Thesis Statement Of Sweatshops
The Benefits Behind Sweatshops
Thesis statement: Sweatshops, when left to operate without government intervention, are the most
efficient way of out poverty.
Introductory rationale: When it comes to social justice issues, most people believe the government
needs to solve the problem. Social justice in sweatshops is no exception. In my research, I have found
that what people see as the cause of injustice in developing countries, sweatshops, are actually what is
responsible for lifting people up out of poverty. As a result, any sort of government regulation will fail
to solve the problem. The audience I am writing for is a diverse group of peers who are concerned
with social justice though they may have different solutions and beliefs about the topic. My goal in
this draft is to expand their knowledge and show them the benefits of not interfering with the free
market.
I. Claim 1: Sweatshops increase the standards of living for the workers and their communities

Jackie Robinson Essays
Jackie Robinson
Jackie Robinson and integration are two phrases that cannot be segregated. Whether he liked it or not,
he played the star role in the integration of society during the time that he played Major League
Baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers. His heroic journey that landed him in the Majors shows,
amp;#8220;how integration has come to baseball and how it can be achieved in every corner of the
land ; (Robinson 16). But this amazing triumph over the Jim Crow laws could only have been possible
in New York as Robinson says, amp;#8220;Cooperstown, New York, and Birmingham, Alabama, are
both in the Unites States. In Cooperstown I had been the guest of honor in the company of three other

The Dodgers got their name from the electric streetcars in Brooklyn that were so dangerous that
people had to be skilled amp;#8220;dodgers ; of them in order not to get run over. Why was Brooklyn
the place that integration could occur? After World War Two, Brooklyn had transformed from a white
middle class population to a mix of blacks, Latinos and Jews. amp;#8220;About half of Brooklyn
amp;#8217;s population was Jewish; among the Dodger faithful, Jews were probably far more ready
than any other major group, such as the Irish or the Italians, to identify with the fight against the Jim
Crow embodied by Robinson ; (Rampersad 220 221). Obviously, the Jews related to the blacks
amp;#8217; plight against society amp;#8217;s belittlement of them and the similar discriminations
they both faced. Many of the Robinson amp;#8217;s friends were Jewish, perhaps because
amp;#8220;the Robinsons found Jews far more ready than other whites to accept them socially ;
(Rampersad 221). Jackie Robinson was able to live successfully in Brooklyn, and not only because he
was a great athletic superstar but because he had many friends and supporters that didn amp;#8217;t
consider him an outsider. They let him live amongst them, supported him, and befriended him and his
family. Rachel Robinson (Jackie amp;#8217;s wife) sums it up by saying that, amp;#8220;We didn

Waiting for Superman Film Review
Waiting for Superman by Davis Guggenheim is a documentary released in 2010 that promotes the
educational welfare of America s children in public school systems that are severely broken in many
ways. Just under two hours, Guggenheim relates many factual information and shines light on
education.
The film starts by introducing the NCLB (No Child Left Behind) act which progresses into describing
the many faults of the educational system. Throughout the documentary, the film shows personal
stories such as Daisy, Francisco, Geoffrey Canada, and Michelle Rhee. Daisy is a 5th grader who is
already writing into college admission offices. That statistics in Daisy s ... Show more content on

For Daisy to be successful, and on the right path, she wants to attend KIPP LA Prep school, and Daisy
only has a 14% chance of getting in. Francisco is a first grader in the Bronx, already attending a
failing school. Anthony wishes to attend the Harlem Success Academy. Anthony s chance of getting
into his school of choice is only 5%. In the documentary, people such as Geoffrey Canada, and
Michele Rhee, tell and show the issues facing America s children today in schools worldwide. Canada,
president of the Harlem Children s Zone describes his journey as an educator. Canada s idea was to
create charter schools. The goals of the Charter schools would give children along with their parents
more options within the public school system, in hopes to increase academic performances inside the
classroom. Rhee, former controversial superintendent of Washington, DC, is Chancellor of public
schools.

College Critical Thinking Skills
In many of the essays used in college critical thinking is one of the most important skill used. No
matter what class it is we have to always think. Many of the topics students find themselves critically
thinking about are why the character in the storyline have caused them to live or died , what equations
are used to solve a problems or we think about in the long term how recycling will affect our planet.
Critical thinking is also used in real world situations. These situations also vary from bringing in new
ideas to the work place to promoting team work in a classroom and uncovering difficult problems. No
matter where we are or what we do, we are critically thinking. This skill is especially important for my
paper that I had to write for human resources. We had to use critical thinking to reevaluate a situation

When getting case studies the first step a student must do it identify the problem that needs to be

they can find a solution to the problem. In this assignment we had to figure out what should have
human resources done in order to properly protect the interest of the nurse but not endanger the new

the situation. These laws are created in order to address some of the most overtly discriminatory

difficult to identify and correct, while the American workplace continues to reflect unfair and unlawful
discrimination although we find that it is likely that many illegal acts of discrimination and harassment

