General Social Survey Essay
Starting in 1972, the General Social Survey (GSS) used a four category response scale for
respondents to answer a question on how they view their own health, known as the self reported
health question (SRH) (Smith 2005, 1). The four categories used were: poor, fair, good, and
excellent (Smith et al. 2017, 385) Starting in 2002, the GSS started using both a four and five
category scale for people to respond to the SRH (Smith et al. 2017,1537). The five category scale
used the same measures from the four category scale, but also included very good as the fifth
option. The question is: which response category form gives a better ability to determine SRH
among people? To analyze this, I will use some of the same methods that Tom Smith did... Show

After that, I will also use a table of correlation coefficients and look to see if there is a substantial
difference between the two sets of coefficients. The variables I will be using are years of education,
self reported social class, and self reported happiness to check the correlation coefficients (details
about these questions are available in Appendix A) I chose these variables because each of them
have an effect on how people perceive their own health. For education, it is believed that the
more educated a person is, the better the health respondents report (Borgonovi and Pokropek
2016:11). For social class, it is believed that the higher social class a person is in, the better the
health the person believes to be in (Borrell et al. 2016:1883). Lastly, the happier a person is, the
better health they perceive to have (Pressman Cohen 2005:963). All in all, in order for me to
determine which category scale is better , I will determine that on two criteria: if the comparison
between the two different category scales has the same results as Smith and if any of the
coefficients are substantially different from either the four or five category scale.
Data
The data I will use comes from the 2010 implementation of the GSS. The GSS is a project of the
independent research organization National Opinion Research Center (NORC) at the university of

Manila amendments to the STCW Convention – as an IMO...
Fatigue is still considered as a significant contributory factor to many incidents in the shipping
industry despite of legislation concerning seafarers hours of work and rest that has been in force
for many years; overall enforcement measures have generally been ineffective. (OCIMF, 2012).
IMO describes fatigue as a State of feeling tired, weary, or sleepy that results from prolonged
mental or physical work, exposure to harsh environment, or loss of sleep which can lead to the
impairment of performance and to the reduction of alertness (IMO, 2001). To provide a legal
framework and address the problem of fatigue on the high level number of conventions have been

Moreover, in a real life it creates problems with proper understanding of approach for calculation

not least, existing form of record keeping of hours of work and rest creates a lot of paper work
for the crew and Ship managers and take of their times that could be spend for more important
issues. In the meantime, the fatigue prevention policy cannot be ideal since measurement of
fatigue is extremely difficult due to the large variability of causes. In accordance with Guidance
on Fatigue Mitigation and Management there are many ways to categorize the causes of fatigue.
To ensure thoroughness and to provide good coverage of most causes, they have been
categorized into 4 general factors: Crew specific Factors; Management Factors (ashore and aboard
ship); Ship specific Factors; Environmental Factors. Even if all of these factors can be considered
with the same weighting coefficient in determination of level of fatigue, the most important factors
will be still related to the crew specific factors such as Sleep and Rest, Quality, Quantity and

The Negative Speech On Intelligence
75% I kill for a living. I know, the government knows it, but the majority of the community doesn
t. Intelligence is what my community strives to be the best all. Children, from birth, are raised
to be the smartest, the best of the best, to be good enough to stay. After years of drilling, shaping,
preparing, children who turn 17 by the September 13 of that year take an exam, which tests their
mental capacity. If the testee receives below a 75%, they are removed from the community . The
common citizens were told that testees with low scores were put into a community, one that
doesn t exist, that better suits their qualities. By law, my daughter, Ella, is required to take the
test. Ella received a 67.5%, meaning she didn t pass. Today, September 14, I remove the children
that did not pass. The teenagers enter my baren lab, decorated only with a large desk, covered in
syringes. There were 19 of them, Ella included, standing shoulder to shoulder in my undecorated
lab with stiff, unchanging, neutral expressions. Today, we will commence the first of the four
days that will be used to assign each of you to a different community. For the entirety of the
examination, you will be in this building. Because the citizens staying will be receiving their
monthly immunity vaccination after the four days and the other communities aren t as advanced
in medical as us, I will be giving you your vaccine today. Saying this has always made

Study Of The Navy Leaders Guide Mobile Application
Summary
The Benchmarking Quarterly Report provides the results of the Technology Enhancement Center s
(TEC) most recent benchmark study that evaluates the user experience and usability of T2
products. This report reviews the benchmark study of the Navy Leaders Guide mobile application.
During the 3rd quarter of 2015, TEC conducted a pilot benchmark study comprised of attitudinal
and behavioral methods used to evaluate user satisfaction and performance of the Navy Leaders
Guide mobile application. Although 15 elected to participate in the study, only 10 participants
completed the full evaluation consisting of the Questionnaire for User Interaction Satisfaction
(QUIS) (Chin, et al 1988) and a think aloud task analysis (Ericsson, et al 1980).
Based on data provided solely by the QUIS, the overall mean is 7.75 (Very Good).
Introduction
TEC benchmark studies measure the current user experience and usability of T2 and T2/VA co
branded products such as Navy Leaders Guide and AfterDeployment.org to provide a baseline
against similar products and/or future T2 product versions. Benchmarking against similar products
is useful for identifying the strengths and weakness in user experience and usability for future
growth, and benchmarking earlier versions against newer versions of a product shows user
experience and usability improvement over time.
This benchmark study was a pilot designed to evaluate the T2/VA co branded product Navy
Leaders Guide using attitudinal and behavioral

