Future Colony On Mars
The future colony on Mars will need to have an intelligent use of local resources (Zubrin3, 2) from
the planet s surface, have excellent crew morale and compatibility, and be entirely self sufficient.
This type of colony is imperative because of the fact that resupply spacecraft from Earth take
several months to reach Mars, and precision landings, where rockets are used to guide a
descending spacecraft very near a targeted object, or location, are extremely difficult. In addition
the base would to not be allowed to use, or utilize NASA s 90 Day Report program as a stepping
stone because, [b]efore humans could go to Mars, the report said, the nation would need a space

They will grow the food for the population aboard the base, and a small section of it will be used
for biological research. Tending to the plants has been shown as a way for astronauts to deal with
stress. Using regolith from Mars it is possible to farm and extract water. The greenhouses will use
mostly Martian regolith, mixed with some Earth soil, to introduce the bacteria and other
microscopic organisms necessary for life, and water to allow the organisms to inundate the
Martian soil. They will produce all the food for the colony and 80% of its oxygen, and will be
crucial for reducing carbon dioxide into hydrocarbons (plant matter and tissues), and oxygen.
Because of their beneficial qualities, both for crew survival and morale they will be set up on the
base, research outposts, and any other manned station on

Comparison Of University Vs. Liberty University
Even though Liberty and Regent University may have similar belief systems in terms of religion,
the class and campus sizes are different. Liberty is a much larger university, but the teachers are
less personable. According to Liberty University s central website, Liberty s campus covers more
than 7,000 acres (Liberty Liberty University). I find it important to attend a university that has a
large campus enough campus that students can get away and have space to study or to think if
needed. The student to professor ratio at Liberty University for residential undergraduates is 24 to
1 (Liberty Liberty University). Considering Liberty is such a large university, this ratio seems to
be an appropriate size. This ratio is right around what I am... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

basketball, cross country, football, and a variety of other sports. Liberty s central website
affirms that there have been [o]ver 100 teams with NCAA championships appearances (Liberty
Liberty University). Furthermore, Liberty s website points out that Liberty offers 37 Club
Sports teams (Liberty Liberty University). Clubs and sports are an essential part of the college
experience. It is important to me that I go to a university that offers a wide variety of activities to
do both on and off campus. Other than sports, Liberty University has drama, musical theater,
choral groups, and musical ensembles ( Liberty College Board). I think Liberty offers an
exceptional number of sports and clubs, which is important to me. Then there is Regent which
does not offer a single NCAA sports, but it offers co ed intramural sports and a wider variety of
activities to pursue nearby off campus. Regent University s website states, Regent and the Office of
Student Activities Leadership offer more than 50 chartered student organizations (Regent Regent

to the Hispanic Law Students Association. Regent not only offers a wide variety of activities to fit
its diverse population, but Regent also offers numerous intramural co ed sports. Regent s website

Most Important Piece Of Communication
Important Issues in the Organization
After reviewing the case study, the single most important piece of communication in the collection
of calls, memos and letters is the letter from Sally J. Rinehold of the Multigreen Assets Foundation.
The letter states that a member of the professional staff requested a $21,000 for research when the
Multigreen Assets Foundation already pledged a grant two years ago for capital improvements.
Rinehold mentions a few facts in the letter that cause concern for both the structure of the
professional staffing of the Loquium Institute and where the initial grant money went. The
Multigreen Assets Foundation has not received any updates on the progress of the capital project
and it is apparent that staff have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

First Order of Business
Due to the fact the president of the Loquium Institute is out of town until Friday, the first act as
development director is setting up a meeting with Charles Davenport, the President of the Board of
Trustees and Julia Smithe a board member and the only acting member of the development
committee. Davenport and Smithe are the only members of the Board of Trustees who are actively
engaged in the Loquium Institute and its mission. Since they are active in the involvement of the
organization and fundraising they will have information regarding how the organization operates
and perhaps ideas on how to best move forward with engaging the other board members to
participate more in the organization. Temple et. al. (2011) states that it is important to have an
involved and committed governing board, prepared to make personally significant commitments of
time and fund (pg. 82). It is vital to having the entire board actively engaged in order to move
forward with the capital campaign the president wants to initiate.
Ethical Issues There are a few potential ethical issues at hand in the case study. One previously
mentioned was the instance of the request for an additional grant from the Multigreen Assets
Foundation of $21,000. Once the development director meets with the President of the Board

Red Hunting Hat Catcher In The Rye
A lack of communication and friends can prove to be what causes someone to find out who he
or she really is. In the beginning of The Catcher in the Rye, Salinger introduces the red hunting
hat when Holden gets back from the schools fencing match in New York. Holden purchases this
hat after he leaves the equipment they needed in order to participate in the match on the subway.
In a way, he buys the hat to make up for what he did and to calm himself when he is caught in a
situation. Anytime Holden feels alone or upset, he uses the hat as a source of comfort or protection
from the world. In the novel The Catcher in the Rye, JD Salinger uses Alienation to demonstrate
the idea that it can make people show who they really are or be more comfortable with themselves.

Holden doesn t need the hat anymore a source of his protection and identity because he thinks
that Phoebe needs the hat more than him. Holden wants phoebe to be protected from the
dangers of growing up and losing innocence, so he tells her to keep it. Salinger writes, Then I
took my hunting hat out of my coat pocket and gave it to her. She likes those kinds of crazy hats.
(97) Holden knows that alienation is what represents what little stability there is in his life and
that he never addresses his emotions head on, but he chooses to hide from them. Holden doesn t
need to protect himself anymore because he knows who he is and that the red hunting hat will
not change him as a person. Holden also realizes that while he wants to have connections,
alienation is what separates the two and causes problems. He starts to lose the fear of what other
people think of him due to the growing fear that phoebe will get hurt one day. He gives the hat to
phoebe as a means of protection for when she grows up and faces challenges in life instead of using
the hat as a means of a source of protection for

Patrick Poib s Igloos
Patrick Poib is a fun loving little polar bear. Patrick lives in Greenland in the icy cold tundra with
his mother Polly Poib, and his dad, Pete Poib. In their little igloo they play around, eat and sleep,
but when they are not in their igloo they are out cloud gazing, on the weekends. They always eat
either fresh caught fish for all of their meals, or they eat yummy Eskimos that hunt caribous. Polly
and Pete have the same job, they re igloobuilders. Polly designs the houses, and Pete builds them.
Patrick goes to school and walks home or takes the sled with his friend Linda the lemming. The
Poibs, at the end of the day, meet up in their igloo and eat lunch all together.
One day a strange thing happened, more than strange, it was almost something that has never
happened in Greenland; Patrick s house started to melt. It was during summer, which is not very
hot though, but still sunny, but this has never happened before. Greenland s normal temperature
outside is 27В° Celsius to 5В° Celsius; it is always cold! Now the sun is getting even stronger,
and it has reached the highest it has ever been in Greenland! It was during the night when
Patrick s igloo started melting, the first sign of it was the water dripping from the ceiling; it only
dripped on Patrick, but he ignored it. The next night Patrick was soaking wet and his home was
wearing out and barely had a ceiling anymore; the Poib family woke up in the middle of the night,

