Essay on John Hersey s Hiroshima
John Hersey s Hiroshima
In John Hersey s Hiroshima, he based his book upon the one perspective that, the bombing of
Hiroshima was an act of inhumanity. What Hersey failed to do was to give the perspective of the
Americans. Hersey did not account for the Pearl Harbor bombing of 1941 or the death march in the
Japanese Bataan Camps in 1942. Without giving both perspectives, Hersey does not give the reader a
fair chance to form their own opinion; instead, the reader is swayed into Hersey s bias beliefs of the
event. Hersey s Hiroshima was originally an article written for The New Yorker Magazine in order to
help a reader identity with deceased and survivors of the Hiroshima s bombing (The New Yorker). He
accomplished this by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One scientist from the Manhattan Project, the creators of the atomic bomb, in response to Hersey s
article in the New Yorker wrote, I am filled with such shame to recall the whoopee spirit, at the
announcement of bombing Hiroshima (The New Yorker). This type of reaction, after reading Hersey s
vivid work on the Hiroshima bombing, is understandable and expected. What Hersey failed to do was
to give the other perspective, of why America took these actions against Hiroshima? The two major
historic events that Hersey failed to mention were the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the death march at
the Bataan Camps. These two instances show the attacks that Japan made against America. December
7, 1941, Japan performed a surprise attack on America at Pearl Harbor. According to Japanese feudal
code of honor, the idea of a surprise is recommended and it raises no moral problems (Sulzberger
146). During Japan s attack, they broke the seal of trust. Japan s Ambassador and Diplomatic agent
were in Washington pretending to have been seeking a negotiated settlement between the two
countries (Sulzberger 146). America lost over 3,000 service men from this bombing. This type of
betrayal could only cause anger and determination to strike back. The death march at the Japanese
Bataan Camp, of April 1942, Japanese officers enslaved about 75,000 men, 12,000 of which were
American soldiers (Bergamini 1168). The soldiers were forced to march sixty miles with

Barack Obama Biography
In this portion of the paper, I will be discussing the biography of Barack Obama.
Barack Hussein Obama III, an American Politician, was born in 1961 on August 4th, in Honolulu,
Hawaii. He was the first African American to serve as the President of The United States for two terms
from 2009 to 2017. Mainly raised in Hawaii, Obama spent four years in Jakarta, Indonesia and spent
one year in Washington State. At ten years old, he relocated back to Hawaii to live with his
grandparents.
In 1983, Obama graduated from Columbia University and began working as a community organizer
for low income residents from the south side of Chicago. Five years later, he enrolled in Harvard Law
School. The following summer during an internship at a Chicago Law Firm, he met Michelle
Robinson. In Law school, Obama was the first African American President of the Harvard Law
Review. Obama returned to Chicago after graduation and began practicing civil rights law, teaching
law school and establishing Get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Four years later, Obama suffered his only political loss in a run for the U.S. House of Representatives.
However, in 2004, he ran for the U.S. Senate and gave a high profile critical speech at the Democratic
National Convention. Obama won his senate race defeating multimillionaire businessman Blair Hull
and Illinois Comptroller Daniel Hynes with 52 percent of the vote.
In 2007, the freshman senator announced he was running for President of The United States. His
leading opponent in the Democrat primaries was former first lady Hillary Clinton. Even though he
won the nomination, he had Clinton s support for the duration of his campaign. On November 6, 2008,
Obama won the general election against Republican John McCain. Delaware Senator Joe Biden, his
running mate, became vice president. On January 2009, Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of
the United States. Ten months later, he received the Nobel Peace

Famine Affluence And Morality By Peter Singer Summary
The article, Famine, Affluence, and Morality by Peter Singer highlights the death and suffering that
occurred in East Bengal in 1971 due to lack of food, shelter, and medical care (Singer 231). The
author points out that poverty, civil war, and a cyclone all combined to make the situation worse for
about nine million people inhabiting the area at the time, but if the richer nations came in and provided
assistance, further suffering would have been alleviated. This essay provides an argument as to why
famine victims should be given aid and explains how doing so affects our understanding of the
distinction between charity and duty. It also offers a critique of Singer s argument based on John
Arthur s idea of just deserts from his article entitled Famine relief and the Ideal Moral Code.
Why we should aid famine victims Singer s main argument in Famine, Affluence, and Morality, is that
the manner in which we conduct ourselves morally needs to change. The author holds that if it is
within our power to prevent a bad event from taking place without sacrificing anything else of moral
importance, or without causing something equally bad to happen, then we are morally obligated to
react and prevent it (Singer 231). According to him, we all have the power and the means to prevent
bad situations from affecting people across the world no matter how helpless we feel. Singer provides
an example where a person is placed in a situation where they can prevent something bad from
happening

Brain Integrity
We don t ordinarily relate innovativeness with brain infection, yet a recent study from best neurologsit
in nyc about Brain recommends that perhaps we ought to. When we consider somebody influenced by
a genuine brain issue, we envision crumbling and loss of capacity, however a shocking new study
demonstrates that a few people may really create masterful ability as a consequence of their mind

This survey by top neurologist in nyc unites instances of people with neurological conditions, who
with no past imaginative inspirations all of a sudden get to be constrained to make craftsmanship, and
the workmanship is great!
The creators portray an instance of an epileptic man with no imaginative capacity who started to
endure repeating epileptic assaults in which he acted forcefully, couldn t talk or center his eyes, and
carried on of character. Amid these assaults, the patient started to draw suddenly and enthusiastically,
and with exceptional aptitude. For another situation, a 68 year old man had started to paint at age 56
with the onset of dementia, regardless of never being occupied with craftsmanship. In the ten years
that went after the onset of his dementia, his canvases turned out to be increasingly nitty gritty, vivid,
exact and sensible, and he even started to win honors and awards for his specialty. ... Show more

Summary Of The Shawl By Louise Erdrich
The Shawl by Louise Erdrich
Among the Anishinaabeg on the road where I live, it is told how a woman loved a man other than her
husband and went off into the bush and bore his child. Her name was Aanakwad, which means cloud,
and like a cloud she was changeable. She was moody and sullen one moment, her lower lip jutting and
her eyes flashing, filled with storms. The next, she would shake her hair over her face and blow it
straight out in front of her to make her children scream with laughter. For she also had two children by
her husband, one a yearning boy of five years and the other a capable daughter of nine.
When Aanakwad brought the new baby out of the trees that autumn, the older girl was like a second
mother, even waking in the night to clean the baby and nudge it to her mother s breast. Aanakwad
slept through its cries, hardly woke. It wasn t that she didn t love her baby; no, it was the opposite she
loved it too much, the way she loved its father, and not her husband. This passion ate away at her, and
her feelings were unbearable. If she could have thrown off that wronghearted love, she would have,
but the thought of the other man, who lived across the lake, was with her always. She became a gray
sky, stared monotonously at the walls, sometimes wept into her hands for hours at a time. Soon, she
couldn t rise to cook or keep the cabin neat, and it was too much for the girl, who curled up each night
exhausted in her red and brown plaid shawl, and slept and slept, until

