Essay on Personal Narrative
Our Marriage
Our official journey began on August 2, 1997 in Las Vegas. That was our wedding day and my
official entry into married life. Tim and I said, ?I do? in Clark County, Nevada. The clerk
declared us best friends for life in a ceremony with just the two of us. That declaration was more
profound and welcomed than one any priest could have made.
Our wedding cost a total of seventy two dollars, this included the license and ceremony. I should
also include the cost of what I call our wedding planner. His name was Jake and he was a taxi
driver, he charged us fifteen dollars and we tipped him fifteen for his extra duties, it was a special
day. When we arrived in Las Vegas from Boulder our car started to over heat from the... Show more

I tried to decide if this effect was to make her look older or younger. My first thought was that
somebody needed to call the police immediately, this just isn t right. I started making up stories in
my head about what could have brought the pair to this point in their lives. All the while I was
hoping that an elderly lady, the one he was actually intending to marry, would show up soon to
ease my distress, she didn t. It later occurred to me that they could have been having the same
thoughts about our presence in line. My God, look at that couple, she has on shorts and a tee shirt,
and he has on blue jeans! That is just not right. Our judgments invade and overrule our thoughts at
times.
A few weeks earlier I had called my mother to tell her I was getting married, in Las Vegas. She was
silent for a moment. She was in shock. Not because I was getting married in Vegas, but because I
was getting married. I had spent the majority of my adult years railing about how unnecessary the
institution of marriage was and how only men benefited from marriage, not women. Women lose
their identity, name, literally, and independence when they get married. This was my perception
and I had felt this way for as long as I could remember. I later learned that if there is one thing
marriage teaches you it is maybe you are not always right no matter how badly you want to be or
how strongly you believe you are.
Her shock soon turned to relief. She had already had the pleasure

Expansion of the Eurozone
Expansion of the EUROZONE
Introduction
The euro zone which is officially called the euro area consists of 17 countries. In other words, it
consists of countries which are also part of the European Union. The European Union consists of
approximately 27 member states. For a country to be a member of the euro zone it is necessary for
it to be a member of the European Union. A single currency was introduced as a result of European
union reforms and the currency was named as the Euro . Those countries which adopted the Euro
as their currency by giving up their local currencies became the member states of the Euro Zones.
These countries include: Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece,
Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain.
The Monetary policy of all the member states is the responsibility of the European Central Bank,
which is indirectly a part and parcel of the president of the bank and includes a central board of
European Bank which includes heads of national central banks. Though, some countries were
granted special permission under agreements with the European Union to use the Euro as their
currency and print them on their own but they did not become a member of the Euro zone as their
monetary policies were not under the control of the European Central Bank. These states that use
the Euro as their currency but do not form part of the Euro zone are called the micro states.
But the

Application Of A Penetration Testing Against `` My House...
Chapter 3: Practical test
My House lab Scenario.
For this coursework I have decided to perform a penetration testing against My House lab , to
evaluate and improve my WLAN Infrastructure security.
The scenario that I had examined is a WLAN Infrastructure Network using a Virgin Media Super
Hub (Netgear) , with more than 10 devices connected .
Looking on the internet about the router model I own I could make an interesting discovery. I
found an article written by an expert in computer security, Paul Moore, dating back to March
2014(Paul Moore,2014). This guy, a year ago, had found a flaw inside the super hub of
VirginMedia. Indeed reboot the router took 1 minute to start well, and in this minute for seven
seconds was able to access the WiFi network without the need for key. Fortunately Paul contacted
the Virgin who in turn contacted the Netgear to try to resolve the issue with the release of a new
firmware.
Now the problem is resolved, however is an interesting issue happened, because sometimes, our
security depends not only on us and what we can do to protect it and keep it. Sometimes there may
be larger obstacles, as in this case an error of firmware that we can circumvent but not eliminate
(until the company responsible is not able to patch it).
Methodologies
I adopted different steps to performing penetration testing that is effective in testing how well the
My House lab is secure. I have used different softwares such as NMap , Wareshark,

Adam And Eve Loss Of Knowledge Essay
The tale of Adam and Eve, an infamous account in the book of Genesis, depicts man s original
disobedience in eating of the Tree of Knowledge and serves as humankind s first archetype of the
innate relationship between lost innocence and the attainment of knowledge. As portrayed in the
story, God s severe punishment of Adam and Evefor consuming the forbidden fruit insinuates that
it is wrong to desire knowledge, more specifically, the knowledge of humanity s potential for good
and evil. The resultant loss of innocence from gaining this moral comprehension is all too
frequently regarded as sinful, undesirable, and ultimately regrettable. The concept however, of
pursuing a greater understanding of the natures of others and oneself is not fundamentally wrong
as it expresses a kind of valuable moral growth. As evidenced by further analysis of the story of
Adamand Eve, it is apparent that although acquiring knowledge does... Show more content on

In the case of Adam and Eve, the two became gradually more knowledgeable after eating the fruit
and were forced to depart from the childlike innocence that they had experienced in the Garden of
Eden. This same departure is further illustrated by the responsibilities that children are assigned
once they begin to mature. No longer are they solely accountable for their own person, but their
actions must also reflect consideration for the well being of those around them as they now have
the ability to reflect upon issues outside of themselves. This erasure of ignorance is of great
importance as it now allows for the construction of moral dimension within mankind. The
consumption of the fruit symbolizes the acquirement of a wealth of moral knowledge for Adam and
Eve and the recognition of their individual obligations in human

Ethical Behavior in Law Enforcement, Checks and Balances
Introduction
For the past few years, law enforcement in this country has dominated the news. Unfortunately, this
has been mostly in a negative light (e.g., Ferguson, Missouri; Black Lives Matter; etc...). The
purpose of this analysis is not to litigate those issues, rather to address how the police enforce
ethical behavior within their ranks and how the rights of the police are protected. The focus on this
case study analysis will be on a local law enforcement agency. That agency is the Brevard County
Sheriff s Office (BCSO). BCSO employs over 1,000 personnel, including ... Show more content on

Later that same year, James H. Nance (a well known Melbourne attorney) was Chairman of the
Civil Service Board. He asked for and received an opinion from the Florida Attorney General that
Civil Service Hearings fell under the States Sunshine Law which meant they were declared to be
public meetings open to the public at all times (Florida Office of the Attorney General).
Florida was the second state in the country to enact the formalized Law Enforcement Officer Bill of
Rights as an extra layer of protection for Law Enforcement Officers. Florida State Statute (FSS)

The union contract between the Sheriffs Office and the Coastal Florida Police Benevolent

Online Banking
Introduction
The World Wide Web has changed our culture in so many ways. People are able to do so many
activities over the World Wide Web, it is unbelievable. You can pursue a degree through online
universities, communicate with users around the world, purchase goods and services online, and
yes, you can bank and pay your bills online. This new technology has enabled us to make payments,
maintain a checking/debit card account, balance transfers, all via the web. You can maintain your
entire financial portfolio through online banks that provide this feature. There are online banks that

