry they ll impact psychological development. In most cases, this is the result of the need of a scapegoat. People need something to blame for the wrong they observe in the immediate world around them. Video games follow rock n roll, comic books, and even radio in a long list of sources of moral panic. There is no evidence to support the claim that they are, without a doubt, the reason for violent crime in teens. Studies into the effects of violent video games on teenage behavior stem back decades. Yet no study has isolated video games as being the sole contributor to juvenile violence. Consumption of video games continues to rise, while violent crimes committed by teens are in decline. This represents the drift from a conversation, to a dragon hunting down the company to kill them. In terms of the timbre of Smaug s Theme, a symphony orchestra is used with the strings and brass being the most prominent, plus a few extra instruments such as an Indonesian gamelan and finger cymbals. Little woodwind is heard, with flute and clarinet making a few solo appearances. The lower brass, particularly the tuba and trombone, represent Smaug, and his enormous, powerful, and deceivingly slow manner. The violins play a large range of pitches and depict the beautiful, yet eerie emptiness of the halls under the mountain and how it has an immense dread feel to it. Characters in Romeo Juliet and A Midsummer Night s Dream also experience this idea, demonstrated when they are tricked by their own perspective and only see what they think is the best scenario. Illusions are created based on people s perceptions of reality. It is then clear that in Romeo Juliet and A Midsummer Night s Dream, perspective creates reality. • 41. Advantages Of Homeschooling Every year, there is a gradual intake of debates on whether homeschooling is more effective than public schooling. Since 2003, there has been a steady increase of 36% of students being homeschooled in the United States, and a statistic of 1.5 million students being homeschooled in 2007 (Bergstrom 5). As more and more students are being homeschooled, it is beginning to become a more effective way of learning and lifestyle than going to public school. Despite the disadvantages people accuse about homeschooling, it can actually improve the life of students by giving them a better advantage to a social life, reducing the risk of being involved in alcohol or drug use, developing a higher standard of maturity and morals that students of public schooling do not have, and having more success in schoolwork and learning. Throughout a child s life of public schooling, they have a vast variety of social interactions with other students and their teachers, but despite what many peers believe about the interactions in homeschooling, they too have the same and even more as those in public schooling. According to Koehler, studies have shown that the, homeschooled population demonstrated above average of overall social skills, (Koehler 4). Because homeschoolers do not get the same advantages as public schooling, they gain a wide variety of socialization throughout experiences offered at church groups, playing at parks, joining outside clubs or organizations, and tutoring groups. • 42. Book Report On Fenn Valley Vineyards Essay Fenn Valley Vineyards On September 9th, a group of friends (Charlotte Fung, Renee Swartz, and Anthony Dilernia), and I travelled to Fennville, MI to tour Fenn Valley Vineyards. For the tour, our guide was Todd, who is a graduate from Michigan State University with a degree in horticulture. Besides being a tour guide at Fenn Valley, Todd is also the Vineyard Manager, his job responsibilities are trying to get the highest quality grape, obtain the highest grape yield given the limitation during the growing season and try to improve the leaf to grape ratio. About Fenn Valley Fenn Valley is a 43 year old vineyard that operates on a 240 acre farm. Even though it has 240 acres only 83 acres are currently cultivated. The manager mention that the vineyard could possibly expand another 5 acres if needed, but after that, all the land has been used. Because Fenn valley has reached capacity on their farm, they are receiving grapes from three other farms in South West Michigan through contracts. Contract are agreements between wineries and grape growers. Everything in these contracts are laid out: the number of years they will be doing business together, the price quantity of fruit produced each year, the manner in which the grapes are grown, and who will be doing actual work. (the farmer, the winery, a vineyard management firm) An interesting fact given on the tour about these contacts is that each party involved is require either to give a three year notice before ending the ... • 43. Akeelah And The Bee Essay In this short clip, the film Akeelah and the Bee demonstrates a couple verbal and nonverbal cues that display liking, affection, and involvement while also showing others like hostility and dislike. The audience can observe a good example of cues involving liking in the relationship of Akeelah and Javier, and also observe good examples of hostility between Akeelah and Georgia and mostly, Akeelah and Dylan. Beginning with Akeelah and Javier, Akeelah shows involvement when she wants to go to his birthday party in the first place. By going to his party, it shows that she likes him or is interested in him. Javier meets her outside of the house and they sit down on a bench to talk; Javier then invites Akeelah inside to see his house. Inviting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a clear dislike from the beginning when the audience hears Akeelah verbally and directly ask Javier: why d you invite Dylan? A little bit later on, we see that Dylan is clearly an entitled scrabble player because he brings a number of gamesets so he can play against everyone at the party. When Dylan asks for one more volunteer, Akeelah volunteers and Dylan reacts by giving her a really heavy glare. This glare is a direct nonverbal cue that he doesn t like Akeelah and that she is basically his rival for stepping up to the challenge. When Akeelah completes her first turn with an extremely high scoring word, Dylan gives Akeelah a look of disgust but composes himself and gets a word that scores almost as high. Dylan s look displayed nonverbally that he had underestimated Akeelah but that he still despised her and wanted to beat her. Dylan begins to show some mercy when he feels like he is gonna lose but then says arrivederci and rubs it in Akeelah s face when he actually ends up winning. There is an extreme dislike between Akeelah and Dylan and I wouldn t be surprised if based on this short clip, they are rivals throughout the whole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tasha Haas English 101. 