Costa Rica Case Study
Probability of Success Information discharged by the legislature of the United Kingdom uncovered
that the nation encountered the steepest drop in carbon outflows in 2014, after over two decades.
Economy of United Kingdom developed by 2.6 percent in spite of its ozone depleting substance
emanations falling by 8.4 percent. Costa Rica, from January 1 to March 16 of 2015, produced the
greater part of its energy without using coal or gas. The country generated energy using precipitation,
solar power, wind energy, and geothermal energy. Costa Rica delighted in huge financial development
even as its carbon emanations diminished just like United Kingdom. In Australia Throughout the
following couple of decades, Australia confronts the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its outcome was that 2013 16 was uncertainties in the energy industry when it needed focus the most.
This leaves the new government with three key needs. As somewhere else, its capability to deliver the
targets. The main need will be to expand on its present environmental change arrangement to make a
steady, long haul approach that will lead the progress to a low outflows economy. The legislature will
have the capacity to do this through a blend of managerial activity and crossparty help. Then comes
restoration of energy market improvement through the COAG Energy Council. The third is to exploit
the gas market to its maximum value and maintain continuous supply. It requires support as these are
not one sided political issues and this requires help also from the territory and state governments.
Government should also formulate plans for dealing with the issues fast rather than just implementing
what was previously discussed. In 2016, almost 17500 GWh of renewable energy was generated
which was half of the target met. More projects are supposed to start by 2017 which will help the
economy more by increased employment and saving energy prices (Bipartisan;pg 2). Climate policy
For long period of time, Australia has did not have long term climate policy. Rather there have been
toxic debate, bonfire issues and different state policies and not investment in this

Dancers At West Side Dance Studio
West Side Dance Studio is a dance studio in Pembroke Pines, Florida. I used to dance in that studio for
four years. Out of the four years, the most important concept I learned is that dancers do not use their
words to express emotion, they use their body. The teachers at West Side Dance Studio always express
how important it is to tell a story with our bodies. That is why we dance, to express emotion and tell a
story to our audience when performing and even in class. Dancers at West Side Dance Studio use body
language to accomplish their goal of expressing emotion and telling a story to the audience.
My purpose for writing this research paper is to explain how dancers at West Side Dance Studio use
body movements as language to express ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will have an insight on how this discourse community functions and their use of lexis, use of
specific terms. As the reader will see later on the essay, dancers at this community use french
vocabulary. Ballet vocabulary is in French so when dancers in this community are in ballet class, they
use french terminology. In addition to the interviews, I will use personal experience to show how West
Side Dance Studio accomplishes its goals.
Body language is important in the dance community, especially at West Side Dance Studio. By
definition, body language is a means of communicating meaning nonverbally through gestures,
posture, and movements. Some definitions also include facial expressions (Rholetter). Dancers use
gestures, posture, movements, and facial expressions all the time to communicate with each other.
When performing especially, a dancer communicates through gestures and facial expressions. West
Side Dance Studio would often be asked to perform in carnivals. The studio s owner, which also
happened to be one my teachers, thought the dancers should perform at this carnivals and use them as
practice for our performance facial expressions. The more we danced at carnivals, the more chances
we got to practice how we would communicate on stage when performing the dance recitals. In a
personal point of view, the more I performed at carnivals, the more confident I got when performing
on stage. I felt as

The Human Body Is A Complex System, Embedded With Defense
The human body is a complex system, embedded with defense mechanisms to prevent the invasion of
the unknown. Not only does it protect itself from the external breaches, but also has to beware for all
the potential things that can go wrong within the system. When a potential threat is detected, a trained
army of cells will immediately reach the site and work towards achieving balance; this is called
immunity.
A particular protein found in certain grains has been causing commotion, and has recently been
receiving attention from all over the world. In fact, this protein is gluten, and as the name suggests, it
acts as a glue to hold the shape of the product it will be incorporated into, like bread and pasta. Gluten
is present in many items ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, the immune system of a person with CD would bring the gliadin complex past the
defence barrier on the epithelial lining. The epithelial lining is usually in close contact to prevent
pathogen from getting past the barrier; however in CD, the cells do not follow the normal mechanism.
A macrophage cuts the gliadin and expresses it on the cell surface with MHC II molecules. The role of
a macrophage is to maintain immunity by selectively sampling materials in the body by distinguishing
self from foreign material via phagocytosis. MHC II molecules vary for different antigens, hence for
gliadin, HLA DQ2 and HLA DQ8 molecules are expressed on the surface of the macrophage. The
presence of these MHC II molecules attract another set of cell that will lead to inflammation of the
epithelial cells, and the production of autoantibodies against gliadin. The inflammation will attract
killer cells to the site, which will induce death on the epithelial cells. Due to the destruction of the
epithelial lining, gaps will form, allowing more gliadin to pass through the barrier; this will produce a
positive feedback as more autoimmune activity and the destruction of epithelial lining persist.
The mechanism of celiac disease is complex, hence there are multiple ways of diagnosing this
autoimmune disease. Since

Organisational Structure Impacts on Other Areas of the...
1.1 Briefly define different types of organizational culture. How would you describe the culture at
Greescape? Under the different types of culture, what type of culture, do you think is evident in
Greenscape? Organizational Culture the idea became recognized with the notion of organizational
(corporate) climate in the 60s and 70s. Different researchers had developed several models and
methods to describe them. 4 general categories: * Compete (Market) Culture Goal orientated, highly

