Pneumonia And Pulmonary Infection Of The Human Body
Historically pneumonia has been of the most persistent and deadly diseases known to man. As there
are multiple causative factors, the incidence of respiratory infection has always been high. It has
only been relatively recently with the advent of anatomy and modern diagnostic tests has medicine
sought to understand the pathophysiology and the etiology used to diagnose this often deadly
condition. Diagnosing the what has caused the infection is often the first step as this is what
determines the course of treatment. It is also important to clinicians and practitioners of medicine
that one must understand what an infection of the lungs can do to a human body. Lastly, the
treatments and medications used to bring the patient back to health must be understood and the
clinician should take steps to be familiar for every common type of pneumonia.... Show more

These causes can include bacteria, viruses, fungi parasites, medical conditions and medications.
Pathogens may enter the respiratory tract through inspiration or aspiration of oral secretions.
Certain types of bacteria can also infect the lungs through circulation of blood throughout the body.
The normal pulmonary defense mechanisms of the immune system and mucosal membranes usually
protect against infection. In humans with weakened immune systems, these defenses are either
suppressed or overwhelmed by the invading

A Blended Profession Essay
INTRODUCTION
To begin, we need to acknowledge that sport plays an important position in the lives of many
people around the world today. Sport is not confined to specific boundaries as there are many
different fields that sport may permeate itself into. These fields include the sporting and economic
sectors, sport sciences as well as the practical and athletic professionals who participate in these
fields (Refacuk, 2017). Undoubtedly we cannot ignore the field of sport coaching as a profession,
responsible for teaching and mentoring. In this essay, I will define the concept of a blended
profession and what ideologies rotate around how a blended professional should be acknowledged
as well as how this integrates into the ICCE and SASCOC framework ... Show more content on

Legal Drinking Age
For many of the generations living today, the legal drinking age has always been set at twenty
one. In the 1980 s, it rose from eighteen to twenty one in an attempt to reduce the amount of
underage drunk driving accidents. While the number of traffic fatalities have declined over the
past few decades, many would argue that the law has spawned many new problems as well, such as
an increase in alcohol poisoning deaths and binge drinking.
As previously stated, the primary reason for adjustment to the legal drinking age was to address the
preposterous number of drunk driving accidents. The United States has experienced a decline in all
age groups over the last 25 years and for that, the law has been a success. Although these statistics
are encouraging, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since 1979, the rate of binge drinking has increased 20 percent in non college women and 40
percent in women who attend college, and this rate continues to rise. College students that are
not of age to drink legally engage in pre game sessions, where the primary goal is to get drunk
before attending a social event. To obtain this goal, the young adults take multiple shots of hard
liquor in rapid succession (McCardell) in locations that are beyond administrative authority. These
unsafe and unhealthy drinking behaviors lead to many short and long term health effects.
Drinking is driven away from responsible adults who could model moderation for young adults
and instead driven into risky settings, heavily weighted with peer pressure and usually not
supervised by any non intoxicated people. While drunk driving is a problem, a study from the
National Institute of Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse states that of 5,000 deaths involving alcohol
in those under the age of 21, more than 60 percent of the fatalities occur off of roadways
(McCardell). This includes alcohol poisoning deaths that result from binge drinking incidents,
which between 1998 and 2005 jumped from 779 to 2290 cases in 18 24 year olds (Glaser). These
statistics indicate that the primary problem of this age is not drunk driving, but instead clandestine

Essay On Hercules
I think it s good for a person to have their true identity always intact because then you don t have
to hide anything and it is a lot easier to be happy. Also, you know who your true friends are when
your true identity is showing because they wouldn t judge you or bully you because of your true
self.Another reason to know your true identity is so you know who you really are and you know
what you want.Lastly it is good to have your true identity is so you can always better yourself,

They even used the cover off of one of the procedure manuals and a sock. This shows extreme
innovation in my opinion. This ability to be so innovative, I think also leads to arrogance. When
Gene Kranz announced to everyone that failure is not an option, he displayed arrogance. He
wanted people to realize that they were going to succeed by any means possible. Arrogance was
also displayed by the pilots throughout the movie. Tom Hanks (Jim Lovell) for example didn t seem
all that amused when Neil Armstrong was taking his first steps on the moon, almost to a sense
that he knew he would get his chance. The NASA pilots also displayed that they had an extreme
comfort level within their teams. When Ken Mattingly was told that he was going to have to
stay behind, Jim Lovell was upset because he didn t want to work with Jack Swigert. He even
mentioned how the original team knew the tone of each other s voices, displaying an extreme
level of comfort with one another. This comfort level within their teams also was displayed
nonverbally when the two teams interacted with each other. When one team was walking out of
the training shuttle and the other was walking in, I got a sense of the first team acting like they
were better than the backups. This was displayed by their body language when the first team went
back in to practice because Ken Mattingly said he needed to work on something else. They sort of

The Scandal Of The Enron Scandal
Accounting is a necessary and vital part of maintaining any business, it is needed to file taxes,
know how much one has in assets and liabilities, and indicate to investors whether the company
would be a profitable undertaking. However, sometimes the accounting goes horribly wrong when
people, even those who seem to be moral and uncorrubtable, fudge the numbers. By inflating books,
they can get away with billions of dollars in fraudand make nice bonuses for themselves. However,
these acts of greed affect not only the fraudulent person, but their families, coworkers, and other
businesses. There are several ways massive accounting fraud has taken place in companies, from
increasing depreciation, to not reporting debt, to right out making up numbers to report. These
frauds have been detected in multiple ways as well whistleblowers, internal audits, and even the
fraudulent people themselves. The effect of these scandals have taken a heavy toll on businesses
financially and on people involved emotionally. One scandal that had a lot of family involvement
and heartache was the Bernie Madoff scandal in 2008. Bernie Madoff, along with his accountant
David Friehling and Frank DiPascalli orchestrated the largest Ponzi scheme ever with his
investment securities business. Madoff s company Ascot managed a diverse portfolio of clients,
from high profile multi millionaires to hospitals to non profits. They all suffered losses, and some

Examples Of Adaptation In Harry Potter
We are constantly surrounded by adaptations, from BBC One s adaptation of Ann Cleeves
Shetland, to Harry Potter. Adaptation is an integral part of our lives as we long always strive for
meaning in everything, adaptation can allow us to see new meanings in what we watch and take
something we would not necessarily have seen in the original.
Adaptation is the application of previous concepts to new concepts, taking for instance a play onto
the big screen, whilst the original conditions are lost a new concept and ideals occur for the
adaptation. Adaptations are palimpsests, for example, in the Harry Potter films they take from the
books that Ginny is in love with Harry and all the girls want to be her friend, however in the films
she is mainly seen as helplessly in love with Harry and not much is seen regarding her life at
Hogwarts. Adaptations can be both good and bad, however they openly admit being an adaptation,
so they must adhere to having a connection to the original. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Whilst an adaptation will have elements of its original text it will have its own unique take and
spin on the subject. This will be designed usually to enrapture the audience but as adaptation is a
form of survival, it is also designed to keep the story alive. Since the dawn of time we have told
stories that have changed over the years but have primarily retained the same basic structure.
Fundamentally, adapting something is to change a quality whilst maintaining elements of the
original so that it is still understood to be an adaptation and not a

Art Therapy And The Creative Process
What is art therapy and does it really work? When one thinks of a therapist and an artist you think
of two vastly different people. With therapy being a scientific, analytical study and art a very free
and creative one, but when the two are combined they create a strong outlet for a lot of youth.
Physical and mental health are very serious matters and are both subjects that children may find
hard to talk about. Traditional therapy in some cases can have good outcomes, but for children it is
easier to visualize their feelings rather that verbally speaking upon them. Children are considered to
be visual learners and traditional therapy does not communicate the same way art therapycan. Many
studies have shown that introducing art therapy into classrooms and hospitals can improve a child
s physical and mental well being. One may still be wondering what is art therapy? to answer that
question, here is a definition Art therapy is the application of the visual arts and the creative
process within a therapeutic relationship, to support, maintain, and improve the psycho social,
physical, cognitive and spiritual health of individuals of all ages. (Malchiodi, C. (2013).). With all
this in mind it is hard to believe that many still do not look at this form of therapy to be taken
seriously.
To conduct therapy through art you must have an education behind it considering it is a profession
in mental health . Some think that art therapy can be done by any art

Yojimbo Comparison

Course: FPC211 Section A
Final Assignment: Essay Yojimbo (1961)/ A Fistful Of Dollars (1967)
The following essay is on two films, Yojimbo (1961) directed by Akira Kurosawa A Fistful Of
Dollars (1967) directed by Sergio Leone. The film Yojimbowas plagiarized by Sergio Leone when
he made A Fistful Of Dollars and Kurosawa sued for royalties.
A Fistful Of Dollars is a 1964 spaghetti western film directed by Sergio Leone starring Clint
Eastwood. The film was shot on a low budget. It is part of the Dollars Trilogy A Fistful Of Dollars,
For A Few Dollars More and The Good, The Bad The Ugly.
The premise behind A Fistful Of Dollars is a cowboy arrives at a Mexican town and immediately
is tested by 4 locals who he guns down with ease. An old innkeeper in the town explains to Clint
Eastwood The Stranger about a feud between two families in the town. The original entitled,

