Letter To Danbury Baptist Rhetorical Analysis
The Separation of Church and State
The central idea is that church and state should not be considered mutual. In the article, Letter to
Danbury Baptist, Thomas Jefferson respectfully rejects the Danbury Baptist pursue to making their
religion the only religion known to state. He also explains that the separation of church and state is a
part of the first amendment and it is one that we are going to keep and adhere to. Another article,
First Amendment to the US Constitution it states the first amendment and all the freedom we have
as Americans. An image, No Union Upon Any Terms shows how religion is not part of state.
Therefore, church and state should be separate.
In the Letter to Danbury Baptist, the author Thomas Jefferson develops and refines the central idea
of separation between church and state by explaining the importance of keeping a good
relationship between himself and the Baptist people but also standing firm on the importance of
the first amendment. The danbury Baptist people wanted to change the division of church and
state but Jefferson used his rhetoric to help explain to the people that the separation of church and
state is good for all men and all religions. Jefferson states, religion is a matter which lies solely

Essay on Women s Rights in Canadian History
A Women s Rights to Equality in Canada
Every woman has the right to moral, legal and political choice. As we look to the past, women
fought for the right to be treated the same as men and fundamentally to have the same rights as
men. Prior to the turn of the century, women had little to no rights. World War Iand II gave way to
change, allowing women to work and eventually allowing them to vote. The feminist movement
has made drastic progress since the war. Today women are seen as equal and have the right not
only to vote, but to be educated. In 1977 the Canadian Human Rights Act ensured that women
could no longer be discriminated based on their sex, race, religion or sexuality. The act specified
that there must be equal pay for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women were also allowed to get educations and go into teaching and nursing positions. The
Person s Case was another highlight which demonstrates the advancements of women s right in
Canadian history. This case included five women who ultimately help transform the way
women were seen. Emily Murphy played a significant role in establishing women s rights which
led to women being called persons in matters of rights and privileges. Furthermore, another
female Canadian named Nellie McClung helped in getting the right to vote for women.
Ultimately resulting in the May 24th, 1918 Act allowing all women 21 years of age or more in
Canada the official right to vote even if they did not have the provincial license. The war brought
many changes to Canada and around the world. Women were finally being recognized for their
efforts and perseverance and acquiring new freedoms and improved rights for themselves. During
the 1920 s, women became more involved in society and continued to participate in the work
force. Women continued to make half the earning men were making at that time but by 1929
women made up about 20% of the workforce. The Women s Labour League worked to defend
women workers and the labour movement. They exposed shortfalls in the minimum wage laws and
fought for equal pay, maternity care and a women right for birth control. Women were finally
making their mark in government. By 1939,

Features Of A Relational Database
Features of a relational database
Primary keys:
The main feature of a relation database would be the primary key. It is a unique identifier set to
each and every record that travels across different tables in relationships. An example of a
primary key is a Social Security number. The primary keys job is to make each record unique and
it lets data to be kept in more than one table. Each table within a relational database will have a field
for the primary key. Foreign keys:
A foreign key is a column in a database that links data between tables by cross referencing
because it references primary keys from other tables. For example if there are two tables, customer

Validation rules
Validation within a database is used to make sure the data entered into the database is sensible
and makes sense, also to avoid any typing errors. You make a rule which only allows certain
things to be typed into the database e.g. only 11 numbers for a mobile phone number so that you
don t accidently type the wrong amount of digits. It will come up as an error if you try and then
that is when you notice your mistake. Benefits
Having a relational database will greatly reduce the data redundancy because it will get rid of the
repeated data within a database. This is done by going through the normalisation process and
therefore since there is less data in the database it is much faster access, searching data, updating
data, sorting and reporting.
Stages of normalisation
The steps of normalisation will be fully explained in the following steps: Firstly you need to turn
this into a unormalised table by:
Create column headings for the table for each data item on the report and ignore any calculated

Loss Of Faith In Night By Elie Wiesel
Night
In the text, Night, by Elie Wiesel, the dynacism of the narrator is accentuated by the battles he
undergoes with his faith throughout. Wiesel s whole journey throughout Auschwitz is greatly
influenced with his ongoing argument with his inner self. God, to people of religion, shapes how
people live their lives ever since they were young; how they grow, learn, play, economics and who
they should fall in love with. God is what maps out their lives, and for the Jews during the Holocaust
, this was a backbone for life. In the text, when the Jews get brutally targeted in the Holocaust,
Wiesel feels betrayed by God. Through it all, Wiesel goes on a self journey trying to stay alive and
trying to stay loyal to his faith.