Rorschach Test And Its Impact On The Field Of Psychology
Abstract
The Rorschach test, used first in 1918, has been the center of much controversy in the field of
psychology. This particular test uses print inkblots in order to test many factors within clients based
on how they answer when asked about the pictures. Although Hermann Rorschach never made it
known where he got the idea for the Rorschach test, it is believed it was inspired by the game Blotto,
which was a game which used inkblots. The Rorschach test was originally used to test patients with
schizophrenia during which Rorschach discovered that these patients responded significantly in a
different way from others without schizophrenia. Later, Rorschach began working more with the
test using forty inkblots in his original studies but only using fifteen of them commonly with his
clients. Today, this test is used by highly trained professionals who are studying personality based
on scoring clients answers to questions about the inkblots. (Framingham, 2016)
History of the Rorschach Test
The Rorschach test, which was first administered in 1918, is one of the most controversial
psychological tests in the history of psychology. This particular test uses print inkblots in order to

Frame-Relay

Unit 3
Kaplan University

Professor Jeffrey Robinson
August 20, 2013 Abstract
In this discussion we look at some of the history around frame relay. We then look at some of the
equipment necessary to create the frame relay connections, as well as how the connections work
both logically and physically. Some limiting factors are discussed as well as committed
information rates, burst rates, an error handling. Some of the positive aspects of frame relay are
identified along with some options for the future of WAN technologies.
Frame Relay
Operating at the physical and datalink layers of the OSI model, frame relay is a high performing
WAN protocol. It was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This allows frame relay to provide a low cost of ownership while adhering to standards and
internetworking with other services. A highly reliable WAN may be achieved through frame relay
and a good service level agreement (SLA) from the provider.
Frame relay can be thought of as a simple principle because it allows the higher level protocols to
deal with many of the problems. Although, it can include optional features such as congestion
notification and signaling mechanisms. Ideally, a committed information rate (CIR) is selected
that best meets the needs of the customer. This is the maximum burst rate, which when exceeded
can cause the frames to be discard eligible (DE). In reality, the nature of frame relay allows all
bits to be discard eligible, but the error correction is handled by the upper layers. Some
configurations allow speeds to burst above the CIR, but never more than the physical capacity of
the circuit. The DLCI is the connection identifier for the PVC in the connection oriented datalink
protocol that is frame relay. By switching variable length frames, statistical multiplexing is
achieved. Even though frame relay may be susceptible to traffic delays it can still be optimized for
delay sensitive traffic such as voice over IP.
Because the frame relay path is known, it is used to connect the customer premises equipment
(CPE) to the frame relay switch. The LMI keep alive signaling happens

carried out with some critical evaluation of the researched arguments for and against the
effectiveness of Person Centred Counselling.

themselves and others. The client centred point of view sees people as basically forward thinking,

relationship. (4) The therapist

The stories of Decameron IV, 1 5 and Decameron V, 4 have contrasting endings. The disparities of
the endings are due to the relationship between social classes and family acceptance. These
significant factors led to Decameron IV, 1 5 having a tragic ending. These two stories involved
lovers being separated by family members due to social rankings. In Decameron V, 4 the opposite
occurred; the father accepted the relationship because the family of the individual was distinguished

Achilles Hero Behavior Cycle in the Iliad Essay
The Ancient Greeks admired their heroes and tried to learn from both their achievements and
their mistakes. They believed that most great leaders and warriors followed a predictable
behavior cycle, which often ended tragically. In Homer s epic poem, The Iliad, Achilles is a great
warrior who traces the stages of the behavior cycle twice, from arete to hubris to ate and then to
nemesis. Achillesis a highly skilled warrior and a great leader who becomes a narcissist and an
arrogant person, which leads to selfish and childish behavior resulting in the death of his best

for doing the great deed he did. Achilles fought Hector for honor over all else and performed the

All of us go though a period of discovery of our identities. The novel Invisible Man, by Ralph

search of his identity. He considers himself to be invisible because people refuse to see him for his
individuality and intelligence..The narrator in the novel Invisible Manis invisible to others and to

Ellison also supports his claim when he refers to their dirty ears, the dirt symbolizing the racist trash

is truly blind to the white oppression that controls his life. He lets himself be ridiculed by turning
into a puppet for the white crowd for entertainment purposes. Still, he holds onto the assumption
that if he degrades himself, he will be rewarded in the end. As a result, the narrator does not advance
in his journey to find his identity, but rather degrades himself even more and makes himself
dependent on other s opinions. Furthermore, the narrator appears invisible to others and to himself
during his time as a member of the Brotherhood, an organization that appears in the novel as a

A Critical Incident At The Dunmore Senior Center
Context of the incident
This report will outline a critical incident which occurred in 2014 at the Dunmore Senior Center.
The incident narrated by the executive director of the center Jeanne Hugenbruch. The incident was
initiated by the secretary and one of the senior members, when two of the seniors started arguing
angrily and loudly with each other. At that day, fortuitously the executive directorwas not at the
center which made the secretary the person who was in charge to handle the issue.
Details of the incident
Before lunch time, all seniors at the Dunmore Senior Center were having free time to do whatever
they wanted. There were a group of elders who preferred to play cards at that time. On this specific
day, the executive director of the center was not available, and the authority was given to the
secretary. While she was sitting in her office, she heard loud noises coming from the main hall. She
went out of her office to check what happened when she found two of the seniors arguing with each
other. The activities administrator was with them, and she almost contained the situation.
The secretary tried to help by calming down both of the women and to try to understand what they
were disputing about. They were arguing about who won the hand during the card game. After
listening to both sides of the story, the secretary played the role of judge and sided with one of the
women. This made the other women became very angry, and she left before eating her lunch.

Summary Of Powhatan Genocide
Disease and Genocide
All through American history, diverse sorts of warfare from different landmasses have settled in
this country. By the seventeenth century, the measure of English pioneers had expanded hugely,
while the Indian pilgrims who were Indian boss, Powhatan, had diminished from 14,000 to 600.
More than 95 percent of Powhatan s pioneers was eliminated because of the diminishing in
populace of the Indian pilgrims. The creator of this section clarifies how, because of the differing
qualities, the measure of tribes and pioneers that got away and were annihilated was high and it had
a negative effect on them.

Definition Of True Beauty Essay
Tyler Bennett Professor Chad Brodbeck ENC 1101 Composition 1 31 October 2017 True Beauty
When asked to describe beauty, one s initial response is to comment on physical attributes such as
hair, eyes, and facial structure. Rarely will the answer entail traits such as selflessness and
intelligence. Merriam Webster defines beauty as the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or
thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit. Inner and outer
beauty stimulates the mind in some way. Many believe physical attributes define beauty, yet one
cannot exemplify true beauty without the harmony of personality, interaction, and physical
attributes. Architecturally speaking, Vitruvius emphasizes that Order is the balanced adjustment of
the details of the work separately, and as to the whole, the arrangement of the proportion with a
view to a symmetrical result (Vitruvius 26 27). Vitruvius was a Roman architect who wrote the
book De architectura, which many architects used for their own work in Rome. As seen in his
works, symmetry appears often. Another philosopher, who goes by the name of Plotinus, asserts
that: Almost everyone declares that the symmetry of parts towards each other and towards a whole,
with, besides, a certain charm of colour, constitutes the beauty recognized by the eye, that in visible
things, as indeed in all else, universally, the beautiful thing is essentially symmetrical, patterned.

Medusa Essay
Medusa was a victim and not a villan. Medusa was not born an ugly, cruel lady with snakes as

Medusa was a girl who was missunderstood.
Before Medusa became cursed, she was a normal woman who lived in Athens, Greece. She was a

The Role Of Sports For Athletes And Women Athletes
Marketisation and commoditisation provide leverage for powerful nations to assert their
dominance over their sport competitors by, for instance, buying their best athletes from the
dominated countries and sometimes offering those athletes citizenship. There are instances when
international corporate entities sponsor and own clubs in other countries, make all management
decisions, and secure profits which they return to their home countries thereby leaving host
countries further impoverished (Nauright 2012:54).The above global pattern has not favored most
womens national and local teams as most corporate entities prefer to sponsor national mens teams.