The norms and systems were adjusted to the people in the company. As the business evolves It had
become the owners habit, to prioritise her employees and treat them as family. Lita and all employees
were direct, honest and involved with each other, played softball together; therefore at Greenscape we
can identify Collaborate type of culture. 1.2 How does the relationship between structure and culture
impact the performance at Greenscape? Greenscape started as a sole trader and over 10 years grew to
a company of 20 employees. There was not much evidence of any appropriate structure. It was a
simple arrangement of people, divided in six to eight working crews. The owner was arranging work
schedules around personal lives of her employees. The only person who remained in full power of the
company became detached from the organization. There was no focus on the future of the company
and none of the bureaucracy methods had been implemented to ensure a smooth running business.
Lita Ong didn t recognize the need to change and adjust her business to its growing needs. Like not
noticing growing out of your own shoes! She needed to implement new departments, like HR, sales,
research. Select managers, supervisors and team leaders. Allocate tasks to created departments so she

Elderly Care Ministry Proposal
ELDERLY CARE MINISTRY PROPOSAL
We are grateful to our church elders for recognizing the need to minister to the elderly people who
reside in our community s assisted living facility, and for their desire to impact the residents, their
families and over time the community at large with the love of Jesus Christ. We appreciate the
confidence and support bestowed upon us in designing a ministry plan to care for both member and
non member elderly residents. It is our goal to establish a ministry that will be the hands and feet of
Christ, exemplifying His love and care for the aging in an encouraging positive manner through
ministry programs that are relevant and meaningful.
Working in conjunction with our local assisted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Many of the residents are unable to go outside for walks unassisted. A team of people have
volunteered to visit on a regular basis to walk outside with residents, and continue their walks and
friendships inside in inclement weather.
3. The strength trainer at our church has volunteered to teach and assist residents in their use of
weights and then lead a time of weight training on an ongoing basis as a part of this ministry. He will
also train other members to assist and lead in this area of ministry. Included with his strength training
he plans to talk about the strength found in Jesus Christ.
4. A dance instructor at our church has volunteered to do flexibility training along with teaching line
dancing, even with a wheel chair section, and then hold dances every other month.
Conclusion
The improvements in offerings related to the area of exercise fulfill the ministry purpose of helping
residents have a better quality of life, and the overall purpose of encouraging them through an
expression of God s love while pointing people to the hope found in Jesus Christ.

playing three chords on a guitar. I guess, this explains why Tay Tay was born to string and sing .
2. Know the background of her first name Taylor? One fine day, it was her mother Andrea who came
up with (and coined) the first name Taylor after the singer James Taylor. Why did she do that, you may
ask? Andrea the mother of Taylor Swift thought it to be a gender neutral name which would get her
daughter the success and recognition in life. This wish was granted and fulfilled by Almighty. As a
result of which, Taylor Swift was born to the world as a singer, as a global superstar.

The Virginia Military Institute was a higher education school in Virginia. It claimed to train the leaders
of the future, or citizen soldiers and impart to its students great discipline; however, it only enrolled
male students. In 1996, the United States government sued the state of Virginia and the Virginia
Military Institute for its male only policy as a violation of the Fourteenth amendment s Equal
Protection Clause. The District Court ruled in the school s favor. The Fourth Circuit demanded
Virginia to reverse this constitutional violation (Van Camp). In response to this complaint, Virginia
proposed a similar program for women: the Virginia Women s Institute for Leadership. The District
Court found that this plan satisfied the equal protection requirement, and the Fourth Circuit affirmed
that although these two institutions would differ in prestige (and the historical benefit), they would
still offer essentially similar educational opportunities. The United States then appealed to the
Supreme Court, and it raised the issue whether this new women s only academy satisfied the
Fourteenth Amendment s Equal Protection Clause. The Supreme court ruled, in a 7 to 1 decision, that
Virginia Military Institute s male only policy was unconstitutional. In order to not violate the Equal
Protection clause of the amendment, VMI must make its program available to women as well. VMI

Microsoft, Microsoft And Microsoft
Later, US Justice Department filed antitrust charges in 1998 against the software company, claiming
that Microsoft had taken over the internet browser competition and limited consumer choice. In view
of antitrust regulation in the US and EU, and increasing competition in the desktop software market,
Microsoft was determined to move beyond the PC software industry. By formally recognizing the
emerging business opportunities introduced by the new internet era ( Web 2.0 ), Microsoft began to
reinvent itself. It wanted to extend its software products into web based services for businesses and
consumers. It wanted to try new sectors such as media, television set top boxes, game consoles and
other broader technology services. Microsoft aimed to transform itself and wanted to set a standard for
accessing, communicating and doing business over the internet.
Microsoft had entered various new markets in which it has no propriety advantages with it s new
diversification strategy. Microsoft could not conquer all the markets alone as they would have to face
new challenges and many industries were against Microsoft getting into their industry as they feared
that Microsoft would monopolize the market. Hence, it improved its already existing as well as
created new partnerships in the newly targeted industry. Microsoft hence, needed to constantly
monitor the dynamic changes in the markets and adjust its strategies to capture opportunities in these
markets.

obtaining the evidence was more largely used did the practice become questionable.

The Characteristics Of Cultural Traits Of Cultures
Have you thought of how many varieties of cultures you have? All of your customs are unique and is
formed in your activities that you adore. Everyone has a culture but is manifested in many ways.
According to the text What is Cultural Identity Trumbull and Pacheco declares that you can imagine
culture as invisible webs composed of values, beliefs, ideas about appropriate behavior, and socially
constructed truths (springboard 2010). Traditions define our ethnic backgrounds with many
constructed acts to the meaning of our lives. Cultural Traits govern our direct perspectives. Two
cultural traits that will be described in this essay is language and foods. The first trait is language.
Language is communication either written or spoken and is part of our cultural identity. Language
shows who you are and how you express them. In the article An Indian Father s Plea it states
Windwolf has had trouble writing his name on a piece of paper, but he knows how to say it and many
other things in several different Indian languages (lake).Sometimes learning a new language could be
challenging but in the process you will grasp the idea of what that new language is. Many are exposed
to many languages, for example, I speak fluent English, but can t speak any other language. The
language that my family speaks is Filipino and Hawaiian. My father speaks Hawaiian. I d like to