For instance, Truly accepting that what he is seeing is so dreadful that whatever God there
might be, He isn t living up to what his faith originally shapes God to be. (Wiesel, 45) Through
everything Weisel is going through, faith could be a rock. Wiesel and his companions find faith
becoming something unreliable and even more hurtful. Wiesel wants his faith to come back,
but he still feels conflicted. Furthermore he states How could I say to Him: Blessed be Thou,
Almighty, Master of the Universe, who chose us among all nations to be tortured day and
nightm to watch as our fathers, our mothers, our brothers end up in furnaces? (Wiesel, 67).
Wiesel continuously, day after day, see s horrors that will still haunt him in his sleep for many
years to come. It is not only him that sees this, as well as millions of other fellow Jews. Wiesel is
majorly struggling with horrors of what s going on inside of the camp along with the battle of his
faith, which is an internal battle against himself and the roots of his family. After a while
searching he s able to come back and believe that faith and God is what will get him out of the
situation and therefore that s how he escaped

that kept causing delays in his education. During their time studying law, there was a scholar and
his brother in law that showed the brothers the materials that the brothers are known for until this

Role Of Authority In Siddhartha
Authority plays a large role in Siddhartha s journey to finding enlightenment. Siddhartha finds
himself unhappy and questioning the religion he has known his whole life. He begins to dream
vividly and lie awake at night overthinking how he could confront his feelings. He has come to
believe that there is no more knowledge to be learned from his father, Siddhartha had begun to
feel that the love of his father and mother, and also the love of his friend Govinda, would not
always make him happy, give him peace, satisfy and suffice him. He had begun to suspect that his
worthy father and his other teachers, the wise Brahmins, had already passed on to him the bulk and
best of their wisdom but his soul was not at peace. Chapter 1, pg. 3. Siddhartha... Show more

However, he defies the Buddha in the way that he objects everything he teaches in questioning
that if the key to achieving enlightenment is ascending the world of cycles and circles, what did
Gautama do to break his own cycle? Siddhartha doesn t understand the doctrine of salvation and
escape from the world if in fact the world is eternally one. Gautama admits the flaw, but continues
on, The teaching which you have heard...is not my opinion, and its goal is not to explain the world
to those who are thirsty for knowledge. Its goal is quite different; its goal is salvation from the
suffering. That is what Gautama teaches, nothing else. Chapter 3, pg. 27. Siddhartha argues the
impossibility of reaching enlightenment via others teachings. Enlightenment, Siddhartha says, is
something a man must do alone. This belief being why Siddhartha continued on his path instead
of joining the Shramanas like Govinda. At this point in the book I consider Siddhartha himself to
be an authority figure. He is now entering a new stage of his life with only his self determination
to keep him en route to his goal. He has walked away from all of his teachers, even Buddha,
because they failed to satisfy Siddhartha with their teachings of the nature of self. He is now
starting to see his surroundings as real things happening around him, compared

Relationship Between Darcy And Elizabeth Bennet
The Evolution of the Relationship of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet Whether a relationship
between two characters remains strictly platonic or will eventually become bound by romance,
many factors go into how that relationship evolves. Where the evolution of a relationship is
concerned, one must recognize the importance of how not only the characters themselves affect the
progression of the relationship, but also how outside factors make an impact. Many components of
Jane Austen s novel, Pride and Prejudice, affect and lead to the evolution of the relationship of

The Effect Of Soil On The Soil Formation Of Soil
The soil is a complex mixture of minerals, water, air, organisms and organic matter that are
decaying remains of once living things. The soil is vital in supporting plant life and all forms life.
The soil is not consistent throughout the world because of the way that it is formed and
environmental factors that vary through the process of soilformation.
The factors that play the most important role in the formation of soil are climate, organisms, relief,
parent material and time. These factors form the acronym CLORPT that is used to describe the
processes. Climate includes factors such as temperature and moisture; they are important in
determining the speed of weathering and the decay rate of the organic material. Organisms include
animals that burrow through the soil that affects the permeability and amount of air in the soil.
Other organisms in the soil are bacteria that affect the rate of decay of organic matter. Relief is the
direction and slope of the surface. This factor determines the amount of sunlight and how much
water is kept in the soil. Parent Material influences the chemical characteristics of the soil. For
example, a soil formed from limestone will have higher calcium concentration than soils that are
formed from a parent material with lower calcium than limestone. Time affects soil by how much
time it had to develop. Older soil will be different than younger soil because it has had more time
to breakdown parent material and decay organic matter. CLORPT

Dangerous Sex Offenders
I feel that as a society we do play a role in the formation of a dangerous sex offender. I find that a
common theme replaying across the histories of various dangerous sex offenders is family
instability. In modern times the family has become more and more isolated. Instead of large
families living together, or near one another, there tends to be large geographical distances in
between them. In addition, people tend to not know or have any involvement with their neighbors
further isolating them. This social isolation seems to be lending a helping hand with the dissolution
of the family unit. More and more families seem to be single parent, second, third or more

Canada’S Counter-Terrorism Strategy Is Failing. From The
Canada s counter terrorism strategy is failing. From the 2014 attack on Parliament hill to the
January massacre at the Quebec city mosque, it is clear that terrorism is an imminent threat, both to
Canada and to the world. Backlash against Western culture provides ammunition to extremist
Islamic groups globally, which is only exacerbated by the West s disproportionate military responses
to legitimate and perceived threats through drone strikes or other military operations. Anger
towards domestic policy decisions fuels far right white supremacists, and government s