These services used to range from free to fifteen dollars per month.
Disadvantages of online banking include the amount of time it takes to create and authorize your
account. In most cases, you will be required to visit the local branch to sign verification papers
and provide authentic identification. I must say I disagree with the article calling this a
disadvantage. It is certainly not convenient, but I would not call it a disadvantage. The learning
curve is listed as a disadvantage. Online banking sites can be very difficult to navigate, especially
for new users.
Finally, and probably the most obvious, is the issue of trust you have in your online banking
facility. How secure is the transmission of my private information? How can I be sure the
transaction went through? Who else will have access to my information? This trust issue and
skepticism of security is by far the biggest concern of potential online banking consumers. The
Ponemon Institute is dedicated to studying ethical information management practices and research.
The institute conducted a survey this year entitled Privacy Trust Survey for Online Banking with
2,300 participants. In the institute s research, it is found that eighty two percent of banking
consumers say identity theft is their main concern. The next two biggest concerns are telemarketing
abuse and unauthorized

Analysis Of The Poem Happy Valley
The Hyperthymestic Storyteller Outside of the desk, however, is the rest of the house, the
living place of both the owner of the camera, and the camera itself. It s a two story house, with
2,986 square feet of area, and a property of a quarter acre. In a greater context, the house is
located in Happy Valley, a suburb southeast of Portland, Oregon. A quick tour around the house
shows many objects that describe the people who live in the house: family pictures, a piano and
three violins, three cars, and Bible verses on the walls. Happy Valley is one of the wealthier
suburbs in all of Portland, with a median salary higher than West Linn or Lake Oswego: the
presence of three cars further exemplifies this. In such a wealthy community, having a quarter
acre house indicates that the owners of this house must be at least lower middle class or middle
class. The presence of the piano and violins, as well as some paintings on the wall, shows an
interest in arts, and with an entire bookcase of CDs, especially music. Looking at the pictures on
the refrigerator, it is clear that this is a family of four, with two boys. Finally, the presence of Bibles
around the house, as well as Bible verses hung on the walls are a testament to the Christian beliefs
of this family. This unassuming suburban home in America demonstrates many characteristics of
the previous society. Christianity is traditionally a western religion with its roots in Western Europe.

Yeats Manipulation
Yeats ambivalence of his personal and political world is displayed through his manipulation of form
throughout his poetry. The Second Coming published in 1919 explores how chaos and destruction
was the cause of Yeats uncertainty of the worlds ability to become stable and peaceful. Easter 1916
published in 1921 highlights how through manipulating form Yeats can communicate his
uncertainty of the Rebels violence. Yeats modernist piece, The Second Coming utilises poetic form
to explore how the worlds characterisation of violence and disorder catalysed his uncertainty about
both the political world and his personal world. Beginning in media res, the tetrameter turning and

The consistent rhyme scheme 16 24 16 24 is reflective of the Easter Uprising which occurred on the
24th April 1916, this structured rhyme represents the military style of the uprising, reinforced
through symbolism of grey , a dark tone foreshadowing the nature of the uprising. Manipulating
form Yeats switches between iambic trimeter and iambic tetrameter styles, representing his
uncertainty about the Rebels actions. Yeats uses the colour symbolism of motely to explore his
mocking attitude towards the violent actions of Irish Rebels MacDonagh and MacBride ,
referencing their lack of impact and significance through the _________ polite meaningless words .
Although, Yeats experiences a realisation of the key role of MacDonagh and MacBride in
reconciling peace and unity within Ireland, he displays uncertainty about their use of violence.
Yeats uncertainty about the Rebels violence is represented through the oxymoronic frame that
closes each stanza, a terrible beauty is born reinforced through its repetition Yeats explore his
paradoxical feelings regarding the necessity of the rebel s violent actions, therefore reflecting his
ambivalence. Throughout the fourth stanza Yeats manipulates form through his repeated use of
question marks, further catalysing his uncertainty of violence and conflict. Yeats questions if all the
destruction and death that resulted from the Rebels violent actions was in fact needed to achieve
peace, reinforced through the ________ was it needless death after all? . In conclusion, in Easter
1916 , Yeats reflects on the Irish Rebels violence which resulted in death and destruction, through
manipulating the poems form to reflect their impact, on both himself and the

My Family Experience
This experience has been emotionally demanding for me and a bit awkward. First off,
immediate family speaking, we have an implicit norm of not offending people by criticism their
actions but also, it s weird to compliment people on their behaviour. We stick to thank you , I
appreciate what you did and when there is a behaviour we find annoying we don t say a word. As
for my big family, in which I include my immediate family (mom and brother), my boyfriend and
my local church, we are allowed to give compliment and to share emotions with one another. With
this context being placed, it was easier to compliment my church sister C and my boyfriend
because we had this pre establish norm of it s acceptable to compliment and receive compliment
and criticisms but a bit harder to throw the first one at my mom.
The easiest appreciation to give was to my boyfriend, I have even say it twice. I believe it s
because. We have a turning toward response to each other s bids (Gottman DeClaire, 2001) it
makes it easier for us to compliment each other and even criticize politely one another.
The hardest I would say was the first one that I gave to my mom, it felt like an ice breaker. I
perceived it as breaking an implicit norm or rule we had for many years.
As I have recorded, in the table above, the impressions I had from the three compliments
/appreciations to my mother were each different, in her verbal response as well as my
interpretations. She first thought it was a question

Rural Beggars In The Ballet Class By Edgar Degas
are going onto the field after the harvest and picking up the leftovers of corn. They are a type of
rural beggars in an old traditional way. At the distance grain stack are seen piled up and the
people who harvested them are bent over exhausted after harvesting all the crops. Large bundles
of grain are visible in the background. In the foreground the three women are seen working
almost in a solitary manner, collecting the leftovers to feed their families. On close observation
it is seen that they have a white cloth tied around their hips which looks a bit heavy indicating
they have been collecting these leftovers for a while. Yet this amount is very small compared to
the enormous harvest in the background. A man sitting on a horse can be seen in the background
which looks like he is supervising the work done by the harvesters. He pays no attention to these
three women at all. Even though these women are some kind of beggars they still appear strong
and well fed. The colour used on the women is contrasting to the background. They are bent and
hence and below the horizon line. Their bent over round shape somehow blends and adds a rhythm
to the piles of harvest in the background. Millet is trying to convey this harsh truth in a soft manner

Weak Figurative Language
AJR s song Weak ,addresses the struggles of battling temptations and coming to terms with them.
The song portrays a young man fighting to gain control over his habits, but inability giving in,
convincing himself there s nothing wrong with being weak. Consequently the speaker begins to
associate love and joy to submitting to his temptations. Weak makes use of many types of
figurative language to convey this theme of giving in to temptations. Although there are many
examples of figurative language the most prevalent forms are metaphors and similes. The speaker
states: But temptations of trouble on my tongue, troubles yet to come ( 2 ). This metaphor
comparing trouble to being on the end of his tongue is used to represent how temptations are
surrounding the speaker, and how he is growing closer to falling for them. This quote plays a major
role in the construction of the theme by introducing the reader to the influences the speaker is
attempting to resist. Another crucial quote use by the speaker is: My habits, they hold me like...