The Governor Of Southern-Bough Summary
In the story, The Governor of Southern Bough, a man goes through a series of events that reflect the
views of Confucianism. Within the stories, the philosophy of Confucianism is being stated through out
the story by the relationships between the characters. The five basic human relationships can be seen
in these examples below.
1. The emperor and minister relationship can be seen on page 284 of the text with the conversation
Chunyu Fen has with the king. Now that he had to put up with groundless complaints and defamation,
he was very unhappy , this quote shows his obligation and respect that he has for the current king.
Even with all the hard work he did in Southern kingdom he did not let this inflate his ego. He remind

Older brother and younger brother relationships does not go into great details in the story, but it is
mentioned briefly on page 283. In the text it stated, In those years, Chunyu Fen had five sons and five
daughters. The sons were all given positions by means of the official hereditary benefits, the daughters
all got engaged with sons related to the royal family . This text shows the rank the family system has
from sons to daughters.
5. The friend and friend connections is the last relationship in Confucianism. This relationship is one
based on trust . The second paragraph on page 282 is Chunyu Fen given the king all the reason he trust
Zhou Bian and Tian Zihua. Chunyu Fen trust these individuals based on their skills and ho long the
group has been friend for ten years.
In the end of the story, when Chunyu Fen returns from the Southern Bough, this is more of a personal
change in his life. After his friends death Chunyu Fen did not drink and have sex (pp. 286). The
change in his life was a way for Chunyu Fen to find balance in his life from all the bad choices he
made in his younger years. So, this moment reflects Taoism more than

Forced Convection Heat Transfer
Forced Convection Heat Transfer
I. Introduction
This laboratory deals with forced convection, forced convection can be considered as a staple of heat
transfer. That is to say that forced convection can be found in almost any heat transfer problem, and
thus understanding its importance and how it affects a given problem is one of the more important
learning objectives/outcomes of heat transfer.
When dealing with forced convection the most important section, after understanding how convection
works, is the convection heat transfer coefficient. The heat transfer coefficient for convection is
denoted by (h) and is measured in w/m^2*K, this lab delves into the application of convection heat

Essay On Orphanage
Greatness found in an Orphanage My life before visiting an orphanage, I used to complain a single
trifle thing in my fate. I always had got or made sure to myself to be furnished everything that I
wanted to have among my list no matter what. If I couldn t have it, I was going upset and frustrated

making myself to miss a happiness and forget what is really important to me in my life. One day, I had
a chance to visit a nearby orphanage which was organized by my school. Firstly I had felt boring as
this trip would be an unexciting trip. Frankly, I had thought that the people there would think or act
same like me but they just don t have parents. After we had prepared and packed our donation items,
the bus started to drive. It took 1 hour to get reached and finally the orphanage appeared. It was placed
in a rural area. When I entered the orphanage, there were around sixty to seventy children standing
there looking at me as well as my friends marvelously, excitingly yet hopefully with their limpid eyes.

Increasing Cultural Competence in the Field of...
Raise your hand on the side that you hear the sound. Now open your mouth and stick out your tongue
for me. Close it and then make an ooo sound, like a ghost. This is what a brief clip of a speech and
language evaluation might sound like if someone were to be observing. But imagine that the test that
was just observed was over and now the clinician must speak to the parents; however, they can only
speak to one: the father, due to the strict Muslim culture that the family comes from. What should be
done since typically the most important person to inform is the mom and speaking to her is not
acceptable? (Cara). This is a dilemma that a Missouri State University Communication Sciences and
Disorders, Speech and Language pathology graduate student recently encountered. One in which she
was unprepared for because while Missouri State Communication Sciences and Disorders professors,
teach students how to be aware of different cultures, they don t necessarily teach students how to
handle them as they come. This lack of cultural competency poses a problem and in turn hinders a
speech language pathologist s ability to provide equal, appropriate and accessible services for groups
affected by speech and language impediments. Therefore, speech language pathologists must increase
their cultural competence in different cultures and be better prepared to provide services for patients
who may not be primarily English speakers or hail from a different cultural background that is not as

Keny A National Leader Of National Unity
Chapter Two
The Kenyan Cases in Perspective
2.1 Background and context
The 2007 general elections in Kenya was a watershed event in the history of the country.
Unprecedented violence broke out in many parts of the country immediately Mwai Kibaki of the Party
of National Unity (PNU) was declared the winner of the presidential poll and sworn in on 30th
December 2007. The violence escalated as the leader of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Raila
Odinga, immediately rejected the outcome of the poll. Such violence had never occurred in Kenya
before and it had devastating consequences. The violence, commonly referred to as Post Election
Violence (PEV), continued for the next 14 days after Kibaki was declared the winner and according to
the Commission of Inquiry into Post Election Violence report (CIPEV or WAKI report), it led to 1,133
deaths, rape of approximately 3,000 women, severe injuries to 3,561 persons, massive destruction of
both government and private property and displacement of over 300,000 people. Kenya had not
experienced violence of such gravity before as previous ethnic clashes documented by the Akiwumi
Commission which was commissioned in 1998 and the report released in 2002.
Although declaration of Kibaki as the duly elected president is what sparked the violence, Waki report
and other agencies examined deep seated issues which played a central role in causing the violence
and these include; first is the culture of impunity in the country and politicization of