Local leagues face serious challenges due to inability to raise funds as a result of reduced
quality of play resulting in poor stadium attendance that mean fewer facilities, and as indicated
earlier, this lack of facilities has a trickle down effect on accessibility of facilities for women in
sports. Due to globalisation, national teams go into a stage of dependent development an example
is the English soccer teams as a result of the presence of foreign players in the league system
denying most of the local clubs eventually has a negative effect the national team (Maguire
2013:200).
Globalisation has also impacted on local sport participation by way of administrative practices. For
example, Carter (2002) documents the rise of global administrative bodies (such as FIFA and OIC)
and FIVF (Vanderhoof 2011) that oversee and regulate various sports. Similarly, MacAloon (1984)

Charles Lindbergh Aviation History
The aviation history started in 1783 with an inedited public demonstration by the Montgolfier
brothers. They constructed the first lighter than air, a hot air balloon which brought new ideas in
the course of time ( Museum of Flight, 1965). In 1900, the first Zeppelin airship was built by
Ferdinand Zeppelin. After two years, an important person who would be noteworthy in the aviation
history would be born, named Charles Augustus Lindbergh. Lindbergh was an American man, who
turned fall in love by aviation since he was young. On May 20 21, 1927, with twenty five years,
Charles Lindbergh crossed the Atlantic Ocean alone and in a nonstop flight becoming famous
internationally. Thereby, Charles Augustus Lindbergh is considered the best, of all time, aviator to
cross the Atlantic Ocean. To understand the why Lindbergh turned the best aviator of all time, it is
necessary to know about his childhood and the events during his life. Lindbergh was born in
Detroit, Michigan, on February 4, 1902. His parents were Charles August Lindbergh, a... Show

To Paris in 33 1/2 Hours; Flies 1,000 Miles Through Snow and Sleet; Cheering French Carry Him
Off Field published in The New York Times on May 22, 1927, the author Edwin James describes
how was the sensation felt by Charles Lindbergh when he arrived in Paris with The Spirit of St.
Louis Well, I made it , smiled Lindbergh, as the little white monoplane came to a halt in the
middle of the field and the first vanguard reached the plane. Lindbergh made a move to jump out.
Twenty hands reached for him and lifted him out as if he were a baby. Several thousands in a
minute were around the plane. Thousands more broke the barriers of iron, rails round the field,
cheering wildly. Here it is evident how people in Paris were wishing Lindbergh success in his
journey. As an American icon, Lindbergh was well received and contemplated for being the best

Finance, Banking And Finance Industry
When you drive up to your bank or walk up to your teller, your main goal is to complete your
transaction and move on with your day. The last thing on your mind is how that transaction is
taking place. You don t care what happens behind the scenes as long as your money is where it
needs to be and is safe. As the banking and financeindustry has transformed, so has the process of
how your money is handled. To accompany those changes, regulators and lawmakers create laws
designed to protect consumers, banks, and the economy as a whole. As you will learn, the history
of the banking industry has changed drastically over the last two thousand years and even more so
in the last century with the advance of technology. It only makes sense that those lawmakers must
continue to update and invent new regulation to further protect those interested parties. My goal is
to demonstrate just how rapidly and radically the finance industry has changed and how new
elements being introduced to finance and banking will adapt the industry and the regulation.
In the world of finance and financial services, banking has been around longer than any other
segment of that world. For more than two millenniums, bankers have served as money changers
who aided people in exchanging foreign for local currencies. As this practice grew and many began
to throw their funds into the banking system, the services that banks performed multiplied. Loans
were granted and bankers collected interest. Most of

Peoplehood Matrix In American Indians
In American Indian life, they believe their life is interconnected with the world, nature, and other
people. The idea of a peoplehood matrix runs deep in Indian culture, in this essay the Cherokee,
which is the holistic view of sacred history, language, ceremony, and homeland together. This
holistic model shapes the life of the American Indians and how their sense of being and
relationship to their history is strong and extremely valuable to them. This essay will try to explain
how each aspect of the peoplehood matrix is important and interconnected to each other and the life
of the Native Americans. History tells us where we have been and possibly where we are going. In
Indian culture, the past is just as important, if not important than the future because the past is what
shaped them into what they are today. For the Cherokee, they are an Iroquoian variant which says a
lot about their history, even deeper into their history is that they are made up of seven different
clans. History is passed down through stories and ceremonies, which is why language is so
important. Through the passing along of oral history, it was known to the Cherokees that they
settled in the fertile lands along the rivers and valleys if the Smokey Mountains for the abundant
herbs and plants that grew and the many types of game available to hunt. History shows that the
Cherokees lived in four different settlements, lower, middle, valley and overkill, each with their
characteristics that made them

Tim Bowler s Storm Catcher
You pay the money and you see her. You don t and she s dead. (Bowler, 105) Tim Bowler wrote
the book Storm Catchers . It takes place in a small village. The parents are out at the bar and left
Fin in charge to watch Ella (El) and Sammy. But Fin asks Ella if he can go to his friend Billy s
house and he knows that Ella doesn t like being alone in the house because she is afraid since the
house is old but, Ella tells him to go and she is left with Sammy. A bit after Fin left, El gets
kidnapped and Sammy runs away unexpectedly. Now they are trying to find her and Sammy. The
lesson that is trying to be told is listen to what you are told or something bad might happen, and
try different things to prevent bad things from happening. From the very beginning, Fin does not
listen to his parents so then Ella gets kidnapped and Sammy gets scared and runs away. I was
only going to stay for a few minutes. El said she was okay on her own ... But she s not okay on
her own! You know she hates being alone in the house... She told me she was alright. She
insisted. (Bowler, 14) This quote from my book is mom and Fin going on about Fin leaving Ella

Gia s Addiction to Heroine
Thus far, throughout the semester, I have gained so much awareness and understanding for those
whom are struggling with substance misuse. Addiction has played a major role in my immediate
family life. Over the years, I have realized that addiction does not discriminate on a basis of race,
gender, or social status. Based on my personal experiences, the perspective I have of addictionis that
it is like a disease. It does not just affect the individual; it also affects everyone the individual
comes into contact with. Addiction overall, is not just associated with drugs and alcohol, it is
present with gambling, Internet use, sex, or even food (Van Wormer, 2013). In order to
understand an individual who suffers from substance misuse, a therapist must first know the
definition of addiction, be able to asses and diagnose a client with an addiction, explore the bio
psychosocial spiritual aspects of their addiction, laws and ethics related to their addiction, and
provide the proper treatment that will help them to recover. Throughout this paper, from a bio
psychosocial spiritual perspective, I plan to explore the causes of Gia s addiction to Heroin. In
addition, I will examine my personal perspective on addiction and what treatment interventions and
laws and ethics might come into play in therapy with Gia. Overall, I hope to provide Gia with an
understanding of her addiction and provide the proper treatment on her road to recovery.

