Abc Technology As A Human Resource Director
With projected growth within the next two years for ABC technology being 50% it s important to
bring in a strong human resource director who can handle the changes that will need to take place for
ABC technology to be successful. Change is inevitable and n eeds to be placed within trustworthy
hands. This is where I as a human resource director step in to bring the organizations goals to fruition.
Currently ABC technology is experiencing staffing, high turnover rates, and retention issues. These
issues are costing the company financially and taking ABC technology further from reaching its
organizational goals. As human resource director, it is my job to identify the causes of these issues as
well as develop a plan to combat these issues. With a plan in place the company can get back on track
to reaching its organi zational goals. The plan will involve designing policies to address issues as well
as prevent issues. In order to be effective, t hese policies need to be clearly communicated to ensure
alignment of e very employee towards the same goal (Conation, 2014) . As the human resources
director I act as a strategic partner with the company by overseeing many facets of the organization
and by essentially bei ng the oil that keeps the gears of the organization sl ick and moving smoothly.
The human resource director always has the company s best interest in mind. This includes all the
employees as well, because without happy employees the company will not thrive. Human

Education in Saudi Arabia Essay
Education remains to be the priority of all nations around the globe. Most countries devote vast
resources to guarantee equal education opportunities to all their students. Most education systems are
developed to meet the economic and social demands of the country, both locally and globally. As the
world s 8th highest education spender, Saudi Arabia initiates an overhaul on the education system. It is
the largest country in the Middle East. The Saudi Arabian education has gone through an astounding
transformation. Initially, education was only available to few people who were children of the wealthy
families. However, the transformation of the Saudi Education is now offering education to all children
regardless of their social status. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After successfully completing the secondary education, and passing the official tests, students are
awarded a Secondary Diploma certificate in their respective schools. The Secondary Diploma is
offered to all schools, private, public and even international. After a student gets a Secondary
Diploma, they are now free to enroll for higher education in Universities (Ministry of Education,
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). Most of them enroll in universities in their home country, while other
enroll in other countries. In Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Education developed a ten year plan that set
goals for Saudi children. The ten year plan ensures that Saudi children acquire the best and quality
education. In addition, this ten year plan ensures that, the education system accommodates all
children, including those with special needs. The Saudi Ministry of Education ensures that, all
children regardless their gender, access educational facilities, in addition to advancing their education
(Ministry of Education, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). Students are prepared culturally and academically

Second And Third Wave Feminism
Throughout the twentieth century feminist movements changed the first world dramatically, but during
the second half the twentieth century the views and goals of what women wanted in life changed from
simply asking for fair pay and equal rights to jobs to wanting their lifestyle changed. The impact of the
second and third wave of feminists held a positive sphere around the fact that women had a bigger
voice in politics and economics, but socially feminism was almost purely negative. Feminist groups,
mostly in the late second wave and the entirety of the third wave, consisted almost entirely of
misandrists.

politics as well as the level of education women were receiving. ... Show more content on

Male suicide rate, bias towards men in family courts, domestic violence against men, men who are
victims of rape and depression in men are all rising percentages because of second and third wave
feminism. Second wave feminism and the radical groups surrounding it such as the Women s
Liberation Group have given women a voice, but the late second and the entirety of the third wave
have created a social imbalance between the genders resulting in a cataclysmic rise in negative male
statistics.
Overall the feminist movements of the second and third wave have made a good positive difference
for both women and the global society as whole, however the radical groups of the second wave and
the third wave overall have created a negative sphere around the mistreatment of the genders, and as a
result men have become the more discriminated gender. The changes in politics and the new wave of
political feminism which tackles the idea of equality between men and women is where the feminist
movement stride towards and stops the silence of male

Accounting Standards Board
To address the increasing challenges of legislating those governs our society today, countries all over
the world have begun to outsource rulemaking to bodies consisting of people familiar with the subject.
For that reason, policymakers rely on private entities to establish financial accounting and reporting
standards (Donald Kieso, 2003, Intermediate Accounting). The two most influential standard setters
are the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the International Accounting Standards
Board (IASB).

After their joint meeting in September 2002, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and
the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) issued the Norwalk Agreement, acknowledging
their commitment to development compatible accounting standards that could be used for both
domestic and cross border financial reporting.
At that meeting, the FASB and the IASB agreed to make their existing financial reporting standards
compatible and to ensure that once achieved, compatibility is maintained.
The FASB IASB convergence efforts involve two projects: the short term project that is intended to
remove individual differences between International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and US
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Examples of short term convergence efforts include
accounting for non monetary exchanges and income taxes. The second type of convergence project
refers to long term projects like revenue recognition.
In April and October 2005, the FASB and the IASB reaffirmed their commitment to the convergence
of US generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP) and International Financial Reporting
Standards (IFRSs) and agreed upon the need for the removal of the reconciliation requirement for non
US companies that use IFRSs and are registered in the United States.
In February 2006 the two boards issued a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) based on three

Globalization And Its Effect On Society
Globalization and the use of new technologies and how it strengthens or weakens global inequalities
Globalization is a very important force in the new world and it continues to impact the lives of
individuals as well as groups world over. The role and affect of globalization has broadened over time.
It has resulted in the lessening of trade barriers, integration of the economy of the world, increase in
opportunities for groups and individuals alike and an increase in the economic well being and income
levels of individuals and groups. However, critics of economic globalization argue that it has led to an
increase in the unequal distribution of income. They say that although, groups have seen growths in
their income levels, there are groups which are facing the adverse affects of globalization. It has
driven some individuals much deeper into poverty (Ekmekcioglu). The developed countries and big
multi national corporations reap the most benefits of globalization as it opens up more opportunities
for them as well as increases the markets they operate in. It is, however, difficult for third world
countries to reach their full potential because they are not able to avail the opportunities presented
through globalization. James K. Galbraith in his article defines globalization as a perfect crime. He
says that in poorer countries globalization is a synonym for imperialism and colonialism (Galbraith).
Researchers still have not been able to answer the question whether

Juvenile Crime Statistics

Juvenile Arrests 2008
Data is collected by law enforcement agencies within the United States and submitted to the Federal
Bureau of Investigations for tracking purposes. These numbers are used by analysts at the FBI to
indicate trends in crime and to possibly develop alternative policing methods. A statistician can
manipulate numbers to show what they feel is relevant, but aside from just being numbers in a
spreadsheet it allows police forces to determine the trends within their respective communities.
According to Puzzanchera (2009) In 2008, law enforcement agencies in the United States made an
estimated 2.11 million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As this figure shows that simple assault arrests are decreasing, it is still far higher than it should be.
Implications for Females and Minorities Using the data provided by Puzzanchera (2009), it is obvious
that female offenders are becoming more brazen in their ways. Whereas crime has been predominantly
a male dominated venue, females are staking a claim to their rights to enter the world of crime. This
change in roles is also noted in the adult arrest reports; female arrests have shown a slower decrease
than male arrests. Minorities are also affected by the statistics of the Uniform Crime Report. When
looking at minority arrests, the composition of the community really affects the numbers used. Overall
in the United States the racial compositions for juveniles according to Puzzanchera (2009) showed
that 78% of juveniles were white, 16% were black, 5% Asian, and only 1% Native American. These
figures can be severely misleading in that Hispanic juveniles are classified as white for these studies.
However, using these numbers and the reporting by agencies, violent crimes committed in 2008 were
done by 47% white youth, 52% black youth and a mere 1% were committed by Asian youth, leaving
the last 1% to have been committed by native American youth. As a result, black youth are more likely
to commit violent crimes and be entered into the juvenile justice system.

