Ambiguistic Role Of Semantics
MODE OF INDISTINCTNESS IN SEMANTICS Abstract Language is a mode of communication
which helps us to converse with each other. Linguistics is the base to scientifically learn the language.
Grammar also has main role in learning a language. Semantics is one of the types of Linguistics that
deals with the study of words and its meaning. By using a word having same structure it causes
Ambiguity (indistinctness) in some place. If a word gives more than one meaning it is called
Ambiguous. This manuscript deals with the types of Ambiguities in Semantics.

M.Breal is credited with coining the word semantics in his Essai de Semantique (1897) as a name for
Philosophical enquires . In 1894, the English word semantics occurred in a paper presented to the
American Philosophical Association: Reflected Meaning: a point in Semantics . In 1996 A.J.Greimas
produced Structural Semantics which viewed semantics as an exploration of signification anchored in
the world, perceived through senses. Halliday nevertheless feels that A Language is a system for
making meanings, a semantic system, with other systems for encoding the meanings it produces. The
term semantics doesn t merely refer to the gist of words; it is the intact practice of meaning of a
language, uttered by Grammar as well as by Vocabulary. Semantics as a branch of Linguistics is
mainly concerned with how the meaning is conveyed by the Linguistic system consisting of different
units and structure like Sentences, Phrases, Words, and Morphemes etc. Philosopher study Semantics
to understand good evil right wrong etc. In term the approach of the Philosophers is also made use of
by Linguistics. Anthropologists study semantics to understand the cultural and behavioral patterns
reflected in Language. The Psychologists look at semantics from the point of view stimulus and
response, signs and signified

Benjy
Benjy is the first narrator out of four in William Faulkner s The Sound and the Fury. He is unable to
speak, so his story is told through his thoughts and memories. Despite Benjy s mental limitations he is
the most illuminating and most important narrator in the novel, as Faulkner intended. His memories
reveal more in the story than any other narrator because he is able to remember without concealing
information. Faulkner uses Benjy s narration to build a foundation and pretense for the novel, creating
a puzzle for the reader. Benjy is mentally retarded and has no sense of time, leaving the Compson
family and staff to look after him. He seems to have limited control over himself and his body as
shown very early on in the novel. He is unable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He d better stay in. Benjamin. Stop that, now.
It wont hurt him. Uncle Maury said.
You, Benjamin. Mother said. If you dont be good, you ll have to go to the kitchen. (Faulkner 5)
This sets up reader s understanding that the Compsons are not a cohesive, unified family. It shows
how many voices and opinions are involved in everything Benjy does and how much he is around the
entire family, making his thoughts very important to the novel because while he might not have been
crucial to the actual situation, he was in the room listening. Benjy s credibility as a narration is often
reduced because of his limitations, however he continually adds to the novel s background and grows
as a character. Roggenbuck explains how he grows throughout the novel:
Critics also cite Benjy s frequent use of the verb go as an example of his limitations, but in this, too,
Benjy changes as he grows. Though as a child Benjy does often use went to describe his motions and
the motions of objects and people around him . . . by 1928 he more frequently and habitually settles
for went and went away to describe how things move, signaling both his increased passivity and his
diminished involvement with people or objects not immediately present.

Benefits And Benefits Of Teaching Kids
There are many benefits to teaching kids how to make a map or plan, and apply it to a project that they
want to work on. Over the past few years, many families have started planting their own gardens in
their yard during the spring months. A garden map is a great way to plan out your spring garden, so
that it looks just the way you want it to. There are some plants that can not be planted to close to each
other. For example cucumbers can easily overtake anything they are planted next too. They can grab
onto the plants next to them and also block out sunlight. That is why a map is certainly a good idea.
For your lesson plan have each of your children, draw a picture of your yard. If the weather is nice
outside, why not take them out in the yard and allow them to draw a sketch first hand. After your
children have finished drawing, their picture of the garden, sit down with them and decide where you
want the garden to go. If you have more than one child, why not give each of them a small patch of
land. Each of your kids can pick where they want their patch of land to go. Have them indicate this on
their garden map. They can even set up how and where they want to plant the seeds in the garden. A
good way to incorporate math into this lesson is measure the distance between each plant. Look up
what the right distance between each plant should be. Most of this information can easily be found
online. If they write the measurements down on the map, when it is time to plant they can

Analysis Of The Poem Adair Billy
Adair Billy is quite connected to her Indian identity, although it does not seem like it. She lives in
New Orleans, Louisiana, working as a stockbroker for a large firm, where she is highly sought after
and praised for her abilities. She made a name for herself there by saving many clients a lot of money,
she woke up to a voice telling her about a company that was not doing well. She removed her clients
from the firm going under, many believing that it was her Native upbringing, and they are not wrong.
In addition to this, Adair has a strong interest in early Indian commerce and relations within New
Orleans. This causes her to believe that her job as a stockbroker is connected to her Indian identity, the
narrator saying, Adair tells herself she s following a tradition established by her ancestors. After all,
Indians were the first commodity traders of the New World (Howe 42). She has found a way to
incorporate her background into her life, even though she is not living in Durant, Oklahoma anymore.
Her Indian identity is present within her career and interests, different from the way Auda s is present,
and different from the way Tema Billy s is as well. Tema Billy no longer lives in Durant, but is close
by in Dallas, Texas. Tema is an artist of all kinds; she first worked with the American Indian dance
company and made the move to New York City. She worked odd jobs and eventually took up acting,
playing roles as a Spanish, Greek, and Italian woman. She then has a son with

1.
2. Explain how bacterial plasmids differ from bacterial chromosomes.
Bacterial plasmids differ from bacterial chromosomes by not being essential to bacterial growth and
metabolism. They are extracellular chromosomes that contain DNA. Bacterial chromosomes are
essential for bacterial survival.
3. Differentiate between pili and fimbriae.
Pili attach two bacterial cells together, while fimbriae attach bacteria to other surfaces.
4. How does polar flagellation differ from peritrichous flagellation?
Polar flagella differs from peritrichous flagella ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What causes a bacterial cell to run versus tumble?
Chemotaxis (chemical signal) and phototaxis (light stimulus) stimulate the flagellation to rotate
counterclockwise (run) or clockwise (tumble).
6. Compare the cell envelopes of gram positive and gram negative bacteria.
a. What function does peptidoglycan serve?
The peptidoglycan provides support to the cells structure.
b. Give a simple description of its structure.
It has a repeating framework of long glycan chains cross linked by amino acids. c. What happens to
the cell that has its peptidoglycan disrupted or removed? The cell will no longer have a
structural/protective support causing it to rupture from internal pressure.
7. List several functions for the outer membrane in gram negative bacteria. What is the chemical
composition of the outer membrane?
It has a lipid portion: can act as a toxin when released during an infection.
It may function as receptors and blocking immune responses.
It is also composed of poring proteins: can regulate molecules entering or leaving the cell.
8. Discuss a possible mechanism of Gram Staining in terms of differences in structure and chemistry
between the walls of gram positive and gram negative

Examples Of Grip In Softball
How to Grip the Ball
Proper grip is very crucial when holding a softball bat as well as the softball. The way you hold the
ball will determine the accuracy and speed you can apply to it. Every softball players should
understand how to grip the ball and practice the techniques.
The most usual type of grip is called the four seam grip. It is when the ball rotates in one full rotation
or from top to bottom, making the four seams visible and will travel parallel to the ground. This will
allow you to throw the ball o a better path and gives it a good spin to add more velocity.