Nevertheless, this policy is criticized for its disregard of the globalized nature of terrorism, for its
indifference to the role of international law and global cooperation in maintaining international
support, for its neglect to consider the risks that supporting foreign indigenous forces may engender,
for the inevitable resource drain such a policy would generate, and for anti Canadian narrative that
would be incited by terrorists, simply leading to increased attacks. Conversely, another counter
terrorism strategy Canada may pursue is to support UN leadership in the fight against terrorism.
Recognizing the global nature of terrorism, proponents of this policy argue that Canada must
strengthen the UN s effectiveness on security matters to ensure any international response to this
issue reflects the interests and the needs of all in the global community. Under such a policy,
Canada would have to debate all possible counter terror strategies in front of the UN and would
have to adhere to established treaties and work towards drafting more resolutions aimed to limit
chemical, nuclear and biological weapons. Additionally, such policy proponents encourage Canada
to become an active participant in established international institutions such as the ICC. This
approach to dealing with terrorism is criticized however, opponents claiming that the UN is
ineffective, slow and tied up by bureaucracy. Moreover, the UN s

Pros And Cons Of Omnivore s Dilemma
Throughout the US there has been the big concern of where the food we eat comes from and if it
is healthy. Everyone wants healthy food, yet we fail to eat the healthy food that is right in front of

the Omnivore s Dilemma by Michael Pollan, you explore the pros and cons of our five main food
chains; industrial, industrial organic, organic, sustainable, and hunter gatherer. In all ways, the
sustainable food chain is the best food chain to feed the US. Animals and plants are developed

The customers that buy from local sustainable farms know how their food is grown and harvested.
At the Polyface farm Joel does not have walls on his slaughter house, this way people can come
and see how their next meal is killed in a humane way. The people don t need USDA to ensure
that the meat they re buying has been humanely and cleanly processed, (208) because they can
watch with their own eyes how the meat is slaughtered. Industrial industries protest that selling
produce locally can not get food to everyone around the US. Shipping produce across the country
effects the foods taste. Also when customers go to the far, to pick out their own food they get the
produce fresh and local. Local farmers on sustainable farms will make a bigger profit out of their
produce because they do not have to put all their money into buying chemicals and fertilizers, this
is good for the produce and farmers.
Overall the sustainable food chain is the best food chain to feed the US. The food grown is fresh

which means they are feed grass, an animal s natural food, not corn and added growth hormones.

How Did Shakespeare Change Over Time
Emergent large, commercial theatres during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I ((1558 1603) were able
to reach an unprecedented level of artistic achievement due to unprecedented socio cultural changes.
These changes included a breakdown of the feudal system of the Middle Ages, the Protestant
Reformation and a movement towards Humanism. Despite these radical societal transformations,
continuities with the beliefs and structures of the recent past including the concept of a Chain of
Being and a belief in the four humours of the body are evident during Shakespeare s lifetime.
A demand for labour was created by the rapid rise of industrial towns and the Black Death, which
wiped out two thirds of England s labour force. The power of that this gave the working class
contributed to the decline of feudalism. Queen Elizabeth s efficient, centralised government was
another contributing factor, as was the transition from a land based economy to a money based
economy. Peasants newfound purchasing power and freedom of movement created a greater demand

Personalizaton through Searches on Google and Facebook is...
Worldwide there is an underlying issue within search engines and social media. This issue is
becoming evident as the number of people retrieving their news through Google and Facebook
increases. Personalisation through searches is evolving to only show the consumer what they want
to see not what they need to see. Online Organiser and Author of The Filter Bubble , Eli Pariser
argues in his TED Talk about the unreliability of not being exposed to information that could
broaden our worldwide view and possibly resolve pivotal democratic issues. This cycle of trying to
consistently please the users is becoming evident within search organisations and has evolved with
technology as algorithmic filters were introduced having an unbalanced and unethical filter. This
invisible filter is now generating a personal unique universe of information (Pariser, 2011), for
every individual user, enforcing the inability to have a functioning democracy because of the public
not receiving accurate and most importantly balanced information. The Filter Bubble s motive is to
create a personalised environment online through the search engine, by getting to know the source
of sites it thinks it s consumer is interested in. The filter then only provides their subject with
specific relevant information. The continuous flow of information being shown on google and
Facebook revolves around the commonly visited sites rather than things that benefit the users

An Explication of Sharon Olds’ Poem, Feared Drowned Essay
An Explication of Sharon Olds Poem Feared Drowned.
Fear is an amazing emotion, in that it has both psychological as well as physiological effects on
the human body. In instances of extreme fear, the mind is able to function in a way that is
detached and connected to the event simultaneously. In Feared Drowned, Sharon Olds presents, in
six brief stanzas, this type of instance. Her sparse use of language, rich with metaphors, similes
and dark imagery, belies the horror experienced by the speaker. She closes the poem with a
philosophical statement about life and the after effects that these moments of horror can have on
our lives and relationships. The setting of the poem is a day at the ocean with the ... Show more

Throughout the poem, Olds use consonance sounds, particularly s w and z sounds, to recreate the
sounds of the surf, and perhaps even the sound of gasping for air. In this respect, even the very
sound of this poem reinforces its central idea of drowning.
In the third stanza, the speaker scans the swimmers emerging from the water, realizing that none
of them is her husband. The lack of emotion in her tone suggests that the speaker is experiencing
that state of simultaneous detachment and connection that often occurs in moments of intense
panic. The sense of foreboding is reinforced in the fourth stanza: Rocks stick out near the shore
like heads / Kelp snakes in like a shed black suit... One wonders if the shed black suit is meant to
be a symbol for typical funereal attire, perhaps the black suit the speaker fears she will bury her
husband in. It is not until the fifth stanza that the speaker s body belies her fear and shock with a
natural physiological response: My stomach begins to contract as if to / vomit salt water.
As her husband emerges from the surf in the last stanza, the tone of the poem switches from one of
darkness and fear, to one that is philosophical: Once you lose someone

generations. Mitchell Hall and Fry strongly support the stance that there was a large generation gap

examples of romantic era. I love this poem because the content is related to nature. It is true with
the statement from Xiaolin Huang, Feifei Pei, and Changle Fu (2014) that William Wordsworth
often called himself as A Worshiper of Nature so everyone called him as a poet of nature. He