Urban Regeneration And Urban Development
INTRODUCTION:
This dissertation is influenced by the ongoing urban regeneration and urban developments in many of
the major cities in India, especially in city of Pune, and its adverse effects on the city townscapes and
place identities. City of Pune has a rich education legacy and has been often referred as the Oxford of
the East , a legacy which came into prominence on the establishment of the University of Pune in the
year 1949 (Hindustan Times, 2012). The city truly justified itself as the cultural capital of Maharashtra
with its strong connections with the work of arts, music, theater and literature (Hindustan Times,
2012). Pune, being an educational hub of India by having one of the India s oldest University
(Maharashtra Tourism, 2013), has now been transformed into a major manufacture and production hub
as well as has improved in educational sectors like research institutes for information technology,
management, architecture and engineering that attract students and professionals internationally
(SCHEMCON, 2015).
With the inception of international influences and urban planning techniques, it has been realized that
the old heritage and culture, the core Pune identity is slowly been taking a blow. The urbanization has
been transforming the urban townscapes of Pune into completely new dimensions thus hampering the
glorious heritage and cultural identity for which the city of Pune is known for. The following research
will highlight the importance of preserving and

within my agency. For my field practice assignment, I am working in conjunction with my supervisor
(Assistant Director) and the Director of the program on implementing changes to the provider s
contract. There are many policies and procedures that are being violated on the provider s end of the
contract that are in turn causing violations with the Department of Health and A.C.D. (Agency for

Child care providers must re apply for their license every two years and then once they submit their
new license to the network, they then sign a new contract. What could cause the contract from not
being revised would be its disapproval from the Vice President of the child care division. In addition,
if the provider s contract were to stay the same there would be no progression or drive from the
providers to adhere to the guidelines that have changed within the Department of Health and the Child
Care Network. The Critical Actors of the change would be the Vice President, the Director and the
Assistant Director. The driving force of the Vice President would be that she is very much for a
change in the providers behavior and professional attitudes toward the parents and the caseworkers.
She would also like to establish a more business like attitude with the caseworkers, other network
staff, and the parents. Lastly, she is looking for the providers to learn more educational techniques
from the trainings and workshops that are offered for them through the network. The restraining forces
would be that she would not approve the contact because its trying to implement too much change at
one time. Another restraining factor would be that the providers would contact the UFT union (United
Federation of Teachers) because of the extra demands that are being asked of them without extra
monetary compensation. A final restraining force of why she wouldn t approve

Queen Elizabeth I turned the declining country of England, into one of the most powerful and

Boleyn on September 7 1533. Taught by famous scholars in her youth, she excelled at her studies.
From an early age, she was seen to be enormously gifted. She had an especial flair for languages. By
adulthood, she was capable of speaking 5 different languages. In the January of 1547, King Henry

In the half century during which she ruled, her kingdom became known for its pageantry and glamour.
When Elizabeth Tudor had succeeded the throne, religious strife, a huge government debt, and failures
in war, had caused England to be considered a poor credit risk on the Continent. Though popular and
much admired, Elizabeth did not inherit a stable and prosperous country, thus the quest for stability
and prosperity became the guiding force of her reign. She constantly avoided foreign entanglements
and religious extremism. The motto Elizabeth Semper Eadem Latin, meaning Always the same was
highly appropriate. Queen Elizabeth I left behind an extraordinary image of a dazzling era of
excitement and achievement, nearly superhuman heroes and daring deeds, with the Queen, larger than
life, radiating inspiration at the center of it all. Elizabeth s character was a mystery to most people at
the time she inherited the throne. She had learned to keep her own council, control her emotions, and
always behaved cautiously, thus being able to disprove all rumors about her. Always dignified and
stately, she could be vain, willful, dictatorial, temperamental, and imperious. She had courage, both in
her decisions, and in the face of danger. Possessing an innate of humanity, she was not normally cruel,
unlike most rulers of her day. Most regarded her to be unusually tolerant in that age of religious
conflict. She saw herself as one who was always honest and honorable, who

The Convention Center Is The Host Of The Independent Party...
The Charlotte Convention center is proud to be the host of the Independent party convention;
throughout the convention we will be the host to the various activities that will enhance the party s
incentives. During political conventions there are a lot of activities that happen throughout the course
of these events. The event planning committee is preparing for a wide range of events such as
speeches, nomination process, seminars, the stating of the party platform, and parades. While all these
activities have a certain amount of risk involved, parades and the demonstrations that occur during a
political convention provide a greater amount of risk. As a result, the following risk management plan
will address the risk associated with parades and demonstrations, and offer solution that will reduce
the risks associated with these events. A parade is a public celebration of a special day or event that
usually includes many people and groups moving down a street by marching or riding in cars or on
special vehicles (called floats) (Simple Definition of Parade, 2015, para.1). When planning a parade
there is plenty of risks that can happen, which can cause harm to the attendees. As a result, strict
guidelines on the manner the parade will happen will be developed and communicated with all the
stakeholders of the parade. The first guideline that will be developed to mitigate the risk of the parade
is the creation of a fire safety parade code. The fire marshal will be a key

The Aeneid A Kind Of Propaganda, Cicero s Second Philippic
Relying on hostile evidence to recreate Marcus Antonius life from his youth until the Battle of Actium
entrains several issues. This essay will discuss Virgil s Latin epic The Aeneid , a kind of propaganda,
Cicero s Second Philippic a piece written with personal and political intentions in mind, and Plutarch s
Rome in Crisis regarding Antony. One must treat these sources with caution, not least because of the
inherent bias present in their writing. It is necessary to take into account the context, type of source
and how the author has shaped material for their own personal or political gain. Limitations.
Virgil shapes material for his own literary and historical purposes, therefore bias is present. The
Aeneid is in part acknowledges Augustus as being key to the Golden Age after Caesar s assassination
(2).The 19 year old grand nephew/adopted son was Caesar s heir and eventually he defeated Cleo and
Antony at Actium in 31 bc (3). In this Euphoria Virgil took to writing patriotic poems such as The
Aeneid (4). After a century of civil war, Augustus victory promises a return of order, prosperity and
peace to Rome.
Augustus ignored Virgil s instruction to burn The Aeneid after his death in 19 BC. This indicates that
Virgil wrote in favour of his patron, ruler of Rome and is hostile towards Antony due to this (5).
Therefore, Augustus is a bringer of peace , consequently Mark Antony is associated with the violence
of civil war.

Essay about Sound Localization and Hearing Protection Devices
Introduction A hearing protection device (HPD) is often used as a protective measure in a workplace
environment when the sound levels of that environment cannot be decreased and such levels pose a
threat to the hearing of workers. An HPD is a safety device worn by individual s to protect his or her
hearing from the harmful effects of sound (Berger, 2003). A variety of occupational environments are
known to produce high levels of noise, including factories and military operations. Individuals
employed in these professions may be required to wear HPDs to reduce the risk of noise induced
hearing loss. However, certain situations in these work environments require the listener to also be
able to hear low level sounds for safety reasons. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The three main styles of HPDs are earplugs, earmuffs, and semi aural devices. Special protectors, such
as level dependent hearing protectors, are less commonly used but also have an effect on sound
localization. Earplugs are placed into the ear canal in order to block the entrance of sound by forming
a hermetic seal. Earplugs are better suited for longer use for those individuals who are exposed to
noise throughout their workday, and provide a significant amount of attenuation. However, the
effectiveness of the earplugs depends on proper insertion, and requires training employees on how to
correctly place them in the canal. The level of attenuation can vary depending on how well the earplug
is fit, as well as the motivation of the employee to wear them consistently (Berger, 2003). Earmuffs,
on the other hand, cover the entire outer ear and provide an air tight seal against the head in order to
block the entrance of sound. Earmuffs are preferred for individuals who are not exposed to a
consistent level of noise throughout the day. Rather, they are better suited for shorter periods of high
level noise during the workday. Due to the size and location on the head, they also may not be
beneficial for employees that must work in smaller, more confined spaces. However, the level of
attenuation is more consistent than earplugs, as the employees do not require extensive training on the
use of earmuffs as they are generally one sized devices (Berger, 2003).

Piaget in the Toddler Classroom
There are a lot of things to consider when designing the layout of a toddler classroom. It is very
important to create an environment that is geared toward the proper developmental stage in order for
young children to get the most out their classroom. Children in the preoperational stage (2 yrs. 7 yrs.)
need a wide variety of hands on activities to promote development. Using Jean Piaget s Theory of
Cognitive development to design a classroom will give toddlers a wide range of activities to gain a
strong foundation for learning.