Playing My Best Game Of My Life
Goodish, Badish Basketball
The day I played my best. It was in the morning we had to get up to go to are basketball games.
Like all morning I was slow and then I played the best game of my life so far. It was a hard game
one of the hardest game ever, no it was the hardest game ever. I know what you re thinking, the
team played so well together that it was the best they ever played with each other. Even the shy
people scored it was great. The score was unbelievable 200 points to 0. But we actually lost 89 to
58. Yeah I knew, how did I play the best. If we didn t even win and are team wasn t playing
together like we always do. Maybe it was because they just wanted the ball or maybe they were
just scared. It was the last game before the finals. I always go in thinking that we are going to lose.
So I don t feel mad or disappointed if we lose. It also helps me play harder. But this time I was
sure we were gonna lose. They were two times the size of me. They were like trees towering over
me. Even their smallest girl was taller than our tallest girl. But they were in our division. We ve
never even seen them play before, but we knew they were good. They were all wearing orange
pixel shorts. We were joking that they were pooping out pixels. Then we headed in for warm up s
the crowd was cheering, but then the other team comes in and it went crazy. As we were doing leg
up lines they were shooting three s and making all of them. But they were slow and that s where

Edward Richer Essay
Gerhard Richer (1932~) is a German artist who is unique for not conforming to a particular
movement or having his own artistic style. However, his works have been influenced by many art
movements and styles, including Abstract Expressionism, Pop art, Minimalism, and
Conceptualism. He was trained to paint a traditional realist art style in early years under the
oppressive East German communist regime, banned from exposure to American Pop art and other
contemporary art (1). Thus he often explored figurative expression or representation of subjects,
until his exposure to abstract art in West Germany introduced him to an approach to art that was
much more expressive of life and its realities (1). He first started drawing landscapes in the late...

There are a couple of elements that set his painting apart from Friedrich s; that it has a surrealist
element, and that Richter values the characteristics of modern art, meaning that the artwork
does not focus on how to most imitate a subject most faithfully ( realistically ) but to capture the
essence of it. The surrealist element in particular is significant when placed side by side with
the traditional style of landscape painting, because his choice not to completely disassociate it
with the orthodox is what allows it to emphasize the surreality of the piece (4). It is also set apart
from romantic paintings by nature s indifference . The artwork has a lack of sympathy for the
viewer s search for something to relate or connect to in the painting which links to its function and
purpose. Sea Sea is are particularly significant work for being a sort of stepping stone for Richter.
On one hand, we see how his background of being trained to paint in a traditionalist realistic
painting style has influenced his photorealistic style, but on the other, his desire to move into a
more expressive form of art as the discomfiting element and the inhuman detachment of Sea Sea

Decline And Rise Of Traditional Medicine
The Decline and Rise of Traditional Medicine
In his book The Inconvenient Indian, Thomas King makes reference to the greatly reduced
populations of the indigenous population caused by the arrival of western diseases. In this essay I
intend to explore the ways in which the trajectory of the first nation s community was forever
changed not just by the effects of land appropriation but also by other side effects of colonisation. I
want to review how the traditional methods of health care, which had serviced the indigenous
population for centuries, were challenged by the onslaught of new diseases and later pushed
underground by the government s assimilation attempts and how they have survived these
challenges to meet the needs of modern day indigenous Canadians.
In an early copy of The Scientific Monthly, Dr. Hrdlicka of the Smithsonian Institute, was quoted
as saying that before its discovery by Columbus, America was one of the most healthful of
continents, if not the most so. This health status could be attributed to the lifestyle of the
indigenous people, their food varying according to the locality where they lived, was meat, fish,
vegetables (often eaten raw), nuts, seeds and fruits. Few areas had all these possibilities but, since
Indians ate every part of an animal and every edible plant in their locality, they came close an
optimal diet. Traditional healers or medicine men as they became known to non indigenous people
were an integral part of the indigenous

The common denominator in the treatment of all of these conditions is antidepressant medications.
The first classification of drugs that doctors usually use are SSRIs, or selective serotonin reuptake
inhibitor. The way they work is not completely known, but it is thought that they limit the
reabsorption of serotonin into the presynaptic cell which increases the extracellular level of the
serotonin. They are used for symptoms of moderate to severe depression, but are shown to be more
effective in more severe cases. They are also known to have fewer side effects than other
classifications of antidepressants. The list includes fatigue, dry mouth,... Show more content on

Manners Customs
Manners represent an individual by the way they dress, behave, communicate, and their
etiquette, while customs refer to the traditional way that a culture is practice individually, or by
a group of people. Workers are expected to bow to their seniors when they greet them, and to use
only formal language to their seniors, as it is rude to speak informally to someone of higher
rank. In Korean businesses, meetings are often held in evenings at a restaurant or bar. Drinking is
part of the Korean culture, as Koreans believe that drinking helps to bond colleagues in the
company, and an offered drink must never be refused as it is considered to be rude. Along with
drinking, Karaoke is a popular activity after meetings. People who attend the meeting are usually
expected to sing a solo song.
Personal Communication
In South Korea, the Korean language is the most frequently used language and the Koreans use
Hangul as the main writing system. Quoted from kwintessential.co.uk, The Korean language is
spoken by more than 65 million people living on the peninsula and its outlying islands as well as
5.5 million Koreans living in other parts of the world. The fact that all Koreans speak and write the
same language has been a crucial factor in their strong national identity. In the present time, Korea
boasts many dialects, including the standard dialect used in Seoul and central areas. Even

Keda s Sap Implementation Process
Keda s SAP Implementation is the restructuring that the company needed to go through to expand
and be more productive with the products they were creating. At first the company had a lot of
problems with keeping track of inventory and how much a product cost to be made. The system
they had could not keep up with the growth of the company. They needed a new system or they
would continue to lose money fast. To start off they looked at where the system that they had went
wrong. It was that fact that the system didn t cover multi product production. This was killing them
in the long run so they decided they needed a change. They looked at 20 different management
systems and had them all come in to present their product. Keda also had them give reverences that
proved that the product worked. Keda used this as a learningopportunity to figure out what work
and didn t with other companies. They wanted a system that was customizable to their products and
the system that they wanted. There were nine systems that could work for their company they
decided on SAP as the winner. They then start to work their way through the system so that it
would work with ever department so everyone knew what their job was and who they needto work
with to do it. They created a management structure for each department, they then invited those
heads to work with the IT department to make the system able to talk between each department.
The manager didn t like this at first because they had to work