The first stanza tells that the poet was wandering alone to a place whereby yellow daffodils flies
over the hills and valleys with the wind flow. These daffodils grew under the trees and were
close to the lake. The breeze made these daffodils easily fluttering like they were happily
dancing. While in the second stanza, the poet saw these flowers shining and twinkling brightly
like stars in the Milky Way. They spread over a large area along the bay margin with a huge
quantity. Moreover, in the third stanza, the poet tells that both of lake and daffodils were also
dancing. He shows that the daffodils looked beautiful rather than the sparkling of the lake
because the daffodils have more glee. Here he shows the loneliness gradually turning into
happiness because of his companions (lake and daffodils) but he could not understand what he
gained from his experience. For final stanza, it tells that whenever the poet felt loneliness, he
could remember the happiness when he saw the dancing daffodils. In addition, we can take a look
at the use of past tense along the poem which tells about the poet s experience and the use of
present tense is used only in the last stanza since the important message of this poem is about the
reflection of the poet s

Analysis Of Dear White People
The television series Dear White People by Justin Simien portrays stereotypical problems of
racial identity in today s society, however, the creator imbeds the series with hidden messages
that are not particularly intended. The show exemplifies how people of color try to deal with
living in a society where they are not particularly welcome in a place of elite higher education. It
follows a group of colored students as they navigate through life in college attending a primarily
white Ivy League university. In the series, the creator implements the ideas of two sided racism,
political correctness, and misplaced power.
Although this show suggests it is about white people and their faults, Simien portrays two sided
racism in the series although it is not addressed head on. The show s protagonist, Sam White
who is also a woman, is characterized as the angry black chic on campus because she believes all
white people have white privilege. She speaks her mind through her radio show Dear White
People where she bashes white people and their beliefs. Throughout the series, Sam speaks
against white people as oppressors, however, most people don t recognize that this is also a form
of racism. For example, in season one episode one, Sam is caught in a scandalous relationship
with a white man. Those who look up to her as a leader to the black community are disgusted
with her. As the episode progresses Sam tried to integrate her white boyfriend, Gabe, into her
group but he is not welcomed. This implies that one should not mix with the other side or
everything you stand for is void. Although the show doesn t blatantly state it Sam s group of
colored friends are oppressing white people. Oppressing those who oppress others does not make
one right. The colored characters in this series blame all white people for their problems and
portray white people as always in the wrong. The show is focused on how white people oppress
others and further racism, however, what one doesn t recognize is that when the group being
oppressed upon retaliates with the exclusion of their oppressors it doesn t make them any better.
This message is not obvious but still heavily embedded throughout the series.

Leif Enger’s Peace Like a River Essay

Life can be viewed as a battle field, a constant fight between good and evil. In Leif Enger s Peace

between the good and evil characters, and though based around family, love, and brotherhood, the
novel mainly focused on the conflict between these characters.
This student felt that it was fair to classify the Lands along with Roxanna Cowley, The Shultzs and

his opinion to determine whether or not Jeremiah deserved the job. Holgren made work even more
difficult and disagreed with everything that Jeremiah did. Jeremiah, being the calm person that he
was, never retaliated with negative words. He allowed Holgren to mistreat him, even in front of
the staff and students in the school. Holgren finally resorted to firing Jeremiah in front of everyone,
but Jeremiah simply touched his face and walked away.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing (Budha).
Jeremiah did nothing but simply left things in God s hands. He allowed Holgren to make a fool

Once again good triumphed over evil. This student felt that Jeremiah maintained his composure and
acted just as he should.
The best way to deal with situations is to walk away and Jeremiah proved to have such discipline.

Although I didn t work with these students more than once a week, I gained a good enough sense

Not only has the economy grown rapidly over the last quarter century but there has also been
dramatic demographic and social change. Fertility rates have declined substantially and there
have been massive investments in human capital. This can be seen in secondary school
enrollment rates which have risen from a mere 6% in 1960 to more than 50% today; primary
school enrollment is essentially universal. (Poppele 1999) The investments are also reflected in
the health of the population: at birth, the average Indonesian today expects to live to the age of
61 which is 50% longer than he or she expected 30 years ago. Thus, the labor force has not only
grown dramatically in size but also in quality. The consequences of these improvements are
reflected in significant rising real wage levels over the last three decades. (Smith 2002) Pride in
its past economic achievements and optimism about its future were suddenly challenged by the
economic crisis which was accompanied by dramatic shifts in the economic and political
landscape of the country. As indicated in Figure 1, the rupiah came under pressure in the last
half of 1997 when the exchange rate began showing signs of weakness. After falling by half from
around 2,400 per US$ to about 4,800 per US$ by December 1997, the rupiah collapsed in January

