Ofelia s Madness Essay
Scene Analysis: Ofelia s Madness
Since Hamlet emerged onto the literary scene, scholars have argued both sides of this debate: is Ofelia
actually mad? Many refer to a scene where Ofelia appears to be in a dazed state of mind as she dances
and sings around the court, for evidence.
The scene in question, scene 13, sets itself to establish a few key relationships between characters and
develops the plot, set the tone of the play for the upcoming action as well as reanalyze Ofelia s
reliability as a character. When Ofelia loses her mind, she starts handing out flowers to everyone
around her. She talks directly about the symbolic meaning of those flowers, but what is also important
is who might be on the receiving end of these flowers. To begin, this scene establishes a connection
between Laertes and the King. When Laertes enters he is clearly angry and distraught as opposed to
the calm and logical character the reader was previously introduced to. This is shown when he says,
Who hath murdered him? Speak! and I will no reconcilement but by blood (Scene 13). He is clearly
out to seek justice for his father s murder. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Analyzing the textual contents, the argument that Ofelia is not completely insane is apparent. She
gives rue, the herb of grace and repentance to the King. In written work, rue is known for its symbolic
meaning of regret. It is given to the King to wear in repentance, for committing regicide, and some to
herself, Here s some for me too , to wear in regret and grief at the loss of her father and her lover
(Scene 13). She also gives the King a daisy to symbolize unhappy love or forsaken love. Fennel is
given to Gertred and is emblematic of flattery and deceit. Lastly, there are no violets given to anyone;
they are connected to death: [. . .] I would give you some violets, but they withered all when my father
died (Scene

Reflective Research Paper
Reflective Research Paper
I have connected the reflective research paper to objective # 1 because it made me examine my
personal belief and attitude on gender equity issues. I did not realize that gender equity existed at the
level that it does until researching the topic. Doing the research made me realize that the way we teach
directly affects how children learn in every aspect.
Gender inequities in the fields of math and science are well researched and the results are shocking.
Women compromise 45% of the work force, they hold jobs concentrated in clerical, service, and
professional fields such as teaching and nursing, rather than in mathematics, science, or engineering
(Levin Matthews, 1997). Gender inequities start in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With girls, teachers reprimand for calling out answers, call on somebody else if they do not know the
answer, give them more straight forward questions, and praise them for the appearance of their work.
Teachers need to challenge girls in the same manner they challenge boys.
Language is another barrier teachers need to break in order to prevent gender bias. Language can build
a wall that will deter girls from continuing their math and science education. Text and teachers often
refer to a third party as he . When he is stated your mind automatically pictures a man. When speaking
about professionals, engineers or scientists, you re limiting professions to girls by always labeling
with he . Something as simple as phrasing can result in a bias in the classroom.
Using role models in the classroom can provide gender equity issues. Recently textbook publishers
tried to make textbooks less gender bias by including more women. In the 1997 article, Levin and
Matthews stated that even though there are chapters or boxes labeled Famous Women Scientists,
students are still left with a fragmented world view that males are the main story and women are a
sideshow, confined to a brief insert, anecdote, or biographical summary. However, if teachers can
provide female role models of scientists, or engineers for the students they will be more likely to

Managing Information Security Risk Of A Cyber Attack
Next, AAE will use the NIST SP 800 39: Managing Information Security Risk to generate a response
for each risk.
Note that three of the risks are global risks; the data breach, terrorist, and rising fuel prices risks all
stem from AAE s global marketplace activities. According to the SP 800 39, AAE could utilize one of
five strategies to respond to risk. It could choose to: 1) accept risks, 2) avoid risks, 3) transfer/share
the risks, 4) mitigate the risks, or 5) avoid the risks. Following are the responses and strategies
generated by the register:
Risk 1 Cyber Attack (Global_1):
Mitigate C3J recommends AAE to use the defense in depth approach to security to mitigate the risk of
a cyber attack. Essentially, defense in depth involves employing multiple security systems to protect
company data. The concept works on the premise that if one system fails, another will be in place to
protect the data. Examples of defense in depth safeguards include using encryption to protect data
confidentiality, implementing solutions to detect an attack, implementing solutions to backup and
recover data, managing log files, and implementing a strong security awareness program. If a breach
occurs the Director of IT will notify the Executive Director and any affected parties before activating
the AAE incident response plan (IRP).
Risk 2 Rising aeronautical fuel prices (Global):
Transfer/share Crude oil is the source of jet fuel; therefore, jet fuel prices are directly correlated to oil

Baseball Is The Oldest Professional Sport
Peanuts, bratwursts, and fireworks after a home team win are everything that reminds all of us of
Major League Baseball. Baseball is the oldest professional sport played in the United States. The
Majors have two leagues known as the National and the American League. Each MLB year is
composed of a spring training, a regular season, an All Star break, a postseason, and an off season.
Hoboken, New Jersey hosted the first official game between the New York Nine and New York
Knickerbockers with the New York Nine winning twenty three to one in four innings. However, it

Opening day rings in the beginning of another long, stressful one hundred and sixty two game regular
season. Many teams do not play on opening day, therefore, opening day is extended a week from the
first game. In fact, former St. Louis Cardinal Ozzie Smith with Anheuser Busch started a petition on
Whitehouse.gov, stating that Opening Day should be considered an official holiday. The regular
season of major league baseball is composed of one hundred and sixty two games for thirty teams
ranging from April October. Twenty of these games is between the American and National league
called interleague play. Each of these games are a minimum of nine innings and twenty seven outs.
However, if the game was tied in the 9th inning, it continues until the winning run comes across home
plate. These games lead up to the famous All Star Home Run Derby and the All Star Game in the
second or third Tuesday in July. At the mid point of the regular season, there is an All Star break.
Besides the postseason, this break is known for the All Star Home Run Derby and the All Star Game.
The players are elected by fans, coaches, and players. The team managers from the previous World
Series are selected as the managers for the All Star game. The break begins a day before and extends
to the day after giving enough rest for players and coaches. The Home Run Derby has a total of ten

Montana is known as it beauty. There is many activities to do in this gorgeous state such as, going to
Glacier National Park, skiing, hiking, boating, fishing/ fly fishing , really good hunting, going to
historical museums, and you can even go to Yellowstone National Park. Montana went through a lot
just to become what we are today, and here are some difficulties we had to come by...
Montana was a territory in 1864. A territory is a land that is ruled by jurisdiction. There was seven
different territories, in the western United States. One of the territories was to be Montana. This was
by the Act of Congress signed by Abraham Lincoln, on May 26th, 1864. We shared a territory with