07/03/15 Lessons with Grandma Sarah My grandmother, Sarah, is probably the most knowledgeable person I have known since my childhood. Whenever our schoolteacher asked us to learn about our heritage, I would call over the phone so that she could explain things I wanted to know. It was a good way of keeping in touch with her at the moment. However, with time, the need to learn about my heritage or other things that required her explanation declined, and we lost touch for a long time. Owing to our busy schedule, we would only go to visit her on major holidays such as Thanksgiving Day, where all members of the family dedicated their time to celebrate with each other. Has the company s service declined, or is it simply measuring satisfaction the wrong way? Overall, Starbucks customer satisfaction scores began to decline due to their steps of service and customer centric service in the stores. Starbucks differentiated itself by providing more beverage choices and allowing the customers to customize their drinks. However, this worked against them because they were in heavily dense areas that contributed to longer wait time. Additionally, that led Starbucks customers to believe the coffee chain was focus on making money and building more stores not customer satisfaction. • 48. The Museum Of Natural History Museums are information organizations, that is, they are about giving the most up to date information to their patrons. No matter how well their organization, commercially, is wrap it up that part of them remains the same. From the two museums that I visited, the Henry Ford Museum and the Museum of Natural History, are clearly about passing information to the patron. There are differences between them, however, it is the equivalences that I want to focus on as they are what bind them. The three areas of focus are community, academic outreach, and the stories they share. Creating a strong and vibrant community is important to museums. Dr. Ronquillo, a leader a Philippine Archeology museum, so elegantly wrote, A properly planned community museum can express and elucidate the community s cultural wealth through the appropriate presentation and exhibition of their important natural and cultural heritage (Ronquillo, 1992). It is the community that keeps generation after generation coming back to see the history that us humans, the earth, and beyond have gone through. The journey of information, for most, begins as a child during our time at school. For the Museum of Natural History, this is quite literal as the museum is a part of the University of Michigan culture. The idea of creating such a powerful weapon came about when Franklin D. Roosevelt received a letter from Albert Einstein and his Hungarian colleague, Leo Szilard. • 50. Analysis Of My Last Duchess By Robert Browning Londyn Zografakis English Period 8 7 November 2014 Throughout history, gender roles have been an important barrier in society. Women are forced to satisfy expectations established by men and society. My Last Duchess, by Robert Browning, focuses on the powerful Duke establishing certain expectations of the Duchess, and attempting to control her. Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, concentrates on Laertes establishing certain expectations of Ophelia, and seeking to control her. A Room of One s Own, by Virginia Woolf, centers on societal expectations of Judith, and her father trying to control her. In all three texts, men have the ability to control women and have the freedom to do as they please. Women must conform to the expectations of faithfulness, attentiveness, and chastity. My Last Duchess, by Robert Browning, depicts powerful husbands attempting to control the actions of their wives as they are free to do as they please. In contrast, women are expected to be faithful and attentive only to their husbands. The power and control of the Duke is conveyed by a painting of the Duchess. It belongs to the Duke and is referred to as my last Duchess (1). The use of my demonstrates the possessive nature of the Duke and his claim of the Duchess as his own personal possession, much like the painting itself. As the Duke persists on forcing domination upon the Duchess, he is greatly displeased to find that she treats and considers him as the same value as nearly any other man. ... • 51. The Effect Of Orange Juice On The Germination Of Mung Bean... Research Title The title of this research is Determining the effect of orange juice on the germination of mung bean seeds. This research aimed to find out how would mung bean seeds will germinate if watered by orange juice. Objectives This research aimed to establish the role orange juice plays in the germination process of mung seeds in terms of germination rate and the length of roots over time. Introduction: Minute made orange juice has a pH of 2.80. The acidity will have a negative effect on the germination of the seeds. Sour conditions decrease the germination rate of seeds. The length of roots in a germinating seed is reduced by the acidic conditions, which, in its turn, affects the rate of germination of seeds (Lee 435) . The seed membrane is permeable to water, which is necessary for a seed to germinate. Hydrolysis of polysaccharides in seeds to simple sugars for the germination process is crucial. The permeable seed membrane allows water to enter the seed. For that, Acidic conditions affect the permeability of seed membrane, thereby, reducing the chances of germination process (Lee 435) . It has been acknowledged that legume type of plants are more sensitive to acidic conditions (Ahmad 5) . Mung seeds are from legume type of plants, and that explains why their germination is significantly affected by orange juice acidity. A number of factors can affect seeds germination. Warmth, catalysts, and inhibitors can affect germination. Low and high temperatures cannot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