The Significant Roles Of Citizen Journalism And The Role...
When it comes to journalism, citizen journalism is not any different from what democracy is
when it comes to politics and civic life. It allows for the active participation of the citizens in news
gathering and reporting. The advancements that have taken place in the field of technology have
enabled people to gain an opportunity to become producers of content that they used to be
consumers of in the past through the mainstream media. Today, everyone has an opportunity to
become a citizen journalist (Allan and Einar 76). There is an array of social media platforms and
accounts whose key role is to disseminate information to the public, especially in cases where
individuals may feel that conventional journalismwould want to shield the public from some
information. Citizen journalists employ an extensive range of methods in the generation and
dissemination of information. Much of these are driven by the advancements that have taken place
in the field of technology and the forms of communication available to the public. These include
the internet, the mobile phone, and the different camera gadgets which can all be employed in the
gathering and sharing of information (DeMers, 89). One of the significant roles that citizen
journalism could play in the society would be to fill the gap that is often left by traditional media
as they try to play their role as the protector of public interest. The internet provides the technical
means, while the citizens play the active

Things Fall Apart Olunde
Like Okonkwo, Olunde stands alone. He acts alone, and no one can tell him what to do. He prides
himself in his accomplishments, but ultimately he recognizes that his education was not his shining
achievement. He understands that that education and the degree comes at a price. But even
Olunde, like Okonkwo, has a sense of tradition and heritage and cultural obligation which grounds
him. Like Okonkwo fulfilling the oracle s prophecy to kill Ikemefuna, Olunde must return to the

The same can be said for Olunde, although the Pilkingses attempts to clear his mind are

This is why he cannot integrate; this is why Jane Pilkings scolds him; this is why the aide de
camp calls him such horrible names. He cannot be civilized. No one can. Because the whole
system of civilization is impossible. Europeans try to impose white ways on Black people, to rid
them of their cultures, but even when all of this is achieved, you have somebody like Olunde

Peter Singer Animal Liberation Essay
This argument: that rational beings must be considered ends in themselves, was the lifeblood of the
movements of the 1970s that sought to bring oppressed groups under the umbrella of equal moral
consideration. These prolonged and often violent debates revolved around demands for equality
through which oppressed groups could attain their liberation. As such it is not surprising that the
movement for animal liberation stems from these concerns. In fact, they are explicitly allied with
them. Peter Singer s seminal text Animal liberation is deliberately called so to evoke memories of
the fortitude and determination of these earlier movements for humanliberation. Singer emphasises
rationality and self consciousness of some animals as evidence... Show more content on

to the banana, he would probably have looked at it from time. Chimps are very quick to notice and

Often when one observes the behaviour of non human animals and concludes that it is likely that
they are going through some thought process that is unlikely to be dissimilar to our own, it is

human animals display particular characteristics that place them under the category of personhood.

Rumble Fish Analysis
What is young adult literature? Essentially, young adult literature is any type of book that a
teenager or young adult chooses to read. The term adolescence novel is driven by the audience
because publishers are going to produce novels that tend to these needs. This leaves the category
very broad for authors to write. Authors believe that young adult literature tends to have a young
protagonist who deals with problems other young people would have to deal with. S.E. Hinton is a
master of her trade and has wrote many phenomenal novels including, The Outsiders and Rumble

Outsiders was first published, Hinton was an unknown writer and so was her novel. No one had
ever seen a book written the way it was. Hinton wrote it because she felt that all the books

Past Influences that Marked Brazils Contemporary Society
This paper analyzes aspects of Brazil s colonial history that has influenced contemporary societies. It
also describes and critiques measures that have recently been implemented by the Brazilian
government in attempt to curb the further deterioration of society.
In Brazil s society, neoliberal and capitalist beliefs within the social structure have hindered
democratic politics. Diverse social groups are unable to come together and exert their political
power as a united front, instead, the neoliberal belief of market power replacing citizenship power
stratified the population based on capital. What all people of Brazil have in common is their
citizenship and under the constitution, each citizen is entitled to equal access in the political
realm. Brazil attempts to achieve this by requiring everyone to cast an opinion in the form of a
vote. Citizenship has provided common ground and an articulatory principle for an immense
diversity of social movements that have adopted the language of right as a way of expressing
their demands and because of this, citizenship is a crucial weapon not only in the struggle against
social and economic exclusion and disparity but also in the broadening of dominant conceptions of
politics. [1] This paper will argue that the economic and social inequalities faced by many inferior
populations in Brazil are an effect of the neoliberal concept of citizenship. By the neoliberal concept
of citizenship it is meant that citizenship began to be

Sex and Dementia. Should People with Dementia Be Able To Consent To Having Sex With Their
Loved Ones?
A big controversy that people around the world argue is whether a person with a mental disability
such as, dementia, should continue to have sexual relationships with their lover. Dementia is ...a
chronic or persistent disorder of the mental processes caused by brain disease or injury and
marked by memory disorders, personality disorders, and impaired reasoning (Google search,
dementia definition). In my opinion, I don t think people with dementia should be having sex
because of the many consequences this can cause to a relationship or a person such as, the loss of
memory, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That would be taking advantage of that person and will also be rape (Ina Jaffe, Can a person with
dementia consent to sex). On top of all that, the person just, gets away with it with no problems at
all and nothing to stop that freak since the person with dementia had no signs of resistance or
anything... Another thing, I don t think institutions where it is allowed/encouraged to have sex
should be allowed. What if that person has a loved one(s) at home that STILL HAVE A
RELATIONSHIP GOING!?!? I understand that intimacy with a person when someone has
Dementia can help with the mental disorder, but I just don t think that it seems fair to his/her son
/daughter(s) or husband/wife at home who wait all day and night to hear or worries from that
person(Dr. Pepper Schwartz, What are our rights when we re not ourselves any more?). I
understand how some people may think that humans with Dementia should be able to consent to
having sex, but think of it as if, a person is using another person because of their disability. An
example of this: So Tom (Husband)and Jackie(Wife who has dementia) live in the same house,
right next to them lives Jerry who just moved in and looks like Tom. Tom went out of town for
the week and trusted Jerry to take care of her, so Jerry goes check up on her and Jackie forgets
that her husband is gone for the week. Knowing that she had that mental disorder, Jerry took
advantage of her and got away with it without a trace... (A more simple metaphor/A more