Bill Clinton s Affair
To the public, Bill Clinton was noted as charismatic and considerate to all races and genders. Clinton
was highly admired by Americans because of his speeches and his extremely social lifestyle.
According to the Roper Center Public Opinion Archives at the University of Connecticut, Bill Clinton
only had a sixteen percent disapproval rate at the beginning of his first term, however; in 1995 the
Lewinsky Scandal occurred, and his disapproval rate rose to fifty four percent ( Clinton Presidential
Approval ). Although Americans supported Bill Clinton s presidential administration, his involvement
in the Lewinsky Scandal led to his demise. In 1995, when Bill Clinton s ... Show more content on

remarks on Lewinsky s love for Clinton. Lewinsky gushed, I feel I just need to start over, and I know
this is so stupid. But I don t know why I have these feelings. Linda, I never expected to feel this way
about him ( Lewinsky Tripp Tapes ). Around the same time Lewinsky s conversations with Tripp were
recorded, Lewinsky got called to court for the Paula Jones Case. The Cable News Network shared that
Paula Jones, a state employee from Arkansas, claimed that Clinton sexually harassed her. The court
demanded that Lewinsky attended to speak about possible sexual harassment from Clinton, but
Lewinsky denied any sexual relationship with Clinton. Linda Tripp wanted to clear up the Paula Jones
Case, so she released the tapes of Lewinsky to a lawyer and administrator named Kenneth Starr. The
news of the Clinton Lewinsky affair surfaced to the public in January of 1998. The scandal caused
political and media disorder. Americans felt betrayed by the president and questioned other lies they
have been told. Through all the controversy, Clinton continued to deny the allegations stating, I did
not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. In July of 1998, Kenneth Starr summoned

Oily Hair Research
Women are always searching for hair care tips from the experts. However, it is important to know your
hair type in order to provide the right type of hair care that keeps your hair healthy and strong.
Generally, if you have a dry scalp, you also have dry hair. Those with an oily scalp tend to have oily
hair. Of course, other factors weigh in heavily too. For example, your general overall health, hormone
production, stress, and even genetics. Once, you discover your hair type, it is easy to design a hair care
program to keep your hair healthy.
What Causes Oily Hair

Hoosiers Analysis
Hoosiers is a film about second chances. It s about a small town basketball team making a comeback
from their loosing streak with the help of their new head coach. The Hickory Huskers begin their
season with new coach Norman Dale, whose coaching techniques rile up the townspeople and parents.
He arrives at the school being a decade out of coaching the game and having a troubled past. Coach
Dale is thrown many challenges with the townspeople not trusting him, the team s best player not
playing and the fact that the small town team is overmatched. However, his optimism, motivation and
toughness helped gain the loyalty of the team and the attention of the town.
According to the film, Hickory, Indiana is a place where basketball players are treated like gods . The
town takes basketball very seriously, it is literally a way of life for them. The Hickory Huskers may
not be the best team in the area, but the community is very supportive of the team. Every week the
whole town comes together for the games to cheer on the Hickory Huskers and the townspeople have
meeting to try coming up with solutions to help better their performance. However, the towns
approach is aggressive and their strategies to win are different from Coach Dales. For example, a
group of men from the town barge into one of the team s practices and criticize Coach Dale that they
should be practicing with the ball instead of doing strength exercises. Coach Dale believed that for the
team to improve he needed to

Before Delving Into The Similarities And Differences Of
Before delving into the similarities and differences of each country s approach to teaching math, the
article first discusses some of the cultural differences between the way teaching, as a profession, is
viewed in Japan, the way teachers are trained to become teachers and how the Japanese school system
differs from that of the United States. The article then focuses on several components that contribute
to the ways math is taught, the role of homework and seatwork and how each are viewed, the
materials teachers choose to use to teach their lessons and how they use them, the ultimate goal of
each lesson and how the classroom set up varies from country to country. Each aspect is given its own
section and focuses on the differences of each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Japanese teachers do not create their lessons based upon a series of steps they intend to complete but
by how they predict students will interpret the problem they present to them at every step. Japanese
teachers do not tell their students to what to do or how to approach a problem. Instead, they place
more emphasis on challenging the students to figure out all the possible ways that they could solve a
problem and let them work through it themselves before discussing their findings as an entire class
(Hiebert, et al., 2003). In this manner, the students are applying concepts that they have learned from
previous lessons in order to come to a solution towards a problem that they have never seen before.
Once they have done this, it is believed that they can provide evidence as to why a problem is correct.
In short, it is the Japanese belief that students will not understand the underlying concept of a problem
if they are not forced to figure it out by themselves. Even when they make mistakes, the Japanese
believe it is in the students best interests to complete the problem and then try to make sense of why
their reasoning led them to the wrong answer so that they will not make a similar mistake in the future
(Hiebert, et al., 2003). The American teaching philosophy is vastly different from that of Japan s
teaching philosophy. Instead of allowing students to

Reasons to Turn Someone Down
You should write a letter of recommendation only if you can honestly write a supportive letter for
someone for a given position. After all, a letter of recommendation is supposed to be a tool for helping
people obtain what they are after. If you don t know the candidate well enough to write a good letter,
let the person know. He or she will probably ask someone else. If you do know the candidate well but
have some reservations, let the person know about your concerns, and leave it up to him or her to
decide whether you should still write the letter.
PREPARATION
Read Some Sample Letters
If you have never written a letter of recommendation before, read a stack of reference letters to see
what works and what doesn t. Most faculty have access to graduate student applications and the letters
submitted. Junior faculty can also ask their more experienced colleagues to share sample letters they
have written or have received from applicants (blocking out names and other personal information).
The resource section of this chapter provides links to sample letters.
Collect Information
Once you know what a letter of recommendation looks like, make sure you find out as much as
possible about the candidate for whom you are writing. One of the worst things you can do is to write
a letter that is too generic. Ask for the following information:

Essay On Ruby Bridges
Born on September 8th 1960, six years later Ruby Bridges would be the first African American child
to attend an all white southern elementary school. After moving from her hometown Tylertown,
Mississippi to New Orleans, Louisiana in hope of a better life she was one of the many black children
chosen to take the test. This test would determine whether the schools would become integrated or not
obviously being designed for them to fail, but six passed one being Ruby. In November of 1960 when
the Louisiana State Legislature could no longer fight segregation in schools Ruby would be the only
African American child attending William Frantz Elementary School. Ruby paved the way for Civil
Rights actions, this makes her a Civil Rights Activist Leader and an inspiration to many.
At the age of just six Ruby became a big part of the Civil Rights Movement. On that first day, federal
marshals drove Ruby and her mother to school. Two marshals walked in front of them and two behind
as they climbed the stairs and entered William Frantz School. While segregations screamed outside,

A Fog Horn Analysis
The story starts off talking about the fog horn. When I started to read this I had no clue what a fog
horn was or what it was used for. A fog horn is a like a siren that goes off every fifteen minutes or so
and it warns the ships that around it that there is land near and to watch out. It is normally put on a
light house so that if you can t see the light maybe you can hear the horn. Both the light and the horn
are protective barriers for the ship captains. They protect them from running into the shore. There is
two people that take care of the light house and the fog horn and they are McDunn and the narrator.
They both have to spend their time living in the light house and make sure that the light and the horn
are in perfect working order. They have to help watch out for any ships that may show up that get too
close to the shore. Feeling like two birds in the grey sky, McDunn and I sent the light touching out,
red, then white, then red again, to eye the lonely ships (Bradbury 1). ... Show more content on

I compared it to the lock ness monster. It is a big figure that cries every time the fog horn cries. I
believe that it thought it was just another thing like him that was able to be on land. It thought that it
loved the light house. The monster opened its great toothed mouth and the sound that came from it
was the sound of the Fog Horn itself (Bradbury 3). The moral of this story is that you can t love
something or someone that doesn t love you back. There has to be a mutual love between two things.
The beast loved the tower but the tower didn t know how to love so it couldn t love the beast back. It
is the same with people if you think you love someone but they don t love you back you truly do not

No matter how many years you have kept them, they WILL sting you! Bees, like many other insects
and even animals are quite protective of their territories and their honey. So you will most definitely
need protective gear even if you are a seasoned beekeeper. A beekeeper hat is therefore one of the
most important part of that gear. The moment you think of protection against the stings, the hat should
be your first thought. A beekeeper hat is a specially designed hat that ensures you are kept safe of the

Plastic hats for instance are quite effective in terms of the clarity whilst looking through them but at
the same time they can make you feel stuffed up in there because of the ventilation system. The best
types are the ones attached together with a veil that is at least shoulder long. The mesh should be tight
enough to not allow the bees to slip through the holes. The beekeeper hat as is with other protective
clothing should be white in color. Bees don t consider the white color as a threat. However, just show
up in a dark colored suit or protective clothing and you are in for a tempest like no other (bee style).
For some reason, they do not like the color white and will get distracted and not see you as an enemy

Commentary On Date Rape
I found this play difficult to read. The overall tone of the piece was tinged with sadness. As I read, I
would have to occasionally put it down to keep from crying. I m not exactly sure why this piece
affected me so emotionally, but I feel that an emotional response to artwork is pretty significant. As I
felt like crying, I was surprised by the section which talks about whiteness and a prescriptive notion
that people shouldn t be emotional. The lady in blue states ...yes let s go on and be white...let s think
our way out of feeling (shange 54). This was interesting commentary on the way in which dominant
culture undervalues the body and emotions. Certainly all people have the capacity to be emotional and

It was violent and in many ways another sort of bodily invasion. First the speaker must endure the
brutality and humiliation of rape, and then she must endure the pain and danger of this medical
procedure. This brought me back to Rich s Compulsory heterosexuality and her complication of
consent and choice. I would very firmly argue that abortion should be an option for women, but I
wonder how this procedure can be free from coercion within a violent patriarchal rape culture. I also
found that the mixture of experiences this play portrays is very important. These women can share
certain aspects of their experience, but they are far from the same. I found the lady in blue s story
especially impactful. She is a clear embodiment of the way in which trauma and tragedy can make one
feel that they must be cold and distant to survive and avoid further brutality. She argues that nice is
such a rip off and I can certainly see her point (shange 53). The way in which that bitterness is used
against each of the characters is also beautifully written and incredibly

The Old Man And The Sea By Siddhartha Gautama
In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully
you let go of things not meant for you was beautifully said by Siddhartha Gautama and perfectly
emcompasses what his life was truly all about. The life of Gautama can be recognized as remarkable
because when analyzed, it is clear that he created a foundation for himself that not only survived his
own death, but also all of the changing decades that passed thereafter. This foundation was Buddhism
and through this, he created multiple concepts or sermons, as he referred to them, that followed such
as the Eightfold Path and Nirvana. Siddhartha s life is still symbolic of a journey or cycle that ends