Treblinka II And The Holocaust
Jewish inmates organized a resistance group in Treblinka in early 1943. When camp operations neared
completion, the prisoners feared they would be killed and the camp dismantled. During the late spring
and summer of 1943, the resistance leaders decided to revolt. On August 2, 1943, prisoners quietly
seized weapons from the camp armory, but were discovered before they could take over the camp.
Hundreds of prisoners stormed the main gate in an attempt to escape. Many were killed by machine
gun fire. More than 300 did escape though two thirds of those who escaped were eventually tracked
down and killed by German SS and police as well as military units. Acting under orders from Lublin,
German SS and police personnel supervised the surviving prisoners, who were forced to dismantle the
camp. After completion of this job, the German SS and police authorities shot the surviving prisoners.

the killing center was in operation, some of the arriving Jews were selected and transferred to

Dorothy L. Sayers states Wherever you find a great man, you will find a great mother or a great wife
standing behind him. Man is a societal construct that is structured and molded by maternal influences
and female insight. Typically one is a product of its environment, however Robertson Davies in Fifth
Business, deliberately uses female roles to display the impact that women have on the psychological
growth of a man. Davies chronologically traces the psyche of Dunstan Ramsay as he matures with the
guidance of significant female characters in his life. In Fifth Business, Robertson Davies uses the
characterization of Mrs. Ramsay, Diana ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, Diana Marfleet plays a significant role in the novel as Dunny s first meaningful and realistic
love, and a second maternal female in Dunny s life. Diana nursed Dunny back to life, after he was
nearly left to die in the war. Diana is characterized as Dunny s second mother, as she brings him back
to life, re teaches him the essentials of life, and renames him, Dunstan. Diana catalyzes Dunstan s
maturing process, as she initiated him into the world of manhood, sexually, and mentally as he began
to form his own decisions. Moreover, to complete his transformation she decides that he should
change his name to Dunstan, which mentally gives him the psychological ambition to complete and
realize his transformation into a new person in stating I liked the idea of a new name; it suggested new
freedom and new personality (Davies 90). Distinctly, being with Diana has made him think about
himself for once in life and made him realize that he loves her unconditionally, however, Dunstan
states she was too much of a mother to me. (Davies 81). This motherly attraction to Diana drives
Dunstan away from her, as he knows that their relationship could not have lasted.
Finally, throughout the novel, Mary Dempster has an impactful role in the growth of Dunstan Ramsay.
Mary teaches Dunny to disregard the moral rules of society, and to behave in a manner that is
unselfish and for the betterment of others. Dunny admires Mary

The Problem Of Drug Use
Drug use in America has been on the rise, drugs have been available for many years. The use of drugs
in communities not only affect the drug user but it also affects families across the United States. Drug
use has a way of making one dependent on a substance which can lead to many issues such as theft,
theft usually plays an important role in funding a drug users habit when they are not able to hold a job
or run out of money to sustain their unhealthy habit. Families are hurt by the user s ability to be
careless about their own situation and the situation of others that surround them, like children, parents
or friends. Kids often act out in ways that are unhealthy for their future when growing up in such

2006). In the past year, 23% of youth meet diagnostic criteria for a substance use disorder by age 20
(Johnston LD, O Malley PM, Bachman JG, Schulenberg JE. 2006). This is huge when considering that
substance abuse can start at a young age and continue throughout life possibly leading to further issues
more crime related. As Chief of Police addressing the use and rehabilitation of drug users who live a
life of crime is difficult. Under the current policies, we are giving individuals longer sentences for
drug related crime and not addressing the issue of addiction. So, after users commit a crime they are
sentenced to jail or prison and once released they go back to the same patterns and environments that
fed their addiction so once again they continue to use and these individuals become our habitual
offenders. This current system is setting individuals up for failure and not assisting with giving them
the tools and knowledge to make changes in their behavior. Langan, (1994) explained that a review of
recidivism in 15 states found that one quarter of individuals released return to prison within 3 years for
technical violations that include, among other things, testing positive for drug use (Langan. PA. Levin
DJ., 1994). This goes to show that drugs and drug use needs to be addressed with strict guidance

Starbucks Coffee And The Coffee Company
Enthusiast coffee drinker or not, people of all generations have heard of the popular franchise
Starbucks Coffee Company. Opened in 1971, Starbucks started off as a single store located in Seattle.
Today the well known coffee chain has spread their name almost all over the globe. With over 21,000
locations in 64 countries, Starbucks is by far the largest leading coffee company in the world.
Starbucks Coffee has different values compared to other coffee corporations that do not see the
importance in giving back to communities around them and treating their employees as equals, all
while striving to provide their customers with high quality products that are ethically sourced.
Corporations that donate some of their profit to charitable organizations inform people that the
company is willing to make a difference. Starbucks Coffee Company did just that, creating a separate
charitable organization called The Starbucks Foundation. This foundation was created to show
commitments Starbucks has for supporting global communities around the world by giving back to
them. Donations and funding received by this foundation are provided back to many nonprofit
organizations. In 2014, The Starbucks Foundation donated over $13.1 million to these organizations;

Aristotle s Theory Of Falling
My thesis is twofold: Aristotle s empirical arguments supporting the view that the earth is a sphere are
not convincing ; however, his hybrid argument combining a priori and empirical claims based on his
theory of falling succeeds in displacing Pre Socratic Cosmology and empirically grounding the
creation cosmology of Plato s Timaeus.
Aristotle inherited a tradition of cosmologies espoused by the Presocratics beginning with Thales, The
Earth floats on water, which is in some way the source of all things (Kirk B13) . The tradition
continues with Anaximenes, The earth is flat and rides on air (B13) and reaches a zenith with
Parmenides, ...there is a furthest limit, it is perfected, like the bulk of a ball well rounded on every
side, equally balanced in every direction from the center (Fr. 8 32 49). These three quotes identify two
themes that Aristotle would face while developing his cosmogony: how does the earth maintain its
place in the universe and what is its shape.
Aristotle also labored under the imposing shadow of his teacher Plato who developed his cosmology
in the Timaeus, ...he should fashion the world as a single whole... And he gave it a shape appropriate
to the kind of thing it was... Hence he gave it a round shape, the form of a sphere... (Timaeus 33a b).
Plato identifies the correct shape of the earth but he does not argue for this conclusion. Aristotle will
have to ground this idea in empirical science not myth.
The first step for Aristotle in On the Heavens is