The speaker states: One sip, bad for me/ One hit, bad for me/ One kiss, bad for me ( 3 5 ).
Although in moderation none of these things are truly bad for health the speaker uses this
combination of hyperboles and refrain to emphasize how it only takes one time to become
addicted. This series of lines reveals the speaker s awareness of his addictive personality and
trying to prevent addiction but he ultimately fails. The Final example of refrain is when the
speaker writes: I m weak/ But I m weak, and what s wrong with that? ( 13 14 ). The repetition of
these two lines throughout the song play a major part in depicting the speaker going back and
forth trying to convince himself it s ok to be weak in order to coax with his bad deeds. This use of
a coaxing mechanism shows the speaker has completely given in to his temptations and accepted his

Adolf Hitler Good And Evil Essay
Good and evil is an ever present feature of human history. Their presence is reflected through the
ages in tales of great heroism and extraordinary villainy. Such tales provides insight into human
nature, whether they involve two people or two thousand. The essence of heroism and villainy are
found in deeds rather than in numbers. It is the deeds that pique our interest and lead us to wonder
what prompts a man or woman to perform such acts.
Adolf Hitler was a man that left you to wonder was there any good in him among all that hatred
he displayed towards others. He was a man that grew up in a strict home and struggled to make it

Hands On Training Program
BBT should implement a hands on training program to facilitate learning transfer. A hands on
training method is tailored for job requiring a specific set of skills. Individuals can be trained
through a hands on learning program to ensure their success and ability to perform. BBT requires
individual repetition of skills to serve their customers and utilizing the following hands on
components: self directed learning, simulation, case studies, and an apprenticeship will increase
retention.
Self directed learning creates trainee empowerment. Motivation is key for the success of self
directed learning and BBT will need to explain how trainees can best utilize this learning process.
Content that is relevant to the job tasks need to be developed outlining learning outcomes and be
easily accessible. Trainers can facilitate and assist the trainee if needed, but not required. Self
directed learning is a flexible component that promotes a motivated employee.

Los Angeles Riots Of 1992 Essay
It was the evening of August 9th 2014, when a small town erupted in a state of chaos. St. Louis
County, Missouri was in a state of emergency as social riots spread. Belligerent men and women of
all ages, storm around town, destroying all that they can put their hands on. Private businesses are
burnt down and the windows of parked vehicles are shattered. Hateful slurs are graffitied around
town, with sayings like, fuck the police, and the only good cop is a dead cop. Rocks are thrown
and police officers use tear gas to control the growing crowd. Concerned locals lock themselves in
their homes hoping for the craziness to die down. In what seems to be a twisted dream, society as
we know it, has turned into a battle field.
A riot can be defined as the violent disturbance of society s peace, it is also known as the violent
version of a protest. Riots are often referred to as urban riots, due to most riots being in cities

The Piano Suites Diary Rodion Shchedrin Summary
The piano suites Diary composed by Rodion Shchedrin who is one of the most well known
contemporary composers and pianists in Russia, Shchedrin combines elements of Russian folklore
styles, baroque inspired polyphony and pantonality techniques. The combination of compositional
techniques has created a new musical language, present in his pianocompositions, fusing traditional
Western compositional techniques with Russian folk musical styles.
I used the score from the German publisher Schott Music. Diary, which is a set of seven
compositions. This work was written for pianist Anna Gourari. The first performance was in
Moscow on December 5, 2002. I found one commercial CD containing this suite, recorded by
Ekaterina Mechetina, in album Schedrin Shakhidi , available on Spotify for reference. As composer
suggested that it is possible to perform each piece separately, and he also mentioned attacca at each
end of the movements. In this suite, Shchedrin developed a compositional technique that
reintroduced the pitches of a single motive continuously throughout one movement, with rests as
space between phrases. This piano suite, as one of the Shchedrin s influential present piano works,
features a combination of performance elements and is attractive for both concert artists and young
age students. This repertoire ranges in medium difficulty and is filled with elements of dance, folk
music, traditional and non traditional harmonies. The use of contrasting textures and imaginative

The Practice Of Music And Enables Artists And Guest Curators
Preface Introduction
Have you ever rushed around Newcastle, totally preoccupied with the hectic hustle and bustle of
city life? Passersby are often too busy or late for something to really take in their surroundings.
The practice of busking has given Newcastle a soundtrack, a musical backdrop to the chaos of city
life. However, street performers are often restricted to limited areas in order to oblige the
regulations set out by the council.
This book introduces the aim of the project whereas to promote the practice of music and enables
artists and guest curators to explore their creativity while participating and engaging with music. A

The lack of interesting places for concert has affected people to have less interest in visiting music

It may not be the ultimate music space, but the premise of this project is to unite musicians with
supported facilities and give them the opportunity to promote their own music. Audiences will be
offered with a fully immersive ambience and a complete program of professional cultural
entertainment.
The book will demonstrate the intention of creating the music hall through its position first and
foremost as an entertainment, and secondly as a cultural presence that is increasingly seen as a key
element in regeneration plans.3
Nature of Subject / Topics
A lot of people s perception of buskers is both brutally frank and ironic despite this artistic practice
has always been as part of the contribution to this culture. They are far less appreciative of these

Kevin Prince Research Paper
Autobiography of Kevin Prince
Sometimes, I come home after school and stare at a framed picture on my wall of Taj Mahal to
remind me of where I was born, India. I spent the first seven years of my life there. Then my
family moved to Edmonton, Canada, searching for jobs because my dad s business profit back
home was decreasing immensely. English was very different from my first language, Malayalam,
but I was taught the alphabet and its pronunciations at school in India, therefore it was not
incredibly difficult for me to adapt. My classmates here were a little confused because I am from
India, but my name Kevin Prince. Then I told them that I am Christian and they got even more
confused. Over the past eight years that I have lived here, I became closer to my family, made many

The Movie Departures From The Historical Record
Davis claims that her work is more historical than the movie because the film maker s departures
from the historical record. (Benson 57). That is, Vigne s work lacks from historical understanding
because he divires from the right direction due to several reasons including but not restricted to
ignoring the Basque region, neglecting religious issues, and disregarding complicity of Bertrande
except in the last invented scene when she gave water to judge, and she confessed to him. More
importantly, the trial would have been confidential not open to public. In addition, the movie

Basically, the film is there to make money, so the producers have to make it accessible to as
many people as possible. Undoubtedly, the film producers make their finishing touch in order to
make it appeal to the audiences. They added some changes, such as using wrong color robes for
the judges of the Parlement of Toulouse as well as omitting vital information, which affects the
original story by intention or chance in make it an artistic touch rather than historical touch. It
seems to me that Davis s book is more historical than the movie because she provides a detailed
description of the life of rural families during that time, and the journey of Martin s family from
the Basque region to the Artigat because of political and economic reasons. She goes more and
demonstrates the social circumstances of the French peasantry in the sixteenth century. At any rate,
Davis s account of both the trial and village life in Artigat is more historically accurate than the
movie. Davis brings the story to life as a historical achievement. That is why Davis writes her book
specifically to address the shortage in the film and to follow the historical evidence closely. It is
unquestionable that historians tend to be skeptical about their sources; it is the nature of any
historical work, when they address basic facts that happened in the past. Obviously enough, in the
most cases,