holding an egg. Make sure your fingers are placed in the horseshoe . You will feel the most pressure
on your middle finger to make the ball spin on a the right path.
3. Upon releasing the ball, it should roll off and snap with a backspin. Having a better grip over the
ball will give you more control and higher velocity which is the whole point of a fast ball pitch.
Be Consistent with Your Grip
Keep in mind that your grip will have a sginifcant impact on other particulars such as ball movement
and wrist snap. Likewise, it will affect the feel of the softball in your hand and the basic

Enzyme Rate Lab Report

The 6°C had a rate of 0.133 kPa/sec for Trial 1 and 0.0015 kPa/sec for Trial 2, which averages out to
0.06725 kPa/sec. The 24°C had a rate of 0.083 kPa/sec for Trial 1 and 0.001 kPa/sec for Trial 2,
producing an overall average of 0.042 kPa/sec. The 34°C had a rate of 0.014 kPa/sec for Trial 1 and
0.0008 kPa/sec for Trial 2, which averages out to 0.0074 kPa/sec. In 46°C, both trials resulted in 0.00
kPa/sec, producing an average of 0.00 kPa/sec. Compared to 24°C, 34°C, and 46°C, the 6°C had the
highest rate of enzyme activity. At 46°C, there is no rate of enzyme activity. The graph presents a
direct relationship between the temperature and rate of enzyme activity. The line of best fits shows
that as temperature increases, the rate of enzyme activity decreases.
Conclusion:
If the enzyme is placed in higher temperatures than its optimal temperature, then the rate of enzyme
activity will decrease or possibly denature. This hypothesis is proven correct throughout the
experiment results and findings. In this experiment, once the enzyme was placed in a temperature
beyond its optimal temperature of 37°C, the enzyme denatured. This ... Show more content on

variables in the experiment will make it easier to see the trend on a graph. Having freezing
temperature to very hot temperatures will help determine the optimal temperature of an enzyme, at
what temperature the enzyme denatures, and how the enzyme rate of activity changes throughout the
temperature range. Another scenario that could have been done differently to improve the results of
the experiment is the agitation of the yeast in test tube should have been done in a more consistent

the goals are marker post you drive into the future landscape between where you are and where you

An assumption according to the oxford dictionary is defined as A thing that is accepted as true or as
certain to happen, without proof. According to Brookfield Hegemonic assumptions are assumptions
that we think are in our own best interests but that actually work against us in the long term. (Stephen
D. Brookfield, 1995). Unfortunately, for teachers there are a lot of hegemonic assumptions out there
regarding the best strategies to deal with classroom management, student teacher relationship,

In my learner autobiography I make reference to being nice, kind and understanding towards the
students, which I am still a strong believer of but one thing my experience as a teacher in Kinsale
Community School is the relationship you build with your students is absolutely vital for effective
teaching and learning to take place within the walls of the classroom. According to Kyriacou: A
relaxed warm and supportive ethos stems largely from the style and manner of the relationship you
establish with the pupils. Being relaxed yourself, and in particular dealing with any pupil
misbehaviour calmly helps pupils to relax too. This better enables pupils to develop curiosity and
interest in learning activities. (Kyriacou, 2007 page 69.) I would have remembering reading this quote
while preparing to go out on teaching practice and looking back on my experience now and using all
of Brookfield s lenses Learner autobiography, theory, peer observation and critical incident
questionnaires to reflect this is most definitely the biggest hegemonic assumption I took with me while
entering the classroom as a teacher in Kinsale Community School. As seen by my tutors and
cooperating teachers and by myself, which is evident in the peer observation done by my cooperating
teacher and in my tutor reports a very good relationship was built up with my students, too good in

Descriptive Essay About My Father
Sometimes I think I know everything there is to know about my father. I know he only shaves when
the greys start to show. I know he likes green tea better than black. He watches Hallmark movies at
Christmas because it reminds him of Gran. He likes to wear plaid ironically. He watched me being
born when he was seventeen years old. He tells me he loves me, not every day but every week at least.
He doesn t have to say it too often. He just loves. Even when Angelo left, he kept loving him. He kept
the little shells they had found on the beach when we drove to the Great Salt Lake. They re lined up in
a row on the bathroom windowsill. He also kept Angelo s shirts, the ones he left behind. He wears
them sometimes; the ones with holes from where sparks burned the fabric for Angelo s welding
projects. We ve got one of those, too. A welding piece. It s a bird that has its wings up in a V. It s in the
front yard of the cabin, rusty and brown. It gets older every month. Dad says it s sad that he s gone.
That s why it s dying. As if it s a real, living creature. As if it breathes, like it holds some piece of
Angelo, like it s a beacon that will bring him back. Dad sees beauty in the metal and the edges. I see
sharp points, a twisted back, an open mouth caught saying something like why do you always do this
to us or don t make this my fault or don t be so fucking sensitive. If there s something I don t know
about my dad, it s how he lived with it for so long. The cabin we live in is more of an insulated shed.
It has two lofts, a bathroom, and one big space for the couch and kitchen and the fold down table. It
was the hunting cabin that Grampa used when he was alive. It s deep in the woods, connected to the
road by a mile long driveway.
We re twenty miles from Little Pesos, which has the Walmart, library/church, ranger station and the
charter high school. I walk three miles to get to the bus stop that takes me the rest of the way. We have
classes from April to October. In winter, the weather is too unpredictable. Dad likes the cabin. He likes
the quiet and the trees that are crowded like cold children, arms wrapped around each other for
warmth. He likes to hunt, too. Grampa had showed him to shoot when he was a

How To Write An Essay On George Patton Battle
George Patton George Patton was born in San Gabriel, California on November 11, 1885. Patton was
considered one of the most successful combat generals in U.S history. In WWI he was assigned to the
Tank Corps and then in WWII he helped lead the Allies to victory in the invasion of Sicily and was
instrumental to the release of Germany from the Nazis. Patton was also one of the most complicated
military men, known for carrying pistols with ivory handles and his intemperate manner. Patton s
ruthless drive and desire for battle earned him the nickname Old Blood and Guts. Patton died on

Patton was given command of the first and second Armored Divisions and organized a training center
in the California desert soon after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. In late 1942,
Patton headed to North Africa at the head of the American force. Before the troops landed on Morocco
s Atlantic coast he gave the troops, what is now, a legendary philosophy of battle: We shall attack and
attack until we are exhausted, and then we shall attack again. Patton led the American into their first
major victory after a series of defeats. In order to prepare the U.S. 7th Army for its invasion of Sicily
Patton turned over his command in North Africa. During this time Patton s reputation suffered greatly
after slapping a soldier, who was suffering from shell shock, accusing him of cowardice. This incident
landed Patton a reprimanding from President Eisenhower and he was forced to make a public apology.
Despite this fact, the invasion of Sicily was a major

The Space Shuttle Challenger Tragedy Address Nineteen years ago, seventy three seconds after liftoff,
the space shuttle Challenger exploded and three astronauts lost their lives in a terrible accident on the
ground. The Space Shuttle Challenger Tragedy Address , delivered by President Ronald Reagan, on 28
January 1986, at the White House, in Washington, D. C. He spoke about the terrible tragedy of the
shuttle Challenger, where the nation lost three astronauts. Reagan talk about the mourning and
remembering of three legends. He discussed the seven challengers and essentially discourses to the
American public and families of seven challengers about the misfortune while comforting,
commemorating, and inspiring audiences, especially school children by the use of rhetoric. President
Ronald Reagan addresses the nation about the accident that happened nineteen years prior in which
the nation lost three crew members of the space shuttle challenger. President addresses the nation
during a time of high emotions and sadness and shared his feelings with the nation. He felt bad for the
families of seven astronauts. President Reagan responded very effectively to the rhetorical conditions
made by the seven challengers tragedy. He used ethos to communicate the shock and reassured the
importance of the space shuttle programs. President was effective and shows the emotional behavior
of astronauts, their families, the American Public, and school children about importance of space
shuttle programs. President Reagan s speech starts with the expression of pathos in which he portrays
the feeling of pain and the loss of three great challengers to the nation and shared towards the disaster.
In Challenger seven all astronauts fulfilled their duty with bravery, courage, and dedication and they
took part in the mission for the U. S. without consideration for their own lives. He spoke of the
heroism of the Challenger Seven crew while mourning and remembering with their family members.