Social Cultural Reality Theory in Action

Short answers
Q. 1. Challenge DeVito, O Rourke and O Neill s (2000) definition of culture using Richards (1999) or
Anae (1997). How do DeVito et al look at membership within a culture and how does Richards see it
differently?
DeVito, O Rourke and O Neill s (2000, p.99) definition of culture is very limited when describing
modern cultures of globalised human society. Perhaps where people are isolated to villages, towns or
countries with little communication with the outside world, the definition would be completely
workable. But now, due to access of information, global trade, travel and immigration etc the world is

Social amp; Cultural reality theory in action
Melissa Peters
Bachelor of Arts Student, Open Polytechnic
Introduction
How is it we know when to laugh, cry or shout? Or when it would be rude or inappropriate to do so?
Why is it we value integrity, honesty, respect...or not? And where do our religious or spiritual beliefs
and practices come from?
This essay looks at theories of social construction and their part in the development of cultural and
societal realities. We look at constructivism as a means of learning social norms, values, beliefs etc
using examples from the production Tapu (Smith and Haami, 2000). In particular we ll address the
theories of emotional construction and rule governing.
So what is social construction?
Social construction is the idea that our understanding of reality derives from interaction with others. It
refers to the way we create meaning and understanding to build collectively held beliefs. These beliefs
are called social constructions or constructs .
In the 1967 book, The Social Construction of Reality, Berger and Luckmann argue that all knowledge,
including the most basic, taken for granted common sense knowledge of everyday reality, is derived
from and maintained by social interactions. (Wikipedia, 2012).
Culture is a vital aspect of

Essay On Conscription In The Vietnam War
Introduction In this project the subject being researched will be conscription in the Vietnam War.
During this particular war, many Australian men were conscripted into the national servicemen and
had to work in the army during the war. Many Australians were against the idea of conscription and
protested against it. Between late 1964 and December 1972 804,286 twenty year olds registered for
national service, 63,735 national servicemen served in the army and 15,381 served in Vietnam.
Around 200 servicemen died in the war. Paragraph 1 The National Servicemen were made up of men
that were conscripted to work in the army. These men were 20 years old. Once a man had turned 20
they were liable to be chosen for the army. If someone was chosen they were obligated to join. The
national servicemen had to give two years continuous full time service in the regular army. This was
then followed by an extra three years on the active reserves list. While the men were part of the two
years full time service, they were liable to be chosen for special overseas service. These special
services included service in Vietnam. Paragraph 2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

can avoid it is if they had disabilities or were too unfit for the army. There were very severe
consequences for those that refused to join the national servicemen. They could be prosecuted and
possibly convicted with a jail sentence that could last as long as the usual amount of time spent in the
National Service. Some people also tried to pretend to be too unwell or unfit for the National Service.
These people could also suffer a conviction and would also be

The Submission Amy Waldman Analysis
Some people have a hard time when they lose a family member and other people are not considerate.
These people are stubborn, insensitive, and do not care. In the novel, The Submission by Amy
Waldman, is about when the Muslims attack the Twin Towers also known as the 911. There are
families that are in grief, even though it has passed two years. These families are united when it comes
to making a decision and the person that supports this group is Claire. Claire represents the families.
There is a submission that is going on to see which drawing is going to be constructed for the
memorial. The drawing that won was The Garden by Mo. Mo is a Muslim American. After the people
see the person that created this drawing, right away they want to pick someone else or try to find a
way to tell Mo that he cannot win. After this the media and the public finds out. This causes chaos
among the people and the families. The families want someone else drawing because Mo is Muslim

His girlfriend even breaks up with him because of how selfish and stubborn he is. They are having a
conversation when Mo disagrees with her. Mo disagrees with mostly everyone. He does not want to
listen no anyone. When Claire has dinner with him in a restaurant, she is waiting for a thank you from
Mo. Claire is trying to put some sense to the families that what is important is the memorial not the
person that created it. Claire is defending Mo here instead of the families (Waldman, 124 125). She
announces Mo as the winner, but Mo knows that she is expecting a thank you. Claire supports Mo
even though she is getting threats that the people are going to harm her children and her. By Claire
joining sides with Mo she is being threat to be killed if she does not stop. I defend the families because
Mo is being selfish and stubborn. He does not care if Claire is getting threats or not. He just cares

The Key Aspects Of Emotional Development
In this essay I will be discussing the key aspects of emotional development and giving examples
through different research studies that have been conducted. I will also be looking at a few different
theorists associated with emotional development. Any developmental theory is expected to be related
to a common view of emotion. Theories of emotional development can be put into two distinct groups,
which stem from Watson s (1929) and Bridges (1932) work. Throughout this essay I will be discussing
the different areas of development that have been influenced by emotional development including,
Attachment, Moral Reasoning, Cognition, Individual differences, and Personality Development.

For example, there is some disagreement as to how much of a role cognition plays in the experience of
emotion. Furthermore, there are questions concerning whether emotions are innate or learned and
about when and in what form different emotions develop during infancy.
When do emotions appear in infants? This debate still continues. For example, smiles occur early, but
most are more likely reflexive than social. A smile can express emotion at 6 weeks of age but
psychologists believe it is not until approximately 6 months of age that a smile can be regarded as
emotional and social in nature. Crying is a strong emotion for infants and can be used to communicate.
The first emotions that infants express are pleasure, fear, anger, distress and interest. At about 3 to 4
months of age infants express laughter. Negative emotions develop soon after, with anger the most
prominent negative feeling.
Negative emotionality explains individual differences in children s tendency to experience negative
emotions, and includes the beginning, intensity, and duration of emotions (Rettew McKee, 2005). Fear
and frustration are the most commonly researched components of negative emotionality.
Research looking at direct relations between fear and adjustment in older children has discovered that,
more fear related directly to higher internalizing as