Reaction Paper On The Apology Of Socrates
Undoubtedly, the Apology of Socrates is one of the most significant work among all the classics. It
is an account of the speech of Socrates makes at the trial in defence for the accusations of not

the speech, Socratesspeaks in a very plain manner to attempt to defend himself and his conduct.
Though Socrates was sentenced to death as even his eloquent argument could not persuade all the

Production Process And Lean Manufacturing Process
INTRODUCTION
Quality in manufacturing has become an integral part of the production process and lean
manufacturing. The objective is to ensure that all customer project requirements are met to
specification while eliminating waste. Some of the world s largest company s require suppliers to
be on their approved supplier list prior to considering doing business with your company. One of the
major requirements to get on an approved supplier list is to have a certified quality management
system in place. Manufactures recognize the importance of quality certifications and lean processes
and use them as a competitive advantage in gaining new business and retaining current customers.
WHAT IS LEAN
The core idea of lean is to relentlessly work on eliminating waste from the manufacturing process.
Waste can be defined as any activity that does not add value from the customer s perspective.
According to research conducted by the Lean Enterprise Research Centre (LERC), fully 60% of
production activities in a typical manufacturing operation are waste they add no value at all for the
customer. Every company has an opportunity to improve, using lean manufacturing techniques and
other manufacturing best practices. Techniques that enable you to deliver higher quality products at
significantly lower costs (Vorne Industries Inc., 2010 2013).
LEAN PRINCIPLES
Lean Principles in manufacturing can improve operating performance by focusing on the
uninterrupted flow of products and materials

former Coffee Hut associates. Over the next few years, GC3 expanded into Cincinnati and
Cleveland, but have kept Columbus as their regional headquarters. Moving forward, GC3 grew
with the purchase of Great Scoops and DaDeli. Due to this extreme growth, and the need for
centralized decision making, most of GC3 staff will reside at the company s headquarters, aside
from store managers and administrative staff.
With the continued growth, it is important to develop a corporate structure. The three forerunners
of GC3 are Tony, Bruce and Bonnie. Tony has taken the role of Chief Financial Officer. To be
successful, Tony will need to build a team to meet the demands of the entire organization. Since
Tony works at headquarters, a proposed IT and Accounting group will report to him. These added
responsibilities will create a need for Tony to have one main direct report, a Finance Manager. The
Finance Manager will directly manage the newly added IT department and Accounting department.
Since headquarters will be responsible for all accounting functions throughout the organization, an
AP/AR clerk will directly report to the Accounting and Payroll Specialist. With the many new
proposed software additions, an IT person will be needed. IT will reside at headquarters and have
the capabilities to remotely access all PC s at any given time to monitor and troubleshoot

The Equal Pay Act Essay
One problem that Americans are facing is the inequality between men and women, whether it is in
everyday life or in a professional atmosphere. One step that has been taken toward equality was
introduced with the Equal Pay Act of 1963, signed by President John F. Kennedy. This law was the
first affecting the amount of job opportunities available for women and allowing them to work in
traditionally male dominated fields. On the outside, this would sound like a solution where nothing
could possibly go wrong, but it is not.
There are nearly as many women as there are men working, yet, as it was discovered in 2011, on
average, a woman will only earn seventy seven cents for every dollar that a man earns. Women

Banks, from the 1964 Disney Movie Mary Poppins, who was neglectful toward her children on her
journey for her rights.
Feminism is a living word. There can never truly be a one set definition for the word as the term has
often shifted meanings to correspond to the time period. Feminists fight for the rights that men have
under the United States Constitution and to have the right to not be discriminated against. Any
action against any woman, intentional or not, goes against the principles that many women and
men stand for.
The quest for equal rights is usually put into two different waves: the first wave being considered
women s suffrage and the second being the equal right movement. One big uprising in feminism
happened alongside the abolitionist movement. Many women started to realize that, as they were
fighting to get African Americans out of their version of perdition at the hands of their slave
owners, that they themselves were slaves to the will of the men in society. Since many women
petitioned for antislavery, the Congress in session at the time put forth the gag rule, which placed
many of these petitions off to the side for consideration.
The feminist movement that is more recognized was started by Betty Friedan. She was the author
of The Feminine Mystique, a book that called for many women to enrich themselves from the
unnamed problem that left

Sibling Relationships And Family Relationships
Over time the relationships you have with your siblings change, you can start out not liking each
other and then in later life being to love or tolerate each other ( Brothers, Sisters and Aging Parents

siblingrelationships is forced relationships that are maintained by the siblings to foster a lifelong
relationship (Martin, Anderson, Rocca, 2005). Siblings play very different roles for each other,
friend, competitor, manager, and teacher (as cited in Martin et al., 2005). Sibling relationships can
be of three different types: Brother and brother, sister and sister, and brother and sister, all three
will be discussed. Brother and Brother relationships out of the three types seem to have the least
amount of telephone contact of all the types (Spitze Trent, 2006). Tend to help each other more
with giving help to each other than receiving help from each other, brothers tend to help with
giving advice over helping each other with transportation (Spitze Trent, 2006). Brothers would

Brother relationships tend to be completive with each other trying to outdo each other. Brothers

Students will begin by making personal connections to their own traits. Students will cut a large

inner characteristics to describe themselves. They will partner with someone to add a feature they