Being Earnes
Many people have not experienced the unique work of art known as a farce. After witnessing The
Importance of Being Earnest, I have determined that a farce and a comedy can be described as
opposite to a certain extent. A farce is ordinary people in a strange situation, while a comedy is unique
people in an ordinary situation. Although not all people may see it this way, this is how I perceived
Oscar Wilde s classic which was clearly very ahead of its time. Richard Robichaux directed this work
of art at the Pavillion Theatre from April 12 23 and focused on several particular elements/themes
which build on each other in order to celebrate the comedic and historical genius of Wilde s original
work. More specifically, the play focuses on the notion of marriage and its greater role in society, the
role of visual objects such as food and how they hold a much larger importance than they originally
seem, and finally the use of puns in order to describe and envision Victorian society and delve into
what the characters are actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One that particularly struck me as quite obvious was the use of earnest/Ernest on multiple occasions.
This pun is quite symbolic because of the fact that it describes Victorian society norms. Cecily and
Gwendolen both aim to marry a man with the name Ernest even though she doesn t quite understand
what the meaning of the word earnest and what it holds in Victorian society. Earnest means
seriousness and respect in this society, but these are not the reasons Gwendolen wants to marry a man
with this name. It turns out that neither man was earnest or had the name Ernest, although Gwendolen
is quick to forgive. Wilde is trying to show the audience that anyone who describes themselves as
Ernest is being deceptive, but at the same time shows that the social norms of Victorian society are
described in the meaning of the

General Haig Study Guide
General Haig Assessment.
Douglas Haig was a British general during the First World War. He first commissioned into the 7th
Queen s Own Hussars in 1885, and was made a Field Marshall in 1917. He held numerous positions
of command, and was the commander of the British Empire s forces at the Battle of the Somme. The
Battle of the Somme was fought from the 1st of July 1916 to the 18th of November the same year, and
the tactics used by Haig (such as walking towards the enemy, the war of attrition etc remain very
controversial to this day. The Battle of the Somme was fought the relieve the French forces at Verdun
by attacking the Germans north of Verdun, therefore forcing Germany to move some of their men
away from Verdun and relieving the French. Allied forces won 7 miles of ground, and the British lost
481,842 fighting men.
The different interpretations I will discuss are John Terraine s, Alan Clarke s and Lloyd George s.
These views of Haig may have changed over time due to the political affiliation of the historian, the
time period that the historian wrote in and general bias.
The first interpretation that I will cover is the one created by military historian John Terraine. Terraine
suggested that Haig was an effective battle commander and planner. This interpretation was developed
because Terraine was primarily a military historian, and focused on reading Haig s military dispatches
as his sources, which obviously included battle plans and orders only, free from any

Conclusion The policy and problem identified in this policy analysis recognized the significance of
the problem. Their goal was to address the issue of deterrence, public safety, and restoring
neighborhoods to a safe environment for kids and the elderly to live. The plan outlines challenges for
interactions with local residents and attracting more business to make the area a desirable place for
residents and visitors to patronize. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of
police foot patrol as a means of deterrence through apprehension and as a means of risk reduction,
community and problem oriented policing, high crime neighborhood hot spots, and violence
prevention. The Philadelphia Foot Patrol experiment was designed in response to a need to calculate
which method of problem oriented policing are successful in deterring crime in hot spot during the

Contiki Speech
Katrine Ornejas
Good morning everyone today I am going to talk to you about how Contiki was created and how the
company became a success. Contiki began from John s own desire to see Europe cheaply. He is the
man who was behind all the successes of Contiki and came up with the idea of this tour company. To
make this happen, there were guides that he went through to help establish this tourism business. I will
also talk to you about how he grows the business and make it a success and of course the traps to
watch out when running a business.
First of all, John Anderson was a 23 year old man who was born in New Zealand. He grew up with his
mum while his dad was in Europe. One day he went to Europe for a couple days and he just fell in

One of the very important techniques that I learned on this book was the power of word of mouth.
Basically when a group young adults went for a trip, they makes sure that everyone will have an
awesome trip and when they came back they will tell their friends and relatives about their experience.
They will spread the word on how amazing the experience they had on the trip. They will talk about
what attractions they ve seen or where they went in Europe or what activities they did. At this point,
when other people heard about their great feedback for the trip, it will give a huge interest to other
people. For me personally, if my friend went to that trip and told me that she had a really great time on
the trip, I would definitely book on that trip too if I want to travel. It will give me an interest and it
shows that I can trust the company because they had a really great customer feedback. Another thing
is to treat the passenger s complaints seriously no matter how big or small it is because you ll never
know what could happen and it could possibly affect the whole company. Make sure you identify and
diffuse any issue before it becomes a major. Because if you didn t solve the problem, it doesn t only
affect the company but also the customer s loyalty and trust which is very important for a business.
When you make sure that you satisfied their needs even though you made a mistake, you can solve it
earlier or later before it gets

The Character of Falstaff in Henry IV Essay
The Character of Falstaff in Henry IV
None of Shakespeare s plays are read more than the first and second parts of Henry IV. Particularly in
Henry IV Part I, Shakespeare writes chronologically historical and interesting to follow events. The
reader follows the chain of events with devotion and content eager to find out what happens next.
Even though the hero of the play is Prince Henry, or Hal as we know him, the reader may find
themselves more focused on Falstaff, one of the other major characters that Shakespeare created for
comical relief. He was a witty, self conscious, self centered companion of the Prince. King Henry even
criticized his eldest son for keeping company with such a low man. Even though Hal is ... Show more

Prince Hal was the hero of the play, but Falstaff was the character to follow. (Johnson 235)
Hal s opposite was a peer to him, the younger of the Percy s Hotspur. Shakespeare properly named
this character Hotspur for he was indeed a character with a hot temper and passionate ideas and
actions. He longed for a one on one match with the Prince, which he did get at the end of the play.
Unfortunately for himself, he lost it and was eventually eliminated. Yet I would have to agree with
Johnson once again that Falstaff received the center attention of the reader.( Johnson 235 )
Sir John, or as he was commonly known in the play as Falstaff, was a knight to the King Henry. He
was a man of large proportions, indulging into the sweet things in life. He was a man of low morale,
as Johnson had noted in his essay. He was a coward and the viewer got to see that in the robbery scene
that was aforementioned above. He cared for nothing in life but to satisfy his needs. He preyed upon
the poor, he was always ready to cheat and lie. Yet we have grown an attachment to him, for he is a
character that we learn to like. Michael Goldman highlighted that point in his Shakespeare and the
Energies of Drama. When at the end of the Boar s Head Tavern scene, when the viewer learns that the
Sheriff is outside looking for the robbers, Prince Hal defends the fat knight. However, we find Falstaff
soundly asleep behind an array. This scene