Characteristics Of Surrey Neighbourhoods
Surrey Neighbourhoods
Throughout Surrey every neighbourhood has a different sense of place which is well defined
through its character which is a fundamental of sense of place in residential communities. Thus

Conclusion
To some extent the sense of place depends on the built form, surrounding features derived from a
mix of natural and cultural features in the landscape, aesthetics and characteristic of the
neighbourhood but a major part depends on the feeling or perception held by people who occupy
the place and not by the place itself and thus makes a place special or unique, authentic or

by many visitors. It is a social phenomenon that exists independently of any one individual s

The divine wind racism
The Divine Wind The Divine Wind shows how difficult it is for communities to accept cultural
difference. Discuss. The community of Broome before the advent of World War II in The Divine
Wind at first appears to be an idyllic town in which Malays, Koepangers, Japanese, Manilamen
and Australians all work in relative harmony in search of the elusive pearl. Hartley Penrose, the
central narrator of the novel, seems to enjoy describing the tropical existence of Broome and its
harmony: mangoes and barramundi on the table , the half dozen languages, the slap of sandals and
bare feet. But for all its seeming harmony, Broome is a town where racial tensions simmer just
under the surface and evolve into a blatant racism with the coming of... Show more content on

Major Morrissey demonstrates a view typical of the ignorant racist if your Jap painted his face
with burnt cork, who would be the wiser? and shows a tendency to view people with totally
different cultures as one and the same. Such is his belief in his own superiority and the
unsuperiority of others of different race, that he neglects to realise that Japanese and Aboriginal
cultures are two very independent and separate ways of life. The racially and culturally
intolerant behaviour of the community of Broome shows how troublesome it is to accept
cultural difference. Even the two most unprejudiced and open minded characters in The Divine
Wind demonstrate the devastating effect of spreading racial intolerance in a small community.
Originally, Hart and Michael Penrose are indignant at the treatment of some of the Aboriginals

harm can they do anyone? Michael shows his disapproval in the most sarcastic manner when he

Property Rights And The Rights
1.0Introduction
Property rights and the right to own a property is a basic human right. Article 17.1 of the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that Everyone has the right to own property alone
as well as in association with others and that No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property .
The need for property rights due to the complexity of property is highly important and because of
this the Torrens system was created.
1.1 Aim of Report
The aim of the report is to satisfy the requirements outlined by the assignment brief, to gain a
thorough understanding of the need for property rights and the Torrens TitleSystem. Whilst
critically assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the system and the effect of the Torrens... Show

The evidence of ownership is the issue of a Certificate of Title containing the name of the owners of
the property. The certificate of title which can be found when conducting a title search provides
proof of ownership, property information and any rights to the land. For example, mortgages,
easements, encumbrances (if any) would be on the certificate of title.
2.1 History of Torrens Title System
Before the creation of the Torrens Title System, purchasing and selling land was overly
complicated and the ownership would have to be proven through providing a collection of deeds
clearly stating the history of ownership and both the buyer and seller would have to check
ownership. The Torrens Title System was introduced on January 27, 1858. Alongside many
contributors, Sir Robert Richard a politician in South Australia at the time, helped create and
establish the system as a result of necessity. The necessity sprung as result of the need for land
reform in South Australia as the then title system was deemed well below a satisfactory standard.
2.2 Wide Spread Adoption
Since its introduction and adoption in Australia, it has led to influencing many Nations around the
world and has been introduced in New Zealand, Canada, Africa and some states in the USA. The
basic principles of the system have also been utilised in other systems around the world, England,

Social Isolation
Social support constitutes the psychological and material resources provided by a social network
to benefit an individual s ability to cope with stressful events. The perceived ability of social
support may protect against the potential of stressful events to elicit psychological distress,
depression, and anxiety. Cohen asserted that possible explanation for the buffering effect of being
hugged is that hugs might be exchanged between individuals involved in a situation involving
tension and conflict either as a means of resolving that conflict or as a counter to associated
emotional aftereffects (138). Cohen summarized that these findings suggest that people who
regularly receive hugs are more protected than those who do not (144). Several... Show more

how she never dreamed for this and that she had other plans but in the end she has failed herself.
Later in the story Lucy has to go to a dole appointment. While she is there she talks about how

there because her lower class, grossed them out making her feel like a stain on society. Seeing this
Lucy takes into account that just because she s a single mom people start thinking of her

The Crime Of A Victimless Crime
A victimless crime is a term used to refer to actions that have been made illegal but which do not
directly violate or threaten the rights of any other individual. It often involves consensual acts
or solitary acts in which no other person is involved. Such acts would not lead to any person
calling for help from the police. Therefore, many people will argue that drug dealing, use, and
abuse is a victimless crime, but they are wrong. We have to ask ourselves what makes a crime a
crime? We know that crime is an action or omission that constitutes an offense that may be
prosecuted by the state and is punishable by law. However, it also consists of actions that cause
harm. With harm, there are in fact victims, although the harm may not be directly implied to just
one person, there still victims that are infected by the crime. With the topic of drugs , we have to
examine the types of harm that this act inflicts. The three types of harm that is caused by drug
dealing, use and abuse are individual, social and economic harm. People who sell drugs such as
cocaine, meth, heroin and other opiates are most defiantly committing a violent act. They are
delivering an substance of destruction to another person. Even though drug users demand the
substance they are still being victimized. Not everyone who uses hard drugs becomes addicted, but
millions do.There is a reason certain substances are categorized as dangerous drugs. There are

as a co recipient of the prestigious Carnegie Scholarship for mathematics. Nash is an arrogant,

Nash to kill himself, telling him to go on, bust your head, kill yourself... which demonstrates that
Nash is having suicidal thoughts. His behavior also includes diminished impulse control as he
throws a desk out the window of his dorm room. Nash attributes these thoughts and actions to
Charles rather than himself since he believes Charles is a real person. John Nash suffers from
paranoid schizophrenia and the most prominent symptom of paranoid schizophrenia is absurd or

these symptoms. The ideas of delusions of persecution are the most frequent beliefs thought of by

Once Woolf chose to combine the two separate stories, with the loss of unity this would imply,
she must dramatize the split in structure and make a virtue out of it. The contrast between the

balancing act, or to sacrifice one aspect of his life for another. Additionally, some artists are
inspired by personal experiences in their private and professional life to write a particular piece of
work. A classic example is Georges Seurat s life where he could not afford to accord his mistress
the attention she sought from him to the point where she had to leave him and marry another man.
Sunday in the park with George is musical that illustrates the struggles that Georges experienced as
an artist while doing his paintings. The musical follows... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The doctor by the name EugГЁne Delamare died as a result of his second wife s (Delphine)
actions. From observing this development in Gustave Flaubert s work, one can clearly see that the
events in the writer s personal life influenced his choice of story about Emma Bovary (Dudley,
2010). It is also noteworthy to mention that Gustave s father wanted Gustave to become a doctor,
something that Gustave was against. Therefore, it is possible that he saw a reflection of how his
life could have turned out had he followed in the footsteps of his father.
In Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf
, the author used some of the lead character s life story to
reflect her own personal story. Such an example is shown by the fact that the female characters in
the novel are hinted as to be engaging in lesbian affairs and later in her life Virginia Woolf had a
lesbian relationship with Vita Sackville West. This is an indicator of the fact that while certain
artists may write for pure entertainment and information, there are some who choose to write
about their real life accounts. When penning the play Hamlet, Shakespeare was experiencing a
personal loss that involved his own son Hamnet, who was only 11 years when he died (Dudley,
2010). Most scholars believe that the personal tragedy and loss of his only son might have moved
him into writing the tragedy based on the grief he