Summary Of The Victory Season
The Victory Season: The End of World War II and the Birth of Baseball s Golden Age written by
Robert Weintraub is focused on the 1946 Major League Baseball season after World War II
when America was ready to heal. During the war, parks were empty, the balls were made with
fake rubber, and all of America s favorite players were serving in the war. When players returned,
they exchanged their military uniforms for baseball uniforms and the sport of baseball quickly
became a key tool which helped many American s return to their normal, everyday lives. Parks
began to fill up again and a new era of baseball was born. Although so many soldiers returning at
once did cause some issues, the National League was very competitive and many thrived on it.
Weintraub discusses many events considered to be baseball s best times including: the difficult,
yet rewarding transition of baseball players from military service to the major leagues, The
Brooklyn Dodgers breaking the racial segregation in the league by signing a black man, Jackie
Robinson, the introduction of the Mexican League, in which American players signed with to
receive higher salaries, and the 1946 World Series between the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis

Obesity Epidemic
The American Obesity Epidemic The American obesity epidemic is an issue that has become
increasingly prevelant over the years. While this is a very large and complex issue, it can be
primarily pin pointed to a few key factors, such as poverty, lifestyle, and the types and availability
of food these days.
The largest contributing factor to obesity in this country is poverty. Charles L. Baum discusses this
extensively in his article The Effects of Food stamps on Obesity. Poverty has historically been
associated with a decrease in food consumption. This at least partially changed in 1964, when the
Food Stamp Act began guaranteeing food for those in poverty. Since the act s passage, obesity has