They hang out together for a bit until she runs out of candy to give to the boy, then he sees a girl
with chocolate chip cookies, so

Pascal s Wager Argument Analysis
According to Pascal, one cannot come to the knowledge of God s existence through reason alone,
so he suggests that the wise thing to do is to live your life as if God does exist. The reasoning
behind this is that, a life like that has everything to gain and nothing to lose. He believes that, if we
live as though godexist, and God does indeed exists, we will have infinite happiness(heaven).
Even if the God doesn t exist at the end, we have not lost anything. Pascal then states, if we live
as though God doesn t exist and God really does exist, we will be in infinite torment (hell and
punishments). If we weigh the two options, it is quite clear that the obvious choice would be to
live as if the God exists. He essentially concludes that the potential benefits of believing in God
outweigh the potential of not believing in God. There are many objections to this argument and
the one of the famous one is, we cannot force ourselves to believe in God. This argument denies
the Pascal s Wager, because believing in God isn t something we chose, and a person cannot make
himself/herself to believe in God if he/she doesn t. This objection... Show more content on

I do understand the argument that was made by Pascal and agree to some certain extent, but his
initial suggestion is to live as if we believe in God . We as humans cannot simply decide to
believe in something through an act of will. Instead, in order for one to believe that something
is true, one needs an evidence for its truth. Pascal only asks us to believe in God with no
evidence that such belief would be true. Therefore he asks us to believe without a reason, which
shows that the argument he makes is quite weak. For example: If a person offers another person 2
million dollars for believing that the sky is red. Can that person sincerely belief in such a thing by
simply just wishing to? Clearly

Prosecution Intimidation And Witness Intimidation
There are many reasons victims do no want to testify in court. Legal cynicism and witness
intimidation are a couple of the top reasons. One reason I feel is overlooked is witness
intimidation. Witness Intimidation is when threats are made by defendants to discourage victims or
witnesses of a crime from reporting or testifying. (Connick and Davis 439) If a victimfeels
threatened, they often become hesitant to testify sometimes even to report the crime. With the right
incentives, victims and witnesses would be more likely to participate in the process of testifying
against a defendant.
Witness intimidation happens in many forms, such as: looks, threats of violence, physical violence,
property damage, etc. If you commit a crime, you will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These programs are still new in the eyes of the justice system. Victims and witnesses receiving help
were more likely to appear when summoned than those who had not been aided. (Neubauer and
Fradella 236) Victims who are testifying against a defendant are authorized to receive protection,
whether inside or outside of court.
There are services provided to protect the victims or witnesses. When waiting in the courtroom,
they are entitled to a special waiting room, away and out of sight from the defendant and the
defendant s friends and family. By separating the defendant from the victims and witnesses, it
lessens the change of intimidation within the courtroom. Even victims and witnesses that are
incarcerated have the option and availability to be separated from others to keep them safe. By
separating from certain groups, gangs are not able to finish hits on a victim or witness.
Another way to keep a victim or witness in testifying is ensuring that everyone coming in and out of
the courthouse will be on video surveillance. By taping everyone coming into the courthouse,
hopefully it would discourage any intimidation within the courthouse. Also by having surveillance,
it would give the victims and witnesses a sense of security, knowing that anybody coming near
them in the courthouse is on camera.
One program to motivate victims to participate in testifying helps with compensating the victims or
witnesses. During the process of the trial and even before when

How Did Lord Cromer Respond To The British Occupation Of...
In the village of Musha in the province of upper Egypt in 1906 to the father of Hajji Ibrahim Qutb,
a prominent farmer Sayyid Qutb was born. During this time in Egypt, the British were present and
being obnoxiously dominant in their attitude and in their understanding to the rights of their
presence. In 1882, when the British took occupation of Egypt, there had already been a well
developed sense of nationalism throughout the Egyptian country. British Lord Cromer took
responsibility for economic reforms, that did help to overcome existing debt of Egypt, but
resulted in making the rich, richer and the poor poorer. Those who mainly benefited from these
reforms were the upper and upper middle classes. At the upper class level, there was a benefit
from the British presence do to the capital that was brought in and shared, however the remainder
of the Egyptian population refused to accept British style reforms and resisted the British
occupation. This resistance to the British occupation resulted in newspapers raising the
nationalistic emotional ideologies of the lower and middle class into a hatred of foreigners.
Newspapers during this time in 1906 were claiming that the British were taking away jobs for the
educated Egyptians and taking away their sovereign rights and ownership of their country. A
significant event took place in Denshawai Egypt a few months before and in the same year that
Sayyid Qutbwas born. British soldiers in Denshawai were looking for an activity to keep

Why French Parents Are Superior By Pamela Duckerman
Parenting one of the most important and rewarding task for a human being according to almost
every person that has experienced the excitement and joy of having a child, I put in quotations the
joy and excitement because it s not in reality always like that. Definitely everyone has their own
style and liberty to educate their children however they feel will make their children acceptable to
society. There are millions of different parentingstyles in the U.S., now let s imagine the billions of

Meal manners are really different in France, American toddlers simply don t know how wait,
Pamela considers that the key of French education is the simple act of learning how to wait
(Druckerman, 2012). For French parents is extremely important to let their children be happy with
their self, not depending on others attention (Druckerman, 2012), meanwhile American parents don
t consider this as a must learn task to the education of their children. Pamela mentions the
marshmallow test created by Walter Mischel where he tested the patience of four and five years
old, he placed a marshmallow on the table and leaved the toddlers unattended, they had the option
to eat the marshmallow right away or wait and get two, he found out that toddlers could only wait
30 seconds and only a few waited 15 minutes (Druckerman , 2012). Why is this relevant to
Druckerman s observation of French toddlers? Simply, because they know how to wait, they know
how to distract themselves, they would be part of the toddlers that waited the 15 full minutes
because they know how to wait (Druckerman ,