Effects Of The Purchase Of Louisiana
The purchase of Louisiana was both beneficial to President Thomas Jefferson as well as detrimental
in many ways. The ordeal started in October of 1802, where Joseph Harris of smithsonianmag.com
states that the Spanish administrator, Juan Ventura Morales, who was administering New Orleans
until the French administrator Laussat arrived, said that the terms of 1795 treaty had expired and
the Americans had lost their right to store American merchandise in warehouses located in New
Orleans. Another right lost to the Americans was free access to pass through the Spanish territory
on the Mississippi River. The United Statesdepended on New Orleans and the Mississippi River for
trading, as Jefferson wrote There is on the globe one single spot,... Show more content on

Joseph Harris of smithsonianmag.com goes on to state that despite his brothers wishes, Napoleon
had decided to sell all of Louisiana to the United States as he was in need of money for his war
with Britain, as well as the fact Louisiana was not as important to him as Saint Domingue was.
After battering about the price, the purchase of Louisiana was agreed to cost $15 million from the
United States. While some Americans rejoiced in this purchase, not all agreed with the price paid,
even if it was less than four cents an acre. Smithsonianmag.com writes that The Boston Columbian
Centinel published that We are to give money of which we have too little for land of which we
already have too much. Schmoop.com states that the constitution does not authorize anywhere for
the executive branch to use the public funds to pay for the expansion of the United States. The
purchase of Louisiana was the opposite of the political philosophy that the Americans Elected
President Thomas Jefferson for. Jefferson emphasized small government, low taxes, and strict
construction of the constitution. Therefore, the purchase of the territory was unconstitutional by
President Jefferson s standards himself. At first, Jefferson wanted to draft a new amendment to the
constitution that would make his actions legal, but he did not know if this process would be
finished in time. Not wanting to miss the opportunity,

Using Alphabet Charts Are Ideal
Using alphabet charts are ideal
Little kids love exploring the world they live in and just by doing this; they learn a lot in the
process. These little tikes are like sponges. They engross understanding by seeing their parents or
elders, frolicking and by putting their five senses to use.
Considering the fact that these kids need live experiences to learn, they should be given the same
experiences when teaching them with alphabets or letters. In such cases a printable alphabet chart is
ideal.
If you need a rich and properly printed ABC chart, then there are plenty of free templates
available online. These come in both black and white as well as colored formats and are easily
downloadable.
What is an alphabet chart?
An alphabet chart contains all 26 letters with corresponding pictures, and they are designed to
help kids learn and recognize each letter properly. An ABC chart proves to be an effective tool in
the early part of your kid s learning, reading/reviewing letter and formation of words.
Reading the ABC chart with your kiddo
When starting with an alphabet chart, it is important for you to analyze it properly. The basic step
is to indicate each letter in the chart, recite the letter with your kid and also read out the
corresponding picture. Example A a for Apple, B b for Ball, C c cat, etc.
Two things you being a parent need to look at the kind of chart you are choosing for your kid and
the pace which you are choosing. You will have to choose a chart

than 1 billion times the power of the atom bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during
World War II. The giant mosasaurs and plesiosaurs in the seas and the pterosaurs in the skies.
Plankton, the base of the ocean food chain, took a hard hit. Many families of brachiopods and sea
sponges disappeared. The remaining hard shelled ammonites vanished. Shark diversity shriveled.
Most vegetation withered. In all, more than half of the world s species were obliterated.

The relationships between Dr. Andrey Yefimitch Ragin s and Mihail Averyanotch, Pedro

Dr. Ragin start out as being the controlling individual who imposes his beliefs on immortality and

The Importance Of Indigenous People In Australia
The role and place of Indigenous Australians in perceptions of national identity is generally
neglected. Contemporary issues among Indigenous people in Australia include racial
discrimination, poor health and access to health services, levels of employment and education
(Hampton Toombs, 2013). The traumatic diaspora of the Stolen Generations and the negative
impacts of racial and economic disadvantage such as segregation and displacement have contributed
to Indigenous peoplesfeeling of mistrust (Queensland Health, 2015). According to Kelly (2013), a
fundamental challenge faced by educators today is planning and teaching for a future where the
tragedies of the past are overcome for Indigenous students. This essay views these topics as
interrelated and discusses them in reference to whole school best practice to support teaching
Indigenous students.
In Australia, educational policies at the Commonwealth level have had set expectations for the
inclusion of Indigenous themes in school curricula for more than two decades (Kelly, 2013).
ACARA has a stated intention of ensuring that all young Australians will be given the opportunity
to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories

choosing the Slough Crematorium you will be a part of a community. Bernard will finally be

which would appeal to his taste. As Bernard explains, I want to look at the sea in peace...one can

Bernard proposed to view the Lake District with Lenina. This shows how much more he values

Labor Unions and Relevance
Labor Unions and Relevance In the United States, labor unions are seeing an increased amount of
controversy surrounding their helpfulness to the U.S. economy. Recently, comparisons between
the successes of a company such as Toyota versus Ford have brought the issue of unions to the
forefront. Many cite the cost Ford has due to the fact that the employees are unionized and receive
more benefits at a higher cost to the company. On the other hand, many people see great benefit
for Americans who are protected under a union contract; however, it is possible to create a work
environment that is successful, safe, fair, and beneficial to employees without being a union shop.

The following meeting essentially turned into a gripe festival in which the employee complained
about the management, fellow employees, the workload, and the lack of recognition for a job well
done. Fortunately, this issue went no further. Unfortunately for this organization, most filed
complaints are more closely related to people being upset about being rightly disciplined than the
company truly committing acts contrary to the negotiated contract. The actual relevance that
unions have in today s society is shrinking, not only in numbers or employee attitudes, but
politically as well. In the Journal of Labor Research, Hurd and Pinnock (2004) dissect the reasons
for the shrinking affect unions have in politics. They say that after George W. Bush became
president, his administration worked to the disband National Partnership Council, which was set in
place to promote positive relationships with federal unions. The result of the actions from the Bush
administration is a labor movement that is less unified and therefore likely to be less effective on
the political front (Hurd and Pinnock, 2004). In order for corporations to remain competitive in the

newspaper to spread the word to get women to join her in her nationalistic organization, the
Ladies Association of Philadelphia. The goal for the Ladies was to raise money to accumulate
supplies for the soldiers in the war. Only three days after the Pennsylvania Gazette published
Sentiments of an American Woman more than thirty women gathered to discuss the best way to
aid the Soldiers. The group of ladies split up into groups and went from door to door trying to

Ladies collected more than $300,000 dollars. The money was used to purchase supplies like

Wages of Crime by R. T Naylor
Introduction:
Wages of Crime: Black Markets, Illegal Finance, and the Underworld Economy is a book by R.
T. Naylor based on his views of organized crime and the government s stance and involvement.
Naylor writes from a mostly democratic point of view and presents his thesis quite clearly. Naylor
s thesis in this book is that organized crime is a convenient myth handed to society by the
government. In this book Naylor sets up four important concepts: first on the black market
operations of guerrilla groups, second on the modern arms market, then on money laundering, and
finally the underworld trade in gold. Throughout the book he talks about the critique of the public
perceptions of organized crime, a discussion of anti money laundering policies, and an analysis of
terrorist financing.
Summery
At the start of his second chapter Naylor sets up the difference between the motives of insurgent
groups versus criminal groups. Naylor claims Criminals commit economic crimes to make money.
(pg. 45) and that is where motivation ends for them. The difference between insurgent groups is,
money is merely a tool one that is necessary but not sufficient to achieve. Like the formally
constituted governments they challenge, insurgent groups have political programs...they have
control over armed forces, and they directly compete with the state for territory, population, and
resources. (pg. 45) A parallel economy is then created by the guerrilla groups to supply the
population with what

The Goals And Goals Of The Black Panther Party
Civil rights are something every person should have. It s the thing that allows people to think and
act freely, and have a healthy life. But for some time, African Americans didn t have civil rights.
They were considered less important and often hated so that people who just so happened to have
brown skin, had fewer opportunities in the U.S. But some people were willing to stand up against
this notion that African Americans didn t deserve civil rights. They began to become groups that
banded together to stop this inequality. One of these groups was the Black Panther party, an