Knowledge In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Knowledge recurring many times throughout the Frankenstein novel. A word that speaks for itself but

(Knowledge Intellectual understanding)
In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein novel, characters had searched for something they had in common or a

Research Paper On Guerrilla Marketing
As competitiveness between companies nowadays is every time more and more extended, brands need
to search for ways to make it stand out among the others. Guerilla marketing is one example of this
standing out goal.
Guerrilla marketing was originally a marketing strategy in which low cost, unconventional means
were used in a localized fashion to draw attention to an idea, product, or service. Today, guerrilla
marketing may also include promotion through a network of individuals, groups, or organizations
working to popularize a product or idea by use of such strategies as flash mobs, viral marketing
campaigns, or internet marketing.
The term guerrilla marketing is traced to guerrilla warfare, which employs atypical tactics to achieve
an objective.
Guerrilla marketing was initially used by small and medium sized businesses, but it is increasingly
being adopted by big business. This concept rises from a promotion that relies on imagination rather
than a big budget.
Why Guerilla Marketing? Marketing is such a huge topic, it has so many different utilities, but for me

Latin American Countries
Over the past decades Latin American countries have been in transition and relatively high growth
rates were observed. Constant economic reforms led to a reduction in poverty in some regions with
some exceptions. Latin American countries face many challenges but also they are niches of
opportunity. Across regions a high sense of inequality and low penetration of technology are among
the most recognizable challenges. In this regard, FDI works as the main engine for Latin American
countries and has been increasing steadily over the recent years. Latin America may therefore include
FDI as a key component of their modernization strategy, because of the potential benefits FDI is likely
to generate to their economies. In particular, Latin American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Much research on FDI and IPR has been done during recent years and although many economists
have recognized the role of IPR in acknowledging the issues of technology diffusion and the
generation of new technology, studies have also criticized the role of the owners of IPRs over the
market. On the other hand, the main focus on FDI is directly linked to technology transfer, from L.A
countries perspective FDI has been seen as the main provider of technologies and skills, that are
crucial and necessary for L.A countries to attain sustainable economic development. Several
economists have investigated ways of transferring technology, however, all of them agree that the
most significant and efficient way to transfer technology is through FDI. Ideas and knowledge are
public goods, non rival and non excludable. In this sense everyone has the right to imitate it or acquire
it. Because the generation of technology is involved with costs, not protecting the interests of
innovators can result in a lack of investment in such areas and can result in a market failure. A well
structured IPR regime generates a temporary monopoly to innovators and enables them to achieve
rents in order to have a return on their investments. ( Dhar and Joseph, 2012), Hence, countries that
lack an IPR regime may suffer from low FDIs, due to the fact that foreign

Babbi Yar Massacre Research Paper
Did you know that the Nazis tried to hide the clues that they killed thousands of people? On
September 29 and 30, 1941 the Nazis killed around 30,000 Jews. This massacre was called the Babi

of Jews and they would never forget this destructive event until they died.
Jews were innocent people trying to live their lives like everyone else was. They departed Kiev before
they were Germany s community so they could find a more desirable place to live. They had to escape

Dancer In The Dark And The Piano Analysis
Compare the ways in which Lars von Trier, in Dancer in the Dark, and Jane Campion in The Piano,
explore the idea that hope can be found even in the midst of the most adverse circumstances. In the
film, Dancer in the Dark, and the movie, The Piano, Lars von Trier and Jane Campion respectively

worlds of destruction in which the central female protagonists, Ada Mcgrath and Selma Jezkova,
withstand the understanding between the native Maori people towards the scripted and sterile play
which served as a form of happiness and communal gathering for Victorian Europeans suggests that
different forms of expression such as drama and music often lacks understanding when compared to
reality. Contrastingly, in the musical interludes, von Trier explores the idea that creativity brings a
sense of connection and unity through the use of artificial lighting, saturated colour palette, non
diegetic sound track and head shots and long shots exposing a community singing, dancing and
embracing. The vibrancy and liveliness in these musical scenes directly contrasts with the raw
reduction in the reality scenes and ultimately suggests that musicals create a hopeful and
reconciliatory world where, contrasting Campion s, there is always someone to catch you when you
fall. While creativity provides an escape from harsh reality, both Campion and von Trier explore the

Nectar in a Sieve by Markandaya
Bend like the grass, that you do not break. This quote, said by Nathan, shows that many characters do
not fight for what they believe in, but rather, they let it happen, and acquiesce in their difficult
situations. Nectar in a Sieve by Markandaya is a story about an Indian family living with demanding
situations and trying to obtain food for their children, all while dealing with foreigners and a growing
society. Numerous characters in the story accept issues and events that they cannot change. The
characters attitudes towards acceptance and change is to endure it, and let the change occur. The
narrator, Rukmani, does not strive for what she believes in, instead, she lets the influences and
decisions of others control her life. A point in the story when Rukmani accepts unavoidable
circumstances, and does nothing to stop it, is when Kunthi blackmails Nathan into giving her their rice
(Markandaya 85). This shows that Rukmani does not fight for what she believes in because she could
have went looking for Kunthi to get her rice back, but she did not. Therefore, Rukmani lets others
control her. Another time in Nectar in a Sieve when the protagonist accepts changes that occur in her
life is when Raja is killed (Markandaya 90). Two men come to Rukmani s house, and they are subtly
telling her not to sue them for the death of her child. Instead of suing the tannery for the premature

changes is what makes our republic so great. However, for every person that has a certain political

What Are The Similarities Between Erwin Rommel And George...
When I discuss World War II, invariably my discussion always includes a discourse of two generals,
who in my opinion were two of the greatest generals of that war: Erwin Rommel and George S.
Patton. Both men were icons for their countries during this greatest of all wars, and they were so
similar and different in many ways of their personal and public lives.
Patton and Rommel both came from an extensive military training. Rommel joined the local Infantry
Regiment as an officer cadet in 1910 and was sent to the Officer Cadet School soon after. He

What is love? Love is not what you assume it is. That s why so many marriages end in divorce. People
get a hormonal rush when they re around a person and think they re in love, and believe that person is
the one. Not even close. True love creeps up on you over a long period of time. It s NOT that powerful
feeling of I must have this person. Instead, it s a slow build up. When you truly love someone you don

If two people who have been strangers as all of us are suddenly let the wall between them break down,
and feel close, feel one, this moment of oneness is one of the most exhilarating, most exciting
experiences in life. It is all the more wonderful and miraculous for person who have been shut off,
isolated, without love. This miracle of sudden intimacy is often facilitated if it is combined with, or
initiated by, sexual attraction and consummation. However, this type of love is by its very nature not
lasting. As the two persons become better acquainted and more familiar to each other, their intimacy
loses more and more its miraculous character, until their antagonism, their disappointments, their
mutual boredom kill whatever is left of the initial excitement. Yet, in the beginning they do not know
all this: in fact, they take the intensity of the infatuation, this being crazy about each other, for proof of
the intensity of their love, while it may only prove the degree of their preceding loneliness.
This experience of sudden intimacy is by its very nature very short lived. After the stranger has