Now these two characters have similarities; their use of weaponry. Each character is a master
with their weapon of choice. Due to ethnicity variances, the original version, Yojimbo, use
Swords and the Italian version, A Fistful of Dollars use Pistols. The decision was based on not
only cultural factors but also the likelihood that it needs to appeal to its current audience, hence,
American s Versus the Japanese. One particular detail is the use of substances in their mouths. I
am referring to how the characters are consistently occupied with some form of object that they
are either chewing or smoking. Joe, from the Italian version, smokes a cigarillo in the film whereas
A Ronin from Yojimbo is constantly chewing on an object. One obvious similarity is that they are
both lone cowboy/ronin s and both characters are perceived as

A pattern of white lily appears on Clarissa confine, with details that the head of a white Lily snap
short off, and just falling from the stalk (647). The broken part of the white lily symbolizes death
and the purity that has been taken away, which briefly conclude the tragedy that happened to
Clarissa. In addition, A crowned Serpent, with its tail in its mouth, forming a ring, the emblem
of Eternity (646) is also etched on the coffin. Since a circle has no beginning or an end, this
shape represents a philosophical idea of eternity. The way the snake bites its own tails reveals a
concept of self consumption (82), as Maud Ellmann explains in The Hunger Artists (1993), the
snake could stand for circulation, self starvation, or imprisonment, all of which contribute to
Clarissa s tragedy (82). The root cause of Clarissa s tragic life is her inability in obtaining autonomy
of her life. The society Clarissa lives in objectifies women to trade for material goods and force
them to develop to fulfill their greed. In The Rape of Clarissa (1982), Terry Eagleton claims that in
this society death is indeed the only place of inviolable security

The Good Roads Bill By President Woodrow Wilson
The Good Roads Bill was signed in 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson, but this law took
decades of work by cycling activists to go from an idea to the oval office. The first mention of
the poor road quality in America came on December 30, 1894 After this mention, the Good
Roads Movement starts to spread. On May 26, 1895, the movement begins to spread to New York
via political and democratic power. In mid 1985, in a time where good roads was growing
momentum noted by the Gossip of the Cyclers column, apropos of good roads, the association of
that name has since justly acquired a greater importance than it previously enjoyed. The Good
Roads movement was spreading throughout the nation. People in Manhattan were beginning to

During this time, a New Jersey and Pennsylvania boarder town became a Good Roads Success
story. After putting $40,000 of roads in the city, a New Jersey town saw an increase in change
and real estate prices. There was significantly more crops being moved in and out of the city due
to the improved road quality. This success story became an example that the Good Roads
Movement brought up continually when fighting for legislation, and it happened as early as
1896 (6). The Good Roads movement eventually had to get politically involved to lobby for
money for roads. The cyclists started to partner with the farmers to influence regulation around
the state of New York. An employee of the Agricultural Department of the Government said, the
bicycle did more toward the cause of good roads than all the agitators since the time of Adam.
This employee was saying that cyclists were the biggest activists for good roads since
MacAdams engineered the MacAdams roads. The employee continues to say the the government
is looking to continue improving roads. Based on the two quotes here, it is clear that cyclists in
the Good Roads Movement helped persuade the government to create better roads (8). By
October, new roads, bridges, and education policies were being put into place. Cyclists worked

Three phase induction motor of wound rotor type is commonly used in adjustable speed drives.
According to the type of winding on rotor, there are two common types of induction machines
namely, squirrel cage induction motor and wound rotor induction motor. Squirrel cage induction
motors are mostly used in industrial drives which have cylindrical rotor with short circuited rotor
windings with the voltage supplied to stator windings. The rotor does not have a brushes and
commutator but consists of conducting bars that are placed into the rotor slots. These bars are
short circuited by the shorting rings. Whereas wound rotor induction motors have wye connected
rotor windings. In addition to the voltage that is applied to the stator windings, the phase voltages
can be supplied to the rotor winding using brushes and slip rings. However, wound rotor induction
motors have not been widely used because their efficiency and maximum angular velocity are lower
compared to squirrel cage. On the other hand, squirrel cage motors have been tremendously used in
high performance electric drives and electromechanical systems. Therefore, in this thesis, only three
phase squirrel cage induction motor drive is taken and performance analysis has been done using

Assignments will primarily be given to you with due dates. For example, my second week at
Central I walked into my English 1 class and we were given our first book. Coming from
Northwood, I assumed that we would be given a reading schedule along with the text but to my
surprise we were told to read the entire book by sometime the next month. Not to mention the
papers, book reports and projects that were all due in between that time. Again this was one

However, instead of letting my fear and anxiety get the best of me I talked to my grandparents
about my classes, got help from teachers/tutors, and used the tools I had. If I didn t learn things
previously that I should of for a class, I made sure I gave maximum effort which always makes
up for a lack of previous knowledge. Long story short, I ended that year with a 4.07 GPA so again,

Henry VIII was too young, Richard Foxe helped manage England for him. Henry started an alliance

Answer: Absolutism hold the supreme or absolute powers and constitutionalism is the head of state
and a hereditary or elected monarch. Absolutism is when the King or Queen rules with absolute and
total power. Which basically makes them a dictator. A King or Queen of constitutionalism has
limited powers since they rule along with a parliament or a governing body. An absolute monarch is
entitled to make all the economic and other state related decisions for the country whereas in the
constitutional monarchy, the parliament is responsible for the economic and foreign affairs. A
absolute monarch is not legally bound, a constitutional monarch is legally bound by the constitution
of their country. The absolute monarch gains powers either from hereditary or from marriage. The
constitutional monarch is either elected directly or indirectly.
4. What was the relationship between baroque art and architecture and absolutism? Answer:
Baroque culture grew out of an effort by the Catholic Church in order to attract more followers.
Architecture was important because it was used by kings in order to enhance their images to try
to appear glorious. The baroque architecture was the dominate style of absolutism, it was a
dramatic and emotional style. The royal palace was a favorite architectural expression of absolute
power. Peter the Great wanted his form of baroque architecture to be in the form of a city.
Therefore a new city was created by peasants.

Effects of Living in a Foreign Country Essay
Living away from your country can be a really interesting and unforgettable experience, but at the
same time it has very important effects on one s life. The purpose of this essay is to discuss the
three main effects that living in another country can produce in your personal life.
The major effect, and also a very common one, is that once you start a regular life away from
home, you miss everything. This fact doesn t mean that you are unhappy but that you are aware of
being on your own. Missing your family and the attention they all paid to you is a very usual thing

your daily life. Since you are living in a place with different customs and traditions from yours,
you have to be able to develop yourself in unknown conditions. This means making new friends,
learning other points of view, accepting different opinions and values, and seizing every
opportunity you have to go to new places. Therefore, you ll be able to achieve true knowledge.
Suggesting to change your mind totally or to be square minded would be foolish; the best thing to
do would be to stick to your most important values and, according to them, change those that you
believe could be improved.
The most significant effect of living away from home is the independent behavior that grows
inside of you. Living on your own far from your family gives you a lot of experiences toward
organizing your life. Since it is up to you and no one else to go to school, clean your room, wash
your clothes, and organize your expenses, it is predictable that you will have a good and strong
meaning of responsibility. Being independent and responsible will help you get through life every
goal you want to achieve.
Living far from home, even for a short period of time, can be really hard at the beginning. We have
to remember that all changes are difficult, but they are

To Kill a Mockingbird Essay examples
Children look up to their elders for wisdom and advice. They rely on someone experienced and
with authority for guidance on how to live their lives. However, sometimes the people who are
accountable for youth mislead them; they may have good intentions, but are not mature enough to
exemplify their values and morals, or they simply are ignorant. In the novelTo Kill a Mockingbird,
Aunt Alexandra plays a negative role: she is a proper, southern lady with a strict code of
behaviour and etiquette, but is too closed minded and obstreperous to change her ways or view
the world from others perspectives. Calpurnia takes on the position of a positive role model by
disciplining the children in the Finch household. Miss Maudie takes on the role of a... Show more

(Lee, 83) Aunt Alexandra is inimical towards people such as Walter Cunningham as well, who are
less fortunate and therefore perceived as repugnant and unfit to be her niece s playmate.
...you can scrub Walter Cunningham till he shines, you can put him in shoes and a suit, but he ll
never be like Jem...Because he is trash. (Lee, 224 225).
These words indicate not only a vituperative nature, but arrogance and obstinacy. She believes white
people are better than black people. She refuses to consider anything positive about people she
finds reprehensible; she is steadfast on her opinions about people and would rather not get to know
them. She is also quite domineering and officious; she often meddles with Atticus fatherly role:
...it s bad enough he lets you all run wild... (Lee, 83), Aunt Alexandra put him up to this... (Lee,
134).
This grandiloquence is a manifestation of hypocrisy in the novel because her behaviour towards
others is atrocious, yet she expects the best manners from Scout. Calpurnia is a much more
positive caregiver, as she is a strict disciplinarian, but to a lesser degree than Aunt Alexandra.
Likewise she is not a hypocrite; she could comment on the ways of white people because she has
been raised in a white environment.
I ve spent all my days workin for the Finches or the Bufords... (Lee, 125). An example of how
Calpurnia disciplines Scout Finch is when she takes Scout into the kitchen after she complains that

Henry VIII s Reformation Essay
Henry VIII s Reformation
In 1529 Henry VIII started to reform the Catholic Church in England, however there are different
opinions as to why he began these controversial changes. The orthodox view concurs that there
was a vast anti clerical feeling in 16th century England; the corrupt church was unpopular with
the masses. However the revisionist view claims that the reformation was actually due to politics.
Henry needed a male heir and therefore needed a divorce. The needs and wants of the masses
were not taken into consideration. In this essay I am going to look at England pre reformation and
reach my own opinion of whether or not England was actually in need of a reformation in 1529. ...