Balanced Scorecard Essay
Balanced Scorecard in reality
Balanced scorecard is a measurement system that takes into financial as well as non financial
information into account. This system strongly affects the behaviour of managers and employees
by aligning their goals to the company s vision. Kaplan and Norton argues in The Balanced
Scorecard Measures That Drives Performance, 1992 that no single measure can provide a clear
performance target or focus attention on critical areas, and by observing and working with many
companies they found that senior executives do not rely on one set of measures.
As mentioned above, the balanced scorecard consists of four perspectives and this measures link
together to create a tool for senior managers to assess the overall performance of the company. In
other words, the balanced scorecard contains outcome measures and the performance derivers of
outcome, linked together in cause and effect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The strategy should be communicated to lower employees, so they have a clear target for actions,
decisions and improvement activities. Therefore information system plays an important role. With
a good information system, unfavourable results can be tracked to the person or activity
responsible. Hewlett Packard uses a metric called breakeven time (BET) to measure the
effectiveness of its product development cycle. ( Klapan and Norton, 1992 )
If companies can improve their operations and satisfy customers, they create a platform to penetrate
new markets or increase their existing market share. Other companies would prefer to
manufacturing new products rather than improving the manufacturing of existing products, it is
important to achieve stability in the manufacturing of new products. If the company chooses to

perceived that the Natives could be easily persuaded.
Indeed, the Jesuits chose to make concessions with the Natives and to display cultural and religious

conversion were too high to risk a conflict with them. In fact, as I mentioned earlier, the Jesuits were
completely outnumbered by the Natives, they could not wage war against them. Moreover, the
ultimate goal of the missionaries was to insure the victory of Catholicism over Protestantism, they
needed to be really efficient in their approach. So far, I used the term Christian as if there was only

Anthony Wright, an English professor of Ecclesiastical History, explains how the Jesuits were at
the center of the Catholic Reformation, that is to say the Catholic movement that aimed at
challenging Protestantism1. Since 1517, the publication of Ninety Five Theses by Luther, and Jean
Calvin s movement, Lutheran and Calvinist Protestants spread out in Europe2. Thus, the New
World represented new opportunities for every religion and became a battlefield. The Protestants,
generally, emphasized on individual piety and devotion, there is no religious hierarchy and no
need for priests to study or read the Bible and to confess sins. To thwart these new practices, the
Jesuits developped the rituals and sacrament, the cult of the saint and of the Virgin Marr. They also
chose to focus on the religious orders and the authority of the Pope to deal with the abstract Bible
centered Protestantism. The missionaries also recognized that the Reformation tackled real issues
in the Catholic faith, like the excess of pride, lust practices and corruption. Consequently, the Jesuits
wanted to reform the Church by fighting against corruption and supersitions, notably by

Achievement of the American Dream of an African American...
The Huxtable family in The Cosby Show represents the overarching achievement of the American
dream through an African American family. According to Marvin Riggs s 1992 documentary Color
Adjustment there were two types of images of African Americans in the media. On one hand, the
news showed the social and racial tensions that enveloped the post civil rights era. On the other
hand, primetime television depicted social harmony among the races an image that most Americans
understood as inaccurate. In the 1980s, most African Americans lived below the poverty line and
primetime television hesitated to present that challenged ideology of the American Dream to the
viewing public. Henry Louis Gates Jr. argues, in Color Adjustment, that the Black urban sitcoms
demonstrated both the greatest potential for representing Black life in television s history and also
the greatest failure. Residing comfortably in a Brooklyn brownstone, the Huxtables embodied a
nuclear and solid family resolving everyday issues of urban life, showing that African Americans
could move beyond the stereotypical realm of crooks and servants. The world of the Huxtable
family created an aspirational fantasy for minorities groups. The I m With The In Crowd episode
succeeds in creating this sense of hope for African Americans by idealizing the Huxtable family
through the use of costume and set design, while perpetuating certain African Americanstereotypes
through acting methods and the non diegetic laughter of

The Prehistory Of Human Existence
The prehistory of human existence in Britain includes an outlook into the Stone Age which
consisted of the lower Palaeolithic (Homo erectus), middle Palaeolithic (early Homo sapiens) as
well as the upper Palaeolithic. While there are other species within the Homo genus such as the
Homo rudolfensis, Homo habilis, Homo antecessor and the Homo ergaster, I intend to focus on
the Homo erectus, Homo heidelbergensis and of course ancient Homo sapiens as I feel they have
the closest connections to modern day humans. While Homo erectus and Homo heidelbergensis are
relatively similar I am going to mainly define them as somewhat separate species to maintain the
views of modern researchers. Most fossils now known as Homo heidelbergensis were... Show more

However the strong similarities between the Homo heidelbergensis and the Homo erectus
means there is some debate that there is no need to differentiate between the two and that it was
Homo erectus who first reached Britain. The Homo erectus species were believed to have lived
between about 1.89 million and 143 000 years ago. Through the study of fossil remains of these
early humans archaeologists have gained evidence to show they were one of the first of the
species to expand beyond Africa. While we do have evidence showing Homo heidelbergensis
/erectus presence in Britain (for example Boxgrove) around 500 000 years it can be seen that
they did not remain after this original arrival, glacial periods playing a large part in the
dispersion of these early visitors. The middle Palaeolithic period was between approximately
300 000 and 45 000 years ago, the upper Palaeolithic being between approximately 45 000 and 10
000 years ago. The Homo sapien species was believed to have emerged during the middle
Palaeolithic, more specifically around 195 000 years ago in Africa and these are seen to be the
first humans to have eventually permanently inhabited Britain. Despite the evidence for homo
sapien existence in Britain 400 000 years ago the presence of modern humans in Britain remained
brief and sporadic. It has only been continuous since about 12,000 years ago. (Natural History
Museum) The homo sapien species is therefore the species us

Explain Why We Need To Survive
In order to survive, people have to think in a lot of resources in order to try to survive. People
have to use any knowledge for them to stay alive. People go through really tough times to try to
survive.
If I were to be the only survival because my family came under attack, I really wouldn t know what
to do without my family. I really wouldn t know where to go. I would ve been really scared being
myself. I wouldn t have anything to eat or drink for many days. I really don t think I would ve had
any resources for me to be able to survive.
Survival for me means to survive. It means that you get to have another chance in life. It means that
you have to use your knowledge to stay alive. I think it also means to live through something that

Literary Techniques Of Thomas Stoppard s Arcadia
Literary Techniques in Thomas Stoppard s Arcadia
Arcadia by Thomas Stoppard was written in 1993 depicting the correlation between order and
disorder, the present and the past. The concepts tackled in these areas were looked at closely in
comparison to the themes of love and death. Stoppard s work of art earned him a position among
other renowned contemporary playwrights after it was awarded as one of the outstanding plays
that were encompassed the subject of science widely. This was an award issued to it by the
institution of Britain in 2006. Arcadia represents the activities of the modern society in comparison
to that which was in existence before civilization came into place. The high evolutionary society
comprises practices and ideas that can be juxtaposed to strike a balance in the time. Therefore, it can
be noted that Stoppard s aim in this case was to juxtapose the ideas of the contemporary lifestyle
and the activities of the past in order to strike a balance for the highly evolutionary society.
The play Arcadia takes place during the years 1806, 1812, and the present day society. Sidley Park
is represented both in the ancient society and in the contemporary one as a country house in
Derbyshire, where the Coverly family resides. The play has various characters fashioned in the
form of a family as the center of all activity. People such as Bernard Nightingale and Septimus are
the people responsible for the dissemination of knowledge in the family. The plot comprises of