Scientific Principles Of The Work Of Wilhelm Wundt Essay
This essay will look at scientific principles used today to perform psychological research and find
similarities and differences of that research style in the work of Wilhelm Wundt; this will be done
through looking at his approach to psychology, his lab and the impact he had on psychology in
general. The essay will then consider the Gestaltists approach to psychology by looking at their main
beliefs, experiments and their legacy and link it to the scientific principles. Finally, it will summarize
the influence both Wundt and the Gestaltists had on establishing psychology as a science.
Scientific principles describe the steps of psychological research, how the understanding of behaviour
is assessed, how variables are defined and data can be received.
The psychological research consists of seven steps as can be seen in figure 1.
Figure 1 (Passer, Smith, Holt, 2010, pp. 40 41)
The scientific principles also consist out of how approaches to understanding behaviour are made:
through prediction, control and theory building as well as how variables are defined and data to
measure behaviour can be received.
The first academic to look at is Wilhelm Wundt by applying the scientific principles to his work and
his contribution to establish psychology as a science. Wilhelm Wundt (1832 1920) was a German
physician who became interested in applying the physiological methods to psychological phenomena
and wanted to model the study of the mind after the natural sciences. (Passer et

Food Is A Way Of Life
Food has essentially become a way of life in our world. People identify by what kind of food they
grew up eating. People from the south feel that barbecue food is a way of life, while people in Italy
can t live without pasta. We can learn a lot about where are ancestors are from when we look at what
kind of food we eat, but we can also see the change that the culture we live in has put upon us. Since
America is this beautiful melting pot of many different cultures we can see the blended in all of us, but
still know our heritage form the secret family recipes we have learned from our parents, and
grandparents. Food in essence is a part of our culture that shows us where we our ancestors are from,
where we currently live, where we grew up, what religion we partake in, and just who we are as
people. When my Grandparents immigrated to America from Italy, they held on tightly to their Italian
culture. One of the things they will not let go of is the prestigious Italian food they grew up having.
They wanted to pass on their love of Italian dishes onto their children, who would then pass it down to
their grandchildren. Make no mistake about it they passed down their extreme love of Italian food
down to us, but due to the fact that we grew up in the heart of Texas our food preferences are a little
different. My brother and I not only love the sweet Italian food we grew up having at grandma s house
growing up, we also love us some Tex Mex food, good barbecue, and Cajun food. This

Greensboro Sit Ins And The Civil Rights Movement
Do you feel that there is equality in North Carolina? If you say yes, this is partially due to the
Greensboro Sit Ins and the Civil Rights Movement. Many in North Carolina were impacted by the
audacity of what started as some students and the black community members who protested for
equality of races even right here in North Carolina, where we call home. Despite advances in the fight
for racial equality (including the landmark 1954 Supreme Court verdict in Brown v. Board of
Education and the Montgomery Bus Boycott), segregation was still the norm across the southern
United States in 1960. Depending on whose perspective is looked at, some may still feel segregation is
the norm in some cases. These racial segregations have been an issue longer than one can imagine, but
from these certain events, life has improved and has become a lot easier for everyone in that case. We

Christianity and Liberalism by Gresham Machen-Machen Essay
Biography of Gresham Machen
Machen was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1881. In 1898, Machen enrolled at Johns Hopkins
University and became a brilliant scholar. In addition, Machen obtained theological studies in
Germany in 1905 where he being thrown into confusion of his own faith because of the influence of
the liberalism. After returning from Europe, In 1906, Machen join as an instructor in New Testament
at Princeton Seminary.
Machen s work in the 1920s was divided between his time at Princeton Seminary and his political
work with Presbyterians. In addition to Christianity and Liberalism, Machen works are such as The
Origin of Paul s Religion, What is Faith, New testament Greek for Beginners, The Virgin Birth of
Christ, The Christian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The core of Machen s argument was that liberalism is totally different from Christianity, for the
foundation is different. (PAGE 67)
Doctrine
The foundation of Christianity is doctrine. Machen described doctrine as the setting forth of the event
with the meaning of the event. (PAGE 25) Christianity is based on the truth of the Gospel of the life,
death, and resurrection of Christ as the only sacrifice for sin. On the other hand, liberalism does not
have doctrine and the foundation is on the individual experience and feelings. Liberalism is
independent from standard or historical foundation of Christianity. Thus, Christianity and liberalism
are totally different kinds of religions.
Machen stated that the New Testament books are regarded by all serious historians as genuine
products of the first Christian generation. (PAGE 18) The statement merely could be false without
Machen s willingness to terminate as un serious all historians who ignore the validity and authority of
the New Testament. The argument of the New Testament authenticity is still conflicted between in
liberalism and typical denominations. A weakness in Machen s argument on Doctrine was while
Machen indicates that the New testament could be understood through the perspective of the primitive
Jerusalem church (PAGE 22), no supportive agreement was found what the primitive church looked

Anne Bradstreet s Poetry In The 19th Century
Poets from the nineteenth century vary widely in subject, tone, and form. To remark that poets prior to
1865 are all the same is short sighted, as it denies the recurring themes and unique individual styles of
the poets. Readers can differentiate poets such as Anne Bradstreet, Phillis Wheatley, Edgar Allan Poe,
Walt Whitman, and Emily Dickinson through the poetic devices that they use and the recurring themes
or interests they have.
To begin, poets in the nineteenth century differ in whether they were intended to be published and if
they were accompanied with an authenticating document. An example of a poet whose work is mostly
based on personal experiences and feelings is Anne Bradstreet. Bradstreet s poems tend to focus on
her relationship with her husband ( A Letter to her Husband ), her children ( Before the Birth of One of
her Children ), and her faith ( Here Follows Some Verses upon the Burning of Our House ). The
recurring themes that Bradstreet explores in her poetry center on ... Show more content on

Unlike Bradstreet, Wheatley s poems are a reflection on the Great Awakening revival that use colorful,
emotional language to emphasize the personal religious commitment as a sensory experience.
Wheatley s poetic voice is heavily inspired by sermons, which is most noticeable in her poem, To the
University of Cambridge.
Edgar Allen Poe s poetry is wildly different to both Wheatley s and Bradstreet s poetry. Poe s poems
have recurring elements of the Gothic and the supernatural. The Gothic and supernatural are
prominent in both the setting and the tone of Poe s poems. Poe tends to use repetition to signal the
importance of the line or word, such as nevermore, to create the unity of effect. The repetition of
nevermore also alludes to the speaker being haunted over the loss of his beloved Lenore and
demonstrates the decay of the speaker s sanity, which is elevated by the speaker s grief and

The Role Of Choice In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
The Threat and Prestige of Choice Mankind has assumed the role of Godlike power that was once left
in the hand of deities. As a soldier walks onto a battlefield the power that he holds is in the barrel of
the gun. He makes the decisions whether to pull the trigger or not. He makes his way towards the
enemy s base and sees a target. He fires. The power that that soldier had was once only associated
with God. That God has the ability to bring people into this Earth as well as to take people from it.
With mankind s divine powers comes great responsibility. This is what John Steinbeck is emphasizing
in his 1962 Nobel Prize speech. He believes that because human s have taken Godlike power, we must
seek responsibility for our actions. He ties this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This decision that George has to make is not one he wants to do, but one he has to do. While in hiding
George contemplates, And George raised the gun and steadied it, and he brought the muzzle of it close
to the back of Lennie s head. The hand shook violently, but his face set and his hand steadied. He
pulled the trigger (Steinbeck 106). This quote relates to Steinbeck s nobel speech because they both
relate to the idea that choice is a pain and a virtue. As Steinbeck states in his speech, The danger and
glory and the choice rest finally in man. The test of his perfectibility is at hand. Having taken Godlike
powers, we must seek in ourselves for the responsibility and the wisdom we once prayed for some
deity might have (John Steinbeck Banquet Speech). This quote from Steinbeck s speech and the quote
from Of Mice and Men are linked through the idea that choice is both a pain and a virtue, and that
with choice comes responsibility and wisdom. George s decision to shoot Lennie is a test of
perfectibility in George s morals if killing Lennie is the right or wrong thing. George is taking Godlike
powers as he contemplates whether to take George from this world.