But were the clergy really that bad, and if they were would people not have done anything about
it? In the diocese of Lincoln, which had 1,006 individual parishes, they only had 25 complaints of
sexual misconduct for the whole year. This is a low figure, which proves that the deficiencies of the
clergy have either been fiercely exaggerated or that people didn t have a problem with the incidents
and therefore didn t report them. The interesting fact is that after the reformation, the number of
complaints rose. Surely this suggests that it was the reformation that caused the anti clericalism and
not the other way round.
Many laypeople did see the clergy, as greedy and excessive, people were growing discontented
with hypocritical clergy such as Wolsey. Wolsey was 10x richer than his nearest rival even
though he was the son of a butcher; many people found this deceitful, after all when ordained he
would have taken a pledge of poverty. He would also have taken a pledge of chastity, yet he had a
mistress. Despite his great power within the church, he actually did very little for the religion. He
became a symbol of everything that was wrong with the church and we know that many influential
people didn t like him, such as Thomas Howard. However Wolsey was only one man within the
church and many of

Reverend Clementa Pinckney s Speech
Barack Obama, President of the United States, is said to have delivered one of the most
beautifully written and well thought out speeches of his presidency. This speech, (or eulogy), is
a result of the death of Reverend Clementa Pinckney, a man whose life was cut short under the
hands of a white supremacist. Obama s speech resonated so well with citizens because of the
writing and the delivery altogether. Specifically, the internal workings of the speech were current
with Reverend Pinckney s principles and beliefs. The fortitude laced in his voice also contributed
greatly to the effect the speech had on the people. President Obama was able to relate extremely
well to speech goers because he used Reverend Clementa Pinckney s faith as a

steamed veggies nestled beside it. He honestly couldn t remember when was the last time he d

Winnie The Pooh Character Analysis
The Adventures of Winnie The Pooh by AA Milne is book that focuses on the life of the
loveable bear Pooh and his experiences with his friends in the 100 acres woods. More
importantly than Pooh s experiences in the novel is how Pooh impacts his friends. Pooh is
shown to have positive impact on everyone in the 100 acre woods. Pooh is show to be loyal and
dedicated friend. Also, Pooh is adventurous and always willing to help his friends at any sign of
trouble. Furthermore, Pooh s effect on his friends is seen to be very positive and this positivity
provides insight into some of the lessons young readers can learn from the lovable bear.
From Pooh s very first scene you get a glimpse into how adventurous he is when you see him trying
to get honey from the bee s nest. This hunger for adventure can be seen throughout most of the
novel as he is always helping his friends with an adventure. For instance, when he notices
Christopher Robin with his big red boots Pooh knew that an Adventure was going to happen, and
he brushed the honey off his nose with the back of his paw, and spruced himself up as well as he
could, so as to look Ready for Anything (Milne). Pooh did not even know what Christopher
Robin wanted to do but being his friend knew that he wanted to help with this adventure.
Moreover, Pooh adventurous nature teaches kids to be active and adventurous in their own lives.
However Pooh s adventures are not just because he likes the explorative nature of them, a lot of
times they are for the benefit of one of his friends. For example, when his good pal Eeyore loses his
tail Pooh declares I, Winnie the Pooh, will find your tail for you. . This shows that Pooh is selfless
and his selflessness has a positive impact on the 100 acre woods. Furthermore, it teaches kids that
they should do things for others out of the kindness of their own hearts just like Pooh does
throughout the novel.
Another one of Pooh s best qualities which is show plenty of times throughout the novel is that he
is a loyal and dedicated friend. He is constantly trying to make things better in the 100 acre woods
through his actions. One example of this is when he gets Eeyore a gift for his birthday, even though
he ate the honey that was in

History Of The Delian League
In my perspective, the Delian League was both successful and unsuccessful, but were by and large
more successful than not.
The Delian League was mutual alliance and protection against the Persians after the first Persian
War, mainly to make the Persians pay for the invasion and to free the Greeks that were under
Persian rule (Gill, 2016, 2). All members of the League contributed both silver and ships to the
war efforts, but it was Athens that dominated (Brand, n.d., pp. 28). With Athens leading with a
strong naval military, the Delian League pushed back the Persian s second invasion of Greece and
were able to liberate Thrace and the Aegean of Persian strongholds (Gill, 2016, 11).
Although the Delian League was successful in holding off the Persian invasions, Athens had taken
advantage of their naval military might. To this extent, the formation of the Delian League was
unsuccessful. The members of the Delian League grew tired of Athens abusive power, which
eventually led to the Peloponnesian War led by Sparta against Athens. The eventual result of the
war devastated and humbled Athens (Brand, n.d., pp. 28). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There was a common judiciary which was always to the reach of the member citizens of the
Athens. They ensured that this form of government was accessible to the Aegean. Above all, there
was an extensive rebuilding of the Athen s buildings and the entire city. This was started by the
Pericles and Parthenon whicg the League treasury financied.
‎In conclusion, I found that the formation of the Delian League was more successful than not.
Together, all members, led by Athens navy, were able to benefit from pushing off the Persian
invasions, which also resulted in some city states being liberated from Persian rule. The only ones
that were unsuccessful later on were the Athenians, which was the result of their own abusive
actions.

Rhetorical Address
Logos, pathos, and ethos have been existing to empower and strengthen our writing. In this
rhetorical analysis essay, logos, pathos, and ethos that are used in the Annual Address will be
clearly identified and evaluated. The Annual Address written by Joseph Jackson discusses the
issues of discrimination and racism. It was written and delivered at the 84th Annual Session of the
National Baptist Movement. Unlike many others back in history, Jackson believes that actions
should be taken place before any demanded result. Jackson appeals to his fellow race to take
action and adds credibility to his claims by using historical examples from the past. Also, Jackson
makes personal connections with his targeted audience, black people, which builds trust between
the speaker and the reader. We will be examining the context of the this speech and Jackson s
perspective and claims.
The Annual Address starts off discussing the foundation of this nation. Into a few paragraphs, he
addresses the civil rights struggle and the reason behind it. About half of his speech address some
advice and suggestions for the future of the black people. Joseph Jackson writes the Annual
Address, telling the black people to put an action in their beliefs and for justice, in a way
contradicting King s perspective on peaceful protests. In page two, Jackson states, What is this
struggle for civil rights? I answer, it is an effort of American citizens to get full equality of
opportunity. It is the resolution and the determination that there shall be in these United States one
class of citizens and that is first class citizens. This is a struggle to adopt in practice as well as
theory the concept of man on which the Declaration of Independence is based, and to fully
implement the Federal Constitution, one of the greatest documents for human freedom since the
writing of the Magna Carta. The civil rights struggle is a struggle for full freedom, justice, and
equality before the law. It is a struggle to bring from paper the lofty ideals of America, and to
apply them in practice to the lives and actions of all Americans. In reality it is America s struggle
to be herself, to fulfill the highest promises of her being, and to build a social order after

Little Cottonwood Canyon Research Paper
Little Cottonwood Canyon is a site bursting with geological history, rock formations earthquake
potential on the fault, prehistoric glacial formations, landslides, and many hazards associated
with it. The Wasatch fault is bound to have a enormous earthquake in the future and has left
behind numerous scars. The mountains have been engraved by glacial formations dated back to
the Ice Age (~14,000 years ago). Rock falls and landslides have left hefty boulders as indication
of erosion and moisture in the rocks. The hazards on this mountain range are mass wasting, radon,
earthquakes, and flooding of Little Cottonwood Creek. There is an abundant amount of history
buried inside the walls of Little Cottonwood Canyon. This mountain range has existed since the
Ice Age which was roughly 14,000 30,000 years ago. Consequently, the Ice Age and Lake
Bonneville created a Delta at the base of the canyon and a long creek that carves its way down the
mountain (Wilkerson 1987). It also created Cirques; which is a crescent formed slope on the faces
of the mountains (Richmond 1964). Little Cottonwood Canyon also lies on an active fault, the
Wasatch fault, and it has been active for the past 15 million years. This fault in the last 6000 years

The Greatest Accomplishments Of Thomas Jonathan Jackson
Thomas Jonathan Jackson started from humble beginnings, and became one of the greatest
Generals in American history. The most important reasons for this were the leadership abilities,
morals, and attributes he developed throughout his life. He was born in northwestern Virginia in
1825. His father passed away along with his older sister to Typhoid Fever two years later. His
Mother remarried but soon realized that she was not long for this world. She sent him to live with
relatives in the frontier. The frontier taught young Jackson the importance of honor and integrity.
There, a man s word was everything. These qualities would set the foundation for the rest of his
development. Thomas never finished high school but attended... Show more content on