Analysis Of My Dream
Dream
In my dream, I saw my stepmom talking to a group of men. This group of men looked like they were
part of a bike gang, and they all had either a knife or a gun on them. The group of men had scary
tattoos all over them, leather vests, and distressed jeans on with boots. The men took off and were
headed to an apartment complex in search of someone. They didn t knock on any doors or try to break
into a specific apartment; they were just walking around looking for someone outside the apartment
buildings. When they found who they were looking for, they started running and shooting towards that
person. It was my father.
At this point in my dream, I started screaming and crying, but I wasn t actually in my dream. It felt as

two characters that I had to focus on were on her dad and her stepmother. When I ask the dreamer to

along. She also added that when she was living with her, she felt like her stepmom did not love her
and that from the very beginning she was trying to separate her from her dad. Then, when I ask her to
tell me about her dad, she went on to tell me that her dad and her, have always had a close bond, and
that she feels until this day that she has to protect her dad from her stepmom, as she has done some
pretty bad stuff to her dad during and after their marriage. I then ask the dreamer to explain what her
stepmom has done to her dad in the past and now that they are divorce? She discloses that when her
dad was marry, her stepmom was not a very responsible caregiver because she used to leaved her dad
to take care of all the children and all of the responsibilities of the house, and when her stepmom
returned home there always seem to be a lot of conflicts between her and her dad as he was starting to
suspect that she was probably cheating on him, but he was never sure if that was true or not. She also

Indian and International Accounting Standards
Indian and International Accounting Standards Practices
Introduction:
Accounting Standards are used as one of the main compulsory regulatory mechanisms for preparation
of general purpose financial reports and subsequent audit of the same, in almost all countries of the
world. Accounting standards are concerned with the system of measurement and disclosure rules for
preparation and presentation of financials statements. They appear with a set of authoritative
statements of how particular types of transactions, events and other costs should be recognized and
reported in the financial statements. Accounting standards are devised to furnish useful information to

Do we need to harmonize the accounting standards of different bodies?
Different companies observe it from published annual accounts of various Indian companies that there
are divergent accounting practices for the same transaction. This in effect is defeating the
comparability of financial statements.
The reasons for the different accounting practices may be:
a) Too many alternative accounting treatments in the accounting standards;
b) Lack of harmony among government, standards setting body, and regulatory agencies;
* Adoption of different accounting standards causes difficulties in making relative evaluation of
performance of companies. This phenomenon hinders the valuation and consequently the decision
making process.
* To overcome these problems, harmonization of accounting standards has already been started.
Accounting harmonization is not an end by itself, but it is a means to an end. The ultimate objective of
harmonizing accounting practices among countries is to foster international comparability of accounts.
* But still the harmonization process has a long way to go. Many standard setting bodies and
regulators of different nations are ardent protectors of their local standards; they are in no mood to
allow their job being taken over by a foreign entity.
* Thus winning the consent of these bodies is vital for international accounting standards to don the
mantle of

Celebrity Culture and Influence on Drug Use
Over time the transformation of celebrity culture and branding has become a way that society interacts

their lifestyle is a world that is constantly shown in magazines, television, and social media. The state
of being well known attracts endorsers that then brand celebrities with an image to sell a certain along
with their merchandise. For years, we have seen the constant up rise and downfall of celebrities
generally due to drug substance abuse. Through the exploration of celebrities symbolic power,
symbolic capital, 4 levels of promotion, and real life examples I will demonstrate the impact (if any)
celebrities have had on themselves and young teens/adults drug use. Real life examples will include

on the various ways celebrity culture and drug usage go hand and hand to promote casual drug use as
a normalized life style. Aside from doing so, I will also list negative and positive outcomes that arise
from celebrity drug usage, addiction, and sadly sometimes death.

Fraud In Forgery
This essay will investigate the serious problem of forgery and a way of how this problem can be
controlled.
Counterfeit or forged money is an imitation of real money, which is produced without the legal
permission of the government or state. To use or produce counterfeit money is a form of fraud and
therefore highly punished. Forgery has been an issue for a very long time, as it is a problem, which is
nearly as old as money itself. Counterfeiting has a large impact on the economy and society, as it is
reducing the value of real money, increasing the prices due to the fact that more money is circulating
in the economy, and there s also a decrease in the acceptability of paper money. (3)
Forgery is a serious and widely spread problem, as alone in the UK (2009) there were 566,000
counterfeit notes revealed. 95% of these were 20 pound notes. The most common fraud is of one
pound coins, which there were in 2009 30 40 million in circulation of. That would be approximately
2.8% of the total one pound coins. (6) Some fraudsters, like for example McAnea, had or still have the
possibility to churn up to 2 million of forged banknotes a day. ... Show more content on

So the ethics of the fraudsters may not have changed, as those people continue to counterfeit
banknotes, however the ethics and morals of the society have changed. People have become more
aware due to UV detectors. For example Bank of Canada states that people should not be offended or
surprised if a cashier carefully examines their bills, as checking the if the notes large and small are
real, allows the cashiers to intercept counterfeits and keep them out of the till and out of the their
change. (16) This shows that people have not only become aware of this serious problem, but also
started to take responsibility and

The Civil Rights Movement vs. The Black Liberation...
On The Duty of Civil Disobedience, written by Henry David Thoreau, explains that civil disobedience
is the act of standing for your beliefs even though they are against the law. Thoreau goes on to say that
the government (because it is ruled by the majority) is not always right for everyone especially the
individual and the minority. Over the course of American history, there have been many different
groups formed for the purpose of civil disobedience. The two that I am going to focus on are the
activists of the Civil Rights Movement and the Black Panthers of the Black Liberation Movement.