Australian English and National Identity
What does Australian English look and sound like today, and how does it reflect our identity as a
nation?
Language use in Australia constantly and rapidly changes to reflect the ever evolving Australian
national identity. It is being influenced by American culture, through its pervasive media, and altered
to create a unique identity that addresses the needs of the younger Australians. Technology, the loss

the way that language has evolved to fabricate our national identity. American culture is increasingly

Many young Australians no longer use or are even familiar with many rich and expressive expressions
of Australian culture that the older would have regularly used. Idioms and expressions like beyond the
black stump and you ve got Buckley s have become unknown to many young Australians. However,
Australian expressions are not just on the decline in the youth population. New expressions are also
being coined, though many are much ruder, like as much chance as pushing shit uphill with a rubber
fork or face like a festered pickle have also added character to Australian English and accelerated
linguistic evolution, particularly when used in preference to older expressions by the young. As Bruce
Moore says, Australian English is central to the process of giving voice to our Australian identity: in
important ways, we are what we speak, and we are how we speak . This great transformation in the
expression use by the people of Australia will define our linguistic identity in the future and reflects
clearly our evolving national identity and who we choose to be.
The national identity of Australia has also developed strangely when dealing with taboo, especially
with the younger Australians. Many youths no longer find many profanities as rude or taboo as the
older generations, in particular with words like fuck , shit and bloody which used to be packed with a
certain punch. In fact, many of these words are actually used as interjections ( Shit! No way! ),

Paris Agreement as the successor of climate change agreement after Kyoto Protocol is a milestone of a
significant coordination between developed and developing countries in anticipating the threat of
climate change. However, the withdrawal of the United States from this treaty after signing and

agreement, including United States of America and Indonesia.
The United States of America as a developed country and also the second most polluter country have
sign the Paris Agreement on 22 April 2016 and ratify it on 3 September 2016. Since the United States
of America join the Paris Agreement, its Nationally Determined Contribution has a target to reduce
greenhouse gas emission by 26 28% below the emission level on 2005 in 2025. As a developed

with the lowest impact on human and ecological health. A number of differing production methods
have been derived in response to this, one of the most controversial of which is Nuclear energy
supplied through Uranium mining. This is a uniquely topical issue in Australia, on account of the
sheer amount of Uranium held in Australia s borders (30% of the world s reserves) and its potential
impact on Australia s economy (4), the politicised and partisan nature of nuclear debate, along with

One significant advantage of nuclear energy through the mining of Uranium is its carbon neutral
energy production property (3). However, during a meltdown or another catastrophe, Nuclear reactors
have the capacity to release significant amounts of toxic radioactive isotopes, such as Strontium 90,
Cadmium 113 and Caesium 137, which has the potential to cause significant harm to health (2) and
biodiversity (11). Coal on the other hand is a well documented releaser of greenhouse gasses, with one
tonne of coal generating 2.6 tonnes of CO2 alone. Globally, this accounts for 6.4 billion tonnes of
CO2 per year, with this value progressively increasing (5). Further, the use of coal in electricity
production results in the release of particulates into surrounding areas. Particularly in third world and
developing nations where regulation on pollution is lax, this causes major tangible health risks to
those who live near the plants a report by the World Health Organisation estimates that deaths directly

standing grievance with regard to the Waingongoro River and the recent furore regarding the
encroachment by private landowners on to the Public Pouhokio reserve has bought the Pouhokio

Effectiveness Of Placebo And Treatment
Aim of literature review
Many papers have been published to purpose the effectiveness of placebo on analgesia, with various
theories supporting the case. Although the literatures are in general agreement on placebo analgesia
there is some disagreement to the mechanism of pain relief. The various theories that will be looked at
are expectation activated opioid system, condition activated specific subsystems and doctor patient
relationship. The primary focus of the paper is neurobiological effect of placebo analgesia in which it
is key to remember that the neurobiological mechanisms occur in different physiological systems in
various medical conditions and in healthy volunteers (Finniss et al, 2010).

There are four lobes; frontal lobe, parietal lobe, occipital lobe and temporal lobe. The brains structure
is divided because different parts of the brain have control over different parts and actions of the body.
The main role of the brain is to help maintenance and function of the whole body (Bear, Connors and
paradise, 2007).
The nervous system of the body is the communication and control network it comprises of the central
nervous system (CNS), peripheral nervous system (PNS) and the autonomic nervous system
(ANS).The brain and the spinal cord comprise to form the CNS, this is the body s main control centre.
The PNS is a complex network of nerves branching across the whole body, 12 pairs of cranial nerves
originate from the brain and 31 pairs of spinal nerves originate from the spinal cord. These nerves
transmit information between the body and the brain via nerve impulses. The ANS shares nerve
structures with both the CNS and PNS, it functions automatically with no conscious awareness to
control the body s basic functions like heart rate. In the PNS there are two divisions; afferent and
efferent. The afferent division controls signals sent to the brain and the efferent division controls
message from the brain to the body. Sensory inputs travel via the afferent division to signal the brain
for processing, co ordination and interpretation. The brain makes a suitable decision to the signal sent

Joan De Agnes A Hero
Heroes come from all backgrounds. They are renowned or unknown, great or minor.
They span across various ages and nationalities and might rise from any situation. What mark them as
incredible individuals, worthy of being called heroes, are the defining qualities that compel them to
rise above the mundane. All heroes require some level of courage and perseverance, as well as the
defining trait of a hero: selflessness.
In history, there have been countless heroes who braved the battlefield and found recognition through
their feats of heroic courage. One of the most notable in Catholic culture is Joan de Arc, the Maid of
Orleans. Although this hero was only a farm girl, at the age of thirteen she began receiving visions in

Such is the case of the Polish saint Father Maximilian Kolbe, a priest and hero from one of the darkest
times in history: World War II. Fr. Kolbe was prepared to serve God in any way possible, and his
devotion to God resulted in a great love for his fellow man, as well. After hiding several thousand
refugees from the Nazis who had invaded his homeland, Father Kolbe was eventually arrested and
placed in the concentration camp Auschwitz. During a line up of prisoners during which ten would be
selected for execution, a husband and father fell on his knees to beg for mercy for the sake of his
family. Father Kolbe stepped forward and offered himself in the man s place, accepting martyrdom out
of love for his neighbor. Even more than half a century after his death, Father Kolbe is remembered as
a hero whose self sacrificing act stands out among the many made during those dark days of
persecution and

Case Study On Wikran Apparels
WikRan Apparels was keen to diversify our apparels market in to the custom suits market, we have
had an aim to enter the market from the very beginning, now since we have a good brand image it s
the perfect time to introduce the Evolve Suits. Apart from this there was a vacuum found at the end of
the market.
* Research can be costly whether to do it or not should be considered, we must conduct this research
somehow because it is difficult to introduce a new product to the market without knowing about the
nature of the product and since we like to deliver what customers want always, we need to get their
feedback.
* Time frame in conducting the research should be considered, whether it can be completed on time.
WikRan apparels have set 6 months as the time frame to conduct and complete this research because
speeding more time on a research would neglect other aspects of the business and also dragging the
research would be costlier for us.
* Competitor activity can be monitored in the time frame. It is important to be aware of competitor
actions as they will help us make important decisions based on what they do