He received citations for meritorious service and a promotion to Brevet Major. This stemmed
from his sense of duty, willingness to face danger, and by leading from the front. In the onset of
the Civil War, Jackson s sense of loyalty demanded that he fight for his state. He took charge of
rendezvous camp as a Colonel, drilling raw recruits at Harper s Ferry. He organized the Virginia
militias into disciplined units of the First Brigade. The opening battle to the Civil War was on
July 21 1861. The battle of First Manassas, also known as the battle of Bull Run started with the
Federals beating the Confederates. Henry House Hill was the last rallying possible rallying
point. It was a dire situation for the Confederacy. Jackson had heard the fighting from where he
was in Bull Run. He took initiative and moved off at once towards Henry Hill. Jackson emplaced
his artillery on the main crest of the hill. He then positioned his infantry on the backside of the hill.
This allowed his infantry to cover the gunners while staying out of sight. It was here that Jackson
earned his nickname of Stonewall . A fellow commander named Bee was retreating when he noticed
Jackson on the hill. He knew Jackson would hold. Then he told his troops to rally behind the
Virginians. Jackson s quick reaction and critical thinking allowed his fellow commanders to rally
their troops behind him, ultimately turning the tide of battle. In autumn 1861, Jackson took

The Sphere Of Women In The Anebellum Era
In the antebellum era of America, which is the time before America s civil war, there was a call
for justice and liberty. The American Revolution had ended a few years ago, the new Constitution
was in place, and arguments about slavery began. Abolitionists were demanding that slaves be
freed while most of the American population could not decide what to do or said no. This sparked
another argument and fight, women s rights. Religious reasons were being tossed back and forth
between the fight of elevating a womans status or keeping her where she is. Women of this time
wanted to elevate their status, or change their sphere, from being domestic, pretty, obedient women
to being equal as man. Historians though have different thoughts about the sphere of women. By
evaluating secondary sources and primary sources during and about this time, I can conclude that
women did want to change their sphere and that depending who the woman was determined what
sphere she may be in.
Catherine Clinton is a historian who wrote The Ties that Bind which is about the sphere women
were in in the antebellum era. She proposed that the nineteenth century ushered in a social as well
as an economic revolution for American women. Catherine focuses on the middle class women of
this time and how their spheres impacted them. She believes that due to these spheres women
wanted to rise up and elevate her status to being equal to men. Women of this time had no way of
changing laws or standards due to the

Examples Of Lack Of Self Confidence In The Wizard Of Oz

other terms, this is about 85% of the world s current population of 7.5 billion people. Why does
the majority of the world s population suffer from a lack of self confidence? There is a simple

The Klondike Gold Rush In William Robert Morrison s Eldorado
William Robert Morrison is a Canadian historian who wrote the article Eldorado , in which he
gives a detailed account of the Klondike gold rush of 1897 99 and how difficult of a time that was
for the prospectors who travelled in hopes to strike riches. No matter which way people went into
Dawson City, the challenges were tremendous. Morrison believes that the Klondike gold rushis what
made the westerly region of the North a part of the modern world. During this time an economic
recession had a grip on the country; with the gold rush boom the economy would improve. In this
article Morrison writes about how differently Canadians and Americans acted throughout this
time. Americans were violent, riddled with gangsters and mob violence, while Canadians in
Dawson City were prohibited from the use of firearms; because of this not a single murder
occurred in a Dawson City saloon during the gold rush. During the gold rush period businesses
were closed on Sundays, and Mounties kept the law in order. Even 118 years ago Canadians were
known to be kind, and the Mounties were a prominent figure. The Klondike gold rush lead to the

having a well diversified product portfolio, one can observe that there are some differences
between the two in terms of their products. As mentioned above, Mars has been extending their

(e.g. drinks, petcare, nutritious products). Moreover, Mars also penetrated into the chewing gum
industry by acquiring Wrigley in 2008, one of the leading confectionery companies in the world

Stereotype A Thought By Beverly Daniel Tatum
Stereotype a Thought Today, many believe that stereotypes have been eradicated throughout our
modern world, this is far from the truth. Beverly Daniel Tatum, an author of several books
including Why Are Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria asks, How did academic
achievement become defined as exclusively white behavior? Tatum has an interesting point,
however stereotyping is not just about race it can be about gender bias, or body issues too. Ann
DuCille, author of From Multicultural Barbie and the Merchandising of Difference says;
Barbie s body is a consumer object itself a vehicle for display of clothing and spectacular trappings
of a wealthy teenage fantasy life . Ducille gives a good example of body politics, and the
importance of not only focusing on race. Thus, is a good example of how stereotypes are learned
by how one is treated in schoolor at home. Education about racial identity, gender equality, and
body shaming, to an extent, will help eliminate some forms of stereotyping and create a more
understanding and equal society. Therefore schools are not the problem, stereotypes, however
racist, sexist, or just plain mean, are learned at home and in schools from peers, parents and
teachers alike. In a way, stereotypes will never truly be eliminated from our world because from the
day we are born we notice differences. One may argue that it is just a distinction between people,
which constitutes stereotyping. Just

Psych Analysis of the Movie Blow
The movie Blow is the story of George Jung, the man who established the American cocaine
market in the 1970s. The film starts with George as a child, showing what his childhood was like
and what his relationship with his parents was like. As it progresses George grows up and moves
to California. While there he become caught up in the marijuana scene and eventually starts selling
it for money. George expands his market and eventually becomes very wealthy. But, George
becomes too complacent and gets caught by the police and sentenced to prison. While there he
meets and makes friends with Diego Delgado and learns about the drug Cocaine. Together they find
a way to traffic it into the United States and again George becomes extremely wealthy.... Show more

Drug tolerance is when increasing amounts of the drug are needed to gain the original, desired
effect. This means that as a user continues to take a drug the desired effects lessen with the same
dosage used over and over again because they are slowly building up a tolerance to the drug and
its effects. But, if the user increases the dosage over time, they will be able to achieve that
desired effect that they are looking for and in turn become more and more tolerant to the drug.
George exemplifies this trait very well when he is in the delivery room and his wife is having
their child. Before rushing his wife to the hospital George is shown taking/accidently inhaling
cocaine as he packs for the trip. Once at the hospital and in the delivery room George is seen
standing in a corner watching his wife give birth. George is standing fairly rigid while his hand
is shaking uncontrollably and he has a grin of sorts on his face. This is him reacting to the drug
and at the moment a drug induced heart attack as well. When George recovers the doctor tells
him what had happened. George recollects by saying, The official toxicity limit for humans is
between one and one and half grams of cocaine depending on body weight. I was averaging five
grams a day, maybe more. I snorted ten grams in ten minutes once. I guess I had a high tolerance.
This line in the movie shows how much of a tolerance

Comparing George Bush and Al Gore
Comparing George Bush and Al Gore
George Bush has seven principles of reform, only four of which I will elaborate on, for a better
quality education in our nation s schools: (1) Achieve Equality; Just as Bush is closing the
achievement gap in Texas, he plans to do so across the states (2) Promote Excellence; Bush
believes in clearly defined standards of basic skills plus crucial knowledge. The states should
devise tests to ensure that the standards are met (3) Ensure that Every Child Can Read; Statistics
show that 70% of 4th graders in low income schools cannot read. Bush stands firm that reading is
the pathway to learning and will make sure that every child can read by 3rd grade (4) Improve
School Safety; Juvenile gun laws will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think that the only things that our schools need are (1) Recognizing advanced students and
providing advanced education (2) Providing more money to public schools, especially high schools
(3) More advanced technology and provide training in more advanced technological equipment.
ABORTION
In short terms, Bush is against abortion. He believes in pro life with exceptions for rape, incest
and life of the mother. He plans to set the goal that all children should be welcomed in life and
protected by law. He supports parental notification, banning use of taxpayer funds for abortion,
and banning partial birth abortion. He also supports the increasing of adoptions to prevent
abortions. He opposes doctor assisted suicide and believes that a doctor s role is to relieve pain
and suffering and cure, not to end life. Gore, on the other hand, is personally against abortion
but he is doing nothing to stop it!! In fact, he is supporting it by providing funds for programs
that inform patients about abortion services in District of Columbia. Keep it in mind that he is
personally against it but also believes that it is a woman s choice and that he has stood strong
time and time again to defend a woman s right to choose. He also supports the expansion of
Medicaid funds for abortion. I am totally in sync with Bush s beliefs. I am a Christian and I stand
firm of what the Bible says and I think that is what Bush is standing for also. Abortion is wrong
morally and for me, it

Pablo Picasso s The Rape Of The Sabine Women
The Rape of the Sabine Women Pablo Picasso s art piece The Rape of the Sabine Women is an
art executed from the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. The artwork primarily captures the conflict
between the west and the east and more so the prevailing threat and acts of inhumanity in the
third world war era. The first painting in the series dated 24 October 1962 (Picasso, Beechey and
Stephens 76) took place just ten days after the recording of Soviet missiles by American planes in
Cuba. The art, therefore, captures the great annihilation of citizens humanity during the third world
war. It is by the look of the painting that one gets a clear picture of the distress undergone by
women during the war period. This discussion seeks to explore the art... Show more content on