He also discovered the Four Noble Truths and they can be simplified to; life is suffering, suffering is
caused by a crave or thirst, satisfaction is enlightenment and the Eightfold Path frees the practicers
from suffering. Thereafter, the great Buddha lived for an estimated total of eighty years in which he
spent travelling and preaching the Dharma, which is the given name to Buddha s teachings that have
been passed down for more than fourteen centuries.
Being that Buddha s entire life from adulthood to end revolved around ending one s suffering, it is
only suitable to speak of the end of suffering; the Eightfold Path. The Eightfold Path is considered to
be the heart of Buddhism and when practiced, it can help humans to see life realistically and without
delusions. The first path is right view and concompasses the Four Noble Truths and the Three Marks
of Existence, which are; Everything is impermanent, suffering is a part of existence and nothing exists
in and of itself, without dependencies (Secular Buddhism). When a person fully understands and
retains the information from the truths and the marks, they then see the world and themselves from a
viewpoint without delusion, hatred or greed. Right intention or the second path says to be mindful of
what one s intentions with others and their actions because intentions that stem from anger, resentment
or greed are more likely to do harm in

The Advantages Of Homeschooling
Homeschooling
Homeschooling something that s grown over time and is become popular in homes. The children are
taught at home, by either the parents or a teacher that comes to the home a few times a week, or every
day like normal schooling. Children being schooled at home get many options when learning, and also
get to grow around the home. Homeschooling is a smart idea for parents to consider for their kids
because of different socioeconomic factors in the child s life, keeps the child safer, and gives them
more opportunity to use religious instruction in what they are learning.
When parents are choosing to homeschool, or put their children in public schools they look at the
different socioeconomic factors in their lives. These socio economic problems help in the decision to
homeschool their children. Depending on how many kids are living in the home, it may be easier to
homeschool their kids instead of on sending them to public school. homeschooled students were more
likely than public or private schooled students who are living in families with three or more children
(Princiotta and Bielick, Web). Parents that are living with three or more children, it is easier for the
parents to school from the home instead of sending them all to public school. If the guardians were
tight with money and couldn t afford to buy uniforms or buy them all the clothes they all need, it
would be a lot cheaper to have them hand me downs for the children. Another thing is if the children

Examples Of Suspense In The Cask Of Amontillado
Authors use many elements in their story to increase the suspense. Edgar Allan Poe makes his stories
intense and dark, just like The Cask of Amontillado . Poe uses irony and elements of setting in The
Cask of Amontillado to increase the suspense in the story. Poe uses irony in The Cask of Amontillado
to increase the suspense by making obvious hints to Fortunato that he will die soon. Fortunato clearly
did not get the hints. One irony is when Montresor told Fortunato And I to your long life . This is
verbal irony. Montresor clearly does not mean that he knows that Fortunato will be buried alive. Poe
uses verbal irony a lot in the text, he uses it to make the plot more suspenseful. Another example of
irony is Montresor s family motto

many cheerleaders from different gyms crowding the airplane. It made me realize what I was walking

Social Inequality In Urbanization
Urbanization is a complex phenomenon that brought multitudes of diverse social groups together into
one central location. Suddenly cities began to overflow with new cultures and ethnicities that gave
communities vibrant characteristics and new life. People were able to access modern conveniences
and socially network among thousands of individuals, all within one city. The economics of the city
allowed for greater production and a thriving business system that promoted politics and business.
Products from all over the world could be accessible somewhere in the vast cities that expanded across
the United States. However, even from the beginning of this glorious migration to cities, inequality
was embedded in the social system of stigmas and prejudice for minority populations (Gottdiener, M.,
Hutchison, R., Ryan, M., 2015). As wealth and prosperity consumed the dominating Caucasian
population, inequality and disadvantage settled over minorities such as Blacks and Latinos. Quickly,
racial and ethic groups divided into segregated communities within urban societies inner cities. The
pseudo blanket of togetherness , as one community, was hiding the disadvantages and biases that
limited the growth of minority groups in economics, society, and social mobility. Limitations were set
by the dominating social groups that encouraged discrimination and prejudice towards minorities
(Gottdiener, 2015). Even after decades of civil rights movements and freedom for all protests, little

using power, and taking charge for one s actions. Both Oedipus Rex and Macbeth are disasters.
Sophocles and Shakespeare wrote these plays to teach a simple lesson for average people. Oedipus
and Macbeth are both men that have a lot of power but are not capable of keeping it. Both experienced
many contradictory choices that formed their character traits, such as man versus nature, man versus
action, and man versus person. Oedipus and Macbeth are rulers who fell in their own burdens because
of what they lack. Initially, Oedipus and Macbeth became kings