The Narrative Of The New Zealand
The narrative of the New Zealand feature film What We Do in the Shadows (2014) directed by
Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, follows the lives of three vampires, Viago, Deacon and Vladislav
as they struggle to try to cope with the complexities of modern life. Living in a flat in Wellington,
these modern day vampires are faced with the mundanities of everyday life, and things such as paying
rent, trying to get into nightclubs and overcoming flatmate conflicts prove to be extremely difficult.
What We Do in the Shadows is unique in that it combines parody and cinematography, while also
using a mixture of two genres, vampire and mockumentary, to comment on contemporary social
formations and to challenge traditional cultural myths. These elements of the film have been used to
ensure the portrayal of the horrific as mundane and ordinary. What We Do in the Shadows uses
aspects of the vampire genre to demonstrate the changes that the cinematic vampire has faced over the
years. As Kane states, both the demeanour and appearance of the cinematic vampire has changed
drastically since its introduction with Bela Lugosi in 1931 (1), which has resulted in the creation of the
modern day cinematic vampire that we see in What We Do in the Shadows. Throughout film history
three distinct periods of vampire narrative can be observed. Initially, the first cinematic vampires were
formally dressed and presented as the leading villains in films, the second type showed more human

Norman, The Conqueror And The Norman Army
Norman success in late 11th century England
The tactics used by William the Conqueror and the Norman army, militarily, administratively, and
culturally, impacted their success in imposing their power within the English kingdom. These tactics
worked in tandem, increasing the success of each of their objectives. The military force used by the
Normans was useful in gaining and later maintaining territories for the crown, the administration
allowed William the Conqueror s reign to act in a more effective manner under him in the early days
of his rule, and the cultural and religious structures allowed the Normans to integrate the already
closely tied Norman and English societies.
Arguably the most important factor in the exertion of power over the English was the ability by the
Normans to act militarily. The warlike attitude of the Normans, combined with the religious aspects
that will be discussed later, provided them with a ready and capable army with which to support
William s claim to the throne. The early years of William s rule, after the 1066 defeat of Harold,
emerged as a sort of military occupation within England by the Normans. These years were crucial in
the Norman advance within England. When William came to England he arrived with a large support
of military men and much of these supporting military men remained in England because of their
military duties. This army aided William not only in the initial battle against Harold, but later as well,

Smooth Muscle Contraction
Smooth muscle cells of the ileum spontaneously contract due to the presence of pacemaker cells,
called Cajal cells (Widmaier et al., 2014d). However, these smooth muscle they are also innervated by
autonomic nerves, which can be stimulated to change contraction rates by stimulating. Figure 1, shows
the effect of nerve stimulation of 17volts on isolated ileum tissue. Stimulating sympathetic
(sympathetic nerves was stimulated for this particular tissue), causes release of noradrenaline, which
inhabits contraction of smooth muscle cells. Furthermore, according to table 1, there is a 58.83%
change in contraction amplitude. It can be extrapolated that fewer smooth muscles are contracting. At
lower voltages, a weaker response was observed, as voltage is increased a stronger response was
observed. Increasing the voltage, means more neurons are being recruited (Widmaier et al., 2014b). In
this particular experiment, stimulation of nerves around the mesenteric artery caused an inhibitory
response, therefore at higher voltages, more smooth muscles are being inhibited.
The frequency was set to 20Hz. Interstitial cells of Cajal, are responsible for spontaneous contraction
of smooth muscle cells in the gastrointestinal tract (Widmaier et al., 2014d). Once ... Show more

After 10 minutes, once the Phentolamine was in equilibrium with the solution, the nerve was

could not cause change in contraction of the muscle in the presence of Phentolamine. Thus, the nerve
being stimulated must be releasing noradrenaline. Noradrenaline, released by sympathetic nerve
causes decrease in motility, by inhibiting muscle contraction (Widmaier et al.,

Book Review: Crawford, S. (2014). The Telecom Industry and Monopoly in Power in the New Gilded
Age. London, Brilliance Audio.
In the book, Captive Audience: The Telekom Industry and Monopoly Power in the New Gilded Age,
the Author, Susan Crawford is discussing how a decade ago, United States was the benchmark for
internet service provision. The U.S. boasted of the fastest internet speed, highest penetration rates, and
the lowest prices in the market. The United States was then recognized as a leading knowledge
economy. However, today, things have suddenly changed, a situation attributed towards lackluster
government legislations that have given rise to new monopolies hence allowing countries such as
Singapore, Japan, and Europe to overtake the U.S in terms of average broadband speed, penetration
rates, and prices. This backslide has not only deprived consumers premium services and contents in a
competitive global landscape, but also threatening to derail the country s economic prospects.
According to Susan, who is the author of the book, she believes that once upon a time, she was found
in a fortunate position to decide on a television and internet package. Susan had a choice of two
companies to choose from, and these very companies provided broadband connectivity, telephony
services, and myriad of television channels than she could hardly afford to enjoy. Unfortunately, this
particular choice of providers is only available to the

Difficulties And Challenges Of Learning
One of the greatest skills that we have developed as a people is our capacity and ability for language.
Creating a way for us to communicate spread ideas and further enriches our lives, language both
verbally and written, has been a great benefit to our lives. Unfortunately not everyone is as quick to
understand language in its forms, for example when a person may have difficulties in reading.
Obviously this would create a great hindrance to a person s life, and there have been a few identified
factors that have correlated with difficulties in learning to read. One of the main connections that has
been found is that a person who has difficulty in processing sounds of words, that they may also have
lessened reading abilities. In discussing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For one, even though there has been shown to be a link between auditory and verbal abilities and
reading, they are only parts of what make up the entire whole process of reading (Bishop and
Snowling 2004, Cain et al. 2004). Secondly is because there are a few important distinctions to make
between the two group sets. First would be the types of skills that fall in each group. Examples of
skills that fall within the phonological side are letter sound knowledge and phoneme awareness
(Hulme et al. 2012). In discussing phonemes, they can be defined as a unit of sound to distinguish
units of meaning or put more simply, the different noises that when put together create words (Fox and
Routh 1980). Non phonological skills on the other hand would relate to semantics along with dealing
with the definitions and comprehension of words (Bowyer Crane et al. 2008). The second is the
problems associated within each skill set. When dealing with problems associated with reading, on the
phonological side concerns with word decoding may arise if these skills slack (Bowyer Crane et al.
2008). With non phonological skills issues, problems with reading comprehension can occur (Bowyer
Crane et al. 2008). In discussing problems that arise within the phonological group set, along with
more in depth skill insights, a number of researchers have found vital breakthroughs. In dealing with
the learning of reading, phonological awareness has