Should The Herdmans Be Allowed In Christmas Pageants
The Herdmans were absolutely the worst kids in the history of the world. They lied and stole
and smoked cigars (even the girls) and talked dirty and hit little kids and cussed their teachers
and took the name of the Lord in vain and set fire to Fred Shoemaker s old broken down toll
house. ( The Best Christmas Pageant Ever) Because the Herdmans had all this sin in their life,
they needed to learn about God so they could be forgiven and go to heaven. The pageant was the
perfect way for this to happen. One year, during a Churches preparation for the annual Christmas
pageant, the Herdmans volunteered to be the main roles in the pageant. No one wanted the
Herdmans in the play because they were five kids who wreaked havoc, and everyone was afraid
they would ruin the pageant, but the Herdmans wanted to be in the pageant. So the church let them

Naturalized Citizen Clause Pros And Cons
Argument Paper: The Naturalization Clause Controversy The United States is a nation built on
independence and freedom. This freedom, established through the constitution, allows American
citizens to be able to participate in their government. The same constitution also restricts freedom of
some Americans however. The naturalization clause amended to the constitution in 1790, forbids
naturalized citizens from becoming president. Many naturalized citizens have lived in America for
most of their lives and contribute to society just as much as a natural born citizen does. The
naturalized clause of 1790 should be removed from the constitution so that naturalized citizens also
have a chance to run for the presidency. To be able to understand the controversy surrounding the
natural born citizen clause in the constitution, it is important to know why it was added to the
constitution in the first place. The original purpose of this clause was to prevent the British rule
from coming to America and taking charge (Hulse). The National Constitution Center staff quoted
the natural born citizen clause in the constitution saying that no person except a natural born citizen
or a citizen of the United States at the time of the adoption of this constitution shall be eligible to
the office of president ( Natural Born ). This clause also allows children that are offspring of United
States citizens that are born internationally to obtain citizenship ( Natural Born ). At the time when

The Eistads Research Paper
With six children and four adults spending all day on one confined houseboat, it was less than
peaceful. My family did not know what we were getting ourselves into spending a week with
The Eistads. They were a pleasant group of people, but our families were very different. They
lived in a small town surrounded fields, and The Eistads did not care much for hygiene. Lice were
uncovered on day three, and on day four there was the poop on the wall incident. The Eistads were
a country bunch and did many daily activities differently compared to my family.
Finally, the ciaos had become too much for my mother, Amy Eistad, and me, so we decided to take
the rickety pull behind boat out for an outing and hopefully bring back some dinner. A little
determination from Amy finally got the motor to start, and we crawled around with our lines in the

My mother and I hastily grabbed the buckets, and we started to move the water back where it

Oil And Natural Gas Deep Under The Surface Of The Earth...
Discussion point 1: In order to explore for oil and natural gas deep under the surface of the earth
Chevron uses seismic technology. Oil and Natural gas are mostly found in reservoir rocks. In
order to find the reservoirs Chevron employs seismic technology by sending the sound waves
deep inside the earth and using geophones listening to the bounced back waves. Geophones are
devices, which are used as electronic ears, which records the signal when the sound comes back
from earth. The sound bounced back and signal looks like a squiggle. When numerous squiggles
are placed serially inline. We can see the structures, which have a slice or cross section of the earth.
And after collecting the seismic data geologists, data engineers work on interpreting the seismic
data to find the formations and structures, which holds oil and natural gas reservoirs. And finally
field team will drill the specific locations according to the geologists report. Chevron has 50 percent
success rate in finding the oil and natural gas using seismic technology.

India Is A Land Known For Its Diversity
Introduction:
India is a land known for its diversity with respect to culture, languages, religions and cuisine.
Several dishes in the Indian cuisine find its roots delved deep into tradition and history. Examples
of these indigenous dishes include Paneer, Dahi, Avial and so on.
The dairy industry in India has grown tremendously in recent years post the success of the
Operation Flood Programme. This programme, which began in the 1970 s, was a noteworthy
event globally and the impact of this can be witnessed in the fact of India rising to the status of
being the leading producer of milk in the world. Out of the total milk produced in the country,
nearly 40 50% is converted into a variety of dairy products whose origins lie deeply rooted into
Indian tradition. The processes used to manufacture these products include heat and acid
coagulation, heat desiccation and fermentation. Paneer is one such product which is an indigenous
traditional type of fresh cheese prepared by heat acid coagulation of milk. Coagulation refers to the
formation of large structural protein aggregates where fat in milk and other colloidal and soluble
solids are entrapped with whey. The major protein present in milk that gets coagulated is casein.
Paneer is unsalted and unripened unlike several of its western counterparts such as Roquefort
cheese, Cheddar cheese and so on. It shares a few similarities with Tofu and western cottage cheese.
As with the entire food industry within the country, the

A Study on Professional Learning Communities
Professional Learning Communities
Abstract
PLC means professional learning communities which are set up by teachers in order to help the
students who seem to be lagging behind the others academically. This is a way to reach out to the
students on a more personal level, where they get to interact not only with the books, but also
with the teachers who are able to guide them by recognizing their strengths and their weaknesses.
This form of assistance goes a long way in assisting the student develop a positive attitude towards
studies and have the zeal to excel by having a personal coach present to guide them whenever they
get stuck or make a mistake. This is a very encouraging way of ensuring homogenous learning in
today s academic institutions. The parents of the poorly performing students themselves seem
grateful for the attention given to their young ones, as it is any parent s dream to see their children
excel academically, and at the same time get value for their money.
Introduction
There have been studies carried out on this issue of PLC, as to whether it is functional not only in
theory, but also in practical, especially in a real school setting. For this reason, this essay will show
why this document best highlights this issue.
Professional Learning Communities
First of all, this study used a multiple case study in three schools that were below the required
standards and to find out how the theoretical ideas were being implemented in their practical
application.