The art in a way resembles some other paintings in the same gallery found in the MFA museum.
The art known as Rape of Sabine Women by Nicolas Poussin is a good example of similar
artwork that also addresses the issue of war and terror during that time. Another art that
resembles Picasso s is The Intervention of the Sabine Women by Jacques Louis David. Sympathy
is introduced in the minds of people who view them. The art piece is one of the most honored in
the MFA collections. It has gone a step further in motivating the museum body to collect related
art pieces that fit the gallery on The Rape of the Sabine Women. The fact that the artwork is based
on the Cuban Missile Crisis creates remembrance of the pivotal times the nation was in. Many
people, who engage themselves in the activity of celebrating the Cuban anniversary, gain an
excellent interpretation of the art since it is a primary reminder of Cuba s

These investments have had great impact on the cost structure and consequently, on the bottom line
of these companies. Because of the fact that many of the companies have reached the maximum
potential of the Six Sigma approach, what would be the next step for productivity improvement?
Studies have shown that the design stage directly influences more than 70% of a product s life
cycle cost. Companies with high product development effectiveness have earnings three times the
average earnings, and have revenue growth two times the average revenue growth. These
observations are persuading more and more companies to adopt improved product development
processes under Taguchi Method. This method s approach is focused on increasing engineering
productivity so that new products can be developed rapidly and at low cost, and value based
management. Taguchi Method Strategy Variation reduction is recognized all around the world as a
key to productivity improvement. There are many approaches to reducing the variability, each one
having its place in the product development cycle. By focusing on variation reduction at the design
stage, you can prevent failures in the following stages of a product s life cycle. The Six Sigma
approach has made fantastic improvements in cost reduction by finding problems that occur in
manufacturing operations and fixing the immediate causes. The Robust

Compare and contrast the Five kingdom and three domain classification system
Classification is the method used by scientists to order living organisms. All species have a
unique classification that results in a binomial name. classification is used to make it easier for
different species to be identified by scientists. The current system, the Three Domain System ,

a molecular building block for ribosomes . Under this system, organisms are classified into three
domains and six kingdoms . The domains are Archaea, Bacteria, and Eukarya. The kingdoms are

The Internet And Social Network Sites
Abstract
It is a common notion that we, as a society, have become polarized and that the social media is to
blame for it. Some scholars argue that the internet provides numerous sources of information thus
enhancing our understanding of issues and tempering our views. We, as humans, also engage in
behaviors such as homophily and biased assimilation which have been found to encourage
polarizing behavior. This paper tries to explore if polarization is a consequence of informed
deliberation or just a result of group dynamics.
Keywords
Polarization, Homophilia, Deliberation, Personalized content, Social Network Sites (SNS)
Introduction
The advent of the internet and social network sites (SNS) as a platform for debate and
deliberation means that partisans can now discuss issues online be it politics, religion or topics
such as gun control, abortion and same sex marriage. A search in today s media will reveal a
gamut of articles about how we, as a society, are more polarized than ever and that Social Media
is solely responsible for it (E.g. Roepe, 2016). Polarization in this context refers to the
phenomenon where members of a deliberating group predictably move toward a more extreme
point in the direction indicated by the members pre deliberation tendencies (Sunstein, 2002). Thus
we can think of polarization as an outcome of the deliberation process of two opposing factions
expressed as a property of the state of being of those factions.

Archetype Of Anti Hero
Is an anti hero really a bad guy or is the hero or heroine really a good guy but doing good deeds
his or her way? Anti heroes sometimes do good deeds because they are heroes right? Some of
them are true heroes while others have a more destructive or violent ways to get the job done, no
matter what kind of damage they have done to the community which makes them more of a villain.
They are mostly heroes with a more violent way to get things done, but some of them are more
villainous then the other. The anti hero is a common characterarchetype for the antagonist that has
been around since the comedies and tragedies of Greek theater. Unlike the traditional hero who is
morally upright and steadfast, the anti hero usually has a flawed moral character.

The Average Age Of Onset Of Generalized Anxiety Disorder
The average age of onset of generalized anxiety disorder is 31 years old. Generalized anxiety
disorder affects about 6.8 million American adults. This disorder can develop at any point in the
life cycle, but the highest risk is between childhood and middle age.
Individuals who suffer from GAD can t relax; they startle easily, and have difficulty concentrating.
Often they have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. Some physical symptoms include fatigue,
headaches, muscle tension, muscle aches, difficulty swallowing, trembling, twitching, irritability,
sweating, nausea, lightheadedness, having to go to the bathroom frequently, feeling out of breath,
and hot flashes.
Researchers have found that several parts of the brain are involved in fear and anxiety. Researchers
are also looking for ways in which stress and environmental factors may play a role.
GAD has many relations to associated problems from obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder
Agoraphobia, post traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, depression,
stress to suicide, and more.
Freud distinguished that chronic anxiety was prevalent in the general population, and to this day,
there is inadequate information about the natural history of this disorder.
Cognitive behavioral therapy is an effective treatment for many people, it helps them to identify,
understand, and modify faulty thinking and behavior patterns. This enables people with GAD learn
to control their worry. Some

These surveys further revealed that these guests will pay anywhere from nine to ten percent
premium on the already advertised prices.
What can be stated as a welcome relief for the educated traveler might pose real challenges for
the hotel business. To better understand the scenario, it should be noted that hotels are presently
facing severe shortages in occupancy rates which are at their lowest since 1971. Such a crisis and
lack of funds can definitely hamper any efforts to install appliances that comply with the LEEDS
standards (Leadership in Energy Environmental Design). Some experts agree that a trade off may
lead hotels into removing free amenities that include little bottles of shampoos, jams and free
basket of fruits; all of which are the hallmark of these eco lodgings.
Where are the Workers gone?
The hotel industry gives employment at a very large proportion of part time workers, who after
gaining substantial experience, leave for other lucrative jobs at restaurants and outdoors. Low
wages in the hotel industry is one of the primary reasons for low retention rates.
Hotel industry Gurus are already thinking of ways to attract and retain qualified workers by
increasing the pay scales and by reducing the long working hours. The top management is now
devising constructive methods that will retain the existing workers by sponsoring education and

Americans imperializing Hawai i was a constructive motion. This is due to the fact that throughout
the speech, Dole informs his audience on the benefits both the Hawaiians and Hawai i would gain
through Hawai i being a territory of the United States(US). The speech was given on June 10th,
1900, at Iolani Palace, after Dole was elected to be the governor of the Territory of Hawai i. As

deconstructive, as it gives numerous examples of how the US imperialising Hawai i was
constructive. The examples included the ways the Hawaiians and Hawai i benefited from being a
territory of the US. Since the speech gives a clear western perspective on the US imperialising
Hawai i and clearly shows the audience whether imperialism was constructive or destructive for a
western perspective, it is valuable. Therefore, the examples and the clear perspective provided
assists in answering the overall question of whether imperialism was constructive or destructive.
Regardless of the valuable information sources possess, they all also have limitations. The first
limitation of the source is that the speech doesn t show both sides of imperialism. This is because
the speech only demonstrates how imperialism was constructive, and doesn t state anything about
how it may have been destructive. Another limitation is that the speech was written from a western
perspective, therefore it was written from the perspective of the people from the country that was

Literary Analysis Of Rocket Boys
Literary Analysis Essay
Wenchang Richardson
Core 2
Analysis Essay
Back in the days, the job you get mostly depends on what family you are born into. For example
during Rocket Boys by Homer H. Hickam Jr, the setting takes place in Coalwood West Virginia
where Sonny is expected to be a miner when he grows up because everyone in Coalwood and his
father s side has a job that does something the mines. However, when his mom tells him to get out
of Coalwood Sonny decides to become a rocket scientist against his father s desires, this results in
his dad being disappointed in him. Pushing this aside as if it didn t matter at all though Sonny
continues his journey to change Coalwood forever while on the way making his dad see that he is
worth more than being a miner when he got out of his high school years.
Even though all the people in Coalwood are miners, Sonny decides to be a different person so he
decides that he and his groups of friends will build rockets. When he does this it makes his dad
upset with him, and even tried to make him stop by dumping his chemicals. All this did for
Sonny was make his even more determined to build and launch rockets. His first three rockets
were good but then that fourth one when into the mine. Looks like your son wants to be a rocket
scientist. He doesn t know what he wants to be, but I do know what he is Dad said pg 94 The
thing that this quote really tells is that this action makes his dad upset. If it just ended here the
rest of the story would be the same. I would be a very boring memoir of how he gave up and
became a miner. Yet I can tell you that this didn t happen. Instead, Sonny kept on launching and
making rockets while his dad became more and more upset. When Sonny kept on not giving up it
lead him to win the national science fair, and this finally made his dad proud of him. He achieved
by being what he wants, and not letting people stop him.
Determined to prove that he can do better than what his dad says about him leads him on a big
journey of scary, and dangerous things as he does his rocket activities. Earlier that day he saw
Sputnik, and this made him interested in rockets. When he made his first rocket he knew it would
be dangerous. In fact, when he launched the