Romanticism In The Tree Of Life By Terrence Malick
When I first heard of the word Romanticism , I automatically assumed it was more of an intricate way
to say romance but romanticism is much more than pursuing someone. Romanticism is a movement of
art and literature that formulated around the late 18th century that is characterized by strong emotions,
individualism and the glorification of all past and nature. The Tree of Life directed by Terrence Malick
is a perfect example of romanticism and conforms well with Hugo s manifesto on Romanticism. It is
about the story of a family in Waco, Texas in 1950 s that loses one of their sons. Growing up, the
eldest son and struggles with his parents conflicting teachings. Later in life he looks back on his
childhood and through his memories, tries to find the meaning of life. Terrence s film complies with
Hugo s preface on romanticism by featuring moments from the past, incorporation of nature and
containing organized religion. In The Tree of Life the journey begins when we learn that a son has
died and it takes us on this course of the oldest brother s Jack, reminiscence growing up in this family.
As we see him mature in age, his innocence is lost because of his father s questioning family ideals
and rules. His father instructs these household manners against his brothers and Jack when their father
doesn t follow them himself. So eventually we see the son s back talk to him and revolt against their
father. Their mother is a bystander whenever their father is around, but when he

Weaknesses of Incremental Risk Charge Model Under BCBS s approval, banks are expected to
improve their own IRC models to calculate risks for individual positions or sets of positions (BCBS,
2009b). It means the Committee hopes banks will have their own choice of liquidity horizon which is
appropriate with their business without any issued industry benchmarks or standards (Stretton, 2011).
However, it leads to inconsistence within banking system. Furthermore, supervisors have to face with
more difficulties in process of evaluating banks IRC model. Although IRC helps bank to capture risks
more effectively, especially when market and credit risks collide, there is a significant weakness still
be existing. It is the overlap of counterparty credit risk cooperated with over the counters (OTC) and
repo style transactions between IRC and CVA (Stretton, 2011). As a consequence, it will lead to
duplicate capital charge for the banks. Suggested by Linsz (2010) the corporate Treasurer of Bank of
America, the Committee should apply an integrated approach to combine the overlapping risks by
deleting the risk above in IRC model, hence build up more accurate capital charge for banks. In fact,
Bank of America thinks duplicated capital charge is inappropriate with risk management practices
(Linsz, 2010). 3. Effectiveness of Incremental Risk Charge Model According to BCBS (2009b), IRC
model mainly compounds two types of risks: default risk and credit migration risk. The origin

Tackling Environmental Problems Today Is More Difficult
With the world forever changing politicians are chosen by the populace to make decisions based on
the needs of the people. Current political gridlock in this nation has made it extremely difficult to pass
legislation pertain to the economy, workforce and health. While these items are discussed daily by
political pundits one issue that equally important is usually placed on the backburner due to political
posturing the health of the planet. Tackling environmental problems today is more difficult because
the nature of the problems has changed: where such problems were once primarily scientific and
technocratic in nature, they are now almost exclusively problems of politics . (Turin) This posturing
has become a major issue for society and could lead to dire consequences in the future. It is time for us
to come together and address the issues of political influence, in order for us to have a meaningful
conversation we must discussion the influence of special interest groups, understand how politicians
manipulate and use false authority to push agendas and also discover the importance of citizen
involvement.
Lobbyists for special interest are hired to attempt to try to convince congressional committee members
to act in their favor on issues that were important to them . (Wright, 45) This tactic is used on the state,
local and federal levels of government, while not all lobbyist fight for causes that maybe harmful to
the environment. Some special interest groups are designed

Title: Best gap wedge
With the short game accounting for more than 50% of shots you play in a round, improving your
wedge play is the first step to shooting a lower score. The wedge is the most important aspect when
playing golf. Acting as the goalkeepers of our game by saving us shots from both turf and sand, golf
wedges come in various lofts, finishes, bounce and grinds to help us get closer to the pin from
anywhere inside of 125 yards. Gap wedges range in loft from 50 to 55 degrees and are a compromise
between a pitching wedge and a sand wedge. A gap wedge is particularly critical to use today because
the 5 degree difference in degrees between the SW and PW in the 1960s has now grown to exactly 10
degrees. This has made room for golf club companies to respond by inventing a new club to fill the
gap , and of course, encourage us to buy more products.

Who Is The Protagonist In The Crucible
The Crucible John Proctor in this story is described as a man of his word and for the most part honest
in everything he says or is asked to answer. He also has problems of his own to, like not being faithful
to his wife at times or mostly at all times do to problems, and also having a secret but not intimate
relationship with Abagail Williams. This is why I strongly feel like he is the protagonists of the story
because of his failure in his relationship, his guilt because of it, and his redemption at the end of the
story. A reason that supports this claim is his secret relationship with Abagail Williams and how she
uses that to cause problems within his relationship. The other reason that he is the main protagonists is
because of his dying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have given you my soul; leave me my name . This shows him saying that he doesn t want to write his
name because if was to sign it all he would have is what he believes in and not the thing he has once in
his life. He was also done playing this game of lies and sin, so he tears up his confession paper about
all the other people. So, like I said he is the protagonist because of what his problems bring out in him
but that is not the only thing that shows who he truly is. The other reason he rather choose to hang is
so that he doesn t let such an innocent girl like his wife Elizbeth die for his mistakes. He states it very
clear when is talking to Mary Warren about the situation and he says (Miller.2.435) My wife will
never die for me! I will bring your guts into your mouth but that goodness will not die for me! . Even
though he may not be entirely interested or truthful to Elizbeth, he still cared for her and would rather
himself die then an innocent woman for him. While he was doing this his wife was supposed to be
persuading him even though she knew she couldn t to lie but didn t because she understood his need

Criminology and Socio Legal Studies and French Studies, two programs that have allowed me to build
on my research skills. Moreover, a Social Seminar in Social Institutions course that I took in fourth

proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly in Word and Excel, as I use both programs for my writing