Bridgestone Conflict
Over the course of an organizations life span, they will face issues with their environments which
can threaten the business unit, damage financial performance or destroy the public s trust in an
organization (Seeger, Sellnow, Ulmer, 1998). These issues or what can be called a crisis, can
occur for many reasons and can be the result of unpredictable events or unforeseeable
consequences. Any organization can be faced with a crisiswhich is considered any substantial
disruption in operations that physically affect an organization, its basic assumptions, or its core
activities (Parnell, 2014). Firms and their leadership must be able to formulate strategies which help
their organization deal with any sudden or negative events which could potentially... Show more

We have begun to strengthen our internal issues such as quality in order to decrease the affects
it has on our production and can have with our organization s ability to produce product. To limit
the quality damage, we have created technical teams to understand the issues and are working
with our vendors on the raw materials we use in our processes. This has helped us begin to
understand and pin point the break downs in the process. We have also incorporated technology
into the processes so we can gather real time date in order to react to any quality crises which come
up in the future. To minimize the impact of losing employees to the new facility, the organization
has started to pull in team members to understand their concerns. They have also looked into
programs which will strengthen the communication between leadership and employees. Although

Argumentative Essay On The Book Thief
In the past few weeks, we have been reading the book, the Book Thief by Markus Zusak. The
book tells the story of Liesel Meminger, a girl from Germany in the time of the Holocaust. The
book starts with her as a nine year old, and progresses through her life until she is an old lady.
The story details the life of this woman through these times. And in the story, her priorities are
reading and learning. She steals books like The Grave Digger s Handbook and The Shoulder
Shrug, but one book which has negative influence was the book made by the Nazi Leader, Adolf
Hitler, Mein Kampf (My Struggle). Hitler wrote the autobiographical book, which was spread
around the Germans, who were brainwashed by the propaganda. The Mein Kampf influenced these
citizens, but was the influence good? The book created nothing but negativity. There are three
examples which are strong showings to prove the influence of the FГјhrer caused nothing but
hatred. Those three are Hans Junior, Max, and the entire population of the Jews. Those three
personas were effected in a way which caused nothing but hurt to people.
The first character is the son of Hans Hubermann, Hans Hubermann Junior. Max is one who was
taken by the propaganda of the Mein Kampf and mesmerised. What trash is this girl reading? She
should be reading Mein Kampf. (Page 105) Hans Junior has been convinced by the evil book that
anything that doesn t support the FГјhrer is garbage. Hans Junior also believes his father is lazy
and a coward,

Freakonomics Rhetorical Analysis
An incentive is a bullet, a key: an often tiny object with astonishing power to change a situation
(Levitt Dubner 16). Freakonomics is a book written in 2005 by award winning economist Steven
Levitt and former New York Times journalist Stephen Dubner while they both resided in different
states. The use of simple diction makes it so a larger audience can be reached; readers vary from
everyday people to students to economists. In order to better explain economics, Levitt and Dubner
appeal to their audience by forgoing economic jargon and using simpler terms to ensure that the
readers understand and relate to what is being explained throughout the passages. The authors also
appeal to the readers through their credible background and logically by using statistics, researches,
facts and parallelism.
The passage begins with the authors asking the readers to imagine for a moment... Levitt and
Dubner s use of the word imagine serves to get the audience engaged and keep them interested by
having them place themselves in the situation that is being explained. The use of the word imagine is

When explaining economics instead of using large over complicated words, the authors simply
state that economics is, at root, the study of incentives. Rather than utilizing economist argot,
Levitt and Dubner describe economics in a way that makes it easier to understand and put into
perspective. As the passage continues, the authors provide the audience with many relatable
examples such as if you break curfew you are grounded. People respond to incentives, it s the
way our society works, an incentive is simply a means of urging people to do more of a good
thing and less of a bad thing. Like Levitt and Dubner previously stated, economics is the study of
incentives and how it affects society and their decision making

The Brian Clark Case
According to the above petition filed on January 5, 2017, by Officer K. A. Tennyson, the
following occurred at Deep Creek High School (2900 Margaret Booker Drive) in the city of
Chesapeake, Virginia.
Brian Clark was instigating Patrick Raymond to fight him. About 5 minutes later, Brian told
Patrick that he was using his phone to record Patrick on live Facebook. Patrick asked Brian to
prove to him that he was recording him by showing him his phone and when Brian put his phone
to Patrick s face Patrick grabbed the phone to turn it off. Brian had earphones in his ear
connected to his phone when Patrick grabbed it, causing him to fall out of his seat. Brian then
stood up, walked up to Patrick and punched him in the face. Brian then began to choke Patrick
before slamming him to the ground. As Patrick was on the ground covering his head, he
received numerous punches to his face, ear, and also a kick to his upper chest before another
student stepped in to break up the altercation. Patrick suffered bruises and swelling to his face as
a result of the assault. Officer Tennyson was made aware of a video that displayed the assault that
was placed on social media. The video displayed Brian using a chokehold on ... Show more content

Nurse-Led Central Venous Catheter Insertion Essay
Nurse Led Central Venous Catheter Insertion
Central venous catheters (CVC) have various uses for patients in both the inpatient and outpatient
settings. Their purposes range from administration of total parenteral nutrition, to administration of
vesicant medication, to providing access to patients with poor peripheral vascularity, as well as
hemodynamic monitoring (Alexandrou, Spencer, Frost, Parr, Davidson, Hillman, 2009, p. 1485).
Traditionally, insertion of CVCs have been performed by surgeons and internal radiologists.
However, with the advancement of roles in nursing, there has been ongoing research supporting the
pro stance on the practice of nurse led central venous catheter insertion. Before nurses began
inserting CVCs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Four deaths in one year have also resulted from CVAD insertion (Kelly, Young, Ellis, 2013, S6).
Post CVAD insertions can be unpredictable, uncontrollable, and thus resulting in increased stress for
nurses.
Walker Todd (2013) questioned if nurse led peripherally inserted central catheter(PICC) insertion
is cost effective. The authors of the article support nurse led PICC insertion due to increased
patient satisfaction with nurses over internal radiologists and decreased costs when compared to
internal radiologists. Patients favored nurses over internal radiologists due to their satisfaction with
the nurses explanation of treatment prior to PICC insertion. The study also revealed that nurse led
PICC insertion was more cost effective when compared to internal radiologists, since internal
radiologists require the use of costly operating theatres and X ray screening. Infection rate and
dislodge rate were also found higher in internal radiologists than nurses (Walker Todd, 2013, p.
S14).
Walker Todd (2013) identified the cons of nurse led PICC insertion in their article, which included
the higher rate of successful insertions by internal radiologists and the benefits of PICC insertion in
operating theatres rather than at the bedside. The insertion success rate of internal radiologists was
higher at 100%. However, the nurses also demonstrated a high insertion success rate at 93.1%