My Thoughts On My Parent Fears
There is a risk, big or small, when you do something spontaneous. I am no stranger to danger or
outrageous circumstances, unfortunately most of these events happened in my home. I ve been
sheltered all my life as if I was a bird in a caged not allowed to venture out in the world. My parent
fears for my well being and meant well; however, they never expressed it in a healthy way. They ruled
with an iron fist and watched me around the clock. My mom dictated most of my weekdays. For
example: if I have to wait for her on campus, if I could stay for a make up test, or on good rare days if

Comparing The Epics And The Epic Heroes
Comparison of the Epics In every epic, there are common themes that present themselves throughout
the story, such as war. The epics Gilgamesh, Beowulf, and The Mahabharata, share similar
characteristics in terms of their strength, values, and journeys. In each of the epics that will be
discussed, there is the occurrence of fighting for honor and to have a legacy. The epic heroes follow
many of the guidelines that Joseph Campbell has written in his book Hero with a Thousand Faces.
Joseph Campbell believed that the stages of a hero were to have a call to adventure, he is introduced in
his ordinary world, he is hesitant and may not want to fulfill his mission, the person is encouraged by
someone old and wise, the person is committed to their journey, there are tests and people to help the
hero, the hero faces his last, challenging quest, he potentially faces death, the hero survives his
journey and is rewarded in some way, he has a journey back to his home and could face more danger,
the hero is transformed by his experience, and the hero brings back treasures. Gilgamesh shows the
characteristics of hero according to Joseph Campbell because he faces many challenging quests in
particular his most dangerous is going to the king and queen of (idk) (where) to find the secret of
immortality, Gilgamesh survives his journey back from (where), Gilgamesh is transformed because he
becomes less shellfish, on the journey home he could have possibly been in danger because of the

Diary of a Napoleonic Foot Soldier
During the years 1800 to 1815 Napoleon Bonaparte was preparing a large army. His goal was to
spread the idea of the French Revolution and ultimately expanded France s bountiful pride and glory.
The way this was going to happen, according to Napoleon, was through expanding French territory. In
order to do this he would need a large army, so that involved enlisting men by conscription. The army
was filled with French men, as well as men from Germany and other surrounding areas. The Diary of
a Napoleonic Foot Soldier looks first hand look at the life of an average soldier at the time, Jakob
Walter. He was a nineteen year old german boy enlisted by conscription and assigned to regiment

He did supply the men with clothing, but not the kind of clothing they needed for the Russian winter,
because Napoleon was not expecting for the expansion to take as much time as it did. The men were
not always lacking in food, clothes, and shelter, in some places they were treated well and given
plenty of alcohol and food to keep them occupied. Some areas the men passed through they would
exploit the common people to get ahold of the necessities they needed. From the beginning Walter was
relentless in getting the things that he knew he would need. When he had to requisition food from a
village he found a Jewish man, he had to chase after him and finally caught up to him in an attic of a
house in which there were many women and children. In Walter s own words he said, I took him,
dragged him down the two flights of stairs, and had to hold him by the coat and kick him forward for
two hours, threatening him if he should fail to lead me the right village (pg. 6). This was just one
example of how poorly the common people were treated and this continued throughout every
campaign, but was soon returned to them when they entered into Russia. The soldiers were faced with

Two Major Control Theories
Travis Hirschi developed two major control theories which are influential in criminology today
(Lecture). Hirschi first theory was Social Bond Theory which he explained in his paper Causes in
Delinquency, published in 1969 (Lecture). Hirschi criticized his theory and moved the locus of control
from the person s position in society to what internally drove the person not to commit crime (Cullen
Text, Part VI). In 1990, Hirschi discounted Social Bond Theory and teamed up with Michael
Gottfredson in the paper a General Theory of Crime where they explained their new theory, Self
Control Theory (Lecture). Though these theories are inherently different they both contributed greatly
to the control theory and presented an interesting new alternative ... Show more content on

Hirschi stated there were four social bonds that tied the person to conventional ways: attachment,
commitment, involvement and belief (Cullen Text, Part VI). Attachment was the person s emotional
attachment to others (Cullen Text, Part VI). A person may refrain from a criminal act depending on
what he perceives others will think of him after the event. Commitment is the person s investment into
their future (Cullen Text, Part18). If they are invested into their future, they may not jeopardize it by
committing a crime. Involvement is the person s participation in life events and social activities
(Cullen Text, Part18). The person may be too busy to commit a crime. Belief is the person s view of
legitimacy of social rules and laws (Cullen Text, Part18). If that person believes in the rules they are
less likely to break them. If these bonds are weak or broken then a person is more likely going to
commit a crime (Cullen Text, Part18).
Hirschi criticized his first theory and saw there were some inherent errors which he readdressed in is
second theory, Self Control Theory (Lecture). Hirschi s major problem was he believed the locus of
control was not societies bonds to the individual but the internal mechanism of self control (Cullen
Text, Part VI). Hirschi hoped his new theory, Self Control Theory, would

If too much inventory builds up, cash is tied up in goods that cannot be sold this is not good news for
the company. Management might have to slash prices, to move out this inventory quickly, possibly
selling its product at a loss. If AR is handled poorly, it means that the company is having difficulty
collecting payment from customers. This is because AR is essentially a loan to the customer, so the
company loses out whenever customers delay payment. The longer a company has to wait to be paid,
the longer that money is unavailable for investment elsewhere. On the other hand, the company
benefits by slowing down payment of AP to its suppliers, because that allows it to make use of the

Raising Minimum Wage Research Paper
Living on minimum wage with companies that pay with the bare minimum has never been a walk in
the park for anyone. Whether you are an individual that lives by yourself or a parent that has children
to take care of, minimum wage doesn t provide enough to live a comfortable life. Many people say
that if the minimum wage is raised, there will be negative repercussions. However, there is evidence
that shows the complete opposite. This evidence would include how living conditions would improve,
happier employees result in better work output, and there would be an increase in sales due to people
being able to afford more. Raising the minimum wage to match rates of inflation would benefit and

Employees don t seem as miserable to go to their minimum wage jobs when they feel like they re
being paid fairly for the work they are contributing to. More money for the employees takes stress off
their backs because living on minimum wages makes things tight. Raising it will give these employees
a bit of wiggle room. Michael Ungar wrote an article on the psychology of what could happen if the
minimum wage was raised. In his article, he talks about how family life would be improved because
parents will be less stressed. Workers of companies will be less stressed about making ends meet when
they have extra money to use as they please. An example of a company that took it into their own
hands to show their employees that their work needed to be valued more is Costco. Costco pays their
starting hourly employees $11.50 and an average of $20 or more. Their employees are also given
health benefits, which makes people even happier when they know they re covered when they get

Modern Day Knowledge Of Scurvy And Treatment
European sailing ships first penetrated deep into the Indian and Pacific oceans in the 15th century with
the intent of exploration, wealth, and war. The casualties were appalling. Historical records document
that the Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama lost two thirds of his crew to scurvy symptoms while
traveling to India in 1499. Circumnavigator Ferdinand Magellan suffered 80% casualties to Scurvy.
Among Magellan s fleet of five galleons, only one ship survived the globe trotting excursion. During
the glorious age of sail, scurvy had claimed more sailors lives than all the others diseases and war
combined. A stunning record of 2 million sailors perished between the 16th and 19th century among