New-Hire Onboarding and Information Security Essay
New employees, full time or non employee contractors, present a number of risks in regards to
information security. These risks can be mitigated with well designed and thorough interview and

for interviewers and hiring managers to follow to allow for high risk potential candidates to be filtered

Employees and non employee contract workers must all be vetted to ensure they do not pose threats to
the organization s physical and information assets. It is up to the organization to determine what levels
of access or levels of restriction should be in place on employees and contractors post hire. These
levels should be identified prior to the hiring process to drive how thorough the candidate screening
should be. The amount of background checks and reference checks for a waiter at a restaurant may not
be as thorough as those of a candidate for a network engineering role in the restaurant s corporate
headquarters IT department. Once a position s scope of work and access has been determined, the job
must be posted to receive responses from interested candidates. It is important for the posting to avoid
revealing access privileges to prospective employees when it advertises open positions (Whitman
Mattord, 2011, p494). The job description must contain specifics about the job and its duties while not
divulging too much detail that may open a part of the organization to risk by providing sensitive
details. Interviews are used as a tool to identify a candidate to hire, usually based on a field of
potential candidates resumes. The interview is a good resource for the hiring manager and human
resources to talk with candidates one on one to verify if the candidate actually matches some of the

Saint Patrick and St Patrick s Day

Fourth Quarter Report
Part 1: The process of Canonization is the process that a person must go through to become a saint.
This began around the tenth century. Pope John Paul II changed the process in 1983. Here is the
process. The first requirement is that the person must be dead for at least five years. They must be a
very holy person and a servant of God. Then the person s local church members must start a petition
to request that this person should become a saint. The Bishop will look into this person s life and
decide whether or not to pass this person on to the next step to the Pope. If he does a couple of
theologians will look more deeply into this person s life and evaluate the person. People who are
martyrs will automatically become a saint because they should amazing faith and holiness. Many of
the first saints were martyrs because they were persecuting Christians in the time of Jesus and a long
time after the ascension. The next step is to have at least two miracles credited to his or her name. If
they only have one miracle they will be named blessed, just like Blessed Edmund Rice. When they get
two miracles and they will in fact become a recognized saint in the Catholic Church.
Part 2: St. Patrick Saint Patrick is one of the most well known saints in the Catholic Church. Along

Abortion Matters of Life and Death Casts Dispersions on...
Abortion
A. Jonathan Glover, in his article Matters of Life and Death casts dispersions on both pro abortion and
anti abortion debates citing them as too knee jerk emotional reactions diminishing the inherent
complexity of the other side (1. Glover, CC2006, p. 0110). Glover comprehensively addresses the key
points of both sides of the abortion debate and evaluates their inherent virtues, especially for those
who hold these opinions, then methodically points out its flaws. Ultimately, Glover comes to the
conclusion that though a fetus is a human at the moment of conception, the right to abort lies with the
mother and her own self determination.
Glover begins his article by claiming that the status of the fetus, historically, has been ... Show more

There are essentially three objections to murder: it takes away the victim s autonomy, it prevents the
victim from years of life it was due, and the effects of others who had some relation to the victim (6.
Glover, CC2006, p. 0110). Casting aside religious teachings because of the variety of religions, Glover
focuses on these three objections. Glover claims that a fetus has no real autonomy of its own, thus can
not be afforded its own rights and that even if the fetus did have rights, the rights and autonomy of the
mother supercede the rights of the fetus (7. Glover, CC2006, p. 0113). In this way, the second reason
also falls by the leeway because years of life due to the mother if her life was threatened by the
pregnancy or the years she has to invest in raising an unwanted child is usurped by the birth of the
fetus. And finally, though not explicitly mentioned, the only other person that a fetus has any relation
or interaction with is the mother, thus if the mother wants the fetus aborted, the moral implications
that arise reside solely with the mother.
It is in this way that Glover returns to his original assertion that to deny women the right to control
what happens in their bodies is wrong, but cautions that a fetus is a human right at conception, so
ending the life of the fetus is equal to ending the life of any human, yet the rights afforded to women
trump all of this and whatever moral pitfalls that a

1. The results obtained clearly prove the hypothesis stated as the average rate of reaction of the chalk

The average rate of reaction in seconds in room temperature water was 57.34, this decreased to 68.93
seconds when the chalk was placed in iced water and then when placed in boiling water there was a
dramatic increase in the rate of reaction to 23.77 seconds.