Vietnam After The Saigon Fall 1975
Vietnam After the Saigon Fall 1975
Overview
Many books, magazine articles, and papers have been written about the Vietnam war and its
consequences, but most are written from the perspective of an outsider looking in without actually
living in Vietnam after the fall of Saigon in 1975. Few reporters ever came back to Vietnam to live
there and describe day to day life in Vietnam after the war. Under the control of Communist rulers and
an embargo from the US, Vietnam was almost isolated from the western world between 1975 and the
very late eighties (one can recognize a similar pattern in North Korea now). Western reporters were
not welcome or even permitted to enter Vietnam for reporting purposes without an agreement from
government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The situation in Vietnam closely parallels that of the current situation in North Korea, and
demonstrates why it is very hard to find good published reliable sources about that country: officially,
none exist. The only reliable source of information about North Korea one can find is from the
experience of the people who have survived and escaped from North Korea; reports from its
government are simply propaganda.
Introduction
Vietnam lies along the eastern coast of the Indochina peninsula in an S shape. It is about 1,650 km
long and is from 50 to 560 km wide. Its area is about 329,560 sq. km slightly larger than Mexico (CIA
World Factbook). It is bordered on the north by China and the west by Laos and Cambodia. With a
population of more than 81 million, Vietnam is one of the 15 most highly populated countries in the
world. It is also one of the poorest countries in Southeast Asia with many problems like pollution,
uneven population distribution, and a very fragile economic infrastructure.
History
According to archaeological discoveries, around the fourth millennium BC and during the Bronze Age
the first Vietnamese civilization, called Lac Viet (People of the Valley) was established in northern
Vietnam. Lac Viet reached its prime in the third century BC before it was conquered by the Chinese
ruling Han Dynasty in 207 BC (Booz 20). For the next thousand years Vietnam was

Research Paper On Why Dogs Are Better Than Cats
Why Dogs Make Better Pets Than Cats. Dogs and cats are most pets that are seen with their owner.
These two animals make good pets to have. Dogs are physical and fun animals that runs with a flock
of their inheritance. Cats are feminine and spoil animals that like to have its way. When it comes down
to choose the better pet, dogs are better pets than cats. Some pet owners think dog and cat food the
same. Dogs have better food to eat because the type of dogs I like can eat some of the same food as I.
Dogs can eat a variety of food either if it s home cooked of store bought dog food. I can feed a dog
leftover from dinner and it will eat. Bones are another food dogs can eat when dog food is gone. Dog

house, or yard is a good way to involve a dog to lighten the load off its owner. A dog can pull loads of
garbage, or pickup objects with its mouth while the owner carry other objects. Cats don t get its paws
dirty too much. It s unlikely of cats to do some hard work. The size of the cat can tell the difference of
a dog and cat s work habits. To conclude dogs make better pets than a cat does. Cats are good animals,

My Goal Of Becoming An Artist
Futures I craved in the past were nothing compared to my goal of becoming an artist. It was the dream
I never considered to continue into a career because of stereotypes such as, Few people make enough
money from art to sustain themselves. I have experienced countless lessons in my life, but this is the
most important one I developed on my own. I am excited and exceedingly proud of my journey to find
that belief, the way I discovered it, and what this realization means to me. I believe what you are
meant to do in life is what you love most. I have always wanted to be successful, and the drive that
pushes me to constantly give my best effort has not dulled. The careers that I wanted to peruse in the
past consisted of being a veterinarian, a teacher, an astronomer, an entrepreneur, and a lawyer. I had
specific reasons for choosing these careers, but like most occupations that young children choose to
pursue, my choices were not what I was truly passionate about. There were also many factors those
jobs involved that would make me unhappy, such as being a vet often requires performing surgery and
performing vaccinations. It was also based on what my mindset was at the time, for example, how I
convinced myself that I was destined to be a lawyer for the sole reason that I was a gifted argurer,
which was the equivalent of a moody pre teen. Throughout the entirety of these phases, I created and
progressed in art regularly, and I loved it. Furthermore I had talent, and to my

Human resource management development and strategic management enhanced by simulation

Peter R.J. Trim
Department of Management, Birkbeck College, University of London, London, UK

to meet the challenges of the marketplace, senior management needs to ensure that an organisation

By thinking ahead, senior managers can implement a process that takes into account the strategic
thinking workshop approach put forward by Graetz, (2002, pp. 458 9). The advantage of this approach
will be realised when staff from around the world are brought together on a problem solving exercise.
It is also necessary to take into account the communicative skill gaps that exist and what type of
interpersonal skills are needed, and this is especially true in the ` context of decision making vis a vis
strategic alliances, for example (Trim and Lee, 2003). What needs to be understood, however, is how
individuals from different cultures relate to people from outside their cultural value system. The key
issues which surface are issues such as the appropriate way in which to communicate within the
organisation s hierarchy, and if necessary, how to communicate with government representatives.
Therefore, training and staff development personnel in international organisations need to identify
which ` type of simulation exercises will be most suitable for training staff vis a vis careers in an
international organisational setting. Human resource management specialists will, therefore, need to
develop staff development programmes that enable an individual employee to develop their skill base
continually. This means, according to Blunden (1997, p. 277), that an individual needs to develop an
ability to transfer his/her learning and skills from one situation to

the girl in the poem is growing up, she was like all the other girls her age: presented dolls that did pee

quote, the author uses symbols to show that girls are supposed to act a certain way, primarily as
housewives or stay at home moms. They are given dolls that act like children which are symbolic of
the idea that the young girls can practice being mothers of their children they are expected to have.