Examples Of Prejudice In Snow Falling On Cedars
Prejudice Among Japanese Americans in Post World War II times and Now Since they could
not forget about it, neither could he (Guterson 31). This quote explains how Kabuo Myiamoto
felt after his help in the war. He tried to forget about how they made him feel, but after a while, it
was hard to ignore the fact that he was Japanese. In today s society, the words racism and
prejudice are used mostly in a joking manner. The story of Snow Falling on Cedars takes place in
a post World War II time. The words racism and prejudice were not used so lightly back then.
World War II had caused animosity between the United States and Japan. After the war, the
Japanese were treated as less than citizens. During and after World War II, there were many articles

A story similar to Snow Falling on Cedars, called Divine Wind, is about a Japanese couple in
Australia. The story depicts a lifetime love story between two Japanese Australians, but the
conflict of war separates the two. This book not only shows what is was like to be a person of
Japanese descent during the war, but also how people would have treated you and acted towards
you if you were Japanese (Rosser). Today, the focus of racism and prejudice isn t so much on
Japanese Americans, but rather on some other minority races such as African Americans and
Latinos. Prejudice among people today is both similar and different to the prejudice during and
after World War II. An example would be the murder of Trayvon Martin, which compares to the
murder in Snow Falling on Cedars. Many of the stories told today are stories about people who
dealt with racism. Many people during World War II felt that the claims made against the Japanese
Americans were false and unjust. The feelings of many Japanese Americans have never been
forgotten, maybe repressed and ignored, but not forgotten. The prejudice in our country has not left,
or faded away, but been subtly hidden in today s

The Effects Of Internet On Today s Youth
With many new phenomena s playing such a big part on today and future societies no other
influence has been bigger than the Internet. The Internet, a mechanism for information
dissemination and a place for interaction between individuals and their computers without regard
for geographic location, has opened and closed doors to opportunity. Some consider the Internetto
be the greatest innovation of our generation, some not so much. The best way to analyze the effects
the Internet has had, is to look at the effects it has had on different aspects in this country. Take a
look at the effects the internet has had on today s youth, the music industry as well as its effect on
the way politics and business has taken advantage of the innovation... Show more content on

In 1965 another M.I.T. scientist developed a way of sending information from one computer to
another that he called packet switching. This was a precaution taken that saved the data, breaks it
into blocks and sends it whatever route you wanted keeping the information secure unlike the
scare they had with the communication of the phone line ( The Invention ). By the end of the
1970s, a computer scientist named Vinton Cerf had begun to solve this problem of a single
worldwide internet by developing a way for all of the computers on all of the world s mini
networks to be able to interact with any other network around the world. He called his invention
Transmission Control Protocol, or TCP ( The Invention ). Cerf s protocol transformed the Internet
into a worldwide network. Throughout the 1980s, researchers and scientists used it to send
information and different files of data from one computer to another. However, in 1991 the Internet
changed once more. That same year, a computer programmer in Switzerland named Tim Berners
Lee introduced the World Wide Web
. An Internet that was not simply a way to send information
from one place to another but was itself a web of information that anyone on the Internet could
access. Berners Lee created the Internet that we know and use today ( The Invention ). Different
browsers would be created throughout time such as Google, Bing and Yahoo just to name a few as