  • 2. Thesis Statement Of Sweatshops The Benefits Behind Sweatshops Thesis statement: Sweatshops, when left to operate without government intervention, are the most efficient way of out poverty. Introductory rationale: When it comes to social justice issues, most people believe the government needs to solve the problem. Social justice in sweatshops is no exception. In my research, I have found that what people see as the cause of injustice in developing countries, sweatshops, are actually what is responsible for lifting people up out of poverty. As a result, any sort of government regulation will fail to solve the problem. The audience I am writing for is a diverse group of peers who are concerned with social justice though they may have different solutions and beliefs about the topic. My goal in this draft is to expand their knowledge and show them the benefits of not interfering with the free market. I. Claim 1: Sweatshops increase the standards of living for the workers and their communities 1. Evidence: 1) Kristof, Nicholas. Where Sweatshops Are a Dream. • 3. Jackie Robinson Essays Jackie Robinson Jackie Robinson and integration are two phrases that cannot be segregated. Whether he liked it or not, he played the star role in the integration of society during the time that he played Major League Baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers. His heroic journey that landed him in the Majors shows, amp;#8220;how integration has come to baseball and how it can be achieved in every corner of the land ; (Robinson 16). But this amazing triumph over the Jim Crow laws could only have been possible in New York as Robinson says, amp;#8220;Cooperstown, New York, and Birmingham, Alabama, are both in the Unites States. The Dodgers got their name from the electric streetcars in Brooklyn that were so dangerous that people had to be skilled amp;#8220;dodgers ; of them in order not to get run over. Why was Brooklyn the place that integration could occur? After World War Two, Brooklyn had transformed from a white middle class population to a mix of blacks, Latinos and Jews. amp;#8220;About half of Brooklyn amp;#8217;s population was Jewish; among the Dodger faithful, Jews were probably far more ready than any other major group, such as the Irish or the Italians, to identify with the fight against the Jim Crow embodied by Robinson ; (Rampersad 220 221). Obviously, the Jews related to the blacks amp;#8217; plight against society amp;#8217;s belittlement of them and the similar discriminations they both faced. Many of the Robinson amp;#8217;s friends were Jewish, perhaps because amp;#8220;the Robinsons found Jews far more ready than other whites to accept them socially ; (Rampersad 221). Jackie Robinson was able to live successfully in Brooklyn, and not only because he was a great athletic superstar but because he had many friends and supporters that didn amp;#8217;t consider him an outsider. They let him live amongst them, supported him, and befriended him and his family. Rachel Robinson (Jackie amp;#8217;s wife) sums it up by saying that, amp;#8220;We didn amp;#8217;t think of them as Jewish, unless we were dealing with a specific organization. They were simply ... According to the film, Hickory, Indiana is a place where basketball players are treated like gods . The town takes basketball very seriously, it is literally a way of life for them. The Hickory Huskers may not be the best team in the area, but the community is very supportive of the team. Every week the whole town comes together for the games to cheer on the Hickory Huskers and the townspeople have meeting to try coming up with solutions to help better their performance. However, the towns approach is aggressive and their strategies to win are different from Coach Dales. For example, a group of men from the town barge into one of the team s practices and criticize Coach Dale that they should be practicing with the ball instead of doing strength exercises. The article then focuses on several components that contribute to the ways math is taught, the role of homework and seatwork and how each are viewed, the materials teachers choose to use to teach their lessons and how they use them, the ultimate goal of each lesson and how the classroom set up varies from country to country. Japanese teachers do not create their lessons based upon a series of steps they intend to complete but by how they predict students will interpret the problem they present to them at every step. Japanese teachers do not tell their students to what to do or how to approach a problem. Instead, they place more emphasis on challenging the students to figure out all the possible ways that they could solve a problem and let them work through it themselves before discussing their findings as an entire class (Hiebert, et al., 2003). In this manner, the students are applying concepts that they have learned from previous lessons in order to come to a solution towards a problem that they have never seen before. Once they have done this, it is believed that they can provide evidence as to why a problem is correct. In short, it is the Japanese belief that students will not understand the underlying concept of a problem if they are not forced to figure it out by themselves. Even when they make mistakes, the Japanese believe it is in the students best interests to complete the problem and then try to make sense of why their reasoning led them to the wrong answer so that they will not make a similar mistake in the future (Hiebert, et al., 2003). After all, a letter of recommendation is supposed to be a tool for helping people obtain what they are after. If you don t know the candidate well enough to write a good letter, let the person know. He or she will probably ask someone else. If you do know the candidate well but have some reservations, let the person know about your concerns, and leave it up to him or her to decide whether you should still write the letter. PREPARATION Read Some Sample Letters If you have never written a letter of recommendation before, read a stack of reference letters to see what works and what doesn t. Most faculty have access to graduate student applications and the letters submitted. Junior faculty can also ask their more experienced colleagues to share sample letters they have written or have received from applicants (blocking out names and other personal information). A fog horn is a like a siren that goes off every fifteen minutes or so and it warns the ships that around it that there is land near and to watch out. It is normally put on a light house so that if you can t see the light maybe you can hear the horn. Both the light and the horn are protective barriers for the ship captains. They protect them from running into the shore. There is two people that take care of the light house and the fog horn and they are McDunn and the narrator. They both have to spend their time living in the light house and make sure that the light and the horn are in perfect working order. They have to help watch out for any ships that may show up that get too close to the shore. The life of Gautama can be recognized as remarkable because when analyzed, it is clear that he created a foundation for himself that not only survived his own death, but also all of the changing decades that passed thereafter. The children are taught at home, by either the parents or a teacher that comes to the