The author uses a simile to compare the girl s good nature to a rubber belt in a car that makes the
engine run. The girl was always being called names and was made fun of and if it happens once you
brush it off but once it is repeated over and over again it starts to really affect you but she had a good
natured personality so she could live with the bullying, her good nature kept her alive this is similar to
a fan belt in a car because the rubber is constantly under a little bit of friction not enough to affect it
one time but over the course of years it slowly wears out but until it actually breaks the car could still
run normally. The use of this simile is extremely important because rubber wears out if it is constantly
being used to move the vehicle which causes friction. Likewise, the girl s good nature was in constant
employment because of people constantly bullying her about her appearance, that it wore out and
finally snapped. She stops wanting to live because her good nature was keeping her life going so once
it was gone so was her life. When the fan belt on a car wears out and finally snaps, the car can no
longer move either, the car is dead like the girl. Also, fan belts are found on cars which you would
associate with men so the author uses it as the simile to show the reader how when someone isn t

climactic scene of the book, setting up the final, public resolution of the plot that follows in chapter

servant, for you are a redeemer (3:9), Victor Hamilton says that this phrase clearly refers to marriage.
This is the turning out because through Boaz, Ruth is able to receive a new husband and Naomi is able
to receive a son (which eventually happens when Obed is born). This also takes away all Naomi s
bitterness because she how has someone to take he late husband s place, which she is experiencing

The Importance Of Environmental Pollution In Bangladesh
Environmental pollution is amajor crisis that we are facing today. Due to the increased urbanization
and industrialization surface water pollution has become a crucial problem. It is necessary to obtain
precise and appropriate information to monitor the quality of any water resource and to develop a tool
to predict and summarize the quality and their usefulness (Mohammadet al.,2010).
Bangladesh covers an area of 147,570 sq. km, a little more than the size of Greece. It extends from 20
34N to 26 38N latitude and from 88 01E to 92 41E longitude. Maximum extension is about 440 km in
the E W direction and 760 km in the NNW SSE direction. The Indian States of West Bengal, Assam,
Meghalaya and Tripura border Bangladesh in the west, north and east respectively. Myanmar forms
the southern part of the eastern frontier. The total length of the land border is about 4,246 km, of
which 93.9% is shared with India and about 6.1% with Myanmar. The country is bounded in the south
by the Bay of Bengal. Although Bangladesh is a small country, the length of the coastline is more than
580 km. The territorial waters of Bangladesh extend 12 nautical miles (22.22 km) and the area of the
high SEAS extending to 200 nautical miles (370.40 km) measured from the base lines constitutes the
economic zone of the country. Because of the Geography of Bangladesh, the country has a mostly
monsoon climate. This means that the country has high rainfall in certain seasons, high temperatures
and high humidity.

The World Of The Gospels A Miracle
Miracle stories were accepted by ancient people as possible. The divine interacted with human kind.
This contrasts with the contemporary scepticism about the sacred or the possibility of miracles. In the
light of scientific, data driven, technological preoccupation, miracles seem to be unnecessary. The gap
between humankind and the divine has widened to the point of being irrelevant, unnecessary or non
existent. However, in the world of the gospels a miracle was anything that caused people to wonder
(Latin miraculum to wonder; mirari to wonder at) or be in awe. According to John Meier (A marginal
Jew, Vol 2:512) a miracle is an unusual startling or extraordinary event that is in principle perceivable
by any interested and fair minded observer, and event that finds no reasonable explanation in human
abilities or in other known forces that operate in our world of time and space and an event that is the
result of a special act of God, doing what no human power can do . There are two elements to a
miracle one which causes wonder, one that is extraordinary phenomenon that is inexplicable in terms
of familiar, everyday causation. This is ascribe to a superhuman force. What demarcates the
extraordinary varies from people to people, culture to culture and age to age.
In the NT miracle accounts are not unique in the Greco Roman world. What was distinguishable in

Terrorism, according to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, is the unlawful
use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property
with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or
political reasons (Follendore). Terrorism was more myth than reality for most Americans until the
attack of 9/11. The act of terrorism is meant to subdue societies with fear but it is impossible to instill
fear without tools. Without capital, terrorists are unable to act; even terrorists are reliant upon money.
Since their country of origin dislikes most terrorist groups, it is hard to set up businesses and become
successful independently so an outside income source is required. Drugs and drug trafficking are huge
moneymakers that are also tax free. The drug trade is cash based and full of money. James Bovard
says in an essay that because narcotics are illicit, they tend to attract violent, ruthless people and
organizations to carry out their production and marketing. Further he says, groups that specialize in
violence such as terrorists take to drug trafficking like a duck to water (Bovard). Drugs are present and
fairly common within the United States and if drug sales are reduced, terrorism will diminish over
time, unless it finds a new

Praxis In Relation To The Practitioner Inquiry
2. Praxis in relation to the practitioner inquiry As educators, we regularly take an action and
considering the impact of the action. Then we analysing the results of the action by reflecting upon it
and critically evaluate our professional knowledge and the effectiveness of our teaching. Further, we
are altering and revising conceptions and planning following reflection. Finally, we are implementing
these plans in further actions. In this process, teachers work collaboratively with other members of the
profession and engage in discussion of contemporary issues and research to improve professional
practice. Many educators are involved with praxis but it often isn t part of their vocabulary. Without

During my inquiry, I considered theories when planning, taking action, reflecting, evaluating and
finally documenting. Sometimes we can feel pressure to handle disruptive behaviours immediately.
Taking the time to understand the behaviour and to consider various options often results in a more
constructive resolution. After an event is past, taking the time to evaluate the effectiveness of our
response can help to improve our reaction in the next situation (Kuhlenschmidt Layne, 1999). During
my inquiry, I made questions about student behaviour and made assumptions. As an example student
behaviour during Friday, last period was really disruptive. I assumed, that may be their energy supply
is low or excitement about the weekend (mood). Discussion with teachers proved me this was a very
common experience. Research showed that It s natural for student attention levels to vary according to
motivation, mood, perceived relevance of the material, and other factors (Briggs, 2014). Based on my
understandings, knowledge, readings and other experts ideas, I developed an action plan for behaviour
management in year 8

maybe someone who wants to be a clown would find it interesting. Even if you don t want to be a

clowns and how people s view on them has changed over time. First, I will explain where clowns
came from and what they did back then, second, I will talk about the sad clown, and finally, I will talk
about scary clowns. I chose this topic because I used to be afraid of clowns, but eventually I grew out