A Room Of One s Own Analysis
A Room of One s Own is a novel written by Virginia Woolf. In the story, Woolf is arguing that
women need money, privacy, and education to write successfully. Throughout her essay, she
analyzes several different female figures from the past and during her own time to give her
argument leverage. One of these figures is a fictional character named Judith Shakespeare, a sister
to William Shakespeare. Even though Judith is fictional, she is necessary to A Room of One s Own.
The main focus of A Room of One s Own is to demonstrate that women need money, privacy, and
an education to write works of good quality. This is directly stated in the very beginning, All I
could do was to offer you an opinion upon one minor point a woman must have money and a
room of her own if she is to write fiction; (Woolf, A Room of One s Own). Woolf does not believe
that society has changed enough from the 1500s for women to write successfully. In order to prove
her point, she begins the novel by analyzing Judith, a woman who had absolutely no resources.
Judith Shakespeare, unlike famous writers such as Jane Austen, is unable to achieve any of her
dreams because of the circumstances of her life. In order to further the idea that the problem
regarding female writers is lack of resources and not lack of talent, Woolf writes that Judith and
Shakespeare had the same amount of talent, as seen here, She was as adventurous, as imaginative,
as agog to see the world as he [William Shakespeare] was (Woolf, A

United Kingdom, France, Italy, and the United States, on 28th June 1919, in the hall of mirrors,
effectively ending World War One (WW1) after an armistice of seven months . This treaty
established the League of Nations and decided the repercussions that Germanywould have to pay

There were originally plans to include Germany but seeing how the treaty was hastily put together

Germany in negotiations was soon forgotten. This complicated matters since there was not a sense

The War With Mexican American War
The war with Mexico is long remembered as an episode, and by no means is it an unimportant one.
With the events that led up to its happening, from the Manifest Destiny to the disputes on territory,
it has severely marked the United States. American historians regard the Mexican American war as
the foulest blot on our national honor . (sfmuseum.org) Unethical actions were taken gain Mexican
territory. Polk and his hunger for land drove him to find some devious way to fight a war with
Mexico. His belligerent attitude in regard to this war was the foulest blot on our national honor.
However, as one studies the events that led to it, was it an unprovoked act of aggression? Or did
the US unjustifiably lure Mexico into one of the bloodiest wars on American soil?
The O Sullivan article on Manifest Destiny sparked an initial interest amongst the American people.
The idea that it was the United States destiny to expand across the continent became an ardent
hope. America had a strong Christian belief that God had intended this for the country. The need
for more land became vital as an increasing amount of immigrants flocked to the country each

Analysis on Beethoven S Piano Sonata No3, Op 2
Analysis on Beethoven s Piano Sonata No 3, op. 2, Allegro con brio
Composers since the early classical era have used sonata form to express through music ideas which
are at once complex and unified. This form contains a variety of themes and permutations of these
themes, but is brought together into a comprehensible whole when these excerpts reappear.
Beethoven, in the first movement of his Piano Sonata Opus 2 Number 3 utilizes this form to its full
potential, modifying the typical structure in his characteristic way. The sonata begins softly but
with unmistakable energy. The trill like sixteenth notes on the third beat of this motif surge the
piece forward into the next bar. The two bar motif appears again, and is then varied and... Show

The dynamic increases to fortissimo at mm. 73 as the texture thins and harmony becomes very

exposition, the performance moves on to the development with the soft material from the second

begins to modulate. Eight bars later new arpeggiated material enters on a Bb7 chord, beginning a
twelve bar chromatic bass line moving to C# right before measure 109. Here the opening theme
enters, similarly a whole step higher than at the beginning. Hearing the principal theme in the
wrong key is a sure sign of a false recapitulation, and the P theme is