home a few times a week, or every day like normal schooling. Children being schooled at home get many options when learning, and also get to grow around the home. Homeschooling is a smart idea for parents to consider for their kids because of different socioeconomic factors in the child s life, keeps the child safer, and gives them more opportunity to use religious instruction in what they are learning. When parents are choosing to homeschool, or put their children in public schools they look at the different socioeconomic factors in their lives. These socio economic problems help in the decision to homeschool their children. Suddenly cities began to overflow with new cultures and ethnicities that gave communities vibrant characteristics and new life. People were able to access modern conveniences and socially network among thousands of individuals, all within one city. The economics of the city allowed for greater production and a thriving business system that promoted politics and business. Products from all over the world could be accessible somewhere in the vast cities that expanded across the United States. However, even from the beginning of this glorious migration to cities, inequality was embedded in the social system of stigmas and prejudice for minority populations (Gottdiener, M., Hutchison, R., Ryan, M., 2015). As wealth and prosperity consumed the dominating Caucasian population, inequality and disadvantage settled over minorities such as Blacks and Latinos. Quickly, racial and ethic groups divided into segregated communities within urban societies inner cities. The pseudo blanket of togetherness , as one community, was hiding the disadvantages and biases that limited the growth of minority groups in economics, society, and social mobility. Romanticism In The Tree Of Life By Terrence Malick When I first heard of the word Romanticism , I automatically assumed it was more of an intricate way to say romance but romanticism is much more than pursuing someone. Romanticism is a movement of art and literature that formulated around the late 18th century that is characterized by strong emotions, individualism and the glorification of all past and nature. The Tree of Life directed by Terrence Malick is a perfect example of romanticism and conforms well with Hugo s manifesto on Romanticism. It is about the story of a family in Waco, Texas in 1950 s that loses one of their sons. Growing up, the eldest son and struggles with his parents conflicting teachings. Later in life he looks back on his childhood and through his memories, tries to find the meaning of life. Terrence s film complies with Hugo s preface on romanticism by featuring moments from the past, incorporation of nature and containing organized religion. In The Tree of Life the journey begins when we learn that a son has died and it takes us on this course of the oldest brother s Jack, reminiscence growing up in this family. As we see him mature in age, his innocence is lost because of his father s questioning family ideals and rules. Weaknesses of Incremental Risk Charge Model Under BCBS s approval, banks are expected to improve their own IRC models to calculate risks for individual positions or sets of positions (BCBS, 2009b). It means the Committee hopes banks will have their own choice of liquidity horizon which is appropriate with their business without any issued industry benchmarks or standards (Stretton, 2011). However, it leads to inconsistence within banking system. Furthermore, supervisors have to face with more difficulties in process of evaluating banks IRC model. Although IRC helps bank to capture risks more effectively, especially when market and credit risks collide, there is a significant weakness still be existing. It is the overlap of counterparty credit risk cooperated with over the counters (OTC) and repo style transactions between IRC and CVA (Stretton, 2011). As a consequence, it will lead to duplicate capital charge for the banks. Suggested by Linsz (2010) the corporate Treasurer of Bank of America, the Committee should apply an integrated approach to combine the overlapping risks by deleting the risk above in IRC model, hence build up more accurate capital charge for banks. In fact, Bank of America thinks duplicated capital charge is inappropriate with risk management practices (Linsz, 2010). 3. The wedge is the most important aspect when playing golf. Acting as the goalkeepers of our game by saving us shots from both turf and sand, golf wedges come in various lofts, finishes, bounce and grinds to help us get closer to the pin from anywhere inside of 125 yards. Gap wedges range in loft from 50 to 55 degrees and are a compromise between a pitching wedge and a sand wedge. A gap wedge is particularly critical to use today because the 5 degree difference in degrees between the SW and PW in the 1960s has now grown to exactly 10 degrees. • 34. Abortion Matters of Life and Death Casts Dispersions on... Abortion A. Jonathan Glover, in his article Matters of Life and Death casts dispersions on both pro abortion and anti abortion debates citing them as too knee jerk emotional reactions diminishing the inherent complexity of the other side (1. Glover, CC2006, p. 0110). Glover comprehensively addresses the key points of both sides of the abortion debate and evaluates their inherent virtues, especially for those who hold these opinions, then methodically points out its flaws. Ultimately, Glover comes to the conclusion that though a fetus is a human at the moment of conception, the right to abort lies with the mother and her own self determination. Glover begins his article by claiming that the status of the fetus, historically, has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are essentially three objections to murder: it takes away the victim s autonomy, it prevents the victim from years of life it was due, and the effects of others who had some relation to the victim (6. Glover, CC2006, p. 0110). Casting aside religious teachings because of the variety of religions, Glover focuses on these three objections. Glover claims that a fetus has no real autonomy of its own, thus can not be afforded its own rights and that even if the fetus did have rights, the rights and autonomy of the mother supercede the rights of the fetus (7. Glover, CC2006, p. 0113). In this way, the second reason also falls by the leeway because years of life due to the mother if her life was threatened by the pregnancy or the years she has to invest in raising an unwanted child is usurped by the birth of the fetus. And finally, though not explicitly mentioned, the only other person that a fetus has any relation or interaction with is the mother, thus if the mother wants the fetus aborted, the moral implications that arise reside solely with the mother. It is in this way that Glover returns to his original assertion that to deny women the right to control what happens in their bodies is wrong, but cautions that a fetus is a human right at conception, so ending the life of the fetus is equal to ending the life of any human, yet the rights afforded to women trump all of this and whatever moral pitfalls that a ... The average rate of reaction in seconds in room temperature water was 57.34, this decreased to 68.93 seconds when the chalk was placed in iced water and then when placed in boiling water there was a dramatic increase in the rate of reaction to 23.77 seconds. 2.