The first sad clown to come about didn t even intend to be a sad clown. Charles Dickens wrote Joseph
Grimaldi s life story, which is what made people see him as sad. Grimaldi suffered from depression
after his first wife died during the birth of their son. When the son was thirty one years old, he passed
away because of alcoholism. During one of Grimaldi s slapstick routines, he injured and permanently
disabled himself. An infamous quote from Grimaldi says, I am grim all day, but I make you laugh at
night (Nadel). Charles Dickens wrote The Pickwick Papers in 1836 about a sad, alcoholic clown, a.k.a
Grimaldi s son (Little). Another sad clown in the media would include Weary Willie, a clown who
painted on a frown in the twentieth century rather than the traditional grin (Carlyon) A more modern
day famous clown, called Puddles Pity Party, sings songs and posts them on the website YouTube.
Another sad clown named Pierrot came from the Harlequin era. Pierrot s character has a sad, white
painted face and he wears loose clothing along with a small, french hat (Nadel). Even today, sad
clowns exist. Most people believe that comedians are funny to escape their sadness, and that their

Control In Ernest Gaines s A Lesson Before Dying
Control and its effect on entities based on observations of ENG3UT
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction Newton s third law. This law is just as
accurate for human interactions; for every content dominant man, there is a sad submissive man. The
symbolism used by Ernest Gaines, Henrik Ibsen, Ambrose Flack, and Isaac Asimov is used to show
how control over others, leads to sadness for the inferior person in the relationship. These corrupt
relationships are shown in A Lesson before Dying using the symbols, the broken books of the black
children, the electric chair and Pichot s kitchen, which help illustrate how groups in control, the
whites, will hurt subservient groups, the blacks. Nora s pet names, the children s maid, and Krogstad s
letters are symbols found in Doll s House and help show how one person who has control over another
is detrimental for the controled party. Finally, in the short stories, The Stranger That Came To Town
and The Fun They Had , symbols such as the soap bar that killed the fish, the amputations of the
Duvitch family and the slot used on the robot teacher, help show how a dominant society harms
individual in the minority.
In the book, A Lesson Before Dying, Ernest Gaines uses symbols to show how a dominant group can
oppress a minority group; whites control and harm blacks. One symbol he uses to express this
relationship is the broken textbooks of the black children. These books represent the dominance the
white have over the black educations, when the Teacher, Wiggins, tries to get better books, Many of
the books I have to use are hand me downs from the white schools, Dr. Joseph, [...] and they have
missing pages. How can I , the white inspector, Dr Joseph, quickly shuts him down, Are you
questioning me, Higgins? No, sir, Dr. Joseph. (Gaines 57) Wiggins does not have any control in this
situation, as shown with his submissiveness and Dr Joseph lack of care for his name. Due to this lack
of control, he cannot get better books. These books symbolise how the whites are treating the black
community, as lower and second class, they are only worthy of used and broken items from the
whites. The control over the black makes it that the children get a worst

Molar Mass Of Volatile Liquid Lab Report
Molar Mass of a Volatile Liquid
2.Objective We receive a unknown volatile liquid and try to find it s molar mass.In order to do this we
must know how to convert units of measurements and the formula required.
3.Introduction In order to do this experiment you must know certain terms and formulas. Molar mass
is defined as one mole of this substance. The molar mass is what we are trying to find. One equation
use d to find molar mass is MW=m/n. Another thing needed to know is the Ideal Gas Law. The
equation used for this is PV=nRT.

Safety Precautions One thing to make sure you do is clear you re table of book bags, food, clothing, etc.
I say this because we are working with chemicals and a hot plate which can be dangerous if theses

Japan Women
To understand all modern or early modern states in a general sense is almost impossible; therefore, a
narrowing down is necessary here. This paper discusses solely about Japan and China, assumed as
early modern in this specific context, and the position of women, particularly prostitutes, within them.
Drawn from Amy Stanley s Selling Women and Matthew H. Sommer s Sex, Law, and Society in Late
Imperial China, it addresses the differences and similarities between the women of China and Japan in
sex trade to elaborate how women were subject to the gendered order along socio economic changes.
At the first glance, women in China and Japan in the early modern stage were strikingly dissimilar.
One of the most conspicuous differences lies in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chinese women, if a commoner, were required to follow the social system which endowed sexual
monopoly of the husbands over the wives, whereas the situation of their Japanese counterparts is
similar in that the praising of indentured prostitutes who supported their families was a discourse to
help strengthen the patriarchal status system in early Tokugawa period. Certainly, the society changed
over time and so was the position of women within it. This is clearly seen in the expansion of sex
trade in Japan since the eighteenth century and the emancipation edict of jian status in 1723 in Qing
China. However, this does not mean that women were freed from the gendered social cage. As
Sommer contends, the edict reinforced the gendered stratum, implicated in that as all women were
categorized as commoners, they were ultimately evaluated by their sexual history . In the Japanese
case, Stanley argues that Japanese prostitutes were never really autonomous in economic terms. This
accusation of being economic autonomous agents by the local elites and peasants precisely evidences
the patriarchal anxiety to maintain the gendered order

Analysis Of `` A New Light ``
The latter part of our semester has been centered around Black feminists. Their work has been focused
on the ways in which the intersectionality of gender and sexuality influence the lives of women who
live under systems of oppression in the United States. These systems that deeply affect the way bodies
of color, Black women very specifically, are able to conduct their lives. Black women in particular, are
vulnerable to these systems in a way unlike any other body in America. Thinking back on the writings
of Beth E. Richie, Angela Davis, and Audre Lord, I now see Assata Shakur s Affirmation in a new
light. Affirmation is a poem that speaks to the pain and suffering Black bodies have endured, and even
through all of this pain, it speaks of optimism. I argue, that through the lens of Black feminism, we
can re examine many organizations and institutions in a way that can be truly be more inclusive of
people of all walks of life. If systems were created with regard for the most targeted groups of people
and not just the majority , we may truly see inclusive settings and we can benefit from the membership
of people from different races, class, gender identity, sexual orientation and age in these institutions.
In her autobiography, Assata Shakur said It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win.
We must love each other and support each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains. This leads
right into what I believe Affirmation is about. What I first

Public Health Leadership And Management
Final Essay
Public Health Leadership and Management
POPH90218
In relation to being required to improve the poor performance of a team of 40 staff working on a HIV
project in a developing country identify key leadership and management challenges and solutions, and
provide reasons/evidence to support the efficacy of your suggestions.
Introduction:
Regardless of context, positions of leadership and management inevitably come with their share of
challenges. In this essay I will examine the challenges of being appointed to improve the poor
performance of a team of forty staff working on a HIV project in a developing country. Following the
identification of each challenge I will present a series of effective, evidence based solutions.
Leadership will be defined as a process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and
support of others in the accomplishment of a common task (Chemers, 1997) and management will be
defined as the process of working with and through other people to accomplish the objectives of both
the organization and its members (Montana and Charnox, 2008)
It is important to recognise that public health problems are complex and can be vast in magnitude. By
nature health affects all populations, and therefore health leadership and management must consider
chain reactions into economic and social problems, as well as direct health outcomes.
Due to the enormity and complexity of public health leadership and management, this essay aims