  • 2. Essay on Personal Narrative Our Marriage Our official journey began on August 2, 1997 in Las Vegas. That was our wedding day and my official entry into married life. Tim and I said, ?I do? in Clark County, Nevada. The clerk declared us best friends for life in a ceremony with just the two of us. That declaration was more profound and welcomed than one any priest could have made. Our wedding cost a total of seventy two dollars, this included the license and ceremony. I should also include the cost of what I call our wedding planner. His name was Jake and he was a taxi driver, he charged us fifteen dollars and we tipped him fifteen for his extra duties, it was a special day. When we arrived in Las Vegas from Boulder our car started to over heat from the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I tried to decide if this effect was to make her look older or younger. My first thought was that somebody needed to call the police immediately, this just isn t right. I started making up stories in my head about what could have brought the pair to this point in their lives. All the while I was hoping that an elderly lady, the one he was actually intending to marry, would show up soon to ease my distress, she didn t. It later occurred to me that they could have been having the same thoughts about our presence in line. My God, look at that couple, she has on shorts and a tee shirt, and he has on blue jeans! That is just not right. Our judgments invade and overrule our thoughts at times. A few weeks earlier I had called my mother to tell her I was getting married, in Las Vegas. She was silent for a moment. She was in shock. Not because I was getting married in Vegas, but because I was getting married. I had spent the majority of my adult years railing about how unnecessary the institution of marriage was and how only men benefited from marriage, not women. Women lose their identity, name, literally, and independence when they get married. This was my perception and I had felt this way for as long as I could remember. I later learned that if there is one thing marriage teaches you it is maybe you are not always right no matter how badly you want to be or how strongly you believe you are. Her shock soon turned to relief. She had already had the pleasure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Expansion of the Eurozone Expansion of the EUROZONE Introduction The euro zone which is officially called the euro area consists of 17 countries. In other words, it consists of countries which are also part of the European Union. The European Union consists of approximately 27 member states. For a country to be a member of the euro zone it is necessary for it to be a member of the European Union. A single currency was introduced as a result of European union reforms and the currency was named as the Euro . Those countries which adopted the Euro as their currency by giving up their local currencies became the member states of the Euro Zones. These countries include: Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain. The Monetary policy of all the member states is the responsibility of the European Central Bank, which is indirectly a part and parcel of the president of the bank and includes a central board of European Bank which includes heads of national central banks. Though, some countries were granted special permission under agreements with the European Union to use the Euro as their currency and print them on their own but they did not become a member of the Euro zone as their monetary policies were not under the control of the European Central Bank. These states that use the Euro as their currency but do not form part of the Euro zone are called the micro states. But the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Application Of A Penetration Testing Against `` My House... Chapter 3: Practical test My House lab Scenario. For this coursework I have decided to perform a penetration testing against My House lab , to evaluate and improve my WLAN Infrastructure security. The scenario that I had examined is a WLAN Infrastructure Network using a Virgin Media Super Hub (Netgear) , with more than 10 devices connected . Looking on the internet about the router model I own I could make an interesting discovery. I found an article written by an expert in computer security, Paul Moore, dating back to March 2014(Paul Moore,2014). This guy, a year ago, had found a flaw inside the super hub of VirginMedia. Indeed reboot the router took 1 minute to start well, and in this minute for seven seconds was able to access the WiFi network without the need for key. Fortunately Paul contacted the Virgin who in turn contacted the Netgear to try to resolve the issue with the release of a new firmware. Now the problem is resolved, however is an interesting issue happened, because sometimes, our security depends not only on us and what we can do to protect it and keep it. Sometimes there may be larger obstacles, as in this case an error of firmware that we can circumvent but not eliminate (until the company responsible is not able to patch it). Methodologies I adopted different steps to performing penetration testing that is effective in testing how well the My House lab is secure. I have used different softwares such as NMap , Wareshark, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Adam And Eve Loss Of Knowledge Essay The tale of Adam and Eve, an infamous account in the book of Genesis, depicts man s original disobedience in eating of the Tree of Knowledge and serves as humankind s first archetype of the innate relationship between lost innocence and the attainment of knowledge. As portrayed in the story, God s severe punishment of Adam and Evefor consuming the forbidden fruit insinuates that it is wrong to desire knowledge, more specifically, the knowledge of humanity s potential for good and evil. The resultant loss of innocence from gaining this moral comprehension is all too frequently regarded as sinful, undesirable, and ultimately regrettable. The concept however, of pursuing a greater understanding of the natures of others and oneself is not fundamentally wrong as it expresses a kind of valuable moral growth. As evidenced by further analysis of the story of Adamand Eve, it is apparent that although acquiring knowledge does... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the case of Adam and Eve, the two became gradually more knowledgeable after eating the fruit and were forced to depart from the childlike innocence that they had experienced in the Garden of Eden. This same departure is further illustrated by the responsibilities that children are assigned once they begin to mature. No longer are they solely accountable for their own person, but their actions must also reflect consideration for the well being of those around them as they now have the ability to reflect upon issues outside of themselves. This erasure of ignorance is of great importance as it now allows for the construction of moral dimension within mankind. The consumption of the fruit symbolizes the acquirement of a wealth of moral knowledge for Adam and Eve and the recognition of their individual obligations in human ... Gatesman, J.D. 201710 MAN 3240 02Z 11960 Organizational Behavior March 5, 2017 Ethical Behavior in Law Enforcement, Checks and Balances Introduction For the past few years, law enforcement in this country has dominated the news. Unfortunately, this has been mostly in a negative light (e.g., Ferguson, Missouri; Black Lives Matter; etc...). The purpose of this analysis is not to litigate those issues, rather to address how the police enforce ethical behavior within their ranks and how the rights of the police are protected. The focus on this case study analysis will be on a local law enforcement agency. That agency is the Brevard County Sheriff s Office (BCSO). BCSO employs over 1,000 personnel, including ... Disadvantages of online banking include the amount of time it takes to create and authorize your account. It is certainly not convenient, but I would not call it a disadvantage. The learning curve is listed as a disadvantage. Online banking sites can be very difficult to navigate, especially for new users. Finally, and probably the most obvious, is the issue of trust you have in your online banking facility. How secure is the transmission of my private information? How can I be sure the transaction went through? Who else will have access to my information? This trust issue and skepticism of security is by far the biggest concern of potential online banking consumers. The Ponemon Institute is dedicated to studying ethical information management practices and research. The institute conducted a survey this year entitled Privacy Trust Survey for Online Banking with 2,300 participants. In the institute s research, it is found that eighty two percent of banking consumers say identity theft is their main concern. • 8. Analysis Of The Poem Happy Valley The Hyperthymestic Storyteller Outside of the desk, however, is the rest of the house, the living place of both the owner of the camera, and the camera itself. It s a two story house, with 2,986 square feet of area, and a property of a quarter acre. In a greater context, the house is located in Happy Valley, a suburb southeast of Portland, Oregon. A quick tour around the house shows many objects that describe the people who live in the house: family pictures, a piano and three violins, three cars, and Bible verses on the walls. Happy Valley is one of the wealthier suburbs in all of Portland, with a median salary higher than West Linn or Lake Oswego: the presence of three cars further exemplifies this. In such a wealthy community, having a quarter acre house indicates that the owners of this house must be at least lower middle class or middle class. The presence of the piano and violins, as well as some paintings on the wall, shows an interest in arts, and with an entire bookcase of CDs, especially music. Looking at the pictures on the refrigerator, it is clear that this is a family of four, with two boys. Finally, the presence of Bibles around the house, as well as Bible verses hung on the walls are a testament to the Christian beliefs of this family. This unassuming suburban home in America demonstrates many characteristics of the previous society. Christianity is traditionally a western religion with its roots in Western Europe. The Second Coming published in 1919 explores how chaos and destruction was the cause of Yeats uncertainty of the worlds ability to become stable and peaceful. Easter 1916 published in 1921 highlights how through manipulating form Yeats can communicate his uncertainty of the Rebels violence. • 12. My Family Experience This experience has been emotionally demanding for me and a bit awkward. First off, immediate family speaking, we have an implicit norm of not offending people by criticism their actions but also, it s weird to compliment people on their behaviour. We stick to thank you , I appreciate what you did and when there is a behaviour we find annoying we don t say a word. As for my big family, in which I include my immediate family (mom and brother), my boyfriend and my local church, we are allowed to give compliment and to share emotions with one another. With this context being placed, it was easier to compliment my church sister C and my boyfriend because we had this pre establish norm of it s acceptable to compliment and receive compliment and criticisms but a bit harder to throw the first