The Music Of The Beatles
The word music is a singular noun that has intense connotations. It can spell out emotions, fortify
memories, and constitute happiness. While the grading of music can be considered subjective, one
band, titled the Beatles, obviously did something right. With their wide range of beats, and
spellbinding lyrics, the Beatlesbecame a worldwide phenomenon. The framework that transitioned
the Beatles into a small town band to a music icon/symbol can be analyzed by observing a wide
range of conditions. These conditions can be located by diving into the parts that made up the
Beatles. Let s start off with John Lennon who at a young age was interested in a music genre
called skiffle and later began forming a band called the Quarrymen in 1955 one of the influences
for his name came from his school called Quarry Bank High School. [3] A year after the start of the
Quarrymen, Lennon met Paul McCartney and the two began working together composing songs,
starting groups before the Beatles, and meeting the other members. Before meeting Lennon, Paul
McCartney inherited his interest in music from his father. He learned to play the piano and the
trumpet from his father. Not only this, but McCartney was influenced by American rock and roll in
the 1950 s. McCartney attended Liverpool Institute and became acquainted with George Harrison.
[5] When McCartney grew older he attended camp and met John Lennon whom he began a very
great friendship with. Since the start of their friendship they began

Philosophy of Physical Education
The perspective of this paper is to develop a philosophy on physical education and then explain
what kind of job we plan on having later on in life and relate physical education to that. The
purpose for developing this philosophy is to try and get the most out of the people I m working

For the players that are older and are more accustomed to big matches, I expect them to be
leaders on and off the court because the younger players DO look up to you, no matter what you
think. I want them at practice early stretching and warming up so the younger players follow suit,
and in turn the younger players will do the same when the become older. For the warm ups before
practice I will have the players start by running these drills to get the blood flowing: The Courier
Drill, Spiders, and Cross Court line touches. After this practice will commence with various
stroke preparation drills such as cross court/down the line and a point blank volleying drill to
develop better hand eye coordination and racquet preparation. In the cross court/down the line

3.3 Leadership Direction
Leadership is important to survive through each and every kind of situation (Burrow, et al.
2007). The main leader of every company is the CEO, who is not only a president but also a
chairman. The strong leadership of the company is the reason that it has continued in achieving
right place in list of the World s Most Ethical Companies which is held by Ethisphere Institute.
The CEO is regarded several times by Fortune, Ethisphere Institute and Glassdoor, as world s
greatest leaders . Vice President very often said that the employees of the company are the reason
he comes to work every day and manage everything in perfect way (Starbucks News, 2014).
3.4 Motivation
The main reason behind the success as well as growth of the Starbucks is the high rate of hard
work shown by the workers. This is the reason that it was the first company who introduced the
right and benefits for the part time workers. Pensions, grocery shopping discounts, healthy
environment and stock options are the basic opportunities offered by the company (Starbucks,
2014). The company make full use of the intrinsic as well as extrinsic elements in order to keep
their workers motivated all the time. Different surveys are held to measure the motivation of the
workers. The company also believes in providing equal

Human Cloud Essay
Over the last decade, the human cloud has become a staple of doing business. Companies from
main street to wall street can quickly find extremely talented subcontractors online, from anywhere
in the world, at a very reasonable price. For this reason, it has become increasingly difficult to trade
competitively without crowdsourcing, or accessing the humancloud. The human cloud, a term used
to describe the online, talentsourcing ecosystem that has emerged over the last decade or so,
revolves around online middlemen, such as Upwork , that engage a virtual pool of workers from
around the world that can be tapped, on demand, to provide a broad range of services to any
interested buyer (Kaganer,
2012). As the world becomes more global, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2).
All these advantages notwithstanding, the challenges of leveraging the human cloud should not be
taken lightly. Perhaps the most notable downside to international trade would be the sophistication
of communication required to manage cloud workers.
Virtual organizations can speed up cycle time, but they pose new challenges for managers on how
to manage remote workers. Communications technologies and the Web let employees work from
anywhere around the corner or around the world and require special attention to managing
communication (Carpenter, 2009, p. 62).
For the uninitiated, differences in culture, language and cross time zone coordination make the
managerial task formidable indeed.
Given this challenge, we wonder if there exists a set of principles for successfully leveraging the
human cloud? Here are three principles that managers of a distributed workforce can rely on to
successfully leverage the human cloud.
Principle #1: Inspire
Most workers want to be a part of an enterprise that matters. Current research suggests that in the
United States, the millennials generation, specifically, has a preference for social enterprises
(FerriReed,
J., 2014). As the global workforce ages, the advantage in