Literary Realism Of The Iron Mills And The Yellow...
Literary realism s goal is to invoke compassion within its readers. By learning and experiencing
something of the characters lives in the story, one of the hopes for realism is that by invoking
sympathy within the reader, social injustice may be dealt with. Two examples that use form to reach
the end goal of compassion are Rebecca Harding Davis Life in the Iron Mills and The Yellow
Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Rebecca Harding Davis Life in the Iron Mills uses an
embedded narrative to tell the story of Deb and Hugh, and the daily struggles of Deb s life. Life in the
Iron Mills was written in 1861, two years prior to the Emancipation Proclamation. The goal of this
story is to feel compassion for those in the lower class and to attempt to change the structure of the
American class hierarchy. An unnamed middle class narrator begins the story by describing the town
in which the story takes place. It is described as a town filled with smoke;
The idiosyncrasy of this town is smoke. It rolls sullenly in slow folds from the great chimneys of the
iron foundries, and settles down in black, slimy pools on the muddy streets. Smoke on the wharves,
smoke on the dingy boats, on the yellow river clinging in a coating of greasy soot to the house front,
the two faded poplars, the faces of passers by (3).
Following the description of the hazardous town, the unnamed narrator then proceeds to tell the story
of Deb and Hugh, and how thirty years ago, Hugh was a furnace

The Negative Consequences of Discipline
One of the fundamental responsibilities of schools is to keep its students and teachers safe from harm
and violence. Over the years, this has meant applying zero tolerance policies, which have encouraged
and led to overcriminalization and the over intervention of the juvenile justice system. This correlation
between zero tolerance measures and the justice system has been termed school to prison pipeline .
Zero tolerance has, for the most part, worked; but do we like how it has worked? Although this policy
has some benefits, its biggest flaw is that it is disproportionately applied to minorities, a trend that is
largely reflected and reinforced in policies. From a legal perspective, many questions are raised as to
the constitutionality of applying punitive disciplinary measures to students, seeing that expulsions and
suspensions prohibit and limit student access to education. Consequently, micro level disciplinary
alternatives have been developed, which aim to rehabilitate offenders rather than punish them. These
alternatives offer a balance between discipline and the risk of overcriminalization, and include
counseling, anger management sessions, victim offender mediation, and peer judiciaries. One central
question that is raised throughout this discussion is the objective of the discipline; whether
disciplinary measures should be used to punish or embarrass students, or whether it needs to reinforce
and teach them why their behavior is wrong. This then relates to the

The Causes And Effects Of Marijuana
According to the United Nations, 158.8 million people around the world use marijuana that is more
than 3.8% of the planet s population (Marijuana statistics, 2017). These statistics indicate that
marijuana is frequently being used around the world without people knowing its positive and negative
effects. Marijuana is one of the most abused drugs in the world. There is an ever growing gap between
the latest science about marijuana and the myths surrounding it (drug facts, marijuana). A lot of people
around the world are still ignorant about marijuana and its uses. They do not even know about its
existence. Marijuana is a slow poison that deteriorates the body and the person consuming it loses the
ability to think about his own welfare. When a person loses the ability to think, that is when his
downfall starts. There are effective uses of marijuana, yet there are also serious issues that should be
considered and therefore, all this leads us to research more deeply into this matter and make all
possible efforts to understand the causes and effect of marijuana more effectively.
Marijuana can lead to a lot of genetic damage to our human body which can further result in other
ailments. Based on the results of an experimental study published in the journal Chemical Research in
Toxicology (2009), investigators reported that carcinogenic potential of marijuana is attributed to
compounds like acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde can change the structure of DNA in our body which can

General Review of Algorithms Presented for Image Segmentation
Image segmentation commonly known as partitioning of an image is one of the intrinsic parts of any
image processing technique. In this image pre processing step, the digital image of choice is
segregated into sets of pixels on the basis of some predefined and preselected measures or standards.
There have been presented many algorithms for segmenting a digital image. This paper presents a
general review of algorithms that have been presented for the purpose of image segmentation.
Segmenting or dividing a digital image into region of interests or meaningful structures in general
plays a momentous role in quite a few image processing tasks. Image analysis, image visualization,
object representation are some of them. The prime objective of segmenting a digital image is to
change its representation so that it looks more expressive for image analysis. During the course of
action in image segmentation, each and every pixel of the image segmentation is assigned a label or
value. The pixels that share the same value also share homogeneous traits. The examples can include
color, texture, intensity or some other features. Image segmentation can be defined as the technique to
divide the an image f (x, y) into a non empty subset f1, f2, ...., fn which is continuous and
disconnected. This step contributes in feature extraction. There are quite a few applications where
image segmentation plays a pivotal role. These applications vary from image filtering, face
recognition, medical imaging

Essay on Conformity and Political Control
The political system in the United States of America is ruled by a two party system that is currently
fighting for control of the economy and government. In the last century the country has been involved
in several conflicts including two world wars and the cold war, which permanently instilled fear and
terror in the American psyche. After the terrorist attacks of September 11th, the economy was brought
to the edge of failure leaving a bi partisan political system with the attitude that there is either a
democratic or republican solution to the many problems Americans face as a nation. Due to the fact
that there is so much at stake, both political parties have resorted to tactics that prey on the fact that
human beings usually conform to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a generalization of the effect, but this geo political representation can also be shown on a
smaller or larger scale. Residents of small towns usually affiliate with the same political party and the
majority residents of a larger region will usually affiliate with the same party. This is where the idea of
the conservative south or liberal north comes from. The fact that people automatically conform to
those around them has negative repercussions in more than one political arena. The idea that people
conform to political affiliations regionally affects the way the House of Representative re draws their
district lines. This happens so frequently on the state and federal level that that practice has actually
been termed gerrymandering. Unfortunately the practice of gerrymandering practically undermines the
political process in America emphasizing the importance of which party has the majority in The House
of Representatives and taking focus away from their socio economical principles. The lawmakers of
this country utilize the fact that people will automatically conform to others around them to their
advantage creating a political system that is not truly democratic.
Politicians of both parties also take advantage of the fact that people are likely to conform due to
normative influences. Normative influences lead people to conform due to the fear or backlash of
others (Kassin, 2011, p.258).