Only light in the mist and on the water.
And God said, Let there be light, and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he
separated the light from the darkness. God called the light day, and the darkness he called night. And
there was evening, and there was morning the first day.
The first day. The very beginning of everything, in this old world. The beginning of time, the
beginning of history. The beginning of all the happiness and sorrow of mankind. For it was on this day
that the great and loving creator, with a wonderful purpose in mind, drew near this blacked out planet,
this dark little speck in space, and said.
Let there be light.
Great Preparations
As the light of earths first day fades into night, something strange and wonderful begins to happen.
Silently, mysteriously, the heavy, moisture laden mist that has held close to the ocean begins to rise.
All night and all the next morning it goes up, up, up until it becomes a beautiful fleecy white covering
high above the world. Between it and the water below there is clear, fresh air, forming the
atmosphere.. And God said, Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water. So
God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so.
God called the vault sky. And there was evening, and there was morning the second day.
Perhaps you are wondering why God took one whole day of creation week

Examples Of Symmetry In The Knight s Tale
, their symmetry, their happy balance; in a word it is all that introduces order, all that gives unity, that
permits us to see clearly and to comprehend at once both the ensemble and the details (Poincaré). The
need for symmetry to understand the whole is found not only in math, but also in literature. In The
Knight s Tale, symmetry provides balance to stories by highlighting critical aspects for understanding.
The balance of conflict and resolution help complete the story and create a sense of harmony for the
reader. In The Knight s Tale, Chaucer uses symmetry through balance to make the story truly
complete. Chaucer uses many examples of symmetry to help explain the story and emphasize
important events. The first instance of symmetry in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chaucer uses symmetry to creatively conclude the driving conflict of the poem, Arcite and Palamon s
conflicting mutual love for Emily. The conflict between the two lovers begins during their exile in
Theseus prison after being defeated in battle. Palamon is upset by his cousin s admiration of Emily
when he expressed his love interest first; he exclaims, Yet you would treacherously go about / To love
my lady, whom I love and serve / And ever shall, till death cut my heart s nerve (34). He expresses his
deep love for Emily and anger that his own cousin does not support him, but loves the same lady. The
conflict over their love of Emily forms a deep rift between the two men for the length of the poem.
The rift is mended at Arcite s request to Emily after he is fatally injured in celebration of his victory in
the tournament: Who serves you and will serve you all his life. / And should you ever choose to be a
wife, / Forget not Palamon, that great hearted man (78). Chaucer uses symmetry to bring about an end
to the violent tournament devised by Theseus, so that he could determine who would marry Emily.
Theseus orders Palamon and Arcite to each gather an army so that they could fight to the death to win
Emily: To Emily. To this I give my name, / My faith and honour, as I am a knight. / Whichever of you
proves of greater might (52 53). The

The Similarities And Differences Of The Northern And...
The United States today, as we know it, is a very culturally, economically, politically and religiously
diverse country. This is due, in part, to the differences and division among its founding thirteen
English colonies along the country s east coast. Those thirteen states collectively made up the
Northern or New England colonies, the Mid Atlantic or Middle colonies and the rural Southern
colonies. Each of which had their own way of living and several differences that were unique to those
regions. For the men and women who populated these colonies, their new world may have slightly
resembled England, hence the names New England, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New Netherland
later renamed New York, but they wanted it not to be exactly like their ... Show more content on

Hearts And Minds Documentary Analysis
The documentary Hearts and Minds was interesting and eye opening for me as it was the first in depth
visual of the Vietnam Era and of the war itself. After watching the movie, and thinking about it
without the initial emotional impact, I realized a few things that the director was trying to prove to the
audience. Generally, I thought that the film was biased towards one side. It showed almost no pro war
people except the POW and a few politicians. However, the framing the director used made them look
like fanatics or cold hearted racists. Granted, the human pain they showed on both sides was real and
could not have been exaggerated. It was eye opening to see just how wrong the U.S. was to enter into
Vietnam. The documentary made it seem like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The blatant disregard for non American life, the lack of knowledge in the country about what was
occurring overseas, and the lies that the government pushed down the peoples throats. To be honest, I
think the documentary could have gone either way with the American public at the time is was
released. I feel that if you saw the film with open eyes that it would have greatly disturbed anyone that
saw it. However, I also feel that there would be individuals who would refuse to believe that that was
really went on if they had gone in believing that it was a necessary military engagement or if they lost
a loved one and did not want to believe their death was in vain. This documentary was a good tool to
get across the needless violence that occurred during the war, however, the film was not very accurate
in the portrayal of every event that they filmed and then incorporated into the documentary. From the
little knowledge that I have of the Vietnam War, even I noticed discrepancies and moments when the
director did not fully explain the situation and left a wrong impression for the audience. Without
explain the background the citizens that view the documentary will only think the

How Gender Comes Into Play
In my previous paper I was very interested in how gender comes into play when it comes to how
people balance paid work and family time. This was really interesting to me because as a daughter I
was really interested to see if any of the themes that I saw reminded of when I was young. Even more
than that, however, I was interested to see what might happen to me as I get older, get married, and
start having children. While I am young now, I am very eager to settle down and have a family so I
was very curious at the different themes that I would see when I interviewed a married women, who
was Named Lucy .
The themes that I did see in my research were inequality, a very traditional family dynamic (which I
thought was caused by a gender trap), and family myths. The division of household labor in this
family was very traditional, the mother, who I interviewed, was the one who did most, if not all, of the
household labor along with working a full time job. That led me to believe that they had a very
traditional family dynamic, even though that might not be the true ideology of the women I
interviewed. I picked up on a few things while I was interviewing her that I think led to the traditional
division of labor. I thought that they were very much caught in a gender trap, meaning that they think
that they have to do what is typical for their gender. That meant that the childcare and the housework,
which is seen as more of a feminine, were up to Lucy. The other things that were seen