The Conformity Of The Ego In Shakespeare s Macbeth
According to Sigmund Freud, there are three parts of the human psyche the id, the ego and the
superego. The id is the part of the mind that everyone is born with and works behind the scenes to
direct our instincts. The ego is the part of the mind that encounters our day to day lives; the ego is
responsible for quantifying the impulses of the id. The superego is the last part of the mindthat
produces one s conscience and guilt (Freud). All three of these traits of the mind are present in the
tale of Macbeth.
The tale of Macbeth written by William Shakespeare has been considered by many critics and
readers to be one of the darkest stories ever told by Shakespeare. Themes of deceit, murder,
manipulation, the supernatural, the inner struggle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Future Colony On Mars The future colony on Mars will need to have an intelligent use of local resources (Zubrin3, 2) from the planet s surface, have excellent crew morale and compatibility, and be entirely self sufficient. This type of colony is imperative because of the fact that resupply spacecraft from Earth take several months to reach Mars, and precision landings, where rockets are used to guide a descending spacecraft very near a targeted object, or location, are extremely difficult. In addition the base would to not be allowed to use, or utilize NASA s 90 Day Report program as a stepping stone because, [b]efore humans could go to Mars, the report said, the nation would need a space infrastructure buildup of thirty years...NASA would build the previously... • 4. Comparison Of University Vs. Liberty University Even though Liberty and Regent University may have similar belief systems in terms of religion, the class and campus sizes are different. Liberty is a much larger university, but the teachers are less personable. According to Liberty University s central website, Liberty s campus covers more than 7,000 acres (Liberty Liberty University). I find it important to attend a university that has a large campus enough campus that students can get away and have space to study or to think if needed. • 5. Most Important Piece Of Communication Important Issues in the Organization After reviewing the case study, the single most important piece of communication in the collection of calls, memos and letters is the letter from Sally J. Rinehold of the Multigreen Assets Foundation. The letter states that a member of the professional staff requested a $21,000 for research when the Multigreen Assets Foundation already pledged a grant two years ago for capital improvements. Rinehold mentions a few facts in the letter that cause concern for both the structure of the professional staffing of the Loquium Institute and where the initial grant money went. First Order of Business Due to the fact the president of the Loquium Institute is out of town until Friday, the first act as development director is setting up a meeting with Charles Davenport, the President of the Board of Trustees and Julia Smithe a board member and the only acting member of the development committee. Davenport and Smithe are the only members of the Board of Trustees who are actively engaged in the Loquium Institute and its mission. Since they are active in the involvement of the organization and fundraising they will have information regarding how the organization operates and perhaps ideas on how to best move forward with engaging the other board members to participate more in the organization. Temple et. al. (2011) states that it is important to have an involved and committed governing board, prepared to make personally significant commitments of time and fund (pg. 82). It is vital to having the entire board actively engaged in order to move forward with the capital campaign the president wants to initiate. • 6. Red Hunting Hat Catcher In The Rye A lack of communication and friends can prove to be what causes someone to find out who he or she really is. In the beginning of The Catcher in the Rye, Salinger introduces the red hunting hat when Holden gets back from the schools fencing match in New York. Holden purchases this hat after he leaves the equipment they needed in order to participate in the match on the subway. In a way, he buys the hat to make up for what he did and to calm himself when he is caught in a situation. Anytime Holden feels alone or upset, he uses the hat as a source of comfort or protection from the world. In the novel The Catcher in the Rye, JD Salinger uses Alienation to demonstrate the idea that it can make people show who they really are or be more comfortable with themselves. First, when... Holden wants phoebe to be protected from the dangers of growing up and losing innocence, so he tells her to keep it. (97) Holden knows that alienation is what represents what little stability there is in his life and that he never addresses his emotions head on, but he chooses to hide from them. Holden doesn t need to protect himself anymore because he knows who he is and that the red hunting hat will not change him as a person. Holden also realizes that while he wants to have connections, alienation is what separates the two and causes problems. He starts to lose the fear of what other people think of him due to the growing fear that phoebe will get hurt one day. • 7. Patrick Poib s Igloos Patrick Poib is a fun loving little polar bear. Patrick lives in Greenland in the icy cold tundra with his mother Polly Poib, and his dad, Pete Poib. In their little igloo they play around, eat and sleep, but when they are not in their igloo they are out cloud gazing, on the weekends. They always eat either fresh caught fish for all of their meals, or they eat yummy Eskimos that hunt caribous. Polly and Pete have the same job, they re igloobuilders. Polly designs the houses, and Pete builds them. Patrick goes to school and walks home or takes the sled with his friend Linda the lemming. The Poibs, at the end of the day, meet up in their igloo and eat lunch all together. One day a strange thing happened, more than strange, it was almost something that has never happened in Greenland; Patrick s house started to melt. It was during summer, which is not very hot though, but still sunny, but this has never happened before. Greenland s normal temperature outside is 27В° Celsius to 5В° Celsius; it is always cold! Now the sun is getting even stronger, and it has reached the highest it has ever been in Greenland! It was during the night when Patrick s igloo started melting, the first sign of it was the water dripping from the ceiling; it only dripped on Patrick, but he ignored it. The next night Patrick was soaking wet and his home was wearing out and barely had a ceiling anymore; the Poib family woke up in the middle of the night, and saw the dark sky and the dwarf trees surrounding ... • 8. Rorschach Test And Its Impact On The Field Of Psychology Abstract The Rorschach test, used first in 1918, has been the center of much controversy in the field of psychology. This particular test uses print inkblots in order to test many factors within clients based on how they answer when asked about the pictures. Although Hermann Rorschach never made it known where he got the idea for the Rorschach test, it is believed it was inspired by the game Blotto, which was a game which used inkblots. The Rorschach test was originally used to test patients with schizophrenia during which Rorschach discovered that these patients responded significantly in a different way from others without schizophrenia. Later, Rorschach began working more with the test using forty inkblots in his original studies but only using fifteen of them commonly with his clients. Today, this test is used by highly trained professionals who are studying personality based on scoring clients answers to questions about the inkblots. (Framingham, 2016) History of the Rorschach Test The Rorschach test, which was first administered in 1918, is one of the most controversial psychological tests in the history of psychology. This particular test uses print inkblots in order to test many factors within clients based on how they answer when asked about the pictures. It was created by Herman Rorschach. Although Rorschach never made it known where the inspiration for the Rorschach test came from, it is believed it was inspired by the game Blotto, a game using inkblots. ... • 9. Frame-Relay . Unit 3 Kaplan University IT530 Professor Jeffrey Robinson August 20, 2013 Abstract In this discussion we look at some of the history around frame relay. We then look at some of the equipment necessary to create the frame relay connections, as well as how the connections work both logically and physically. Some limiting factors are discussed as well as committed information rates, burst rates, an error handling. Some of the positive aspects of frame relay are identified along with some options for the future of WAN technologies. This allows frame relay to provide a low cost of ownership while adhering to standards and internetworking with other services. A highly reliable WAN may be achieved through frame relay and a good service level agreement (SLA) from the provider. Frame relay can be thought of as a simple principle because it allows the higher level protocols to deal with many of the problems. Although, it can include optional features such as congestion notification and signaling mechanisms. Ideally, a committed information rate (CIR) is selected that best meets the needs of the customer. This is the maximum burst rate, which when exceeded can cause the frames to be discard eligible (DE). In reality, the nature of frame relay allows all bits to be discard eligible, but the error correction is handled by the upper layers. Some configurations allow speeds to burst above the CIR, but never more than the physical capacity of the circuit. The DLCI is the connection identifier for the PVC in the connection oriented datalink protocol that is frame relay. By switching variable length frames, statistical multiplexing is achieved. Even though frame relay may be susceptible to traffic delays it can still be optimized for delay sensitive traffic such as voice over IP. Because the frame relay path is known, it is used to connect the customer premises equipment (CPE) to the frame relay switch. The LMI keep alive signaling happens ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Definition Of True Beauty Essay Tyler Bennett Professor Chad Brodbeck ENC 1101 Composition 1 31 October 2017 True Beauty When asked to describe beauty, one s initial response is to comment on physical attributes such as hair, eyes, and facial structure. Rarely will the answer entail traits such as selflessness and intelligence. Merriam Webster defines beauty as the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit. Inner and outer beauty stimulates the mind in some way. Many believe physical attributes define beauty, yet one cannot exemplify true beauty without the harmony of personality, interaction, and physical attributes. Architecturally speaking, Vitruvius emphasizes that Order is the balanced adjustment of the details of the work separately, and as to the whole, the arrangement of the proportion with a view to a symmetrical result (Vitruvius 26 27). Vitruvius was a Roman architect who wrote the book De architectura, which many architects used for their own work in Rome. As seen in his works, symmetry appears often. Another philosopher, who goes by the name of Plotinus, asserts that: Almost everyone declares that the symmetry of parts towards each other and towards a whole, with, besides, a certain charm of colour, constitutes the beauty recognized by the eye, that in visible things, as indeed in all else, universally, the beautiful thing is essentially symmetrical, patterned. Local leagues face serious challenges due to inability to raise funds as a result of reduced quality of play resulting in poor stadium attendance that mean fewer facilities, and as indicated earlier, this