Latin American Culture Report
The Latin American Student Association, or LASA, is the club on campus that promotes Latin
American Culture here at St. Cloud State University. When I found them at mainstreet I was really
surprised they were such a large club. Coming into school, I didn t expect to find such a large
community of Latin Americans. Let alone a whole club. Coming from a state where Latin culture is
almost integrated into everyday life, it was a big shift to come up here. Having a club like LASA helps
me not only to connect to my culture and keep it alive while I m at school. It also allows me to keep a
slice of home with me. Going to meetings, it feels like a family gathering because we all can relate to
one another in some way. The cultural event I went to was the LASA Latin Fusion Night. It was their
big kick off for the year. They had Latin music and food, and it gave people the chance to experience a
culture they might have never. It was held in the quarry of Atwood and it was packed when I got there.
I got there a little late, but I was still able to enjoy all that they had to offer. It s one thing to listen to
music and eat with friends, but when you re doing it with people who share this ... Show more content

Cloud State University is such a wonderful place for people to explore other cultures. The
international student community is so massive and it gives students to meet new people. Coming from
a diverse place, I felt that I came into college with a good understanding for other people s cultures. I
ve been abroad and have been thrown into situations where I didn t feel comfortable and had to adapt.
However, in being here for two months, I ve met people from places I d thought I d never get to meet.
It s so crazy of how diverse this school is, and I hope that I never stop being able to explore other
people s cultures. Organizations like the Latin American Student Association allow students to be able
to expand their world view while growing their own personal

Literature Review On Impression Management
1. Literature Review
For the purpose of this review, the following section has been broken down into the following three
areas:
1.1 What are the origins of impression management?
1.2 How is impression management applied in corporate reporting?
1.3 Why is impression management used as a means of corporate communication?
Each area will look to assimilate the key items of literature from relevant and appropriate sources
surrounding the fundamental theories and practices of impression management. In doing so, this
review will form the required basis to critically evaluate both the use of impression management in the
context of the 2016 EU Referendum as well as the overall ethicality of the practice.
1.1 What are the origins of impression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of the taxonomies and methodologies reviewed, four key perspectives on impression management
stand out: Economic, Psychological, Sociological and Critical. Combined, these perspectives of
impression management have defined the majority of academic research undertaken by scholars and
organisations alike (Brennan, Vourvachis, Merkl Davies, 2013). In doing so, they have aligned several
other noteworthy concepts which underpin impression management including legitimacy, signalling,
agency, institutional and stakeholder theories.
Conclusively, it is clear that impression management in practice allows for many opportunities of
manipulation not so dissimilar to Goffman s actor vs. audience analogy. And while this manipulation
itself could be seen to some as encouraging acts of sophism, to others it provides a useful
methodology of communicating potentially sensitive items to audiences of an increasingly volatility .
1.2 How is impression management applied in corporate reporting?
Having confirmed the origins of impression management, it is reasonable to say that the theory can be
applied as a tool which aids in the manipulation and interpretation of all the data types contained
within the communicative medium of a corporate report. Furthermore, we can deduce

The aspect of supportive environments focuses on sociocultural, physical, political and economic
influences on health. An example of creating a supportive environment for young people is the
National binge drinking strategy (2008). This strategy s aim is to raise awareness of the harms and
costs associated with intoxication. * Road accidents (and death/severe injury); * Alcohol related
violence (as a perpetrator, a victim or a witness); * Trauma related admissions to hospital emergency
departments; * Unsafe sex and risk of a sexually transmitted infection (STI) and/or unwanted