one at my mom. The easiest appreciation to give was to my boyfriend, I have even say it twice. I believe it s because. We have a turning toward response to each other s bids (Gottman DeClaire, 2001) it makes it easier for us to compliment each other and even criticize politely one another. The hardest I would say was the first one that I gave to my mom, it felt like an ice breaker. I perceived it as breaking an implicit norm or rule we had for many years. As I have recorded, in the table above, the impressions I had from the three compliments /appreciations to my mother were each different, in her verbal response as well as my interpretations. • 13. Rural Beggars In The Ballet Class By Edgar Degas are going onto the field after the harvest and picking up the leftovers of corn. They are a type of rural beggars in an old traditional way. At the distance grain stack are seen piled up and the people who harvested them are bent over exhausted after harvesting all the crops. Large bundles of grain are visible in the background. In the foreground the three women are seen working almost in a solitary manner, collecting the leftovers to feed their families. On close observation it is seen that they have a white cloth tied around their hips which looks a bit heavy indicating they have been collecting these leftovers for a while. Yet this amount is very small compared to the enormous harvest in the background. A man sitting on a horse can be seen in the background which looks like he is supervising the work done by the harvesters. He pays no attention to these three women at all. Even though these women are some kind of beggars they still appear strong and well fed. The colour used on the women is contrasting to the background. They are bent and hence and below the horizon line. Their bent over round shape somehow blends and adds a rhythm to the piles of harvest in the background. • 14. Weak Figurative Language AJR s song Weak ,addresses the struggles of battling temptations and coming to terms with them. The song portrays a young man fighting to gain control over his habits, but inability giving in, convincing himself there s nothing wrong with being weak. Consequently the speaker begins to associate love and joy to submitting to his temptations. Weak makes use of many types of figurative language to convey this theme of giving in to temptations. Although there are many examples of figurative language the most prevalent forms are metaphors and similes. The speaker states: But temptations of trouble on my tongue, troubles yet to come ( 2 ). This metaphor comparing trouble to being on the end of his tongue is used to represent how temptations are surrounding the speaker, and how he is growing closer to falling for them. This quote plays a major role in the construction of the theme by introducing the reader to the influences the speaker is attempting to resist. This series of lines reveals the speaker s awareness of his addictive personality and trying to prevent addiction but he ultimately fails. The Final example of refrain is when the speaker writes: I m weak/ But I m weak, and what s wrong with that? ( 13 14 ). The repetition of these two lines throughout the song play a major part in depicting the speaker going back and forth trying to convince himself it s ok to be weak in order to coax with his bad deeds. The Piano Suites Diary Rodion Shchedrin Summary The piano suites Diary composed by Rodion Shchedrin who is one of the most well known contemporary composers and pianists in Russia, Shchedrin combines elements of Russian folklore styles, baroque inspired polyphony and pantonality techniques. The combination of compositional techniques has created a new musical language, present in his pianocompositions, fusing traditional Western compositional techniques with Russian folk musical styles. I used the score from the German publisher Schott Music. Diary, which is a set of seven compositions. This work was written for pianist Anna Gourari. The first performance was in Moscow on December 5, 2002. I found one commercial CD containing this suite, recorded by Ekaterina Mechetina, in album Schedrin Shakhidi , available on Spotify for reference. As composer suggested that it is possible to perform each piece separately, and he also mentioned attacca at each end of the movements. In this suite, Shchedrin developed a compositional technique that reintroduced the pitches of a single motive continuously throughout one movement, with rests as space between phrases. This piano suite, as one of the Shchedrin s influential present piano works, features a combination of performance elements and is attractive for both concert artists and young age students. This repertoire ranges in medium difficulty and is filled with elements of dance, folk music, traditional and non traditional harmonies. The use of contrasting textures and imaginative ... The community of Broome before the advent of World War II in The Divine Wind at first appears to be an idyllic town in which Malays, Koepangers, Japanese, Manilamen and Australians all work in relative harmony in search of the elusive pearl. Hartley Penrose, the central narrator of the novel, seems to enjoy describing the tropical existence of Broome and its harmony: mangoes and barramundi on the table , the half dozen languages, the slap of sandals and bare feet. This type of cancer can also form on moles beginning no cancerous at first and later forming cancerous cells. Melanomas can form anywhere on the skin but are most common found to start on the chest or back areas. Melanoma is more dangerous than the squamous and basal cell skin cancer because it is more likely to spread to other areas of the body. The last type of skin cancer is called Merkle cell skin cancer. Merkel cells are thought to be a type of neuroendocrine because they most likely share features with nerve cells and also, hormone cells. At the beginning of the film, Nash arrives at Princeton University as a co recipient of the prestigious Carnegie Scholarship for mathematics. Nash is an arrogant, socially awkward graduate student, who devotes most of his time trying to discover a revolutionary equation in mathematics. About halfway through the film, we discover that a certain number of people and events that occur are actually hallucinations and delusions created within Nash s mind. At this point, it becomes apparent to the audience that Nash is suffering from a severe mental disorder. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, ... He acts out this internal struggle with a physical and verbal confrontation against Charles (however in reality, Charles does not exist and therefore Nash is fighting with himself). Charles provokes Nash to kill himself, telling him to go on, bust your head, kill yourself... which demonstrates that Nash is having suicidal thoughts. His behavior also includes diminished impulse control as he throws a desk out the window of his dorm room. Nash attributes these thoughts and actions to Charles rather than himself since he believes Charles is a real person. John Nash suffers from paranoid schizophrenia and the most prominent symptom of paranoid schizophrenia is absurd or suspicious ideas and beliefs (Smith Segal, 2013). Over the course of the film, Nash demonstrates these symptoms. The ideas of delusions of persecution are the most frequent beliefs thought of by the individual and typically revolve around a centralized theme that remains consistent over time (Smith Segal, 2013). People with paranoid schizophrenia tend to have mistaken beliefs that one or more persons are plotting against them and putting their loved ones in harm s way (Berger, 2012). With this condition, they end up spending a lot of time thinking about how to protect themselves from the person or people they believe are trying to hurt them (Berger, 2012). • 39. Mrs Dalloway Bipolar Disorder Essay A superficial interpretation might claim that the conspicuous fluctuating of feelings in Mrs. Dalloway indicates bipolar disorder, especially since the most extreme example of this condition is warren smith the shell shocked world war I veteran whose insanity, disastrous search for medical treatment, eventual suicide occupy part of the novel. Once Woolf chose to combine the two separate stories, with the loss of unity this would imply, she must dramatize the split in structure and make a virtue out of it. The contrast between the minds of Clarissa and Septimus is but one way; another is the split within the characters themselves. Septimus is a schizophrenic, in the common (although not the medical) view, a split personality; and he alternates between normal and abnormal behavior. Clarissa is divided in another way; she is born under Gemini, the sign of the twins, indicated by Woolf s mention that she had just broken into her fifty second year With this Gemini or twin motif, Woolf was able to accomplish several things: achieve a balance between the two characters and story lines which fall into place as twin stories and use the motif as a basis for a complicated network of ... The Musical Goerges SeuratВґs Life Essay During the time an artist is working on his/her product, there are several issues that may come up to either hinder or advance the progress he/she makes. This prompts an artist to either make a balancing act, or to sacrifice one aspect of his life for another. Additionally, some artists are inspired by personal experiences in their private and professional life to write a particular piece of work. A classic example is Georges Seurat s life where he could not afford to accord his mistress the attention she sought from him to the point where she had to leave him and marry another man. From observing this development in Gustave Flaubert s work, one can clearly see that the events in the writer s personal life influenced his choice of story about Emma Bovary (Dudley, 2010). It is also noteworthy to mention that Gustave s father wanted Gustave to become a doctor, something that Gustave was against. Therefore, it is possible that he saw a reflection of how his life could have turned out had he followed in the footsteps of his father. In Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf , the author used some of the lead character s life story to reflect her own personal story. Such an example is shown by the fact that the female characters in the novel are hinted as to be engaging in lesbian affairs and later in her life Virginia Woolf had a lesbian relationship with Vita Sackville West. This is an indicator of the fact that while certain artists may write for pure entertainment and information, there are some who choose to write about their real life accounts. When penning the play Hamlet, Shakespeare was experiencing a personal loss that involved his own son Hamnet, who was only 11 years when he died (Dudley, 2010). The authors of the article support nurse led PICC insertion due to increased patient satisfaction with nurses over internal radiologists and decreased costs when compared to internal radiologists. Patients favored nurses over internal radiologists due to their satisfaction with the nurses explanation of treatment prior to PICC insertion. The study also revealed that nurse led PICC insertion was more cost effective when compared to internal radiologists, since internal radiologists require the use of costly operating theatres and X ray screening. Infection rate and dislodge rate were also found higher in internal radiologists than nurses (Walker Todd, 2013, p. S14).