  • 2. General Social Survey Essay Starting in 1972, the General Social Survey (GSS) used a four category response scale for respondents to answer a question on how they view their own health, known as the self reported health question (SRH) (Smith 2005, 1). The four categories used were: poor, fair, good, and excellent (Smith et al. 2017, 385) Starting in 2002, the GSS started using both a four and five category scale for people to respond to the SRH (Smith et al. 2017,1537). The five category scale used the same measures from the four category scale, but also included very good as the fifth option. The question is: which response category form gives a better ability to determine SRH among people? To analyze this, I will use some of the same methods that Tom Smith did... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After that, I will also use a table of correlation coefficients and look to see if there is a substantial difference between the two sets of coefficients. The variables I will be using are years of education, self reported social class, and self reported happiness to check the correlation coefficients (details about these questions are available in Appendix A) I chose these variables because each of them have an effect on how people perceive their own health. For education, it is believed that the more educated a person is, the better the health respondents report (Borgonovi and Pokropek 2016:11). For social class, it is believed that the higher social class a person is in, the better the health the person believes to be in (Borrell et al. 2016:1883). Lastly, the happier a person is, the better health they perceive to have (Pressman Cohen 2005:963). All in all, in order for me to determine which category scale is better , I will determine that on two criteria: if the comparison between the two different category scales has the same results as Smith and if any of the coefficients are substantially different from either the four or five category scale. Data The data I will use comes from the 2010 implementation of the GSS. The GSS is a project of the independent research organization National Opinion Research Center (NORC) at the university of ... Study Of The Navy Leaders Guide Mobile Application Summary The Benchmarking Quarterly Report provides the results of the Technology Enhancement Center s (TEC) most recent benchmark study that evaluates the user experience and usability of T2 products. This report reviews the benchmark study of the Navy Leaders Guide mobile application. During the 3rd quarter of 2015, TEC conducted a pilot benchmark study comprised of attitudinal and behavioral methods used to evaluate user satisfaction and performance of the Navy Leaders Guide mobile application. Although 15 elected to participate in the study, only 10 participants completed the full evaluation consisting of the Questionnaire for User Interaction Satisfaction (QUIS) (Chin, et al 1988) and a think aloud task analysis (Ericsson, et al 1980). Based on data provided solely by the QUIS, the overall mean is 7.75 (Very Good). Introduction TEC benchmark studies measure the current user experience and usability of T2 and T2/VA co branded products such as Navy Leaders Guide and AfterDeployment.org to provide a baseline against similar products and/or future T2 product versions. Benchmarking against similar products is useful for identifying the strengths and weakness in user experience and usability for future growth, and benchmarking earlier versions against newer versions of a product shows user experience and usability improvement over time. However, his works have been influenced by many art movements and styles, including Abstract Expressionism, Pop art, Minimalism, and Conceptualism. He was trained to paint a traditional realist art style in early years under the oppressive East German communist regime, banned from exposure to American Pop art and other contemporary art (1). Thus he often explored figurative expression or representation of subjects, until his exposure to abstract art in West Germany introduced him to an approach to art that was much more expressive of life and its realities (1). The surrealist element in particular is significant when placed side by side with the traditional style of landscape painting, because his choice not to completely disassociate it with the orthodox is what allows it to emphasize the surreality of the piece (4). It is also set apart from romantic paintings by nature s indifference . The artwork has a lack of sympathy for the viewer s search for something to relate or connect to in the painting which links to its function and purpose. • 8. Decline And Rise Of Traditional Medicine The Decline and Rise of Traditional Medicine In his book The Inconvenient Indian, Thomas King makes reference to the greatly reduced populations of the indigenous population caused by the arrival of western diseases. In this essay I intend to explore the ways in which the trajectory of the first nation s community was forever changed not just by the effects of land appropriation but also by other side effects of colonisation. I want to review how the traditional methods of health care, which had serviced the indigenous population for centuries, were challenged by the onslaught of new diseases and later pushed underground by the government s assimilation attempts and how they have survived these challenges to meet the needs of modern day indigenous Canadians. In an early copy of The Scientific Monthly, Dr. Hrdlicka of the Smithsonian Institute, was quoted as saying that before its discovery by Columbus, America was one of the most healthful of continents, if not the most so. This health status could be attributed to the lifestyle of the indigenous people, their food varying according to the locality where they lived, was meat, fish, vegetables (often eaten raw), nuts, seeds and fruits. Few areas had all these possibilities but, since Indians ate every part of an animal and every edible plant in their locality, they came close an optimal diet. At first the company had a lot of problems with keeping track of inventory and how much a product cost to be made. The system they had could not keep up with the growth of the company. They needed a new system or they would continue to lose money fast. To start off they looked at where the system that they had went wrong. It was that fact that the system didn t cover multi product production. This was killing them in the long run so they decided they needed a change. They looked at 20 different management systems and had them all come in to present their product. Keda also had them give reverences that proved that the product worked. • 12. The Significant Roles Of Citizen Journalism And The Role... When it comes to journalism, citizen journalism is not any different from what democracy is when it comes to politics and civic life. It allows for the active participation of the citizens in news gathering and reporting. The advancements that have taken place in the field of technology have enabled people to gain an opportunity to become producers of content that they used to be consumers of in the past through the mainstream media. Today, everyone has an opportunity to become a citizen journalist (Allan and Einar 76). There is an array of social media platforms and accounts whose key role is to disseminate information to the public, especially in cases where individuals may feel that conventional journalismwould want to shield the public from some information. Citizen journalists employ an extensive range of methods in the generation and dissemination of information. Much of these are driven by the advancements that have taken place in the field of technology and the forms of communication available to the public. These include the internet, the mobile phone, and the different camera gadgets which can all be employed in the gathering and sharing of information (DeMers, 89). One of the significant roles that citizen journalism could play in the society would be to fill the gap that is often left by traditional media as they try to play their role as the protector of public interest. It also describes and critiques measures that have recently been implemented by the Brazilian government in attempt to curb the further deterioration of society. In Brazil s society, neoliberal and capitalist beliefs within the social structure have hindered democratic politics. Diverse social groups are unable to come together and exert their political power as a united front, instead, the neoliberal belief of market power replacing citizenship power stratified the population based on capital. What all people of Brazil have in common is their citizenship and under the constitution, each citizen is entitled to equal access in the political realm. Brazil attempts to achieve this by requiring everyone to cast an opinion in the form of a vote. Citizenship has provided common ground and an articulatory principle for an immense diversity of social movements that have adopted the language of right as a way of expressing their demands and because of this, citizenship is a crucial weapon not only in the struggle against social and economic exclusion and disparity but also in the broadening of dominant conceptions of politics. • 18. Pascal s Wager Argument