The purpose if this movement was to gain equality for
Black Americans. The activists of the Civil Rights Movement were protesting for things like the
integration of schools and other public places, and equal rights under the law. Martin Luther King was
striving for his people to be seen and treated as equals to their white counterparts. The protest would
mostly consist of sit ins, marching, and boycotting. The activists of this movement preached non
violence and peaceful protest. For example, during many sit ins the police would get involved.
Usually this meant violence, but not by the civil rights activists who were taught not to retaliate. The
protestors would take brutal beatings and do nothing in return (Small). On the other hand is the Black
Liberation movement, which was headed by the Black Panthers. This movement leaned more towards
black separation in order to form their own equal communities. The Panthers believed that Black
Americans would never be equals in a white world and therefore they must form their own. Not only
did the Black Liberation Movement believe in separation, they also believed that aggression was
needed to reach this goal. In the official Black Panther Party Platform and Program the Second

Nonverbal Expectance Violation Theory
As I researched various theories, the Nonverbal Expectancy Violation Theory stood out to me the
most. Neuliep (2015) has described this theory as people holding expectancies about the
appropriateness of the nonverbal behaviors of others. The Nonverbal Expectancy Theory (NEV) was
formulated by Dr. Judee Burgoon. Sidelinger and Bolen (2015) states the basic tenet undergirding
NEV theory holds that individuals have expectations of how things will be and how people will
behave. Sidelinger and Bolen also states that expectancy refers to what an individual expects or
predicts will happen in an interaction. When we make an assumption, we are partaking in
expectancies. Burgoon (as cited by Sidelinger and Biolen, 2015) notes that what we expect in an
interaction is based on three factors, context, relationship, and communicator characteristics.
Sidelinger and Bolen (2015) believes that our expectancy can be determined by our environment. For
an example, the way I communicate at the playground with my children is different than how I
communicate at the grocery store. The expectancy of relationships is based on the connection we have
with the person with whom we are interacting with. Finally, Sidelinger and Bolen (2015), states that
communicator characteristics refer to the demographics (gender, age, race etc.) of the other in the
interaction and additional characteristics such as the other s communication style.
Additionally, the perception of how we view someone plays a role in how we expect them to react or
interact. If I am playing with a Poodle, I expect it to be fun, playful, and bubbly. If I am playing with a
Rottweiler, I expect it to be aggressive and assertive. While these are my expectancy of the dogs it
could turn out to be the opposite of my assumption. There are two types of expectancies. Predictive
and prescriptive. Offering a counterpoint to this perspective is nonverbal expectancy violations theory,
which posits that violating social norms and expectations may sometimes be a superior strategy to
conformity in achieving such communication outcomes as attraction, credibility, helping behavior, and
persuasion, Burgoon and Aho,; Burgoon, Coker, and Coker, Burgoon and Hale; Burgoon and Jones;

Any investor aspiration is to earn high return on his or her investment day in day out, but what is the

Why Is Hitler Responsible For The Fall Of The Weimar...
The most significant cause of the fall of the Weimar Government was the strength and organization of
the Nazi Party, which meant Hitler was ready to replace the Weimar Government. Hitler was an
influential speaker who varied his message to suit the listener. He promised to make Germany strong
again, and restore German pride. He spoke against the Treaty of Versailles, blamed the Jews for
Germany s problems and wanted to unify Germany, considering all German speakers to be part of
Germany. He promised order and stability and used the threat of communism to encourage Germans
to vote for the Nazis. Despite the issues around Hitler and his army, the Nazi party gained a lot of

Violent Video Games Do Not Cause Gun Violence

Advantages Of Lenovo
3.1 Recommended Future strategic direction to attain competitive advantage
3.1.1 Proposed strategy
It is important for a company to choose a relevant internationalization strategy in order to attain
competitive advantage. Basically, competitive advantage is a company s ability to perform in one or
more ways that competitors cannot or will not match (Philip Kotler, Gary Armstrong, 2007, p182)
As Lenovo has been successfully internationalizing into other country by using joint venture as their

cut down their cost in order to be able to sell product with lower price. Hence, the pressure of global
integration in cost reduction is identified there.
The advantages that global integration can give to Lenovo through cost leadership are that they can
help Lenovo to save costs and achieve global efficiencies. They can also improve the quality of
product and processes. High quality product promotes global brand recognition and gives rise to
customer preference and efficient international marketing programs. They create economies of scale,

If anything, the novel depicts those of lower standing to have better morality than those of higher
class. In the beginning of the book, he is a sense comfort for Pip in his rude and abusive wife s home.
When Joe says But I did mind you, Pip, he returned, with tender simplicity. When I offered to your
sister to keep company, and to be asked in church at such times as she was willing and ready to come
to the forge, I said to her, And bring the poor little child. God bless the poor little child, I said to your
sister, there s room for him at the forge! (Dickens 7). It is clearly illustrated how Joe was the only one
that showed Pip kindness as he was the only one to offer Pip a home after he was orphaned and
homeless. After Pip shows his embarrassment for his family clearly for everyone to see, Joe begins to
take tutoring sessions from Biddy so that he would not embarrass Pip anymore. Even though Pip
becomes more and more distant and crude, Joe stays loyal to him. When Joe goes out to visit Pip in
London he soon realizes the difference in social class between him and Joe and states Pip, dear old
chap, life is made of ever so many partings welded together, as I may say, one man s a blacksmith, and
one s man s a whitesmith, and one s a goldsmith, and one s a coppersmith. Divisions among such must
come, and be met as they come (Dickens 237 238). He is explaining to Pip that he now knows that the
are not in the same social sphere anymore and that there is no use to pretend other wise as the situation
was unavoidable as soon as Pip moved to London. He also expresses that his loving affection for Pip
is and will always remain inchanged. When Pip returns home from London after he realizes that he
does not actually want to become a gentleman he becomes sick and is brought back to health by Joe.