Infinite Truth
Infinite Truth
Since the dawn of philosophical thought there has been a desire to find truth. Now exactly what
truth is depends upon whom you ask. Philosophers have been searching for truth in various forms
for at least as far back as Aristotle in the first century B.C. all the way up to Carl Hempel in the
20th century A.D. To Aristotle and Plato truthwas reality; To Descartes truth was found in God; To
Hempel truth was found in explanation. None of these are accurate and yet all of them point
toward the same truth. Reality, as defined by Plato and Aristotle, God, as proved be Descartes and
ideal explanation as modeled by Hempel, all allude to the same thing. They point out that mankind
is a finite being and that truth is only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Descartes states in the beginning of his proof that all things clear and distinct are true. That is
no more accurate than saying that all ideas that are ambiguous to someone are unconditionally
untrue. He also states, the existence of God depends on the clarity and distinctness with which
we perceive the idea of God. Therefore, if to me, it was not clear and distinct then it would not
necessarily be true. But the clarity and distinctness of our thoughts depends on the existence of
God. This seems to be a very circular argument and is dependent on the existence of God to
prove the existence of God. Again human perception falls short of truth. Do people understand
truth more in more modern settings? Over the course of the 20th century Carl Hempel came up
with two models of human explanation that he organized as ideals. Bas Van Fraassen puts forth
a few problems with the models. The problems he states are; asymmetry, relevance, low
probability, and legality. These are not the problems with the models. The real problems come
from, as Hempel puts it, the universal laws invokedВ… can have only been established on the
basis of a finite body of evidence, which surely affords no exhaustive verification . (Balashov, pg.
51) He also says that because of this all the laws used in the deductive nomological method of
explanation are all only probabilistic. This means that the only method that Hempel actually
explains is his probabilistic method. Since all

Heteronormativity Research Paper
Heteronormativity is known as the belief that heterosexuality is the only normal and natural
expression of sexuality (Merriam Webster). While homosexuality is becoming more accepted in
today s society, heteronormativity is still a prominent issue in the media and life at home. There are
various opinions on heteronormativity, some believing that it is not an issue and others believing it
is alienating gay individuals. Although it does not affect the majority of households and individuals
in the U.S, a solution to heteronormativity would benefit LGBTQ individuals who feel isolated
from the rest of society. The concept of heteronormativity is one that few people actually take the
time to think about. Generally, the automatic assumed sexuality