Becoming A Psychologist And Studying Psychology
My first and most set career I am planning on pursuing in the future is a psychologist. For the longest
time, I have had my mind set on becoming a psychologist and studying psychology as much as I can
in the future. For those who don t know or aren t very informed on it, a psychologist is someone that
evaluates and studies human behavior and all mental processes, such as emotional, cognitive, and
social processes. Usually, they study this through observing and recording how individuals relate to
one another and their environments. Psychologists don t only study single people at a time, but groups
of people as well. There is not only one type of psychologist, but about 56 divisions of psychology
and psychologists. The most well known branches of psychology, which are ones I am interested in
entering, are clinical psychologists and/or counseling psychologists, which study and diagnose mental
disorders on people. As stated there are others, such as army psychologists, children psychologists,
health psychologist, etc. which are all seemingly self explanatory, but this doesn t go for every branch.
On average, though, last checked in May of 2012, the median pay for psychologists is about $69,280
dollars a year, earning them about $33.31 dollars an hour. Although depending on how well known,
who you work for, and what branch of psychology you are in, this could change; this is just an average
of what most do earn. In the United States, we have about 170,200 psychologist jobs,

of leaves from Elephantopus scaber by using different solvents (ethyl alcohol, acetone and aqueous).
The ethyl alcohol, acetone and aqueous extracts of leaves were subjected to phytochemical analyses,
which revealed the presence of alkaloids, phenols, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, tannins, coumarins,
quinones and glycosides in most of the selected of leaves useing different solvents. Ethyl alcohol

against all test organisms. Ethyl alcohol of leaves has the best activity against all test organisms.
Found a high effective for ethyl alcohol extract of leaves compared with the other parameters, also it
was recorded a high increase for ethyl alcohol of leaves compared with the acetone extract of leaves

The Code Math
The final episode of The Code began with an ancient tale of an old exploration ship. They ship was in
a storm and had no choice but to run aground and try to survive on an island waiting for help. After 8
months with no help and hostile natives, the captain of the ship told the native leader that if he didn t
bring them food then their god would consume the moon. The captain of the ship watched as his
predictions came true and the moon began to disappear. The native leader brought them food because
they were scared. The reason the captain knew the moon would disappear was because he used math
and had a lunar table which means he knew when the eclipse would happen. This was an old example
of how math was used and history and very interesting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using certain probability equations, investigators can use them to determine why or where a criminal
will attack next. These mathematical principle are very useful in tracking down serial killers. Serial
killers are thought to be very random but actually there is usually a rhyme or reason for choosing the
people that they kill. These equations have been designed to predict where they might strike next. This
example is another great example of how math is used in the real world. It shows how humans aren t
even aware of the patterns we live. It truly is almost impossible for a human to be completely random.
One line that stood out to me in this episode was when Mr. Du Sautoy said life is random, it s chaos .
This means that while life may seem completely random, in reality almost everything can be
predicted. It s just the slightest shift of one of any number of factors that can throw something into a
completely different direction. I thought that this was a very interesting and thought provoking phrase.
The next thing Mr. Du Sautoy talked about was the butterfly effect. This is the idea that one small
thing could have greater effects on another thing over

The Rights Of The United Kingdom
Although the restraints around contraception were loosening, the Irish State remained firm in their
belief on abortions. A referendum on the 8th Amendment of the Constitution Act, 1983 was elected by
Irish citizens. The article was amended to read: The State acknowledges the right to life of the unborn
and, with due regard to the equal right to live of the mother, guarantees in its laws to respect, and as
far as practicable, by its laws to defend and vindicate that right. While the United Kingdom passed the
Abortion Act 1967 that allowed women to legally terminate a pregnancy under certain circumstances,
Irishwomen remained under the jurisdiction of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861. The 8th
Amendment, or Article 40.3.3, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Attorney General discovered the Irish teen s situation and sought an injunction under Article
40.3.3 for the right to life of the unborn , delaying the procedure; the girl then threatened to commit
suicide if she was not permitted an abortion. The attorney general was not justified in extending the
law of abortion to other states where the services were legal since the law of Ireland did not extend to
other countries. The preference for the life of the unborn child over the mother was evident in the
court case. However, the circumstance for the loss of both lives called for immediate action in order to
preserve any life. The teenage girl was allowed an abortion under Article 40.3.3 claiming due regard
to the equal right to life of the mother . As a result of this court case, the 13th and 14th Amendments
of the Constitution were made to Article 40.3.3 to legalize information on abortive services abroad
and for the freedom to travel outside of Ireland for an abortion. The Regulation of Information
(Services outside the State for Termination of Pregnancies) Act, 1995 further outlined the 13th and
14th Amendments by requiring the patient to make the appointment for abortion abroad, mandatory
pregnancy counseling, and for the information on abortion services to be provided along with
information on parenting and adoption. The Censorship of Publications Act,

Summary Of Laocon And His Sons
Mussels twisting in agony, fans savagely piercing the flesh, faces drowning in suffering. This intense
visual is shockingly manifested through marble in the sculpture Laocoön and His Sons by
Hagesandros, Polydoros, and Athenodoros of Rhodes. This alluring orchestra of artistic elements is
the perfect compilation of technical perfection and emotional expression. The exaggerated drama of
the piece is the style of the Greek s Hellenistic period. All things considered, Laocoön and His Sons
possesses both exquisite formal components and content and has the ability to provide insight into
both the culture of the Greeks, as well as the attitudes of humanity withholds towards enemies. To
commence, the formal composition of Laocoön and His Sons is enticing. The piece is carved in
marble with a height of eight feet. The marble white hue of the statue seems to accentuate the detailed
anatomy of the figures. The three males are placed upon a base. On one of the far sides of the base,
there resides a pillar style seating with drapery which hangs off in a waterfall like motion. The central
figure, and by far the most substantial in size, Laocoön, seats at an angular position. This angular
position creates a dynamic composition. His two sons, Antiphantes and Thymbraeus, struggle at his
side as sea serpents attach all three the figures. There appears to be two sea serpents, one who is
notably digging its fangs into Laocoön s hip. Moreover, a significant aspect of the piece is that

Robinson Crusoe Thesis Statement
My diploma thesis is about the Main Themes in Daniel Defoe s Robinson Crusoe novel. This novel is
an autobiographical narrative novel which the author names Robinson Crusoe .Novel firstly was
named The Life and Strange Surprizing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, of York, but then was
changed into Robinson Crusoe .It was published with this title with the intention to look more like the
life of a sailor, not of the author itself.
The novel represents the amalgamation of middle class and aristocratic society. It represents the
spiritual progress which is revealed during the activities that he has on the island. The experiences that
he has made him realize the connection between him and the divine belief.
The love and affection that Robinson has for nature and the sea are one of the most captivated loves
that he feels during his life. In the beginning of the novel, Defoe s writes about his family opinions
towards him, and how unhappy they were about Robinson s life ... Show more content on