lack of facilities has a trickle down effect on accessibility of facilities for women in sports. Globalisation has also impacted on local sport participation by way of administrative practices. For example, Carter (2002) documents the rise of global administrative bodies (such as FIFA and OIC) and FIVF (Vanderhoof 2011) that oversee and regulate various sports. Similarly, MacAloon (1984) discusses how the modern Olympic movement highlights the diffusion of sports forms and organisation across the globe. Mill s Beliefs The relationships between Dr. Andrey Yefimitch Ragin s and Mihail Averyanotch, Pedro Paramo s and Dolores Preciado, and Elesin s and his new bride; all support Mill s position that individuals may use impose their individual beliefs, such as their superiority, on others which might prevent people from forming their own individuality. • 30. The Importance Of Indigenous People In Australia The role and place of Indigenous Australians in perceptions of national identity is generally neglected. Contemporary issues among Indigenous people in Australia include racial discrimination, poor health and access to health services, levels of employment and education (Hampton Toombs, 2013). The traumatic diaspora of the Stolen Generations and the negative impacts of racial and economic disadvantage such as segregation and displacement have contributed to Indigenous peoplesfeeling of mistrust (Queensland Health, 2015). According to Kelly (2013), a fundamental challenge faced by educators today is planning and teaching for a future where the tragedies of the past are overcome for Indigenous students. This essay views these topics as interrelated and discusses them in reference to whole school best practice to support teaching Indigenous students. In Australia, educational policies at the Commonwealth level have had set expectations for the inclusion of Indigenous themes in school curricula for more than two decades (Kelly, 2013). ACARA has a stated intention of ensuring that all young Australians will be given the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures , (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority, 2011), yet Lowe Yunkaporta (n.d.), describe the Australian Curriculum as privileged content that ignores the realities faced by twenty first century learners. Recently, comparisons between the successes of a company such as Toyota versus Ford have brought the issue of unions to the forefront. Many cite the cost Ford has due to the fact that the employees are unionized and receive more benefits at a higher cost to the company. On the other hand, many people see great benefit for Americans who are protected under a union contract; however, it is possible to create a work environment that is successful, safe, fair, and beneficial to employees without being a union shop. The actual relevance that unions have in today s society is shrinking, not only in numbers or employee attitudes, but politically as well. In the Journal of Labor Research, Hurd and Pinnock (2004) dissect the reasons for the shrinking affect unions have in politics. They say that after George W. The result of the actions from the Bush administration is a labor movement that is less unified and therefore likely to be less effective on the political front (Hurd and Pinnock, 2004). Naylor based on his views of organized crime and the government s stance and involvement. Naylor writes from a mostly democratic point of view and presents his thesis quite clearly. Naylor s thesis in this book is that organized crime is a convenient myth handed to society by the government. In this book Naylor sets up four important concepts: first on the black market operations of guerrilla groups, second on the modern arms market, then on money laundering, and finally the underworld trade in gold. Throughout the book he talks about the critique of the public perceptions of organized crime, a discussion of anti money laundering policies, and an analysis of terrorist financing. Summery At the start of his second chapter Naylor sets up the difference between the motives of insurgent groups versus criminal groups. Naylor claims Criminals commit economic crimes to make money. (pg. 45) and that is where motivation ends for them. The difference between insurgent groups is, money is merely a tool one that is necessary but not sufficient to achieve. Like the formally constituted governments they challenge, insurgent groups have political programs...they have control over armed forces, and they directly compete with the state for territory, population, and resources. Thus, the New World represented new opportunities for every religion and became a battlefield. The Protestants, generally, emphasized on individual piety and devotion, there is no religious hierarchy and no need for priests to study or read the Bible and to confess sins. To thwart these new practices, the Jesuits developped the rituals and sacrament, the cult of the saint and of the Virgin Marr. The Huxtable family in The Cosby Show represents the overarching achievement of the American dream through an African American family. According to Marvin Riggs s 1992 documentary Color Adjustment there were two types of images of African Americans in the media. On one hand, the news showed the social and racial tensions that enveloped the post civil rights era. On the other hand, primetime television depicted social harmony among the races an image that most Americans understood as inaccurate. In the 1980s, most African Americans lived below the poverty line and primetime television hesitated to present that challenged ideology of the American Dream to the viewing public. Henry Louis Gates Jr. argues, in Color Adjustment, that the Black urban sitcoms demonstrated both the greatest potential for representing Black life in television s history and also the greatest failure. Residing comfortably in a Brooklyn brownstone, the Huxtables embodied a nuclear and solid family resolving everyday issues of urban life, showing that African Americans could move beyond the stereotypical realm of crooks and servants. The world of the Huxtable family created an aspirational fantasy for minorities groups. Through the study of fossil remains of these early humans archaeologists have gained evidence to show they were one of the first of the species to expand beyond Africa. While we do have evidence showing Homo heidelbergensis /erectus presence in Britain (for example Boxgrove) around 500 000 years it can be seen that they did not remain after this original arrival, glacial periods playing a large part in the dispersion of these early visitors. The high evolutionary society comprises practices and ideas that can be juxtaposed to strike a balance in the time. Therefore, it can be noted that Stoppard s aim in this case was to juxtapose the ideas of the contemporary lifestyle and the activities of the past in order to strike a balance for the highly evolutionary society. The play Arcadia takes place during the years 1806, 1812, and the present day society. Sidley Park is represented both in the ancient society and in the contemporary one as a country house in Derbyshire, where the Coverly family resides. • 49. The Music Of The Beatles The word music is a singular noun that has intense connotations. It can spell out emotions, fortify memories, and constitute happiness. While the grading of music can be considered subjective, one band, titled the Beatles, obviously did something right. With their wide range of beats, and spellbinding lyrics, the Beatlesbecame a worldwide phenomenon. The framework that transitioned the Beatles into a small town band to a music icon/symbol can be analyzed by observing a wide range of conditions. Let s start off with John Lennon who at a young age was interested in a music genre called skiffle and later began forming a band called the Quarrymen in 1955 one of the influences for his name came from his school called Quarry Bank High School. [3] A year after the start of the Quarrymen, Lennon met Paul McCartney and the two began working together composing songs, starting groups before the Beatles, and meeting the other members. Not only this, but McCartney was influenced by American rock and roll in the 1950 s. McCartney attended Liverpool Institute and became acquainted with George Harrison. After the match, win or lose, I expect my players to understand that they played as hard as they could and on that day, even though they played as hard as they could, it wasn t their day to win. For the players that are older and are more accustomed to big matches, I expect them to be leaders on and off the court because the younger players DO look up to you, no matter what you think. I want them at practice early stretching and warming up so the younger players follow suit, and in turn the younger players will do the same when the become older. For the warm ups before practice I will have the players start by running these drills to get the blood flowing: The Courier Drill, Spiders, and Cross Court line touches. After this practice will commence with various stroke preparation drills such as cross court/down the line and a point blank volleying drill to develop better hand eye coordination and racquet preparation. In the cross court/down the line drill there will be four people to each court and players on opposite sides of the court will plays five point games while alternating drop serves. • 53. Human Cloud Essay Over the last decade, the human cloud has become a staple of doing business. Companies from main street to wall street can quickly find extremely talented subcontractors online, from anywhere in the world, at a very reasonable price. For this reason, it has become increasingly difficult to trade competitively without crowdsourcing, or accessing the humancloud. The human cloud, a term used to describe the online, talentsourcing ecosystem that has emerged over the last decade or so, revolves around online middlemen, such as Upwork , that engage a virtual pool of workers from around the world that can be tapped, on demand, to provide a broad range of services to any interested buyer (Kaganer, 2012). Perhaps the most notable downside to international trade would be the sophistication of communication required to manage cloud workers. Virtual organizations can speed up cycle time, but they pose new challenges for managers on how to manage remote workers. Communications technologies and the Web let employees work from anywhere around the corner or around the world and require special attention to managing communication (Carpenter, 2009, p. 62). For the uninitiated, differences in culture, language and cross time zone coordination make the managerial task formidable indeed. Given this challenge, we wonder if there exists a set of principles for successfully leveraging the human cloud? Here are three principles that managers of a distributed workforce can rely on to successfully leverage the human cloud. Principle #1: Inspire Most workers want to be a part of an enterprise that matters. Current research suggests that in the United States, the millennials generation, specifically, has a preference for social enterprises (FerriReed, J., 2014). As the global workforce ages, the advantage in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. The Conformity Of The Ego In Shakespeare s Macbeth According to Sigmund Freud, there are three parts of the human psyche the id, the ego and the superego. The id is the part of the mind that everyone is born with and works behind the scenes to direct our instincts. The ego is the part of the mind that encounters our day to day lives; the ego is responsible for quantifying the impulses of the id. The superego is the last part of the mindthat produces one s conscience and guilt (Freud). All three of these traits of the mind are present in the tale of Macbeth. The tale of Macbeth written by William Shakespeare has been considered by many critics and readers to be one of the darkest stories ever told by Shakespeare.