The British Army
The British Army during the American War of Independence served for eight years in battles fighting
around the globe. Imprisonment at the Siege of Yorktown with a recipe of France and US force
eventually led to the loss of the Thirteen Colonies in eastern North America Not only that, the Treaty
of Paris robbed Britain many of the profits attained in the Seven Years War. However several victories
in other places meant that much of the British Empire remained unbroken. The army suffered because
of deficiency of peace spent and useless enlistment in that period since the Seven Years War. These
circumstances had left it in a wrecked state at the burst of war in North America. To counterbalance
the British, the government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lot of the early training was found to be insufficient, with officers unsure how to use light
companies. In 1772, General George Townshend wrote Instructions, and Training and Equipping of
the new Light Companies that was distributed to troops on the Irish founding and offered a hands on
guide for training light companies and assistance for tactics. Townshend also introduced a new
communication method for light bob officers when in control of carelessly positioned troops. By
whistling different signals, it would specify an action. In 1774 William Howe wrote the Manual for
Light Foot soldiers Drill and made an investigational Light Foot soldier s squad training at Salisbury
camp. This then became the outline for all regular light foot soldiers helping in North America. Howe

Trip to California
TRIP TO CALIFORNIA
Upon preparing to write this paper, many events came to mind. The event that stood out the most was
the family vacation we took to California during the hot summer month of July, 2006. Excitement,
anticipation, and curiosity filled the two years it took to plan this trip. The elements that made this
experience so especial were; the anticipation and planning, the wonderful adventure we faced, and the
impact it had on me and my family.
It was a trip that we went on with my sister and her family, which would be our first trip together. The
night the trip was booked, I continuously paced the floor looking out of my bedroom window to see if
my husband was home from work yet. Since he was working out of ... Show more content on

were slow and childish while others were dark and scary. One of my fondest memories of the Magic

Everyday Life Goffman Analysis
Presentation of Self in Everyday Life Goffman introduces us to the concept of dramaturgy in regards
to the development of the social Self (and therefore to Gender Identity). For Goffman, dramaturgy is
how the individual becomes a performer in public/quasi public settings, and their surrounding
environment by default become an audience. He focuses on the dynamic between the two, especially
on how the performer must manage their impression to win audience approval. To fail at garnishing
such approval means risking the entire social setting. (This builds upon, or at least references, Cooley
s Mirror Self in that one turns to others to understand one s self in a social situation). The implications
here is that the social Self is not simply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no Foucauldian analysis at work here (although one can extrapolate it for instance, one might
argue this is a very early imperfect iteration of performativity). There are no considerations about
power s through line in dramaturgy. For example, who wields power in a performance is in the
performer or the audience they are trying to impress (or the team players the performer relies upon in
certain scenes)? For example, wouldn t everyone be both a performer and an audience member at the
same time, and if so what are the implications of that blurring of boundaries? Also, when exactly does
a performance end? And how does the performance and its attendant power dynamics change in
relationship to setting? (And to other more overarching external factors like the given politics of a
certain age or culture)? And finally, Goffman s lack of nuance regarding the performers standpoint
leave the impression that all actors carry the same expectations and resources into a scene. (He does
imply that the role women must perform is different than that of men but this is only mentioned in
passing without any deep analysis. And there is no additional intersectional analysis that could bring
in other indexes, such as

Symbolism In The Birthmark By Nathaniel Hawthorne
As the last crimson tint of the birthmark that sole token of human imperfection faded from her cheek,
the parting breath of the now perfect woman passed into the atmosphere, and her soul, lingering a
moment near her husband, took its heavenward flight (Hawthorne 13). In 1843, Nathaniel Hawthorne
wrote The Birthmark, a tragic and unexpected short story. In the beginning of The Birthmark, Alymer,
a man of science, marries a young beautiful woman named Georgiana. One day Alymer noticed a
mark on Georgiana s cheek, and over time his obsession with the thought of removing it scientifically
caused the death of his wife. Therefore, in the short story The Birthmark, by Nathaniel Hawthorne,
Alymer pushes the scientific boundaries too far and his experiment is unjustified.
In the nineteenth century, the religion in America, was mainly Christianity. Before Christianity, there
were the Puritans, they believed that it was necessary to be in a covenant relationship with God in
order to redeem one from one s sinful condition, that God had chosen to reveal salvation through
preaching, and that the Holy Spirit was the energizing instrument of salvation (Britannica). The
Puritans also believed in predestination, which means God knew the future of the person the day they
were born. Predestination tied in with John Calvin s theory as well. After Puritanism and Calvinism
came along Christianity, which is more than a belief in Jesus Christ. This belief gives a structured

On the other hand the phone may be useful for people who like the old fashion design and don t care

to make calls or send messages, but we must remember that the phone has a price tag at 6000 euros
and isn t targeted old ladies that have a budget at 300 DKK.
The third reason is that the phone costs 6000 euros and has absolutely no features and is compared to a
luxuries watch as stated in the text at line 15. In my opinion a phone that cost 6000 euros should have
a lot of features, that it don t break is not enough.
The fourth reason is that electronic brands all over the world is making their devises break after a

manufacturing failure that makes the phones break down I think its intentional that it happens.
The fifth reason is that it s not a smartphone, maybe some of old fashion business men would like to

the old one no touch screen and with

Crucible Reverend Hale Quotes
Why exactly is Reverend Hale an important character in The Crucible? Reverend Hale shows devotion
to his faith in this play. The reverend s well thought intentions and honest desire to provide aid to
those in need help encourage him to do more. Reverend Hale is a very vital character in this play
because he shows great heart, and he shows how letting witchcraft be a major thought in his mind
make him very vulnerable to be manipulated like everyone else in Salem. Reverend Hale shows how
he has a great heart in The Crucible. The reverend travels just to help these girls but only knows of
one. That there shows how he doesn t care of how long the travel might be, he shall be there to help.
He also shows his great heart when he says, We shall need hard study if it comes to tracking down the

Hale is mainly manipulated by the girls who are faking and lying during the whole play. One time it
happens is when Abigail says, . I want the light of God, I want the sweet love of Jesus! I danced for
the Devil; I saw him; I wrote in his book; I go back to Jesus; I kiss His hand. I saw Sarah Good with
the Devil! I saw Goody Osburn with the Devil! I saw Bridget Bishop with the Devil! (Miller, Act 1)
Hale reacts by thinking she is being very truthful with him and wants to help her cleanse herself of the
devil. Right there is a good example of how he was manipulated by Abigail. Before that though,
Tituba is blamed for witchcraft and when they take her to the daughter that cannot wake she acts as if
she was taken over by the devil. Tituba, under a lot of pressure, says this, Mister Reverend, I do
believe somebody else be witchin these children. (Miller, Act 1) Once she has said this Hale believes
the manipulation and wants to know who the supposed witches

The Heroine Of The Film

women as properties and materialized them as slave[s] or wax doll[s] that [men are] afraid [they]

in which eventually controls herself entirely giving her no choice of her own at all. Usha since her
childhood is given no freedom and all of the surrounding people take control over her live to an extent
that they would like to shape her life as the perfect life they believe to be for her and snatch her
freedom to choose how she wants her life to be and whatever pleases her or whatever she think might
suit her. As a kid, she is always encountering violence in many so many different ways that will
change her character and raise her insecurity which is one of the main cause of her difficulties she
later faces when she becomes adult. As Gandhi says If we are ever to have real peace in this world we
shall have to begin with the children. Usha does not find peace ever as a kid. The first scene in black
and white of the flashbacks shows Usha running from her mother with her chicken which seems that
Usha loves very much. Her mother wants the chicken to cook it for The Master and when Usha
refuses to give her the chicken her mother slaps her and after that comes a most dreadful scene for