During this era, two philosophers with differing views were in the forefront of the intellectual and

Both philosophers used concepts that society valued and theorized those concepts into sophisticated

was able to appeal society s middle to lower class in enticing the concept of intelligence and

Executive Summary This report analyzes the company Netflix to determine whether or not it makes a
good investment at this time. Netflix was founded in 1997 in California. The company launched its
website that same year, at the time the company was composed of only 30 employees and had close to
1000 DVD S available to rent. Netflix was one of the first company s to offer rental DVD s on a

Diner dressed as if it were in the 50s (Absolute), I was immediately enamored by the chess pieces.
Soon, I established a reputation for myself as a capricious, impatient tactician able to beat all but the
most experienced players. I played with one of the better players, Phil (Appositive), almost every
week. Through those games, I learned many values, like patience and carefulness, that not only apply
to chess but also to life. One late Autumn Wednesday night, after my mom and I had just settled in the
Sage Diner (Preposition), I noticed that there were only a few players. Two of them had already began
a game, so I asked Phil for a chess game.

Similarities Between The Last Dog And The Last Dog
You are being deceived; two things can seem similar, but really, they are very different. What you
initially see is not always accurate, this is especially prominent in literature. Though Dark They Were
and Golden Eyed and The Last Dog appear to be similar, because they have similar genes and
characters, they have contrasting themes that are developed in vastly different ways.
The stories seem similar because they are both science fiction, and have main characters that are alike.
Brock and Bittering are extremely different than the people around them. Brock, in The Last Dog ,
lives in a dome, in what is a post apocalyptic Earth, where everyone in the dome is unemotional and
bland, except Brock. This quote from the text shows that the story is science fiction, ...he pulled the
scanner from his outside pouch and checked it hot. Oh, that was what he was feeling. Hot. Both stories
include many classic elements of science fiction, like being set in the future, and new technology and
science. Dark They Were and Golden Eyed shares the same traits. When a character says We re
stranded on Mars... it creates a science fiction story, because we do not currently have the technology
to live on Mars, and it shows the story is in the future. Both stories have similar main characters.
Brock and Bittering are the odd ones out in their peer group, Brock is more human than others,
because he has strong feelings, and longs for adventure. ...his heart was beating so hard... this supports
the fact that Brock is uncommon, because he is getting excited about leaving the dome. Bittering is
different from the people around him because he resists and questions the change that is affecting him
and his community. When Bittering says What is this? We ve got to get away from this. He is talking
about how Mars is slowing changing everything that is organic from Earth into Martian things. The
roses, for example, start normally but after some time on Mars they turn green. Bittering is abnormal
because everyone else from Earth is not worried about the changes they are going through. By sharing
the same gene, and having similar main characters, The Last Dog and Dark They Were and Golden
Eyed are similar, but they are, in fact,