  • 2. Essay on John Hersey s Hiroshima John Hersey s Hiroshima In John Hersey s Hiroshima, he based his book upon the one perspective that, the bombing of Hiroshima was an act of inhumanity. What Hersey failed to do was to give the perspective of the Americans. Hersey did not account for the Pearl Harbor bombing of 1941 or the death march in the Japanese Bataan Camps in 1942. Without giving both perspectives, Hersey does not give the reader a fair chance to form their own opinion; instead, the reader is swayed into Hersey s bias beliefs of the event. Hersey s Hiroshima was originally an article written for The New Yorker Magazine in order to help a reader identity with deceased and survivors of the Hiroshima s bombing (The New Yorker). One scientist from the Manhattan Project, the creators of the atomic bomb, in response to Hersey s article in the New Yorker wrote, I am filled with such shame to recall the whoopee spirit, at the announcement of bombing Hiroshima (The New Yorker). This type of reaction, after reading Hersey s vivid work on the Hiroshima bombing, is understandable and expected. What Hersey failed to do was to give the other perspective, of why America took these actions against Hiroshima? The two major historic events that Hersey failed to mention were the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the death march at the Bataan Camps. These two instances show the attacks that Japan made against America. December 7, 1941, Japan performed a surprise attack on America at Pearl Harbor. According to Japanese feudal code of honor, the idea of a surprise is recommended and it raises no moral problems (Sulzberger 146). During Japan s attack, they broke the seal of trust. Japan s Ambassador and Diplomatic agent were in Washington pretending to have been seeking a negotiated settlement between the two countries (Sulzberger 146). America lost over 3,000 service men from this bombing. This type of betrayal could only cause anger and determination to strike back. The death march at the Japanese Bataan Camp, of April 1942, Japanese officers enslaved about 75,000 men, 12,000 of which were American soldiers (Bergamini 1168). • 4. Famine Affluence And Morality By Peter Singer Summary The article, Famine, Affluence, and Morality by Peter Singer highlights the death and suffering that occurred in East Bengal in 1971 due to lack of food, shelter, and medical care (Singer 231). The author points out that poverty, civil war, and a cyclone all combined to make the situation worse for about nine million people inhabiting the area at the time, but if the richer nations came in and provided assistance, further suffering would have been alleviated. This essay provides an argument as to why famine victims should be given aid and explains how doing so affects our understanding of the distinction between charity and duty. It also offers a critique of Singer s argument based on John Arthur s idea of just deserts from his article entitled Famine relief and the Ideal Moral Code. Why we should aid famine victims Singer s main argument in Famine, Affluence, and Morality, is that the manner in which we conduct ourselves morally needs to change. The author holds that if it is within our power to prevent a bad event from taking place without sacrificing anything else of moral importance, or without causing something equally bad to happen, then we are morally obligated to react and prevent it (Singer 231). According to him, we all have the power and the means to prevent bad situations from affecting people across the world no matter how helpless we feel. Singer provides an example where a person is placed in a situation where they can prevent something bad from happening ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Summary Of The Shawl By Louise Erdrich The Shawl by Louise Erdrich Among the Anishinaabeg on the road where I live, it is told how a woman loved a man other than her husband and went off into the bush and bore his child. Her name was Aanakwad, which means cloud, and like a cloud she was changeable. She was moody and sullen one moment, her lower lip jutting and her eyes flashing, filled with storms. The next, she would shake her hair over her face and blow it straight out in front of her to make her children scream with laughter. For she also had two children by her husband, one a yearning boy of five years and the other a capable daughter of nine. When Aanakwad brought the new baby out of the trees that autumn, the older girl was like a second mother, even waking in the night to clean the baby and nudge it to her mother s breast. Aanakwad slept through its cries, hardly woke. It wasn t that she didn t love her baby; no, it was the opposite she loved it too much, the way she loved its father, and not her husband. This passion ate away at her, and her feelings were unbearable. If she could have thrown off that wronghearted love, she would have, but the thought of the other man, who lived across the lake, was with her always. She became a gray sky, stared monotonously at the walls, sometimes wept into her hands for hours at a time. Soon, she couldn t rise to cook or keep the cabin neat, and it was too much for the girl, who curled up each night exhausted in her red and brown plaid shawl, and slept and slept, until ... Few reporters ever came back to Vietnam to live there and describe day to day life in Vietnam after the war. Under the control of Communist rulers and an embargo from the US, Vietnam was almost isolated from the western world between 1975 and the very late eighties (one can recognize a similar pattern in North Korea now). It is also necessary to take into account the communicative skill gaps that exist and what type of interpersonal skills are needed, and this is especially true in the ` context of decision making vis a vis strategic alliances, for example (Trim and Lee, 2003). What needs to be understood, however, is how individuals from different cultures relate to people from outside their cultural value system. The key issues which surface are issues such as the appropriate way in which to communicate within the organisation s hierarchy, and if necessary, how to communicate with government representatives. Therefore, training and staff development personnel in international organisations need to identify which ` type of simulation exercises will be most suitable for training staff vis a vis careers in an international organisational setting. The use of this simile is extremely important because rubber wears out if it is constantly being used to move the vehicle which causes friction. Likewise, the girl s good nature was in constant employment because of people constantly bullying her about her appearance, that it wore out and finally snapped. She stops wanting to live because her good nature was keeping her life going so once it was gone so was her life. • 14. The World Of The Gospels A Miracle Miracle stories were accepted by ancient people as possible. The divine interacted with human kind. This contrasts with the contemporary scepticism about the sacred or the possibility of miracles. In the light of scientific, data driven, technological preoccupation, miracles seem to be unnecessary. The gap between humankind and the divine has widened to the point of being irrelevant, unnecessary or non existent. However, in the world of the gospels a miracle was anything that caused people to wonder (Latin miraculum to wonder; mirari to wonder at) or be in awe. According to John Meier (A marginal Jew, Vol 2:512) a miracle is an unusual startling or extraordinary event that is in principle perceivable by any interested and fair minded observer, and event that finds no reasonable explanation in human abilities or in other known forces that operate in our world of time and space and an event that is the result of a special act of God, doing what no human power can do . There are two elements to a miracle one which causes wonder, one that is extraordinary phenomenon that is inexplicable in terms of familiar, everyday causation. This is ascribe to a superhuman force. What demarcates the extraordinary varies from people to people, culture to culture and age to age. In the NT miracle accounts are not unique in the Greco Roman world. Terrorism, according to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, is the unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons (Follendore). Terrorism was more myth than reality for most Americans until the attack of 9/11. The act of terrorism is meant to subdue societies with fear but it is impossible to instill fear without tools. Without capital, terrorists are unable to act; even terrorists are reliant upon money. Since their country of origin dislikes most terrorist groups, it is hard to set up businesses and become successful independently so an outside income source is required. Drugs and drug trafficking are huge moneymakers that are also tax free. The drug trade is cash based and full of money. • 22. Control In Ernest Gaines s A Lesson Before Dying Control and its effect on entities based on observations of ENG3UT For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction Newton s third law. This law is just as accurate for human interactions; for every content dominant man, there is a sad submissive man. The symbolism used by Ernest Gaines, Henrik Ibsen, Ambrose Flack, and Isaac Asimov is used to show how control over others, leads to sadness for the inferior person in the relationship. These corrupt relationships are shown in A Lesson before Dying using the symbols, the broken books of the black children, the electric chair and Pichot s kitchen, which help illustrate how groups in control, the whites, will hurt subservient groups, the blacks. Nora s pet names, the children s maid, and Krogstad s letters are symbols found in Doll s House and help show how one person who has control over another is detrimental for the controled party. Finally, in the short stories, The Stranger That Came To Town and The Fun They Had , symbols such as the soap bar that killed the fish, the amputations of the Duvitch family and the slot used on the robot teacher, help show how a dominant society harms individual in the minority. In the book, A Lesson Before Dying, Ernest Gaines uses symbols to show how a dominant group can oppress a minority group; whites control and harm blacks. One symbol he uses to express this relationship is the broken textbooks of the