  • 2. Ambiguistic Role Of Semantics MODE OF INDISTINCTNESS IN SEMANTICS Abstract Language is a mode of communication which helps us to converse with each other. Linguistics is the base to scientifically learn the language. Grammar also has main role in learning a language. Semantics is one of the types of Linguistics that deals with the study of words and its meaning. By using a word having same structure it causes Ambiguity (indistinctness) in some place. If a word gives more than one meaning it is called Ambiguous. This manuscript deals with the types of Ambiguities in Semantics. Introduction A Scientific analysis of Language is carried out systematically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... M.Breal is credited with coining the word semantics in his Essai de Semantique (1897) as a name for Philosophical enquires . In 1894, the English word semantics occurred in a paper presented to the American Philosophical Association: Reflected Meaning: a point in Semantics . In 1996 A.J.Greimas produced Structural Semantics which viewed semantics as an exploration of signification anchored in the world, perceived through senses. Halliday nevertheless feels that A Language is a system for making meanings, a semantic system, with other systems for encoding the meanings it produces. The term semantics doesn t merely refer to the gist of words; it is the intact practice of meaning of a language, uttered by Grammar as well as by Vocabulary. Semantics as a branch of Linguistics is mainly concerned with how the meaning is conveyed by the Linguistic system consisting of different units and structure like Sentences, Phrases, Words, and Morphemes etc. Philosopher study Semantics to understand good evil right wrong etc. In term the approach of the Philosophers is also made use of by Linguistics. Anthropologists study semantics to understand the cultural and behavioral patterns reflected in Language. The Psychologists look at semantics from the point of view stimulus and response, signs and signified ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Benjy Benjy is the first narrator out of four in William Faulkner s The Sound and the Fury. He is unable to speak, so his story is told through his thoughts and memories. Despite Benjy s mental limitations he is the most illuminating and most important narrator in the novel, as Faulkner intended. His memories reveal more in the story than any other narrator because he is able to remember without concealing information. Faulkner uses Benjy s narration to build a foundation and pretense for the novel, creating a puzzle for the reader. Benjy is mentally retarded and has no sense of time, leaving the Compson family and staff to look after him. He seems to have limited control over himself and his body as shown very early on in the novel. He is unable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He d better stay in. Benjamin. Stop that, now. It wont hurt him. Uncle Maury said. You, Benjamin. Mother said. If you dont be good, you ll have to go to the kitchen. (Faulkner 5) This sets up reader s understanding that the Compsons are not a cohesive, unified family. It shows how many voices and opinions are involved in everything Benjy does and how much he is around the entire family, making his thoughts very important to the novel because while he might not have been crucial to the actual situation, he was in the room listening. Benjy s credibility as a narration is often reduced because of his limitations, however he continually adds to the novel s background and grows as a character. Roggenbuck explains how he grows throughout the novel: Critics also cite Benjy s frequent use of the verb go as an example of his limitations, but in this, too, Benjy changes as he grows. Though as a child Benjy does often use went to describe his motions and the motions of objects and people around him . . . by 1928 he more frequently and habitually settles for went and went away to describe how things move, signaling both his increased passivity and his diminished involvement with people or objects not immediately present. ... • 4. Benefits And Benefits Of Teaching Kids There are many benefits to teaching kids how to make a map or plan, and apply it to a project that they want to work on. Over the past few years, many families have started planting their own gardens in their yard during the spring months. A garden map is a great way to plan out your spring garden, so that it looks just the way you want it to. There are some plants that can not be planted to close to each other. For example cucumbers can easily overtake anything they are planted next too. They can grab onto the plants next to them and also block out sunlight. That is why a map is certainly a good idea. For your lesson plan have each of your children, draw a picture of your yard. If the weather is nice outside, why not take them out in the yard and allow them to draw a sketch first hand. After your children have finished drawing, their picture of the garden, sit down with them and decide where you want the garden to go. If you have more than one child, why not give each of them a small patch of land. Each of your kids can pick where they want their patch of land to go. Have them indicate this on their garden map. They can even set up how and where they want to plant the seeds in the garden. A good way to incorporate math into this lesson is measure the distance between each plant. Look up what the right distance between each plant should be. Most of this information can easily be found online. If they write the measurements down on the map, when it is time to plant they can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of The Poem Adair Billy Adair Billy is quite connected to her Indian identity, although it does not seem like it. She lives in New Orleans, Louisiana, working as a stockbroker for a large firm, where she is highly sought after and praised for her abilities. She made a name for herself there by saving many clients a lot of money, she woke up to a voice telling her about a company that was not doing well. She removed her clients from the firm going under, many believing that it was her Native upbringing, and they are not wrong. In addition to this, Adair has a strong interest in early Indian commerce and relations within New Orleans. This causes her to believe that her job as a stockbroker is connected to her Indian identity, the narrator saying, Adair tells herself she s following a tradition established by her ancestors. After all, Indians were the first commodity traders of the New World (Howe 42). She has found a way to incorporate her background into her life, even though she is not living in Durant, Oklahoma anymore. Her Indian identity is present within her career and interests, different from the way Auda s is present, and different from the way Tema Billy s is as well. Tema Billy no longer lives in Durant, but is close by in Dallas, Texas. Tema is an artist of all kinds; she first worked with the American Indian dance company and made the move to New York City. She worked odd jobs and eventually took up acting, playing roles as a Spanish, Greek, and Italian woman. She then has a son with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The 24°C had a rate of 0.083 kPa/sec for Trial 1 and 0.001 kPa/sec for Trial 2, producing an overall average of 0.042 kPa/sec. The 34°C had a rate of 0.014 kPa/sec for Trial 1 and 0.0008 kPa/sec for Trial 2, which averages out to 0.0074 kPa/sec. In 46°C, both trials resulted in 0.00 kPa/sec, producing an average of 0.00 kPa/sec. Compared to 24°C, 34°C, and 46°C, the 6°C had the highest rate of enzyme activity. At 46°C, there is no rate of enzyme activity. The graph presents a direct relationship between the temperature and rate of enzyme activity. The line of best fits shows that as temperature increases, the rate of enzyme activity decreases. Conclusion: If the enzyme is placed in higher temperatures than its optimal temperature, then the rate of enzyme activity will decrease or possibly denature. According to Kyriacou: A relaxed warm and supportive ethos stems largely from the style and manner of the relationship you establish with the pupils. • 13. Descriptive Essay About My Father Sometimes I think I know everything there is to know about my father. I know he only shaves when the greys start to show. I know he likes green tea better than black. He watches Hallmark movies at Christmas because it reminds him of Gran. He likes to wear plaid ironically. He watched me being born when he was seventeen years old. He tells me he loves me, not every day but every week at least. He doesn t have to say it too often. He just loves. Even when Angelo left, he kept loving him. He kept the little shells they had found on the beach when we drove to the Great Salt Lake. They re lined up in a row on the bathroom windowsill. He also kept Angelo s shirts, the ones he left behind. He wears them sometimes; the ones with holes from where sparks burned the fabric for Angelo s welding projects. We ve got one of those, too. A welding piece. It s a bird that has its wings up in a V. It s in the front yard of the cabin, rusty and brown. It gets older every month. Dad says it s sad that he s gone. That s why it s dying. As if it s a real, living