  • 4. Ofelia s Madness Essay Scene Analysis: Ofelia s Madness Since Hamlet emerged onto the literary scene, scholars have argued both sides of this debate: is Ofelia actually mad? Many refer to a scene where Ofelia appears to be in a dazed state of mind as she dances and sings around the court, for evidence. The scene in question, scene 13, sets itself to establish a few key relationships between characters and develops the plot, set the tone of the play for the upcoming action as well as reanalyze Ofelia s reliability as a character. When Ofelia loses her mind, she starts handing out flowers to everyone around her. She talks directly about the symbolic meaning of those flowers, but what is also important is who might be on the receiving end of these flowers. To begin, this scene establishes a connection between Laertes and the King. When Laertes enters he is clearly angry and distraught as opposed to the calm and logical character the reader was previously introduced to. This is shown when he says, Who hath murdered him? Speak! and I will no reconcilement but by blood (Scene 13). He is clearly out to seek justice for his father s murder. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Analyzing the textual contents, the argument that Ofelia is not completely insane is apparent. She gives rue, the herb of grace and repentance to the King. In written work, rue is known for its symbolic meaning of regret. It is given to the King to wear in repentance, for committing regicide, and some to herself, Here s some for me too , to wear in regret and grief at the loss of her father and her lover (Scene 13). She also gives the King a daisy to symbolize unhappy love or forsaken love. Fennel is given to Gertred and is emblematic of flattery and deceit. Lastly, there are no violets given to anyone; they are connected to death: [. . .] I would give you some violets, but they withered all when my father died (Scene ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Reflective Research Paper Reflective Research Paper I have connected the reflective research paper to objective # 1 because it made me examine my personal belief and attitude on gender equity issues. I did not realize that gender equity existed at the level that it does until researching the topic. Doing the research made me realize that the way we teach directly affects how children learn in every aspect. Gender inequities in the fields of math and science are well researched and the results are shocking. Women compromise 45% of the work force, they hold jobs concentrated in clerical, service, and professional fields such as teaching and nursing, rather than in mathematics, science, or engineering (Levin Matthews, 1997). Gender inequities start in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With girls, teachers reprimand for calling out answers, call on somebody else if they do not know the answer, give them more straight forward questions, and praise them for the appearance of their work. Teachers need to challenge girls in the same manner they challenge boys. Language is another barrier teachers need to break in order to prevent gender bias. Language can build a wall that will deter girls from continuing their math and science education. Text and teachers often refer to a third party as he . When he is stated your mind automatically pictures a man. When speaking about professionals, engineers or scientists, you re limiting professions to girls by always labeling with he . Something as simple as phrasing can result in a bias in the classroom. Using role models in the classroom can provide gender equity issues. Recently textbook publishers tried to make textbooks less gender bias by including more women. In the 1997 article, Levin and Matthews stated that even though there are chapters or boxes labeled Famous Women Scientists, students are still left with a fragmented world view that males are the main story and women are a sideshow, confined to a brief insert, anecdote, or biographical summary. However, if teachers can provide female role models of scientists, or engineers for the students they will be more likely to pursue a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Managing Information Security Risk Of A Cyber Attack Next, AAE will use the NIST SP 800 39: Managing Information Security Risk to generate a response for each risk. Note that three of the risks are global risks; the data breach, terrorist, and rising fuel prices risks all stem from AAE s global marketplace activities. According to the SP 800 39, AAE could utilize one of five strategies to respond to risk. It could choose to: 1) accept risks, 2) avoid risks, 3) transfer/share the risks, 4) mitigate the risks, or 5) avoid the risks. Following are the responses and strategies generated by the register: Risk 1 Cyber Attack (Global_1): Mitigate C3J recommends AAE to use the defense in depth approach to security to mitigate the risk of a cyber attack. Essentially, defense in depth involves employing multiple security systems to protect company data. The concept works on the premise that if one system fails, another will be in place to protect the data. Examples of defense in depth safeguards include using encryption to protect data confidentiality, implementing solutions to detect an attack, implementing solutions to backup and recover data, managing log files, and implementing a strong security awareness program. If a breach occurs the Director of IT will notify the Executive Director and any affected parties before activating the AAE incident response plan (IRP). Risk 2 Rising aeronautical fuel prices (Global): Transfer/share Crude oil is the source of jet fuel; therefore, jet fuel prices are directly correlated to oil ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theories of emotional development can be put into two distinct groups, which stem from Watson s (1929) and Bridges (1932) work. Furthermore, there are questions concerning whether emotions are innate or learned and about when and in what form different emotions develop during infancy. When do emotions appear in infants? This debate still continues. For example, smiles occur early, but most are more likely reflexive than social. A smile can express emotion at 6 weeks of age but psychologists believe it is not until approximately 6 months of age that a smile can be regarded as emotional and social in nature. Crying is a strong emotion for infants and can be used to communicate. The first emotions that infants express are pleasure, fear, anger, distress and interest. At about 3 to 4 months of age infants express laughter. Negative emotions develop soon after, with anger the most prominent negative feeling. Negative emotionality explains individual differences in children s tendency to experience negative emotions, and includes the beginning, intensity, and duration of emotions (Rettew McKee, 2005). The Narrative Of The New Zealand The narrative of the New Zealand feature film What We Do in the Shadows (2014) directed by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, follows the lives of three vampires, Viago, Deacon and Vladislav as they struggle to try to cope with the complexities of modern life. Living in a flat in Wellington, these modern day vampires are faced with the mundanities of everyday life, and things such as paying rent, trying to get into nightclubs and overcoming flatmate conflicts prove to be extremely difficult. What We Do in the Shadows is unique in that it combines parody and cinematography, while also using a mixture of two genres, vampire and mockumentary, to comment on contemporary social formations and to challenge traditional cultural myths. These elements of the film have been used to ensure the portrayal of the horrific as mundane and ordinary. What We Do in the Shadows uses aspects of the vampire genre to demonstrate the changes that the cinematic vampire has faced over the years. As Kane states, both the demeanour and appearance of the cinematic vampire has changed drastically since its introduction with Bela Lugosi in 1931 (1), which has resulted in the creation of the modern day cinematic vampire that we see in What We Do in the Shadows. • 17. Norman, The Conqueror And The Norman Army Norman success in late 11th century England The tactics used by William the Conqueror and the Norman army, militarily, administratively, and culturally, impacted their success in imposing their power within the English kingdom. These tactics worked in tandem, increasing the success of each of their objectives. The military force used by the Normans was useful in gaining and later maintaining territories for the crown, the administration allowed William the Conqueror s reign to act in a more effective manner under him in the early days of his rule, and the cultural and religious structures allowed the Normans to integrate the already closely tied Norman and English societies. Arguably the most important factor in the exertion of power over the English was the ability by the Normans to act militarily. The warlike attitude of the Normans, combined with the religious aspects that will be discussed later, provided them with a ready and capable army with which to support William s claim to the throne. The early years of William s rule, after the 1066 defeat of Harold, emerged as a sort of military occupation within England by the Normans. These years were crucial in the Norman advance within England. • 19. Smooth Muscle Contraction Smooth muscle cells of the ileum spontaneously contract due to the presence of pacemaker cells, called Cajal cells (Widmaier et al., 2014d). However, these smooth muscle they are also innervated by autonomic nerves, which can be stimulated to change contraction rates by stimulating. Figure 1, shows the effect of nerve stimulation of 17volts on isolated ileum tissue. Stimulating sympathetic (sympathetic nerves was stimulated for this particular tissue), causes release of noradrenaline, which inhabits contraction of smooth muscle cells. Furthermore, according to table 1, there is a 58.83% change in contraction amplitude. It can be extrapolated that fewer smooth muscles are contracting. At lower voltages, a weaker response was observed, as voltage is increased a stronger response was observed. Increasing the voltage, means more neurons are being recruited (Widmaier et al., 2014b). In this particular experiment, stimulation of nerves around the mesenteric artery caused an inhibitory response, therefore at higher voltages, more smooth muscles are being inhibited. The frequency was set to 20Hz. Interstitial cells of Cajal, are responsible for spontaneous contraction of