Throughout the course of up to three months, a sailor s health degrades ominously. Shortness of
breath, bone, and muscle pain (myalgia) intensify. Finally obvious objective symptoms manifest.
Petechiae and jaundice appear on the sailor s skin. Teeth dislodge, and injuries incurred from day to
day ship maintenance no longer heal. As crippling symptoms of edema, oliguria, and neuropathy
worsen, fever and convulsions finally seal the sailor s demise. When the British navy s Commodore
Anson attempted to raid Spanish shipping lanes in 1740 (during the epic Seven Years War), scurvy
proved to be more vicious than Spanish gunpowder. Tragically yet predictably, only one ship out of
the squadron of six returned from its mission. The Chaplain of commodore s flagship described
stricken sailors symptoms as: skin black as ink, ulcers, difficult respiration, rictus of the limbs, teeth
falling out and, perhaps the most revolting of all, a strange plethora of gum tissue sprouting out of the
mouth, which immediately rotted and lent the victim s breath an abominable odor.
Modern day scurvy treatment and prevention is remarkably simple. Unlike most of the animal
kingdom, the human body cannot synthesize Ascorbic Acid, so this vital coenzyme must be ingested.
Schoolchildren are taught at an early age that oranges provide ample amounts of Vitamin C. Lesser
known but excellent sources of Vitamin C also

When your mind is in the delta frequency, you have increased immune function as well as put out
chemicals that have a deep renewing benefit to your body.
But the delta brainwave state of mind is only achieved when we are in deep, restful sleep. So, if you
have pain, which leads to insomnia, which leads to decreased sleep, which leads to less delta time for
the brain, you are in a downward spiral.
HOW TO GET STARTED:
1. Find a good brainwave entrainment audio that puts your brain down into at least 2.5 Hz for 20 30
minutes.
2. Set aside 30 45 minutes a day to listen to a brainwave meditation audio that puts you into the delta
frequency. The best time to listen to it would be as you go to sleep at night.
3. Give yourself time to reap the benefits of this pain management technique. Your body has its own
rhythm for healing, so give yourself time to develop your body s reserves to renew itself and feel good
again.
SUMMARY: Meditation for pain relief has been scientifically proven to work. Using a brainwave
entrainment meditation to put your brain into the appropriate brain frequency to achieve these results
gives you one of the best types of meditation to use to get started right away and to keep going
because you can meditate your pain away while you

Risk Assessment And Mitigation Plan
Risk Assessment and Mitigation Plan: Initial Draft The purpose of a risk assessment plan, and
especially this one in particular, is to analyze the threats or dangers to the Defense Logistics
Information Service, which is the largest logistics combat support agency for the Department of
Defense. A proper risk assessment plan is vital to protect both the information we store for the
military, as well as the troops and civilians that would be in danger should this data be compromised.
Assets at risk include our own personnel as well as troops both deployed and in reserve, physical
equipment, and the data we create and store on a consistent basis. The boundaries for the plan will set
the borders for what the risk assessment will cover. For example, this risk assessment will not cover
how to mitigate the threats to our organization. It will only assess the assets at risk, and the threat to
those assets. Risk mitigation and management will be covered in a different section. There are
different approaches that can be taken when assessing risk. We can use quantitative methods, which
deal in exact dollar amounts and figures. Quantitative methods are more concrete, but take longer to
assess due to all the factors involved. This method would be more accurate at determining losses for
our company which deals in information. You also have qualitative methods, which are more
subjective and deal with assigning ratings. For example, you could have a risk rating system with

Oil Spills From An Off Shore Oil Rig
Background
The oil spills from an off shore oil rig or tanker can do tremendous damage to the esosystem in the
area of the spill and expand over vast regions to affect coastlines and indigenous wildlife hundreds of
miles away. Cleaning oil spills, especially in a marine environment is important and it is a challenging
task. The methods currently used to clean oil in water can be divided into following categories: using
booms and skimmer; using oil solidifier and dispersants; adding biological agents to speed up the oil
breakdown; or in situ burning of oil spills. However, only the skimmers were designed to recover the
spill oil.1
When oil is skimmed from the surface water, much of the recovered material is water. Thus, the
storage container fill up with more water than the actual oil. For example, a weir skimmer generally
recovers 70% water and 30% oil.1 To help make storage space available for actual oil, the recovered
water may be decanted back into the surface water where it was collected.
The collection of oil using hydrophobic/oleophilic material is preferred because it allows for the
proper disposal of oil and does not cause secondary pollution. The combat global scale water pollution
arising from oil spills and industrial organic pollutant, the development of efficient absorbent material
to efficiently separate and remove oil and organic pollutants from water should be of great
significance in addressing the environmental issue.

Some of the managers he didn t even see as well as he didn t even talk. So there is a poor

So due to that the managers wouldn t trust or know much about the plans of Chan Kee Tong it would

The second reasons than that they didn t get many replies because Chan Kee Tong is a newly hired

LCPL Dubuisson, Bryce A. 20160922 The History of 6TH Marine Regiment The 6TH Marine
Regiment is an infantry regiment of the United States Marine Corps based at Marine Corps Base
Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The regiment falls under the command of the 2nd Marine Division of
the II Marine Expeditionary Force. In 1917, the 6TH Marine Regiment was ativated on 11 July at
Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia to fight in World War I1. In early 1918, 6TH Marine Regiment
joined the 5TH Marine Regiment and the 6TH Machine Gun Battalion to form the 4TH Brigade. In
March of 1918 near Verdun the Marine Brigade entered th trenches of the Toulon Sector, where the
regiment suffered its first combat casualties1. Being forced to wear Army uniforms the only thing
Marines had to to set themselves apart was a cover with an eagle globe and ancore. This did not sit
will ith the marines so they desiged a patch. It had a black shield white star and indian head with a full
war dress2. The black was to mourne and respect their fallen brothers, the shield stood for defense of
each other and their country, the star was to show respect for the marines commanding general Bridger
Genral John A lejeune, and the indian head was to show the fighting spirte of the marines themselves2.
The Marines would wear this patch in battle and it was a sybole that the enemy feared, a symbole that
the Germans gave the name shock troops to those who wore it1. The 4th Brigade was ordered to
reinforce crumbling French lines near Château Thierry in late May 1918. The 6TH Regiment took ...

How Might Group Members Particular Ethnicity Or Culture...
How might group members particular ethnicity/culture (as you understand it) influence group
dynamics and communication styles or patterns in the group? Give examples Whenever a person is
apart of a group they are able to have a greater effect on the group rather than if they was not apart of
the group. For example if the Yankees baseball team needed advice on how to itch against the batter it
is likely that the Yankees would take a advice from a pitcher on their team rather than take advice
from the opposing team. This concept can be used with members of cultures. I am more likely to be
heard from a black organization, because I am black and there is a cultural bond. As I understand a
member of a cultural group might influence group dynamics,

Secret Intelligence Service Failure
The Secret Intelligence Service was derived by the Secret Service Bureau which was founded in 1909.
The bureau was a joint initiative by the Admiralty (authority responsible for the command of the
Royal Navy in the UK until 1964) and the War Office (department of the British Government
responsible of the Army between the 1700 s 1964). MI6 was initially founded to oversee activities
being conducted by the Imperial German Government at the time.
MI6 didn t play a very big role throughout World War 1 because it could not establish a solid network
over German soil and due to this, most of the information was being supplied by the military.
After the Great War many of the country s resources had been depleted, however MI6 created a close
relationship with the diplomatic service (a service that provided authorized personnel a diplomatic
immunity so that they were allowed safe passage to other countries). This helped with building
networks in foreign countries.
With this, the Secret Intelligence Service began focusing on Communism , in particular, Russian
Bolshevism . A plan was made to overthrow the Bolshevik Government, and everything was in check
for who would lead after that, however all of a sudden, many Russian politicians were being murdered
and MI6 took the blame, so the operation ended up as a Failure.
During the inter war period, many other institutes were created thanks to the SIS. These included,