The Movie Out There and Advertising of Canadian Beer
In today s market of technology and visual stimulation it becomes more and more important for
advertising campaigns to stand out and be innovative, and it is this idea that drove one Canadian beer
company to do something that had never been done before. In light of waning interest, Kokanee,
owned by the Labatt Brewing Company, enlisted the help of Toronto based Grip advertising agency to
(with its entire yearly marketing budget) create something really big for there next campaign. Grip s
innovative response to this challenge was to do something completely new and create an ad in the
form of a full length feature film, which they would call: The Movie Out Here
The Movie Out There is a ninety minute Canadian indie film created as an entertaining alternative to
traditional advertising. The film follows three friends on their quest to save a business in the small
skiing town of Fernie, British Columbia by hosting a huge party. Along their journey they encounter
characters and sub plots that stem from Kokanee s long running advertising narrative of the Kokanee
Ranger. This narrative chronicles the attempts of the Ranger and the Kokanee Girls to safe guard the
Kokanee beer from the Sasquatch who continuously tries to steal it. These brand mascots are ever
present in the film, although slightly revamped. The Ranger becomes a duo of rangers consisting of
two young men: Glacier and Fresh who became the new mascots for Kokanee after the original ranger
was killed off. Their

Costa Rica Case Study Probability of Success Information discharged by the legislature of the United Kingdom uncovered that the nation encountered the steepest drop in carbon outflows in 2014, after over two decades. Economy of United Kingdom developed by 2.6 percent in spite of its ozone depleting substance emanations falling by 8.4 percent. Costa Rica, from January 1 to March 16 of 2015, produced the greater part of its energy without using coal or gas. As somewhere else, its capability to deliver the targets. Out of the four years, the most important concept I learned is that dancers do not use their words to express emotion, they use their body. The teachers at West Side Dance Studio always express how important it is to tell a story with our bodies. That is why we dance, to express emotion and tell a story to our audience when performing and even in class. Dancers at West Side Dance Studio use body language to accomplish their goal of expressing emotion and telling a story to the audience. My purpose for writing this research paper is to explain how dancers at West Side Dance Studio use body movements as language to express ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They will have an insight on how this discourse community functions and their use of lexis, use of specific terms. As the reader will see later on the essay, dancers at this community use french vocabulary. Ballet vocabulary is in French so when dancers in this community are in ballet class, they use french terminology. In addition to the interviews, I will use personal experience to show how West Side Dance Studio accomplishes its goals. Body language is important in the dance community, especially at West Side Dance Studio. By definition, body language is a means of communicating meaning nonverbally through gestures, posture, and movements. Some definitions also include facial expressions (Rholetter). Dancers use gestures, posture, movements, and facial expressions all the time to communicate with each other. When performing especially, a dancer communicates through gestures and facial expressions. West Side Dance Studio would often be asked to perform in carnivals. The studio s owner, which also happened to be one my teachers, thought the dancers should perform at this carnivals and use them as practice for our performance facial expressions. The more we danced at carnivals, the more chances we got to practice how we would communicate on stage when performing the dance recitals. In a personal point of view, the more I performed at carnivals, the more confident I got when performing on stage. I felt as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When a potential threat is detected, a trained army of cells will immediately reach the site and work towards achieving balance; this is called immunity. A particular protein found in certain grains has been causing commotion, and has recently been receiving attention from all over the world. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, the immune system of a person with CD would bring the gliadin complex past the defence barrier on the epithelial lining. The epithelial lining is usually in close contact to prevent pathogen from getting past the barrier; however in CD, the cells do not follow the normal mechanism. A macrophage cuts the gliadin and expresses it on the cell surface with MHC II molecules. The role of a macrophage is to maintain immunity by selectively sampling materials in the body by distinguishing self from foreign material via phagocytosis. MHC II molecules vary for different antigens, hence for gliadin, HLA DQ2 and HLA DQ8 molecules are expressed on the surface of the macrophage. The presence of these MHC II molecules attract another set of cell that will lead to inflammation of the epithelial cells, and the production of autoantibodies against gliadin. The inflammation will attract killer cells to the site, which will induce death on the epithelial cells. Due to the destruction of the epithelial lining, gaps will form, allowing more gliadin to pass through the barrier; this will produce a positive feedback as more autoimmune activity and the destruction of epithelial lining persist. The mechanism of celiac disease is complex, hence there are multiple ways of diagnosing this autoimmune disease. Since ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Race, Gender, And Ethnicity Shivani Amin Professor Trefethen Philosophy 5 4 November 2015 Race, Gender, and Ethnicity in American Law The Virginia Military Institute was a higher education school in Virginia. It claimed to train the leaders of the future, or citizen soldiers and impart to its students great discipline; however, it only enrolled male students. In 1996, the United States government sued the state of Virginia and the Virginia Military Institute for its male only policy as a violation of the Fourteenth amendment s Equal Protection Clause. The District Court ruled in the school s favor. The Fourth Circuit demanded Virginia to reverse this constitutional violation (Van Camp). In response to this complaint, Virginia proposed a similar program for women: the Virginia Women s Institute for Leadership. The District Court found that this plan satisfied the equal protection requirement, and the Fourth Circuit affirmed that although these two institutions would differ in prestige (and the historical benefit), they would still offer essentially similar educational opportunities. The United States then appealed to the Supreme Court, and