  • 2. Pneumonia And Pulmonary Infection Of The Human Body Historically pneumonia has been of the most persistent and deadly diseases known to man. As there are multiple causative factors, the incidence of respiratory infection has always been high. It has only been relatively recently with the advent of anatomy and modern diagnostic tests has medicine sought to understand the pathophysiology and the etiology used to diagnose this often deadly condition. Diagnosing the what has caused the infection is often the first step as this is what determines the course of treatment. It is also important to clinicians and practitioners of medicine that one must understand what an infection of the lungs can do to a human body. Lastly, the treatments and medications used to bring the patient back to health must be understood and the clinician should take steps to be familiar for every common type of pneumonia.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These causes can include bacteria, viruses, fungi parasites, medical conditions and medications. Pathogens may enter the respiratory tract through inspiration or aspiration of oral secretions. Certain types of bacteria can also infect the lungs through circulation of blood throughout the body. The normal pulmonary defense mechanisms of the immune system and mucosal membranes usually protect against infection. In humans with weakened immune systems, these defenses are either suppressed or overwhelmed by the invading ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Blended Profession Essay INTRODUCTION To begin, we need to acknowledge that sport plays an important position in the lives of many people around the world today. Sport is not confined to specific boundaries as there are many different fields that sport may permeate itself into. These fields include the sporting and economic sectors, sport sciences as well as the practical and athletic professionals who participate in these fields (Refacuk, 2017). Undoubtedly we cannot ignore the field of sport coaching as a profession, responsible for teaching and mentoring. In this essay, I will define the concept of a blended profession and what ideologies rotate around how a blended professional should be acknowledged as well as how this integrates into the ICCE and SASCOC framework ... • 4. Legal Drinking Age For many of the generations living today, the legal drinking age has always been set at twenty one. In the 1980 s, it rose from eighteen to twenty one in an attempt to reduce the amount of underage drunk driving accidents. While the number of traffic fatalities have declined over the past few decades, many would argue that the law has spawned many new problems as well, such as an increase in alcohol poisoning deaths and binge drinking. As previously stated, the primary reason for adjustment to the legal drinking age was to address the preposterous number of drunk driving accidents. The United States has experienced a decline in all age groups over the last 25 years and for that, the law has been a success. Although these statistics are encouraging, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since 1979, the rate of binge drinking has increased 20 percent in non college women and 40 percent in women who attend college, and this rate continues to rise. College students that are not of age to drink legally engage in pre game sessions, where the primary goal is to get drunk before attending a social event. To obtain this goal, the young adults take multiple shots of hard liquor in rapid succession (McCardell) in locations that are beyond administrative authority. These unsafe and unhealthy drinking behaviors lead to many short and long term health effects. Drinking is driven away from responsible adults who could model moderation for young adults and instead driven into risky settings, heavily weighted with peer pressure and usually not supervised by any non intoxicated people. While drunk driving is a problem, a study from the National Institute of Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse states that of 5,000 deaths involving alcohol in those under the age of 21, more than 60 percent of the fatalities occur off of roadways (McCardell). This includes alcohol poisoning deaths that result from binge drinking incidents, which between 1998 and 2005 jumped from 779 to 2290 cases in 18 24 year olds (Glaser). These statistics indicate that the primary problem of this age is not drunk driving, but instead clandestine binge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They even used the cover off of one of the procedure manuals and a sock. This shows extreme innovation in my opinion. This ability to be so innovative, I think also leads to arrogance. When Gene Kranz announced to everyone that failure is not an option, he displayed arrogance. He wanted people to realize that they were going to succeed by any means possible. Arrogance was also displayed by the pilots throughout the movie. Tom Hanks (Jim Lovell) for example didn t seem all that amused when Neil Armstrong was taking his first steps on the moon, almost to a sense that he knew he would get his chance. The NASA pilots also displayed that they had an extreme comfort level within their teams. When Ken Mattingly was told that he was going to have to stay behind, Jim Lovell was upset because he didn t want to work with Jack Swigert. He even mentioned how the original team knew the tone of each other s voices, displaying an extreme level of comfort with one another. This comfort level within their teams also was displayed nonverbally when the two teams interacted with each other. When one team was walking out of the training shuttle and the other was walking in, I got a sense of the first team acting like they were better than the backups. This was displayed by their body language when the first team went back in to practice because Ken Mattingly said he needed to work on something else. They sort of gave the other ... • 8. The Scandal Of The Enron Scandal Accounting is a necessary and vital part of maintaining any business, it is needed to file taxes, know how much one has in assets and liabilities, and indicate to investors whether the company would be a profitable undertaking. However, sometimes the accounting goes horribly wrong when people, even those who seem to be moral and uncorrubtable, fudge the numbers. By inflating books, they can get away with billions of dollars in fraudand make nice bonuses for themselves. However, these acts of greed affect not only the fraudulent person, but their families, coworkers, and other businesses. There are several ways massive accounting fraud has taken place in companies, from increasing depreciation, to not reporting debt, to right out making up numbers to report. These frauds have been detected in multiple ways as well whistleblowers, internal audits, and even the fraudulent people themselves. The effect of these scandals have taken a heavy toll on businesses financially and on people involved emotionally. One scandal that had a lot of family involvement and heartache was the Bernie Madoff scandal in 2008. Bernie Madoff, along with his accountant David Friehling and Frank DiPascalli orchestrated the largest Ponzi scheme ever with his investment securities business. • 9. Examples Of Adaptation In Harry Potter We are constantly surrounded by adaptations, from BBC One s adaptation of Ann Cleeves Shetland, to Harry Potter. Adaptation is an integral part of our lives as we long always strive for meaning in everything, adaptation can allow us to see new meanings in what we watch and take something we would not necessarily have seen in the original. Adaptation is the application of previous concepts to new concepts, taking for instance a play onto the big screen, whilst the original conditions are lost a new concept and ideals occur for the adaptation. Adaptations are palimpsests, for example, in the Harry Potter films they take from the books that Ginny is in love with Harry and all the girls want to be her friend, however in the films she is mainly seen as helplessly in love with Harry and not much is seen regarding her life at Hogwarts. Adaptations can be both good and bad, however they openly admit being an adaptation, so they must adhere to having a connection to the original. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whilst an adaptation will have elements of its original text it will have its own unique take and spin on the subject. This will be designed usually to enrapture the audience but as adaptation is a form of survival, it is also designed to keep the story alive. Since the dawn of time we have told stories that have changed over the years but have primarily retained the same basic structure. Fundamentally, adapting something is to change a quality whilst maintaining elements of the original so that it is still understood to be an adaptation and not a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Art Therapy And The Creative Process What is art therapy and does it really work? When one thinks of a therapist and an artist you think of two vastly different people. With therapy being a scientific, analytical study and art a very free and creative one, but when the two are combined they create a strong outlet for a lot of youth. Physical and mental health are very serious matters and are both subjects that children may find hard to talk about. Traditional therapy in some cases can have good outcomes, but for children it is easier to visualize their feelings rather that verbally speaking upon them. Children are considered to be visual learners and traditional therapy does not communicate the same way art therapycan. Many studies have shown that introducing art therapy into classrooms and hospitals can improve a child s physical and mental well being. One may still be wondering what is art therapy? to answer that question, here is a definition Art therapy is the application of the visual arts and the creative process within a therapeutic relationship, to support, maintain, and improve the psycho social, physical, cognitive and spiritual health of individuals of all ages. (Malchiodi, C. (2013).). With all this in mind it is hard to believe that many still do not look at this form of therapy to be taken seriously. To conduct therapy through art you must have an education behind it considering it is a profession in mental health . Some think that art therapy can be done by any art ... The film Yojimbowas plagiarized by Sergio Leone when he made A Fistful Of Dollars and Kurosawa sued for royalties. A Fistful Of Dollars is a 1964 spaghetti western film directed by Sergio Leone starring Clint Eastwood. The film was shot on a low budget. It is part of the Dollars Trilogy A Fistful Of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More and The Good, The Bad The Ugly. The premise behind A Fistful Of Dollars is a cowboy arrives at a Mexican town and immediately is tested by 4 locals who he guns down with ease. The decision was based on not only cultural factors but also the likelihood that it needs to appeal to its current audience, hence, American s Versus the Japanese. One particular detail is the use of substances in their mouths. I am referring to how the characters are consistently occupied with some form of object that they are either chewing or smoking. Joe, from the Italian version, smokes a cigarillo in the film whereas A Ronin from Yojimbo is constantly chewing on an object. The Good Roads Bill By President Woodrow Wilson The Good Roads Bill was signed in 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson, but this law took decades of work by cycling activists to go from an idea to the oval office. The first mention of the poor road quality in America came on December 30, 1894 After this mention, the Good Roads Movement starts to spread. On May 26, 1895, the movement begins to spread to New York via political and democratic power. In mid 1985, in a time where good roads was growing momentum noted by the Gossip of the Cyclers column, apropos of good roads, the association of that name has since justly acquired a greater importance than it previously enjoyed. After putting $40,000 of roads in the city, a New Jersey town saw an increase in change and real estate prices. There was significantly more crops being moved in and out of the city due to the improved road quality. This success story became an example that the Good Roads Movement brought up continually when fighting for legislation, and it happened as early as 1896 (6). The Good Roads movement eventually had to get politically involved to lobby for money for roads. The cyclists started to partner with the farmers to influence regulation around the state of New York. An employee of the Agricultural Department of the Government said, the bicycle did more toward the cause of good roads than all the agitators since the time of Adam. This employee was saying that cyclists were the biggest activists for good roads since MacAdams engineered the MacAdams roads. The employee continues to say the the government is looking to continue improving roads. Three phase induction motor of wound rotor type is commonly used in adjustable speed drives. According to the type of winding on rotor, there are two common types of induction machines namely, squirrel cage induction motor and wound rotor induction motor. Squirrel cage induction motors are mostly used in industrial drives which have cylindrical rotor with short circuited rotor windings with the voltage supplied to stator windings. The rotor does not have a brushes and commutator but consists of conducting bars that are placed into the rotor slots. These bars are short circuited by the shorting rings. Whereas wound rotor induction motors have wye connected rotor windings. In addition to the voltage that is applied to the stator windings, the phase voltages can be supplied to the rotor winding using brushes and slip rings. However, wound rotor induction motors have not been widely used because their efficiency and maximum angular velocity are lower compared to squirrel cage. On the other hand, squirrel cage motors have been tremendously used in high performance electric drives and electromechanical systems. Therefore, in this thesis, only three phase squirrel cage induction motor drive is taken and performance analysis has been done using ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Henry went against the Catholic Church and made himself the head of the English Church. Elizabeth I was jailed in the tower of London under suspicion of supporting the rebels against her sister Mary. • 20. Effects of Living in a Foreign Country Essay Living away from your country can be a really interesting and unforgettable experience, but at the same time it has very important effects on one s life. The purpose of this essay is to discuss the three main effects that living in another country can produce in your personal life. The major effect, and also a very common one, is that once you start a regular life away from home, you miss everything. This fact doesn t mean that you are unhappy but that you are aware of being on your own. Missing your family and the attention they all paid to you is a very usual thing to do. Little details like sitting on a Sunday morning watching TV alone instead of helping your dad organizing his things or having a nice chat with your mom makes you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s obvious then that you have started to appreciate everything you had back where you belong. The second main effect would be learning how to accept another type of society and culture into your daily life. Since you are living in a place with different customs and traditions from yours, you have to be able to develop yourself in unknown conditions. This means making new friends, learning other points of view, accepting different opinions and values, and seizing every opportunity you have to go to new places. Therefore, you ll be able to achieve true knowledge. Suggesting to change your mind totally or to be square minded would be foolish; the best thing to do would be to stick to your most important values and, according to them, change those that you believe could be improved. The most significant effect of living away from home is the independent behavior that grows inside of you. Living on your own far from your family gives you a lot of experiences toward organizing your life. Since it is up to you and no one else to go to school, clean your room, wash your clothes, and organize your expenses, it is predictable that you will have a good and strong meaning of responsibility. Being independent and responsible will help you get through life every goal you want to achieve. Living far from