smooth muscle cells in the gastrointestinal tract (Widmaier et al., 2014d). Once ... The U.S. boasted of the fastest internet speed, highest penetration rates, and the lowest prices in the market. The United States was then recognized as a leading knowledge economy. However, today, things have suddenly changed, a situation attributed towards lackluster government legislations that have given rise to new monopolies hence allowing countries such as Singapore, Japan, and Europe to overtake the U.S in terms of average broadband speed, penetration rates, and prices. Secondly is because there are a few important distinctions to make between the two group sets. First would be the types of skills that fall in each group. Examples of skills that fall within the phonological side are letter sound knowledge and phoneme awareness (Hulme et al. 2012). In discussing phonemes, they can be defined as a unit of sound to distinguish units of meaning or put more simply, the different noises that when put together create words (Fox and Routh 1980). Non phonological skills on the other hand would relate to semantics along with dealing with the definitions and comprehension of words (Bowyer Crane et al. 2008). The second is the problems associated within each skill set. When dealing with problems associated with reading, on the phonological side concerns with word decoding may arise if these skills slack (Bowyer Crane et al. 2008). With non phonological skills issues, problems with reading comprehension can occur (Bowyer Crane et al. 2008). Ethyl alcohol ,acetone and aqueous extracts of leaves were investigated for in vitro antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhis, Klebsiella pneumonia, Streptococcus pyogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida Albican by well diffusion method by using a different concentrations (20, 40, 60, 80, 100)mg/ml. Ethyl alcohol and acetone extract of leaves showed promising antimicrobial activity against all test organisms. Ethyl alcohol of leaves has the best activity against all test organisms. Found a high effective for ethyl alcohol extract of leaves compared with the other parameters, also it was recorded a high increase for ethyl alcohol of leaves compared with the acetone extract of leaves for a concentrations of (100, 20)mg/ml. The aqueous extract of the leaves has a weak activity against all test organisms and did not inhibit the growth of Klebsiella pneumonia for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They ship was in a storm and had no choice but to run aground and try to survive on an island waiting for help. After 8 months with no help and hostile natives, the captain of the ship told the native leader that if he didn t bring them food then their god would consume the moon. The captain of the ship watched as his predictions came true and the moon began to disappear. The native leader brought them food because they were scared. The reason the captain knew the moon would disappear was because he used math and had a lunar table which means he knew when the eclipse would happen. This was an old example of how math was used and history and very interesting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using certain probability equations, investigators can use them to determine why or where a criminal will attack next. These mathematical principle are very useful in tracking down serial killers. Serial killers are thought to be very random but actually there is usually a rhyme or reason for choosing the people that they kill. These equations have been designed to predict where they might strike next. This example is another great example of how math is used in the real world. It shows how humans aren t even aware of the patterns we live. It truly is almost impossible for a human to be completely random. One line that stood out to me in this episode was when Mr. Du Sautoy said life is random, it s chaos . This means that while life may seem completely random, in reality almost everything can be predicted. It s just the slightest shift of one of any number of factors that can throw something into a completely different direction. I thought that this was a very interesting and thought provoking phrase. The next thing Mr. Du Sautoy talked about was the butterfly effect. This is the idea that one small thing could have greater effects on another thing over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The Rights Of The United Kingdom Although the restraints around contraception were loosening, the Irish State remained firm in their belief on abortions. A referendum on the 8th Amendment of the Constitution Act, 1983 was elected by Irish citizens. The article was amended to read: The State acknowledges the right to life of the unborn and, with due regard to the equal right to live of the mother, guarantees in its laws to respect, and as far as practicable, by its laws to defend and vindicate that right. While the United Kingdom passed the Abortion Act 1967 that allowed women to legally terminate a pregnancy under certain circumstances, Irishwomen remained under the jurisdiction of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861. The Attorney General discovered the Irish teen s situation and sought an injunction under Article 40.3.3 for the right to life of the unborn , delaying the procedure; the girl then threatened to commit suicide if she was not permitted an abortion. The attorney general was not justified in extending the law of abortion to other states where the services were legal since the law of Ireland did not extend to other countries. The preference for the life of the unborn child over the mother was evident in the court case. However, the circumstance for the loss of both lives called for immediate action in order to preserve any life. The teenage girl was allowed an abortion under Article 40.3.3 claiming due regard to the equal right to life of the mother . As a result of this court case, the 13th and 14th Amendments of the Constitution were made to Article 40.3.3 to legalize information on abortive services abroad and for the freedom to travel outside of Ireland for an abortion. • 34. Summary Of Laocon And His Sons Mussels twisting in agony, fans savagely piercing the flesh, faces drowning in suffering. This intense visual is shockingly manifested through marble in the sculpture Laocoön and His Sons by Hagesandros, Polydoros, and Athenodoros of Rhodes. This alluring orchestra of artistic elements is the perfect compilation of technical perfection and emotional expression. The exaggerated drama of the piece is the style of the Greek s Hellenistic period. All things considered, Laocoön and His Sons possesses both exquisite formal components and content and has the ability to provide insight into both the culture of the Greeks, as well as the attitudes of humanity withholds towards enemies. To commence, the formal composition of Laocoön and His Sons is enticing. The piece is carved in marble with a height of eight feet. The marble white hue of the statue seems to accentuate the detailed anatomy of the figures. The three males are placed upon a base. On one of the far sides of the base, there resides a pillar style seating with drapery which hangs off in a waterfall like motion. The central figure, and by far the most substantial in size, Laocoön, seats at an angular position. This angular position creates a dynamic composition. His two sons, Antiphantes and Thymbraeus, struggle at his side as sea serpents attach all three the figures. There appears to be two sea serpents, one who is notably digging its fangs into Laocoön s hip. Moreover, a significant aspect of the piece is that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The dilapidated Sage Diner dressed as if it were in the 50s (Absolute), I was immediately enamored by the chess pieces. Soon, I established a reputation for myself as a capricious, impatient tactician able to beat all but the most experienced players. I played with one of the better players, Phil (Appositive), almost every week. Through those games, I learned many values, like patience and carefulness, that not only apply to chess but also to life. One late Autumn Wednesday night, after my mom and I had just settled in the Sage Diner (Preposition), I noticed that there were only a few players. • 39. Similarities Between The Last Dog And The Last Dog You are being deceived; two things can seem similar, but really, they are very different. What you initially see is not always accurate, this is especially prominent in literature. Though Dark They Were and Golden Eyed and The Last Dog appear to be similar, because they have similar genes and characters, they have contrasting themes that are developed in vastly different ways. The stories seem similar because they are both science fiction, and have main characters that are alike. Brock and Bittering are extremely different than the people around them. Brock, in The Last Dog , lives in a dome, in what is a post apocalyptic Earth, where everyone in the dome is unemotional and bland, except Brock. This quote from the text shows that the story is science fiction, ...he pulled the scanner from his outside pouch and checked it hot. Oh, that was what he was feeling. Hot. Both stories include many classic elements of science fiction, like being set in the future, and new technology and science. Dark They Were and Golden Eyed shares the same traits. When a character says We re stranded on Mars... it creates a science fiction story, because we do not currently have the technology to live on Mars, and it shows the story is in the future. Both stories have similar main characters. Brock and Bittering are the odd ones out in their peer group, Brock is more human than others, because he has strong feelings, and longs for adventure. ...his heart was beating so hard... this supports the fact that Brock is uncommon, because he is getting excited about leaving the dome. Bittering is different from the people around him because he resists and questions the change that is affecting him and his community. When Bittering says What is this? We ve got to get away from this. He is talking about how Mars is slowing changing everything that is organic from Earth into Martian things. The roses, for example, start normally but after some time on Mars they turn green. Bittering is abnormal because everyone else from Earth is not worried about the changes they are going through. By sharing the same gene, and having similar main characters, The Last Dog and Dark They Were and Golden Eyed are similar, but they are, in fact, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