black children. These books represent the dominance the white have over the black educations, when the Teacher, Wiggins, tries to get better books, Many of the books I have to use are hand me downs from the white schools, Dr. Joseph, [...] and they have missing pages. How can I , the white inspector, Dr Joseph, quickly shuts him down, Are you questioning me, Higgins? No, sir, Dr. Joseph. (Gaines 57) Wiggins does not have any control in this situation, as shown with his submissiveness and Dr Joseph lack of care for his name. Due to this lack of control, he cannot get better books. These books symbolise how the whites are treating the black community, as lower and second class, they are only worthy of used and broken items from the whites. This paper discusses solely about Japan and China, assumed as early modern in this specific context, and the position of women, particularly prostitutes, within them. Drawn from Amy Stanley s Selling Women and Matthew H. Sommer s Sex, Law, and Society in Late Imperial China, it addresses the differences and similarities between the women of China and Japan in sex trade to elaborate how women were subject to the gendered order along socio economic changes. At the first glance, women in China and Japan in the early modern stage were strikingly dissimilar. One of the most conspicuous differences lies in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chinese women, if a commoner, were required to follow the social system which endowed sexual monopoly of the husbands over the wives, whereas the situation of their Japanese counterparts is similar in that the praising of indentured prostitutes who supported their families was a discourse to help strengthen the patriarchal status system in early Tokugawa period. Certainly, the society changed over time and so was the position of women within it. This is clearly seen in the expansion of sex trade in Japan since the eighteenth century and the emancipation edict of jian status in 1723 in Qing China. However, this does not mean that women were freed from the gendered social cage. As Sommer contends, the edict reinforced the gendered stratum, implicated in that as all women were categorized as commoners, they were ultimately evaluated by their sexual history . In the Japanese case, Stanley argues that Japanese prostitutes were never really autonomous in economic terms. Their work has been focused on the ways in which the intersectionality of gender and sexuality influence the lives of women who live under systems of oppression in the United States. These systems that deeply affect the way bodies of color, Black women very specifically, are able to conduct their lives. Black women in particular, are vulnerable to these systems in a way unlike any other body in America. Thinking back on the writings of Beth E. Richie, Angela Davis, and Audre Lord, I now see Assata Shakur s Affirmation in a new light. Affirmation is a poem that speaks to the pain and suffering Black bodies have endured, and even through all of this pain, it speaks of optimism. I argue, that through the lens of Black feminism, we can re examine many organizations and institutions in a way that can be truly be more inclusive of people of all walks of life. If systems were created with regard for the most targeted groups of people and not just the majority , we may truly see inclusive settings and we can benefit from the membership of people from different races, class, gender identity, sexual orientation and age in these institutions. Two examples that use form to reach the end goal of compassion are Rebecca Harding Davis Life in the Iron Mills and The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Rebecca Harding Davis Life in the Iron Mills uses an embedded narrative to tell the story of Deb and Hugh, and the daily struggles of Deb s life. Life in the Iron Mills was written in 1861, two years prior to the Emancipation Proclamation. The goal of this story is to feel compassion for those in the lower class and to attempt to change the structure of the American class hierarchy. An unnamed middle class narrator begins the story by describing the town in which the story takes place. It is described as a town filled with smoke; The idiosyncrasy of this town is smoke. It rolls sullenly in slow folds from the great chimneys of the iron foundries, and settles down in black, slimy pools on the muddy streets. Smoke on the wharves, smoke on the dingy boats, on the yellow river clinging in a coating of greasy soot to the house front, the two faded poplars, the faces of passers by (3). • 31. The Negative Consequences of Discipline One of the fundamental responsibilities of schools is to keep its students and teachers safe from harm and violence. Over the years, this has meant applying zero tolerance policies, which have encouraged and led to overcriminalization and the over intervention of the juvenile justice system. This correlation between zero tolerance measures and the justice system has been termed school to prison pipeline . Zero tolerance has, for the most part, worked; but do we like how it has worked? Although this policy has some benefits, its biggest flaw is that it is disproportionately applied to minorities, a trend that is largely reflected and reinforced in policies. From a legal perspective, many questions are raised as to the constitutionality of applying punitive disciplinary measures to students, seeing that expulsions and suspensions prohibit and limit student access to education. Consequently, micro level disciplinary alternatives have been developed, which aim to rehabilitate offenders rather than punish them. These alternatives offer a balance between discipline and the risk of overcriminalization, and include counseling, anger management sessions, victim offender mediation, and peer judiciaries. One central question that is raised throughout this discussion is the objective of the discipline; whether disciplinary measures should be used to punish or embarrass students, or whether it needs to reinforce and teach them why their behavior is wrong. In this image pre processing step, the digital image of choice is segregated into sets of pixels on the basis of some predefined and preselected measures or standards. There have been presented many algorithms for segmenting a digital image. This paper presents a general review of algorithms that have been presented for the purpose of image segmentation. Segmenting or dividing a digital image into region of interests or meaningful structures in general plays a momentous role in quite a few image processing tasks. Image analysis, image visualization, object representation are some of them. The prime objective of segmenting a digital image is to change its representation so that it looks more expressive for image analysis. During the course of action in image segmentation, each and every pixel of the image segmentation is assigned a label or value. The pixels that share the same value also share homogeneous traits. The examples can include color, texture, intensity or some other features. Image segmentation can be defined as the technique to divide the an image f (x, y) into a non empty subset f1, f2, ...., fn which is continuous and disconnected. The idea that people conform to political affiliations regionally affects the way the House of Representative re draws their district lines. • 40. Latin American Culture Report The Latin American Student Association, or LASA, is the club on campus that promotes Latin American Culture here at St. Cloud State University. When I found them at mainstreet I was really surprised they were such a large club. Coming into school, I didn t expect to find such a large community of Latin Americans. Let alone a whole club. Coming from a state where Latin culture is almost integrated into everyday life, it was a big shift to come up here. Having a club like LASA helps me not only to connect to my culture and keep it alive while I m at school. It also allows me to keep a slice of home with me. Going to meetings, it feels like a family gathering because we all can relate to one another in some way. The cultural event I went to was the LASA Latin Fusion Night. It was their big kick off for the year. They had Latin music and food, and it gave people the chance to experience a culture they might have never. It was held in the quarry of Atwood and it was packed when I got there. I got there a little late, but I was still able to enjoy all that they had to offer. It s one thing to listen to music and eat with friends, but when you re doing it with people who share this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each area will look to assimilate the key items of literature from relevant and appropriate sources surrounding the fundamental theories and practices of impression management. In doing so, this review will form the required basis to critically evaluate both the use of impression management in the context of the 2016 EU Referendum as well as the overall ethicality of the practice. 1.1 What are the origins of impression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of the taxonomies and methodologies reviewed, four key perspectives on impression management stand out: Economic, Psychological, Sociological and Critical. Combined, these perspectives of impression management have defined the majority of academic research undertaken by scholars and organisations alike (Brennan, Vourvachis, Merkl Davies, 2013). In doing so, they have aligned several other noteworthy concepts which underpin impression management including legitimacy, signalling, agency, institutional and stakeholder theories. Conclusively, it is clear that impression management in practice allows for many opportunities of manipulation not so dissimilar to Goffman s actor vs. audience analogy. And while this manipulation itself could be seen to some as encouraging acts of sophism, to others it provides a useful methodology of communicating potentially sensitive items to audiences of an increasingly volatility . 1.2 How is impression management applied in corporate reporting? Having confirmed the origins of impression management, it is reasonable to say that the theory can be applied as a tool which aids in the manipulation and interpretation of all the data types contained within the communicative medium of a corporate report. Furthermore, we can deduce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