home, even for a short period of time, can be really hard at the beginning. However, sometimes the people who are accountable for youth mislead them; they may have good intentions, but are not mature enough to exemplify their values and morals, or they simply are ignorant. In the novelTo Kill a Mockingbird, Aunt Alexandra plays a negative role: she is a proper, southern lady with a strict code of behaviour and etiquette, but is too closed minded and obstreperous to change her ways or view the world from others perspectives. Henry VIII s Reformation Essay Henry VIII s Reformation In 1529 Henry VIII started to reform the Catholic Church in England, however there are different opinions as to why he began these controversial changes. The orthodox view concurs that there was a vast anti clerical feeling in 16th century England; the corrupt church was unpopular with the masses. However the revisionist view claims that the reformation was actually due to politics. Henry needed a male heir and therefore needed a divorce. The needs and wants of the masses were not taken into consideration. In the diocese of Lincoln, which had 1,006 individual parishes, they only had 25 complaints of sexual misconduct for the whole year. This is a low figure, which proves that the deficiencies of the clergy have either been fiercely exaggerated or that people didn t have a problem with the incidents and therefore didn t report them. The interesting fact is that after the reformation, the number of complaints rose. Surely this suggests that it was the reformation that caused the anti clericalism and not the other way round. Many laypeople did see the clergy, as greedy and excessive, people were growing discontented with hypocritical clergy such as Wolsey. Wolsey was 10x richer than his nearest rival even though he was the son of a butcher; many people found this deceitful, after all when ordained he would have taken a pledge of poverty. • 25. Winnie The Pooh Character Analysis The Adventures of Winnie The Pooh by AA Milne is book that focuses on the life of the loveable bear Pooh and his experiences with his friends in the 100 acres woods. More importantly than Pooh s experiences in the novel is how Pooh impacts his friends. Pooh is shown to have positive impact on everyone in the 100 acre woods. Pooh is show to be loyal and dedicated friend. Also, Pooh is adventurous and always willing to help his friends at any sign of trouble. Furthermore, Pooh s effect on his friends is seen to be very positive and this positivity provides insight into some of the lessons young readers can learn from the lovable bear. From Pooh s very first scene you get a glimpse into how adventurous he is when you see him trying to get honey from the bee s nest. This hunger for adventure can be seen throughout most of the novel as he is always helping his friends with an adventure. For instance, when he notices Christopher Robin with his big red boots Pooh knew that an Adventure was going to happen, and he brushed the honey off his nose with the back of his paw, and spruced himself up as well as he could, so as to look Ready for Anything (Milne). Pooh did not even know what Christopher Robin wanted to do but being his friend knew that he wanted to help with this adventure. Moreover, Pooh adventurous nature teaches kids to be active and adventurous in their own lives. However Pooh s adventures are not just because he likes the explorative nature of them, a lot of times they are for the benefit of one of his friends. For example, when his good pal Eeyore loses his tail Pooh declares I, Winnie the Pooh, will find your tail for you. . This shows that Pooh is selfless and his selflessness has a positive impact on the 100 acre woods. Furthermore, it teaches kids that they should do things for others out of the kindness of their own hearts just like Pooh does throughout the novel. Another one of Pooh s best qualities which is show plenty of times throughout the novel is that he is a loyal and dedicated friend. • 26. History Of The Delian League In my perspective, the Delian League was both successful and unsuccessful, but were by and large more successful than not. The Delian League was mutual alliance and protection against the Persians after the first Persian War, mainly to make the Persians pay for the invasion and to free the Greeks that were under Persian rule (Gill, 2016, 2). All members of the League contributed both silver and ships to the war efforts, but it was Athens that dominated (Brand, n.d., pp. 28). With Athens leading with a strong naval military, the Delian League pushed back the Persian s second invasion of Greece and were able to liberate Thrace and the Aegean of Persian strongholds (Gill, 2016, 11). Although the Delian League was successful in holding off the Persian invasions, Athens had taken advantage of their naval military might. To this extent, the formation of the Delian League was unsuccessful. The members of the Delian League grew tired of Athens abusive power, which eventually led to the Peloponnesian War led by Sparta against Athens. In this rhetorical analysis essay, logos, pathos, and ethos that are used in the Annual Address will be clearly identified and evaluated. The Annual Address written by Joseph Jackson discusses the issues of discrimination and racism. It was written and delivered at the 84th Annual Session of the National Baptist Movement. Unlike many others back in history, Jackson believes that actions should be taken place before any demanded result. Jackson appeals to his fellow race to take action and adds credibility to his claims by using historical examples from the past. Also, Jackson makes personal connections with his targeted audience, black people, which builds trust between the speaker and the reader. We will be examining the context of the this speech and Jackson s perspective and claims. The Annual Address starts off discussing the foundation of this nation. Into a few paragraphs, he addresses the civil rights struggle and the reason behind it. About half of his speech address some advice and suggestions for the future of the black people. Joseph Jackson writes the Annual Address, telling the black people to put an action in their beliefs and for justice, in a way contradicting King s perspective on peaceful protests. In page two, Jackson states, What is this struggle for civil rights? I answer, it is an effort of American citizens to get full equality of opportunity. It is the resolution and the determination that there shall be in these United States one class of citizens and that is first class citizens. This is a struggle to adopt in practice as well as theory the concept of man on which the Declaration of Independence is based, and to fully implement the Federal Constitution, one of the greatest documents for human freedom since the writing of the Magna Carta. The civil rights struggle is a struggle for full freedom, justice, and equality before the law. • 31. The Sphere Of Women In The Anebellum Era In the antebellum era of America, which is the time before America s civil war, there was a call for justice and liberty. The American Revolution had ended a few years ago, the new Constitution was in place, and arguments about slavery began. Abolitionists were demanding that slaves be freed while most of the American population could not decide what to do or said no. This sparked another argument and fight, women s rights. Religious reasons were being tossed back and forth between the fight of elevating a womans status or keeping her where she is. Women of this time wanted to elevate their status, or change their sphere, from being domestic, pretty, obedient women to being equal as man. Historians though have different thoughts about the sphere of women. By evaluating secondary sources and primary sources during and about this time, I can conclude that women did want to change their sphere and that depending who the woman was determined what sphere she may be in. Catherine Clinton is a historian who wrote The Ties that Bind which is about the sphere women were in in the antebellum era. She proposed that the nineteenth century ushered in a social as well as an economic revolution for American women. Catherine focuses on the middle class women of this time and how their spheres impacted them. She believes that due to these spheres women wanted to rise up and elevate her status to being equal to men. Women of this time had no way of changing laws or standards due to the ... Why does the majority of the world s population suffer from a lack of self confidence? There is a simple answer to this question, and it can be found in the book The Wonderful Wizard of Ozby L. Frank Baum. Baum through the use of 3 characters portrays the lack of self confidence. Realizing this the Scarecrow told the Tin Woodman to cut down a large tree from the close by forest and asked the Lion to push it down towards the ditch once it was cut. No matter which way people went into Dawson City, the challenges were tremendous. Morrison believes that the Klondike gold rushis what made the westerly region of the North a part of the modern world. During this time an economic recession had a grip on the country; with the gold rush boom the economy would improve. In this article Morrison writes about how differently Canadians and Americans acted throughout this time. Americans were violent, riddled with gangsters and mob violence, while Canadians in Dawson City were prohibited from the use of firearms; because of this not a single murder occurred in a Dawson City saloon during the gold rush. During the gold rush period businesses were closed on Sundays, and Mounties kept the law in order. Even 118 years ago Canadians were known to be kind, and the Mounties were a prominent figure. • 38. Stereotype A Thought By Beverly Daniel Tatum Stereotype a Thought Today, many believe that stereotypes have been eradicated throughout our modern world, this is far from the truth. Beverly Daniel Tatum, an author of several books including Why Are Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria asks, How did academic achievement become defined as exclusively white behavior? Tatum has an interesting point, however stereotyping is not just about race it can be about gender bias, or body issues too. Ann DuCille, author of From Multicultural Barbie and the Merchandising of Difference says; Barbie s body is a consumer object itself a vehicle for display of clothing and spectacular trappings of a wealthy teenage fantasy life . Ducille gives a good example of body politics, and the importance of not only focusing on race. Thus, is a good example of how stereotypes are learned by how one is treated in schoolor at home. Education about racial identity, gender equality, and body shaming, to an extent, will help eliminate some forms of stereotyping and create a more understanding and equal society. Therefore schools are not the problem, stereotypes, however racist, sexist, or just plain mean, are learned at home and in schools from peers, parents and teachers alike. In a way, stereotypes will never truly be eliminated from our world because from the day we are born we notice differences. One may argue that it is just a distinction between people, which constitutes stereotyping. Just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Drug tolerance is when increasing amounts of the drug are needed to gain the original, desired effect. This means that as a user continues to take a drug the desired effects lessen with the same dosage used over and over again because they are slowly building up a tolerance to the drug and its effects. But, if the user increases the dosage over time, they will be able to achieve that desired effect that they are looking for and in turn become more and more tolerant to the drug. George exemplifies this trait very well when he is in the delivery room and his wife is having their child. Before rushing his wife to the hospital George is shown taking/accidently inhaling cocaine as he packs for the trip. Some scholars argue that the internet provides numerous sources of information thus enhancing our understanding of issues and tempering our views. We, as humans, also engage in behaviors such as homophily and biased assimilation which have been found to encourage polarizing behavior. This paper tries to explore if polarization is a consequence of informed deliberation or just a result of group dynamics. Keywords Polarization, Homophilia, Deliberation, Personalized content, Social Network Sites (SNS) Introduction The advent of the internet and social network sites (SNS) as a platform for debate and deliberation means that partisans can now discuss issues online be it politics, religion or topics such as gun control, abortion and same sex marriage. A search in today s media will reveal a gamut of articles about how we, as a society, are more polarized than ever and that Social Media is solely responsible for it (E.g. Roepe, 2016). Polarization in this context refers to the phenomenon where members of a deliberating group predictably move toward a more extreme point in the direction indicated by the members pre deliberation tendencies (Sunstein, 2002). Thus we can think of polarization as an outcome of the deliberation process of two opposing factions expressed as a property of the state of being of those factions. For example during Rocket Boys by Homer H. However, when his mom tells him to get out of Coalwood Sonny decides to become a rocket scientist against his father s desires, this results in his dad being disappointed in him. Pushing this aside as if it didn t matter at all though Sonny continues his journey to change Coalwood forever while on the way making his dad see that he is worth more than being a miner when he got out of his high school years. Even though all the people in Coalwood are miners, Sonny decides to be a different person so he decides that he and his groups of friends will build rockets. When he does this it makes his dad upset with him, and even tried to make him stop by dumping his chemicals. All this did for Sonny was make his even more determined to build and launch rockets. His first three rockets were good but then that fourth one when into the mine. Looks like your son wants to be a rocket scientist. He doesn t know what he wants to be, but I do know what he is Dad said pg 94 The thing that this quote really tells is that this action makes his dad upset. • 52. Infinite Truth Infinite Truth Since the dawn of philosophical thought there has been a desire to find truth. Now exactly what truth is depends upon whom you ask. Philosophers have been searching for truth in various forms for at least as far back as Aristotle in the first century B.C. all the way up to Carl Hempel in the 20th century A.D. To Aristotle and Plato truthwas reality; To Descartes truth was found in God; To Hempel truth was found in explanation. None of these are accurate and yet all of them point toward the same truth. Reality, as defined by Plato and Aristotle, God, as proved be Descartes and ideal explanation as modeled by Hempel, all allude to the same thing. They point out that mankind is a finite being and that truth is only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Descartes states in the beginning of his proof that all things clear and distinct are true. That is no more accurate than saying that all ideas that are ambiguous to someone are unconditionally untrue. He also states, the existence of God depends on the clarity and distinctness with which we perceive the idea of God. Therefore, if to me, it was not clear and distinct then it would not necessarily be true. But the clarity and distinctness of our thoughts depends on the existence of God. This seems to be a very circular argument and is dependent on the existence of God to prove the existence of God. Again human perception falls short of truth. Do people understand truth more in more modern settings? Over the course of the 20th century Carl Hempel came up with two models of human explanation that he organized as ideals. Bas Van Fraassen puts forth a few problems with the models. The problems he states are; asymmetry, relevance, low probability, and legality. These are not the problems with the models. The real problems come from, as Hempel puts it, the universal laws invokedВ… can have only been established on the basis of a finite body of evidence, which surely affords no exhaustive verification . (Balashov, pg. 51) He also says that because of this all the laws used in the deductive nomological method of explanation are all only probabilistic. This means that the only method that Hempel actually explains is his probabilistic method. Since all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