God, to people of religion, shapes how people live their lives ever since they were young; how they grow, learn, play, economics and who they should fall in love with. God is what maps out their lives, and for the Jews during the Holocaust , this was a backbone for life. In the text, when the Jews get brutally targeted in the Holocaust, Wiesel feels betrayed by God. Through it all, Wiesel goes on a self journey trying to stay alive and trying to stay loyal to his faith. When Wiesel first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wiesel wants his faith to come back, but he still feels conflicted. Furthermore he states How could I say to Him: Blessed be Thou, Almighty, Master of the Universe, who chose us among all nations to be tortured day and nightm to watch as our fathers, our mothers, our brothers end up in furnaces? Gautama admits the flaw, but continues on, The teaching which you have heard...is not my opinion, and its goal is not to explain the world to those who are thirsty for knowledge. Its goal is quite different; its goal is salvation from the suffering. That is what Gautama teaches, nothing else. Chapter 3, pg. 27. • 11. The Effect Of Soil On The Soil Formation Of Soil The soil is a complex mixture of minerals, water, air, organisms and organic matter that are decaying remains of once living things. The soil is vital in supporting plant life and all forms life. The soil is not consistent throughout the world because of the way that it is formed and environmental factors that vary through the process of soilformation. The factors that play the most important role in the formation of soil are climate, organisms, relief, parent material and time. These factors form the acronym CLORPT that is used to describe the processes. Climate includes factors such as temperature and moisture; they are important in determining the speed of weathering and the decay rate of the organic material. Organisms include animals that burrow through the soil that affects the permeability and amount of air in the soil. Other organisms in the soil are bacteria that affect the rate of decay of organic matter. Relief is the direction and slope of the surface. This factor determines the amount of sunlight and how much water is kept in the soil. Parent Material influences the chemical characteristics of the soil. For example, a soil formed from limestone will have higher calcium concentration than soils that are formed from a parent material with lower calcium than limestone. Time affects soil by how much time it had to develop. Older soil will be different than younger soil because it has had more time to breakdown parent material and decay organic matter. CLORPT ... Conversely, another counter terrorism strategy Canada may pursue is to support UN leadership in the fight against terrorism. Recognizing the global nature of terrorism, proponents of this policy argue that Canada must strengthen the UN s effectiveness on security matters to ensure any international response to this issue reflects the interests and the needs of all in the global community. Under such a policy, Canada would have to debate all possible counter terror strategies in front of the UN and would have to adhere to established treaties and work towards drafting more resolutions aimed to limit chemical, nuclear and biological weapons. How Did Shakespeare Change Over Time Emergent large, commercial theatres during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I ((1558 1603) were able to reach an unprecedented level of artistic achievement due to unprecedented socio cultural changes. These changes included a breakdown of the feudal system of the Middle Ages, the Protestant Reformation and a movement towards Humanism. Despite these radical societal transformations, continuities with the beliefs and structures of the recent past including the concept of a Chain of Being and a belief in the four humours of the body are evident during Shakespeare s lifetime. A demand for labour was created by the rapid rise of industrial towns and the Black Death, which wiped out two thirds of England s labour force. This issue is becoming evident as the number of people retrieving their news through Google and Facebook increases. Personalisation through searches is evolving to only show the consumer what they want to see not what they need to see. Online Organiser and Author of The Filter Bubble , Eli Pariser argues in his TED Talk about the unreliability of not being exposed to information that could broaden our worldwide view and possibly resolve pivotal democratic issues. This cycle of trying to consistently please the users is becoming evident within search organisations and has evolved with technology as algorithmic filters were introduced having an unbalanced and unethical filter. This invisible filter is now generating a personal unique universe of information (Pariser, 2011), for every individual user, enforcing the inability to have a functioning democracy because of the public not receiving accurate and most importantly balanced information. The Filter Bubble s motive is to create a personalised environment online through the search engine, by getting to know the source of sites it thinks it s consumer is interested in. Fear is an amazing emotion, in that it has both psychological as well as physiological effects on the human body. In instances of extreme fear, the mind is able to function in a way that is detached and connected to the event simultaneously. In Feared Drowned, Sharon Olds presents, in six brief stanzas, this type of instance. Her sparse use of language, rich with metaphors, similes and dark imagery, belies the horror experienced by the speaker. In this respect, even the very sound of this poem reinforces its central idea of drowning. In the third stanza, the speaker scans the swimmers emerging from the water, realizing that none of them is her husband. The lack of emotion in her tone suggests that the speaker is experiencing that state of simultaneous detachment and connection that often occurs in moments of intense panic. The sense of foreboding is reinforced in the fourth stanza: Rocks stick out near the shore like heads / Kelp snakes in like a shed black suit... One wonders if the shed black suit is meant to be a symbol for typical funereal attire, perhaps the black suit the speaker fears she will bury her husband in. It is not until the fifth stanza that the speaker s body belies her fear and shock with a natural physiological response: My stomach begins to contract as if to / vomit salt water. It was published in 1815 with a new revision after realizing there were words that needed to be changed in Poet in Two Volumes edition (Abishek, 2013). This poem is one of the examples of romantic era. I love this poem because the content is related to nature. It is true with the statement from Xiaolin Huang, Feifei Pei, and Changle Fu (2014) that William Wordsworth often called himself as A Worshiper of Nature so everyone called him as a poet of nature. He thought that nature could illuminate the kind heartedness and universal brotherhood of human being, and only present in harmony with the nature where human could get the truly happiness.... These daffodils grew under the trees and were close to the lake. The breeze made these daffodils easily fluttering like they were happily dancing. While in the second stanza, the poet saw these flowers shining and twinkling brightly like stars in the Milky Way. They spread over a large area along the bay margin with a huge quantity. Moreover, in the third stanza, the poet tells that both of lake and daffodils were also dancing. He shows that the daffodils looked beautiful rather than the sparkling of the lake because the daffodils have more glee. Here he shows the loneliness gradually turning into happiness because of his companions (lake and daffodils) but he could not understand what he gained from his experience. For final stanza, it tells that whenever the poet felt loneliness, he could remember the happiness when he saw the dancing daffodils. • 23. Analysis Of Dear White People The television series Dear White People by Justin Simien portrays stereotypical problems of racial identity in today s society, however, the creator imbeds the series with hidden messages that are not particularly intended. The show exemplifies how people of color try to deal with living in a society where they are not particularly welcome in a place of elite higher education. It follows a group of colored students as they navigate through life in college attending a primarily white Ivy League university. In the series, the creator implements the ideas of two sided racism, political correctness, and misplaced power. Although this show suggests it is about white people and their faults, Simien portrays two sided racism in the series although it is not addressed head on. The show s protagonist, Sam White who is also a woman, is characterized as the angry black chic on campus because she believes all white people have white privilege. She speaks her mind through her radio show Dear White People where she bashes white people and their beliefs. Throughout the series, Sam speaks against white people as oppressors, however, most people don t recognize that this is also a form of racism. For example, in season one episode one, Sam is caught in a scandalous relationship with a white man. Those who look up to her as a leader to the black community are disgusted with her. As the episode progresses Sam tried to integrate her white boyfriend, Gabe, into her group but he is not welcomed. This implies that one should not mix with the other side or everything you stand for is void. Although the show doesn t blatantly state