Analysis According to Pascal, one cannot come to the knowledge of God s existence through reason alone, so he suggests that the wise thing to do is to live your life as if God does exist. The reasoning behind this is that, a life like that has everything to gain and nothing to lose. He believes that, if we live as though godexist, and God does indeed exists, we will have infinite happiness(heaven). Even if the God doesn t exist at the end, we have not lost anything. Pascal then states, if we live as though God doesn t exist and God really does exist, we will be in infinite torment (hell and punishments). If we weigh the two options, it is quite clear that the obvious choice would be to live as if the God exists. He essentially concludes that the potential benefits of believing in God outweigh the potential of not believing in God. There are many objections to this argument and the one of the famous one is, we cannot force ourselves to believe in God. There are services provided to protect the victims or witnesses. Pamela mentions the marshmallow test created by Walter Mischel where he tested the patience of four and five years old, he placed a marshmallow on the table and leaved the toddlers unattended, they had the option to eat the marshmallow right away or wait and get two, he found out that toddlers could only wait 30 seconds and only a few waited 15 minutes (Druckerman , 2012). Why is this relevant to Druckerman s observation of French toddlers? Simply, because they know how to wait, they know how to distract themselves, they would be part of the toddlers that waited the 15 full minutes because they know how to wait (Druckerman , ... • 24. Should The Herdmans Be Allowed In Christmas Pageants The Herdmans were absolutely the worst kids in the history of the world. They lied and stole and smoked cigars (even the girls) and talked dirty and hit little kids and cussed their teachers and took the name of the Lord in vain and set fire to Fred Shoemaker s old broken down toll house. ( The Best Christmas Pageant Ever) Because the Herdmans had all this sin in their life, they needed to learn about God so they could be forgiven and go to heaven. The pageant was the perfect way for this to happen. One year, during a Churches preparation for the annual Christmas pageant, the Herdmans volunteered to be the main roles in the pageant. No one wanted the Herdmans in the play because they were five kids who wreaked havoc, and everyone was afraid they would ruin the pageant, but the Herdmans wanted to be in the pageant. • 25. Naturalized Citizen Clause Pros And Cons Argument Paper: The Naturalization Clause Controversy The United States is a nation built on independence and freedom. This freedom, established through the constitution, allows American citizens to be able to participate in their government. The same constitution also restricts freedom of some Americans however. The naturalization clause amended to the constitution in 1790, forbids naturalized citizens from becoming president. Many naturalized citizens have lived in America for most of their lives and contribute to society just as much as a natural born citizen does. The naturalized clause of 1790 should be removed from the constitution so that naturalized citizens also have a chance to run for the presidency. To be able to understand the controversy surrounding the natural born citizen clause in the constitution, it is important to know why it was added to the constitution in the first place. The original purpose of this clause was to prevent the British rule from coming to America and taking charge (Hulse). The National Constitution Center staff quoted the natural born citizen clause in the constitution saying that no person except a natural born citizen or a citizen of the United States at the time of the adoption of this constitution shall be eligible to the office of president ( Natural Born ). This clause also allows children that are offspring of United States citizens that are born internationally to obtain citizenship ( Natural Born ). At the time when the ... • 26. The Eistads Research Paper With six children and four adults spending all day on one confined houseboat, it was less than peaceful. My family did not know what we were getting ourselves into spending a week with The Eistads. They were a pleasant group of people, but our families were very different. They lived in a small town surrounded fields, and The Eistads did not care much for hygiene. Lice were uncovered on day three, and on day four there was the poop on the wall incident. The Eistads were a country bunch and did many daily activities differently compared to my family. Finally, the ciaos had become too much for my mother, Amy Eistad, and me, so we decided to take the rickety pull behind boat out for an outing and hopefully bring back some dinner. The rushing winds and gushing waves filled our tiny tin boat quickly. We were on the brink of being capsized. Grab the buckets, bellowed Amy. My mother and I hastily grabbed the buckets, and we started to move the water back where it belonged. Then it happened. The motor puttered for a few minutes and then ultimately died. The smoke from the motor filled our noses. I looked around and realized that we were stuck in the middle of the lake, in pouring rain, with no motor. Oil and Natural gas are mostly found in reservoir rocks. In order to find the reservoirs Chevron employs seismic technology by sending the sound waves deep inside the earth and using geophones listening to the bounced back waves. Geophones are devices, which are used as electronic ears, which records the signal when the sound comes back from earth. The sound bounced back and signal looks like a squiggle. When numerous squiggles are placed serially inline. We can see the structures, which have a slice or cross section of the earth. And after collecting the seismic data geologists, data engineers work on interpreting the seismic data to find the formations and structures, which holds oil and natural gas reservoirs. And finally field team will drill the specific locations according to the geologists report. Chevron has 50 percent success rate in finding the oil and natural gas using seismic technology. • 28. India Is A Land Known For Its Diversity Introduction: India is a land known for its diversity with respect to culture, languages, religions and cuisine. Several dishes in the Indian cuisine find its roots delved deep into tradition and history. Examples of these indigenous dishes include Paneer, Dahi, Avial and so on. The dairy industry in India has grown tremendously in recent years post the success of the Operation Flood Programme. This programme, which began in the 1970 s, was a noteworthy event globally and the impact of this can be witnessed in the fact of India rising to the status of being the leading producer of milk in the world. Out of the total milk produced in the country, nearly 40 50% is converted into a variety of dairy products whose origins lie deeply rooted into Indian tradition. The processes used to manufacture these products include heat and acid coagulation, heat desiccation and fermentation. Paneer is one such product which is an indigenous traditional type of fresh cheese prepared by heat acid coagulation of milk. Coagulation refers to the formation of large structural protein aggregates where fat in milk and other colloidal and soluble solids are entrapped with whey. The major protein present in milk that gets coagulated is casein. Paneer is unsalted and unripened unlike several of its western counterparts such as Roquefort cheese, Cheddar cheese and so on. It shares a few similarities with Tofu and western cottage cheese. As with the entire food industry within the country, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. A Room Of One s Own Analysis A Room of One s Own is a novel written by Virginia Woolf. In the story, Woolf is arguing that women need money, privacy, and education to write successfully. Throughout her essay, she analyzes several different female figures from the past and during her own time to give her argument leverage. One of these figures is a fictional character named Judith Shakespeare, a sister to William Shakespeare. Even though Judith is fictional, she is necessary to A Room of One s Own. The main focus of A Room of One s Own is to demonstrate that women need money, privacy, and an education to write works of good quality. This is directly stated in the very beginning, All I could do was to offer you an opinion upon one minor point a woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction; (Woolf, A Room of One s Own). Woolf does not believe that society has changed enough from the 1500s for women to write successfully. In order to prove her point, she begins the novel by analyzing Judith, a woman who had absolutely no resources. Judith Shakespeare, unlike famous writers such as Jane Austen, is unable to achieve any of her dreams because of the circumstances of her life. In order to further the idea that the problem regarding female writers is lack of resources and not lack of talent, Woolf writes that Judith and Shakespeare had the same amount of talent, as seen here, She was as adventurous, as imaginative, as agog to see the world as he [William Shakespeare] was (Woolf, A ...