Little Bee s Character Traits
Have you develop certain character traits based on your past? One example that s used in the story
Little Bee, is how Cleave develops Little Bee into a mature and understanding girl after she migrates
to The United Kingdom. Little Bee matures due her past experiences and tragic events that have
occurred within her. This allowed her to reconigze her past and her traits reflect of the unpleasant past.
One of the many lessons in the story Little Bee , one major lesson through Little Bee and my
experience is that your past will affect the person you are in the future. Little Bee, a Nigerian
immigrant has faced a harsh past. She has been let down many times. Throughout her life, she has
faced numerous tests in which she could have given up and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Based on her past experience with males in Nigeria, Little Bee has become over cautions when any
men is present in front of her. This is because of her past experience with the Hunter and the torture
they had caused to Little Bee s sister causing Little Bee to think, After a hundred sleepless nights I had
finished working out how to kill myself in every single corner of the detention center and the country
outside, but I still carried on imagining (Cleave 48). Little Bee has grown into this kind of feelings
through her recent experience while escaping Nigeria. She believes that all men are the same and get s
extra careful of her surroundings when exposed to males. This kind of experience is similar when I
first came to Canada. After the first two weeks of school, I realized that I did not need to be over
protective with the people around me and realized that there is no need of being over protective. Little
Bee and mine past experience maybe different that causes us to be over protective however we both
still develop this character trait based on certain events that has turned us think and become this way.
Therefore, based on our experiences, it is evident that one s identity evolves based on their

Developing Personal Skills
Developing personal skills
Sexual and reproductive health is promoted in schools and the community in order to develop personal
skills. Various programs have been introduced in schools to provide accurate health information to
young people and enhance their skills in communication and decision making. This empowers
individuals to make their own safe choices and decreases health risks. Information on sexual health
has also been incorporated into the school syllabus, so it is being taught in schools to the students by
teachers. Raising awareness of STIs through media, for the general public, is a strategy being used to
spread information.
The Sexual Health and Relationship Education (Share) program was created by SHine SA, South
Australian Department of Health and the Department of Education and Children s Service in 2006,
involving 15 schools across South Australia. Their aim was to improve the sexual health, safety and
well being of young people in South Australia through an educational program. Although the program
did not result in substantial development of health knowledge, it created stronger family and
community bonds and students felt more confident discussing issues with their parents. The Share
program has now become the Focus Schools Program, which is being delivered in 102 schools across
South Australia. There has also an adaptation called the Aboriginal Schools Focus program which has
been specifically implemented for Aboriginal schools.

manufacture and sell a broad range of products from shampoo to Band Aids, to medical devices. They
also focus on research and development to help heal diseases and treat illness. The company does not
have a mission statement but they do have a Credo. This credo was written by Robert Wood Johnson
in 1943. 1 Our Credo: We believe our first responsibility is to the doctors, nurses and patients, to
mothers and fathers and all others who use our products and services. In meeting their needs
everything we do must be of high quality. We must constantly strive to reduce our costs in order to ...

We are responsible to the communities in which we live and work and to the world community as
well. We must be good citizens support good works and charities and bear our fair share of taxes. We
must encourage civic improvements and better health and education. We must maintain in good order
the property we are privileged to use, protecting the environment and natural resources. Our final
responsibility is to our stockholders. Business must make a sound profit. We must experiment with
new ideas. Research must be carried on, innovative programs developed and mistakes paid for. New
equipment must be purchased, new facilities provided and new products launched. Reserves must be
created to provide for adverse times. When we operate according to these principles, the stockholders
should realize a fair return.
History of the Company Johnson Johnson was founded in 1886 in New Jersey by three brothers
Robert Wood Johnson, James Wood Johnson, and Edward Mead Johnson. They started out producing
sterile surgical dressings. In 1893, they started selling baby powder. From there they moved on to
Band Aids, baby shampoo, Tylenol, contact lenses and stints to name a few of their many early
products. Johnson Johnson also provided disaster relief to Galveston, Texas after a devastating
hurricane 1900, and to San Francisco, California after an earthquake in the 1906. They also founded

Biggie s Legacy

such as Fabolous, Pusha T, Jadakiss, TIP, more spitting some classic verses of his late friend hip hop
legend The Notorious B.I.G. on Instagram in memory of his passing on March 9th, 1997. Seeing those
videos was just another reminder of why one of Brooklyn s finest finds his way into a plethora of Top
5 MC s list. Though the 20th anniversary of Biggie s death is not the only thing we remember about
him this month. This Saturday on March 25th marks 20 years since the release of his second final

Just Blaze, Metro Boomin, or Zaytoven? We may never know but one thing is for certain, Life After

The Problem Of An Internal Malfunction Within A Computer
Abstract
Overheating is a symptom of an internal malfunction within a computer. Although, computer
manufacturer s created the computer as new working condition, they still fall short. God also created
mankind in a good order, however, they too fell short. Computer overheating symptoms may include
the actual power supply, computer overloading, fan failure, inadequate ventilation outside or around
the computer system, inadequate ventilation inside the computer system, and even dirt and dust. By
diagnosing the cause of overheating you can correct the problem and get your computer back up to a
normal operational use. In the same way, sin comes in many forms and the correct solution to the
problem of mankind is the Gospel of Christ.

Allegory In The Scarlet Letter
Hawthorne uses imagery and symbolism to create an allegory that communicates to the reader the idea
that you can never go back. First Dr. Heidegger invites his friends over, who are all older, and
secondly as a test lets them go back to their days back to their younger selves with the help of some
water from the Fountain of Youth. Third they become obsessed with being young that they end up
fighting and then then they become old again as the youth is drained from them. They finally don t
learn their lessons and travel down to Florida in search of the Fountain of Youth. The friends names
were Mr. Medbourne, Colonel Killigrew, Mr. Gascoigne, and Widow Wycherly all of whom were past
their old ripe age. Mr. Medbourne represents greed and the evidence

Goals Of Utopia
Utopia
I. Goals values Each citizen of Utopia should value total and complete equality above all else. Total
and complete equality encompasses social matters and governmental matters; no individual is above
another in any capacity. This also applies to dealings with the structure of government: the needs of
the individual are equal to the needs of the government because the government is the people. This is
achieved through the elimination of social hierarchy. Man cannot think of himself as better than his
peers if they are equal parts of a whole. The goal of the utopia is to provide for the community, thus
keeping it sustainable. Everyone works not out of personal benefit, but out of benefit for the
community which will strengthen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
III. Power politics The works of Karl Marx are a crucial part of the foundation of the utopia, as they
outline the overt flaws in a capitalist system and define the economic plan of the utopia. Although not
inherently communistic in every aspect, the dominant political ideology of the utopia is libertarian
socialism. Under libertarian socialism, the citizens can reach their full potential while remaining under
the care of the government for systems such as healthcare and education. By being allowed to the
same opportunities as everyone else from birth, the concept of equality of opportunity is instilled in
each person and is further cemented into the foundations of each individual as they age. Eventually,
they will come to see themselves and others as complete equals, which will give them a better
understanding of their environment and will make for better choices. The utopia will have a horizontal
structure of government and direct participation in creating legislature is voluntary, however everyone
over the age of 19 must vote. All legislation is subject to a vote by the whole public every three
months. For proposed laws, projects or any decisions made by the government to become enforced
legislation, they must be voted on at the end of every three months, creating four quarters in the year.

A Formal Analysis of Potential Career Choices
A Formal Analysis Of Potential Career Choices
Introduction A formal analysis of the characteristics and outlook for two possible career choices
Policeman vs. Lawyer is a valuable tool in the decision making process used by an employment
candidate to make a successful selection between them. New entrants into the job market face a very
competitive environment and training (or re training) for jobs is frequently expensive and time
consuming. Therefore there is a definite need to make one s career decisions using a comprehensive,
formal analysis in order to promote a successful and satisfying career choice. Background information
was gathered by a search of peer reviewed articles from governmental and professional journal
sources in the literature. These articles provided several important variables to be considered in the
methodology, including: (a) candidate gender; (b) candidate ethnicity; (c) educational level; (d)
physical demands; (e) mental/analytical demands; (f) pathways to advancement; and (g) employment
outlook. These decision variables are identified for each potential career choice and then compared
and contrasted between the career options. A conclusion is then reached as to a recommended best fit
option relative to a candidate s career goals and interests.