it Sam s group of colored friends are oppressing white people. Oppressing those who oppress others does not make one right. The colored characters in this series blame all white people for their problems and portray white people as always in the wrong. The show is focused on how white people oppress others and further racism, however, what one doesn t recognize is that when the group being oppressed upon retaliates with the exclusion of their oppressors it doesn t make them any better. • 28. Leif Enger’s Peace Like a River Essay Leif Enger s Peace Like a River Life can be viewed as a battle field, a constant fight between good and evil. In Leif Enger s Peace Like a River, this scenario was well depicted. In the novel, there was a constant fight taking place between the good and evil characters, and though based around family, love, and brotherhood, the novel mainly focused on the conflict between these characters. This student felt that it was fair to classify the Lands along with Roxanna Cowley, The Shultzs and Dr. Nokes as the good characters. This was a fair classification as these characters maintained their positive personas throughout the novel. After the two murders Superintendent Holgren began to treat Jeremiah differently, as he allowed his opinion to determine whether or not Jeremiah deserved the job. Holgren made work even more difficult and disagreed with everything that Jeremiah did. Jeremiah, being the calm person that he was, never retaliated with negative words. He allowed Holgren to mistreat him, even in front of the staff and students in the school. Holgren finally resorted to firing Jeremiah in front of everyone, but Jeremiah simply touched his face and walked away. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing (Budha). Jeremiah did nothing but simply left things in God s hands. He allowed Holgren to make a fool out of himself and surprisingly, he healed Holgren s face from those unsightly sores. Once again good triumphed over evil. This student felt that Jeremiah maintained his composure and acted just as he should. The best way to deal with situations is to walk away and Jeremiah proved to have such discipline. The Lands faced a lot of negativity from persons who were once considered family friends. It must have been difficult for the Lands as they were viewed negatively because of Davy s actions. Although many persons betrayed them, the Lands could still count on a few old friends. The Shultzs and Dr. Nokes continued to support them even if they did not agree with Davy s actions. Keeping the psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic characteristics in mind for my future classroom as well as some classrooms I have been in working with and observing students. This paper will talk about the best way I feel is to reach the linguistic needs of my students. There were about twenty five ELL students in my classroom this past semester, however, I only worked with six. All the ELL students in my class were Spanish speakers as their first language. Although I didn t work with these students more than once a week, I gained a good enough sense of my six students I will be keeping them in mind as I write this paper. There were five boys and one girls. I addressed their language learning needs in a few ways. I typically worked with my student during their English time during the day to help the develop their English. One way I addressed the needs of my students by making flash cards for the vocabulary words that I would be teaching my students each week. I also adjusted my speech when talking to the students for when the students were not understanding me, using simpler words. Also at times when my students were not understanding English, or felt like they were not able to write in English I let them speak in Spanish between each other to help clarify what was happening and I would let the students write in Spanish, then tell me what they were saying in English. All lesson I did with these student were in English only due to the class I was in was to help the stunt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Six new states emerged Indonesia, Malaya, Burma, the Philippines, Indochina and Thailand. Discuss economic and social change in the region with reference to ONE Southeast Asian state. Economic and social change within Indonesia Introduction After over a quarter century of sustained economic growth, Indonesia was struck by a major economic crisis at the end of the 20th Century. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only has the economy grown rapidly over the last quarter century but there has also been dramatic demographic and social change. Fertility rates have declined substantially and there have been massive investments in human capital. This can be seen in secondary school enrollment rates which have risen from a mere 6% in 1960 to more than 50% today; primary school enrollment is essentially universal. (Poppele 1999) The investments are also reflected in the health of the population: at birth, the average Indonesian today expects to live to the age of 61 which is 50% longer than he or she expected 30 years ago. Thus, the labor force has not only grown dramatically in size but also in quality. The consequences of these improvements are reflected in significant rising real wage levels over the last three decades. (Smith 2002) Pride in its past economic achievements and optimism about its future were suddenly challenged by the economic crisis which was accompanied by dramatic shifts in the economic and political landscape of the country. As indicated in Figure 1, the rupiah came under pressure in the last half of 1997 when the exchange rate began showing signs of weakness. After falling by half from around 2,400 per US$ to about 4,800 per US$ by December 1997, the rupiah collapsed in January 1998 when, over the course of just a few days, the exchange rate fell by 400% to Rp16,000 per US$. • 32. Reaction Paper On The Apology Of Socrates Undoubtedly, the Apology of Socrates is one of the most significant work among all the classics. It is an account of the speech of Socrates makes at the trial in defence for the accusations of not recognizing Gods recognised by the Greek and corrupting the adolescents of Athens. Throughout the speech, Socratesspeaks in a very plain manner to attempt to defend himself and his conduct. Though Socrates was sentenced to death as even his eloquent argument could not persuade all the juries, his final speech provides tremendous philosophical insights that help us to examine ourselves. At such, I believe the Apology of Socrates teaches us quite a few important ideas, that include the necessity for one to be humble withstanding one knows a lot... In addition, even the new idea generated from the dialogues of two individuals is not true at all, it still gives meaning to the truth and prevent the truth from becoming an unchallenged dogma. One step that has been taken toward equality was introduced with the Equal Pay Act of 1963, signed by President John F. Kennedy. This law was the first affecting the amount of job opportunities available for women and allowing them to work in traditionally male dominated fields. On the outside, this would sound like a solution where nothing could possibly go wrong, but it is not. There can never truly be a one set definition for the word as the term has often shifted meanings to correspond to the time period. Feminists fight for the rights that men have under the United States Constitution and to have the right to not be discriminated against. Any action against any woman, intentional or not, goes against the principles that many women and men stand for. The quest for equal rights is usually put into two different waves: the first wave being considered women s suffrage and the second being the equal right movement. One big uprising in feminism happened alongside the abolitionist movement. Many women started to realize that, as they were fighting to get African Americans out of their version of perdition at the hands of their slave owners, that they themselves were slaves to the will of the men in society. Since many women petitioned for antislavery, the Congress in session at the time put forth the gag rule, which placed many of these petitions off to the side for consideration. The feminist movement that is more recognized was started by Betty Friedan. Summary Of The Victory Season The Victory Season: The End of World War II and the Birth of Baseball s Golden Age written by Robert Weintraub is focused on the 1946 Major League Baseball season after World War II when America was ready to heal. During the war, parks were empty, the balls were made with fake rubber, and all of America s favorite players were serving in the war. When players returned, they exchanged their military uniforms for baseball uniforms and the sport of baseball quickly became a key tool which helped many American s return to their normal, everyday lives. Parks began to fill up again and a new era of baseball was born. Although so many soldiers returning at once did cause some issues, the National League was very competitive and many thrived on it. Weintraub discusses many events considered to be baseball s best times including: the difficult, yet rewarding transition of baseball players from military service to the major leagues, The Brooklyn Dodgers breaking the racial segregation in the league by signing a black man, Jackie Robinson, the introduction of the Mexican League, in which American players signed with to receive higher salaries, and the 1946 World Series between the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals, where the Cardinals defeated the Sox in the seven game series.