it raised the issue whether this new women s only academy satisfied the Fourteenth Amendment s Equal Protection Clause. The Supreme court ruled, in a 7 to 1 decision, that Virginia Military Institute s male only policy was unconstitutional. In order to not violate the Equal Protection clause of the amendment, VMI must make its program available to women as well. VMI ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Aristotle s Theory Of Falling My thesis is twofold: Aristotle s empirical arguments supporting the view that the earth is a sphere are not convincing ; however, his hybrid argument combining a priori and empirical claims based on his theory of falling succeeds in displacing Pre Socratic Cosmology and empirically grounding the creation cosmology of Plato s Timaeus. Aristotle inherited a tradition of cosmologies espoused by the Presocratics beginning with Thales, The Earth floats on water, which is in some way the source of all things (Kirk B13) . The tradition continues with Anaximenes, The earth is flat and rides on air (B13) and reaches a zenith with Parmenides, ...there is a furthest limit, it is perfected, like the bulk of a ball well rounded on every side, equally balanced in every direction from the center (Fr. 8 32 49). These three quotes identify two themes that Aristotle would face while developing his cosmogony: how does the earth maintain its place in the universe and what is its shape. Aristotle also labored under the imposing shadow of his teacher Plato who developed his cosmology in the Timaeus, ...he should fashion the world as a single whole... And he gave it a shape appropriate to the kind of thing it was... Hence he gave it a round shape, the form of a sphere... (Timaeus 33a b). Plato identifies the correct shape of the earth but he does not argue for this conclusion. Aristotle will have to ground this idea in empirical science not myth. She also added that when she was living with her, she felt like her stepmom did not love her and that from the very beginning she was trying to separate her from her dad. Then, when I ask her to tell me about her dad, she went on to tell me that her dad and her, have always had a close bond, and that she feels until this day that she has to protect her dad from her stepmom, as she has done some pretty bad stuff to her dad during and after their marriage. Do we need to harmonize the accounting standards of different bodies? Different companies observe it from published annual accounts of various Indian companies that there are divergent accounting practices for the same transaction. This in effect is defeating the comparability of financial statements. This phenomenon hinders the valuation and consequently the decision making process. * To overcome these problems, harmonization of accounting standards has already been started. Accounting harmonization is not an end by itself, but it is a means to an end. The ultimate objective of harmonizing accounting practices among countries is to foster international comparability of accounts. * But still the harmonization process has a long way to go. Counterfeit or forged money is an imitation of real money, which is produced without the legal permission of the government or state. To use or produce counterfeit money is a form of fraud and therefore highly punished. Forgery has been an issue for a very long time, as it is a problem, which is nearly as old as money itself. Counterfeiting has a large impact on the economy and society, as it is reducing the value of real money, increasing the prices due to the fact that more money is circulating in the economy, and there s also a decrease in the acceptability of paper money. (3) Forgery is a serious and widely spread problem, as alone in the UK (2009) there were 566,000 counterfeit notes revealed. 95% of these were 20 pound notes. The most common fraud is of one pound coins, which there were in 2009 30 40 million in circulation of. That would be approximately 2.8% of the total one pound coins. On The Duty of Civil Disobedience, written by Henry David Thoreau, explains that civil disobedience is the act of standing for your beliefs even though they are against the law. Thoreau goes on to say that the government (because it is ruled by the majority) is not always right for everyone especially the individual and the minority. Over the course of American history, there have been many different groups formed for the purpose of civil disobedience. The activists of this movement preached non violence and peaceful protest. For example, during many sit ins the police would get involved. Usually this meant violence, but not by the civil rights activists who were taught not to retaliate. The protestors would take brutal beatings and do nothing in return (Small). • 33. Nonverbal Expectance Violation Theory As I researched various theories, the Nonverbal Expectancy Violation Theory stood out to me the most. Neuliep (2015) has described this theory as people holding expectancies about the appropriateness of the nonverbal behaviors of others. The Nonverbal Expectancy Theory (NEV) was formulated by Dr. Judee Burgoon. Sidelinger and Bolen (2015) states the basic tenet undergirding NEV theory holds that individuals have expectations of how things will be and how people will behave. Sidelinger and Bolen also states that expectancy refers to what an individual expects or predicts will happen in an interaction. When we make an assumption, we are partaking in expectancies. Burgoon (as cited by Sidelinger and Biolen, 2015) notes that what we expect in an interaction is based on three factors, context, relationship, and communicator characteristics. Sidelinger and Bolen (2015) believes that our expectancy can be determined by our environment. For an example, the way I communicate at the playground with my children is different than how I communicate at the grocery store. The expectancy of relationships is based on the connection we have with the person with whom we are interacting with. Finally, Sidelinger and Bolen (2015), states that communicator characteristics refer to the demographics (gender, age, race etc.) of the other in the interaction and additional characteristics such as the other s communication style. Additionally, the perception of how we view someone plays a role in how we expect them to react or interact. If I am playing with a Poodle, I expect it to be fun, playful, and bubbly. If I am playing with a Rottweiler, I expect it to be aggressive and assertive. While these are my expectancy of the dogs it could turn out to be the opposite of my assumption. There are two types of expectancies. Predictive and prescriptive. Offering a counterpoint to this perspective is nonverbal expectancy violations theory, which posits that violating social norms and expectations may sometimes be a superior strategy to conformity in achieving such communication outcomes as attraction, credibility, helping behavior, and persuasion, Burgoon and Aho,; Burgoon, Coker, and Coker, Burgoon and Hale; Burgoon and Jones; Burgoon, ...