creature. As if it breathes, like it holds some piece of Angelo, like it s a beacon that will bring him back. Dad sees beauty in the metal and the edges. I see sharp points, a twisted back, an open mouth caught saying something like why do you always do this to us or don t make this my fault or don t be so fucking sensitive. If there s something I don t know about my dad, it s how he lived with it for so long. The cabin we live in is more of an insulated shed. It has two lofts, a bathroom, and one big space for the couch and kitchen and the fold down table. It was the hunting cabin that Grampa used when he was alive. It s deep in the woods, connected to the road by a mile long driveway. We re twenty miles from Little Pesos, which has the Walmart, library/church, ranger station and the charter high school. I walk three miles to get to the bus stop that takes me the rest of the way. We have classes from April to October. In winter, the weather is too unpredictable. Dad likes the cabin. He likes the quiet and the trees that are crowded like cold children, arms wrapped around each other for warmth. He likes to hunt, too. Grampa had showed him to shoot when he was a ... Before the troops landed on Morocco s Atlantic coast he gave the troops, what is now, a legendary philosophy of battle: We shall attack and attack until we are exhausted, and then we shall attack again. Patton led the American into their first major victory after a series of defeats. In order to prepare the U.S. 7th Army for its invasion of Sicily Patton turned over his command in North Africa. During this time Patton s reputation suffered greatly after slapping a soldier, who was suffering from shell shock, accusing him of cowardice. After witnessing The Importance of Being Earnest, I have determined that a farce and a comedy can be described as opposite to a certain extent. A farce is ordinary people in a strange situation, while a comedy is unique people in an ordinary situation. Although not all people may see it this way, this is how I perceived Oscar Wilde s classic which was clearly very ahead of its time. Richard Robichaux directed this work of art at the Pavillion Theatre from April 12 23 and focused on several particular elements/themes which build on each other in order to celebrate the comedic and historical genius of Wilde s original work. More specifically, the play focuses on the notion of marriage and its greater role in society, the role of visual objects such as food and how they hold a much larger importance than they originally seem, and finally the use of puns in order to describe and envision Victorian society and delve into what the characters are actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One that particularly struck me as quite obvious was the use of earnest/Ernest on multiple occasions. This pun is quite symbolic because of the fact that it describes Victorian society norms. Cecily and Gwendolen both aim to marry a man with the name Ernest even though she doesn t quite understand what the meaning of the word earnest and what it holds in Victorian society. Earnest means seriousness and respect in this society, but these are not the reasons Gwendolen wants to marry a man with this name. It turns out that neither man was earnest or had the name Ernest, although Gwendolen is quick to forgive. Wilde is trying to show the audience that anyone who describes themselves as Ernest is being deceptive, but at the same time shows that the social norms of Victorian society are described in the meaning of the ... He first commissioned into the 7th Queen s Own Hussars in 1885, and was made a Field Marshall in 1917. He held numerous positions of command, and was the commander of the British Empire s forces at the Battle of the Somme. The Battle of the Somme was fought from the 1st of July 1916 to the 18th of November the same year, and the tactics used by Haig (such as walking towards the enemy, the war of attrition etc remain very controversial to this day. The Battle of the Somme was fought the relieve the French forces at Verdun by attacking the Germans north of Verdun, therefore forcing Germany to move some of their men away from Verdun and relieving the French. Allied forces won 7 miles of ground, and the British lost 481,842 fighting men. The different interpretations I will discuss are John Terraine s, Alan Clarke s and Lloyd George s. These views of Haig may have changed over time due to the political affiliation of the historian, the time period that the historian wrote in and general bias. The first interpretation that I will cover is the one created by military historian John Terraine. Terraine suggested that Haig was an effective battle commander and planner. This interpretation was developed because Terraine was primarily a military historian, and focused on reading Haig s military dispatches as his sources, which obviously included battle plans and orders only, free from any ... They will spread the word on how amazing the experience they had on the trip. They will talk about what attractions they ve seen or where they went in Europe or what activities they did. Particularly in Henry IV Part I, Shakespeare writes chronologically historical and interesting to follow events. Even though the hero of the play is Prince Henry, or Hal as we know him, the reader may find themselves more focused on Falstaff, one of the other major characters that Shakespeare created for comical relief. He longed for a one on one match with the Prince, which he did get at the end of the play. Unfortunately for himself, he lost it and was eventually eliminated. Yet I would have to agree with Johnson once again that Falstaff received the center attention of the reader.( Johnson 235 ) Sir John, or as he was commonly known in the play as Falstaff, was a knight to the King Henry. He was a man of large proportions, indulging into the sweet things in life. He was a man of low morale, as Johnson had noted in his essay. He was a coward and the viewer got to see that in the robbery scene that was aforementioned above. He cared for nothing in life but to satisfy his needs. He preyed upon the poor, he was always ready to cheat and lie. Yet we have grown an attachment to him, for he is a character that we learn to like. Michael Goldman highlighted that point in his Shakespeare and the Energies of Drama. When I discuss World War II, invariably my discussion always includes a discourse of two generals, who in my opinion were two of the greatest generals of that war: Erwin Rommel and George S. Patton. Both men were icons for their countries during this greatest of all wars, and they were so similar and different in many ways of their personal and public lives. Patton and Rommel both came from an extensive military training. Rommel joined the local Infantry Regiment as an officer cadet in 1910 and was sent to the Officer Cadet School soon after. He graduated on 15 November 1911 and was commissioned as a lieutenant in January 1912. Patton attended Virginia Military Institute for only one year before being transferring to West Point Military Academy. At West Point Patton was appointed Cadet Adjutant and ... Patton was close behind Rommel in obtaining promotion after promotion, moving from a boot lieutenant in World War I to Major General at the beginning of the North Africa campaign, where the two generals met on the battle field for the first time. Rommel is regarded as a chivalrous and humane officer because his command nor the troops in those commands were ever accused of any war crimes. That s why so many marriages end in divorce. People get a hormonal rush when they re around a person and think they re in love, and believe that person is the one. Not even close. True love creeps up on you over a long period of time. It s NOT that powerful feeling of I must have this person. Instead, it s a slow build up. When you truly love someone you don t have to ask yourself if it s love. You re not even ASKING yourself. From The Art of Loving, by Erich Fromm If two people who have been strangers as all of us are suddenly let the wall between them break down, and feel close, feel one, this moment of oneness is one of the most exhilarating, most exciting experiences in life. It is all the more wonderful and miraculous for person who have been shut off, isolated, without love. This miracle of sudden intimacy is often facilitated if it is combined with, or initiated by, sexual attraction and consummation. However, this type of love is by its very nature not lasting. As the two persons become better acquainted and more familiar to each other, their intimacy loses more and more its miraculous character, until their antagonism, their disappointments, their mutual boredom kill whatever is left of the initial excitement. Yet, in the beginning they do not know all this: in fact, they take the intensity of the infatuation, this being crazy about each other, for proof of the intensity of their love, while it may only prove the degree of their preceding loneliness. This experience of sudden intimacy is by its very nature very short lived. After the stranger has become an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He focuses on the dynamic between the two, especially on how the performer must manage their impression to win audience approval.