  • 4. Second And Third Wave Feminism Throughout the twentieth century feminist movements changed the first world dramatically, but during the second half the twentieth century the views and goals of what women wanted in life changed from simply asking for fair pay and equal rights to jobs to wanting their lifestyle changed. The impact of the second and third wave of feminists held a positive sphere around the fact that women had a bigger voice in politics and economics, but socially feminism was almost purely negative. Feminist groups, mostly in the late second wave and the entirety of the third wave, consisted almost entirely of misandrists. Male suicide rate, bias towards men in family courts, domestic violence against men, men who are victims of rape and depression in men are all rising percentages because of second and third wave feminism. Second wave feminism and the radical groups surrounding it such as the Women s Liberation Group have given women a voice, but the late second and the entirety of the third wave have created a social imbalance between the genders resulting in a cataclysmic rise in negative male statistics. Overall the feminist movements of the second and third wave have made a good positive difference for both women and the global society as whole, however the radical groups of the second wave and the third wave overall have created a negative sphere around the mistreatment of the genders, and as a result men have become the more discriminated gender. For that reason, policymakers rely on private entities to establish financial accounting and reporting standards (Donald Kieso, 2003, Intermediate Accounting). After their joint meeting in September 2002, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) issued the Norwalk Agreement, acknowledging their commitment to development compatible accounting standards that could be used for both domestic and cross border financial reporting. At that meeting, the FASB and the IASB agreed to make their existing financial reporting standards compatible and to ensure that once achieved, compatibility is maintained. The FASB IASB convergence efforts involve two projects: the short term project that is intended to remove individual differences between International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Examples of short term convergence efforts include accounting for non monetary exchanges and income taxes. The second type of convergence project refers to long term projects like revenue recognition. In April and October 2005, the FASB and the IASB reaffirmed their commitment to the convergence of US generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) and agreed upon the need for the removal of the reconciliation requirement for non US companies that use IFRSs and are registered in the United States. • 6. Globalization And Its Effect On Society Globalization and the use of new technologies and how it strengthens or weakens global inequalities Globalization is a very important force in the new world and it continues to impact the lives of individuals as well as groups world over. The role and affect of globalization has broadened over time. It has resulted in the lessening of trade barriers, integration of the economy of the world, increase in opportunities for groups and individuals alike and an increase in the economic well being and income levels of individuals and groups. However, critics of economic globalization argue that it has led to an increase in the unequal distribution of income. They say that although, groups have seen growths in their income levels, there are groups which are facing the adverse affects of globalization. It has driven some individuals much deeper into poverty (Ekmekcioglu). The developed countries and big multi national corporations reap the most benefits of globalization as it opens up more opportunities for them as well as increases the markets they operate in. It is, however, difficult for third world countries to reach their full potential because they are not able to avail the opportunities presented through globalization. James K. Galbraith in his article defines globalization as a perfect crime. He says that in poorer countries globalization is a synonym for imperialism and colonialism (Galbraith). Jones Juvenile Arrests 2008 Data is collected by law enforcement agencies within the United States and submitted to the Federal Bureau of Investigations for tracking purposes. These numbers are used by analysts at the FBI to indicate trends in crime and to possibly develop alternative policing methods. A statistician can manipulate numbers to show what they feel is relevant, but aside from just being numbers in a spreadsheet it allows police forces to determine the trends within their respective communities. According to Puzzanchera (2009) In 2008, law enforcement agencies in the United States made an estimated 2.11 million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As this figure shows that simple assault arrests are decreasing, it is still far higher than it should be. Implications for Females and Minorities Using the data provided by Puzzanchera (2009), it is obvious that female offenders are becoming more brazen in their ways. Whereas crime has been predominantly a male dominated venue, females are staking a claim to their rights to enter the world of crime. This change in roles is also noted in the adult arrest reports; female arrests have shown a slower decrease than male arrests. Minorities are also affected by the statistics of the Uniform Crime Report. When looking at minority arrests, the composition of the community really affects the numbers used. Overall in the United States the racial compositions for juveniles according to Puzzanchera (2009) showed that 78% of juveniles were white, 16% were black, 5% Asian, and only 1% Native American. These figures can be severely misleading in that Hispanic juveniles are classified as white for these studies. However, using these numbers and the reporting by agencies, violent crimes committed in 2008 were done by 47% white youth, 52% black youth and a mere 1% were committed by Asian youth, leaving the last 1% to have been committed by native American youth. As a result, black youth are more likely to commit violent crimes and be entered into the juvenile justice system. • 9. Urban Regeneration And Urban Development INTRODUCTION: This dissertation is influenced by the ongoing urban regeneration and urban developments in many of the major cities in India, especially in city of Pune, and its adverse effects on the city townscapes and place identities. City of Pune has a rich education legacy and has been often referred as the Oxford of the East , a legacy which came into prominence on the establishment of the University of Pune in the year 1949 (Hindustan Times, 2012). The city truly justified itself as the cultural capital of Maharashtra with its strong connections with the work of arts, music, theater and literature (Hindustan Times, 2012). Pune, being an educational hub of India by having one of the India s oldest University (Maharashtra Tourism, 2013), has now been transformed into a major manufacture and production hub as well as has improved in educational sectors like research institutes for information technology, management, architecture and engineering that attract students and professionals internationally (SCHEMCON, 2015). With the inception of international influences and urban planning techniques, it has been realized that the old heritage and culture, the core Pune identity is slowly been taking a blow. The urbanization has been transforming the urban townscapes of Pune into completely new dimensions thus hampering the glorious heritage and cultural identity for which the city of Pune is known for. Child care providers must re apply for their license every two years and then once they submit their new license to the network, they then sign a new contract. What could cause the contract from not being revised would be its disapproval from the Vice President of the child care division. In addition, if the provider s contract were to stay the same there would be no progression or drive from the providers to adhere to the guidelines that have changed within the Department of Health and the Child Care Network. The Critical Actors of the change would be the Vice President, the Director and the Assistant Director. The driving force of the Vice President would be that she is very much for a change in the providers behavior and professional attitudes toward the parents and the caseworkers. She would also like to establish a more business like attitude with the caseworkers, other network staff, and the parents. Lastly, she is looking for the providers to learn more educational techniques from the trainings and workshops that are offered for them through the network. The restraining forces would be that she would not approve the contact because its trying to implement too much change at one time. Another restraining factor would be that the providers would contact the UFT union (United Federation of Teachers) because of the extra demands that are being asked of them without extra monetary compensation. Queen Elizabeth the First Essays Elizabeth Semper Eadem Prologue Known as The Golden Age in English history, the 45 year rule of Queen Elizabeth I turned the declining country of England, into one of the most powerful and prosperous countries in the world. Elizabeth Tutor I was born unwanted to King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn on September 7 1533. Taught by famous scholars in her youth, she excelled at her studies. From an early age, she was seen to be enormously gifted. She had an especial flair for languages. By adulthood, she was capable of speaking 5 different languages. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the half century during which she ruled, her kingdom became known for its pageantry and glamour. When Elizabeth Tudor had succeeded the throne, religious strife, a huge government debt, and failures in war, had caused England to be considered a poor credit risk on the Continent. Though popular and much admired, Elizabeth did not inherit a stable and prosperous country, thus the quest for stability and prosperity became the guiding force of her reign. She constantly avoided foreign entanglements and religious extremism. The motto Elizabeth Semper Eadem Latin, meaning Always the same was highly appropriate. Queen Elizabeth I left behind an extraordinary image of a dazzling era of excitement and achievement, nearly superhuman heroes and daring deeds, with the Queen, larger than life, radiating inspiration at the center of it all. Elizabeth s character was a mystery to most people at the time she inherited the throne. She had learned to keep her own council, control her emotions, and always behaved cautiously, thus being able to disprove all rumors about her. Always dignified and stately, she could be vain, willful, dictatorial, temperamental, and imperious. She had courage, both in her decisions, and in the face of danger. Possessing an innate of humanity, she was not normally cruel, unlike most rulers of her day. Most regarded her to be unusually tolerant in that age of religious conflict. The event planning committee is preparing for a wide range of events such as speeches, nomination process, seminars, the stating of the party platform, and parades. While all these activities have a certain amount of risk involved, parades and the demonstrations that occur during a political convention provide a greater amount of risk. As a result, the following risk management plan will address the risk associated with parades and demonstrations, and offer solution that will reduce the risks associated with these events. A parade is a public celebration of a special day or event that usually includes many people and groups moving down a street by marching or riding in cars or on special vehicles (called floats) (Simple Definition of Parade, 2015, para.1). When planning a parade there is plenty of risks that can happen, which can cause harm to the attendees. As a result, strict guidelines on the manner the parade will happen will be developed and communicated with all the stakeholders of the parade. The first guideline that will be developed to mitigate the risk of the parade is the creation of a fire safety parade code. The fire marshal will be a key ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This essay will discuss Virgil s Latin epic The Aeneid , a kind of propaganda, Cicero s Second Philippic a piece written with personal and political intentions in mind, and Plutarch s Rome in Crisis regarding Antony. One must treat these sources with caution, not least because of the inherent bias present in their writing. It is necessary to take into account the context, type of source and how the author has shaped material for their own personal or political gain. Limitations. Virgil shapes material for his own literary and historical purposes, therefore bias is present. In this Euphoria Virgil took to writing patriotic poems such as The Aeneid (4). After a century of civil war, Augustus victory promises a return of order, prosperity and peace to Rome. Augustus ignored Virgil s instruction to burn The Aeneid after his death in 19 BC. This indicates that Virgil wrote in favour of his patron, ruler of Rome and is hostile towards Antony due to this (5). Therefore, Augustus is a bringer of peace , consequently Mark Antony is associated with the violence of civil war. Virgil s Aeneid praises Augustus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Essay about Sound Localization and Hearing Protection Devices Introduction A hearing protection device (HPD) is often used as a protective measure in a workplace environment when the sound levels of that environment cannot be decreased and such levels pose a threat to the hearing of workers. An HPD is a safety device worn by individual s to protect his or her hearing from the harmful effects of sound (Berger, 2003). A variety of occupational environments are known to produce high levels of noise, including factories and military operations. Individuals employed in these professions may be required to wear HPDs to reduce the risk of noise induced hearing loss. However, certain situations in these work environments require the listener to also be able to hear low level sounds for safety reasons. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The three main styles of HPDs are earplugs, earmuffs, and semi aural devices. Special protectors, such as level dependent hearing protectors, are less commonly used but also have an effect on sound localization. Earplugs are placed into the ear canal in order to block the entrance of sound by forming a hermetic seal. Earplugs are better suited for longer use for those individuals who are exposed to noise throughout their workday, and provide a significant amount of attenuation. However, the effectiveness of the earplugs depends on proper insertion, and requires training employees on how to correctly place them in the canal. The level of attenuation can vary depending on how well the earplug is fit, as well as the motivation of the employee to wear them consistently (Berger, 2003). Earmuffs, on the other hand, cover the entire outer ear and provide an air tight seal against the head in order to block the entrance of sound. Earmuffs are preferred for individuals who are not exposed to a consistent level of noise throughout the day. Rather, they are better suited for shorter periods of high level noise during the workday. Due to the size and location on the head, they also may not be beneficial for employees that must work in smaller, more confined spaces. However, the level of attenuation is more consistent than earplugs, as the employees do not require extensive training on the use of earmuffs as they are generally one sized devices (Berger, 2003). ... Scientific Principles Of The Work Of Wilhelm Wundt Essay This essay will look at scientific principles used today to perform psychological research and find similarities and differences of that research style in the work of Wilhelm Wundt; this will be done through looking at his approach to psychology, his lab and the impact he had on psychology in general. The essay will then consider the Gestaltists approach to psychology by looking at their main beliefs, experiments and their legacy and link it to the scientific principles. Finally, it will summarize the influence both Wundt and the Gestaltists had on establishing psychology as a science. Scientific principles describe the steps of psychological research, how the understanding of behaviour is assessed, how variables are defined and data can be received. The psychological research consists of seven steps as can be seen in figure 1. Figure 1 (Passer, Smith, Holt, 2010, pp. 40 41) The scientific principles also consist out of how approaches to understanding behaviour are made: through prediction, control and theory building as well as how variables are defined and data to measure behaviour can be received. The first academic to look at is Wilhelm Wundt by applying the scientific principles to his work and his contribution to establish psychology as a science. Wilhelm Wundt (1832 1920) was a German physician who became interested in applying the physiological methods to psychological phenomena and wanted to model the study of the mind after the natural sciences. The epics Gilgamesh, Beowulf, and The Mahabharata, share similar characteristics in terms of their strength, values, and journeys. In each of the epics that will be discussed, there is the occurrence of fighting for honor and to have a legacy. The epic heroes follow many of the guidelines that Joseph Campbell has written in his book Hero with a Thousand Faces. Joseph Campbell believed that the stages of a hero were to have a call to adventure, he is introduced in his ordinary world, he is hesitant and may not want to fulfill his mission, the person is encouraged by someone old and wise, the person is committed to their journey, there are tests and people to help the hero, the hero faces his last, challenging quest, he potentially faces death, the hero survives his journey and is rewarded in some way, he has a journey back to his home and could face more danger, the hero is transformed by his experience, and the hero brings back treasures. Gilgamesh shows the characteristics of hero according to Joseph Campbell because he faces many challenging quests in particular his most dangerous is going to the king and queen of (idk) (where) to find the secret of immortality, Gilgamesh survives his journey back from (where), Gilgamesh is transformed because he becomes less shellfish, on the journey home he could have possibly been in danger because of the deadly ... • 35. Risk Assessment And Mitigation Plan Risk Assessment and Mitigation Plan: Initial Draft The purpose of a risk assessment plan, and especially this one in particular, is to analyze the threats or dangers to the Defense Logistics Information Service, which is the largest logistics combat support agency for the Department of Defense. A proper risk assessment plan is vital to protect both the information we store for the military, as well as the troops and civilians that would be in danger should this data be compromised. Assets at risk include our own personnel as well as troops both deployed and in reserve, physical equipment, and the data we create and store on a consistent basis. The boundaries for the plan will set the borders for what the risk assessment will cover. For example, this risk assessment will not cover how to mitigate the threats to our organization. It will only assess the assets at risk, and the threat to those assets. Risk mitigation and management will be covered in a different section. There are different approaches that can be taken when assessing risk. We can use quantitative methods, which deal in exact dollar amounts and figures. Quantitative methods are more concrete, but take longer to assess due to all the factors involved. This method would be more accurate at determining losses for our company which deals in information. Oil Spills From An Off Shore Oil Rig Background The oil spills from an off shore oil rig or tanker can do tremendous damage to the esosystem in the area of the spill and expand over vast regions to affect coastlines and indigenous wildlife hundreds of miles away. Cleaning oil spills, especially in a marine environment is important and it is a challenging task. The methods currently used to clean oil in water can be divided into following categories: using booms and skimmer; using oil solidifier and dispersants; adding biological agents to speed up the oil breakdown; or in situ burning of oil spills. However, only the skimmers were designed to recover the spill oil.1 When oil is skimmed from the surface water, much of the recovered material is water. Thus, the storage container fill up with more water than the actual oil. For example, a weir skimmer generally recovers 70% water and 30% oil.1 To help make storage space available for actual oil, the recovered water may be decanted back into the surface water where it was collected. The collection of oil using hydrophobic/oleophilic material is preferred because it allows for the proper disposal of oil and does not cause secondary pollution. The combat global scale water pollution arising from oil spills and industrial organic pollutant, the development of efficient absorbent material to efficiently separate and remove oil and organic pollutants from water should be of great significance in addressing the environmental issue. MI6 was initially founded to oversee activities being conducted by the Imperial German Government at the time. MI6 didn t play a very big role throughout World War 1 because it could not establish a solid network over German soil and due to this, most of the information was being supplied by the military. After the Great War many of the country s resources had been depleted, however MI6 created a close relationship with the diplomatic service (a service that provided authorized personnel a diplomatic immunity so that they were allowed safe passage to other countries). This helped with building networks in foreign countries. With this, the Secret Intelligence Service began focusing on Communism , in particular, Russian Bolshevism .
